- 0:00Speaker 1: From our archives, the Billy Graham classics.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Now tonight I want you to turn with me to
- 0:09Speaker 2: the nineteenth chapter of Luke's Gospel. The nineteenth chapter, Jesus
- 0:14Speaker 2: is passing through Jericho at this point in scripture, and
- 0:18Speaker 2: a blind man screamed out and said, Jesus, thou son
- 0:23Speaker 2: of David, have mercy upon me. And Jesus touched him
- 0:26Speaker 2: and he was healed. And now he's passing right through
- 0:30Speaker 2: the middle of Jericho. And another incident happens at the
- 0:34Speaker 2: same time, and Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. And
- 0:38Speaker 2: behold there was a man named Zacheus, which was the
- 0:41Speaker 2: chief among the publicans, and he was very rich, and
- 0:45Speaker 2: he sought to see Jesus who he was, and he
- 0:48Speaker 2: could not for the press that means the press of
- 0:51Speaker 2: the crowd. That doesn't mean the media, because he was
- 0:54Speaker 2: little of stature.
- 0:56Speaker 3: And he ran before and climbed.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he
- 1:01Speaker 2: was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to
- 1:05Speaker 2: the place, he looked up and saw him and said
- 1:07Speaker 2: to him, zach Chius, make haste come down, for today
- 1:12Speaker 2: I'm going to abide at your house and he made haste,
- 1:15Speaker 2: and he came down, and he received him joyfully.
- 1:18Speaker 3: And when they saw it.
- 1:19Speaker 2: They all murmured and saying that he was gone to
- 1:23Speaker 2: be the guest with a man who's a sinner. And
- 1:25Speaker 2: Zachius stood and said, unto the Lord, the O Lord,
- 1:30Speaker 2: half of all my goods, I'm going to give it
- 1:32Speaker 2: to the poor. And if I've taken anything from any
- 1:36Speaker 2: man by false.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Accusation, I restore fourfold.
- 1:41Speaker 2: And Jesus said into him this day, this day is salvation.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Come to this house for as much as he also
- 1:50Speaker 2: is a son of Abraham. For the son of Man
- 1:53Speaker 2: is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
- 1:57Speaker 2: The son of Man is come to seek and save
- 2:04Speaker 2: that which was lost. And there are thousands of people
- 2:07Speaker 2: here tonight that are lost. You're not lost from your
- 2:11Speaker 2: parents so much, or lost from your friends. You're lost
- 2:14Speaker 2: from God. You're separated from God. And Jesus has come
- 2:19Speaker 2: to sink you out. And he sought out Zachius. And
- 2:23Speaker 2: I'll tell you the story as Jesus was passing through Jericho.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Now you see, Zachius was a public one. That meant
- 2:31Speaker 2: that he was a tax gatherer.
- 2:33Speaker 3: He worked for Rome.
- 2:34Speaker 2: He was rich, he was despised. He was a social outcast.
- 2:38Speaker 2: The people didn't like the tax gatherers gathering taxes for
- 2:42Speaker 2: a foreign country that dominated them. And if Jesus had
- 2:46Speaker 2: considered public opinion, he would have never once glanced at
- 2:51Speaker 2: zach Chius. But Jesus never considered public opinion. The scripture
- 2:56Speaker 2: says that on all occasions Jesus made of himself no reputation.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And I imagine it had been many months since anyone
- 3:06Speaker 2: had ever cross voluntarily into Zachius' house. A man of
- 3:11Speaker 2: great riches, but he was a lonely man. He was
- 3:14Speaker 2: a hated man. He was avoided almost everybody in town.
- 3:19Speaker 2: But his curiosity got the best of him. He wanted
- 3:22Speaker 2: to see Jesus. He had possibly heard about Jesus, and
- 3:25Speaker 2: he had heard them call him many names. Some people
- 3:28Speaker 2: had called Jesus a devil, some said he was a fanatic,
- 3:32Speaker 2: some said he was a blasphema, some said he was
- 3:34Speaker 2: a heretic, some said he was a prophet, some said
- 3:37Speaker 2: he was impostor, and many said that he was actually
- 3:41Speaker 2: the son of God. So naturally, Zachius had a tremendous
- 3:45Speaker 2: curiosity to see Jesus. But you see to see Jesus.
- 3:50Speaker 2: He had some obstacles in the way to get to Jesus.
- 3:53Speaker 2: There was the press of the crowd, a big crowd,
- 3:56Speaker 2: and he was a little fella, and to try to
- 3:58Speaker 2: push his way through that crowd God was very difficult.
- 4:02Speaker 3: And he was also small of stature.
- 4:05Speaker 2: He was a very small man, and to get through
- 4:08Speaker 2: the crowd was almost an impossibility. Because everybody wanted to
- 4:12Speaker 2: get close to Jesus. And many of you would like
- 4:16Speaker 2: to know Jesus, and you'd like to get close to Jesus,
- 4:19Speaker 2: and you'd like to have Jesus in.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Your heart, and you'd like to have salvation. But you
- 4:24Speaker 3: face many obstacles. What are they. Let's just list a
- 4:28Speaker 3: few of them that you face. First is pride.
- 4:31Speaker 2: The Bible teaches that pride keeps more people from Christ
- 4:34Speaker 2: than any other sin. The sin of pride, the Bible says,
- 4:39Speaker 2: God resisteth the proud, but give it grace under the humble.
- 4:43Speaker 2: The Bible says, if any man among you seem it
- 4:46Speaker 2: to be wise in this world, let him become a fool,
- 4:49Speaker 2: that he may be wise. Jesus said, we had to
- 4:53Speaker 2: become his little children to be converted. And if you
- 4:56Speaker 2: had to get close to Christ and have Christ.
- 4:58Speaker 3: In your heart. You may be wise, but you must
- 5:02Speaker 3: become a fool. You must become as a child.
- 5:08Speaker 2: You see, we're all proud and we don't like to
- 5:11Speaker 2: humble ourselves. And then the second thing that keeps us
- 5:14Speaker 2: from Christ is idolatry. And idolatry is another sin all
- 5:18Speaker 2: the way through the scriptures that is mentioned as keeping
- 5:20Speaker 2: more people from God than almost any other sin. And
- 5:25Speaker 2: our idolatry is very unique in our day because we
- 5:28Speaker 2: worship ourselves, we worship man. Whether we realize it or not,
- 5:37Speaker 2: we're worshiping ourselves. The things that we've created, the things
- 5:40Speaker 2: we've made with our hands, whether it's a television center,
- 5:44Speaker 2: a new automobile, materialism, all of these things have become gods.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And God is his sex has become a goddess just
- 5:53Speaker 2: as much as it was in the days of Ephesis,
- 5:55Speaker 2: on the days of Rome. These are the modern gods.
- 6:01Speaker 2: And the scripture says idolatry those that commit it shall
- 6:04Speaker 2: have their part in the lake which burneth with fire
- 6:07Speaker 2: and brimstone, which is the second death. In Revelation twenty
- 6:10Speaker 2: one to eight, God hates idolatry. And then the third
- 6:15Speaker 2: thing that may keep some of you from Christ's worldness.
- 6:19Speaker 2: For what is a man profited if he shall gain
- 6:22Speaker 2: the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what
- 6:25Speaker 2: shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Said
- 6:28Speaker 2: Jesus in Matthew sixteen. There are many of you that
- 6:32Speaker 2: are selling your soul, your eternal spirit, for a little bit.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Of this world. But Jesus said, suppose you've got all the.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Oil of the Middle East, all the gold in South Africa,
- 6:43Speaker 2: all the diamonds in Holland, all the wealth of the
- 6:48Speaker 2: whole world, and you had it all, all the music,
- 6:52Speaker 2: all the culture, all the philosophy, all the psychology of
- 6:55Speaker 2: the world.
- 6:56Speaker 3: You had it all and lost your soul. It wouldn't
- 7:01Speaker 3: be worth it.
- 7:02Speaker 2: And yet you are losing your soul for just a
- 7:05Speaker 2: little bit of it.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Now, that doesn't mean that you're not to have money.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Nowhere in the Bible does God condemn a wealthy man
- 7:14Speaker 2: unless he misuses it, or unless he got it the
- 7:17Speaker 2: wrong way, then he's condemned.
- 7:20Speaker 3: But the Bible says, know ye not, that friendship with
- 7:22Speaker 3: the world.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Is enmity with God. Who suffer therefore will be a
- 7:26Speaker 2: friend of the world. Is the enemy of God. Now
- 7:28Speaker 2: what does that word world mean. It's cosmos. It means
- 7:31Speaker 2: a world system dominated by evil.
- 7:34Speaker 3: That evil part of the.
- 7:36Speaker 2: World's system in which we live. Friendship with that means
- 7:40Speaker 2: enmity with God. And God says, come out from among them,
- 7:44Speaker 2: and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not.
- 7:46Speaker 3: The unclean thing world.
- 7:49Speaker 2: And this in the New Testament meant the relationship that
- 7:52Speaker 2: people had with their social environment.
- 7:56Speaker 3: We are to be separated from the evils of the world.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And now perhaps you saw those huge pictures on television
- 8:04Speaker 2: a few months ago of some forty quails who for
- 8:07Speaker 2: some unknown biological reason beats themselves and die. They left
- 8:12Speaker 2: their living environment for want of death and die. And
- 8:17Speaker 2: many of you have left the environment of living in
- 8:20Speaker 2: the scriptures and living for God and gone out into
- 8:23Speaker 2: the world.
- 8:23Speaker 3: And your soul is dead toward God.
- 8:27Speaker 2: It's like the lemming in Scandinavia. They band together and
- 8:30Speaker 2: for some unknown reason, walk down into the ocean and die.
- 8:36Speaker 2: You deliberately bring on your own spiritual death. You promote
- 8:40Speaker 2: your own eternal death by going with the evils of
- 8:44Speaker 2: the world round about you, and the world round about
- 8:47Speaker 2: you squeezes you into its mold, and it becomes a
- 8:50Speaker 2: hindrance to you coming to Jesus Christ, because the Bible
- 8:54Speaker 2: says you're going to have to give up the wrong
- 8:56Speaker 2: things that are in the world, the lust and the greed,
- 9:00Speaker 2: and the hate and the prejudice and the materialism. Part
- 9:06Speaker 2: of the world that's wrong you have to turn from
- 9:09Speaker 2: when you come to Christ. And that's the reason it's
- 9:12Speaker 2: so hard to follow Christ in the modern day.
- 9:16Speaker 3: It's not easy to be a Christian. I'm not going
- 9:18Speaker 3: to fool you.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I would think it's more difficult to be a Christian
- 9:22Speaker 2: right now in modern America or modern Western world than
- 9:30Speaker 2: any other part of the world you see. To be
- 9:34Speaker 2: a Christian in some parts of the Orient or some
- 9:36Speaker 2: parts of the world, you have to really stand for
- 9:39Speaker 2: Christ and you have to suffer. But in a country
- 9:44Speaker 2: where there's no suffering and no physical persecution, it's rather
- 9:47Speaker 2: easy just to slide.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Along really not knowing Christ.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Calling yourself a Christian, but not really being a Christian,
- 9:56Speaker 2: not a.
- 9:56Speaker 3: New Testament Christian. And there are thousands of people like
- 9:59Speaker 3: that that.
- 10:00Speaker 2: On the Church all their lives had been baptized and confirmed,
- 10:03Speaker 2: but still not knowing Christ.
- 10:11Speaker 3: And then another obstacle are secret sins. The Bible says.
- 10:16Speaker 3: The Psalmist prayed cleanse thou me from secret faults, and
- 10:20Speaker 3: Paul wrote to the Romans the day.
- 10:22Speaker 2: When God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ,
- 10:27Speaker 2: you can keep no secrets from God. Your friends don't
- 10:29Speaker 2: know anything about them. Your family may not even know.
- 10:33Speaker 2: But you know, and God has been speaking to you
- 10:37Speaker 2: about them. It's like the Incredible Hulk on television. I
- 10:41Speaker 2: think I've seen it once, maybe twice, but I read
- 10:44Speaker 2: about it, and if I understand it correctly, it's trying
- 10:47Speaker 2: to get rid of the person inside of him always.
- 10:52Speaker 2: And perhaps you've been battling with the hidden man in
- 10:55Speaker 2: your heart with your secret sins.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Confess them to Christ tonight, come to the cross and
- 11:02Speaker 3: bring those secrets of your heart and lay them before
- 11:04Speaker 3: him and say, Lord, here they are. I surrender.
- 11:10Speaker 2: And then self righteousness is another thing that keeps people
- 11:14Speaker 2: from Christ. There is a generation, the Bible says, that
- 11:17Speaker 2: are pure in their own eyes, and yet they have
- 11:20Speaker 2: not been washed from their filthiness, pure in our own eyes,
- 11:26Speaker 2: patting each other on the back, saying we're good, when
- 11:29Speaker 2: actually we're bad, saying we're good when actually we're sinning
- 11:35Speaker 2: and breaking God's laws. That keeps us from Christ's self righteousness.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Now we've seen the obstacles, let's look at Jesus.
- 11:45Speaker 3: It's a personal call.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Jesus turns to Zacheus and calls him by name. He
- 11:51Speaker 2: sees Zachius up the tree. You see, Zachius had climbed
- 11:54Speaker 2: a sycamore tree and was out on the limb, sitting
- 11:57Speaker 2: there watching Jesus. And all of a sudden, the most
- 12:01Speaker 2: unpopular man in town, the most hated man in town,
- 12:04Speaker 2: the most sinful man in town. Here's his name, called
- 12:07Speaker 2: by the great prophet Jesus.
- 12:11Speaker 3: And Jesus says that yours.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Can you imagine how startled he was that out of
- 12:17Speaker 2: all that crowd and those religious leaders, he the worst
- 12:21Speaker 2: sinner in town, called by his name. The Bible says,
- 12:26Speaker 2: Jesus is the good shepherd. He calleth his own.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Sheep by name, and leadeth them.
- 12:32Speaker 2: In Genesis, we read that God came in the garden
- 12:34Speaker 2: of Eden personally to call Adam.
- 12:37Speaker 3: He said, Adam, Adam, where art thou?
- 12:42Speaker 2: And later he called Abraham, He said, Abraham, Jacob, Moses,
- 12:50Speaker 2: Joshua get in Samuel, David, Solomon.
- 12:57Speaker 3: He called them all.
- 12:58Speaker 2: By name, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, he called him by name.
- 13:06Speaker 3: And then when the Lord.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Jesus Christ came, he called his disciples by name. He
- 13:11Speaker 2: went down for the sea shore, and he called out Simon.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Peter, Andrew, James.
- 13:21Speaker 2: John, and from the receipt of custom, another man like
- 13:27Speaker 2: zach kias a tax gatherer.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Matthew, come and follow me.
- 13:32Speaker 2: And he rose and followed Jesus immediately. And on the
- 13:36Speaker 2: Damascus road he said, Saul, Saul, Saul, why do you
- 13:40Speaker 2: persecute me? And on the isle of Patnas, he said, John,
- 13:47Speaker 2: he called you by name.
- 13:49Speaker 3: What is your name? Jim, Mary, Susie, Peter. He called
- 13:54Speaker 3: you by name tonight. He knows your name, he knows
- 13:57Speaker 3: all about you. And he called you, and he says, Mary,
- 14:01Speaker 3: get up out of your seat and come and receive me. Tonight.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I want to come into your house and into your heart.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Jim, you need me, you know you need me to
- 14:11Speaker 2: help you, to forgive you, to take you to Heaven.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Get up out of your seat and come. He called
- 14:16Speaker 3: you by name.
- 14:19Speaker 2: He looked up in the tree and said zach Kis.
- 14:22Speaker 2: And he was an urgent call. He said, zach Kis,
- 14:25Speaker 2: make haste. Hurry. We don't have long.
- 14:30Speaker 3: And that's what he says to you. Hurry, make haste.
- 14:34Speaker 3: If you're going to come to Christ, come now. You
- 14:37Speaker 3: may never have another moment like this.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Nowhere does the Bible promise tomorrow you can be saved.
- 14:43Speaker 3: It's today.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Today is the day of salvation. Now is the accepted time.
- 14:47Speaker 2: There may not be a tomorrow for you. There's a
- 14:52Speaker 2: little verse in your.
- 14:53Speaker 3: National anthem that sometimes I miss when I hear.
- 14:58Speaker 2: It sung, and it's a beautiful Oh Lord, our God,
- 15:02Speaker 2: arise on thee our hoops we fix. God save us
- 15:07Speaker 2: all tonight. That would be my prayer for you, God
- 15:12Speaker 2: save us all. And that's what our Lord Jesus came
- 15:17Speaker 2: to seek and to save that which is lost. Today
- 15:22Speaker 2: he's urgently calling you by name. And it was a
- 15:25Speaker 2: successful call because Zachis did make haste.
- 15:29Speaker 3: You know what he did. He didn't wait to climb
- 15:33Speaker 3: down the tree. He jumped and Dial Moody, the.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Evangelist of the last century, said that Zachis was converted
- 15:40Speaker 2: from the limb to the ground. And I expect that's
- 15:44Speaker 2: about truth. The rich young ruler came to Jesus. He
- 15:49Speaker 2: fell down before Jesus. He was running to Jesus, making
- 15:52Speaker 2: haste to get to Jesus, and he got to Jesus,
- 15:54Speaker 2: but he couldn't pay the price, and he was lost,
- 15:59Speaker 2: even though Jesus loved him, and Jesus tried, and Jesus
- 16:02Speaker 2: talked with him and gave him precious time.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Yet that young man never came to Jesus.
- 16:09Speaker 2: But Zachius, the great Sinner, did come to Jesus, and
- 16:13Speaker 2: Jesus went to Zachius home.
- 16:16Speaker 3: And you know what I think.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I think that Jesus probably took Matthew with him, and
- 16:23Speaker 2: I expect that Matthew and Zachius got into a conversation
- 16:26Speaker 2: late into the night, and Matthew told him about his
- 16:30Speaker 2: own experience, how he had been also a tax gatherer,
- 16:34Speaker 2: how he had been a sinner, and how Jesus had
- 16:36Speaker 2: called him by name, and he said, follow me, and
- 16:41Speaker 2: Matthew said, I got up right then and followed him.
- 16:43Speaker 2: And I've never regretted one minute of it.
- 16:48Speaker 3: He changed my life.
- 16:50Speaker 2: He's given me assurance, he's blessed my family, he's brought
- 16:54Speaker 2: our family together.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Oh, I die for him.
- 16:59Speaker 2: I've given in my life, and Zachias heard them, and
- 17:04Speaker 2: I imagine that Matthew told him that night. You know, Zachius,
- 17:08Speaker 2: if you come to Christ, if you come to Jesus,
- 17:11Speaker 2: you're going to have to make some restitution.
- 17:15Speaker 3: You're going to have to change your.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Whole way of living, and you're going to have to
- 17:19Speaker 2: declare openly your allegiance for Jesus Christ.
- 17:25Speaker 3: We have to be in the world, but not of it.
- 17:30Speaker 3: We live in two worlds. We live in this.
- 17:32Speaker 2: World, but we're also citizens of another world, the Kingdom
- 17:36Speaker 2: of Heaven, and our first allegiance is always to the
- 17:40Speaker 2: Kingdom of Heaven. Yes, I imagine Matthew told him all of
- 17:45Speaker 2: those things.
- 17:46Speaker 3: What was the result.
- 17:48Speaker 2: The result was that Zachius received Christ. Now, receiving Christ
- 17:53Speaker 2: involves an act.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Of faith beyond mere human reason.
- 17:58Speaker 2: The Bible says, the natural man received if not the
- 18:00Speaker 2: things of the Spirit of God for their foolishness under him,
- 18:04Speaker 2: neither can he know them, because they're spiritually deserned. In
- 18:09Speaker 2: other words, a natural person like you just cannot come
- 18:13Speaker 2: and reason his way to the Kingdom of God. You
- 18:15Speaker 2: cannot reason your way to Christ. I don't imagine zach
- 18:18Speaker 2: he has sat down and went through all the philosophy
- 18:22Speaker 2: and all the theological debates about Jesus. He just joyfully
- 18:28Speaker 2: received him by faith, simply like a little child. And
- 18:33Speaker 2: Jesus received him and forgave him. You see, Christ is
- 18:38Speaker 2: knocking on our heart's door tonight. He's asking people like
- 18:43Speaker 2: you to receive him. And they accused him of saying
- 18:48Speaker 2: They accused him by saying, this man receiveth sinners.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Are you a sinner? Have you broken God's law? I'm
- 18:56Speaker 3: a sinner? Are you sure you are?
- 19:00Speaker 2: He receiveth sinners. Isn't that a wonderful thing? That he
- 19:04Speaker 2: receiveth sinners? And when I stand and if they should
- 19:10Speaker 2: ask me at the gates of heaven.
- 19:12Speaker 3: When I die, what is the password? I'm going to say.
- 19:16Speaker 2: I'm here by the grace and the mercy of God
- 19:18Speaker 2: because of what Jesus Christ did on the cross. I'm
- 19:20Speaker 2: not here by any good works Billy Graham ever did.
- 19:22Speaker 2: I'm not going to heaven because I've preached in a
- 19:25Speaker 2: big stadium full of people like this tonight. I'm not
- 19:28Speaker 2: going to heaven because I've read the Bible. I'm not
- 19:30Speaker 2: going to heaven because I prayed. I'm not going to
- 19:32Speaker 2: heaven because of a wonderful Christian wife and five Christian children.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I'm going to heaven because of the grace and the
- 19:40Speaker 2: mercy of God. I'm a sinner. I deserve judgment, I
- 19:43Speaker 2: deserve hell. I'm going because of Christ. And I have
- 19:46Speaker 2: received Christ. I've let him come into my heart and
- 19:49Speaker 2: I've come to the cross.
- 19:51Speaker 3: He's forgiven my sin.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I have eternal life. I know I'm saved tonight. I
- 19:56Speaker 2: know where I've come from, I know why I'm here,
- 19:58Speaker 2: I know where I'm going.
- 20:00Speaker 3: And if he should come tonight, I'm ready. Do you
- 20:05Speaker 3: know that? Are you sure about that?
- 20:07Speaker 2: This man receiveth sinners, but as many as received him to.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Them, gave him power to become the sons of.
- 20:13Speaker 2: God, even to them that believe on his name. You
- 20:17Speaker 2: receive him and let him come into your life, and
- 20:19Speaker 2: you'll find what it means to be joyful without Christ
- 20:24Speaker 2: to fill that empty void in your life.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Nothing else satisfies. Sex doesn't do it, Drugs doesn't do.
- 20:31Speaker 2: It, Power, popularity, all of that is nothing.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Christ is everything.
- 20:38Speaker 2: And then when you have Christ, you're ready to live
- 20:40Speaker 2: here and now life for a capital l When you
- 20:44Speaker 2: really know Christ as your savior, yes, Zychius received Christ joyfully.
- 20:53Speaker 3: I notice another thing.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Zachius openly confessed Christ publicly in front of all of
- 21:00Speaker 2: his friends in the whole town. And he said, I've
- 21:03Speaker 2: been wrong, I've been a sinner. I'm ready to restore
- 21:09Speaker 2: everything I ever did, if necessary, whatever it takes. From
- 21:13Speaker 2: now on, I'm following Jesus Christ. He is my Lord,
- 21:17Speaker 2: and he is my savior. He came to seek and
- 21:19Speaker 2: to save me in this town of Jericho.
- 21:23Speaker 3: He came to.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Halifax in the form of this crusade to seek and
- 21:26Speaker 2: to save you. And he calls you by name, and
- 21:31Speaker 2: he says, make haste, come while there's time.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Because you see, the scripture says.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Whose siver denieth the son the same hath not the father?
- 21:41Speaker 2: He that confesseth the son openly hath the Father.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Also also the.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Scripture says, whos server shall confess that Jesus is the
- 21:49Speaker 2: Son of God, do well within him and he in God.
- 21:52Speaker 3: And Jesus said, if you deny.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Me before men, if you deny me publicly, I'll not
- 21:58Speaker 2: confess you before my father, which is in heaven. You
- 22:00Speaker 2: see Jesus Christ hung on the cross publicly in front
- 22:04Speaker 2: of hundreds of people dying bleeding for you, and he
- 22:09Speaker 2: asks you to publicly receive him.
- 22:12Speaker 3: And I'm going to ask you to do that in
- 22:13Speaker 3: a moment. There are three things you have to do.
- 22:17Speaker 2: First, listen to this so you can never stand at
- 22:20Speaker 2: the judgment and say I never knew. First, you must
- 22:23Speaker 2: repent of your sin. How do you repent? The word
- 22:27Speaker 2: repent means to change your mind. It means to turn.
- 22:30Speaker 2: You're going in this direction in your life, you turn
- 22:32Speaker 2: around and start in a new direction. Now you may
- 22:35Speaker 2: not be able to turn by yourself. In fact, you can't.
- 22:38Speaker 3: You have to say, Lord, help me to turn, help
- 22:40Speaker 3: me to repent.
- 22:41Speaker 2: It means that you're willing to let Christ come into
- 22:43Speaker 2: your life and help you change your whole pattern of living,
- 22:46Speaker 2: your lifestyle, everything if necessary. And then the second thing,
- 22:51Speaker 2: by faith you receiving. Now that word faith may cause
- 22:56Speaker 2: you to stumble. It means that you commit that you
- 22:59Speaker 2: so renda your total life to Jesus Christ. You're not
- 23:04Speaker 2: trusting any other God, You're not trusting any other religion.
- 23:07Speaker 2: You're not trusting anything but Jesus Christ and him alone.
- 23:12Speaker 3: To save you.
- 23:14Speaker 2: That's faith, total commitment to Christ. And then thirdly, you're
- 23:21Speaker 2: willing to follow him. You're willing to be his disciple. Now,
- 23:24Speaker 2: the word disciple means learner or discipline. It means discipline learning.
- 23:30Speaker 2: You're following him, growing in the grace and knowledge of
- 23:33Speaker 2: Christ by studying the Bible, by prayer, by witnessing, by
- 23:39Speaker 2: tendenc at church. You say, well, Billy, you know most
- 23:45Speaker 2: of those things I'm already doing.
- 23:47Speaker 3: But do you really know Christ? Are you sure of it?
- 23:50Speaker 3: If you are not sure, if you.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Are not certain that Christ is in your heart tonight
- 23:54Speaker 2: and that your sin is forgiven, He's calling you by name,
- 23:58Speaker 2: He sees you, and he says, make haste and come.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I'm going to ask you to get up out of
- 24:03Speaker 2: your seat right now, hundreds of you from everywhere, as
- 24:05Speaker 2: we've seen every night, get up out of your seat
- 24:08Speaker 2: and come and stand in front and say, by coming,
- 24:11Speaker 2: I want to come to the Cross by faith tonight,
- 24:14Speaker 2: and I want my sins forgiven. I want to know
- 24:16Speaker 2: that I have eternal life. I want to know I'm
- 24:19Speaker 2: going to heaven. You get up and come right now,
- 24:22Speaker 2: quickly and stand here. If you're with friends or relatives,
- 24:24Speaker 2: they'll wait. And after you've come, I'm going to say
- 24:27Speaker 2: a word to you and have a prayer with you,
- 24:31Speaker 2: and we'll give you some literature to help you in
- 24:33Speaker 2: your Christian life, and then you can go and join
- 24:35Speaker 2: your friends. But I'm going to ask no one to
- 24:37Speaker 2: leave the stadium now at this holy moment, everyone in
- 24:41Speaker 2: an attitude of prayer. As people are already coming. You
- 24:44Speaker 2: get up and come right now too. God is calling
- 24:47Speaker 2: you by name. Jesus is looking in your direction, and
- 24:50Speaker 2: he knows your heart, and he says, come you, get
- 24:53Speaker 2: up and come quickly.
- 24:55Speaker 3: We're going to wait.
- 25:23Speaker 1: As hundreds are responding to mister Graham's invitation to make
- 25:26Speaker 1: a public commitment to Jesus Christ. You can make that
- 25:30Speaker 1: same commitment right where you are. Just pick up the

- 26:10Speaker 2: and Jesus is calling you by name. And he's saying, come,
