- 0:21So I dropped my coffee mug right on the studio rug this morning,
- 0:25and for like three seconds my brain just froze, completely focused on the moment.
- 0:32It was total silence in here.
- 0:34You were just staring at the tile like it was a grand masterpiece.
- 0:39It really was!
- 0:40But it got me thinking about how much stuff our brains are constantly ignoring until
- 0:45something suddenly snaps us into focus.
- 0:48Like, right now, there is a street sweeper outside, the hum of the air conditioner,
- 0:54the lights buzz, and we do not hear any of it until we actively pay attention to it.
- 1:00Well, that is literally your brain stem doing heavy lifting.
- 1:05There is a neural network down at the base of your brain called the Reticular
- 1:09Activating System, or the R.A.S.
- 1:12It processes millions of bits of sensory data every single second,
- 1:17but it only lets a tiny fraction reach your conscious mind.
- 1:20Right, it is like the ultimate focus filter for your head.
- 1:24It completely is.
- 1:26Think about being at a crowded event.
- 1:29You are in a packed room, hundreds of people talking at once,
- 1:33music blaring, glasses clinking.
- 1:34It is total chaos.
- 1:36But if someone across the room quietly says your name...
- 1:40You lock right onto it!
- 1:42Instantly.
- 1:44That is the cocktail party effect.
- 1:46Your brain was monitoring all that background noise the whole time,
- 1:50but the moment a piece of data matched an established priority,
- 1:54like your own name, the RAS cut through the noise and handed it straight to your
- 1:58awareness.
- 1:59That is so fascinating.
- 2:01What is amazing to me is how this filter actually gets programmed.
- 2:06It takes cues from what you dwell on and what you choose to prioritize.
- 2:11Exactly.
- 2:12When you set your mind on growth and excellence, your RAS goes to work finding
- 2:17pathways to support that goal.
- 2:19It starts highlighting positive opportunities, helpful connections,
- 2:23and innovative ideas, while stepping past unnecessary distractions.
- 2:27So when you feed your mind uplifting intentions, your brain scans the world to make
- 2:33those intentions a reality!
- 2:35Yeah, it acts like a goal finding engine.
- 2:38I had this exact thing happen to me last year with music.
- 2:41I decided I wanted to find a very specific vintage acoustic guitar,
- 2:46a rare faded sunburst model from the late seventies.
- 2:50The day after I started researching it, I walked into a local coffee shop,
- 2:55and sitting right there in the corner was a musician playing that exact guitar!
- 3:00Two days later, I saw one in a photo on someone's wall.
- 3:05They did not suddenly pop into existence that week!
- 3:08No!
- 3:09They were always around me, but my brain filter was deleting them because they were
- 3:14not tagged as important.
- 3:15Once I set that intentional focus, my RAS was like, hey, look over there,
- 3:21there it is!
- 3:22That is such a clear example.
- 3:24The environment did not change at all, Ava.
- 3:27Your internal filter changed.
- 3:30And that means opportunities, solutions, and creative ideas that feel invisible
- 3:35right now might actually be sitting right in front of us, just waiting for us to re
- 3:40key the filter.
- 3:41So how do we actually re key it on purpose?
- 3:44Because we know real mental shifts require action and practice.
- 3:49Right.
- 3:50The neurobiology shows that multisensory encoding is what strengthens neural
- 3:55pathways.
- 3:56When you pair a clear goal with physical movement or music,
- 4:00you engage multiple regions of the brain all at once.
- 4:03And that is where music becomes such a powerful catalyst, especially when you listen
- 4:09to purposeful songs.
- 4:11That brings us right to one of our powerful PTT songs, "Figures".
- 4:16That track "Figures" is the perfect illustration of this entire concept.
- 4:21The song is all about standing in your unique purpose, tuning out the noise of the
- 4:26world, and focusing on a higher call.
- 4:29When you put on "Figures", the energy and rhythm instantly prime your focus.
- 4:34I love that track!
- 4:35"It gives you that bold, unwavering confidence.
- 4:39When you play that song in the morning, you are literally anchoring your focus to
- 4:44living with intention and clarity.
- 4:47Exactly.
- 4:48You can build a simple morning routine around it.
- 4:51Right at sunrise, play "Figures" or another favorite PTT Music release.
- 4:56While that song is playing, physically write down one clear focus for your day.
- 5:02You are linking the drive of "Figures" directly to your purpose.
- 5:07So the song becomes your personal launch code!
- 5:10Yes!
- 5:11The rhythm and message of "Figures" energize your mindset while reinforcing your
- 5:16vision.
- 5:17By the time the track ends, your RAS has its marching orders for the rest of the
- 5:22day.
- 5:22That is so practical and energizing.
- 5:25Instead of letting random noise set your tone, you take charge of your environment
- 5:30with music that lifts you up.
- 5:32Right.
- 5:33You set your own parameters.
- 5:35So, step out with intention, and let your focus lead the way.
- 5:40So if our listeners want to try this tomorrow, they can put on "Figures" or another
- 5:45inspiring track, lock in their focus, and let their brain find the great
- 5:50opportunities around them.
- 5:51Correct!
- 5:53Make it a deliberate act.
- 5:54Pick the sound, set the focus, and step boldly into your day.
