- 0:21World. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31We're talking about encouragement today and how
- 0:34encouragement is so important to those around us.
- 0:38And let me be very clear, as someone who coaches 50 hours a
- 0:43week, I'm telling you right now, everyone needs encouragement.
- 0:47Everyone needs to feel that they're doing something that is
- 0:53worthy of encouragement. And we sit there and we say to
- 0:57ourselves, well, maybe they're not.
- 0:59Maybe they're not doing something that's worthy of
- 1:01encouragement. Maybe they're doing everything
- 1:03the wrong way, but what I'm talking about is the kind of
- 1:06encouragement that can come out in other ways as well, not just
- 1:09the things that they do, but The Who they are as a person.
- 1:12So I can tell you for sure when my son, before he got into this
- 1:17groove that he's in now, which is amazing and wonderful and,
- 1:21you know, working so hard and plumbing and going to school and
- 1:25doing all this stuff, and he's only 16.
- 1:28Before that, he was having a hard time trying to figure out
- 1:30himself and he needed encouragement.
- 1:33And the things that I would say to him is it's OK that you don't
- 1:36know what you want to do right now.
- 1:38It's OK that you feel bored with school.
- 1:40It's OK that all that's happening because you're a good
- 1:43person. You know in your heart of hearts
- 1:45who you are as a person. And I would encourage him on his
- 1:49character and say you have this, you're a hard worker.
- 1:53You're always willing to jump up and help.
- 1:55You're you've always got great thoughts.
- 1:57You just because you don't like what they're telling you, you
- 2:00have to learn and you feel it's a waste most of time, does not
- 2:02mean that you are a bad person, does not mean that you are
- 2:05broken. And once I got really into
- 2:09understanding his psychology of things and I recognized, OK, he
- 2:15is not somebody that is in that that same level of, hey, you go
- 2:19to you go to all the way through high school, you go to college
- 2:22and you get a job and you sit down.
- 2:24He's not that guy. He's just not that guy.
- 2:26He's way too mechanically inclined.
- 2:28So I encouraged him and his mechanical stuff, which did lead
- 2:32to a whole year of him, you know, trying to get out of the
- 2:35house because we homeschool to go build a motorcycle.
- 2:39But that led him to understanding his entire mindset
- 2:44and skill set and physical skill set around being able to be hand
- 2:49like very mechanical, very mechanical, very handy.
- 2:52He can look at something and figure it out, which led to him
- 2:55saying I want to go into the trades, which led to him saying
- 2:58I really want to do plumbing. And he is so happy at this point
- 3:03in time. It's it's crazy.
- 3:04We went to visit his sister, my daughter the other day and we're
- 3:08in her house and he's, he had just come from work and he had
- 3:12his bag of, of tools and stuff with him.
- 3:15And mind you, he's apprenticing, but he's been taught so much by
- 3:19these wonderful men in his life so quickly.
- 3:22And he said to her, I want me to do a maintenance check on your
- 3:24house. And she just started laughing
- 3:26and she's like, sure, what does that mean?
- 3:28And he said, well, I'm going to go through all the sinks and I'm
- 3:31going to go through all the traps and I'm going to make sure
- 3:33all the screens are clean. And he spent, like, 45 minutes
- 3:37going through and pulling out all the hair in the drains and
- 3:40fixing them. And she's like, oh, my God, look
- 3:43at him. And she's like, Lucas, this is
- 3:45amazing. The sink hasn't worked well in
- 3:47so long. And he's like, well, that's what
- 3:49I do. And he was so proud.
- 3:51And he was so beaming. And she's like, I love this.
- 3:54Will you come do this often for me?
- 3:56And he's like, yeah, of course. That level of encouragement is
- 4:01so important to people. And it doesn't matter if it's,
- 4:05you know, a little tiny bit or a big wave of it.
- 4:09We all need it. We all need to hear somebody say
- 4:13to us, hey, that's awesome, or hey, I love something about you.
- 4:19And if you are not getting that in your life from the people
- 4:22around you, then you have to give it to yourself.
- 4:25You have to say, oh, high 5 to me, oh Gold Star for me.
- 4:29You have to be able to push yourself and understand where
- 4:33your greatness is because not everybody's capable of giving it
- 4:36to us. They're just not capable of
- 4:38giving it to us for one reason or another.
- 4:40They're not always capable of giving it to us.
- 4:43And that leaves us in a place of a deficit and we start to feel
- 4:46down about things. And of course, we have to be
- 4:49responsible for ourselves. So that's why it's important to
- 4:52encourage yourself, encourage others.
- 4:55If you're listening to this, do that favor for yourself because
- 5:00receiving is really important, but giving is important too.
- 5:04And when you give to somebody and you give that encouragement,
- 5:07God, it just makes you feel like you're on fire and you're
- 5:09spreading your magic wherever you go.
- 5:12So I encourage you all today. If you listen to this, then I'm
- 5:16encouraging you all to by saying great job for sticking to this,
- 5:20great job for joining us. Great job for being out here
- 5:23with me and the girls while clearly Delilah is letting us
- 5:26all know she's about to go lay an egg.
- 5:27That's what she's bragging about.
- 5:29And she has no problem bragging. So in any event, brag to
- 5:33yourself about something. Encourage yourself and encourage
- 5:37somebody else and make them feel like 1,000,000 bucks because it
- 5:39changes life. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:42you have a blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:44Bye.
