- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark of your podcast.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm Megan, and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm a former Hallmark hater. On today's episode, we are
- 0:19Speaker 1: discussing the series finale of The Way Home, season four,
- 0:23Speaker 1: episode ten Ahead by a Century, which originally aired on
- 0:27Speaker 1: Hallmark on Sunday, June twenty first, and is now streaming
- 0:31Speaker 1: on Hallmark Plus. Wendy. Before we get into this episode,
- 0:35Speaker 1: I want to ask you your overall feelings about the finale.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I felt satisfied. I did too, actually, especially when you
- 0:46Speaker 1: know the context around it that they had to rush
- 0:50Speaker 1: and adjust some storylines. Yeah, I think they honestly did
- 0:54Speaker 1: the best they could with some of these stories. I
- 0:57Speaker 1: think so too. I mean, I have some questions. Sure,
- 1:01Speaker 1: we'll go through the episode, and I have like, I
- 1:04Speaker 1: just need some clarification. I'm hoping you can give me
- 1:07Speaker 1: some clarification, or some listeners can give me some clarification
- 1:10Speaker 1: on some things, or maybe they're just going to be
- 1:13Speaker 1: open ended. Well, I think they intentionally left a couple
- 1:16Speaker 1: things open ended on the off chance that we do
- 1:19Speaker 1: get some sort of pick up. I don't see that
- 1:23Speaker 1: in my gut. I don't feel like that's a reality. Really.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I don't know anything about anything, as we've discussed many times,
- 1:29Speaker 1: but I think the big picture things were answered, but
- 1:34Speaker 1: there's enough of a question mark out there that makes
- 1:37Speaker 1: me wonder. You know. I got to tell you after
- 1:39Speaker 1: it was over, I was like, Okay, I feel satisfied,
- 1:42Speaker 1: and then like a few hours later, I was like, wait,
- 1:45Speaker 1: we never got any clarification on Sam and his damn coins. No,
- 1:50Speaker 1: we did not. The thing I thought like I had
- 1:53Speaker 1: figured out this season, which was nothing obviously was you know,
- 1:58Speaker 1: so thank Yeah, kind of bummed me out. Never saw
- 2:01Speaker 1: a horse again in this episode either, Nope, And we
- 2:04Speaker 1: don't get any information about Claire. Nothing about Claire either.
- 2:08Speaker 1: What about you? You felt good? I thought it was good.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I thought I thought this episode, well, I'll save it
- 2:17Speaker 1: for my first impression, but I, like you, was satisfied.
- 2:20Speaker 1: This episode had some strong emotional moments. I think you
- 2:25Speaker 1: can kind of see the elements that were like, we
- 2:28Speaker 1: got to get this in, we got to get this
- 2:30Speaker 1: moment in. But I think they did justice to the
- 2:33Speaker 1: show and overall I'm pleased. Wendy, what was your first
- 2:37Speaker 1: impression of the series finale of the Way Home. I
- 2:41Speaker 1: likened the series finale too and all you can eat buffet,
- 2:46Speaker 1: like they just put everything on the plate. Yeah, what
- 2:49Speaker 1: about you? My first impression is I would rewatch all
- 2:52Speaker 1: nine frustrating episodes of this season again to bring me
- 2:55Speaker 1: to this satisfying conclusion. Okay, so you do think it
- 2:59Speaker 1: was satis fine, I do. I don't know if I
- 3:03Speaker 1: feel that way. You just told me you were satisfied.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I know that was your exact word. I but I
- 3:10Speaker 1: don't walk away going that was an incredible season finale
- 3:13Speaker 1: or series finale, Like don't you aren't there shows that
- 3:18Speaker 1: you've seen the finale and you're like, you know what,
- 3:20Speaker 1: that was excellent? Yes, but I also think that we
- 3:23Speaker 1: have more information about the running of the show than
- 3:25Speaker 1: we do about other shows, and we know that with
- 3:27Speaker 1: two episodes left to go, they were told they needed
- 3:30Speaker 1: to wrap it up and so there needed to be rewrites,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and I knew it was going to be imperfect. I
- 3:38Speaker 1: feel like with with the opportunity that they were given,
- 3:42Speaker 1: it was the most we could have hoped for. I
- 3:45Speaker 1: really wish the writers would spill the tea if if
- 3:50Speaker 1: they know, like this show is not going to get
- 3:52Speaker 1: picked up anywhere else. I wish I would say, like
- 3:54Speaker 1: this is what was going to happen. Yeah, and this
- 3:56Speaker 1: is where season five was headed. I wish sure. But
- 4:00Speaker 1: all right, how do you want to dig in? Well,
- 4:02Speaker 1: we're just going to run through this chronologically, I think, okay, yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 1: that's probably the best way, just because there's so much
- 4:09Speaker 1: to cover. Yes, all right, and I don't want to
- 4:12Speaker 1: miss a thing. Oh my gosh, I don't want to
- 4:15Speaker 1: close my sing. It isn't that the title of us?
- 4:18Speaker 1: He's in one episode? Yeah? Okay, Well, we open with
- 4:23Speaker 1: very dramatic Kyler Lee dragging Evan Williams through the woods.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I do feel like this is where Kyler does her
- 4:30Speaker 1: best work in a dramatic moment, and she gets several
- 4:33Speaker 1: of them in this episode, and she's really just like
- 4:37Speaker 1: talking him through it, like stay with me, we grow
- 4:39Speaker 1: old together. This isn't how it ends. He passes out
- 4:42Speaker 1: and she screams, but then Alice and Jacob come to
- 4:46Speaker 1: the rescue. I gonna stop you there. Did you think
- 4:48Speaker 1: he was dead? I thought Elliott was dead at multiple
- 4:51Speaker 1: points throughout this episode. Oh really, yes, I thought Elliott
- 4:54Speaker 1: was going to die. Are you surprised that he didn't
- 4:57Speaker 1: a little bit. Okay, here's my next quession. Alice and
- 5:01Speaker 1: Jacob come out of the pond. They're not together. Alice
- 5:03Speaker 1: comes first, then Jacob. Now Jacob is there? Is this
- 5:07Speaker 1: his first time traveling in the pond since he came home?
- 5:11Speaker 1: I think so, I don't remember. I can't remember either.
- 5:16Speaker 1: My second question is why the freak is Jacob there?
- 5:20Speaker 1: Is it because we saw in the previously on he
- 5:23Speaker 1: learns from Rita that five go in four came out like,
- 5:28Speaker 1: he learns the lore, and so therefore he's afraid that
- 5:31Speaker 1: Kat and Elliott may be part of those who are
- 5:34Speaker 1: I think so killed, and so he jumps back to
- 5:37Speaker 1: save them. I think so okay, because I didn't quite
- 5:41Speaker 1: understand why Jacob was there. I think part of me
- 5:44Speaker 1: was like, Alice can't get Elliott home on our own.
- 5:49Speaker 1: We need Kat to stay so we can see what
- 5:51Speaker 1: unfolds in nineteen twenty five with Fern and Cliff and
- 5:55Speaker 1: all that stuff. So I wonder if this was part
- 5:58Speaker 1: of the re configuration rewrite of these last couple episodes.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Quite passibly, Yeah, they all jump back in the pond.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Jacob takes Elliott first and then Cat and Alyice jump in,
- 6:09Speaker 1: but the pond does not take Cat. Once again, we
- 6:14Speaker 1: get the screaming pissed in the water. Yeah, she's mad
- 6:18Speaker 1: in the watch. You know, that's vigoting, okay, and then
- 6:25Speaker 1: Cat has to do something really hard now, and that's
- 6:30Speaker 1: be here for Fern. She goes and finds Fern at
- 6:32Speaker 1: the cove. Fern is not okay. She's probably what we
- 6:37Speaker 1: would call disassociating. I mean a little. The light has
- 6:40Speaker 1: gone out of her. She's completely flat. She's watching the
- 6:43Speaker 1: aftermath of the explosion. They're kind of unloading things from
- 6:46Speaker 1: the secret tunnel onto the beach. Should I stop you? There?
- 6:49Speaker 1: Is this the first time that I realized that Lingamore
- 6:51Speaker 1: tunnels go all the way out to the cove. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: think it's the first time it's made obvious. But that's
- 6:57Speaker 1: how they're They were bootlegging. Yeah, and you know, so
- 7:00Speaker 1: she's kind of kind of processing it. Cliff was supposed
- 7:02Speaker 1: to kiss me at midnight, Like she has no affect
- 7:06Speaker 1: at all, great acting. In great acting. We hear them
- 7:11Speaker 1: yell like we found someone. And then this is when
- 7:13Speaker 1: she decides to walk away. And I assume it's because
- 7:17Speaker 1: she's assuming that it's Cliff like, it's there's not a
- 7:22Speaker 1: lot of information, and she's like, I need to write
- 7:24Speaker 1: a column. Did you see the fireworks? They were so loud?
- 7:28Speaker 1: And back to present day. Oh, Sam wants to talk
- 7:31Speaker 1: to Dell about what he knows about the pond. Like
- 7:34Speaker 1: he's like, oh, let's revisit this conversation. And then we
- 7:36Speaker 1: see Jacob and Alice with Elliott. Sam goes call nine
- 7:43Speaker 1: one one and I gotta have a wonder, how do
- 7:45Speaker 1: you explain this to nine one one? Well, it's interesting,
- 7:48Speaker 1: right because they touch on it later, yeaes Sam smooth
- 7:52Speaker 1: did it all over And I thought, yeah, that's a
- 7:54Speaker 1: really good point. How did the police go? Man, how's
- 7:57Speaker 1: a gunshot wound? We're just gonna accept that it's all
- 8:00Speaker 1: a big accident and move along. Yeah, there's no investigating,
- 8:04Speaker 1: Like I mean that Jacob was living off the grid
- 8:07Speaker 1: for twenty years, So yes, I guess maybe maybe the
- 8:10Speaker 1: Port Haven Mounties are not all there cracked up to be. Perhaps.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Then we jump back to the Landry farmhouse in nineteen
- 8:17Speaker 1: twenty six where Fern finds the letter. The letter from
- 8:21Speaker 1: Cliff m It's such a beautiful love, isn't it. I mean,
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know, this is when she tells Kat that she's pregnant,
- 8:28Speaker 1: but she didn't get to tell Cliff. And I just
- 8:31Speaker 1: think it's so interesting that Kat is so present in
- 8:35Speaker 1: this moment with Fern, like she is so there for
- 8:37Speaker 1: her in spite of the fact that she must be
- 8:39Speaker 1: spinning out about she doesn't have any idea what's happened
- 8:42Speaker 1: with Elliott. We've seen Kat spin out over smaller things, right,
- 8:47Speaker 1: and she's absent of emotion or worry about Elliott at all.
- 8:52Speaker 1: She's one hundred percent fully present for Fern. Yes, I
- 8:57Speaker 1: just think that takes a lot of strength if we're
- 8:59Speaker 1: assuming this is a person, yes, for her to you know,
- 9:03Speaker 1: this is her friend but also her grandmother. Yeah, she
- 9:07Speaker 1: tried to go to be with Elliott. She can't. She
- 9:09Speaker 1: can only be here in this moment, so she's fully present. Yeah, Okay,
- 9:13Speaker 1: I have questions about the letter. The letter is still
- 9:17Speaker 1: a little murky to me because why did Cliff write
- 9:21Speaker 1: a letter on those Those are pages from the Alice
- 9:24Speaker 1: in Wonderland book, right, Why why did he write a
- 9:27Speaker 1: letter on those pages? Because they don't have a notepad
- 9:32Speaker 1: readily available. I don't know, it's not as poetic to
- 9:36Speaker 1: rip one out of your legal pad. And then why
- 9:38Speaker 1: does Fern We get a little bit of a scene
- 9:43Speaker 1: later on, but why does she eventually wrap that note
- 9:47Speaker 1: around the piano key Because she's keeping Cliff a secret.
- 9:52Speaker 1: She doesn't want to sully his good name by suggesting that,
- 9:55Speaker 1: like he got her pregnant without being married to her.
- 9:58Speaker 1: That's right. So she's alive a Hamilton, erasing him from
- 10:01Speaker 1: the narrative. Ah, look at that, And so she hides
- 10:06Speaker 1: that letter. Now when we get to that scene, I mean,
- 10:08Speaker 1: we'll talk about it now, but I'm like, it's been
- 10:11Speaker 1: one hundred years and nobody noticed that this key sounded
- 10:13Speaker 1: off in all this time. Yeah nobody. They've not tuned
- 10:17Speaker 1: the piano in all this time. Okay, but I still
- 10:21Speaker 1: don't understand, because on that letter, that was the key thing.
- 10:25Speaker 1: And then that's how Elliott figured out that, yes, Fern
- 10:29Speaker 1: was leaving the message that Tessa had gone. Do you
- 10:33Speaker 1: see like I can't I can't put the puzzle pieces
- 10:37Speaker 1: together in my mind. Well, like what came first? The
- 10:40Speaker 1: key came first, because Fern was right, she's obviously no
- 10:44Speaker 1: longer writing this column, but she had been writing these
- 10:46Speaker 1: coded columns to help Tessa communicate. So she wrote all
- 10:51Speaker 1: that information on the back of these this note that
- 10:54Speaker 1: Cliff left her. She wrote it before Cliff wrote the note. Ah, okay, okay,
- 11:02Speaker 1: that's mackey Moore sense. She's not writing columns anymore now
- 11:05Speaker 1: that Cliff like this is not gonna be who she
- 11:07Speaker 1: is anymore writing the society column She was writing those
- 11:10Speaker 1: society columns, and this is the key to decode them. Okay.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Although I'm not really sure why Ferne has the key
- 11:15Speaker 1: if she's the one writing the columns. But maybe she
- 11:17Speaker 1: needed the key, like this is her copy so that
- 11:20Speaker 1: she can figure out how to write the columns. I
- 11:22Speaker 1: don't know, because if she's writing the column somebody else
- 11:24Speaker 1: should have the keys. Maybe there's two copies of the
- 11:26Speaker 1: key somewhere, don't know. Nevertheless, we're getting ahead of ourselves.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Little mo arrives in this moment. This is very confusing
- 11:34Speaker 1: to me. Okay, good, I'm glad I'm not the only one.
- 11:37Speaker 1: He says, Coop's gone. Okay. He says four of the
- 11:41Speaker 1: five that he saw go in were pulled out. Coop's gone.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Then he says, so's Percy in the undercover cop and
- 11:49Speaker 1: she says what about Cliff. She doesn't answer, but he
- 11:53Speaker 1: has his hat, so you know this is when she
- 11:56Speaker 1: crumples to the ground. It's it's sound, there's music, but
- 12:01Speaker 1: you don't hear her screams, right, Okay, four of the
- 12:05Speaker 1: five he saw go in, we're pulled out. Coop Percy,
- 12:10Speaker 1: the undercover cop, Cliff, who else? I think talking about
- 12:15Speaker 1: Cat and Elliott? Like, because he saw Elliott go in,
- 12:19Speaker 1: but you wouldn't have seen Kat go in, right, Okay,
- 12:22Speaker 1: So okay, Grayson lets her in through a door in
- 12:26Speaker 1: the home, but Cliff followed Elliott in, So I'm assuming
- 12:30Speaker 1: Elliott is the one that he didn't see come out. Okay,
- 12:33Speaker 1: so he saw five go in, there's actually six, but
- 12:38Speaker 1: he doesn't know that Kat was there. Okay, that makes
- 12:40Speaker 1: sense to me. He says, Coop's gone. What we find
- 12:43Speaker 1: out later is she gone gone? Is she dead dead?
- 12:48Speaker 1: Or is she missing? Gone? Right? Because he says that
- 12:53Speaker 1: they pulled four bodies out, Like that's the lore is
- 12:55Speaker 1: they pulled four bodies out. But what we find out
- 12:57Speaker 1: later is maybe she's not dead gone right, Maybe he's
- 13:02Speaker 1: maybe he's part of whatever this mystery secret is. Maybe
- 13:07Speaker 1: what's the word I'm looking for Maybe he's part of
- 13:09Speaker 1: the cover up. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know either.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I gotta tell you this riddle. I'm quoting riddle. This
- 13:18Speaker 1: four went in, five went out, and then a misunderstanding
- 13:22Speaker 1: of the lore and the re explaining of it every
- 13:25Speaker 1: single episode has been has muddied my brain to a
- 13:30Speaker 1: point where I don't care anymore. Please just tell me
- 13:33Speaker 1: who was killed and who wasn't. What body was there,
- 13:36Speaker 1: who was accounted for, who was not. It's still unclear
- 13:40Speaker 1: to me. Yeah, it is a little. I think it's
- 13:43Speaker 1: it's a lot of information. And do you think on
- 13:46Speaker 1: purpose though? Maybe, like is it purposely confusing? Well, I'm
- 13:52Speaker 1: not sure. But in our last episode when we were like,
- 13:55Speaker 1: wait a minute, who are the five? Who are the four?
- 13:57Speaker 1: People were on our YouTube comments and they were like,
- 14:00Speaker 1: oh no, explaining it to us like we were five.
- 14:02Speaker 1: So maybe it's just more confusing to us. Okay, we
- 14:05Speaker 1: might be too in the weeds. Some people seem to
- 14:07Speaker 1: understand it better than I do. I apologize. Somebody please
- 14:10Speaker 1: draw me a diagram. Right, I think it's clear now
- 14:14Speaker 1: who the four? I think it's not to me, I
- 14:17Speaker 1: think we figured it out right, It's it's tell me
- 14:21Speaker 1: it's Coop Percy, the undercover cop, Cliff Cliff. And then
- 14:25Speaker 1: the fifth is Elliott, who was missing, okay, who did
- 14:30Speaker 1: not come out right, So Tessa is dead? Well, dot
- 14:35Speaker 1: does Little Mo know something because this is he doesn't
- 14:38Speaker 1: know that Tessa is a descendant of his a time traveler. Yes,
- 14:43Speaker 1: but obviously they had this relationship with Tessa. So what
- 14:47Speaker 1: we don't know is is he keeping us secret? You
- 14:49Speaker 1: just feel like she's gone too, Yeah, like I'm going
- 14:52Speaker 1: to tell you she's gone. So Capone gets off her scent, right,
- 14:56Speaker 1: because even Grayson would probably be willing to cover up
- 15:01Speaker 1: a faked death because he was going to fake her death.
- 15:06Speaker 1: So maybe all of these people were in on it.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Maybe even Little Mo were in on the original faked
- 15:11Speaker 1: death and they're still keeping up that story, gotcha, because
- 15:15Speaker 1: they want to get the stink of bootlegging off Port Haven.
- 15:17Speaker 1: So but of course none of this is told to us. Yes, okay,
- 15:22Speaker 1: I think this is a really lovely scene because Fern
- 15:24Speaker 1: collapses under the weight of her grief. She screams, we
- 15:26Speaker 1: only hear music. It's a silent scream. Cut to present day,
- 15:30Speaker 1: same music is playing, same slow motion treatment Sam gets
- 15:34Speaker 1: to Alice and Elliott and Jacob while Dell is over them,
- 15:37Speaker 1: calling nine to one one. I mean it doesn't look
- 15:39Speaker 1: good for Elliott. Yes, And then we cover right back
- 15:43Speaker 1: to nineteen twenty six, where Kat goes to the Herald
- 15:46Speaker 1: ostensibly to pick up clothes for Fern, and Grayson is there.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I found this scene very interesting, very Grayson was very
- 15:55Speaker 1: redemptive to me in this episode. I think so too,
- 15:59Speaker 1: Like Kat kind of comes in hot and she's kind
- 16:01Speaker 1: of like cold to him. He's like, look, I wrote
- 16:05Speaker 1: her column, I included the message to Coope's bootlegger. And
- 16:10Speaker 1: Kat's a little bit disappointed because She's asked if he's
- 16:13Speaker 1: gonna say anything about the explosion, and he's like, I'm
- 16:16Speaker 1: not going to, Like, I promise Nate Simon that this
- 16:19Speaker 1: is a scandal, free Port Haven. The big fish has
- 16:21Speaker 1: been caught. They're gonna let Elliott take the fall essentially
- 16:26Speaker 1: for that. That's the story that they'll tell in the paper.
- 16:29Speaker 1: And he really insists like he was just trying to help.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I'm just trying to be a good person. I mean,
- 16:34Speaker 1: maybe he just was. I don't think he was a
- 16:37Speaker 1: bad person, but maybe caught up in the in the
- 16:40Speaker 1: rush of success. Sure, okay, wanted to be successful, wanted
- 16:44Speaker 1: to bring movie making to Port Haven. That's gonna happen.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Do you think Kat brings in all this sort of
- 16:52Speaker 1: good win baggage with her, Like the Goodwins are made
- 16:57Speaker 1: out to be like the Lareas, they're such terrible people. Right,
- 17:01Speaker 1: So she's not even like giving him the opportunity. She
- 17:04Speaker 1: comes in hot like, oh, of course winners are always
- 17:07Speaker 1: gonna win, or whatever the line is like about history
- 17:10Speaker 1: as written by the winner. Right, I do think, like
- 17:13Speaker 1: I thought he was a little redemptive here. Yeah, And
- 17:17Speaker 1: then he hands the will to her the Landrys are
- 17:20Speaker 1: the Lingermore's rightful owners. And then he talks about his
- 17:23Speaker 1: connection with Landry Farm, how his sister had loved it,
- 17:27Speaker 1: Why he and his sister are painted in the mural
- 17:30Speaker 1: on Landry Farm, why the quote Angel is there, which
- 17:35Speaker 1: he does not believe to be the White Witch? Right?
- 17:38Speaker 1: I you know, I guess this season three mystery of
- 17:43Speaker 1: this ghost Cassandra has resolved. Do you think that this
- 17:49Speaker 1: is one of the elements for which there was supposed
- 17:51Speaker 1: to be more story that had to be cut for time?
- 17:54Speaker 1: I do? And I also wondered if like a season
- 17:57Speaker 1: five would focus more on the Goodwins family, we really
- 18:01Speaker 1: don't know anything about them. You get a little more
- 18:04Speaker 1: Evelyn maybe, Yeah, but I think I feel a little
- 18:07Speaker 1: disappointed that the Cassandra part of it was kind of
- 18:10Speaker 1: a nothing burger. Yeah. When it comes down to it,
- 18:15Speaker 1: what's the guy's name who plays Grayson it's escaping me
- 18:19Speaker 1: right now. Norman hannah s Winson, Gabriel Hogan. Yeah, I
- 18:23Speaker 1: actually thought Gabriel Hogan was really good in this role.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I think so too. I have thought the same thing.
- 18:30Speaker 1: He didn't seem like Norman from hannah s Winson playing
- 18:32Speaker 1: a character. He seemed like Grayson Goodwin. And unfortunately I
- 18:36Speaker 1: can't say the same thing for Dan Janat as Cliff Kane.
- 18:39Speaker 1: He felt like he was playing the role of a
- 18:42Speaker 1: nineteen twenties cop. Yes, and I love Dan Janott ever
- 18:47Speaker 1: since his days is pinstripe on the bold Type. If
- 18:49Speaker 1: you want to see Dan Jonot kick ass, go stream
- 18:52Speaker 1: the bold Type. Yeah, yeah, I agree with you. What
- 18:56Speaker 1: is a spicy take, Megan, I'm sorry, spicy take. I know,
- 19:00Speaker 1: hopefully it gets lost in this monster of an episode.
- 19:03Speaker 1: So another theme of this episode is that some people
- 19:06Speaker 1: get their Several people get their five more minutes. Yeah,
- 19:09Speaker 1: a lot of people. And the first to get there
- 19:11Speaker 1: five more minutes is Fern because when Kat asks her
- 19:14Speaker 1: what she needs, she says time, and Kat realizes that's
- 19:16Speaker 1: what she can give her, and Fern talks about how
- 19:18Speaker 1: she never wanted to time travel, but now she does,
- 19:22Speaker 1: and she gets her chance to tell Cliff that he's
- 19:27Speaker 1: going to be a father. I think Fern walks a
- 19:30Speaker 1: very interesting line on changing history here. Okay, obviously she
- 19:34Speaker 1: wants to save Cliff, but she can't tell him everything.
- 19:39Speaker 1: M hmmm. She does say, runs straight to me, don't
- 19:44Speaker 1: be a hero, but she doesn't let him change enough
- 19:48Speaker 1: of history where he says, let me drive you to Lingermore.
- 19:50Speaker 1: She knows that he doesn't do that, so she leaves
- 19:55Speaker 1: before he can come back. You know, she she walks
- 19:57Speaker 1: the line. She does what she can, but she can't.
- 20:01Speaker 1: What has happened will always happen. That's what I have
- 20:03Speaker 1: in my notes, I wrote, but what will happen will
- 20:07Speaker 1: always happen, So urging Cliff not to be a hero
- 20:09Speaker 1: come find her won't actually happen. Right, Yeah, maybe it's
- 20:13Speaker 1: just I'm stuck on this idea because I felt like
- 20:18Speaker 1: she looked like she was torn. Does she know the
- 20:20Speaker 1: lore of the pond, what has happened will always happen,
- 20:23Speaker 1: or does she just not want to be a rule breaker?
- 20:27Speaker 1: Maybe in telling people their future I don't know. But
- 20:32Speaker 1: before they leave, she says, that's all I could want.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Down in the tunnel, he knows that he's a fauther.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Doesn't that make it worse? Does it make it worse?
- 20:40Speaker 1: That's a good question. Maybe, But maybe Cliff seems to
- 20:44Speaker 1: die instantly, so maybe it's that his last moments were
- 20:48Speaker 1: filled with joy and hope. Okay, I can believe that
- 20:52Speaker 1: the reality of the situation is kind of creeping in
- 20:55Speaker 1: on Cat and she has a vision of Elliott. She
- 20:56Speaker 1: breaks a teacup starts to break down, and Fern wants
- 21:02Speaker 1: her to really She's like, look, I it's okay, you
- 21:05Speaker 1: can have this. I want to be here for you too,
- 21:08Speaker 1: And Kat talks about I don't want to leave you alone,
- 21:10Speaker 1: and Fern says, I'm not alone. I'm a mama now.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Like Fern shockingly seems very at peace. When your situation
- 21:18Speaker 1: I means sad, but considering this is I mean, we're
- 21:21Speaker 1: talking like an a Spanic Day twelve hours. Yes, Fern
- 21:25Speaker 1: tells Kat the story of the one and I have questions. Okay, good,
- 21:30Speaker 1: so do I because she talks about the boy from
- 21:33Speaker 1: the future who fell back in time and saved their
- 21:36Speaker 1: family the way she tells the story, because she talks
- 21:40Speaker 1: about who will be the little landry who saves us?
- 21:43Speaker 1: All that phrasing to me makes it sound like it's
- 21:46Speaker 1: Jacob because of little Yes. And later in the episode,
- 21:52Speaker 1: Kat says to Alice, Fern knew about Jacob, but then
- 21:59Speaker 1: if you think about it, but the one who actually
- 22:01Speaker 1: saves the landryes is Colton. I'm reading your notes and
- 22:04Speaker 1: my notes here goes Ah. Colton was the one who
- 22:08Speaker 1: went back and says, plant the potatoes and rice so
- 22:10Speaker 1: you can survive this great cloud of no sun, right,
- 22:13Speaker 1: uh huh. And he's also the one who saves Jacob
- 22:15Speaker 1: from that burning building right own Colton. So who's the
- 22:20Speaker 1: one people who are smarter than me? The one who
- 22:23Speaker 1: saves them is Colton, the little Landry who fell back
- 22:26Speaker 1: in time. Colton doesn't fall back in time. M hm,
- 22:29Speaker 1: he intentionally goes, says, And maybe Fern has misunderstood the lore.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Perhaps yes, because she even says like, I Colton's not
- 22:41Speaker 1: the one as adult Fern, and maybe even adult Fern
- 22:44Speaker 1: doesn't know. Yeah, And maybe that's the point, is that,
- 22:50Speaker 1: because later on I'm like closing my eyes to process this.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Kat talks about how she thinks she's writing the Landry's
- 22:56Speaker 1: history and so maybe she's the one who will finally
- 22:59Speaker 1: put it all together what she knows and what she
- 23:03Speaker 1: has learned. Yeah, because my assumption here and or my
- 23:08Speaker 1: take on this scene here is like Kat's still trying
- 23:10Speaker 1: to like piece it together. She's like there's a disconnect
- 23:13Speaker 1: between like who is who or who knows what or whatever,
- 23:17Speaker 1: because she was like even like I can't she couldn't
- 23:20Speaker 1: figure out if why she didn't know the lore of
- 23:23Speaker 1: the pond? Right did Colton know the lore of the pond?
- 23:26Speaker 1: But she knows that Colton has time traveled. Yes, maybe
- 23:32Speaker 1: Kat was just questioning like why Colton had never expressed
- 23:36Speaker 1: the low of the pond, Like why didn't why didn't
- 23:38Speaker 1: Kat as a child, why didn't they know about the pond?
- 23:44Speaker 1: And so maybe Colton had made a conscious decision of
- 23:48Speaker 1: similar to Fern, Ferne was like, my child won't be
- 23:53Speaker 1: the one, and so maybe Colton because he had traveled
- 23:58Speaker 1: as a teenager, was like, well, I don't want my
- 24:02Speaker 1: children to be vol Wan either, even though Jake, well,
- 24:06Speaker 1: did Colton know that? I don't know if Colton knew
- 24:08Speaker 1: that story? And also adult Fern doesn't know that what
- 24:12Speaker 1: Colton did. You're right, she doesn't know. So maybe Kat
- 24:16Speaker 1: is the one to bring it all together because Kat
- 24:19Speaker 1: knows the history from Jacob having lived it. She knows
- 24:24Speaker 1: the history from knowing Fern during this time, she knows
- 24:27Speaker 1: the history from Alice visiting in the seventies, and she
- 24:31Speaker 1: knows the reality of Jacob's disappearance. So maybe Kat is
- 24:35Speaker 1: the one with all the information and it brings it
- 24:37Speaker 1: on back to I'm here to tell our family story,
- 24:39Speaker 1: which was one of the things she talked about writing
- 24:42Speaker 1: a book when she first arrives in Port Haven. Yeah,
- 24:46Speaker 1: and Delle was like, why are you going to write
- 24:48Speaker 1: a book? Well, I don't. I think she wanted to
- 24:50Speaker 1: write a She wanted to write about Jacob, did she not?
- 24:54Speaker 1: And Dell was anti that she wanted to write about
- 24:57Speaker 1: their family. I tho, But yeah, I feel like this
- 25:00Speaker 1: scene is a little bit rushed because we come back
- 25:01Speaker 1: to present day. Delle comes in the door, and she
- 25:04Speaker 1: kind of like bait and switched them. It's one of
- 25:05Speaker 1: those like you walk in all sad and you're like, eh,
- 25:07Speaker 1: gotcha moments you talking about sort and Alice is like,
- 25:13Speaker 1: oh no, and I was like, no, he's fine, made
- 25:15Speaker 1: it through surgery, It's all good. Sam floor recovery. Sam
- 25:18Speaker 1: saved us told the police it was all a terrible accident.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I think the police are still going to
- 25:25Speaker 1: investigate a gunshot wound. Sam used his medic queens, Yeah,
- 25:30Speaker 1: just kidding. Jacob kind of freaks out and he's like,
- 25:32Speaker 1: I need can needs to know this right, And I
- 25:36Speaker 1: assumed he was going to jump in this moment, but
- 25:37Speaker 1: he does not. Cut back to the farmhouse in nineteen
- 25:42Speaker 1: twenty six and Grayson has arrived and he's shown for
- 25:47Speaker 1: the will, and she, interestingly enough, says, is that why
- 25:50Speaker 1: you wanted to marry her? And he says, I always
- 25:52Speaker 1: wanted to just take care of you, and this is
- 25:56Speaker 1: another part of his redemption. He's like, I'll marry you,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I'll raise this trout and no one has to know. Yeah,
- 26:02Speaker 1: and Ferne can't do it, but Grayson offers to take
- 26:06Speaker 1: care of her from afar see the good ones. We're
- 26:09Speaker 1: not terrible people. No, he says, I'll take care of
- 26:12Speaker 1: the farm with no expectations, and I thought this was
- 26:15Speaker 1: really sweet. She says, you'll find the kind of love
- 26:18Speaker 1: that I had, and he said maybe, but they will
- 26:20Speaker 1: not compare. Now I can't remember. Do we know if
- 26:23Speaker 1: he Oh, he does get married to somebody else? Right,
- 26:27Speaker 1: we had learned earlier this season that he married somebody else. Yes,
- 26:30Speaker 1: he does marry someone else because he has Evelyn's parents, right.
- 26:34Speaker 1: And this is where we get the whole hiding of
- 26:36Speaker 1: the note from Cliff in the keys, because she wants
- 26:42Speaker 1: to protect his good name. You know, she doesn't want
- 26:44Speaker 1: to raise his illegitimate child, and so she makes up
- 26:49Speaker 1: that story about her love jumping from a cliff or
- 26:53Speaker 1: whatever that we hear earlier. Yes, yes, yes, yes, she's like,
- 26:58Speaker 1: I'm an actress after all. Yes. Okay, So then do
- 27:02Speaker 1: the people even know who the child? Who the father
- 27:05Speaker 1: of that child is? No, nobody knows. Nobody's ever asked
- 27:09Speaker 1: the question of like, who's your baby daddy? She'd made
- 27:12Speaker 1: up a story about a sailor. Okay, that's interesting. I
- 27:16Speaker 1: mean I had forgotten that that story was shared. Yeah,
- 27:21Speaker 1: I wish they could have tied that in a little
- 27:23Speaker 1: bit for the dummy like me who would have just
- 27:26Speaker 1: had the same moment. Ah. Yeah, you know. Anyway. You
- 27:31Speaker 1: know what's funny is we come back to present day
- 27:32Speaker 1: and the first time I watched is I completely missed this.
- 27:34Speaker 1: It's a text from Noah the Rezo needs me this weekend. Yeah, Like,
- 27:40Speaker 1: does that mean restaurant? I think so. I assumed we'll
- 27:45Speaker 1: have more weekends though, I just wrote in my notes
- 27:48Speaker 1: by dude, right, like all this Noah stuff all season long,
- 27:53Speaker 1: just wasting time. This is it. It's kind of like
- 27:57Speaker 1: Rory and the boyfriend she keeps forgetting about in the
- 27:59Speaker 1: Year in the Law. Yeah, it's like that. Go she
- 28:03Speaker 1: sees photos of her mom and Elliott, and she jumps
- 28:05Speaker 1: in the pond. I assume she's trying to get to
- 28:07Speaker 1: her mom, like to help, you know. She's like, I
- 28:08Speaker 1: got to get to her, let her know, bring her back.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I don't know. But she arrives in the eighties and
- 28:14Speaker 1: this is where she finds Tessa digging a hole to
- 28:16Speaker 1: bury her suitcase. I am often reminded. Now I'm just
- 28:21Speaker 1: meshing this show and the Backs to the Future together,
- 28:25Speaker 1: Like where we're going, we don't need no suitcases. Like,
- 28:29Speaker 1: thank you for that line, Megan. And then again we're
- 28:33Speaker 1: jumping back and forth. She's like, where are you going?
- 28:35Speaker 1: And she's like, same place I just came from, you
- 28:37Speaker 1: know whatever. Yeah, this part of the episode kind of
- 28:41Speaker 1: loses me a little bit, only because now we're we're
- 28:46Speaker 1: tackling like all these like open storylines in this one episode,
- 28:52Speaker 1: which yeah, I know is the point, but it's kind
- 28:56Speaker 1: of information overload for sure. Absolutely, I wish they would
- 29:00Speaker 1: have broken this up into two episodes. Ah, I hear you,
- 29:05Speaker 1: I hear you. But it's all this like Tessa stuff
- 29:08Speaker 1: to me. Her motivation is strange to me. She is
- 29:14Speaker 1: enamored by Griffin and his lifestyle and the Pond is
- 29:19Speaker 1: so magical, and it's tied to like this tarot card
- 29:22Speaker 1: that she Evelyn had presented her at one time, and
- 29:27Speaker 1: then it's muddied with this postpard and depression of not
- 29:32Speaker 1: being a good enough mom but still like loving Elliott
- 29:35Speaker 1: and Vic so much. Like I don't understand Tessa's motivation,
- 29:41Speaker 1: and part of me does not care because we see
- 29:47Speaker 1: Tessa what Tessa adult Tessa turns into. I'm like, I
- 29:50Speaker 1: just don't like, I don't have any affection for this character.
- 29:54Speaker 1: That's really interesting. Okay, so here's my take. First of all,
- 29:57Speaker 1: we're not there yet in the episode, but we'll talk
- 29:59Speaker 1: about I don't think Tessa is enamored with Griffin at all.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I think she's simply enamored with the opportunity he presents
- 30:09Speaker 1: her to escape. And I think it just everything kind
- 30:13Speaker 1: of falls into place for her because she's like, she
- 30:18Speaker 1: genuinely fears for what she might do to Elliott. She
- 30:22Speaker 1: thinks she's a bad mom. If you consider that she's
- 30:25Speaker 1: in the throes of postpartum depression, she is not herself.
- 30:29Speaker 1: She has these intrusive thoughts. She genuinely feels like he
- 30:32Speaker 1: would be better off without her. And I think if
- 30:37Speaker 1: you've ever had that feeling of like I want to
- 30:39Speaker 1: run away, where is she going to go that they
- 30:41Speaker 1: couldn't find her, Well, I'm going to jump in the pond.
- 30:44Speaker 1: This seems like a magical solution to my problem. This
- 30:47Speaker 1: magical thinking that all of my problems will be solved
- 30:51Speaker 1: if I can just time travel. Okay, of course that's
- 30:56Speaker 1: not logical thinking. But she's not thinking a lot. You know,
- 30:59Speaker 1: She's she's in a mental health crisis, and so you know,
- 31:05Speaker 1: I do think she thought she was doing the best
- 31:09Speaker 1: thing she could. She was afraid that Farne's prophecy would
- 31:13Speaker 1: come true, that she'd be the one. Well it did, well,
- 31:17Speaker 1: she didn't kill Elliott, but yeah, that's well. I got
- 31:19Speaker 1: some issues with the whole that whole thing too, But
- 31:22Speaker 1: I just think I kind of get it. I think
- 31:25Speaker 1: it's an important light to shine on this issue. I
- 31:28Speaker 1: think she's so super flawed. The biggest issue I have
- 31:32Speaker 1: with this, and I said it in a couple episodes ago,
- 31:35Speaker 1: is I don't understand how Vic became the present day
- 31:39Speaker 1: man that we know simply because his wife left him,
- 31:43Speaker 1: Like how did he become so hardened? Because I think
- 31:47Speaker 1: we're missing a step where he was so close with
- 31:51Speaker 1: the Landrys in this time, like their families were so close.
- 31:57Speaker 1: And Tessa leaves Elliott and they're the ones who find him.
- 32:03Speaker 1: But what happened to turn him into this yeah, horrible man?
- 32:07Speaker 1: That's the biggest missing piece for me. I agree with that.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Or we have that revelation with Fern and Alice. Dell
- 32:15Speaker 1: finds Jacob in the barn and Jacob is angry, mad
- 32:18Speaker 1: at the pond, blames the pond. The pond is the
- 32:21Speaker 1: reason all of the bad things in our life have happened.
- 32:24Speaker 1: The pond is the reason my relationship with Abby is
- 32:27Speaker 1: in trouble. And he's like, we need to walk away
- 32:29Speaker 1: from the Pond forever. I'm gonna get kat, I'm gonna
- 32:32Speaker 1: bring her home, and we're gonna be done with the Pond.
- 32:35Speaker 1: I think that's the best idea ever. I mean, that's
- 32:38Speaker 1: logical thinking, right, Jacob is not wrong considering all the
- 32:42Speaker 1: stuff that Jacob's been through and he's just seeing like
- 32:46Speaker 1: all the stuff unfold. But the sister jumping all the time, Yeah,
- 32:51Speaker 1: and creating more problems. Yeah, because what's going to happen
- 32:56Speaker 1: is going to happen. So why do we continue to
- 32:59Speaker 1: go back metal? I mean, I think it's a great question,
- 33:03Speaker 1: and I think it's you know, the way the episode
- 33:05Speaker 1: ends kind of tells you like they're not done. They're
- 33:07Speaker 1: not done. But in the episode we cut back to
- 33:11Speaker 1: Alice and Tessa, and I think the button on this
- 33:14Speaker 1: Alice and Tessa scene is Alice saying, what if I
- 33:17Speaker 1: told you you couldn't come back? Which is a wild
- 33:20Speaker 1: way to break the rules of the pond and Tessa
- 33:22Speaker 1: simply says, as long as Elliott's safe, and you know,
- 33:26Speaker 1: Alice says, he's amazing, so okay, okay, So then I
- 33:30Speaker 1: want to clarify here, we are to believe that the
- 33:34Speaker 1: original male and female jumpers were Tessa and Griffin that
- 33:39Speaker 1: we saw. Okay, yeah, and she says, will he be alone?
- 33:42Speaker 1: And Alice says, you know, baby Elliott, yeah, and we'll
- 33:46Speaker 1: come get in, So Tessa does leave him there. I
- 33:49Speaker 1: just have like a really hard time wrapping my brain
- 33:52Speaker 1: around the timing of it, like what has happened and
- 33:58Speaker 1: what hasn't happened? You know, we keep going I mean like, yeah,
- 34:01Speaker 1: me through time, like what is this literally linearly literally
- 34:06Speaker 1: and then like if things that have already happened, and
- 34:08Speaker 1: then you go back and reassured the people. It just
- 34:12Speaker 1: messes with my head. Of course, of course, Elia comes
- 34:15Speaker 1: home from the hospital with Dell blames himself for Tessa
- 34:20Speaker 1: being gone. Delle says it was the choices that she made,
- 34:24Speaker 1: and then you know, he's kind of upset with him
- 34:27Speaker 1: for going back, and she's like, isn't it better to
- 34:29Speaker 1: have had those moments with her? And Elliott says, we're
- 34:31Speaker 1: always going to wish for more time, very much a
- 34:33Speaker 1: theme of this episode. He says, where is everyone? And
- 34:37Speaker 1: we cut to Jacob arriving at the Landry Farmhouse. Where
- 34:39Speaker 1: is I'm sorry, I don't mean to goof on Elliott,
- 34:45Speaker 1: but and how happy were you? I was like, oh,
- 34:49Speaker 1: it's Susannah and Tom. I was happy. I thought that
- 34:52Speaker 1: was a nice inclusion for the fans who like that
- 34:57Speaker 1: time period. Yes, yeah, how did you you know to come?
- 35:01Speaker 1: So this is right? Elijah does okay, all right? Yeah,
- 35:05Speaker 1: And so Jacob's like, I'm so mad at the pond
- 35:08Speaker 1: and Elijah's like, yo, accept responsibility for your actions and
- 35:12Speaker 1: your choices and let go of your anger. He says,
- 35:15Speaker 1: it's not your prison, Jacob, you are And finally, many
- 35:19Speaker 1: people need to let go in this episode. Many people.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Two people really need to let go in this episode.
- 35:26Speaker 1: And Elijah is the one who gives that freedom to Jacob,
- 35:30Speaker 1: and he's he's free now he can finally live his life.
- 35:33Speaker 1: I mean it just it took this secondary father figure,
- 35:37Speaker 1: the one who actually raised him, to say, yo, you're
- 35:40Speaker 1: looking at it all wrong. Let it go. Who's the
- 35:42Speaker 1: other person who needs to let go? Dell Oh, I
- 35:46Speaker 1: thought it might be Elliott. He's a lego of Tessa.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Oh no, he's not done with Tessa. I just think
- 35:52Speaker 1: Dell needed closure. But we'll get to it, okay before
- 35:55Speaker 1: we finish off our time. In the eighteen hundreds, Alice
- 35:58Speaker 1: sees the moment when griff And leaves the note and
- 36:01Speaker 1: the ring at the Augustine home and he's very frustrated
- 36:04Speaker 1: because he's been trying to get back to Tessa in
- 36:07Speaker 1: the past. And he says, you know, Tessa sent him
- 36:10Speaker 1: back with the ring. He thinks she knew she would
- 36:12Speaker 1: never be able to come back, or perhaps she knew
- 36:15Speaker 1: that she wasn't going to want to come back. Maybe
- 36:18Speaker 1: she didn't tell him the whole story of how she
- 36:22Speaker 1: never planned to return. And he says, you never know
- 36:25Speaker 1: what you got till it's gone. The song, don't it
- 36:28Speaker 1: always seemed to go? Yeah, that's a lot I've you know,
- 36:36Speaker 1: misterysolved mystery song to the end. There's the letter, that's
- 36:40Speaker 1: who brought the ring back. He faked her death to
- 36:42Speaker 1: give Vic closure the end, that's it. And it still
- 36:47Speaker 1: didn't it mean make a worse human being? Yeah, it
- 36:52Speaker 1: didn't do anything good for her. Justice for poor Vic.
- 36:55Speaker 1: August seriously Jacob gets to say goodbye to his father
- 36:58Speaker 1: in the eighteen hundred, and then he tells Susanna and
- 37:01Speaker 1: Thomas he's in a relationship with a Goodwin and then Susannah, look,
- 37:04Speaker 1: there's a lot of winks and nods to the fans here. Yeah,
- 37:07Speaker 1: I think so too, And I think Susannah asking about
- 37:10Speaker 1: Kat in that longing way is one of them. Yes, ma'am.
- 37:13Speaker 1: And then Thomas jokes, of course, I'm sure she hasn't
- 37:16Speaker 1: managed to keep herself out of trouble. I appreciate that
- 37:18Speaker 1: little nod to or did I do that cat? Yeah?
- 37:22Speaker 1: And then yep, here comes so Jacob's like, why aren't
- 37:27Speaker 1: you in New York? And He's like, I felt called
- 37:28Speaker 1: to return, which I'm sure was just like he They
- 37:31Speaker 1: don't tell Jacob that his father's dying, which I find
- 37:34Speaker 1: very interesting, but maybe it's just enough that he's there
- 37:36Speaker 1: and gets to say goodbye. I assume he felt called
- 37:38Speaker 1: to return because Susannah communicated with him like it's towards
- 37:42Speaker 1: the end. Come home to say goodbye to Elijah. He says,
- 37:46Speaker 1: I'll return again with Kat, will all be together once again?
- 37:50Speaker 1: Thinks Suzanna. For everything she's done with the family. This
- 37:53Speaker 1: to me seems like it's probably the moment where Susannah
- 37:56Speaker 1: decides to leave Lingermore to the Landries to bring their
- 37:59Speaker 1: families together. Right, It's like, there's hope for our families.
- 38:02Speaker 1: This is great. And then Thomas and Jacob share this moment.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Jacob thanks him for his friendship, and he's like, you know,
- 38:08Speaker 1: he says something to me very recently when I was
- 38:11Speaker 1: hallucinating you. Thomas is like, yeah, I've had dreams of
- 38:15Speaker 1: you both too, more cat, if I'm to be honest,
- 38:17Speaker 1: which I thought was cute, but he says, you know,
- 38:22Speaker 1: I've had dreams of them in your time present day,
- 38:26Speaker 1: sitting on the porch, sun setting on our blue house. Yep.
- 38:30Speaker 1: And as Jacob walks away, he turns around and he's like,
- 38:32Speaker 1: I never told you our house was blue, And Thomas says,
- 38:36Speaker 1: the universe works in mysterious ways. What are you doing
- 38:38Speaker 1: to me? Writers? Why why would they do that? We
- 38:42Speaker 1: don't have forward time travel? What are you doing to me?
- 38:46Speaker 1: They're just gonna They just were like, you know, let's
- 38:49Speaker 1: just put this out there at me for the Tomcats, Yeah,
- 38:52Speaker 1: for the Tomcat fans. Yeah, I know, what are you
- 38:56Speaker 1: doing to me? Here. Yeah, it makes me madd a
- 38:58Speaker 1: little bit right, And then of course this is present day.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Jacob returns home, checks the almanac and sees, huh, I
- 39:04Speaker 1: was there just in time the pond. This is like, hey,
- 39:07Speaker 1: I need to let go of my anger for the pond,
- 39:09Speaker 1: because look what the pond gave me. It gave me
- 39:10Speaker 1: my five more minutes to say goodbye. Yeah to Elijah. Yeah, hey,
- 39:14Speaker 1: let's take a quick break and we'll come right back
- 39:17Speaker 1: with more talk about the way home. Abby comes. She
- 39:28Speaker 1: wants to understand the will. Jacob doesn't explain it to her.
- 39:32Speaker 1: She's like, you need to tell me everything, and he's like,
- 39:34Speaker 1: it doesn't matter, I'll tell you later. Yeah, you guys,
- 39:37Speaker 1: sit down with Abby and Danny and tell everybody plas
- 39:41Speaker 1: Sam and Daddy and Sam Rita. They need a murder board.
- 39:47Speaker 1: You need to explain it. To do them all, they're
- 39:50Speaker 1: going to need visual aids. Anyway. I'm sorry I mentioned
- 39:55Speaker 1: murder board to my husband the other day. He didn't
- 39:57Speaker 1: know what you're talking about? No what, And I'm like,
- 40:01Speaker 1: never mind, you know, he apologizes, He says there's never
- 40:07Speaker 1: enough time, please stay, and they kiss and then the
- 40:10Speaker 1: other you know, I'm more like i'll tell you later.
- 40:12Speaker 1: She asked what the almanac? He says, it's my family.
- 40:14Speaker 1: I can't wait to tell you all about them. Do
- 40:15Speaker 1: you think that means he's going to tell her the
- 40:17Speaker 1: whole truth? I think it's a moot point. Actually at
- 40:20Speaker 1: this point you don't care. I just I mean, he
- 40:25Speaker 1: should tell her the whole truth. But then, like how
- 40:27Speaker 1: does that unfold? You know? It just I think we've
- 40:31Speaker 1: had this conversation before, like, oh, let me tell you.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I was, Yeah. Do you think it's just convenient that
- 40:36Speaker 1: they just when he says like, I can't wait to
- 40:38Speaker 1: tell you all about them, we're just going to have
- 40:40Speaker 1: that off cameras we don't have to deal with Are
- 40:42Speaker 1: we gonna let her in? Exactly? And maybe you just
- 40:44Speaker 1: tell him about like your family member Elijah, who was
- 40:49Speaker 1: just a great guy. Sure, who's built her landry farm here,
- 40:53Speaker 1: and this is the fireplace that you built still stands today.
- 40:56Speaker 1: I thought about that damn fireplace in this episode too,
- 40:58Speaker 1: because remember like the rock. Yeah, because Jacob brings it up. Yes,
- 41:02Speaker 1: I know, I know. Fern says goodbye to Kat at
- 41:06Speaker 1: the pond, tells her to be brave. Kat says she's scared,
- 41:09Speaker 1: Erne says the only way out is through Kat promises
- 41:11Speaker 1: to come back. Fern wants to meet Alice, and Cat jumps.
- 41:14Speaker 1: In nineteen eighty four, Alice is about to jump in
- 41:17Speaker 1: the pond to return, but Fern finds her there, and
- 41:19Speaker 1: Alice is mad at Fern. She's like, why did you
- 41:22Speaker 1: say those things to Tessa about Elliott dying? Yeah, and
- 41:27Speaker 1: Tessa's like, because it's true, and Alice says, but Elliott
- 41:29Speaker 1: didn't die. Now, Fern looks surprised by this information, and
- 41:33Speaker 1: she's like, no one's ever really gone, are they not?
- 41:35Speaker 1: When the ponds involved Kil's covine Yet For storytelling, well,
- 41:41Speaker 1: my question here is what do we make of this
- 41:44Speaker 1: moment that Fern seems surprised by the information that Elliott
- 41:48Speaker 1: didn't die. Kat told Fern in this moment, I'll come back. Now.
- 41:51Speaker 1: We don't know what happens after this, so maybe she
- 41:54Speaker 1: never does come back to her in this time, And
- 41:57Speaker 1: all of the times that Fern has seen Kat as
- 42:01Speaker 1: old Fern have all happened before Elliott was shot in
- 42:06Speaker 1: Kat's time, so maybe Fern doesn't really know what happened
- 42:10Speaker 1: to Elliott and has assumed that Elliott died in that
- 42:14Speaker 1: Lingermore shooting. Oh yeah, because yeah, we've never seen Kat
- 42:21Speaker 1: beyond this come back to Fern. Yes, yes, yes, So
- 42:24Speaker 1: maybe she's just lived her whole life with the assumption
- 42:27Speaker 1: Elliott died Elliott was killed. Yeah, yes, that makes sense.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Now me, I go, oh, Elliot's going to die. Elliott's
- 42:37Speaker 1: going to drop that. At some point in this episode,
- 42:39Speaker 1: I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. When
- 42:42Speaker 1: he proposed, I thought he would collapse. I thought he
- 42:45Speaker 1: was not going to be at the wedding. Oh yeah,
- 42:48Speaker 1: I thought Elliott was a goner. Now I think Fern
- 42:52Speaker 1: just didn't know. She just didn't know. She was communicating
- 42:55Speaker 1: based on the information that she did know. Yes, yes, hm,
- 43:02Speaker 1: but we get another one of these, like you're my
- 43:04Speaker 1: great granddaughter. They hug and Fern leave, singing I'll see
- 43:07Speaker 1: you in my dreams. Nice. Nice. She finally gets to
- 43:10Speaker 1: meet Alice. Because the reason I also think looking back
- 43:15Speaker 1: on this, that Fern didn't know is this is the
- 43:19Speaker 1: moment she meets Alice. Yeah, and Kat had said like
- 43:23Speaker 1: come back, and friend said bring Alice. Well obviously she
- 43:26Speaker 1: never did. Yeah, because this is when she meets her
- 43:29Speaker 1: as an old lady back in present day, Elliott looks
- 43:32Speaker 1: at the clock. He turns the time back to eleven eleven. Oh,
- 43:36Speaker 1: I didn't catch that, so that the Beautiful Dreamer plays. Yeah,
- 43:40Speaker 1: Kat walks in. She says, make a wish they kissed.
- 43:42Speaker 1: The music swells yay. In the next thing, Alice and
- 43:46Speaker 1: Elliott are planning something at the kitchen table. Dell comes
- 43:49Speaker 1: in and says Nick wants her to reconsider selling the boat.
- 43:51Speaker 1: And this whole episode, I'm going, are we just gonna
- 43:53Speaker 1: not bring Nick back at all? But here he is.
- 43:56Speaker 1: And this is one of those like there is so
- 43:58Speaker 1: much happening in the moment because Kat comes in, She's like,
- 44:01Speaker 1: I got the film here for Monica. And then Alice
- 44:03Speaker 1: has to tell Elliott about the trouble with the film reel. Yeah,
- 44:05Speaker 1: and the editor is still a mystery and he's like,
- 44:07Speaker 1: but wait, I gave the reel to Devlin after finding
- 44:10Speaker 1: it in her basement as like an apology for the
- 44:12Speaker 1: Lingermore disaster. It's one of those scenes. Is cut to
- 44:17Speaker 1: Jacob talking to Lewis Goodwin about the will he gets
- 44:20Speaker 1: the back sits I don't want it. There was a
- 44:22Speaker 1: time when our families were friends Susanna gave this to
- 44:26Speaker 1: us to reunite the families. Please accept us together. He
- 44:29Speaker 1: makes amends, he makes with Lewis, and it is all good.
- 44:34Speaker 1: We have Abby around the corner listening to the whole
- 44:38Speaker 1: thing as it's happening. You know, I know that you
- 44:42Speaker 1: did not care one bit about the Abby Jacob storyline.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Nice end this episode. They needed closure with good with Lewis. Yeah,
- 44:51Speaker 1: of course they offer a truce and then they flash
- 44:53Speaker 1: on Cyrus Goodwin, which is a hard pill to swallow
- 44:56Speaker 1: because Cyrus tortured Jacob. Yes, so this is very Jake's
- 45:02Speaker 1: letting go of his ankles of Jacob, like letting it
- 45:05Speaker 1: go right. Yeah, don't make Lewis apologize for the sins
- 45:09Speaker 1: of your family. Well, it's the advice that Elijah gave
- 45:13Speaker 1: him too. It's like you're the prisoner of your own
- 45:16Speaker 1: self or whatever. It really it's a really good message. Actually,
- 45:20Speaker 1: it's a really good message. This is when we get
- 45:23Speaker 1: the family history seen and Alice in present day gets
- 45:26Speaker 1: a text from Max to come outside, and did you
- 45:29Speaker 1: notice snow everywhere? I did? So maybe it's fall. Yeah,
- 45:34Speaker 1: because remember she didn't go to school, and like she
- 45:37Speaker 1: had been there and like the timing. The time line
- 45:40Speaker 1: is okay, so it's the fall. Sure it's not January
- 45:45Speaker 1: of the next year. Anyway, I thought it was incongruous
- 45:47Speaker 1: that there was snow on the ground, but whatever. Maybe
- 45:49Speaker 1: did they have to pick up cameras and like go
- 45:51Speaker 1: back and shoot stuff. Well, I just think they shoot
- 45:54Speaker 1: into the fall. Was it actually snowing where they shoot
- 45:58Speaker 1: this in the fall? I think? So? Oh, I don't know,
- 46:01Speaker 1: Like everybody just ignore the snow. Yeah, maybe this is
- 46:03Speaker 1: a pickup scene with her and I don't know. I
- 46:05Speaker 1: don't know. It doesn't matter, It doesn't matter. Max is like,
- 46:08Speaker 1: admit that the song is about me. We're in love,
- 46:11Speaker 1: we're going to be together forever, and she's like, no,
- 46:14Speaker 1: it's not. And the funniest thing about me is that
- 46:17Speaker 1: Maxtro's and Mercedes SUV, which is a soccer mom car. Like,
- 46:21Speaker 1: that's not a what eighteen year old is driving? That's
- 46:24Speaker 1: not a finance bro car? Yeah, Like put him in
- 46:27Speaker 1: a sedan at least. Well, maybe he's driving his downce
- 46:31Speaker 1: car because he's back in town and maybe doesn't have
- 46:33Speaker 1: a car. Wait, Max did have a car. Remember they
- 46:37Speaker 1: were at the beach. It was a it was a bronco. Yeah,
- 46:41Speaker 1: it was something like that. Yeah, maybe it's okay, you're right,
- 46:43Speaker 1: fair enough they sold his car because he's not living
- 46:45Speaker 1: at home. I didn't want to pay that teenage boy insurance.
- 46:48Speaker 1: We figured it out. That's why he's in the Mercedes
- 46:52Speaker 1: SUV and up pops Nick and he's like, you're really
- 46:55Speaker 1: going to leave after that? And apparently Nick manages to
- 47:00Speaker 1: and it's all the awkward moments of Alice's love life.
- 47:02Speaker 1: This feels kind of creepy to me. The whole thing,
- 47:05Speaker 1: the whole thing. We're going to get to the next
- 47:06Speaker 1: next scene in a minute. But he's like, you should
- 47:09Speaker 1: I want you to find love in your own time,
- 47:10Speaker 1: focus on the now, live in the now, which I agree,
- 47:13Speaker 1: live in the now. They hit us over the head
- 47:15Speaker 1: with it this episode. Live in the Now. Yeah, I
- 47:18Speaker 1: think so too. This is one of my favorite scenes
- 47:21Speaker 1: because Alice goes to the pond and she comes upon
- 47:25Speaker 1: adult Evelyn watching film reels alone in a dark Linger Moore,
- 47:30Speaker 1: this was the scene you were hoping for, right, Yes,
- 47:33Speaker 1: it was a scene I was hoping for her five
- 47:35Speaker 1: more minutes with Evelyn. There's a lot that happens, but
- 47:38Speaker 1: I do want to talk about how Evelyn like cuts
- 47:39Speaker 1: the reel and she's like, oh, my great grandfather Grace
- 47:42Speaker 1: and Goodman, or my grandfather Grace and Goodman taught me
- 47:43Speaker 1: how to do that. I'm like, it's scissors. I'm sure
- 47:45Speaker 1: there's some like splice when he's pulling scissors out of
- 47:47Speaker 1: a drawer. I'm sure there's some like official way to
- 47:51Speaker 1: splice these things together. I just don't think it's all
- 47:54Speaker 1: that important, like whatever. So a lot happens and Evelyn
- 47:59Speaker 1: kind of talk about the reason that she drew away
- 48:03Speaker 1: from her friends. She felt like everyone was keeping this
- 48:07Speaker 1: big secret from her. She was embarrassed, and it really wasn't.
- 48:11Speaker 1: That really wasn't how it was. But she came across
- 48:13Speaker 1: all this information, She's like, everybody knew but me. Does
- 48:17Speaker 1: all work for you in the storyline here? Well, I
- 48:20Speaker 1: mean when you see all of this evidence and then
- 48:22Speaker 1: she sees Cat and she's like Cat's the white Witch.
- 48:24Speaker 1: And then here's Alice in thissposable camera, and then here's
- 48:29Speaker 1: this drawing of Colton from the past, I mean, I
- 48:34Speaker 1: I kind of get it. She's like, you were my
- 48:37Speaker 1: best friends and nobody told me. Nah, I would be like,
- 48:40Speaker 1: tell me, what's happening right now? Yeah, tell me what's happening.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I mean, she had already put it together. She's like,
- 48:45Speaker 1: you're time travelers. I don't know. You didn't buy it.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I know. I just wish it was further explored. I
- 48:53Speaker 1: just think that this part of the story could have
- 48:56Speaker 1: been developed more intimately deep, Like I don't know if
- 49:01Speaker 1: like next season, if there was a fifth season, like
- 49:04Speaker 1: it could have been Yeah, the explaining of it all
- 49:08Speaker 1: or sure how they get there? Sure? Yeah, because Evie's
- 49:12Speaker 1: life is still sort of a mystery. Yeah, like though
- 49:15Speaker 1: there's a lot of years there that we don't know
- 49:18Speaker 1: what happened to her. Yeah, She's like, I had a child,
- 49:21Speaker 1: I had grandchildren, and I got to travel. She's like,
- 49:23Speaker 1: I lived a life. I'm leaving a legacy, and I
- 49:27Speaker 1: appreciate that. I mean, they are trying to wrap it
- 49:29Speaker 1: up as quickly as they can. I would have liked
- 49:31Speaker 1: more of this because it does seem like Evelyn and
- 49:33Speaker 1: Alice are so important to each other. But it was emotional,
- 49:38Speaker 1: and she says this time for you to go, and
- 49:39Speaker 1: Alice is like, just got you back. Yeah, I cried,
- 49:42Speaker 1: but I do I did. I cried here and in
- 49:45Speaker 1: another moment friends in any time, I just thought it
- 49:49Speaker 1: was nice. It was nice. I liked it too, It's
- 49:52Speaker 1: it's kind of hard to make the connection. I did
- 49:55Speaker 1: like how they did this though, but because I was like,
- 49:57Speaker 1: it's kind of hard to make the connection where you
- 49:59Speaker 1: see and this older woman like these moments. But when
- 50:02Speaker 1: they did, like the young Evy, the young Evy with
- 50:07Speaker 1: the young Alice, like that worked from yeah, of course. Yeah.
- 50:10Speaker 1: In another five more minute moment, Dell is ignoring Sam
- 50:14Speaker 1: and Casey walks in and Casey's like, it's my fault,
- 50:17Speaker 1: blame me. I made Sam keep the secrets, and Delle's like,
- 50:20Speaker 1: I forgave Sam in case He's like, then, what's holding
- 50:25Speaker 1: you back? Delle's like I don't know, and case He's like,
- 50:28Speaker 1: I know, this felt rushed totally, but with me, I
- 50:33Speaker 1: know what I'm doing here. And they get to the
- 50:36Speaker 1: summer kickoff of nineteen ninety nine, which is hilarious that
- 50:39Speaker 1: Casey immediately knows couldn't be any other summer kickoff. I know.
- 50:43Speaker 1: I burst into tears, did you. Yeah? When when Casey
- 50:47Speaker 1: takes Dell, I immediately knew and I burst into tears.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Oh my god, I was so emotional. This is overlaid
- 50:55Speaker 1: with a cat getting proposed to, like this flashes back
- 50:59Speaker 1: and forth. Alice Walkskat to her proposal, and then Elliott
- 51:03Speaker 1: proposes and Alice comes out on the porch and she
- 51:06Speaker 1: plays her song Already Home, which I'm glad we got
- 51:08Speaker 1: to see, and of course that's on the soundtrack now.
- 51:11Speaker 1: And then with this song as the soundtrack, we get
- 51:15Speaker 1: Delle getting her as the backing track, we get Delle
- 51:19Speaker 1: getting her five more minutes and she gets to tell
- 51:21Speaker 1: Colton that her children, their children are happy. Yeah, I mean,
- 51:24Speaker 1: I do love that this wish of her comes true
- 51:29Speaker 1: in this moment, like earlier in the season, and she's like, oh,
- 51:31Speaker 1: I wish I could tell Colton that, like his children
- 51:33Speaker 1: are happy, and then that happens. What I have a
- 51:37Speaker 1: hard time. I can't remember the word I want to
- 51:40Speaker 1: use here, but what I have a hard time is
- 51:42Speaker 1: like we've seen Dell in all these moments with Colton
- 51:45Speaker 1: over the last four years. Either if they're memories or
- 51:49Speaker 1: why didn't she do it? Then it's not that she didn't.
- 51:53Speaker 1: It doesn't feel as like earned maybe because we've seen
- 51:58Speaker 1: them together in scenes over the last four years. Yeah,
- 52:02Speaker 1: that's my take on it. It was a beautiful scene.
- 52:04Speaker 1: I love that they got their like little dance and
- 52:07Speaker 1: all that. You know, I'm not a hater. I love
- 52:11Speaker 1: them together. But for me, it wasn't as emotional for me.
- 52:16Speaker 1: I think the reason this scene hits is because a
- 52:20Speaker 1: lot of those moments that we had seen with Dell
- 52:22Speaker 1: and Coleton have to do with their memories, their flashbacks.
- 52:27Speaker 1: This is her getting to tell him before he passes,
- 52:29Speaker 1: to give him the joy of Jacob comes home, which
- 52:32Speaker 1: he already knew. But our kids are happy. Jacob remembers you,
- 52:36Speaker 1: he gets that joy. Yeah, yeah, I mean it's similar
- 52:40Speaker 1: to me of like Fern telling Cliff that exactly she
- 52:45Speaker 1: was pregnant, yes before he dies too. Back. Yikes, it's
- 52:49Speaker 1: little sad. It's a little sad. It is. It is
- 52:52Speaker 1: right back to present day. Dell and Sam. They're all good,
- 52:56Speaker 1: you know. She's like, I'm ready to move on, no secrets,
- 52:59Speaker 1: and Sam's like, well, boy, do I got a story
- 53:01Speaker 1: to tell you. I'm telling you there is a there
- 53:05Speaker 1: is a scene on the cutting room floor about the
- 53:07Speaker 1: coins there. I'm convinced, you know. My feeling about the
- 53:12Speaker 1: coins is that that was just like a nod to Sam,
- 53:15Speaker 1: letting us know before we knew that Sam knows about
- 53:18Speaker 1: time travel? Did you know that we knew that they
- 53:20Speaker 1: knew that. I you know, it's one of those Yeah,
- 53:23Speaker 1: that's kind of my feeling about it now, although I'm
- 53:26Speaker 1: very curious how many things we believed were something actually
- 53:32Speaker 1: were going to be something. Yeah, cut for time, Yeah,
- 53:35Speaker 1: and the coins and the horse must have been among them.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Sad Max returns delivers the line of the episode, saying,
- 53:47Speaker 1: finance Brohood is calling me home. It's a great line.
- 53:50Speaker 1: It's a great line. My question is why why not
- 53:53Speaker 1: just have Max present? Why not why this back and
- 53:56Speaker 1: forth dance? Why can't Max just be like Alice, it's
- 53:59Speaker 1: me and you. Oh well, don't you kind of like
- 54:03Speaker 1: it though that she's like I choose me, like I'm
- 54:05Speaker 1: gonna kiss you, like shout out, we're gonna be together.
- 54:11Speaker 1: But like I also, I'm gonna go do my own thing.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Like I kind of love that. It's not the hallmark
- 54:16Speaker 1: of it all. Yeah, not giving up their futures, like
- 54:19Speaker 1: he's doing whatever he's doing in business school in Toronto.
- 54:21Speaker 1: She's gonna go to New York. But they're agreeing, like
- 54:24Speaker 1: it's you. I know it's you. Yeah, yet that song
- 54:28Speaker 1: was about you and the love that I want, and
- 54:30Speaker 1: the love that I want is you. Didn't we talk
- 54:32Speaker 1: about this at some point, like is it weird that
- 54:35Speaker 1: Jacob is marrying Abby Goodwin and then potentially Alice and
- 54:40Speaker 1: Max Goodwin are Yeah, yes, that's a little bit weird,
- 54:43Speaker 1: but but not you know, yeah, I'm not the weirdest.
- 54:47Speaker 1: I mean, those families are gonna be tied together forever
- 54:50Speaker 1: and ever. Amen. And of course next seas it all
- 54:54Speaker 1: this is so creepy to me. Nick is so creepy. Yeah,
- 54:57Speaker 1: like stop coming out from mind the boat, like be
- 54:59Speaker 1: like creeper watching go Away. Yeah, Like Nick had a
- 55:05Speaker 1: little bit of redemption for me this season when he
- 55:07Speaker 1: was Spats. I loved all that, so fun. But the
- 55:10Speaker 1: real why he's like creeping around though I know he's
- 55:13Speaker 1: not creeping. He's like they're looking at the boat or whatever.
- 55:16Speaker 1: But he's always like stumbling onto these moments where he
- 55:19Speaker 1: sees Alice being vulnerable. Yeah. Yeah, it's a theme of
- 55:23Speaker 1: this whole series, and it is a little bit creepy.
- 55:27Speaker 1: And we never meet Claire. I'm I have to feel
- 55:31Speaker 1: that Claire was one of those stories that was cut
- 55:33Speaker 1: for time, and Alie's like, am I ever going to
- 55:36Speaker 1: meet her? And he's like, you will someday, and he
- 55:38Speaker 1: gives this look right now it's you. No, you're clartre.
- 55:44Speaker 1: No do you believe that? No? I don't. There are
- 55:48Speaker 1: There is a very large contingent of people who believe that. Really,
- 55:52Speaker 1: a lot of people. I do not believe that. I
- 55:55Speaker 1: think this was much like the Thomas Winkin a No
- 55:58Speaker 1: to the Tomcat. This was like, we're that's a fun
- 56:01Speaker 1: one to leave out there. It's not consequential to the
- 56:03Speaker 1: rest of the stories we're telling. We're just gonna leave
- 56:07Speaker 1: Let that lie. Let people still wonder. I like that
- 56:10Speaker 1: because they've definitely seen people guess that. I don't believe
- 56:15Speaker 1: that that is true at all. Yeah, I don't believe
- 56:17Speaker 1: it either. Elliott and Kat talking about the clock and
- 56:20Speaker 1: he's like, it's the one thing I don't understand. I'm like, Elliott,
- 56:22Speaker 1: I got some more questions, but okay, let's talk about
- 56:24Speaker 1: the clock. And then he's like, wait a minute, when
- 56:28Speaker 1: she died in the explosion, we didn't know in the
- 56:31Speaker 1: house she's quoting died. Yeah, it's my air quotes again.
- 56:35Speaker 1: This is one of those things. So they make a
- 56:36Speaker 1: statement that we are just to assume is true. They're
- 56:38Speaker 1: jumping to a conclusion that we don't have any proof
- 56:40Speaker 1: for He's like, well, she must have put the clock
- 56:42Speaker 1: in the wall after nineteen twenty six to let me
- 56:44Speaker 1: know that she's still alive, because I had asked about
- 56:46Speaker 1: the clock and she didn't say she put the clock
- 56:47Speaker 1: in the wall. So she must have been the one.
- 56:49Speaker 1: She must have come back and bought the house and
- 56:51Speaker 1: got it back into the Augustine name, and she puts
- 56:53Speaker 1: the clock in the wall. She must still be alive.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Mystery solved. I guess, well, this freaking clock to two seasons.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Two seasons. We at one point thought this clock was
- 57:04Speaker 1: the portal to the future. Yeah, and its the Beautiful Dreamer,
- 57:09Speaker 1: which is a song that Fern sings. Yeah, I don't
- 57:11Speaker 1: understand that eleven eleven of it all. Come on, I
- 57:14Speaker 1: don't understand portal to the future. Remember, but we have
- 57:24Speaker 1: like this Scooby Doo explanation. Yeah, it just lets him
- 57:29Speaker 1: live with hope. I guess that she's still out out
- 57:31Speaker 1: there somewhere, but she's she's still in the twenties. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 57:37Speaker 1: you know yeah, but maybe that's okay with him, maybe
- 57:41Speaker 1: knowing that he got to reconnect with her, they got
- 57:43Speaker 1: to have their five more minutes, she got to meet
- 57:47Speaker 1: him as an adult. Maybe he's okay with Tessa thinks
- 57:52Speaker 1: she killed her son, Yeah right, yeah, yeah, she doesn't
- 58:00Speaker 1: know that he survived that not a fern things, he died. Yeah,
- 58:07Speaker 1: so why would she go back and put the clock
- 58:09Speaker 1: in the wall. Hmm, I don't know. Maybe I don't
- 58:15Speaker 1: know somebody. Well, maybe Tessen knows that he's the one
- 58:18Speaker 1: that didn't come out, so she doesn't know that he's dead.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Maybe she's holding out hope. Maybe okay, maybe she's holding
- 58:24Speaker 1: out hope anything as possible. Alice is going back to
- 58:28Speaker 1: school and another scene that's rush. Jacob's like this feels
- 58:32Speaker 1: like a joke to me when he's like, I wish
- 58:36Speaker 1: I had a ring that had historical significance like Elliott
- 58:39Speaker 1: did for Cat. I wish I had an old, convenient ring,
- 58:46Speaker 1: and Alice is like, what about this one? The one
- 58:50Speaker 1: that my dad gave my mom? So weird and they're
- 58:52Speaker 1: divorced now, like they did not have a great love story. Yeah,
- 58:57Speaker 1: that's weird. My dad kind of sucks you this ring
- 59:00Speaker 1: that he bought. And then oh and it's like memory, memory, memory,
- 59:06Speaker 1: that's how Casey gets the rink. Casey is my child.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Why they hadn't come to that conclusion yet? This has
- 59:13Speaker 1: to both of them, This has to be another There's
- 59:16Speaker 1: no way this revelation was going to come that quickly.
- 59:20Speaker 1: I wrote in my notes. Duh, we've been saying this
- 59:23Speaker 1: since Casey emerged. Well, no, we didn't. But it was
- 59:27Speaker 1: obvious to me this year that Casey was the child. Sure, absolutely.
- 59:33Speaker 1: And now we are at port Haven in the future
- 59:35Speaker 1: and it's Jacob and Abbey's wedding. Why are we getting
- 59:37Speaker 1: married in the woods? Why by the are they getting
- 59:39Speaker 1: married in the by the pond? Yes, okay, I have questions.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Ta come out of the pond. There's like lantern strung
- 59:44Speaker 1: down there. You're right, but here I have questions. Let's
- 59:49Speaker 1: go back to that future scene in episode one, season four,
- 59:54Speaker 1: when the three Landry women are talking about they wish
- 59:58Speaker 1: somebody was there? Who? Thank you? That was poetic time me.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Who who do they wish was there? The only person
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: who is not there as a living human is Colton?
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Why is it never readdressed in this episode? Like? Why
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: is that scene not showing again? It's a great question.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Cut for time, cut for time? Don't you have to
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: assume cut for time or explanation. Maybe it was the
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: story was because it was enough of a leap. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: maybe maybe the explanation is different. I don't know, because
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: whoever's wedding, it could be maybe they were going to
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: kill Elliott. I don't know, but I assume now we're
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: to believe that it's Coulton. Okay, so all of the
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: ghosts of the past, but here in those Coulton is
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: there at yes, and they all this is the weird thing.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Sam is officiating the wedding of Jacob and Abbey, goes Colton, peers,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Thomas and Susannah up here, Fern and Cliff are there,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Alice sees Evelyn. It seems like they all see these
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: people like they look It looks like they're smiling at them,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: like they're like making eye contact with these people, these
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: historical family members. Is it a story that we are
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: meant to believe that this is a visual representation of
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: them feeling all of these important I think so in
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: their past, Yes, I think so. So they're like infused
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: with like I know he's here with us. Yeah, Fern
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: and Cliff are here with of course Casey appears to
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: actually be there, not as a ghost as a time
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: are they hiding? Casey's hiding not up at the altar?
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Like who to are you? Because it is this person
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: at our wedding and I don't know who they are. Okay,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: you know how I said I thought Elliott died. I
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: thought Elliott died in this scene right up until the
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: second they flash on him, because they wait to show him.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: They do not show Elliott until they've shown all the
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: other ghosts. I am. So it's so interesting that you
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: were still hung up thought Elliott was dead. Yeah. I
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: was waiting for a gotcha. But they wait to show
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: Elliott because I thought that that scene with Kat saying
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: I wish he were here, she was talking about Elliott
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: because of course her dad's not going to be here.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: He's been dead for twenty years. Yeah, so the loss
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: of Elliott is fresh. I thought maybe he like develops
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: some sort of yeah, like that pulmonary embolism and dies Mayett.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: It's not crazy. Did you watch er Did you see
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: what they did to poor Lucy? No, if you're talking
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: about Kelly, Martin, I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: It all right, anyway, if you know, you know, all
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: I'm saying is I thought Elliott was going to die.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: They wait until the very end. You can kind of
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: see someone standing next to Cap, but they do not
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: show Elliott's face until the they've shown all these ghosts
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: and then they show Elliott. I think I think they
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: wanted us to believe that maybe Elliott died. So maybe
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: their original story was Elliott was supposed to die. Maybe,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: and that ties back to that conversation in episode one.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: And then they're like, well we got instead of explaining
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: that Elliott lives, and here he is standing next to Cat.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know. I'm sad but happy this show
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: is over. And then Cat and Alice jump one last time.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Oh we forgot to even mention that my bad Cat
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Alice have this moment about like every new beginning is
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: some other beginnings in It's like they're addicts. They cannot
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: stop from jumping, right, yeah, Cat in their wedding clothes, like,
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: just enjoy the wedding. Live in the moment, ladies, let's
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: go see what's out there. I was looking for you.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: They haven't cut the cake. Yet, Oh well, let's Joy's
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: like Loynger sister and Nisco like they're just gone six wedding.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Guess it'd be nice if they were here. I literally
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: have one. Is Max even there? I don't think so.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: I don't think Max is. Max isn't there? Even Max
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: is like literally only her dad is there. That's it.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: She gets one. Guest, if Max is there, you can
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: yell at us in the comments, the poor Goodwin family
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: has been boiled down to like Abby and Lewis. That's it,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: that's the legacy. Dell's like Catherine. That should have been
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: the final ending of the episode, Delle looking around realizing
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: they're gone and going, Gatherine, oh my goodness. Do you
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: feel like with them jumping in this scene that they
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: of course are leaving it, leaving it open. Part of
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: me was like, okay, my conse nose on. I was like,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: please Netflix, pick it up. I would watch it. But
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: then on the other side of it, part of me
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: is really sad that the show has ended because it's
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: been so enjoyable, and I think, honestly, I think I'm
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: going to give it a little bit of time and
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: go back and watch the entire series again, just as
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: a viewer, see what I see watching it, enjoying it.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: For me personally, though, Megan, this has been the hardest
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: show to cover well on the last year and a half.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: I don't think it was that hard at the beginning.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Did you go back and listen to the episode that
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: we did? Did you? No? I did? It was good
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: because I was worried that, oh it was a hot mess.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Uh uh oh good. I didn't me tune our on NORN.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: I thought it was good. We just got a really
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: nice email from a listener who was appreciative of our
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: podcast and covering. Oh that's nice. I haven't been looking
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: at any of the emails because I've been waiting until
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: we pull them. Yeah. That's nice. Yeah, but we'll cover
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: it in more detail when do mail bag. Well, speaking
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: of mail bag, we will be doing one final listener
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: mailbag episode. Yes, we will be recording that episode Thursday
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: morning this week, So get those emails in by Wednesday night.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: If I see you come in right before Thursday, I
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: will get them added. But today and tomorrow send in
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: those emails so we can do one final listener mail
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: bag about this series until season five, and that episode
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: will come out on Friday of this week. So we
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: have seen your emails. They're sitting there. We're gonna pull
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: them all together for one big, bad listener mail bag
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: episode this week. And I want to thank the listeners
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: for participating in those because that has added a whole
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: other layer to these reviews, to these reviews and our
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: community and like just being like just part of this
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: like little network. Honestly to the way home listener mail
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: bags last year were the launch of listener mail bags. Yeah,
