The Gold Coast 500 ended in a cloud of controversy as the field for the second round of the Supercars Finals Series was set.

While Broc Feeney took the win, the big focus was on the battle for the last Sandown spot between Anton De Pasquale and Ryan Wood.

De Pasquale got the nod, but only after two fellow Chevrolet drivers were forced to pit in the closing stages for a third fuel stop.

Was this a manipulation of the result? Or simply a coincidence?
