- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, guys, I need your advice.
- 0:02Speaker 2: It's One More Thing. I'm strong and getty more drama
- 0:11Speaker 2: in real life. What was the last time you took
- 0:14Speaker 2: over the One More Thing podcast? What was that one about?
- 0:17Speaker 2: Was that your healthier?
- 0:18Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:18Speaker 1: I was type two diabetes?
- 0:20Speaker 3: Right?
- 0:20Speaker 2: That was an interesting story. Unfortunate for you, obviously interesting.
- 0:25Speaker 2: How is that going by it? That's going very well?
- 0:26Speaker 1: Actually, No, I have a funny story about that. They
- 0:29Speaker 1: want to pump me fullard. They wanted to give me
- 0:31Speaker 1: a bunch of drugs, and I said, I will change
- 0:33Speaker 1: my diet, I will exercise. I've been doing all these things.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And one doctor said no, no, no, no, you you
- 0:38Speaker 1: got to be on these drugs for life. And I've
- 0:41Speaker 1: been able to do it without it pretty much, and
- 0:43Speaker 1: so I'm not going back to that doctor.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Two interesting things about that. One, I think the doctor's
- 0:49Speaker 2: recognizing reality that like ninety five percent of people don't
- 0:53Speaker 2: do anything about their diet. But two, the fact that
- 0:57Speaker 2: they would push the drugs on you rather than like
- 0:59Speaker 2: really push the diet part. Yeah, yeah, you know what part.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Of it has to do with And that reminds me
- 1:06Speaker 3: we got to get Craig the healthcare guru on next
- 1:09Speaker 3: week to talk about it several different healthcare related topics.
- 1:12Speaker 3: But I was just reading about the incredible pressure that
- 1:16Speaker 3: is on doctors now to see thirty seven patients in
- 1:18Speaker 3: a single day, and they are just pushed and pushed
- 1:21Speaker 3: and pushed by their corporate overlords. And so this doc,
- 1:24Speaker 3: I don't know, you're Doc Michael, and I'm just guessing,
- 1:26Speaker 3: but it could be he's thinking, I don't have time
- 1:30Speaker 3: for the You got to take care of yourself, and
- 1:33Speaker 3: here's how lecture. And then when you hem and haw
- 1:36Speaker 3: say all right, here's the other alternative, blah blah blah,
- 1:39Speaker 3: or why don't you come back and see me in
- 1:41Speaker 3: a week because you can't get an appointment for three
- 1:43Speaker 3: and a half months. So he just thinks, let's cut
- 1:45Speaker 3: to the chase. Take these pills, get now, get I
- 1:48Speaker 3: gotta go see thirty six more patients.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Well there's that. And then not to be the conspiracy guy,
- 1:53Speaker 2: but I mean, if you prescribe medicine, somebody's paying for
- 1:55Speaker 2: it and somebody's receiving money, so there's got to be
- 1:59Speaker 2: some incentives. So it might not be the doctor, but
- 2:01Speaker 2: there's got to be an incentive somewhere along the line
- 2:04Speaker 2: to have you taking drugs as opposed to eating better, right,
- 2:07Speaker 2: I mean, people make money if you don't eat better.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I was told that they have medical reps come by
- 2:11Speaker 1: all the time. Oh yeah, promoting drugs.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Yeah, well, and big Pharma allegedly. And I don't know
- 2:17Speaker 3: whether this motivates people a little or a lot. We'll
- 2:20Speaker 3: have a four day conference on how Zunetra can help
- 2:25Speaker 3: your patients. It's in Maui. It's at the fourth Seasons.
- 2:29Speaker 3: There's a twenty five minute meeting each morning where you
- 2:32Speaker 3: talk about Zunetra. Then you're free for the rest of
- 2:34Speaker 3: the day expenses paid. Well.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't talked about this in years, but I
- 2:38Speaker 2: used to be friends with somebody who was a pharmaceutical
- 2:40Speaker 2: rep and just lived two houses down for me, and
- 2:44Speaker 2: so she would book these really expensive dinners at the
- 2:48Speaker 2: most expensive place in down but if they didn't have
- 2:50Speaker 2: all the seats filled, they were gonna get paid for anyway.
- 2:53Speaker 2: She'd say, Hey, I got two extra seats. So we
- 2:55Speaker 2: would go and eat the meals and hang around. And
- 2:57Speaker 2: sometimes I'd have to like kind of pretend I was
- 2:59Speaker 2: a doctor or something like that. If somebody asked me
- 3:01Speaker 2: a question but they were getting wined and dined at
- 3:04Speaker 2: the most expensive place in town with the open bar
- 3:07Speaker 2: and everything like that. To tell them about some drug
- 3:10Speaker 2: and there'd be a five minute slideshow about the drugs
- 3:12Speaker 2: and then you get like a three hundred dollars meal
- 3:13Speaker 2: for free.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Oh I'd make hay with that opportunity. Man, I turn
- 3:17Speaker 3: on my left and say, what do you prefer? Viruses
- 3:19Speaker 3: or bacteria?
- 3:22Speaker 4: Oh my god, to be at the same table with
- 3:24Speaker 4: you two pretending to be doctors.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I know.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I was always dreading if somebody actually asked me a fractures.
- 3:31Speaker 2: There's something, aren't they. I don't know what I would say.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Oh, I tell you what.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I hate to see it, but you gotta deal
- 3:36Speaker 2: with it. Im are wrong, So I told him, don't
- 3:39Speaker 2: do that anyway. Let's wait for the stake to show up.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Oh the other thing there? I knew there were there
- 3:45Speaker 2: were Actually there was another thing. Now I've forgotten it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I'm Joe Biden, like man, I do notice when I
- 3:49Speaker 2: don't get enough sleep that I can't remember near as
- 3:53Speaker 2: well my sessenes. Now my sentences in the middle, and
- 3:57Speaker 2: I can't finish. I can't remember the end the oh,
- 4:00Speaker 2: the direct relationship between eating better and your body changing
- 4:04Speaker 2: or getting better numbers. Even though that's obviously clearly true,
- 4:08Speaker 2: I'm always still somewhat surprised, like I eat really good
- 4:11Speaker 2: and look I'm a couple of pounds lighter, or the opposite,
- 4:14Speaker 2: I eat really bad and I'm a couple of pounds
- 4:15Speaker 2: every year. It's just, even though I know it's true,
- 4:18Speaker 2: to see it like in black and white in front
- 4:21Speaker 2: of me is always just a little something.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like the old I feel better after a
- 4:28Speaker 3: drink or two the next morning than I did after
- 4:31Speaker 3: the night I had seven. I'll be damned, I've only
- 4:34Speaker 3: learned that lesson five million times. Right.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Anyway, what's your tail today, Michael?
- 4:39Speaker 1: Okay, So here we go. I yesterday had to get
- 4:42Speaker 1: my teeth cleaned. And I have a very good dental
- 4:44Speaker 1: hygienis who I've had for years. She's really gentle, she
- 4:47Speaker 1: does teeth well, she no hurt, no pain, nice. So
- 4:51Speaker 1: I show up the dentist yesterday and it turns out
- 4:53Speaker 1: she's not there's and I had to know this. She goes,
- 4:56Speaker 1: we have somebody else though, that'll take you. And so
- 4:59Speaker 1: I get this per and let me put it this way.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I'm still tasting blood today from them scraping my.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Brune Hilda the cruel.
- 5:08Speaker 1: No.
- 5:08Speaker 2: No, nobody in this scenario speaks English. And it was
- 5:10Speaker 2: in a garage and Rio Linda correct, No, no, no,
- 5:13Speaker 2: actual dental practice.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Actual dental practice, good place. But I don't know if
- 5:17Speaker 1: this was a new employee or what the deal was,
- 5:20Speaker 1: but uh.
- 5:21Speaker 2: She was really rough.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You know. You put the tube in to suck the
- 5:24Speaker 1: water out, and she was just jamming it down there.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Wow, physical reaction.
- 5:32Speaker 2: This was crazy. When did she leaves?
- 5:35Speaker 1: I don't know. And then I guess she got behind
- 5:37Speaker 1: on our schedule, and so the doctor had come to
- 5:39Speaker 1: her and said, said, you know, is he almost done?
- 5:42Speaker 1: She goes, well, it's gonna be a few minutes, just
- 5:44Speaker 1: a few minutes. And then all of a sudden, she
- 5:45Speaker 1: starts putting the polish on my teeth and rubbing as
- 5:48Speaker 1: fast as she can, starts grabs the water and just
- 5:51Speaker 1: starts squirting my mouth. You know, just it's just crazy.
- 5:55Speaker 2: So wow, that's terrible. So like a car wash, yeah, literally, So.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Just we're running out of time. So you picked up
- 6:04Speaker 3: the poker and you stabbed her with it, and you
- 6:06Speaker 3: wonder what were you in the right.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Somebody that doesn't like conflicts. So I just held on
- 6:10Speaker 1: for dear life and I just put up with it,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and I'm fine, but I'm debating do I called him
- 6:16Speaker 1: and let them know, Hey, this person was really rough.
- 6:19Speaker 1: This is terrible because I got to go back there
- 6:21Speaker 1: in a few months and.
- 6:22Speaker 2: It was really painful. Well, you asked two questions. The
- 6:25Speaker 2: first one I've had before where it's like the last
- 6:30Speaker 2: person's better at this, but I don't want to make
- 6:32Speaker 2: another appointment. I need to get this done now, and
- 6:35Speaker 2: so it's not just conflict avoid and it's like the
- 6:38Speaker 2: reality of trying to get the person you like better.
- 6:41Speaker 2: So that's that's one thing. But then the complain, Hell,
- 6:44Speaker 2: he is, I'm complaining.
- 6:46Speaker 3: You know.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It was funny is during the whole procedure though, she goes,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I know you're just laying there. She goes, I take
- 6:51Speaker 1: that as a compliment. It means that I'm not hurting you.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And I'm thinking, is this a common thing? Are people
- 6:56Speaker 1: saying to her?
- 6:58Speaker 2: You'll scream? She thinks everything's going fine.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Yes, that's a really weird thing. She said, that's so odd.
- 7:07Speaker 4: I would definitely call Michael and maybe just say something
- 7:11Speaker 4: along the lines of could I not be with this
- 7:14Speaker 4: individual next time because that was a little uncomfortable.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Yeah, but I would go ahead and say why it
- 7:19Speaker 3: was extremely uncomfortable. It was the most painful cleaning I've
- 7:24Speaker 3: ever had. Say that.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's perfectly reasonable to say. It's like when
- 7:28Speaker 2: I used to talk about my man Pong, the phlebotomist
- 7:30Speaker 2: who'd draw blood from me. I would always call and
- 7:33Speaker 2: see if Pong was there because he could do it
- 7:34Speaker 2: where you didn't feel a thing. And I love Pong,
- 7:36Speaker 2: but he quit and uh, and other people aren't as good.
- 7:42Speaker 2: But I've never had anybody jab me in the side
- 7:45Speaker 2: of the year with the needle and say sorry about that.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I just want her to look at me next time
- 7:49Speaker 1: I go and say, oh, you're the one that called.
- 7:51Speaker 1: You're the one that got me in trouble, or something
- 7:53Speaker 1: like that.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, my Brian, don't think it would go like that.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I told the story years ago when my brother went
- 8:00Speaker 2: into the hospital is here and here in the local area,
- 8:04Speaker 2: and man, the president of the hospital, ended up meeting
- 8:07Speaker 2: me in the parking lot. After I told this story
- 8:09Speaker 2: on the air, they were so worried but anyway, they
- 8:11Speaker 2: were trying to put an IV in my brother and
- 8:14Speaker 2: the guy just kept having to do it over and
- 8:17Speaker 2: over and over again and jab him over and over again.
- 8:19Speaker 2: And my brother is incredibly stoic as a military dude
- 8:22Speaker 2: and all that sort of stuff. It's part of his
- 8:24Speaker 2: whole personality that he would never ever act like anything
- 8:27Speaker 2: hurt underneath circumstance. But they really guy was it. And
- 8:30Speaker 2: the guy actually says to him, I'm sorry. Man. I
- 8:32Speaker 2: was at the casinos really late last night and just
- 8:35Speaker 2: kept jo oh, and I was like, dude, you gotta
- 8:39Speaker 2: tell him. Nah.
- 8:41Speaker 4: The only time I've ever had someone miss I love.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah, good for you.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Oh yeah, she missed three times and I went three
- 8:52Speaker 4: strikes and you're out.
- 8:52Speaker 2: You're done.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I'm not doing this again. And I walked out, made
- 8:55Speaker 4: another appointment. This was before it took eight months to
- 8:57Speaker 4: get your blood drawn though.
- 8:58Speaker 2: But yeah, wow wow.
- 9:04Speaker 3: It's interesting because getting back to the whole doctors more
- 9:08Speaker 3: than dentists. But it's just in my lifetime, the whole
- 9:12Speaker 3: doctor patient relationship has evolved from I know you for
- 9:16Speaker 3: years and years. You're like my partner in health. There's
- 9:19Speaker 3: a great deal of respect for you. There's concern for me. Now,
- 9:23Speaker 3: it's more like getting a burger out of a fast
- 9:25Speaker 3: food joint. To some extent, I've got a great doc
- 9:28Speaker 3: right now too. I've had a couple that were terrible,
- 9:32Speaker 3: that were just thinking, well, it was like eating a
- 9:33Speaker 3: burger from a fast food joint. So I don't you know, Michael,
- 9:36Speaker 3: I would. I would remember, you're a customer who's paying
- 9:39Speaker 3: a great deal for a service, and there are other
- 9:42Speaker 3: service providers and dentists are skilled people and they're caring
- 9:47Speaker 3: and the rest of it. But they're not They're not gods,
- 9:49Speaker 3: they're not priests.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I don't think this would be a bad way to
- 9:52Speaker 2: handle you say, this is the deal I make with everybody.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Whatever you do to me, I'm gonna do to you.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Just keep that in mind.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that's an idea.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I brought my tools, and so you know you might
- 10:01Speaker 2: own You think that'll be.
- 10:03Speaker 1: You show up with your own tool.
- 10:07Speaker 3: And you say, I'm gonna give as much pain as
- 10:10Speaker 3: I get. Always get started.
- 10:12Speaker 2: If it's to you, exactly, it's because of your remove.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Ball is in your court. If I feel nothing, you
- 10:19Speaker 2: feel nothing, That's what I'll do.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I'll walk up to the receptionist, scrape your teeth a
- 10:23Speaker 1: little bit and say does that hurt?
- 10:25Speaker 2: Well, guess what. That's what she did to me. Bought
- 10:27Speaker 2: your hose, spray her with it right in the face.
- 10:31Speaker 2: How do you like it?
- 10:32Speaker 3: Eh?
- 10:33Speaker 2: Okay, hold still, lady, you're gonna feel a little pressure. Wow.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Well thanks, guys, I guess that's it.
