- 0:00The Bodhisattva vow represents an ideal of dedication and
- 0:04compassion by those who have reached the stage of
- 0:06enlightenment and who thereby have gained the freedom to
- 0:11choose liberation moksha from the cycle of birth and death.
- 0:17Those individuals who attain this state of consciousness make
- 0:20the conscious choice, if they accept the Bodhisattva vow for
- 0:24themselves to not enter into Nirvana until every other
- 0:29sentient being has crossed over the ocean of samsara, the
- 0:33illusion filled life of the external world.
- 0:37Those who choose to take up this work of dedication gain a
- 0:40tremendous power of direction into the future births they
- 0:44undertake. Their objective is not simply to
- 0:47gain experience on the way to enlightenment, but to devote
- 0:51themselves to the overall welfare of all beings through a
- 0:55process which we may call the texturing of consciousness, both
- 1:00within their own being and within the context of the
- 1:04situation in which they are active.
- 1:07They may choose the field in which they will work in the next
- 1:10lifetime, or they may totally leave it up to the divine
- 1:14intention. Either way, they then begin the
- 1:18process of dealing with the situation and circumstances
- 1:22within which they take birth. The development of the psychic
- 1:27being and the manifestation thereby of the divine intention
- 1:31is a process that involves dealing with the inconscient and
- 1:35semi conscient makeup of the material substance, the vital
- 1:39energies and the mental forces active in the world.
- 1:43The psychic being participates in the world and thereby sees
- 1:48the development limited to the extent that the birth it is
- 1:52taken is not sufficiently receptive or capable of holding
- 1:56its energy and expressing it clearly, directly and
- 2:01completely. The texturing of consciousness
- 2:04means that a fertile ground is being prepared for the growth of
- 2:09the soul's expression, the mother notes quote.
- 2:14Each time that the soul takes birth in a new body, it comes
- 2:18with the intention of having a new experience which will help
- 2:22it to develop and to perfect its personality.
- 2:25This is how the psychic being is formed from life to life and
- 2:29becomes a completely conscious and independent personality,
- 2:33which, since it has arrived at the summit of its development,
- 2:38is free to choose not only the time of its incarnation, but the
- 2:43place, the purpose and the work to be accomplished.
- 2:47Its descent into the physical body is necessarily a descent
- 2:51Into Darkness, ignorance, unconsciousness, and for a very
- 2:56long time it must labor simply to bring a little consciousness
- 3:01into the material substance of the body before it can make use
- 3:05of it for the experience it has come for.
- 3:09So if we cultivate the body by a clear sighted and rational
- 3:13method at the same time, we're helping the growth of the soul,
- 3:18its progress and enlightenment. End Quote reference Shrioro
