- 0:01SPEAKER_00: We drink.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: We drink because we've been contained.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: We've been shushed.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: We've been told we're too much.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: We've been ostracized for our uniqueness.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: And those are just spells from outside.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: They're things that our parents learned that's what societal norms are is containment, constriction, contraction, conformity.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And so living under that premise, that constant scrutiny of judgment from society as a whole is exhausting, tormenting.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: It's trauma.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: So when people say, oh, people are alcoholics because of trauma, it's like, okay, well, we're all doing something to mask the trauma.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: So alcohol just happens to be a societal norm, it's a normalized solution to anxiety, to taking the edge off, getting a buzz, having a good time.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's all around us, it's everywhere.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: But then the minute that the human brain, the neurochemistry, the biological functioning of the body adapts to this substance and we become dependent upon it.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: It hijacks our neurochemistry and the receptors and all of the functioning science within our body gets out of whack, hijacked.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And therefore, we then are we do we become dependent and addicted to a substance that is a known highly addictive substance.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: One of the most addictive substances on this planet.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: And it's manufactured specifically for us as humans.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Drink up, cheers, drink responsibly, and that's also an oxymoron, by the way, because we drink to feel a little less responsible, to feel uninhibited.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: So the human condition of following the rules, being contained, and especially as a woman.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: My witchy wisdom, my my authenticity, my my beautiful wisdom and intuition and innate knowing is starting to really fire up.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: And the more that that happens, the more I realize why I drank was to tolerate what had become intolerable.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Because I was not living my fulfilled uh destiny, my purpose, my passions, my highest potential.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: And alcohol was keeping me from living my highest potential or reaching my highest potential because it was disabling me.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: It is a disabling substance.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: And so as Halloween approaches, and we start hearing more about, you know, the witch, who's been, you know, an art, she's an archetype.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: It's an archetype that is that has been gathered for centuries about women who have this deep knowledge and wisdom and passion and talent.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: And and they're they are one with the earth or one with the divine, but that was scary to many throughout history.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: And so that archetype has been now passed down to many of us as as a way of being.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Be quiet, you're too much.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, be super, super sexy and be super smart, but not too much.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: And listen, I men go through the same thing, right?
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: They they're they have their own set of witchy, you know, sh uh constraints, uh constrictions and whatnot.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: So this isn't just for women, but this is for the women.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: I speak to the women right now, and the spells that were cast upon us throughout our lives of you're too much.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Don't be dramatic, do not be hysterical.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Um, you're a know it all.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Don't be too conceited.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Don't you think you're too much?
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Who do you think you are?
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: And wouldn't it be great if we could just answer?
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Like, I know who I am.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I am a powerful woman.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: And that's what I encourage all of us to start doing.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: I know who I am, and being too much is being myself, and I'm no longer gonna hide who I am.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna hide it from you, and I'm certainly not gonna hide it behind the bottle.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Because the bottle gives us that courage for a moment.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: It it is a substance that allows us to see the possibility.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: It is a psychoactive.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, it has horrific, harsh consequences on the body.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: And so there's other ways to reveal what alcohol shows you in the very beginning, but then disarms, disables, debilitates because it messes with our science, our bodies, our bodies, our biological systems.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: So we want to see that vision, we want to feel that in uninhibited feeling.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: We want to feel, we want to feel the unconstricted, the unconstrained woman inside of us, the powerful woman inside of us without without the restraints, without the shushing.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: And and listen, the shushing may never stop.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: The societal norms likely are not going to stop.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: So we have to take accountability, responsibility, and ownership of who we are.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Because no one is going to hand you that on a silver platter.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: No one's gonna come to you one day and say, God damn it, you're great.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: You should just be yourself.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, someone might, but you have the power to do this yourself.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: You really do.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: And alcohol is preventing it from a long-term sustainable and regenerative application to your life.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: So as we embark on witchy season, be the witch.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Conjure up your inner knowing and allow her to be seen.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: It's gonna take some bravery, it's gonna take some spell work, it's gonna take some dedication and devotion.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: And I am here to help you, I'm here to support you, I'm here to brood you on, cheer you on.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Because this is about rising up, not hanging on by your white knuckles, not shamefully admitting to all of your character defects and your flaws and your uh brokenness.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Like, fuck that.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: We are admitting to who we are.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: So let's wake up, let's rise up, get educated on what this substance is doing to your brain, what it is doing to your body, and then rise up, rise up to who you are meant to be.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Rise up to that woman inside of you.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Whew! All right, this is Melissa with Journey Out of the Bottle.

- 9:13SPEAKER_00: Let's do this.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: You can do this, but you don't have to do it alone, and you are not broken.
