• 2:30
Speaker 4: Good morning, Sarah, Welcome to the show.
• 2:34
Speaker 6: Good morning. And I won a car show yesterday.
• 2:38
Speaker 5: That's the first thing I was going to ask you about,
• 2:39
Speaker 5: which which one of your rides was in the car show?
• 2:42
Speaker 5: And you won it in California, Talk about it.
• 2:45
Speaker 6: It's the fifteen nine Cadillac. It's the only car I
• 2:48
Speaker 6: have out here. And there was one hundred and seventy
• 2:53
Speaker 6: cars there and they gave away twenty eight awards and
• 2:59
Speaker 6: three of them had money with them, and I won
• 3:05
Speaker 6: one of the ones with money, and I stood in
• 3:09
Speaker 6: front of my car the whole time and instead of
• 3:13
Speaker 6: sitting in the back and those lounge chairs, you know,
• 3:17
Speaker 6: I work that crawd. People were coming up having their
• 3:22
Speaker 6: pictures taken. My card said can I have Can I
• 3:25
Speaker 6: take one of you? And then I would take a
• 3:26
Speaker 6: picture of my the piece of paper in my window
• 3:31
Speaker 6: with all my information and have you all decided that
• 3:35
Speaker 6: you're going to vote for in the People's Choice awards?
• 3:38
Speaker 6: You know? And uh, well that's my information. If you
• 3:43
Speaker 6: you know, if you picked me or if you I
• 3:46
Speaker 6: appreciate it, and don't don't mess with me in politics, please.
• 3:50
Speaker 6: I've never lost an election one.
• 3:54
Speaker 4: It's nice to know the kids still got it right.
• 3:57
Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a lot of fun and I got
• 3:59
Speaker 6: fun to understanding out there. But it was I met
• 4:02
Speaker 6: a lot of nice people, a lot of Vietnam veterans,
• 4:06
Speaker 6: and you know, because this is a senior living community,
• 4:11
Speaker 6: and it was it was just a really beautiful car show.
• 4:16
Speaker 4: How many cars were in it?
• 4:17
Speaker 5: Approximately one hundred seventy, one hundred seventy all right, And
• 4:21
Speaker 5: was your Cadillac was in any specific category? How they
• 4:24
Speaker 5: kind of break these things down?
• 4:26
  Speaker 7: No, I was.
• 4:27
Speaker 6: I won the People's Choice. They had two people's choice,
• 4:31
Speaker 6: one for people that don't live in leisure world and
• 4:34
Speaker 6: one for people that do. And I work with people
• 4:38
Speaker 6: that do, because I would ask them, do you live
• 4:41
Speaker 6: in leisure world? Had you fixed a Cardovos for it?
• 4:47
Speaker 5: You were Suddenly it was nineteen eighty and you were
• 4:50
Speaker 5: going door to door again, basically, right, eighty four eighty four?
• 4:54
Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, I've run for sheriff.
• 4:56
Speaker 5: You talked about that on the show Danny once before,
• 5:00
Speaker 5: about your campaign strategy, about going and for people that
• 5:03
Speaker 5: didn't know it. I mean basically when you went door
• 5:05
Speaker 5: to door, you would just ask. That was the first
• 5:06
Speaker 5: question you told me that you asked was have you
• 5:09
Speaker 5: decided who you're going to vote for?
• 5:11
Speaker 6: Yeah? Have you picked a candidate?
• 5:13
Speaker 4: Picked a candadaate? Yeah?
• 5:15
Speaker 6: And have you and back in those days see everything
• 5:18
Speaker 6: of a Democrat. So I said, well, have you ever
• 5:21
Speaker 6: voted for? And I had to list, So I said,
• 5:26
Speaker 6: you know, miss Allen, have you ever voted for a
• 5:28
Speaker 6: Republican before? And they said, well, of course, we split
• 5:31
Speaker 6: our ticket. I said, well, I wanted to give you
• 5:34
Speaker 6: my information and I'm running against a good man. I
• 5:38
Speaker 6: just want you to know I'm a good man too.
• 5:40
Speaker 6: And this will this will tell you about me? And
• 5:43
Speaker 6: I won. I came off South Hills into two five
• 5:47
Speaker 6: three one four precinct with a twenty five vote twenty
• 5:51
Speaker 6: five hundred vote plus margin, and I won the election
• 5:55
Speaker 6: by eleven thousand votes.
• 5:57
Speaker 5: And this was and this was eighty four. Yeah, who'd
• 6:01
Speaker 5: you run against in eighty four?
• 6:03
Speaker 6: A coach Edwards? Oh that's right, the late coach Edwards
• 6:06
  Speaker 6: Cede's father.
• 6:07
  Speaker 4: Uh huh.
• 6:08
Speaker 5: Well, and I mean, yeah, I mean, and that was
• 6:10
Speaker 5: a pretty uh formidable candidate.
• 6:14
Speaker 4: I mean back in those days, right.
• 6:16
Speaker 6: Great man, great great, he'd had been a fine shariff.
• 6:22
Speaker 5: It was a different time politically now, you know, because
• 6:26
Speaker 5: I mean back then to what it is now, because
• 6:29
Speaker 5: I mean, you know, there was some you know, some
• 6:31
Speaker 5: nasty campaigning and whatnot back in but it wasn't, in
• 6:34
Speaker 5: my opinion, you know, it wasn't as overt as what
• 6:38
  Speaker 5: it is now.
• 6:38
  Speaker 8: You know.
• 6:39
Speaker 5: I mean, you got mailers and stuff like that, but
• 6:41
Speaker 5: you have now. But back then, I mean, it was
• 6:43
Speaker 5: a totally different time. And you didn't have social media
• 6:45
Speaker 5: at the time, which I think is probably the worst
• 6:46
Speaker 5: thing that ever happened to the country.
• 6:48
  Speaker 4: Social media.
• 6:48
Speaker 6: If you want my opinion, yeah, and they had They
• 6:51
  Speaker 6: had a slate which I got on. I don't know
• 6:55
Speaker 6: if it mattered or not. It was called Mountaineers for
• 6:59
Speaker 6: More and Governor Moore was on it. Bob Wise was
• 7:07
Speaker 6: on it. He didn't want to be on it, but
• 7:09
Speaker 6: they wanted to strengthen the slates, so they put his
• 7:12
Speaker 6: name on it. And of the furniture store guy, his
• 7:18
Speaker 6: son owns the furniture store out on Quarter G. He
• 7:23
Speaker 6: was on it and I was on it, and I
• 7:26
Speaker 6: don't know if it helped or not, but I won big.
• 7:30
Speaker 5: Were there multiple slates floating around back then, because I
• 7:33
Speaker 5: know in Logan County where I grew up, there were
• 7:35
Speaker 5: there were multiple slates. There were fake slates sometimes, I
• 7:39
Speaker 5: mean were there were there different slates.
• 7:42
Speaker 6: There are three factions of Democrats in the seventies. I
• 7:46
Speaker 6: don't know if it carried into the eighties or not.
• 7:49
Speaker 6: One was a guy named Popcorn Allen and he had
• 7:53
Speaker 6: the Shawnee Hills employees that would go out and work.
• 7:57
Speaker 6: And in the seventies powerful slate was Jack Pauley and
• 8:07
  Speaker 6: I don't know if he's still a magistrate or not,
• 8:09
Speaker 6: but he was very powerful, very powerful. And then you
• 8:15
Speaker 6: had Sam McCorkell and Sam mccorkyl. I'll tell you a
• 8:19
Speaker 6: sunny story. We were walking and he knew me and
• 8:23
Speaker 6: liked me, and I liked him a lot. He was
• 8:25
Speaker 6: a great, big tall man. I got drafted with his son.
• 8:29
Speaker 6: His son was in the Army. I went in the
• 8:31
Speaker 6: Marine Corps. John mccorkl and we were walking into a
• 8:35
Speaker 6: magistrate's birthday party in the in the Judicial Annex, and
• 8:43
Speaker 6: he said, Danny, what you have to worry about are
• 8:47
Speaker 6: people that say there for you, but they can't let
• 8:52
Speaker 6: anybody know they're for you. And he said, you don't
• 8:55
Speaker 6: have to worry about me. He says, I'll never be
• 8:57
  Speaker 6: for you.
• 8:58
Speaker 4: At least you know where you stay, you know.
• 9:01
Speaker 6: Yeah. And I love Sam. And he just didn't vote
• 9:04
Speaker 6: for Republicans and Arts Arts tried to take him in.
• 9:08
Speaker 6: You know how many jobs you want nothing? We don't
• 9:11
Speaker 6: want anything. They wouldn't vote for Republicans, and you know,
• 9:14
Speaker 6: I had to respect that. And I love Sam, and
• 9:18
Speaker 6: I like John, his son, who's still around.
• 9:22
Speaker 5: Talking to Danny Jones again with Dave Island Show on five,
• 9:24
Speaker 5: Adyeline brought to you Bye Bye the Charleston Dirty Birds
• 9:26
Speaker 5: off night tonight for the Birds to begin a homestand
• 9:29
Speaker 5: against the Long Island Ducks tomorrow night. Two dollars Tuesday,
• 9:32
Speaker 5: all counts the two dollars specials who want to go
• 9:34
Speaker 5: mark Ballpark checking out Dirty Birds baseball dot com for
• 9:37
Speaker 5: more information. Nine to seventeen And now you're out in
• 9:39
Speaker 5: California right now, So it's six seventeen out there, right.
• 9:43
Speaker 6: That's correct, that's correct. You know they had a thing
• 9:46
Speaker 6: on sixty minutes last night about the Banana baseball team.
• 9:50
Speaker 4: It's the Savannah Bananas.
• 9:52
Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a repeat. But those guys are really
• 9:55
  Speaker 6: getting big. Oh.
• 9:56
Speaker 5: I remember, yeah, a couple of years ago when they
• 9:58
Speaker 5: came to the ballpark over here, and I remember what
• 10:01
Speaker 5: a big deal it was.
• 10:01
Speaker 6: Then they're packing the major League baseball parks that have
• 10:06
Speaker 6: one hundred thousand seats. Yeah, and I don't think they'll
• 10:09
Speaker 6: read back here. And he now has a league of
• 10:11
Speaker 6: about sixteen. So those guys are really good.
• 10:17
Speaker 4: I want to ask you something real quick.
• 10:21
Speaker 5: You know what we think about California where you're at now,
• 10:24
Speaker 5: you we think about California as being super liberal. You've
• 10:28
Speaker 5: told me where you are, it's not that liberal. I'm
• 10:31
Speaker 5: just kind of wondering maybe on the maybe the newspaper
• 10:34
Speaker 5: television coverage of America two fifty, because there's those that said, look,
• 10:38
Speaker 5: we shouldn't be selling I mean they did it here
• 10:40
Speaker 5: in West Virginia. I'm sure they did at Nation Want too.
• 10:41
Speaker 5: We shouldn't be celebrating because of this or that. One
• 10:44
Speaker 5: was the reaction to America two fifty.
• 10:45
Speaker 6: In California, people full of flags. This compound I live
• 10:52
Speaker 6: in is Democrat, but that doesn't mean they're not patriotic folks.
• 10:59
Speaker 6: But if you go north, it gets pretty woke. If
• 11:05
Speaker 6: you go to the Santa Monica, it's it's as far
• 11:09
Speaker 6: left as you can get. But if you go down
• 11:12
Speaker 6: south eight miles south of where I am, the Huntington Beach,
• 11:15
Speaker 6: and it's Maga, it's mega Orange County is more conservative.
• 11:22
Speaker 5: It's interesting to me how we've got these different I mean,
• 11:26
Speaker 5: it's not it's not as easy as red or blue anymore,
• 11:30
Speaker 5: because I mean there are I mean, we know that
• 11:32
Speaker 5: Donald Trump is the head of the Republican Party nationwide.
• 11:35
Speaker 4: Uh and, but but.
• 11:37
Speaker 5: There are in other areas outside West Virginia, there are
• 11:40
Speaker 5: people that aren't so pro Donald Trump that are Republicans,
• 11:43
Speaker 5: And the same on the left I mean, you've got
• 11:46
Speaker 5: it seems to me and I've said this beore. I
• 11:48
Speaker 5: think both parties have been have been taken over, uh
• 11:51
Speaker 5: by by the far left end by the far right respectively.
• 11:54
Speaker 5: Uh But when you say that that's Democrat, there is
• 11:57
Speaker 5: it the classic is it? The new Democrat? The what
• 12:00
Speaker 5: you call woke Democrat? Is the classic Democrats? Say John
• 12:04
Speaker 5: Kennedy Democrat? What kind of Democrats are there.
• 12:06
Speaker 6: On this compound? They would be more of the John
• 12:09
Speaker 6: Kennedy Democrats because they are older people. They're older than me.
• 12:14
Speaker 6: I went your church yesterday, the Baptist church, and I
• 12:18
Speaker 6: was the youngest person in the room. And it's these people.
• 12:26
Speaker 6: You know, they set up tents, Democrat tents and the
• 12:29
Speaker 6: Republicans have a small tent. But they are very patriotic people.
• 12:35
Speaker 6: They fly flags. It's just not the same. Now you
• 12:39
Speaker 6: got Santa Monica. It's different. But I was reading an
• 12:43
Speaker 6: article in the Times this morning about Santa Monica. They're
• 12:46
Speaker 6: one broke, and you know that's it's it's the I was.
• 12:54
  Speaker 6: I was at a mayor's conference and I'm sitting right
• 12:58
Speaker 6: next to the mayor of Cente Monica and she's a
• 13:03
Speaker 6: you know, she's a lady, and obviously her I can,
• 13:07
Speaker 6: I can. We started talking and I said, well, I'll
• 13:10
Speaker 6: really get her good. I said, yeah, I've got a
• 13:13
Speaker 6: son and he works in the coal mines.
• 13:16
Speaker 4: Game on at that point, game on right.
• 13:18
Speaker 6: Oh she cringed. She said, can you get a job
• 13:22
Speaker 6: at a wind farm? I said, no, man, we're cold
• 13:27
Speaker 6: people in West Virginia. Oh, she just cringed. I bet
• 13:30
Speaker 6: she wanted to fleet to be somewhere else.
• 13:35
Speaker 4: When a you coming back to West Virginia.
• 13:38
Speaker 6: I'll be back Nece Saturday, all right, so.
• 13:40
Speaker 5: You'll be in studio with this next Monday. What's what's
• 13:42
Speaker 5: the rest of the week look like for Danny Jones
• 13:43
  Speaker 5: of California?
• 13:44
Speaker 4: What are you getting into?
• 13:46
Speaker 6: I'm gonna meet with my friends at noon, and I'll
• 13:52
Speaker 6: you know, I'll lay up by the pool and and
• 13:56
Speaker 6: and get on my front courch and you're out my
• 14:00
  Speaker 6: Cadillac around.
• 14:02
Speaker 5: I would think that that Cadillac even you know, California's
• 14:05
Speaker 5: got a strong culture of automobiles. We all know that,
• 14:08
Speaker 5: but I would think that that is kind of it.
• 14:09
Speaker 5: You can show you've talked about going to a car show.
• 14:11
Speaker 5: You go to a car show, you always see like
• 14:13
Speaker 5: the sixty six Mustangs or those classic cars. But imagine
• 14:16
Speaker 5: you don't see a lot of fifty nine Cadillacs anywhere.
• 14:19
Speaker 6: No, and there is a car show in six in
• 14:25
Speaker 6: colb to that six Center Cars, and next year's car
• 14:30
Speaker 6: show is already full. I couldn't get in this one,
• 14:33
Speaker 6: and I can't get the next one.
• 14:35
Speaker 5: All right, Well, Danny, you enjoy California and we'll look
• 14:38
Speaker 5: forward to talking to you in studio next week.

Speaker 11: Good morning, I'm wonderful. How you doing.
• 19:28
Speaker 4: How's that voice told?
• 19:30
Speaker 10: It's a little shaky but good, but really really good.
• 19:34
Speaker 10: I mean, I think that we're going to be still
• 19:38
Speaker 10: on this adrenaline high for a really long time. It
• 19:41
Speaker 10: was far and away the best Charleston cern Rover Gotta
• 19:45
  Speaker 10: I remember, and I'm just I'm thrilled. I'm thrilled that
• 19:50
Speaker 10: we can yet again say another year a safe, fun
• 19:53
Speaker 10: time for all. You know, we had some heat issues
• 19:57
Speaker 10: in the beginning of the week, but fewer than you
• 19:59
Speaker 10: would think, four or five the first day, three the
• 20:02
Speaker 10: next day. In the past two days we haven't had
• 20:05
Speaker 10: any because that you know, fortunately, a little bit of
• 20:07
Speaker 10: the rain came in and cooled things down, made a
• 20:08
Speaker 10: little monkey for a while, but we had a nice
• 20:11
Speaker 10: breeze on the river and it was just it was
• 20:13
Speaker 10: an incredible, incredible week. It is a year long process
• 20:18
Speaker 10: to host, you know, the state's largest four day festival,
• 20:21
Speaker 10: but we're really happy about the outcome.
• 20:23
Speaker 4: And they had a beautiful rainbow last night too.
• 20:25
  Speaker 11: Oh my gosh.
• 20:26
Speaker 4: Yeah, was that cool or what?
• 20:27
Speaker 10: It was almost scripted? I mean, you know that the
• 20:31
Speaker 10: band was playing on stage and everybody saw the rainbow
• 20:33
Speaker 10: just started, and so everybody's phones went from the stage
• 20:36
Speaker 10: to the rainbow in the sky. Everybody loves the rainbow,
• 20:39
  Speaker 10: double rainbow.
• 20:40
Speaker 11: And so it was.
• 20:41
Speaker 10: It was super It was super fun. But you know,
• 20:44
Speaker 10: I you know, every night before I go to bed
• 20:47
Speaker 10: and every morning when I wake up, I'm always thinking
• 20:49
Speaker 10: about something, as is our team, and I just it'll
• 20:54
Speaker 10: take me this entire show, Dave, in your entire afternoon
• 20:57
Speaker 10: Statewide Show and TJ and Day show. Yeah, I mean
• 21:01
Speaker 10: all of them to say how incredibly thankful I am
• 21:05
Speaker 10: to live and raise my family in this city that
• 21:08
Speaker 10: has so many people who give so much time, money support.
• 21:15
Speaker 11: This was the largest and.
• 21:19
Speaker 10: The family who the anonymous family who gave us that
• 21:24
Speaker 10: gift of those fireworks to be done in three different
• 21:27
Speaker 10: locations and the magnitude and I know a lot of
• 21:32
Speaker 10: people saw the clips online unless you were there. And
• 21:34
Speaker 10: I was standing when it started in the middle of
• 21:36
Speaker 10: the Southside Bridge to watch and at my vantage point
• 21:40
Speaker 10: you could kind of see, you know, around that corner.
• 21:43
Speaker 10: It's hard to see the capital, but watching over had
• 21:46
Speaker 10: that in Magic Island, which is what we had discussed
• 21:48
Speaker 10: with this family who gave us this incredible one hundred
• 21:52
Speaker 10: thousand dollars gift donation for fireworks and with a little
• 21:57
Speaker 10: bit of the city support because we always put money
• 22:00
Speaker 10: and our budget for fireworks for the fourth July uh
• 22:02
Speaker 10: in the state of West Virginia. They gave us some
• 22:05
Speaker 10: funds as well to enhance that to make sure that
• 22:09
Speaker 10: we had fireworks at the capitol as well. Working with
• 22:11
Speaker 10: Sambelly or they're the you know, they're the champions if
• 22:14
Speaker 10: you will, and jan right. Yeah, it was just it
• 22:19
Speaker 10: was just incredible to watch everybody. You kept hearing people
• 22:24
Speaker 10: go wow, oh my god, look hold on videos and photos.
• 22:30
  Speaker 10: It's a it was a once in a lifetime opportunity
• 22:33
Speaker 10: and experience and to have that happen over so many days,
• 22:37
Speaker 10: you know, starting with Melissa Ethridge and why no, Nah Judd,
• 22:41
  Speaker 10: who were true?
• 22:42
  Speaker 11: I mean, they're just rock stars. I don't know what
• 22:44
  Speaker 11: else to say.
• 22:44
Speaker 10: Bobby Brown and until Jordan and bow Wow rock stars,
• 22:48
Speaker 10: and Leada Ford and Brett Michael rock stars. They're just
• 22:52
  Speaker 10: true rock stars.
• 22:53
Speaker 4: And I know you got yeah.
• 22:55
Speaker 5: But Animal and I were talking earlier and about how
• 22:58
Speaker 5: how I mean everybody genuinely.
• 23:00
Speaker 10: Ifford literally said when I walked in, hey, come on in,
• 23:03
Speaker 10: can I get you something to drink? I said, wait
• 23:04
Speaker 10: a second, I'm supposed to be.
• 23:06
Speaker 5: Hosting you, I believe it or not. She had never
• 23:09
  Speaker 5: played in Charleston.
• 23:10
Speaker 10: Before, she never had, and she was so she was
• 23:14
Speaker 10: genuinely because you know, I haven't been around that long
• 23:16
Speaker 10: and I'm not that old. But you can kind of
• 23:18
Speaker 10: tell that authenticity when people have it or don't. I
• 23:21
Speaker 10: think the most amazing thing that was said about any
• 23:25
Speaker 10: of the artists I kept calling him mister Michaels. Brett
• 23:28
Speaker 10: Michael said to me, mayor you the next time you
• 23:32
Speaker 10: call somebody and they say, I'm not sure it's fourth
• 23:35
Speaker 10: of July or you know it might be, but I'm
• 23:38
Speaker 10: not I'm not sure I'm gonna, you know, do this venue.
• 23:40
  Speaker 11: He said.
• 23:40
Speaker 10: I don't think that people understand. Maybe artists don't understand.
• 23:44
Speaker 10: But I want to be your spokesperson on the regatta
• 23:47
Speaker 10: because as I'm standing on stage and I'm looking to
• 23:50
Speaker 10: the left, and I see the riverfront, and I see
• 23:53
Speaker 10: the boats, and I see the big boats, the stern
• 23:55
Speaker 10: wheelers he's referring to, and the crowd, and they're down
• 23:58
Speaker 10: low and up high in their back and they're on
• 24:00
Speaker 10: tops of built He said, this venue is absolutely incredible.
• 24:06
Speaker 10: You call me and by the way, they gave me
• 24:09
Speaker 10: their personal cell phone number, and by the way, they
• 24:11
Speaker 10: called me yesterday on another issue, but a positive issue,
• 24:16
Speaker 10: but to say, please connect with us, Please keep connecting
• 24:20
Speaker 10: with us. And I think when when we show national
• 24:24
Speaker 10: and international artists and true rock stars who we are,
• 24:27
Speaker 10: by the way, you know, in the in the four
• 24:29
Speaker 10: point Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Washington, d C. The
• 24:35
Speaker 10: families and the fans who came from all over, that's
• 24:39
Speaker 10: incredibly important. Yes it's a party, Yes it's super fun.
• 24:44
Speaker 10: Yes we have made this administration made it when we
• 24:47
Speaker 10: brought back the regatta a family centered focus, you know,
• 24:51
Speaker 10: for free stuff for the kiddos to do. You cannot
• 24:55
Speaker 10: put an exclamation point, you put put a thousand on
• 24:58
Speaker 10: this sentence that it's an opportunity for us to showcase.
• 25:01
Speaker 10: Every single mayor before me and after me, they're being honest.
• 25:05
Speaker 10: They would say to you, this is what we want.
• 25:07
Speaker 10: I want people to know that Charleston, West Virginia has
• 25:10
Speaker 10: a quality of life. And by the way, we talked
• 25:13
Speaker 10: to several family members who were there with some of
• 25:15
Speaker 10: our sponsors to say, thanks for doing this because my
• 25:18
Speaker 10: kids are in town and this is what we want
• 25:20
Speaker 10: them to see, to have fun things for their kids
• 25:22
Speaker 10: to do, and not just on regatta weekend as well
• 25:26
Speaker 10: the small businesses who came out to support us. Is
• 25:29
Speaker 10: just also just another feather in our cap. But it
• 25:33
Speaker 10: says more about you know, I said this on a
• 25:36
Speaker 10: social media post, I said this on stage, so I'll
• 25:38
Speaker 10: say it on your show, Dave.
• 25:40
  Speaker 11: This is.
• 25:42
Speaker 10: The success of a city is never about one person,
• 25:45
Speaker 10: never has been, never will be.
• 25:47
  Speaker 11: It cannot be.
• 25:48
Speaker 10: So when we start getting so myopic and thinking about
• 25:50
  Speaker 10: it's me, it's what I've done, it's not. It is
• 25:53
Speaker 10: a reflection upon this city and how much people care
• 25:56
Speaker 10: about their city and how much they want to give
• 25:58
Speaker 10: of themselves and their company. So thank you again. It's
• 26:02
Speaker 10: not enough. It would take me days to do it,
• 26:05
Speaker 10: but I'm absolutely over the moon. Over the moon thrilled
• 26:08
Speaker 10: a safe, wonderful environment for our businesses and families and visitors.
• 26:13
  Speaker 11: I'm thrilled.
• 26:14
Speaker 5: Was this the biggest attendance, I mean in five years
• 26:18
Speaker 5: since it came back?
• 26:19
Speaker 10: I mean yes, certainly. I mean the Leada Ford of
• 26:22
Speaker 10: Brett Michael and I'll be real real, as my bloways
• 26:25
Speaker 10: like to say to me, Mom, let me be real
• 26:27
  Speaker 10: real with you.
• 26:27
Speaker 11: I'll be real real.
• 26:30
Speaker 10: I was so excited and surprised to see the insane
• 26:36
Speaker 10: amount of people who came out for Leida Ford. And
• 26:38
Speaker 10: she is a rock star in all aspects. She is
• 26:41
Speaker 10: a rock star and her team are pros. I mean
• 26:44
Speaker 10: they do this all over the world. She is a pro.
• 26:46
Speaker 10: I mean when you start with the Runaways with you
• 26:48
Speaker 10: know Pat Benattar and Jim Jet and those crew of
• 26:51
Speaker 10: true punk rock girls, they're pros.
• 26:54
Speaker 11: This is what they do and they love to do it.
• 26:56
  Speaker 6: She was.
• 26:58
Speaker 10: She was so great in her trailer practicing. By the way,
• 27:03
Speaker 10: she's practicing for you to make sure she hits her marks,
• 27:07
Speaker 10: because when I walked in, she was practicing. But yeah,
• 27:11
Speaker 10: that was the most insane crowd that I have seen.
• 27:16
Speaker 10: And people said to me, you know, thousands and thousands
• 27:21
Speaker 10: text emails. I'll get to the mall hopefully before the
• 27:25
Speaker 10: middle of the week, hopefully before the end of the
• 27:27
Speaker 10: week of people saying, this is what we're talking about.
• 27:30
Speaker 10: But by the way, David takes money in the City
• 27:32
Speaker 10: of Charleston. We can't afford this. We can't put this
• 27:35
Speaker 10: in our budget. This isn't something that I would be
• 27:39
Speaker 10: willing to take all out of my budget.
• 27:40
  Speaker 11: I can't do that.
• 27:42
Speaker 10: Do we need to be a sponsor and a supporter
• 27:44
Speaker 10: of this with you know, not only our cities teams
• 27:47
Speaker 10: and support and kudos. You know, we watched them till
• 27:51
Speaker 10: the wee hours of the morning, which you know is
• 27:54
Speaker 10: way past my bedtime and early this morning. You go
• 27:57
Speaker 10: down the boulevard and you see who's down there. I mean,
• 27:59
Speaker 10: it's it's looking so fantastic. It doesn't look like we
• 28:03
Speaker 10: had you know that many people in a smaller footprint.
• 28:09
Speaker 10: Always every year we go back every event, we start
• 28:12
Speaker 10: to take notes. I think you've heard me say it
• 28:13
Speaker 10: I call it my picklist, and we look at how
• 28:16
Speaker 10: to improve upon the things that we do. But also
• 28:18
Speaker 10: it's a wonderful opportunity. And thanks to the city council
• 28:21
Speaker 10: members who came out as well, because this is an
• 28:24
Speaker 10: opportunity for them to hear directly from small businesses, directly
• 28:28
Speaker 10: from our sponsors, directly from our visitors and people in
• 28:32
Speaker 10: our community to say hey, by the way, they're not
• 28:34
Speaker 10: just there to talk about Regatta. They're also saying, hey,
• 28:36
Speaker 10: I have this idea. And so from Mary Beth Hoover,
• 28:40
Speaker 10: who might be the biggest volunteer in the entire world,
• 28:44
Speaker 10: she's absolutely amazing. I mean Mary Beth and Caitlin Cooke
• 28:47
Speaker 10: and Chad Robinson and Bruce King and Brent Burton, and
• 28:52
Speaker 10: I mean they were just crushing it for us, our
• 28:55
Speaker 10: Regatta board members. I mean we you know Robbie Queen,
• 28:58
Speaker 10: I think you know Robbie Queen the CMC Foundation, and
• 29:01
Speaker 10: Brian Allowy's with United Way and Tara Ellis and just
• 29:04
Speaker 10: they were out there all the time, Doctor Michelle, Michael Foster.
• 29:08
Speaker 11: They care about this community.
• 29:09
Speaker 10: By the way. You know these names, these are people
• 29:12
Speaker 10: who are intimately engaged and involved and leading the way
• 29:15
Speaker 10: in different aspects and different professions they were engaged involved in.
• 29:20
Speaker 10: By the way, my chief of staff Matthew Sutton, who
• 29:23
Speaker 10: burns the midnight oil at all times, he was also
• 29:26
Speaker 10: talking to thousands upon thousands of people about thousands of
• 29:31
Speaker 10: different issues. So the Regatta is important to the city
• 29:33
Speaker 10: of Charlestown, but it makes us right there connecting one
• 29:38
Speaker 10: on one with the public. And that's another aspect that
• 29:40
Speaker 10: I don't think that people understand.
• 29:41
Speaker 11: What we do in the City of Charleston.
• 29:43
Speaker 4: The feedback. And we don't want to just talk about
• 29:47
Speaker 4: the concerts, because that's.
• 29:48
Speaker 5: What that's what that's the that's what must be con
• 29:50
Speaker 5: fireworks is what most people want to talk about. The
• 29:53
Speaker 5: thing about I will say this is about Lead of Ford.
• 29:56
Speaker 5: You know, we did a promotion on our sister station
• 29:58
Speaker 5: ninety eight seven The Mouth and Wild Wonderful Classic Rock,
• 30:00
Speaker 5: where we gave away backstage passes to meet Lead to
• 30:02
Speaker 5: Ford fifteen twenty or so. That's right, that's right, and
• 30:05
Speaker 5: she was absolutely as cool as she could be. I
• 30:08
Speaker 5: mean with the because sometimes I've been around enough musicians
• 30:11
Speaker 5: to know that sometimes it's a chore and you can
• 30:14
Speaker 5: tell when they're faking it.
• 30:16
Speaker 4: She wasn't faking it. No, I mean genuinely, genuinely.
• 30:20
Speaker 10: She doesn't have to. He doesn't have none of them
• 30:22
Speaker 10: have to, let's be clear. But those performers came to
• 30:26
Speaker 10: really put on a show for us. But I'll say this,
• 30:31
Speaker 10: I had such a good time at the car show yesterday.
• 30:34
Speaker 10: It was so incredibly fun. And these beautiful, beautiful trophies
• 30:38
Speaker 10: that were custom made for our car show folks. And
• 30:42
Speaker 10: the wrestling, the Sternwell Slambery Adam Harris, let me give
• 30:45
Speaker 10: a shout out to him.
• 30:46
Speaker 11: It was absolutely electric. And you know me don't. I
• 30:50
Speaker 11: don't watch wrestling, but it was so it's become a
• 30:54
  Speaker 11: huge matart.
• 30:54
Speaker 4: It's become such a huge part of the event.
• 30:56
Speaker 11: Well, we can't have it in city Center now, we
• 30:58
  Speaker 11: absolutely have it.
• 30:59
Speaker 10: We have to have that. It had Dad Riverfront Park
• 31:02
Speaker 10: and that by the way, we don't pay Adam Harris
• 31:05
Speaker 10: to do this, and he goes out and get sponsors
• 31:07
Speaker 10: for this and they are glad to do it. Tutor's Biscuit,
• 31:11
Speaker 10: the hot dog eating contest, which I'm gonna admit, Dave,
• 31:14
Speaker 10: I have a very hard time watching. Yeah, And of
• 31:16
Speaker 10: course I'm a mother, do you know what I said
• 31:17
Speaker 10: to every single participant, please don't choke, Please take your
• 31:21
Speaker 10: time in cho they're saying, okay, thank you, but Tutor's biscuit.
• 31:25
  Speaker 11: They came in.
• 31:26
Speaker 10: We have to have it there now because there's so
• 31:28
Speaker 10: many people. The Wiener dog races, the funeral my favorite,
• 31:33
Speaker 10: you know, my favorite, the funeral parade. We had more
• 31:36
Speaker 10: people particiing in the funeral parade than ever before. We
• 31:39
Speaker 10: got clogged up, we got jammed because we had so
• 31:42
Speaker 10: many people, and it looked, actually this year like a
• 31:45
Speaker 10: huge funeral breade. There's so many people in the streets.
• 31:48
Speaker 10: My parents came down to watch it against you know.
• 31:51
Speaker 10: I kept saying, it's hot, guys, it's hot, Mom and dad,
• 31:54
Speaker 10: please here you go. But my mom said, there were
• 31:59
Speaker 10: so many people. I could heart really concentrate on anybody
• 32:01
Speaker 10: one person because you'd see this big puppet and you'd
• 32:04
Speaker 10: see this next person, and then the stern wheel races.
• 32:07
Speaker 10: I mean, just ask Brian Hughes literally on the cell
• 32:10
Speaker 10: phone with the entire time with Brian Hughes and Josh
• 32:14
Speaker 10: Scott were sitting there yelling who's in first, who's in second?
• 32:18
  Speaker 11: I can't see it.
• 32:20
Speaker 10: It was just it was absolutely incredible, and it's almost
• 32:27
Speaker 10: like we have this. I don't even have to talk
• 32:30
Speaker 10: to Brian anymore with like words. It's just like we
• 32:33
Speaker 10: look at each other and say that thing, yep I
• 32:35
  Speaker 10: got and.
• 32:36
Speaker 11: The other yep great.
• 32:38
Speaker 10: I literally said that to him, David frees the thing
• 32:41
Speaker 10: you got the and the guy yeah, okay great, and
• 32:43
Speaker 10: he was like, yeah, I got it. We worked now
• 32:45
Speaker 10: together so well and so seamless, with so many people.
• 32:50
Speaker 10: And thanks to the Stern Wheelers for coming. We had
• 32:52
Speaker 10: two Stern Wheelers that turned one hundred years old, the
• 32:55
Speaker 10: rufous B two owned by Lou Wendell who got the
• 32:58
Speaker 10: key to the city, key to the river. And thank
• 33:00
Speaker 10: you to Brian for helping make that happen. And doctor
• 33:05
Speaker 10: EAD's with the Miss Sterling. These boats are beautiful this community.
• 33:09
Speaker 10: By the way, a couple broke down. You know what
• 33:12
Speaker 10: the others did who were in the race.
• 33:13
  Speaker 11: They stopped.
• 33:14
Speaker 10: They stopped and they said, let me help you. It
• 33:17
Speaker 10: is who we are, it is what we do in
• 33:19
Speaker 10: West Virginia and Appalachia. My mom it started raining. Brian said,
• 33:23
Speaker 10: get on the boat.
• 33:24
  Speaker 11: Come on.
• 33:25
Speaker 10: We call my mom honey. By the way, get on
• 33:26
Speaker 10: the get on the boat. Honey, Brian took my mom
• 33:29
  Speaker 10: my moment.
• 33:30
  Speaker 11: It was raining.
• 33:31
Speaker 10: That's what we do for one another. That's why people
• 33:35
Speaker 10: like coming out, That's why people like sponsoring and being
• 33:39
Speaker 10: with us, because we take care of one another. To
• 33:42
Speaker 10: say that I'm always proud to be your mayor is
• 33:44
Speaker 10: an understatement of the year, and I won't.
• 33:46
  Speaker 11: Do this forether.
• 33:48
Speaker 10: But I love what I do because of the people
• 33:51
Speaker 10: I get to work with and the things that I
• 33:53
Speaker 10: get to do. It's not all funny games. By the way,
• 33:55
Speaker 10: I'm going to have probably a thirty minute conversation about
• 33:59
Speaker 10: what I really do, and it's about cement, because that's
• 34:01
Speaker 10: what's on the agenda tonight.
• 34:03
  Speaker 11: It is.
• 34:04
Speaker 10: It's about sanitation, it's about sewer systems. By the way,
• 34:07
Speaker 10: that's what I do, folks. Ninety percent of my time.
• 34:09
Speaker 10: It's about paving. It's about sidewalks, it's about dilapidated structures,
• 34:13
Speaker 10: It's about police and fire and refuse and streets and traffic.
• 34:16
Speaker 10: That is ninety percent. This is ten percent of what
• 34:19
Speaker 10: I do, and I love it. When I'm talking about
• 34:22
Speaker 10: paving and talking about sanitation, and when I'm talking about
• 34:25
Speaker 10: ordinance and rules and better and bigger ordinances.
• 34:29
Speaker 11: To protect you. That's what I also love to do.
• 34:32
Speaker 10: But this is just a time that you know, we
• 34:33
Speaker 10: call this our super bowl, you know of municipal government
• 34:37
Speaker 10: and this administration of the regatta. But what we really
• 34:39
Speaker 10: do is good work because we've got a good team
• 34:42
Speaker 10: and good people. So thanks, thanks for letting me ramble
• 34:45
Speaker 10: on and say that day. But it was it was
• 34:47
Speaker 10: really important for me to say that I'm getting emotional
• 34:49
Speaker 10: this morning. But and maybe it's lack of sleep and
• 34:51
Speaker 10: only had one double cappuccino and normally in the morning
• 34:54
Speaker 10: I have too after working out.
• 34:56
Speaker 11: But I'm real proud today to be with the people

Speaker 10: There they go right off the bridge.
• 39:15
  Speaker 11: Absolutely amazing.
• 39:17
Speaker 10: They all fired up barbecue challenge from Capital Market. The
• 39:21
Speaker 10: Regatta bat came back with it. You know a lot
• 39:23
Speaker 10: of family focused, fun things to do, and that's something
• 39:27
Speaker 10: I think, Brian, that we're really proud of.
• 39:29
  Speaker 4: We really are.
• 39:29
Speaker 2: There are things that there are things that we do
• 39:31
Speaker 2: as Regatta we're nonprofit, but you won't see. And it's
• 39:36
Speaker 2: purposeful because we're doing things in the community behind the scenes.
• 39:39
Speaker 2: And I get chills because she knows what we do.
• 39:43
Speaker 2: But we make sure kids are taking care of That's
• 39:45
Speaker 2: about as much as I'll say. But we just it's
• 39:49
Speaker 2: like the bikes that we do with. Yeah, it was rotary,
• 39:52
Speaker 2: and you know, we've got in on the USA Cycling
• 39:55
Speaker 2: stuff and it's grown every year.
• 39:56
Speaker 10: We give one hundred bikes every way away every year.
• 40:00
Speaker 10: That regarded as to kids, and we tied it in
• 40:03
Speaker 10: with USA Cycling because it was a perfect thing, but
• 40:05
Speaker 10: something to do for the kids and to give back.
• 40:07
Speaker 10: We can't this can't just be about some good It
• 40:10
Speaker 10: can be about a lot of good concerts and fireworks
• 40:12
Speaker 10: and fun, but it always should remain about the kids.
• 40:15
Speaker 10: Because you take care of the kids, everything else works
• 40:16
  Speaker 10: out of correct.
• 40:17
Speaker 2: You know my doctor, as we talked about last week,
• 40:20
Speaker 2: you know her her kids teenagers, they have wanted to
• 40:23
Speaker 2: change the family plans to stay here for regard it
• 40:26
Speaker 2: so fun and I mean they can go anywhere in
• 40:29
Speaker 2: the world they went to they want to stay right
• 40:31
Speaker 2: here West Virginia about it.
• 40:33
Speaker 5: We had a text here it says from Aer Goodwin
• 40:35
Speaker 5: and Brian, you know, maybe you could weigh this as well.
• 40:37
Speaker 5: The fireworks were awesome, but the one thing everybody was
• 40:39
Speaker 5: complaining about why was the music not blasted throughout the
• 40:42
Speaker 5: sound system. If you didn't have an actual radio, you
• 40:44
Speaker 5: had to listen to it streaming online, which has a
• 40:46
Speaker 5: delay and mess up the synchronization. I can speak to
• 40:49
Speaker 5: the streaming aspect though it there's about a forty I
• 40:51
Speaker 5: mean even right now there's about a forty five second
• 40:54
Speaker 5: delay from what is actually on the air. Because that's
• 40:56
Speaker 5: just streaming. We can't we can't help with that. But
• 40:59
Speaker 5: as far as the question about putting it through the.
• 41:01
Speaker 2: I'll tell you this, it's going to be twofold.
• 41:04
  Speaker 15: We do.
• 41:04
Speaker 2: We have devised Logan Scott and I and we've talked
• 41:07
Speaker 2: about a plan next year to beat the delay. So
• 41:12
Speaker 2: there is a plan. But secondly, I obviously work here
• 41:16
  Speaker 2: at WVRC Radio.
• 41:18
Speaker 4: WVRC, I should say we have.
• 41:21
Speaker 2: We've always made sure, even when I worked a Channel thirteen,
• 41:23
Speaker 2: that we are on a level playing field for everybody.
• 41:27
Speaker 2: And you know what's great, we all know each other
• 41:31
Speaker 2: in this business, but everybody so a few of us
• 41:33
Speaker 2: WI laugh right, that is true. There's that, but we
• 41:36
Speaker 2: make sure that we treat everybody fairly same. You know,
• 41:40
Speaker 2: when I was at thirteen, they didn't get a statistical advantage.
• 41:44
Speaker 2: You know, I knew the schedule. I knew, I knew
• 41:46
  Speaker 2: everything about it.
• 41:47
Speaker 10: Actually hit Brett Michaels actually said to me after I
• 41:49
Speaker 10: met him after the concert. He said, Man, if I
• 41:51
Speaker 10: don't know there's just going on, I'd have gotten back
• 41:53
Speaker 10: up on stage and just kept rocking out.
• 41:55
Speaker 11: I said, now you tell me now, A good question.
• 42:00
Speaker 5: And Logan, Logan did a great job and putting that
• 42:02
Speaker 5: together and his team and.
• 42:04
Speaker 2: The backwards way of putting together. Because they had the
• 42:07
Speaker 2: fireworks show done, they give us a shot sheet and
• 42:09
Speaker 2: he produced it in reverse.
• 42:10
Speaker 5: Yeah, in reverse. And he talked about that when he's
• 42:12
Speaker 5: on the air with us on Friday. But again, all
• 42:14
Speaker 5: the stations you know in town, take a take all
• 42:17
Speaker 5: the companies. There's three companies in the town with different
• 42:20
Speaker 5: stations under those umbrellas. And you know, I understand exactly
• 42:23
Speaker 5: because I'm in the business. What you are saying is
• 42:26
Speaker 5: that you know, we can't be the only game in town,
• 42:28
Speaker 5: although we're the only one that matters.
• 42:29
  Speaker 4: I'm kidding.
• 42:31
Speaker 10: Now, all of our media partners were great partners. I
• 42:34
Speaker 10: think Brian can testify to this. I mean, and I
• 42:37
Speaker 10: look forward to see me. Yeah, I mean, I really
• 42:40
Speaker 10: think every single interview that I did throughout the week,
• 42:43
Speaker 10: I kept saying, as I know Brian did as well,
• 42:46
Speaker 10: thank you for doing this, thank you for getting out
• 42:48
Speaker 10: because it's not just quick urgent weather alert, it's also
• 42:51
Speaker 10: what time does something start? And and so we really
• 42:54
Speaker 10: do appreciate all of our media partners, right.
• 42:56
Speaker 4: Uh, Mayor Amy is our rock star, says the Texter.
• 42:59
  Speaker 11: That's a nice thanks mom.
• 43:01
Speaker 4: And the other one said Lida is the Queen of
• 43:04
  Speaker 4: metal man.
• 43:05
Speaker 10: She is she just is yeah, yeah, I mean, yeah
• 43:12
Speaker 10: she is. It is so why Nona is a rock star.
• 43:16
Speaker 10: She she looks like a porcelain doll. She's like god
• 43:21
Speaker 10: and she smells lovely. But when we met her, I don't,
• 43:24

  Speaker 5: out a independence.
• 44:12
Speaker 10: Well when you have an awesome store store like folklore.
• 44:15
Speaker 10: Let me also say about Melissa etheris what she did
• 44:18
Speaker 10: as well. She met privately. It's all over social media now,
• 44:22

• 44:27
  Speaker 10: you well know.
• 44:28
  Speaker 4: And she is.
• 44:29
Speaker 11: She is a survivor.
• 44:30
Speaker 10: And they said to her, when you lost your hair,
• 44:33
Speaker 10: and when you got on stage and were jamming out
• 44:35
Speaker 10: to Janice Joplin with no hair, what you said to

• 47:13
Speaker 5: meeting tonight and there were several ordinances on the agenda tonight. Uh,
• 47:18
Speaker 5: and there was one in particular. There are four proposed
• 47:22
Speaker 5: bills I think that had to do with the treatment
• 47:23
Speaker 5: of animals and that can you talk about that?
• 47:25
Speaker 10: Yeah? Right, and the work continues for sure. There's a
• 47:28
Speaker 10: couple that are for consideration tonight and brought by council
• 47:32
Speaker 10: members King and steel Hammer requiring pet owners to automatically
• 47:37
Speaker 10: forfeit ownership of their animals if they're charged with certain
• 47:39
Speaker 10: offenses and failure to appear animal cruelty. It's going to
• 47:44
Speaker 10: add bigger penalties for subsequent offenses and so you know,
• 47:50
Speaker 10: cruelty to animals is something that our council members have
• 47:53
Speaker 10: discussed and talked about, and tonight they are going to
• 47:57
Speaker 10: put that for a vote. A lot of support behind it,
• 48:00
Speaker 10: and you know, listen in municipal government. A couple other
• 48:02
Speaker 10: things that we're doing is you know, approven contracts for
• 48:05
Speaker 10: cement as as well. That doesn't always make uh for
• 48:09
Speaker 10: good news, but by the way, that is the important. Yeah,
• 48:14
Speaker 10: that is the work that we do.
• 48:15
Speaker 5: Everything is not everything is not necessarily exciting, as you know,
• 48:18
Speaker 5: but but you have to have it.
• 48:20
Speaker 11: We have a text and Sean Taylor as well, consumer with.
• 48:22
Speaker 5: Taylor Texas you should paint the work out a pavement
• 48:24
Speaker 5: white to reduce heat.
• 48:25
  Speaker 11: Oh yeah, I.
• 48:28
Speaker 5: Don't know whether we can do that or not, but okay,
• 48:30
Speaker 5: we'll take a look at thet No, I get it.
• 48:33
Speaker 4: So what's next for the City of Trust under this
• 48:35
Speaker 4: a little bit of rest? I get it?
• 48:37
Speaker 10: Uh, but well no, not not really, not really, yeah, no,
• 48:41
Speaker 10: not really, And that's okay. By the way, that's what
• 48:43
Speaker 10: you pay us to do. You pay us to continue
• 48:45
Speaker 10: to work. You pay us to get up in the
• 48:46
Speaker 10: morning and keep going on with our.
• 48:49
Speaker 11: With our jobs. By the way.
• 48:50
Speaker 10: This was a holiday weekend and every single city employee,
• 48:53
Speaker 10: a lot of us were working, and so thank you,
• 48:55
Speaker 10: thank you. But we love what we do and so
• 48:58
Speaker 10: we're going to continue to do it. We've got a
• 49:00
Speaker 10: lot of things happening this summer, still continuing. Of course,
• 49:03
Speaker 10: are live on the levee. Not just that, but again,
• 49:06
Speaker 10: one of the largest paving cycles we are going through
• 49:09
Speaker 10: is happening right now. So we're going to continue to
• 49:11
Speaker 10: pave streets and do curb cuts and ADA ramps and
• 49:16
Speaker 10: those are also the things that we do in the
• 49:18
Speaker 10: summertime as well, Dave, So we're going to remain focused
• 49:20
  Speaker 10: on that, sir.
• 49:21
Speaker 5: Also, I didn't want to mention that with what was
• 49:24
Speaker 5: going on at the Capitol, you know, yeah, yeah, So
• 49:27
Speaker 5: it was like triple the amount of because you guys,
• 49:30
Speaker 5: I know that primarily with the as far as police goes,
• 49:33
Speaker 5: it was state and it was capital, but you guys
• 49:35
Speaker 5: were involved in that, so you had all the people
• 49:38
Speaker 5: in regard plus on the other end of the town.
• 49:40
Speaker 4: You had that going on.
• 49:41
Speaker 10: So it was a big ask, sure, and we're glad
• 49:43
Speaker 10: to have it. And you know, we talk about police
• 49:45
Speaker 10: and fire. Let me mention KRT. Thank you to Sean
• 49:47
Speaker 10: Hill and his team at KRT talk about good community partners,
• 49:51
Speaker 10: but we think about those in the sidewalks and streets
• 49:54
Speaker 10: and cars and people moving in and out. Don't forget
• 49:56
Speaker 10: the riverfront as well. We had our police crews and
• 49:59
Speaker 10: our fire crew out on their boats patrolling, working with folks.
• 50:03
Speaker 10: I sat and watched them even late last night as
• 50:06
Speaker 10: we were making the transition from one one act to
• 50:09
Speaker 10: the next. Our police boat go up to a boat
• 50:11
Speaker 10: and say, hey, how you guys doing It's it's getting
• 50:14
  Speaker 10: kind of dark.
• 50:14
  Speaker 11: I see you have kiddo's swimming, y'all.
• 50:16
Speaker 10: Okay, remember what our rules are, so please know that
• 50:19
Speaker 10: it's not just the guys that you see patrolling the streets.
• 50:22
Speaker 10: They're also out in the river making sure that people
• 50:25
Speaker 10: are being safe, and of course during this time of year,
• 50:27
Speaker 10: that's critical in the city of Charleston. We want to
• 50:29
Speaker 10: keep you safe on the road and in the water.
• 50:32
