Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites. I am Jeff Schwartz and this
- 0:10Speaker 1: is our parlay show. It is me as usual alongside
- 0:14Speaker 1: Paula Duca and black Jack Fletcher. And since obviously college
- 0:18Speaker 1: football is over, we'll only have two professional games left
- 0:21Speaker 1: to me three but to this weekend in the Conference
- 0:24Speaker 1: Championship Kimes, we will cover that, will cover Super Bowl matchups,
- 0:27Speaker 1: will cover some Kyler Murray, some Eagles starter as well.
- 0:30Speaker 1: All that fun for you guys. I welcome in my buddies.
- 0:33Speaker 1: How you guys doing today? How are you doing? Shwartsy,
- 0:37Speaker 1: I couldn't be happier. The Chiefs one their playoff game
- 0:40Speaker 1: and I will be at the game against the Patriots
- 0:42Speaker 1: hopefully and the Patriots dynasty this weekend. Polly, how's your weekend, buddy?
- 0:47Speaker 1: It was good? Congratulations Sports See are ready for the
- 0:51Speaker 1: listeners that it just joined? Us have offered you bottle
- 0:54Speaker 1: of Jack Daniels. If you go shirt off and shave
- 0:58Speaker 1: your chest into the casey, it is gonna be fourteen
- 1:05Speaker 1: degrees the high on Sunday the low of seven. I
- 1:08Speaker 1: feel like that's not enough money. I know Blackjack would
- 1:11Speaker 1: do that, so maybe we need Action Network is to
- 1:13Speaker 1: fly black Jack out to Kansas City and and let
- 1:19Speaker 1: him shave I can't say, into his chest, and maybe
- 1:22Speaker 1: we're the jack on top of it, and that will
- 1:25Speaker 1: be what we have for the Action Network on Sunday.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Black What was your your biggest takeaway from this weekend?
- 1:34Speaker 1: Obviously a lot of a lot of favorites one all
- 1:36Speaker 1: the favorites one not all of them covered. Uh. Four
- 1:39Speaker 1: home teams, four with buys, all winning the games this weekend.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Obviously a big flip from wild Card weekend. We had
- 1:46Speaker 1: three three upsets. Really, um, is this weekend kind of
- 1:49Speaker 1: went how you thought it would for the most part.
- 1:53Speaker 1: For the most part, I mean I had Kansas City,
- 1:56Speaker 1: uh in New Orleans that the surprise to me was
- 2:00Speaker 1: is New England and just how much they dominated the Chargers. Um.
- 2:05Speaker 1: But you know, Jeff, I gotta tell you, the biggest
- 2:08Speaker 1: thing that I'm taking away from this is, uh, Kansas
- 2:11Speaker 1: City showed a little bit of defense on Saturday, and
- 2:14Speaker 1: if they can do that again next week, I think
- 2:17Speaker 1: that bodes very well for them. Yeah. So, so about
- 2:21Speaker 1: their defense, it's it's really fascinating. They're statistically they're not
- 2:25Speaker 1: very good, um, except rushing the pastor they can rush
- 2:27Speaker 1: the Pastor very well. We saw that on on on Saturday. UM,
- 2:31Speaker 1: but at home they just played better. And a buddy
- 2:35Speaker 1: of mine tweeting me a story that he wrote, and
- 2:36Speaker 1: it makes sense. Is you know, if you look at
- 2:39Speaker 1: the offenses they played at home, they haven't been very
- 2:41Speaker 1: good outside the Charges. They didn't play like a top
- 2:43Speaker 1: twelve or fifteen offense, but they even held those offenses
- 2:48Speaker 1: under their usual production. So they're playing much better home.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I don't know the reason why. I mean, they only
- 2:53Speaker 1: had one penalty in their secondary all game on Saturday.
- 2:56Speaker 1: They leave the National Football League by far in defensive holdings.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Pass interference is obviously justin Houston, being able to rush
- 3:02Speaker 1: the Pastors back healthy has been huge. And one thing
- 3:05Speaker 1: that happens when you play the Chiefs is you have
- 3:09Speaker 1: to stick to your game play offense, no matter what
- 3:11Speaker 1: the scores. The Chargers did that when they beat them there.
- 3:13Speaker 1: The Ravens did that when when when the game was close.
- 3:16Speaker 1: You have to run the football even when you're down
- 3:18Speaker 1: fourteen nothing. So I expect New England this weekend to
- 3:20Speaker 1: come in there with that mindset. Even if they're down early,
- 3:23Speaker 1: they will continue to do that. Uh, PAULI, what was
- 3:26Speaker 1: your your big takeaway from the games on Saturday, the
- 3:28Speaker 1: Chiefs and and the and the and the Colts and
- 3:31Speaker 1: the Rams and the Child Boys. Well, obviously going into
- 3:34Speaker 1: the Chiefs and the Colts game, that surprised me a
- 3:37Speaker 1: tiny bit because I hadn't mentioned before if you would
- 3:40Speaker 1: have went into both of those games, or at least
- 3:43Speaker 1: the Chiefs game and said they were gonna be under
- 3:44Speaker 1: a touchdown favorite after by but the Colts were on
- 3:47Speaker 1: such a role. The power of the bye in the
- 3:50Speaker 1: playoffs basically in NFL football, basically a field go away
- 3:55Speaker 1: from all four field goal miss away from the New
- 3:58Speaker 1: Orleans kicker from all four teams even covering two and
- 4:01Speaker 1: all basically dominating except again just Jason Garrett doesn't want
- 4:06Speaker 1: to go for two. But um, I don't know, like
- 4:11Speaker 1: you know, Andy Reid finally cracked the code oh and
- 4:14Speaker 1: nine against the spread in the playoffs. Since the Murger
- 4:17Speaker 1: him and Harty Schottenheimer, all this going on, Mahomes made
- 4:21Speaker 1: a throw, a side arm throw to Kelsey. He made
- 4:23Speaker 1: a catch. Like some of these things that are happening
- 4:26Speaker 1: for the Chiefs is just a lot of things that
- 4:28Speaker 1: are aligning now. If they can beat the great Tom
- 4:31Speaker 1: Brady and like they just somehow just continue to just
- 4:35Speaker 1: march and march and march. It's amazing. So somehows this
- 4:39Speaker 1: could be finally that you know, like they have that
- 4:41Speaker 1: I don't know, and horse racing we call it that
- 4:43Speaker 1: that horse that just always loses by a nose and
- 4:46Speaker 1: just can't win, and then finally when they do win,
- 4:50Speaker 1: they break out. Like I just have that feeling for
- 4:53Speaker 1: Andy Reid for certain, if this might be his year,
- 4:56Speaker 1: you know, well, it does feel like that he finally
- 4:58Speaker 1: has a quarterback that's not Alex Smith in Kansas City
- 5:01Speaker 1: least right he's been successful. Uh, now you have Donovan
- 5:03Speaker 1: mcnabbath Philly, who's a great quarterback. Um, isn'tally you mentioned
- 5:06Speaker 1: the Cowboys going for two. I I don't understand this
- 5:09Speaker 1: line of thinking. I get there's the math behind it.
- 5:13Speaker 1: You know, they're down there, down nine, Okay, if they
- 5:16Speaker 1: go for two with about with about two minutes left,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and they already converted one earlier in the game, it's
- 5:20Speaker 1: fifty fifty to convert two point conversions. They converted one
- 5:23Speaker 1: early in the game, so specifically kind of tell you
- 5:25Speaker 1: they probably don't convert the second one. So the down nine,
- 5:28Speaker 1: the game is over, okay with with two minutes left,
- 5:31Speaker 1: You're not coming back from nine points in the National
- 5:33Speaker 1: Football League with with the way we have on side kicks, now, okay,
- 5:37Speaker 1: but analects people are like, you gotta do it. You
- 5:40Speaker 1: know what you have in front of you. What do
- 5:41Speaker 1: you mean, Yeah, you know that you're losing the game.
- 5:43Speaker 1: That's if you have in front of you. If you're
- 5:45Speaker 1: down eight, you know you can still win the football game.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I don't understand that, Like I understand the concept I
- 5:50Speaker 1: should say of yeah, you know what you have to do,
- 5:53Speaker 1: but you know you're gonna lose the game. So what's
- 5:55Speaker 1: the point of knowing you're going to lose the football game?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Play for the cover? Well, that's different. Of course. I
- 6:01Speaker 1: was talking about that Pollie talk about General Black. Do
- 6:05Speaker 1: you you're laughing about it? Do you understand that lot
- 6:07Speaker 1: of thinking? Because I'm with you, because as much as
- 6:09Speaker 1: I hate Jason Garrett, I think he's a terrible head coach,
- 6:13Speaker 1: that was absolutely the right call. You keep your team
- 6:16Speaker 1: in the game as long as you can keep the minute.
- 6:18Speaker 1: If they go for two and miss it, that game
- 6:20Speaker 1: is over. If they kick the extra point. They prolonged
- 6:24Speaker 1: the game, and they say I would punt from his
- 6:26Speaker 1: backyard and fourth and inches. You don't go for two
- 6:29Speaker 1: on the first one. That just doesn't make any No,
- 6:32Speaker 1: it doesn't. I know, it doesn't make sense. Well, they
- 6:34Speaker 1: already gotten missing, the already gone for two year, already
- 6:39Speaker 1: converted one. Yeah, the second one are less um No,
- 6:44Speaker 1: I just I know, I know. I look, I wanted
- 6:45Speaker 1: to push at least I had seven, so it would
- 6:47Speaker 1: be nice to at least to at least push. Look
- 6:49Speaker 1: at the when you like, like like want to be
- 6:53Speaker 1: like a head coach of a small school, like a
- 6:55Speaker 1: college school. He would play for the cover because he
- 6:58Speaker 1: would get fans like, don't you love teams that cover?
- 7:01Speaker 1: Coaches don't ever kiss you? Or if you have an
- 7:05Speaker 1: awful team, play for the cover. No coachingtna win something.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You gotta win. Jason Garrett hasn't won nothing except he
- 7:13Speaker 1: still has his hair, his golden red hair. If he plays,
- 7:17Speaker 1: you know fans he would have got if they would
- 7:19Speaker 1: have went for two. You know how many people told
- 7:21Speaker 1: you're not allowed to you're not allowed to get you.
- 7:23Speaker 1: We're in a gambling world. Play for the cover, Jason
- 7:27Speaker 1: all right, let's talk about the games that happened yesterday. Blackjack,
- 7:31Speaker 1: you went against your boy and Tom Brady. You paid
- 7:34Speaker 1: for that. I guess the game had classic New England
- 7:37Speaker 1: stopping the Chargers. I'm glad I bet in New England.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'm on the only people I feel like in the
- 7:41Speaker 1: world that that that bet them. How much do you
- 7:42Speaker 1: regret that play? Come on, man, I don't regret it
- 7:45Speaker 1: at all. I regret nothing. Okay, the Patriots stink they
- 7:49Speaker 1: can't win games. End the story. Yeah, I love it.
- 7:55Speaker 1: The best part about it was like Philip Rivers through
- 7:58Speaker 1: his temper tantrum like before the second at the quarter.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I mean, like black Check and I think we talked
- 8:04Speaker 1: in that game, and I'm gonna ask you this, short Sea,
- 8:07Speaker 1: were you needs the pressure that like Kansas City like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, excuse me, the pressure that New
- 8:14Speaker 1: England got on the Rivers all game. So, so here's
- 8:18Speaker 1: the thing about about that game. It was a classic
- 8:20Speaker 1: game of people kind of underestimating New England's coaching ability
- 8:24Speaker 1: again for the thousand time. So Chargers roll in that
- 8:27Speaker 1: game defensively. Let's talk about that. First, they roll in
- 8:29Speaker 1: the game with that, with that hybrid defense they run
- 8:32Speaker 1: against the Ravens right, they have four essentially defensive linemen
- 8:35Speaker 1: and seven defensive backs. Well, what did New England do?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Like they always do, they adapt their offense to what's
- 8:40Speaker 1: in front of them. So they rushed the football for
- 8:42Speaker 1: a zillion yards. Song shot over a hundred yards I
- 8:45Speaker 1: think it was a hundred fifty three yards total. They
- 8:47Speaker 1: and they ran power, they ran zone, they ran wham,
- 8:49Speaker 1: they went all these different plays that that they run
- 8:52Speaker 1: in their arsenal. And then to to your flip side
- 8:55Speaker 1: to your question about defense, So their front for is
- 9:00Speaker 1: they're not the best pass RUSSA show. So they generate
- 9:03Speaker 1: pressure by bringing extra guys. And what they did a
- 9:05Speaker 1: good job of two things. One is bringing extra guy
- 9:08Speaker 1: knowing that that Philip Rivers is not very mobile. And
- 9:10Speaker 1: they played press coverage. They look, they got beat once,
- 9:13Speaker 1: but generally speaking they did a good job play played
- 9:15Speaker 1: press coverage, not allow the Chargers to find open spots
- 9:18Speaker 1: in the defense. And the Chargers offensive line the right side,
- 9:21Speaker 1: so center, basically right guard, right attack are very bad.
- 9:23Speaker 1: And they attacked them all game with twists and stunts
- 9:26Speaker 1: and they left and they left the left side alone.
- 9:28Speaker 1: That's good. So just it's better coaching. They were prepared
- 9:31Speaker 1: to play this game. The Chargers weren't and it showed,
- 9:33Speaker 1: especially there their thirty eight to seven. Yeah, it's unreal.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Brady is the same way, like I don't know how
- 9:41Speaker 1: the Patriots you just explained it right there. How they
- 9:44Speaker 1: do the same thing. On offense. They pick one guy,
- 9:47Speaker 1: especially if they have a bye, They find the weakness
- 9:50Speaker 1: within those eight days or whatever days and they just
- 9:53Speaker 1: pick on it and pick on it to you fix it.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And like you said, they ran through the middle of
- 9:58Speaker 1: the defense. Now they'll pick on a cornerback. Cornerback sometimes
- 10:02Speaker 1: Brady will literally throw the ball against that guy. Their
- 10:05Speaker 1: weakness all day long. And I don't know what happens
- 10:08Speaker 1: this week is gonna be very, very interesting. It's gonna
- 10:11Speaker 1: be a heck of a football game. I'll tell you
- 10:12Speaker 1: that right now, because I really feel like these two
- 10:15Speaker 1: teams are rolling. You got maybe the best quarterback of
- 10:18Speaker 1: all time, You've got this kid that is some kind
- 10:22Speaker 1: of player um and both two great coaches. It's gonna
- 10:26Speaker 1: be a heck of a game. What was your guys
- 10:29Speaker 1: take away from the night game. I was surprised the
- 10:33Speaker 1: Saints did not score it will. That was my favorite
- 10:35Speaker 1: bet the week with Saints over twenty nine. I just
- 10:37Speaker 1: fell off of by The freees cost him like seventeen
- 10:41Speaker 1: touchdowns and then eleven. One of the holdings was really bad.
- 10:46Speaker 1: The other one was a hold there getting stupid. Maybe
- 10:49Speaker 1: text Max this morning. I'm good, but he's like, that's
- 10:51Speaker 1: the worst call I've ever had in my life, he said,
- 10:53Speaker 1: I mean, couple of holes were bad at eleven minutes,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and then they were misfield go away from covering the game.
- 10:58Speaker 1: They should have covered the game and it was the
- 11:00Speaker 1: right side and they should have buried him. I mean,
- 11:02Speaker 1: the first throw was a pick. But I get what
- 11:05Speaker 1: you're saying. I think the Saints were probably would you
- 11:08Speaker 1: say that they were the least impressive of the favorites?
- 11:10Speaker 1: I guess after yeah, But look they allowed fourteen points
- 11:14Speaker 1: early on and then played fine afterwards. They did, so
- 11:17Speaker 1: I think this game agains the ramming. They got their
- 11:19Speaker 1: little hiccup out of the way. Black Chuck, which side
- 11:21Speaker 1: did you take on that game? Did did you bet
- 11:23Speaker 1: that game? I was on Philadelphia there, I had the
- 11:27Speaker 1: UH had Philly plus plus ten, and I had Shilly
- 11:30Speaker 1: with Chad plus eight, So both of those covered. Um.
- 11:36Speaker 1: But you know, listen, I thought the Saints would win.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I thought Philly would give them a game. I wasn't
- 11:40Speaker 1: really surprised. Like you said, Jeff. You know, the Eagles
- 11:43Speaker 1: come out, they put fourteen on the board quick, and
- 11:46Speaker 1: then the Saint pitcher shutout for the rest of the game. So,
- 11:50Speaker 1: you know, as much as it was a little bit
- 11:52Speaker 1: more of a struggle than I think a lot of
- 11:53Speaker 1: people expected, that, say, defense buckled down. They got the
- 11:58Speaker 1: job done for the for the rest of the game,
- 12:00Speaker 1: and they're offense to stay in law from drive. They
- 12:03Speaker 1: did what they had to do. End of the day.
- 12:05Speaker 1: You know what, the Saints got the win. They're in
- 12:07Speaker 1: the conference championship game. No big deal. Yeah, I mean
- 12:11Speaker 1: that's where they want to be. Drew Brees now six
- 12:13Speaker 1: and on the Dome. You're right, I gotta get the win.
- 12:15Speaker 1: However you do it. They got it done. All right.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Let's preview the championship around weekend. Two games this weekend.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Let's go with the first one, the Los Angeles Rams
- 12:23Speaker 1: at the Saints. Remember the Saints beat him forty five
- 12:25Speaker 1: the thirty five earlier the year. In my opinion, that game,
- 12:28Speaker 1: but so long ago and it doesn't really count. I
- 12:30Speaker 1: know it counts counts, but like it's so long ago,
- 12:33Speaker 1: no no Cooper Cup. As well. Selta Rankin's being out
- 12:37Speaker 1: as a defensive lineman d tackle for the for the
- 12:39Speaker 1: Saints who blews the cues out yesterday. That's a huge
- 12:41Speaker 1: loss for the Saints this game? Is that? Is that
- 12:44Speaker 1: three and a half for the Saints? For ever? About
- 12:46Speaker 1: three and a half? Over? Under a fifty seven um Blackjack,
- 12:50Speaker 1: your initial thoughts on this NFC Championship game Saints, Saints
- 12:56Speaker 1: aren't losing in the Dome as far as the number goes,
- 13:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna wait on it a little bit because I
- 13:01Speaker 1: think you can catch it at three. We've got of
- 13:05Speaker 1: the tickets on the Ram, of the money on the Rams.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I think that line will come down a little bit.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I'd like to at least get three, if not two
- 13:13Speaker 1: and a half. UM. I would also play the over
- 13:17Speaker 1: in this game. I think this total goes over. Uh.
- 13:20Speaker 1: These teams, you know, the Eagles don't play the same
- 13:23Speaker 1: style that that the Rams do. When these two teams
- 13:25Speaker 1: get on the field together, it's gonna be at tracked me.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I mean, it just is. It's how they play it's
- 13:30Speaker 1: what they want to do. Sometimes they can't do it
- 13:33Speaker 1: depending on the opponent. These they're gonna be able to
- 13:37Speaker 1: do what they want against each other. For the most part,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I expect a lot of points and I expect the
- 13:41Speaker 1: Saint's win. Yeah, I'm with black Chack completely here. I
- 13:46Speaker 1: think the flavor of the month is Sean McVeigh. I
- 13:49Speaker 1: couldn't have heard the announcers say his name more. Do
- 13:52Speaker 1: they say his name more than the players on the
- 13:54Speaker 1: Rams um? And I think that Sean Payton doesn't get
- 13:59Speaker 1: his love. And I think the other a part about
- 14:00Speaker 1: this is is a guy that's played professional sports like
- 14:04Speaker 1: Saints have been there. I know that the Rams got
- 14:06Speaker 1: a little taste, but not this kind of taste. Now,
- 14:09Speaker 1: Jared Goff's gotta go into a dome um and it's
- 14:12Speaker 1: gonna be an extra electric and only three points and
- 14:16Speaker 1: and it's because of the firepower the Rams. I get it.
- 14:19Speaker 1: But that's a pretty short little line. And I just
- 14:23Speaker 1: think that that the Rams good to done. I think
- 14:26Speaker 1: they they didn't run the football like I thought they would.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I gotta give the the Eagles credit, dude. They did
- 14:32Speaker 1: a pretty good, pretty darn good job, except the second
- 14:35Speaker 1: half of keeping Camara and Ingram and Check. I don't
- 14:39Speaker 1: think that happens this weekend. I think both of those
- 14:41Speaker 1: guys go off for the Saints. Yeah, well the Saints
- 14:45Speaker 1: off its. Eagles have a great defensive line. The one
- 14:48Speaker 1: thing that worries me about and the Saints. And I
- 14:51Speaker 1: agree with you guys. I didn't say it's win this game. Look,
- 14:53Speaker 1: they had their hiccup yesterday obviously is that they just
- 14:59Speaker 1: they still have not looked very crispin offense in a while. Okay,
- 15:02Speaker 1: they had the three road games where they didn't score
- 15:05Speaker 1: very much, which makes sense away from the Dome. Then
- 15:07Speaker 1: they had the game against the Steelers where they you know,
- 15:09Speaker 1: they had to kind of work to get to that point.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Remember that there was a kind of a phantom p
- 15:13Speaker 1: I that that led to a touchdown. And then they
- 15:15Speaker 1: sat their stars in weeks seventeen against the Panthers. So
- 15:19Speaker 1: I think that game, the hiccup over was good. Obviously
- 15:21Speaker 1: they'll they'll come out more fired up, but just offensively,
- 15:24Speaker 1: just it's been tougher. I do wonder Drew Brees as
- 15:27Speaker 1: he gets older, his arm strength yesterday was a big problem.
- 15:30Speaker 1: He had Ted Junior open for a touchdown the first play.
- 15:32Speaker 1: He had Taysom Hill open later for another touchdown, handed
- 15:35Speaker 1: threw both those. I do wonder if this leads toward
- 15:38Speaker 1: a little bit of an under game, because both teams
- 15:40Speaker 1: are gonna want to run the football a lot. Obviously,
- 15:43Speaker 1: we saw what c. J. Anderson and Todd Gurley did
- 15:45Speaker 1: on Saturday, uh, and then we saw what the Saints
- 15:47Speaker 1: want to do, which is run the football more often.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Plus with to lead back for the Rams, who was
- 15:52Speaker 1: not there the first time they played. To leave on
- 15:54Speaker 1: Thomas is a good matchup for the Rams. The Saints
- 15:57Speaker 1: don't really have anyone else in the past game if
- 15:59Speaker 1: I mean tomorrow obviously, so that worries me. For the total.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I think the Saints win, but early in the week,
- 16:05Speaker 1: and you know, obviously we have to do more research
- 16:06Speaker 1: on this. I kind of lean a little bit under,
- 16:09Speaker 1: which is probably going to go against what most of
- 16:11Speaker 1: the public feels in this game. All right, let's go
- 16:13Speaker 1: to the game on Sunday night, the only game that
- 16:16Speaker 1: matters this weekend. The Chiefs favored by three. The over
- 16:19Speaker 1: under is at fifty seven New England plus one thirty
- 16:22Speaker 1: five with the money like Kansas City minus one PAULI,
- 16:27Speaker 1: I'll let you begin on this one, buddy. I mean
- 16:31Speaker 1: to bet against Tom Brady, right, I mean, everybody learns
- 16:34Speaker 1: their lesson here and there in Bill Belichick. But like
- 16:37Speaker 1: I said, I think this is a game that, um,
- 16:41Speaker 1: the Chiefs will win. Um. I think they're just better.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I think they're more explosive, and like I said, I
- 16:50Speaker 1: just think it's their year. I think it's Andy Reads here,
- 16:53Speaker 1: like you know, so happy for your brother, so happy
- 16:56Speaker 1: for you that you get to go to the game.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Their offensive line has played very, very well. Their defense
- 17:02Speaker 1: has played well the last a couple of weeks. They're
- 17:07Speaker 1: gonna listen, they're gonna have to get Brady off the field.
- 17:12Speaker 1: But here's the other problem. New England's gonna have to
- 17:14Speaker 1: get off the field in Kansas City. I think a
- 17:17Speaker 1: lot of people don't realize that how just how good
- 17:20Speaker 1: they really are. So um, I know black Jack Scott
- 17:23Speaker 1: Kansas City because he thinks that New England stinks even
- 17:26Speaker 1: though they win. But even though they win. But I
- 17:29Speaker 1: think this is the super Bowl. I really do. I
- 17:31Speaker 1: think whoever wins this game win the Super Bowl. I
- 17:33Speaker 1: just don't know if the Rams and the Saints could
- 17:35Speaker 1: be either one of these two teams. Well, I disagree
- 17:41Speaker 1: with that part of it because I think that the Saints, uh,
- 17:45Speaker 1: they would be my trick to win the Super Bowl.
- 17:47Speaker 1: But I have taken Kansas City. I think they are
- 17:51Speaker 1: the better team. I don't think they're gonna play some
- 17:53Speaker 1: ridiculous soft zone all day unless Tom Brady didn't and
- 17:57Speaker 1: dunk all over them all day long like the Chargers did.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I think the Chiefs will be able to get pressure
- 18:03Speaker 1: up front with those pass rushers justin Houston's d Ford.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I think they'll be in Brady's kitchen all day long.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I'm taking the Chiefs. I'm taking the NFL new iron
- 18:14Speaker 1: Man Mitchell Swarts to go to the Super Bowl. UM. Alright,
- 18:19Speaker 1: A lot a lot of thoughts in this game. UM.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I like, by the way, UM, I'm gonna try to
- 18:27Speaker 1: avoid bet in this game as much as possible. Um
- 18:30Speaker 1: Uh just because just uh, the Chiefs over thirty and
- 18:35Speaker 1: a half feels like a pretty good play, just kind
- 18:37Speaker 1: of looking at this early on. UM. One thing to
- 18:40Speaker 1: consider in this game, and I'm gonna write about it
- 18:42Speaker 1: this week, so so being a lookout of that on
- 18:44Speaker 1: my Twitter at Jef Schwartz. UM. The Chiefs have have
- 18:49Speaker 1: scored forty points against the Patriots and sev and a
- 18:54Speaker 1: lot of the production, especially the last two years I
- 18:55Speaker 1: haven't gone back, has been Kareem Hunt. Okay. Now, Damian
- 19:00Speaker 1: Illiams who's in for cream Hunt, has done a good
- 19:01Speaker 1: job and he's caught the ball well and they've used
- 19:04Speaker 1: him a lot uh in empty formations this year. But
- 19:07Speaker 1: he he's having only seven yards of reception. Cream Hunt
- 19:10Speaker 1: average fourteen yards of reception. So that's been a big
- 19:13Speaker 1: key for them. So how do they find a way
- 19:15Speaker 1: to get that production at the backfield against the Patriots.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Obviously they see something on film which is the Patriots
- 19:20Speaker 1: linebackers are slow, um to exploit that. So wonder how
- 19:24Speaker 1: they do that this time around. I do think it's
- 19:27Speaker 1: weird as this is that the Tom Brady underdog factor.
- 19:30Speaker 1: He loves playing it. He played it again yesterday saying
- 19:32Speaker 1: I hear what the media says, um, but the Chief's
- 19:36Speaker 1: offense should score in my opinion at will unless the
- 19:39Speaker 1: Patriots do. What I said earlier about the Colts is
- 19:42Speaker 1: you have to stick to your game point, which is
- 19:44Speaker 1: run the football. The Chiefs run defense is atrocious. Okay, Um,
- 19:48Speaker 1: but the past offense is not half bad and they
- 19:50Speaker 1: rushed the pastor well, so how does New England control
- 19:52Speaker 1: the tempo in this game? Um are the keys for me?
- 19:55Speaker 1: I think the Chiefs will be final offense, even though
- 19:58Speaker 1: I mentioned the running back issues. Can they get enough
- 20:01Speaker 1: possessions to keep up if Tom Brady controls the clock
- 20:04Speaker 1: the entire game? I look, I can't wait to watch
- 20:06Speaker 1: this game. Obviously, I'm rooting for the Chiefs. I hope
- 20:08Speaker 1: they win, and like there'd be a prop obviously there's
- 20:13Speaker 1: no has your brother ever caught an NFL pass? Or
- 20:16Speaker 1: has he ever had a pass? They're not throwing him
- 20:18Speaker 1: the ball there, like like, could there be a prop
- 20:21Speaker 1: like he catches the first NFL But I'd be like,
- 20:24Speaker 1: I don't want. They don't think he's the right tackle.
- 20:26Speaker 1: They don't put him, they don't put him a tight
- 20:27Speaker 1: end and go on situations. And he would tell me
- 20:29Speaker 1: if they were doing that anyways, No, that would be
- 20:32Speaker 1: good insight in I should have I should I should
- 20:36Speaker 1: have more inside information from him, But he doesn't know.
- 20:38Speaker 1: He does a good job. He knows that that I
- 20:40Speaker 1: you know, I don't share what he what he tells me.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I knew a couple of things beforehand, not for not
- 20:44Speaker 1: for can't wait purposes, but just some things that were happening. Um,
- 20:48Speaker 1: I was able to break a couple of things that
- 20:50Speaker 1: weren't even we were in with the chiefs. Actually I
- 20:51Speaker 1: broke a story one time that was for the other team.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Before I move on, I want to talk to you

- 22:28Speaker 1: other things looking at kind of just some other props
- 22:30Speaker 1: around around football and one baseball. One. We'll get to
- 22:33Speaker 1: a secon all right, exact matchup for the Super Bowl. Um,
- 22:36Speaker 1: there's obviously four matchups. The one I like the best
- 22:39Speaker 1: guys and I can read them off. New Orleans, Kansas
- 22:42Speaker 1: City plus one, New England, New Orleans to sixty l
- 22:46Speaker 1: A Kansas City plus three, and New England and Los
- 22:49Speaker 1: Angeles plus four. Seven. I like Kansas City and the
- 22:52Speaker 1: Rams at plus obviously one home team one road team
- 22:56Speaker 1: win this weekend. Plus I have future bets on myself
- 23:00Speaker 1: for New England and UH and the Chiefs to win. Um,
- 23:03Speaker 1: you've New England the Saints to win their conferences, so
- 23:05Speaker 1: I can. I can obviously had just here, but I
- 23:07Speaker 1: like the Rams and the Chiefs for the s pet
- 23:11Speaker 1: what do you guys like? Yeah, I'm on, I'm on
- 23:14Speaker 1: the shop here sports seat. I got the Chiefs in
- 23:17Speaker 1: the Saints. I think they're the two best teams. I
- 23:19Speaker 1: think they've been the two best teams all year. I
- 23:21Speaker 1: think that's what we're looking at. Kansas City, New Orleans.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I love to see that matchup in that Dome in
- 23:27Speaker 1: Atlanta for the Super Bowl. Yeah, I'm gonna have to
- 23:32Speaker 1: go chalk to UH did I'll take that bet. Last
- 23:34Speaker 1: week and I thought, you know what, I think this
- 23:38Speaker 1: is the play Kansas City in in New Orleans because
- 23:41Speaker 1: when going into it, everybody loved Indianapolis and light Blackjack said,
- 23:45Speaker 1: if you'd just said this like four months ago, it
- 23:48Speaker 1: had been Kansas City probably in New Orleans, and it's
- 23:51Speaker 1: sort of stayed true to form. And then you go
- 23:53Speaker 1: look at the four quarterbacks that are in the in
- 23:56Speaker 1: the finals and there you know, two pretty good old
- 23:59Speaker 1: ones in two very good young ones. So pretty exciting.
- 24:02Speaker 1: You know. I feel like we have not had a
- 24:07Speaker 1: one verse one Super Bowl um in in in quite
- 24:11Speaker 1: a long time. Um So I do wonder if if
- 24:14Speaker 1: we need to look at that and think to ourselves,
- 24:16Speaker 1: um you know, maybe you know, I think twenty If
- 24:18Speaker 1: you look here, it looks at like there's no real
- 24:21Speaker 1: It looks like, um, I think was the last time
- 24:25Speaker 1: that we had that matchup, which was the Panthers, um
- 24:28Speaker 1: and uh and the Patriots and then you know what
- 24:30Speaker 1: happened in it looks like this is a bad website
- 24:34Speaker 1: to use, But it does not happen recently, I should say.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So I do like the chalk here and get value
- 24:40Speaker 1: at plus I'm going anyways with Chiefs and Rams at
- 24:44Speaker 1: plus three or another another problem to look at, and
- 24:47Speaker 1: this is I think a no brainer in my opinion.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Got a little juice here. Who will be the eagle
- 24:51Speaker 1: starter next year? Week one folds is plus three hundred,
- 24:54Speaker 1: wents is minus five hundred. I would have taken wents
- 24:57Speaker 1: no matter what happened this week, no matter what happened
- 24:59Speaker 1: to Super Bowl. That out there Wentz is the better player,
- 25:02Speaker 1: he's younger, he's a franchise's future. Wentz will start Week
- 25:05Speaker 1: one for the Eagles, no doubt about it. Black Check,
- 25:09Speaker 1: You're right he's going to Um, I'll disagree with what
- 25:13Speaker 1: you just said though about you know he should be.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I don't know that he should be, Jeff, I really don't. UM.
- 25:19Speaker 1: He is the better player. You're right, but I don't
- 25:22Speaker 1: know that he's the better player for that team. I
- 25:25Speaker 1: mean and Nick Foles. Listen, we talked about him being
- 25:28Speaker 1: younger and more athletic and all this. Nick Foles is
- 25:31Speaker 1: only twenty nine years old. Like, we're not talking about
- 25:34Speaker 1: a thirty five year old guy here. He's twenty nine.
- 25:36Speaker 1: He's got plenty of football left. And for whatever reason,
- 25:41Speaker 1: it's it's undeniable that team plays better with Foles under center.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I don't know what to do there. I mean, if
- 25:48Speaker 1: I know what they're going to do, they're going to
- 25:50Speaker 1: go with wins. But I'll be honest with you, I
- 25:53Speaker 1: think it's a mistake. I think Folds the better player
- 25:55Speaker 1: in that system. So let me explain the best I
- 25:58Speaker 1: can gather. And I've asked people round Philly about this.
- 26:01Speaker 1: But because I'm with you. I I don't. I can't
- 26:03Speaker 1: explain it, like there's no logical explanation. Well there is one,
- 26:06Speaker 1: and I'll say what it is. So Carson Wentz is
- 26:10Speaker 1: an awesome athlete, right, we know he can. He's built
- 26:13Speaker 1: like a like a quarterback, like like you want a
- 26:14Speaker 1: franchise quarterback. He's got a canon of an arm, he
- 26:17Speaker 1: has mobility, he's got accuracy, he's got everything you want.
- 26:20Speaker 1: But that also leads to a little bit of of
- 26:23Speaker 1: a detriment and the fact that he thinks he can
- 26:25Speaker 1: do everything all the time. He can be the hero
- 26:28Speaker 1: every single play. So he doesn't often do what the
- 26:32Speaker 1: play calls for, right, And he tries to make he
- 26:34Speaker 1: tries to make the big play. Nick Foles does exactly
- 26:37Speaker 1: what the coach tells him to do, all right, Nick
- 26:39Speaker 1: Cover two hit the tight end. Here, hits the tight end. Here,
- 26:42Speaker 1: Nick hit the slam here. Cover three hits the slam here. Right.
- 26:45Speaker 1: So that I think, to your point, black check is
- 26:48Speaker 1: what is what the feeling of the offense just looks
- 26:51Speaker 1: better is because it does it's more efficient with Nick
- 26:54Speaker 1: Foles because they do he does exactly what the play
- 26:58Speaker 1: tells him to do, and no more and no less,
- 27:01Speaker 1: and that's why it looks efficient. So maybe Carson Wentz
- 27:04Speaker 1: hopefully can take out of this the idea that I
- 27:07Speaker 1: need to do a little bit less. Maybe, And I
- 27:08Speaker 1: can still obviously take shots when I want to, but
- 27:12Speaker 1: let's calm down with trying to make the big play
- 27:14Speaker 1: every single time. That's the other part of it. And
- 27:17Speaker 1: like the calmness we talked about, Folds is sort of
- 27:21Speaker 1: like calm and short and uh and maybe Wentz is
- 27:24Speaker 1: a little bit more tense in the huddle. Uh. Possibly.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I mean, look, supposedly, Folds like journals before the game.
- 27:32Speaker 1: That's how he gets ready, which is short. Let me
- 27:35Speaker 1: let me ask you a question, because I find this.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I find this absolutely fascinating. He's, like I said, nine
- 27:42Speaker 1: years old. He is a year younger than Kirk Cousins. Right, Yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 1: I don't feel like people are talking about Nick Folds
- 27:50Speaker 1: pending free agency the way we talked about Kirk Cousins,
- 27:54Speaker 1: Like Folds is a better quarterback than Kirk Cuttin. Yeh,
- 27:57Speaker 1: where does he land swords? There's definitely it's the way
- 28:00Speaker 1: the NFL has always been. I don't wonder, I don't
- 28:02Speaker 1: know if it's the same way in baseball, PAULI, But
- 28:04Speaker 1: the NFL is very elitist with the way it views
- 28:07Speaker 1: players based on two things. Where you're drafted, so like
- 28:10Speaker 1: if your first round draft pick, you basically will always
- 28:12Speaker 1: get a job till your body just dies on you.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Like I mean, it's pretty remarkable. Like I was seventh
- 28:16Speaker 1: round draft pick and I did never got the benefit
- 28:19Speaker 1: of the doubt even though I was better than than
- 28:21Speaker 1: players drafted ahead of me in my same draft class,
- 28:23Speaker 1: because I was a seventh round draft pick. And Kirk
- 28:26Speaker 1: Cousins has looked at as a starting quarterback a right.
- 28:30Speaker 1: He took over for for RG three, so A he
- 28:32Speaker 1: has an advantage of a starting quarterback. Um, he wasn't
- 28:35Speaker 1: that how he drafted, but he was. He was. He
- 28:37Speaker 1: was drafted UM and played well kind of early on
- 28:40Speaker 1: right in a second year. So the draft status and
- 28:44Speaker 1: if you're viewed as a starter or not is a
- 28:46Speaker 1: huge deal. And he's viewed as an upper echelon starter,
- 28:49Speaker 1: which is debatable. And he got paid. And Nick Foles
- 28:52Speaker 1: is viewed as a backup even though I think he
- 28:54Speaker 1: was drafted higher. There was a third round draft pick
- 28:56Speaker 1: that than Cousins was, but he never was but he was.
- 28:58Speaker 1: He was a starter by the way, in gimmick gimmicky
- 29:01Speaker 1: offense with with with with chip Kelly, which hurts him,
- 29:04Speaker 1: I should say, um. And then he almost like wanted
- 29:07Speaker 1: to retire. So add those together, right, He's not viewed
- 29:11Speaker 1: as a starter by most NFL. He played a gimmicky
- 29:14Speaker 1: kind of offense with chip Kelly. He wanted to retire.
- 29:16Speaker 1: He's been a backup for so many years. Cousins On,
- 29:19Speaker 1: on the other hand, was a backup for one year,
- 29:21Speaker 1: took over for r G three, played really well, completes
- 29:24Speaker 1: a lot of passes, kind of looks good doing it,
- 29:27Speaker 1: and he get paid like he get paid like an
- 29:29Speaker 1: upper echelon quarterback. That's where the NFL is very archaic
- 29:33Speaker 1: in that manner. They don't really look at the player
- 29:35Speaker 1: at times. They look at the things around the player.
- 29:38Speaker 1: That's crazy to me, because this guy is a year
- 29:40Speaker 1: younger and he's a Super Bowl m v P and
- 29:42Speaker 1: does nothing but win games. If I were the Jacksonville Jaguars,
- 29:46Speaker 1: I'd be breaking his door down to get him there,
- 29:50Speaker 1: like the Denver Bronco, the New York Giants, the Black Check.
- 29:55Speaker 1: We've seen this movie before. I mean, sometimes you wonder
- 29:58Speaker 1: the richest men in the world a are the stupidest
- 30:00Speaker 1: people in the world are because that's why you hire
- 30:04Speaker 1: a GM that's why you hired we all forget Matt
- 30:08Speaker 1: Flynn came in through for five yards, got a giant
- 30:11Speaker 1: contract out of football. I mean football is what have
- 30:14Speaker 1: you done for me lately? It's the biggest league when
- 30:17Speaker 1: it comes to that. I mean like baseball when you
- 30:20Speaker 1: mentioned shorts, like a kid can come up from the
- 30:23Speaker 1: minor leagues hit nine home runs in seven games. He's
- 30:26Speaker 1: not gonna get paid. He's still got four or five
- 30:28Speaker 1: more years to prove himself. A guy like Matt Flynn
- 30:31Speaker 1: sat on the sidelines two for five yards, boom, got
- 30:34Speaker 1: that contract. There's been games that were guys just do
- 30:38Speaker 1: this and that. For some reason, people think Nick Foles
- 30:41Speaker 1: can't play a fifteen or sixteen game season full season.
- 30:45Speaker 1: And there are guys that are like that. There's guys
- 30:47Speaker 1: that you play with in baseball, especially that hit like
- 30:53Speaker 1: two eight or two ninety with only like Twitter Bazin,
- 30:56Speaker 1: people go, well, why doesn't he play every day? Well,
- 30:59Speaker 1: you know what, he hits lefties very well, so he
- 31:01Speaker 1: plays against lefties about eighty percent of the times and
- 31:04Speaker 1: if you played him against right, he's the other eighty
- 31:06Speaker 1: percent of times, he'd probably a two fifty hitters. So
- 31:08Speaker 1: he's not an everyday player. He is a a great,
- 31:12Speaker 1: you know, spot player here and there. And I think
- 31:15Speaker 1: for some reason, Nick Foles has just been labeled that.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I guess so I'm glad you brought up Matt Flynn.
- 31:19Speaker 1: And that's what scares people away from Nick Foles is
- 31:22Speaker 1: we don't often see a a guy who's been a
- 31:27Speaker 1: backup as much as Nick Foles has been become a
- 31:29Speaker 1: successful NFL starter, right, like Aaron Rodgers. Every one points too,
- 31:32Speaker 1: but he was a backup for three years, never really played,
- 31:34Speaker 1: and then obviously was allowed to play eventually. You know,
- 31:37Speaker 1: Jimmy Garoppolo is the guy that we look at and
- 31:38Speaker 1: say that that that's kind of nick foles thing. Right,
- 31:40Speaker 1: you're backup quite a few years, and Nick Foles was
- 31:42Speaker 1: a starter and then you become it doesn't happen. I
- 31:45Speaker 1: think people worry that it could be more Matt Flynn
- 31:48Speaker 1: than anything else. He plays with a great offensive line,
- 31:50Speaker 1: now good weapons, a great play called, or a great coach.
- 31:53Speaker 1: And if you go to Jacksonville with a different offensive line,
- 31:56Speaker 1: not not not the weapons. Are you going to be
- 31:58Speaker 1: the same guy? That's that's, in my opinion, is what
- 32:00Speaker 1: people worry about. All right, last last topic, and I'm
- 32:04Speaker 1: glad we have Paul here to talk about this. This
- 32:05Speaker 1: is pretty wild in my opinion. Kyler Murray, the Heisman
- 32:08Speaker 1: winning quarterback of the Oklahoma Sooners, also the ninth pick
- 32:12Speaker 1: overall by the Oakland Athletics, has a decision to make
- 32:16Speaker 1: the NFL draft. Deadline for early entry um is tomorrow,
- 32:21Speaker 1: um and um. He has to choose between football and baseball.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Now he in baseball, he had a signing bonus about
- 32:30Speaker 1: four and a half five million dollars in the National
- 32:32Speaker 1: Football League. If he's a first round draft pick, he
- 32:34Speaker 1: will make more money than he would in baseball, at
- 32:37Speaker 1: least for the first four years of his NFL wife
- 32:39Speaker 1: and his first four years of his baseball If that's
- 32:41Speaker 1: that's that's indisputable. It's and and if he were to
- 32:44Speaker 1: go to the NFL draft, he would be a first
- 32:47Speaker 1: round draft pick. He would not leave. He would not
- 32:48Speaker 1: leave baseball for the NFL if he wasn't a first
- 32:51Speaker 1: round draft pick. But here's the interesting part. He told
- 32:53Speaker 1: Oakland a's I will come back for fifteen million dollars,
- 32:57Speaker 1: which is great. He's got leverage, used the leverage as
- 32:59Speaker 1: you can. But to make that happen, they would have
- 33:02Speaker 1: to offer him a big league contract in the mayor leagues,
- 33:05Speaker 1: which is very rare. Has to get permission from Major
- 33:08Speaker 1: League Baseball to do so. Major League Baseball supposedly has
- 33:10Speaker 1: granted permission for that. So, PAULI, what I don't understand
- 33:13Speaker 1: here is he's not like an amazing player in college.
- 33:17Speaker 1: He's he's a projection, right. They project him to be
- 33:20Speaker 1: a you know, outfielder who's tools and whatnot, not maybe
- 33:23Speaker 1: a power guy. Why would they go out of their
- 33:26Speaker 1: way to pay him a big league contract? Is it
- 33:28Speaker 1: just because of his star name? Well, there's a lot
- 33:31Speaker 1: to go in with it. When you sign a big
- 33:32Speaker 1: league contract and it's still you still can go to
- 33:35Speaker 1: the minor leagues, they still have control over you. So
- 33:37Speaker 1: you know, he'll probably would start in a ball and
- 33:40Speaker 1: would he'd probably be buying the spread almost every night.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Those guys will be making eight hundred and fifty dollars
- 33:46Speaker 1: to about hundred a month, and he's gonna be making
- 33:49Speaker 1: about whatever four point something million um in Bakersfield say
- 33:54Speaker 1: something like that. Be crazy. His his single a team
- 33:57Speaker 1: by the ways in Vermont to So it's a very
- 34:04Speaker 1: interesting point. I mean because he I always tell people, Um,
- 34:10Speaker 1: college baseball is probably the equivalent of double A, maybe
- 34:13Speaker 1: a little bit less. Okay, now you've got to adjust
- 34:17Speaker 1: to a wooden bat, which now these kids do use
- 34:20Speaker 1: wooden bats a lot, but they don't use them every
- 34:22Speaker 1: day against pictures from all over the world. You gotta
- 34:25Speaker 1: remember now you're entering a world or pictures from Venezuela
- 34:29Speaker 1: to the Netherlands, the Dominican um from Puerto Rico, from
- 34:34Speaker 1: countries uh um that you've never faced that are pretty dark, nasty,
- 34:38Speaker 1: and all of them throw over ninety. So for me,
- 34:42Speaker 1: his struggle would be a lot harder to get to
- 34:45Speaker 1: the big leagues. Um, I've seen a lot of first
- 34:48Speaker 1: round draft picks not even get out of a ball
- 34:50Speaker 1: or double A. So throwing his hat and a ring
- 34:53Speaker 1: and to be a top five draft pick in the NFL,
- 34:56Speaker 1: I think it's a no brainer for him to go
- 34:57Speaker 1: to the NFL, even with his size. Um that he
- 35:00Speaker 1: might not succeed, I think the money will be there.
- 35:04Speaker 1: But here's the other part about d MLB, the money
- 35:07Speaker 1: is guaranteed either way, and if he goes to the NFL,
- 35:12Speaker 1: baseball could always be there for him. Where if he
- 35:16Speaker 1: goes to the the MLB, I don't know if NFL will
- 35:19Speaker 1: always be there for him, you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 35:21Speaker 1: PAULI really quick before we get to Blackjack's comments on this. So,
- 35:25Speaker 1: so you're you're in the minor leagues, you come to
- 35:27Speaker 1: the big leagues. How many years but in the big
- 35:29Speaker 1: leagues before arbitration starts? And then how many arbitration years
- 35:32Speaker 1: do you have? And then when do you get the
- 35:33Speaker 1: free agency? If you could give like a quick summary
- 35:35Speaker 1: on that, well, it depends along even but usually it's
- 35:38Speaker 1: like three or four years. It was the reason why
- 35:40Speaker 1: I signed a contract early before. Some guys try to
- 35:44Speaker 1: wait it out and go year by year. And so, um,
- 35:47Speaker 1: even if he went straight to the big leagues, they
- 35:49Speaker 1: have control over him for two or three years. And
- 35:51Speaker 1: that they're they're called options, and you can get sent
- 35:53Speaker 1: down up and down, um and this and that. So
- 35:59Speaker 1: space all just has more control over you. And like
- 36:02Speaker 1: I get it, his leverage with with this and that
- 36:05Speaker 1: maybe his love is baseball. And listen, you're still a
- 36:09Speaker 1: first round pick, you have to have a ton of
- 36:10Speaker 1: talent um. Maybe he is that good, but you still
- 36:15Speaker 1: need as a hitter. It's different as a pitcher. Okay,
- 36:17Speaker 1: if he was a talented pitcher as a first round pick,
- 36:20Speaker 1: you can make the transition straight to the big leagues.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Where an outfielder and you need to learn a lot
- 36:27Speaker 1: of different things and learn the wooden bat. It just
- 36:29Speaker 1: takes longer as a as a position player. That's a
- 36:32Speaker 1: great question, Blockchack. What do you think you should do.
- 36:36Speaker 1: It's a tough call for me, Jeff, because you know
- 36:38Speaker 1: my my initial instinct in these spots is to say
- 36:41Speaker 1: play baseball, because you know you can usually have a
- 36:44Speaker 1: longer career. There's no salary cap. If you're really good,
- 36:47Speaker 1: I think your career earnings can be higher. It's obviously
- 36:50Speaker 1: probably better for your health. But there's a difference. Tip
- 36:54Speaker 1: you're going to be a first round quarterback, then you
- 36:58Speaker 1: know if you're gonna be uh some guy drafted in
- 37:01Speaker 1: the fourth or fifth round. Concern with Tyler Murray going
- 37:04Speaker 1: to the NFL is his size. I mean we're talking
- 37:07Speaker 1: about the smallest quarterback since Doug Flutie. I mean five
- 37:12Speaker 1: is this isn't six ft, saying, you know, Baker Mayfield
- 37:15Speaker 1: and Drew Brees are short, this is really short. I
- 37:19Speaker 1: mean that What do you think is is that is
- 37:21Speaker 1: a five quarterback a legit player the NFL time outwards?
- 37:26Speaker 1: Is he five nine in the program? Well, that's the question.
- 37:29Speaker 1: So because I'm five five ten in the program my
- 37:32Speaker 1: whole life and I'm not right, So that that's the question.
- 37:36Speaker 1: So most people believe he'll be five eight to combine, Um,
- 37:40Speaker 1: it's it's not It's not even the way, and it's
- 37:43Speaker 1: not even the height. It's his weight too. He's all
- 37:45Speaker 1: like like like Russell Wilson, by the way, is short,
- 37:46Speaker 1: right at least five eleven five ten. He's also like
- 37:49Speaker 1: he's built very well. Kyler Murray is not. And so
- 37:52Speaker 1: the question is will he get hurt the National Football League?
- 37:55Speaker 1: I I think he would. Now the question when smaller
- 37:58Speaker 1: quarterbacks you get to is how do you see the
- 38:00Speaker 1: passing lines with big offensive linement At Oklahoma? He was
- 38:03Speaker 1: fine with that. They have big hosses to Oklahoma. Look
- 38:05Speaker 1: and Riley found windows for him, um to to you know,
- 38:08Speaker 1: to to throw the ball. But you have to basically
- 38:11Speaker 1: be in shotgun the whole game, which a lot of
- 38:12Speaker 1: teams do now anyways in the NFL, Like the Chiefs,
- 38:16Speaker 1: by the way, are like seventy shotgun now that that's
- 38:18Speaker 1: basically their offense. Um, so I think he would get hurt. Um,
- 38:25Speaker 1: But if he is a pocket guy, if he can
- 38:27Speaker 1: stay in the pocket, that's less chance to get hurt. Right,
- 38:29Speaker 1: You You only hurt when you run the ball for
- 38:31Speaker 1: the most part. But if he's five eight, I don't
- 38:34Speaker 1: know if he's a first round draft pick? Yeah right,
- 38:38Speaker 1: I mean like that's the other part about it. Now
- 38:42Speaker 1: you talked about does he do this? Does he do that? Now?
- 38:44Speaker 1: Does he have to go through the combine? Or would
- 38:46Speaker 1: he didn't even go through the combine? No? He got
- 38:49Speaker 1: now does now? Does his draft status go down? Now?
- 38:52Speaker 1: Does he play with like black jack? And saying now
- 38:55Speaker 1: is he's messing around with the contract? He's he's already
- 38:58Speaker 1: been the first round pick. He's he's already a first
- 39:01Speaker 1: round picking baseball. So that's almost like having the girl
- 39:05Speaker 1: in the corner that's sort of hot, but you're going
- 39:07Speaker 1: for the hotter girl over there in the other corner,
- 39:09Speaker 1: but you already got the girl that's really that's sort
- 39:10Speaker 1: of hot already locked up. It does sound very much
- 39:14Speaker 1: what I mean, Yeah, it does sound very much like
- 39:18Speaker 1: like if he like if he were to get if
- 39:21Speaker 1: he were to end up getting, um, the fifteen million
- 39:25Speaker 1: dollars from UM the a C played baseball. That's what
- 39:28Speaker 1: it feels like it's happening. I mean, it'd be tough
- 39:31Speaker 1: to pass it, really would. I mean, and and the
- 39:34Speaker 1: A's given him that much money. UM. It might not happen.
- 39:40Speaker 1: He might not be in the big leagues in a
- 39:41Speaker 1: year or or two years, but they're going to give
- 39:44Speaker 1: him every opportunity. And here's the thing. I would think
- 39:46Speaker 1: the major league contract is gonna have in the contract
- 39:49Speaker 1: that he will get called up every September. So regardless
- 39:52Speaker 1: of he's hitting one A D and a ball, he's
- 39:54Speaker 1: gonna get called up and be with the A's at
- 39:56Speaker 1: the end of the year. UM, which will help him.
- 39:59Speaker 1: UM saying he's going to get pushed to the big
- 40:01Speaker 1: leagues no matter what because they're investing that money in him,
- 40:05Speaker 1: so eventually he'll get there. Any last words, fellows, Blackjack,
- 40:11Speaker 1: Paulie and he and he bets you on this week,
- 40:13Speaker 1: any any words of wisdom before we got out of here.
- 40:15Speaker 1: How the Knights champion. Yeah, I took a hundred of
- 40:19Speaker 1: Chad Noman dollars this weekend. It was the best thing
- 40:23Speaker 1: you must do. You must do. Uh took took him
- 40:27Speaker 1: away from the podcast. He doesn't like me and Schwartz anymore. Yeah,
- 40:30Speaker 1: he's he's just he's he's too busy. He's really his
- 40:33Speaker 1: manch in Connecticut. He's just enjoying another quiet morning, just
- 40:36Speaker 1: probably sepping his coffee on Block's Knights at Aquanette. He
- 40:39Speaker 1: puts in his hair. Probably. What are you guys gonna
- 40:44Speaker 1: do for your show Friday? You gotta, you gotta. We
- 40:46Speaker 1: have two games to argue about. You have to find
- 40:49Speaker 1: something to argue about props. You's gonna argue about props
- 40:51Speaker 1: for thirty minutes, Jeff, we could argue about the weather,
- 40:55Speaker 1: that is true. Does he like I mean, when he
- 40:58Speaker 1: takes off his glasses fear? Does he think he's fierce
- 41:01Speaker 1: when he takes him off to every He's done with
- 41:02Speaker 1: his argument. I don't know what he thinks. He thinks
- 41:06Speaker 1: he's intimidating or funny, You're witty or intelligent? He's none
