- 0:00Speaker 1: Wait, can we say something?
- 0:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:01Speaker 1: Football time. Who's your team this year?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Well, I'll tell you. That's fair. It's a great question, okay?
- 0:10Speaker 3: Because I was down there partying in Louisiana, right?
- 0:14Speaker 1: You walked a team off the bus. Yeah, dude.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Don't let anybody do it.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I did see a couple people that I don't think
- 0:21Speaker 1: are affiliated with the program walk them off the bus.
- 0:22Speaker 2: And just say Brooks Nader. You don't have to be judgmental.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Livvy Dunn was there. Like, I love, I mean, yes,
- 0:30Speaker 3: I have like four teams. Okay, my bad. But here's
- 0:33Speaker 3: my thoughts on it. These teams, it's not like they're, like,
- 0:36Speaker 3: why do I have to be, why can't I be
- 0:39Speaker 3: just a fan of whatever? Like, that's the weird thing
- 0:42Speaker 3: about being a fan. They're like, oh, you're switching teams, whatever.
- 0:45Speaker 3: It's not like these teams call me during the summer
- 0:47Speaker 3: and be like, hey, man, just making sure you're still
- 0:49Speaker 3: going to be there.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 0:50Speaker 2: What is the team?
- 0:51Speaker 3: Like, I know the team goes in plays, but you're
- 0:53Speaker 3: the one that invests your money, your time to go
- 0:56Speaker 3: and support teams. It's like, you can have as many
- 0:58Speaker 3: as you want. You're the, you're the, you're the choice maker.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Teams are like, you don't support us. Like, yeah, I am.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I'll be over there. I'm excited.
- 1:09Speaker 3: But it's not like, like, I just don't like when
- 1:11Speaker 3: people like a fair weather fan, you know? Cause I
- 1:13Speaker 3: don't know what I'm trying to say.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Do I? Well, Some people, not me, some people would
- 1:21Speaker 1: say you're a Fairweather fan because you're always a fan
- 1:24Speaker 1: of the best team.
- 1:26Speaker 2: The best team?
- 1:28Speaker 1: Dude, I'm surprised Vanderbilt was good as well. And maybe
- 1:32Speaker 1: they weren't the best.
- 1:33Speaker 3: I met a semi-illegal immigrant, Diego Pavia, in a hallway
- 1:38Speaker 3: on Vanderbilt's campus.
- 1:40Speaker 2: We got lost.
- 1:41Speaker 3: We went to watch the Alabama game two years ago
- 1:43Speaker 3: when they upset Alabama. They let anybody in the locker
- 1:47Speaker 3: room in. It was like you could come in. You
- 1:48Speaker 3: could bring treats to the team. Dude, some of the
- 1:50Speaker 3: team was eating cupcakes before the game. Before the game.
- 1:53Speaker 2: It said not until after the game on the top
- 1:55Speaker 2: of the cupcake holder. And fucking half the team is
- 1:58Speaker 2: in there eating them. Dude, they had.
- 2:01Speaker 3: So we just. Next thing you know, it's like day one.
- 2:04Speaker 3: They upset. Some black guy squeezed me so hard. I
- 2:07Speaker 3: fucking had semi fractures in my ribs. or like microfractures
- 2:10Speaker 3: or whatever, and I had to take some Tylenol. But anyway, yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 3: became a fan of Vanderbilt. I love– I'm from Louisiana.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Always went to– you know, I went to LSU for
- 2:22Speaker 3: two years. So I got to go support Louisiana, right?
- 2:25Speaker 3: I thought we were Vol fans.
- 2:27Speaker 2: And we are.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Okay?
- 2:29Speaker 2: We are.
- 2:30Speaker 1: There it is.
- 2:31Speaker 3: And look, I like the Vols, dude. I went to
- 2:34Speaker 3: a game last year. They didn't win.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. So what the fuck, dude? Now it's on me.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Why am I here?
- 2:43Speaker 2: I do get that.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I do get wanting to support a winning team. You'll
- 2:46Speaker 1: be there as long as they ask you for NIL money.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Then you're like, all right, man.
- 2:50Speaker 2: That is true, dude.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Let's not get carried away.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I think Vanderbilt gave you a little jingle last year.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I'm like, nah. Nah. You got the wrong guy.
- 2:58Speaker 1: That's crazy. Think about writing a check for NIL.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Well, they wanted NIL for two white guys. I'm like,
- 3:03Speaker 3: two more white guys? at least get one of those
- 3:07Speaker 3: Japanese kickers. I'll fucking put in on that, you know,
- 3:10Speaker 3: but yeah, they were going for two more white receivers.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm not, I'm not a coach, but.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Let's think about this.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Let's think about this.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Um, no, but it is.
- 3:25Speaker 2: And I'll tell you also, I like old miss man.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I like old miss. Why?
- 3:33Speaker 3: Because I just like that quarterback they had over there.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Trinidad's like a, you know, he's kind of undersized in
- 3:40Speaker 3: some ways people would say. He's like a six-foot quarterback,
- 3:43Speaker 3: you know. Now they got these behemoths out there that
- 3:46Speaker 3: just have all the natural abilities.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And he's just got so much heart. And he's great.
- 3:53Speaker 3: They had Diego Pounds over there last year, dude, entertaining guy.
- 3:57Speaker 2: And I like just the lore. It's just exciting. I
- 4:00Speaker 2: just love the SEC, man.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, same, same. Okay. I mean, I'm a Tennessee Volunteer fan,
- 4:05Speaker 1: but I like, I'll say this, I like John Summerall,
- 4:09Speaker 1: but I like Heupel too. Heupel's got the special sauce.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Well, we put it on him.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I got this guy. I got it too.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Oh, this thing you mean?
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a special sauce.
- 4:21Speaker 2: What is that? Pull your mic down a little so
- 4:23Speaker 2: we can see it.
- 4:24Speaker 1: What is that? I don't know. It's the Heupel chin strap. Dude,
- 4:28Speaker 1: it's so good to have football. Some people say that,
- 4:31Speaker 1: and I think some people mean it, but I mean it.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It's life-changing for me when the football's back. Yeah. Everything
- 4:38Speaker 1: just makes more sense in the world.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I don't even watch all the games. I just like
- 4:43Speaker 1: knowing that they're happening. I don't even tune in to
- 4:45Speaker 1: a lot of this stuff, but I just like knowing
- 4:48Speaker 1: that it's going on so things are moving in the
- 4:51Speaker 1: right direction. I'll dial in for two games a weekend.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Really?
- 4:55Speaker 1: I want to know that all of them are happening.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I don't even like a lightning delay.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Wow. You just want to know, huh? Yeah, there is
- 5:02Speaker 3: something nice. I think it gives everybody something. Well, I
- 5:05Speaker 3: do think college football is still rewarding to people. Some
- 5:09Speaker 3: of these sports have turned into just gambling fetishes.
- 5:12Speaker 1: NFL's kind of like that to me.
- 5:13Speaker 2: The gambling thing?
- 5:14Speaker 1: Well, it's not the gambling. It doesn't feel the same.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I'm curious. This is where my question is for college football.
- 5:22Speaker 1: With all the NIL stuff, when are we going to
- 5:25Speaker 1: see the first player come out and have like a
- 5:28Speaker 1: good first two games and then you know how like
- 5:31Speaker 1: a couple years ago they started sitting out of the
- 5:34Speaker 1: bowl game because they want to protect their NFL career
- 5:38Speaker 1: when are we going to see the first player pop
- 5:40Speaker 1: off for like I hate to say it but like
- 5:42Speaker 1: Mississippi State the quarterback for Mississippi State when are you
- 5:45Speaker 1: going to see him sit out the rest of the
- 5:47Speaker 1: season not to go to the NFL and protect his
- 5:50Speaker 1: NFL value but to protect his transfer NIL value to
- 5:53Speaker 1: go to Alabama hmm that's That's coming.
- 5:58Speaker 2: You think so?
- 5:59Speaker 1: Why would? It's the same thought process. Yo, I just
- 6:02Speaker 1: showed what I'm worth. Now I have to protect my body.
- 6:05Speaker 1: That way I can go get the money I'm worth.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I think you'd have to do a series of games.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Two games won't get it. Two games.
- 6:11Speaker 3: You're just going to be gooning around over there at
- 6:14Speaker 3: Transmission State Central or whatever.
- 6:16Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? You know, HBSC or whatever.
- 6:20Speaker 2: But you got, yeah.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, well, it's going to continue to get
- 6:25Speaker 3: weird because it's all just a business now.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 3: But before you go, I want to talk about Lane
- 6:30Speaker 3: Kiffin real quick. How does this all go down? What
- 6:32Speaker 3: happens there with Lane?
- 6:34Speaker 1: In which capacity?
- 6:36Speaker 3: Just in all of it. Because it's interesting what they're
- 6:38Speaker 3: doing down there, right? They're starting. It's a lot of, like, energy, right?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:43Speaker 3: They're having different people come down and walk out with
- 6:45Speaker 3: the team, you know. It feels like this kind of, like,
- 6:50Speaker 3: I don't know, like, Deion Sanders kind of tried that
- 6:53Speaker 3: and it wasn't a good move. I can't tell if
- 6:55Speaker 3: you run the risk of things becoming more about ego
- 6:57Speaker 3: and energy than they do about the team. Right.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I mean, you would think that he's doing it for
- 7:03Speaker 1: recruiting or to like get better players on the team.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:07Speaker 1: But it becomes an issue when it does become about him.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I thought this past week, it's like, it's a hard
- 7:14Speaker 1: spot to be in because the storyline is not about
- 7:16Speaker 1: his team playing in the game for the Ole Miss game.
- 7:18Speaker 1: The storyline is just about him. And it's like, how
- 7:20Speaker 1: do you like, I didn't know what was a better
- 7:23Speaker 1: method for him to like take it and just like
- 7:25Speaker 1: embrace it being about him. So his team could kind
- 7:28Speaker 1: of play free for him. Or do you want to
- 7:30Speaker 1: make it like about the guys on the team? Cause like,
- 7:32Speaker 1: obviously you're not the one out there. We talked about
- 7:34Speaker 1: it last night at dinner, but like coaches are very important.
- 7:38Speaker 1: But my stat I gave you, which I love is
- 7:40Speaker 1: like in the history of the NFL, there's been, uh,
- 7:45Speaker 1: I think, I think maybe three total, uh, Hall of
- 7:49Speaker 1: Fame coaches that haven't had a Hall of Fame quarterback. Like,
- 7:53Speaker 1: you've got to have the players, especially quarterback. If you
- 7:57Speaker 1: don't have those guys on the field, it doesn't matter
- 7:59Speaker 1: what Lane Kiffin does to some extent. I don't know.
- 8:02Speaker 1: How do you feel like he handled it?
- 8:05Speaker 2: How he handled what?
- 8:05Speaker 1: What are we talking about? Well, I was trying to
- 8:09Speaker 1: be kind of politically correct in my answer. I think
- 8:13Speaker 1: sometimes Lane does like it to be about himself.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Oh, nothing Lane likes more than Lane. Lane loves Lane.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I've said that before. Lane loves Lane.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Lane knows he loves Lane. Lane's listening right now to
- 8:23Speaker 3: me saying Lane loves Lane, and you.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Know it, Lane. It's okay.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And liking it. Right.
- 8:28Speaker 3: It's okay, right? That's just like, you know, that's okay.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Lane operates in a unique way. What's really interesting about
- 8:35Speaker 3: Kiffin is that he's sort of kind of this ladies'
- 8:39Speaker 3: man in a way, right?
- 8:40Speaker 1: In a way, right? Have you hung with him?
- 8:42Speaker 2: Huh?
- 8:42Speaker 1: I know you have, but is he smooth?
- 8:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Dude, he's been so successful.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I do wonder if he's smooth with girls.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I wonder about that. I've had that thought before this
- 8:52Speaker 1: podcast because he presents himself. I think he likes to
- 8:56Speaker 1: present himself as a ladies' man.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 1: He likes the story. He'll repost the story about him
- 9:01Speaker 1: being a ladies' man. Yeah. But if you really locked
- 9:04Speaker 1: him in one of those 21 verse ones with the balloons,
- 9:08Speaker 1: how many people are popping?
- 9:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 3: I think he'd get a decent amount, bro. I mean,
- 9:14Speaker 3: his aura is up, bro. You know what I'm saying?
- 9:17Speaker 3: It's fascinating because it's a different place. Usually a coach
- 9:20Speaker 3: gets caught with a younger lady. It's like, this guy's
- 9:22Speaker 3: going to hell.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I feel like you're trying to make this about UNC.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Are you?
- 9:26Speaker 2: About me?
- 9:27Speaker 1: About UNC.
- 9:28Speaker 2: No, not at all.
- 9:29Speaker 1: We can keep moving.
- 9:29Speaker 2: No, not at all. We can talk about UNC, though.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I didn't know if you were dancing a Belichick dance
- 9:34Speaker 1: on me.
- 9:34Speaker 2: No, not at all.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I don't know anything about it.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah. So, anyway. Belichick has a younger girl.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Dude, yeah, that's fine.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Which we support. Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 2: That's fine with me. Yeah.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Because I just think we're in this fascinating place where
- 9:50Speaker 3: you've never really kind of had a sort of like
- 9:53Speaker 3: a this uh coach like kiffin with this sort of
- 9:57Speaker 3: exposure i'm trying to end like doing like walkouts with
- 10:01Speaker 3: you know but we have we had it with dion
- 10:04Speaker 3: but it didn't work that didn't really work like the
- 10:06Speaker 3: walkouts with you know some of that's a little bit
- 10:08Speaker 3: much right um and i was down there for it
- 10:11Speaker 3: i'm not saying like you know i love louisiana you
- 10:13Speaker 3: know i think but i just wonder if there's an
- 10:15Speaker 3: edge to that that's just like too much you know
- 10:17Speaker 3: it's That's what I'm saying.
- 10:20Speaker 1: It's definitely, it's 100% not sustainable. You can't do that
- 10:22Speaker 1: because for one reason, even if you try to do it,
- 10:25Speaker 1: you can't keep that level of energy. Like, next season
- 10:28Speaker 1: and beyond, like, they would have to keep winning the
- 10:29Speaker 1: national championship back to back to back to back. So,
- 10:32Speaker 1: it's probably something you can't do, but for right now,
- 10:34Speaker 1: it kind of works. It's kind of awesome. It makes
- 10:37Speaker 1: college football great. I would love to see him versus
- 10:40Speaker 1: Signetti in a national championship game. Two polar opposites. Two
- 10:44Speaker 1: huge personalities.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Signetti's the He's a problem.
- 10:50Speaker 2: They call him Sick Nasty, too, I've heard.
- 10:52Speaker 1: He's a problem.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Really?
- 10:54Speaker 1: Bro, he's won everywhere he's went, and he carries himself
- 10:58Speaker 1: like an absolute boss. We talked about this last night, too.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Nick Saban, like, what makes him the greatest of all time?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Is it, like, his X and O's knowledge, or is
- 11:07Speaker 1: it just his aura? Like, the way he just commands
- 11:10Speaker 1: a room.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And I think Cignetti has that, which I don't know
- 11:14Speaker 1: if Kiffin has it or never hung around him, but, like,
- 11:16Speaker 1: I feel like Signetti's like a monster looming in the
- 11:19Speaker 1: corner who's young for coaches. He's going to be around
- 11:22Speaker 1: for a while.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Signotti, they call him, I heard.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And he earned it, that nickname.
- 11:28Speaker 3: That's what I heard. I don't know if they– and
- 11:31Speaker 3: I don't even know what I'm talking about. You know
- 11:33Speaker 3: what I'm saying? And they also call him– some of
- 11:37Speaker 3: the older people call him Signifty. Like senior citizens call
- 11:41Speaker 3: him that. Yeah, yeah.
