- 0:09Speaker 2: The Worlds of Vegetal Podcast Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. Your
- 0:19Speaker 2: shows are all positive. It's it's unbelievable one day. Yeah,
- 0:24Speaker 2: we're back to Homerville. But that's fine.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Drat started a walk down, like one of his goals is, yeah,
- 0:29Speaker 3: you know what, I'm not proud. I'm not gonna tell
- 0:31Speaker 3: you right. Well, I thought they were going to go
- 0:32Speaker 3: right intough mandra in the locker room and be like,
- 0:33Speaker 3: what are your goals?
- 0:34Speaker 4: So well, that would be called being a reporter. I see,
- 0:37Speaker 4: I didn't go to Jay school back. I don't know
- 0:39Speaker 4: good of it questions and the famous exchange between Paul
- 0:43Speaker 4: Perrole Andrew Bloodzel.
- 0:44Speaker 5: You asked that question.
- 0:46Speaker 4: I didn't always just sit around and let all this
- 0:48Speaker 4: let these other nubes do all the work. How they
- 0:50Speaker 4: played offensively is how they want to play.
- 0:52Speaker 2: But you're worried about it, Yeah, they want to be
- 0:55Speaker 2: couldn't be worried about it?
- 0:56Speaker 4: No, I'm that's something that I don't think a lot
- 0:58Speaker 4: of people are.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Worried about but about you. But you are worried about it.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Should I think he just put me in I.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Thought like we were doing picks.
- 1:04Speaker 4: All of a sudden, he put me in the grinder.
- 1:06Speaker 2: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website. For
- 1:10Speaker 2: deals buy a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome the
- 1:15Speaker 2: Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Jillette Stadium, and
- 1:20Speaker 2: we're here for the next two hours talking Patriots as
- 1:23Speaker 2: we always do on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday during the football season.
- 1:27Speaker 2: It's Paul, It's me. Later on it'll be Deuce and
- 1:30Speaker 2: Evan and Alex.
- 1:32Speaker 4: We're hoping. Alex had some some car issues coming in
- 1:36Speaker 4: this morning.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So car issues hoped she blew.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Out a tire. Oh oh, that's because she didn't, you know,
- 1:43Speaker 4: take your advice.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yeah, get those bridge stones in the run flats. That's right,
- 1:47Speaker 2: you get those run flats. You can at least make
- 1:49Speaker 2: it the worst.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Trying to think of the term run.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, while you're at work, you can somebody come and
- 1:53Speaker 2: take care of it. You know, she's probably running on
- 1:56Speaker 2: those baloney tires.
- 1:58Speaker 4: You gotta well, that's generally what I do.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I tell my wife. I tell my wife, you gotta
- 2:02Speaker 2: take care of your car. You have to make you
- 2:05Speaker 2: got to get it tuned up. You gotta, you know,
- 2:08Speaker 2: maintain your tires. Look at the tread, stick your finger
- 2:11Speaker 2: in that tread and see what's going on. And don't
- 2:13Speaker 2: wait because at the end of the day, if something happens,
- 2:16Speaker 2: I'm the one that's gonna have to take care of it.
- 2:18Speaker 2: So you gotta take care of everybody.
- 2:21Speaker 4: You know the seriousness that Fred took that because when
- 2:24Speaker 4: he directs it right at the camera, that's a message
- 2:27Speaker 4: directly to you.
- 2:28Speaker 2: That's right. It's a public service announcement. It's a public
- 2:32Speaker 2: all right, Paul. So what do we got? We got
- 2:34Speaker 2: the first injury reporter.
- 2:35Speaker 4: We do we do the week? You know, first, I'll
- 2:38Speaker 4: just you know, sort of set the scene for the day.
- 2:40Speaker 4: We just had a chance to listen to the offensive
- 2:44Speaker 4: coaching staff.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Last week.
- 2:45Speaker 4: We had the defensive coordinator DeMarcus and I have.
- 2:48Speaker 2: A question about what something Alex van Pelt said.
- 2:50Speaker 4: We get to that, but we did hear, you know,
- 2:53Speaker 4: Van Pelt spoke from the podium, and then we had
- 2:55Speaker 4: access to a handful of the offensive coaches. Scott Peters,
- 2:59Speaker 4: we got Taylor Embury, the running backs, coach, Tyler Hughes,
- 3:03Speaker 4: the wide receivers coach Bignell. I think it's Bob Bignell,
- 3:07Speaker 4: the tight ends coach. So we had a chance to
- 3:10Speaker 4: talk to a handful of the offensive coaches, but I'm
- 3:13Speaker 4: going to go right to you, Fred, because it sounds
- 3:15Speaker 4: like you have something specific about Alex van Pell.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah. So I wasn't. I didn't hear it live. I
- 3:19Speaker 2: was just I've been in meetings and I was just
- 3:20Speaker 2: kind of looking at some of the quotes that have
- 3:23Speaker 2: been tweeted out. One of the things he said is
- 3:26Speaker 2: back to the Bengals game, there were stuff that he
- 3:28Speaker 2: wished was on the play sheet that wasn't. And I'm wondering,
- 3:32Speaker 2: does that mean because Drake May wasn't in the game
- 3:36Speaker 2: and the playbook was limited, or is it just stuff
- 3:39Speaker 2: that he overlooked.
- 3:41Speaker 4: I took it to be that there's stuff that he
- 3:44Speaker 4: hasn't gotten to yet that he wished he had. Okay,
- 3:47Speaker 4: So that's how I took it. So, I mean, because
- 3:49Speaker 4: you wouldn't have more stuff available with May than No.
- 3:52Speaker 2: But you'd have different stuff maybe.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Different, but you have more available. So we didn't have
- 3:56Speaker 4: some available on it.
- 3:58Speaker 2: So it was volume it wasn't the type of stuff.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I mean, that's what he said, Like, I'm just wondering.
- 4:03Speaker 4: I didn't love it.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Maybe he's itching to get Drake May in there, and
- 4:07Speaker 2: that's a subtle shot to get him in there.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I didn't take it that Okay, I like it as
- 4:11Speaker 4: there was stuff that we haven't put in yet. But
- 4:15Speaker 4: I just would wonder, like either that or stuff I
- 4:18Speaker 4: didn't have, Like I mean, if you take it literally,
- 4:21Speaker 4: it wasn't on my sheet, so you couldn't call it
- 4:22Speaker 4: because it wasn't on your sheet. You know, it's not listed.
- 4:27Speaker 4: But I think it's more probably the former, you know
- 4:30Speaker 4: about just the breath of options probably isn't not everything
- 4:37Speaker 4: is in yet.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Because I guess I was hoping that maybe he was saying, yeah,
- 4:40Speaker 2: you realize, you know what we're The type of plays
- 4:44Speaker 2: were limited with Jacoby, and I could see in that
- 4:47Speaker 2: game that if we had had somebody who could get
- 4:49Speaker 2: the ball down field, who could throw on the move
- 4:51Speaker 2: a little bit better, we would have had some options
- 4:54Speaker 2: in the.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Latter part for sure, because I think May does throw
- 4:57Speaker 4: better on the run. I think getting the ball downfield,
- 5:00Speaker 4: I mean, Jacoby Brissett is an NFL quarterback. He can
- 5:02Speaker 4: throw the ball down.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Accurate too on the move.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Is that's a different that's a different argument.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Okay, anything else that you picked out of the offensive coach.
- 5:10Speaker 4: So there was one thing that he said that and
- 5:13Speaker 4: I haven't really looked at Twitter to see, like he
- 5:15Speaker 4: made a comment that he was surprised that they didn't
- 5:17Speaker 4: see more pressure. They didn't get more pressure against Cincinnati,
- 5:21Speaker 4: and I think people couldn't take a step back and say,
- 5:25Speaker 4: oh my god, they were pressured on in some by
- 5:29Speaker 4: some metrics fifty percent of the past place. But I
- 5:32Speaker 4: think he was talking about in terms of blitz pressure,
- 5:35Speaker 4: and they didn't. Cincinnati did not blitz very often in
- 5:38Speaker 4: the game. I think that's what he was talking about.
- 5:40Speaker 5: So maybe.
- 5:42Speaker 4: It caught them off guard a little bit that they
- 5:44Speaker 4: didn't send extra rushers and therefore they had some things
- 5:48Speaker 4: maybe lined up to beat that kind of pressure, you know,
- 5:52Speaker 4: and they didn't get a chance to use that stuff,
- 5:54Speaker 4: you know. Again, kind of trying to read between the
- 5:57Speaker 4: lines a little bit. But overall, I thought Pelts outed
- 6:00Speaker 4: pretty happy with the performance in the first game.
- 6:03Speaker 5: You know, obviously some.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Things they need to clean up, but he felt I
- 6:07Speaker 4: think he was pretty pretty satisfied with the first effort. Okay,
- 6:11Speaker 4: didn't you get that impression? I mean, you listen to
- 6:12Speaker 4: it after the fact.
- 6:13Speaker 2: No, I didn't get to listen. I just said I
- 6:15Speaker 2: was just looking at tweets that were sent out.
- 6:16Speaker 4: I know you said you didn't see it, you didn't
- 6:18Speaker 4: hear it live. Yeah, but yeah, I nothing really stood out.
- 6:21Speaker 4: But the comment that he made about the play the
- 6:24Speaker 4: play sheet definitely caught my ear as well as yours.
- 6:27Speaker 4: So I don't know exactly what he meant by it,
- 6:30Speaker 4: but I'm not just missing you.
- 6:31Speaker 2: And of course our media didn't follow up on that.
- 6:34Speaker 6: No.
- 6:34Speaker 4: And I will say this too well, I mean we
- 6:37Speaker 4: spend a lot of time sort of critiquing and analyzing
- 6:41Speaker 4: the media, and we don't need to do that. I'm
- 6:43Speaker 4: guilty of that more than probably anybody. So I'm pointing
- 6:46Speaker 4: the finger at myself on that. Yeah, I think there's
- 6:51Speaker 4: a lot of questions that don't need.
- 6:53Speaker 5: To be asked.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Oh yeah, And.
- 6:56Speaker 4: I just I think there are questions that you know, like,
- 7:01Speaker 4: you know, the left tackle didn't make it through the
- 7:03Speaker 4: first quarter, right, what happened? No one asked, right, Like,
- 7:09Speaker 4: I don't know?
- 7:10Speaker 5: Yeah, Like, I just look at it.
- 7:13Speaker 4: It's football like, it's not like World peace. I know,
- 7:16Speaker 4: like you can't ask him a tough question. That's not
- 7:18Speaker 4: even that tough, right. You know the guy played twelve plays.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah and jukes right and was never seen from again.
- 7:28Speaker 5: So I don't know.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah, well we'll see today because we'll get our practice
- 7:34Speaker 2: report later on.
- 7:36Speaker 4: So it is interesting the you know, you you would
- 7:40Speaker 4: sort of previewed that Freddie Seattle Is is dealing with
- 7:45Speaker 4: some injuries right out of the gate. Now I told
- 7:46Speaker 4: you about their offensive line situation yesterday. They're starting, uh,
- 7:51Speaker 4: left tackle opened on pup, so veteran George Fance played
- 7:55Speaker 4: right tackle in the opener. He didn't make it through
- 7:58Speaker 4: the first quarter.
- 7:59Speaker 2: So to the third one.
- 8:01Speaker 4: You know, another player had to come in, you know
- 8:04Speaker 4: for the third one. So Fant did not practice yesterday
- 8:08Speaker 4: with that knee injury. So I would say that it's
- 8:10Speaker 4: not looking good for him. In addition to fans though,
- 8:15Speaker 4: Tyrrell Dotson and h Uchenna Nuasu there are two starting linebackers. Yep,
- 8:23Speaker 4: neither one of them practiced. Nuasu has already been declared out.
- 8:26Speaker 4: They said he's not going to play. I would think
- 8:29Speaker 4: against the Patriots, Fred your inside linebackers are somewhat important players,
- 8:35Speaker 4: don't you think I would think so. The Patriots, we think,
- 8:37Speaker 4: are going to want to try to run the football,
- 8:39Speaker 4: and if you don't have those guys available, I think
- 8:42Speaker 4: that makes the task of stopping the run a little
- 8:44Speaker 4: bit more difficult. So I don't know about dotson situation.
- 8:47Speaker 4: He's listed as a shoulder, but Nuasu, as I said,
- 8:51Speaker 4: I read something that said they've already said that he
- 8:54Speaker 4: will not play. Fant is up.
- 8:57Speaker 5: In the air.
- 8:58Speaker 4: And the biggest one out of all is Kenneth Walker,
- 9:01Speaker 4: because I think that's the one that their offense revolves around.
- 9:04Speaker 4: He's uh, he did d n P with an oblique
- 9:07Speaker 4: the oblique a as I like to say. So four
- 9:09Speaker 4: starting players for Seattle did not participate in the first
- 9:14Speaker 4: practice of the week. That's a good sign for New England.
- 9:16Speaker 4: And meanwhile, City Sow is the only Patriot who didn't practice.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Well, when you're the aggressor, believe it or not, there's
- 9:23Speaker 2: less chance of getting hurt. And we're definitely the aggressor
- 9:27Speaker 2: last week.
- 9:28Speaker 4: When you when you're hitting everybody and you're the hammer
- 9:31Speaker 4: and there the nail nail gets hurt.
- 9:33Speaker 2: That's right. So let's keep let's keep that aggression. But
- 9:37Speaker 2: Seattle wants to hit you in the mouth too.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah, they're they're that type of team as well.
- 9:42Speaker 4: So here's another thing that I didn't really give much
- 9:44Speaker 4: thought to. And I'm going to give Greg Bdard credit
- 9:46Speaker 4: because I mean, I don't know why I didn't give
- 9:49Speaker 4: it much thought. But Greg asked Alex van pelt question
- 9:52Speaker 4: about his familiarity with Mike McDonald from Baltimore, you know,
- 9:57Speaker 4: And obviously we made a lot of Van pelts comfort
- 10:01Speaker 4: level going against Cincinnati last week because it's a division
- 10:03Speaker 4: opponent for him, it's Baltimore too, so he went against
- 10:07Speaker 4: McDonald defenses while with the Browns, you know, and while
- 10:11Speaker 4: McDonald's with the Ravens. So I think that's another uh,
- 10:14Speaker 4: you know, small edge for the Patriots heading into this game. Okay,
- 10:19Speaker 4: I'm not saying. I'm just saying, Fred, So I don't want.
- 10:23Speaker 2: To give it a look for and you know, can
- 10:25Speaker 2: we move the you know, the time of the game
- 10:27Speaker 2: up to like noon or eleven o'clock just to make
- 10:30Speaker 2: it a little tougher on the Seahawks.
- 10:31Speaker 4: It's kind of interesting that that's not a huge thing anymore.
- 10:34Speaker 2: The traveling.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I think I think people know how to travel.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I think like back in the day, you know,
- 10:39Speaker 2: traveling wasn't as convenient, wasn't as comfortable nowadays. I know,
- 10:43Speaker 2: like you know, for the Patriots, we've got their own plane,
- 10:46Speaker 2: the bigger seats, everything's taken care of for the player.
- 10:50Speaker 2: So like you don't, they don't. You don't really lose
- 10:53Speaker 2: any sleep.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Certainly, they study this stuff so much, and they you know,
- 10:58Speaker 4: they have.
- 11:00Speaker 5: You know, the.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Body clock is something that they really they take into
- 11:06Speaker 4: account a lot of these details, sleep studies and things
- 11:09Speaker 4: like that and imprission.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Have we confirmed that Seattle's coming in on Friday?
- 11:13Speaker 4: I have not confirmed that.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I'm assuming they might.
- 11:17Speaker 4: You know, I just was, you know, I was listening
- 11:19Speaker 4: to some of the information on my shows yesterday, and
- 11:25Speaker 4: teams coming west to play on the Eastern time zone
- 11:29Speaker 4: actually have a winning record in the last whatever handful
- 11:32Speaker 4: of seasons it is. And I do think some of
- 11:34Speaker 4: that is overblown both ways too, because you know, is
- 11:38Speaker 4: it like the Niners playing in the mental lands against
- 11:42Speaker 4: the Jets when you know, when the Jets were playing
- 11:44Speaker 4: with Zach Wilson, Yeah, you know, they probably is probably
- 11:47Speaker 4: going to win that game, whether they were ready to play.
- 11:48Speaker 2: The time that Kansas City goes east that.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Well, that's not a West Coast team. But you said
- 11:54Speaker 4: west coast like from the Pacific time zone to the
- 11:56Speaker 4: Eastern times or they.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Count like so three hours, okay, so it has to
- 12:00Speaker 2: be that rams that time Dodgers Seahawks. All right, Friday
- 12:06Speaker 2: Raiders will included in the raiders.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Yeah, were I think? Now, well, this space is still
- 12:12Speaker 4: still three hours, right.
- 12:13Speaker 2: They land here on Friday, they are coming Friday.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 4: I don't remember the West Coast teams doing the the Saturday.
- 12:22Speaker 2: You know what hotel they're in because they got to
- 12:23Speaker 2: pull those fire alarms three in the morning.
- 12:25Speaker 4: You gotta get on that.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I can effort that.
- 12:28Speaker 4: So I just was a little surprised that the records
- 12:31Speaker 4: a little bit better than I would have thought.
- 12:34Speaker 2: All Right, what else we got.
- 12:36Speaker 4: I don't know. Well we can find out we got
- 12:38Speaker 4: we can find out, now what's going on in the
- 12:40Speaker 4: locker room that.
- 12:49Speaker 5: He goes into the locker room. All jingle is.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Get back. That's right, Hi, Mike, I'm back. Hello you
- 13:00Speaker 3: on how are you guys?
- 13:01Speaker 2: Back from the locker room?
- 13:02Speaker 3: Back from the locker room, yeah, it was good, good
- 13:05Speaker 3: good stuff.
- 13:05Speaker 4: What on strike today?
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, they didn't shave, you know.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Oh no, no, I'm growing a beard.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Actually, are you really?
- 13:10Speaker 3: Yeah? No, I just want to bank everybody mad because
- 13:12Speaker 3: there's a lot of people here. When you don't shave,
- 13:13Speaker 3: they're like, you didn't shave. It's like my dad like,
- 13:15Speaker 3: and I'm like, I feel like I'm back in high school, like, no,
- 13:17Speaker 3: shave your face.
- 13:18Speaker 2: And that's why you're growing just to mad.
- 13:22Speaker 3: No, But I was just like today, I don't really
- 13:23Speaker 3: feel like it.
- 13:23Speaker 5: I was a little lazy.
- 13:24Speaker 2: So but seriously, it's a little friend. So you're not
- 13:27Speaker 2: growing about.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I used to do that though. I used to grow
- 13:30Speaker 3: one in between Thanksgiving and Christmas, a little tradition I
- 13:32Speaker 3: had back in La. But it's too gray now. I
- 13:34Speaker 3: feel like it'll be.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Because it was beard. You'll lose that fifty sitcom dapping.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Right right right. Maybe just the mustache. Maybe I'll just
- 13:41Speaker 3: grow that. We'll see how that looks.
- 13:42Speaker 4: I like the gray and the beard. Maybe it's because
- 13:44Speaker 4: it's all my hair is white.
- 13:45Speaker 3: So Paul, you're always telling me about handsome as you're
- 13:47Speaker 3: wicked hair. You're my biggest fan, said a million times.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Start talking to Laine about it a little bit.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Lane doesn't like it. Lane not a fan. You gotta
- 13:55Speaker 3: shave the face for the lady, right, Yeah, need this softless.
- 14:00Speaker 2: So what are we going on in the locker room?
- 14:03Speaker 3: Oh a little bit, you know, just talking to a
- 14:05Speaker 3: lot of people. How crazy it is in there now.
- 14:07Speaker 3: It's just it's so different, And talking to some of
- 14:09Speaker 3: the reporters, it was there's just so much going on
- 14:12Speaker 3: now and there's so many more players and everybody is
- 14:15Speaker 3: able to talk to everybody. And I think you're seeing
- 14:17Speaker 3: some of the news now where you know, everybody's getting
- 14:20Speaker 3: something different now. It's not like, yeah, it's not the
- 14:23Speaker 3: past where all right, we had three stroll today and
- 14:26Speaker 3: this is you know, and this is what the three
- 14:27Speaker 3: guys said, and that's it. There's a lot more stuff like.
- 14:30Speaker 4: The thing that we talked about that, you know, and
- 14:31Speaker 4: Evan told us a little bit about it yesterday, like
- 14:34Speaker 4: he's talked to Drake May and you know, sort of
- 14:37Speaker 4: got a peek into the window of what his first
- 14:40Speaker 4: week as.
- 14:40Speaker 5: The backup was. Like he just posted it.
- 14:42Speaker 3: By the way, so go to Patriots dot Comence people.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Probably don't know what we're talking about like in the past,
- 14:46Speaker 2: when there's only one or two guys there, if all
- 14:50Speaker 2: the media goes to one guy, everybody gets the same
- 14:53Speaker 2: story because they're all at the same availability. But what
- 14:56Speaker 2: Mike Reese used to do is when the scrum would
- 14:59Speaker 2: go this way, he'd go the other way and pick
- 15:01Speaker 2: off the one guy that was by himself. So Reese
- 15:04Speaker 2: would always try to have something different than what the
- 15:07Speaker 2: herd was writing about.
- 15:09Speaker 4: But it's a lot easier to do that.
- 15:11Speaker 2: It's now easy to do that, and I think for
- 15:13Speaker 2: the fan it's much better because you know, you'll go
- 15:17Speaker 2: around you'll read Callahan from the Herald and or you'll
- 15:20Speaker 2: read Karen from Clinis, mass Live, mass Live and sorry,
- 15:28Speaker 2: and you'll get different things.
- 15:29Speaker 7: Yea.
- 15:29Speaker 3: And that's that's been my goal. And I mean the
- 15:32Speaker 3: you know, first couple of years I wrote the Notebook,
- 15:33Speaker 3: and you know, it was a lot of that, and
- 15:35Speaker 3: then last couple of years kind of gotten away from
- 15:37Speaker 3: it a little bit. But now it's that's the goal
- 15:39Speaker 3: every day, is to go and find stuff on my
- 15:41Speaker 3: own that you know, and and write my own stories
- 15:44Speaker 3: and not just and here's what everybody's you know, everyone
- 15:46Speaker 3: knows that stuff that's just the way it was when
- 15:47Speaker 3: we first started, you know, when Brian was still here,
- 15:50Speaker 3: and Brian and I would do that, we'd we'd we'd
- 15:52Speaker 3: sit down, you know, half hour before and say, all,
- 15:55Speaker 3: you know what, what are some of the things that
- 15:57Speaker 3: we can sort of target. Yeah, and we would go
- 15:59Speaker 3: in you know, I don't want to say with a plan,
- 16:01Speaker 3: because you never know, right until you get pushed in
- 16:03Speaker 3: the face your plan.
- 16:05Speaker 4: But we would go in with the plan, and you know,
- 16:07Speaker 4: at least one of us would get something different, and
- 16:10Speaker 4: then one of us would make sure that we're in
- 16:12Speaker 4: on those big scrums in case, you know, the.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Story of the day. You got to have the story
- 16:15Speaker 5: of the day too.
- 16:16Speaker 4: You know, like oh, Randy Moss talked, yeah, right, you know,
- 16:19Speaker 4: like he talked infrequently, so someone had to be in
- 16:21Speaker 4: the scrum.
- 16:22Speaker 5: And then someone would go and yeah, that's FW.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I've been kind of looking at it with you know,
- 16:27Speaker 3: Jacoby Brissett speaks like he's starting quarterback. You got to
- 16:30Speaker 3: you know, show him. But now let's get into you know, today,
- 16:33Speaker 3: I want to write about the tight end. So talk
- 16:35Speaker 3: to Bob Bick now about the tight ends. Then went
- 16:36Speaker 3: into the locker room, talk to Austin Hooper, you know,
- 16:38Speaker 3: so it's uh, it's good. I mean sometimes you start
- 16:40Speaker 3: to do it and then the scrum comes in and
- 16:42Speaker 3: you're like, oh, crap, everyone's gonna have this. But uh,
- 16:44Speaker 3: you know, got enough today, and yeah, it's just I
- 16:46Speaker 3: think it's it's definitely better for the fans.
- 16:48Speaker 5: So with the.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Times, and again this is inside baseball. I know people
- 16:51Speaker 4: don't care about the plights of the media, but the
- 16:54Speaker 4: timing of locker room now makes it more conducive to
- 16:57Speaker 4: do the stuff that Mike and Fred just talked about.
- 17:00Speaker 4: It's amazing because there's more players available because they have
- 17:03Speaker 4: to be here because they're going out to practice.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:05Speaker 3: And I'd say this like in the past, when the
- 17:07Speaker 3: locker rooms at the end of the day, the last
- 17:09Speaker 3: thing you want to do at five point thirty is
- 17:10Speaker 3: all right, now it's time to write, and you got it.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Now It's like I have the show to kind of
- 17:14Speaker 3: think about what guys said and think about what I
- 17:16Speaker 3: want to write about it, and have some time to
- 17:18Speaker 3: kind of marinate on it and you know, write something
- 17:21Speaker 3: better than just you know, it's seven o'clock and I'm like,
- 17:23Speaker 3: I just want to eat dinner, Like you know, get
- 17:24Speaker 3: this thing out. So I just I think this whole
- 17:27Speaker 3: new setup has been really good.
- 17:29Speaker 4: In the locker room today, I did not see.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I did not see it, so.
- 17:32Speaker 4: That would have been something, you know. I you know,
- 17:33Speaker 4: I was in on Taylor Embree a little bit and
- 17:37Speaker 4: just having him listening to him talk about He sort
- 17:41Speaker 4: of said that he felt like Stevenson's style is really
- 17:44Speaker 4: conducive to this. He loves Stevenson, you know. He talked
- 17:48Speaker 4: a lot about how many guys he made miss in
- 17:51Speaker 4: the game. Van Peltz mentioned that as well. I think
- 17:53Speaker 4: he had fourteen for the running back room in the game.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Fourteen forced misstackles, not broken tackles, forced guys to miss,
- 18:03Speaker 4: So that's a pretty it sounds like a pretty high
- 18:05Speaker 4: number to me. But Embry was explaining how it's almost
- 18:09Speaker 4: like a spread offense for a wide receiver, like you
- 18:11Speaker 4: sort of get a chance to pick and choose your
- 18:14Speaker 4: spot and you know you're going to get a high volume,
- 18:17Speaker 4: and he thought that was really good for Stevenson. Tamara
- 18:20Speaker 4: asked Embury about Stevenson's Brissette's comment that Stevenson had gone
- 18:25Speaker 4: to him in the game and said, no more zone.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Let's just go at him. Let's get that field, let's
- 18:30Speaker 4: go with the gap scheme. And you know, Embry said, yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 4: you know, when you get a guy who who's going
- 18:35Speaker 4: like that and they're on the field, they're the ones
- 18:38Speaker 4: that are experienced, they're seeing it on the field. So yeah,
- 18:41Speaker 4: you take that a consideration. So I thought that was
- 18:44Speaker 4: interesting too, just as another example of maybe not being
- 18:47Speaker 4: with the herd with everybody. You know, you sort of
- 18:50Speaker 4: pick and choose where you go and sometimes you can
- 18:52Speaker 4: get a nugget or too.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 5: I asked you Ardy about it.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I was just like, is how different is this because
- 18:56Speaker 3: I was only really there like twenty nineteen when you know,
- 18:59Speaker 3: then the twenty twenty happened and it was kind of
- 19:01Speaker 3: recess because night and day it is. That's that's the
- 19:03Speaker 3: same thing he said. So, I mean, at the end
- 19:04Speaker 3: of the day, I think it's just it's great for
- 19:06Speaker 3: the fans. There's gonna be a lot more stuff to read,
- 19:09Speaker 3: and you know, you're not gonna get You're not gonna
- 19:11Speaker 3: what Evan wrote in posted just a little bit ago.
- 19:13Speaker 5: You're you're not.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Gonna get that anywhere else, you know. I mean, that's
- 19:15Speaker 3: and I think that's something that's really interesting in the fans.
- 19:18Speaker 3: What's he doing behind the scenes.
- 19:19Speaker 2: You know, I think it helps everybody. Did you listen
- 19:22Speaker 2: to a v P and what what was your interpretation
- 19:26Speaker 2: of the You know, there were plays I wish were
- 19:28Speaker 2: on my path.
- 19:29Speaker 3: It was interesting.
- 19:30Speaker 4: That was interesting.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I mean, honestly, I kind of chalk
- 19:33Speaker 3: it up a little to inexperience, and I mean, and
- 19:35Speaker 3: also a new offense, a new team, not really knowing
- 19:38Speaker 3: exactly what you're gonna need for the game plan. But
- 19:40Speaker 3: I think what stood out most to me is that
- 19:42Speaker 3: he continued, like I kind of feel a divergence. I
- 19:45Speaker 3: feel like Mayo was telling us we're gonna run the ball.
- 19:47Speaker 3: We're gonna run the ball, and I feel like a
- 19:48Speaker 3: VP still given the line of we're gonna morph week
- 19:51Speaker 3: to week and it be a game plan offense.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Said Okay, this week he has been saying, both of
- 19:57Speaker 4: them have been saying we're gonna run, run, run, run, run,
- 19:59Speaker 4: and and this week they both kind of said, I mean,
- 20:02Speaker 4: I think they probably realized, like, we can't say that.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I said, what's common sense? If they're going to load
- 20:07Speaker 2: the box, We're not gonna run into a brick wall.
- 20:10Speaker 3: I just wondered, they're gonna come out spread, you know,
- 20:12Speaker 3: like this week, Like I would assume Seattle is going
- 20:15Speaker 3: to say, we're not gonna let Ramandra Stevenson beat us.
- 20:17Speaker 3: So maybe they just come right out and they're like, Okay,
- 20:19Speaker 3: we're gonna just spread you out and and try to
- 20:21Speaker 3: pick you apart. I mean that might be extreme, but.
- 20:23Speaker 2: So I was kind of hoping that what AVP meant
- 20:26Speaker 2: was like a little shot at you know, if I
- 20:28Speaker 2: had Drake Mayon there, I would have had more plays downfield,
- 20:33Speaker 2: on the run or whatever. But you know, Gary writes
- 20:35Speaker 2: in and I think he's right. He said what a
- 20:37Speaker 2: VP meant was that there were flaws in his own
- 20:40Speaker 2: game plan, and he was self criticized.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so. I think so that you know,
- 20:44Speaker 3: just didn't quite have everything that he wanted. And I'm
- 20:46Speaker 3: sure that he knows like a lot more than he's
- 20:49Speaker 3: been able to install yet, and those he probably hasn't
- 20:51Speaker 3: gotten of those things and didn't have that you know,
- 20:53Speaker 3: left punch.
- 20:54Speaker 4: So we talked about it a little bit, Fred and
- 20:55Speaker 4: I and I hadn't really thought about Fred's angle. I
- 20:58Speaker 4: don't really think that was it. I just felt like
- 21:00Speaker 4: there was stuff that they don't have in yet. Yeah, Like,
- 21:04Speaker 4: if it's stuff that they had in and he's looking
- 21:08Speaker 4: on his play sheheet, it's not like he doesn't know it.
- 21:10Speaker 4: I don't think that. I don't think that's the reason
- 21:12Speaker 4: either what the email or said, Like, I don't think
- 21:15Speaker 4: he's being self critical. I think he's lamenting that we'd
- 21:18Speaker 4: I wish I had more at my disposal that they
- 21:21Speaker 4: don't have yet, not that he didn't like think of
- 21:24Speaker 4: a play.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:25Speaker 4: I think, you know, I think he knows all the
- 21:26Speaker 4: plays he's been in although system.
- 21:29Speaker 2: I'll bet you you know, if he is doing his
- 21:31Speaker 2: own self scouting. You know, it's his first time calling
- 21:34Speaker 2: plays in a game and I don't know twenty years.
- 21:37Speaker 2: So I'm sure that there was stuff like he wished
- 21:40Speaker 2: he had done that.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Right, But I don't think that you would say I
- 21:42Speaker 4: wish there was stuff on my play sheet. No, I
- 21:44Speaker 4: think he would say, yeah, you know, we had some
- 21:46Speaker 4: opportunities and I should have missed when I called that,
- 21:49Speaker 4: Yeah that I missed. Yeah, you know, but he said
- 21:52Speaker 4: I wish we had more on the playsheet, right. I
- 21:55Speaker 4: think they use that exact phrase, who.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Makes the playsheet him? Right?
- 21:58Speaker 4: Yeah, so he obviously knows all the plays, and if
- 22:02Speaker 4: it was if there's in other words, if I'm calling
- 22:04Speaker 4: the plays and I have a sheet with ten plays
- 22:07Speaker 4: on it, I know there's you know ten others. I'm like,
- 22:10Speaker 4: you know what would really work here? It's not on
- 22:12Speaker 4: the sheet, but I'm gonna call it anyway.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Would it be creazy any type of conversation? He said,
- 22:16Speaker 2: you know what, let's bring in a VP, and he
- 22:18Speaker 2: would just walk through the door and answer the question.
- 22:21Speaker 4: It's more fun to speculate.
- 22:23Speaker 3: We just need like like a like a Neon sign
- 22:25Speaker 3: right up with like an arrow pointing in like Patriots coach, Like,
- 22:27Speaker 3: you know, we just flashed with when we want as
- 22:29Speaker 3: they go to two minutes, two minutes coming in here, we.
- 22:31Speaker 2: We have an can you send down just for two minutes?
- 22:35Speaker 5: What is it this time? Guys?
- 22:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I think all of these things are in play
- 22:38Speaker 4: like it's it was kind of unclear. I thought it
- 22:41Speaker 4: was interesting though, and Fred Fred's may thing.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I love it.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I love it because I'm I'm on record now. I think,
- 22:48Speaker 2: what did I say by game six, he'll be in.
- 22:51Speaker 4: I don't know, you just changed all the time. It
- 22:53Speaker 4: was game one.
- 22:54Speaker 2: I was wrong with game one, but I was close.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I was. I had to think about it. But I'm
- 23:01Speaker 2: saying by game six he will be the story.
- 23:04Speaker 3: First there was a couple, then it was a few,
- 23:06Speaker 3: then it was a handful, and then it was a
- 23:08Speaker 3: half dozen.
- 23:08Speaker 4: Then there was several. The confusion, I think a handful,
- 23:12Speaker 4: a few, and several.
- 23:13Speaker 2: A handful could be up to five, several was three,
- 23:16Speaker 2: it was.
- 23:16Speaker 3: A dozen, then it was a Baker's dozen.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Five.
- 23:19Speaker 4: We got to bring that out in the in the pregame.
- 23:21Speaker 4: This week we have more clarification.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Fred curs.
- 23:24Speaker 4: We can go right up limiting five a handful to five.
- 23:29Speaker 2: All right, what else before we open it up because
- 23:31Speaker 2: we do have to hurry today we have picks.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well I should. I don't know if you
- 23:35Speaker 3: guys are aware, but unfortunately young Alex had a uh
- 23:39Speaker 3: the disaster, not disaster, but.
- 23:40Speaker 5: Bop the tire.
- 23:41Speaker 3: So she might be she might have to she might
- 23:43Speaker 3: be calling in and she doesn't have the run flats.
- 23:45Speaker 3: She might have to go to you know, bridgetwn. Maybe
- 23:46Speaker 3: you got to get those runs, Suan, Yeah, very very new.
- 23:50Speaker 2: You get one hundred dollars off this month from Sullivan Tire.
- 23:53Speaker 3: The sad part was we had in the in our
- 23:55Speaker 3: bullpen yesterday we had a long conversation about just how
- 23:58Speaker 3: frustrating car problems are, and they come out of nowhere
- 24:01Speaker 3: and then literally she's like, guess what happened? And then
- 24:04Speaker 3: a picture flat tires. So so you don't think she'll
- 24:08Speaker 3: be here. I think she's gonna maybe call in. I
- 24:10Speaker 3: don't know if she if she don't like the cold,
- 24:16Speaker 3: if you're listening in that coffee shop across from wherever
- 24:18Speaker 3: you are getting your tire fix.
- 24:20Speaker 2: I don't do drugs.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Yeah, so she's too bad to start.
- 24:28Speaker 2: So little little preview, Paul, you don't want to have
- 24:30Speaker 2: to get. But if you were atlex, would you want
- 24:32Speaker 2: to be here today?
- 24:34Speaker 4: I think it was a reasonably good start for everybody.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Oh oh, felt pretty good about it. I'm not bad
- 24:40Speaker 2: about my pick, so because I forget who I picked,
- 24:43Speaker 2: the reason why.
- 24:44Speaker 4: I would say there was good moments for everybody, and
- 24:47Speaker 4: there were some not so good moments for everybody. And
- 24:49Speaker 4: I would say the overall picks, some were better than others,
- 24:56Speaker 4: but I would say with the spread some.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Others, we're better than correct.
- 25:03Speaker 4: All right, if everybody had some I do you think
- 25:06Speaker 4: I picked the one, and that's probably we all picked
- 25:09Speaker 4: the Giants. That might be we should all be suspended
- 25:11Speaker 4: from take a lap because it's one thing to like. Like,
- 25:14Speaker 4: you know, I picked Indy to pull an upset. I
- 25:18Speaker 4: was the only one. You know, we lose twenty nine
- 25:20Speaker 4: to twenty seven. Like I took a shot. I'm wrong,
- 25:23Speaker 4: they covered, but I took a shot. They lost the Giants.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Like I mean, I I honestly I didn't see it
- 25:33Speaker 2: coming where the Giants were going to be competing for
- 25:35Speaker 2: the worst team in the league. But I should have
- 25:37Speaker 2: see I did. Yeah, I should I should have because.
- 25:40Speaker 4: Everybody and their brother had three teams in that mix
- 25:44Speaker 4: and one of them one.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I think I feel a little validated because that would
- 25:51Speaker 3: be the Patriots watching hard knots. I just felt like this,
- 25:53Speaker 3: these guys, I don't know, these guys know what they're doing.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Like I like Dable, but Joe Shane, I don't. I
- 25:58Speaker 3: don't know, man, I did a lot of heat, get a.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Lot of heat. But Dabel's body language in those hard
- 26:04Speaker 2: knocks told me he wanted it to be known that
- 26:08Speaker 2: I'm not on board with what's going on here, you know,
- 26:11Speaker 2: And I think the finger pointing if it hasn't already started,
- 26:14Speaker 2: it's going to start there.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Well, it's so hard when you're on Hard Knocks, like
- 26:19Speaker 3: with all your off season moves and all your plans,
- 26:21Speaker 3: and now there's like a record that's available to everybody
- 26:24Speaker 3: about how you discuss these moves. I mean, you know,
- 26:26Speaker 3: it's like, I'm not just right. You get to approve
- 26:28Speaker 3: all this, yeah, but but you have no way of knowing, right, Like,
- 26:30Speaker 3: at the point you're approving it, you don't realize that
- 26:32Speaker 3: it's going to be a disc someone.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Who didn't watch any of Hard Knocks. You're telling me
- 26:37Speaker 4: that the impression was that Shane was doing things that
- 26:40Speaker 4: Dabel didn't like.
- 26:42Speaker 3: I didn't really get that impression as much. I definitely
- 26:45Speaker 3: would say this for a long time John Marra didn't like.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Was kind of like, well, I know John Mayra is
- 26:53Speaker 4: on record is saying he didn't agree with the decision
- 26:56Speaker 4: to get move on from Yeah. That was That's different
- 26:59Speaker 4: than Table doesn't doesn't believe in Shane.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Now Table will just.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Like, but he learned that from Bill, because that's exactly
- 27:08Speaker 4: how Bill used to do with me and Brian Moore.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Just slouched down arm over the head.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Yeah, table lost a lot of weight too, did he
- 27:16Speaker 2: I think so? I think he did.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Yeah, he does tend to fluctuate, Brian, Yeah, all right.
- 27:21Speaker 2: In season eight five five PATS five hundred is the
- 27:25Speaker 2: TPX hotline web radio at pagries dot com is the
- 27:29Speaker 2: email address. Might as well just open it up. We'll
- 27:32Speaker 2: see what people have to say, what topics of conversation
- 27:36Speaker 2: they want to get into. We'll start with Alex in
- 27:39Speaker 2: San Diego. What's up, Alex?
- 27:41Speaker 8: Hey, guys, what's going on?
- 27:43Speaker 5: Agree with you?
- 27:44Speaker 8: I do think the I do think the Giants are
- 27:46Speaker 8: an absolutely mess right now. It was really interesting watching
- 27:49Speaker 8: Hard Knocks. But anyway, superstoked on win Sunday. These are
- 27:53Speaker 8: definitely like the type of games we did not win
- 27:55Speaker 8: over the last three years. But I know Evan's not
- 27:58Speaker 8: here yet. I know, I don't know if you guys
- 28:00Speaker 8: know what the dealers tackle. Maybe you guys that practice
- 28:02Speaker 8: supports over the last couple of days. But I know,
- 28:04Speaker 8: Paul you touched on it earlier. But this position needs
- 28:07Speaker 8: to be addressed, and we can't. Can't have guys mixed
- 28:10Speaker 8: up in in and out like every two plays.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounds like low was at the starting left
- 28:16Speaker 3: tackle spot in practice yesterday, so.
- 28:18Speaker 4: They played the balance of the game.
- 28:19Speaker 2: It wasn't it out, yeah, right started, that came out.
- 28:25Speaker 4: And Aian Low played the rest of it.
- 28:27Speaker 2: But the bigger point is tackle is still an issue still.
- 28:31Speaker 2: You can't have six linemen on every play. That's limiting.
- 28:35Speaker 2: That takes away from your playbook for sure, and that's
- 28:38Speaker 2: what they had to do in a lot of plays eighteen.
- 28:41Speaker 4: It's a lot of snaps, play with an extra tight
- 28:43Speaker 4: end that's not necessarily going to be a receiver.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Right yeah. Yeah, So thanks guys, Okay, thanks Alex.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I agree with Alex. Yeah, something that we can you know,
- 28:54Speaker 4: you know me, I'm always concerned.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Ye Jeff is the main what's up? Jeff?
- 28:59Speaker 6: Hey, how are you doing?
- 29:00Speaker 5: Yes?
- 29:01Speaker 6: So I got two things. One, I think one of
- 29:05Speaker 6: the biggest things that I've noticed in the first game,
- 29:08Speaker 6: and I noticed it right away compared to last year,
- 29:11Speaker 6: is when any of our players hits the ground, there's
- 29:15Speaker 6: another player running over to help them up. And last
- 29:18Speaker 6: year it just kind of seemed like people were dejected.
- 29:21Speaker 6: And I think that's a really good sign of team
- 29:24Speaker 6: chemistry and whether that's just Mayo or how the players
- 29:27Speaker 6: feel I was really excited about that just kind of
- 29:32Speaker 6: made me feel good as a Pats fan. And I
- 29:36Speaker 6: think this game on Sunday is going to be really
- 29:38Speaker 6: interesting because I think that our defense matches up really
- 29:44Speaker 6: well the Seattle's offense. They have good receivers. I think
- 29:47Speaker 6: our corners matchup well. Their line isn't great, but Kenneth
- 29:52Speaker 6: Walker is obviously really good, and I think that their
- 29:56Speaker 6: defense matches up really well against our offense. Not that
- 29:59Speaker 6: ours particularly stellar. I know that you guys were talking
- 30:03Speaker 6: about how our linebackers were out, but they have a
- 30:05Speaker 6: really good secondary against our receivers that are not, you know,
- 30:09Speaker 6: known for dominating, and they have a really good defensive line. Yeah,
- 30:19Speaker 6: that's all I got, Thanks guys.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Thanks Jeff. I want to talk about the first thing
- 30:23Speaker 2: he said about guys helping out in the body language
- 30:26Speaker 2: and the enthusiastic I agree that it looked good, but
- 30:29Speaker 2: I disagree that last year guys weren't helping each other up.
- 30:34Speaker 2: You know, I think they were. And Paul, you were
- 30:36Speaker 2: on your show yesterday talking with your two friends about
- 30:41Speaker 2: how you were this year. You're making fun of in
- 30:44Speaker 2: that regard, like players didn't give up last year.
- 30:47Speaker 3: No, especially not.
- 30:48Speaker 2: They played hard last year too. You don't have a
- 30:51Speaker 2: defense like they had last year. And I get, you know,
- 30:54Speaker 2: even if you're playing against backup quarterbacks, you know, giving
- 30:57Speaker 2: up ten points, seven points in a game without playing hard.
- 31:00Speaker 2: This is the NFL. They were playing hard last year too,
- 31:03Speaker 2: you know.
- 31:04Speaker 4: So well, I started saying, like all I heard last
- 31:07Speaker 4: year the whole year was how close all the games were.
- 31:09Speaker 4: And I remember I would be like, yeah, because all
- 31:11Speaker 4: the games in the NFL are close, right, like most
- 31:13Speaker 4: of it, Like these teams are not. What happened to
- 31:16Speaker 4: Carolina in Week one doesn't generally happen in the NFL.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Even the bad teams stick their nose in and hang
- 31:24Speaker 4: around in a game. So I'm talking about all the
- 31:27Speaker 4: games were close last and they're like they were like
- 31:29Speaker 4: and Tony the I was like, that weren't. Well, yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 4: I go like Norman Dallas, I go, they weren't playing hard.
- 31:34Speaker 4: They were out of the they were out of it,
- 31:36Speaker 4: and they're losing ten seven, ten six six nothing.
- 31:39Speaker 5: He goes, well, that's just a couple. I go, well, how.
- 31:41Speaker 4: About like Week one, twenty five, twenty Week two twenty
- 31:44Speaker 4: four to seventeen. I was like I can go down
- 31:46Speaker 4: the whole schedule if you want me to.
- 31:48Speaker 2: I go.
- 31:48Speaker 4: They got blown out by Dallas, and they got blown
- 31:50Speaker 4: out by New Orleans, right, virtually all the other games
- 31:53Speaker 4: were pretty close. Now, most of those games I didn't
- 31:57Speaker 4: really think the Patriots had much of a chance to win, right,
- 32:00Speaker 4: Like those ten six tenths, they had a chance to
- 32:02Speaker 4: win those. I didn't really think they had a chance
- 32:04Speaker 4: to win the twenty four to seventeen game to Miami
- 32:06Speaker 4: as an example. You know, I thought Miami really controlled
- 32:10Speaker 4: that game. But to say that they didn't play hard, well,
- 32:14Speaker 4: that they didn't care, they weren't trying like this, this
- 32:18Speaker 4: this notion of like these nebulous things that you can't identify.
- 32:21Speaker 4: They just look faster. I can't explain, Okay, I mean
- 32:24Speaker 4: I can't tell you how you thought they looked. Yeah,
- 32:28Speaker 4: but I can tell you that that game plan defensively
- 32:30Speaker 4: was very similar to one I've seen a million times.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Everything, Billich, Everything looks better when you win, correct, you know,
- 32:36Speaker 2: everything looks better now.
- 32:37Speaker 4: But also it also helps when you immediately, in my opinion,
- 32:40Speaker 4: you have one way to win. There's there's one blueprint
- 32:43Speaker 4: to win, and they followed it to a t they
- 32:46Speaker 4: got the lead, they played with the lead the whole day.
- 32:48Speaker 4: That's the way they want to play.
- 32:49Speaker 2: The only thing I would might agree with is last
- 32:51Speaker 2: year when Mack was on the ground, maybe they didn't
- 32:53Speaker 2: rush over as quickly to help them.
- 32:55Speaker 3: And Trent Brown doesn't exactly its zood like enthusiasm.
- 33:00Speaker 4: So that was a that was a good thing. I'm
- 33:02Speaker 4: just glad now that when we watch Keyon White completely
- 33:05Speaker 4: abused Trent Brown, we can now say that Trent Brown
- 33:07Speaker 4: is not that good because I just kept getting fought
- 33:10Speaker 4: every time I told you that he doesn't try, he
- 33:12Speaker 4: doesn't care.
- 33:13Speaker 3: You were right, Paul, I. I mean I I think
- 33:15Speaker 3: I was enamored with his twenty eighteen season and his
- 33:17Speaker 3: eyes and.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Had a couple of good games when Dante finally lit
- 33:20Speaker 4: a fire down the stretch when they just started running
- 33:23Speaker 4: football with Sony. Yeah, I mean, he has ability, but
- 33:26Speaker 4: there's a reason he was a late round draft pick and.
- 33:28Speaker 3: He's now he's just a placeholder for Amarius Mims.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Oh yeah, he's not even the starter anymore.
- 33:33Speaker 3: It's funny though. You said it's something, and I agree
- 33:35Speaker 3: with it. It's just an interesting kind of like thought
- 33:37Speaker 3: experiment that a game can be close, but you don't
- 33:40Speaker 3: have a chance to win.
- 33:41Speaker 4: You can't win it, you know, like and when I
- 33:46Speaker 4: say like you can't win, oh the other way, Fred, Right, yeah,
- 33:49Speaker 4: the Patriots games, but you Fred and I were smoking
- 33:53Speaker 4: cigars mid fourth quarter. No, when the game was over.
- 33:55Speaker 2: They get up ten three and the game was over.
- 33:57Speaker 6: The game.
- 33:59Speaker 3: That was the with the nod and there.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, but like.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Like the Philadelphia game last year, well, obviously the Patriots
- 34:08Speaker 4: had the ball at the end of the game and
- 34:09Speaker 4: they were moving it a little well they really weren't
- 34:11Speaker 4: moving it, but they had the ball with the chance
- 34:13Speaker 4: to score, so they could have won the game. But
- 34:17Speaker 4: did you have to anybody really think they were going
- 34:19Speaker 4: to win?
- 34:20Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 34:20Speaker 4: You know, like in the the Miami game the next
- 34:23Speaker 4: week was even more of an example of that. You remember,
- 34:26Speaker 4: like they convert a fourth down when they stopped I
- 34:30Speaker 4: think it was was a gaziki that lateraled the ball
- 34:33Speaker 4: to fullah right right, and they like blade of grass
- 34:38Speaker 4: and then they realized it was a bad spot and
- 34:40Speaker 4: they overturned it. Like anybody really think if they got
- 34:43Speaker 4: that first down they were going to go and score.
- 34:45Speaker 4: Like That's how we felt it was a close game.
- 34:47Speaker 3: About the last Bengals game too, where it was like
- 34:49Speaker 3: the Bengals just rolled them in the first half, then
- 34:51Speaker 3: took their foot off the gas, made a couple of mistakes,
- 34:54Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, it's close, but we didn't feel.
- 34:56Speaker 4: I'm going to say this though, on Sunday Week one,
- 34:59Speaker 4: I think the was it was true, it was close,
- 35:02Speaker 4: but I never thought the Patriots were going to lose.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good pepper. Well, and I'll tell you
- 35:07Speaker 2: the same thing.
- 35:08Speaker 4: I wish our host could say the same thing.
- 35:10Speaker 2: The last Super Bowl the Patriots won against the rom
- 35:12Speaker 2: never thought they were going to win that game, even
- 35:14Speaker 2: though it was a close game.
- 35:15Speaker 4: Yeah that was yeah, that was now. That was more
- 35:18Speaker 4: that one felt. We have Brady, they have golf, you know, advantage.
- 35:21Speaker 2: But yeah, right, I but I also right, I thought
- 35:24Speaker 2: our defense had Gof's number. He wasn't gonna be able
- 35:27Speaker 2: to do it.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, yeah, but I thought, and I'm you, Fred,
- 35:32Speaker 4: I mean, Mike, you were with me. I never thought
- 35:36Speaker 4: the Patriots were losing that game. Once Cardona caused the fumble,
- 35:40Speaker 4: I gave that's by the way, when I gave the nod,
- 35:44Speaker 4: I said, that's the turn. I haven't given a nod
- 35:48Speaker 4: in favor of the Patriots in a while, but when
- 35:50Speaker 4: they felt naughty fumble, I said, that's game.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Ford and Savannah Georgia. I completely disagree with Paul's take
- 35:58Speaker 2: from yesterday, which doesn't happen too often. I think Joe
- 36:02Speaker 2: Burrow wasn't at his very best, but he played well
- 36:05Speaker 2: enough to win the game. He threw a touchdown that
- 36:07Speaker 2: was punched out by Kyle Dugger on the one yard line,
- 36:11Speaker 2: and another touchdown that needed replay to show that it
- 36:14Speaker 2: was barely fumbled. His eighteen is one B receiver was out.
- 36:19Speaker 2: His one A receiver joined the team two days before
- 36:22Speaker 2: the game. More of the credit should go to the
- 36:24Speaker 2: Patriots secondary man handling the Bengals third and fourth passing options.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Come at me, Bro, He says.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Oh, I agree with all that, But Mahomes would have
- 36:35Speaker 4: won the game Borrow didn't. That's I mean, he's supposed
- 36:41Speaker 4: to be one of those. Yeah, he's supposed to be
- 36:42Speaker 4: an elite quarterback.
- 36:43Speaker 2: That's right, he's supposed to.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Overno Malmes would have won the game with his BC
- 36:47Speaker 4: and D receivers. Joe Burrow was content to check it
- 36:50Speaker 4: down like to me, it all comes down to the
- 36:52Speaker 4: very last possession. That was a non competitive possession, and yes,
- 36:57Speaker 4: he's right, he should have had a touchdown. Don't don't
- 37:00Speaker 4: try to play tricky games. Those plays happened consecutively. You
- 37:04Speaker 4: only get one touchdown, not too you know, like it's
- 37:06Speaker 4: easy to say, like when you're the Bengals. You know,
- 37:09Speaker 4: we dropped a touchdown. You know, we had a touchdown
- 37:12Speaker 4: overturned by replay, and then we had a fund It
- 37:15Speaker 4: would only been one touchdown, right, you only drove down
- 37:18Speaker 4: there once.
- 37:19Speaker 3: That was That was another thing. Fred I listened to
- 37:21Speaker 3: episode two of Coach with Bill Belichick, Matt Patricia and
- 37:24Speaker 3: this week's host was Michael Barty. I was, I was,
- 37:27Speaker 3: I was playing the hits for the club.
- 37:30Speaker 4: So let me just interrupt for a real quick second.
- 37:33Speaker 4: So Lombardi eviscerated the Falcons. Why do you think that.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Was because he made him look bad?
- 37:39Speaker 4: Because who didn't get hired by the Falcons?
- 37:42Speaker 6: Right?
- 37:43Speaker 3: Another with us? So there were there, like there wasn't
- 37:45Speaker 3: a lot of Patriots talking. There were some subtle comments though,
- 37:48Speaker 3: one of which was, I mean, you know, Cincinnati, they
- 37:51Speaker 3: don't fumble the ball, they probably win the game. You know,
- 37:53Speaker 3: it was like that. It was some about Stevenson, you know,
- 37:56Speaker 3: finally running north south and holding onto the ball. It
- 37:59Speaker 3: was I mean, it's the same defense from last year.
- 38:01Speaker 3: There were just those handful of comments from Bill little like.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Little prediction reminders, prediction.
- 38:07Speaker 4: Yeah, this is going to be like two thousand and
- 38:09Speaker 4: one Patriots. They're going to have this magical run and
- 38:11Speaker 4: win another Super Bowl. Yeah, Belichick's boat will be called
- 38:14Speaker 4: nine rings.
- 38:16Speaker 2: There you go. Good one.
- 38:17Speaker 3: As much as I as much as make fun of it, though,
- 38:19Speaker 3: I will say I did. I do enjoy it because
- 38:21Speaker 3: it's it's more just a free, full conversation about football
- 38:24Speaker 3: and week one and you know, how you get the
- 38:26Speaker 3: team ready for Week one, and you know Bill said,
- 38:28Speaker 3: how you know, just gratifying it is to win that
- 38:31Speaker 3: Week one game after all the offseason, all the work
- 38:33Speaker 3: you put in in the summer and to get that immediate,
- 38:35Speaker 3: you know, kind of return on the investment. But tell Paul,
- 38:38Speaker 3: the interesting thing to me is he said, I would
- 38:40Speaker 3: almost prefer a week win Week two because you are
- 38:43Speaker 3: able to see a game adjust because the other team's adjusting.
- 38:49Speaker 3: I really like Week three better, to be honest, Is.
- 38:52Speaker 2: There anything positive I mean that they said.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Not about not really about the Patriots. They kind of
- 38:56Speaker 3: glossed over it.
- 38:57Speaker 4: There was style, I agree with you, just kind of
- 38:59Speaker 4: the free flow like we're going to talk about week one.
- 39:02Speaker 3: It's more general coach, which I which I kind of
- 39:05Speaker 3: like they'd been watching us. Yeah, it was. I mean,
- 39:09Speaker 3: I like, I think Lombard's better than Patricia. Patricia just
- 39:11Speaker 3: you know, seems like he's fine in his feet with it.
- 39:13Speaker 3: But but I as much as I joke about it, it
- 39:15Speaker 3: was they were very praise a lot of praise for
- 39:17Speaker 3: Dallas and their and their personnel and team building and
- 39:20Speaker 3: that kind of stuff.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 39:30Speaker 3: I mean, it's just.
- 39:32Speaker 4: So the fact it is just to close the window
- 39:36Speaker 4: on that email. I I agree, and I think I
- 39:38Speaker 4: said it many times yesterday, and I know I said
- 39:40Speaker 4: it on my show when I when I went to Sunshine.
- 39:44Speaker 4: The Patriots defense played unbelievable in that game. So let's
- 39:48Speaker 4: not try to make this out to be all Paul's
- 39:51Speaker 4: blaming it on the Bengals not playing. No, he's not.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Patriots out played Cincinnati for sixty full minutes. And I've
- 39:59Speaker 4: said that the postgame show for two hours, and I
- 40:02Speaker 4: said it on Tuesday. I said it on Wednesday, and
- 40:04Speaker 4: it's still my opinion today.
- 40:06Speaker 2: My my glow from Sunday is still I still have it. Yeah,
- 40:12Speaker 2: me too, I still have it, me too.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Well, it's you know, the days winning days before the
- 40:15Speaker 3: next contest. But I do have to give Paul, like
- 40:17Speaker 3: I already told him personally. But I just thoroughly enjoyed
- 40:20Speaker 3: him on Felger and Mass yesterday because you know, they
- 40:22Speaker 3: were doing their whole you know thing about well if
- 40:24Speaker 3: you have this record with May and you know, and
- 40:27Speaker 3: so finally Paul, Paul's just like laying doing what Paul does,
- 40:30Speaker 3: like just you know, going right back at him like
- 40:32Speaker 3: you know, which not a lot of people can do.
- 40:34Speaker 3: And finally Tony Masters is like, it's just not fun anymore.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Well, no, but Paul had to drop. I go. I
- 40:40Speaker 2: brought logic to well. The mic drop for Paul was
- 40:44Speaker 2: if they're three and fourteen? Not a lot went.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Well, right, right? How do you have it right?
- 40:48Speaker 2: How right?
- 40:49Speaker 4: He's I don't understand how anybody would be excited about
- 40:52Speaker 4: three and fourteen?
- 40:53Speaker 2: Right?
- 40:53Speaker 4: If Drake May plays he clearly didn't play it.
- 40:56Speaker 2: It's hard to say, Oh, they were three and fourteen,
- 40:58Speaker 2: but Drake May had this great right, And.
- 41:01Speaker 4: I don't really remember all the specifics, but I can't
- 41:04Speaker 4: imagine everybody in Indianapolis was like, this is awesome. When
- 41:08Speaker 4: Peyton Manning went three and thirteen and threw twenty eight picks.
- 41:11Speaker 3: Right, doubt creeps in you.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Now, maybe someone looked at it and said, yeah, he's
- 41:15Speaker 4: making a lot of mistakes, but we got something. Maybe
- 41:17Speaker 4: I don't know. Like I said, I didn't watch them.
- 41:19Speaker 4: They might I didn't watch the nineteen ninety eight season
- 41:22Speaker 4: that intently to know, right, But I can't imagine you
- 41:25Speaker 4: feel great right winning three games, even if your quarterback
- 41:29Speaker 4: played right.
- 41:30Speaker 3: You were busy covering high school sports. Probably at that
- 41:32Speaker 3: time I would guess.
- 41:34Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I was still with the hell doing Agate
- 41:38Speaker 4: among other things, and when I was done, I went home.
- 41:42Speaker 2: All right, back to the TPS hotline. Todd's in North Carolina.
- 41:46Speaker 9: What's up, Todd, gentlemen.
- 41:49Speaker 10: I like you behind those deaths better than the reciners.
- 41:51Speaker 10: You look really good.
- 41:53Speaker 2: Preach Todd seems to be the consensus. I like the
- 41:56Speaker 2: comfortable chairs, though.
- 41:58Speaker 5: I like though they were switching it up a little bit.
- 42:00Speaker 4: I think there's a room for both.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Well, this is to help Matt. He can he can
- 42:04Speaker 2: keep this desk up throughout the weekend because on Monday
- 42:08Speaker 2: when EEI comes in, they use the desk.
- 42:11Speaker 5: Plus we use the desk for the post.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Twenty two is gonna who's anyone after us?
- 42:16Speaker 10: Ye?
- 42:16Speaker 2: Catch twenty twos right coming in and they use the desk.
- 42:19Speaker 2: So what makes it easier for Matt?
- 42:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Yeah, he's got to put like that back thing on
- 42:23Speaker 3: with like support and he's lifting stuff like yeah.
- 42:26Speaker 10: So my pod guy is about what a VP.
- 42:31Speaker 5: Sorry Todd, No, No, You're good.
- 42:34Speaker 10: Like I've enjoying you guys have a quiet optimism that
- 42:36Speaker 10: I haven't seen for a while. Like you guys have
- 42:38Speaker 10: you a bit of a Juana v back And I
- 42:40Speaker 10: appreciate it from all three of you. It's it's great
- 42:42Speaker 10: to see. My thought about what a VP was saying
- 42:46Speaker 10: with respect to not being able to do everything. I
- 42:49Speaker 10: think it's because he felt that he had to have
- 42:51Speaker 10: the sixth linemen in there a lot of times and
- 42:53Speaker 10: they just couldn't.
- 42:54Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 42:55Speaker 10: The things that wanted to do is that that was
- 42:58Speaker 10: what kind of what I took that to mean that
- 43:00Speaker 10: you know, we were kind of limited because we were
- 43:02Speaker 10: just trying to figure out how we're going to get
- 43:03Speaker 10: our blocking and do these other things, and we just
- 43:05Speaker 10: couldn't open up the whole playbook because of the ability
- 43:08Speaker 10: of the Bengals to get after us and get the
- 43:10Speaker 10: pressure through with only four.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Know, we talked about that early. How having that extra
- 43:16Speaker 2: linement in limits you, It has to limit you.
- 43:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:18Speaker 4: I think that's a good point. Yeah, I think you
- 43:20Speaker 4: know you brought that up, Fred, like when it's a
- 43:23Speaker 4: third one to you can go three tight ends and
- 43:27Speaker 4: not be limited, but when the third tight end is
- 43:29Speaker 4: a tackle, it limits you.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Yeah. That was one question I was going to ask
- 43:33Speaker 3: bick now if I didn't quite get to it, but
- 43:34Speaker 3: I was like Kaid Waller's cats at all, we're gonna
- 43:37Speaker 3: slip them out into the flatters, Like.
- 43:38Speaker 4: That'd be something you'd have to be conscious of, like
- 43:41Speaker 4: around the goal line, Like you're not going to throw
- 43:43Speaker 4: it to him at the fifty yard line Like that
- 43:46Speaker 4: sold him, Like Rabel was was a pretty good athlete,
- 43:49Speaker 4: but and they didn't throw it to him unless they
- 43:51Speaker 4: were in the red.
- 43:51Speaker 3: So yes, seven catches for seven touchdowns. Ten Sorry, how
- 43:55Speaker 3: did I miss that up?
- 43:55Speaker 2: Sorry?
- 43:56Speaker 5: Mike?
- 43:56Speaker 3: Yeah, don't come out me.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Bill's in Oklahoma. What's up? Bill?
- 44:01Speaker 11: I really like the news set. I haven't had a
- 44:03Speaker 11: chance calling in a while, and I just want to
- 44:06Speaker 11: get whoever designed that and put it together. Props on
- 44:08Speaker 11: that one, great job.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Not me. I'll give props to Provost Studios.
- 44:14Speaker 11: Well, there you go.
- 44:15Speaker 2: And Matt, you're on the You're on air, Matt.
- 44:17Speaker 4: You just found out how the sausage just made. That's
- 44:19Speaker 4: why how Fred gets his lunch every day.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yep, well.
- 44:25Speaker 5: You hear it.
- 44:26Speaker 2: It was just going to you guys, got the air
- 44:29Speaker 2: well went today? All right?
- 44:31Speaker 3: Sorry, Bill, go have bell.
- 44:32Speaker 2: I'm sorry, You're.
- 44:33Speaker 9: Fine, You're fine.
- 44:34Speaker 11: I want to check and kind of switch gears and
- 44:37Speaker 11: see if you all and Apolo we talked about it
- 44:39Speaker 11: maybe yesterday. The Van Natta story on ESPN about Craft
- 44:44Speaker 11: being shut out of the Hall of Fame.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Yep.
- 44:47Speaker 11: Have you had a chance to talk about that or
- 44:49Speaker 11: read it?
- 44:50Speaker 2: I have read it.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Yeah, we all, we all read it. It's unfortunate because
- 44:54Speaker 4: I think we all agree. I mean, this is gonna
- 44:57Speaker 4: be a controversial opinion. We all agree that Robert should
- 45:00Speaker 4: be in the Hall of Fame. But I mean it's
- 45:02Speaker 4: unfortunate when it seems like they're like personal things that
- 45:06Speaker 4: are getting in the way. I don't think that that
- 45:08Speaker 4: should come into play when you're voting for something like that.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, none of these first of all, owners
- 45:12Speaker 2: shouldn't be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
- 45:14Speaker 3: That's Tony mass thing.
- 45:15Speaker 2: I like, I just don't think they should. But that's
- 45:17Speaker 2: that was Frank Kirsch. But no, but the Cats out
- 45:20Speaker 2: of the bag now. So they are, And if they are,
- 45:22Speaker 2: there's no other owner that deserves to be in it
- 45:24Speaker 2: more than Robert Kraft that that's no doubt. Don't get
- 45:28Speaker 2: me started with the whole spygate stuff, you know, Like just.
- 45:31Speaker 4: I'm talking about the personal stuff. R like that to
- 45:33Speaker 4: me is ridiculous. That shouldn't even be in consideration, right,
- 45:36Speaker 4: Like you're rubbing people the wrong way because your desire
- 45:39Speaker 4: to be in the like, that shouldn't be part.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Of it, right.
- 45:41Speaker 3: I just I just think it's ridiculous. I just think
- 45:43Speaker 3: the NFL is so petty. There's so much pettiness in
- 45:46Speaker 3: the NFL between all of these franchises, and like they're
- 45:49Speaker 3: praising Jerry Jones for like making the NFL what it was, Well,
- 45:52Speaker 3: guess what Robert Kraft took this team? What did he
- 45:55Speaker 3: buy it for? What was the amount twenty something million dollars.
- 45:57Speaker 2: One hundred and seventy million.
- 45:59Speaker 3: I mean, Craft and the Patriots have defined this century
- 46:02Speaker 3: of the NFL. So to sit there and like give
- 46:04Speaker 3: Jerry Jones all this praise for you know, what he
- 46:06Speaker 3: did back in the eighties and or nineties, even like
- 46:09Speaker 3: it's ridiculous, And I also, like, I just take personal
- 46:11Speaker 3: issue with it because having gone here as a kid,
- 46:14Speaker 3: and it was a dump, and it was a terrible stadium,
- 46:18Speaker 3: a terrible experience. And now what he has brought to
- 46:21Speaker 3: this whole area, with this whole Trader Joe's and all that,
- 46:24Speaker 3: Like I mean, I mean, this place is all transformed fromhim.
- 46:26Speaker 3: He transformed the NFL. Might have wonderful salads and breadsticks
- 46:33Speaker 3: all because of Robert Craft, and I thank him. But seriously, though, like,
- 46:36Speaker 3: is anyone going to say that the Patriots haven't defined
- 46:38Speaker 3: the last two decades of this league and and and
- 46:41Speaker 3: made it the global brandan that it is?
- 46:43Speaker 2: Did Robert Craft make pro football better? That should be
- 46:47Speaker 2: for owners, that should be the criteria, And the answer
- 46:51Speaker 2: has to be yes. When you think about it.
- 46:53Speaker 4: Go ahead, No, I was I did. It's unequivocally yes.
- 46:56Speaker 4: I don't think there's an argument on the other side
- 46:58Speaker 4: against Robert Craft. I would just say that Jerry Jones
- 47:01Speaker 4: was instrumental.
- 47:02Speaker 2: No, No, and Jones should be in.
- 47:05Speaker 4: Like again, Joan should be into like this notion that
- 47:07Speaker 4: Jones doesn't belong because he hasn't won anything in thirty years.
- 47:10Speaker 2: Jones should be in. But that means that Craft should
- 47:15Speaker 2: be in double you know what I mean?
- 47:17Speaker 4: Like right now, there's nobody that should even be in
- 47:20Speaker 4: consideration other than Robert Craft. Right, I'm just saying, don't
- 47:23Speaker 4: discredit what Jones did as an owner when he came
- 47:26Speaker 4: in in eighty nine and the league was not near Jones.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Jones opened up new sources of revenue for the owners.
- 47:32Speaker 2: He taught them the way to get the most out
- 47:35Speaker 2: of their marketing deals. It started with PEPSI back in
- 47:38Speaker 2: the day where instead of you know, having Coke, was
- 47:42Speaker 2: you know, the league partner. So teams like, whoa, we
- 47:44Speaker 2: can't have another soda And Jerry says, no, I own
- 47:47Speaker 2: my stadium. It's not going to be a deal with
- 47:50Speaker 2: the team. It's going to be a deal with our stadium,
- 47:53Speaker 2: and that opened up the way, and the Patriots were
- 47:55Speaker 2: right on his coattails doing the.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Same thing Robert Craft has done with you know, as
- 48:00Speaker 4: your point, Mike to put the Patriots. It's not just
- 48:03Speaker 4: about winning. I mean, obviously a winning is a huge
- 48:05Speaker 4: part of it, but it's so much more than that.
- 48:07Speaker 4: You're involved in the you know, in the lockout in
- 48:10Speaker 4: twenty eleven, you're involved with the TV contracts that are
- 48:13Speaker 4: putting finding more and more revenue streams.
- 48:16Speaker 3: For the league.
- 48:16Speaker 5: You're growing the league.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what guys like Jerry Jones and Robert Craft have.
- 48:20Speaker 2: They grew the league and they made it better for fans.
- 48:23Speaker 2: They also made it better for the players. These sources
- 48:26Speaker 2: of revenue makes it better for the players because it's
- 48:28Speaker 2: a collective bargain and they get fifty one percent of
- 48:32Speaker 2: the profits. So the more money you bring in, the
- 48:34Speaker 2: more the players get in. So the players have them
- 48:36Speaker 2: to think too.
- 48:37Speaker 6: You know.
- 48:38Speaker 2: The other thing, back to the stadium, it's not so
- 48:39Speaker 2: much that he built it and all that and Patriot Place.
- 48:43Speaker 2: That doesn't make pro football better. But what it does
- 48:45Speaker 2: make it better is he financed this without taxpayer money.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Yeah right, you know, And that made it better for fans.
- 48:53Speaker 2: He was able to finance this without PSLs and all
- 48:56Speaker 2: the all the owners got criticized for PSLs because it's
- 48:59Speaker 2: kind of it's scamish a little bit, you know, sure,
- 49:02Speaker 2: but the crafts and Jonathan was a big part of this,
- 49:06Speaker 2: figured out a way to finance it through the contracts
- 49:10Speaker 2: with the club seats and you know that's you know,
- 49:14Speaker 2: there's no smoking mirrors there like there is with PSLs,
- 49:18Speaker 2: and so that made it better for season ticket members
- 49:21Speaker 2: to buy their tickets. And so there's a lot of things.
- 49:24Speaker 2: But you know, Paul mentioned all the broadcasts he should
- 49:27Speaker 2: be in. If there's any owner that should be in,
- 49:29Speaker 2: he should be in. And you know what all that article,
- 49:32Speaker 2: you know, the article agreed with that. By the way,
- 49:35Speaker 2: the article was.
- 49:36Speaker 5: Very fair in terms of that.
- 49:38Speaker 4: It just kind of illustrated the pettiness of these guys
- 49:41Speaker 4: that vote.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think you know it mentioned that, you know,
- 49:44Speaker 2: maybe the Patriots were a little bit too aggressive lobbying,
- 49:47Speaker 2: and okay, fine, but like when you're watching all these
- 49:51Speaker 2: people get in, you start to get like urgent, you know, like.
- 49:55Speaker 4: Bowline, no disrespect, like rest in peace? What has he
- 50:00Speaker 4: done that Robert didn't do.
- 50:02Speaker 2: And you know, knock on wood. You know, Robert Craft's
- 50:05Speaker 2: in really good health for a guy who's eighty three.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Pat Bowland wasn't, and they said that that might have
- 50:10Speaker 2: been a factor to get him in sooner. But listen,
- 50:13Speaker 2: he's eighty three, Get him in now, Get him in now.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean it's just in some ways I see
- 50:18Speaker 3: it as Jerry Jones passing the baton to Robert Craft.
- 50:22Speaker 3: And I mean just the way that this game has
- 50:24Speaker 3: changed with social media, with the globalization of it. I
- 50:26Speaker 3: mean all these markets. I mean, we're in Germany, we're
- 50:28Speaker 3: in Brazil now, Like how much does Robert Craft. He's
- 50:31Speaker 3: a huge role in all of that. So that's the
- 50:34Speaker 3: stuff that matters to me. The winning the on field controversy,
- 50:37Speaker 3: that doesn't matter if I had to put an owner in.
- 50:39Speaker 3: It's about growing.
- 50:40Speaker 2: Did you make the game better? Yeah? Did you make
- 50:42Speaker 2: the game better? That's what an owner can do to
- 50:45Speaker 2: get into the Hall of Fame because obviously they're not coaching,
- 50:47Speaker 2: they're not on the field. That's what they can do
- 50:50Speaker 2: to earn a right to get.
- 50:51Speaker 3: And building bridges too, I mean, I know that's the
- 50:53Speaker 3: best common you know, the best example is eleven and
- 50:55Speaker 3: you know Robert being credited with you know, playing a
- 50:58Speaker 3: big part in ending the lockout. But you know, it's
- 51:00Speaker 3: it's it's more than that. And I mean I talked
- 51:02Speaker 3: about around here. It's just on a personal level, but
- 51:05Speaker 3: I think it means a lot to this community. And
- 51:07Speaker 3: I know it doesn't have anything to do with the
- 51:08Speaker 3: Hall of Fame, but just how much he's grown this
- 51:11Speaker 3: franchise and taken it from whatever it was to you know,
- 51:14Speaker 3: twenty million dollars to now it's a billion dollar franchise.
- 51:16Speaker 3: I mean, and all these guys are making all this
- 51:18Speaker 3: money because of that.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, we're gonna take a break because my

- 53:08Speaker 2: Get what you did on week one.
- 53:09Speaker 8: And I was going to improve that?
- 53:12Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, that's that's what this business is is,
- 53:15Speaker 7: you know, getting better each and every day.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Uh.
- 53:17Speaker 7: Obviously getting a chance to go back and watch the
- 53:19Speaker 7: film and.
- 53:24Speaker 3: We got some I'm sorry, sorry, come on, man.
- 53:37Speaker 7: I'm a good sport. N C stayed losing to uh
- 53:43Speaker 7: tennessee him and Joe. But uh, back to your question.
- 53:49Speaker 7: You know, obviously watching the film and seeing a lot
- 53:52Speaker 7: of things that you know as a as a team,
- 53:55Speaker 7: as an offense, and obviously personally that you know, rooms
- 53:58Speaker 7: and improve improvement, and we were joking about yesterday or Monday.
- 54:02Speaker 7: It was like it's always better to learn from a
- 54:04Speaker 7: win than a loss. But uh so excited to get
- 54:07Speaker 7: back on the practice feeling and correct those correct those
- 54:09Speaker 7: things and get moving forward.
- 54:11Speaker 8: He was talking to about, how did you guys thinking
- 54:15Speaker 8: of the help? Yeah, what does that mean for you?
- 54:17Speaker 8: What sort of tea body experience?
- 54:19Speaker 7: Is it like when you team bond? And I don't
- 54:23Speaker 7: know about that, but uh no, but he's right. We
- 54:28Speaker 7: got to the point where it was just we saw
- 54:30Speaker 7: what type of game it turned into, and uh, you know,
- 54:33Speaker 7: the cool part was is like it was no egos
- 54:35Speaker 7: in the huddle, you know, and everybody kind of you know,
- 54:37Speaker 7: bought into it and realized like you know, we're running
- 54:41Speaker 7: one play the whole time, you know what I mean,
- 54:42Speaker 7: and they're not stopping it, so why why change it?
- 54:45Speaker 7: And uh, you know that was I think that was
- 54:47Speaker 7: one of the more cooler moments in my uh you
- 54:49Speaker 7: know career. Everybody in the huddle is saying, like, let's
- 54:51Speaker 7: take them to the hill because we knew we were
- 54:53Speaker 7: in that much better shape than they were, and uh,
- 54:55Speaker 7: you know, I think it paid off.
- 54:58Speaker 5: How important is it for the players to kind of
- 55:02Speaker 5: seeo process, whether it's you guys running the hill and being.
- 55:07Speaker 4: Better conditioned, whether it's a game plan, how how important
- 55:11Speaker 4: is it for to get results from what results are preaching?
- 55:16Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it's it's it's really good just because
- 55:21Speaker 7: from the standpoint of you know, it's you see the
- 55:25Speaker 7: direction that we're trying to go, you know, and you
- 55:28Speaker 7: see what happens when you know you do follow the
- 55:31Speaker 7: process and you do buy into the plan. I mean, obviously,
- 55:33Speaker 7: some day, some days you're gonna you're gonna do that
- 55:35Speaker 7: and you're not gonna get the results you want. But
- 55:37Speaker 7: you know, I think it's even more apparent after you know,
- 55:40Speaker 7: you do get those results, it's now you gotta double down.
- 55:42Speaker 7: On it even more because you know, it's it shows
- 55:47Speaker 7: you that you can't take that much more of a
- 55:49Speaker 7: you know, I think a slack in the preparation to
- 55:53Speaker 7: get you to the game.
- 55:54Speaker 4: Be looking forward to this Sunday, How do you see
- 55:56Speaker 4: the sort of challenges that the Seahawks defense and do
- 56:00Speaker 4: you see similarities through what the Ravens did the last Sea?
- 56:03Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 56:03Speaker 7: Obviously, you know Mike, Mike has done a good job
- 56:05Speaker 7: dating back to his raven days and and uh, you
- 56:08Speaker 7: know the way he calls the games and then and
- 56:10Speaker 7: you know, dating back to the Ravens and even like
- 56:12Speaker 7: this year, with those guys, they keep you on your toes.
- 56:15Speaker 7: You know, I got a lot of really good players
- 56:17Speaker 7: on defense, guys that have made the Pro Bowl and
- 56:20Speaker 7: some of the better better players in this league. And
- 56:22Speaker 7: so he uses those guys very well within his scheme.
- 56:27Speaker 2: You know.
- 56:27Speaker 7: So we got to be on our p's and q's.
- 56:29Speaker 2: Is gonna be a big one for us.
- 56:30Speaker 7: Obviously it starts today with you know, first and second
- 56:33Speaker 7: down and trying to you know, master that play right now, uh,
- 56:36Speaker 7: and then moving forward throughout the week because the the
- 56:40Speaker 7: more like the third downs and red zones and the
- 56:42Speaker 7: situation gets that's when uh, you know, they get better.
- 56:47Speaker 8: Defense all summer.
- 56:48Speaker 7: Do you see these similarities the way that you know
- 56:50Speaker 7: Baltimore but now Seattle wants to play in the way
- 56:52Speaker 7: that you guys play the defensive somewhat similar obviously. Uh,
- 56:56Speaker 7: you know, you get a lot of different looks up
- 56:57Speaker 7: from the with the guys obviously had a good cover
- 56:59Speaker 7: guy of which we do when they do as well.
- 57:02Speaker 8: Uh.
- 57:03Speaker 7: And I think taking that approach and you know you
- 57:05Speaker 7: kind of I guess screwing with the you know, the
- 57:09Speaker 7: offensive rules as far as like protection or run game
- 57:12Speaker 7: and things like that. I think that's what this style
- 57:14Speaker 7: of defense tries to do really well. I mean, that's
- 57:16Speaker 7: what they do really well. Uh So uh, like I said,
- 57:19Speaker 7: first and second down, so kind of trying to you know,
- 57:21Speaker 7: put that in his own bucket and take care of
- 57:23Speaker 7: for that.
- 57:24Speaker 14: With yourun talked about the ability for a team to
- 57:27Speaker 14: be able to make changes on the fly as things
- 57:30Speaker 14: are going on. What gives you confidence that your offense
- 57:34Speaker 14: can see one thing and then make a change to
- 57:36Speaker 14: do another thing if that is what you.
- 57:38Speaker 7: Need to do, Because that's what we did Sunday, you know,
- 57:41Speaker 7: it was it was a couple of looks that we
- 57:44Speaker 7: thought we were getting based on the scout report, and uh,
- 57:49Speaker 7: you know, and I mean from a VP and those
- 57:51Speaker 7: guys playing Cincinnati and lou whiles ago, and we came
- 57:55Speaker 7: out and they gave us different looks, and therefore it
- 57:57Speaker 7: led to some different different calls for us to make
- 58:00Speaker 7: towards the end of the game. And I think you
- 58:01Speaker 7: saw that as far as like some of our run
- 58:03Speaker 7: game calls were a little different than we expected, and
- 58:06Speaker 7: putting in our guys being able to you know, change
- 58:09Speaker 7: on the fly, as far as like making like alerts
- 58:11Speaker 7: on the play or checks on the play within the play,
- 58:14Speaker 7: you know what I mean. So I thought that was
- 58:15Speaker 7: good for us to see that, And and that just
- 58:17Speaker 7: goes back to our ability to adapt in and you know,
- 58:20Speaker 7: learn them the fly.
- 58:21Speaker 3: COVID taking your five question first year as a starter,
- 58:24Speaker 3: you'll have the league in sacks, but play it seems
- 58:27Speaker 3: like your ability.
- 58:27Speaker 4: To feign pressure has improved throughout the years.
- 58:30Speaker 2: I have you done that just beyond the offensive lines.
- 58:33Speaker 7: Pect, I mean, I think it it. I've been fortunate
- 58:39Speaker 7: to play on really good old lines. I think that
- 58:41Speaker 7: plays a part in it. Understanding football a little bit more,
- 58:45Speaker 7: uh you know, being okay with you know, throwing throwing
- 58:48Speaker 7: the ball away.
- 58:48Speaker 2: I think, uh, you.
- 58:49Speaker 7: Know, I'll see that you're a completion percentage context hit,
- 58:52Speaker 7: but it's it's I think that's better than a second
- 58:55Speaker 7: getting into negative yards. And I think understanding that you
- 58:58Speaker 7: know more now, am I, I guess older days than
- 59:02Speaker 7: I was when I was when I was younger in
- 59:04Speaker 7: the league. I think that's definitely has paid off. And
- 59:06Speaker 7: watching really good quarterbacks honestly do it for a while,
- 59:10Speaker 7: watching Tom and Philip and Andrews finding ways to you know,
- 59:13Speaker 7: not get negative plays, you know, so I think that
- 59:16Speaker 7: definitely played a part of it.
- 59:17Speaker 4: The second laf of that game against Cincinnati had a
- 59:20Speaker 4: deep attempt down the field to type one.
- 59:22Speaker 7: I'm just wondering how important you think it is to
- 59:25Speaker 7: try to get him involved down the field, just show
- 59:27Speaker 7: a willingness to even make those types of pros to
- 59:29Speaker 7: maybe try to soften the defense up for your running. Yeah,
- 59:33Speaker 7: you know, I think that's definitely important just because of
- 59:35Speaker 7: you know, who he is as a player, you know,
- 59:37Speaker 7: I mean, being able to stretch your field. I mean,
- 59:39Speaker 7: it's one of the fastest, if not the fastest. Yode
- 59:41Speaker 7: On our team, you know, his ability to get down
- 59:43Speaker 7: the field at a fast rate. Definitely got to try to,
- 59:47Speaker 7: you know, make the defense feel like that's a possibility,
- 59:50Speaker 7: you know, and obviously when we get chances to hit him.
- 59:52Speaker 7: But I think we did that one time, and then
- 59:53Speaker 7: the next time, you know, they're playing completely soft zone
- 59:56Speaker 7: on him, he sits in his own and gets a
- 59:57Speaker 7: big completion. So I think a lot of those things Ona,
- 1:00:00Speaker 7: you know, play hand to hand each other with each other,
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: and so definitely finding more ways to not just with him,
- 1:00:07Speaker 7: with other guys as well, you know, try to exploit
- 1:00:09Speaker 7: some of those things.
- 1:00:11Speaker 8: Yeah, thank you.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: YEA great moments in.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: History. Evan lecturing Tamara about local cuisine. Didn't he eat
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: McDonald's in Germany? No, that was me.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: I did not eat.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: That was actually Samara, I run Alex and Matisza.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: I had McDonald's twice in Joan, don't throw me in that? Wait?
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: Wait did you get five guys?
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: I went to podcast, but I also had the Schnitzel.
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: Wait, but I.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Will call out.
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: I will call Evan on this.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: He was too good for German coffee.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: He had to have stars.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: But ill you recall that I immediately texted Beth and said, oh,
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: you'd like Evan, but I what Starbucks.
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: I'm sure it doesn't surprise anybody that I am a
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: food snob. That's food. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Surprise anybody, Patrick Patrick and Ottawa thinks I'm a food
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: snow he says, when Fred, when Fred speaks of food,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: it's with such snobbery.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: Yes, there's no question heils it.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: He channels the soul of Eric.
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: You tell everybody, don't get this, get this.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: This is the better I can't may Baker Fred.
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: I feel like Fred and I are on the same wavelength.
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: But he takes he does it a little bit more
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: than I do.
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: He's worse than you at it. Yes, smash one before
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: smash Burger is the tavern burger. That's the one that's
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: the one that you're wasting your time with. The Whiskey
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: river barbere no.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Mayo on it.
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: Don't put Mayo on it.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Yeah, Mayo ruined it. H Mayo.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: Fred's always telling me not to put on something.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: That's another great moment.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: All right back here on Patriots on Filter at eight
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: five five pass five hundred is the TPX Hotline web
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: radio at Patriots dot com. It's the email address. It's
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Duce Paul, myself. Evan will be here soon. We're gonna
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: do picks. Yeah.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: Yeah, Alex got three tires.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Yeah, so Alex is not going to be here. She has,
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: but she has sent her picks in. I have the picks,
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: so she'll be legit. Yeah, we'll have us pick in
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: on time. Yeah. And you know it's it's actually tougher
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: to mail him in because you don't listen to anyone else.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: You can't be swayed. It has all right, anything else
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: before we get back to our callers and emailers. O,
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: why don't we be listener driven? Okay, all right, let's
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: go to Christian in Virginia. What's up Christian? Christian?
- 1:02:57Speaker 15: Hey, how's it going good.
- 1:03:01Speaker 9: I've got a question. Do you guys think that the
- 1:03:03Speaker 9: tight ends are going to be utilized more in this game?
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: In the preseason, you know, we kind of were assuming
- 1:03:10Speaker 9: that they were going to be used a lot, and
- 1:03:11Speaker 9: then we didn't see a lot of them going against
- 1:03:14Speaker 9: the Bengals. But I would also credit that just to
- 1:03:16Speaker 9: the injuries in that position. But yeah, I'll take it
- 1:03:19Speaker 9: off their community.
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: Okay, it's a great question.
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: That's why I'm going to write about the tight ends today.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: I just I think, you know, we saw a lot
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: of them in the in the summer. Hooper very experienced.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: But I just think with the way that Seattle likes
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: to send random guys, having two smart veteran tight ends
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: who know where to go and know, you know, it's
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: the easy passes for Brissette. Instead of hoping that all right,
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: he's going to start connecting with Taye kwont this game
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: and you know it's going to be three twenty yard
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: path that's hard to really hope for. I don't think
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: it's hard to hope that those two tight ends are
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: more productive they I mean, I think they.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Catches the injuries to their linebackers. Maybe you can exploit.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: That right right, so you know, like I said, I
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: think they have five catches last game buying, but but
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: there were a couple of key catches you know, for
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: them down down the way, So we'll see. I think
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: it's an easy step maybe to start to unlock the
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: passing game a little bit, involve those two tight ends
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: a little bit more.
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: Yeah, so we're basically just talking about throwing the ball
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: to them because they yeah, they both played a ton yeah. Yeah,
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: and I think when you add in the eighteen snaps
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: from Wallace, that's a lot of tight end work, Like
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: they ran the ball yeah predominantly. So yeah, I mean
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: I think that that that could change. I think Mike
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: has got it. With some pressure and stuff, you might
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: have some quick, easy outlets. I think Hooper was the
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: target on one of those early Yeah. Yeah, I think
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: they're healthy. I think they played a ton Hunter Henry
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: and Austin Hooper. Yeah, just involved in health thing. They
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: both were out there a lot.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: And uh and Bicknell was very uh, you know, just
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: complimentary about their willingness to block and to get in there.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: I mean, and neither one of them are you know,
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: necessarily what they're known for. But yeah, I got some
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: good stuff out of him just about I asked him like,
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: are they complimentary because they seem very similar, and he
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: actually ran down Like when I first got here, I
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: you know, went in and kind of studied them. So
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: we had some good stuff just about how they kind
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: of you know, differentiate the two guys.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I'm looking I'm looking ahead to when
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: May comes in. Anything they can do to develop the
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: passing game is going to be good for when he
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: does play. At the same time, if they can continue
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: to keep that identity as a running team, like you know,
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: we're gonna run, We're gonna run it anyway and we're
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: going to be successful. That's going to help May too.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: You know, keep teams on their on their heels.
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: So if you can run the ball like that and
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: then have a passing game to go with it, now
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: you've become an explosive offense.
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's it's like at this point, it's like,
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: all right, you know that Stevens is gonna be here
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: for a couple more years, so you know, you know
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: you got him. But they really seem to believe in him.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: When Paul talked about Taylor Embery, how high they are
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: on him and his potential. So he's he's going to
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: be a piece when when May does get there and
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: you know into next year.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: In the year after I did, like some of the
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: coaches answers, you know, Van Pelt was asked about it,
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: everybody was asked about it, like you know, what did
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: you because he surprised you, you know, and did what
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: were your thoughts on Stevenson And like they're like, no,
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: like we watched this guy, he's one of He's a
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: really good back. He runs with a lot of power.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: We saw him breaking a lot of tackles, I think
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: Van Pelt said, we saw him breaking a lot of tackles,
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: you know, in the past years too. Like I don't know,
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: like maybe Mayo was right, maybe some of the media
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: corps didn't really understand that reminder. Stevenson is a pretty
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: good back.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: Well, I think, you know, I think nationally he gets
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: put aside, you know, in the past because he was
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: out a lot with the injuries.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: You know, he was well, I don't think he's like nationally,
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: I don't think he's one of those guys talked.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: About like if he had if he continues the season
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: he's had in that first game, he will be talked
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: about like that. But in the past, you know, like
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: he wasn't in that group of elite backs in the NFL.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: Now, I mean, I think he was good. He was
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: like one hundred and twenty yards. I mean it was
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: like his third highest total of his career. You know,
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: So he's not he hasn't had overwhelming production. He's been
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: hurt a little bit. His best season twenty twenty two.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: And the rest of the offense held him back. I
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: think just the ineptness of the offense as a whole.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: He's not talk to Anbury about this too, about the workload,
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: like he's not gonna like. They don't want that. They
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: don't want him getting twenty five carries every week. That
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: was not necessarily something they did by design, but they
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: rode the hot hand clearly. It was better when he
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: was getting the carries than it was when Gibson. No
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: offense to Gibson, it wasn't his fault, right, but I
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: thought Stevenson was doing a better job of making those
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: guys miss. I think Gibson made guys miss on some
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: three yard runs. I thought he was breaking tackles in
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: the backfield. Yeah, you know, I think he also. I
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: think Evan said he felt like he left some yards
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: out there. Yeah, Gibson to just being on the injury
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: report too. I might have been little bit, but I
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: think he was good this summer, and I think he'll
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: be a good complimentary piece, you know, even maybe a
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: little bit more of a pass catcher, but still balanced,
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: like like the Andreas.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Uh Brads in Ohio. What's up Brad Brad today? Good morning, afternoon,
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: Good afternoon, good morning, wherever you are.
- 1:08:14Speaker 15: What's happen, Brad from Ohio, the Michigan the Michigan fan.
- 1:08:19Speaker 15: That's uh, you know, feeling pretty bad after last week
- 1:08:22Speaker 15: and probably looking that way the rest of the season
- 1:08:25Speaker 15: for them. Uh. Anyway, I just wanted to call and
- 1:08:30Speaker 15: see how you guys were thinking about a couple of
- 1:08:32Speaker 15: things here city now is do we have any news
- 1:08:37Speaker 15: about anything? I mean, it's it's not a serious injury, right.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't. I wouldn't. I wouldn't. I wouldn't look
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: for him this week.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: But yeah, no, unless something.
- 1:08:48Speaker 9: From someone that can.
- 1:08:50Speaker 15: You know, with LANDA Robinson, you know, in the way
- 1:08:53Speaker 15: he played, he's being I don't think you I don't
- 1:08:57Speaker 15: want to say being overlooked, but I mean, if he's
- 1:08:59Speaker 15: just gonna to be another good grun blocker we got
- 1:09:02Speaker 15: if we can get him in there, yeah, be healthy,
- 1:09:04Speaker 15: because that's what he was good at doing, right.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: He's a he's a good guard. He's a good guard.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not so worried about the interior right now,
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: you know. My thoughts are to the outside. Yeah, I'm
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: a little worried. Thanks Brad.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: Nature yeah, I just I wonder if there's a future
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: where it's Robinson left guard Andrews on when you you know,
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: I just I think that's a really solid interior core.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: And if Wallace could immerge the right.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Thing, you get two tackles, you get your wish, but Wallace.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: But you know, if Wallace could too, I mean, all
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: of a sudden, you know, you've got a couple of
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: rookies who are playing and long term you know solutions.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Evans here as we turned, has turned, has turned.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: We need a music video for that.
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: So was back at practice speaking of City, not at
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: practice He was the only Patriots player missing from practice
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: again today. So again, like I said yesterday, Uh stinks
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: for City, but they're pretty healthy coming out of that game.
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: Everybody's been participating besides him. So nobody that played in
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: the game on Sunday got injured seriously, which is I
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: think it's good news for sure. Try to you know,
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: caveatoge as much as I can, serious, I mean, get hurt.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: I'm sure there's bumps and bruises, but yeah, to my
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: my eye, I didn't really catch anybody even look like
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: they were dealing with anything. We didn't mention any injuries. No,
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: we started taking calls like in the middle of the
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: good list, you know, and shot crowsing, well that now
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: he's one of us. We're going to learn that.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: We can't do like keep telling me all the things
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: I'm doing.
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: Right, We can't do like we usould do with Hardy, Right.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: Well, how do we get mad? And then he would
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: kind of yell back at you was great, right, right,
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: and then he'd be like kind of angry, hearty.
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: And Matt, We'll go okay, fine, I'll just sit here.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: Okay, So what do you got.
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: That's kind of a quiet day honestly today, you know, shells,
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: no pads after pads yesterday, so pretty standard. Wednesday in pads,
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: Thursday back in shells. So city show, wasn't there? Offensive line?
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: Looks like it's going to be the same as it
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: was in the fourth quarter last week once you know,
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: choops of four four went out for Vederian Low and other.
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: Other than that, it looks like business as usual.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: Okayvan, I've been teasing your piece about Drake May a
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: little bit. You could give the audience a little a
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: little looky lou insight into what Drake had to tell you.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Yesterday.
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I had a good conversation with him yesterday and
- 1:11:47Speaker 5: it was cool. He kind of just took me through
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: his week and what he was able to do behind
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: the scenes, and there's some a few interesting things, I think,
- 1:11:55Speaker 5: you know, just off the top. He did take some
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: first team reps. You talked about this a little bit yesterday,
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: but he said early in the week, so it sounded
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: like dose came for the most part on Wednesday, and
- 1:12:06Speaker 5: then once they started to get into real game plan
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: for the Bengals, then Jacobi obviously took over and did
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: a lot of those things. And then Drake May was
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: mimicking Joe Burrow, you know, and on the scout team
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: for a lot of the week as well. And we
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: talked a little bit about the VR technology because I'm
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: like fascinated by it. I think it's really cool, and
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: he has been using that a little bit. They actually
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: gave him a at home kit so he can now
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: do it at his house and bring it home with him.
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: And that's Patriots plays. So he says, he puts in there,
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: you know, third down, two minute like situational football type
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: of things, and then he just goes through these are
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: our routes, this is the progression, this is the defense
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: I'm going against, And you can wear the goggles and
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: actually puts you on the field against the defense and
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: you can actually play the game that way. So it's interesting.
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: I got two things on that. One, I feel like
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: I would wear that like all night, Like I would
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: just be like, I'll be a bet in a minute.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: But like my other grand idea is, couldn't we have
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: like instead of just top golf, like have a bar
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: where they have those goggles and you just kind of
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: sit around and drink and you're like, all right, Evan,
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: you're up on the two minute drill, you know, and
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: you kind of do it that way instead of let
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: you know, sports, you know, like that.
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: Get on.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: It needs investors, a blog of money.
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: You need some money.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: People vomiting all over the place. They do make for
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: some people. There's like a motion sickness thing.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: I can see that, yea, he said.
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: So it's on an iPad, is like the software is
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: on an iPad, and then they cannot even to the headset.
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: And he said that you can also just like go
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: like watch it on the iPad like kind of like
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: a video game. And so he said that he does that,
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: probably more than wearing the whole headset and everything, but
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: he seems to think it's useful to at least run
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: through the Patriots base plays because he's you know, doing
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: scout team and doing other things during the week at practice,
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: so that allows him to go back and run through
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: some Patriots stuff to try to get that.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: So we went around the desk earlier about a VP's
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: comments about plays that he wished he had done. Yeah,
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: what was your interpretation of that quote?
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: Well, I think every week, I'm sure there are times
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: where you're like, ah, dang, like you know, they did
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: this and we weren't really planning for them to do that,
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: and we didn't have a counter, we didn't have an
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: answer to it on the call sheet. I'm sure that
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: happens a lot.
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: That makes sense too, that's another different variation.
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: Yeah, it makes sense. Yeah, you know those types of things.
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: I didn't necessarily think it was anything.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: So why did you think that they didn't have a
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: counter to it.
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: Well, maybe they just you know, it's week one. The
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: Bengals might not have put everything on film in the
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: preseason that they saw on the game, and so you
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: get into the game and the Bengals are running a
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: different coverage or a different front or something like that
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: that you weren't necessarily prepared for going in, and then
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: you realize like, oh, I don't really have like a
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: great play to counter this on this call sheet. So
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: those I'm sure those are second guesses. That's all this.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: I was kind of hoping, and I'm probably not right,
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: but I was hoping he was subtly saying, yeah, if
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: we had Drake May in there, we would have been
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: able to do someone enuff out of the pocket, get
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: the ball down field.
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: I told him I liked his thing.
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: I just didn't think, yeah, yeah, I hear what you're saying.
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: But I did not interpret it that way.
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, And none of us interpreted it as like, oh, well,
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: he's just not ready to call plays. He was unprepared.
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: None of us took it that way.
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: Just now.
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: I kind of wondered if maybe they just didn't have
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: enough installed yet or that they felt comfortable with. And
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: there were things that he wished, you know, because obviously
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: he knows all the plays right system, but he didn't
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: feel comfortable calling something that wasn't on the sheet because
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: not being confident that they'd be able to run it.
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: It's possible. I definitely feel like you have theory better. Yeah,
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: I definitely feel like that's possible though, because him and
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: Jacoby were in this offense together in twenty twenty two,
- 1:15:58Speaker 5: So their knowledge level of what is in the playbook
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: is that probably at a much different level then let's
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: say Jalen Polk's like knowledge level of what's in the playbook.
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: So that could definitely be the case. But the way
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: I looked at it was, you know, give some props
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: to Big Lou, like he threw some things at me
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: I wasn't necessarily prepared for, which I'm sure, like I said, happens.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: And he mentioned earlier in the press conference that the
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: Bengals didn't pressure as much as he thought they would. Yeah,
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: and again Mike and I immediately talked after which I
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: think some people might be like, they didn't get as
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: much pressure. They were pressured on fifty percent. I don't
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: think that's what he was talking about. He was talking
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: about blitzing, like correct coming at him with different stuff,
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: and they didn't blitz a lot. Yeah, maybe that was
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: something that you know, goes hand in hand to what
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: you were saying.
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, like you would say, they had like a
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: bunch of answers to blitzes on the call sheet and
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: they ended up not even touching any of them because
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: that's not necessarily what they were doing. Well, now, you
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: could have replaced those plays with plays that would have
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: been more conducive, right that. It's definitely possible too.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you know they I think what was an eighteen
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: plays that they had six linemen in kid? Do you
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: think they needed to haven't that mench or is that
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: something they did, you know, out of safety? But if
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: you look back now, maybe you didn't need to do that.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I know, I thought that was a good part
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: of the game plan. They did it a bunch against
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: this defense in the with the Browns. You know, the
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: Browns did a lot of six offensive linemen against Cincinnati
- 1:17:29Speaker 5: over the years. So whatever it is at their fronts
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: or something like that that they run, they feel like
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: it's useful. I think the game would priset In twenty
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: two that I watch, I think they had twenty two
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: snaps with a sixth offensive lineman, so this week they
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: had eighteen. Two of them were Neil downs by the way,
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: So really it was sixteen.
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: Did you guys go back and look were there any passes? One?
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: There was one? Yeah, I owent back and looked at that,
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: so there was one pass. It was the checkdown play
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: action checkdown, Tomandre Stevenson.
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: I wonder if they checked out of a run on
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: the play possible or were they taking a shot.
- 1:18:06Speaker 5: Maybe it was supposed to be a shot all right?
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: Web radio at patries dot com as the email address
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: spiin Fresno writes in he says, the new mic song
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: is pretty wild and wacky stuff, and I'm not sure
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: I can handle this switch from the ace ticket hutline
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: to TPX. The world is changing and I'm scared anyway.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: Love that question yesterday about what people aren't worried about
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: but should be. I'll throw my hat in the ring
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: with perhaps an odd one. Christian Gonzales. People talk about
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: him like we've got the number one corner position locked up,
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: but it's still effectively his rookie year. He did find
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: last week, but also had soft coverage against Chase at times,
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: including the first down conversion just before the near touchdown
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: by Kasiki. I believe lack of aggression was the critique
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: of Gonzo coming from college, hopefully we'll see him as
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: sin but maybe people should worry a little about whether
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: he's the next Revus or Gilmour.
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: I would say on my list of worries, he is
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: maybe the most towards the bottom of the list. Is
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: anybody on this team. If we're just gonna go.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: Somewhere, we play left tackle, and I'm gonna say that
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: he Like, out of fifty three guys that are on
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: this team, he's fifty three in terms of the.
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: Guys that I am worried about on this team. Like, no,
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: he does not have a angry streak in him necessarily,
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: Like he's not one of those guys that plays an
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: ultra physical brand of football. But his coverage is just
- 1:19:30Speaker 5: I mean, he's just a ballery run.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: Oh shoot, I just lost it.
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: I had I think I would fall in the middle.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: He's not on my list of concerns, But I think
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: it all depends on what you think he is. If
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: you think he's the Gilmore and Reeves, then I'd be concerned.
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: I don't think he's that good, but I think what
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: Evan said is largely accurate. I think he's a really
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: good cover guy. I haven't seen any of the games
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: that he's played where I said, wow, he's struggling today.
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: I think he's pretty consistent. I don't I don't have
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: him on my list of concern but I don't look
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: at him like this.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: At the present. I don't, but I think he can
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: be as good as Gilmore down the road.
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: See, I was kind of thinking maybe for what Evan
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: was talking about, like just that sort of edge.
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know if Gilmore necessarily played with that either.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: Like, yeah, that's why I said Gilmour and that's not Reave.
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: This maybe Gilmore like Patriots Gilmore, but Buffalo.
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: Gilmore is there.
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, like I I that took Giore.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:20:32Speaker 5: I love Gilmore, but it just took it took Steph
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: some time to get you know, he came here and
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: really that's when he became the player that he that
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: he became with under Bill, Like that wasn't the guy
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: that you know, asked the Bills fans about about Gilmore. Yeah,
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: I was.
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: I was wondering about putting Gonzales on Lockett, you know,
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: I mean it's kind of considering the matchups this week,
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: and it's just it still seems like Lockett is the
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: engine kind of a guy, you know, especially if they
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: don't have a run game, maybe you got to put
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: a safety over Metcalf right, and you know, then you
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: kind of maybe take your chances with with js N
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: and and and Jones. We'll see how they how they
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: do it with man and zone and stuff. But that
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: that to me seems like a matchup that might make sense.
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: Stick him on locket.
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I would put him on Metcalf and
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: take him, take Metcalf out of the game, and put
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: Jonathan Jones unlocked it. That's the kind of guy that
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: Jones has had successful.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: Nolan California has over under game ready, Stevenson over under
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: one hundred rushing yards.
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: I'm gonna go under.
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna say under.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: I just think they're gonna say, we're not gonna let
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: Stevenson beat us this week, and you want to beat
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: us with I think.
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: The Patriots are gonna say we can't ride him into
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: the ground. Yeah, that's true, right out of the game
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: and intentionally try to lessen his load.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: A little bit. Jacoby Brissette over under two passing tds.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: I go to I'll go to push push, I'm gonna
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: say under, Poke, Fred's.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: Get another track to pull coming Sunday.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: Poke over under five catches under under yeah, probably under
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: defense over under, three turnovers under and finally bonus. At
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: what point, if any the fans chant for Drake May.
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: Under Yeah, I don't think that.
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: I don't think that will.
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: I don't think you'll hear it. But I don't rule it.
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: Out unless it's like seven interceptions from Jogo, maybe three,
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: but you know, a bunch of bunch of turnovers from
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: Brasseat and Zap zap, Wait May May.
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: It's gonna be hard to chant that.
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't.
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: We want Drake, we want we want may Or, we
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: want may Or Drake.
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: I would say, let Drake bake. Know I'm just some
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: spip on her.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: A couple of emails, Uh, just little note. People probably
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: know that listen to this show. But Brazil is our
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: home market, one of our home markets now and uh
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: we've got a couple of emails from Brazil. So I
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: just wanted to read the letitia from Pernambuco, Brazil, but
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: originally from Toronto, Canada. First of all, I want to
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: say I love the show in all of you. However,
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: Paul saying that Brazil is not ready to host the
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: NFL game. Really disappointed me. Brazil has successfully hosted not
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: only the Olympics but also the World Cup. Yes, the
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: grass was higher than it should have been for football,
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: but that has also happened in Wembley in London, given
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: both of the stadiums are almost one hundred percent of
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: the time used for soccer games, and I think we
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: can all agree that that's easily corrected for the next time.
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: Other than that there was nothing major to correct.
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: Well, they have yet to corrected in London. Yeah, the
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: field conditions in London have been a problem every year,
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: so I think I don't think it's that easy to correct.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: It isn't What happens is when they put in new turf,
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: I don't care where or it is, like even for
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: the Super Bowl a couple of years The.
- 1:23:53Speaker 5: Super Bowl a couple of years ago was awful.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: It was awful.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: This is not something that's just resigned for international mark.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: That's what That's what And I think that's that's her
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: point too, is it's not about Brazil, it's about just
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: doing it right.
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: I blame London when it was in London, I'm gonna
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: blame Brazil, you know sal Paula. Yeah, when it's there.
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: She says, I know people who went to the game
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: and said everything went perfectly in the US. However, we
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: all remember what happened in the Copa America final in Miami,
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: and no one anywhere said that US is not ready
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: to host a major.
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: Of course they did.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: No, I mean Miami didn't get crucified for that.
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: They did, but of course they did.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: But but they didn't say that Miami can't host a
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: major sporting event.
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: Oh, I've heard them.
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: They do it every week.
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: I heard them say they can't do World Cup games.
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: Imagine what's going to happen when they do real World Cup. Well,
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: they like these American markets don't know how to do this.
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: There was absolutely that top We.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: Had World Cup here in the United States before.
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: You think it's a little different.
- 1:24:49Speaker 11: Now.
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: I'm just saying that they screwed up in Miami. But
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: that's not indicative screw up.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: You deserve the criticism, yes, sorry, but it doesn't mean
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: I didn't got a lot of criticism.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: Point is, people didn't say the US can't host major
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: sporting events.
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: Well, right, and that's what I didn't say. They couldn't
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: host major sporting events. I said they shouldn't host NFL games.
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: He said the Brazil is not ready for the NFL.
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: Correct, now stand by it?
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: Well, why is? Why is the NFL? That's much different
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: than the World Cup.
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: It wasn't a positive experience for the league. If you
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: listen to the two teams, they did nothing but bitch.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: Well that's that's fine anyway.
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: They say the same thing about London. This is not
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: about Brazil.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: I tried buying tickets for the game in South Paulo,
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: but they sold out in two hours. And the sports
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: getting more popular in Brazil. I listened religiously, including the
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: postgame show. I love Boston and I love all of
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: you except Evans. Sometimes there's no hard feelings. There's no
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: hard feelings, and I hope to meet all of you
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: in Brazil if the Pages play next year.
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: I thought for sure that was coming out about Brazil,
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: but it doesn't like me.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: One more one more from Brazil. This is from Philippe.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: He he's from Brazil. Shout out to Malcolm Butler and
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Goskowski for attending our first Patriots watch party in Brazil.
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: They were done cool last weekend. How long do you
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: guys think it would be until we use may on
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: the field realistically as a may as a Mayo decision
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: And how long do you personally hope it takes? One
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: plus question, are their hopes for Joe Milton develop into
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: a quarterback kind.
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: Of struggling right now because we have to lose probably
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: to get Drake may in, And like it's just been
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: nice to win a game and it feels good, and
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, I want may in, but like, I
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: also don't want to have to go through like four
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: straight weeks of just you know, bad losses. So but
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: I still want to see him before the season's out,
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: you know, preferably close to the middle of the season.
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: But I just it's gonna it's gonna hurt getting there.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: I feel like I'm not looking forward to Fred says
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: week six, week.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: Six, bye week six weeks bye week six.
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: How do I personally twenty minutes get him in there?
- 1:26:54Speaker 5: I like to score.
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: I mean, I'm kind of silly like that. I like
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: when they put points three.
- 1:26:58Speaker 5: Board, I would say still by Halloween. Yeah, I think
- 1:27:02Speaker 5: we're gonna see him by then. And the way they've
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: treated him in practice, it does sound like they're still
- 1:27:07Speaker 5: making sure he gets some of the reps, so I
- 1:27:11Speaker 5: would say by Halloween.
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: And I'm really stubborn, but I'm not stupid. If they
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: win twelve games playing the way they did on Sunday,
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: I'm all for it whatever it takes to win games. Personally,
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: I would rather see a little bit more of an
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: entertaining style, and I think May brings that so to me.
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: When they feel like he's ready, I want him in
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: there sooner rather than later. But I don't think that's
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: gonna happen.
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: Yeah. The question with is just some of the plays
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: that Jakobe left on film against Cincinnati. Does Drake May's
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: talent allow you to make those plays? And then on
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: the flip side, does he turn the ball over more?
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: Does some of the pressure that Brissett avoided cause May
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: to make rookie mistakes?
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: Right? Because of the balance, Because there's obviously some of
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: the of the shot plays that they did call where
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: I felt like May was in there, they'd have a
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: better chance of hitting those throws and what they did
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: with Jakobe. But then there's obviously a downside potential there too.
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: Kylon Pembroke writes in he says Evan's song is better
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: than Mike's song. Come on, oh and the Patriots win
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: twenty four to twenty one.
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: Some people like just such a check mark and the
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: human being category because Evan's song was actually written and
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: recorded by a human.
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: Wonders it was written by a human, just recorded by
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: Ai Touche. I guess it's my mind's better than not
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: the theme song.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: I guess I got one more, one more before we
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: get to uh the picks. Brian and Plymouth great to
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: have three shows a week. Love Mike's ridiculous new AI
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: song about time he got the love that he's quieter
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: and gets occasionally steamrolled, so it doesn't always jump out
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: how good his insight is.
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: Yes, you would let him.
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: That's a good point anyway. With the parl wash out
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: of the way, you talked about the increased access in
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: the locker room in general. Increased access has been a
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: theme this season, and it's a huge benefit to the
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: fans between that in the podcast, like Brian and David's
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: and Devon's. I love that almost instant dynamic content we're
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: getting this year. A lot of people have had enough
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: of Felger's faux arguments and all that noise.
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: Just out of curiosity has access we're talking about.
- 1:29:24Speaker 4: Yeah, So it's not any increase that more people accessible.
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: It's it's not an it's a different time of day.
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: Oh okay, it's allowing I think the media to have
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: better opportunities, just more guys. It's not increased acts.
- 1:29:36Speaker 5: I would say too, that they're also in better moods
- 1:29:40Speaker 5: because we're not catching them at the end of their
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: day where they've had a long day. So it feels
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: like a lot more energy in the room and like
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: you actually get a feel for what it's like during
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: the work day instead of at the end when everybody
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: is like ready to pack it up and go home.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: And you don't see people with the fear of God
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: in them when you're talking to them, that they're gonna
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: say something wrong.
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: I think that's you know, I think that's a relevant
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: part of it.
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: Like I would just say, if I had tried to
- 1:30:03Speaker 5: go up to a Drake May figure last year and
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: gotten the story that I got with Drake May, I'm
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: not one hundred percent sure he would have talked No.
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: I just don't know.
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: I don't know if that would have happened off limit, right,
- 1:30:21Speaker 5: So those types of things I think are nice, Like
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: we should know what's going on with Drake May. It
- 1:30:25Speaker 5: shouldn't be some sort of state secret.
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: He's training, he's practicing. Yeah, he's doing things to get
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: ready football things.
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: All right, now it's that time of the week.
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: I'm excited. I'm excited. I don't know. I feel like
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: I did pretty good. I don't know.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: Okay, Paul, what happened last week?
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: Well, Mike's intuition is correct. Mike was the big winner
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: in week one in the overall thirteen and three. Wow,
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: that is done outside standing, followed by Alex at twelve
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: and four, Paul at eleven and five, and then Evan
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: and Fred were nine and seven.
- 1:31:09Speaker 5: Still making money.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: Fred, you turned that frown upside down because with the spread,
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: which Fred and I like to refer to as the
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: men are separated from.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: The board counts.
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: Fred was eleven four and one. Mike, solid week for you,
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: nine six and one, Evan nine six and one, good
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: solid showing, and Alex and Paul seven eight and one.
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: It's very unlike me. Took a lot of upsets last
- 1:31:42Speaker 4: week and not a lot of.
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: Them came through. I like to thank my acceptance speech. Okay,
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: well that's four games behind the lead. I'm pleased. I
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: didn't think I did that well going.
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: That fast.
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: Your feel for the league is just dissipating.
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: Well, just so you know your full gamesind the overall league,
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: that's okay.
- 1:32:02Speaker 5: All right, that's not what matters.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: So we were we go to week two? Did we
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: see did what we see in week one make a difference?
- 1:32:09Speaker 7: Like?
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: Was it real? Who? You know? That's why week two
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: was so tough because you never know what you saw,
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: how much of it was actually what those teams are
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: going to be. Yeah, so let's get into it. We'll
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: start tonight on Prime Video eight fifteen. It's the one
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: and oh Bills against the one and oh Dolphins.
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: The Dolphins by two and a half.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:32:36Speaker 4: Evidently the Dolphins aren't playing any road games this week
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: this year? I guess not.
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: Is that right now?
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: I mean September two games I've seen.
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: I guess Buffalo owns Miami. I have lost track of
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: these things. That seems like Miami is fired up to
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: get over this hump against Buffalo from what I've seen.
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: So I'm gonna go with Miami at home. I just
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: I didn't like what I saw out of Buffalo last week.
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: I just I don't want I want to see And
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: I'm saying that as like a neutral fan, like I
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: want to see Josh Allen sit back and throw the
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: ball and pick, you know, and pick his spots with run.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: But it just felt like he got desperate. He started
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: running and you know, and it worked. But like I
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: just again, I don't know if it's sustainable. I like
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: Miami in this one. I will lay the.
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: Points so Alex also likes Miami.
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: Both ways, I'm gonna take Buffalo in this game. Miami
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: has yet to prove that they can actually beat another
- 1:33:24Speaker 5: good team in this Mike McDaniel era. They never beat
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: teams above five hundred, they never beat other playoff teams.
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: You know, it's early, but I like the Bills in
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: this game, and I like MVP Josh Allen. Let him,
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: let him run around and make plays.
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: Yeah, in terms of being sustainable, let's worked for about
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: seven years. Miami. I'm gonna take here because it's a
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: Thursday night game. I think that a lot of stuff
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: that Evan said I agreed with, but short week. I
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: know it's still early in the season, but I'm going
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: to give the home team. I think both of these
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: teams had really bad starts in really good second halves.
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: Buffalo dominated the second half of their game, but they
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: also played the Cardinals, who aren't as good as Jacksonville.
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: I'm gonna take Miami at home.
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, spot wise, it's a good one for
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: the Dolphins. But and even though I say the windows
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: closing for the Bills.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: I think you said it shut.
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm picking the Bills to win this game.
- 1:34:17Speaker 4: Bills to win.
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: Yeah, go to alright, Paul outright.
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: Outright, Bills out right wrote I wrote it down.
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: Okay, Uh, and we got Alex's pick, right, we get
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: okay Uh. Sunday at one, the oh and one Raiders
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: go across country to play the oh to one Ravens.
- 1:34:39Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: The Ravens by eight and a half.
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: Big spread, that's a big spread. But I'm gonna I'm
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: gonna lay those points because I just I get a
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: bad feeling about the Raiders this year. You know, saw
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: little implosion last week. Gardner Minshew, I don't, I don't
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: know what's going on Baltimore. Maybe a little angry they
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: get back home. I like them big.
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: Alex also likes Baltimore, but both ways. Yeah, I'm doing
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: the same thing. I think Baltimore bounces back this week.
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: So I'm gonna take Baltimore.
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: You're overthinking and I'll chicken out.
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: I'll take that.
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: I don't I don't like given more than a touchdown
- 1:35:15Speaker 4: of the Ravens because they run the ball too much.
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: But I will take the Ravens both ways.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: That's a good, good choice. Ravens both ways.
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: I'm gonna be wrong together then I can't make up
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: any ground though.
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: That one o'clock on CBS, UH, the one and oh
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: Chargers going across country to the oh to one Panthers.
- 1:35:36Speaker 4: The lack by six six, Yeah, that's not enough. That's
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: not lack.
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: Is somebody hurt on the lack or something that doesn't seem.
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: Like well impressive.
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: The Panthers still three for being at home, so it's
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: really the lack by nine.
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: And that and there it is. I will take the
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: lack of the year, take the lack, lay the points.
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: Alex also will take the lack both ways. Yeah, I'm
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: gonna do the same thing. I think the Panther's the
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: worst team in the NFL.
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: I agree with that, and until I see something that
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: shows me differently. I will probably lay the points every week.
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: I'll take the lack both ways.
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: I'm on board with that charges both ways. One o'clock
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: on Fox, it's the one and O Saints at the
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: one and O.
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: Cowboys Cowboys by six.
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: By the way, do we know which game Tom Brady's doing?
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: The Cowboys.
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: He's doing the Cowboys again, Cowboys.
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: This is a good game. I mean, New Orleans blue
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: doors last week, and Dallas obviously they're doing well. I'm
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: gonna go with Dallas at home, but I'll take those points.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: I think it'll be close. Would you say the points
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: were six?
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: So Alex is doing the same. She takes Dallas, but
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: she's gonna take those six points.
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna do the same thing. I just I
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: liked how the New Orleans Saints played last week.
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: They were a little scared of car break up here.
- 1:36:55Speaker 5: So I am Alvin Kamara on my bench.
- 1:36:57Speaker 4: I so, against my instincts, this is the spot. Dallas usually,
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: as Fred likes to say, smells their own farts and
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: lays an egg. And I would at least take the
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: points here, but I'm not going to. I think New
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: Orleans played the Panthers. That's really no gauge. I think
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: that they played a real defense this week and Dallas
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: blows doors.
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm a little worried because we're all in too
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: much agreement. Dallas both ways one o'clock on Fox. The
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: Baker may feel led. Buccaneers at want to oh travel
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: to Detroit to play the Lions. Also want to.
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: Know rematch of a playoff game last year Wildcard game.
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: I believe Destois by seven and a half.
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: Detroit's got a really good offensive line, Tampa's got a
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: good defense. Though, I'm gonna I'm gonna take Detroit, but
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: I'm gonna take those points for Tampa. I think they
- 1:37:48Speaker 3: hang in there with Baker, they can put some points
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: on the board.
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: So Alex does the same Detroit, but she'll take the
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: seven and a half.
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: I'm gonna go Detroit. Detroit. I just think they're a
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: better team. I'm going to take them at home.
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: Okay, I agree with Evan that they're the better team,
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: but seven and a half is a lot of points.
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: I think Tampa looked pretty good offensively last week. Baker
- 1:38:10Speaker 4: baked as Fred lakes to say, I'm going to take
- 1:38:12Speaker 4: the points Detroit to win.
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: I'll take the points.
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: Yeah, me too, take the points. Lions win. But I
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: was thinking of picking the Buccaneers outright, but.
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: I'm just going to take to do that.
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: Yeah, Fox at Wonen won Colts at the ohen One Packers.
- 1:38:32Speaker 4: The Colts by three.
- 1:38:34Speaker 5: Oh yeah, because Jordan loves Who's who's the Malik will
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: willis hell hurt is love not that hurt actually.
- 1:38:41Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: Lafleur said that he didn't seem to think it was
- 1:38:45Speaker 5: going to be long term.
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: They didn't.
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: They didn't put him on.
- 1:38:47Speaker 6: I r.
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: Yes, they didn't think it would be four weeks, but
- 1:38:49Speaker 5: this one maybe not.
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: God, I I I don't know. I'm just not a
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: believer in India.
- 1:38:56Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: I will take Indy.
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: I'll lay the points, so Alex is also taking Indie
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: both ways.
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: I'm going to take the Packers. I know, Malik willis
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: us your bold decision.
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: I kind of wanted to make it. I couldn't do it.
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: I just it's lambeau Field. It's their first home game.
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: I like them.
- 1:39:13Speaker 5: They can just hand the ball off to Josh Jacobs
- 1:39:15Speaker 5: twenty five times. Like I feel like the Laflora will
- 1:39:18Speaker 5: be able to to design a game plan for Willis.
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: So I'm going to go with the pack.
- 1:39:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm going to take the Colts, but I'm worried
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: about it because Richardson is just so sort of a
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: ratic like yeah boom bloomer bust and I think in
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: Lambeau like you guys said, But I'm going to take
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: the Colts without without Jordan Love obviously.
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: So here's the game. You know, like if Love was
- 1:39:41Speaker 2: out for a long time, it's worth you know, it
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: kills your motivation more than now. You just need a
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: seat holder. And you've seen good teams where.
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: We can beat the Colts.
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: Yeah, they bring in the and they, like Evan said,
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: with So I'm going to take the Packers.
- 1:40:00Speaker 4: Think it's a sound reason.
- 1:40:01Speaker 5: That's a much better way of articulating. When I was
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: trying to say, I.
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: Thought I was stumbling all over my that's very very
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: sound reasoning.
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: I'm very surprised.
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we just need to keep the seat for a
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: few games and then we'll be all right. So let's
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: play our ass again the year.
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: You're like, well, what's the difference, We're going right? Going nowhere?
- 1:40:18Speaker 5: Like you know, twenty sixteen Patriots with Jimmy g and
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: Jacoby Brissett. You know, you just kind of get through it.
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: Then he comes back.
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: One o'clock on CBS, the Owen one Browns are at
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: the Owen one Jaguars.
- 1:40:33Speaker 4: Jaguars by by three.
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: Man, it's up there. Cleveland's up against it right now.
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: That's hard to pick them on the road in Jacksonville
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: probably gonna be hot. I mean, I don't know how
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: you roll with Deshaun Watson here three not a lot
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: of points. I'm gonna pretty confidently take the Jags and
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: lay the points.
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: So I agree that Deshaun Watson look terrible. I just
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: think the Jaguars are kind of soft football team and
- 1:40:59Speaker 5: the Browns are the opposite of a soft football team.
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: So I'm gonna take Cleveland in this game. I just
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: think they're going to control the line of scrimmage. That's
- 1:41:05Speaker 5: a ballsy pitch and they're gonna win that way.
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I think Cleveland's better than Jacksonville, but not with
- 1:41:10Speaker 4: all the guys they have out. I'm gonna take Jacksonville
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: at home to uh take take care of a team
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: that I don't think they're as good as. But yeah,
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: they're missing a lot of.
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: Parts taking Trevor Lawrence to beat the washed Watson was
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: I like that, that's.
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: Good for it.
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: Plus that whole thing hanging over there again, I think
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: is relevant.
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: Sunday at one CBS the one and oh. Forty nine
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: Ers are at the one and oh Vikingsniners by five
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: and a half. McCaffrey says he wants to play right.
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: It doesn't sound like that they already ruled him up.
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: They're they're trending them that way.
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: Okay, I just I can't. San Francisco look just look
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: too easy for them moving the ball at times against
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: the Jets. I gotta take San Francisco. I'm gonna lay
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: the points.
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: Alex also takes San Francisco both ways, and she took Jacksonville.
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: I'm not sure I said that, but she also took
- 1:42:03Speaker 4: Jacksonville both ways.
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: I will never pick against the forty nine ers forty
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: nine ers both ways. Kyle theay roll. He says he
- 1:42:12Speaker 5: has an undrafted running back that basically looked like Christian
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: McCaffrey in every Yeah, Niners, Wally both ways.
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: I will take the Niners both ways. Although I was
- 1:42:22Speaker 4: impressed with the Vikings even though they played the Giants.
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: I thought they looked they looked like they had a plan. Agreed, Yeah,
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: Sam darnol.
- 1:42:30Speaker 5: I think Kevin o'conne is a good coach.
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna take the forty nine ers, but I'm tempted,
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: but I'll stick with the forty nine ers. Sunday at
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: one on Fox, We're gonna skip that over. I'm sorry. Uh,
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: Sunday at one at CBS, the one Jets are at
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: the oen one Titans.
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: Jets by three and a half.
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Will Love has cut some strays there from from
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: Belichier two about his that you know, throw it fumble.
- 1:43:03Speaker 5: Pick, his amount of talent terrible.
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: No, well, just the mistake. He just pointed out the mistake.
- 1:43:08Speaker 5: Yeah right, not the big army.
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: I'm gonna take the Jets. They gotta they gotta put
- 1:43:14Speaker 3: something together. But I was not impressed with them the
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: other night. They just they looked slow to me, and
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: I've watched plenty of slow teams the last couple of years.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: But I'll take the Jets in this situation.
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: Alex also will take the Jets both ways. I'm gonna
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: take the home dog. I'm gonna take the Titans in
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: this game. I'm not convinced of the Jets of anything
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: right now with the Jets, so say that.
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: I have agendas.
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's it's obvious where he learns.
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: Oh yeah, screw the Jets.
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: Yeah. I think there's been a lot of focus on
- 1:43:45Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers, and I don't think that had really a
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: whole lot to do with it. Gave up four hundred
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: yards and all though all those rushing yards, that defense
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: is going to be embarrassed.
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: I think they blow doors off. I'll take the Jets
- 1:43:56Speaker 5: both ways.
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take the Jets as well. As much
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: as I hate to do that, guys aren't bold enough.
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: Sunday at one on Fox, it's the oh and one
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: Giants at the oh to one Commanders.
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: The Commanders by one and a half.
- 1:44:10Speaker 5: Who is watching this game?
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: Yikes, that's funny with they're both they're both own one right,
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: like they're both oh and one and But yet Washington
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: still feels okay because they got you know, they just
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: drafted their quarterback and things are just completely falling apart
- 1:44:24Speaker 3: for the Giants right now. Daniel Jones is just like
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: a laughing stock at the moment. It can change, but
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: I don't think it does this weekend. I'm gonna take
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: the Commandors and I'll lay the point and a half.
- 1:44:36Speaker 4: Oh, Alex takes Washington both ways.
- 1:44:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna take Washington both ways to to if
- 1:44:42Speaker 5: the Panthers are the worst team in the league, this
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: might be two and three right now, but I think
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: the Commanders are a little bit better than the Giants. Yeah.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: I think both of these teams stink, but I think
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: the Giants stunk a lot worse in Week one, and
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: I think that they will bounce back and they're gonna
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: win this game out right.
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: Yeah, all you took the words right out of my mouth.
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: Giants win this game despite everybody.
- 1:45:04Speaker 4: If they get blasted again, I shunned people Bryan Table.
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: Again, But I think they're gonna, at least for one
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: week turn it around. Now we skip over the Patriots
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: at one o'clock. But you know, these games seem pretty easy,
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: but not as easy to drink and easy to enjoy
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: as bud Light, which is the official beer sponsor of
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: the New England Patriots. And if you're looking to kick

- 1:46:11Speaker 2: I took the natural break between the one o'clock games
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: and the four and I did some reads seamless. Did
- 1:46:17Speaker 2: you like that?
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: I like it?
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: Yeah? Okay, all right? Now we move to the late
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: slate four oh five. The one Rams on Fox are
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: at the oh to one Cardinals.
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: The Rams by one.
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: Really, that's interesting.
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: This was a little bit of a that's interesting spread myself.
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm going to take the Rams. Then is
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: there to be on anybody in this one pole?
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: The Cardinals? I believe that is correct.
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: You know the NFC was, uh yeah, I'll take the Rams,
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: and you guys just don't believe anything that I saw
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: Los Angeles Rams.
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: Alex Alex takes the Cardinals.
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: That's like, I think the first like different one we've had.
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: I'm going to take the Rams. I just I think
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: Coler Murray's attitude stinks. Like they interviewed him the other
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: day and he's asked about getting Marvin Harrison Junior the
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: ball and he's like, it's not my job. You're literally
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: the quarterback. Dude, Like, what do you mean it's not
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: your job to get Marvin Harrison the ball. I think
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: he's in his own head. Yeah, I'm going Rams.
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: So I like the Rams a lot obviously, but they
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: really banged up for for a week two game. I'm
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: going to take the Rams both ways. But I think
- 1:47:30Speaker 4: that has something to do with the spread all the
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: guys they lost in that game the other night. The
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: line was in shambles.
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: Pa Puka. The Cooper Cup looked like vintage in that game.
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: But now I think you go into the game knowing
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: that that's all you have to worry about, as opposed
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: to Pooka is getting watching they were good.
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: I'm not saying that the Cardinals are going to win
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: the Super Bowl, but they're going to be in the
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: top five in the NFL in scoring this year.
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: I'll take that bet.
- 1:48:01Speaker 4: Okay, Uh, Cardinals return You're gonna return kicks for touchdowns
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: every week.
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: The Cardinals are gonna win this game. So there you go.
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: So let it be written.
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: And thus it was my job.
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: Shoot, I just lost my hold on hope.
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: Please Cincinnati, is that candas.
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: We have to do it in your lane, bro, stay
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: in your lame FO five CBS the one and oh
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: Steelers are at the oh to one Broncos Pittsburgh.
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: By two and a half.
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: This game, this game.
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: Bone Nicks throwing picks. That's good. I like that Bonicks
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: throwing picks. Sorry, spit there. Uh, I don't know, man,
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: this one's tough.
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna get here.
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Pittsburgh. I'll lay the points. Pittsburgh lay
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: the points.
- 1:48:56Speaker 5: Alex also takes Pittsburgh. I am going to take Pittsburgh
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: as well. That defense against Bonnicks is terrifying.
- 1:49:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: I think nothing of Pittsburgh overall, but for that reason.
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: I think they'll torture bo Nicks Pittsburgh both ways.
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: What was this number two and a half Broncos favorite? No? Oh,
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: steal his favorite. Yes, I'll take the Broncos home, by
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: the way, Paul correct.
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: Unlike week one when they were at Seattle. No, no, yes, yes.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: For twenty five CBS. The on one Bengals because of
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: the Patriots are at the one, and oh Chiefs because
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: of the Ravens.
- 1:49:36Speaker 5: Chiefs by five.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: Chiefs by five. Good game, But I just will it be.
- 1:49:43Speaker 3: I just don't know if Cincinnati can get back up
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: to speed. I mean, I just got concerns about Burrow
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: as wrists. They're asking about the water bottle thing. He's like,
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: what are you guys talking about? It's just some nonsense
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: going on there. And T Higgins that is that is
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: an uncertain I don't believe you practiced. It doesn't matter
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: because I already said last week with the I know
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: you like picked up a water bottle kind of funny.
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: Oh, yes, it's maybe two talking about a lot of stuff.
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: I have no idea.
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: I'm sticking to my role though, I'm picking Kansas City
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: and every game this year, probably I'm gonna take Kansas City.
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: I'll lay the point. Alex also takes the Chiefs. I'm
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: gonna take the Chiefs too. I'm worried about the vibes
- 1:50:19Speaker 5: with Cincinnati.
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: I just think I'm not worried about it. I'm happy
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: about it.
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true. I'm worried about those vibes. I'm worried
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: about Joe Burrow. I just something seems off about that
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: whole operation right now. So I'm taking the Chiefs both ways.
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50:32Speaker 4: I'm gonna do the same thing for the same reason.
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: I just didn't like anything that I saw from Cincinnati.
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: And uh, this is less about the Chiefs as it
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: is about the Bengals. I'll take the Chiefs both ways.
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh and two Bengals. I can't wait. Oh, they're
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: like my new Jets. I know. I really I'm more
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: excited about them losing than the Jets. I really am.
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: I can't. Oh, it's great, all right, So I'm taking
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: the Chiefs both ways. Minute, Fred, So, I need everyone
- 1:51:00Speaker 2: to take out their notepads for this next game eight
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: twenty on. Oh no, not this game, the next game.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: So A twenty on NBC and Universo it's the one
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: and O Bears at the one and O Texans.
- 1:51:12Speaker 4: Oh, we have to watch this game, Houston by six,
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: you know what, I'll actually but they got to play
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: both these teams, so I'll watch this game. But I'm
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: gonna sky.
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: You know, I thought I thought Houston looked good. Man
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: Tank de ELL's back, He's he's snifty. I mean, my
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: stupid idiot guy Stefan Diggs. He's a good player. Unfortunately,
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Houston all allay the points.
- 1:51:36Speaker 5: I was talking to my dad yesterday, is in a
- 1:51:38Speaker 5: Survivor pool this year, and I told him to take
- 1:51:41Speaker 5: Houston over Chicago. I almost told him to take I
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: told him to take Baltimore over the Raiders at first,
- 1:51:47Speaker 5: but he said he didn't want to use Baltimore this
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: early in the season, so we settled on Houston over
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: the Bears. So I'll stick with it. Houston both ways.
- 1:51:56Speaker 5: Alex takes Houston, but she took the points.
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: Oho like Caleb Williams.
- 1:52:00Speaker 5: Sorry, Alex, I skipped over you. I will I'm gonna
- 1:52:03Speaker 5: lay the points.
- 1:52:03Speaker 4: I think I think Caleb Williams would be fine, but
- 1:52:08Speaker 4: he was not fine in the first game. And against Houston,
- 1:52:11Speaker 4: you're gonna need to keep up. Tennessee allowed them to
- 1:52:14Speaker 4: sort of hang around despite the fact that they couldn't
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: move the ball. That they won't have that luxury the Texans.
- 1:52:19Speaker 4: I think we'll pull away.
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I think. CJ. Stroud says to Caleb, this is
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: what a young quarterback looks like.
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: Boom.
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Texans win that outright now. I need you to
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: take your notepads out. Eight fifteen. This game is on ESPN.
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: It's on ESPN two, It's on ESPN Deportes, and if
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: you're in the Atlanta or Philadelphia area, it's probably on
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: some other channels too. Sure, so a lot of places
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: covering this game. The oh to one Falcons are at
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: the one to ohero Eagles.
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: Biggles by six and a half.
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: She's my lines are way off this week. Yeah, I
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: just I don't.
- 1:52:56Speaker 5: I don't believe in.
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: You get your lines from Jimmy the Barbers on.
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: The streets to the spread, and I just I just
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: go to DraftKings.
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: Very ESPN's had the same lines as Paul.
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: So we go to draft.
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: Now, this one's Draftings.
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: You're listening.
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: Draft means they are presenting sponsor for the post game show.
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: So I think that we should at least draft.
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean show a little.
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: I know that every week you mocking my can I
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: can't go to you go to drafting?
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: Why don't you go to draft?
- 1:53:22Speaker 5: I can't.
- 1:53:22Speaker 3: I'm not allowed to. Fred I signed a contract that you're.
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: Not allowed probably it's not allowed to use it.
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: You can't even look at it, Paul, they don't even
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: go to anything.
- 1:53:30Speaker 4: I look at it every week. You can see every
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: Thursday morning I come to.
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: His grandfather going to say has different.
- 1:53:37Speaker 4: Rules, like this is not serious?
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: Right, No, you're not everything I do.
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: Every Thursday morning, I go on my laptop and I
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: literally google have week whatever it is NFL later slimees DraftKings.
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: I think draftings. We should be able to get it right.
- 1:53:58Speaker 5: Yes, you can go to you just can't.
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: Use the s your funeral.
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: You can take the reser, you just can't.
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: Otherwise you're just sorry.
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: We had to hurry on.
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: Spread.
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: Eagles fly, and I'm gonna lay the points against Atlanta.
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: I'm not a fan, not a fan. They didn't hire Bill?
- 1:54:21Speaker 4: What did you say? They did not?
- 1:54:26Speaker 5: Speaking of not hiring Bill, who they hire Moster Morris?
- 1:54:34Speaker 5: Of course? Whatever? He Morris. He came out and said
- 1:54:37Speaker 5: point blank that Kirk Cousins stunk last week out in
- 1:54:40Speaker 5: the media. It was like, some of these new coaches
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: need to learn a filter, you know what I'm saying. Uh,
- 1:54:45Speaker 5: I'm going to take the Eagles both ways. I did
- 1:54:48Speaker 5: not like what I saw from Atlanta last week either.
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: I would agree that I didn't like anything that I
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: saw from Atlanta, but I don't think they're that bad.
- 1:54:55Speaker 4: I will take the Eagles to win the game, but
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: I'm gonna take the points.
- 1:54:58Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna take both ways. All right. Now we
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: go back to Sunday at one, and this game is
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: on Fox. Uh the one to oh Seahawks are at
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: the one and oh.
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: Patriots Seahawks by three and a half.
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: Wow, Oh, thank you, thank you Draftking.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: So the Patriots get so they're really six and a
- 1:55:22Speaker 2: half pays.
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: Nobody believe that. Nobody believes in us Fred.
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: That you get three points at home and then you
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: get six. So there you go.
- 1:55:30Speaker 9: Uh.
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: I don't know. I think this is gonna be a
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: tight game, and I really feel like it's gonna be
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: one of those ones. How does an unfold? You know,
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: who gets the lead, who kind of gets off to
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: the good start and kind of establishes themselves first. They
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: the Kenneth Walker thing is a huge problem for them.
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: He's I mean, but I still think the other guy, Sharbonne,
- 1:55:48Speaker 3: is pretty good. But I'm gonna go with the Patriots
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: in this one. It might be a little bit more
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: of a heart pick than a head pick, but I
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: can't pick against my guys right now. I'll take the
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: Patriots twenty four to twenty.
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: So Alex also pick.
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: Alex also likes the Patriots, picking him last week.
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: Twenty one seventeen, Alex picks the Patriots.
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: Look at this check everybody.
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: So the tough thing to me about this picking this
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: game today is we don't know Kenneth Walker's status. If
- 1:56:21Speaker 5: Kenneth Walker was playing for Seattle, I would pick Seattle
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: rather comfortably. Since he is on the fence, I'm gonna
- 1:56:30Speaker 5: say twenty three to twenty Seattle in this game. I
- 1:56:33Speaker 5: just don't think the Patriots have quite enough offense. They
- 1:56:36Speaker 5: have a three headed monster over there in Seattle at
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: wide receiver. I just don't think the Patriots have quite
- 1:56:41Speaker 5: enough offense to keep up. But the Walker injury does
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: make it interesting, so.
- 1:56:48Speaker 4: I have not necessarily changed. I felt like the Patriots
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: this was their best chance for a win early in
- 1:56:54Speaker 4: the season. I'm going to stick with that. I think
- 1:56:57Speaker 4: that they will beat Seattle at home in their home opener.
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: I don't think it'll be easy, and I think what
- 1:57:04Speaker 4: Mike said is really important. Like the start of the game,
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: other Patriots able to dictate the way the game has
- 1:57:09Speaker 4: played the way they were last week. I think that
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: makes all the difference in the world. They throw when
- 1:57:13Speaker 4: they want to, not when they have to. Same thing
- 1:57:16Speaker 4: for Seattle. I think I think the teams are so
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: kind of similar the way they're set up and the
- 1:57:21Speaker 4: way they want to play. I think this is another
- 1:57:24Speaker 4: low scoring, field goal oriented game. I'm going to say
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: sixteen thirteen pats.
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: Paul, You and I are are very close there. I
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: say seventeen sixteen pats. So well, one point, I don't think.
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: I don't think Mike will be able to handle that.
- 1:57:39Speaker 2: I think I want Mike will.
- 1:57:40Speaker 3: Be I had heart palpitations last week, and I don't
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: think I'm gonna drink coffee this week because I will
- 1:57:45Speaker 3: have I will of course good that, thank you.
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I am not sleeping on Seattle. I just think
- 1:57:51Speaker 4: it's a good spot for the Patriots.
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: But that is something everybody forge Patriots. How one week changes?
- 1:58:00Speaker 4: I know, not everybody picked.
- 1:58:01Speaker 2: I said, everyone except Oh I'm sorry.
- 1:58:03Speaker 5: I have to see them for more than one and twenty.
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: On All Access. How did that go? What did Mike pick?
- 1:58:12Speaker 4: Mike and I both picked the Patriots too close, close games,
- 1:58:15Speaker 4: low school Steve Burton pick on that show. Burton has
- 1:58:18Speaker 4: never picked against them, so that doesn't count.
- 1:58:20Speaker 3: Never.
- 1:58:21Speaker 5: He chastised us last.
- 1:58:22Speaker 4: Week for not being on board. Afterwards, well before when
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: it happened, Yeah, and then and then he then he
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: took a bow this week.
- 1:58:29Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, sounds familiar.
- 1:58:32Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I think Seattle's pretty good, but I don't
- 1:58:35Speaker 4: think there as good as if.
- 1:58:36Speaker 2: This was Tuesday. I would have picked Seattle, I swear
- 1:58:38Speaker 2: to God. But the more I learned how close they are,
- 1:58:43Speaker 2: how they're made up, and then the injuries to their defense.
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: Only four starters that didn't practice yesterday.
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, that that swayed me.
- 1:58:50Speaker 5: That get I don't understand how they're similar. Like that's
- 1:58:54Speaker 5: the part that I'm not getting.
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: I think they want to run well they Seattle definitely
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: has better receivers, but they both want to run the ball.
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: They want to lean on defense, they want to be
- 1:59:02Speaker 4: physical when they want to throw in spots.
- 1:59:05Speaker 2: I don't think head coach.
- 1:59:07Speaker 4: Defensive mind, dude coaches, Well that's the way they've played
- 1:59:10Speaker 4: for a while. Now, that's the way they played in
- 1:59:12Speaker 4: the first game. Yeah, so I'm just going to assume.
- 1:59:14Speaker 5: Well, when you're Denver six guys in the box defensively,
- 1:59:18Speaker 5: then you're probably going to run the ball. I just
- 1:59:20Speaker 5: look at Seattle and I look at those three receivers
- 1:59:22Speaker 5: like I would take any one of those receivers as
- 1:59:24Speaker 5: the Patriots number one guy tomorrow.
- 1:59:27Speaker 4: I would agree with that. And so I just don't
- 1:59:29Speaker 4: I don't think Geno Smith is any good.
- 1:59:31Speaker 3: I think if it's a problem, it's going to be
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: the pass rush too. It's gonna you know, like those
- 1:59:34Speaker 3: guys can cover a little bit, but it's going to
- 1:59:36Speaker 3: be Geno Smith. You're not able, you know. And and
- 1:59:38Speaker 3: a couple of times he'll take opportunities to squirt out
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: and get it get some first downs, you know. I
- 1:59:42Speaker 3: just that that if it goes bad that I think
- 1:59:44Speaker 3: you're right, and it's going to be we couldn't get
- 1:59:46Speaker 3: to them.
- 1:59:46Speaker 4: I'm not telling you this is a lock or anything
- 1:59:48Speaker 4: like that. I mean, Evan might be right. I think
- 1:59:51Speaker 4: you could come out and they could just say, you
- 1:59:53Speaker 4: know what, We're going to spread them out with three
- 1:59:54Speaker 4: We're going to go three wides. We're going to throw
- 1:59:56Speaker 4: the ball all over the place, and before you know it,
- 1:59:58Speaker 4: it's fourteen to three in the middle of the secondar Gino. Yeah,
- 2:00:01Speaker 4: I mean I could see that kind of a thing happening.
- 2:00:03Speaker 4: I just I think it's probably going to be another tight,
- 2:00:06Speaker 4: low scoring, defensive minded game, and I like the Patriots
- 2:00:09Speaker 4: chances at home in that kind of a game.
- 2:00:10Speaker 5: I hope you guys are right.
- 2:00:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, assuming they don't make the mistakes of
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: last year and they keep it relatively clean, I like
- 2:00:18Speaker 2: their chances.
- 2:00:19Speaker 4: You know what, if Seattle doesn't make any mistakes, it's going.
- 2:00:22Speaker 2: To be a close game. Yeah.
- 2:00:25Speaker 4: I think Seattle doesn't make any mistakes. Evan's going to
- 2:00:27Speaker 4: be right.
- 2:00:27Speaker 5: I just worry about the fact that, to me, Zach
- 2:00:30Speaker 5: Taylor refused to run the ball in that game last
- 2:00:33Speaker 5: week when the Patriots were begging them to run the football.
- 2:00:37Speaker 5: And I don't think Seattle is going to have that
- 2:00:39Speaker 5: kind of issue. Like if the Patriots are going to
- 2:00:41Speaker 5: play a bunch of two deep zone. Seattle's going to
- 2:00:43Speaker 5: turn the ball, certainly.
- 2:00:43Speaker 2: Both teams are going to look at the other team
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: from the week before, and yeah, you know, but just
- 2:00:48Speaker 2: like us, how much does that tell you about the
- 2:00:50Speaker 2: team just one week? So I think there could be
- 2:00:52Speaker 2: surprises in store for both teams.
- 2:00:54Speaker 4: To Evan's point, the Bengals average four point four yards
- 2:00:58Speaker 4: to carry last week, same as the Patriots. They just
- 2:01:00Speaker 4: didn't run.
- 2:01:01Speaker 2: The ball right, all right, that's gonna be it for
