- 0:14Speaker 1: It's when they had the World Cup in Germany. That's
- 0:17Speaker 1: such a good place.
- 0:18Speaker 2: To watch this. Beer, soccer, massive fans all coming together.
- 0:22Speaker 1: So crazy. Yes. And I didn't even know anything about
- 0:25Speaker 1: the World Cup. I was just this American kid just
- 0:28Speaker 1: traveling because I had I was just getting lost in
- 0:32Speaker 1: the world. And every time I went to a country,
- 0:36Speaker 1: when I'd leave it, they'd lose. But it was super interesting.
- 0:41Speaker 2: And they take their football seriously.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So serious. I was like, this is insane. And I
- 0:45Speaker 1: remember I was in London and I was watching them play.
- 0:48Speaker 1: And I was there while they lost their match. And
- 0:51Speaker 1: it was the saddest. Like, it was already gloomy. And
- 0:54Speaker 1: it was like, fuck, these guys are pissed.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Well, England-Germany is one of the biggest rivalries ever in soccer.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Well, in life, arguably. But in soccer specifically. And so, yes,
- 1:04Speaker 2: that's always been.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Where are you originally from?
- 1:07Speaker 2: I'm from England.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Oh, you're from, okay, okay.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So, big England fan. I'm a citizen now. I just
- 1:11Speaker 3: became a citizen last year.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Oh, congrats.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that's exciting.
- 1:15Speaker 3: But so I don't know if they come up together.
- 1:18Speaker 3: My husband and I were talking about this.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Deep down, I'd still support England.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Deep down, deep down, man.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I mean, you know, you can't take away what's been
- 1:27Speaker 3: your core.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, it's just, yeah. And I think when's
- 1:30Speaker 1: the last time they won? It's like in the aughts, right? Yeah, 66.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Oh, 66.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Okay, okay.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I think off the top of my head, sounds about right.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Where are you located? Where were you originally in England?
- 1:42Speaker 3: So I'm just down the road from Wimbledon where they
- 1:45Speaker 3: play the tennis in southeast London.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I'm in a little spot called Surrey. But yes, I'm
- 1:50Speaker 2: about 30 minutes out of London.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah, no, when I was staying there because I went and...
- 1:57Speaker 1: Stood with my buddy who I lived with them for
- 1:59Speaker 1: a little bit in Brighton.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I know. Well, Brighton's rad. Yeah, it's rad. It's cool.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It's a little college, a little uni city. Yeah. I know.
- 2:07Speaker 2: It's so fun.
- 2:08Speaker 3: That's where they did the big concert, the big Fatboy
- 2:10Speaker 3: Slim concert, which is one of my favorite albums to
- 2:13Speaker 3: this day to still listen to.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I wasn't there, but I was just too young by
- 2:17Speaker 2: a couple of years. But my God, I would have
- 2:19Speaker 2: killed to be at one of those concerts.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and then I remember watching this movie called Mirror Mask,
- 2:24Speaker 1: and it was all shot in Brighton. And I was like, oh,
- 2:27Speaker 1: I know that place. I go right around there. There's
- 2:29Speaker 1: the Odon movie theater. I was like, I know it.
- 2:31Speaker 1: It's so cool. I had a really, really good time.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden I got to learn
- 2:37Speaker 1: what Sunday Roast was.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Yes. Oh, my God, Sunday Roast. I miss it.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So good.
- 2:42Speaker 3: That is not just like ripping people apart on a
- 2:44Speaker 3: Sunday for comedian fans.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 2:46Speaker 2: That's not what that is.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah, roasts had a whole different meaning before five years ago.
- 2:50Speaker 2: A Sunday roast sounds like shitting on religion, doesn't it?
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Or just everyone just shitting on each other.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It's like everyone gets it. Everyone.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Everyone gets it.
- 2:59Speaker 2: It kind of is that.
- 3:00Speaker 3: There's a certain element of a Sunday roast, which is
- 3:03Speaker 3: your aunt shitting on what you.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Did last week or whatever.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 3: But yes, no, it's the good old roast chicken, roast beef, whatever,
- 3:10Speaker 3: covered in roast potatoes gravy but british gravy good gravy
- 3:14Speaker 3: none of that big thick gloopy stuff you have.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah um yorkshire puddings yeah yorkshire puddings oh my god
- 3:20Speaker 2: but like mint sauce on top.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Oh it's so good it's so i was like i
- 3:24Speaker 1: go i would because i was like i can't wait
- 3:26Speaker 1: for sunday again because where are we gonna go there
- 3:28Speaker 1: i was like i wanted to go back to the
- 3:29Speaker 1: same spot and they go no we gotta we like
- 3:31Speaker 1: that was the thing too about traveling because my buddy
- 3:33Speaker 1: was a big traveler and he was like well you
- 3:34Speaker 1: already did it so why are we gonna go back
- 3:36Speaker 1: let's go somewhere else and try it and i was
- 3:38Speaker 1: like oh And every time I went, it was like,
- 3:39Speaker 1: it is good. It's good. Like, well, and I didn't,
- 3:43Speaker 1: it was so great. Like traveling for me when I
- 3:46Speaker 1: first started doing, I was like 19. I was telling
- 3:48Speaker 1: the last comic that we're had in here. I was like,
- 3:51Speaker 1: I stole like all this money from this movie theater
- 3:53Speaker 1: and I had like five grand on me. And this
- 3:54Speaker 1: is back when the, the, the, the Euro was being introduced.
- 3:59Speaker 1: So when I moved out, when I went, when I,
- 4:01Speaker 1: when I went over to travel, all my, my dollar
- 4:03Speaker 1: gained a quarter. And so it was even better. And
- 4:06Speaker 1: I was like, oh, this, but, I went in the
- 4:08Speaker 1: hot– I didn't realize this until I watched a documentary
- 4:11Speaker 1: about the weather. And he was like, it's the hottest
- 4:15Speaker 1: summer ever recorded. It was in 2002 or 2003 in Europe.
- 4:21Speaker 1: And I was just like, oh, that would suck to
- 4:23Speaker 1: have been there. And then it dawned on me, no,
- 4:24Speaker 1: I was there, and it did suck.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Yeah. We're not used to extremes of anything. It's not
- 4:31Speaker 2: very good at extremes of anything.
- 4:32Speaker 1: That's what they were talking about too, about the soccer player.
- 4:34Speaker 1: All the football players were like, can't handle this heat
- 4:37Speaker 1: over here. Yeah, for sure.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, that's going to be intense. We'll see.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And when did you come to the States?
- 4:44Speaker 2: So, God, like 18 years ago now.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:47Speaker 2: It's nuts. I was 28 when I moved.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I think it's going to be weird for me in
- 4:52Speaker 3: like another five years when I've been here as long
- 4:54Speaker 3: as I've been there.
- 4:55Speaker 2: That's going to be the real, because.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I still feel so core British, you know, so that's
- 5:00Speaker 3: going to be weird.
- 5:01Speaker 2: But yeah, 18 years I've been here now.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Wow.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Which is crazy.
- 5:03Speaker 3: I moved here in And then my job took me
- 5:07Speaker 3: up to L.A., so I was up in L.A.
- 5:08Speaker 2: For nine years. I say L.A., I was in Hermosa Beach,
- 5:12Speaker 2: which is way better.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Than L.A.
- 5:14Speaker 3: And then, yeah, I had my twins. My husband and
- 5:17Speaker 3: I had our twins, and I just wanted to get
- 5:19Speaker 3: out of L.A.
- 5:19Speaker 2: And come back down.
- 5:20Speaker 1: You've had twins?
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Twin boys I've got.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Oh, yeah? How old are they?
- 5:25Speaker 2: So they're 10.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Yeah, they just finished fourth grade today.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Really? Okay.
- 5:29Speaker 3: So we picked them up at lunchtime, took them for
- 5:31Speaker 3: pizza at Pizza Port and watched football, yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Oh, that's awesome. What a great day.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah, a good day.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and now the boys are going to be home
- 5:39Speaker 1: hanging out for the summer. I know, I know.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, they're awesome. I've already told them, two hours a
- 5:43Speaker 2: day on your iPad, that's it. That's the battle now.
- 5:46Speaker 2: It's just get off your freaking iPad all day long.
- 5:47Speaker 1: That's crazy to me. Because, yeah, when I was a kid,
- 5:50Speaker 1: that was another thing. I know. It's probably a constant.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I don't know how many kids, so I don't know,
- 5:54Speaker 1: but that's probably a constant battle.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 1: They're like, Hey, Hey, up here, here, here. Be present.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It was, the big thing was like, you can't play
- 6:01Speaker 1: a video games, turn it off. You're done. That was
- 6:03Speaker 1: the big thing for us.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I just wanted to get out and get on their
- 6:05Speaker 3: bikes and stuff. And they're just not into it.
- 6:07Speaker 1: They're not. No, it's, it's interesting. It's interesting to grow
- 6:10Speaker 1: up in this time because like, you know, uh, it's
- 6:14Speaker 1: so fast. It's like, technology is such a fast thing.
- 6:17Speaker 1: It's like, You don't even have to leave your home anymore.
- 6:20Speaker 1: You can get food delivered. You don't have to go
- 6:23Speaker 1: to a movie theater anymore. The movie will get right
- 6:25Speaker 1: there on demand. I remember having to wait forever for
- 6:27Speaker 1: the movie to come on VHS. And now it's like, oh,
- 6:30Speaker 1: it's just everything's so instant. It's crazy.
- 6:33Speaker 2: It's fun figuring out what type of a mom you are, though,
- 6:35Speaker 2: because I'm just like, just go. Get out of the house.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Go to the park. And other moms are like, you
- 6:39Speaker 2: let your 10-year-olds go to the park by yourself?
- 6:41Speaker 1: And I'm like, no. Absolutely.
- 6:43Speaker 2: The quicker I can shoo them off, the better.
- 6:44Speaker 1: They've got to figure it out.
- 6:45Speaker 3: But I disguise it as being like a mother just saying,
- 6:48Speaker 3: they've got to learn.
- 6:49Speaker 5: How to get on in this world.
- 6:51Speaker 2: You've got to disguise it the right way, and then
- 6:54Speaker 2: you're all good.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And then so you got into stand-up. Did you start
- 6:57Speaker 1: it over there, or you started it here?
- 6:58Speaker 2: No, I started it here. I started it... After the kids,
- 7:01Speaker 2: just any excuse to get out.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Of the house. They weren't leaving, so I said, I'm
- 7:06Speaker 1: going to leave.
- 7:06Speaker 2: I'm going to leave my husband at home.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I left him at home with four-year-old twin boys for
- 7:11Speaker 3: a bunch of shitty open mics when I first started.
- 7:14Speaker 2: It was brilliant. Genius idea by me. And yeah, it
- 7:18Speaker 2: stuck and I love it.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Yeah. And you started here in San Diego then?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Started in San Diego, yeah.
- 7:24Speaker 3: So probably just before COVID. So I'm going on six,
- 7:28Speaker 3: seven years. And it was weird for me because I
- 7:31Speaker 3: think I literally started maybe three, four months before COVID.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So I was really still so green, so new.
- 7:38Speaker 3: So I did a bunch of the COVID open mics,
- 7:40Speaker 3: like the online stuff, which for me came at a
- 7:43Speaker 3: great time. Because, I mean, comedy, it's mum stuff, you know,
- 7:47Speaker 3: which is hard to do in open mics.
- 7:49Speaker 2: You've got a different type of crowd.
- 7:51Speaker 3: You certainly don't get, you know, the middle-aged mum crowds
- 7:54Speaker 3: coming out to open mics.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So, you know, you can't it's hard enough to tell
- 7:57Speaker 2: if your jokes work. And, you know, if you're a
- 7:59Speaker 2: 22 year old dude, let alone if you're me. But
- 8:02Speaker 2: it's perfect timing for me.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I just was able to just get more comfortable doing
- 8:08Speaker 3: my kind of five minutes online.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Most people hated it, but I liked it. It just
- 8:12Speaker 2: hit for the right time.
- 8:13Speaker 3: And then after I was able to hit the ground
- 8:15Speaker 3: running with my type five, you know, that had taken
- 8:18Speaker 3: me a while to get down.
- 8:21Speaker 2: And then and then, yeah.
- 8:22Speaker 1: And did you ever do the outside when they started?
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yes, I did it a bunch.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Do you know, I actually think the comedy community in
- 8:28Speaker 3: San Diego came together beautifully during COVID. We really kind of,
- 8:31Speaker 3: we all weirdly had each other's backs. And as soon
- 8:34Speaker 3: as we could get out, we were all out. We
- 8:36Speaker 3: were all doing the mics down in the beach down
- 8:40Speaker 3: in Mission Bay. And we did a couple of bikes
- 8:43Speaker 3: in the dumpsters around the.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Back of Mic Drop.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Really? Seriously?
- 8:46Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Okay, wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Just down that alley and up that alley where the
- 8:50Speaker 3: dumpsters are we had a couple.
- 8:52Speaker 4: Of mics there for sure hilarious we had a couple
- 8:54Speaker 4: of mics in the parking lot of the Dave and
- 8:56Speaker 4: Busters that got busted up by the police yeah we
- 8:59Speaker 4: were wherever we could so.
- 9:03Speaker 3: We'd but it was just it was a really kind
- 9:05Speaker 3: of fun community where it had been kind of slightly
- 9:07Speaker 3: cliquey before all of a sudden we were just all
- 9:11Speaker 3: in it together just however we could possibly we came
- 9:14Speaker 3: out with a little mic condoms.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Remember yeah that's right I totally forgot about those yeah
- 9:19Speaker 1: It's so, so fast. Um, it's so funny cause like
- 9:22Speaker 1: doing the, um, uh, the outside ones, it was like really,
- 9:25Speaker 1: really tough because, you know, cause sound leaves. So it
- 9:28Speaker 1: goes up. So like even in a, in a big room,
- 9:31Speaker 1: you know, you might think you're doing terribly, but they're like, no,
- 9:34Speaker 1: it's just the laughs are leaving. So like doing it.
- 9:35Speaker 2: That was my excuse and I was sticking with it.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Everything. And because, uh, California didn't open up for like, uh,
- 9:41Speaker 1: like almost like what else? Two, almost two years. Right.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Like, I think depends where you were in California. San
- 9:47Speaker 3: Diego was pretty liberal. LA was different for sure. But
- 9:52Speaker 3: San Diego down here, we were probably doing things we
- 9:54Speaker 3: shouldn't be doing.
- 9:56Speaker 1: For reals. I know. like definitely they I was like.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Comics are rebels I feel like at heart comics are
- 10:03Speaker 3: rebels it's.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Like we have to do something I was my home
- 10:06Speaker 1: comedy club Laughs Unlimited would Jenny was at a Jenny
- 10:13Speaker 1: is an owner and she was at a a silent
- 10:17Speaker 1: silent disco okay yeah she was like, maybe we could
- 10:21Speaker 1: do this as a standup. So what she did is she, she,
- 10:23Speaker 1: that she did that and started that all up. Like
- 10:27Speaker 1: that whole thing came from, from Sacramento, like it's, and from, from,
- 10:30Speaker 1: from laughs unlimited. Yeah. And it was funny because like
- 10:32Speaker 1: she had been doing it for like months on months
- 10:35Speaker 1: and months and months. And, um, And it was, and
- 10:39Speaker 1: then all of a sudden it started popping up other
- 10:41Speaker 1: places and then people were giving them credit for it.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, hell nah. I was like, no,
- 10:45Speaker 1: we've been doing this. This starts here. Like we've been
- 10:48Speaker 1: doing this. This came from her. And it's so funny
- 10:51Speaker 1: because Jenny's very like, she's like, I don't need any credit.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I was like, no, fuck that. I was like.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you do, Jenny.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yeah. I was like, because it's one of those things
- 10:59Speaker 1: where it's like, you know, like Jenny and Laughs Unlimited,
- 11:04Speaker 1: that club is like so like innovative. And so, and
- 11:06Speaker 1: it's still like, it's, it's. it's not part of a
- 11:09Speaker 1: conglomerate and like that, but it's still going strong and
- 11:11Speaker 1: it really puts up comics that just are funny. It's like,
- 11:16Speaker 1: we're selling the brand, we're not selling the comic here.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And I love that about Jenny's Club. And it will
- 11:21Speaker 1: get people like, I'm not going to include you, but
- 11:24Speaker 1: like me, that's not famous or not, You know, but
- 11:28Speaker 1: just funny. Like, I don't want to, like, say that
- 11:29Speaker 1: you're not famous. I don't want to be like. I'm not.
- 11:30Speaker 1: We can both agree with that fact. Because I never
- 11:33Speaker 1: know how certain comics egos are. It's like, he doesn't
- 11:36Speaker 1: fucking even know. I'm just saying, like, the comics that
- 11:38Speaker 1: are just purely just funny, a shot to have a
- 11:41Speaker 1: lot of time. It's like that. Yeah.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Which doesn't happen a lot these days.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yeah. It's disappearing quick.
- 11:47Speaker 1: The name of the game is completely changed.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Over in the technology, such a short span
- 11:52Speaker 1: of time. I was seeing something, too, about, like, TikTok
- 11:55Speaker 1: is starting to say that they're not going to be
- 11:57Speaker 1: pushing comedy anymore.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Oh.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Which is, like, in our stand-up. So it's like, oh,
- 12:02Speaker 1: so how are we going to... So if we post
- 12:07Speaker 1: stand-up clips, they're like, no, we're not going to use this.
- 12:10Speaker 1: So now comics are going to have to, like, turn
- 12:12Speaker 1: their attention to what other content to create in order
- 12:15Speaker 1: to get back on the algorithm.
- 12:18Speaker 2: That's crazy to me. Give the people what they want.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I mean.
- 12:21Speaker 2: If you're killing it with the reels, you're doing something right.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Yeah. But also, too, it's like, oh, well, I wanted
- 12:27Speaker 1: to do stand-up. You know, and you guys want to
- 12:29Speaker 1: advertise me if I do stand-up. So now I've got to, like, oh,
- 12:33Speaker 1: now I've got to do challenges? Now I've got to
- 12:34Speaker 1: do trends?
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah, see that.
- 12:36Speaker 1: It's so crazy and interesting. But so, yeah. You said
- 12:43Speaker 1: your job brought you to the States.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it was very boring.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I was in publishing back in the UK. So that
- 12:50Speaker 3: was the day job, but always a performer. I sang
- 12:52Speaker 3: in a band. I wasn't in comedy in England, though.
- 12:54Speaker 3: I was in a band for 10 years. So the
- 12:56Speaker 3: night job was singing in a band.
- 12:58Speaker 2: I loved it. Like corporate stuff, just a bunch of covers,
- 13:01Speaker 2: but it was great fun.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So you're a singer? Yeah.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I moved over here thinking I'd do more singing. I
- 13:07Speaker 3: literally came over and I thought, all right, I'll join
- 13:10Speaker 3: a band. I'll do that in the evenings. And it
- 13:12Speaker 3: turns out a good singer in England is rare.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Over here, they're a dime a dozen, especially when you
- 13:19Speaker 2: end up in LA, right? There's a good singer on
- 13:21Speaker 2: every street corner.
- 13:22Speaker 1: I went to a karaoke night in L.A. once, and
- 13:25Speaker 1: I was like, oh, no, I'm not getting up there.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Oh, my God, right? They're like full pros. They're just
- 13:30Speaker 2: the karaoke pros.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Once I seen someone put their finger to their ear
- 13:33Speaker 1: like this, I was like, I'm done. Oh, my God.
- 13:37Speaker 3: So I went to a karaoke bar recently that was
- 13:41Speaker 3: a full live band karaoke.
- 13:44Speaker 2: How cool is that? That should happen.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So cool.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Live band. It just felt like the good old days
- 13:50Speaker 2: for me. I was like, oh my God, I got
- 13:51Speaker 2: my bassist behind me. I was like jamming out. It
- 13:54Speaker 2: felt so good.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 3: I want to bring that back. More live band karaoke.
- 13:59Speaker 1: You started letting him ad-lib. Yeah. Give it up for
- 14:01Speaker 1: Dennis in the corner.
- 14:01Speaker 2: So in publishing, came over, job was here.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And then I got a job up at Variety Magazine
- 14:14Speaker 3: up in LA, which should be up there.
- 14:16Speaker 2: But still, the heart was always in performing.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Performing and stuff like that. Who were your inspirations for
- 14:21Speaker 1: singing or who were your admirers?
- 14:24Speaker 2: So, I mean, Gwen Stefani.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Gwen Stefani was my absolute. Yeah, she's just so rad.
- 14:29Speaker 2: She's at the Sphere right now.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I wanted to get out there, but I didn't,
- 14:32Speaker 2: but I hear it's so good.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Oh, I wish we would have met like a week earlier. Okay,
- 14:36Speaker 1: so my cousin, she had her ankle on surgery. Yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 1: And she was like, and she told me like a
- 14:42Speaker 1: month ago, she was like, if my ankle's okay, then
- 14:45Speaker 1: I'm going to go to the concert, but if not, I,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know, but she hit me up the day before.
- 14:49Speaker 1: This was last week. And she goes, hey, I totally
- 14:51Speaker 1: forgot that I have these tickets. I have two. Do
- 14:54Speaker 1: you want them? And I was like, yeah, sure, sure.
- 14:56Speaker 1: And then I was like, but I didn't have anybody
- 14:57Speaker 1: else to go with.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Oh, I'd have gone with you.
- 15:00Speaker 1: No, man. I'd have been like, yo, man, dude, we'd have,
- 15:03Speaker 1: because like, that's the thing too, to find someone that'll
- 15:05Speaker 1: just enjoy the concert. Yeah. Because someone will just go
- 15:07Speaker 1: just to take the Instagram picture or reel or whatever
- 15:09Speaker 1: the fuck, just to say they were there. Yeah. But
- 15:11Speaker 1: then to get someone that'll really appreciate it, like, yo, like,
- 15:13Speaker 1: I'm walking in a spider web. Yeah. Because me and
- 15:19Speaker 1: Nikki drove up here, you know, because I'm in Vegas. Okay, okay.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Me and Nikki are out of Vegas. And we listened
- 15:25Speaker 1: to nothing but We went all old school 90s. Love it.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Like alt music and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Once we put on Nude Out, we're like, this album,
- 15:33Speaker 1: there's no skip.
- 15:34Speaker 2: She's just iconic. I think I just, I love the fashion.
- 15:37Speaker 3: I loved, she somehow had this way of connecting with
- 15:41Speaker 3: everyday people, but being kind of edgy and unique in
- 15:43Speaker 3: the same way.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And trying new things. Yes.
- 15:47Speaker 3: And I think for me, what was so interesting about her,
- 15:49Speaker 3: she was never the best singer.
- 15:51Speaker 2: And she didn't give a shit. She's just a phenomenal performer.
- 15:54Speaker 3: And I definitely thought myself at that. And I think
- 15:58Speaker 3: of myself for that in comedy as well.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I'm like, you know what?
- 16:00Speaker 3: I'm never going to be the best joke writer. I'm
- 16:02Speaker 3: never going to be the best comedian, but I always
- 16:05Speaker 3: get up there and put on a show.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Yeah. And to me, I'm like, you know what? If, if,
- 16:08Speaker 2: if you can say you do that, that's half the battle.
- 16:10Speaker 1: If I'm having fun. I mean, yeah. Cause it's like,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I always tell like, like when, like, like the, cause
- 16:15Speaker 1: we have the winter classes here and stuff like that. And,
- 16:17Speaker 1: you know, sometimes I'll present. And I was like, if
- 16:19Speaker 1: you like your joke so much, they're going to like
- 16:21Speaker 1: it too. They didn't come not to like it. They
- 16:23Speaker 1: didn't come not to boo you. They want to enjoy
- 16:25Speaker 1: themselves too. And it's like, it's a big thing of
- 16:26Speaker 1: show and tell. It's like, you're so happy in class.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Like I got this new little thing. And it's just
- 16:31Speaker 1: a presentation that could also sell a joke or just
- 16:33Speaker 1: like get you to the performance. But it's so funny
- 16:36Speaker 1: that you said that about Gwen Stefani because we were
- 16:38Speaker 1: talking about that. But also too, and inspirations too in
- 16:43Speaker 1: standup or in comedy. Do you have any? Yeah.
- 16:46Speaker 3: See, that's weird because it's the opposite. I'm inspired by people,
- 16:49Speaker 3: the absolute opposite of me. So I really like the
- 16:53Speaker 3: dark humor, which I have tried on stage and doesn't work.
- 16:55Speaker 3: But I'm a full Ricky Gervais, Jim Jefferies, Jessel Nick.
- 17:03Speaker 3: The more darker and twisted, the better. I love old
- 17:07Speaker 3: school Mitch Hedberg one-liners. I love a good one-liner comic.
- 17:11Speaker 1: It's my wife's favorite.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Really?
- 17:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Dimitri Martin.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And he's so smart like that.
- 17:17Speaker 2: I love that.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I love that smart but stupid. When you get that
- 17:20Speaker 3: mix of smart and stupid, to me, that's the beautiful,
- 17:24Speaker 3: I just think Dimitri's jokes are so, they're so ridiculous.
- 17:28Speaker 3: But only a really smart person could come up with them.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Because they're so ridiculous.
- 17:32Speaker 3: There's something about that, that I love that smart, stupid mix. I,
- 17:37Speaker 3: I'm like, same thing with you.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Like I, I, I really love dark humor because I got,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I can't do it. Yeah. So I get to just
- 17:44Speaker 1: enjoy it.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I just get to be entertained by it. And I
- 17:47Speaker 1: was like, where is this going? Or like, they're letting
- 17:49Speaker 1: it sit like that. And I couldn't, I just don't
- 17:51Speaker 1: have the confidence into letting people like, cause you got
- 17:54Speaker 1: to really have a lot of confidence in for them
- 17:56Speaker 1: to understand that it's a joke. Yes.
- 17:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:59Speaker 1: And it's like, or like, If you get offended, it's okay.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And to not give a shit. I give a shit.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Yeah. I give a shit too much.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I had a couple of jokes that were edgier when
- 18:08Speaker 3: I first started. And I had a few people come
- 18:11Speaker 3: up to me afterwards saying they offended them. And I
- 18:13Speaker 3: never did the jokes anymore. Which really pisses me off.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Because I think they were funny. And I think maybe
- 18:18Speaker 3: I just hadn't got them right yet.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I probably should have carried on working them. And I didn't.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Because it hurt my heart so much that I offended
- 18:28Speaker 3: these people.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Especially when I've got a... I've got a book of
- 18:30Speaker 2: other jokes that don't offend anyone.
- 18:33Speaker 3: So, and I was like, just do them then. So
- 18:35Speaker 3: I'm kind of on the fence. I'm just not, I
- 18:39Speaker 3: just don't, I don't, I'm not a combative person.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I don't like offending people.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I know that's a big part. A lot of comics
- 18:46Speaker 3: see that as a big part of their job.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I don't. And I admire the ones that do.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I'm like, great.
- 18:53Speaker 3: I do think a comedian's job is to push boundaries.
- 18:55Speaker 3: And if you're that type of comedian.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I definitely.
- 18:59Speaker 3: I see myself more as a kind of bring joy,
- 19:02Speaker 3: jazz hands kind of comedian.
- 19:04Speaker 2: And do I want to be that?
- 19:05Speaker 1: No.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I wish I was a bit cooler, but I'm not.
- 19:08Speaker 2: You are who you are. You just got to roll
- 19:09Speaker 2: with it.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah. I totally agree with you, though, because I do think, too,
- 19:13Speaker 1: like my job is to make everyone enjoy their time spent.
- 19:17Speaker 1: So it's like and I'm not trying to offend in
- 19:19Speaker 1: order to, you know, I'm not looking for reaction. I'm
- 19:22Speaker 1: looking for laughter. Yeah. And so it's like, okay. And if,
- 19:25Speaker 1: and if I'm, and if you're getting a reaction, then okay,
- 19:27Speaker 1: then I need to be better at my job at
- 19:28Speaker 1: fixing this to where like, it's like you, even if
- 19:32Speaker 1: it is offensive that you understand where it's coming from
- 19:35Speaker 1: and you can take the time out and laugh at it. Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 1: So that's the whole like reworking it and the restructuring it.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Or like you said, like you wish you would have
- 19:41Speaker 1: just kept it, kept it going and figuring it out.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Cause that's the beauty of the comedy thing. It's like
- 19:45Speaker 1: to figure this out. How do I figure, okay, boom, boom. Okay.
- 19:48Speaker 1: That didn't work. Okay. Now, you know, what maybe the
- 19:50Speaker 1: tone it's the tone yeah i'm saying it as it's
- 19:53Speaker 1: a fact or maybe i should say it as a
- 19:55Speaker 1: surprise and there it works there it is and it's
- 19:57Speaker 1: like and it's like no i'm not offended i had
- 19:59Speaker 1: someone tell me that too one time they go hey
- 20:00Speaker 1: when you do that joke about that because i had
- 20:02Speaker 1: this joke about you know i think uh yogurt is
- 20:05Speaker 1: ice cream's gay cousin and they were like yeah and
- 20:08Speaker 1: they're They were like, that's so rude, like da-da-da-da. And
- 20:10Speaker 1: I was like, no, it's funny because like ice cream,
- 20:15Speaker 1: sometimes it sucks, you know, because it makes your teeth
- 20:18Speaker 1: all da-da-da. I was like, but yogurt comes out in
- 20:20Speaker 1: a swirl ready to party and eh. I was like,
- 20:23Speaker 1: yogurt seems so much more fun, you know. And I
- 20:26Speaker 1: was like, but yeah. And so I reworked and reworked
- 20:29Speaker 1: until like I kind of felt like If you're going
- 20:33Speaker 1: to get offended by this, then that means that you
- 20:35Speaker 1: just want to be offended by it. Yes. And you're not...
- 20:37Speaker 1: And so that's not... That's not my problem now.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Totally.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Then you're just an angry person.
- 20:40Speaker 3: In hindsight, I think it depends who you're offending as well. Like,
- 20:44Speaker 3: if I say a joke that offends some 50-year-old white woman, Karen, then,
- 20:49Speaker 3: you know, fuck it.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I don't care. Like, you know, if it's someone.
- 20:54Speaker 3: like me, I don't really want to say it like that,
- 20:57Speaker 3: but you know, but I think that this particular joke
- 20:59Speaker 3: I was working on offended.
- 21:01Speaker 2: This like, rad 22 year old black woman.
- 21:06Speaker 3: And I was like, probably don't want to be going
- 21:09Speaker 3: down that, whatever you're saying. It was something to do with,
- 21:11Speaker 3: it was two of the Spice Girls, And I was
- 21:13Speaker 3: trying to work this joke that you've got Baby.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Spice, right?
- 21:17Speaker 3: Because she looked cute and she had the pigtails. You've
- 21:19Speaker 3: got Posh Spice because she's in a black dress. I'm like,
- 21:22Speaker 3: the British press gave all these people these names. You
- 21:24Speaker 3: know what they called the black one?
- 21:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Scary Spice. How could they get away with that? I
- 21:29Speaker 2: was like, this is a good premise.
- 21:30Speaker 1: That is.
- 21:31Speaker 2: There's a good joke somewhere in here.
- 21:33Speaker 1: It's a great observation.
- 21:33Speaker 2: And I kept trying different ways.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 21:35Speaker 3: And I couldn't nail it. So I'll go back to
- 21:38Speaker 3: it one day and I'll try and figure it out.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Because there's something there.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah. It is. There's a, it's a great observation. It's like, yeah,
- 21:44Speaker 1: it's like everything. Why did everyone get the cooler name?
- 21:46Speaker 1: It's like, what the fuck? Yeah, no, it's, it's, but
- 21:49Speaker 1: it's fun. It's fun to put things away. We're talking
- 21:51Speaker 1: about too with a couple of the comics, like, you know, like,
- 21:54Speaker 1: like I had to come to terms to when I
- 21:56Speaker 1: first started or like when I was, you know, a
- 21:58Speaker 1: little three, four years in, I was like, oh, I'm
- 22:00Speaker 1: not a good enough writer yet to crack this. So
- 22:02Speaker 1: this is just going to go in the drawer real
- 22:03Speaker 1: quick and I will find it. If I go on
- 22:06Speaker 1: my phone, there's jokes that I've written in 2009 that
- 22:09Speaker 1: I'm like, still not ready for that one. Still don't
- 22:11Speaker 1: know how to figure that out.
- 22:12Speaker 2: There's something there.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I'll come back to it. Yeah. What you got. So
- 22:15Speaker 1: that's a portion of our get to know for the
- 22:19Speaker 1: good to know. And then the second portion that we
- 22:20Speaker 1: do is it's called good to know. And it's just
- 22:23Speaker 1: trivia questions just to kind of like just break up
- 22:25Speaker 1: the monotony of like every comic podcast. Okay. And also
- 22:28Speaker 1: to like, oh, conversation started. So we're going to, Nikki's
- 22:31Speaker 1: going to help us out because she wrote, she jotted
- 22:33Speaker 1: down some trivia.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Boom.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I'm really bad at trivia. This is terrifying.
- 22:39Speaker 1: This is terrifying.
- 22:41Speaker 2: My whole family's bad at trivia.
- 22:43Speaker 3: The worst thing is my... My husband is always, whenever
- 22:46Speaker 3: we go to England, we play trivia. Any question comes
- 22:49Speaker 3: up about America, and they.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Just all look at him. And he's like, what? Why
- 22:52Speaker 2: am I the American?
- 22:53Speaker 3: It's the pressure on the one American person or the
- 22:56Speaker 3: one English person to know the Abe Lincoln answer.
- 22:58Speaker 2: It's just ridiculous.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Hilarious, because she already had an Abe Lincoln answer.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Oh, no, don't, don't. I know nothing.
- 23:05Speaker 1: So the trivia question that she had earlier was, what
- 23:11Speaker 1: former president was known for being a, famously known for
- 23:14Speaker 1: being a bartender, a world-renowned bartender, and it was Abraham
- 23:18Speaker 1: Lincoln out of nowhere. I'm like, where the fuck was that? Like,
- 23:21Speaker 1: that's interesting. That's crazy.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I know, I know.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Oh, gosh.
- 23:24Speaker 2: All right, well, hit me.
- 23:25Speaker 1: All right. Let's go.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Well, I'm going to start off really simple, maybe-ish. What
- 23:30Speaker 5: popular sweet treat originally started as M & M' s Fruit Chews?
- 23:35Speaker 1: Oh, I actually do know this one. But I do this.
- 23:39Speaker 2: This is where I get screwed being the Brit because
- 23:41Speaker 2: I bring up all these. I'm like the lion bar.
- 23:43Speaker 2: And you're like, what's a lion bar? That doesn't exist.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Cadbury's in Galaxy. And I've got all these references that
- 23:49Speaker 2: don't even mean a thing.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Hang on.
- 23:49Speaker 2: So M & M fruit chews. Yes.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I actually like I'm a fan of all of England's candy.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Me too.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Skittles.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Close, but no.
- 24:03Speaker 2: So you don't know what Skittles are, do you?
- 24:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I do. Oh, you do.
- 24:05Speaker 2: OK, so I don't know whether they made them out
- 24:07Speaker 2: here or not. OK, not Skittles. Opal fruits?
- 24:10Speaker 1: No. No.
- 24:11Speaker 5: But actually, I bought my Skittles. Fun fact, I bought
- 24:13Speaker 5: my Skittles from Amazon because I get the good ones
- 24:16Speaker 5: from I like the blue ones and they don't have
- 24:19Speaker 5: this certain dye in it. Because Europe doesn't have that.
- 24:23Speaker 1: They said no.
- 24:24Speaker 2: We have all those dyes are banned. They should be
- 24:26Speaker 2: here too. Yes, 100%.
- 24:27Speaker 1: You know what else I like? This is so off
- 24:29Speaker 1: the topic though, but like, because we're talking about, well
- 24:30Speaker 1: actually no, we're talking about food in England. I watch
- 24:34Speaker 1: those YouTube things all the time about the kids eating
- 24:37Speaker 1: like other, like the, the, the British kids eating food
- 24:39Speaker 1: from different countries or the States. Oh, it's the best. Yes.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I know. Oh my gosh. It's best to see when
- 24:44Speaker 1: they like things. And it's also even way better when
- 24:47Speaker 1: they don't like things.
- 24:48Speaker 3: They're just like a nine year old. Who's had Hershey's
- 24:51Speaker 3: all his life. You give him some Cadbury's dairy milk. Oh,
- 24:54Speaker 3: his face will melt off.
- 24:55Speaker 2: It's amazing. It's so much better. Hershey's tastes like vomit
- 24:59Speaker 2: to me.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 25:01Speaker 2: It smells like it. Oh, it's just ridiculous.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Quality streets that Nestle made from over there. So good.
- 25:07Speaker 1: So good.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Christmas in a box.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I love it. I was a big old fan because
- 25:13Speaker 1: there's so much candy over there. And I was like,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I remember going and then there was the first time
- 25:18Speaker 1: when I went, the first time I was like, the
- 25:21Speaker 1: Mars they had a whole bunch of they had like
- 25:23Speaker 1: three Mars vending machines of all different kind of candies
- 25:26Speaker 1: there was no sodas around it was just candy I
- 25:27Speaker 1: was like that'll love this place.
- 25:28Speaker 3: And the chips are so much better or the crisps
- 25:30Speaker 3: as we call them yeah the crisps like we had
- 25:31Speaker 3: these things called monster munch which is like the size
- 25:33Speaker 3: of a fist and they're pickled onion flavor or roast
- 25:36Speaker 3: beef flavor like a roast meal it's so good and
- 25:40Speaker 3: then skips that are prawn cocktail flavor which to you guys.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Probably sounds horrific I don't eat seafood.
- 25:45Speaker 3: So literally like shrimp flavor but they're amazing they're so good.
- 25:50Speaker 2: So I know this all sounds bananas to you guys.
- 25:52Speaker 1: No, no, no, not at all.
- 25:53Speaker 5: If I burn anything, the only culture thing I have
- 25:55Speaker 5: about myself is if I do go to visit other countries,
- 25:58Speaker 5: the food is a thousand times better than.
- 26:00Speaker 2: What we have here.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Yes, I agree.
- 26:01Speaker 5: So I already know that.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Even in England.
- 26:03Speaker 2: And the food in England gets shit on me. It's
- 26:05Speaker 2: so good.
- 26:06Speaker 5: At least it's healthier there.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I would eat so much curry over there. Oh, so good,
- 26:12Speaker 1: the curry over there. We haven't eaten all day, so
- 26:14Speaker 1: we're getting run over. It's Starburst. It is.
- 26:18Speaker 5: It's Starburst.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Do you have Starburst? Okay, so we call them opal
- 26:22Speaker 2: fruits in England. Oh, okay. We did 20 years ago.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I'm going to give you both that point. I'm so confused.
- 26:29Speaker 2: That's fair. I think they changed it to Starburst at
- 26:31Speaker 2: some point, but I don't know. Maybe a half mark.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Give me a half mark.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Yeah, give her a half mark. Because they do.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Start, I don't know, we're in the Mic Drop room
- 26:38Speaker 3: right now, Green Room, and my favorite thing about doing
- 26:41Speaker 3: shows at Mic Drop is I come and I take
- 26:43Speaker 3: a picture of the, I take a picture of this,
- 26:46Speaker 3: there's a candy table right here that you can't see.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I take a picture of the candy table, I send
- 26:49Speaker 3: it back to my kids. I'm like, pick a piece
- 26:51Speaker 3: of candy. Every time I come here and they each
- 26:54Speaker 3: tell me what they want and then I take it back.
- 26:55Speaker 3: So yeah, mic drop, thank you for feeding my kids.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Yeah, there's always, I'm always like, I can't look at this.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I gotta walk away.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Although they did used to have tampons and condoms, which
- 27:07Speaker 3: when we first.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Started here, which was, save, which is money, man.
- 27:11Speaker 1: That's money.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Okay, next one. Next one.
- 27:14Speaker 5: What was Pixar's first feature, excuse me, first feature length movie?
- 27:20Speaker 2: Pixar's first feature.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Oh, my goodness.
- 27:23Speaker 2: We're going back. Pixar, I don't know. There's the little
- 27:27Speaker 2: lamp that goes.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Was it that? No, that was a short film, right?
- 27:36Speaker 1: The lamp was a short film. But I don't even
- 27:39Speaker 1: know what it was called.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I have no idea. I'd say Toy Story or Nemo.
- 27:44Speaker 2: What's your guess? Probably 20 years before that.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I would say... I don't know. I can't remember. I
- 27:50Speaker 1: can't remember the lamps, what it was called.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Look at the scoreboard.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Oh, she got Toy Story. Toy Story. Yes, I did. Woo.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Nailed it. Part five's coming out.
- 28:02Speaker 2: What a guess.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 28:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:04Speaker 5: Okay, I couldn't go past Toy Story 3. That made
- 28:06Speaker 5: me cry.
- 28:07Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm done.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. It was a great swan song. They would
- 28:10Speaker 1: have just ended it there.
- 28:11Speaker 2: It's the attack of the tablet.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:14Speaker 2: We just saw the trailer the other day watching He-Man,
- 28:16Speaker 2: which was awful.
- 28:17Speaker 1: It was awful? Oh, dang.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Not enough He-Man in it, quite frankly.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 28:21Speaker 2: No, they kept doing like wussy He-Man. I was like,
- 28:23Speaker 2: I want the big buff guy.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I want Adam. Where is he? Yeah, get out
- 28:26Speaker 1: of here.
- 28:26Speaker 5: Now, you've been in the States long enough. You might
- 28:28Speaker 5: know this one.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 28:29Speaker 5: What's the longest running American sitcom?
- 28:33Speaker 1: I have a guess. Well, is that considered a sitcom?
- 28:39Speaker 1: I was going to say Simpsons.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I was going to say Simpsons.
- 28:43Speaker 5: Okay, check the scoreboard.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 28:47Speaker 2: That's a Simpsons.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Good pull.
- 28:49Speaker 5: I thought that the sitcom would throw you off a
- 28:51Speaker 5: little bit and.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Make you guess.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Seinfeld was the backup.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 5: All right, so this is a music question. What does
- 28:59Speaker 5: Lady Gaga affectionately call her fans?
- 29:03Speaker 1: I know this one. Um.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I know this one. Little Monsters.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Yes. Nailed it. Yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Wow.
- 29:10Speaker 1: These are... Okay. Okay.
- 29:13Speaker 5: This one may be tough. In what year was the
- 29:16Speaker 5: Emancipation Proclamation issued?
- 29:18Speaker 1: The Emancipation Proclamation?
- 29:22Speaker 2: He can't say it.
- 29:23Speaker 1: I know.
- 29:26Speaker 2: He can't say it. I barely know what it means.
- 29:28Speaker 2: So together... It's a year. So on the count of three.
- 29:30Speaker 5: I want to say.
- 29:35Speaker 1: 1782.
- 29:36Speaker 2: What's your guess? Higher or lower?
- 29:39Speaker 1: Higher. 1783.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Who's closer?
- 29:43Speaker 1: I win. Yeah. Price is right rules.
- 29:47Speaker 5: 1863.
- 29:48Speaker 1: 1863. Okay.
- 29:50Speaker 2: I tried.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I knew it was something in, in, in way before
- 29:53Speaker 1: the 19th.
- 29:53Speaker 2: I was, I was hoping you were closer.
- 29:56Speaker 5: I should have curated this better so that it could
- 29:58Speaker 5: have been like easier. Like, you know, cause this is,
- 30:00Speaker 5: I feel like a little bit too many, uh, us questions.
- 30:02Speaker 5: Cause the next one is what is the longest highway
- 30:05Speaker 5: in the United States?
- 30:07Speaker 1: Um, 66, six, six, six, the one.
- 30:11Speaker 5: It's actually U.S. Route 20.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Oh, really? Okay.
- 30:14Speaker 5: I thought it would be PCH or something, but it's U.S.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Route 20. Yeah, well, because, like, I get that because
- 30:20Speaker 1: it goes, I think it's increments of five. So Highway 5,
- 30:23Speaker 1: Highway 10, Highway 15, Highway 20.
- 30:25Speaker 2: So there is no one?
- 30:26Speaker 1: 20 would be right in the middle. Oh, no, one.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Oh, it does that?
- 30:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:29Speaker 2: That's PCH.
- 30:31Speaker 1: PCH.
- 30:31Speaker 5: Pacific Coast Highway.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Okay.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Sepulveda. Depending where you are.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Sepulveda. Yeah.
- 30:39Speaker 5: All right, music question.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Okay.
- 30:41Speaker 5: As a child, what singer held the longest note ever
- 30:45Speaker 5: on the show Star Search?
- 30:48Speaker 1: What child held the longest note ever? Alanis Morissette.
- 30:55Speaker 5: I forgot that she was on.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Christina Aguilera. Yeah, she wasn't. Those are both.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Really good guesses.
- 30:58Speaker 1: That's a great guess.
- 30:59Speaker 5: I'm going to give you another guess. It is a man.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Oh, he was a child. Tevin Campbell.
- 31:05Speaker 5: I mean, he's now a man. He was a child
- 31:07Speaker 5: at the time.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Star Search. Justin Timberlake.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Go in the right direction.
- 31:12Speaker 2: It was Usher.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Okay.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Boom, boom. Okay.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Another movie-related question. Which movie featured the first fully CGI
- 31:21Speaker 5: character in a leading role?
- 31:25Speaker 1: What movie? What, iRobot?
- 31:28Speaker 5: It's a kid's movie.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Oh, it's a kid's movie.
- 31:29Speaker 2: WALL-E?
- 31:30Speaker 1: I love WALL-E.
- 31:32Speaker 5: First fully CGI character. Not the movie itself.
- 31:36Speaker 1: E.T.? No, that's a puppet.
- 31:39Speaker 2: That's a public.
- 31:40Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. It's Casper.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Casper.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Oh. Okay.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 31:48Speaker 1: All right.
- 31:48Speaker 5: Which country features an actual shipwreck prominently displayed on its
- 31:53Speaker 5: national flag?
- 31:57Speaker 1: I don't know. A shipwreck on the flag? A country? Mm-hmm.
- 32:05Speaker 1: I don't know. What is it? Um. What was that
- 32:10Speaker 1: where Blackhawk down was at?
- 32:15Speaker 2: I don't know. I can't even guess. A country with
- 32:18Speaker 2: a shipwreck on a flag.
- 32:20Speaker 5: Just think of a sort of like island-y.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Honduras.
- 32:27Speaker 5: I guess I like that.
- 32:29Speaker 2: That's a fun one.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I don't know. All right.
- 32:31Speaker 2: It was Bermuda.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Bermuda. Bermuda. Okay. Okay.
- 32:34Speaker 5: So we're going to go with one last like, worldly
- 32:38Speaker 5: question in the form of a country. This is the
- 32:43Speaker 5: final question. So you can wager any amount of points
- 32:46Speaker 5: that you'd like to.
- 32:46Speaker 1: I'll go all three of mine.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I'll do none.
- 32:52Speaker 5: What country has the longest coastline in the world?
- 32:58Speaker 1: Chile.
- 33:00Speaker 5: What's your guess?
- 33:01Speaker 2: That's a pretty good guess.
- 33:02Speaker 3: The longest coastline in the world.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Australia.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Oh, that's a good one too. It's actually Canada.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Canada?
- 33:17Speaker 2: Canada.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Oh, Canada.
- 33:20Speaker 1: But you won. Yeah, you won. You won. I do
- 33:23Speaker 1: not know how.
- 33:25Speaker 3: I think that was the half mark for the opal
- 33:27Speaker 3: fruit and I'm not convinced I'm telling the truth there.
- 33:29Speaker 2: I'm going to have to go away and Google that one.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I think it might be a draw, but we'll take it.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I was going to say, tell people where you're going
- 33:35Speaker 1: to be at in your socials and where they can
- 33:36Speaker 1: find you at as well.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Yes, Kimbles Hume.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Social K-I-M-B-L-E-S Hume, H-U-M-E. And I'm all over the place.
- 33:45Speaker 3: I'm doing a bunch of gigs up in San Francisco
- 33:47Speaker 3: coming up.
- 33:48Speaker 1: But.
- 33:49Speaker 3: dotted around here a lot as well. I'm often at
- 33:51Speaker 3: the comedy store, uh, doing friends and family there. I
- 33:53Speaker 3: love when I come here. Um, and, um, and I
- 33:57Speaker 3: also do, uh, I also produce shows under bits comedy, um,
- 34:00Speaker 3: which is super fun, local shows, um.
- 34:02Speaker 2: In Del Mar and all over as well.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Um, and, uh, I've got a couple of, a couple
- 34:07Speaker 3: of nights coming up at the grand comedy club, um,
- 34:09Speaker 3: is Candido if you're in North County.
- 34:11Speaker 2: So, uh, so yeah, keep, uh, keep coming out.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Awesome. Thank you so much for coming out. you
