- 0:14Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 0:28It is time now for our our one on one with the pro and
- 0:34we have our guests in here from Bartlesmill Health and Rehab and lordy, I
- 0:40gotta tell you I love mondays. Uh, but we got our video all
- 0:44set ready to go here we were all happening. Cordell Ramsey and also Tammy
- 0:48Fowler with Bartlesmill Health and Rehab. Good morning to you, good morning.
- 0:53All right, there you go. We can hear you. It's uh,
- 0:55we've got something new, like a lot of things new, a lot of
- 0:58going on at Bartiswell Health and Rehab. Courtell go ahead, you're you're an
- 1:03you're the administrator. Now I'm the administrator and have been now for about two
- 1:07weeks. Find out where the bathrooms are now? Yes, yes, the
- 1:14irony is it was about twenty eight years ago to the day that I moved
- 1:19here to run this skilled nursing facility, and of course Alex has done a
- 1:25lot of remodel and things since then, so I did have to kind of
- 1:29find the bathrooms and but it's kind of like a full circle moment coming home
- 1:36and just absolutely love it. Excited to be back there now, Tammy,
- 1:40you're the director of nursing. Tell us a little bit about you. I
- 1:44am from Barnesville. I moved away from here in twenty fifteen and took off
- 1:49to do some critical care nursing in Tulsa and kind of traveled all over doing
- 1:57that and came back to Bartie to have a document notarized at Bartlesviil Care Center
- 2:05from my friend, and a week later I accepted the position. So Alex
- 2:09has kind of got that way about him, doesn't he. Yes, I've
- 2:13known Alex a long time. He's like, he's a good person, so
- 2:15I was excited to accept it. Now with Bartles Will Health and Rehab,
- 2:22you think about that a little bit. Okay, that's a nice name,
- 2:24but there are so many components. What's underneath this big old umbrella. That's
- 2:30a great point. So we have independent living apartments and those are great.
- 2:39We offer housekeeping, meal service, those types of things. And then we
- 2:45have long term care so people looking for extended stay. We also have rapid
- 2:52Recovery, which is our skilled nursing. So that's for short term after like
- 2:59after they go into the hospital and they need some follow up rehab and they
- 3:02may come in for five days or up to one hundred days basically just to
- 3:08get them back back in shape and get them back home. And we recently
- 3:14opened our well actually last week was the official opening of our memory care.
- 3:20Wow. And it's it's a locked, secure hall for those that have cognitive
- 3:27impairment that may need to be in a more secure environment. Sure so,
- 3:35but this is brand new, brand new, completely remodeled hall. It's amazing.
- 3:40I'm absolutely amazing. Now when we talk about rapid recovery, that's a
- 3:46that's kind of need too. Everybody wants to get well in a hurry.
- 3:49Yeah. Yeah, a lot of people want to they're looking forward to going
- 3:52back home, but they're not really ready to safely go back home. So
- 3:57we try to provide the therapy that they need and and speech and physical and
- 4:01occupational therapy to get them back to their baseline where they can go home and
- 4:06feel comfortable without having twenty four hour care anymore. And Bartles will Health and
- 4:13Rehab Community. We have so many different components. We actually have people who
- 4:15live on campus, don't we People who are residents. Oh yes, absolutely.
- 4:20Those apartments are fabulous. Yeah, the apartments, they're great, and
- 4:27there's a huge demand for those apartments, Well, there's a waiting list.
- 4:30Yeah, there's always a waiting list. And then the long term care environment,
- 4:35there's a lot of people that just can't make it in their homes any
- 4:40longer and really need to have their meds monitored and eat healthy three square meals
- 4:46a day and that type of thing, and a lot of people come in
- 4:49and just thrive and back to the rapid recovery that's typically covered by Medicare or
- 4:57your Medicare advantage plan. Rarely is there an out of pocket expense for that,
- 5:05so that that's something that a lot of people don't understand. That skilled
- 5:10nursing is typically covered so that there's very little cost, if any, My
- 5:15goodness sakes, it's going to be great to come back home in your case
- 5:17of tammy in this regard, but getting to know the clients, the patients,
- 5:26that's something else, because I understand it's it's kind of like a social
- 5:30thing here because everybody knows everybody and they get to know each other quickly,
- 5:34don't Yes, they do. They Even the residents that I've gotten to know
- 5:40in the three months or so I've been back, they are their own family.
- 5:45They create their own community, and they look out for each other,
- 5:47and they take it very seriously to look out for each other. It becomes
- 5:51kind of like neighborhood watch for some of them that are maybe a little bit
- 5:58better off as far as is their physical health and their mental health, and
- 6:01they look out for the ones that can't. So they constantly come find me
- 6:05and they say, hey, do you know mississ so and so need some
- 6:09help. They're on top of it if they they see it as this is
- 6:14our home, and that's how we try to see it too, is this
- 6:17is their home, and so we're not just coming to work every day,
- 6:20we're coming to their home. So that's how we try to treat them.
- 6:26My goodness, it's got to be not only a great feeling, but an
- 6:30awesome responsibility. Absolutely. But the thing is that it all starts with Alex,
- 6:35the owner, and you know, he's a local person. It's a
- 6:41family owned facility, and with that being family owned, me and Alex have
- 6:48been best friends for twenty eight years. Tammy's known Alex for years. I
- 6:54come in there and it's just it's such a family environment. I felt so
- 7:00I just felt like I came back home and uh, the staff, it's
- 7:05just such a tight knit family environment that you just can't can't hardly describe it.
- 7:12So community in Bartlesville help and rehab community community really is in capital letters,
- 7:18absolutely yes, and and you know it encompasses so many things under one
- 7:26umbrella. So depending on what that person's needs are, we have it all.
- 7:31We have it all. Yeah, Wow, residence centered. Whatever a
- 7:36person needs, whether it's short term, long term, independent memory issues,
- 7:43all of those things, it's all under one roof. And it's great.
- 7:47I understand. They've got a pretty neat, little outdoor facility when the weather's
- 7:50not you know, raining or tornadoing, that everybody likes to kind of gather
- 7:56around. They've they've started a vegetable garden and little planters and I think I
- 8:01saw some strawberries the other day that are that got planted, and yeah,
- 8:07some flower beds. And the residents love to go out there on a nice
- 8:11day and put their hands in the dirt and just feel productive that they're they're
- 8:16home again and they get to go out and they get to work out in
- 8:18their yards. So this kind of negates all those preconceived notions of getting care
- 8:24issue age exactly kind of destroys it all, doesn't it really new model?
- 8:31Yes, yes, And obviously there's people that can age in place in their
- 8:37home sure that they're there is such a need for a place like Bartlesville Help
- 8:45and Rehamber where you can get help. And and I just have seen so
- 8:50many success stories of people that were just struggling at home come in all of
- 8:54a sudden, they're eating, taking meds, getting cared for, and they're
- 9:00on cloud nine. And so everybody tends to think it's doom and loom.
- 9:05I don't. I don't look at it that way. There's so many success
- 9:07stories. Well, you know, you take the hasshole part out of living,
- 9:11my goodness aches and the next thing you know, you're living. Yeah,
- 9:15that's well said, that's exactly. And in the days that we have
- 9:20some music playing and we have people that come in and and perform and they
- 9:28it's like a rock concert some days in our facility. So yes, I
- 9:33understand, we get the some volunteer groups that come in and really entertain to
- 9:37the HILP. Absolutely yes, and and we plan to do much more of
- 9:43that. I know, the old dreaded c word covid uh kind of put
- 9:50a damper on a lot of that stuff. But we plan to really really
- 9:54boost that and involve the community as much as possible to come entertain and we
- 10:01love to have our cookouts, and we're talking about a petting zoo, and
- 10:05we like to bring the kids in and do as much inter genera generational stuff
- 10:09as we can. You know that that's a big learning thing. You know.
- 10:13First of all, the older folks, you know, they really enjoy
- 10:18watching the kids. They say, oh that's coote, but they learn a
- 10:20little bit at something about what's going on in their lives today. And of
- 10:24course the younger kids in return, they say, hey, you know,
- 10:28maybe getting older is not as scary as I thought it was going to be.
- 10:31These people are pretty cool rightly. Have employees that they'll bring their kids
- 10:35to work sometimes and you know they've they've clocked out and they've got somebody picking
- 10:41them up when we encourage them to bring their kids up through there and go
- 10:45visit people. I have some of my grandkids that I bring up and that
- 10:52was what my mom did for me when I was a little one is you
- 10:56know, take me to the nursing home. And I've never ever forgot that.
- 11:00I just you have sometimes it's good for us to teach our children how
- 11:05to interact with the people that need us in the future. And that's what
- 11:09they're they're needing to see. And the and the and the people love it.
- 11:13They just light up. They light up. Well, this is really
- 11:18cool, you know, if if folks want to learn a little bit more.
- 11:22Uh, you've got a great website. Yes, yes, I don't
- 11:26know the website. I believe it's Marginal healthhab dot com. It is.
- 11:31I'm still trying to find the bath. I'll try about that, But I
- 11:37understand you get a lot of traffic on your Facebook page because a lot of
- 11:39folks who have family members or are lovedlands of friends. Uh, you have
- 11:45barns Field Health and Rehab. Everybody gets caught up on what they need to
- 11:50know, right and what's going on. We post, you know, pictures
- 11:54of what's what activities that we had going on and some of the fun things
- 11:58that the rest sent to their families like to see it, you know,
- 12:01off of the internet. Now they don't have to be there twenty four hours
- 12:05a day to see what their loved one had going especially if they exactly I
- 12:11understand that Alex brings Cash the dog in there, right now and the residents
- 12:16just love cash. Yes, yes, and we actually have a staff member
- 12:22that brings her dog Buzz as well. Yes. So it's just it's home
- 12:28and that that's really what it boils down to. And those animals and all
- 12:35those things just make you feel out. Where can we find you just driving
- 12:39around town, folks want to pop in take a visit. It's located directly
- 12:45to the north of the hospital. Well you can't miss that for four Kentucky
- 12:48Place. Okay, well you can't miss that the hospital. It's kind of
- 12:52a good size to land right, yes, yes, and literally it's directly
- 12:56behind the hospital. There's that outpatient surgery Center's we take up that whole block
- 13:03back there. Mind wow and cool. Yeah. So so they can if
- 13:07they want to take a tour, just to give a call and shut one
- 13:11up or step back. Yeah, there's a doorbell that can ring, and
- 13:16they can just ask for somebody to show them around. And between Cordell or
- 13:22myself or even social services, we have somebody that can walk them around and
- 13:28show them, uh, you know, anything that they're interested in. Super
- 13:33and they can call to if there's any questions at all, they can call
- 13:37and it's nine one, eight, three, three, three, four or
- 13:39five. I want to thank you both for coming in in a couple of
- 13:43weeks. Hope to see you both. Thank you all right, folks,
- 13:46you've been listening to one on one with the pros. Thanks for listening to
