- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So let's talk about some visualizing.
- 0:33You know, this is a, this is something that is not easy to do
- 0:38for anybody, even those of us who believe we are 100% visual,
- 0:41which I do. I'm hypervisual.
- 0:44I see things, picture them and that piece of it is easy.
- 0:49But actually for me anyway, that's easy.
- 0:51It's not for everybody, but it is for me.
- 0:54I will say this though. Holding a visualization in your
- 0:58head is very hard work. Major, major distinction for me.
- 1:04Being able to visualize, not so hard.
- 1:07Holding the visualization and keeping it there long enough so
- 1:11that you can attach a motion to it.
- 1:15Much harder. Really, really hard.
- 1:18And something that most of us have a really difficult time
- 1:22doing. You know, for an extended period
- 1:25of time. So a simple example is if I said
- 1:28to you, I want you to focus on thinking about the number one
- 1:32and I want you to do it for one minute straight.
- 1:33Just think of the number one in any way that you can, whether
- 1:36you're counting in your head, just 1-111-111-1111, which may
- 1:40be the easiest way to do it, but to keep that going for a minute,
- 1:44it's hard. And then it becomes, you're not
- 1:46really thinking about the number one.
- 1:48You're just saying the word to hear yourself doing it.
- 1:52But you're not visualizing it. You're not holding emotion
- 1:54around it or anything. You're just, you know, saying
- 1:58the word does have some effect, but really it's all about the
- 2:03emotion. So when you think about, even if
- 2:06you think about. Like, you know, a color and you
- 2:09say, all right, let me visualize a color, and you say the color
- 2:13blue, and you visualize the color blue and you try to hold
- 2:16it for even 30 seconds. It's really hard to stay
- 2:20consistent with that. That's why monks spend so much
- 2:24time learning how to meditate, because it's that clearing and
- 2:28being able to control your mind and put it in a specific
- 2:31direction. It's hard work, my friends.
- 2:33It is incredibly hard work. And I will be the first one to
- 2:35admit I suck. At Meditating, I That's why I
- 2:40have different tricks and techniques that I do for myself
- 2:43that I've taught clients. They tell all of you about The
- 2:45Walking and visualizing, noticing things while you walk,
- 2:49staying in the moment, thinking about one thing and saying, OK,
- 2:54I'm gonna, you know, walk and I'm going to keep myself focused
- 2:58for the whole time I'm walking on this particular subject.
- 3:03Yeah, that's a joke for me. That's why I use my camera.
- 3:06It's why I try to notice things. And even if I can't meditate, I
- 3:09can be in the moment. I can stay in the moment.
- 3:12I'm much better at that now. I used to be horrible at that
- 3:15because I, you know, as a reformed, but sometimes still go
- 3:20to, you know, certainty girl and panic and worry.
- 3:24I can tell you that that has become exponentially better for
- 3:28me with these strategies. But that was a big butt in
- 3:33there. I will be the first to say if I
- 3:36sit down to meditate, it is very, very hard.
- 3:39And visualizing is a strategy that goes right along with that.
- 3:44So let's talk about the fact that once you recognize that's
- 3:47how you are and who you are, how do you visualize your goals?
- 3:51So one the one I was just talking about using a walking
- 3:55strategy where you're walking and you're actually thinking
- 3:59through something from beginning to end like when I was.
- 4:03Had the goal of doing this farm, I would visualize coming out.
- 4:06I would walk and I would visualize coming out and
- 4:09thinking about giving my chickens breakfast, thinking
- 4:12about letting them out of their coop, thinking about what
- 4:15different kinds of chickens I wanted to have, what they looked
- 4:18like, how they acted, their personalities.
- 4:21I would think about all the flowers that I would plant and
- 4:24discover all the things that I would have set up for them and I
- 4:29could hold that for a period of time.
- 4:32When you want to do this with pretty much anything, it's the
- 4:36same thing. You follow the the strategy of
- 4:39saying it's easier. Not saying it's easy, but it's
- 4:42easier when you go and you say I'm going to take something
- 4:45through from beginning to end. So if I'm doing a creative
- 4:48project, I will try to visualize it.
- 4:51From beginning to end, what's my process in doing it?
- 4:54That really helps and it makes you feel like you know the
- 4:57project before you start. Like I knew the farm before I
- 5:00started. I had been there 100 times.
- 5:03I told the builder I've walked through this house 1000 times.
- 5:06I already know it's going to work.
- 5:08Even though he was questioning me on my placement of a pantry.
- 5:11And I was like, no, no, no, I know this is exactly what I want
- 5:15because I'd walked through it. So that strategy for me is very
- 5:18strong, very top of the. Top of the stack for me, another
- 5:22really great strategy in doing this visualizing is sitting and
- 5:26writing. So for those of you who feel
- 5:27like you're more kinesthetic, you're more reserved in your
- 5:31thoughts. Sit and write them out and then
- 5:33you can go back and read them all.
- 5:35Super helpful. Just write a really great story
- 5:38that you want to read every day. That's the trick to that one
- 5:41and. The auditory people record it,
- 5:44whatever it is, record it and really listen to it.
- 5:47It really helps you build the muscles.
- 5:49So today try to find something that you can visualize.
- 5:52And before you start though, figure out where you go awry
- 5:55like I explained mine, because you've got to handle those
- 5:59objections to be great at it. Alright my friends, I hope you
- 6:02have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:04Bye.
