- 0:00Speaker 1: I want to talk about one of my favorite segments
- 0:02Speaker 1: on this show, the five things that I need to
- 0:04Speaker 1: see from the Gators. And Will, I want you to
- 0:07Speaker 1: weigh in on each one of these. I think usually
- 0:09Speaker 1: I go five, four, but this first one is the
- 0:11Speaker 1: thing that if I could only pick one, I would
- 0:14Speaker 1: go with. And that is that I need to see
- 0:17Speaker 1: if we can get off the field on third down, period.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Biggest thing I need to see. If you are looking
- 0:23Speaker 1: for something from week one that could become a legitimate
- 0:26Speaker 1: problem once Florida gets into SEC play, I feel like
- 0:29Speaker 1: that's it. FAU went 11 of 22 on third down.
- 0:32Speaker 1: That is 50%. And then FAU converted another four fourth downs.
- 0:37Speaker 1: You talked about how those were super close, and they were,
- 0:40Speaker 1: but they converted them. You can't continually give offenses extra
- 0:45Speaker 1: possessions and extra opportunities. Obviously, it didn't hurt Florida against FAU.
- 0:50Speaker 1: And if it happened against Campbell, it's probably not going
- 0:52Speaker 1: to hurt Florida against Campbell because this offense has been
- 0:56Speaker 1: ridiculously efficient. But you aren't going to score 66 points
- 1:00Speaker 1: every Saturday. There are going to be SEC games where
- 1:03Speaker 1: Florida scores, you know, maybe 24 points or 27 points.
- 1:07Speaker 1: And when that happens, this defense has to get off
- 1:10Speaker 1: the field.
- 1:11Speaker 2: That goes hand-in-hand, too, I think, with the defensive line.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And what we kind of wish we had seen from
- 1:14Speaker 2: them against the Owls, because if it's third and eight,
- 1:17Speaker 2: that pass rush goes a long way in determining if
- 1:19Speaker 2: that is even remotely getting converted or not. So, I mean,
- 1:21Speaker 2: I definitely agree with you, Red, because just giving up
- 1:24Speaker 2: third down after third down on one drive, just demoralizing
- 1:26Speaker 2: to the entire team, it can totally stunt the momentum
- 1:29Speaker 2: that this offense will probably be generating a good bit of.
- 1:31Speaker 2: But if the defense can't get off the field, you
- 1:33Speaker 2: lose a lot of that. So, that's definitely a big
- 1:35Speaker 2: thing to watch.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I kind of have a benchmark that I wrote down,
- 1:37Speaker 1: and that's that I'd love to see Campbell under 30%
- 1:41Speaker 1: on third down. I think that would tell me that
- 1:43Speaker 1: Florida addressed the problem. And obviously more than a percentage,
- 1:47Speaker 1: I want to see a defense that looks like it
- 1:49Speaker 1: knows exactly how it wants to attack third down. They
- 1:53Speaker 1: talked a lot this week, the coaching staff, about situational awareness,
- 1:57Speaker 1: and they felt like last game kind of exposed that
- 2:00Speaker 1: maybe some players were not as far along with their
- 2:03Speaker 1: situational awareness as this coaching staff had thought that they were. So,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know, Florida goes to Auburn next third downs and
- 2:09Speaker 1: Jordan hair are all completely different beast. And you can't
- 2:13Speaker 1: let Auburn string together 12 play drives because you couldn't
- 2:17Speaker 1: get off the field on third down. And I do
- 2:20Speaker 1: think Campbell gives one more opportunity to fix that before
- 2:25Speaker 1: it becomes a bigger problem.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, this is kind of that chance where, I mean,
- 2:30Speaker 2: because I'm not sure, against SEC teams, we see Florida
- 2:33Speaker 2: go like, you know, only 25% on third down. So
- 2:36Speaker 2: I think that benchmark for this game is definitely very
- 2:37Speaker 2: important because it's just really hard to reach. So being
- 2:40Speaker 2: able to do it against an inferior opponent where you
- 2:42Speaker 2: have the talent, the big-time talent advantage, like this is
- 2:45Speaker 2: the time where there really aren't an excuse for it, right?
- 2:47Speaker 2: Because you don't have a former five-star playing quarterback. You
- 2:51Speaker 2: don't have this freak show of a tight end who
- 2:53Speaker 2: you just like can't cover all the time. You have
- 2:54Speaker 2: the talent advantage. You have the better players. Go out
- 2:57Speaker 2: there and shut them down when you need to.
- 2:59Speaker 1: My number two is that I need to see more pressure.
- 3:01Speaker 1: And listen, I know Florida forced turnovers against FAU, and
- 3:05Speaker 1: I think that's great. And I understand that the scheme
- 3:08Speaker 1: that FAU ran, you're just getting the ball out so
- 3:11Speaker 1: fast that that sometimes makes it a little bit more
- 3:13Speaker 1: difficult for that pressure to get there. But I need
- 3:16Speaker 1: the quarterback. I want the quarterback. to feel Florida's defensive
- 3:19Speaker 1: front more consistently. Out of those 53 passing attempts that
- 3:23Speaker 1: FAU had, Florida only had two sacks. And for me,
- 3:27Speaker 1: that's not enough disruption. And I get it. I can
- 3:30Speaker 1: picture Steve Harris in my comments. I get that sacks
- 3:33Speaker 1: are not everything. A good pass rush isn't measured exclusively
- 3:38Speaker 1: by how many times the quarterback hits the ground. But
- 3:41Speaker 1: I want to see pressures and hits. I want to
- 3:42Speaker 1: see forced throws. I want to see that pocket collapse some.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I want to see If Sixkiller, is that it? Sixkiller? Sixkiller, yeah.
- 3:53Speaker 1: What a wild name. I'm still not over it. I
- 3:56Speaker 1: want to see him having to speed up his internal clock.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And I want to see defensive linemen winning one-on-one battles
- 4:05Speaker 1: and edge players forcing the quarterback to kind of step up.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And I want to see interior pressure that makes Sixkiller uncomfortable.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, great name. I hope he has a horrible name.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I hope he has the worst day of his life.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I hope he doesn't want to go back out in
- 4:20Speaker 2: the field in the second half. That's the kind of
- 4:22Speaker 2: day that this defensive line showing us would give so
- 4:26Speaker 2: much confidence going into league play. Because, you know, you
- 4:28Speaker 2: talk about the turnovers. Forcing turnovers is definitely a skill,
- 4:30Speaker 2: especially interceptions. It is so much harder to be sustainably
- 4:34Speaker 2: a good defense because you're picking people off in the
- 4:36Speaker 2: red zone versus you're lighting up their quarterback. It is
- 4:38Speaker 2: much more feasible that you can sustain a good pass
- 4:40Speaker 2: rush as opposed to a bend-don't-break when you're inside of
- 4:43Speaker 2: your own 30. So being able to cause that havoc
- 4:46Speaker 2: up front, especially from the middle of the D-line, if
- 4:48Speaker 2: we can see those D-tackles really get a push and
- 4:51Speaker 2: sort of penetrate the pocket that way, that would go
- 4:53Speaker 2: a long way for me in this spot. So the
- 4:54Speaker 2: pass rush is definitely what I'm looking at the most,
- 4:56Speaker 2: probably on defense, yeah.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And I do think Sixkiller can move. So pressure him
- 5:00Speaker 1: without losing contain. And I think that that is kind
- 5:03Speaker 1: of an important distinction here. If Florida comes screaming off
- 5:07Speaker 1: the edge and Sixkiller steps outside and runs for 15,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you didn't win that. Rush, but with discipline, collapse the pocket,
- 5:15Speaker 1: keep him contained, make him throw from uncomfortable positions. And
- 5:20Speaker 1: you know what I also would like, and I know
- 5:22Speaker 1: this is asking a lot, I want turnovers too. You know,
- 5:24Speaker 1: he threw three against Western Carolina. So I do think
- 5:28Speaker 1: that the opportunities will be there. If he makes bad decisions,
- 5:31Speaker 1: Florida needs to punish him for that. I want to
- 5:35Speaker 1: see this secondary hunting the football.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Back to what you said about keeping contained, like
- 5:40Speaker 2: we mentioned how the secondary situational awareness maybe wasn't all
- 5:43Speaker 2: that strong. That is the D-line's version of that. It's
- 5:46Speaker 2: do you not just, you know, like a bull seeing red,
- 5:49Speaker 2: I want the quarterback. Are you able to do that
- 5:51Speaker 2: while staying smart and knowing that he will beat you
- 5:53Speaker 2: on the outside? Being able to see better execution as
- 5:56Speaker 2: well as a really high IQ from those edge guys
- 5:58Speaker 2: in the D-tackles, that'd be really encouraging.
- 6:01Speaker 1: So number three for me is that I want to
- 6:02Speaker 1: see another sharp performance from Philo. I think that his
- 6:06Speaker 1: first start was really encouraging. I want to see it again.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I want to see it consistently. One good game is exciting.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I think Gator fans left and they were like, damn,
- 6:15Speaker 1: see why he won the job. Maybe he's a little
- 6:16Speaker 1: bit better than we thought he was going to be.
- 6:17Speaker 1: But two starts where you look comfortable. Now you're establishing
- 6:21Speaker 1: a little bit of a trend or a pattern. I
- 6:24Speaker 1: don't care, however, if he throws for 400 yards. Actually,
- 6:28Speaker 1: I kind of hope he doesn't because ideally he's not
- 6:31Speaker 1: playing long enough to throw for 400 yards. But I
- 6:34Speaker 1: do want to see if he is efficient. Like, can
- 6:37Speaker 1: he go– 15 of 19 for like, let's say 250
- 6:41Speaker 1: yards and three touchdowns and no turnovers. And then he
- 6:44Speaker 1: goes and takes the headset off and, you know, sits
- 6:47Speaker 1: down and becomes a cheerleader for, for Tramiel Jones. Like that,
- 6:51Speaker 1: that is the kind of performance I want to see.
- 6:54Speaker 1: All right. Well, it is time to play our favorite
- 6:57Speaker 1: game more or less. And this is brought to you
- 7:00Speaker 1: by prize picks. So they don't have, um, prop bets
- 7:05Speaker 1: on here right now about Florida's game, which generally happens
- 7:08Speaker 1: if you're playing a very overmatched opponent. So we're going
- 7:11Speaker 1: to go with some of the biggest games of the weekend. First,
- 7:15Speaker 1: we got your boy on there, John Mateer, more or
- 7:19Speaker 1: less than one and a half passing touchdowns. Don't forget
- 7:23Speaker 1: guys at home, Oklahoma is playing Michigan.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I might say less on that one. I think that
- 7:28Speaker 2: Oklahoma-Michigan game could be a rock fight. I really think
- 7:30Speaker 2: that both those defenses are really strong. It was very
- 7:33Speaker 2: low scoring last year, so it wouldn't shock me if
- 7:36Speaker 2: he gets one. It might even be his fault. He
- 7:38Speaker 2: could just throw a slant to Satania on their own 15,
- 7:40Speaker 2: and all of a sudden, boom, touchdown. I think that'll
- 7:42Speaker 2: be low scoring. I think the ground game for Oklahoma,
- 7:44Speaker 2: it's a big-time prove-it game for those running backs and
- 7:47Speaker 2: for material with his legs. So I'll go less there
- 7:50Speaker 2: because I think it's going to be really a rock fight.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Okay, let's talk a little bit about the Ohio State-Texas game.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Bo Jackson, more or less than 57.5 rushing yards.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I think that'll be more. I think Ohio State's really
- 8:03Speaker 2: going to put an emphasis on moving the ball on
- 8:05Speaker 2: the ground. Obviously, their receiver room is stupid, but we
- 8:08Speaker 2: talked actually on a big episode of SEC Football about
- 8:10Speaker 2: how Texas has done a good job with Jeremiah Smith
- 8:13Speaker 2: specifically in the past. So if they're able to do
- 8:14Speaker 2: that again, is Julian saying, right, does he need that
- 8:19Speaker 2: security blanket of Bo Jackson. I think Legend Bank can
- 8:21Speaker 2: have a great game for them too on the ground.
- 8:22Speaker 2: But for Bo, I'll say more because I think that
- 8:25Speaker 2: it'll be very featured of a ground game there for
- 8:27Speaker 2: Ohio State.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Okay, what about receiving yards for Jeremiah Smith? More or
- 8:32Speaker 1: less than 81.5?
- 8:34Speaker 2: I feel like I have to go less based on
- 8:36Speaker 2: what I just said. I mean, he's got, I think
- 8:37Speaker 2: he's like something in the 40s over the last two games. Now,
- 8:40Speaker 2: could he do that in three grabs? He could, but
- 8:42Speaker 2: I'll say less because I'll trust Texas. I'll trust what
- 8:44Speaker 2: they've done to him in the past. I think they've
- 8:46Speaker 2: added a little mushroom to the staff some of the
- 8:48Speaker 2: portal ads, it's only made that passing defense better. So
- 8:50Speaker 2: I'll go less.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Okay. Ryan Wingo, more or less than 53.5 receiving yards.
- 8:59Speaker 2: I'll say more for Wingo. This feels like a game
- 9:01Speaker 2: where he pops one, you know, way deep over the
- 9:03Speaker 2: middle of the field in like the third quarter, right?
- 9:05Speaker 2: Because Cam Coleman will get a lot of attention and
- 9:07Speaker 2: rightfully so. I got like Emmitt Moseley when he was
- 9:09Speaker 2: on the field, he will get a lot of attention.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Wingo is just kind of the guy who's sitting there
- 9:12Speaker 2: in the receiver room like, dude, I was the first
- 9:14Speaker 2: one here. You know, I was also the five-star here
- 9:16Speaker 2: that Texas fans couldn't stop drooling over. So I wore more.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I think he'd have a big game here. And it
- 9:20Speaker 2: might only, you know, you can only take him like
- 9:22Speaker 2: one or two catches because he is that explosive downfield.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Okay. Arch Manning, more or less than 247 and a
- 9:28Speaker 1: half passing yards.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I'll say more because I'm a little, I had a
- 9:33Speaker 2: couple of questions about Texas being able to run the
- 9:35Speaker 2: ball consistently last week. Ohio State's front, not many people
- 9:39Speaker 2: know this, is actually much better than Texas State's. So
- 9:42Speaker 2: if that running game doesn't really take that step forward,
- 9:44Speaker 2: I do think that a lot of it will be
- 9:46Speaker 2: on Arch, and this might be his prove-it moment. This
- 9:49Speaker 2: is kind of the spot where Arch is going to
- 9:51Speaker 2: be like, alright dude, you're at home, best team in
- 9:53Speaker 2: the country, on your turf, you're a favorite against them,
- 9:55Speaker 2: go show us what you can do. I'll go more
- 9:57Speaker 2: for Arch.
- 9:58Speaker 1: If not now, when? All right. Malachi Toney, more or
- 10:02Speaker 1: less than 109 and a half receiving yards. Again, Miami
- 10:06Speaker 1: is playing FAMU tomorrow night.
- 10:08Speaker 2: That is such a stupid number for a more or less.
- 10:10Speaker 1: That is so high.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I'll say more, though, because I actually wrote this yesterday.
- 10:14Speaker 2: FAMU is on three days of rest. They played their
- 10:16Speaker 2: last game on Sunday, and now they go to Miami
- 10:19Speaker 2: to play on Thursday. So you're already way overmatched. We
- 10:23Speaker 2: know that there's probably a bit of a Heisman agenda
- 10:26Speaker 2: for both Mensah and Malakatoni at this point in Miami,
- 10:28Speaker 2: so they want to give them those numbers. And you're
- 10:30Speaker 2: playing on three days of rest. I think Miami can
- 10:32Speaker 2: do whatever they want. So even though that number is
- 10:34Speaker 2: crazy high, I'll go more.
- 10:36Speaker 1: All right, well, I've gotten them all written down over here.
- 10:39Speaker 1: We're going to save these until next week so we
- 10:42Speaker 1: can see how we did, but I appreciate you playing
- 10:44Speaker 1: more or less.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I love how comfortable he looked last week. Even
- 10:47Speaker 2: though he was playing against FAU, it wasn't a high-caliber opponent,
- 10:50Speaker 2: being in that situation for your first, not his first start,
- 10:53Speaker 2: but as a true quarterback one at a school like
- 10:56Speaker 2: Florida in that atmosphere, that moment, even though you're at
- 10:59Speaker 2: home against a weak team, can get to a lot
- 11:01Speaker 2: of guys, and it didn't. He looked so calm. He
- 11:03Speaker 2: was having fun. He hit that three-six on the deep
- 11:05Speaker 2: ball that TJ Abrams. Just having that calmness, that coolness
- 11:09Speaker 2: about you, and really that swagger for a second straight week.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Like you said, you established that pattern. You showed that
- 11:13Speaker 2: it wasn't just week one adrenaline, and you can really
- 11:15Speaker 2: trust Philo to go lead the Gators into SEC play.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to see decision-making, pocket presence, accuracy, timing,
- 11:23Speaker 1: third down, ball security. And I want this offense to
- 11:26Speaker 1: stay aggressive. I personally don't want to see run, run, run.
- 11:32Speaker 1: screen run, like that's because it's Campbell. Let Philo play quarterback,
- 11:37Speaker 1: push the football vertically, work the entire offense. Because again,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you are preparing for Auburn. So you want to use
- 11:46Speaker 1: these reps, right? Definitely.
- 11:48Speaker 2: We talked about all the yards of a catch last week.
- 11:50Speaker 2: It was great. And it showed the explosiveness of those receivers.
- 11:53Speaker 2: But it's definitely a better idea to start testing your
- 11:56Speaker 2: vertical passing concepts this week than it's going to be
- 11:59Speaker 2: in Jordan Hare when you can't hear yourself think. So
- 12:01Speaker 2: being able to mix all that in, you know, without
- 12:03Speaker 2: obviously becoming air raid, pass heavy, losing your identity, but just,
- 12:06Speaker 2: you know, when you want to call your third receiver
- 12:08Speaker 2: screen of the day, send right on deep.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Right?
- 12:11Speaker 2: Send down on the vertical. We just kind of want
- 12:12Speaker 2: to see that mixed in so you know that Philo
- 12:14Speaker 2: can do it, and he knows that he can do
- 12:16Speaker 2: it in a real 11-on-11 full game setting before you
- 12:18Speaker 2: hit the road next week.
- 12:19Speaker 1: We've got a few comments before I move on to
- 12:21Speaker 1: number four. Anthony wants us to pitch a shutout. Me too, bud.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Michael Dixon, no one is used to a fast-paced offense,
- 12:29Speaker 1: so defense is going to have six sacks and three picks.
- 12:32Speaker 1: One of them will be a pick six. GMFG. And
- 12:35Speaker 1: then Gio wants to know, think we can cover the spread.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I do, even though it is a really large spread. 49.5
- 12:42Speaker 1: is a large spread. I think Buster loves the idea
- 12:46Speaker 1: of scoring a shit ton of points, and I think
- 12:48Speaker 1: Summerall does too. And it feels like he basically told
- 12:52Speaker 1: us at his press conference that he's not down to
- 12:54Speaker 1: put guys in that are not going to get to
- 12:56Speaker 1: play often and then tell them not to score. So
- 12:59Speaker 1: I do actually think they will do their best. I
- 13:01Speaker 1: also think they're in this– they understand– what Florida fans
- 13:05Speaker 1: are looking for. Like if this staff does the best thing,
- 13:08Speaker 1: this staff does that they do nothing else. Well, it's
- 13:10Speaker 1: that they understand what makes this fan base tick and
- 13:12Speaker 1: they like kind of cater to that. I think so. They,
- 13:15Speaker 1: they scored 66 points cause they knew we loved 66 points.
- 13:19Speaker 1: And that makes me think that we'll see a lot
- 13:20Speaker 1: of points this week as well, but it may depend
- 13:24Speaker 1: some on how long starters are in there for. Um,
- 13:28Speaker 1: I also want to make sure chili Willie says, smash
- 13:30Speaker 1: the like button and show some love guys. Listen, This
- 13:33Speaker 1: channel has grown so much over the last couple of months.
- 13:36Speaker 1: If you are watching this live and you are not subscribed,
- 13:38Speaker 1: do me a favor and hit that subscribe button right now.
- 13:40Speaker 1: It takes two seconds. It's totally free. Definitely helps out
- 13:43Speaker 1: the channel. Okay, my number four is that I need
- 13:48Speaker 1: to see us dominate both lines of scrimmage. And, you know,
- 13:52Speaker 1: against Campbell, Florida should look physically different. And I don't
- 13:57Speaker 1: mean that in a disrespectful way to Campbell, but that
- 14:00Speaker 1: is reality. This is an SEC roster game. against an
- 14:03Speaker 1: FCS roster. And I need that disparity to be so
- 14:08Speaker 1: glaringly obvious. And, you know, Campbell held Western Kentucky to
- 14:12Speaker 1: one rushing yard, and I think that's impressive. Florida should
- 14:15Speaker 1: look at that statistic as a challenge. I want to
- 14:18Speaker 1: see Florida line up and say, we are running the football.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Stop us. And not because it's the only way to
- 14:24Speaker 1: beat Campbell. Florida could probably throw all night, never run
- 14:27Speaker 1: the ball with Jaden Ball, and they are still going
- 14:28Speaker 1: to crush Campbell. But because Florida needs to know If
- 14:32Speaker 1: it can move people when everybody in the entire stadium
- 14:36Speaker 1: knows we are running the ball and we need that
- 14:38Speaker 1: answer before we go into Auburn. So, you know, things
- 14:42Speaker 1: like short yardage, can Florida convert third and one without
- 14:46Speaker 1: getting cute goal line? Like can Florida get movement inside zone?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Are D tackles getting pushed backwards? Outside runs, are the
- 14:54Speaker 1: tackles and the tight end sealing edges, pass protection, like
- 14:57Speaker 1: is Philo comfortable in the pocket? I need to see
- 15:00Speaker 1: all of that. And then on the other side of
- 15:02Speaker 1: the ball, basically same thing. I don't want Campbell consistently
- 15:05Speaker 1: getting four or five yards on first down. Win first down.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Create second and nine. Create third and eight. Get off
- 15:12Speaker 1: the field. Turn the pass rush loose. We've talked so
- 15:17Speaker 1: much tonight, and Will, you and I have talked on
- 15:19Speaker 1: this channel for weeks about this, that Auburn is going
- 15:22Speaker 1: to be Florida's first real test physically. But I want
- 15:26Speaker 1: them to leave this game believing that their offense and
- 15:30Speaker 1: defensive fronts are ready for SEC football.
- 15:35Speaker 2: For the offensive line, being able to go from In
- 15:38Speaker 2: the spring, you're coached publicly saying, that room is not
- 15:40Speaker 2: good enough right now. To then in the fall, talking
- 15:43Speaker 2: about how they've gotten bigger, they've gotten stronger, we've got
- 15:45Speaker 2: to see how it goes. And then in week two,
- 15:47Speaker 2: I don't care who it is, you can look at
- 15:48Speaker 2: that unit and be like, we are going to dominate you.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I'm going to push you into the ground. Look, we're
- 15:52Speaker 2: running to the left. Come get them. You can't do it.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Just that's going to be a massive confidence boost for
- 15:57Speaker 2: the team, but also for those five guys. Knowing that
- 16:00Speaker 2: it's hard coaching, but just knowing that you were kind
- 16:03Speaker 2: of the concern of that team initially. being able to
- 16:05Speaker 2: take that in stride, not pout about it, but say,
- 16:07Speaker 2: all right, I'm going to go do something about this
- 16:08Speaker 2: and then put dudes in the dirt, that's going to
- 16:11Speaker 2: be a big confidence boost.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. And I think that they have the
- 16:15Speaker 1: ability to do this. I did an offensive line breakdown
- 16:19Speaker 1: earlier in the week with Landon Tegwall, who played for
- 16:22Speaker 1: Phil Troutwine. And I was so impressed with Landon's breakdown
- 16:27Speaker 1: and listening to him tell me, like, okay, well, in
- 16:30Speaker 1: the meeting room, this is exactly how Coach Trout is
- 16:32Speaker 1: going to address this issue or this issue. But he
- 16:35Speaker 1: ranks offensive lines. He watches pretty much every major power
- 16:39Speaker 1: four team across the country. And then he ranks offensive
- 16:41Speaker 1: lines each week. He ranked Florida second in the country.
- 16:45Speaker 1: And I was like, but FAU. And he was like, no,
- 16:48Speaker 1: this is a technique-based ranking. It doesn't matter who the
- 16:51Speaker 1: opponent is because your technique should be the same either way.
- 16:54Speaker 1: And Iowa was one, which he's like, good luck on
- 16:56Speaker 1: seeding Iowa, essentially like that's in the corn, but I
- 17:00Speaker 1: thought that was so interesting. And I walked away so
- 17:03Speaker 1: encouraged because being technically sound is basically like the key to,
- 17:08Speaker 1: to all of this. I feel like, um, okay. So
- 17:11Speaker 1: my number five, I think like this probably goes without saying,
- 17:15Speaker 1: but is to put the game away early and develop
- 17:17Speaker 1: your roster. Like, I think that's actually probably the goal
- 17:21Speaker 1: of Saturday other than, you know, get out healthy, but, uh,
- 17:25Speaker 1: We don't want this starting lineup playing deep into the
- 17:28Speaker 1: fourth quarter. I don't want them playing deep into the
- 17:29Speaker 1: third quarter. I want this game over early. Can it
- 17:32Speaker 1: be 21-0 first quarter, 35-7 halftime, or 38-7, or something
- 17:37Speaker 1: like that? And honestly, the points don't matter. I don't
- 17:40Speaker 1: care about style points in this. I want Florida to
- 17:43Speaker 1: get control of the game. And then you can move
- 17:46Speaker 1: on to your secondary goal. You know you're handling the winning,
- 17:49Speaker 1: but then it becomes about developing. Get Philo out. If
- 17:53Speaker 1: he plays well and Florida has a big lead, great.
- 17:56Speaker 1: You're done. You're protected. Get out. Get Jaden Ball out.
- 18:01Speaker 1: He doesn't need to be carrying the ball when Florida's
- 18:03Speaker 1: up by five touchdowns. I want to see young guys
- 18:06Speaker 1: actually play. I want to let Tramell Jones run the offense.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I want to see him throw and make checks and
- 18:12Speaker 1: Run third down plays. I want to see young receivers.
- 18:15Speaker 1: You know, we have such a talented wide receiver room.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Sit them all. Let young receivers get meaningful targets. Let
- 18:22Speaker 1: backup offensive linemen protect in obvious pass situations. Let young
- 18:27Speaker 1: DBs cover. Let young defensive linemen rush the quarterback. Because
- 18:32Speaker 1: once SEC play starts, these opportunities become so much harder
- 18:36Speaker 1: to find. And inevitably, during a football season, somebody gets hurt.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Somebody else has to play. you're going to need one
- 18:43Speaker 1: of these guys eventually. And Saturday might be your last
- 18:46Speaker 1: chance to prepare him before you're forced to play him.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I love watching Jaden Ball run the football. I wish
- 18:53Speaker 2: I could do it 20 times a day. He does
- 18:55Speaker 2: not need to have 14 carries again this week like
- 18:58Speaker 2: I did last week.
- 18:58Speaker 1: He can take it.
- 18:59Speaker 2: He's very durable. But, you know, as you go into
- 19:01Speaker 2: this stretch of 10 straight power four opponents, you're going
- 19:04Speaker 2: to want to have those five less carries that you
- 19:06Speaker 2: could have given them against Campbell when you're in Austin
- 19:09Speaker 2: or when you're in Atlanta playing against Georgia. So, Just
- 19:11Speaker 2: kind of echoing what you said, being able to get
- 19:12Speaker 2: those guys out after having productive days is very important.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And for the offensive line too, you talked about the
- 19:17Speaker 2: technique of those front five guys to get in those
- 19:20Speaker 2: depth pieces and then being able to put on film
- 19:22Speaker 2: for them and for Trotwine so that they can really
- 19:24Speaker 2: address the depth of it. Because if a tackle goes
- 19:27Speaker 2: down or if Harrison Moore gets hurt, you've got to
- 19:30Speaker 2: know that you have somebody back there who not only
- 19:32Speaker 2: you can trust, but who you've already been able to
- 19:34Speaker 2: see develop and have a chance to really coach up
- 19:36Speaker 2: in another game setting. Those reps, like you said, are
- 19:38Speaker 2: just so valuable early on in the year. when, I
- 19:41Speaker 2: don't want to say consequence-free, but it's pretty much consequence-free
- 19:43Speaker 2: here in this week, to be able to get those
- 19:45Speaker 2: guys extra run.
