- 0:01Me everyone and welcome back to your favorite
- 0:04show the eye-opener society you have
- 0:07uh three hosts tonight you got myself gary you have me hannah and we have me
- 0:15britney and uh we welcome britney back as our co-host for these a couple episodes
- 0:20here for uh the end of august and we're We're so glad that you're joining us.
- 0:25Infity, like we said, these are just shorter conversational style podcasts that
- 0:30we are doing just because Hannah is going to be going on vacation while the rest of us suffer.
- 0:35So thanks, Hannah. It's well deserved for me. I have no sympathy.
- 0:40Well, I totally agree with that. Just everything that I see and everything that
- 0:46we're feeling. I wish I could go by myself.
- 0:47I hear you on that. Is that horrible? No. No, it's not horrible, actually.
- 0:52It's fine. I think that we all, at some point, deserve something like that.
- 0:59That's like me. When I go out to the woods, I like to go out to the woods alone.
- 1:02Yeah. And I just function out there. And it's so much better than dealing with
- 1:06everybody else and life and population and all that.
- 1:12And Brittany, I think you feel in the same way as well.
- 1:16Yeah. Well, I was actually going to ask Hannah if you're going by yourself or going with friends.
- 1:21I have a couple of fans going. and yeah it's a family vacation so you're almost
- 1:27going to need a vacation from the vacation when you get back yeah chasing my
- 1:31kid around Mexico is going to be such a great time for me.
- 1:36Oh my first time out of the country so is it his first time flying yeah it's
- 1:42his first time flying too okay i'm excited i really am like it's something cool
- 1:47you know to experience i didn't think i was ever probably going to experience
- 1:50anything like this in like the age that i'm at now,
- 1:55um but to just say that i'm really excited isn't is yeah you know um it's just
- 2:04i don't know you You know, kids are unpredictable, so we'll see how it goes.
- 2:09We'll see how much relaxing I actually get to do.
- 2:13I think that's another thing, too. When we're talking about this positivity
- 2:18and more focus on positivity,
- 2:20I really feel like we are not giving ourselves as people enough time for ourselves anymore.
- 2:30We just seem to be constantly doing the things we don't like rather than the things that we do like.
- 2:36You know, my biggest problem all the time is work. You know,
- 2:40work is just one of those things that get in the way all the time.
- 2:43And it's just there and you got to go through it and it blocks you. It really does.
- 2:49And I think it really harms the psyche.
- 2:52I think we do. We need the time alone
- 2:55and I think that's what we could talk about um definitely
- 2:59I am like you know I'm not saying like I don't want to
- 3:02not bring my kid to vacation I love doing things with
- 3:05my kid um I just think like the
- 3:09back of my mind just knows that my kid is
- 3:12an absolute tyrant of society so I'm
- 3:16like this is going to be a great time for me I'm probably going
- 3:19to come back with at least minimum four gray hairs um
- 3:22but i know he'll have a time of his life there's so
- 3:25much we're saying it like a family friendly kids resort like a
- 3:28family friendly resort so he'll have plenty of stuff to
- 3:31do and like i can do things with him i'm just like really just anxious about
- 3:36it i feel like so i'm kind of psyching it out but as far as alone time goes
- 3:40i feel that i definitely think people do need to take time from themselves because
- 3:45i feel like if you don't you kind of develop a dependency on other people.
- 3:49That's a good one. I totally believe in that too.
- 3:53Yeah. You're going to run into that situation where you are just stuck in that
- 3:57mindset where it's always about either work or it's always about other people's
- 4:02ideas, other people's ideas of fun and all, and you're not taking that time for yourself.
- 4:07So that I definitely can agree with.
- 4:10Brittany, and you're going through some stuff too, and I certainly feel that.
- 4:15But I think Brittany too, it's everybody right now. It's really almost the entire world.
- 4:21We've been having discussions about just the way people are and the way it's
- 4:26affecting each other because we're just not,
- 4:30projecting enough positivity. And I think that's probably what you're going through yourself.
- 4:35Yeah. I think it's, I'll make sure of a few things. And Hannah,
- 4:39I'm sure you can agree with this as moms.
- 4:43And especially me as a mom of a little boy who has his own challenges on a day to day basis.
- 4:50Sometimes I feel like I don't give myself enough grace and it's easier said
- 4:54than done to be like, it's okay.
- 4:56Tomorrow's a new day. Or that's just how today went.
- 5:00I don't know for me, there's some days where I just feel like I should be doing more.
- 5:06I should be doing better or things should be different.
- 5:10So with that and parenting, sometimes that's just a drag.
- 5:15So that's where it is important to have that alone time by yourself,
- 5:20especially when you're raising a child so that you're not pouring from an empty cup, essentially.
- 5:26But for me, I think it's hard because this month has been full of challenges,
- 5:34just work and personal life.
- 5:37And I always try to stay so positive.
- 5:40And I have a friend that nothing impacts them. They're always happy and positive.
- 5:45And they're like, I always try to find a solution or something good that can
- 5:50come out of what happened.
- 5:51And I just said to them the other day, what good came out of what happened with
- 5:58my son today? There's nothing positive.
- 6:00There was nothing that I could focus on. And.
- 6:04It is the reality. I try to stay positive, but then we have those outside influences as well.
- 6:14Everything that's been going on this month that sometimes just brings you down.
- 6:18And as much as you try to shut it out, it creeps its way back in.
- 6:21And I was telling you this, Gary, on Facebook, I find myself snoozing people
- 6:26or unfollowing ads or saying nacho again, in just so it's not bringing me down mentally.
- 6:35It's what is going on. We did discuss this.
- 6:39The world right now, like I said, we are in for a collapse.
- 6:44And the many times I've spoken about this, the collapse could be good because
- 6:51we're seeing a fall of all this negative.
- 6:54It's got to reach a plateau and it has to finally just give,
- 6:59you know, the ceiling, it's going to reach the ceiling.
- 7:01And then we're going to start seeing a lot more, much better things.
- 7:07Just like life, we need to go up and down these hills all the time.
- 7:11We hit these really highs and then we go really low.
- 7:14And sometimes we're on that downward spiral all the time.
- 7:18And we feel that I feel that now we're going through it historically right now
- 7:22with politics and social media and all where negativity can be spread so much.
- 7:28And I'm also including just driving.
- 7:30I can no longer drive a car. I just can't because people have become homicidal on the roads.
- 7:38So I'm seeing this and it's becoming greater.
- 7:42But do we focus on this? Is this what we allow to bring us down?
- 7:49Do we shut off the social media? Do we snooze people? Do we say, hey, that's it. Enough.
- 7:54And start thinking different to start getting ourselves back up that hill.
- 7:58What do you think, Hannah? With me, I think...
- 8:04It's easier said than done. For me, I, you know, I can talk,
- 8:10I could talk a big game up to myself.
- 8:12And I think that's what like makes me chuckle is that I can sit there and I
- 8:18can be like, I don't need this person. You know, I only need myself.
- 8:22Like, you gotta love me for me.
- 8:24Like, screw you. You don't like me the way I am.
- 8:28But then like, in the back of my head, I'm like, Oh my god, I need this person to need me.
- 8:34I need this person to love me because they will make me like love,
- 8:39like, you know what I mean? Like they help me love myself.
- 8:42So this goes back to, I had talked about this, you know, just having like the
- 8:47dependency on other people.
- 8:49And I've been working very hard on not doing that because I find myself,
- 8:56like you said, Brittany, you like hit like the,
- 9:00don't show me this again, or I don't want to see this because I find myself
- 9:03like, And I totally blame my FBI agent with this.
- 9:06But like I find myself getting like notifications on Instagram of like quotes being posted.
- 9:12And they like are quotes about like something that's like what I'm going through
- 9:17right now. And I'm just like, you know what? This is unacceptable.
- 9:20I cannot be seeing these because they are putting me down. The inside influences,
- 9:24they're just coming right back to me and it's not helping at all.
- 9:28So I really do my best to, I guess, filter out those things.
- 9:33Like you said, Brittany, as much as possible.
- 9:35But I also I have been practicing giving myself some grace.
- 9:39But and I've also realized that we can't be positive all the time.
- 9:45You know, we can sit there and say we need to live more of a positive life. And, you know.
- 9:51The world can be positive. Like, yes, it can be.
- 9:55However, we can't sit high all the time because then when a low happens,
- 10:01it's catastrophic for us.
- 10:03So I think for me, it's just kind of teaching my brain to realize that the lows
- 10:11are going to come, but the lows aren't lasting forever.
- 10:15The highs are going to come. You know, it's kind of like,
- 10:18you know necessarily like if
- 10:21you really think about it like riding in a boat you know
- 10:24the tide's gonna come strong or a big
- 10:27wave's gonna come but then it's gonna crash and the water gets flat again so
- 10:32i really just try to like really think of analogies when it comes to getting
- 10:36through my feelings because i know it can't rain forever and i'm on the opposite yeah end of you you,
- 10:45you're like, I don't want to say codependent on like with people.
- 10:50And I used to be like that so much.
- 10:54And years have kind of shut everybody out other than my son and just focus.
- 10:59And the other day when breakdown like for ventilating and crying in my car,
- 11:08I was like, I have nobody to call,
- 11:11and talk to right now like what I needed the most so it's like.
- 11:17See with me identified an issue yeah I don't I don't call anybody I don't I
- 11:23could I I don't I don't um I do it alone for the most part unless he's like
- 11:30you good and I'm like yeah I'm good.
- 11:33But I do it alone. I as much as I want someone, you know, to love me and be here for me.
- 11:43I think in the back of my head, I always feel like I'm going to be a bother or I'm being too much.
- 11:50So I don't call anybody. I just kind of get myself through it.
- 11:53And then like, I think as I'm having my emotional breakdown,
- 11:56like, who can I call? Who can I call? But I stop myself.
- 11:59There's like this weird like thing in my chest where it's like,
- 12:02if I even try to dial someone's number, I feel like I'm going to the drag and
- 12:06throw up. So I just don't.
- 12:08So I feel you on that. I'm with you.
- 12:10I definitely understand feeling like a burden. I always feel like sometimes when I'm having these.
- 12:18Like rollercoaster where we're on like i can tell sad at that point i want to reach out,
- 12:26out to somebody i also feel like and though like
- 12:29they don't want problems of their own so why do they
- 12:31want to listen to me complain about mine or just essentially
- 12:35invent about you know what happened yeah and
- 12:40i think with me too like when i do reach out to people or
- 12:43like i'm talking to somebody but like
- 12:46I'm not really like getting the response that I want I think
- 12:49it even makes me angrier because it's like I just want you to care about
- 12:52me and love me and match my energy and you don't so
- 12:54it just frustrates me even more so it's just
- 12:58it's been like a it's like a rocky like you said it's like a roller coaster
- 13:02because you're just like I just need you to tell me what I'm thinking in my
- 13:06head that I want you to tell me but then I sit back and I'm like holy shit I'm
- 13:12I'm waiting for someone else to tell me what's already in my head.
- 13:16How would I listen to my own damn head?
- 13:18So it's hard. It's easier said than done. Cause I still, I'm like,
- 13:22I just wish they would say that to me, you know? And I'm like,
- 13:24I'm literally saying it to myself. I need to stop.
- 13:28It's hard. You have to like break the cycle. Yeah. And I love talking to you, Carrie.
- 13:33Obviously I love talking to you because I stop by all the time to just talk
- 13:36about random things. But Hannah, there's things that you say that.
- 13:40That just make me realize like because when you
- 13:43said about somebody not giving you the reaction that they
- 13:46wanted that happened to me and I'm just like it made me even more mad and I
- 13:52was just like all right so you're like I want a Hallmark movie scene that's
- 13:57literally me I'm like I need that I need it but it doesn't I think it's just
- 14:03hard because you know I don't know if it's like
- 14:05femaleness or something, but like, we definitely,
- 14:08we, we, we want what we want.
- 14:10But the problem is, is that we don't stop and like go outside of our body for
- 14:14a little bit and be like, we're literally, we're literally have the answers in our head.
- 14:18We, we know what we want. Why don't we just give it to ourselves?
- 14:21Yeah. It's just, it's idiotic to me, to be honest. Like, I'm like, I am so pathetic.
- 14:29Brittany, let me remind you, you could have called us. I mean,
- 14:32never, ever a problem with that ever.
- 14:35Um, I feel I can give my all, especially listening to people,
- 14:40but sometimes that's only for certain people.
- 14:42Like if I get a good vibe from a person, those are the people I want to really,
- 14:46you know, surround myself with. And that's what we need to do.
- 14:48We need to surround ourselves with the people that are positive influences in our lives anyway. way.
- 14:54It's, you know, random people sometimes, if I'm getting a negative energy off
- 14:57of them, I'm not going to give them the time of day.
- 15:00And it's not because I'm mean, but I'm not going to expend my energy on somebody
- 15:04who I don't think is going to use that energy in a positive way.
- 15:09So that you have to think about too.
- 15:11And like the both of you too, I'm the same way. I cry alone when it does come
- 15:16down and I have my breakdowns. I don't reach out to anybody because,
- 15:20I always feel like I'm the one, like, you know, your mom, my wife,
- 15:24she has so much emotional energy and I'm always there to support her.
- 15:29And I got to carry that weight a lot.
- 15:31And that burden falls on me to the point where I collapse, but I have to collapse
- 15:37alone because I don't want that negative energy to get to my wife.
- 15:43I don't want her to feel that way. so yeah the
- 15:46way we deal with these it it's always
- 15:48on a personal level but we are we're
- 15:51dealing with energies and like me i use it wisely like your mom she she'll spend
- 15:57all that positive energy on everybody even those that don't deserve it and then
- 16:02that also that comes back to you bad as well um now britney we were talking
- 16:07about it like and we're going to set this up for sure.
- 16:10Because Brittany is always you know remote on
- 16:13our restream account restream.com by
- 16:16the way you know it's a great platform just a
- 16:20quick plug there but Brittany you know always she's
- 16:23not in the studio with us but you need
- 16:26to come out to the studio one day hanging out with
- 16:29all of us we got to pick a night because those
- 16:32things like that like there's new friendships to be made
- 16:35uh new things to learn about each other that's a
- 16:38lot of positive energy just like you and i when we sit at
- 16:41the patio and we have those great nights and real smoke if we
- 16:44invite somebody else in and we got that same type of energy together
- 16:47that's going to lift spirits that's going
- 16:51to make things on a positive note because we'll try
- 16:54very hard to keep things you know on that higher
- 16:57energy instead of focusing on that low it's going to be fun you know and that's
- 17:01what we need that's one one way to deal with all of this so we'll get that together
- 17:06as a matter of fact bring you just come on over now and let's just do it right
- 17:09like let's call from work tomorrow let's all just um yeah it was so funny like
- 17:14right before i came down here i was like i should really call for work tomorrow
- 17:17i just don't want to do it oh i thought about that tuesday wednesday thursday tomorrow i have a half.
- 17:25Day we have a due so i'm feeling
- 17:28guilty like i can't take time off and i'm
- 17:31just at the point where i'm like i need it for my mental health i'll regroup
- 17:34losing four hours at work is not the end of the world we'll start again on monday
- 17:41so make it that's my motto if you have it take it and take it right in the middle
- 17:47of a really big project yeah that's what i say you know I mean, just walk away.
- 17:51I mean, that does not seem like my problem. Yeah.
- 17:53I honestly, I think that way now only because I spent my entire life working.
- 17:58I started at 16 and here I am at 53.
- 18:02I don't know how you do it. Something like that. I don't even know how old I am.
- 18:06Don't ask me. And you've got a birthday coming up in August.
- 18:09Oh, by the way, Hannah's birthday is coming up August 12th.
- 18:14So reaperapparel.com. Great time to stick in this plug. Hell yeah. So reaperapparel.com.
- 18:20If you go there and if you use the code IOPENERSOCIETY10 and the percent sign,
- 18:26you get 10% off your total order.
- 18:28Now that helps us out. That helps out Reaper Apparel as well.
- 18:31Remember Reaper Apparel started during 2020 where the owner came over a great
- 18:36bout of depression and he decided, I'm going to make a change.
- 18:40I'm going to start doing things positive in my life.
- 18:43And he started Reaper Apparel and the big slogan dying to live. I love that.
- 18:48We love their apparel. Hannah loves their apparel. So if you're on Reaper Apparel
- 18:53and you don't see anything you want, Hannah is a size small,
- 18:56email us at theiopenersociety at gmail.com, and we'll tell you where to send it.
- 19:02So reaperapparel.com.
- 19:06Use the code iopenersociety10%.
- 19:09Brittany, you should go on there too and buy some stuff. That's where you're down at the club.
- 19:13Oh, yeah. I've already been looking around, actually. I want the sweatsuit in
- 19:18the worst way possible. Like I want the sweatpants and the sweatshirt.
- 19:21It's yeah, it just looks so cozy. I'm like, I would never take it off. I will never take it off.
- 19:28Yeah, that well, that's what I was thinking. Like fall is coming.
- 19:31So it might be a good time to invest in it. And then I have it for fall.
- 19:35Yes. Oh my gosh. Yes. I love them. They're so cute. I'm like leggings and like
- 19:41just a plain tee underneath.
- 19:43Fabulous. Oh, yeah. Recommend. I'm thinking, what do I want most?
- 19:47And then maybe order a few things and then I'll have them. And that's all you'll
- 19:51see me in all fall and winter.
- 19:54Yeah, same way. I wear it all the time. Look, Reaper apparel.
- 19:57Yeah, Reaper's the best.
- 19:59So with this episode, like I say, we wanted to do this conversational style.
- 20:06And it's great having Brittany here because it throws another voice in,
- 20:10different emotions, different feelings.
- 20:13And I'm really actually getting the vibe and I like it because we're going to
- 20:16sit and record another episode real quick too.
- 20:19And we'll be all set for August.
- 20:22But we're focusing on the positive. And when we feel these negative energies,
- 20:27when people are feeling down, you have support.
- 20:31Brittany, you have support from us.
- 20:33Anybody else, find your outlets, find who works for you, reach out to them.
- 20:40If you have to reach out to us, our email is theeyeopenersocietyatgmail.com.
- 20:46Talk to us. We can try and give advice best we can.
- 20:50We're only human beings without PhDs, and I don't think everybody needs those
- 20:54PhDs. We sometimes need real people to talk to with real feelings that go through
- 21:00the same thing every single day.
- 21:01And that's why I appreciate this conversation.
- 21:04I appreciate the fact that, yeah, we can sit down one day soon and have a.
- 21:10Night smoking cigars britney i don't even know do you smoke cigars um
- 21:13i haven't done in probably like 16 years so
- 21:16yeah at least you smoke them that's so cool
- 21:19yeah all right well we could definitely do that i want to end off this on a
- 21:25positive note and that's what i want to say i want everybody to reach out to
- 21:28the people that you admire the most the ones that you feel the most comfortable
- 21:31around sometimes you don't have that sometimes you only have yourself and there's
- 21:35There's nothing wrong with that.
- 21:36And I think I said on the last episode, I said, always remember,
- 21:39tell yourself, I am beautiful.
- 21:42That helps a lot. Or just stay positive. And yeah, you're not going to be positive all the time.
- 21:49It's not going to happen. Believe me. It's great. There are people like that.
- 21:53It's great. I don't like them.
- 21:56Like even when you're negative, the positives are still coming.
- 21:59The positives aren't non-existent. You just have to get through and feel through the negatives.
- 22:05There's going to be a future. We must live in the present. If that present isn't
- 22:09exactly positive, remember, the pendulum is going to swing right back soon.
- 22:13And we have to trust that.
- 22:16Life is literally yin and yang. Okay. It's literally yin and yang.
- 22:21So everybody stay positive. We're going to take a little moment here to breathe.
- 22:25And then we're going to be recording the next episode. And we will see you on the next episode.
- 22:30Again, everybody, I want to thank you all for listening. and
- 22:33don't forget we are on pod bean
- 22:36all right if you go to iopenersociety.podbean.com you find all of our shows
- 22:42also we're finding great people there and coming up soon in the next few months

- 23:07And I cannot wait to collaborate on this because two things,
- 23:12mental health and music.
- 23:15And those are very high up on her list. And we are going to be talking a lot about that.
- 23:19So that's T I K radio, check her out on pod bean, and we will see you on the
- 23:24next episode. See ya. Bye.
