- 0:00Speaker 1: Today's episode was filmed when I was down in the Australia.
- 0:05Speaker 1: And she's probably one of the biggest comedians in Australia.
- 0:10Speaker 1: She's well known for her viral clips online. She's hilarious.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Her Netflix show, Well Mania. And she's currently touring the U.S.
- 0:19Speaker 1: right now. Today's guest is Celeste Barber.
- 0:22Speaker 2: 11 minutes ago, my Australia, New Zealand tour went on sale.
- 0:58Speaker 1: No way.
- 0:58Speaker 3: So I'm just being a little bit obnoxious for 30 seconds.
- 1:01Speaker 1: You want to check the stats?
- 1:02Speaker 3: To make sure, no, that it has uploaded because Instagram
- 1:05Speaker 3: has become really needy. I don't know if you've noticed.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 3: When you post, you've got to keep the app open
- 1:12Speaker 3: for it to upload.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13Speaker 3: You can't just post and then walk away, Renee.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:16Speaker 3: And it does its thing. It's like, it's needy.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Let's make sure that it's up.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I'm just going to sit there with a video of
- 1:21Speaker 3: myself playing while I sit with you and talk about myself.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yeah. It's kind of the world we're in. It's like
- 1:28Speaker 1: you will see somebody editing a photo of themselves and
- 1:31Speaker 1: writing in their diary at the same time, you know? Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:35Speaker 1: It's really bizarre.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I always say that to people when they're about like
- 1:40Speaker 3: press and stuff. They're like, oh, you know, the press
- 1:42Speaker 3: are running shit on me. They're running shit on me.
- 1:44Speaker 3: And I'm like, I haven't seen it. You're in a
- 1:46Speaker 3: fucking vortex of yourself, right?
- 1:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 3: They're like, oh, no, it's everywhere. And I'm like, turn
- 1:50Speaker 3: Google Alerts off on yourself. Turn them off. You don't
- 1:54Speaker 3: need to get Google alerts about yourself every fucking 10 minutes.
- 1:57Speaker 1: You pull this in? Do you care if we start
- 1:59Speaker 1: or no?
- 2:00Speaker 3: No, I don't care at all. Sorry, I'm being rude.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I also have been in a hotel for four nights,
- 2:04Speaker 3: which buckles my voice, so I sound like a prepubescent teenager.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Why? Do you think the air in there is bad
- 2:10Speaker 1: or something?
- 2:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 1: The rooms are so expensive, maybe they put cheap air
- 2:13Speaker 1: in the room?
- 2:14Speaker 3: Well, yeah, and just I need natural air. But when,
- 2:17Speaker 3: you know, hotels are fancy, they don't.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Well, some of them are so expensive, dude. I've been
- 2:22Speaker 1: in one's. Where it's like, it's so, you're like, I'm
- 2:26Speaker 1: not even going to sleep. If I even blink my eyes,
- 2:29Speaker 1: it's going to cost me 30 bucks.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Oh, absolutely.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I stayed, yeah, I remember the first night I stayed
- 2:33Speaker 1: in like a really fancy place. I stayed up all night.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I was like, I'm not going to waste the money.
- 2:38Speaker 3: You're going to get paid to sleep. They're going to
- 2:40Speaker 3: charge you to go to sleep.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Well, I'm not, yeah, I came here to fucking use
- 2:43Speaker 1: this place, you know.
- 2:44Speaker 3: But also.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I even, I think I read one of the books
- 2:48Speaker 1: or something.
- 2:50Speaker 3: In the hotel.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I started reading like a couple of chapters. Just to
- 2:52Speaker 1: get your money, you know, it's like.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Your money's worth. Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 1: You want to get your money's worth. I left the
- 2:56Speaker 1: water going for a couple hours, I remember.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Do you travel with anything specifically?
- 3:02Speaker 1: No, just usually a little bit of hairspray, I guess.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah, just a bit.
- 3:06Speaker 1: What else do I like to have in my room? Water. Oh,
- 3:10Speaker 1: Powerade or Gatorade. A couple butterscotches. What else do you like?
- 3:17Speaker 3: Well, when I travel, like in a hotel, I have
- 3:19Speaker 3: to take my pillow. I've got to take my pillow
- 3:21Speaker 3: with me.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I've become that girl. But even with water now, I
- 3:26Speaker 3: love it. In the hotel I was just in, had
- 3:28Speaker 3: a couple of bottles of water and it said complimentary.
- 3:30Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, no shit. It's fucking water. Yeah. But
- 3:34Speaker 3: they're like just pointing out this bit, complimentary. Yeah. $ 5, 000
- 3:40Speaker 3: a fucking night to stay here. The least you can do.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Give me some complimentary water. Yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so true. And sometimes it'll say like $ 13 water.
- 3:50Speaker 1: They'll have like the complimentary ones, like the little ones.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Like a thimble of fucking water.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And the little ones sometimes are even like warmer somehow.
- 3:59Speaker 1: It's like they want it to seem like maybe it's
- 4:02Speaker 1: been already used once or something.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not that special. Someone else has run this
- 4:07Speaker 3: around their mouth, spat it back in, and now you
- 4:09Speaker 3: can have it for free.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Some lord has been using this.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Seinfeld walked past this door. Now you get to have
- 4:17Speaker 3: free water.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And then they'll have the larger cool bottle next to it.
- 4:22Speaker 1: It'll say like still water or deceased water.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Deceased water. And it's always in a sexy bottle. It's like, well,
- 4:28Speaker 3: I don't want that shitty water. I want the sexy water.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:31Speaker 3: And you have to remortgage your house to fucking pay
- 4:33Speaker 3: for it. Is this free water?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's free.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 4:40Speaker 1: That's free. We'll come in with a nicer one. On
- 4:42Speaker 1: a tray in a little bit How much would that
- 4:44Speaker 1: cost me? Dude, you know what's interesting about Celeste Barber?
- 4:49Speaker 1: Sure Nice to see you Wow, you drink kind of
- 4:53Speaker 1: like a Careful Sorry Beautiful, talented woman.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Thank you so much Also, happy International Women's Day Is
- 5:03Speaker 3: it today? What do you fucking mean? What do you mean?
- 5:08Speaker 3: I knew it was this year Yeah, once a year
- 5:11Speaker 3: we get it. We're allowed to be ladies once a year.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I'm so excited.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Yeah, are you celebrating?
- 5:18Speaker 3: Here, this is it. Oh, that's awesome. Educating you.
- 5:22Speaker 1: This is international?
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yes, it is.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm excited to learn about women and Australian women. Yeah,
- 5:27Speaker 1: because we've been here for a couple of weeks. One
- 5:29Speaker 1: thing that's interesting, you guys call it a toilet that
- 5:31Speaker 1: I think is really... What do you call it? It's
- 5:34Speaker 1: the bathroom, right?
- 5:35Speaker 3: Oh, yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Toilet is way more accurate, I was realizing, because nobody
- 5:40Speaker 1: bathes in there. You don't ever go in there. And
- 5:42Speaker 1: there's somebody like, you know. Yeah, right.
- 5:44Speaker 3: You mean like at a restaurant. Singing in the rain.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Gene Kelly's just sitting in there singing.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Yeah, right.
- 5:50Speaker 1: You walk in there and there's an Indian guy just like,
- 5:53Speaker 1: do you want some bubble bath, you know? So toilet
- 5:57Speaker 1: is way more accurate. I really appreciate that. I appreciate
- 6:00Speaker 1: the accuracy of things here.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Actually, that is, yeah, that's true. When I'm in the States,
- 6:04Speaker 3: I have been, you know, in a restaurant or whatever
- 6:06Speaker 3: and I'm like, Oh, whereabouts is your toilet? Or I say,
- 6:09Speaker 3: have you guys got a toilet? And they're like, yes. Like,
- 6:14Speaker 3: where is it? And they're like, oh, the restroom is
- 6:16Speaker 3: over there. Oh, right. They're like, why are you being
- 6:18Speaker 3: so specific?
- 6:19Speaker 1: But even restroom is, it's like. If you walked in
- 6:23Speaker 1: there and somebody was sleeping, just Goldilocks-ing in there under
- 6:27Speaker 1: the sinks or whatever, you would be so lost.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Just full of people with narcolepsy.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Like at the koala park? Yes.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Have you done the whole koala park thing?
- 6:37Speaker 1: We went there. A lot of them look, I want
- 6:41Speaker 1: to say, kind of semi-Korean, I want to say, a
- 6:43Speaker 1: little bit. They're beautiful animals. A lot of them are definitely...
- 6:50Speaker 1: unemployed it looked like if you go in the one
- 6:53Speaker 1: area where they're all just sleeping in the fucking branches
- 6:55Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Yeah did you touch one uh no i didn't touch
- 6:58Speaker 3: one where did you see them where did you go
- 7:00Speaker 3: and we went.
- 7:01Speaker 1: To um the brisbane um forest hills not a cemetery
- 7:09Speaker 1: what's it called uh Sanctuary.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Sanctuary. No, it's not a cemetery. Yeah, sanctuary. Yeah, right.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Way weird.
- 7:16Speaker 3: That would be fucking weird.
- 7:18Speaker 1: It's just a Ouija board and they're like, we promise
- 7:21Speaker 1: you're petting it.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and koalas are now endangered species in Australia after
- 7:25Speaker 3: the hideous bushfires we had. So when you said that,
- 7:28Speaker 3: I was like, oh, God, that's heartbreaking. They're my favorite animal.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Are you serious? I know that's really cliched, but a
- 7:36Speaker 3: few years ago I got to hold one. And it
- 7:39Speaker 3: was just, it was unbelievable. Her name was Lucy. And
- 7:42Speaker 3: I fucking fell in love with her. They're really heavy
- 7:45Speaker 3: and really dense. So they kind of cling. But then
- 7:48Speaker 3: they turn like really good. They can kind of turn.
- 7:52Speaker 3: They've got, they're really horny.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Oh, they're really? Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 3: When they're on heat, they were like chasing after my husband.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Like the Irish.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Yeah. And I'm like, bitch, back off.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Exactly like the Irish.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Oh, the Irish are the only humans that I feel
- 8:05Speaker 1: like get in a heat and they just can't handle it,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you know? You'll see them rubbing up against a damn
- 8:09Speaker 1: hydrant in the street.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Where have you been in Ireland?
- 8:11Speaker 1: Huh?
- 8:11Speaker 3: Where have you been?
- 8:12Speaker 1: Irish are everywhere. Yeah, they'll pop up anywhere. But on
- 8:15Speaker 1: the internet, they have a lot of videos of Irish
- 8:18Speaker 1: hydrant action or whatever. I have not seen a lot
- 8:22Speaker 1: of that. Now, at the park we went to, there
- 8:26Speaker 1: was an instance. There's a lot of kangaroos, right? And
- 8:29Speaker 1: a lot of them are, I don't want to say
- 8:32Speaker 1: opiates have hit the area or whatever, but there's a
- 8:34Speaker 1: lot of them that are resting a lot, right?
- 8:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Lounging.
- 8:38Speaker 3: But that's what you want. You don't want to be
- 8:40Speaker 3: near them when they're not chilled. They'll knock you the
- 8:43Speaker 3: fuck out. Like, they're incredible. So you want to be
- 8:45Speaker 3: around the ones that are chilled in the restroom.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah. And then there was one that got up.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I don't know if he wanted a midnight snack or what.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:56Speaker 1: He was, like, waiting to meet the dealer, it felt like. Like,
- 9:00Speaker 1: he was huge. He had a watch on, which I
- 9:03Speaker 1: thought was kind of crazy.
- 9:04Speaker 3: A couple of chains. Yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 1: He had a whoop bracelet on. Um, his tail had a, uh,
- 9:11Speaker 1: it was like diamond encrusted. Like he was like the
- 9:14Speaker 1: final boss. It felt like.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Just like called everyone bitch. It was that guy. I
- 9:17Speaker 3: know that guy.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Oh, he called me a at one point. I was like,
- 9:22Speaker 1: we'll bleep that out, but he did. Okay. Um, I
- 9:27Speaker 1: felt horrible. I was like, Jesus, is this, what does
- 9:30Speaker 1: he know about me that I don't know? You know?
- 9:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I don't have a wife, but come on guy. Um, Anyway, oh,
- 9:36Speaker 1: being in Australia and nice to be in your country.
- 9:40Speaker 3: What other words are weird? Restroom for you?
- 9:43Speaker 1: Restroom. The audiences are more nonchalant here.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Yeah, we kind of don't care.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. It's interesting. Like you'll come out on stage
- 9:52Speaker 1: and maybe a couple people get up, you know?
- 9:57Speaker 3: Yeah. It's so different in America.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Noticed that. When I'm over there on stage, it's the first,
- 10:03Speaker 3: I reckon, five, seven minutes. I'm like, calm the fuck down.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Like sit down and then I can talk to you.
- 10:10Speaker 3: It's just, it's bananas. But here in Australia, I walk
- 10:14Speaker 3: out and everyone's like, all right, bitch, prove it. What
- 10:15Speaker 3: do you got?
- 10:16Speaker 1: Oh, is that what they're thinking?
- 10:17Speaker 3: Yeah, we have this thing like a tall poppy syndrome
- 10:20Speaker 3: in Australia where you get too big, we'll cut you down.
- 10:24Speaker 3: We'll bring you back down to earth. Oh, like that Petraeus.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Like who was that runner, that guy who killed his wife?
- 10:31Speaker 1: Was that here?
- 10:32Speaker 3: No, that is not us. That is the story. Yeah, no.
- 10:35Speaker 3: He was fucking horrible. That was horrible, that whole thing. No,
- 10:38Speaker 3: he's not Australian. He's South African.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 10:42Speaker 3: I fucking hope if he's not. Don't run that because
- 10:45Speaker 3: that's shit if I say that that kind.
- 10:46Speaker 1: But he's South African? Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 1: They shot him the second he started getting fast.
- 10:52Speaker 3: You got to work for it here.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 10:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Yeah, we don't. Celebrity culture. Where are we at?
- 11:00Speaker 1: Oscar Pastore is granted parole after serving 10 years for
- 11:03Speaker 1: the murder of Reva Steenkamp.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Wow.
- 11:05Speaker 3: 10 years isn't fucking enough.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I agree. especially on International Women's Day.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Fucking hell.
- 11:15Speaker 1: South African Paralympics.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Which is just one day, remember, just today.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and I vote give them a couple days.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah, right. Even just like a day and a half. Like,
- 11:23Speaker 3: fuck off.
- 11:24Speaker 1: And they gave you, what is today, a Wednesday, Thursday?
- 11:27Speaker 3: It's Friday.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Oh, it is Friday.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 1: But give these bitches a Saturday.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I know.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Imagine if you gave us a Sunday. No, we need
- 11:36Speaker 3: small steps, guys, small steps.
- 11:37Speaker 1: The peace. Bring that back up. South African Paralympian Oscar
- 11:41Speaker 1: Prestorius has been granted parole effective January 5th, 2024 after
- 11:44Speaker 1: serving 10 years for the 2013 murder of his girlfriend,
- 11:48Speaker 1: Reva Steenkamp, known as the Blade Runner for his carbon
- 11:51Speaker 1: fiber prosthetic legs. He went from a public hero to
- 11:56Speaker 1: a convicted killer. Wow. That would be so crazy getting
- 12:00Speaker 1: out of jail.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Fucking hell.
- 12:02Speaker 1: That guy needs to go back in, huh?
- 12:03Speaker 3: 2013. I didn't know that was... Yeah, he needs to
- 12:06Speaker 3: absolutely go back in.
- 12:07Speaker 1: The parole hearing took place at the Adderidge Correctional Centre
- 12:10Speaker 1: near the capital, Pretoria, where Pistorius has served the majority
- 12:13Speaker 1: of his sentence.
- 12:15Speaker 3: And what's he doing now? Tell me he's not running again.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Is he just... He's trying to shut down International Women's Day,
- 12:20Speaker 3: that's for sure.
- 12:20Speaker 1: That's for damn sure he is, and I'm not going
- 12:22Speaker 1: to let him.
- 12:23Speaker 3: No.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Ms. Steenkamp's parents gave an interview to a British newspaper
- 12:26Speaker 1: in February for the 10th anniversary of their daughter's death
- 12:28Speaker 1: and said that they had not forgiven Pistorius.
- 12:30Speaker 3: No, me either.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Yeah, me neither. That guy seemed like he just was
- 12:34Speaker 1: … Gross.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Oh, go away.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Up to no good. No. God. Anyway, I really shouldn't
- 12:40Speaker 1: have talked about that.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Anyway. That's okay. Horny koalas.
- 12:44Speaker 1: You're going to the States, so you have a US tour.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I have a US tour.
- 12:48Speaker 1: What does that feel like? It's a lot going to
- 12:50Speaker 1: another country and touring.
- 12:51Speaker 3: It is a lot. I just find touring a lot.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I find the whole thing a lot.
- 12:55Speaker 1: It's a lot.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Yeah, but most of my audience is in the States,
- 12:58Speaker 3: so … And most of the money's in the States.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Is it?
- 13:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 3: So I go and do that. I go, my first
- 13:04Speaker 3: show is May 2nd for Netflix. It's a joke in LA.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Opening night of the festival on stage at the same
- 13:10Speaker 3: time as Seinfeld down the road. So I reckon six
- 13:14Speaker 3: people will be at my show.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I don't know. Seinfeld's getting older.
- 13:17Speaker 3: I'd go to Seinfeld.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 3: I'm funny.
- 13:19Speaker 1: What if you're at Seinfeld?
- 13:20Speaker 3: Sign up on stage.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Sorry. Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 3: A hundred meters down the road.
- 13:25Speaker 1: He's a legend. I think it just depends.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:27Speaker 1: There's just different, there's so many different audiences now.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 1: You know.
- 13:30Speaker 3: The internet, right? It makes everything so much bigger and smaller.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Do you feel like, cause a lot of your popularity
- 13:36Speaker 1: came off the internet, right? Like a lot of. uh,
- 13:39Speaker 1: same for me.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Like a lot of like, are people seeing me? Right.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Cause it's, it's just getting eyeballs to see you. So, um,
- 13:46Speaker 1: did you feel like you had to, like you had
- 13:48Speaker 1: to make that up when you get on the stage?
- 13:50Speaker 1: Because sometimes it's scary. I feel like if you get
- 13:53Speaker 1: the publicity before you are, you.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Got to back it up.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I absolutely felt that. I kind of, I,
- 14:01Speaker 3: it was really important to me that I bridged that
- 14:04Speaker 3: gap because the internet is, free right so you know
- 14:08Speaker 3: you've got millions of followers but it doesn't fucking cost
- 14:10Speaker 3: them anything so how many followers do you you know
- 14:13Speaker 3: how loyal are people people are I love you I
- 14:16Speaker 3: love you because you're free bitch and you're on my
- 14:18Speaker 3: in my hand when I'm on the toilet I'm good
- 14:20Speaker 3: but then I wanted to see how that translated and
- 14:23Speaker 3: it translated very well you know sold out shows but
- 14:26Speaker 3: I I really wanted to prove my stripes because I
- 14:29Speaker 3: trained as an actor. That was always my thing. But
- 14:31Speaker 3: I started the Instagram stuff because I couldn't get a
- 14:33Speaker 3: fucking job.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 3: So I did that and then, you know, it blew up.
- 14:38Speaker 3: And I didn't want to just, yeah, like I say,
- 14:41Speaker 3: just kind of be on stage and people be like, oh,
- 14:43Speaker 3: you're better here. So I wanted to make sure that
- 14:46Speaker 3: it translates well.
- 14:47Speaker 1: It's so funny you say that. There's something scary in
- 14:50Speaker 1: a way, I've thought about this, about people coming to
- 14:54Speaker 1: see you live. Mm-hmm. Because you're like, if they already
- 14:57Speaker 1: like me, then all I'm doing is risking them not
- 15:02Speaker 1: liking me.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 15:04Speaker 1: And it's fucking, there's something that's kind of like harrowing
- 15:07Speaker 1: about it. Like there's times where I'm like, gosh, I just,
- 15:12Speaker 1: if they already like me, maybe we're good.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Yeah, like what the fuck am I doing? Why am I, yeah,
- 15:17Speaker 3: it's like, well, they like me and now I'm going
- 15:20Speaker 3: to do a tour of To see if they really
- 15:23Speaker 3: like me. So that's fucking masochistic. Like, what is that?
- 15:25Speaker 3: It's like, prove it. Prove it that you like me.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 3: You know, because the parodies and stuff I do on
- 15:31Speaker 3: Instagram at first, people are like, are you just going
- 15:33Speaker 3: to kind of come on stage and then just like
- 15:35Speaker 3: change into different costumes? So I thought, you know, it's
- 15:39Speaker 3: that tricky thing of going, well, do I give an
- 15:42Speaker 3: already excellent, strong audience more of what I've already given
- 15:47Speaker 3: them and what it seems like they want? Or do
- 15:49Speaker 3: I give them what? I think would be a better show. So,
- 15:52Speaker 3: you know.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Like what the fuck do you do there?
- 15:55Speaker 1: I know, it's scary. Yeah.
- 15:57Speaker 3: And then you just keep fucking going out and doing it.
- 16:00Speaker 3: And again, you know, you sell a show, you sell
- 16:02Speaker 3: a tour, it goes really well and you're like, oh cool,
- 16:06Speaker 3: they do like me but it's not enough. So now
- 16:08Speaker 3: I'm doing another fucking tour and now I'm panicking about that.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Like what is that that we do? It's so masochistic.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Just stop. Just start selling water.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Make money that way. Stop making things hard for yourself, Celeste.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Stop making things hard for yourself. Yeah. I wonder, there's definitely,
- 16:27Speaker 1: I have this thing, like I want to make sure
- 16:29Speaker 1: that I get to see every, like I'll go to
- 16:31Speaker 1: all the more, like I'll try and go perform at
- 16:34Speaker 1: all the markets. Like some people will go to the
- 16:37Speaker 1: big city. I'll go to like, as like, I mean,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I can't, you can't go to like towns really, but
- 16:43Speaker 1: there's like fantasy in my head where I'm just on
- 16:45Speaker 1: a bus, like, and we just set up a tent
- 16:47Speaker 1: and And we do the show in a town. Just like,
- 16:49Speaker 1: I just want to get every, I want to, yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 1: I want to interact with everybody.
- 16:55Speaker 3: You want to reach everybody. But the weird thing is
- 16:57Speaker 3: we do on our phones. I know.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I guess it's so ridiculous. But I have, yeah, I
- 17:01Speaker 1: think I have this romantic version, this old school version,
- 17:04Speaker 1: you know?
- 17:04Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely.
- 17:06Speaker 1: That I romanticize sometimes.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Have you done a tour bus? Do you do tour buses?
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I've done a tour bus. Oh, we've tried everything.
- 17:12Speaker 1: We tried the motorcycle with the little thing on the
- 17:15Speaker 1: side of it.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Oh, fucking hell.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Oh, we tried that. And I was like sitting there
- 17:18Speaker 1: just holding a box of like t-shirts for merch. Yeah.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Some caps.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:22Speaker 1: We tried the camper van, like a family camper, you know,
- 17:26Speaker 1: that you rent. It's like $ 19 a day. And it's
- 17:28Speaker 1: basically just like a cage. Oh yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 3: And they don't go up hills. Yeah. You got to
- 17:32Speaker 3: jump out and kind of fucking push it up.
- 17:33Speaker 1: There's nothing in there. It's like an anytime fitness basically.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:37Speaker 1: It's like an anytime fitness on wheels. There's like two
- 17:40Speaker 1: kettlebells sitting there and then there's just some like fucking.
- 17:42Speaker 3: And Chevy Chase just sitting in the front.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And some dangerous man complaining that the water fountain's broken. Yeah.
- 17:49Speaker 1: You know?
- 17:50Speaker 3: How many people do you tour around with?
- 17:53Speaker 1: My tour manager, Tim, and then two comedians usually.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 1: So it's a pretty small group. But then if you
- 18:00Speaker 1: get a production, like if you start to go into
- 18:01Speaker 1: places where you have to bring production and then you
- 18:03Speaker 1: have to bring like, Then there's other people that come,
- 18:06Speaker 1: but they are more of like the production side maybe.
- 18:09Speaker 1: But it's pretty interesting. It's pretty interesting to see it
- 18:13Speaker 1: and learn.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:15Speaker 1: It's kind of scary, though, some of the responsibility. I
- 18:18Speaker 1: think just with touring, it's like once you're like, okay,
- 18:22Speaker 1: I'm really going to go do this.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm this guy now. Yeah.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah. And it's supposed to be fun. We did a
- 18:28Speaker 3: tour bus, 2018, massive fucking tour bus it had. 12
- 18:33Speaker 3: bunks in it.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Had a fucking massive bedroom out the back and it
- 18:37Speaker 3: was me and my best friend slash tour manager. And
- 18:39Speaker 3: it was like a Janet Jackson backup dancer fucking bus.
- 18:42Speaker 3: And we just ran amok on it. It was so fun.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah. And you went all across Australia?
- 18:47Speaker 3: No, all around America.
- 18:49Speaker 1: No.
- 18:49Speaker 3: We don't do tour buses here because it's too big.
- 18:52Speaker 3: The country's too big.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 3: No, we did it all through America. Fucking wicked. I
- 18:56Speaker 3: loved tour bus. Costs a packet though.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Yeah. It's expensive.
- 19:00Speaker 3: But it came out of a sold out world tour.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I was like, have I broken even? And my manager's like,
- 19:04Speaker 3: that fucking bus that you wanted. That bus, you idiot.
- 19:08Speaker 1: But otherwise you're like walking or you're on a donkey.
- 19:11Speaker 3: You're at donkeys, lots of donkeys. The last tour I did, 2022,
- 19:16Speaker 3: I did 80 shows in three months.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Wow.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Like a fucking idiot.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Oh.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Like a fucking idiot. And we were just playing. So
- 19:25Speaker 3: we were. just it would travel day was a show
- 19:28Speaker 3: day travel day like averaged about 16 hours in every place.
- 19:31Speaker 1: It's so hard it's shit yeah.
- 19:34Speaker 3: And you forget how much i need creature comforts like
- 19:38Speaker 3: get to a point where you're like why am i
- 19:40Speaker 3: still navigating how fucking doors work because you're in a
- 19:43Speaker 3: different place every time so some doors are pushed some
- 19:45Speaker 3: doors you run into. Like, it's so, so discompromising.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Well, you'd think the government would get their shit together.
- 19:51Speaker 1: And I don't want to say anything NATO or whoever
- 19:53Speaker 1: the group, you know, NAACP. I don't know who does it,
- 19:57Speaker 1: but whoever fucking make one door.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Right? How fucking hard is it?
- 20:04Speaker 1: Outlaw, some of those, like, some of those hinges are
- 20:08Speaker 1: kind of, I don't want to say... I don't know
- 20:11Speaker 1: what they are. They're just, they're bisexual, I think.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Okay.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I was going to say they're shit.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Okay. Well, I just mean some of them are willing
- 20:19Speaker 1: to do anything. Right.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Yeah. And they're also super shit. I know. On International
- 20:24Speaker 3: Women's Day, let's get some fucking women making doors.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I reckon.
- 20:27Speaker 3: And they'll swing when we need them to swing.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I like that.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:30Speaker 1: We need some fucking women's doors, huh? We need doors
- 20:35Speaker 1: for women only.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Women's fucking doors. It's about time.
- 20:40Speaker 1: In America, there's a lot of women that will say
- 20:43Speaker 1: that there's like a male glass ceiling on comedy and stuff.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Do you hear that here or no? Do you feel
- 20:48Speaker 1: like it's just?
- 20:49Speaker 3: Oh, a glass ceiling. Yeah, absolutely. Not a male.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Or just a glass ceiling, but nobody says that the
- 20:54Speaker 1: glass ceiling is made out of men. You know what
- 20:56Speaker 1: I'm saying?
- 20:56Speaker 3: No, we know that though. We know that because it's
- 20:59Speaker 3: been made by men. Good luck. Well done with that though.
- 21:02Speaker 3: All those glass ceilings are made by the same person.
- 21:05Speaker 3: They should get into the fucking doors.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Does it feel like that in the Australia comedy scene,
- 21:09Speaker 1: I guess? Because I don't know the scene that much.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I have some friends here who are comedians, but knowing
- 21:15Speaker 1: the scene is totally different, you know?
- 21:17Speaker 3: Yeah, look, I started as an actor. I've always been funny,
- 21:21Speaker 3: but I'm not like a comedian that's been gigging for
- 21:25Speaker 3: 25 years, you know what I mean, doing the 3 a.m.
- 21:27Speaker 3: slot and all that sort of stuff. So I kind
- 21:29Speaker 3: of came up before acting.
- 21:31Speaker 1: So it's kind of a different avenue.
- 21:32Speaker 3: And Australia's really different to the States. Like we don't
- 21:35Speaker 3: have comedy clubs on every corner. We have a handful
- 21:39Speaker 3: of clubs. We have like open mic nights at pubs
- 21:42Speaker 3: or bars, but it's nowhere near as big as it
- 21:46Speaker 3: is in the States. I did notice it when I
- 21:48Speaker 3: got to America. I went into a comedy club there.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And I walked into the dressing room a few years
- 21:56Speaker 3: ago and I was like, do you reckon we could
- 21:58Speaker 3: take that massive life-size photo of Bill Cosby down? Is
- 22:01Speaker 3: that cool? And they were like, yeah, we can. It's
- 22:04Speaker 3: kind of like drilled in and I fucking ripped it
- 22:08Speaker 3: off of all and shoved it behind the toilet.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Really?
- 22:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Haven't been asked back there. That's fine.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Some of them, they don't want you to see it.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Some of them, they're lost, I'll say. Yeah. They're obviously
- 22:19Speaker 1: into a different type of.
- 22:21Speaker 3: And I play theaters now, so it's fine.
- 22:23Speaker 1: And he's obviously a hypnotist.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Yeah. That's misunderstood, I think they say.
- 22:27Speaker 1: What if he just said, what if that had been
- 22:32Speaker 1: his defense in court? I'm just a really bad hypnotist.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Fucking hell.
- 22:38Speaker 1: So crazy.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Has he died?
- 22:41Speaker 1: I don't think– he just went back out on tour.
- 22:43Speaker 3: No, he didn't.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I think Nick Swartzen's touring with him.
- 22:45Speaker 3: On International Women's Day, he's just jumped back out on tour.
- 22:48Speaker 3: So what's just happened? Are you telling me that his
- 22:50Speaker 3: fucking tour went on sale the same day mine did?
- 22:53Speaker 1: What?
- 22:53Speaker 3: On International Women's Day. Fuck you, Cosby.
- 22:57Speaker 1: So people can go see it. So all your– just
- 23:00Speaker 1: your Australia and New Zealand tour went on.
- 23:02Speaker 3: But America's on sale. Yeah. So I'm in America May, June.
- 23:05Speaker 1: And you start with the Netflix festival.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Netflix festival and then– Phoenix and over to Washington and
- 23:11Speaker 3: then fuck around for a bit. It's tricky because I'm
- 23:15Speaker 3: based here. I've got a family here. I've got a
- 23:17Speaker 3: life here. So I'm trying, uh, this will be the
- 23:21Speaker 3: fourth time I've done a world tour and I'm still
- 23:24Speaker 3: trying to figure out the best way to do it.
- 23:27Speaker 3: I don't know. Like the last one I did, I
- 23:29Speaker 3: was saying, you know, I did a heap of shows
- 23:31Speaker 3: because I was like, just cram the fuckers in so
- 23:34Speaker 3: I can just go get it all done and then
- 23:36Speaker 3: get home. But that was too. It's like still six
- 23:39Speaker 3: or so weeks without seeing my kids. And I just
- 23:41Speaker 3: finished filming a show down here. I don't live in Sydney.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I live north. So I was away from them. They
- 23:48Speaker 3: had three days to build the show and then take
- 23:49Speaker 3: it on. So that was all bananas. So this time
- 23:52Speaker 3: I'm trying to do like a couple of weeks and
- 23:55Speaker 3: then we're going to have a week off. So the
- 23:57Speaker 3: family will come over. We'll hang out in Mexico and
- 24:00Speaker 3: then I'll go back out for like three weeks. But
- 24:02Speaker 3: it's just, it's hard to kind of navigate that.
- 24:05Speaker 1: It's hard.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Being like a mom and all that, but living on
- 24:08Speaker 3: the other side of the world is really, it's hard
- 24:11Speaker 3: because most of my audience is in America.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, my only child is my own depression usually.
- 24:17Speaker 1: And I've just, that's.
- 24:18Speaker 3: I've got her as well. Don't worry.
- 24:19Speaker 1: But it's like outside of that little motherfucker, I don't
- 24:23Speaker 1: have to, you know, everything's pretty like.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I can't even imagine with a family. And that cunt
- 24:28Speaker 3: goes with you everywhere as well. You can't even leave
- 24:30Speaker 3: her at home if you want to go out on
- 24:32Speaker 3: the road.
- 24:33Speaker 1: So how many children do you have?
- 24:34Speaker 3: I have two that came out of me, but I
- 24:36Speaker 3: also have two stepdaughters that I've had for 20 years.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Like in Cinderella, those stepdaughters?
- 24:41Speaker 3: I am Cinderella. Wow. Yeah, I'm Cinderella.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Of course.
- 24:45Speaker 3: I've had the girls since they were two and four.
- 24:47Speaker 3: They're now 21 and 23.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Okay, so they're not at the house like asking for
- 24:52Speaker 1: sandwiches and all.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Oh, fuck no. When the eldest, Kaya, turned 18, I
- 24:59Speaker 3: kicked the door in. Happy birthday.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I went, get out. What do you mean? I went,
- 25:04Speaker 3: consider yourself raised. Get the fuck out.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Out.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I love you. Out. And she was like, happy to. Like, yeah,
- 25:11Speaker 3: get out. I'm done.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I'm going to open this women's door for you.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Watch.
- 25:15Speaker 3: It goes both ways.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Look at that. Um, yeah. So, but now you have
- 25:21Speaker 1: new offspring. Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 3: I got two little dudes. I got a nine year
- 25:25Speaker 3: old who turns 10 on Monday and a 12 year old,
- 25:28Speaker 3: two boys.
- 25:29Speaker 1: And do they think it's interesting that you're this funny lady?
- 25:31Speaker 1: Like what is their concept of their mother as a comedian?
- 25:33Speaker 1: Do they have that? Do they have a concept of
- 25:35Speaker 1: it or?
- 25:36Speaker 3: I think they say, no, not, I think they see
- 25:39Speaker 3: it as my job. I will say though that my
- 25:43Speaker 3: 12 year old, my kids are really fucking funny too. Like,
- 25:49Speaker 3: I don't think anything's funny and I think they're fucking funny.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 25:52Speaker 3: It's really cool. So now that, you know, he's 12,
- 25:57Speaker 3: he's kind of getting it a bit more. Like I'll
- 26:00Speaker 3: say something to my husband and he'll overhear it and
- 26:02Speaker 3: he'll be like, oh, mom. I'm like, yeah, bitch, welcome.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Like I'm a massive deal. Get on board. It's great. Yeah.
- 26:09Speaker 3: So yeah, they kind of.
- 26:11Speaker 1: It must be cool if your kid starts entertaining you
- 26:15Speaker 1: kind of low key. That must be pretty freaking interesting
- 26:17Speaker 1: because then it's like, oh, I made that.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:21Speaker 3: But then when they're really annoying, I'm like, I fucking
- 26:23Speaker 3: did that too.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Like I say, you know, a lot of myself obviously
- 26:28Speaker 3: in them and I'm like, yeah, that's going to be
- 26:31Speaker 3: tricky for you, mate. I went through that. That's, that's
- 26:33Speaker 3: going to be hard for you. That awkward.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Yeah. That's crazy. Oh, growing up is so awkward. Like
- 26:39Speaker 1: you remember whenever you got breasts or whatever, like.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Always had them. I was born with them.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Were you really?
- 26:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I was a baby with tits. It feels like it.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Hold on. Some politician will fucking bid on you. Okay.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Wow, that's crazy. Yeah, and he's about to hit puberty,
- 26:55Speaker 3: my boy.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And what do you start to change the furniture around
- 26:59Speaker 1: the house or anything? Do you put up like a
- 27:01Speaker 1: scratching post?
- 27:02Speaker 4: I leave.
- 27:02Speaker 3: I come to Sydney for a month and I say
- 27:03Speaker 3: to my husband, fucking sucked in. Enjoy that. Or I
- 27:07Speaker 3: ask him a lot. I'm like, he's been in the
- 27:10Speaker 3: Is this a thing? And he's like, just chill. It's fine.
- 27:13Speaker 3: He's peeing. Yeah. He's actually peeing. I'm like, I don't
- 27:17Speaker 3: know if he is.
- 27:18Speaker 1: He's getting a really deep pee out. Yeah.
- 27:21Speaker 3: So walk past his bedroom.
- 27:23Speaker 1: You got to get him a scratching post or something
- 27:25Speaker 1: like one of those cat posts, you.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Know, like. Yeah, true.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I wish, yeah, a lot more parents should do stuff
- 27:31Speaker 1: like that or get some breasts that you nail onto
- 27:33Speaker 1: the wall or something.
- 27:34Speaker 3: But isn't that what boys do? Don't they just sort
- 27:37Speaker 3: it out themselves?
- 27:39Speaker 1: In some tribes, the brother will teach the younger brother
- 27:48Speaker 1: how to masturbate. So it doesn't seem like a shameful thing.
- 27:51Speaker 1: It seems like this is a way that things are
- 27:54Speaker 1: done in our culture. Yeah, right.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Are those tribes also in Ireland? I mean, look.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I'm not sure they could be.
- 28:04Speaker 3: I don't know if it's a taught thing. In all
- 28:06Speaker 3: my experience, you boys just figure it the fuck out.
- 28:09Speaker 1: But you don't, though. That's the problem. You just go
- 28:11Speaker 1: out into the woods or you go into like some corner.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Go out to the woods.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Or you hide in a hamper at a friend's house,
- 28:17Speaker 1: you know. In their mom's bathroom. Oh, 100%. We had
- 28:23Speaker 1: this one kid, bro. If you ever needed him, he
- 28:26Speaker 1: was in my one buddy had a hot mom. He
- 28:29Speaker 1: was in their hamper. All the time Oh my god
- 28:32Speaker 1: Crack it open He'd be in there Oh god You've
- 28:36Speaker 1: got a fucked up mate Just making organic beverages dude

- 31:34Speaker 1: speaking of comedy festivals, was going out of business. Did
- 31:37Speaker 1: you ever go with that?
- 31:38Speaker 3: I did Montreal a couple of times.
- 31:40Speaker 1: You did? Yeah.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I only heard that the other day.
- 31:44Speaker 1: 2024 Just for Laughs Comedy Festival cancelled. Company seeks creditor protection. Wow.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it keeps rolling. Is that just in Montreal?
- 31:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:55Speaker 3: We have one in Australia. We have in Sydney, JFL.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Has that been cancelled?
- 31:59Speaker 1: Good question. The Montreal company that operates the Just for
- 32:02Speaker 1: Laughs Comedy Festival has cancelled the 2024 edition of the event. Wow,
- 32:06Speaker 1: so 2024 Montreal is cancelled.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Which, when is, sorry, I'm learning things today. When is
- 32:12Speaker 3: it usually on? I should know. I've played it.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I believe it's in.
- 32:15Speaker 3: In like a few months, right? So that's late to cancel. Like,
- 32:19Speaker 3: is everyone, fuck that.
- 32:21Speaker 1: They must have just realised it's not going to work.
- 32:23Speaker 1: A formal process under Canada's ban. Has canceled the 2024
- 32:26Speaker 1: edition of the event after filing a notice of intention
- 32:29Speaker 1: to make a proposal to creditors. 75 people were laid
- 32:32Speaker 1: off Tuesday morning, according to a festival spokesperson who called
- 32:35Speaker 1: the company's financial situation unsustainable.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Yeah, festivals are tricky.
- 32:40Speaker 1: The company cited lost revenues during the two years of
- 32:43Speaker 1: the global pandemic and challenges facing the media industry, particularly
- 32:47Speaker 1: reduced budgets at networks and streaming platforms as reasons for restructuring. wow,
- 32:52Speaker 1: it's kind of wild when things like that start to
- 32:54Speaker 1: go away. But I think, like, things like Just for Laughs,
- 32:58Speaker 1: they're not as much of a launching pad for entertainment anymore,
- 33:03Speaker 1: for comedians.
- 33:04Speaker 3: And it's not a money-making vehicle. Like, I've always found
- 33:09Speaker 3: it quite weird. I don't really do festivals. Again, because,
- 33:12Speaker 3: you know, I didn't come up through stand-up. But that
- 33:15Speaker 3: idea of going, there's 300 shows on over four days.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yes, too much.
- 33:20Speaker 3: In two parts. two streets, two blocks, and each comedian's
- 33:26Speaker 3: got to try and push their own fucking show up
- 33:28Speaker 3: against that. Like I didn't, I always found it kind
- 33:30Speaker 3: of weird. And I know so many of my mates
- 33:35Speaker 3: do those festivals. They're like, it's fucking impossible to sell,
- 33:37Speaker 3: try and sell out even, you know, 300 seats. It's
- 33:41Speaker 3: impossible because my mates down the street, it's just, yeah,
- 33:45Speaker 3: it's really hard.
- 33:45Speaker 1: It's like every venue in the world is selling tickets
- 33:48Speaker 1: on the same night. It almost does seem kind of ridiculous.
- 33:50Speaker 1: It's like, what if all your major sports teams played
- 33:53Speaker 1: on the same night?
- 33:54Speaker 3: Exactly. Well, they'd never do that with sport.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:56Speaker 3: No. Not sacred sport. But with the arts and comedy.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Fucking hell. Figure it out, you weirdos. We don't give
- 34:02Speaker 3: a shit. Sport.
- 34:05Speaker 1: We went to a Sydney Swans game yesterday.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Good?
- 34:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:09Speaker 1: You like it? Yeah. It was cool.
- 34:10Speaker 3: AFL.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Yeah. AFL. It's like soccer and rugby kind of a
- 34:14Speaker 1: little bit. It's... Yeah.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Rugby union do you mean not rugby league i don't
- 34:22Speaker 3: know i couldn't tell what this it's kind of an
- 34:24Speaker 3: interesting sport you can't tell what sport it is it
- 34:27Speaker 3: seems like they're trying to play every sport at once
- 34:29Speaker 3: and they're incredible like i don't really follow afl but
- 34:34Speaker 3: when i do see it and you know talking to
- 34:36Speaker 3: people who love it this they're incredible fucking athletes they
- 34:40Speaker 3: just never stop just pinning it around and throwing and kicking.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Like it's not you run, you stop, you sit, you
- 34:47Speaker 3: go again. Like it's nonstop. It's amazing to watch.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it kind of has like a soccer aspect because
- 34:52Speaker 1: it keeps moving. Do your boys play sports or no?
- 34:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:56Speaker 3: My oldest boy loves rugby league, but I've pulled him– well,
- 35:00Speaker 3: he's not going to do it for a year. He
- 35:02Speaker 3: wants to, you know, get his shit together, so he
- 35:04Speaker 3: started doing rugby union instead. I fucking hate it.
- 35:07Speaker 1: What is rugby union? What's the difference?
- 35:10Speaker 3: Can someone else bring this up?
- 35:12Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Rugby league is, I don't know how to describe the
- 35:17Speaker 3: difference because if you watch it, it looks very similar.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Everyone listening who knows sports is going to be like,
- 35:23Speaker 3: this bitch trying to tell us about fucking union. Listen up, fellas.
- 35:27Speaker 3: This is how it is.
- 35:27Speaker 1: No, it's International Women's Day. You're good.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I know I'm bored because it's sport.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Well, there you go. Did you play sports when you
- 35:35Speaker 1: were growing up?
- 35:35Speaker 4: No.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Really?
- 35:36Speaker 4: I danced.
- 35:38Speaker 1: You did?
- 35:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:39Speaker 1: You were a trained dancer? Sure.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Not trained, but like as a kid, dance, you know,
- 35:45Speaker 3: every day of my life up until I was 16,
- 35:47Speaker 3: fucking loved it.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Oh, it's beautiful.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Well, my main goal in life was to be a
- 35:50Speaker 3: Janet Jackson backup dancer.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Oh.
- 35:52Speaker 3: I love her so much.
- 35:54Speaker 1: God, it's so beautiful. Yeah. I have never met her before.
- 35:58Speaker 1: I've had dreams where I've met Tito Jackson.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Oh, how'd that go? Yeah.
- 36:06Speaker 1: It was at like a recovery meeting, but I still
- 36:08Speaker 1: got to meet, I got introduced to him twice.
- 36:10Speaker 3: In these dreams?
- 36:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, right.
- 36:12Speaker 3: That's very specific.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:15Speaker 3: No, I'm obsessed with Janet. I saw her 1998 Velvet
- 36:19Speaker 3: Rope Tour in Brisbane.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Nuh-uh.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Changed my fucking life.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Where were you at?
- 36:23Speaker 3: Where was my seat? Like row Z, seat 87. Fuck yeah.
- 36:26Speaker 3: But I had a better seat in the fucking car park.
- 36:28Speaker 3: I didn't care. Changed my life.
- 36:29Speaker 1: And what were you wearing? Just your young breasts?
- 36:32Speaker 3: Yeah, just baby tits and jeans.
- 36:35Speaker 1: I don't know if we can say that.
- 36:37Speaker 3: We probably won't say that, I reckon. I'm happy to
- 36:41Speaker 3: stay for the edit if that helps. I'm available all
- 36:44Speaker 3: of a sudden. No, I'm obsessed with her, but even
- 36:48Speaker 3: more so her backup dancers.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's so much to be a backup dancer
- 36:52Speaker 1: because you're right there. You're right on the cusp of
- 36:55Speaker 1: the star. You're smelling their fucking breath. If they fart,
- 36:58Speaker 1: you're in it.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Absolutely, but you need to know your place. Yeah. So
- 37:05Speaker 3: you need to know that when Janet breaks off from
- 37:08Speaker 3: the group and does her thing, that's when you can
- 37:11Speaker 3: go and, you know, fucking go ham. But when she
- 37:13Speaker 3: comes back, you've got to make sure you fall in line.
- 37:15Speaker 3: I think a lot about Taylor Swift's backup dancers. I
- 37:19Speaker 3: think about them a lot. I went and saw her
- 37:21Speaker 3: a few weeks ago.
- 37:22Speaker 1: You did?
- 37:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And did you go alone?
- 37:24Speaker 3: No, I took my nine-year-old niece.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Beautiful.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm pretty amazing.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Do you think some women went alone?
- 37:32Speaker 3: No. No, I think people went in fucking cults together
- 37:40Speaker 3: to that.
- 37:41Speaker 1: With their cauldrons up.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Oh, fucking hell. No, I don't think there was anyone
- 37:46Speaker 3: there alone. And if they went alone, they didn't leave alone.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Like it was a lot. But I think about her
- 37:51Speaker 3: backup dancers because she's on tour at the moment, biggest
- 37:54Speaker 3: tour in history. And Beyonce is on tour, biggest tour
- 37:58Speaker 3: in history. And you just fucking know. that Taylor Swift
- 38:01Speaker 3: backup dancers also auditioned for that Beyonce tour. That's a,
- 38:05Speaker 3: that's tough. There's a lot of skipping around. They come
- 38:09Speaker 3: out on push bikes. They bring out pumpkins and do
- 38:12Speaker 3: like liturgical. It's a, it's, I was like.
- 38:14Speaker 1: You don't notice half the shit they do. Next thing
- 38:16Speaker 1: you know, one of them, yeah, just has like a, um,
- 38:19Speaker 1: they'll have a stuffed animal. They'll have a bassinet.
- 38:21Speaker 3: A hundred percent.
- 38:22Speaker 1: You know, one of them will have a drum. One
- 38:23Speaker 1: of them will be just, you know, landing their ass
- 38:26Speaker 1: on the other one or something. You just, And before
- 38:28Speaker 1: you know it, they have to keep it moving.
- 38:31Speaker 3: But I really noticed it. And I really noticed the
- 38:34Speaker 3: backup dancers when Taylor would dance with them. I'm like, oh,
- 38:38Speaker 3: I want to re-corry that.
- 38:40Speaker 1: And be right there.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Taylor's unbelievable. I'm obsessed with her. I think she's incredible.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Is she a dancer? No. Mate, she's not a dancer.
- 38:49Speaker 1: But she is a hype woman.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:51Speaker 3: And she dances in front of 100,000 people the way
- 38:53Speaker 3: that I used to dance in my bedroom alone when
- 38:55Speaker 3: I was nine. And I have fucking respect for that.
- 38:58Speaker 1: That's what I think it is. I think even when
- 39:00Speaker 1: you see her just like at other shows, you see
- 39:02Speaker 1: her dancing, you see her having a good time.
- 39:04Speaker 3: She's all teeth and elbows.
- 39:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 3: But you go, great. I love that for you.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Those backup dancers. You can tell they're like.
- 39:12Speaker 1: You think some of them are like, that could be me.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Do you think some of them have to leave the
- 39:16Speaker 1: tour because their ego gets too big?
- 39:17Speaker 3: That must happen. I reckon some of them have to
- 39:19Speaker 3: do a drop in dance class once a week just
- 39:21Speaker 3: to really hone their craft because they're not getting it
- 39:23Speaker 3: on stage. Yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 1: They have to dumb it down almost, huh?
- 39:27Speaker 3: Maybe, yeah. You got to be careful what you say
- 39:30Speaker 3: about Taylor because the Swifties will come for.
- 39:32Speaker 1: You and skin you alive. Really? Are they bad here?
- 39:34Speaker 3: I'm not worried for you. I'm fucking worried for me.
- 39:38Speaker 3: You talked about tits on a baby. You're already fucked.
- 39:40Speaker 3: I go for Taylor.
- 39:43Speaker 1: I don't think we should. Yeah.
- 39:44Speaker 3: No, that's good.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Look, I'm okay with a lot of surgeries. I don't
- 39:48Speaker 1: think that's one of them.
- 39:50Speaker 3: No, Taylor.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:52Speaker 3: I think she's great. I just don't.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Some of the stuff you see at the shows is
- 39:58Speaker 1: you will see a lot of people filming their child,
- 40:00Speaker 1: trying to get their child on to like, yeah, look, Taylor,
- 40:04Speaker 1: this is little Dino or whatever.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Phoebe.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. You know? Yeah. This is Chloe and she's your,
- 40:12Speaker 1: you know, biggest fan, biggest fan. And she's like eating
- 40:14Speaker 1: a bowl of fucking glitter or something.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Yeah. Tears and resentment. Three and a half hour concert.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Wow.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Fucking hell. That's a lot. Hmm. I went to the
- 40:25Speaker 3: bathroom at one point and I came back to my
- 40:28Speaker 3: niece and I said, oh, Taylor's, she got changed during
- 40:31Speaker 3: this song. And my niece went, no, it's a different song.
- 40:35Speaker 3: And I went, it's fucking not. It's all the same.
- 40:39Speaker 3: I thought it was the same song. She's like, no,
- 40:41Speaker 3: it's a completely different song.
- 40:42Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I was so high one time I went
- 40:45Speaker 1: to Green Day and the opening band performed and I
- 40:48Speaker 1: thought that was Green Day.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Who was the opening band? Dua Lipa or something?
- 40:52Speaker 1: Probably somebody, yeah. I think it was like Chingy or something.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Oh, wow. Did you leave after it? That was great.
- 40:58Speaker 1: I was on my way out.
- 40:59Speaker 3: That was great. There's heaps of cabs available, like an Uber.
- 41:02Speaker 3: This is awesome.
- 41:03Speaker 1: I was on my way out. What else is going on? Oh, yeah.
- 41:09Speaker 1: So one thing that people love about you, obviously so
- 41:11Speaker 1: much is just like, like bucking like the beauty trend
- 41:14Speaker 1: and like taking on beauty in like such a ridiculous way.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Is it like beauty kind of, or is it just like,
- 41:21Speaker 1: what is like the fulcrum of like what you feel
- 41:24Speaker 1: like you kind of like, like to pinpoint? Cause you
- 41:28Speaker 1: have so many videos of shit that's like, yeah, like
- 41:31Speaker 1: somebody in the rain drinking a soap, just like things.
- 41:34Speaker 1: It's like that normally they make it look all sexy
- 41:36Speaker 1: and erotic, you know? And you just kind of make
- 41:39Speaker 1: it look like real humans. Like, what if we all
- 41:41Speaker 1: did this?
- 41:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I think because.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Kind of like Taylor Swift's dancing.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Exactly the same. Taylor and I are the same. We're
- 41:46Speaker 3: exactly the same. But I can dance. I think just
- 41:51Speaker 3: that whole idea of unrealistic ideals of women being sold
- 41:59Speaker 3: as realistic.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Like before social media, you know, you get a magazine
- 42:05Speaker 3: or whatever you see in the media. Mm-hmm.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Magazine drawing or something.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Yeah you're like oh it's cindy crawford being fucking amazing
- 42:12Speaker 3: she's on a motorbike on in a bikini on an
- 42:15Speaker 3: empire state building drinking a pepsi you know what that
- 42:18Speaker 3: is it's an edited thing and that's what it's been
- 42:21Speaker 3: sold as then kind of social media came out and
- 42:24Speaker 3: similar ideas are being pushed but it's like this is
- 42:28Speaker 3: what i look like dropping the kids off at school
- 42:31Speaker 3: or like this is my morning routine and it's 4am
- 42:33Speaker 3: and she's in a bikini and she's doing yoga on
- 42:36Speaker 3: a beach, she's got a green juice and her kids are,
- 42:39Speaker 3: you know, gorgeous and just doing school drop-off. I'm like, bitch,
- 42:42Speaker 3: that's not what fucking school drop-off looks like.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 3: That idea of it being sold is, it just.
- 42:48Speaker 1: It's trash.
- 42:49Speaker 3: It's just, you know, it's fucking hard because then when
- 42:53Speaker 3: you get it on your phone, you already hate yourself
- 42:58Speaker 3: and it's 3 a.m. and you're breastfeeding your child who
- 43:00Speaker 3: won't fucking breastfeed but you have to breastfeed them because
- 43:02Speaker 3: if you don't breastfeed them, you're a shit mom. You
- 43:03Speaker 3: may as well give them a fucking meth pipe. Cause
- 43:05Speaker 3: that's something else we have to be doing.
- 43:06Speaker 1: And he's also 11. Right.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Which is a little crazy. Exactly. And he fucking hates you.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:13Speaker 3: And you're scrolling through your phone and then you see
- 43:14Speaker 3: these images and they get into that psyche. I was like,
- 43:17Speaker 3: that's bullshit.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah. It's like, why do I have to feel
- 43:20Speaker 1: bad suddenly?
- 43:20Speaker 3: I already feel bad, but at least I could put
- 43:22Speaker 3: the fucking magazine down or turn the fucking TV off.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:25Speaker 3: And then we get these in our hands and you
- 43:29Speaker 3: put that down, you'll fucking explode. And they just peppered.
- 43:34Speaker 3: And I was like, no, I call bullshit to that.
- 43:37Speaker 3: I call absolute bullshit to that. I still do.
- 43:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:39Speaker 1: And then here's the worst part is I think that
- 43:41Speaker 1: then your brain starts to feel bad or something. Then
- 43:43Speaker 1: you release some like thing in your breast milk and
- 43:46Speaker 1: now your kid fucking feels bad.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Your kid's all fucking pissed or whatever.
- 43:51Speaker 3: A hundred percent.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Some chick with no kids is fucking, you know, showing
- 43:56Speaker 1: her tits and you're a toaster oven or whatever, making breakfast.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. She's not making that breakfast. Um, but, I
- 44:04Speaker 3: also wanted to show the other. Like, I'm sure there
- 44:08Speaker 3: are people out there that do sail on a yacht
- 44:11Speaker 3: to drop their kids off to school in bikinis and
- 44:13Speaker 3: are incredible. But not everyone's like that.
- 44:16Speaker 1: No.
- 44:16Speaker 3: And that's not represented. It's not represented.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Kind of true, huh? Why do we get afraid, I think,
- 44:22Speaker 1: to share whatever is probably really real? I guess.
- 44:25Speaker 3: I think it's shifting, though.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:30Speaker 3: And I think maybe. because it's boring. It's not aspirational.
- 44:33Speaker 3: And we have to constantly, especially, you know, in the
- 44:38Speaker 3: public eye or in the media, got to be aspirational.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Someone asked me in an interview yesterday, well, what's next?
- 44:44Speaker 3: You know, you've got a world tour, you're doing this,
- 44:45Speaker 3: you're doing that. So I'm going to lie the fuck down.
- 44:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:48Speaker 3: That's what I want to do. I want to try
- 44:50Speaker 3: and figure out how to live one day without anxiety
- 44:55Speaker 3: and sleep for longer than four hours. Like that's a
- 44:57Speaker 3: goal of mine. It doesn't always have to be, I'm
- 45:01Speaker 3: going to do this, I'm going to do that, I'm
- 45:02Speaker 3: going to do this. And that's the stuff of social
- 45:05Speaker 3: media too.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Well, I think there's, it's definitely creates a world of like,
- 45:11Speaker 1: I have to do something else. Yeah.
- 45:13Speaker 3: What's next?
- 45:14Speaker 1: What's next?
- 45:14Speaker 3: Because people have seen it next, seen it next, seen
- 45:16Speaker 3: it now, even like in TV now with streamers consume
- 45:21Speaker 3: television on streaming services, the way we consume Tik TOK.
- 45:25Speaker 1: And this is one of the crazy things that happened.
- 45:27Speaker 1: You start to not even value, you don't even realize
- 45:29Speaker 1: how much production goes into television stuff. So people don't
- 45:34Speaker 1: even value it as much anymore. They value it as like,
- 45:36Speaker 1: if this doesn't get my attention pretty quick or I'm
- 45:38Speaker 1: not in, I move on. It's almost like you scroll
- 45:41Speaker 1: past it. And to think that that much production and
- 45:45Speaker 1: time and creativity and everything would go into a program.
- 45:51Speaker 1: and you would just scroll right past it. It's one
- 45:54Speaker 1: of the reasons I think why like even JFL are
- 45:57Speaker 1: saying that there's problems because there's just tightening budgets at
- 46:00Speaker 1: all those places because they can't figure out how to
- 46:04Speaker 1: make it where people are sticking around, you know?
- 46:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and people want everything for free. But that's, you know,
- 46:12Speaker 3: that's what the industry and, you know, society, social media,
- 46:16Speaker 3: all that sort of stuff is put out there. It's
- 46:17Speaker 3: like if you don't binge this show in two days,
- 46:20Speaker 3: You're a fucking idiot because we've got 40 other shows
- 46:23Speaker 3: that are coming up that everyone else is watching. So
- 46:26Speaker 3: you have to kind of keep up watching it. And
- 46:28Speaker 3: if you don't, well, then aren't you a loser? How
- 46:31Speaker 3: dare you watch one episode a day, fuckhead? That's the
- 46:35Speaker 3: whole thing. And then it totally.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Who cares if your children can't read this fucking second
- 46:41Speaker 1: episode of Griselda, you little bitch. Yeah.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Bridgerton 65 is coming out. You're not onto it yet.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:47Speaker 3: And that's, I think that really dilutes the quality of
- 46:50Speaker 3: what we see because Bridgerton, for example, you watch that.
- 46:55Speaker 3: It drops and you binge it in two days and
- 46:58Speaker 3: then everyone loves it. And they're like, you have to
- 47:02Speaker 3: make another one. So instead of going, all right, well,
- 47:04Speaker 3: let's go and develop some scripts. We'll get some writers out. Oh,
- 47:06Speaker 3: we're going to, you know, what draft do you usually
- 47:09Speaker 3: shoot on? Oh, 10th draft. Fuck that. Second draft, shooting draft.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Go, go. Elizabeth needs yellow fever or.
- 47:15Speaker 3: Whoever the characters are. And just absolutely dilute the quality
- 47:18Speaker 3: of it.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Put Bridgerton in a fucking coma and let's fucking keep
- 47:22Speaker 1: it moving.
- 47:23Speaker 3: Episode one, but episode two, fucking bring them out. Keep going.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Yeah. Things start to lose quality because we want things
- 47:29Speaker 1: so fast. Yeah.
- 47:32Speaker 3: It used to be, you know, it's always been a
- 47:34Speaker 3: tough industry and challenging. I kind of like that about it,
- 47:38Speaker 3: but it's fucking brutal now.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Like in what is the acting side?
- 47:43Speaker 3: Yeah, trying to get.
- 47:44Speaker 1: That seems impossible.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Trying to, like I had a show on Netflix that
- 47:47Speaker 3: went really well. It fucking killed.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Yeah, well made.
- 47:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it went really well and it didn't get renewed.
- 47:56Speaker 3: And they said because of numbers, but the numbers were
- 47:59Speaker 3: really good. You just have to keep up. And you
- 48:03Speaker 3: can only control that so much.
- 48:06Speaker 1: And a lot of these people making those choices have
- 48:08Speaker 1: no idea.
- 48:09Speaker 3: Or accountants.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Well, they have no idea what's cool. And that's also
- 48:17Speaker 1: one of the things that I do like about people
- 48:20Speaker 1: being able to make their own content and have their
- 48:24Speaker 1: own voice is because those people thought they knew everything.
- 48:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:28Speaker 1: And they don't know shit.
- 48:30Speaker 2: No.
- 48:30Speaker 1: And now their old festivals are falling apart. Their networks
- 48:35Speaker 1: are making shit that nobody's paying attention to. I think
- 48:41Speaker 1: it's part of the problem. I mean, I'm probably a
- 48:43Speaker 1: little jaded too. Similar thing happened to me. But it's
- 48:46Speaker 1: like they tried to get so woke. I don't know.
- 48:50Speaker 1: In the U.S., the Comedy Central got so woke and everything.
- 48:53Speaker 1: They put on people that weren't even fucking comedians making shows.
- 48:55Speaker 1: It was just like... And then now they'll, like, give–
- 48:59Speaker 1: they want to come and offer you, like, $ 500 to
- 49:02Speaker 1: come make a show with them. Yeah.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Like, get fucked.
- 49:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Yeah, with your special.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Absolutely fucked.
- 49:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they're like, we're going to give you 16 cents
- 49:09Speaker 3: for your special. I'm like, the one that I sold
- 49:11Speaker 3: out worldwide and made a fuck ton of money on,
- 49:14Speaker 3: you can't have that.
- 49:15Speaker 1: I know.
- 49:16Speaker 3: You can't have that.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Um yeah was that did that feel kind of scary
- 49:20Speaker 1: because i guess when you're an actor you getting a
- 49:22Speaker 1: show is such a huge thing huh.
- 49:23Speaker 3: It was awesome i fucking loved it it was so
- 49:26Speaker 3: fun to.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Watch it i haven't seen it i just saw that
- 49:28Speaker 1: you i know that you did it and that's all
- 49:30Speaker 1: i know.
- 49:30Speaker 3: I was executive producer on it as well which i fucking.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Loved really did you get one of those little chairs
- 49:34Speaker 1: with the black back.
- 49:35Speaker 3: On it no i didn't Fucking hell, I should have
- 49:38Speaker 3: got that. I got an ego though, a massive ego
- 49:42Speaker 3: from it. I just loved it. I was, you know,
- 49:44Speaker 3: it was a show that was built around me. It
- 49:47Speaker 3: was a, it's a, it was a dream situation. It
- 49:49Speaker 3: was a book that was then turned into a show
- 49:51Speaker 3: and they wanted to build it around me and had
- 49:55Speaker 3: awesome people on it and we made it and it
- 49:57Speaker 3: was fucking wicked. I loved it. I loved it. I
- 50:00Speaker 3: loved the story as well of being a woman, 41 now,
- 50:04Speaker 3: you know, on screen being big and loud and, flawed
- 50:07Speaker 3: and annoying and weird and exciting. And before we're talking
- 50:13Speaker 3: about audiences and people come up to me in the
- 50:16Speaker 3: street and just like, women, they're like, I fucking saw
- 50:18Speaker 3: myself in that character. We don't see that much, right?
- 50:22Speaker 3: And so I love that. So I really, really would
- 50:24Speaker 3: have loved to have extended that and given more to
- 50:28Speaker 3: that story and seen more in that character, as well
- 50:31Speaker 3: as being the lead in a fucking show for a
- 50:33Speaker 3: second season, an executive producer, like, I'm not hiding that.
- 50:37Speaker 3: I enjoyed that.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:38Speaker 3: So the whole experience was awesome.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Well, it sounds like it. I want to go back
- 50:43Speaker 1: and watch it. I like some Australian shows. I like
- 50:46Speaker 1: Bondi Rescue and I like, you know, Chris Lilley shows. Yeah.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Have you seen all of his stuff? Like from the beginning?
- 50:56Speaker 1: I think I've seen everything. The problem is, well, Netflix
- 50:59Speaker 1: took half of their, they used to have it up.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Have you seen Summer Heights High? Yeah. And have you
- 51:03Speaker 3: seen We Can Be Heroes?
- 51:04Speaker 1: Stop looking at my dick.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Yeah. Fuck you, miss. Sorry for saying fuck you, miss.
- 51:10Speaker 1: Mr. G. Mr. G. Oh, it's so good.
- 51:13Speaker 3: She's a naughty girl with a bad habit. A bad
- 51:17Speaker 3: habit for drugs. Ecstasy. Ecstasy. I fucking love him. Did
- 51:23Speaker 3: you see We Can Be Heroes? That was his first one.
- 51:28Speaker 3: no it's we have australian of the year in australia.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Yes and it's about i have seen it it's at
- 51:34Speaker 1: a it takes place at a school as well well
- 51:36Speaker 1: it's all.
- 51:36Speaker 3: Again different characters all over australia who are nominated to
- 51:39Speaker 3: be australian of the year yes and he plays all
- 51:41Speaker 3: of them it's worth watching i have to go back
- 51:43Speaker 3: and find it for sure it's.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Great yeah the only place i got on summer i
- 51:47Speaker 1: was on like youtube in like and it's somebody else
- 51:51Speaker 1: watching it on their television and then.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Are you serious?
- 51:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Where was it?
- 51:55Speaker 1: It's very Vietnamese.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Where was it? Was it on Netflix?
- 51:59Speaker 1: No, this was on YouTube. It used to be somewhere good.
- 52:01Speaker 1: But remember, they tried to cancel him here. That was
- 52:03Speaker 1: the dumbest shit ever. He's a fucking legend.
- 52:05Speaker 3: Chris is hilarious. Yeah, I don't know. I kind of
- 52:08Speaker 3: dropped off after Summer Heights High for no fucking reason.
- 52:12Speaker 3: I just, I didn't really see much of that stuff
- 52:16Speaker 3: after that.
- 52:16Speaker 1: It was so good.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Hang on. Yes, I did. What was it?
- 52:18Speaker 1: Year 12. And Nathan!
- 52:21Speaker 3: Nathan! No, those brothers. Fuck, that was funny. Nathan! Screaming
- 52:29Speaker 3: and he's next to him.
- 52:30Speaker 1: And what about when the other kid comes up that's
- 52:33Speaker 1: like a better dancer than him? It was so fucking crazy.
- 52:37Speaker 3: Mr. G, that character. Oh, and Jemay.
- 52:41Speaker 1: So good.
- 52:41Speaker 3: So good.
- 52:43Speaker 1: God, that was so good. It's just, that was like
- 52:46Speaker 1: the Seinfeld of Australia, I feel like, in a way. Yeah. Yeah.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Cause it's so on the nose and perfect. You're like,
- 52:53Speaker 1: could anything get more perfect than that? I got to
- 52:56Speaker 1: meet him once.
- 52:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Right. Yeah. I got to meet him once and I
- 52:59Speaker 1: was so, yeah, it was just, yeah.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Was it awesome meeting him? I've never met him.
- 53:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:04Speaker 1: It was awesome. He came on the podcast last time
- 53:06Speaker 1: I was in Australia. Right.
- 53:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:08Speaker 1: It was super. I came downstairs in the hotel and
- 53:10Speaker 1: he's just kind of standing off to the side, kind
- 53:12Speaker 1: of like, kind of has this like, Kind of like shyness,
- 53:18Speaker 1: I guess. Curious kind of guy.
- 53:20Speaker 3: I'm interested that he did your podcast because I don't
- 53:22Speaker 3: think he does much, does he? I don't think he
- 53:24Speaker 3: does a lot of stuff like that. I don't think
- 53:25Speaker 3: he does anything.
- 53:26Speaker 1: I felt super stoked about it. I'm going to try
- 53:29Speaker 1: to get to say hey to him before I leave town.
- 53:31Speaker 1: He said he's out of town right now. Yeah, right.
- 53:33Speaker 3: He's a funny guy.
- 53:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:35Speaker 3: Did you ever do like see Kath and Kim?
- 53:38Speaker 1: Kath and Kim?
- 53:39Speaker 3: Kath and Kim. It's another Australian show that's fucking brilliant.
- 53:42Speaker 3: It's about like suburban Australia.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Sean and Marley, I like. Have you seen them? No.
- 53:47Speaker 1: It's like Recipes and Down Syndrome, basically. It's like a little.
- 53:53Speaker 3: Is it Australian?
- 53:54Speaker 1: Yeah. That's good.
- 53:56Speaker 3: How did I know that?
- 53:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's quality form content. Good telly.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Good telly?
- 54:01Speaker 1: Sean is more of bit of bit. He can get
- 54:03Speaker 1: a little agitated sometimes if the vegetables aren't right.
- 54:07Speaker 3: Hang on, wait. Is this a TV or is it YouTube?
- 54:10Speaker 1: This is YouTube. It's really great. So Sean and Marley,
- 54:15Speaker 1: one of them has Down Syndrome, I believe. And I
- 54:19Speaker 1: believe they are, I don't know if they're Christian or not,
- 54:22Speaker 1: but they're Asian. Well, we can't watch it, but they're great, though,
- 54:27Speaker 1: if you get to see them. Yeah, we'll have them
- 54:28Speaker 1: for sure. Really wonderful. What else are you thinking about?
- 54:34Speaker 3: What else am I thinking about? My kid's got a
- 54:35Speaker 3: football game this afternoon.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Are you going to make it?
- 54:37Speaker 3: No, the second half.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Mom.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he said to me on the phone, he's like, Mom,
- 54:44Speaker 3: will you make it to the game? My nine-year-old. I went,
- 54:47Speaker 3: look at my phone. Flight gets in like 20 minutes
- 54:50Speaker 3: before you start.
- 54:51Speaker 1: That's okay.
- 54:52Speaker 3: You can just come to the second half. I was like,
- 54:53Speaker 3: you're the fucking best, man. That was nice of him.
- 54:57Speaker 3: He's fucking wicked.
- 54:58Speaker 1: Dude, my mom would sit out in the outfield in
- 55:01Speaker 1: the van and she would say, hit it or we're leaving.
- 55:05Speaker 1: And she would fucking lay on the horn.
- 55:06Speaker 3: What did you play?
- 55:07Speaker 1: Play baseball. Right.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Hit it or we're leaving.
- 55:10Speaker 1: And we would. Oh. Because she didn't want to wait
- 55:13Speaker 1: for the second time for the batters to go around.
- 55:15Speaker 3: She's got shit to do.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Because I didn't get to play much in the field.
- 55:17Speaker 1: I They would put me out there, but it was
- 55:19Speaker 1: like they didn't want me out there.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Did you like it?
- 55:23Speaker 1: I didn't like it.
- 55:25Speaker 3: What, being in the outfield or playing at all?
- 55:27Speaker 1: I just didn't like being out there, I guess.
- 55:29Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 55:29Speaker 1: There was things I didn't like about it, I guess.
- 55:31Speaker 1: I didn't like the heat out there.
- 55:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:33Speaker 1: You always feel like you're supposed to do yard work.
- 55:35Speaker 1: You feel like a farmer. You're out there with all
- 55:36Speaker 1: this land.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 55:37Speaker 1: And like left field. You don't have any seed. You
- 55:39Speaker 1: don't have any mules. You're like.
- 55:41Speaker 3: Fucking around.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:42Speaker 3: With your own thoughts. That's never good when you've got depression, man.
- 55:45Speaker 1: You're like, this farm sucks.
- 55:47Speaker 3: I'm just wondering where the nearest fucking bridge is. This
- 55:49Speaker 3: isn't good for me. And they're long games, right? Baseball.
- 55:53Speaker 4: Long.
- 55:54Speaker 1: Oh, so long. It's like cricket.
- 55:56Speaker 3: Fucking long.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Oh, cricket seems unbelievably ridiculous. It seems like they shouldn't
- 55:59Speaker 1: do it. That's what it seems like to Americans.
- 56:01Speaker 3: And it also seems like they don't really do it.
- 56:03Speaker 3: I'm like, you don't do fucking much.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:06Speaker 3: And then... All of a sudden something happens and everyone
- 56:10Speaker 3: shits themselves. Like, no, like four people of the 50,000
- 56:14Speaker 3: people that are fucking standing out there playing get excited
- 56:16Speaker 3: for 10 minutes and everyone goes home. Yeah. And it's
- 56:18Speaker 3: all across the news. What happened?
- 56:20Speaker 1: And it lasts for like three days too. Yeah.
- 56:22Speaker 3: Isn't there like a 10-day test or something? Yeah, it
- 56:25Speaker 3: goes forever.
- 56:26Speaker 1: That's crazy. There's like an Indian, it kind of reminds
- 56:27Speaker 1: me of the Indian wedding. A lot of Indian weddings
- 56:29Speaker 1: are like that.
- 56:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but they look fun.
- 56:31Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I think it's a lot more fun than
- 56:32Speaker 1: a game of cricket probably.
- 56:33Speaker 3: I think anything is a lot more fun. And a
- 56:37Speaker 3: game of fucking cricket.
- 56:38Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 56:39Speaker 3: I really do.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I've been wanting to say that, but I think I
- 56:41Speaker 1: always be afraid to say it because I'm like, oh,
- 56:43Speaker 1: people are going to get pissed.
- 56:44Speaker 3: Yeah, you probably can't say it. But you know what?
- 56:45Speaker 1: Fuck that, man. I'll say this. The shit looks fucking ridiculous.
- 56:50Speaker 1: The helmet looks absolutely insane. It looks unbelievably bad.
- 56:58Speaker 3: How do you feel about American football then? Because they
- 57:00Speaker 3: look like fucking idiots. I think I kind of agree
- 57:04Speaker 3: with you. There's this clip on YouTube of NFL players
- 57:10Speaker 3: watching rugby league games. And because it's fucking brutal league,
- 57:16Speaker 3: like they have some padding.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, rugby seems way more.
- 57:18Speaker 3: But they run at each other and they just, you know,
- 57:21Speaker 3: demolish each other. That's why I don't want my kids
- 57:23Speaker 3: doing it. But it's really funny footage of these massive
- 57:27Speaker 3: NFL players going, what the fuck? They can't believe it.
- 57:30Speaker 1: Really?
- 57:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:32Speaker 3: I mean, that's illegal. That's a spear tackle. 10 in
- 57:36Speaker 3: the bin. Oh, fuck. Oh, my God. It's so full on.
- 57:43Speaker 3: Look out, mate, behind you.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 57:46Speaker 3: It makes my penis hurt. Yeah, it should. Makes my
- 57:49Speaker 3: penis hurt. Fuck.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Good God.
- 57:52Speaker 3: And then he's got to get him. Oh, it's really brutal.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Yeah, when I see a lot of pain, I feel
- 57:58Speaker 1: it in my genitalia.
- 58:00Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Is that a weird thing you think that happens to people?
- 58:03Speaker 3: I think men just talking about their genitalia in general
- 58:05Speaker 3: is kind of weird.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Sorry about that.
- 58:09Speaker 3: That's okay.
- 58:12Speaker 1: A lot of you guys know we started off with
- 58:14Speaker 1: our first advertiser ever was Gray Block Pizza. Get that hitter, baby.
- 58:20Speaker 1: And the owner of Gray Block Pizza, my friend Thomas,
- 58:24Speaker 1: evolved his business up in Oregon to start Blue Cube Baths.
- 58:29Speaker 1: And he sent me one, and it's absolutely beautiful. A
- 58:33Speaker 1: wonderful cold plunge, the best cold plunge in the market.
- 58:36Speaker 1: If you value American-made and pinnacle cold exposure, this is
- 58:41Speaker 1: your cold plunge. Blue Cube Baths. What I love is
- 58:47Speaker 1: you can set that temperature, get it down to, I mean,
- 58:52Speaker 1: it might just, you might be able to ice skate
- 58:55Speaker 1: in there. I haven't put it that low, but you
- 58:57Speaker 1: can set it to a place where you feel comfortable.
- 58:59Speaker 1: I'll get in around 50 degrees for about 10 or
- 59:01Speaker 1: 12 minutes. And that's what really sets me and activates me.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I've done it before, podcast to really put me in, um,
- 59:09Speaker 1: just put me in my body and put me in
- 59:11Speaker 1: the moment. You know, the positive side effects of cold
- 59:15Speaker 1: plunging are, are countless. You can follow blue cubes, Instagram
- 59:20Speaker 1: for a chance to win your own cold plunge this
- 59:23Speaker 1: spring and summer. That's right. They're giving one away. They
- 59:27Speaker 1: will announce the giveaway soon. So follow them at Blue
- 59:31Speaker 1: Cube Baths. And we wish them the best of luck
- 59:36Speaker 1: and thank them for supporting the podcast so early on.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Is pornography causing a problem in your life? That's a
- 59:43Speaker 1: good question. It's a real question. It has in mind.
- 59:47Speaker 1: It has at certain periods in my life, watching porno
- 59:52Speaker 1: and everything and watching porno was making me, it was
- 59:56Speaker 1: ruining my life. It was ruining my life, man. It
- 59:59Speaker 1: made me feel just so much shame. That's what it did. Well,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: watching pornography has become commonplace today, and oftentimes men will
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: use porno to numb the pain of loneliness, boredom, anxiety,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: and depression. That's why I want to introduce you to
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: my friend, Stephen Walt. Steve is the founder of Valor Recovery.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: He is a dear friend of mine. He is a
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: dear friend of mine. And Valor Recovery is a program
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: to help men overcome porn abuse and sexual compulsivity. That's right.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Their coaches are in long-term recovery, and they will be
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: your partner, mentor, and spiritual guide to transcend problematic behaviors.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: There is zero commitment if you reach out to them.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: It's just the first step in trying to figure out
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: if you may need some help, if you can get
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: some help. To learn more about Valor Recovery, please visit
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: them at valorrecoverycoaching.com or email them at admin at valorrecoverycoaching.com.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: The links will be on the YouTube. And again, there's
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: no commitment when you reach out to them. But I
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: promise you, only something positive will come from you reaching
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: out and figuring out what type of help, if any,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: could benefit you. Thank you. Yeah, how weird is it,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: I guess, if your child's going through puberty, you got to, like,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: you got to fuck. Do you have to sit down
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: with them? What do parents do? Like, do you ever
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: talk with your husband about how to do that?
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: Yeah, it goes like this. Fucking talk to him.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: No.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: That's how I do it.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: I try and talk to him. We got an email
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: from his school saying, just so you know, this term
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: we're doing, like sex ed, we're going to be talking about.
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: And I said to my son, sucked in. You're going
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: to get it at school. We do, we try and
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: talk to, but they know. Fucking hell, kids know shit.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: Yeah, they know, but I think sex ed is when
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: it gets really weird because then it's like somebody is
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: talking about it and everybody's in the same room at
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: the same time. And they had a doll. I remember
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: they passed around like a doll in our class, which
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: was crazy. I'm like, people are like abusing this doll
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: kind of like, and there was a male doll and
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: a female doll. Like I'm just, But I think it's
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: because you remember that energy? Did you have to go
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: to sex ed?
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: I don't remember it at all.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: What? Yeah.
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: I don't remember. Maybe I wasn't at school when it
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: was happening. We have this thing in Australia called Healthy Harold.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: And this fucking van comes around to each school. And
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Harold is the character. He's a giraffe. And you go
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: into the Healthy Harold van and they have like figurines
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: and it's like this is what a uterus looks like
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: or like this is what like skin or, you know,
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: like eyes.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: It's like a little petting zoo.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: See, but then I remember Healthy Harold comes. It's a lot.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: And then Healthy Harold comes back and then they talk
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: about sex ed and I didn't, maybe I didn't go.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: Isn't that weird? I don't remember the.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: Whole, you know.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Healthy Harold.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: Condom on a banana thing. I don't remember any of that.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Maybe I just skipped it.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Well, that's pretty interesting that they use a giraffe to
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: do it and he comes around.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: And my poppy's name was Harold as well. So I
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: was like, I'm fucking good not learning about this in
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: a weird dark van.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Well, yeah, getting into a van, I think, but that
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: happens to a lot of people who've gotten into a van.
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: And learned a lot of shit. Learned a lot of
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: shit in a van.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Actually, it's not a bad idea. Almost like an ice
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: cream truck that just goes around with facts about sex.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you just need to get parents to sign off
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: on it.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: You're laughing. Yeah, we do try to talk to my
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: boy a bit about it.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the thing I would wonder. And what's the
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: school saying? Like, beware?
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: Like, it's puberty month or whatever?
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: It's not. They're like, you think it's International Women's Day.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: It's not. It's we're teaching your kid about shit.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: I know. So it was just kind of letting us
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: know that they're going to be talking about a menstrual cycle.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: No.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: I'm full on at home with that with my boys.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: I'm in a house full of dicks. So I'm like,
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: I talk about that a lot. I'm like, I've got
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: my period. Getting my period. Everyone look alive. And like everyone,
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: gird your loins because, yeah, I'm firing some fucking warning shots.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: It's not looking good for any of you guys for
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: a while.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: But now my nine-year-old will be like, mom, did you
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: want something to eat? If I'm like, I've got my period.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: Do you want something?
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: I got good kids.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Raising good boys.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: That's beautiful. Yeah.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: That's sweet.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: That's nice.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: I also have heard my husband walk into the kitchen
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: and say to my boys, boys, it's fucking back off.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Get out of here.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: I can hear him whispering. They're like, get out of here.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: She's not, it's not good.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Take it easy today, guys.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah. And will you guys have any more children,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: you think? No.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: No.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Oh, so less.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: No, I've got a hundred. I'm good. I do have
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: moments though when I'm really busy with work and I'm like,
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: maybe if I just have a baby, I don't have
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: to do any of this.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: And just stop and just have a baby because that's easy.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: People have babies all the time, I think, just so
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: they can get out of work or something or not
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: have to do something.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: Men do that. Women don't do that.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: You think?
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a men thing. That's not a woman thing.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: So men are like, oh, I'll have this baby and
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: then it'll make.
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: Let's have a kid. It's just easier. And the woman's like, yeah, sure.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Then she does it. She's like, I fucking hate you, man.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: I hate everything about you.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Men will do that, huh?
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Fuck, dude. We're sick. We're sick, man.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: I do think about that though sometimes. And my youngest
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: really wants me to have another baby because he wants
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: to be a big brother.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: But I'm hoping my stepdaughters will hurry up and get pregnant.
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: I'm like, That will work for me.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Yeah. As long as somebody kind of fulfills that space
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: a little bit, I think that's super important.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: What else was saying? Oh, there was a bunch of
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: beauty tips I was going to ask you because so
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: many things you went through like with about like beauty
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: and different things we're talking about, like a lot of
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: your videos. Do you have a.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: That's not me.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: This is not, you know, but go on, bring that
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: back up though. What is some of these? I just
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: wanted to think, what do you think about some of
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: these new ones that people are doing?
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: Nose blush. What, you just make your nose pink?
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's sweeping bright blush across your face,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: onto your nose.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: Highlight, I don't, who wants to highlight the bridge of
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: their nose?
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: I think it started probably with COVID or something, probably
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: because people were sick anyway. So I think people were like,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: I might as well fucking look really bad.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, snail skin, fuck off. That's not a thing.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Snail skincare, yeah, this is where, I guess, yeah, people
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: are putting snails, and this must be a cook. This
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: is Asian thing. Yeah, popularizing Korea spread across Asia. The
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: texture of the snail slime on your face is already
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: giving us the heebie-jeebies. Actually, a snail on your face
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: would feel fucking wild, huh?
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I could feel that in a very specific part
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: of my spine. That's weird. It would be the actual,
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: for me, the slow movement of the snail. I'm just
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: not interested. I'm happy. I would rather look like a
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: hat full of assholes than fucking sit through that. I'm
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: not doing that.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: And it's not even a movement. It's just a casual.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Like.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: Never ending.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, almost seems kind of nice. I think it
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: depends on where you put it at.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Yeah. That was quite nice.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Like, I don't know if it's soothing or not, though.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: You know what my friend Caleb told me? He told
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: me that there's a neatest thing I've ever heard. That
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: you can look at anything and know what it will
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: feel like on your tongue. Because when you were a baby,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: you put everything in your mouth. What?
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: I can look at anything.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: Like you can look at anything, like material or anything,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: and you can know what it would feel like on
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: your tongue.
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: Yeah, right. That's kind of cool.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: It's crazy. You can look at anything. But he said
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: it's because you tried everything when you were a child.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: But it doesn't kind of check out because like when
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: I look at those lights. I know how it feels
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: on my tongue, but that's not because I shove lights
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: in my face as a baby.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Maybe not. But do you shove certain fat? It's just like,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: did we taste every fat? You know what I'm saying?
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Did we taste every surface without even, you know? Yeah.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: Sand, all that shit.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: Cause it's weird. You can, once I started thinking about it, you're.
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: Kind of freaking out a little bit, like looking around.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Like how does our tongue know everything?
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: And I think sometimes I said this to my kids
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: the other day, sometimes when I've got so much on
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: and cause I've, got ADHD as well, when I'm really overwhelmed,
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: I can feel the front part of my brain. I
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: can actually feel it. it. And when I think about that,
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: I'm like, what other parts of me, if I think
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: hard enough about them, can I feel that you don't
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: usually think about? Do you know what I mean? Like
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: the same with if I had a drink of water
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: or something free and then someone tried to talk to
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: me and I had to answer them and I couldn't
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: swallow and I was like, going, oh, hang on. And
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: then I went, I forgot how to fucking swallow all
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: of a sudden because, don't say that, because you don't
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: have to think about swallowing, right? It just happens. So
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: when you do think about it, you forget how to
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: do it. I'm boring myself, but sometimes I can feel
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: the front part of my brain when I'm overthinking. And
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: I feel it's the same thing about that tongue thing.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: I don't usually think that I can feel my tongue
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: until I think about it.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: We're going to put this part on the car map
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: to put people to sleep.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Yeah, welcome to Calm App. We would make a.
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Good Calm App episode. I'm so fucking sick of myself.
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: Jesus Christ.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Welcome to Calm App.
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: Celeste is going to tell you about the front part
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: of her fucking brain to put you to sleep.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: You're in a beautiful open field. What's that, a bird?
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: What does that feel like on your tongue?
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Calm down. Dude, if we made a Calm App episode,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: that'd be so fire.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: It'd be so good, wouldn't it?
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: It would be so... Harry Styles is on it.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: He's on there doing call map shit?
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's fucking great because he reads you like
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: a story. And at the beginning of it, he's like, hello,
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: it's Harry Styles here. I'm going to read you a story.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: And I'm like, fuck, all right, Harry, why don't you
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: read me a little story? It's really nice.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be good. I'm trying to think of
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: some good ones I would like to hear, maybe from
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Randy Quaid, maybe.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: LeBron does one too.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: He does? Yeah, it's good. I feel like if Kai
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Sinat did one, it would be pretty fucking fire too.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't know for what his would be like.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: Maybe that would be great if everybody started making those.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: Lots of people do them.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: Like I was quite surprised when I saw it. Like, fuck,
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: there must be money in that.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Do you do any impressions or impersonations kind of?
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: I'm not that talented, unfortunately.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Did you ever try them? Like try to work on
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: it for a while or think about it?
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: No, no, not really. I kind of had a little
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: moment of wanting to do SNL back in the day
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: before anyone gave a shit about who I was. But
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: I was like, I'm not really good at that stuff.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: I fucking think it's amazing though. People that do it.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: It blows my mind.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Did you see Shane Gillis on there?
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: No. Who's that?
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: He's an American comedian. He's like a really entertaining guy.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Very funny. He just, he had gotten kicked off of
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: the show. Like they had hired him.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: As like a cast member.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: They hired him as a cast member a while, like
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: three years ago. And then the next day they looked
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: at some old episode from a podcast or something and
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: said something on it and they took him off. They said,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: we changed our minds. And then he blew up since
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: then and he has like a huge career. And now
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: they just had him back as a guest.
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: So.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Did he host?
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, he hosted.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: So I thought it was interesting. I thought he was
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: going to say at the last minute.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: Fuck you.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Can't make it guys.
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Wow. I kind of wish that he would, but I
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: don't know if that's just like a petty part of
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: me that wish that.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: I have that in me as well.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Sometimes that petty part of you just shows up,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: Oh God.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: Yeah. Quite a lot for me. I can be quite petty.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Does it feel like, um, Jesus.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: Air conditioning.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Um, does it feel, is it really a thing? What?
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: Like now when you think about it, cause you've been
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: traveling a lot, right? You're in hotels, you're on planes.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: It just like, my voice is, busted so that when
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: i tour the same thing it's the air conditioning just
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: cold synthetic air it's never right is it no that's
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: why when you i get hotel rooms i always try
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: to get like an open a fucking window yeah because
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: it's been like i say four days i've been in
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: a hotel or in a car or anything like that
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: or you know studios are cold so yeah it just
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: busts my.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: Voice sometimes when i go to certain places i'll stay
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: in a place that doesn't have any air condition and
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: when at first you're like, this sucks.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: But by like the second night, you kind of get
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: into like this real natural sort of pattern kind of.
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: And your body kind of self-regulates itself with heat and everything.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: It's so much better for you. But yeah, it just,
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: it buckles my voice. I'm actually going to have some
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: free water.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Did you see, well, you said you have ADHD, huh?
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: And how'd you get it?
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: I just bought it at the store. Just go down
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: and fucking pick it up.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Oh, so it's not something that's developed.
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: No, born with it. Well, I don't think I was
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: born with it. I was diagnosed at 16. Been medicated
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: on and off forever. I fucking hate it.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: You really?
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: Yeah. I really struggle with it. I find it really hard.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: Like, how do you notice it? Because sometimes I wonder,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: how do you notice it? Like, where do you notice it?
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: Because 16 is kind of a young age to diagnose
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: somebody with something, but... That's how we do it.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: And especially in the 90s as well. It's everywhere now,
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: which is great. People talk about it so much now.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: But back then, ADHD was just like, shut up and
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: sit down, have a pill, fuck off. It's not just
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: a hyperactivity thing. It's lacking in dopamine and all that.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: And I just run in circles. I can't grab a thought.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: I find it as I get older, it's kind of
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: getting harder. It's weird. Like, as I say, I'm medicated.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: for it, but, um, I get the medication makes me anxious.
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: So it's like, well, which fucking devil do you choose
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: to hang out with? You're going to be like, well,
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: I'll just be scattered and full on or not as scattered,
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: not as full on, but anxious as fuck. And I
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: don't know if it's a career thing as well, you know,
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: with more success and all that with so much going
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: on and so much demand. But I find it hard
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: to cop a break with it. It bums me hard.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: See all this stuff online and people are like, ADHD,
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: you know, I find it's like my superpower. And I'm like,
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: fuck you. I don't find that at all. People, again,
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: I think it might be a social media thing. It's like,
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: it's great. It means I can do that and do
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: that and do that and do that. And I'm like,
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: I can't do that or that or half of that
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: or any of that. And I've got a heap of
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: people that work for me and I fucking hate them
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: all because they don't do enough for me. Like it's
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: just– I find it exhausting. And it's the dopamine thing.
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: We don't produce dopamine, that fucking drug that makes you happy.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: Damn.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: And it's just– it's hard. I find it really, really hard.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: So people with ADHD don't produce dopamine?
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: I think we just– I think it's harder. It's a
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: lot harder for us to produce dopamine.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: Can you look it up?
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: Like 10 times harder I think it is. What? And
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: I really feel that on a fucking cellular level. Trying
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: to write a stand-up show.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: You need the dopamine. You need the excitement.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: I need a brain that can work, that can go,
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: that's funny, that's funny, bring it in.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: People with ADHD have at least one defective gene. Oh, damn.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Your shit's messed up.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: Yeah, we're fucking.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: The DRD2 gene makes it difficult for neurons to respond
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: to dopamine, the neurotransmitter that is involved in feelings of
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: pleasure and the regulation of attention.
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Wow. Can you please tell me what... People with ADHD
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: have at least... See, I have to read it again.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: Can you please tell me what the DRD2 gene is?
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: Is that just... I wonder if that's what's in Ritalin.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: Dopamine receptor D2, also known as D2R, is a protein
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: that in humans is encoded by the DRD2 gene.
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: Yeah, dopamine.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: The dopamine D2 receptor is the main receptor for most
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: antipsychotic drugs. The structure of DR2 and complex with the atypical.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: It's not helping me.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: No, it's so many words for me right now.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a lot.
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: Pretty pictures though. You reckon I've got ADD? I did.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: I was like, they look like streamers. That's what I
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: thought when I looked at it.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because I just, I tell you, what if I
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: take an antidepressants? I got off like three months ago
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: and then I just got back on like two days ago.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I just couldn't take it anymore.
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: I was on antidepressants. Coming off though, I actually, my
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: last standup show, I talk a lot about that. That's
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: no fucking joke. Coming off those. Did you find it
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: really hard?
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I found it hard. I found the harder part
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: for me is realizing that I have to go back
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: on right now. Cause I think I didn't want to
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: have to be back on and traveling in Australia has been,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: it's just been tough. It's been tough to like, I
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: had a good pattern of like, uh, fitness and stuff
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: at home and I've still been doing well, but just
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: not as organized your sleep patterns get off. So it
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: put me in a, like a real, I got into like,
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: I got real angry and then I got like in
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: a real tough spot and I just didn't know what
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: else to do. So I was like, I think I
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: just have to get back on them. So I think
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: part of me was really bummed out that I had to.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I understand that. I remember when I had
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: to go, I was on them, then I went off
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: and went back on them. And I thought the same thing.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: I was like, I don't want to be trapped on it.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: I felt trapped on antidepressants.
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: It takes so long to come off them. Coming off them,
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: it takes six weeks. You have to wean yourself off.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: I was like, I don't want to have to do
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: that again.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: Well, I got on them like 20 years ago. So
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: I'm like, have I just, and the tough part is
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: I don't have a lot of feelings. I have feelings,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: but it's hard to know what they are because the
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: antidepressants kind of just make everything feel the same. Right.
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: And then a lot of times some feelings I don't process.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: So I get in this tough spot where I'll get
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: off the antidepressants so I can have some feelings.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: But then sometimes if I'm not careful, there's some pitfalls
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: and that can get, you know, pretty deep. And so
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: it's just tough because, and it's like, well, like I
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: wanted to, like, I want to get, you know, like
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: married or something one day. And so I start thinking, well,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: I don't even know how I feel about people sometimes.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Like if I'm dating, it's hard for me to even
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: know because it's just hard for me to access my feelings.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: Yeah, they're numbing, aren't they? Blunting. They blunt.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Yeah, everything kind of feels the same. It's like, oh, man,
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: I just saw that dog get hit by a bus.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Or do I like Sharon?
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. It's the same feeling.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: So I was like, I have to get off of
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: these or I'm just going to be stuck in this
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: cycle of not knowing anything. how I feel about someone,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: But then it's just gotten too steep recently. So I'm
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: going to get back on. I am back on now
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: and then maybe I'll get off whenever I get back home.
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: See, when I'm touring, I'm in the best routine. Isn't
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: that weird?
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: When I'm at home, I'm so fucking scattered with the
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: kids and life. And I think because I probably have
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: my husband there as well. I'm like, help.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: And is a husband helpful or is a husband not helpful?
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: No, he's brilliant.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Let's get to the bottom of it. Yeah.
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: That's the only reason I'm here.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: Always with the children.
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: To tell you how great my, yeah.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Damn.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: He's all time. No, he's brilliant.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: Is it hard to love somebody after you're like married
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: for a while? Does it get different kind of?
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: It's not hard to love him. We've been together for
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: 20 years.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: I think, I mean, he's the only thing I've committed to.
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: And not, I'm not, don't just mean person, I mean thing. ADHD,
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: you can't, I don't know how.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: To really, really, really.
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: Crave stability, yet I'm fucking terrified by it. But I
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: need it. So it's, and I have that with him.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: So it's different, sure, but it's, I love, yeah, stability
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: and I get that from him.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: Oh, that's nice.
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: It's so great. Was it hard.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: To make that decision? Yeah, because I think I have
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: a tough time with commitment. It's like fucking the last
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: thing I want to do.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: Well, I think I'm a goal-oriented person as well. So
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: I kind of met him and went, let's go. I
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: also fell pregnant, so we got married.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Oh, you did?
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but we were together for two months. Yeah, a
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: week and a half. No, eight years. Wow.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: Yeah, ages.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: Long distance. We've always been long distance.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: You have?
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: Something kind of nice about it. It's almost sort of
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: romantic and long distance. Like you're coming back from war. Yeah.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: He's going off with the troops or whatever.
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: Absolutely. He's at home making things for me, making it nice.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: Making the weapons. Yeah.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: Making the pie that I eat when I come in.
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: And so now with touring and being away for work,
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: we're kind of used to it.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. do Australian comedians feel like they have to
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: go to America? You have to get that American audience.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Is there like a feeling like that?
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: I don't, um, I don't think so. I mean, for me, yes.
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: Cause my audience is there because of the internet, but
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: there's some fucking brilliant Australian comics are my favorite that
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: are here and are killing it here and don't have
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: to go anywhere. And I don't, I mean, I don't know. Sure.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: They probably want to go do what they want to do,
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: but they're killing it here. They don't need to, cause
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: it's a smaller pool as well. So, you know, you're,
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: A lot of our comedians are on TV as well.
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: They get great jobs on telly. They don't need to
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: worry about fucking off over there.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. I know. It's so nice here. It's so safe.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: That's the craziest thing. It's like you can go somewhere
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: and you're not going to get killed. Well, yeah, by
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: a gun. You might buy a fucking shark. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: but you're going to notice that your pants are getting
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: wet first.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: Before you're like... Yeah, when you go swim in the ocean,
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: you're like, today might be the fucking day. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: but not just walking down the street.
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you're not just milling in a park and there's
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: some fucking.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. Tarantula just runs at your face.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: Some dope shark just rolls up on you, you know?
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: Fucking alligator comes after you.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Oh, we have a... Yeah, it's one of our most
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: dangerous animals over there. It's just homeless people and... Is
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: the gun. Drugs and the gun. Can you imagine if
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: guns were all over your country?
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: I fucking can't. When I'm over there, I'm in the States,
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: I'm like, we rolled into a place when I was
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: doing a show on the last tour and 500 metres
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: down the street there was a shooting at the local mall.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: And I was like, are we alerting authorities to get
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: me the fuck out of here? Like, you know, it's
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: the biggest thing in the world for us. It's the biggest.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: There's a shooting. We're in New South Wales. There's a
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: shooting in fucking Queensland. I'm telling you, siren alarms will
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: go off here.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: And I remember then these women came to my show
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: that night and I do a meet and greet after
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: and it's that thing as well. Do I talk about
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: it when I get on stage? What do I do?
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: It was so close by. Like three people were fucking
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: shot and killed.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Sorry, I didn't know they were dead.
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: No, but like it's like what the fuck?
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: And then, you know, you make the decision not to
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: talk about it because it's like, I'm giving you guys
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: an hour of laughter and I don't want to be
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: that Australian that comes in and goes, you guys are fucked.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: And then I did a meet and greet and there
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: was this group of women after. And I was talking
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: to them.
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: And I was like, that's really full on with what happened.
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: And they just glazed over.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: They didn't care.
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: Well, no, they just, you have to, because they're going
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: to put their kids on a fucking school bus the
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: next day and send them off to school. Like, yeah, anyway,
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: do you miss your kids when you travel without them? Oh,
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: you guys have different coping mechanisms than we have. It's
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: built different.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: Oh, well, no, it's gotten extremely just severe and bizarre
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: over there.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: It blows my mind.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: People are, like, wishing their children well and, like, getting them, like,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Kevlar and stuff for Christmas and, like, bullet-resistant things.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: And all the debates that go on after there's a shooting,
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: they're like, well, you know why this is? It's because
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: some random– Man had an issue once with his mother
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: and found, and I'm like, what's the end of that sentence?
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: A gun. You fuckheads. Like, what the fuck?
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: I agree with you, but how would you get rid?
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: That's the problem is at this point, there's no.
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: No, you're fucked. You're so far in with the NRA
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: and everyone's all up in everyone.
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like how would you get all the guns?
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: Well, we did a buyback system in Australia.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: You did?
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: We had a mass shooting, Port Arthur, 96, was it?
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: And it was the greatest mass shooting we've had in
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: this country and then our government did a buyback system.
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: You got $ 300 for everyone who brought in their fucking
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: guns and they fucking, sure there's psychos who were like,
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: no one gets my gun. But we did a buyback system.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: In America, I bet you would get 20,000 guns.
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: Shot in the face. Hey, I have an idea. Fuck off. Okay.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: Yeah. You would get, you're right.
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: Shot in the fucking face. You got to cut all
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: this out because now I'm terrified when I go to America,
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: I'm going to shot in the fucking face.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: No, you're not getting shot. I sent a DM to
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: Pablo Escobar's wife when she got out of prison and
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I haven't been killed yet. So I didn't know. I
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: thought she was single. I thought.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: Oh, you said it like a fucking DM.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: I mean, I didn't say like.
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: Oh, I thought you were like, congratulations, he's out. I
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: wish you both all the best now that... Oh, dude.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: I just said, hola, mama. But still, I think, yeah,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: people could perceive that wrong. But like, I.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going to be fine. But yeah, it's so crazy.
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: You don't realize how less stress I feel being here.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: It's like I don't even want to go back. Part
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: of me doesn't even want. It's so fucking scary. You
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: don't realize that there's always this thought in the back
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: of your head that somebody's going to just fucking.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: He's got a gun. I think all the time. And
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: the shooters are the worst.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: They show up. They kill 19 people. They're just trying
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: to shoot one guy.
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: Fucking hell.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: They have the worst aim. We've got to start training
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: these kids to shoot better.
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: I'm going to stay out of that one. I reckon
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: I got in enough. I'm doing everything I can to
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: get the fuck out of this now. Cancel my tour.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: I'm not going. I don't even care.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: I don't know what the solution is. But yes.
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: I do.
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: Fucking guns.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: I agree with you. But how do you get rid
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: of them? Because the criminals are not going to turn
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: them in. And the guy that's afraid the criminal isn't
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: going to turn it in isn't going to turn it in.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: But don't you have incentives to buy guns over there?
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: You open a bank account, you get a gun. Maybe
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: start there.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: People don't want, yeah, nobody would. It's just too ingrained
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: in the culture.
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: Yeah, no one's going to like it. It's like having
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: a belly button. Right?
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: If you try to take somebody's fucking belly button.
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: You get shot in the face.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: People would be pretty TO'd or pissed off.
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: I'm sure you have. It's very. popular Jim Jefferies bit
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: on gun control in America.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: It's good. He's so good. Spot on. He's such a legend.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Have you gotten to meet him?
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: No. That bit he does is fucking brilliant. It terrifies me, though,
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: when I'm over there. I'm not going to lie.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: It terrifies us. It's really not cool.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: I run my mouth. I run my mouth a lot.
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: When I get there, I'm like, well, I can't because
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: But you guys are charming. You guys are like a–
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: like when the– you know when the– The rare white
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: wombat comes to the zoo or whatever. I feel like
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: that's what it's like when Australians come. People want to
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: go see what's going on. Look at them.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: They're in the cage. Yeah, you're fun. You got your fun.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: Give them a celery, you know?
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: Are they all British?
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: I just feel like people are so intrigued about seeing
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: you guys. But there is a peacefulness over here. What
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: else is it about it?
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: Have you been to New Zealand?
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: Yeah, we went to New Zealand.
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: That's where it's at. I fucking love NZ. It's beautiful.
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: I love it over there.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: And it's very unique.
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: It's magical. I'd move there in a heartbeat.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: We went to Auckland as well, and you meet people
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: who are making sounds and they don't know what they're saying.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: They're using only vowels. I've met people who use only vowels. Yeah, right.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: What are you doing, honey? Oh. Zero continents. You're like, wow.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Come fucking out.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: You look like a fucking witch then.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: Oh, I saw a guy, he sprained his fucking spine
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: trying to finish a sentence over there.
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: I think you just maybe ran into someone who happened
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: to be on fucking ice. Like that doesn't, that's not
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: how New Zealanders speak. It could have been. Like the
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: one dude who's on fucking meth in the street you
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: rock up and talk to.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Yeah. There could have been some trankies going on. Let's
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: bring up that one video of this girl. Did you
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: see this video of this young lady? It's so funny.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: When you're putting your mind to it, you know exactly
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: what to do indoors.
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: How was that for you?
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: Oh, it was amazing. I mean, it was such a
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: strong race. We were all running so fast, multiple running
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: in the 50s, so I knew I had to go
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: out fast. I'd leak in front of me, so I
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: wanted to be in front of them.
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: I could hear all the way she was behind me.
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: Hang on.
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: Where's she from? What accent is that? I can't get
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: past it.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: That's Disney's, bro. She's from Disney.
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: Oh, boy.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: Can you play?
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: Let's play it again.
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: Is that all right if we could play it again?
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: I just need to fucking know. Again, you know what
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: I can feel right now? The front part of my
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: fucking brain.
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: Find me.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: She's British. Indoors.
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: How was that for you?
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: What are you? It was amazing.
- 1:30:44Speaker 4: I mean, it was such a strong race. We were
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: all running so fast, multiple running in the 50s. So
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: I knew I had to go out fast. I'd leak
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: in front of me. So I wanted to be in front.
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: And I could hear how fast she was behind me.
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: So I was like, okay, this is good.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: Now we keep going.
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: And it's probably so amazing. Her mate's like, you put
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: the mic on the wrong bitch. That's Mickey Mouse. When
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: she's not doing that, she's a suit operator at fucking
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: Disneyland of Mickey Mouse.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: She's got to be.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: That's amazing. See?
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: You could convince yourself Mickey Mouse has just broken the
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: 400-meter indoor world record. Fans react as Femke Boll. Femke
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: Boll's interview.
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: Oh, Glasgow.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: Oh, she's Scottish.
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: Glasgow.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: Have you toured over there in the UK?
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: Oh, boy.
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: But I've never been so tired. I've just been like.
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: Right. That was fucking great.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: With the American cartoon character.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: The Dutch runner into the world championships with a world
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: record of 49.24 seconds in the 400, but blew past
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: the timing again in Glasgow.
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: What happened? I want to know what happened 30 seconds
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: before that. Interview, did she rock up? And they were like,
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: let's do an interview. And her mate was like. It
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: was amazing. Her mate was like, I don't reckon we
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: need to do an interview. I reckon we're good. But
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: Mickey Mouse was like, oh, crap. And they're like, no,
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: we've already achieved so much. We just nailed it. She's like,
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: you guys never let me do interviews. Can I do
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: an interview? And they're like, all right. Gird your loins.
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: Here she is. It's a small world after all.
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: That's crazy, man. That's funny. Any other news, guys?
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: Anything else?
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: That's going on?
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: No, that's the only thing that's going on in the world.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: Fucking Mickey Mouse went for a run.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: I mean, there's other bigger stuff we could talk about. Oh, yeah.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: They went to the zoo. Oh, yeah.
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: I saw that.
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: Great.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: Well done.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: Not surprised. I think it's like an Australian tradition coming
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: here and going to the zoo, huh?
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so. It's a pretty cool zoo. Oh,
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: it's pretty. It's like a sanctuary as well. They do conservation.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: They do some fucking great work there.
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: I thought it was way hands-on. I was kind of
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: surprised and yeah. It's like you really get close to
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: some animalia.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: The Kelsey man has a brother. Is that correct?
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: And did he just retire from something?
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: Yeah. He plays football. He played for the NFL for
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: Is that the same team as the other Kelsey man? No,
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: a different brother. That just won the Super Bowl? No.
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: Because I saw his press.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Very tear-filled.
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: I thought his mother had died.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: It was a lot of tears.
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: I was like, we all fucking retire. I'm What happened?
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: It meant a lot to him.
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: But it's everywhere.
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: He went through a lot of stuff. He went through, like,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: also he talked about, like, his family. He got real
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: deep into it. I think sometimes it's almost you wonder, though, like,
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: are they trying to get them to do more now?
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: I thought it was very genuine and touching. But, yeah,
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: he had a lot of.
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: Look, I thought it was very genuine and very touching.
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: I just didn't need to hear it. I was like,
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: maybe on a podcast. Like, you know, you're going on
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: later and having a chat to someone about But it
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: went on and on. We had no cousins. It was
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: just me and my brother. I was like, just come
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: out and make the announcement. I'm done. It's been a
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: great season. It's been a great 40 years that I've
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: been playing catch up. I was like, bitch, you're still
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: fucking crying. It just went on for me. International Women's
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: Day is so disrespectful.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: Oh, that's a good point on International Women's Day. Do
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: you think that people are less emotional in Australia?
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: No.
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: I think we're still pretty emotional. Yeah?
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: I just don't think. We have as much media attention
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: on it. Oh, that's a good point.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: And especially him. It's kind of interesting the side effects
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: of like, because I've always thought Travis Kelsey liked darker women, right?
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: That's always been the.
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: I don't know the man.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: Like if he ate an Oreo, he would just eat
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: the sides.
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: Oh, right.
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: Well, he's not now. Not now.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: I mean, now he's going heavy cream.
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: Right in the center.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: Yeah. He's going full cream. Yeah.
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: So it's just, I think a lot of people, I, yeah,
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of like, a lot of
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: people wondering the reality behind that. Like, is it real?
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: Yeah. I think.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: And you don't know what the media, you don't know
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: what their strategy is. You don't know what their plan is.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: You know, they could easily approach people and say, this
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: is what we want to do.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Yeah. You know, Australia shat themselves when he flew in
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: for her, one of her concerts.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that's the crazy part. I just wonder what
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: his life is going to be like now because that's
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: a level I feel like of fame that's kind of like.
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: Miserable.
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: Every interview is asking about her.
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: Every.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: And it will be for the rest of his life. Yeah.
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: It's Taylor Swift.
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: You can't fight that. I wonder if you think about
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: that before you, but maybe you don't. I don't know.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: I'm just thinking out loud, you know. I mean, if
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: you're really in love, you don't.
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: Well, that's what I was going to say. If you
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: love someone, you're like, fuck it, whatever, who cares? But
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: I think if you go in with it, with an
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: idea of it being an arrangement, then it's different. So
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: maybe it is love. Do you know what I mean?
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: If you love someone, you just go into it and
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: then you find yourself in interviews always talking about them,
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: always talking about your relationship.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Gosh.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: Gosh. Oh, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy,
- 1:36:04Speaker 3: that level of fame.
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: Fuck.
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: I couldn't do it.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: Yeah. It feels like a lot. No, no, no. It already,
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: sometimes it's weird when it starts to feel like your
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: own name doesn't even belong to you anymore. Does that
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: make any sense to you?
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: It makes absolute sense to me. Even when I'm on
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: a fucking phone call calling, you know, a kid's school.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: Like Celeste Barber. Like, shut up. Like, I feel like going,
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: can I speak to so-and-so? Or, yeah, even saying my
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: name now feels kind of weird. Yeah. Or when my
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: mates are like, we'll get a table somewhere. They're like,
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: say Celeste Barber. I'm like, no. And they're like, we do?
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: What do you fucking mean you do? You're not even there.
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: I'm not there. I'm in America. How do you mean
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: you've got the fucking table at Nobu in Sydney? They're like, no,
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: it's fine. And then they just spend the whole time
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: at dinner going, she's coming.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: Yeah. That's actually a great idea. Yeah. If you're waiting
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: for a table out there, make sure you say.
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: Adele.
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: Adele. Get a table with Adele.
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: Well, I'm glad I got to have a table for
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: a little while today with Celeste Barber. Thanks for meeting up.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: I know you have a lot going on and I
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: know you have to go home to your son's birthday.
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: And his football game. No, it was good. It was
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: good to come in. It was good to meet. I
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: hope we made it work. Thanks for moving it as well.
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: I know you had to move it around a bit
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: for me.
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: I appreciate it. That's all right. I'm glad that we
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: got to. Yeah, I was trying to learn as much
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: as I could about Australia, but I think we talked
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: about Australia some, huh? Yeah.
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: Are you going to do like Great Barrier Reef or
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: Great Ocean Road, any of those sort of things while
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: you're here?
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: I think the next time I come, I'm going to
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: come back one more time.
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: And make it a thing.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: Just one more time before you die.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Well, I don't know. I mean, I might come back
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: more than that. I used to have a dream I
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: would meet my wife in Australia.
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: But I think a lot of people romanticize stuff like that,
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: Yeah, nothing wrong with that.
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: Yeah, no.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: It'd be nice, but you never know. But I think
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: the first time I came, I did shows like, and
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: it was like travel show the same day, that sort
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: of thing. It was way too hard on me.
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: It's too much. That's what my last tour, I did that.
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: It's way too hard. And so this time we slowed
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: it down and it's been awesome. Got to be at
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: the Gold Coast and see different places and spend a
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: little bit more time in different cities. But then it
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: also gets kind of long. You know, you're going for
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: three weeks and you're like. Yeah. But my biggest audiences
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: are in Australia.
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: Yeah, right. Mine are in the States. Look at that. Wow.
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: Isn't that weird? Yeah, that's the goal, isn't it? To
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: slow it down. so you can kind of live and
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: enjoy work. But like I was saying, I can't with
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: fucking kids and living so far away. Where did you
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: go on the Gold Coast?
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: We went to Paradise Cove or something.
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: Surfers Paradise.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: Surfers, yeah. Yeah. It was good. We got some electric
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: bikes and we got to ride out onto the water,
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: like onto the beach.
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: It was unreal. It might have been the neatest thing
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: I've ever done. I literally felt like I was on
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: the moon, which had never been new.
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: Fucking magic beaches we have up there. I'm up, that's
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: where I live up there.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: It's just like, yeah, I know.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: It was so fucking good. I just wanted to just
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: rip my fucking penis off and just throw it in
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: the water. That's how I felt really.
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: Oh, you might find your wife up there. Who knows?
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: Yeah, for some reason when I'm having a good time,
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: I literally want to rip my penis off and just
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: throw it into whatever I'm having fun at.
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: A kangaroo. Whip it at a kangaroo at a sanctuary.
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: No, those kangaroos are too dangerous.
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: Yeah, they'll fuck you up.
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: All right, so let's move on. People can watch your
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: special on Netflix. They can check out your tour. Now,
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: will this also be coming to the States?
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm there. Second of May Oh okay Netflix is
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: a joke Oh that's right you start then And then

- 1:40:01Speaker 3: His name's Buddy It is a real name for someone
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: It's fucking Buddy.
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: Wow that's the best thing about Australia People have names
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: like Buddy and Poppy and Lily.
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: Yeah in America when we're there and my other son's
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: name is Lou. They're like, hey, buddy. And Lou's like, no,
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: that's him. And Buddy's like, how does everyone know my
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: name in America?
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: In America we have names like Bullet and Casket.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: Yeah, and fucking Stud and Tard.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and Cock.
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: And Chunk.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: All right. Cheers, Celeste. Thank you.
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: Now I'm just floating on the breeze, and I feel
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: I'm falling like these leaves.
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: I must be cornerstone.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Oh, but when I.
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: Reach that ground, I'll share this peace of mind I found.
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: I can feel it in my bones.
