- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey guys, welcome back to Wisecracks. We have a special
- 0:02Speaker 1: edition this week. A friend of mine I've been talking
- 0:05Speaker 1: to for a couple of years and finally got him
- 0:08Speaker 1: mom and came into Vegas. John and I went to
- 0:11Speaker 1: dinner with him. Yesterday, I went to breakfast with him,
- 0:13Speaker 1: learned more about him personally. Uh, Terry, wanton on me. Terry,
- 0:17Speaker 1: thank you for coming on with us. We really appreciate
- 0:19Speaker 1: your flying. You flew into Vegas for this, right, Yes,
- 0:21Speaker 1: that's great, that's wonderful. Terry. Last night we went to dinner. First,
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'll start off like this, nothing to do with anything,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and the waitress called us babe. Thought that was kind
- 0:30Speaker 1: of funny. So in one week twice I got called
- 0:34Speaker 1: sweetheart and babe. I think we're back. I think we're
- 0:36Speaker 1: past all the cancel culture back. Wow. So Terry, let's
- 0:41Speaker 1: before we tell people a little bit more about you.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I want to find out when you were young, when
- 0:46Speaker 1: you were a kid, when you were when you were
- 0:48Speaker 1: a child, did you you're gambling in your family? Did
- 0:52Speaker 1: your mom and dad gamble a little bit? Were you
- 0:54Speaker 1: in Vegas you were living? Where?
- 0:56Speaker 2: Tell us tell the viewing audience.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Well, here's gambles. My father was a bookie, okay, and
- 1:08Speaker 3: I did his creatively.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Yep, and the book say he.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Where there, and so his vacation was okay, Vegas fore yep.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Well that's great because you see what you just said.
- 1:30Speaker 1: That's a lot of the gambling families. John, He just
- 1:33Speaker 1: said he thought his vacation was the family's vacation.
- 1:36Speaker 2: He went to Vegas.
- 1:37Speaker 1: That's your vacation, come with me, you know, kind of
- 1:39Speaker 1: like Chevy Chase and Vegas vacation. He went out gambling
- 1:42Speaker 1: to defend I do what you want.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:44Speaker 1: So the kids, So you're a young kid thirteen, fourteen, fifteen.
- 1:48Speaker 2: No, it was like seventy eight.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Wow. And now did did you say you knew gambling
- 1:52Speaker 1: at a young age? Yes? And uh so this is
- 1:55Speaker 1: back in the sixties. I would think that you said
- 1:58Speaker 1: your dad came to town, and at dinner I found out.
- 2:01Speaker 1: This was shocking to me that, uh that Michael Gon
- 2:06Speaker 1: who owns the South Point, his dad was Jackie Gone
- 2:08Speaker 1: legend in this town, legendary downtown legend, one of the
- 2:13Speaker 1: one of the really uh characters in this town. And
- 2:16Speaker 1: I know a lot of those old school bookmakers used
- 2:19Speaker 1: to lay off their bets and we had we had
- 2:22Speaker 1: we had bookmaking joints in town that weren't casinos. They
- 2:25Speaker 1: were just bookmaking joints for sports and horses. So your
- 2:30Speaker 1: dad was Jackie Gone's bookmaker. Jackie would lay off to
- 2:36Speaker 1: your father. So that is wild, isn't it? But I
- 2:39Speaker 1: knew what happened. I knew I know other people that
- 2:42Speaker 1: had layoff books. They would call Kansas City, Chicago, different
- 2:44Speaker 1: places and that. And where were you living at the time, Omaha, Nebraska,
- 2:49Speaker 1: where I thought there wasn't even gambling. That's amazing, especially
- 2:52Speaker 1: a Japanese business. I just wouldn't think they would even gamble.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So gambling was a rite of passage for Terry like
- 2:59Speaker 1: it was for me as a kid. And it's so
- 3:02Speaker 1: cool now.
- 3:03Speaker 5: Do you think it was cool back then when you
- 3:05Speaker 5: were middled Like do you remember what age you were
- 3:07Speaker 5: at when you were like, I like the action, I
- 3:10Speaker 5: like the gambling.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Do you remember.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Five or six? See meet too? At nine?
- 3:16Speaker 2: We were in it.
- 3:17Speaker 1: My father was screaming and yel on the TV. We did, yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 1: we did, we did. We didn't though, remember the keno
- 3:23Speaker 1: in the coffee shop that used to fill out the
- 3:24Speaker 1: kenos in the coffee shop. The girl would run around
- 3:27Speaker 1: a knot runner.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So your first time gambling in a casino, though you
- 3:33Speaker 1: told me last night, was about fourteen. Wow, I thought
- 3:37Speaker 1: I was bet at sixteen, fourteen years old, you were
- 3:40Speaker 1: in a casino playing black jackets. And now when they
- 3:44Speaker 1: questioned you, what would you or would anyone not question you?
- 3:48Speaker 2: Security that point was not very provision.
- 3:52Speaker 1: They were, They weren't. They were more laxed than You're right.
- 3:55Speaker 6: They were looking for bad guys.
- 3:56Speaker 2: They were looking for bad guys. Yeah, yeah, so I'll do.
- 4:02Speaker 3: And even though it's probably twelve, I was white and
- 4:08Speaker 3: it was seazy jeope.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Just start speaking Japanese and automatically that makes you sound
- 4:14Speaker 1: so more so you know it's yours.
- 4:16Speaker 2: And let's not mess with me Japanese.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I'll let him play. And they just didn't mess with you. Wow,
- 4:21Speaker 1: that's so good. Your dad was involved in many other
- 4:25Speaker 1: companies before Oriental Trading, right, he built up a bankroll.
- 4:30Speaker 1: You know, I'm not I should my mind's always saying
- 4:32Speaker 1: bankroll like gaming. He built up different companies and he
- 4:36Speaker 1: had different companies before he was he was the bookmaker
- 4:41Speaker 1: first when he was younger, but he maybe used that
- 4:44Speaker 1: book making stake to be the person he was later
- 4:46Speaker 1: in life. God wow wow and Oriental Trading. What year
- 4:52Speaker 1: did you start working for him? Well, I should say
- 4:54Speaker 1: what age did you start working for him? Ah? Wow,
- 4:58Speaker 1: you were a little kid working in the company. Yeah,
- 5:01Speaker 1: And Terry sent me some things before he came to town,
- 5:06Speaker 1: some bags of it like the googlely hyeballs stuff I
- 5:09Speaker 1: used to love when I was a kid. So Terry's
- 5:11Speaker 1: you still have a lot of those things, and thank
- 5:12Speaker 1: you for that wonderful array of just different things. But
- 5:17Speaker 1: I know as you got older, you took this company
- 5:20Speaker 1: to the next level, So your dad's ky. I've read
- 5:23Speaker 1: some stories about were you're like twenty three or twenty four,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and you were the CEO of the company at that
- 5:29Speaker 1: young age, traveling all the time. Your life was consumed
- 5:32Speaker 1: by this company, it seems like to me from what
- 5:35Speaker 1: I read, so you were going internationally back and forth
- 5:37Speaker 1: to China and different companies, Asia and the United States,
- 5:40Speaker 1: back and forth constantly. Right, Okay, what was at the peak?
- 5:46Speaker 1: What did you take this company to? What was your
- 5:48Speaker 1: monthly revenue that you took this company to fifty million
- 5:52Speaker 1: a month? Because I've actually heard of oriotal trading. When
- 5:55Speaker 1: I was a kid, I heard of it, I just
- 5:57Speaker 1: didn't know what it was. So you built up this
- 5:59Speaker 1: company to the level. But yet you never really had
- 6:03Speaker 1: the uh, the the urge to go gambling. At twenty
- 6:07Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, you were you were working at this time.
- 6:10Speaker 1: My business is the business was gambling.
- 6:14Speaker 6: That was your rush. Yes, wow, long hours, long days.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah. And you you your father. When your dad passed away,
- 6:24Speaker 1: you were left this company. You and your your family,
- 6:27Speaker 1: brother and sister, just myself, just just yourself. So you
- 6:31Speaker 1: had this company and you actually sold your end in
- 6:34Speaker 1: two thousand to Berkshire Hathaways No to another another company
- 6:39Speaker 1: that eventually they took it over. But you had some dealings.
- 6:42Speaker 1: You said with Warren Buffett personally, yeah it has in
- 6:46Speaker 1: him and.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Said, oh okay, it likes so much. Okay he is
- 6:52Speaker 2: he willing to meaning for the rest of your life. Wow,
- 6:56Speaker 2: that really gotcha?
- 6:58Speaker 1: Gotcha.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I have not asked you this yet.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So you after you sold the company, what did you do,
- 7:07Speaker 1: like was an idle mind a devil's playground or do
- 7:10Speaker 1: you think about going to gamble? Or actually what I
- 7:14Speaker 1: read was you did open up like a restaurant. You
- 7:18Speaker 1: tried to open up a restaurant, You tried to get
- 7:20Speaker 1: some other businesses. I'm sure from last night's dinner I
- 7:24Speaker 1: heard you talk about this. I heard your friends say
- 7:26Speaker 1: say this. You probably had some people around you that
- 7:29Speaker 1: were bad people. You probably had some people steal some
- 7:32Speaker 1: money from you, from you, people that you were friends.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Millions of dollars, eleven millions a lot, yeah, one person,
- 7:41Speaker 1: eleven million years. Jesus, Wow, friends that long. Wow, that's
- 7:47Speaker 1: that's sad, but it's going I knew how to be
- 7:50Speaker 1: scammed out of money. But you decided to keep yourself
- 7:54Speaker 1: a little more busy. So you opened up a company, sorry,
- 7:57Speaker 1: you opened up a charity, a charitable trust, and you
- 8:02Speaker 1: gave away millions of your own money. Yes, to research
- 8:06Speaker 1: for cancer and different causes for age research, cancer researches,
- 8:12Speaker 1: and so you've did that, and you and you were
- 8:15Speaker 1: you consumed with that at all? Did you go into
- 8:16Speaker 1: an office every day?
- 8:17Speaker 2: Did you?
- 8:18Speaker 1: Like? I have a friend back in New York that
- 8:20Speaker 1: has a charity, and he gets consumed with the charity.
- 8:23Speaker 1: He does Teddy, how's he gets consumed with raising money
- 8:27Speaker 1: and making the sure people? Did you did you do
- 8:29Speaker 1: that at all, or you were a little bit bored,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and and then you said, let me take a trip.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And the reason why I'm leading here, guys and leading
- 8:37Speaker 1: with a lot of the questions, Terry was so nice enough.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Terry had a few mini strokes. Am I saying it right? Recently?
- 8:46Speaker 1: But you've recovered. I can understand you. I could talk
- 8:49Speaker 1: to you. I first thought I was really nervous for you,
- 8:51Speaker 1: but I told me. We even rushed in the interview.
- 8:54Speaker 1: You wanted to come in town. I said, come on,
- 8:55Speaker 1: let's go. So that's why I'm like leading based on
- 8:58Speaker 1: stuff I read, basely talked the base on stuff we
- 9:00Speaker 1: talked about. So I want to know when did you
- 9:06Speaker 1: start gambling to a level that is life changing for
- 9:09Speaker 1: most of us people? So when did you? Did you?
- 9:13Speaker 1: Is there a local casino by your house that people
- 9:16Speaker 1: I started online?
- 9:18Speaker 2: Right? Yeah? So it was the fit and they.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Yel credit for three said oh wow, right, and I
- 9:35Speaker 3: was paid in two days?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Wow fifty thousand, Yeah, and you paid it in two days? Okay?
- 9:42Speaker 1: Did did did you say online gambling?
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah? In two thousand, Yes, that's when it just came about.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I guess I didn't even realize.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Oh, they had, they had they had the bookmakers for
- 9:53Speaker 1: I was playing back in the nineties, so I know
- 9:55Speaker 1: that at sites, and I guess they had online casinos.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I don't know if I trust.
- 9:59Speaker 5: Them blackjack online or slut wow wow?
- 10:06Speaker 2: What do you what do you think? What do you think?
- 10:07Speaker 1: You remember boxing? They used to have this big Every
- 10:11Speaker 1: ring had a golden golden that's it, golden something they
- 10:14Speaker 1: put on their back, their back, golden at the bottom
- 10:17Speaker 1: of their shoes because they went there they get knocked out.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I can't think of it. Golden, that's right, golden something golden.
- 10:23Speaker 1: One of the viewers are gonna know. I'm gonna look
- 10:24Speaker 1: it up right now, are you okay? I have to know. Yeah. No,
- 10:27Speaker 1: that was a big one. So that was around two thousands.
- 10:29Speaker 1: So what was your losses to the online sites?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Do you think? Probably thirty million?
- 10:35Speaker 1: You lost three million, thirty million? Yeah, I hate to
- 10:39Speaker 1: say it. I mean, these guys, I just don't know
- 10:43Speaker 1: back then, how can they have been on the up
- 10:46Speaker 1: and up. I mean I'm just saying like, like, I
- 10:49Speaker 1: don't know, I can't trust online gambling. I don't know
- 10:52Speaker 1: if it's being done and here, if it's the golden
- 10:55Speaker 1: Palace was right, and then we're not saying it was
- 10:57Speaker 1: Golden Palace. But here cyber space, Costa Rica, I don't
- 11:01Speaker 1: know where it's at. Thirty million dollars he lost. I
- 11:03Speaker 1: did not know that. So this thirty million dollars, So
- 11:06Speaker 1: that really started.
- 11:08Speaker 5: When you lose thirty million at that point? Is does
- 11:11Speaker 5: that hurt you? Or was that time you're making so
- 11:15Speaker 5: much money? It really wasn't that big of the deal.
- 11:18Speaker 6: That's a game.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Wow, John loves gambling. As you can tell, his leg
- 11:24Speaker 1: is shaken, he's starting to drool, he's ready to roll. Sorry,
- 11:29Speaker 1: but let's.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Let's get to the real number.
- 11:33Speaker 1: What do you think you lost lifetime gambling including that
- 11:37Speaker 1: thirty million, three and fifty million. The bulk of that
- 11:45Speaker 1: probably to the Seizures Corporation, the Seizures Corporation, and that
- 11:49Speaker 1: was in two and a half years.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yes, wow, that's just no one.
- 11:53Speaker 3: People you were living here at the time, or are
- 11:56Speaker 3: still living in the suite, living in a suite on property.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Matter of fact, in two thousand and seven, Caesar's Corporation
- 12:04Speaker 1: said five point six of its entire gambling revenue came
- 12:10Speaker 1: from you alone. Yes, of their entire money came from
- 12:15Speaker 1: Terry Wantanabi. I don't think anyone else has ever done
- 12:18Speaker 1: anything like that. There's and it can't happen now with
- 12:22Speaker 1: the everyone wants to make sure that they have the
- 12:24Speaker 1: new laws in effect now. But when you first started
- 12:27Speaker 1: coming to town gambling, what was the casino of your choice?
- 12:32Speaker 2: It wasn't What did you say? The win?
- 12:35Speaker 1: I still think the win's the best place in town.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I really do it. Even though I was playing some
- 12:40Speaker 1: slots in the video poker in there and they stopped
- 12:42Speaker 1: me from getting a deal, so I don't play. I'm
- 12:44Speaker 1: allowed to play, but I still put the win on
- 12:46Speaker 1: a pedestal.
- 12:46Speaker 2: The win is in a class by itself. I love
- 12:48Speaker 2: the win.
- 12:49Speaker 1: And now you were gambling there, staying in probably one
- 12:53Speaker 1: of the most beautiful rooms. They have such unbelievable rooms,
- 12:56Speaker 1: their their tower suits there. I'm sure you weren't even
- 12:59Speaker 1: staying there. You were place thinking about a golf course.
- 13:00Speaker 1: What are those the villas? Yeah, over the whole Oh
- 13:04Speaker 1: my god, eighteenth holler right, I mean that is a
- 13:07Speaker 1: I've been there. I've been back there. It's just absolutely gorgeous.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I've eaten the country club. Uh, really nice back there,
- 13:12Speaker 1: and you.
- 13:12Speaker 6: Lived in the villa, Yes, for an extended time.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Months, Terry, you never invited us, No, so you lived
- 13:24Speaker 1: there for eight months in the villa. You're gambling to
- 13:27Speaker 1: a point where sometimes you're having a million dollars swings
- 13:30Speaker 1: in a day, obviously, millions and millions. And Steve went
- 13:34Speaker 1: himself because you were drinking and your drink of choice
- 13:38Speaker 1: was a Russian baka. Is that jewel of Russia? Jewel
- 13:42Speaker 1: of Russia? And I'm sure you have plenty of that there,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and they Steve went himself actually said, Terry, you're you're
- 13:50Speaker 1: you're you're drinking a lot, right, tell us what you're
- 13:53Speaker 1: you had?
- 13:54Speaker 2: I'm there, we go.
- 13:55Speaker 7: What is this?
- 13:56Speaker 2: Okay?
- 13:57Speaker 1: Oh? Losing the wind? Wow? Look look me in the eyes,
- 14:00Speaker 1: young man, A sixty four year old Steve Win growled.
- 14:04Speaker 1: At first, I wondered if he caught me staring at
- 14:06Speaker 1: his face, a smooth orange mask like an apple doll,
- 14:11Speaker 1: pulled taut touts. Then I remembered plastic surgery, notwithstanding mister
- 14:16Speaker 1: Wynn was nearly blind.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Okay, you know I met Steve Win twice.
- 14:20Speaker 1: The first time I met him he had a dog
- 14:22Speaker 1: with him at the mirage. The second time he had
- 14:26Speaker 1: someone when he was blind. So when you marry was
- 14:28Speaker 1: blind blind early, he went blindly.
- 14:30Speaker 5: Even when they were building the mirage, they tore the
- 14:33Speaker 5: carpets up.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Really a bunch of times, really.
- 14:35Speaker 6: Because he changed his mind.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Whatever. Just now, is this you talking? This is my
- 14:41Speaker 2: part of my book? Oh it is just for your book. Okay.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I am looking you in the eyes, sir, I replied diplomatically.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I'm twenty years older than you. I deserve that respect.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Now was my turn to take a front. I'm Japanese.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I know a thing or two about respecting my elders.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I do respect you, sir, but my words didn't matter.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Steve Winn was angry about what I, his latest whale
- 15:02Speaker 1: and residence, had done, specifically the showy, reckless way I
- 15:07Speaker 1: was gambling all over town and the drunken, drugged mess
- 15:11Speaker 1: I was becoming before his eyes. I disgusted him. I
- 15:14Speaker 1: shamed him the way an Eron's son would shame my father.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Maybe this was rebellion I never had in my childhood.
- 15:23Speaker 1: That's really good. That's right. I'm glad you let me
- 15:26Speaker 1: read this.
- 15:27Speaker 2: This was really good.
- 15:28Speaker 1: But Steve actually was was good to you, though you
- 15:33Speaker 1: think in the end, like thinking about what Steve did. Yeah,
- 15:37Speaker 1: you he was looking out for you. He Actually, I
- 15:39Speaker 1: can't believe coming in today, I was thinking about Steve
- 15:42Speaker 1: winn so his jobs to beat people in the casino.
- 15:46Speaker 6: It was something that I think he knew. It wasn't
- 15:49Speaker 6: a fair fight, right because I think.
- 15:52Speaker 1: We were playing drinker was out of control? Drugs, drugs attic.
- 15:56Speaker 1: You didn't do drugs in the casino.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Though, right? Oh? Yes you did?
- 16:01Speaker 6: You mean while he was playing?
- 16:03Speaker 1: Yeah, like not pulling out some coke because not the
- 16:06Speaker 1: table now on the bathroom? Yeah, okay, okay, not a
- 16:09Speaker 1: table not no, But listen, you never know what. But
- 16:13Speaker 1: you don't know what these casinos will allow and say
- 16:15Speaker 1: they didn't see that, you know?
- 16:18Speaker 2: And uh so, so yeah, go ahead.
- 16:20Speaker 5: John, Would you say that the drinking and the drugs?
- 16:26Speaker 5: What what was the bigger problem drinking in the drugs
- 16:28Speaker 5: or the gamming? Obviously the two together, But but for you, like,
- 16:32Speaker 5: had you never done drugs or you never drank? Do
- 16:35Speaker 5: you think you still lose three hundred million dollars if
- 16:39Speaker 5: you never were drinking?
- 16:42Speaker 1: Wow?
- 16:43Speaker 2: Okay?
- 16:46Speaker 1: Did you drink and do drugs back home in Nebraska? Oh?
- 16:51Speaker 1: You did? Okay, so it did you start out here?
- 16:53Speaker 1: All right, so we won't blame the casinos for that.
- 16:55Speaker 1: So he was doing it back home? Yeah, what do you? Yes? Sure,
- 16:59Speaker 1: please do So.
- 17:01Speaker 8: Terry had no problem drugging himself, okay, But then he
- 17:05Speaker 8: had a personal security detail where he was allowed to
- 17:11Speaker 8: pick and choose her at Harris sorry.
- 17:17Speaker 1: It might have been the Harrist Corporation back then.
- 17:20Speaker 9: So he was allowed to pick and choose which bodyguards
- 17:24Speaker 9: he wanted, and they would continuously bring him up flower
- 17:28Speaker 9: times by the thousands.
- 17:30Speaker 2: You know, they were excited me.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Every two weeks they or to interview security guards who
- 17:38Speaker 3: would tyfinitely coke would rolls.
- 17:44Speaker 2: It masin to stick here of.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Me and drugging you more than This is so hard
- 17:52Speaker 1: to believe.
- 17:53Speaker 3: But like in September of two thousand and seven, I
- 17:57Speaker 3: had fallen in the sewer and and I answered sad,
- 18:02Speaker 3: who's yep? And a bus of Lord Tams like he's better.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Wow, Lord tap is a is a is a pain killer?
- 18:16Speaker 2: I heard of it.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I just don't it's it's an opioid that's an illegal
- 18:19Speaker 1: drug without being prescribed. Well so, and this blows me away.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 18:25Speaker 6: Gods, you were probably taking care of them.
- 18:27Speaker 5: They taking care of you or what are you gonna
- 18:30Speaker 5: call it, But you were probably tipping them so well, yes,
- 18:32Speaker 5: they would have done.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Anything for you, right, yeah, yeah, that's another thing. You've
- 18:37Speaker 1: been known to tip millions and millions of dollars. I
- 18:41Speaker 1: heard you paid people's houses off. Is that true?
- 18:44Speaker 2: Yes? Yes, I heard that.
- 18:47Speaker 6: I was you.
- 18:47Speaker 1: You were you were what you know out here in
- 18:49Speaker 1: the desert as George Triple George. You know you were
- 18:53Speaker 1: very good with the money and tipping, and you know, casinos,
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'm sure you probably know this, but I don't know
- 18:59Speaker 1: if I never told you this. Casinos don't really like
- 19:03Speaker 1: when you're tipping big amounts of money. That's right, casino staff,
- 19:06Speaker 1: the management up as the higher you go, the stronger
- 19:11Speaker 1: they are against tipping. Why they can't get the money back.
- 19:15Speaker 1: It's in the box. They can never get that money
- 19:18Speaker 1: back for them in the house and their company.
- 19:21Speaker 2: It's in the box. The dealers love it. Tope Ray
- 19:24Speaker 2: goes up high.
- 19:26Speaker 1: But also mister Wynn came to you and said, you know, basically,
- 19:32Speaker 1: you're taking care of my employee. I don't know this.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I'm not putting more than in your mouth here. I
- 19:36Speaker 2: want you to tell me.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Did he say you were taking care of his employees
- 19:39Speaker 1: too too well? Am I using the right wording?
- 19:41Speaker 2: Yes, gambling?
- 19:43Speaker 1: Or you were taking about gambling. Yes, you were taking
- 19:48Speaker 1: the dealers out gambling. Yeah, this is my kind of guy.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I did not know that. I didn't know that. I
- 19:53Speaker 1: didn't read that anywhere, but I just thought they were.
- 19:55Speaker 1: So you're seen around town with the deal with the
- 19:59Speaker 1: other dealers, and they're probably not supposed to go out
- 20:01Speaker 1: with the customers, but it's so hard not to go
- 20:03Speaker 1: out with a Terry Wantonabi for sure.
- 20:05Speaker 2: You know, he's so nice to people.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never heard that you were rude to anybody,
- 20:11Speaker 1: even under these drunken, drugged steaks. I never heard you
- 20:13Speaker 1: were bit you were rude to people and stuff and so,
- 20:16Speaker 1: but I know you gave away millions of dollars. You're
- 20:19Speaker 1: talking one guy stole eleven million back home. How many
- 20:22Speaker 1: tens of millions out here did you give away? I mean,
- 20:25Speaker 1: it must have been ridiculous. I met someone that you
- 20:27Speaker 1: paid his house off. Nice guy.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Probably thirty million, thirty million, Yeah, I met someone.
- 20:33Speaker 6: Was that Also?
- 20:34Speaker 5: Part of the fun for you is like knowing you're
- 20:36Speaker 5: changing people's lives. Wouldn't tip like that or paying some
- 20:40Speaker 5: mortgage off?
- 20:41Speaker 1: Yes?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Isn't that nice?
- 20:43Speaker 1: Isn't that nice? I mean, seriously, I love when I
- 20:45Speaker 1: give one hundred dollars to a pregnant waitress that's working still. Yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 1: Benjamin having one hundred thousand dollars mortgages right in their
- 20:51Speaker 1: pay your mortgage. Yeah, yeah, you should.
- 20:54Speaker 6: Tip twenty five thousand dollars trips to people in the elevator.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Twenty five dollars. You gave twenty five thousand to someone
- 21:00Speaker 1: in the elevator. Oh not just one, not just one,
- 21:04Speaker 1: just giving them chips. Yeah, well, I mean you probably didn't.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Twenty five k to you is nothing back then, now.
- 21:12Speaker 1: You you were betting in upwards of four hundred thousand
- 21:15Speaker 1: dollars a hand. Sometimes it's so hard to believe because
- 21:19Speaker 1: you know, we know Dana White today, he's betting four
- 21:21Speaker 1: hundred thousand and a hand, right, and this is eighteen
- 21:23Speaker 1: years ago. Like they would take that much money off you,
- 21:26Speaker 1: that's so hard to believe that you must have been
- 21:28Speaker 1: losing so much money that they raised your limit. That
- 21:31Speaker 1: has to be at Bacara. Can't be blackjack bakara, But blackjack,
- 21:35Speaker 1: I seen a limit, and that's what I thought. I
- 21:37Speaker 1: thought that was your biggest bet, fifty thousand a hand
- 21:40Speaker 1: on three hands. But I know they were giving you that,
- 21:42Speaker 1: But bakara, that were giving you that kind of these
- 21:44Speaker 1: swings had to be crazy. What's the most you think
- 21:47Speaker 1: you ever won or lost in a session? Probably two
- 21:53Speaker 1: well two million would be only four bets, it would
- 21:55Speaker 1: be only five bets in. But however, that came later
- 21:58Speaker 1: in life. I know I see because I see you later.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I'm saying later in your gambling career, did not open
- 22:04Speaker 1: you up and say hey you can bat four hundred thousand.
- 22:06Speaker 1: That was after they knew you were in this state.
- 22:08Speaker 1: You were a loser. You were losing your.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Money, lose ony RIGHTDP Oh wow, okay, so yeah, were you.
- 22:20Speaker 5: Pleased at the table for like five, six, seven, eight
- 22:22Speaker 5: hours at a time or yes, yeah all night.
- 22:27Speaker 2: I read that you did a twenty four hour session.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I did, Wow.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Wow, you're John Tiro. Yeah, twenty four hours. Wow.
- 22:37Speaker 2: So that'll keep that.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Drugs keep you up, like like an adderall or something
- 22:41Speaker 1: that will keep you up, keep you going. But it
- 22:43Speaker 1: was cocaine was your drug of choice. That kept you
- 22:46Speaker 1: going at Caesar's. The top level card is seven star.
- 22:50Speaker 1: That's the top level.
- 22:51Speaker 6: You were telling me this, this is amazing.
- 22:53Speaker 1: They created a one of one card just for you,
- 22:57Speaker 1: a chairman's card. What you you know, you're very nice
- 23:01Speaker 1: to you. You told me you were gonna send me
- 23:02Speaker 1: one of them. You have like six of them home.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I'll put I'll put it on my socials. I mean,
- 23:07Speaker 1: nobody has this card. It's one of one, just created
- 23:10Speaker 1: for you. But it didn't come out any perts that
- 23:12Speaker 1: you didn't already have. I mean you had everything you want, Like,
- 23:16Speaker 1: did you ever ask for something and they turned you down?
- 23:21Speaker 2: Never?
- 23:21Speaker 1: Never?
- 23:22Speaker 6: That?
- 23:22Speaker 1: That was a very fast never Tarry. Yeah, but you're
- 23:25Speaker 1: pretty low made. And that was a dinner with you
- 23:27Speaker 1: last night, breakfast with you. I could see your pretty
- 23:30Speaker 1: low maintenance psych comp request and stuff. But you did
- 23:33Speaker 1: get unbelievable comps.
- 23:34Speaker 5: That's sober Terry. It was was drunk and high Terry.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Uh did you get outlandish with the requests?
- 23:43Speaker 1: Not really?
- 23:43Speaker 2: I don't right right? Didn't you get Tiffany gift cards?
- 23:48Speaker 1: Once? Yes? And I invited them a half million, half
- 23:53Speaker 1: a million dollars. I've seen that half a million dollars
- 23:55Speaker 1: at a time. And Tiffany gift cards. They gifted them
- 23:58Speaker 1: to you from the casino. Right, Oh, you bought them.
- 24:02Speaker 1: You bought the gift cards and gave them away to people.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:07Speaker 6: Wow, it's amazing. It's just amazing you got me.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Uh.
- 24:12Speaker 1: It saddens me because I know the way Terry is today,
- 24:14Speaker 1: So it saddens me that you were so good to people.
- 24:18Speaker 1: And I judge a lot of people on how they
- 24:20Speaker 1: are to others. That's just the way I grew up.
- 24:23Speaker 1: How about the In and Out Burger that you made
- 24:25Speaker 1: stay open? You made them reopen at like what four
- 24:29Speaker 1: in the morning or something three in the morning. Yes,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and you made them you offered them. How much money
- 24:34Speaker 1: did you just offer them to open? You're fifty thousands, right,
- 24:39Speaker 1: so you offer an edit out burger. I need some
- 24:41Speaker 1: burgers fifty thousand to open. But you bought burgers for
- 24:46Speaker 1: like the dealers, right, you did to bring them back
- 24:49Speaker 1: or something. Wow, you brought them back for the staff.
- 24:52Speaker 1: At least you got a burger fifty thousand out of it. Wow,
- 24:55Speaker 1: it's great. I love I love stuff like that. You
- 24:57Speaker 1: give me twenty five thousand people in the elevator. You're
- 24:59Speaker 1: gonna offer the the owner of it is not fifty
- 25:01Speaker 1: thousand over and they opened for you too. Now this
- 25:05Speaker 1: I found very interesting last night slot machines. I didn't
- 25:10Speaker 1: think you really even played. Now I hear the thirty
- 25:12Speaker 1: million you lost. What was your biggest win playing a
- 25:15Speaker 1: slot machine? Million two point six eight million? How much
- 25:20Speaker 1: your spin is that? Uh?
- 25:23Speaker 2: Thousand thousand dollars? Wow?
- 25:25Speaker 1: Two point You hit like the jackpot and.
- 25:27Speaker 2: They hit twice ten days, twice and twice in ten days.
- 25:31Speaker 6: Hit the six hours of spin. I mean you can
- 25:33Speaker 6: rack that up if you're not winning.
- 25:35Speaker 1: If you're not winning, I'm glad John didn't say that's
- 25:39Speaker 1: a good deal. Maybe I'll start if I can get
- 25:40Speaker 1: into that. Yeah, same machine, same machine, that's unbelievable. The
- 25:44Speaker 1: same machine at Caesars. Wow.
- 25:47Speaker 6: He thought that they had a remote.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Well to make him win, to give him a little bonus,
- 25:52Speaker 1: just to keep him there going. Wow.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Two points.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Your main game was blackjack and Bakara, Yes, but you
- 25:59Speaker 5: dabbled and slots roulette also.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Yes, different carnival games. The carnival games. You know, that's
- 26:06Speaker 1: something i'd ever talked about. Probably where I started thinking
- 26:08Speaker 1: about it, we used to have these feasts. There was
- 26:11Speaker 1: one in New York in New York City, which is
- 26:14Speaker 1: the big one everyone knows, but on Mulberry Street. But
- 26:18Speaker 1: there was one of the Bronx too, and the one
- 26:20Speaker 1: in the Bronx they have the church has deals, Blackjacks
- 26:23Speaker 1: and and different carnival games.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Guess this get it's all for money.
- 26:27Speaker 1: So that's probably my first real table game experience was
- 26:31Speaker 1: at the feast and you had those type of inter
- 26:34Speaker 1: and you know, you had those interactions at back home
- 26:38Speaker 1: with that a table in the carnival games or you're
- 26:40Speaker 1: saying the carnival games were ones in the casino hed War?
- 26:46Speaker 6: Did they have War yet?
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 26:49Speaker 6: You know, did you play War too?
- 26:50Speaker 1: Or no? I know, I would think you'd want that one,
- 26:53Speaker 1: so you played some of the other ones. Yeah, I
- 26:55Speaker 1: misunderstood you. I think you meant carnival games like in
- 26:57Speaker 1: the you know, that's where I first started to learn there.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I read this came from one of the one of
- 27:04Speaker 1: the guys on Twitter that I asked too for I
- 27:05Speaker 1: asked to help for questions. Did you feel compelled to
- 27:10Speaker 1: ever stop and say I have to stop, I have
- 27:13Speaker 1: to stop this, And you know I've lost half my
- 27:16Speaker 1: fortune or a third of my fortune. Here, I'm really
- 27:18Speaker 1: hurting by this one year sober? You think of these
- 27:20Speaker 1: things on the plane flying back whatever? Did you ever
- 27:23Speaker 1: say I'm stopping?
- 27:25Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 27:25Speaker 3: When I in two thousand and seven, when I thought
- 27:27Speaker 3: I was zyting from the drugs and the alcohola I
- 27:33Speaker 3: said to myself.
- 27:34Speaker 1: So I can't deal with this. Oh wow, your sister
- 27:38Speaker 1: you get told us? Yeah wow. Did she say let's
- 27:41Speaker 1: get into gamblers anonymous or alcohol and something like that?
- 27:45Speaker 2: Family intervention? It sounds like a little bit, so I said,
- 27:51Speaker 2: and went to rehimb. Okay, but this is twelve rehimb
- 27:55Speaker 2: so twelve you've been the twelve.
- 27:57Speaker 6: Yeah, the longest stretch was eighteen months. And that was
- 28:01Speaker 6: the last time.
- 28:03Speaker 2: When when you go to rehab, do you live there? Yes? Okay?
- 28:07Speaker 1: And they work on many different points and the different
- 28:11Speaker 1: different things.
- 28:16Speaker 5: Was the rehab for drugs and drinking and the gambling
- 28:20Speaker 5: or just the drugs and drinking.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Jameson and they touched to the amien. It was Benny Ford.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Uh, this is what I was going to say before
- 28:30Speaker 1: I read where you'd like others to know your story
- 28:35Speaker 1: because maybe that'll help them on a smaller level, because yes,
- 28:41Speaker 1: it's a little bit embarrassing telling telling the stories. John
- 28:44Speaker 1: told you a story last night, I told you a
- 28:46Speaker 1: story today. We all had our little gambling, degenerate things
- 28:49Speaker 1: when we were younger, but to tell it publicly, you're
- 28:53Speaker 1: looking to help people on a smaller level.
- 28:57Speaker 2: It can't happen on your level no more.
- 28:59Speaker 1: You know that level because of these they have this
- 29:01Speaker 1: KYC laws.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Now know your customer.
- 29:03Speaker 1: One of our other interviews, Matt Boyer probably started pushing
- 29:07Speaker 1: that issue because of what happened to him. That was
- 29:09Speaker 1: the Otani's assistant bookmaker. But now it's the under ten
- 29:15Speaker 1: k person that we're trying to reach a little bit.
- 29:20Speaker 1: That's the lifeblood of the casino too, So we're trying
- 29:22Speaker 1: to reach them because they just grind them to death.
- 29:24Speaker 2: The guys that work every week and.
- 29:26Speaker 1: They really get hurt and they you know, make it
- 29:28Speaker 1: two thousand a week, a thousand a week, and they
- 29:30Speaker 1: go to the casino and they chase it. They call
- 29:32Speaker 1: out of work, they do this, and now they lie
- 29:33Speaker 1: to their families. That's the people we want to reach
- 29:37Speaker 1: here today because that is because because of the person
- 29:41Speaker 1: you are, you want to let them know your story,
- 29:43Speaker 1: so it can happen to anybody on any level.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Really, I mean they could you know you mentioned Matt Boyer.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Yeah, people in the comments when we post the clips
- 29:55Speaker 4: about Otawni's interpreter's Booky, they would say things like because
- 30:00Speaker 4: he just went off to prison a couple of days.
- 30:02Speaker 5: Ago, this this week, for for six months and months
- 30:05Speaker 5: whatever it is. And a lot of people in the
- 30:08Speaker 5: comments are saying like, I don't feel sorry.
- 30:10Speaker 2: For you, you know what, blah blah blah.
- 30:13Speaker 6: Now what you were doing was not illegal gambling.
- 30:17Speaker 5: But there's probably gonna be people when they see clips
- 30:19Speaker 5: and they and our caption says, you know this, this
- 30:22Speaker 5: man lost three hundred million sure gambling, And there's people
- 30:26Speaker 5: that are gonna say, well, you deserve it, you've you've
- 30:28Speaker 5: scred it up or whatever.
- 30:31Speaker 6: How does that make you feel when that is someone's perspective,
- 30:36Speaker 6: It sends me.
- 30:38Speaker 1: It s.
- 30:42Speaker 2: That's right. Everyone has their opinion. And then, honestly, just anre,
- 30:47Speaker 2: I have a policy of block and move. I block.
- 30:49Speaker 2: I don't argue with too many people. I block and move.
- 30:53Speaker 1: We're all gonna have haters. J and J watering Hole.
- 30:57Speaker 1: This is a good, good one of my good followers.
- 30:59Speaker 1: At what point did you realize you could never fight
- 31:03Speaker 1: enough to get it back. Did you ever say I
- 31:05Speaker 1: just can't, I can't do it, I can't do it.
- 31:09Speaker 1: It wasn't the time you probably answered this question around
- 31:11Speaker 1: asking in a different way. It probably was the time
- 31:14Speaker 1: that you actually faced your sister and told her yes, yeah,
- 31:17Speaker 1: and and.
- 31:18Speaker 6: And did she have no idea? She knew you were gambled,
- 31:23Speaker 6: but she didn't realize the dollar amounts.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Wow.
- 31:27Speaker 6: And so at some point you had to just come
- 31:29Speaker 6: clean and tell her because all the money was gone, right, Wow?
- 31:34Speaker 1: What's going on, buddy, Randy McKay Uh we uh we
- 31:39Speaker 1: we got we got a little prop on the show.
- 31:41Speaker 7: I've seen you have with the hat. What was that
- 31:43Speaker 7: in the background I've seen just now.
- 31:46Speaker 10: Yeah, I gotta get out last two out of three
- 31:48Speaker 10: weeks here, gotta get out the broom.
- 31:51Speaker 7: Oh boy, you know what happened to do that? You
- 31:54Speaker 7: can't get wow? Wow, Well you can't get cocky on us, No,
- 31:58Speaker 7: I'm just kidding.
- 31:59Speaker 10: Really, a little shout out. We're gonna give a little
- 32:02Speaker 10: shout out to a friend of ours that's been watching
- 32:05Speaker 10: the show from Kingman, Arizona. I met him in the casino.
- 32:07Speaker 7: Keith nice Keith.
- 32:10Speaker 10: And said, said hi and loves the show. I met
- 32:14Speaker 10: a couple of them down here.
- 32:15Speaker 1: You're gonna meet a couple people ask me when, not now,
- 32:18Speaker 1: but you know they're gonna ask now because you're three
- 32:20Speaker 1: and oh when you're owing.
- 32:21Speaker 7: Three, there's a question. Where's that fucking Randy at curse?
- 32:28Speaker 7: Damn it? I never cursed. All right, Randy, what do
- 32:31Speaker 7: you got this week?
- 32:32Speaker 10: All right? First pick? Go the ugly Bowl here, battle
- 32:36Speaker 10: of one win teams here, Gonna take the Miami Dolphins.
- 32:40Speaker 10: Plus three line just went up. Was two and a
- 32:44Speaker 10: half on the opener. Some sharks maybe like Cleveland.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Like the defense Miami Dolphins. Plus three is your first pick? Yeah, okay,
- 32:53Speaker 1: plus three minus a dollar twenty I'm looking plus three
- 32:58Speaker 1: minus a dollar twenty two, So I am. You can
- 33:01Speaker 1: still get a couple of books in far away places,
- 33:04Speaker 1: so soft point.
- 33:05Speaker 10: I believe had three there for a while.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Okay, local, one of the local spots in town has it.
- 33:12Speaker 1: You know you can there there is there is. We
- 33:15Speaker 1: have to pay some juice, so we'll go plus three
- 33:17Speaker 1: minus a quarter. Okay, I's a ugrade that one.
- 33:19Speaker 7: What's the next one?
- 33:20Speaker 10: All right. Well, if you want to break down on
- 33:22Speaker 10: the game, I.
- 33:23Speaker 7: Trust yeah, go ahead.
- 33:24Speaker 10: Two in the Miami offense here a little bit more
- 33:27Speaker 10: than this. Uh, you get a battle of left two
- 33:29Speaker 10: left handed quarterbacks. Very very seldom you see two left
- 33:32Speaker 10: handed quarterbacks starting. So I trust two in the Miami
- 33:37Speaker 10: offense to get a little bit more offense. This should
- 33:40Speaker 10: be a low scoring game. Cleveland defense has been oppressive,
- 33:43Speaker 10: but they usually get worn out in the second halves
- 33:47Speaker 10: because their offense doesn't do anything like they did against Predictably.
- 33:51Speaker 10: I called it last week against the Steelers, So I
- 33:54Speaker 10: see this another spot where a team shouldn't be favored.
- 33:58Speaker 10: You know, getting a full field goal here is pretty
- 34:00Speaker 10: pretty key in a low total.
- 34:02Speaker 7: Okay, cool, all right, what's the next one?
- 34:05Speaker 1: Uh?
- 34:06Speaker 10: The LA Chargers up to one and a half? I
- 34:08Speaker 10: did I had this earlier, but I'll give out one and.
- 34:11Speaker 7: A half's one and a half everywhere.
- 34:13Speaker 10: Yeah, I laid the one. I laid the one opener.
- 34:17Speaker 10: You know, the Colts have been impressive, but they're coming
- 34:20Speaker 10: off a big home winning streak and now having to
- 34:22Speaker 10: go on the road. Here is a little tougher spot,
- 34:26Speaker 10: and they should This Charger team should get some of
- 34:29Speaker 10: their starters back. They've been a little injured up. They
- 34:32Speaker 10: might get two offensive linemen back. You know, we saw
- 34:35Speaker 10: a similar spot with the Colts going into the Rams
- 34:38Speaker 10: a couple of weeks ago, where they lost by seven
- 34:40Speaker 10: on the same field. I could see a similar game
- 34:43Speaker 10: like that one, you know. So I favor the Chargers
- 34:47Speaker 10: a little better defense here that the Colts are facing.
- 34:50Speaker 10: I like this Chargers defense to get us the win
- 34:53Speaker 10: and get us a cover and a line that I
- 34:55Speaker 10: think is too low.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Okay, great, good deal. I know, syndicate against you, but
- 35:00Speaker 1: that's okay. Yeah, you're the syndicate man.
- 35:02Speaker 7: You're killing them. What's the next one?
- 35:04Speaker 10: Yeah, Sindigan was against me in that total last week too,
- 35:07Speaker 10: and uh oh they were away against you with the
- 35:09Speaker 10: under Yeah, that didn't have much of a chance for them.
- 35:12Speaker 10: They might they might need to re sharpen their model
- 35:14Speaker 10: otherwise they're gonna get rinsed.
- 35:16Speaker 7: That's all right.
- 35:19Speaker 10: We did a grad des a unfortunately, but we'll talk. Well,
- 35:22Speaker 10: that's the other day, all right. Last one Seattle minus
- 35:27Speaker 10: three I got it at Draft Kings.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Maybe not available in US minus three minus sixteen right
- 35:33Speaker 1: here circle minus three minus fifteen Caesar's minus three minus fifteen.
- 35:39Speaker 1: So we're gonna grade that minus three minus fifteen. Three
- 35:41Speaker 1: different books in town have it. What's the reasoning behind that?
- 35:44Speaker 10: Yeah, by the week came at the wrong time here,
- 35:47Speaker 10: I think for Houston, you know, coming off the two wins,
- 35:50Speaker 10: you know, they only had to face like half the
- 35:52Speaker 10: Ravens team there, and they're big win at Baltimore. They
- 35:55Speaker 10: looked impressive, but you know that was against the second
- 35:59Speaker 10: second string. You know, this offensive line for Houston is
- 36:03Speaker 10: one of the worst in the league. Going into a
- 36:06Speaker 10: tough Monday night environment there in Seattle, I think they'll
- 36:09Speaker 10: get exposed against the Seattle defense line that's one of
- 36:13Speaker 10: the strongest in the NFL. So I see a lot
- 36:15Speaker 10: of problems for them on offense. On the other side,
- 36:19Speaker 10: I'm impressed by Seattle and in the offense with this
- 36:22Speaker 10: new quarterback Darnold that they got from the Vikings, you know,
- 36:25Speaker 10: big free agents signing. You know, he's hooking up good
- 36:28Speaker 10: with that receiver in Jigba, So I see that being
- 36:31Speaker 10: a strong combination there to crack. You know, Houston has
- 36:34Speaker 10: a good defense, but I think Seattle have a little
- 36:37Speaker 10: bit more offense here and be able to cover this
- 36:39Speaker 10: minus three spread.
- 36:41Speaker 1: All right, Randy, good job, and let's see what happens here.
- 36:44Speaker 1: That same syndicates is against you. Though they gave me
- 36:46Speaker 1: six games this morning. They're on Houston plus three and
- 36:49Speaker 1: a half. It's very interesting that you could two against it,
- 36:53Speaker 1: the battle of the syndicates.
- 36:55Speaker 7: All right, what we appreciate it. We'll see you next week.
- 36:57Speaker 10: All right, all right, thanks Bill, good luck, every runny
- 37:00Speaker 10: out there.
- 37:01Speaker 7: Good deal.
- 37:02Speaker 1: All right, guys, quick segment here for wager Wire. This
- 37:05Speaker 1: is just an amazing five dollars Barlay Florida. They want
- 37:10Speaker 1: already plus three twenty Rory McElroy plus seven to one.
- 37:14Speaker 1: He won Scheffler, he won plus three eighty. Now you
- 37:18Speaker 1: need the Dodgers, which was plus two forty originally five
- 37:21Speaker 1: bucks to win twenty seven forty one. Right away, I'll
- 37:24Speaker 1: say the Dodgers are playing so good. You can't cash
- 37:26Speaker 1: out until I seen the website offers you twelve oh five.
- 37:30Speaker 1: The site that he bet with the wager Wire seventeen
- 37:35Speaker 1: twenty six. Well, now you may want to take a
- 37:39Speaker 1: little percentage back, lock up some money for yourself. Let
- 37:43Speaker 1: me lock up twenty five percent. I usually don't want
- 37:47Speaker 1: to take a buyout. But I'll tell you what of
- 37:50Speaker 1: the seventeen twenty six if I could take like four
- 37:53Speaker 1: hundred and twenty five bucks something like that, four hundred
- 37:55Speaker 1: and fifty bucks, I would probably take a percentage of that,
- 38:00Speaker 1: even though I do think is the profit here talking
- 38:02Speaker 1: about another thousand dollars five bucks.
- 38:04Speaker 7: To twenty seven forty one. All these kind of lovers
- 38:07Speaker 7: are more, of course, the wager Wire, wadger Wire app
- 38:10Speaker 7: and wagerwire.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Dot com orfer Jill much more than the sports books themselves.
- 38:15Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 38:16Speaker 2: This is a little bit long question, but I like it.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I'd love to know about the remorse but then having
- 38:22Speaker 1: the will to jump right back in, Like if I
- 38:24Speaker 1: have a bad stretch, I clear my accounts out, take
- 38:26Speaker 1: a few days off, go back to my process and
- 38:28Speaker 1: try to figure out what's wrong, then get back in slowly.
- 38:31Speaker 2: He's referring to sports betting.
- 38:32Speaker 6: That's a great question.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I know how he must have felt to lose big,
- 38:36Speaker 1: but I'm assuming that he just jumped back in and
- 38:39Speaker 1: tried to make up for it. I love to know
- 38:41Speaker 1: about that thought process and how you go from losing
- 38:44Speaker 1: big and feeling like crap to just throwing more money
- 38:47Speaker 1: at it over and over again.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Stat Logic Sports thank you.
- 38:50Speaker 6: So.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're when you're that flight home, it's like
- 38:55Speaker 1: our drive home. I used to drive home from Atlantic
- 38:57Speaker 1: City back to New York, New Jersey, you know, North Jersey.
- 39:00Speaker 1: That drive home was always tough. I didn't have money
- 39:02Speaker 1: for tolls. Sometimes I would fake the tolls like I'm
- 39:06Speaker 1: paying tolls. You know, we were just we were kids.
- 39:08Speaker 1: We didn't know any better. That flight home, you really
- 39:12Speaker 1: must have had thinking, oh, another twelve million, another thirty million,
- 39:17Speaker 1: another twenty million, and you know it's how do you
- 39:21Speaker 1: go from jumping back in again?
- 39:23Speaker 2: Do you think you're gonna get it back? Do you say, hey,
- 39:25Speaker 2: I'm gonna go get it back from her. I thought
- 39:27Speaker 2: I was gonna be able to eat it.
- 39:29Speaker 1: You did it even though you were so deep you
- 39:32Speaker 1: thought you'd be able to get it, get it back
- 39:34Speaker 1: over and over again.
- 39:35Speaker 5: Yeah, because you know what happens when you're playing blackjack, right,
- 39:38Speaker 5: we've all done it.
- 39:39Speaker 6: Yeah, you you you get the dream hand.
- 39:42Speaker 5: You're betting fifty grand three hands, and you get an
- 39:45Speaker 5: eleven on one, a ten on the other, and the
- 39:48Speaker 5: twenty on one. You double down and you end up
- 39:51Speaker 5: with a twenty twenty and a twenty and dealer has
- 39:54Speaker 5: a six up and yeah, and flips over three and
- 39:58Speaker 5: then like at three being like a five or six
- 40:01Speaker 5: card twenty one.
- 40:01Speaker 1: And then you think, off, I didn't lose that hand, right,
- 40:04Speaker 1: everything would have turned around. They said, really.
- 40:10Speaker 6: Sorry.
- 40:11Speaker 3: The Caesars pulled up. They Mike Crow, the film is right,
- 40:23Speaker 3: and they actually replayed the whole hand.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Wow. Wow, really yeah, you're probably about in fifty thousands
- 40:33Speaker 1: of a card.
- 40:34Speaker 6: So were you playing You're playing double deck? Yes, never
- 40:38Speaker 6: out of the shoe.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yeah, oh wow. How do you know that?
- 40:41Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, that's the better mathematical game to play.
- 40:45Speaker 5: But well, just because when he said they replayed it,
- 40:48Speaker 5: I'm figuring it had to be they wanted to make
- 40:50Speaker 5: sure interesting.
- 40:52Speaker 6: Things were on the up and up instead of just
- 40:54Speaker 6: coming out of the shoe.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Right, yeah, I guess. Yeah, but no, you lost that hand.
- 40:57Speaker 1: You lost that hand. Yes, yeah, this is an interesting question.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Chris Macedonia here, what was your favorite thing to do
- 41:06Speaker 1: in Omaha growing up? Is that where you lived as
- 41:08Speaker 1: a child. Did you do things as a kid where
- 41:10Speaker 1: you sound like you were enamored in the business from
- 41:13Speaker 1: a young child. Five years old? Did you have friends?
- 41:16Speaker 1: You go out and do some things? You went to school?
- 41:18Speaker 2: Which school? We went to school and went to work
- 41:21Speaker 2: after school?
- 41:22Speaker 1: Yes?
- 41:23Speaker 5: What about house stuff? There's one thing that comes to
- 41:25Speaker 5: mind in Omaha. I was hoping that it was going
- 41:26Speaker 5: to be your answer.
- 41:27Speaker 1: What was it? The zoo?
- 41:29Speaker 2: Oh was incredible? Have you ever been there?
- 41:34Speaker 1: Oh? That you're gonna take?
- 41:34Speaker 6: No, you were working.
- 41:37Speaker 2: And he's you under a animals for sal Evans.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Hmm, that's him.
- 41:48Speaker 6: What about like when you have other than the gambling?
- 41:51Speaker 1: Uh?
- 41:52Speaker 6: I think I asked you this last night? What were
- 41:55Speaker 6: your what was the fun stuff.
- 41:56Speaker 1: For you to buy? Like?
- 41:57Speaker 6: Were you a car guy?
- 41:58Speaker 1: Like?
- 41:58Speaker 6: Did you just go buy a Ferrari on a whim?
- 42:02Speaker 2: I would buy cars? I had sixteen? Did you have
- 42:06Speaker 2: sixteen cars?
- 42:07Speaker 1: You had the most expensive house in either Omaha or
- 42:11Speaker 1: Nebraska scene. You had the most expensive house, so you
- 42:15Speaker 1: had a lot of cars there? So you didn't you didn't?
- 42:18Speaker 1: You actually were there enough that you could have all
- 42:21Speaker 1: these cars and stuff. You weren't living here full time?
- 42:24Speaker 5: Yes?
- 42:24Speaker 1: It was really wow. Wow. You know casinos don't want
- 42:29Speaker 1: you to stay them more than thirty days. Now, I
- 42:30Speaker 1: mean you can establish residency these laws. You're telling me
- 42:34Speaker 1: you stayed consecutively though, right without.
- 42:36Speaker 6: More rules for something like they have to write and
- 42:39Speaker 6: it's just there's so much money. Yeah, they figured out
- 42:42Speaker 6: on that.
- 42:43Speaker 1: People asked me, here, Ap White, what's the biggest deal
- 42:46Speaker 1: a casino ever gave in to show up? Up front money,
- 42:49Speaker 1: discount amount, special table rules?
- 42:52Speaker 2: When you came in? Did you get like one hundred
- 42:55Speaker 2: thousand promo chips where here is? Yep, they have it
- 43:00Speaker 2: was eighty different.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Oh wow, so they have they have eighteen different things
- 43:07Speaker 1: they were doing for you, including front up promo chips
- 43:11Speaker 1: and different things like that. And how about your discount?
- 43:15Speaker 1: If you lost two million bucks? Did you get twenty percent?
- 43:18Speaker 1: Did you get that much? Wow?
- 43:20Speaker 6: Did you negotiate that or they was given to me?
- 43:23Speaker 6: They was just giving you. That's what I kind of felt.
- 43:25Speaker 6: I feel like his personality type was just.
- 43:27Speaker 1: But John, to be honest with you, I know what
- 43:30Speaker 1: these casinos give you. Now, maybe it's just now they
- 43:32Speaker 1: give you ten percent and then they'll give you an
- 43:34Speaker 1: early paid discount. They'll give you, but that these are
- 43:39Speaker 1: giant numbers though, like on a million bucks you might
- 43:41Speaker 1: get twenty percent. He's doing thirty five percent. That's unbelievable.
- 43:45Speaker 2: That's how much. Let me be blunts terry.
- 43:48Speaker 1: That's how much they knew that you were going to lose,
- 43:52Speaker 1: that they gave you that kind of a deal. No one,
- 43:54Speaker 1: you can come back. Nobody had that deal. I never
- 43:56Speaker 1: heard anyone get more than twenty percent. Never.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Never.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Maybe they get some money walking in. You get a
- 44:01Speaker 1: three percent discount for paying early. But then again, you
- 44:07Speaker 1: came in with cash. Yes, this wasn't credit. You came in.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Would you used to come in with a ten million
- 44:13Speaker 2: dollar check?
- 44:13Speaker 6: What did you come in with?
- 44:15Speaker 2: I said, wired? Wired?
- 44:21Speaker 1: So of course they're going to give you that that
- 44:23Speaker 1: they're getting the money now.
- 44:26Speaker 2: I don't know if anyone plays like that.
- 44:28Speaker 5: Do you remember, like I guess, was it the final trip?
- 44:33Speaker 5: Like do you remember the moment where like, wow, it's
- 44:37Speaker 5: just all gone.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Yes, there was a time that you said I can't
- 44:45Speaker 1: there's no money.
- 44:46Speaker 6: Yeah, like literally like okay, I lose this hand and
- 44:49Speaker 6: it's over.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Wait you remember that day.
- 44:53Speaker 3: I remember the fact that I the legal gave me
- 45:01Speaker 3: a MOSSI ten million dollars lady granted. Oh okay, and
- 45:09Speaker 3: Harry's the saving of million?
- 45:11Speaker 2: Oh wow, okay, okay, so I like this guy.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Carl asked a question how much of the time was
- 45:17Speaker 1: he enjoying life? Was it long stretches of misery while losing,
- 45:22Speaker 1: or mostly enjoying the ride while he was in it?
- 45:26Speaker 1: Great question, so did you? But it was both wow wow,
- 45:31Speaker 1: Because when you had good wins, you go up to
- 45:33Speaker 1: the room. I would think it's hard to go to sleep.
- 45:37Speaker 1: I actually have had some sessions of video poker where
- 45:41Speaker 1: it was the wind, where I did so well. I
- 45:43Speaker 1: was dealt a hand for a lot of money, a
- 45:45Speaker 1: six hundred and fifty thousand to one shot I got dealt.
- 45:48Speaker 1: And to try to unwind after winning so much, you
- 45:52Speaker 1: have dreams, at least I did. I had actually dreams
- 45:55Speaker 1: of video poker. That's crazy. I don't anymore. Did you
- 45:59Speaker 1: actually have trouble sleeping, especially doing the coke? Did you
- 46:02Speaker 1: have trouble actually sleeping? And they would go to we
- 46:05Speaker 1: do on the Oh my god, you're hitting.
- 46:10Speaker 6: You would be.
- 46:11Speaker 5: Down the gambling millions dollars and then go up to
- 46:16Speaker 5: the room and get online and play Slots's.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Been wady, too unbelievable.
- 46:22Speaker 6: It's your way to unwind. Gamble little more.
- 46:25Speaker 1: If you imagine these these illegal operators off shore. They
- 46:30Speaker 1: must the owners, right, they must have looked at these
- 46:33Speaker 1: accounts and say, oh my god, this wired a million today.
- 46:37Speaker 2: They're set for life because of Terry. I knew nothing
- 46:41Speaker 2: about this.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Then they even have.
- 46:44Speaker 6: Their own only he had his own line item for Harris.
- 46:49Speaker 1: What's that mean when they when they came to do
- 46:52Speaker 1: in their accounting books. Yeah, yeah, five point is what
- 46:58Speaker 1: you're talking about.
- 46:58Speaker 6: That's actually a really good and because otherwise it.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Just gets it gets most, it gets very good. So
- 47:05Speaker 1: they want to know a false sense of your revenue?
- 47:07Speaker 1: What percent? That's exactly right? Yeah, five point six percent? Wow, Wow,
- 47:13Speaker 1: that's interesting.
- 47:14Speaker 5: They need to know exactly what came from Terry because
- 47:17Speaker 5: you don't know where you're at otherwise in business.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Terry one person that has at bank roll management.
- 47:22Speaker 2: I just don't know.
- 47:24Speaker 1: I don't know. Like when you go in there, you
- 47:26Speaker 1: send ten million in, you can't bet fifty thousand. That's
- 47:30Speaker 1: you can't start out like that. You could be broken
- 47:32Speaker 1: ten minutes. So did you actually have to wire more
- 47:35Speaker 1: money during the trip many times?
- 47:38Speaker 2: Probably?
- 47:39Speaker 1: Wow? So would you start out betting that kind of money?
- 47:42Speaker 1: Would you actually start out going downstairs and fifty that
- 47:45Speaker 1: or would you start at five or ten and building
- 47:48Speaker 1: you did, okay, because that's what almost everyone does. You know,
- 47:52Speaker 1: it's all fun and games and not here in the desert, sunshine, rainbows, lollipops,
- 47:57Speaker 1: all fun stuff. Drinks, a little blow and you bet
- 48:00Speaker 1: five or ten. You're having some fun, you're laughing with
- 48:02Speaker 1: the dealers. Next thing you know, you're losing and you're chasing,
- 48:05Speaker 1: and it's a different terry. Want to not be like
- 48:07Speaker 1: it was a different Bill Kragerberger and John Orwando in
- 48:09Speaker 1: our lives. So of course you're on your level, though
- 48:12Speaker 1: not not ours. And then you were betting fifties on
- 48:16Speaker 1: three hands, and you were betting these crazy amounts on
- 48:19Speaker 1: baccara And did you ever get mad down there at
- 48:22Speaker 1: the table where you were you like slamming? I've never
- 48:24Speaker 1: read anything on it.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Were you you were just take it and shride?
- 48:29Speaker 1: Wow? Wow? Yeah, because John's broken TVs everywhere.
- 48:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I definitely slammed my hand down on many blackjack
- 48:37Speaker 5: tables and discussed you're playing just heads up against the dealer,
- 48:42Speaker 5: although you're playing three spots, but would you ever have
- 48:45Speaker 5: your friends playing at the table with you?
- 48:47Speaker 2: Or no?
- 48:49Speaker 1: Oh? Really? So you had a little bit of an
- 48:50Speaker 1: entourage there. I guarantee none of them are talking to
- 48:53Speaker 1: you today. Probably they probably when you when you when
- 48:56Speaker 1: you when you go broke, they're all gone.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Probably. Yeah, I mean I just know it just it's natural,
- 49:01Speaker 2: it's natural. Yeah, you do have some friends.
- 49:05Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, I mean, Terry, would you always play by
- 49:10Speaker 6: the book.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Or like, would there be times you hit on seventeen?
- 49:14Speaker 1: You're hitting? Yeah?
- 49:15Speaker 5: Have you ever taken a hit on seventeen because you're
- 49:17Speaker 5: tired of seeing the dealer flip over the twenty and
- 49:21Speaker 5: just take.
- 49:21Speaker 6: A shot at it?
- 49:23Speaker 2: Hey times?
- 49:23Speaker 6: I really did you ever double like on twelve or thirteen?
- 49:28Speaker 2: Never?
- 49:28Speaker 1: Never could? Wow? Okay, nothing that matters now in the end,
- 49:32Speaker 1: that's good of white people thinking that, because people do that.
- 49:34Speaker 1: I know, uh, you know, people get out of control.
- 49:37Speaker 1: They just they just said they can't win playing basic strategy.
- 49:41Speaker 6: Did you ever split tens?
- 49:43Speaker 2: Never?
- 49:43Speaker 1: Never? So you knew basic you know basic strategy.
- 49:47Speaker 5: But and you said you had said last night at dinner,
- 49:50Speaker 5: you never you didn't count either, you never kept account.
- 49:53Speaker 2: You just played.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Well, that's how you That's that's why you're gonna lose
- 49:56Speaker 1: one to two percent because even basic strategy if you
- 49:59Speaker 1: have a strategy card just going to lose.
- 50:00Speaker 2: But interesting, wasn't there one time.
- 50:03Speaker 8: Where you had them set up like a million dollars
- 50:05Speaker 8: BFE and you lost some money and then you just
- 50:08Speaker 8: kind of touched the opt and left.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Serious waiting. Okay, And they.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Do you remember Brad the Augment the chef y?
- 50:23Speaker 1: Yes, of course, so he was well because there was
- 50:27Speaker 1: a Brad the Ougment was a big chef in town
- 50:29Speaker 1: back then. So you know them.
- 50:35Speaker 2: And so when I when the two boys say, say
- 50:40Speaker 2: I threw.
- 50:44Speaker 1: But it couldn't cost a million dollars. Okay, but you did,
- 50:48Speaker 1: but you did spend tons of money. You loved, you
- 50:51Speaker 1: loved when you had these things. You enjoyed that so
- 50:55Speaker 1: much for other people, it sounds like, oh you share it.
- 50:59Speaker 1: That's something.
- 50:59Speaker 5: That's the thing that drives me nuts with the whole
- 51:03Speaker 5: story is he he lost this money, but he changed
- 51:09Speaker 5: you changed so many lives along the way.
- 51:11Speaker 6: Did And then there's another bucket of even changing lives
- 51:15Speaker 6: along the way and.
- 51:16Speaker 5: Even being so great with the tips, how many people
- 51:19Speaker 5: still took advantage of him on that same trip.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Definitely, So like when you say, like, oh, what what
- 51:24Speaker 2: did you pay?
- 51:24Speaker 6: For the buffet.
- 51:25Speaker 5: You probably don't even know, Like I doubt you ever
- 51:28Speaker 5: looked at I know, like you were probably obviously you
- 51:30Speaker 5: were room from the beverage calm, right, but for the
- 51:34Speaker 5: extra stuff that maybe he would order sometimes, who knows
- 51:38Speaker 5: what they ever tacked on exactly.
- 51:40Speaker 2: There's no way you looked at the bill.
- 51:42Speaker 1: There's no way, right, no way until at the end
- 51:47Speaker 1: took the food image he has away for me.
- 51:51Speaker 6: In the end, they took the food and beverage comps
- 51:53Speaker 6: away from you.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Why they considered my pois right to be.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Oh so right, So that's I know what they did.
- 52:06Speaker 5: Points and common points right, So he's gambling at such
- 52:10Speaker 5: a crazy, crazy level of points.
- 52:12Speaker 6: You could still have them today.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Right, right, So they started taking pasted on the generation. Correct,
- 52:18Speaker 1: So they took your points and used it towards the stuff. Yeah,
- 52:22Speaker 1: you know, like the private jet.
- 52:23Speaker 5: Flags right, Like like, okay, they did you go to
- 52:29Speaker 5: a lot of so did you use a lot of
- 52:31Speaker 5: the person? Did you go to the super Bowl? Did
- 52:33Speaker 5: you go to Kentucky Derby? Did you do all that
- 52:35Speaker 5: kind of stuff?
- 52:36Speaker 2: No?
- 52:37Speaker 1: Wow, really they're all perks.
- 52:38Speaker 6: That were a lot of friends with you. We'd have
- 52:41Speaker 6: been traveling.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they're all perchs. I did read you got some
- 52:44Speaker 1: concent I read the Rolling Stones and stuff.
- 52:46Speaker 5: Right, but you didn't like have them send a jet,
- 52:48Speaker 5: you know, a big player. You know, they'll take you
- 52:50Speaker 5: the super Bowl and if the super.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Bowls you know, and they might have been offered to it.
- 52:54Speaker 1: You just weren't interested in it. That wasn't your thing. No,
- 52:56Speaker 1: he's my own jet, your own jet. So you had
- 53:01Speaker 1: your own that much money, you have your own jet.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know I I.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I feel so bad for you now though, because I seen.
- 53:13Speaker 7: You.
- 53:14Speaker 1: You had to go fund me. You had prostrate surgery
- 53:17Speaker 1: and you had to go fund me. That's how little
- 53:19Speaker 1: of money you had or no money where you actually needed.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Are you in remission now?
- 53:25Speaker 2: Yes?
- 53:25Speaker 1: So because you look great, we went out to eat.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I had you walk in ten thousand steps last night.
- 53:30Speaker 1: We walked everywhere breakfast and dinner. What do you do
- 53:34Speaker 1: for income currently? How do you? How do you live?
- 53:37Speaker 2: Security? Solid security?
- 53:39Speaker 1: So you're actually getting like solid security and and even
- 53:43Speaker 1: like an EBT, that kind of thing to help you.
- 53:44Speaker 1: The government's helping you. Oh they're not okay, but solid
- 53:50Speaker 1: security is enough to even live.
- 53:52Speaker 6: On that that's the family you're you have a brother
- 53:56Speaker 6: and a sister.
- 53:57Speaker 2: Yes, did they do.
- 53:59Speaker 6: They have money?
- 54:00Speaker 2: Yes? They have to be very wealthy, and.
- 54:01Speaker 6: Your relationship with them is really strained.
- 54:06Speaker 1: And they won't have been helping you to the point
- 54:07Speaker 1: where throwing a couple hundred thousand so you could live
- 54:10Speaker 1: happily the rest of your life. You never asked him
- 54:13Speaker 1: for it. Ride Pride yep. Really okay, So so you
- 54:24Speaker 1: But but you're okay though, you're okay, you're physically okay,
- 54:27Speaker 1: looking at.
- 54:28Speaker 2: To be able to resur proceeds basically okay.
- 54:31Speaker 1: So, and this is part of the book. Yeah, and
- 54:34Speaker 1: John and I think that you're a movie. We think
- 54:37Speaker 1: you're a movie.
- 54:38Speaker 6: This has to be a movie.
- 54:39Speaker 1: We think that there's so many more. We don't have
- 54:41Speaker 1: time to film everything. There's so much more we could
- 54:44Speaker 1: talk about.
- 54:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and are you.
- 54:48Speaker 7: Are you.
- 54:50Speaker 6: On a scale of one to ten, how happy are
- 54:54Speaker 6: you today with life? Five?
- 54:58Speaker 1: Five is low, that's a five. But it's understandable. Yeah,
- 55:02Speaker 1: it's understandable.
- 55:03Speaker 6: Well, we talked about it.
- 55:04Speaker 5: Last night, like you know, because you could argue it
- 55:07Speaker 5: would be better to never have had your hands.
- 55:09Speaker 6: On three hundred million to know what it's like to
- 55:13Speaker 6: not have a million, right, Like it's almost tougher to
- 55:18Speaker 6: have it right, lose it all right?
- 55:21Speaker 1: Never have it?
- 55:22Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 55:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:25Speaker 6: And when you were.
- 55:28Speaker 5: With the money and you were gambling all the time
- 55:30Speaker 5: on one to ten, you were probably a thirty.
- 55:34Speaker 10: For fun, right.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Wow. Someone asked here and asked me if you gamble
- 55:42Speaker 1: at all today on anything, a scratch off lottery ticket
- 55:45Speaker 1: or anything at all?
- 55:47Speaker 2: Nothing? Okay?
- 55:49Speaker 1: So what do you do in the spare time? What
- 55:51Speaker 1: do you do to eat up that time they used
- 55:52Speaker 1: to gamble with you? Just watch some TV, read some
- 55:55Speaker 1: internet or yes, yeah, the are the do you have fun?
- 56:02Speaker 6: Do you think about like the fun times? The fun memories?
- 56:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm reading from a person that asked a lot
- 56:12Speaker 1: of questions.
- 56:13Speaker 2: A lot of times.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Reports state that you were playing a very suboptimal strategy
- 56:18Speaker 1: at the tables, which was guaranteed to lose quickly. So
- 56:21Speaker 1: but you're saying you didn't really do that, you played,
- 56:24Speaker 1: You just told me. This is for the guy named Todd.
- 56:27Speaker 1: Todd he said he played and didn't split tens, he
- 56:30Speaker 1: didn't hit. This is stories out there saying that you're,
- 56:35Speaker 1: you know, doubling on that or hitting the seventeen, But
- 56:38Speaker 1: you really didn't do that. For the most part, you
- 56:40Speaker 1: played a basic strategy. Did you want that special rank
- 56:46Speaker 1: of above seven stars? Did you request that? I didn't request.
- 56:49Speaker 2: It was either to me given to you.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Wow, wow, very cool.
- 56:53Speaker 6: As they were probably figuring like what can we do
- 56:55Speaker 6: special for him?
- 56:56Speaker 1: Right?
- 56:56Speaker 6: Like how do you keep him engaged? How do you
- 56:58Speaker 6: keep him?
- 56:59Speaker 1: What would let me see this?
- 57:00Speaker 5: What was the longest stretch when you had all the
- 57:03Speaker 5: money that you went without coming to town? Like were
- 57:06Speaker 5: you here every You were here for eight months right
- 57:10Speaker 5: over the two and a half years, Yes, and then
- 57:13Speaker 5: you'd go. So after those eight months you went back
- 57:16Speaker 5: to Omaha.
- 57:18Speaker 3: I for occasionally occasionally, but I was when when asked
- 57:26Speaker 3: me to leave and I ended up being in the
- 57:28Speaker 3: rear and it hears.
- 57:30Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 57:30Speaker 2: So you went from Win to Rio? Yes, okay?
- 57:33Speaker 1: And how was Rio? It was a big spot back then,
- 57:37Speaker 1: re open it was a hot spot. They were taking
- 57:39Speaker 1: big bets in their front.
- 57:40Speaker 2: You at the Rio?
- 57:41Speaker 1: Yes, Now was the real owned by Caesars back then?
- 57:44Speaker 6: No?
- 57:44Speaker 2: Right, I believe it was.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Oh was it? It was? Because I know they bought
- 57:47Speaker 1: it eventually, So you weren't playing at a Sezars property anyway,
- 57:51Speaker 1: and then you got wood over to Caesars Palace and
- 57:54Speaker 1: that was gradua.
- 57:56Speaker 6: Did you ever go to Atlantic City and player?
- 57:58Speaker 2: No, just Vegas.
- 58:00Speaker 1: You're not messing anything. Yeah, you didn't miss nothing.
- 58:03Speaker 6: And was macaw a thing back then?
- 58:05Speaker 7: Or No?
- 58:07Speaker 2: Did you ever gamble internationally or anything? You didn't go
- 58:10Speaker 2: to cow?
- 58:11Speaker 1: How about your local casino which there was there was
- 58:13Speaker 1: a local casino.
- 58:14Speaker 6: Harvey's and Council Bluffs? They even take your action?
- 58:18Speaker 2: Is that where you went here?
- 58:21Speaker 1: Wow? Okay, all right, that's and then that was just
- 58:24Speaker 1: like the they weren't taking the action they were.
- 58:26Speaker 2: Taken here though, right they would they wouldn't, like what.
- 58:30Speaker 5: Would your max bet be at Harvey's and counts of
- 58:33Speaker 5: Bluffs at the time?
- 58:38Speaker 6: And so you just pop in there like after lunch.
- 58:41Speaker 5: You got a deal like that was just like little recreation,
- 58:43Speaker 5: play around a little bit Mickey mouse though for you,
- 58:48Speaker 5: wow type, you're gambling?
- 58:50Speaker 6: Any questions?
- 58:52Speaker 1: No, I'm just I'm just fascinated emotional. Sure, yeah, because
- 58:57Speaker 1: you see what kind of guy he is, right, he's
- 59:00Speaker 1: just a good fairly because of pride.
- 59:04Speaker 6: I can understand any gambler can understand.
- 59:07Speaker 1: Sure, Like like it. Yeah, it's it's just it's it's
- 59:12Speaker 1: it's a sad situation, but it could turn to it
- 59:14Speaker 1: could turn into a good thing with a book, a movie.
- 59:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I think there's something like for sure.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Terry, me too, people too, because yeah, it's it really is.
- 59:24Speaker 1: And the casinos they absolutely take.
- 59:26Speaker 6: Advantage of you.
- 59:27Speaker 5: You know, you would think when someone has that much money,
- 59:32Speaker 5: three hundred million, that you can't lose them, like I sure.
- 59:38Speaker 5: Had I not known this story, I would have said,
- 59:40Speaker 5: because I've actually said this about Diana White, because I'll
- 59:42Speaker 5: see people commenting, you know, no one can a Deana White,
- 59:45Speaker 5: you know, no one could spend that much, and.
- 59:47Speaker 6: I always say, please, he's got unlimited, Like, there's no way.
- 59:50Speaker 2: There's a billionaire. There's no way, million billion dollars.
- 59:54Speaker 6: I would have said the same thing about Terry. Three
- 59:56Speaker 6: hundred million dollars, there's no how could you lose John.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: He's going back to the room and losing thirty million
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: to offshore guys.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: That's what he's lost there.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: So but what they it's what it is is.
- 1:00:08Speaker 6: The casinos will keep raising your limits and that's.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Where you're That's why I said, there's no way they
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: give it you forwarded. They raised that after they've seen
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: he's not gonna win it.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: It's almost like, I don't want to say setting him up, but.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Kind of My friend Steve said, as you've seen the
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: therapist and what was he diagnosed with any kind of
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: trauma or anything to be so reckless like, yeah, I
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: like bipolar, really, Steve, I'm glad Steve asked that because
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I would think, listen, we all need to talk to somebody.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: I'll tell you right now though, I think that definitely
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: you probably have been to multiple therapists in your life.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: And I think it's probably a good thing. You still
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: go do you?
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Good for you? Good for you?
- 1:00:49Speaker 6: You know, I said earlier.
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: It's you could argue it would be better that you
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: never had the three hundred million or right. The flip
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: side I said to see at dinner last night. The
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: flip side is you've you're still alive, and you've got
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: the memories you have and the fun you at least.
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: Look, we're all here for however long, some longer than others.
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: Some people die of cancer in their twenties, their thirties, whatever,
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: Some get in a car accident.
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: At the end of the day, you want to just
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: create memories in life and have fun along the way,
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: separate from your daily work, grind right, the experiences you
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: you've operated at the highest level. I mean, if there's
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: a well, there's a gambling Hall of Fame, right, I mean,
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: like you should He's He's.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: In it in my book, Terry. I know the people
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: that run the Gambling Hall of Fame.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: And even though you have lost all this morning, a
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: lot of guys in the Hall of Famer, guys that
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: were you know, people in the business. But there's a
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: couple of people that shouldn't be in this thing. So
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I think you deserve to be in there.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's just look when you watch the
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: movie Casino or when you watch the movie twenty one
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: with Kevin Spacey, Like, that's what we all want to live, right,
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: we we all want to live just absolutely crushing it
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: in the casino one time in your life.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: That's what John.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: You know, I'm just saying, John, I'm not trying to
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: make fun of him. That's what I guess. That's the
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: way you want to you.
- 1:02:24Speaker 6: Before we start rolling, you're telling a story.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: You're looking at You're looking at Tyson, and you're looking
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: at Terry, and you're not even looking at me, and
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: then at the end of your story you say the
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: word degenerate.
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: Was at the end, this guy was a degenerator.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: You looked right at me. That was just a yeah,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: it wasn't you know. It's just as John has a history.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: But anyway, Terry, I think this was a great interview
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: and it was our honor to be the first person,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: the first people to interview you and let you tell
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: your story a little bit.
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: I know it's got to be hard to talk about,
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: right because like we're asking you to.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Read, we're asking you, we're asking you some tough questions.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: But however, this is going to be for the betterment
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: of society and hopefully the kids listen to this and
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: you know, even young gamblers, and they can learn by
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: it a little bit. Yes, yeah, and we'd love to
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: have you on again and maybe we'll come to you
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: so great. Thank you, Terry, thank you,
