- 0:15and picks a winner. Dan gets screwed in the
- 0:17passenger seat of an M4 at Laguna Seca, and I check off a
- 0:21few enthusiast boxes of my own on the streets of Beverly Hills
- 0:25and behind the wheel of a very special Alcoholics gtar.
- 0:30Plus, we divvy up condiments, insult the French, and get all
- 0:34old timey talking about the new Swatch AP collab.
- 0:38You'll never miss the midnight Train to Georgia again,
- 0:40listeners. It's the Car podcast.
- 0:43For people who actually like cars, it's that car show.
- 0:48Hey folks, and welcome to this week's That Car Show.
- 0:51It seems like I am the only one without a stalker right now, so
- 0:54if anyone's. Listening you.
- 0:58Need to change the name of the show briefly.
- 1:00Feel free to stalk. Stalk away, we.
- 1:03Just we got. Dan's in the market for a
- 1:06stalker. You heard it here first.
- 1:09So before we kick off, I did want to give a shout out to the
- 1:12original Porsche Dealership Car podcast.
- 1:17I was listening to the Boys at the First Dibs the other day and
- 1:21Justin, who is one of the two hosts mentioned that he was did
- 1:25a test drive a while back of a 9/11 Turbo and guess what Rd. he
- 1:31quoted? I have AI have a hunch that it
- 1:36was a certain toy the. True story, it was a toll road.
- 1:41Ryan, any guesses? Yeah, 470 for sure, because that
- 1:45is the best tarmac in the state, if not the, you know, West of
- 1:50the Mississippi. It is such a good Rd.
- 1:52It's the closest thing to an Autobahn I think that we have,
- 1:55although I know 470 doesn't want to hear the Autobahn part, but
- 1:58it it's a fantastic surface and is very much where you would
- 2:01want to test drive a 9/11 turbo, so I'm just saying.
- 2:06So it was a strategic move on Justin's part.
- 2:08It wasn't an in ad placement for the record, we didn't do that.
- 2:12Just so happened that he mentioned that that road.
- 2:14So shout out to that podcast. Check it out.
- 2:18We have been up to so much. I'm not sure whether we can cram
- 2:20it all into an hour, but I think we'll try.
- 2:23We. May have to do our first ever 2
- 2:25parter. That's right.
- 2:26Yeah. Lindsay, I'll start with you
- 2:29now. You went to something called
- 2:31Mudfest, and in my head that's Coachella meets Glastonbury,
- 2:37maybe meets the spa. But it wasn't, was it?
- 2:41What was Mudfest? So Mud Fest, and this year it
- 2:44was dry. So Dust Fest would have been a
- 2:47more appropriate name, but the event has traditionally always
- 2:50been called Mud Fest. It's an annual thing put on by
- 2:53the Northwest Automotive Press Association, which is NAWAPA for
- 2:57those in the know. And so it's an annual.
- 3:00Whopper and cheese, exactly? Did you want fries with that?
- 3:07Yes, I love it. So we got to drive 19 different
- 3:11cars and it was at the Ridge, which is a racetrack in
- 3:14Bremerton. So it was a couple hours from
- 3:16Seattle depending on traffic, depending on where you were
- 3:19coming from out on the peninsula here near Bremerton.
- 3:24And they have a, they have a car track, like their main big track
- 3:29is for cars and motorcycles. They also have a go Kart track,
- 3:32which is a, you know, scale version of the car track.
- 3:37And that's actually what we took the cars on was the go Kart
- 3:40track. And then they had, it wasn't
- 3:43auto cross in the sense of like we were racing, but they had a
- 3:46course coned out in the parking lot.
- 3:48So it was flat, but it had a lot of curves to it.
- 3:51And then we had a zero to 60 acceleration and braking zone,
- 3:55which was definitely one of the most fun parts.
- 3:59So you go, you know, and it's a collection of automotive media
- 4:03from the region. And then like somebody came in
- 4:06from Denver that knows Ryan. And then we had a gal come down
- 4:09from Canada who's part of the group.
- 4:11So it was a good mix. And then you drive all 19 cars
- 4:16both days. So the first day was what I just
- 4:18described and then the second day we get to go on like an off
- 4:22road course with all the same cars.
- 4:25And this was the outdoor activity vehicle like sort of
- 4:29selection. That was kind of the types of
- 4:31vehicles we had. So some are designed to go off
- 4:33road and some are very definitely not don't start life
- 4:37as off road vehicles. So that made it really
- 4:39interesting the next day, But it's a great way to test the
- 4:44capabilities. And there were so many amazing
- 4:47surprises where, you know, I'd get in a car and I'm like, all
- 4:50right, I'm really not sure how this is going to go.
- 4:52And it would charge through the off road course And I'm like,
- 4:55well, I don't know if I would take this particular car because
- 4:58it was a good mix of like luxury cars.
- 5:01And then there was a Ram truck and there was a Jeep Wrangler.
- 5:04Those are obviously designed to do off road.
- 5:07But you know, then there was a lucid gravity, like that's a
- 5:09luxury. You know, they call it an SUV.
- 5:12My when I look at it, I typically think it's like more
- 5:14minivan type, but you know, SUV, crossover, minivan, whatever.
- 5:18I don't think you look at that and think off road, but it did
- 5:21the whole course. Yeah.
- 5:23So it should. Have held on to that one.
- 5:27Well, hopefully I will be getting it before too long, but
- 5:30excellent. Would you like to hear the cars
- 5:33that we drove because it was quite a mix, yeah.
- 5:35And just so, just so, at the end of the two days, is there an
- 5:39outright winner? Good question.
- 5:41Yes. So there are several categories.
- 5:44And so you vote at the end of each day, which is it's cool
- 5:48because the days like what you're doing with the cars is
- 5:51very different on each day. So you vote twice, basically, or
- 5:55vote early in Chicago. Kept joking, right?
- 5:57Yeah, We found this box of ballots and then they tally them
- 6:03up and we find out the winner. So I do have the winners also.
- 6:06So we drove an Ionic Honda, Hyundai Ionic 5 XRT, Jeep
- 6:11Wrangler, Moab 392, Kia Sportage X Pro, Mazda CX5 Premium Plus,
- 6:18and then Subaru had three cars. They had the Outback Wilderness
- 6:22and Uncharted GT which I had not gotten to see before so.
- 6:25That was the new EV. It is, and I think it's the one
- 6:28Spike just got for his younger son because they talked about it
- 6:31while we were at the event. They talked about it on his show
- 6:34and the Subaru Trail Seeker Limited, which is another of
- 6:38their EVs. And when I was driving those
- 6:42three, I just kept thinking like Subaru is killing it.
- 6:44They were just so good. You know, we love Subaru on this
- 6:48show, obviously. But yeah, they I got out of it
- 6:50and told the Subaru gal that was there.
- 6:52I'm like, you guys are just running away with it.
- 6:54These are all so good. There was a Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid
- 6:58Woodland Edition, a Volkswagen Tiguan SELR line, Honda Pilot
- 7:05Elite, Hyundai Palisade XRT Pro, Kia Telluride X Pro, Mitsubishi
- 7:10Outlander Trail Edition, a Genesis GV 80 Prestige 3.5, and
- 7:18then a GV 80 Coupe Genesis Again, Lucid Gravity Grand
- 7:22Touring Pole Star for Dual Motor Pilot, and then the Ram 1500
- 7:27Warlock, which is an EV truck. These names are getting out of.
- 7:31I mean every time you walk and it says warlock on the back of
- 7:34the bed. Like that's a male witch, if you
- 7:36didn't already know. It was the best thing.
- 7:38I mean, it just makes you smile and you're like, OK, I have to
- 7:41drive the warlock again. Well, and I love how this we
- 7:43have this this this need to incorporate the word trail with
- 7:47some sort of suffix in into these cars.
- 7:50And just when I think that they've all been taken, what was
- 7:53the trail Finder was that? Trail Seeker.
- 7:55Trail seeker OK, that's that's, you know, so good on them, you
- 7:59know. But I know, right?
- 8:00It's definitely a thing, yeah. Yeah, so I have, you know, there
- 8:05were a lot, obviously 19 cars, but it was pretty much my like
- 8:10perfect couple days because I'm like, oh, I have to drive all
- 8:12these cars. That sounds awesome.
- 8:13Sounds amazing. I'm trying to think of like a
- 8:16few of the kind of notable notables in a field of like 19
- 8:22really good cars. So the uncharted was incredibly
- 8:25quick, super cool interior. It was just one of those like
- 8:29got in it and just instantly went like yes, I could drive
- 8:32those. And it had really good traction
- 8:34off road. Like it did amazingly.
- 8:36The Outlander had a really intuitive interior, lots of Dr.
- 8:40modes, very comfortable seats, super capable off road.
- 8:44And one of the coolest things about that one is that it is in
- 8:47a class of like 2 row SU VS, but it actually has a third row in
- 8:51the back. You would never know.
- 8:52It's got a great cargo area, but you can pop up this kind of,
- 8:55they call it the just in case 3rd row so that if something
- 8:58happens and you have to take more people, you can stick a
- 9:00couple kids back there and then it folds back down and you're
- 9:03good to go. And it's not an oversized car.
- 9:06Yeah, that's it's just kind of a surprising car.
- 9:09They're big in rental fleets currently and I think it's the
- 9:11only model that Mitsubishi currently makes.
- 9:14Check me on that, but I actually see a lot of them and I hear
- 9:17they're pretty decent and. Yeah, it would.
- 9:21That's good to hear. I mean, Mitsubisha, I thought
- 9:23they were, you know, they were goners.
- 9:25And it's good to hear they're back.
- 9:27No, it was it was one of many like pleasant surprises.
- 9:31It was very nice. You would definitely, you know,
- 9:33enjoy it on a trip at a minimum or go buy 1.
- 9:38The Ionic 5 had really responsive steering and it felt
- 9:41luxurious. The pole star felt very at home
- 9:44on the track which was fun. Interesting the RAM so it was.
- 9:49It had a Hemi engine upgrade which I was surprised is only
- 9:52$2500 and I would say worth it for the exhaust note.
- 9:56Who's not getting that? I know, right?
- 10:00Well, and I think I may have misspoken because I think it's a
- 10:02hybrid. It's not an EV, obviously, if
- 10:03it's got the Hemi engine on it. And it was super confident off
- 10:08road as you'd imagine. They had me stop it at the top
- 10:12of one of the big hills with one of the tires in a very deep rut.
- 10:15And they said, OK, we're not. We don't have any of the any of
- 10:18the assistance on. And I want you to just slowly
- 10:21accelerate out and the truck just like right up the hill, not
- 10:24a problem. Let's see the Jeep.
- 10:27Can I interrupt so that ram, the last one I drove had an amazing
- 10:30ride. Did you experience that?
- 10:32I think it's a new ride. One of the best riding vehicles
- 10:35I've I've driven in years. Well, and we were on, you know,
- 10:39grass, dirt, like they did make some mud later in the day for so
- 10:42the event could live up to its name and like gravel and you're
- 10:46going back and forth at high speeds with the different Rd.
- 10:49surfaces. And the truck was one of the
- 10:52most confident, like, you know, slam the brakes on on gravel.
- 10:56That's a loose surface, obviously.
- 10:57And it just was solid as a rock as a Warlock, one might even
- 11:01say. Yeah, that's a vehicle that
- 11:04really surprised me and it's just not on my radar, not
- 11:06anything I'd ever buy for myself.
- 11:08It's just too much of everything.
- 11:09But was really impressed. What makes it so great though?
- 11:12Yeah, yeah. It was really fun and they like,
- 11:16you know, I got to Florida a couple times and that was pretty
- 11:18intoxicating, sounded amazing. I would definitely, I would
- 11:22definitely drive one of. Those nice nice.
- 11:26The Jeep obviously was great off road, the interior was lovely
- 11:29and it had a fun automated rag top like convertible that you
- 11:33could I think up to 55 miles an hour.
- 11:35You can open and close it while you're driving if the weather
- 11:38changes or something. The CX5 had a really nice
- 11:42interior. It was like simple and
- 11:44restrained and I was surprised how capable it was off road.
- 11:47Like I don't typically think of those as off road cars, but you
- 11:51could definitely do some light off roading with it.
- 11:53So I'm going to tell you a secret.
- 11:55So Chubba Cheta, long time editor of of Car and Driver.
- 11:59Guy local to me now, a guy that I've gotten to know a little bit
- 12:02through our map. Our equivalent of the whopper or
- 12:05whatever, right of the Super size.
- 12:08He's got one of those at home. You're kidding.
- 12:11Yeah, he actually bought 1, so that's got to mean something,
- 12:13right? It's always interesting to me to
- 12:16find out what the automotive journalists are buying because
- 12:18with all the cars that you get to drive, like for them to pick
- 12:21one and commit to it themselves, that always makes me go like,
- 12:25OK, there's something there. The gravity was really fun to
- 12:28experience. We got to drive that together.
- 12:30I think at the auto show last year, you know, and I've said a
- 12:34million times, when we got in the air two years ago, I was
- 12:37like, I'm home. This is the best thing ever.
- 12:39You. Know it's a very pleasant space.
- 12:41It is very like, it just feels very welcoming and I got to do
- 12:46launch control in the gravity, which was super fun to the point
- 12:49where like you feel it in your eyeballs.
- 12:52It's just the whole thing was great and they had really nice
- 12:55storage in the console too, like just, you know, a little
- 12:58creature comforts. They the Telluride actually
- 13:03reminded me of kind of a Range Rover and also Rivian esque.
- 13:06Super comfortable seats had a squared off steering wheel,
- 13:10which several of the cars had. So the first day that took a
- 13:13little getting used to, but it had a bunch of different Dr.
- 13:17modes, had great hill descent control.
- 13:19The funny thing was when I put it in mud mode, it stiffens the
- 13:22seat under you. And so I was like, what is
- 13:24happening? So you know, it's a it's an
- 13:29immersive experience. You gotta be.
- 13:31Careful with mud mode. You know, we were in LA when
- 13:33they launched that thing, if you recall.
- 13:35Yes, it was quite, you know, very Range Rover like if you
- 13:39know, and I've yet to drive one, but I was, I was a big fan of
- 13:42the previous one. I thought it was a lot of
- 13:43vehicle for the money. They're hugely popular here in
- 13:46Colorado, I think for good reason, and so I'm excited to
- 13:50drive drive that new one. Yeah, well, and this one was, it
- 13:54was kind of a matte gold. So I think that added to the
- 13:56Range Rover look of this one because every time I walked by
- 13:59the back of it, like especially out of the corner of your eye,
- 14:02you're like, I see what you were going for.
- 14:06The Honda Pilot was super confident on the go Kart track.
- 14:09I think those are great vehicles.
- 14:11It was great. The interior was nice and then
- 14:15the Sportage was comfortable and it had really nice exit graphics
- 14:19and music, which was like a nice little, you know, send you on
- 14:22your way. It was funny.
- 14:23There were a few of the cars that had when you would turn it
- 14:26off this graphic and this little tune would go, you know, would
- 14:29play and the graphic would go across the screen.
- 14:31And it's like, well, I didn't know I needed that, but I'm
- 14:34thinking about it. No, but you better like it
- 14:37because if you don't it's going to be 5 years.
- 14:39I know, I thought about that. I'm like, but can you turn this
- 14:42off? And I mean, and that applies to
- 14:45anything. Not not picking on that car, but
- 14:48it was a nice touch and it was like, oh, kind of sends you on
- 14:50your way with a smile. And it did the whole course like
- 14:54off road, on road. All of that did it just fine.
- 14:57The Rav 4 surprised me. It felt very solid, had an
- 15:00impressively nice interior. The controls were intuitive and
- 15:03it did fantastically off road. They finally have good seats in
- 15:07those things too. Yeah, they were super
- 15:09comfortable and it had these nice little it was I think
- 15:13because it was the EV or a hybrid.
- 15:15It had these little like rose gold touches, which I think is
- 15:18one of their you know, design design designators, but it gave
- 15:21it a luxurious feel. The palisade was super solid
- 15:26under heartbreaking felt really solid overall had some cool
- 15:30details on the seats. Great cameras went up the hills
- 15:33effortlessly. The trail seeker.
- 15:36I could not stop smiling. It was just so good all around.
- 15:41Did have a squared off wheel that was like took a little bit
- 15:44of getting used to, but had a really sleek interior, fantastic
- 15:48acceleration, super solid hardline braking, great handling
- 15:52on the auto cross and the go Kart tracks, super precise
- 15:55steering. Like that was the one where I'm
- 15:57like, OK, Subaru is just killing it these days.
- 16:01The Outback, again, good handling, solid breaking.
- 16:06Like all three of the supers were great.
- 16:07And that was a wilderness. So it made me.
- 16:10Feel like I've spent some time in that.
- 16:13That's one of those cars where, you know, it doesn't really
- 16:15scream in any way, right? But when presented like that in
- 16:21a in a line of others, at least I found myself coming back to
- 16:24that. It was kind of familiar.
- 16:25It was just kind of a lot of glass.
- 16:27It was just, you know, it was just, yeah, kind of felt like
- 16:30home. I was going to say, like, you
- 16:32feel like you're coming home in a way, and we've been lucky to
- 16:34have other Subarus. And so there is an element of
- 16:37like, oh, I know this one, but in a good way, where you're
- 16:40like, oh, I'm happy to be back here.
- 16:42And it was. Even with the CVT transmission,
- 16:44it's a good car. Right.
- 16:45But it was nice to get in that, you know, because there was a
- 16:49lot like I always test, you know, you try to make all the
- 16:51adjustments like adjust the mirrors, adjust the climate, get
- 16:53your seat adjusted the way you want it.
- 16:55Inevitably you'll forget one of those every so often and like
- 16:58how intuitive is it to fix that while you're driving?
- 17:01So it's nice to know like, oh, I know where the controls are in
- 17:04all the Subarus for the most part, or, you know, generally
- 17:07their framework so you can figure it out.
- 17:09So it was nice to drive that they the two Genesis, the GV 80s
- 17:14were just so good. I mean, Ryan, as you know,
- 17:16you've gotten to have some experience with those and it has
- 17:19like a beautiful interior. The acceleration and braking
- 17:22were great. They sounded really good, great
- 17:25on the go Kart track, super confident on gravel, good ground
- 17:29clearance and the hill descent control is great.
- 17:31That was another one where when I was partly done with the off
- 17:35road course in the first one because they were dead, a black
- 17:37and then a coupe and I was like OK, this is really good, at
- 17:42least for this light off roading that we were doing.
- 17:44I don't know that I would take my own if I went and got a
- 17:46brand. New one because of it's
- 17:49beautiful wheels. Yeah, like it's such a nice car,
- 17:52but it's it was a really interesting thought process to
- 17:54kind of think about that throughout the day.
- 17:56Like none of these cars are cheap.
- 17:58Some are more expensive than others, but you know, like
- 18:03they're also really fun. And what especially car
- 18:06enthusiasts love to do is enjoy the cars.
- 18:08So it's like, where's the fine? Like, where's the happy medium
- 18:10of you want to be able to enjoy the car but also have something
- 18:13nice for every day? And it's, you know, especially
- 18:16cars that you don't typically think of as being off roaders.
- 18:19So it's an interesting thought experiment.
- 18:22What? Are you taking home?
- 18:25So, believe it or not, the Tiguan.
- 18:28I think that car is the new one is great.
- 18:31It's got a wonderful interior. The only thing I don't like
- 18:33about, at least here at altitude, there's a bit of a
- 18:35hesitation with the turbo motor until it builds up boost and
- 18:39that drives me nuts. But the interior's fantastic,
- 18:42very Audi like. I think it's a good looking
- 18:44thing. The dynamics are great, so I am
- 18:47glad to be seconded in that. That I know well.
- 18:52And I found this shirt, so I was like, well, that's what I'm
- 18:55wearing for the show. I loved it and I went into it
- 19:00without like no preconceived notions one way or another, no
- 19:03expectations. I got out of it and I
- 19:05immediately wanted to get back in it.
- 19:08Super sleek, very elevated interior, like really high end
- 19:11looking. I think it has a nice graphic
- 19:15either when you get in or out again, which is apparently the
- 19:18weight of my heart. Dan, I don't think you've driven
- 19:20one of these, but it is much closer to your Audi SQ5 than it
- 19:25is to, you know, my old 2017 Tiguan that I had for years.
- 19:29It's just it's like, you know, that was a great car in its own
- 19:32way, but this is just a much, much more modern, you know,
- 19:36upscale interior, that kind of thing.
- 19:37Again, much more like your Audi than than you know the the
- 19:40Volkswagens if you were. So I'm just thinking, The Last
- 19:42Cruise Show didn't we? Didn't we criticize VW for
- 19:48leaving their GTI brethren behind?
- 19:52And in actual fact, they've just changed to a different audience.
- 19:55Yeah, I guess. Yeah, I think you're right.
- 19:57I mean, we have definitely had some thoughts about Volkswagen,
- 20:00haven't we? And that's I was thinking about
- 20:01you guys and I was thinking about Ryan.
- 20:03Obviously you had a Tiguan of previous generation and it's,
- 20:07you know, we've commented like you can tell when a car between
- 20:11models makes a giant leap forward.
- 20:13And I think this is a perfect example of that when you compare
- 20:15it to the previous one. I mean, it felt like a luxury
- 20:18car. Interestingly, talking about
- 20:20changing for the audience, you know, that that version I had
- 20:232017, I think it, I think that model went through 18 or
- 20:26something, but it was, that was old when we got it, right.
- 20:28I think that had come out in Europe in like 2009 or
- 20:31something. And interestingly, that car was
- 20:33available with a manual at least for two or three years here in
- 20:36the States, but only as a front wheel drive, which is, you know,
- 20:39something that, you know, didn't do it for us.
- 20:41But yeah, I don't know how many of them they actually made, but
- 20:43again, you know, they have. Yeah, they've changed for the
- 20:49times, I guess, but you know, not that long.
- 20:52We could get a manual on the Tiguan and that's.
- 20:55Pretty awesome. How do I know?
- 20:56Now you can't. Get a manual with GTI but I know
- 20:59go. Figure I know, but yeah.
- 21:01And they had. The press agree with you on the
- 21:05choice. So we didn't really like,
- 21:11everybody would kind of like we'd sort of share throughout
- 21:15the day, like, oh, would you just drive whatever.
- 21:17At least I didn't. I kind of wanted to keep my my
- 21:21votes pristine. It's like, you know, the jury's
- 21:23not supposed to discuss the case.
- 21:26Oh, and I have to say that the massage seats in the Tiguan were
- 21:30top notch. Yeah, and there is a difference
- 21:34between the quality of the massage from 1 mark to the next.
- 21:38Some are just kind of annoying, you know, and others are are
- 21:41quite nice. Look, we're telling you it's a
- 21:43massage, Yeah? Yeah.
- 21:45No, it was, it was really good. Yeah.
- 21:48So to wrap this up, would you like to hear the winners?
- 21:53Yeah, I, I, I, I would not have predicted the Volkswagen
- 21:56necessarily. Right.
- 22:00Well, that was so that was my winner and that we have the
- 22:03official winners. OK, so the two row family SUV
- 22:08was the 2026 Subaru trail Seeker Limited.
- 22:12The three row family SUV was the Kia Telluride luxury SUV was the
- 22:17Lucid gravity. The pickup truck, because we
- 22:20only had one even though we probably would have won anyway,
- 22:23was the Ram 1500 Warlock Crew Cab 4 by 4.
- 22:26The electrified activity vehicle was the Trail Seeker, the
- 22:30extreme capability vehicle was the Jeep Wrangler, Moab Best
- 22:34Northwest Outdoor, Best Value Northwest Outdoor Activity
- 22:39vehicle was the Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid Woodland and the
- 22:44Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year Grand prize
- 22:47winner was the Super Trail Seeker Limited.
- 22:50Interesting. Yeah, wow.
- 22:52So Lindsay, I've got the R map, the Rocky Mountain Automotive
- 22:56Press equivalent of the event. You just.
- 22:58Did here in about 3 weeks and I imagine.
- 22:59It'll be many of the many of the same cars, so we will definitely
- 23:03have to compare notes. The problem is we always get
- 23:06like 1 Land Rover Defender and that just like, you know, throws
- 23:09me off for the. Whole I was thinking about that
- 23:11because we did not have one and I'm like had we had. 1 That's an
- 23:16impressive line about it. Yeah, it wasn't a bad one in the
- 23:19bunch, so. No, they were.
- 23:22It was really fun, very cool variety and it was really fun to
- 23:26drive those cars in that environment and like put it, put
- 23:29them through the paces in a way that you wouldn't normally
- 23:31necessarily. So yes, two wonderful.
- 23:37You know you are on to something special when you get notice for
- 23:41your work and then get commissioned to do new work.
- 23:44And I don't know if we're allowed to talk about it or not,
- 23:45Ryan, but you've been commissioned to write some new
- 23:48articles. Are you allowed to say who for
- 23:50and? I think so, yeah.
- 23:52Yeah, the good folks at Avant's magazine have brought me in to
- 23:55do a couple of features for the the fall 2026 issue.
- 24:00Amazing. And so it was a busy week.
- 24:03The first one I went out in, in your neck of the woods, Dan, I
- 24:07got to see you briefly, but I got to spend the afternoon with
- 24:10the legend that is Bruce Meyer. And, and I know Bruce a little
- 24:15bit. He was on my previous podcast,
- 24:18the Steering Committee a few years back.
- 24:20And I knew him through the Colorado grand and seemed to run
- 24:22into him a lot and consider him a friend, really nice guy.
- 24:25And he was so kind to spend the afternoon with me and a
- 24:29photographer by the name of Brandon Faith.
- 24:32You should check out his work. He's a great follow on
- 24:34Instagram, Beggin, I think under score photos.
- 24:37He's got a really interesting back story as well.
- 24:40I don't have the time to get into that today, but he and I
- 24:43had a wonderful afternoon with Bruce.
- 24:44The the idea was we're going to take out one of his analog cars.
- 24:49And if you know his collection, you you know he has some of the
- 24:52best cars in the world, right? He has the very first roof
- 24:55yellow bird. He has the very first Cobra 427,
- 25:01right? Shelby Cobra.
- 25:02He's got one. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:04He's CSX 001 or whatever, you know he's got I.
- 25:08Think Carol had the first one but.
- 25:09The first was that 000 or something?
- 25:11But it wasn't a production one. Yeah.
- 25:13Bruce Right, Right. Right, Yeah, it has a one on the
- 25:16hood, right. It does.
- 25:18He's got some really significant Ferraris.
- 25:19He's got this beautiful Bitzerini, he's got hot rods
- 25:22and, and I even wore my yellow Adidas hoping he'd take out that
- 25:25damn roof yellow bird. But when we showed up, the plan
- 25:29was to take out one of his 32 Ford coupes and now he's got
- 25:32more than one. You know, he I think drove a 32
- 25:35Ford coupe at Bonneville the 200 miles an hour.
- 25:38This wasn't that car. We, we took out this 32 Ford
- 25:42coupe that he had driven to Canada recently and back, which
- 25:46is really saying something. So 32 Ford coupe chopped.
- 25:49It's got about 3 inches of windshield of glass all around.
- 25:52He and I drove this thing up, I guess it's Beverly Blvd. to to
- 25:59Mel's diner. The iconic Mel's diner did some
- 26:02photos with with Brandon. You know pro tip, if Bruce ever
- 26:08says you should go to Mel's Diner and then asks you what you
- 26:11ordered when you return, please don't disappoint him like I did
- 26:15and say the smoothie. Bruce is not a smoothie guy kind
- 26:19of guy. No.
- 26:21But you know, you're working, you know, I mean, you know, as
- 26:23much as I wanted a, you know, a smash burger or something, it's
- 26:26just that, you know, I had AI had a long day ahead of me, but
- 26:29like I got the. Pastrami with an egg on it,
- 26:32that's. A very little sauerkraut on the
- 26:34side. I do that.
- 26:35Let me tell you, you've not lived until you have driven in
- 26:38rush hour traffic in a 32 Ford coupe hot rod, you know, just
- 26:42rumbling away, you know, through Beverly Hills right to Mel's
- 26:47Diner with Mr. Bruce Meyer. It's engineered for perfection,
- 26:59every contour sculpted for uninterrupted motion, wider,
- 27:05smoother, more refined, and drives like a dream.
- 27:13Introducing the 2026 E 470 experience.
- 27:18The difference he's he's, he's such a great guy.
- 27:20He's so generous. Shout out to his collection
- 27:23manager, to Tom Kenny, who's just a hell of a nice guy.
- 27:26And it's just so fun spending time in that space with those
- 27:29cars. I mean, it's, it's spiritual's
- 27:32not the word, but it's very special to just sort of be in
- 27:34that share that air with those cars.
- 27:37And, and Bruce is just such a neat guy as well.
- 27:39And so we had a nice conversation.
- 27:43Watch out for the fall edition of Avant's magazine for the full
- 27:46article. I think the, the photos are
- 27:48going to be spectacular, all shot on film.
- 27:52So I think it's just going to be a really cool look.
- 27:55I'm very excited to well, I, I've got to write the DM article
- 27:58first, but I, I promise you it's going to be a really good one.
- 28:01No, it's going to. Be.
- 28:03Great, but it was just a great trip.
- 28:04It was it was quick, 48 hours. Got to see you Dan got to spend
- 28:08some time at the Peterson and always get the the very special
- 28:11behind the scenes tour, which I appreciate.
- 28:14And also got to see our our business manager slash 4th.
- 28:19You know, Musketeer head Michael La Sasso.
- 28:22What's that Musketeer? That's right.
- 28:25Yeah, definitely. And we had a really nice lunch.
- 28:28So Michael lives in El Segundo. I've been to El Segundo a
- 28:32million times, but I had never been to, I think they call it
- 28:35the Old Town part of El Segundo. So you know, every day is a
- 28:39school day. Michael's got this really great
- 28:42house and sort of the older part of town.
- 28:44So if you know El Segundo, it's kind of hemmed in like they're
- 28:46the office buildings on one end, like Mattel is there.
- 28:49I think Boeing is there. You've got LAX on the other
- 28:52side, then you've got like a big refinery from like 1912 that's
- 28:57still there refining I guess. And then you've got the one side
- 29:01you can actually enter El Segundo in or by and it was
- 29:06fantastic. It's like a movie set or like
- 29:08this like little town within, you know, the middle of of LA
- 29:12tucked. Away.
- 29:13Yeah, it's got like a town square with like a gazebo.
- 29:15It's got like an old movie theater.
- 29:18It's got old corner bars. It really.
- 29:20And apparently they do film a lot of movies there for obvious
- 29:22reasons. Gonna say did you make a left
- 29:24turn and end up on the Gilmore Girls?
- 29:28That's what was eerie about it's got been here 1000 times and and
- 29:32but we had a really can't remember the name of the the
- 29:33place, but had a great lunch. Had a great dinner with you,
- 29:37Dan. That what I'd want to call a
- 29:39Taco joint because it was upscale dining.
- 29:41It was funny. Cinco de Mayo wasn't.
- 29:43It cinco de. That's right.
- 29:45Shots it was. You have to celebrate.
- 29:48Have to celebrate Genesis again. Was kind enough to provide me
- 29:52with AG90 black. So this is the the big sedan.
- 29:56This is the S class competitor while I was in LA and that's a
- 30:01lot of vehicle to pilot around Los Angeles, but I wouldn't have
- 30:06wanted it any other way. Supremely comfortable.
- 30:09Again, massaging seats, you know, pumps out the perfume.
- 30:12It was again, the very, very much the calming, you know, sort
- 30:16of atmosphere that you want for 48 busy hours in LA.
- 30:21Took it down to Palos Verdes by the by the lighthouse.
- 30:26I had visions of taking pictures of the car next to the
- 30:29lighthouse. And then I realized you can't
- 30:30get anywhere near the lighthouse.
- 30:31But it was a wonderful trip. And yeah, it, you know, you
- 30:37spend time with Bruce and, you know, like I said, I've done a
- 30:39few things with him. And it's one of the things you
- 30:42realize once you're gone, how special that time really is that
- 30:47you spent. We're so fortunate to do what we
- 30:49do, to know these people that we know, to have these experiences
- 30:52that we have, you know, but it's kind of snuck up on me a little
- 30:55bit, right? And, you know, I'm on the plane
- 30:58going home and thinking, like, I mean, how do I ever get into
- 31:02this, this situation? Yeah.
- 31:04Whose life is this? Yeah, I'm in this car.
- 31:06This, this, this hot rod, which is where Bruce really started
- 31:09his, you know, automotive enthusiasm, you know, you know,
- 31:14cutting through through Beverly Hills, right, you know,
- 31:16surrounded by, you know, exotic cars and Bentleys and, you know,
- 31:19Porsches and all that. And how badass that is in this
- 31:22Black 32 hot rod. Just, you know, loudest thing
- 31:26around, right. Pretty, pretty special, pretty
- 31:29awesome. And.
- 31:30And can't wait to try to encapsulate that experience into
- 31:33an article. So that was a that was a fun
- 31:36trip. Yeah.
- 31:37And then, well. It sounds like what was what was
- 31:39John Childenko saying? He's giving up on being cool,
- 31:41like he said. Like it's you give up on being
- 31:45cool. It's like the definition of cool
- 31:46though. Like you're not competing with
- 31:48the hyper cars because there's no competition, no.
- 31:51That's it. I mean, that's, I mean, I think
- 31:53I peaked, you know, it's, I think the pictures are going to
- 31:56be pretty fantastic too, you know, and then I came home and,
- 32:00and had a few days off before we did another photo shoot for
- 32:05Avant's magazine. Again, I don't think I'm
- 32:08speaking out of out of out of class here, but our friend Tom
- 32:12Horan share the Colorado grand has in his collection of many,
- 32:15many cool cars and Alphaholics GTAR.
- 32:20If you don't know Alphaholics, it is very much what Singer is
- 32:23to Porsche, right? Alphaholics is to Alfa Romeo and
- 32:27this is their top of the line car.
- 32:29I think the waiting period on these is like 10 years.
- 32:31This was one of the earlier cars.
- 32:33It's all steel and aluminum I think versus some of the later
- 32:37cars which are are are mostly carbon.
- 32:39This is a 240 horsepower £1800 car that is just gorgeous.
- 32:46It's painted in this Ferrari blue.
- 32:48I didn't get a ton of time to to really open it up, but you know,
- 32:54we had, we were up early, 6:00 AM for sunrise, this kind of
- 32:58thing. Another wonderful photographer,
- 33:00Justin Chan, got some amazing photos that I have seen because
- 33:04he shot on digital. I think the I think the film's
- 33:07probably still being. Processed, that's how.
- 33:09It goes but fun morning shout out to Matt Hunter who who drove
- 33:13our photo car as well. And again, one of those pinch me
- 33:17moments. I'm behind the wheel of this
- 33:18very expensive, very special Alcoholics, you know, car
- 33:23desperately trying to, you know, maneuver my big size fourteens
- 33:26in the pedal box in a way that I'm not, you know, burning out
- 33:28the clutch or anything like that.
- 33:31And, and just yeah, it's going to be a great article again with
- 33:34some great photography and, and can't wait to to share it when
- 33:37that comes out and fall as well. So Avant's magazine.
- 33:40I appreciate them throwing some work my way, I guess, right.
- 33:43So. They do, they do good stuff and
- 33:45they recognize talent where they when they see it, so I'm excited
- 33:48to read the articles. Kind of say that, yeah, I'm
- 33:50excited and and Dan, you've also been busy.
- 33:54Yes. So while you guys were having a
- 33:57boring time of it, I decided to do a bit of a road trip.
- 34:02So I went up to Laguna Seca a couple of weeks ago for the IMSA
- 34:05Racing. If you've driven from LA to
- 34:10Laguna, it's it's about 5 hours, 5 1/2 hours depending on who's
- 34:13behind the wheel. So on the way up, I thought I
- 34:16would cut cut up the time and I stopped at Morro Bay and I don't
- 34:19know if you guys, have you guys been to Morro Bay, I.
- 34:22Know it's beautiful, but I've never been.
- 34:23Yeah, so it's a beautiful Bay with a big haystack rock in, you
- 34:27know, out in the in the water. What I didn't know was this was
- 34:32Friday night. Saturday morning was the Morro
- 34:35Bay car show. So I.
- 34:38Brought up to my hotel and there was some beautiful muscle cars.
- 34:42You know, we're talking really lovely muscle cars.
- 34:46What wasn't so lovely was at 4:00 AM the as they started to
- 34:51place the bastards. So I got a very early start the
- 34:55next day to get up to Laguna Seca, which was obviously not
- 34:59intentional. But what it did mean is that I
- 35:00got to take the highway the the coast road super early.
- 35:05So I hit that road about 7:00 AM and it was a perfect drive.
- 35:11You remember these perfect drives right Where you.
- 35:13Just never happened. Everything, everything comes
- 35:16together. I mean I was in my Audi's, I
- 35:18wasn't in the sports car, but I was overtaking things.
- 35:21I was just enjoying the view, enjoying the road and that was a
- 35:26perfect drive up to Laguna. There was a great weekend, the
- 35:29racing going on. I was lucky enough to spend some
- 35:33time with BMW. They kindly said to me would I
- 35:37like to go on a hot lap? So I I'd never been on the track
- 35:41at Lagoon and believe it or not, I've been there so many times.
- 35:44You know, I know where all the good viewing points are and
- 35:46everything, but I've never been on the track.
- 35:48And now you know where all the actual good viewing points are
- 35:51on. Yeah, I know.
- 35:53I think I saw your post about this and I really wonder what it
- 35:55was like. There's a video on my Instagram
- 35:58and it was interesting. So this was an M4 with a very
- 36:03professional driver. I managed to get the front seat.
- 36:07I did offer the rear. I did offer the front seat to
- 36:10the 2 ladies that I travelled with.
- 36:12They wanted to stay together. They wanted to yell together and
- 36:14apparently they've created some some Instagram moments as a
- 36:18result. But I was in the front seat with
- 36:19my glasses on my my meta glasses.
- 36:22The no one prepares you for the Corkscrew.
- 36:27The Corkscrew is a climb to a blind corner.
- 36:33You literally. Altitude to.
- 36:35Get the top. It's a blind corner.
- 36:38It's a leap of faith. And then you, you drop 7
- 36:42stories. Seven stories.
- 36:45So that's like 2 houses, Three houses in height, right?
- 36:48Yeah. In the space of about at speed,
- 36:50Yeah. You see the nose of your car
- 36:54pointed up. Right in the end, like it's.
- 36:57The most disconcerting You're just like, what are we?
- 37:00All right? Here we go.
- 37:03So yeah, so it was an amazing experience.
- 37:05A big thank you to BMW North America for putting me in the
- 37:08seat. And yeah.
- 37:12Dan I've only ever been a spectator there and I was
- 37:16shocked at just the geography as a spectator.
- 37:20I someday I'll do it, but I cannot imagine what that's like
- 37:23behind the wheel. They don't build tracks like
- 37:25that anymore. They just don't.
- 37:27And and it it doesn't, it doesn't translate in photos or
- 37:30video games or anything like that.
- 37:33It is just one of the iconic, I guess turns in the world.
- 37:37It's really special. I'm so glad you got to do that.
- 37:39That's so cool. And you walk away with a better
- 37:42appreciation for these drivers. Like, I wish I could drive at
- 37:4850%. How good that driver was that
- 37:50took me around that track? Yeah, yeah, Like 50%.
- 37:52I'd be happy. Yeah.
- 37:54But yeah, no, it was a fun, fun weekend.
- 37:57And yeah, it was, it's a, it was a good, good event and good to
- 38:03see some few familiar faces at the track.
- 38:05So. You've driven that.
- 38:09So I got to be a passenger in the Shelby.
- 38:11I haven't driven it. Long story, I was supposed to
- 38:13drive it a couple years ago and it did not.
- 38:15There was a series of unfortunate events, but I when
- 38:21in 1997, they were honoring Shelby as one of the featured
- 38:24marks. And so I had helped my dad get
- 38:27the rear end back in the car. And so we got to do the parade
- 38:30lapse and he said, all right, you helped.
- 38:32So you get the front seat. And I mean, like Dan said, like
- 38:37nothing prepares you for the Corkscrew.
- 38:39We got to it. And, you know, I'm obviously not
- 38:43driving, but I remember like kind of all of us at the same
- 38:45time just going like, and then down you go. 29 years ago and
- 38:51you remember it like it was yesterday.
- 38:52I know. And you were six at the time,
- 38:54which is. I mean, I was really in utero,
- 38:56but neither here nor there, Yeah.
- 38:59Zygote Lindsey. Yeah, yeah.
- 39:01I mean, truly, I can picture the nose of the car and just sky and
- 39:06I think, you know, and I think about like my dad had his three
- 39:10kids and one of my cousins in the car.
- 39:12So I'm like, I know what it felt like as the passenger.
- 39:14I can imagine what it feels like as the driver just in general.
- 39:17And then on top of that, you're like, and I have all my kids in
- 39:19the car and somebody else's child and what it was.
- 39:22What's the line, the line from Stand by Me, my favorite movie
- 39:26and Dan's and possibly yours, Lindsay.
- 39:27But we got to savor these moments, right?
- 39:29I mean, it's it's I'm I'm butchering that.
- 39:31But but but you know, they're special, right?
- 39:34Whether it's spending time with Bruce, whether it's, you know,
- 39:37the Corkscrew at Laguna, you know, whether it's highlighting
- 39:41a Subaru through the mud. I mean, but I mean, just we're
- 39:43so fortunate to have these these experiences, right?
- 39:46Yeah. Well, and you make a good point.
- 39:48Like I didn't think about, I mean, that was coming up on 30
- 39:51years ago and I truly do remember it, you know, and I
- 39:54would imagine Dan's gonna remember it forever.
- 39:56I mean, because there is no way to prep either.
- 39:59So it's sort of compounds the the impression that it makes on
- 40:03you. Yeah.
- 40:03Yeah. Anyway, I've been away from
- 40:08Washington state for a year now, which is hard to believe.
- 40:12Like the folks up there are making some crazy moves with
- 40:16their planning of road and infrastructure just outside of
- 40:20Kirkland. Wasn't that the best link ever?
- 40:22Come on the. Master.
- 40:24Of. The Segway the the folks.
- 40:27So there's a little town just outside Seattle called Kirkland,
- 40:31and it sounds like they've got a bit batshit crazy with their
- 40:35road infrastructure. Yeah, well, and I always tell
- 40:38people, you know, they ask about the weather and and they sort of
- 40:42geography and the scenery. And I always say, well, we're on
- 40:44the same latitude as England, so the scenery looks the same.
- 40:48I remember when I first came here, I'm like.
- 40:49That's why you like it with. All the trees, right?
- 40:52The weather is very similar. And I think they've just taken
- 40:56the next logical step, which is they're going to transform all
- 40:58the intersections into roundabouts, apparently.
- 41:02And so Kirkland is now the proud owner of and real Brits.
- 41:07And Dan, I consider you in this group.
- 41:10It's not a true triple roundabout in the sense that one
- 41:12doesn't feed directly into the other.
- 41:15But in the States, for all intents and purposes, they just
- 41:17put in a triple roundabout in Kirkland, which like people in
- 41:20the States have trouble with one single lane roundabout.
- 41:25So they're like, we're just going to really mess everything
- 41:27up. And it's the intersections that
- 41:30they have redone. We're functioning perfectly fine
- 41:34in terms of like it was something I drove multiple times
- 41:37a day every day, never an issue. This project is probably going
- 41:42to be 3 years long. I think we're a year and a half
- 41:44or two into it. It's been like non-stop chaos
- 41:49leading up to this point where like the number of times that my
- 41:52daughter and I would come back from the airport and the off
- 41:54ramp was completely changed and it's dark and whatever.
- 41:58I'm amazed there were more accidents while they were
- 42:00putting this together. So they've now instead of just
- 42:04having, we used to have cloverleaf on and off ramps to
- 42:07the freeway, they have taken those completely out.
- 42:09They dugout under the freeway to put in these roundabouts, taking
- 42:14out all the traffic lights. As you'd imagine.
- 42:16I just didn't realize this was part of the project.
- 42:18And they've put in there's a roundabout like under the
- 42:22freeway and then there's one on either side of the freeway and
- 42:25it's just madness. And the, I mean, and it's like,
- 42:28to compound the absurdity of it, the Kirkland city government is
- 42:32posting on Instagram. They're like, great news.
- 42:34The roundabouts are ready to go. Just remember to follow the
- 42:36signs and pick the lane you need to be in.
- 42:38And I'm like, no, but that's what people can't do.
- 42:41Like, yeah, that is the essence of why it's such a difficult
- 42:44thing here. Yeah.
- 42:44I mean. We just didn't grow up with
- 42:46this. Right.
- 42:47We didn't grow up, no. It's just that we didn't grow up
- 42:49with it. And, you know, at Wisconsin,
- 42:51where, you know, I was born and where my, you know, family all
- 42:54lives, they've gone, you know, roundabout crazy as well.
- 42:57And it's just they take up so much land relative to, you know,
- 43:02the alternatives. It's just, you know, if that's
- 43:05what you're used to, if that's what's always been there,
- 43:06wonderful. But incidentally, the only place
- 43:09here in in Denver that I can think of that has three in a row
- 43:11like that is the entrance to our Costco Kirkland.
- 43:15Get it? There's a conspiracy here,
- 43:18right? Like ways of getting.
- 43:20Better as we go through. I know it's all part of a grand
- 43:23plan and we're going to glitch in the matrix as we figured it
- 43:26out right here on that. That's it.
- 43:28I think I'm a pretty good driver, but I, I was daydreaming
- 43:32the other day and I, I stopped, you know, short in one of those
- 43:35because I, I just, I wasn't paying attention and there was
- 43:38someone approaching it just the right time and I had to sort of
- 43:40process like, well, who gets to go and this kind of thing?
- 43:43So it's just it seems like make work.
- 43:45It seems you know, it seems like it's.
- 43:47Definitely busy work, like we're just creating.
- 43:50I mean, and you know, the obviously the contractors are
- 43:53happy to laugh all the way to the bank.
- 43:54But yeah, I mean, I went through it twice yesterday just because
- 43:59I'm like, I got to go check it out.
- 44:01I mean, I was, I was sort of morbidly curious.
- 44:04I'm like, this is a mess. I mean, like we were talking
- 44:07about it at my house and it is a major.
- 44:09Like, it's a major, you know, intersection with the freeway,
- 44:13major freeway access right there.
- 44:15It's a major Rd. through town. Like it's a huge part of getting
- 44:20around here. And our gut reaction was like,
- 44:23well, I guess we have to find alternate routes because that's
- 44:25going to be a nightmare. And now we have to find
- 44:27alternate routes away from this, what used to be a very
- 44:30convenient thoroughfare. I can't even imagine what it's
- 44:33going to be like at rush hour. I went through it in the middle
- 44:36of the day and there were people you could tell that had been
- 44:39stuck on the sides trying to figure out how to get into the
- 44:41roundabout. You're like, well, yeah, yeah.
- 44:46Learn us a thing or two here about roundabouts, because isn't
- 44:48it in European vacation where they find themselves in a
- 44:51roundabout that just sort of keeps going roundabout?
- 44:53Is that in the UK or is that somewhere else?
- 44:56I, I was going to say, so there's a couple of things.
- 44:57Firstly, I think the next step in the master plan is that auto
- 45:01collision repair centers are going to sponsor those
- 45:04roundabouts. Right.
- 45:05Off my words. Yeah.
- 45:07There is something in a place called Swindon.
- 45:10That's the magic roundabout, and we'll get Ryan to insert a
- 45:14picture of said magic roundabout.
- 45:17It is one major roundabout with eight roundabouts on the outside
- 45:21of the one roundabout. It seems like an.
- 45:25Evil joke. Yeah.
- 45:26Yeah. So even as a Brit, that's a
- 45:28nightmare for you. OK, so that's yeah, that's a,
- 45:31that's a bridge or a roundabout too far.
- 45:34Yeah, very much so. You've got it bad, but you
- 45:36haven't got it really bad, Lindsay.
- 45:38Right. Well, I kept thinking of have
- 45:40you driven the silly aisles in London?
- 45:43And that's a 11. But that was all I kept thinking
- 45:46was like, we've got our very own silly aisles with a bonus extra
- 45:49nightmare on the end. But that's an actual double
- 45:53roundabout where the roundabouts are connected to each other.
- 45:56We do love our roundabouts though.
- 45:57I remember a few years ago just outside where I grew up, there
- 46:01was a famous artist and he would put different art in the middle
- 46:04of the roundabout at night. So you would appear like the
- 46:07next day and suddenly be surprised because there's a guy
- 46:10rowing a boat. Or what you need.
- 46:12Yeah, maybe. Maybe you and Tori can go and
- 46:16create some art. Well it's funny that you and he
- 46:19had the same thought. He was like the only people that
- 46:22are going to win are the auto collision repair shops here.
- 46:26Right. I mean, at least initially it's,
- 46:29it's just such a strange, you know, it's one of those things
- 46:32where it's like we've all been in companies or whatever where
- 46:35they're like, oh, the budget, you know, end of your budgets
- 46:37coming up. We got to spend this money.
- 46:39We're like, this feels like the most enormous public example of
- 46:43like, we got to spend this money or we're going to lose it.
- 46:45Yeah, yeah, I'm impressed. You called it a roundabout, not
- 46:49a traffic circle. So that's 10 points to you it.
- 46:53Was one of those things where it was very funny when I was
- 46:55driving a lot of the SUVs at Mudfest and I kept being
- 46:58grateful for my like track experience because I knew where
- 47:02like I knew what a lot of the markers meant on the go Kart
- 47:05track and I kept thinking like this is not a way that I ever
- 47:08thought I would be applying these skills and it was the same
- 47:12thing like I'm I was grateful for the time that I've spent in
- 47:15England when I was trying to drive these roundabouts
- 47:17yesterday like didn't think I'd be applying those skills here
- 47:21but. It's your steering wheels on the
- 47:23the correct side of the car. Yeah.
- 47:25Advanced training from England. Can we talk about customer
- 47:29loyalty? We can.
- 47:30So this was a recent report I saw and slightly inspired by a
- 47:34conversation I had with someone a few years ago.
- 47:36So I'm going to say it's a few years ago.
- 47:38It may not be current, but when I was talking to that
- 47:41individual, he had recently left McLaren and he said the customer
- 47:47retention for McLaren. So retention defined as a
- 47:50customer buying a second McLaren, so selling the first
- 47:53one buying a second was less than 5%.
- 47:57Wow. That is shocking.
- 48:00Wow, even. From McLaren.
- 48:02On the flip side of that, I've got a list of the most loyal
- 48:06brands, so. Can I guess?
- 48:11Yeah, so let's do. And this is going to add insult
- 48:13to injury. It's probably General Motors do.
- 48:17You know what? General Motors isn't even on the
- 48:19top 20. Oh no, it's obviously.
- 48:21Ford. Ford are at six.
- 48:25OK. And these are percentage
- 48:27numbers. I'm wondering whether if you get
- 48:29above 60%, so there's only two brands that are above 60%, does
- 48:33that officially become a cult? Well, it depends.
- 48:37It's. One of them Porsche.
- 48:39Tesla is it #1? OK, then yes.
- 48:44So the cult of Tesla at 61.1% loyalty?
- 48:49Wow, that's. Impressive.
- 48:51Pretty damn high. Porsche made it in, but only at
- 48:5317 is it. Top 20 or whatever. .7 Yeah,
- 48:58this is the top 20. 46.7. Porsche, well, I think you guys
- 49:03need to guess the top three and we've mentioned Lexus got three
- 49:07a lot. Lexus has got to be up there.
- 49:09No. No Toyota.
- 49:12Oh, Toyota, Toyota at #3 So we have Tesla something Toyota,
- 49:19Honda #5 OK. Is it domestic?
- 49:27No. OK, OK.
- 49:29Mercedes-Benz. #10 we could be here all night.
- 49:33Wow. OK, we need to get one more
- 49:35guess and then you have to tell us.
- 49:37You've mentioned them numerous times tonight.
- 49:41Subaru. Subaru number 2.
- 49:44So Tesla is 61.1%, Subaru is 60.5%.
- 49:53So that's about 60. So is there a cult of Subaru?
- 49:56Yeah, I think. You could argue that there's
- 49:58like a healthy cult of Subaru. Yeah, yeah.
- 50:02And then Toyota is at 59.9 and at #4 is an Italian sports car.
- 50:12Ferrari. OK, OK, so the top, yeah, the
- 50:16top five round out Tesla, Subaru, Toyota, Ferrari and then
- 50:21Honda. Well, is that loyalty or is that
- 50:24some sort of forced loyalty? You know, if you want to buy a
- 50:28another, you know, that's just, you can't just buy one.
- 50:32Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe.
- 50:33Well, that actually brings me on to my second chart.
- 50:36Yeah, the Ferrari are the best in the world of making profit
- 50:41per car, right? It's a known fact.
- 50:44They do two things really well and they're publicly, you know,
- 50:47knowledgeable about this. The first thing is they always
- 50:50make 2 less cars than they have demand for, creating a market
- 50:54demand. And secondly, they make the
- 50:57highest profit per car of any car company in the world.
- 51:01So this second report talks about how many cars do a
- 51:06manufacturer have to sell to achieve the profit levels of 1
- 51:09Ferrari. Does that make sense?
- 51:12Yes, yes. And which other companies are
- 51:15masters of making profit over their costs, right?
- 51:20Yeah. So do you want me to do you want
- 51:23to guess on the top three? Yes, like, OK.
- 51:26I think Porsche is nearing Ferrari.
- 51:29No, in it Porsche isn't even on the list.
- 51:32OK. Interesting Toyota.
- 51:35Sorry, I take that back. Porsche is halfway down the
- 51:38list, so about 15. Give them five years, they're
- 51:41going to be #2 you watch. There we go.
- 51:43They're. They're doing their best.
- 51:45Just squeeze us. So it's I.
- 51:48Think the thing, well, I think just let me clarify.
- 51:50I think the thing with Porsche is it's not the manufacturer
- 51:53that's making the profit, it's the dealerships because they're
- 51:56putting the aftermarket costing. Right.
- 51:58That's a good point. That's a good point.
- 51:59OK. So would that be so Lindsay,
- 52:02your guess was? Toyota.
- 52:05No. So the top three are all, well,
- 52:09I guess two, I would say a luxury and one is not luxury.
- 52:13The good on the list? No, I'm curious, OK.
- 52:16So #1. Yeah, did you want one more
- 52:19guest, Lindsay? Are you are you less of a garlic
- 52:23eating surrender monkey that? Might be my new instantly my new
- 52:29favorite insult. There we go.
- 52:31It's a new the episode of Nothing Else.
- 52:33It's what ground people Willie calls the French.
- 52:38Garlic eating surrender monkeys. We are here for you.
- 52:41Let's see, BMW A. Few moments later, yeah, they
- 52:54came in at #4. It's the true one.
- 52:56So BMW, you have to. Tell not too far off. 55 cars,
- 53:01they have to tell 55 cars to achieve the same level of
- 53:05profit. So that gives you an idea of the
- 53:06sort of volumes we're talking. So number one, it's our friends
- 53:13at Jaguar Land Rover. They have to.
- 53:16Sell 12 cars in order to. Well, that's all they sold Dan.
- 53:20So I think this is thrown off then.
- 53:23Well, no, this is Jaguar Land Rover, not.
- 53:25Just Jaguar. That's that, that's what we all
- 53:26know. Defenders killing it so and.
- 53:28Then yeah, the majority of that will be Range Rovers that are
- 53:30highly specced and everything else, right.
- 53:32Yeah. So at #2 and they have to sell
- 53:3638 cars. And I don't really believe this.
- 53:38It's Tesla. OK.
- 53:41But you know, why have you been in a like a 2026 Model 3 versus
- 53:47a 2012 or 15 or whatever it is when they first came out?
- 53:51No, go on. Quality.
- 53:52I was going to. Say, had they streamlined your
- 53:54efficiency? When you do you remember getting
- 53:57into one of those early cars? I'll never forget the first time
- 53:59I drove 1. Flew into LAX, got one from
- 54:01Hertz. I was so excited.
- 54:02Had that beautiful interior, all the materials were great, had
- 54:05the wood across the dash. Everything just felt like a
- 54:08luxury car. Fast forward to now, and I got
- 54:12in a brand new one. We were very excited to see one
- 54:15come up as a lift. And what used to be wood, what
- 54:18used to be fabric, cheap, shiny plastic now, right.
- 54:22It, it, it was shocking. It was jarring.
- 54:24You know how how far you know the Tesla Model 3 had fallen.
- 54:28And so I think if they're finding such profit, that's
- 54:32where they're finding it. Yeah, they're gold.
- 54:35There's gold up they're up there.
- 54:36And then plastic hills. Dan, it's.
- 54:38Well, that here's your that car show.
- 54:40Top tip by shares and Tesla there.
- 54:43You go. Right.
- 54:44And the number three with 45 cars.
- 54:48So you have to sell 45 cars that achieve the same level of profit
- 54:52as A1 Ferrari. It's Mercedes-Benz.
- 54:55Interesting. So it's super interesting, but I
- 54:58think we need. Sorry to interrupt, but is this?
- 55:02Should we look at this list as sort of inverse to the cars we
- 55:05want to buy? Because, you know, you mentioned
- 55:08Mercedes-Benz and you think of, you know, 124 right from the 90s
- 55:11or whatever, early 90s and just what a tank that was versus a
- 55:15much more modern but much less tank like modern Mercedes-Benz.
- 55:19I mean, should we be looking at the bottom of the list for cars
- 55:22that we want to actually buy ourselves?
- 55:24I'm curious like what's just a good?
- 55:27I was thinking more is like, is there more room for negotiation
- 55:32based on the fact that they're making more profit per car?
- 55:35I don't know. I think we need to pour one out
- 55:38for Mazda because Mazda needs to sell.
- 55:43Has everyone sat down? Mazda needs to sell and this is
- 55:46probably their annual sales figure.
- 55:49They need to sell 3498 cars to achieve the same level of profit
- 55:55as one Ferrari. Poor Mazda.
- 55:58You know, they're the the real Japanese enthusiast brand, you
- 56:02know, have always been as, you know, they are now.
- 56:06But they just I don't know how they compete because they're
- 56:08just exponentially smaller right than than the the domestic
- 56:12competition. And but that's a shocking
- 56:14number. I didn't realize that things
- 56:16were so bleak for them. I mean, are they going to be OK?
- 56:21Mazda like, I mean. People are buying their cars
- 56:25still, aren't they? I mean, they're they're really
- 56:27wonderful cars in in many, many ways, right?
- 56:29I mean, it's give me ACX 5, right, versus a Ford Escape or
- 56:35something CS CX5, you know, all day long.
- 56:39I think the interior design is great.
- 56:40I think they man, that's really what can they change to machine
- 56:48sell. Themselves.
- 56:48The Tesla. You know, they don't have a lot
- 56:52of EVs, right? I mean, right.
- 56:56And so I would think that the profit margin on an EV is
- 56:58naturally going to be much greater.
- 57:00Moving parts, right? Right, right, right.
- 57:02Yeah. And then do they have an EV?
- 57:04Does Mazda have an EVI? Think just hybrid.
- 57:08Yeah. I think Porsche had to sell 176
- 57:12cars well. That's considering, you know,
- 57:16they're the closest thing probably to Ferrari in price
- 57:18and, you know, compared to most of the others, right?
- 57:21Yeah, that's but Volkswagen were 126 cars.
- 57:25OK. They're doing all right, general
- 57:28motorists, 74 cars, so that's a lot of Corvettes.
- 57:32Yeah. Well, now that in, in, in
- 57:35Corvettes, you know, they've, they've really bumped the the
- 57:37prices up in the Corvette, right.
- 57:39It's which I think was smart, this perceived value too, which
- 57:42you know, right? Is is unless they're going over
- 57:44the hill at Laguna Steca without the brakes working, We've all
- 57:49seen that video. Yes, we have.
- 57:52So anyway, that was the list. I think it's time for some
- 57:57consumer advice. OK.
- 57:59Lindsay shared a new story with us that was a bulletin
- 58:04announcement internal at Toyota. So do you want to tell us a
- 58:07little bit, Lindsay, about what that was all about?
- 58:10So they sent out a service bulletin telling the service
- 58:14departments which oil they could substitute in the short term
- 58:18because the Shell refinery in Qatar is completely offline.
- 58:23And what is it? Shell and maybe mobile?
- 58:27I'm not remembering both correctly, but two of the oil
- 58:30companies had let Costco and Walmart know that they have no
- 58:34product packaged to send. So they're likely will be empty
- 58:39shelves in the future. So, you know, I was thinking
- 58:43about and then I know Dan, you shared you had bought some oil.
- 58:45I have a car that's going to need an oil change before too
- 58:47long. And I started thinking like,
- 58:49should we go stockpile? But I feel like, I feel like
- 58:52then you could create like a run on the bank.
- 58:54Basically, if everybody runs out and buys oil, you know, just in
- 58:58case, it could be like is is motor oil the new toilet paper?
- 59:04Yeah. So are these weights specific to
- 59:07Toyota or? Yeah, it was just the idea that
- 59:10Toyota knows that like they are anticipating a significant
- 59:14shortage. And so they've looked at it and
- 59:15said like, OK, we obviously want to keep servicing people's cars,
- 59:18and we want people to be able to keep driving them.
- 59:20So temporarily, here's what you can substitute.
- 59:23Yeah, it was like, that's you. Don't want to substitute an oil
- 59:26like that's not a that's not something you want to do, you
- 59:29know, in a modern engine with the tolerances and yeah, that's.
- 59:32That's why it was like, it's got to be pretty desperate if
- 59:34they're like, OK, so on a temporary basis, I want to say
- 59:38it was like 8 weight and 16 weight and they were saying you
- 59:41could substitute 20 weight for it, but.
- 59:44Doesn't that depend on where you are and other factors?
- 59:48I think you have to think that Toyota are masters of global
- 59:53supply chain, right? Obviously they probably sell
- 59:57more cars than pretty much anyone.
- 59:59So if they are thinking ahead and potentially.
- 1:00:03Yeah, I'm going to do a road trip in the Audi again, so I
- 1:00:06just bought a quart of oil. Just thinking ahead.
- 1:00:09But yeah, maybe it does make sense to just get in your
- 1:00:13favorite brand of oil just in case, especially if you have to
- 1:00:17do an oil change obviously because there's a lot more
- 1:00:19consumables required for that than there are just a top up.
- 1:00:23Yeah, I had this moment of like, oh, that oil change that I maybe
- 1:00:27wasn't going to schedule right away.
- 1:00:29Maybe that goes to the top of the list and is done more
- 1:00:31quickly than I was anticipating. So much winning these days,
- 1:00:35guys, So much. Winning, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:38But it's it's interesting because also there's been a
- 1:00:41significant uptake in electric car sales.
- 1:00:46Which is not what I want with a lease on an EV coming up right
- 1:00:49coming due here in a couple months.
- 1:00:51I was hoping for another discount like in the.
- 1:00:52Days of You 2. $100 yeah, leases.
- 1:00:55You can get back into a Tiguan. Perhaps we, you know, we will.
- 1:00:59I I yeah, it seems like. I'm just here to answer that
- 1:01:03question for you, Ryan. I went and did the research and
- 1:01:06the answer is back to Tiguan you.
- 1:01:08Go with a Stage 1 tune. Now we're talking.
- 1:01:11There you go. Yeah, some sort of COB tune on
- 1:01:13it. I'll lend you one of my SQ5
- 1:01:17badges. You can stick that on the back.
- 1:01:19Job's a good one, yeah. Well, real quick I got to give a
- 1:01:26shout out. I drove an Audi that I had never
- 1:01:28driven before. Is it the So we have a friend of
- 1:01:31the show named Jayden who's a listener who I had lunch with a
- 1:01:35couple days back. Had a really nice lunch, but he
- 1:01:37rolled up in a Is it the E Tron Rs or the Rs?
- 1:01:41E Tron GT. E Tron Rs Yeah.
- 1:01:44That's zero to 60 in 2.1 seconds guys.
- 1:01:48I got back in my pole star and it felt slow.
- 1:01:51A hell of a car. Really impressed.
- 1:01:54And apparently they can be picked up used for about 45 or
- 1:01:57$50,000 so and. I think they look.
- 1:02:02I love those whenever I see. Them on the road next time?
- 1:02:04They really do. Every time I see them, I'm like,
- 1:02:07that's the way to go. Really cool cars anyway like
- 1:02:11yeah yeah, get yourself one of these E Tron GTS a hell of a
- 1:02:14thing. I mean I did all the all the
- 1:02:16launches in that car. It was a fun post launch test
- 1:02:21drive. So how?
- 1:02:22Do you see it? Launch, yeah, that's right.
- 1:02:25That's. Right, you were launching and
- 1:02:26lunching with the best of them. Absolutely, absolutely wow.
- 1:02:30Good car, never driven. One before you made Ryan's week,
- 1:02:33which was or last week. It's been a pretty good week.
- 1:02:37I was going. To say several.
- 1:02:38Days, right? So very good Topper.
- 1:02:42Do you think Molly would take one for the school run?
- 1:02:45It's it's very wide right compared to they're they're
- 1:02:49quite they're they're what do I want to liken to?
- 1:02:53It's this one is in white. So from a distance, it's kind of
- 1:02:56like, you know, a bar of soap after you've used a few times.
- 1:02:58I mean, it was just kind of had the the curves and it was low
- 1:03:00and it was, it was just so it might be too much car for us,
- 1:03:04but I was impressed. I'd get into so much trouble
- 1:03:07with that car. 2.1 seconds, guys.
- 1:03:09That's I mean that's hyper car fast.
- 1:03:11Yeah, pretty easy writing, isn't it?
- 1:03:13It's funny if it's exactly the same size as the tycoon because
- 1:03:17they're based on, they're both based on the same platform,
- 1:03:20right? If it's the same size, that is
- 1:03:23the same size as a current Range Rover.
- 1:03:27Wow footprint like. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:29It's a lot of car and and I think because they're so low,
- 1:03:32they may be seen bigger. This one had a full carbon roof.
- 1:03:34No, no sunroof or anything. So you know, but that's yeah, it
- 1:03:39was not a small car. And yet you give up a lot of
- 1:03:41room in the back because of that coop like profile.
- 1:03:43Yeah, or that soap like profile. Yeah, but.
- 1:03:46So I don't know if it's you. Just know that in the designer
- 1:03:49meeting they're like, OK guys, just imagine our of soap.
- 1:03:54Very good bar so but maybe maybe too much vehicle for the the
- 1:03:58barky daily so. Wow, so is it the same wheelbase
- 1:04:01as a Range Rover? I don't know.
- 1:04:04I just know that the size, the physical size, I, I had one of
- 1:04:07the very first tie cans to review for the Porsche magazine
- 1:04:12many years ago and it was, yeah, I did my research.
- 1:04:17It was the same size as a Range Rover, so.
- 1:04:20That's wild. Well, it just tells you how much
- 1:04:23design impacts your perception of like size.
- 1:04:27And we've talked about color and how that impacts how you, you
- 1:04:30know, experience a design. But like those are such
- 1:04:33different designs to find out they're the same size.
- 1:04:36Visually it doesn't look like that.
- 1:04:37Yeah, yeah, the Ticon does seem smaller for some reason, but I
- 1:04:41don't know. Very.
- 1:04:42Good. Where's our?
- 1:04:42Assistant tonight, Dan. I think we've given them the
- 1:04:45night off, haven't we? And.
- 1:04:47So obviously. I think we've lent them to Jorge
- 1:04:50so he could use them on his show because apparently that's what
- 1:04:53he used and said. So hey, Jorge, I think we'll
- 1:04:58steer clear of the controversy tonight.
- 1:05:00But maybe it's a question for our audience.
- 1:05:04Is it ever OK to cut the mustard there?
- 1:05:07You go leave a comment. Yes, and there was an update
- 1:05:10posted today I saw. Yeah.
- 1:05:12So the mustard is the double yellow lines that run in the
- 1:05:16middle of a Rd. and technically it's illegal to cross them.
- 1:05:22Spirited drivers sometimes see a straight line from point A to
- 1:05:27point B versus a set of restrictions.
- 1:05:32But let us know audience, maybe we'll start a poll.
- 1:05:35Is it ever OK to cut the mustard?
- 1:05:40And I did want to make an ask to our audience as well.
- 1:05:44So we get lots of feedback every week.
- 1:05:47Great feedback, very constructive feedback.
- 1:05:49But one of the things that Ryan noticed is quite a small
- 1:05:53percentage of our listeners are actually subscribed.
- 1:05:56What was the number? 85% of our listeners are not
- 1:06:00subscribers, which shocked me. And I just think of how many
- 1:06:04listeners we'd have if those people were automatically
- 1:06:07getting force fed our show each week, right?
- 1:06:09So please do follow or subscribe or whatever the term is on your
- 1:06:13platform of choice because it makes a huge difference.
- 1:06:15If we can double that to, you know, 30% of you who subscribe,
- 1:06:19who listen, it would make a. Huge.
- 1:06:20We're going to send Ryan back to math school because 25 double
- 1:06:24does not equal 30. No, 1515, Did I say that wrong?
- 1:06:2985% of. People who?
- 1:06:31I thought. 85 Yeah, No, I am a product of the American it's
- 1:06:34public school system. So, you know, it wouldn't
- 1:06:37surprise me if I screwed that out.
- 1:06:39I've been too busy cutting mustard.
- 1:06:44Well, now we know what your answer would be.
- 1:06:45In the pool, Dan, that's. Right.
- 1:06:47It's funny because it's different in Europe.
- 1:06:49In Europe it's, you know, it's allowed.
- 1:06:51So as long as it's not like completely solid, but it's not
- 1:06:56frowned upon in the same way, I don't think, but.
- 1:06:59So what's the, what's the sensibility about it there?
- 1:07:03It's just, it's if it if it's safe, right?
- 1:07:07So if you can see a clear line from point A to point B, it's
- 1:07:12actually potentially advanced driving by taking a straight
- 1:07:16line versus cornering. Right.
- 1:07:19So and that's going to create more debate, I'm sure.
- 1:07:23I'm saying that's for Europe. I'm not saying that's for the
- 1:07:25US. So let us know would do you cut
- 1:07:28the mustard and and when is it appropriate?
- 1:07:31We are here to create controversy if nothing else.
- 1:07:34Consumer advice, Controversy. Car reviews?
- 1:07:38What else do you want from a podcast?
- 1:07:40I know. Well, I think did you guys
- 1:07:42notice this caught my attention because we've talked about it a
- 1:07:45lot lately with the fashion brand collaborations of, you
- 1:07:49know, yesteryear. Don't get me started, I've got
- 1:07:51one for you in a minute on this. I've got.
- 1:07:53One, OK, So obviously Subaru and LL Bean used to collaborate and
- 1:07:58Ford and Eddie Bauer. So Ford has come out with a new
- 1:08:02one. They are partnered with Carhartt
- 1:08:05and you're going to be able to purchase starting the 2027 model
- 1:08:09year, you'll be able to get the Ford Super Duty Carhartt
- 1:08:12Edition. Yeah, I am not man enough for
- 1:08:14that. The Carhartt is now fashionable,
- 1:08:16right With young people. Yeah.
- 1:08:19It's, I think it's like hipstery, you know, that's all.
- 1:08:23Yeah. I wonder if the data like that
- 1:08:26swady type, but there's a rumour going around in Formula One
- 1:08:32right now that Gucci are coming in with the Alpine team.
- 1:08:37So it would be Gucci Alpine 2027 and I just, you know, what are
- 1:08:45the driver's suits look like? What does the, you know, the
- 1:08:48race team look like? What does their luggage?
- 1:08:53In a word, fantastic, but but. But they're missing an
- 1:08:56opportunity. They were very famously was the
- 1:08:58Gucci Cadillac collab of 1984 or whatever that was right with the
- 1:09:02Seville, you know, I mean, Cadillac, you know, F1 team, I
- 1:09:06mean, you know, and that artwork wouldn't be AI generated.
- 1:09:10No, but the Gucci Alpine team, everything is Gucci in that
- 1:09:14team. Like if it happens, you heard it
- 1:09:18here first. If it doesn't, we'll deny ever
- 1:09:20saying it. That's right, we never created
- 1:09:23it. Yeah.
- 1:09:25I love it. Well, I mean, so really that's
- 1:09:27the two car solution as you get one of the Gucci Alpine F1 cars
- 1:09:31and then a Ford car Hart and you've covered all your bases.
- 1:09:34You're winning at life, winning at life.
- 1:09:38Did anyone? Find oil.
- 1:09:40The new Swatch collaboration. Yeah.
- 1:09:42Oh, was it the one? It was pink, turquoise and
- 1:09:45yellow and. They've they've gone with a new
- 1:09:48brand, right? OK.
- 1:09:51And I think it's is it older RPK?
- 1:09:53Yeah, it's AP. Yeah, and they're pretty cool.
- 1:09:56They're pretty cool. They're not a wristwatch, they
- 1:09:59are a pocket watch. Well, you can pop them into a a
- 1:10:02a band. Can you?
- 1:10:04Because I looked on my website and there weren't any bands
- 1:10:06available at purchase at at. Interesting.
- 1:10:09OK, I have seen, maybe I maybe I've seen renderings, but I
- 1:10:14mean, that's one way to bring back the past.
- 1:10:17I know I'm like, I feel like this is aggressively throwback.
- 1:10:23When's that train coming in? The the steamy?
- 1:10:26That's that's that's, that's bold.
- 1:10:29Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:32I don't know. That's I I like the idea and I
- 1:10:35think it's fascinating that they're doing it.
- 1:10:36And I know that Swatch brand owns, you know, some of this,
- 1:10:41you know these. Brands they're collabing with.
- 1:10:44How do you pronounce it? Bloppon.
- 1:10:47Yeah, I believe so. That's the one I want.
- 1:10:49That's the one that would that does 50.
- 1:10:50Fathoms tribute and now hold them up Ek.
- 1:10:54I think Sheffield Watches should do a pocket watch.
- 1:10:57How classy would that be? Jay, if you're listening, we're
- 1:11:00happy to beat a test. That's true.
- 1:11:03I would rock a Sheffield pocket watch.
- 1:11:05That'd be that'd be amazing. Yeah.
- 1:11:08With some tweed. That's right, Sheffield's are
- 1:11:11showing up on at award ceremonies now.
- 1:11:14You saw the picture. Celebrities.
- 1:11:16Celebrities, Yeah, yeah. Which is, I don't know what
- 1:11:19ceremony that was or, or event, but, you know, they do this
- 1:11:22watch check. So it's like Rolex AP, you know,
- 1:11:26it's, it's, you know, it's all the the good stuff.
- 1:11:29I'm a watch guy and apparently I can only think of two brands.
- 1:11:31But then there was the comedian. What's his name?
- 1:11:35Fluffy. Oh, Gabriel Iglesias.
- 1:11:38Gabriel Iglesias had the Sheffield Jay Leno watch on,
- 1:11:42which was really cool to see. So yeah, Jay, you've hacked
- 1:11:47Hollywood. That's.
- 1:11:49Fluffy and the most of that car show, that's celebrities,
- 1:11:52they're just like, started. Here.
- 1:11:54Yeah, that's true. Well.
- 1:11:57Watch. Check.
- 1:11:58Yeah, I love that. One yeah screwed up tonight
- 1:12:03they've. Never.
- 1:12:04Seen me without a watch, so yeah, waiting on that pocket
- 1:12:07watch, guys. Yeah.
- 1:12:08Bring it on. What time is it Ryan, and when
- 1:12:12is the next train? And you have to start calling
- 1:12:15people doll and like speaking like they did in their. 20s
- 1:12:19yeah. Nice.
- 1:12:21I think we are probably at a show.
- 1:12:23On Yeah, we better. We better stop now.
- 1:12:25The wheels are coming off. So thank you everyone for
- 1:12:28listening. As Ryan said, please, please
- 1:12:30subscribe and ever however you do that it, it does mean a lot
- 1:12:34to us. And we'll be back next week with
- 1:12:37an interesting guest. That's right.
- 1:12:38That's right. Yeah.
- 1:12:40And on that note, remember always be driving.
- 1:12:44We're that car show and we'll see you next week.
