- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode of Long
- 0:14Speaker 2: Story Short the podcast I'm Megan, I'm Wendy, and today
- 0:18Speaker 2: we are discussing Roadhouse Romance, the first in six movies
- 0:22Speaker 2: of Hallmark's.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Fall Harvest series. Wendy Yow. Do you have a synopsis? No,
- 0:29Speaker 1: I don't. I don't have my computer in front of you. Okay,
- 0:33Speaker 1: are you ready? Roadhouse Romance Country music fan Calli is
- 0:38Speaker 1: determined to continue her late grandfather's legacy. That's a terrible
- 0:44Speaker 1: synopsis of this movie. Hmm right, I'm gonna pull up
- 0:49Speaker 1: IMDb because they're gonna have a different one that I'm
- 0:52Speaker 1: sure is going to be more satisfactory. Here we go.
- 0:56Speaker 1: When Calli returns home, she finds her hometown has changed,
- 1:00Speaker 1: her first love has a new girl, and her family's
- 1:03Speaker 1: barbecue restaurant has hit hard times. She clashes with a
- 1:07Speaker 1: marooned big shot director who might hold the key to
- 1:10Speaker 1: saving the restaurant. What a different synopsis compared to the
- 1:14Speaker 1: other one.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Okay, let's hop into news and notes about Roadhouse roomman
- 1:22Speaker 2: and I got a lot of them. Oh okay, why
- 1:24Speaker 2: don't you hop right in?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Well? Filmed in Vancouver, as we know, Naturally was supposed
- 1:29Speaker 1: to take place in Tennessee. Yeah, I never said Nashville,
- 1:33Speaker 1: but it did mention Franklin in the movie, which I've
- 1:38Speaker 1: been to actually as as my husband he wants to
- 1:41Speaker 1: move there. It says cute town. It is cute town.
- 1:45Speaker 1: It's a really cute town.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Of course, it stars Tyler Hines. You know, we love
- 1:49Speaker 2: Tyler Hines easily top three. He's my number one. I
- 1:53Speaker 2: think Hallmark guy, but we love him.
- 1:56Speaker 1: His hair is still a seventh wonder of the world
- 1:58Speaker 1: for me. I really don't understand just I need to
- 2:01Speaker 1: get up and close and personal with it and run
- 2:03Speaker 1: my fingers through it. I just need to see. It's
- 2:06Speaker 1: got a lot of like Eddie Munster vibes to me,
- 2:10Speaker 1: has a strong hairline, right. But Zim I was, I mean,
- 2:14Speaker 1: you should have saw me. I was trying to like
- 2:15Speaker 1: zoom in on the TV, like I'm trying. It looked
- 2:19Speaker 1: like it was almost like powder filled. I think that's
- 2:22Speaker 1: his hair.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I think that's his hair because that's how it always
- 2:26Speaker 2: looks ID be a real commitment to that. I think
- 2:28Speaker 2: that's his hair. But you know who powdered his hair
- 2:30Speaker 2: sprayed on his hair is John Cryer in Two and
- 2:35Speaker 2: a Half Men, he really sprayed his hair on.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah, oh well, I mean whatever. I mean, I do
- 2:42Speaker 1: that too, but I just think it's so unusual to
- 2:48Speaker 1: me and looks real good at the same time, so
- 2:50Speaker 1: I don't I don't know.
- 2:52Speaker 2: He's stars alongside Laura and Elena, and we discussed this
- 2:55Speaker 2: in previous episodes. But she is an American Idol alum.
- 2:59Speaker 2: She was a run her up on Scotty McCreery's season.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I did not watch that season, but watching this movie, man,
- 3:06Speaker 2: I think she should have won.
- 3:08Speaker 1: She's got a voice, She's got a great voice. That
- 3:10Speaker 1: was the tenth season of Idol. She also competed on
- 3:14Speaker 1: season twenty eight of Dancing with the Stars. I watch
- 3:17Speaker 1: that show. I don't remember.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I have not watched a season of Dancing with the
- 3:22Speaker 2: Stars ever. No, but not recently. Brian Austin Green is
- 3:27Speaker 2: gonna be on it. It's coming season.
- 3:29Speaker 1: It's such a good season coming up. I'm definitely watching.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I can't recall if they have announced who the partners are,
- 3:37Speaker 1: like Who's Paired up With? I think that they might
- 3:39Speaker 1: actually do that. On the premiere episode of Who's Partnered
- 3:44Speaker 1: With whom. But Brian Austin Green is on it this
- 3:48Speaker 1: season and we all know him as David Silver from
- 3:50Speaker 1: nine Outoy. Now, well, his real life girlfriend is Sharna,
- 3:54Speaker 1: who is one of the dancers from Dancing with the Stars,
- 3:56Speaker 1: And it would be who me to think that they
- 4:00Speaker 1: them are paired together, right, Yeah, because because of COVID protocols,
- 4:04Speaker 1: they are not like couples who are actual real life
- 4:08Speaker 1: let's say, like dancing couples. If they're married, they can't
- 4:12Speaker 1: be together for the six weeks that they compete. Oh wow, Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 1: so it's interesting that Sharna and Marian would be together. Anyway.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I'm excited for the season because I'm such a nine
- 4:25Speaker 1: to two and zero homer.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I know I've seen the lineup and I cannot think
- 4:30Speaker 2: of a single other person, But I do know that
- 4:32Speaker 2: I remember thinking it was a good lineup, and there's
- 4:34Speaker 2: lots of actual dancers Jojo Siwah, yes of them who
- 4:39Speaker 2: will be dancing with the same sex partner, which.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Is very cool.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yeah, there was some blowback because they were like, uh
- 4:46Speaker 2: Jojo Sewah of Dance Moms, Like, she's an actual she's a.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Dancer, dancer with dance training.
- 4:53Speaker 2: The show is not an actual competition, it's a pr
- 4:57Speaker 2: event for.
- 4:58Speaker 1: This Livia Jade. Yes, So I'm okay with Jojo Siwatt.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And just because she has dance ability doesn't necessarily mean
- 5:06Speaker 2: she's going to be a great ballroom dancer.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I agree because if you recall Erica Jane, people were
- 5:11Speaker 1: super excited when she was going to be on him because,
- 5:13Speaker 1: you know, Pat the puss whatever nonsense, pretty mess she
- 5:17Speaker 1: was in that. They thought she was a dancer, and
- 5:20Speaker 1: she is not a ballroom dancer.
- 5:23Speaker 2: So I loved this anecdote from Laura and Alena, who
- 5:27Speaker 2: really did this movie as kind of a tribute to
- 5:30Speaker 2: her family. She says, when she goes home from the holidays,
- 5:33Speaker 2: she visits her cousin and her aunt and they lay
- 5:35Speaker 2: in bed and watch Hallmark movies together, and she.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Was able to share this movie with them. I like
- 5:40Speaker 1: it when these.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Actors have a personal connection to the Hallmark movie and they're.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Excited to be there. It's not like a they're not
- 5:49Speaker 1: lowering themselves to be in a Hallmark movie. They're excited,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, they're excited to be there. Right now. I
- 5:54Speaker 1: think I read it was her first Hallmark movie. Yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 1: she was in another movie called road Less Traveled, But
- 6:01Speaker 1: and I assumed that was a Hallmark movie. But then
- 6:03Speaker 1: I had read that this was her first. Well, listen
- 6:05Speaker 1: to this note. This is one that you probably are
- 6:09Speaker 1: not familiar with. But the actress who played Willa. Willa
- 6:14Speaker 1: was the aunt ye the brunette. She was played by
- 6:18Speaker 1: Sarah Edmondson. Now I knew I recognized her when I watched,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I was like, where do I know her face from?
- 6:24Speaker 1: Is she in another movie that I saw this year?
- 6:26Speaker 1: And I where? Can't place her? Can't place her? No,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I saw a ton of her somewhere. She was a
- 6:34Speaker 1: major player in the documentary that blew open the MLM
- 6:39Speaker 1: cult Nexium.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Oh, I haven't seen that. There are two of them though,
- 6:44Speaker 2: aren't there?
- 6:45Speaker 1: There are two of them, but she is a front
- 6:48Speaker 1: and center in one of them, and it's called the
- 6:50Speaker 1: Vow And that was the one that was on HBO. Oh,
- 6:53Speaker 1: I might need to watch that.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a reenactment that she is in or was
- 6:58Speaker 2: she in the cult?
- 6:59Speaker 1: She was in the cult? Oh? And her husband both Oh,
- 7:02Speaker 1: I need to watch this now. Yeah, And it was
- 7:05Speaker 1: It's it's very in depth. It's how many did I owe? Nine?
- 7:09Speaker 1: Episode series. Yeah, it's it's a lot. So that's where
- 7:13Speaker 1: I recognized her from. She is an interest an actress
- 7:16Speaker 1: who got involved in that Nexium cult anyway, yeah, who
- 7:22Speaker 1: is now out of it.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Another fun note about Laura and Alena is that her
- 7:27Speaker 2: father was an Army veteran, so she plays a soldier.
- 7:30Speaker 2: She's a lieutenant in the army, and so for her
- 7:33Speaker 2: it was this movie came out on the twentieth anniversary
- 7:35Speaker 2: of nine to eleven. Her father was an Army vet
- 7:37Speaker 2: And then she said, I called my dad the day
- 7:39Speaker 2: I put the uniform on and he cried like a
- 7:40Speaker 2: baby on FaceTime. And then she says, well, he cried
- 7:44Speaker 2: and then he said fix your hat. So that's a
- 7:46Speaker 2: quote from Southern Living dot com, which I like that.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I like that tie in and I think that was fun.
- 7:53Speaker 2: What was your first impression of this movie. I really
- 7:57Speaker 2: liked this movie. I thought this was a great kickoff couple.
- 8:03Speaker 2: You know, Look, I love Tyler Hines. I loved Laura Elena.
- 8:07Speaker 1: She could not be cuter.
- 8:08Speaker 2: She needs to be a Christmas headliner in my opinion.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I liked the fall vibes.
- 8:16Speaker 2: And you know, my husband is finally watching now now
- 8:19Speaker 2: that it's fall. He's watching with me, so it made
- 8:21Speaker 2: the experience watching more fun. But man, this was a
- 8:24Speaker 2: win for me.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I agree. I thought it was a solid start to
- 8:27Speaker 1: the Fall Harvest. Yeah, loved it. Well, I didn't. I
- 8:32Speaker 1: didn't love it ten out of ten. I liked it
- 8:35Speaker 1: a lot.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, So what did you like about it? Okay,
- 8:38Speaker 2: look at the notes here, man, I'm in full page here.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I really enjoyed Lauren Elena as an actress. I liked
- 8:47Speaker 2: her laid back southern way. I thought it felt very
- 8:53Speaker 2: authentic and it was just a really nice, like juxtaposition
- 8:59Speaker 2: compared to you Luke's girlfriend Jillian, who was like this,
- 9:03Speaker 2: like high strong Hollywood actress. Yeah, so yeah, I like that.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I liked it a lot. I loved her. She honestly
- 9:10Speaker 2: could not be cutter. I I loved her relationship with
- 9:15Speaker 2: her mom and her aunt. That felt really real to me.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I liked how you know, her mom and her aunt
- 9:20Speaker 2: like antagonized each other a little bit, but there was
- 9:23Speaker 2: a lot of love there.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I liked the incorporation of the singing me too, and
- 9:30Speaker 1: sometimes I fast forward through that.
- 9:32Speaker 2: But not like in a movie. Sometimes they're not this
- 9:36Speaker 2: movie not in this movie. But sometimes if they're singing
- 9:38Speaker 2: in a movie, I'm not really like, I don't really
- 9:39Speaker 2: want to. I'm not here for that. I watched all
- 9:42Speaker 2: of it. I thought her voice was great. I loved
- 9:45Speaker 2: the Alison Krause song at the end.
- 9:47Speaker 1: You say it best my favorite songs ever? Yes, so,
- 9:52Speaker 1: and they did. They didn't drag the songs on too long.
- 9:54Speaker 2: It wasn't like a time filler. It moved the story forward.
- 9:59Speaker 2: And she she can actually sing, although I don't think
- 10:02Speaker 2: she was actually.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Singing in all of those scenes, like it's pre recorded.
- 10:05Speaker 1: But I didn't watch that closely.
- 10:07Speaker 2: But I am glad that she got to sing. But
- 10:12Speaker 2: it wasn't like her singing was her only contribution to
- 10:15Speaker 2: this movie.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I thought she was a great actress. I had read
- 10:18Speaker 1: that she got to sing two of her own songs
- 10:21Speaker 1: in this movie. She didn't write them for the movie,
- 10:24Speaker 1: but she got to sing two of her own songs.
- 10:26Speaker 1: She sings three times, she sings, she sings the Alison
- 10:30Speaker 1: Krause song, and then the other two must be hers.
- 10:33Speaker 1: And there's one point where like the lady, the actress
- 10:37Speaker 1: who played her mom is like singing along, and I
- 10:39Speaker 1: was like, that's real cute. Like I didn't know at
- 10:42Speaker 1: that point that that that was one of Laura and
- 10:44Speaker 1: Elena's songs. But did that lady like learn the song
- 10:48Speaker 1: or know of the song already well? And they probably
- 10:50Speaker 1: had to play it several times to get the take
- 10:52Speaker 1: and true, I think it was the run song. It
- 10:56Speaker 1: was called Run. Maybe I think it was the first
- 10:58Speaker 1: one she sang. Yeah, maybe she learned it ahead of time.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But it was funny. I was like, here she is
- 11:02Speaker 1: behind the bar, now come on up and sing, and like,
- 11:05Speaker 1: you know, I like that. I loved the music and
- 11:09Speaker 1: the singing. I loved the Fall festival vibes of everything.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I have been saying it for weeks that I was like,
- 11:16Speaker 1: I need a Fall festival in my own neighborhood. I
- 11:20Speaker 1: would love totally like a barbecue place and have like
- 11:24Speaker 1: I mean, that's the stuff you get in Nashville anyways,
- 11:26Speaker 1: Like you go out to eat and there's musicians playing there.
- 11:29Speaker 1: You know, why can't I have that here in Orange County?
- 11:32Speaker 1: I would like it too. I would like it too.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I spy some diversity. Well, they were side players. Joe
- 11:41Speaker 1: the boyfriend, yeah, Jillian the girlfriend and the car guy
- 11:45Speaker 1: the mechanic. Uh huh. I don't know his name, but
- 11:49Speaker 1: this is a fine line. I'm gonna walk here. Yeah,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and I'm trying to say it in the most appropriate words.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Laurena Lena did not fit this stereotypical Hallmark attress mold.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I agree, and I loved it. Me too, me too.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I was like, there is someone who looks like me,
- 12:07Speaker 1: and I'm here for it.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah. We've talked about this before that Hallmark has been
- 12:11Speaker 2: taking the babiest of baby steps into diversity in their movies,
- 12:15Speaker 2: but we've also talked about how diversity doesn't just come
- 12:18Speaker 2: in skin color, Like, yes, we want actresses and actors
- 12:21Speaker 2: of color in these movies, but there's body diversity, there's
- 12:24Speaker 2: lifestyle diversity, and so yes, again, I feel like this
- 12:28Speaker 2: is all real baby steps into body diversity. But I
- 12:32Speaker 2: liked it honestly, Like I love her. She could not
- 12:37Speaker 2: have been cute or this entire movie. I was like,
- 12:39Speaker 2: I so enjoy watching her in this movie.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Me too. Every time, like every scene she was in
- 12:45Speaker 1: she was just like smiling, and I was like, I
- 12:47Speaker 1: feel like she like loves what she's doing right now,
- 12:50Speaker 1: like she's felt so enjoying it. Yeah, Yes, totally. I agree, totally.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I really liked the story in terms that Hallie was
- 13:00Speaker 1: returning from deployment. It was such a nice change from
- 13:03Speaker 1: like a man coming home, you know, and like, I
- 13:06Speaker 1: don't know if I've ever seen it in a Hallmark movie,
- 13:09Speaker 1: like where a woman comes home from deployment. Yeah, And
- 13:13Speaker 1: I just really enjoyed that.
- 13:16Speaker 2: And I liked how they very lightly touched upon how
- 13:22Speaker 2: life goes on when you're gone and how jarring it
- 13:25Speaker 2: can be to come back, right and you haven't been
- 13:28Speaker 2: a part of it. You knew what was going on,
- 13:31Speaker 2: but to come back and kind of assimilate into life.
- 13:35Speaker 2: It's obviously tougher than a lost barbecue sauce recipe for
- 13:40Speaker 2: real soldiers.
- 13:41Speaker 1: But I did get.
- 13:42Speaker 2: That feeling when she's talking to her mom in her room,
- 13:45Speaker 2: She's like, I know I was gone, but the reality
- 13:47Speaker 2: that I was gone and that two years have passed
- 13:50Speaker 2: is just hitting me. We have a neighbor who's currently
- 13:55Speaker 2: deployed and granted not for two years, but you know,
- 13:58Speaker 2: I think about that, what it must be like to
- 14:00Speaker 2: leave and sacrifice so much of your life and to
- 14:06Speaker 2: then come back, How hard that must.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Be, right right, Here's another thing I really liked. I
- 14:12Speaker 1: liked that Callie and Luke were strangers. They didn't have
- 14:17Speaker 1: any kind of weird backstory, they didn't date in a
- 14:20Speaker 1: previous life, like two strangers meeting for the very first time,
- 14:25Speaker 1: and we were watching their relationship unfold. Yeah, that's what
- 14:30Speaker 1: I liked about this movie. H And I also really
- 14:34Speaker 1: loved the dialogue. Whoever wrote this movie had some really
- 14:38Speaker 1: funny wit about them. I feel like Tyler.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Hynes's movies get those because he can handle it, like
- 14:45Speaker 2: he's got that like real easy comedy, not like slapstick.
- 14:49Speaker 2: He can just deliver a line in a way that
- 14:51Speaker 2: I find entertaining. And I thought she was great too,
- 14:54Speaker 2: me too, Like her banter was great. She was believable.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I believed her as Callie. Absolutely agree.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Agree? Are you ready for? What did you wish for? Yes?
- 15:04Speaker 1: I am. May I start with an email.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Sure, we have an email from Michelle who says I
- 15:09Speaker 2: love watching anything with Tyler Hines, but please, Hallmark, you've
- 15:13Speaker 2: got to do better than cheesy, high school level green screens.
- 15:16Speaker 2: It was painful to watch the car scenes.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, yes, I have that in my digit
- 15:21Speaker 1: see that moment.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Yeah, this was filmed in the spring, so obviously we
- 15:28Speaker 2: don't have fall foliage outside the window. So my question
- 15:31Speaker 2: is in the spring, these places still would have been green,
- 15:34Speaker 2: because they do a couple shots of them just the car,
- 15:37Speaker 2: like a quick and they're outside and it's beautiful and green,
- 15:40Speaker 2: but you don't get the changing of the leaves. Would
- 15:42Speaker 2: you have preferred real shots of them driving through green
- 15:46Speaker 2: areas that don't have the changing of the leaves or
- 15:50Speaker 2: this attempt to stay true to the actual season with
- 15:54Speaker 2: the green screen colors.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I don't need to be hit over the head with
- 16:00Speaker 1: fall foliage, yeah, because it's distracting. Right when they were driving,
- 16:05Speaker 1: that's all I saw. The same was like a blur
- 16:08Speaker 1: of red and orange. I have no idea what they
- 16:10Speaker 1: talked about in the car. I remember the terrible production
- 16:13Speaker 1: whenever they drove was awful.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yeah, And even when they walk down to that grove
- 16:18Speaker 2: of trees, that's a green screen.
- 16:21Speaker 1: The absolute terrible fall foliage.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Am I saying that foliage? You and my husband both
- 16:26Speaker 2: say foliage foliage? After Luke and Kelly stop.
- 16:30Speaker 1: It was awful. And there's when they do the up
- 16:33Speaker 1: close shot.
- 16:33Speaker 2: You can tell is that my husband's like they put
- 16:35Speaker 2: like one little orange tree in the background and the
- 16:38Speaker 2: rest of it like it was, it was rough stuff there.
- 16:41Speaker 1: That was bad. That was bad. So thank you Michelle
- 16:45Speaker 1: for Yeah.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I think those driving scenes really could have done without it,
- 16:49Speaker 2: because they do a good job. The town is decked out,
- 16:53Speaker 2: the bar is decked out, the mechanic shop is decked out.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I think we could have just it would have been okay, yeah, right,
- 17:02Speaker 1: What did you wish for a slightly quicker pace to
- 17:06Speaker 1: the story? I thought it unfolded a little too slowly
- 17:09Speaker 1: for me. At first it was about like the barbecue sauce,
- 17:13Speaker 1: and then it was about like the car breaking down
- 17:16Speaker 1: or there whatever, and then about the recipe, and then
- 17:20Speaker 1: about Tucker's possibly going out of business. So it was like, yeah,
- 17:25Speaker 1: where are we going with this?
- 17:27Speaker 2: I don't find that the premise for Luke to stay
- 17:31Speaker 2: in town holds up because his car won't start, his
- 17:35Speaker 2: car needs a part. This is not like with Jingle
- 17:38Speaker 2: Bell Bride, where they're stuck someplace and they can't fly
- 17:41Speaker 2: out because at one point Jill drives there, so if
- 17:46Speaker 2: she can drive to him, he can.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Drive to her.
- 17:49Speaker 2: There are no Rendel cars in Tennessee. There are no Ubers. Uh.
- 17:54Speaker 2: He didn't need to stay because she makes the point like,
- 17:57Speaker 2: why didn't you just ship the car to California? These
- 17:59Speaker 2: are or people, you know, he goes to his beautiful
- 18:03Speaker 2: home with a pool. He clearly has the means to
- 18:06Speaker 2: make these things happen, so he didn't need to be
- 18:10Speaker 2: stuck in town. Could we have manufactured a better reason? Yeah,
- 18:13Speaker 2: for them to stay in town. I'm sure they could have,
- 18:16Speaker 2: like we're researching a show. Yeah, that would have been better, right, Yeah,
- 18:21Speaker 2: because why do you and your agent both need to
- 18:24Speaker 2: stick around waiting for this car to get fixed?
- 18:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't. Totally totally. I hated Joe the ex
- 18:30Speaker 1: boyfriend me too. I was like, you're a prick. But
- 18:35Speaker 1: that's by design, I know, because I yeah, because I understand.
- 18:40Speaker 1: But I was like, oh, you're so douchey, like this
- 18:43Speaker 1: douchey doctor, Like you're such a jerk. I hated him.
- 18:47Speaker 2: And we've seen movies where they have had exes get
- 18:51Speaker 2: back together and realize they're not right for each other
- 18:53Speaker 2: and they don't have to be douchey. But even when
- 18:56Speaker 2: they're realizing that it's not going well, and he's still
- 18:59Speaker 2: trying to and Cali against Luke Luke's making fun of us.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't like him either. I did not like
- 19:08Speaker 1: him either. I have read some reviews. Okay, there it's
- 19:17Speaker 1: polar opposites. People say, Tyler Hines and Laurena A Layne
- 19:23Speaker 1: I had tons of chemistry, and then on the other end,
- 19:25Speaker 1: people say, terrible chemistry. What do you think I do
- 19:29Speaker 1: wish there was more chemistry. Well that's something. I thought
- 19:32Speaker 1: they had great chemistry. I thought they had great banter.
- 19:35Speaker 1: And at one point I thought, are they gonna is
- 19:38Speaker 1: this gonna? Are they gonna end up just friends? Like? Oh?
- 19:41Speaker 1: I thought they have such a They had a flirtation
- 19:46Speaker 1: that you would see like in the workplace between two coworkers.
- 19:51Speaker 1: But do you think that's because she was you know,
- 19:54Speaker 1: he was in a relationship up until the last scene.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Well that's what I have down here. I wanted to
- 19:58Speaker 1: ask you what did you think about that, that he
- 20:01Speaker 1: had this girlfriend? How do you feel about that kind
- 20:05Speaker 1: of narrative of like he's connected with somebody, but then
- 20:08Speaker 1: here comes this other hot piece like what a you know?
- 20:13Speaker 1: Is that problematic?
- 20:14Speaker 2: So I am always against the like any sort of
- 20:19Speaker 2: even implied infidelity.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Do I think he would actually unfaithful.
- 20:26Speaker 2: No, do I think you should maybe feel bad for
- 20:30Speaker 2: obviously he clearly had feelings for Calli while he was
- 20:34Speaker 2: with Jillian. Yeah, I think that's complicated. So the answer is,
- 20:40Speaker 2: I do think it's problematic.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I do think it's now.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I didn't like Jillian. I wasn't rooting for her. I
- 20:51Speaker 2: knew from the very beginning they were not going to
- 20:54Speaker 2: end up together and they wanted different things. But I
- 20:58Speaker 2: don't love when one relationship develops, will another relationship.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Is still active. Well, to me, he didn't even seem
- 21:05Speaker 1: that into Jillian either. Yeah, Like he was like, here,
- 21:08Speaker 1: I bought you a brand new retro car. Cool car,
- 21:13Speaker 1: but I don't really like you.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and even like her first comment to him about
- 21:19Speaker 2: the car is like, why didn't you ship it? And
- 21:21Speaker 2: you can already tell like he's annoyed. They don't want
- 21:24Speaker 2: the same things, they don't live the same way. You know,
- 21:27Speaker 2: she wants him to do this Island Girl movie and
- 21:31Speaker 2: he thinks it's terrible, et cetera, et cetera. Right, all right,
- 21:34Speaker 2: what else did you wish for?
- 21:36Speaker 1: That's all I wished for time for. Did you see that?
- 21:40Speaker 2: Did you see Tyler Hines aggressively white earbuds.
- 21:44Speaker 1: No, I didn't even notice that these weren't earbuds.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Twice and they're telling me dude doesn't have a set
- 21:48Speaker 2: of AirPods on set because.
- 21:51Speaker 1: They're like, have a real thick white cord. They're very generic.
- 21:56Speaker 1: They were distracting. I didn't even notice that happens twice. Now,
- 22:00Speaker 1: did you happen to notice his glasses always hanging on
- 22:03Speaker 1: his shirt, Never on his face, never noticed, always on
- 22:06Speaker 1: his shirt, Like you know, he's like the director producer
- 22:08Speaker 1: guy who's always gotta take his glasses out to read
- 22:10Speaker 1: a script or something. Always hanging on his shirt. That's funny.
- 22:15Speaker 2: At one point, uh, when he has the car accident
- 22:20Speaker 2: with Cali, she's like, you came flying in here. And
- 22:22Speaker 2: then later on I believe it's the boyfriend who says like, oh,
- 22:27Speaker 2: you're the one who hit Cali, and he says hit
- 22:30Speaker 2: flying A lot of adjectives flying around here. Those are verbs, jackass.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Where is the continuity person on this production team?
- 22:48Speaker 2: Hello?
- 22:48Speaker 1: Writers? Those are verbs? There wouldn't there be somebody to
- 22:53Speaker 1: check that? I mean, that's hilarious. Okay. There was one
- 23:01Speaker 1: scene where the dog who was so cute and named
- 23:06Speaker 1: George Jones, which George Jones, but like I think the
- 23:11Speaker 1: dog pooped or something, and he brought in like a
- 23:13Speaker 1: bag of poop and gives it to Calie across the bar.
- 23:17Speaker 1: He's like, here, I have a gift from your dog.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And she's like thanks, and they're like talking and she's
- 23:23Speaker 1: like holding it on the bar right, and then he's like,
- 23:27Speaker 1: can I have a cup of coffee? She's like sure,
- 23:28Speaker 1: and then she goes and makes a cup of coffee,
- 23:30Speaker 1: like doesn't wash her hands. I was like, gross, gross.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Gross, uh No, dog's in the restaurant kitchen, please, and he.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Like jumps up and puts his paws on the stove.
- 23:42Speaker 1: That's very dangerous. That's gross. Yeah.
- 23:47Speaker 2: When Dan and Willa go on a hike, Dan wears
- 23:49Speaker 2: jeans and a tucked in shirt.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I mean that's what I would wear. So uncomfortable.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I mean they did set the scene that he's not
- 23:57Speaker 2: a hiker, so obviously he did not come with his joggers.
- 24:01Speaker 1: They were passing through, man, they were passing through. Yeah,
- 24:04Speaker 1: and the Dan and Willa like side story was not needed. No,
- 24:09Speaker 1: but I liked Dan. No. I thought he was Stan
- 24:13Speaker 1: or Dan, I wrote Dan okay I liked him. I
- 24:17Speaker 1: thought he was funny. I just they don't need that
- 24:20Speaker 1: random off topic side story of opening whatever. Like, I
- 24:24Speaker 1: don't know what did they talk about. Did they open
- 24:26Speaker 1: a bakery? What they were talking about opening some beacon?
- 24:30Speaker 2: I don't remember that at all. I just liked their relationship.
- 24:32Speaker 2: I don't remember that at all.
- 24:33Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 24:36Speaker 2: When Jillian is getting her surprise, she hands her phone
- 24:41Speaker 2: to Luke and she's like, shoot from above, and then
- 24:42Speaker 2: he's like three steps below and shooting up her.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I was like, way to take direction, Luke. Also, did
- 24:49Speaker 1: you notice that Jillian's movie was Fall Harvest? I did.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I thought that was so funny because it was on
- 24:56Speaker 1: her truck or whatever. Yeah, car ride. Yeah. I thought
- 25:00Speaker 1: that was kind of like a wink and a nod.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Yeah. And I also was like, is she starring in
- 25:05Speaker 2: one of the other Fall Harvests?
- 25:06Speaker 1: Oh? Wait, didn't that be hilarious? I looked, But she's not.
- 25:09Speaker 2: But oh bummer, yeah, bomber, that's oh my last did
- 25:16Speaker 2: you see? That is really just an issue with the movie,
- 25:19Speaker 2: and that is that a shoebox is a terrible place
- 25:21Speaker 2: to leave the one and only copy of your famous
- 25:22Speaker 2: barbecue sauce recipe.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Well that's where she'd find it, though, But how did he.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Know she was going to go back to her shoe
- 25:29Speaker 2: box of memories from her old boyfriend. I don't know
- 25:32Speaker 2: that could have laid dormant for years, for I would
- 25:34Speaker 2: have thrown that crap out eventually.
- 25:38Speaker 1: That was It was weird. There was a part where
- 25:42Speaker 1: they're like, oh, this is store bought barbecue sauce. But
- 25:47Speaker 1: then on the table they were putting bottled Tucker sauce,
- 25:52Speaker 1: and I was like super confused, Like they still have
- 25:56Speaker 1: bottles of the Tucker sauce, but when if you order
- 25:59Speaker 1: a meal, oh, that's not the sauce you're getting. I mean,
- 26:03Speaker 1: these are minutia details. That is minutia the right word.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I think you mean mi newt details. That's it. These
- 26:12Speaker 1: are stupid details that I noticed. But I just thought
- 26:18Speaker 1: the barbecue sauce storyline was weird. I hear you, all right.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Also, I don't believe you that in a restaurant nobody
- 26:26Speaker 2: ever knew the recipe. Give me a break, Grandpa made
- 26:28Speaker 2: this recipe for every Nope, no, all right, what would
- 26:34Speaker 2: you rate this movie?
- 26:36Speaker 1: I gave it three stars. I gave it three stars. Also,
- 26:39Speaker 1: I didn't think it was bad. I actually had started
- 26:46Speaker 1: it and kind of like got sucked into my phone
- 26:49Speaker 1: and then I was like, wait a minute, I kind
- 26:50Speaker 1: of like this, and so I started it from the
- 26:53Speaker 1: beginning to get I enjoyed it.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I can't get the Hallmark app to load for the
- 26:59Speaker 2: life to tell you what the name of the movie
- 27:01Speaker 2: is next week.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you right now. First of all, First
- 27:05Speaker 1: of all, did you notice the previews at all? No?
- 27:08Speaker 1: You didn't see any commercials, did you? I noticed Fernando
- 27:13Speaker 1: does not have any in the accent, not him, not him.
- 27:17Speaker 1: The next movie? Oh no, I didn't see previous for
- 27:19Speaker 1: the next. Hold on a second. It's Taking the Reins,
- 27:23Speaker 1: a writer discovers what ended her marriage and why she
- 27:26Speaker 1: stopped riding horses. But it premier. No, I'm sorry. It's
- 27:30Speaker 1: stars an actor named Scott Porter. Do you know who
- 27:33Speaker 1: that is? Friday Night Lights? Jason Street. Yeah, put some
- 27:41Speaker 1: hotties in a Hallmark movie. I'm all over it. Yeah,
- 27:44Speaker 1: I love him. I follow him on Instagram. He was
- 27:47Speaker 1: in that Georgia and I don't remember the name of it,
- 27:50Speaker 1: but it was on Netflix. Georgia, Ginny and Georgia, Ginny
- 27:53Speaker 1: and Georgia. I really liked him in that into It.
- 27:57Speaker 1: He was in that show that you liked, That's Helpful
- 28:01Speaker 1: Dixie something or other Dixie Heart of Dixie. Oh yeah,
- 28:07Speaker 1: he was in that show. I loved Heart of Dixie.
- 28:09Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I'm super excited. When the commercial came
- 28:12Speaker 1: on screen, I went, what.
- 28:16Speaker 2: If you're a Hallmark movie watcher, just as I know
- 28:18Speaker 2: you would love Heart of Dixie.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Great c W show.
- 28:22Speaker 2: I mean, like, if you're a prude Hallmark movie watcher
- 28:24Speaker 2: who thinks, like sometimes the kisses are too extreme, don't.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Watch it because it's like it's c W.
- 28:32Speaker 2: It's not you know, Cinemax, but it's more extreme than Hallmark.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Great show. I would rewatch the entire thing. Such a soothing,
- 28:40Speaker 1: nice show to watch. Okay, all right, guys, I'm all
- 28:44Speaker 1: in on Paul harvest Man. I'm excited. What is the
- 28:47Speaker 1: name of next week's movie? I'm sorry, sorry, Juan Pablo
- 28:51Speaker 1: at de Pace. It is called, uh, raise a Glass
- 28:58Speaker 1: to Love. And here we go again with the song
- 29:01Speaker 1: titles raise a Glass to Free? Are they just ripping
- 29:07Speaker 1: off names? What other movies song title did we have
- 29:10Speaker 1: on the wings? Yes, but that's not that's not what
- 29:15Speaker 1: it was called either. It was called on Journey of
- 29:19Speaker 1: My Heart, but originally tiled on the Wings of Eagles
- 29:25Speaker 1: or something like that.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Okay, sorry if you haven't listened till last week's episode.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Wendy gives a musical rendition of the song that.
- 29:35Speaker 1: She was reminded of.
- 29:36Speaker 2: So next week we'll have Hamilton, so stay tuned, guys.
