- 1:46Welcome back to the Be Perfect Cool podcast.
- 1:48My name is Rex 45. We have some fun tonight talking
- 1:54about Moto GP, a little bit of World Super bike.
- 1:57That's the first round coming up, It's in Thailand.
- 2:00I'm excited. It's been a long offseason.
- 2:03I've been watching a lot of old Moto GP races from 2002, man, I
- 2:08got to to 2015. There's some, there's a couple
- 2:11of rounds in there that I skipped, but it was good to
- 2:14catch up on a lot of that old Moto GP races because there's,
- 2:18you see a lot of faces in the paddock today.
- 2:20You know, you might get a little blurb of who this rider was in
- 2:24Moto GP in the past, but you don't know how well they ride or
- 2:27what their skill level was like. But going back and watching and
- 2:30seeing Biaggi and some of these other guys, Checker, even Colin
- 2:34Edwards and some of these guys, man, it was good to see.
- 2:38And I was excited. And you know, we brought that on
- 2:41Be very Cool podcast and we chopped it up and a lot of
- 2:43people was was feeling it. So it was it was pretty good.
- 2:47So we didn't keep you guys entertained.
- 2:49And now that the season is back, we're going to even have more to
- 2:53talk about. We have a cool year with a lot
- 2:56of things planned. We got some writers to talk
- 2:58about in Motor America to come. So it's exciting.
- 3:02But you know, let's let me not get ahead of myself.
- 3:05Let me bring the guys in and see what they've been up to.
- 3:09Jordan, man, welcome to the show.
- 3:10How you doing tonight man? What's going on?
- 3:14Loving life, brother. Loving life.
- 3:16Back on two wheels, baby. Nice man.
- 3:20I mean, you know, if the weather is a little bit wild, but it's
- 3:23nice to know when you you can look, look in the garage and you
- 3:26know, you know, you're going to get on that bike this year.
- 3:29Exactly, exactly. And I did get a chance to test
- 3:34some Aprilia's just the other day, touch on some VR fours and
- 3:39some other tasty morsels I'm not going to go into right about
- 3:43now, but yeah. That's what's up, man.
- 3:47You're you're excited for Moto GP to be back, man.
- 3:50Absolutely. I cannot wait for Moto GP come
- 3:54back and see who's going to defend or get kicked off of
- 3:59their podium that, you know, come up and coming season.
- 4:03So yeah, I can't wait for the rookies that are that are really
- 4:06new to Moto GP to see where they kind of latch in, see if they're
- 4:11going to become an instant alien or they're going to be wash out,
- 4:15which I'm thinking is going to be more of the precursor, not
- 4:19the lack. Well, there's only two rookies
- 4:23and, you know, there's a little bit of an age gap difference.
- 4:26And I mean, you know, it's one of those things where it's going
- 4:30to be hard because Diego, he, he's, he, he, I, I don't think
- 4:36he sees himself any less than Top Rock.
- 4:38So it's going to be interesting. That's going to that's going to
- 4:42quickly be AI guess you want to call it a a reality check
- 4:48gruesome Rose Rosa. So yeah.
- 4:51All right, man. Hang tight, man.
- 4:53Hang tight, Tyson man. Welcome to the show, man.
- 4:56I really appreciate you coming on tonight, man.
- 4:58How you doing? You ready for Moto GP?
- 5:01How's it going Rexy? I'm doing good.
- 5:02Looking forward to all this snow to melt and Moto GP as well will
- 5:06be fun this weekend. Exactly, man.
- 5:09I heard today a little bit of the snow melt.
- 5:11I'm going to be up that way tomorrow.
- 5:14And you know, I mean, you know, I'm not looking forward to snow.
- 5:19I mean, a little bit melted, that's for sure, but there's
- 5:22plenty left. Still, Yeah, yeah, yeah, no
- 5:24doubt. I mean, have you, you know,
- 5:27decided to get into the ice riding or anything like that so
- 5:30that way you can get out in the winter time on two wheels?
- 5:35Winter sports are tough because everything going on the, the
- 5:39winters are very unreliable these days.
- 5:42So it's like, it's like a snowmobile, you know, like
- 5:44they're, they're great in principle, but then you drop 20
- 5:47grand on them and you only had one snowy day that year and it's
- 5:51like can feel like a waste. So that's stuff I usually try to
- 5:55stay away from. Like, I play hockey for winter
- 5:57sports and I ski from time to time, but that's my winter
- 6:01stuff. OK, OK.
- 6:02At least you're getting out. Yeah, I hear you.
- 6:04It's it's funny. I was thinking about that today
- 6:07and you know, because I want to get like a mini bike or
- 6:09something like that and I'm just like, wow, how much how much
- 6:12time am I going to spend on a? Stick before I get all the
- 6:15sudden whistles. Wait.
- 6:17Well, it's nice a little mini bike, you're in Florida.
- 6:19So like, dude, perfect little like offseason track thing to
- 6:23RIP around was like, I need an indoor place up here.
- 6:26And, you know, New England's just so sparsely populated that
- 6:29we just don't really have a density and a drive and a market
- 6:32for something like that to be sustainable, so.
- 6:35No, I, I, I, I know about that life for sure.
- 6:39But let's let's enough about that.
- 6:41Let's talk about Moto GP guys. You know Marquez was the winner.
- 6:46He's a defending champion. He got hurt at the end of last
- 6:48season. I think he missed the last two
- 6:51rounds of 343 to 4 rounds, give or take from that injury.
- 6:55I assume it was more at this point, he already won the
- 6:56championship. So nothing, nothing to prove.
- 6:59Maybe I could go out there and try to win one more race or
- 7:02something to that effect, but nothing crazy.
- 7:05But what are you guys that are looking see from, you know,
- 7:08Ducati in general? Is it a phone going conclusion
- 7:12that Marquez is just going to be #1 and everyone else is just
- 7:14going to be fighting for number 2?
- 7:20There's too many people that's been trying to grab that number
- 7:24one plate. And even though Marquez had a a
- 7:27small little injury at the end of the season, like I said, he
- 7:30got the championship. He was pretty much done.
- 7:33So he didn't really have to do too much like Valentino wanted a
- 7:37couple of years before like 4 rounds before the end of the
- 7:40season. And they just could have been
- 7:42like that. Whatever, I'm going to go home
- 7:44and, you know, throw back some, some martinis.
- 7:47But you know, that's part of our our culture is to even if you
- 7:51win the championship, I'm still going to show up.
- 7:53I'm still going to show people why I won the championship.
- 7:56I'm still going to promote my sponsors and stuff like that.
- 7:59That's the, you know, the business background of it, but
- 8:02the racer side of it is kind of like, yeah, I'm a champion.
- 8:05This is the reason why I'm a champion.
- 8:07And I'm going to still continue racing and pushing my efforts as
- 8:11to the full extent of my capabilities even after
- 8:14championship is done. So I think it's going to be a
- 8:17good fight, but I think it's just not going to be a Marquette
- 8:21ship. It's just not going to be a
- 8:23Marquette show. Let me say that Alex Marques is
- 8:27going to be up there. He's going to be up there
- 8:29fighting if Marquez doesn't slow down and give him the race like
- 8:34he did before. Sorry, did I say that out loud?
- 8:36My bad. I think there's going to be a
- 8:41whole bunch more people involved than just Marquez going out four
- 8:46or five seconds out and then he just, you know, clenching the
- 8:50title, becoming more than that. I don't know if I don't know if
- 8:52Marquez gave him the race. I think he gave him a few laps.
- 9:04And then he gave him a couple laps, but then he walked away in
- 9:08the last two laps. Yeah, he's definitely Lucy with
- 9:14the with the football there dangling that character brother
- 9:19like that and then take it, take it away at the last minute.
- 9:23Jord, Tyson, man, what are your thoughts on on on the season?
- 9:28You heard Jordan talk about Marquez and these other guys are
- 9:31going to be fighting. I think it's going to be closer
- 9:32personally. But what are your thoughts man?
- 9:36I would say it's it's probably fairly certain that Marquez will
- 9:39win the championship again, but I think it will be certainly
- 9:42closer than it was last year. The Aprilia bikes have taken a
- 9:47step forward. They were already fairly close.
- 9:49Like there's a fair few races last year where I was put, the
- 9:54Aprilia is the better bike. Mark is just a better rider on a
- 9:58equivalent bike, you know what I mean?
- 10:00Or like within the same ballpark bike.
- 10:01So. Aprilia is like is like the Fast
- 10:05and furious. The first one almost had you if
- 10:08Aprilia had more circuits to go. To doesn't say that to to Dom,
- 10:17and Dom says something else. I can't remember, it's been so
- 10:19long. Like you almost had what or
- 10:21something like that. You had nothing.
- 10:24Something like that double. Clutching granny shifting.
- 10:30Yeah. But yeah, no, seriously though,
- 10:34I, I do think that I agree with you.
- 10:35I do think that Aprilia has a really good shot.
- 10:39I think, I hope Martine falls in line.
- 10:43I think I like the I like the I like if Martine can be what
- 10:48Bagnaya and Bashini were when they're together on Ducati, how
- 10:51they work together. If, if Bez and Martine can do
- 10:55that this year. I think Martine could be that
- 10:59thing to put enough Ducatis between the Prius, you know what
- 11:03I'm saying? Yeah, but is he gonna just do
- 11:05that though? You know, like just can his ego
- 11:09handle that? Man, that's that's the that's
- 11:13the thing. I don't know.
- 11:14I you know when you think. So, but I've also not him so.
- 11:17Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, you know, what are your
- 11:19thoughts, Jordan, on that? Can his ego handle that?
- 11:21You think that, Martine? I mean, and we hear these rumors
- 11:25that he's leaving to go somewhere else next year, which
- 11:27I think is really odd because I got to assume Aprilia wants him
- 11:31gone. I have to assume that because,
- 11:34like the second best bike on the grid is Aprilia.
- 11:36So if you're not going back to Ducati, you'd want to stay with
- 11:40April, yeah? I agree.
- 11:42I agree. I don't know, like I said, I
- 11:44wish I knew Bazecki and all these, you know, top tier, top
- 11:48tier riders, like I know the most American riders here in the
- 11:51USI wish I was able to call them up and just just ask him those
- 11:55very few questions and kind of get a a general idea of Hey,
- 11:59what would happen if, like I said, I can call up a couple
- 12:04other guys and be like, Hey, let me ask a question.
- 12:06What happens if this were to happen as a rider, as a racer,
- 12:11you and I know that, you know, with like being an MC, you in
- 12:16your mind is like, there's no one better than me unless you
- 12:21prove it to me on the track or whatever stage you're on.
- 12:25Show me your best move, your best competition, your best
- 12:29whatever, and then I will, I would say bow down, but I would
- 12:33at least admit this person may be a little bit better than me,
- 12:36but for him to really bow down and be like, hey, you know, I'm
- 12:41just going to give you the win or something like that.
- 12:43I don't think it's going to be in his nature to do that.
- 12:45And most I said, you know, the Perelio has top notch at least
- 12:49top speed and corner speed. So it's just kind of like, you
- 12:54know, all you got to do is get a rider who's willing and knowing
- 12:57to put laps together, not just one flying lap, not just two
- 13:02laps, put the whole race together so that that bike can
- 13:05really shine. Right.
- 13:07No, I agree. I, I wasn't saying like have to
- 13:10give up anything. I think more just sharing data
- 13:12and and working together when it once the lights go out, it is
- 13:16what it is. But you know what I mean?
- 13:18Because that's the only way that I think Aprilia is going to do
- 13:22better. I mean, I do think that, yeah,
- 13:28the what, what are the track house guys?
- 13:30Aya Guru and Raul? I do think those guys are going
- 13:34to be finishing top eight. I mean, I think, I think Aya
- 13:37Guru will probably finish top ten because he was, he was like
- 13:41really the first one to figure out that Aprilia last year, even
- 13:43before Bez. And once he broke his leg, I
- 13:46think at Silverstone, not Silverstone, I figure where he
- 13:49broke his leg initially, that's when he he kind of struggled
- 13:53throughout the rest of the season.
- 13:54And Raul came to his own at the end of the season.
- 13:58I forgot, right? He didn't win the race, right?
- 14:00He didn't win the race. So I mean, I think everyone
- 14:04except for Martine is ready and I think they, those guys have a
- 14:09really good shot. There's only 6 Ducatis now, I
- 14:11mean, for the last few years now.
- 14:13So I mean, I think that's also exciting.
- 14:16Let's move over to Honda and and Luca and and mayor and what
- 14:20those guys are doing, because I think those, I think even Zarko,
- 14:24you know, this is I, I would say Honda is the third best team on
- 14:27the on the grid and I think they got a shot.
- 14:29So what you guys thinking about what Honda, you know, what do
- 14:33you think they can do this season?
- 14:35We start with Tyson. I think they'll definitely
- 14:38improve from their performance last season for sure.
- 14:40That is seems to be their trajectory.
- 14:42I don't know if I'd necessarily put them at like a firm #3 but
- 14:47like, you know, weekend to weekend, you know, I can see
- 14:49them at three. I can see them trading with KTM
- 14:52here and there. But I certainly think they're,
- 14:55they're probably on the best other than Aprilia, they're on,
- 14:58you know, the best trajectory for their program.
- 15:01It seems like everybody else is taking steps back, Ducati, KTM,
- 15:05Yamaha, but Aprilia and Honda seem to be, you know,
- 15:08progressing. They're making iterative steps
- 15:10one at a time at a time. And, you know, slowly those
- 15:12build up and, you know, you got yourself an impressive bike.
- 15:16I'd like to see Mir stay on the bike more.
- 15:18I feel like they can get some solid points if he stays on the
- 15:21bike. I don't think he's a bad rider.
- 15:24I just think he's, you know, like a lot of riders fall into
- 15:26that trap of like, you know, win it or Bennett and, you know,
- 15:30you're just on a terrible bike and you just start focusing on
- 15:34at this point, just do whatever I can, you know, and then, you
- 15:38know, ends up in him spinning it.
- 15:39But I think as it gets better, more consistent, he'll stay on
- 15:42the bike more. Yeah, I, I hope so.
- 15:45And I, and he did towards the end of last year.
- 15:48Jordan, man, what are you, what are your thoughts on Honda?
- 15:51Smitty's not here to tell us how, how, how great because he's
- 15:55a, he's a die hard Honda guy, True and true.
- 15:58And you know, I do, you know, I do feel like, yeah, these guys,
- 16:02they, I, I, they're going to get on a podium.
- 16:04You know, God bless Rex love him very much.
- 16:08You know, even if harder was I mean spending my bad.
- 16:13I love everybody. Smitty would definitely say that
- 16:19they're they're making improvements and I'm not denying
- 16:21that they are making improvements.
- 16:22They they need to make improvements years ago and it
- 16:25just takes some time for development.
- 16:28Even with this test riders that they have, you know, that
- 16:30they're making, you know, adjustments as they go along.
- 16:34You know, I think they've got the not say the best 2 riders on
- 16:37there. Luca Marini has definitely
- 16:39making some, some headway, some steps and John Mirror, you know,
- 16:43he's he's a championship winner. So, so I mean, it's just kind of
- 16:47like, you know, if you kind of put those, those not say this
- 16:50ends in the basket, but you put them together and then, you
- 16:52know, hopefully Honda, you know, I don't know if they had
- 16:55designers walk away or something like that.
- 16:57But for the past couple years, it's like they've been really
- 16:59stagnant. And I don't know why, but
- 17:03they've been having some feedback on saying, Hey, we need
- 17:06to improve this, we need to improve that, change this,
- 17:08change that. And I don't know why they're not
- 17:10kind of going to where their riders are telling them to go
- 17:14to. So with the process they're
- 17:16making right about now, hopefully they're not, you know,
- 17:20like I said, win it. I've been in, like Tyson said,
- 17:23you know, hopefully not doing that too much, but hopefully
- 17:26they do a little bit more competitiveness, maybe not win
- 17:29it, but just be competitive, stay on the stay on the bike,
- 17:32less mechanicals and then can finish off more races than when
- 17:36you did last year. But I mean, shouldn't these guys
- 17:39get a little bit more respect for their name, Luca and and
- 17:42Mayor, I mean, you know, they're on a bad bike, right?
- 17:46These guys in their own right. When Mayor was on a Suzuki, he
- 17:49was nice. When when Luca was on a on the
- 17:53Ducati DVR, he was nice. I mean, he got on a podium.
- 17:57I mean, it's not like you know, when you say better guys, who
- 17:59would have been who are the better guys if not Marquez?
- 18:02I mean, you may say Acosta, but Acosta has yet to win the Voter
- 18:05GP race. So you can't really on paper
- 18:07he's he may be better, but who are better than these two guys?
- 18:10And that's what I'm saying. It's just like, you know, that's
- 18:12what I said. I was like, you know, I don't
- 18:13want to say they're they're they need to get better riders, but
- 18:17they do have people in that seat right now that should be giving
- 18:21them maybe not podiums every single time, but definitely top
- 18:25ten, top 12. And they're really lacking in
- 18:28that. Even when they do get good
- 18:30starts, they start falling behind mid race and then they're
- 18:34down in 156017. It's kind of like I don't get
- 18:36it. So I don't know, I don't know
- 18:39what they're doing or what they need to do to stay upfront.
- 18:42Yeah, what what are your thoughts Tyson on on Luca and
- 18:46and mayor it are they are they better riders in Moto GP that
- 18:51that should be no seats that's going to give Honda a better
- 18:54result. I know you know, Jordan said,
- 18:56you know, they fell back, but I was in the beginning I mean Luca
- 18:59was starting to do well after his accident at Suzuka came in
- 19:02back from that. And mayor last year at the end
- 19:04of the year was also he got on the podium I think a couple of
- 19:07times as well. So, you know, so they, they are
- 19:10pointing in the right direction, which is moving forward up the
- 19:12grid, not falling back like they were doing.
- 19:16You know, what are your thoughts?
- 19:17Do you think? Cuz I, I hate it a lot with Luca
- 19:20and, and me are saying, you know, let's get some other guys
- 19:22on the Honda as if they say if, if there's a bunch of Marc
- 19:25Marquez's waiting to come on that Honda.
- 19:29Just waiting in the wings on. The bike.
- 19:33I mean, they're clearly good riders, as you said.
- 19:35What? John Mirror is a world champion.
- 19:37But you know, people's, especially in racing, your
- 19:41reputation is only as good as your last race.
- 19:43You know, unfortunately Honda has been dogging their names
- 19:47with a trash bike. You know, like if all of them
- 19:51are performing relatively the same, I mean, sure, Mirror
- 19:53crashes a little bit more, but like none of the other Hondas
- 19:56were really doing anything crazy better than he was.
- 19:59Sure, they're finishing and getting points occasionally, but
- 20:02you know, like at that point I it's the bike.
- 20:04You know. The team needs to do a better
- 20:07job of giving them better equipment and a better package
- 20:10for every weekend. Like their job there is to ride
- 20:13and obviously they give feedback, that kind of jazz.
- 20:14But like, they're not getting what they need to do better.
- 20:17And they clearly at the end of last year's shows, they can
- 20:19clearly get podiums. They aren't good riders, you
- 20:22know, So there's something wrong with this motorcycle.
- 20:25Well, maybe not so much anymore. As we said there, they are
- 20:28making progress here. They're one step after the
- 20:30other. They're getting better and
- 20:31better and better. But that is probably what has
- 20:33happened. And then, you know, their names
- 20:34have just got dragged through the mud because, you know,
- 20:36you're on bad equipment and, you know, people just see you doing
- 20:40poorly. And they don't care that, you
- 20:42know, they don't see what's behind the behind the, you know,
- 20:46the screens where all these issues are coming up.
- 20:48They're trying to work through things and, you know, nothing's
- 20:50working and every single weekend you're crashing and that that
- 20:54kind of, that's not helping you either, you know?
- 20:56So I think they are. I'm sorry, what?
- 20:59I said not mentally. No, that wouldn't help me.
- 21:02I would struggle. Yeah.
- 21:04It's a long season. What is it, March to November at
- 21:09this point? Late October, That's a long
- 21:12season of international travel racing.
- 21:15Like it's a lot. So I think they're good riders.
- 21:18I think they just need to give them a better package and
- 21:20they'll start getting those podiums and those race wins.
- 21:23No, I it's actually February, right?
- 21:26Because the first round is actually, I guess it's March.
- 21:29They have it as no, the first one is February.
- 21:31So yeah, it's February to November 22nd.
- 21:35So it's wild. Yeah, that's so long.
- 21:39Yeah. I like that the, you know, the
- 21:40winters are shorter. That's amazing.
- 21:42But at the same time, like it's a lot for these guys.
- 21:45Yeah, no doubt. I I completely agree.
- 21:47And let's before we move off a Honda, let's talk about Zarko
- 21:51and his teammate Diego. He's a rookie.
- 21:54Zarko, you know, wanna wanna race, got on the podium another
- 21:58race. For some reason or another, they
- 22:01stopped giving them this and this I don't understand.
- 22:04Like if you're, if you give everybody the good parts, I
- 22:07mean, I like there's a rule that we can only have two and and all
- 22:11four. You got to fight for two pieces
- 22:12of chicken just. Like.
- 22:16Give everybody the parts. I don't understand, like, OK,
- 22:19you got to be top five to get these parts.
- 22:21It's like, how am I going to top five and get these parts?
- 22:25And and that's the whole point. And you, you, we laugh about it,
- 22:27but like this learned the truth. It's just like, how are you
- 22:30going to limit what you give to the riders and then expect them
- 22:35to get the results without the parts?
- 22:38And is, isn't it sabotage if it's because Zaco was the first
- 22:42one that was doing well last year and the year before that,
- 22:45you know, on the Honda and, and it's kind of like, like, are
- 22:49you, did you sabotage Zarko or did you again, you know, did you
- 22:53just say, Hey, these, these work?
- 22:55So are we got to, we got to take this off your parts, dude,
- 22:58because we know it works and, and give it to these other guys
- 23:01and, and stuff like that, man. I mean, I think I don't know the
- 23:04expense of the rule, but I mean, you know, what are your
- 23:06thoughts, Tyson? You know, should these guys
- 23:08like, you know, get all the same parts?
- 23:10So we can, you know, see who can be upfront.
- 23:14I would love if everybody had the same parts, the same bike.
- 23:16That would be amazing. You know, we could live in a
- 23:19utopia where everyone gets a Lamborghini and we all have
- 23:22yachts and no one works and pigs are flying around, but just not
- 23:25the world we live in. You know, I'm I'm assuming it
- 23:29has something to do with LC Rs contract would be my guess is
- 23:33that because from what I heard like especially I think this
- 23:36year they're like more of like a full team, but like last year,
- 23:39they're more of just kind of like a name slapped on a extra
- 23:41Honda, which was what I gathered.
- 23:44I'm not sure if that's 100% correct or not, but but from
- 23:48like an engineering and sort of just like a science standpoint
- 23:51of like trying to do better their thought process may be we
- 23:54have two prototype bikes here on the Honda factory team.
- 23:57This is where we are going to be making our improvements to
- 23:59improve our, you know, package our program kind of deal.
- 24:03And it could be useful to have a control which is the bike we
- 24:08started out with the beginning of the year.
- 24:09We know Zarko is going to be good on it.
- 24:11He's got a lot of experience. He'll get every piece of
- 24:15performance out of there that he can get.
- 24:17And then we're going to keep making changes to our bike to
- 24:20see if we can get better. And then we can see like, OK,
- 24:22here's Zarko on this old bike. Now we've done all these
- 24:25updates. Great.
- 24:26Now it's faster, they're on the bike more, you know, and OK, now
- 24:29we've done that. So let's make those parts and
- 24:31give them the Zarko now that kind of deal.
- 24:32So that may be another reason why he is not getting all of the
- 24:36parts. I I doubt it is actually
- 24:39sabotage. I'm sure they would love for him
- 24:42to be on a factory bike and, you know, doing the exact same
- 24:44thing. I hope so because you know, you
- 24:46know, you mentioned all being on on the same machine.
- 24:50I mean, they did it in Moto E and that really shows you who
- 24:52are the strong riders. Even though that series is no
- 24:55longer around. We do see it in the WCR, in the
- 24:58women's series on the R sevens and they're all and we see like
- 25:01the fast people are up front and and you can't blame the machine
- 25:05because they're all the same bikes.
- 25:06So there's something to that to really if, if the playing field
- 25:10was the same, we would actually know who the better riders are.
- 25:13And you know, I guess, you know, it might come down to the
- 25:16engineers and the mechanics and who can, you know, you know,
- 25:20configure the bike to the riders like independence.
- 25:23But at the end. But I know we're not going to
- 25:24see that in in in the real world.
- 25:27There may be a couple of series where everybody may be on the
- 25:29same bike, but for the most part, there's just too many
- 25:31manufacturers that need to race on Sunday so they can sell on
- 25:35Monday. But.
- 25:41As bullshit I hated they're closed on Sunday and Monday.
- 25:43What the That's when I need parts.
- 25:45That's when I need them. You went on, they still on
- 25:50Tuesday? Exactly, exactly.
- 25:55Let's talk about KTMI mean and we haven't even talked about the
- 25:58rumors of people leaving yet, but we'll leave that to the end
- 26:01to the rumors section because they're just rumors.
- 26:05You know, we're looking at Ducati 1 Aprilia to Honda 3 is
- 26:09safe to say maybe KTM 3. We can put them equal at 3 even
- 26:13if we'd like 0.3 point whatever. What does KTM have to do this
- 26:19year with with, you know, they got a rider that's ready to go.
- 26:23They got the only rider that seems to love the program and
- 26:26drinking the kool-aid is vinyl is at the moment.
- 26:29Brad is just, you know, Brad is like the, the bigger guy trying
- 26:34to hide behind a smart, a skinny tree.
- 26:36Hopefully nobody noticed them cuz I love Brad, but like he,
- 26:40he, he's gotten a pass this whole time in Moto GP.
- 26:44Remy Gardner did not get that same pass Icaleuca Ono did not
- 26:48get that same pass. You know, what are your thoughts
- 26:51on KTM and and the financial woes that they had to go through
- 26:54last year and maybe still restructuring from that this
- 26:57year? What are your thoughts on KTM
- 26:59and what they should bring in and what they can do with all
- 27:02that chaos and craziness that's happening?
- 27:05Just start with Jordan. I think they've got.
- 27:08Both teams have A at least one rider on each team that can
- 27:13really, I would say shake up of the championship or if not,
- 27:19bring a spark and a a shot to the team.
- 27:24Pedro Costa, you know, he's not a rookie anymore and he's got
- 27:28loads and loads of talent as well as skill that he's brought
- 27:33out. And he showed people that, yes,
- 27:36I may not be able to, you know, surpass Marc Marquez, but I can
- 27:40definitely show a wheel every now and again or if not, doesn't
- 27:44be able to get on the podium. So I think that's definitely
- 27:47worth talking about. And then Bastanini, we talked
- 27:51about him before. I just like, you know, get him
- 27:53on any type of Rd. where he gets a breath at something and you
- 27:58know, he may be off to the races, but it's it all comes
- 28:01down to I think set up with him. Vinyalis.
- 28:05I think, I don't know if we talked about this enough, that
- 28:09once he got his bad reputation from Yamaha, then it's kind of
- 28:14like he doesn't really have too many seats left to kind of jump
- 28:18back and forth on before he's pretty much out the door.
- 28:22Got the motorcycle whisperer with him.
- 28:24He got Lorenzo, but. He, we talked about that he
- 28:28needed to have him with him to keep his edge at the limit so
- 28:34that it'd be like, listen, you may not like me, but I can do
- 28:36this, you know, other than that, he probably would have been gone
- 28:40already. But like I said, KTM gave him a
- 28:44pass and he's really trying to keep that even though he hasn't
- 28:50been. What was this his best?
- 28:53Healthy, healthy. He won last year, but not just
- 28:56being. Healthy besides being healthy,
- 29:00his his away. From him wasn't it wasn't it
- 29:02Coda he won was it Coda is that is that right and they took it
- 29:05away from oh that was on the pro yeah, never mind that was on the
- 29:07pro that. Was his top one.
- 29:10What's the KTM over the past 4-2 years Has been like 10, no?
- 29:14I think it was like it was like a second place or something they
- 29:16took away from him. Yeah, I think.
- 29:18I think he got penalized last year.
- 29:21For for some nonsense. But my point is he keeps on not
- 29:26really keeping his name in good standing.
- 29:30And if you only got, you know, so many bikes, so many owners,
- 29:35so many teams. Man come on, man.
- 29:38Come on man. We got, we got, we got peace and
- 29:39love, man. I mean, listen to Michael.
- 29:43Come on man. Come on man.
- 29:47Come on, man. The man donated money to, gave
- 29:49money to KTM when they were suffering and bought into the
- 29:52company. Come on, he he, he showed them
- 29:55how to. He had to please give me his
- 30:00seat. I.
- 30:01Had to keep his seat. Yeah, exactly.
- 30:04I will pay for my seat here, take this money.
- 30:08Like I said, he's still a good racer.
- 30:11From what I understand, he's not giving a whole bunch of good
- 30:14feedback to say, hey, let's fix this, let's fix that.
- 30:17You know he's just complaining about animal power.
- 30:19No, I, I, well, I, I, I disagree with you there.
- 30:22Yeah, because I, I think he was the quickest rider.
- 30:25He was the quickest rider last year until he until he hurt his
- 30:28shoulder and and and Acosta started having the same setup as
- 30:34Ben Yalis last year. And then Acosta started being
- 30:37the number one guy. What do you thought you had a
- 30:39lot there, Tyson? What are you talking about?
- 30:40Oh. Man.
- 30:44I mean, as like a team. I think this year's probably
- 30:46awash for KTM would be my guess, especially given the financial
- 30:50troubles and the changing of the regs next year.
- 30:53My guess is they're like, we're going to put just enough money
- 30:57to get this team across the finish line in November and then
- 31:02put the rest of it into the 2027 bike.
- 31:08Yeah, I probably, I don't expect much out of them this year.
- 31:12And I'm with you, Jordan. Like, I don't know how Bender's
- 31:15got in the past like he is. He had one good wet race in
- 31:19Austria and he has been riding that success.
- 31:22Was that 3-4 years ago? It was 21 or 22, wasn't it?
- 31:26It was a while. Ago and like he's been riding
- 31:28that and just like I think because no one notices him in
- 31:3115th place most of the time and so no one talks about him and we
- 31:36always forget that he's on the KTM and Pedro is, you know,
- 31:41fighting for 3rd and 4th place constantly and doing what he
- 31:43can. I mean, I think of the
- 31:47generational talents on the grid right now is probably Marquez,
- 31:51Quatrero and Acosta. And if Acosta can't get a win
- 31:57out of that bike, I don't see anybody else getting a win out
- 31:59of that bike unless a Meteor hits the other 16 bikes.
- 32:07And Lorenzo, man, you know he's right there, Lorenzo.
- 32:13Lorenzo can only go so far. He ain't behind the wheel
- 32:16anymore. He can.
- 32:17He's only coaching from the sideline.
- 32:21Come on, He got his scarf on. He got his cappuccino.
- 32:25Come on, man. Let's let's let's do these
- 32:26circle drills. Let's go.
- 32:27He's adorable. But yeah, I don't, I don't
- 32:32expect much out of them, frankly.
- 32:34OK, now it's, it's, you know, this business, there's racing
- 32:40business, it's not for the faint of a heart.
- 32:42So, and and it's the ones who take the risk.
- 32:47I mean, I I appreciate what KTM has done.
- 32:49I got AI, got a few KTMSI mean, you know, I, I like what they've
- 32:52done, you know, getting to me. Ducati's been there with the
- 32:55finances. I don't think Honda's been
- 32:57there. They've been pretty good about
- 32:58managing their money. I think Yamaha has been pretty
- 33:00good about managing their money, but everyone else has gone
- 33:03through financial troubles are really, you know, saying they
- 33:06all have had. Yeah, they're a.
- 33:10Luxury. Exactly, You know what I'm
- 33:13saying. So you know, the fact that
- 33:15they're staying in Moto GP is a plus and I hope they do stay in
- 33:18it. It'll be very it'll be tough.
- 33:20You know, I think for any, any person that competes at any
- 33:23level that if you have a machine that you, you got so close to to
- 33:28tasting it, right. I mean, they're like the Indiana
- 33:30Pacers. They're just so close.
- 33:34It can't get over the hump because.
- 33:42Is that your team, Jordan? You know what I mean?
- 33:48It's one of those teams that like, you know, they just and,
- 33:51and, and I know they will, right?
- 33:52Because I don't we don't get to write history.
- 33:56They do, you know what I mean? But it's if you, if if you give
- 34:00up, you never really know if you get over the hump.
- 34:01So I do hope that KTM stays with it and they figure it out and,
- 34:06and, and continue moving because we we need it in, in, in the
- 34:09series. But yeah, it's going to be
- 34:11tricky. I mean, I think they still could
- 34:12be a number three. I think could be a number 3
- 34:14bike. I, I won't know.
- 34:16We won't know until the first round or second round.
- 34:18But I think that Acosta and I think Vinyall is these two guys.
- 34:22I think they're going to be top 6.
- 34:24I think they're going to be fighting.
- 34:25I think if a plastic and stay on the bike, he's going to be top
- 34:28four, top three in that area because that's how he was last
- 34:31year until he went until he crashed.
- 34:33So he's going to be up there who you don't.
- 34:37Think Bassini is going to be up there?
- 34:39I think if Bassinini figures out that bike, I think he will and,
- 34:43and, and, and he's been a late pace guy on the Ducati and
- 34:47there's times on the on the KTM last year he was coming through
- 34:52the to through the grid. And but same thing.
- 34:56I think he he crash out right or he'll make a mistake enough that
- 35:00at that point you just got to conserve.
- 35:03Yeah, I know, I know. He did a couple of tops, 5-7,
- 35:07something like that. Yeah.
- 35:08And another time he was crashing out.
- 35:10It was kind of like, like I said, winning a Bennett.
- 35:12Yeah, so I'm a fan of Bastianini as well.
- 35:15I think he should have kept his factory seat, but anyway at
- 35:17Ducati. But that's a whole that's that's
- 35:20history now. But I am a fan.
- 35:21I am I'm a fan of him. I think that the fact that
- 35:24Vinyalla's figured out the KTM last year quicker than he did,
- 35:28he kind of kind of made it seem like, oh, you know, one year on
- 35:32a bike should be enough to figure it out.
- 35:33But we know it's not. Look at Raul, look at some of
- 35:36these other guys that's taking them a few years to figure out
- 35:38bikes. And so if I hope he gets the
- 35:41time with KTM to figure out the bike, but it's it's it's fickle.
- 35:45KTM is fickle. They cut people.
- 35:47You know, you're like, damn, one year, that's it.
- 35:51You saw enough. So it's interesting.
- 35:56Yeah, exactly. But let's talk about let's talk
- 35:59about Yamaha. You know, we got we got top rock
- 36:03on the B4. It sounds like Quattro R is not
- 36:06happy on the B4. It sounds like Renz is cool.
- 36:09It sounds like Miller is just kind of like I I know it's like
- 36:12to to build a bike. He's on the Honda when he first
- 36:14came in and that was building when he was on the satellite
- 36:17teams. He was on the early Ducatis when
- 36:19they were figuring it out in 2015 sixteen and think 17 and
- 36:22before he got the factory seat as well with alongside Peko and
- 36:27stuff like that. So I mean, I think for Miller,
- 36:30he's just kind of like we're working, you know, where should
- 36:34these other guys be at Quattro hour?
- 36:37Because, you know, he wants to leave because he's not getting
- 36:40what he's want. But I, I, I, you know, I was
- 36:42talking to some of the guys the other day, where could he go?
- 36:45The only place he can go is Honda.
- 36:47And, you know, I mean, Honda, we're saying is third place and
- 36:53at at best as far as the manufacturers, not necessarily
- 36:573rd place overall in the championship.
- 36:59You know, what are your thoughts on on Yamaha?
- 37:02Is it just continue to rebuild, you know, keep the, the, the,
- 37:07the chemistry up in the, in the paddocks while we can?
- 37:10Or is it like, let's, let's, let's, let's clean shopping and
- 37:14who wants to stay, stay and other people that that don't
- 37:17feel we are, we're, we're, we're going to be competitive again.
- 37:19Get rid of them. What are your thoughts on where
- 37:21Yamaha is? Let's start with George.
- 37:25Good question about shouldn't like ultimately just clean house
- 37:29or just keep what they got. I'm inclined to say that they
- 37:34should really kind of keep things together, kind of know
- 37:38where everyone's head is at. Cuatuaro not really happy
- 37:42because the past two years he's playing not just second fiddle,
- 37:46but he's kind of playing catch up with Ducati and Marquez.
- 37:49And just kind of like, you know, I need just need that on top of
- 37:53of the couple of the mishaps that he had, which really,
- 37:57really broke Yamaha's heart, broke a lot of Yamaha fans
- 38:02heart, including myself. I wish I had my Yamaha shirt on.
- 38:06I mean, right when that right height device failed, I, I
- 38:12started crying, dude, I was, I was in tears.
- 38:17Yeah, that was that was tough because he had a really solid
- 38:19race, really got solid lead. But.
- 38:22He he ultimately said no, that's racing and kind of I think it
- 38:26was a little bit more than that. Behind the scenes.
- 38:29He's probably pissed. But you know, with the the
- 38:33Primack Yamaha team, they just seemed like with, with Miller
- 38:39and top rack, I don't know, maybe it's just me, just they
- 38:42just seem like it's play time. You know, they're they're joking
- 38:47around and playing around and wheelies and stoppies and jokes
- 38:51and blah, blah, blah. It's kind of like I want to see
- 38:53these guys get really get to business and really show.
- 38:55OK, You ready to to win a championship?
- 38:58You ready to, you know, get down to business and make this stuff
- 39:00happen? I mean, yeah, it's good you have
- 39:02a little bit of hype behind you. But you know, when it comes down
- 39:06to when that, you know, I'm going to say the flag drops.
- 39:09Sorry for, you know, regular Rd. races when that red light goes
- 39:13out, you know, it's it's serious game after that.
- 39:16So what you going to do when that happens?
- 39:18So I don't know what they need to do to kind of focus on on
- 39:24game time when it is game time, because I got a few more
- 39:27sessions left to really see and their their practice time on the
- 39:36time wasn't bad, wasn't they weren't far off.
- 39:39But it's kind of like, OK, can you translate that fun and
- 39:43festivity stuff to, you know, podiums and wins?
- 39:46And right about now, I don't see it.
- 39:48So I don't know what they need to do to get everybody on the
- 39:51same page. Put the focus on this is where
- 39:54we need to go or just like you said, to scrap everything and be
- 39:57like, OK, you guys play around too much.
- 40:00This guy's pissed off whatever reason because he's not getting
- 40:02what he wants. And then rings is just kind of
- 40:05like. I want to race.
- 40:07I want to race. Yeah,
- 40:24I do think that Cuatro Arrow may need to go talk to like like a
- 40:31Rafael Nadal, like a Djokovic, like a Michael Jordan, people
- 40:36who had to get over adversity and and deal with the tough
- 40:39times, right? Because it's all when you, when
- 40:41you, when you grow up winning, you don't know what it's like to
- 40:45lose. You don't know what it's like.
- 40:47It's different when you grow up, you're losing and you have to
- 40:49learn how to win. You know, I'm saying when you've
- 40:51been winning and all of a sudden you're taking Ells, you got to
- 40:55learn how to process that and deal with that.
- 40:57And I think like, you know, you look at Djokovic, he had to get
- 41:01to the point where he had to even break down his diet to be
- 41:04able to beat Nadal and be able to meet beat Federer.
- 41:06You know, Michael Jordan had to beef up and get stronger to be
- 41:10able to deal with the and go through the pigeons and all
- 41:13that. So I mean, I think for
- 41:16Quatararo, where he's, he's been up there and now he's going
- 41:20through his adversity. Like I it's, it's, you know, a
- 41:22lot of it's mental because you know, if you in any sport, if
- 41:26you trust the process, eventually you get there.
- 41:29If everybody buys into that process and everybody's moving
- 41:31as a team, usually that's the team that wins that everyone
- 41:35that's buying in and, and, and, and making sure they're on
- 41:38tight. So, you know, what are your
- 41:41thoughts, Tyson for Quatraro, for Yamaha?
- 41:45Is it, is it just let's get ready for 27 and just get
- 41:49through the year? It sounds like Quatroara might
- 41:52leave. And we'll talk a lot a little
- 41:53bit after this about the rumors, stuff like that.
- 41:57What are your thoughts on where Yamaha is is, you know, is Jack
- 42:00Miller and Top Rock doing too much showboating?
- 42:05I mean, listen, if you if you got fans, you got to keep them
- 42:08happy. And if they bind your merch and
- 42:10their sponsors are happy, they're happy even if you're not
- 42:13winning. So sometimes you got to be the
- 42:15Harlem Globetrotters. I was just gonna say that I was
- 42:20like, I was thinking, I can't remember if this is true or not,
- 42:23but I'm pretty sure like circus clowns originally became a thing
- 42:26to like entertain the crowd while the next actor animals
- 42:29were being prepped to come out. And so that's that's Primack
- 42:33this year. They're they're part of the the
- 42:39celebration committee at Yamaha and their job is to ensure team
- 42:44chemistry and morale for top for Quatro.
- 42:47And that's it. Yamaha is going to need to throw
- 42:50a lot of pizza parties and I don't know, I mean, this is
- 42:54corporate. Well, it's not corporate
- 42:55America. So they may back up a truck for
- 42:57him, but we'll see it sounds. Like they did the last couple of
- 43:00years is that the rumors are true.
- 43:03I mean, if they aren't true, then he's an idiot and should
- 43:06have left sooner. So as you guys said, I don't
- 43:11really know if he has an option. Like we can wait, we can wait
- 43:14for rumors on where he's going to go.
- 43:15But but, yeah, from what I've heard, preliminary for the
- 43:19season is that they've lost some of their quality pace with going
- 43:23to the V4, which was kind of all they had going for him last
- 43:27year, in which we saw that Quattro could blast his way in
- 43:31the first lap or two based off his good quality.
- 43:33Stay with the top three. And then just hope the rest of
- 43:37the guys chew through their tires and start dropping back
- 43:40before he chewed through his tires.
- 43:42And then, you know, stick with it that way.
- 43:45And I just, I don't know if that's going to be possible this
- 43:48year. I'm sure some rain and some, you
- 43:51know, adverse track circumstances will give the
- 43:54Primek boys some good opportunities to get some
- 43:56points. But yeah, they're probably it's
- 43:59not going to be a fun year for any of them.
- 44:03I like top rack, you know, he did an amazing job.
- 44:07Look at where the BMWs are in World Super Break right now.
- 44:09Meanwhile, Top Rack would have been like, you know, hugging
- 44:12Bulliga's bumper if if not being in front, like he's going to
- 44:15have a rough year this year too. But I this is probably the best
- 44:19situation for him though, because like if he was on a
- 44:22Ducati rolling up in 13th, 14th place because he's getting used
- 44:26to the bike and the rest of the Ducatis are in the top ten, he
- 44:29would have been out in a year. Him and Primack just chilling
- 44:33with Miller, you know, 20th to 15th right there, people.
- 44:36No one's going to notice him. He's going to be, you know,
- 44:39happy go lucky almost like, you know, I feel like Danny Ricardo
- 44:41kind of deal on the grid, just like, you know, cool, chill guy.
- 44:45And then hopefully you can figure this stuff out and like,
- 44:48you know, figure out the bike and actually like race it like
- 44:50we know he can. But I doubt it will turn out
- 44:54that way for him. But I hope it does.
- 44:56Yeah, I agree. And you know, I was talking
- 44:58about this, you know, because there's there's a lot of over
- 45:01the course of history, they've been a lot of world super bike
- 45:04champions that's gone into Moto GP and not a lot of them is add
- 45:08to my knowledge. I don't know if any has won a
- 45:10championship, much less a gang or races.
- 45:13Yeah, I don't think so. You know.
- 45:15Was Colin Edwards the most successful?
- 45:19Came in and got Naviaji Bayless came in and you know Edwards got
- 45:24on the podium, but he never won but he got on the podium a bunch
- 45:27of times that came over there's some others that came over, but
- 45:35it's it it's you know you know you know crutch flow came over
- 45:39right you know he. Was super sport.
- 45:42He came over. Oh, he's super sport.
- 45:44Yeah. And so it's it's it's not easy.
- 45:48And, and I know last year, I think a lot of people kind of,
- 45:51you know, drank the juice of what he was doing and, and world
- 45:55Super Bike to think like, Oh yeah, he's just going to come
- 45:58and smack up these Moto GP guys because clearly, you know, they,
- 46:02they don't, they're not quick. And from what I was reading,
- 46:05like a lot of the stuff that he's doing on that bike is just
- 46:08because like maybe not just because, but a lot of reason has
- 46:11to do with like those frames just aren't as stiff as the Moto
- 46:15GP ones are. And then you get out of the Moto
- 46:17GP, they don't do any of those sorts of things because it's
- 46:20just all of that force is going directly into the front tire,
- 46:24whereas if you have less stiff frames, like some of that force
- 46:28will twist the frame instead of going directly into the tire.
- 46:32So or the swing arm or, you know, whatever the triple trees,
- 46:35you know, the forks, like all that, you know, that goes into,
- 46:37you know, the, the rigidity, rigidity of your chassis.
- 46:39But. And, and he'll probably will get
- 46:42it. I don't think, I don't think
- 46:43he's going to get it in the first year.
- 46:44Bashanini Usually we see like we've seen the guys over the
- 46:47course of, you know, the last five years when they jump on a
- 46:49new bike, that some people struggle for a year, some people
- 46:53struggle for a couple of years, some people struggle a lot
- 46:55longer and never figure it out. Raul Fernandez, He struggled for
- 46:59what, four years, 3-4 years down?
- 47:00He won a race this year or last year.
- 47:03Exactly, exactly. And that's fortunate because you
- 47:05know, Ika, Luka Ono didn't get that opportunity, Gardner didn't
- 47:09get that opportunity. You know, Sam Lowe's didn't get
- 47:12that opportunity on the pro year when he came in, you know, all
- 47:15these all guys that did one year Moto GP and got pushed out, you
- 47:19know what I mean? Bought.
- 47:20Him like four more years. I was like, he's gone this
- 47:25season or next season, and then he won that race and I was like,
- 47:28yeah, yeah, three more years, three years, you know?
- 47:32I, I think, I think he did the, the Djinn Antonio, because the
- 47:37same thing this year would have if he didn't start winning
- 47:41Racini, he was going to be automotive GP as well.
- 47:43And then he started winning and look where he's at now.
- 47:46He's getting the factory bike over Morbideli and Morbideli was
- 47:50a much better rider than him and Moto 2.
- 47:53And and so, you know, we do see that.
- 47:55I'm happy for our, I think, I think Raul came in into Moto GP
- 48:00too soon. I know when you're called, you
- 48:01got to go, but he came here with Remy and I don't think he was
- 48:07ready at that age. And he only did one year in Moto
- 48:102, right? And, and so, so I mean, I'm a
- 48:14happy for him because I think he's a talented rider and, and
- 48:17I'm glad to see it working out now and stuff like that.
- 48:20But let's get into the let's get into the rumor mills.
- 48:24We, we, we are we, we. I've heard, I've seen on social
- 48:26media that contracts are already signed.
- 48:29If, if, if it's to be told it's true.
- 48:31Acosta's already signed back, 9 is already signed.
- 48:34Martinez has already signed. Qatarar was already signed, you
- 48:39know, for 27 because this is everybody got a seat for 26.
- 48:42Obviously. Let's start with the first one,
- 48:45Acosta going to Ducati. Does that make sense for Ducati
- 48:51to get rid of their two time championship champion?
- 48:54For a non race winner Moto GP rider, no.
- 48:59No, no. Certainly not the loyal choice.
- 49:08And I'm, and you know me, I'm not a dude, not a huge Ducati
- 49:11fan. I mean, I love, I love the
- 49:13manufacturer, but to do that, it'd be like, that's that.
- 49:18I'm not a gambler either, but that is a huge, huge gamble to
- 49:22put somebody in that not just that position to be like, OK,
- 49:26you've, you know, barely won any races.
- 49:29We've got a two time champion here.
- 49:32I mean, who has more, you know? Yeah, no.
- 49:38No, no. I.
- 49:40Can see both sort of sides of the coin.
- 49:44There's pros and cons to, you know, should they have done it?
- 49:46Should they have not have done it?
- 49:50I don't know. It's tough.
- 49:51Like I like Ben. Yeah, especially with his
- 49:54performances and testing. I mean, we'll see how the season
- 49:56goes, but it looks like they figured it out.
- 49:58And I, I think I actually heard that the the issue that everyone
- 50:01was having on that 26th bike bike was the whole shot device.
- 50:05They wanted to keep that under wraps.
- 50:06And then eventually Alex let it leak and then Pekko let it leak
- 50:09and here we are. But it seems they figured that
- 50:12out and he's, you know, back to his form.
- 50:14So it could be like a huge fumble for them.
- 50:17I I think this is going to be one of those decisions where
- 50:19it's going to be it'll be written in hindsight where
- 50:23sometimes they'll make a choice like signing Marc Marquez, like
- 50:26we all when they signed Marc Marquez for Jorge Martin, like,
- 50:29did anybody really question that?
- 50:31Like, I wasn't questioning that. I did.
- 50:33I did. You did, yes, 100% and.
- 50:37And Mark. Mark is.
- 50:38And I don't care. I felt this about, you know, you
- 50:40know, when when you haven't won a championship since Casey
- 50:45Stoner and this guy gives you 2 in a row, he's your God.
- 50:49Come on. I mean, and you know. 1-2 in a
- 50:53row without mark. Yeah, if it doesn't matter.
- 50:56I mean, it don't matter. I mean, you got Mark, gotta show
- 50:58up. You gotta show up, bro.
- 50:59You gotta show up. You know what I'm saying?
- 51:00I my fault you didn't show up. I I didn't get you drunk.
- 51:05Mark Mark is hobbling to his bike every day in the early
- 51:09twenty 20s. You know, no leg, no arm.
- 51:14Don't get me wrong, I get it. I get it from a, from a business
- 51:17standpoint, but I would, for one, I would have kept
- 51:19Bastardini and and and and and Petco.
- 51:24And because the Ducati is winning the, it doesn't matter
- 51:27who's on the Ducati. They were going to win the
- 51:29championship the past four years like they did, and they're
- 51:31probably going to win next year. Doesn't matter who's on it,
- 51:34right? They didn't.
- 51:34They didn't need Marc Marquez to win a championship because they
- 51:37were going to win it. But that's not the choice that
- 51:39they make. I know that.
- 51:41Make the choice on who Who do I think should win it?
- 51:45They who do I know is going to win it on my motorcycle?
- 51:49They could not afford for Mark to go to Aprilia.
- 51:52Like if he if Mark went to Aprilia, I could see him winning
- 51:55the championship last year. Like, it may not have it may not
- 51:58have been as dominant of a season, but I definitely think
- 52:01he probably would have won it. Yeah, And, and, and this is
- 52:03where the lawyer to come in, because I think they should have
- 52:05been loyal to Pekko and I think they should have been loyal to
- 52:07Martin because Martin bought them a championship and it is a
- 52:10gamble. Listen, you know, and, and I'll
- 52:13go back to basketball. Kobe stayed with the Lakers,
- 52:17Jordan stayed with the Bulls, these Patrick Ewin stayed with
- 52:21the with the Knicks and and blah, blah, blah, right.
- 52:24And that's cool to see. Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 52:27There's something to that and I get it.
- 52:29You know, numbers run and there's a difference between the
- 52:32person that started a company versus the shareholders that
- 52:35bought the company. You know what I'm saying?
- 52:38So I get it. But I, I do think that like, you
- 52:42know, from fans watching it and young kids coming up and parents
- 52:46of young kids watching it and seeing it, you know, it like it
- 52:50sticks with me. Like damn, bro, like Ducati,
- 52:52like they had eight bikes on the grid.
- 52:54There was going to be Ducati that one they had six bikes on
- 52:56the grid. It was going to be a Ducati.
- 52:57Like I like, yeah, you're going to sell more bikes, right.
- 53:03But at the same time Marquez was was was was shit and all you on
- 53:07that harder for so many years and disrespecting the Ducati for
- 53:10so many years that like why would you put this dude on a.
- 53:13Ducati because. They didn't want it to happen
- 53:16again. They already experienced it in
- 53:21the late twenty 10s. You know what I'm saying?
- 53:24And, and so that's, that's my, that's that, that's all I, I, I,
- 53:30it'd be one thing if they weren't winning with, with, with
- 53:32these guys, right? If they were winning with these
- 53:34guys, it's a no brainer, but it's just kind of like pro, like
- 53:37these guys had it, they had it. They let Marquez sit on that
- 53:40Honda. And don't get me wrong, and I
- 53:42will also say this, I think if Marquez was still on a Honda, he
- 53:46might have had a good chance to win it last year because of how
- 53:48Mir and how Luca did. I think that Mark could have won
- 53:54or be second or second or third in the championship, if not
- 53:57winning it last year on a Honda just based on how the Honda did.
- 54:01And if we want to say Marquez is the alien.
- 54:03And if these guys were able to do what they did on the Honda
- 54:05last year, I think Marquez would have knocked it would have would
- 54:08have brought it across and and finish it last year.
- 54:10So I also think that I. Think it would have probably
- 54:14came third in the championship if it was on a Honda.
- 54:17I don't think it probably would have been second.
- 54:19But like I said, we had. I remember.
- 54:21Listen, listen, Listen, man, listen.
- 54:24Marquez won by like 200 points in that Honda.
- 54:29He could have, he could have lost 150 points and still won
- 54:32the championship because the rest of the other riders didn't
- 54:35have the numbers. And like I said, that's when he
- 54:37go going to the Alien Syndrome. Does it sound like there's
- 54:41nobody in there like an alien like that like him anymore?
- 54:44Yeah. Put him almost on anything.
- 54:46Put him on a freaking bicycle. He's gonna win something.
- 54:48Yeah, OK, All right. So, but I mean, Marquez is here
- 54:51now and he's on a Ducati and love him and hate him.
- 54:54You know, it's not. And I'll say for me, it's not a
- 54:56guy. I don't hate him.
- 54:57I just don't like what Ducati did.
- 54:58I think they should have. I would have kept my guys that I
- 55:01won with and you say to a Pat Riley, you know what I'm saying?
- 55:04You see, with certain coaches and stuff like that, they keep
- 55:07the guys even though they know they're better, you know,
- 55:09because there's some things that people can do that that you may
- 55:12not show up on the stats and I'll leave it there.
- 55:16So let's move on to the other room is so Acosta might replace
- 55:19Bagnaya. Quatarara might go to Honda.
- 55:24Is is does that make sense for Quatarara?
- 55:26It's the. Only choice really.
- 55:30He he can take a satellite job and go to and go to Grassini.
- 55:35Pull the Marquez move. And.
- 55:37Yeah, you can put on Marquez, right?
- 55:40And then replace Marquez when Marquez leaves.
- 55:43And for one year, he can do a one year deal with Marquez, with
- 55:46Grassini and so you. Think Mark, you think Alex would
- 55:48be good with Yamaha there? No.
- 55:51Well, so continue with the rumor.
- 55:52It sounds like Alex Marquez might be going to KTM.
- 55:55That's. Also what I heard, so there's a
- 55:59seat available. I've also heard that it's not
- 56:04been released yet, but Petco has all but pretty much signed for
- 56:08Aprilia. Yeah, exactly.
- 56:10That deal is done. And and and yeah and, and if I
- 56:14was Petco I would too based on what Ducati is doing because
- 56:17bro, y'all doing too much. And then as together I think
- 56:20should be actually a pretty good, a very solid competitive
- 56:23pair. I agree.
- 56:25I agree. I.
- 56:26Think Ducati is not doing enough for Petco?
- 56:29So yeah, not say he's going to abandon shit, but for him to go
- 56:33to Aprilia, I think it would be a smart move.
- 56:35Oh come on man. Like, listen, man, I won one and
- 56:36two for you and ain't nobody won since Casey.
- 56:39Like, come on, I, I hate to say this.
- 56:42When we look back at it, we're going to remember Petco's we're
- 56:45going to talk about Petco's one and two because they he he
- 56:48killed the drought. You know what I'm saying?
- 56:52Martinez for the Red Sox and then and and and Pedro for the
- 56:55Red Sox either O 4 like they're going to live forever.
- 56:59It's not this, not the fifth one they got or whatever one they
- 57:01got. It's that first one as after
- 57:03that drought, you know what I'm saying?
- 57:04So. Yeah.
- 57:06So, I mean, if you're not going to, you know, give me not say, a
- 57:11good machine something like that.
- 57:12But if you don't give me the the kudos that I deserve, then all
- 57:16right, I'm out. Yeah, no, I, I, which is
- 57:18unfortunate. I mean, it's motorcycle racing
- 57:20and you know, I mean, I think, you know, we'll see because,
- 57:24because if if Petco does go to Aprilia, we'll we'll see if he
- 57:28can win on a different bike and it's a different challenge and
- 57:30so forth. So yeah, so Pecker going to
- 57:32Aprilia, There's a rumor. So where does that leave Renz
- 57:38Mir? Who's who for sure.
- 57:42You know Martine, right? Because where, where does
- 57:45Martine go if Pecker comes to to to Aprilia, if he goes to Honda,
- 57:50it's it's kind of like, you know, you got the corner suite,
- 57:53now you're on the 3rd floor. Now you in the basement try to
- 57:58tell you something. I don't know if he's going to
- 58:03have a seat with the VR 4016. So I mean, I mean, there's not a
- 58:08lot of Lex, there's not a lot of space left to go to that you can
- 58:13actually really be either competitive with or at least
- 58:18able to not not design, but kind of focus on building up, like
- 58:24they said, LCR, Honda and kind of getting them back up to where
- 58:28they need to be at. So I mean, there's very little
- 58:30to go through. Yeah, go ahead.
- 58:33Oh, I thought he was going to say something to Tyson.
- 58:37Yeah. So I mean, I think it'll be
- 58:39interesting the end of 2027 because, I mean, last year we
- 58:43only lost how many? We only lost a couple of riders
- 58:47last year for Moto GPI. Think this.
- 58:52If I remember right. We samcat and and Oliver.
- 58:59Oliver, Oliver, Oliver Riviera, blah blah blah.
- 59:02His name. It was somebody.
- 59:04Else Samcat, samcat samcat Cantra.
- 59:06Yeah, Samcat Cantra. Miguel Rivera.
- 59:09And that's it. No.
- 59:11No, don't only only have two rookies, man.
- 59:13OK. So yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 59:16You mentioned about some cat last year.
- 59:18It's kind of like he's a great rider, but he's constantly like
- 59:22last place, let's replace him. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 59:25Now, which is unfortunate. He's with Honda and World Super
- 59:27Bike, but him and Jake Dixon, the boys are broken up.
- 59:32So it's a it's a tough, it was a tough outing for Honda because
- 59:34both their factory guys are recovery recovering right now.
- 59:40Yeah, OK. He was a good writer.
- 59:42What am I saying? He he should have been replaced
- 59:44years ago to for someone who can give them more feedback and give
- 59:48them a little bit more knowledge, track knowledge and
- 59:51and race skill knowledge so that they can actually, you know,
- 59:54progress that motorcycle because they haven't really progressed
- 59:56it besides Yohan. Listen man, the year before that
- 1:00:01was Takadakagami. Sam Cat only did one year back.
- 1:00:06And even Taco was doing like 3 or 4 years, but he was sort of
- 1:00:11kind of in the back. He did like.
- 1:00:13He did like. 15 placement back in the back again.
- 1:00:16You only got like 5 points in the whole freaking season.
- 1:00:19It's kind of OK, yeah. I mean that that was that was
- 1:00:22more of I think that was more marketing for the Japanese fan.
- 1:00:26And I and I know with Aya Gur growing up per year, I think
- 1:00:29they wanted him to go on that Honda and he kind of broke that.
- 1:00:33And then since some cat didn't do well, that's why in, in the
- 1:00:36Michel is not on LCR this year, right?
- 1:00:39Because they don't have a Japanese rider, which is
- 1:00:41unfortunate. I mean, when you look at it, you
- 1:00:43know, there's no Americans in Moto GP and we'd love to get
- 1:00:45another American Moto GP. So it's not just the Japanese or
- 1:00:50the Australians or, you know, the, the Turkish, I mean, you
- 1:00:54know what I'm saying? So it'll be nice to have more
- 1:00:56nationalities in Moto GP. There's not a lot of slots.
- 1:01:00That's the downside and but it does help when you got a bunch
- 1:01:04of people around you. So if you look at top Rock,
- 1:01:07that's a market that's untapped. And, and so there's a lot of
- 1:01:09money for Moto GP there. The Australian market, there's a
- 1:01:12lot of money for Moto GP. Same thing with the South
- 1:01:14Africa. So I, I mean, I think you'll see
- 1:01:16these riders staying Moto GP more so because you know, of
- 1:01:21what they, they bring to the sport than actually what they
- 1:01:25finish on the, on, on NRA, which is absolutely.
- 1:01:28True. It is what it is before we get
- 1:01:32out of here guys. So we're doing this Be Forever
- 1:01:35Cool championship. It's points based.
- 1:01:38At the end of the year, you guys get a children.
- 1:01:39Whoever wins, we're going to add up the points.
- 1:01:43You know, you get to pick, you know, three riders each round.
- 1:01:46This is, you know, fantasy football or fantasy motorcycle
- 1:01:49racing without the technology. So you pick three writers where
- 1:01:57they finish on the grid. Those are the points you get.
- 1:02:00So, you know, it's, it's pretty straightforward.
- 1:02:05You know, we'll, we'll start. If you need some time to think
- 1:02:08of who you think is going to finish, I'll name my 3 since
- 1:02:12I'm, you know, I guess I get to play with my points, but I kind
- 1:02:14of have to keep it the same because that's not Oh, I guess I
- 1:02:18gotta I might have to abstain actually from this.
- 1:02:20Like I already, I already gave my, my, my 3.
- 1:02:23So I'll be double dipping. It would be like double rounds
- 1:02:26for me and everyone else got single rounds.
- 1:02:30So I got to I got to, I got to, you know, pull myself out of
- 1:02:34this one. All right, that that'll keep the
- 1:02:35numbers right. So, yeah.
- 1:02:36So we'll start, we'll start with if you guys need more, a little
- 1:02:41more time, I'll do a little pee. Public service announcement,
- 1:02:45please, like go ahead. I was going to.
- 1:02:47Say so. This is like the the podium.
- 1:02:50Yeah, it doesn't matter if it's just where they finish in the
- 1:02:52race. So if they.
- 1:02:52Finish if I guess top brackets 20th and he gets 20th I get
- 1:02:57points but if he gets 19 I don't get any points.
- 1:02:59No, no, no, you just you just, you just pick three riders and
- 1:03:03then where they finish on the on the point list or non points
- 1:03:06list is what you get. So if you pick Mark and he get
- 1:03:09and he wins the race, you get 25 points.
- 1:03:11If you pick. If you pick Peko and he got a
- 1:03:14DNF you get no points. OK, sounds good.
- 1:03:19Cool. So you know, you think about
- 1:03:21that. I'll thank everyone for like for
- 1:03:25commenting. I really appreciate what's been
- 1:03:27happening. All the followers, all the
- 1:03:29subscribers, some of us are setting us straight when we
- 1:03:32misspeak and stuff like that. Really appreciate all that.
- 1:03:35Definitely check out Be Forever, cool.com.
- 1:03:37We got some cool stuff coming down the pipeline.
- 1:03:41We're doing this fund that's kicking off the first week of
- 1:03:44bike week for it's called the Be Forever Cool Rider Fund,
- 1:03:50essentially racer fund. And it's gonna, we're gonna be
- 1:03:52supporting 1 racer in Motor America this year in the
- 1:03:57endeavors. And we're asking you guys to
- 1:03:59donate $1.00 and, and support the cause.
- 1:04:03And some of that proceeds will go to a rider.
- 1:04:06We are going to announce the rider who were selected this
- 1:04:09year the week of Daytona. So definitely keep to keep it
- 1:04:14locked for that. As you guys know, racing is very
- 1:04:17expensive at the highest level in Motor GP.
- 1:04:21We're also bike and Motor America.
- 1:04:23It's it's crazy and it's we've been talking about this for
- 1:04:26years on the show where, you know, there's a lot of fast guys
- 1:04:30and gals, but they can't get on a racetrack because they just
- 1:04:33can't afford it. So we're hoping to be able to
- 1:04:36contribute to their racing fund and and hopefully keep them
- 1:04:40racing in Motor America, America in this case.
- 1:04:42And if it's successful, you never know.
- 1:04:44So go to be forever cool.com, check out the website, learn
- 1:04:48more about it. It only cost you a dollar it.
- 1:04:51You know, the motorcycle communities is large enough that
- 1:04:55you know, donating the dollar is is easy enough and you know, we
- 1:04:59can support someone and hopefully they can be successful
- 1:05:02in in motor America. So very excited for that.
- 1:05:05On that note, guys, you got you want to pick your writers that
- 1:05:08you think is our way, they're going to finish or you don't
- 1:05:10matter where they go, I'm gonna finish, but pick your three
- 1:05:12riders. I know my 3.
- 1:05:14Go for it. Alex.
- 1:05:18OK. I've got for my #2 I still love
- 1:05:26him to death. Franco.
- 1:05:28OK. And my numero tres is going to
- 1:05:33be Mark. OK.
- 1:05:35All right. I'm throwing a wild card now.
- 1:05:38Throwing a wild. Card.
- 1:05:40Because I know Jorge is going to be up there.
- 1:05:42Jorge is going to be up there somewhere.
- 1:05:45I'm just hoping that he doesn't break himself.
- 1:05:47So my my wild card is Martin. All right, pick 3.
- 1:05:51So really stick we take the wild card.
- 1:05:54It's only wild card in name, not.
- 1:05:56Important. It's an honorable mention, not a
- 1:05:58wild card. I see.
- 1:06:03My 2 1/2. My 2 1/2 Martinez.
- 1:06:12No doubt. What do you got, Tyson?
- 1:06:16I'm going to go with the Marquez brothers and then Betseki.
- 1:06:19OK, OK. I mean, that's pretty much it
- 1:06:21for a lot of for a lot of the guys is Marquez, Bez.
- 1:06:26You can see a lot of those podiums.
- 1:06:28Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So it'll be interesting I, you
- 1:06:31know, fold those closure I pick Bez, Pekko and Acosta this round
- 1:06:35interesting. So I.
- 1:06:37See, I see how it is. This is an actual Rossi fan
- 1:06:41here. You can't.
- 1:06:42Let him know all. These years later.
- 1:06:44That's what it is. Is that what that means?
- 1:06:49I did not look at it that way at all.
- 1:06:52Wow, I don't know what I'm doing.
- 1:06:54I'm the dude disguising the dude playing the dude.
- 1:07:00Oh my God, it's the. Next to the dude, around the
- 1:07:02dude. Yeah.
- 1:07:06From the the the actual, I don't remember what they called him,
- 1:07:09but the all the the black guy who would be what was his name?
- 1:07:14He'd like the booty, sweat, drink or whatever.
- 1:07:17Yeah, yeah. Well the actor came out and was
- 1:07:23joking around and he was like dude, I swear to God RDJ was in
- 1:07:26character the entire time, like walking me like what's up
- 1:07:30brother? He's like who are you talking to
- 1:07:31man? We're not brothers.
- 1:07:35Yeah, yeah, he, yeah, he was like he that he did.
- 1:07:38He didn't say that took a lot out of him, but he also said he
- 1:07:41was young at the time and he appreciated a lot more now.
- 1:07:43But he was just like, you know, they they got me to a place
- 1:07:46where they got what they wanted out of him and in the acting.
- 1:07:48So it's pretty wild. I I still, I still like that
- 1:07:51movie, man. It's one of my favorites.
- 1:07:53Like I quoted all the time. It's.
- 1:07:55Hilarious. Oh my goodness.
- 1:07:59Hilarious. All right, man.
- 1:08:00I mean, I think we got a good list and and apparently I'm a
- 1:08:04Rossi fan and so I don't know that you.
- 1:08:07Already knew that. The selection spoke for itself.
- 1:08:17I just confirmed. I just confirmed it.
- 1:08:20It's two choices. He either loves Rossi or hates
- 1:08:23winning. I don't think he hates winning.
- 1:08:26Oh. OK, OK, OK.
- 1:08:28Well, you know, I mean, I do think that Bez can win.
- 1:08:31I do think that Acosta can win. And if Pekka finds his way,
- 1:08:35he'll he'll win too. So I mean, I think.
- 1:08:37Costa can win with what evidence?
- 1:08:40If everybody else falls. There we go that.
- 1:08:43That will work. Let me go.
- 1:08:44Back. Let me go back to it.
- 1:08:46Acosta can win. Let me go back to it.
- 1:08:48I almost had you. Win by inch or a mile, winning
- 1:08:56is still winning. Canada's learning that this
- 1:09:00week. Oh, God, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:03It's, it's been, it's been good for the USI, you know, you know,
- 1:09:07listen, I mean, between Russia and between the Canadians that
- 1:09:10in hockey, they've been kicking our butt for a while.
- 1:09:12So it's definitely. Like this is our 4th sport that
- 1:09:20we kind of care about and we still compete with you guys at A
- 1:09:23at the similar level. Right.
- 1:09:25Honest. Yeah, could.
- 1:09:26You imagine if like basketball players or football players like
- 1:09:29LeBron, LeBron is an athlete, a specimen of a man.
- 1:09:34That dude actually would like started skating at three years
- 1:09:36old. Yeah, these other countries
- 1:09:38would be done. Well, you know, I, I, you know,
- 1:09:41get off topic a little bit. I show speed.
- 1:09:44Young kids watching, I show speed.
- 1:09:47They're going to say, Hey, you're like, oh, I can play all
- 1:09:48the sports, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:09:50And, and, and be somewhat at in the top percentile.
- 1:09:54Like, you know, I show speed is showing some of these guys when
- 1:09:56they when they and, and women, when he's competing with them.
- 1:09:59It's just kind of like, here's a kid that has no, I mean, I I'm
- 1:10:03sure he's training right, because they got a lot of money,
- 1:10:05but for the most part, he's challenging all these people
- 1:10:08and, and he's doing fairly well. So, so it's like a kids, the
- 1:10:11young kids seeing that now sitting here like, Oh yeah, all
- 1:10:14the things I want to do, I'm going to go do it.
- 1:10:18You know the you like, you know you because we hear, I hear
- 1:10:20stories of like Randy Mal Moss playing basketball and football
- 1:10:23and some of these guys that play football, basketball and
- 1:10:26baseball, you know, now they're going to add like 3 more sports
- 1:10:29to it. Yeah.
- 1:10:32I didn't know that Randy Moss was actually playing basketball
- 1:10:36before you started playing football.
- 1:10:38Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. They don't do it.
- 1:10:40They don't. Yeah.
- 1:10:40Professional like a professional level basketball player before
- 1:10:43you play football. Yeah, he was him and him and
- 1:10:46Jason Williams went to the same high school and, and, and, and
- 1:10:50Jason Williams was was was was the point guard and he was also
- 1:10:53the QB in, in West Virginia. I did find out about that.
- 1:10:56Yeah, I did find out about J Dub White.
- 1:10:59Chocolate. Yeah, No, no, listen, I mean,
- 1:11:03but you know, I think we all know people like that or like
- 1:11:06that and you know, that that, that, that are good at a few
- 1:11:09things. And you know, you know, so it
- 1:11:13we, we hope to get more people being able to play at the high
- 1:11:17level and stuff like that, but it's going to be crazy in the
- 1:11:19future. Definitely, definitely.
- 1:11:21So I agree. No doubt.
- 1:11:23All right, man. I want to thank everyone for
- 1:11:25coming on. My name is Rex 45.
- 1:11:27It's the Be Forever Cool podcast.
- 1:11:28I want to thank Jordan Long from Jordan Long Racing, Tyson as
- 1:11:33well for coming on Peace.
