- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:11Life is fleeting. Life is short, too short.
- 0:14So you got to use every moment you have to do something that
- 0:18makes you feel alive. And that shit that would spread
- 0:21that message far and wide. Welcome to What's Your Least
- 0:24Favorite Scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:27the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd, and all of our
- 0:29favorite and least favorite scary movies.
- 0:31Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has this fan
- 0:34base. Even if we don't always get it
- 0:35my. Name is Travis.
- 0:36My name is Jesse and welcome, Welcome to our Patreon voted
- 0:39pick for March. We are talking about Ball.
- 0:44But first an announcement. We did our To Be or not to Be
- 0:47this past weekend. Yes we did.
- 0:48It was on the 2019 Canadian indie instant classic Aqua
- 0:53Slash. Yeah, it was a good time.
- 0:55It was a good time. So if you wanted it, if you want
- 0:57to get in that spring mood, then go.
- 1:00For it, I have another announcement.
- 1:03We remembered to do a poll. Yesterday we did.
- 1:06And we kind of did A2 for one make up for forgetting one the
- 1:10week before. That's absolutely true.
- 1:12We have. Would you rather merge or fight
- 1:15the strangers? OK, I believe that I used the
- 1:18phrase be together. You there's a character limit
- 1:22for polls and I had to resold this and be able to actually ask
- 1:25the question. OK.
- 1:26So yeah, And look, this is going to seem like a not a lot of
- 1:30participation, a lot of votes, but all of the same vote.
- 1:33So it was 100% taking on the strangers versus merging with
- 1:39somebody. Oh, I would merge with you
- 1:41before I would merge with you. Too.
- 1:43Yeah, I think that we would make a good team.
- 1:45We would we would make a good person, yeah.
- 1:48And then we would go fight the. Strangers.
- 1:52But the strangers, would they fight us because.
- 1:55We're. Clearly, we're clearly in a good
- 1:57place. We're the We are, and we are the
- 2:00strength of two people. Yeah, and they are three, but we
- 2:02are two, and that is, for some reason, scarier.
- 2:06Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:07Exactly. All right, So that was that.
- 2:10So, all right, we're back, baby. Let's fucking go.
- 2:13Let's talk about fall. So fall release August 12th,
- 2:172022. We watched it on Netflix.
- 2:20That's the only place where you can stream it right now if
- 2:22you're in the US, but you can also rent it from YouTube,
- 2:24Google TV, Apple TV, or Fandango at home.
- 2:27Written by Jonathan Frank and Scott Mann, Directed by Scott
- 2:31Mann, music by Tim Despic and special effects makeup by Ali
- 2:34Shehorn. Starring Grace Caroline Curry as
- 2:38Becky Connor, Virginia Gardner as Shiloh Hunter, Mason Gooding.
- 2:42It's Dan Connor and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as James Connor.
- 2:45Now, I know you're sitting here and you're gonna say, wait, I
- 2:49thought Connor was Becky's married name.
- 2:52You are correct. That is Connor.
- 2:53Connor. Her maiden name is Connor
- 2:57Conner. What for real?
- 3:02Yes. Wow, OK.
- 3:04And you know what? I can't judge too much because
- 3:07my grandma's maiden name was the same as her married name.
- 3:09Very common last name. I mean, that's convenient for
- 3:12you, if that. Happens.
- 3:13My mom got treated like a fucking idiot every time she
- 3:15would fill out forms and be like, no, we need your mother's
- 3:18maiden name. And she'd be like, yeah, it was
- 3:20the same name. It's like the most common
- 3:22certain name in the country. Yeah, figure it out.
- 3:26OK. Interesting.
- 3:27Yeah. Also question, is Hunter the
- 3:31same person that plays Vicki from Halloween?
- 3:34Yep, that's what I thought. And again, I thought that kept
- 3:38coming through my head last night, even though he's like,
- 3:40not really in the movie a lot. But Mesa Gooden Junior for a
- 3:43while. I see.
- 3:43That's the thing. I kept putting Junior out there.
- 3:45Like, that's not his dad's name. His dad's name is Cuba.
- 3:48Cuba. So like, where's the junior keep
- 3:51coming from? It's just because I keep
- 3:52thinking of Cuba. Yeah, I don't know why I always
- 3:55want to say Cuba and say Cuba. Cuba.
- 3:57Daba. Yeah.
- 4:00Yeah, no, also, I feel like Grace, Caroline Curry, she there
- 4:04were so many shots where she looks dead on, like Sophie and
- 4:08Elise. Who's that?
- 4:09She is one of the teenage stars for Yellow Jackets.
- 4:13Are you talking about the person that plays Becky?
- 4:15Yes, OK, yeah, she like, there's so many shots where I'm like, I
- 4:19know it's not her. She's a dead ringer.
- 4:22There are a lot of times where I looked at her and I'm like that.
- 4:25She looks like she has a different face, the scene, and I
- 4:28don't know what it was. I don't know if it's the
- 4:29lighting or what. I know what it is.
- 4:31What is it? Oh, just you wait.
- 4:33Oh, OK. Just you wait.
- 4:36Just you wait. I'm.
- 4:38Curious. OK, but first we have to play
- 4:41our favorite game. Budget or bug, Ted?
- 4:45Well, it seems indie, but it also feels like you have to have
- 4:51some money to be able to tell this kind of story.
- 4:53But I'm going to go bug Ted. Do you want to give a range
- 4:57estimate? 5 million. 3 million.
- 5:00Oh, OK. Yeah, yeah.
- 5:01So it had an opening box office of 2.5 million and a worldwide
- 5:04gross of 18,000,000 I. Feel like, did this actually
- 5:07come out in theaters around us 'cause I don't remember seeing
- 5:10it ever. I don't.
- 5:11Remember either, but you have to remember 2022 was such a banger
- 5:15fucking year for horror that. That's true, I forgot about.
- 5:18That it's just easy to forget how many movies came out.
- 5:20Yeah, that's true. That's a good point. 6.4 out of
- 5:2410 on IMDb. All right, solid.
- 5:26My theme for 2022 because again, there's a lot to pick from.
- 5:30So I was like, let's see, let's see some common themes that were
- 5:32happening and I decided to go with with friends like these.
- 5:36Oh, OK. All right.
- 5:37Because you know what? Hunter seems like maybe she's a
- 5:40good friend for Becky until you learn that she's actually not
- 5:44the. Worst friend probably.
- 5:45Turns out Becky doesn't see red flags because all she does is
- 5:49wear her rose colored glasses. For everybody in her.
- 5:51Life, yes. Yeah, except for her dad.
- 5:54Fuck you for being supportive, Dad.
- 5:57Wait, no, Dad did say some bad things to her.
- 5:59Too. Yeah, that was not good.
- 6:00Wait, was Dad? Was Dad an actor that we know?
- 6:04Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Was he?
- 6:05He's Negan. That's Negan.
- 6:07Yeah, yeah, Yeah. OK.
- 6:08Negan. Negan OK, so the first movie.
- 6:12Bodies, Bodies, bodies. Yeah.
- 6:14OK. Yeah, just toxic.
- 6:17So toxic. So toxic release August 12th,
- 6:222022, same weekend. Yeah, some.
- 6:24That's probably why we were like, gonna go see buddies
- 6:27buddies, buddy. We did, yeah.
- 6:30I don't have a budget for that one.
- 6:31It does have a worldwide gross of 13.9 million and an IMDb
- 6:35score 6.2 out of 10. If you want to carry our full
- 6:37thoughts on that movie, we have covered it on the shelf.
- 6:39Yeah, we did. Yeah, second movie Pearl.
- 6:44Pearl is the bad friend to the sister-in-law who is just trying
- 6:48to be kind to her while she's out there fucking around on her
- 6:51husband. OK, her brother.
- 6:54Yeah, trying to help her, like, hey, like you can audition for
- 6:56this thing too, you know, like, help.
- 6:58Here's a suckling tag that my wants to give you.
- 7:01No, we're just gonna let it rot there, OK?
- 7:05So Pro released September 16th, 2022, don't have a budget for
- 7:09that either but it made 9.8 million and an IMDb score of
- 7:13seven point O out of 10. Once again, we have covered that
- 7:16on the show. You can listen to your thoughts.
- 7:18Yep. Third one we actually haven't
- 7:20covered yet and I say yet cuz we will someday.
- 7:23OK, talk. To me.
- 7:26Which actually generally, I do think that the those really
- 7:30close family friendships, those dynamics get really muddied at
- 7:34times. But yeah, it's really shitty to
- 7:37use your friend's little brother, who is basically your
- 7:39little brother, as a conduit to. Bad people.
- 7:42Yeah. That was the one of the things
- 7:44like, I don't like that movie and it was a lot because
- 7:48everybody was so unlikable. Yeah.
- 7:50I didn't like a single character.
- 7:52In that movie, part of the reason we haven't talked about
- 7:54it because I know you didn't really like it, but I really
- 7:56liked it. But also it's really sad and I'm
- 8:00I had a rough time getting through fall last night because
- 8:02of some of the stuff. So I was just like, I feel like
- 8:05we need to, we need to wait for the time to.
- 8:08But Talk to Me. Released at the Adelaide Film
- 8:10Festival on October 30th, 2022. Budget of 4.5 million.
- 8:14Worldwide gross of 92 million. IMDb scores 7.1 out of.
- 8:18Ten, Oh Lord. Of two tag lines.
- 8:21OK, year reaches new heights. OK.
- 8:26It's actually. Pretty good, not bad, yeah.
- 8:28The problem is that we recorded our TV and ought to be right
- 8:30before this, and that was probably the best tagline we've
- 8:32ever heard on the show, yeah. It was a lot of.
- 8:34Slicker than water. It was solid.
- 8:36So good. Yeah.
- 8:38The sag and tagline dropping soon.
- 8:43OK, not bad. I'll allow it.
- 8:45Yeah, Yeah. OK, so I have some fun fight.
- 8:49So this movie is actually intended as a short film.
- 8:52Man was inspired while talking off camera while he was filming
- 8:56an action film in the UK called Final.
- 9:00They were doing some filming in an arena, so they were up high
- 9:05and they just got talking about fear of heights and fear of
- 9:09falling and all of that, and that's kind of where the idea
- 9:11came from. Gotcha.
- 9:13This was filmed in IMAX format. They were in the Shadow
- 9:16Mountains of the Mojave Desert in California.
- 9:20The the tower. The B67 tower itself is a
- 9:24fictional tower, but it is based off of a real one.
- 9:28It's the KXTVKVOR Tower, which is a radio tower in Walnut
- 9:32Grove, CA. It is 2490 feet tall.
- 9:37I looked it up. What's the Wikipedia page with
- 9:40the tallest structures in the world?
- 9:42It was 8th on the list, Yeah, so.
- 9:46That's 400 feet higher than the one in this movie, because the
- 9:49one in this movie is just 2000 feet. 49 feet higher. 49 Oh, I
- 9:54thought. 2049. 49 OK, Yeah, wow. OK.
- 9:57Yeah. And so they consider doing green
- 10:02screen and digital sets, but what they ended up doing instead
- 10:04was they built the top part of the tower and they put it on top
- 10:08of a mountain. So when they were doing that
- 10:10filming, like it looked like they were way higher up than
- 10:12they actually. Were that's smart.
- 10:13Yeah, and actually, believe it or not, Gracie and Virginia were
- 10:17both offered stunt double s, but they opted to do the stunts
- 10:20themselves. Wow.
- 10:21Yeah, so I think it's it's scary, but it's also like really
- 10:24bad ass. Them.
- 10:25Well, yeah, because I mean, they have to do some crazy stuff like
- 10:28swinging on the ropes and stuff, you know?
- 10:30Yeah, I wonder how they film that stuff.
- 10:32I don't know. Because she like, has to land on
- 10:34the satellite, you know? Yeah, I don't, I do not know how
- 10:37they did all of that stuff because I was, unfortunately, I
- 10:39was just reading this. This isn't one that we own.
- 10:41So I was just, you know, reading some of this background
- 10:43information. I wish we could have seen behind
- 10:44the scenes through some of this filming.
- 10:46I would love to, yeah. Maybe there's videos of it
- 10:48online. Yeah, I would hope so.
- 10:49I'm curious. And then because they did have
- 10:52to build a structure, I mean, it's still pretty high.
- 10:54It wasn't that high, but, you know, they did still have to
- 10:57deal with like weather issues like lightning and wind.
- 11:00So they were still facing all of those elements as well.
- 11:05So here's where we get to kind of the ickiness of it and what
- 11:12you were talking about, about how sometimes their faces didn't
- 11:14seem like their faces. So Lionsgate ended up deciding
- 11:19to be the distributor. Like they signed on for it, but
- 11:21they wanted it to be PG13 instead of ours, that we would
- 11:24have a broader audience and it could make more money.
- 11:26The problem was the original cut of the film had had more than 30
- 11:29fucks, which is not allowed in PG13 and it was determined that
- 11:35reshoots would be too expensive. So what they did was they
- 11:41became. Fall became the first project to
- 11:43use a company called Flawless, which was established by Nick
- 11:47Lyons and Scott Mann. Same Scott Mann.
- 11:49That's the director to do a deep fake and re dub of the
- 11:56actresses. What instances where they said
- 11:59fuck and change them to things like freaking?
- 12:01Are you fucking kidding me? That's gross.
- 12:04I don't like that. Yeah.
- 12:06Deduction automatically right there.
- 12:07Yeah. Don't like it?
- 12:08Yep. Just to save money.
- 12:10Fuck. That Yeah.
- 12:11Oh, save money. Except actually make Scott Mann
- 12:14more money, because that's his company.
- 12:16Oh, that's so gross. It's icky.
- 12:18I hate that so much. Yeah, that that I was like, man,
- 12:21I wish I could have not not read this information because that
- 12:25taints this movie a little. That makes me feel good though,
- 12:28for not being crazy, for thinking that the faces look
- 12:31weird for some reason. Yeah, no, you were absolutely
- 12:34correct that the the faces did have those weird moments and
- 12:37that's why. Because I didn't expect, I
- 12:39thought it was just a lighting situation.
- 12:40Like wow, I that that actually kind of blows my mind that they
- 12:44did that. Yeah, that's.
- 12:45Yeah. And especially like now we're AI
- 12:48is such a huge, like it's a catastrophic concern.
- 12:52And I am not exaggerating that it is eating up our water
- 12:57resources. It's being used to emotionally,
- 13:01physically, financially harm people.
- 13:04Yeah. Like I am begging you all if you
- 13:07do those little like photo edit things on social media like it's
- 13:11not worth it. It's fucking it is.
- 13:14Not worth it if you use ChatGPT. Stop.
- 13:18It is not worth it. Yeah, I just, it's not good.
- 13:22I I hate the entirety of it. It's just, you know, I hate, I
- 13:28hate this fucking world. It sucks.
- 13:30Well, the good news is that the rate we're going, we won't have
- 13:33to be here much longer. That's true.
- 13:35You know, it would be even better if this actually was like
- 13:38Terminator shit. You know, I'll give me that over
- 13:42what's happening right now. I don't give a fuck.
- 13:45OK, All right. So I guess I needed some to talk
- 13:48about this movie then. Yeah.
- 13:49Well, sorry I had to end on that note, but that was really the
- 13:52best place to kind of add that information in at.
- 13:56That's fine. I don't have any fun facts to
- 13:58sprinkle through as we go. Well, OK, that's fine.
- 14:00Let's sprinkle in some fun then. OK All right.
- 14:03Well, the good. This movie is incredibly tense,
- 14:06so I will give it credit. I am afraid of heights.
- 14:10Yeah. So this movie hits me and they
- 14:13sell that vibe and so well in this movie, and it helps that
- 14:18they've actually filmed it out in the desert like that.
- 14:20I'm sorry to have to reference my asshole in two back-to-back
- 14:24episodes, but it was so tight at hurt watching this like it was I
- 14:28felt. Sick.
- 14:29This is like the sweaty pond movie right here.
- 14:32Like this is and it it's so fucking effective.
- 14:36Like if you have a fear of heights, you're gonna have a bad
- 14:39time, but a good time if that's what you like in these types of
- 14:42movies. This is what I want whenever I
- 14:44want to watch thriller or horror movie like this right here.
- 14:47I want to be a little bit tense, and I'm really happy that I did
- 14:52that. So that's really cool.
- 14:54The acting's good. You know, they got a good cast
- 14:56here. How like the people, there's not
- 14:59a lot to meet on this movie. It's the thing.
- 15:01So like that you have to hinge on like the moments and the
- 15:06performances. Yeah.
- 15:07And you know, those are pretty good, pretty consistent.
- 15:09So that's really all I can say. Like they they succeeded at
- 15:13that. So I'll give them credit there.
- 15:15They did a good job with that. Yeah, I know.
- 15:18I I absolutely agree because it oh, it's so the shots are so
- 15:24sickening and it's oh, it's so bad.
- 15:27They did a great job making it look real.
- 15:31The the relationships like we don't get more background than
- 15:35we need on them. And I think that's fine because
- 15:37we get the emotion of it, that twist at the end, which if
- 15:44you're listening now, here comes spoilers where we find out God,
- 15:49I want to call her Vicky when we find out Hunter actually didn't
- 15:53catch the backpack. While on one hand more
- 15:57realistic, on the other hand it's like oh shit I thought we
- 16:01were just suspending disbelief. Yeah, I've got some other
- 16:04thoughts on that. You know, I'll go into that
- 16:08myself here in the world. But yeah, I just think like, I
- 16:14think it's a pretty solid little, little movie.
- 16:18Yeah. You know, I, I love a stuck in a
- 16:19location type of movie. Yeah, so and this one especially
- 16:23like the fact that the the little precipice that they're on
- 16:25is so tiny. Yes, it's claustrophobic, and
- 16:29it's also just you have the height situation.
- 16:32Yeah, there's a lot of scary situations happening here.
- 16:35Yeah, like the vultures are trying to attack while they're
- 16:37up there. Oh my God, trying to eat her leg
- 16:39while she's still alive. Yeah, like they know when people
- 16:42are dying and creatures are dying and, and like the fact
- 16:45that they're just like being that blatant, uh huh.
- 16:47That's, that's gonna be Cordelia.
- 16:49If we die or almost die in the house like she will be the first
- 16:52one to start to eat us. She'll fly at your head just
- 16:55like the vultures sit in. This right here.
- 16:57Yeah. Her and Zoe do that every
- 16:58morning anyway. They do.
- 17:00They go after our heads. They're a whole fucking asshole.
- 17:03Vultures. These fuckers, fuckers listen,
- 17:06you need to just listen to our TV or not to be episode.
- 17:09Yeah, we're not that mad at the cats.
- 17:12Yeah. All right.
- 17:13That's so, Yeah. OK.
- 17:16Well I I didn't really care for that twist because it basically
- 17:21made like 90% of that situation not happen.
- 17:27Well The thing is is if you cuz I went into it this time knowing
- 17:30about the twist. I forgot about it.
- 17:32I had forgotten about it again. See, I was paying more attention
- 17:35to it this time. So there are like everything
- 17:38that she's doing, there's some excuses to why Hunter is not
- 17:41helping. So like Hunter hurt her hands so
- 17:45she can't climb up. So Becky has to be the one to
- 17:47pull her up because her hands are hurt again.
- 17:50It has to be Becky that goes up and charges the drone.
- 17:53So she actually did all this stuff.
- 17:55Yeah, she was just like, like Hunter imagination.
- 17:59Hunter was just, like cheering her on, basically.
- 18:01Like, and there's even one point where she's sitting there and
- 18:03like, she's like, you got to stay awake, Becky.
- 18:05Like, talk about some good memories with your dad.
- 18:08And like, a hunter who doesn't watch WWE knows the lore of Mick
- 18:12Foley. She's like, how did you know
- 18:14that? I thought she was just being a
- 18:16secret fan or something like that.
- 18:19Yeah, yeah. But that's when I was looking
- 18:22for it this time and really paying attention to that.
- 18:25It made more sense, and this movie doesn't do what a lot of
- 18:29movies with twists like that, where it's like we're gonna
- 18:31flashback and show all of these things where you did a balloon.
- 18:34Yeah, see, I didn't know if she actually did them or not.
- 18:36So you're saying she did still do all this stuff?
- 18:39Yes. Okay, well, I guess it does kind
- 18:41of change it a little bit. I just don't like the ending.
- 18:44I wanted to see how she got down because I'm like how the fuck
- 18:46are you going to rescue her? Like what's the rescue situation
- 18:49look like? Because can you fly a helicopter
- 18:53that close? I don't think so.
- 18:55Like do you risk getting your blade caught on the pole?
- 18:58I have to assume like there's a situation where the helicopter's
- 19:00a little bit higher and like she.
- 19:03But you also have to worry about the wind that that generates.
- 19:06Yeah. Like make the satellite design
- 19:08super unstable. Listen, this movie already had
- 19:11to stretch a lot of limits of believability.
- 19:14I don't want that rescue where I have to also question that.
- 19:18But that would have been. There's no way that charging
- 19:21hack works. I wondered about that, yeah.
- 19:24I'm not willing to test it on any of our chargers or lamps,
- 19:27but I don't. I don't want to try it either,
- 19:30but I feel like they missed a really good opportunity for more
- 19:33attention right there because like watching that rescue,
- 19:35that's going to be some tense shit.
- 19:37Yeah. I mean, I guess I could see it
- 19:38would be tense, but I just my belief is so suspended right
- 19:44now, it's a danger of falling to a tragic death, like basically
- 19:47getting this character. Oh, oh, too soon.
- 19:53I guess that's about it. I mean, there's just like,
- 19:55there's not a lot of like shit that goes down once you get up
- 19:57there. It's just like hinging on the
- 19:59fact that it's high up. I mean, that's a lot of these
- 20:02types of movies though. True, yeah.
- 20:05For me, the bad, I guess is like there are a lot of things that
- 20:09don't make sense to me, OK. I mean, there's like the the
- 20:13whole charging thing. I don't feel like that's real.
- 20:16I feel like that's something that came up.
- 20:17I don't know, Maybe it is real, yeah.
- 20:19If you all. Have tried this and you know,
- 20:21please let us know, but it it just doesn't seem likely to me.
- 20:27I I agree, I don't think it's real.
- 20:28And there's the whole climbing thing.
- 20:32Listen, I'm not a climber. I'm like Travis.
- 20:34I have a fear of heights. But I feel like the point of the
- 20:37ropes and the carabiner clips and all of that is not to tether
- 20:41yourself to another person, but to the.
- 20:43Structure. That's what I thought too.
- 20:45They never did it. They would stop for a break.
- 20:47They never clipped on to the rail or something, just kind of
- 20:50hung there. And it's it's confusing to me.
- 20:55Yeah, I think they and the fact that we know that and they
- 20:58didn't know that, that's saying something cuz like that we're
- 21:01not a part of that world at all. And I get the whole, like, life
- 21:04is too short. This is a major part of your
- 21:06life. You have to keep living.
- 21:07Like, I get all of that. I appreciate the message they're
- 21:10trying to send across. But also, if you witness the
- 21:13death of somebody that important to you, I feel like you would
- 21:19kind of be a little bit more conscientious to safety.
- 21:21Yeah, you would respect the shit that happened to that person.
- 21:23That's kind of unless you're like maybe in a place where
- 21:26you're spiraling too much. So I don't know.
- 21:28If she was spiraling. They both were in their ways.
- 21:31Yeah, I guess it's. True.
- 21:32Yeah. So I, I don't know, I just there
- 21:34is just so OK ugly. Well, the fucking deep fake
- 21:40shit, Yeah, I mean, that right there stole the cake for me
- 21:43right there. I hate that.
- 21:44That makes me so upset. I agree with that but I will go
- 21:48ahead and add one from the movie itself and that's Dan's fucking
- 21:52inability to say I love you and his dumb ass 143 thing.
- 21:56It's so fucking stupid. What does that even mean?
- 21:58I don't. I didn't get that.
- 22:00In each word, I is one letter, love is 4 letters, U is 3
- 22:05letters. So he can't say it, but he'll be
- 22:07like, I'll give you the. Number He saw some 12 year old
- 22:09Tumblr blog and was like whoa, that's.
- 22:12Deep. Like I'm sorry, but if you
- 22:15couldn't tell me that you loved me, we're not getting fucking
- 22:17married. Oh, he didn't love her.
- 22:19He like, was fucking around on her too, you know, like.
- 22:22So, and then the audacity after being together four months in a
- 22:28an affair behind your best friend's back, you're going to
- 22:31get that tattooed on your foot. Also, shame on you fucking
- 22:34Hunter. Yeah, that's just bad.
- 22:37Messy people, bad all around. Yeah, bad people.
- 22:39Shame on you. Shame you fuckers.
- 22:42Fuckers. You know what these fuckers
- 22:45would be bringing bottles onto water.
- 22:47Slides. Oh, they absolutely would.
- 22:49Gotta live. Gotta live.
- 22:52Yeah, absurd. The fucking dudes that stole her
- 22:55car. Right.
- 22:57And it seemed like they saw right.
- 22:59They saw, yeah, they saw her. They saw them up top.
- 23:01They, you know, like they're stranded.
- 23:04Nobody's going to like know that they're out there.
- 23:05Let's just take the shit. I just, I thought that that was
- 23:08just so fucking crazy so. Shitty.
- 23:10Yeah, it was just like, damn, like, that's that's bad.
- 23:13So many bad people in this movie.
- 23:15I'm also like the fact that the phone the first time didn't get
- 23:18a message sent while it was falling 2000 feet.
- 23:20That's enough time for it to send.
- 23:22Yeah. Like like it it reached terminal
- 23:25velocity before it hit the ground anyway.
- 23:27Yeah, like, yeah, like it would have sent before it hit the
- 23:32ground and destroyed. Yeah, I think my absurd is
- 23:35mostly just like they have the safety equipment, but it
- 23:37apparently means fuck all to them.
- 23:39They don't use it properly. Yeah, I did have.
- 23:42Unless they're using it properly and we don't know.
- 23:44I mean, tell us if. That's the case.
- 23:45I feel like they're. Not I feel like they're not too.
- 23:46It doesn't look like it. Because like I feel like that
- 23:49could help the whole like can't fall asleep issue because you'll
- 23:52fall off. Like, oh, let me clip this rope
- 23:55to my harness and have the other end clipped to the precipice.
- 23:59Yeah, exactly. I forgot a good that I'd written
- 24:01down and I didn't do but the makeup department because not
- 24:06only like, you know, we got the chapped lips from the heat and
- 24:09the lack of water, but they also did a really good job of having
- 24:11like a very patchy sunburn on them.
- 24:14Like rather than just like making them red all over, they
- 24:17made them red. And these that make sense for
- 24:19her summer as somebody who has gotten her ass sunburnt plenty
- 24:22of times, it's never like an even like red all over.
- 24:26Yeah, you're right. Even if you're wearing a tank
- 24:28top, cuz like Hunter's arms, like she's got red over top, but
- 24:32then like the inner part of like her upper arm is not as red.
- 24:36And that makes sense cuz that's how that would work.
- 24:39So I thought that was really good and I just needed to shout
- 24:41that out. I agree.
- 24:42Yeah. So those are all my thoughts.
- 24:44All right. What would you rate this
- 24:46overall? I, I thought it was a good
- 24:48movie. I'll give it like a 6 1/2.
- 24:52Yeah, I I'm knocking it down a bit for the the deep fake shit.
- 24:56Yeah, same for me. I think I'll give it a 7.
- 25:00So we have a starting average of 6.750, Yeah.
- 25:04And yeah, I think if we, you know, weren't using AI and deep
- 25:09faking and all that. Be in a better place, that's for
- 25:12sure. All right, well, let's get into
- 25:14it. So we start off, we see some
- 25:16rock climbing going on. Dan is going over a gap and
- 25:20she's scared. Becky's scared.
- 25:23And he's like, listen, just do it, just jump.
- 25:27And he catches her as she jumps and it's like yay?
- 25:31And hey, their friend Hunter is also there, and she's way up
- 25:34high. Yeah, she's beating everybody
- 25:36there. They get to a spot that's a
- 25:38little bit slippery and it's. Like it is a vertical rock face.
- 25:42Yeah. Like I just, I can't get on
- 25:44board with these types of hobbies.
- 25:45No, I can't either. Just no fucking way.
- 25:47And he slips and he falls. He's startled by a bird.
- 25:50A bird comes out of like a. Hole where he's.
- 25:53Got a nest, it flies out, it's startled, he falls and he's just
- 25:57kind of swinging free. He can't get to a a foothold
- 26:00where he can get back on the rock.
- 26:01So they need to like let out a little bit more rope so that way
- 26:05he can swing closer. And so they do that, but it
- 26:08something with the weight distribution, it causes the
- 26:12piece to fall out of the Rockwall.
- 26:14And yeah, Foster. 'S death because it was barely
- 26:17hanging in there in the 1st place yeah so just that extra
- 26:19little bit of weight just caused it to yeah fall out so he falls
- 26:23through his stuff mm hmm 51 weeks later how how long is that
- 26:27timeline is 51. That's one week under a year.
- 26:30Is it? Yeah.
- 26:31Oh, just say a fucking year. Just say a year because we need
- 26:35the we need the trip to happen on the actual year anniversary.
- 26:38Oh, OK, sure. All right.
- 26:41So we see the home and it's sad and dark and kind of messy and
- 26:45empty looking. We see just the unopened box of
- 26:49cremains on the front entryway. And there's a voicemail left by
- 26:54her dad, You know, just basically saying I want to be
- 26:58there for you, but you know, I can't live for you.
- 27:01Yeah, he's been, he's been a little bit too harsh.
- 27:04I mean, he may have see, we don't know what's been going on.
- 27:07He may have been the supportive dad for a long time, but then
- 27:09eventually she's like not doing anything.
- 27:11So he's like, look, I get it, like shit's bad, but you got to
- 27:14like start doing something. Yeah, he comes and finds her at
- 27:18the bar. Apparently she gets drunk there
- 27:19a lot. She's trying to drive home
- 27:21drunk. And he's like, no, let me give
- 27:22you a ride home because I'd rather walk.
- 27:23And he's like, listen, if the shoe was on the other foot, do
- 27:27you think Dan would be out here drinking alone or do you think
- 27:30he'd already be with somebody else and like.
- 27:32Dude he moved on before y'all were even wed.
- 27:35This. Shit is the type of stuff that
- 27:37you say, like when somebody's going through a painful breakup
- 27:41and you've let them have their mourning period and then you
- 27:43have to be like, listen, I never really liked the guy.
- 27:46I've had this conversation with plenty of friends before, like,
- 27:49hey, I wanted to spray you or you were with the person.
- 27:52I kept an eye on them, didn't love them.
- 27:55I kind of tried to tell you that.
- 27:56But now that you're broken up, I want to shake you and say, don't
- 27:59you dare try and get back with him.
- 28:00Yeah, but you don't do that when somebody's husband died
- 28:03traumatically in front of them. Yeah.
- 28:05I mean, that's going to cause some damage.
- 28:07It's going to take some time for you and you might not ever get
- 28:10over something like that. And you?
- 28:11Can even be like, and you know, you deserve to live, you deserve
- 28:14to go on. You deserve to find somebody who
- 28:16makes you feel a million times happier than Dan ever did.
- 28:18Yeah, like. There's a way to say it.
- 28:20He's just saying in all the wrong ways.
- 28:22Listen, he's Negan. He doesn't have time.
- 28:24He's not he's, she's just lucky he's not bringing out Lucille.
- 28:28Where's my baseball? Yeah.
- 28:30So yeah, she like storms off and she's like, fuck it, I'm not
- 28:33writing with you. I'd rather walk home.
- 28:35And she gets home and she decides that she's going to call
- 28:38Dan's cell phone, because that's the thing she does.
- 28:39She calls his cell phone and listens to his voicemail.
- 28:42Leaves some messages still. Yeah, and somehow between the
- 28:47bar when she did this and her home, his account was
- 28:52deactivated. No, his voice mailbox was full.
- 28:55No, no, no, no, it said. This account is no longer
- 28:57active. Really.
- 28:58Yes. He didn't.
- 28:59Yeah, that's weird. It's been like a year.
- 29:02And presumably they had the accounts together.
- 29:05Yeah, you would think so. Like who?
- 29:08Who cut off his account in the middle of the night?
- 29:11I'm very confused by this. Maybe it's a dad.
- 29:14The dad has like been like footing the building the entire
- 29:16time. He's like, this is not good.
- 29:18It's my last step right here. I got to cut that shit.
- 29:21Like he was like, I have AT&T on speed dial if this talk with her
- 29:25doesn't go well. Yeah, so she's really upset
- 29:29about that. But hey, she's getting a call
- 29:32from Hunter. Well, and we have to talk about
- 29:34this because she's in a really bad place.
- 29:35And we have to acknowledge for her mental spaces because she
- 29:38gets a drink out and she pours out a big bottle of pills into
- 29:41her hand. Oh, yeah.
- 29:42And this is one of those moments that, like, the call came in
- 29:45just the right time. Yeah, Hunter calls her and she
- 29:48comes to visit and she's like, listen, I got a plan and you're
- 29:52a partner in crime. I think this will be good for
- 29:55you. She.
- 29:55Also admits that her dad called her and told her everything was
- 29:59going down so that's why she's reaching out now.
- 30:01And she's like, you know, I've been kind of running away from
- 30:04all of it too, but I want to do this climb.
- 30:08It's the B67 tower. It's a six hour drive from here.
- 30:12We can climb it together. We can scatter dance ashes.
- 30:16He would love it from up there, which it does feel really
- 30:20appropriate for him. Yeah, as somebody who has
- 30:24scattered ashes on the anniversary of the deaf, doing
- 30:27it in a way that the person, you know, was, it was a thing that
- 30:30they enjoyed. Like, I respect that.
- 30:32Yeah. But but it's just like, I just.
- 30:35I can't. I can't.
- 30:36I haven't done anything like that since the accident, but in
- 30:39the morning she wakes up and she says that what it was Dan used
- 30:44to say was if you're scared of dying, don't be afraid to live.
- 30:47Which again, Dan, get the fuck off of Tumblr.
- 30:50Yeah, it's like he just found those quotes and just put them
- 30:54all over the house. Or something.
- 30:56Fuck boy is like he. He is the poster boy for M14 in
- 31:00the system. Like, yeah.
- 31:02I I hate him and I never thought anything could make me hate
- 31:06Mason Gooding but. He doesn't play a good guy in
- 31:08this movie and we don't even really see a lot of them.
- 31:11But it's just the aftermath or how we know he is.
- 31:14Yes, yeah, not good. It's like everything I learned
- 31:16about this guy. I'm like Becky, your dad wasn't
- 31:21a good delivery, but the message is spot on.
- 31:23Right. Yeah.
- 31:25So Becky, Greece, they're gonna do it.
- 31:27And we now cut they are on the trip.
- 31:31Hunter has a YouTube channel, she's Danger D.
- 31:34Danger. D Danger, D and she basically,
- 31:38she's got sponsors. It gets her enough to travel and
- 31:40do these things, which I respect that.
- 31:42For it, Yeah, that sounds cool. Yeah, Becky asks if she can
- 31:46charge your phone and waitresses like electricity isn't free.
- 31:52Like are you fucking kidding me to just charge your phone or?
- 31:54Just say like, no, sorry, yeah 'cause like there are some
- 31:57restaurants where the only charger is like back behind the
- 31:59bar and the bartenders won't do that for liability reasons.
- 32:02Yeah, that makes sense. But if you have an ally right
- 32:04next to your fucking yeah table, just what?
- 32:07What does it matter? There's no way that lamp wasn't
- 32:09plugged into something. Yeah, and you're not like taking
- 32:12like, how much in energy, like $0.50, you know, like not even.
- 32:16Yeah, it's just insane. Yeah, but it gives us our was it
- 32:21did the Dicks Deus Ex machina like so machina machina.
- 32:27I don't. Know Deus Ex machina.
- 32:29I don't. I don't speak fucking Latin,
- 32:31only as derivatives. So Hunter like unscrews the
- 32:36light bulb and she's like all you have to do is connect you to
- 32:38these lucky. Fuck.
- 32:40Things, yeah, the electricity screws, yeah.
- 32:45Zippy dips all the way around the Skippy.
- 32:47That's how electricity works. That's how it's done.
- 32:50Please wish me luck if I ever submit, you know, a quiz for
- 32:55Jeopardy, because clearly I would be really good at the
- 32:57shelf. Ken, what are zippity Doo das?
- 33:01Just like, get off my stage. How does this person make it
- 33:04you? So yeah, she's able to
- 33:08successfully charge her phone now.
- 33:10So that night, Becky dreams of Dan and his stupid goddamn 143
- 33:14thing. And if you're a commitment?
- 33:18Yep. So it's morning time.
- 33:20They're driving off to the TV tower.
- 33:22But first, their. First tits are to her chin.
- 33:25Damn, she got that push up Ross. She got that cleavage poppin.
- 33:28Listen, the Victoria's Secret bombshell wine, it do be like
- 33:34that. I mean, it's tits.
- 33:36Dude it like. They're there.
- 33:38I mean. They're on display.
- 33:40That's Victoria's Secret is not so secret.
- 33:44Those things, they're up there. She knew what she was doing.
- 33:47Yeah, she was like. Tits clicks.
- 33:49Yeah, that's right. And.
- 33:51Play the game. They're off.
- 33:53They're about to hit the road, but they're about to get hit by
- 33:56a truck first. Yes, cuz Hunter uses her phone.
- 34:00Yeah, while driving again, safety precautions be damned.
- 34:04Yeah, she's Danger D. Danger D Right?
- 34:07So, you know, she kind of gives a rundown of the tower.
- 34:10The main thing we need to know is that it's 2000 feet tall,
- 34:12which is over double the height of the Eiffel Tower.
- 34:15It's the second tallest structure in the United States.
- 34:19They call it the fourth highest in the United States in this.
- 34:23I don't know. I didn't look in United States
- 34:27on the list. Mine was the one that's based
- 34:29off as the eighth highest in the world, so.
- 34:32Yeah, it's up there. It's it's really, really high.
- 34:35So they make it to as far as they can go.
- 34:38There's a gate. The gang is locked and it said
- 34:41do not enter. What is it like?
- 34:43Probable death. I don't know what it said, but
- 34:46that's. Isn't it something about death?
- 34:48I mean you'll. Probably die.
- 34:49You're going to die. Yeah.
- 34:52It's a really intense gate sign. And I think the part of me would
- 34:54be like, yeah, but of course I would never.
- 34:57I probably wouldn't be friends with somebody who's like, hey,
- 35:00let's go climb a tower. Yeah.
- 35:02You know, another thing that I thought of here, I'm going to
- 35:04chalk this up as an absurd, but like, why would they not for
- 35:08like a safety precautions, bring a parachute because I feel like
- 35:12that's just good sense right there.
- 35:13Like base jumping type of thing. Yeah, I mean you are clearly
- 35:16high enough to. Be there's no way Hunter hasn't
- 35:18done that. Yeah, exactly.
- 35:20I just like that seems like a good thing to have in the
- 35:23situation here. Like if you do get stuck or if
- 35:25you happen to slip and fall, you have a parachute there to and.
- 35:29Also, like, they do not have enough water, even though it's
- 35:31like a single climb and it's just two of them.
- 35:34They fear they're going to be back before lunch.
- 35:35They're still in the middle of the desert.
- 35:37Yeah, you always need more water than you think.
- 35:39And you would need to be prepared for those incidentals.
- 35:41And like God, at least have like some trail mix or some shit in
- 35:47there. Think about how much energy and
- 35:49sweat and stuff that you're using on the way out there you
- 35:51need to replenish before your trip back down.
- 35:53And also tell people where you're going to be.
- 35:55That way they know to go looking for you where you are.
- 35:58Listen, Jeffrey Dean Morgan told you to go help his daughter.
- 36:02You need to say where you're helping his daughter at.
- 36:04Yeah, exactly. These are all like basic safety
- 36:08precautions that I am aware of, not as a climber, but as
- 36:12somebody, as a person, as a human.
- 36:14Yeah, as a human who has done like hiking and running and
- 36:17stuff like, those are things that you need to do.
- 36:19Just with sense. Yeah, Yeah.
- 36:22Yep. So they come across a coyote
- 36:25that is dead. I mean, like freshly dead.
- 36:27They say it's still alive, but it looked dead to me.
- 36:30And vultures are. Or on the way to it.
- 36:32Yeah, the the vultures are. It's a circle of life and it's
- 36:35upsetting, but it also just. Yeah, Hunter's really amused by
- 36:39it and does like a post to her Instagram making a joke in poor
- 36:43tastes, if you ask me. Yeah, was it feeling peckish?
- 36:47Yeah, yeah, I get it. It's kind of funny, but I don't
- 36:49like that the expense of the coyote there.
- 36:52Yeah. So they arrive at the tower.
- 36:55Yep, they have water, rope, a drone and no food.
- 36:59Which also, again, I just have to bring up, they didn't plan
- 37:03for this extra hike, which is why you have to have more of
- 37:05these things than you planned for because of the incidentals.
- 37:08They had a one to two mile hike plus the nearly a mile up in the
- 37:12air. Yeah, exactly.
- 37:12And back down and then back to their car.
- 37:14Yeah, you're gonna get hungry in US here.
- 37:17Becky almost chickens out here. She's wanting out.
- 37:21Absolutely would. I would too, but Hunter
- 37:23convinces her that she needs to do it.
- 37:25She's stronger than she thinks she is, and she.
- 37:27Gives her actually a pretty decent pep talk here.
- 37:29Yeah, yeah. So.
- 37:30It's not Conrad levels, but it's yeah, it's a good pep talk.
- 37:35So this starts to climb. One of the rungs breaks part
- 37:38way. Up Oh my God that immediately
- 37:40Nope backing the fuck out of there.
- 37:42There, yeah, like I feel like. Structure is not sound.
- 37:45Yeah. So this is a decommissioned
- 37:47tower, Yes. That means nobody's been up here
- 37:49checking on it. Everything's rusty.
- 37:50We're gonna fall apart. Best case scenario, tetanus.
- 37:53Worst case death. Yeah, I'm getting the fuck out,
- 37:56but they keep keep on keeping. They take a break halfway, which
- 38:02a break just apparently means not climbing, but just, you
- 38:05know, looping your arm around the ladder rung.
- 38:07Yeah, drinking some water. Just hanging out there, checking
- 38:09out the scene, like, yeah, I could never, I would never stop
- 38:14and just like look around while I'm hanging on the ladder like
- 38:17that. That's fucking insane.
- 38:18I can't look down when I'm on the ladder to reach our gutters
- 38:24like there is no there is no world where I could do this.
- 38:28No, no, absolutely not. So Becky's like fuck this, Like
- 38:32this is too scary. Let's just go on and.
- 38:34We're getting so many like Final Destination esque shots of like
- 38:38the bulbs, yeah, the bulbs loose, like we see the wire,
- 38:41like the stabilizing wires on the ground are kind of like
- 38:43shaking like dude. And so many of these moments.
- 38:47I also got it got me thinking, how do people actually assemble
- 38:51these things? How do you get a structure this
- 38:54tall up there like that? How does that even work?
- 38:58I just don't know how you do it. Piece by piece.
- 39:01Yeah, but somebody asked to like, how?
- 39:02Like how do you get the piece? Out there, I've heard that like
- 39:05the people that have to service those, it happens like once or
- 39:08twice a year and they're paid several thousands of dollars
- 39:11each time they climb up. I've seen videos of people doing
- 39:13that. You know what happened?
- 39:14Guy went up, changed the light and jumped off with a parachute.
- 39:18That's exactly what he did. But at the same time though,
- 39:20like, to assemble it, you like, like, have to carry it up there
- 39:23or have somebody like, drop it off with a helicopter or
- 39:26something. But then again, you're risking
- 39:27the whole thing and like, being blown away by the helicopter.
- 39:30I don't fucking know. Yeah, this is not my world, and
- 39:33I'm OK with that. I don't want to be anywhere.
- 39:35Yeah, I'm OK with the amount of knowledge I have about this.
- 39:37It's just the same. So they get to the cuz the 1st
- 39:42800 feet of it or so, not 812 hundred feet of it or so are
- 39:47like internal like it's in a cage.
- 39:49Then the last 800 are external and then they get to a precipice
- 39:54and. Exposed.
- 39:55And she was like, this is amazing.
- 39:57But also, it's gonna seem really intense.
- 40:01It's so fucking scary. And also halfway up there, there
- 40:05are satellites in the way that they have to climb around, but.
- 40:07Before they get out there hunters like does this ladder
- 40:10feel loose and then like shakes it like an.
- 40:12Why? Why would you do that?
- 40:15There are people who will, everybody's had this friend or
- 40:19family member that you're like, I don't want to do XYZ activity
- 40:23because I'm scared of XYZ activity.
- 40:25And it's like, come on, it'll be fine.
- 40:26We'll make sure that you're safe.
- 40:27It'll be a good time. And then you reluctantly agree
- 40:30because you're like, you know what, I want to be a brave
- 40:32person. I want to enjoy this family time
- 40:33or this friend time. And I'm going to go ahead and do
- 40:35it. I trust these people.
- 40:37And then there's always that one goddamn asshole who was part of
- 40:40the group telling you that you're going to be safe and
- 40:43we'll take care of you. That does something to fuck with
- 40:45you like this? Yeah, like, oh, don't look over
- 40:47the edge. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:49Don't fucking do that. Oh my God.
- 40:50Be that guy. Yeah, don't be that guy.
- 40:52Oh. God.
- 40:55But yeah, so they get to the dishes and she's like, this
- 40:57looks worse than it is. And actually, it really isn't.
- 40:59Like they just kind of duck underneath it.
- 41:00Yeah, it's a little bit hairy for Hunter because she's got the
- 41:03backpack, but. The thing is, it puts you on
- 41:05your heels in a place where you don't want to be on your heels.
- 41:07Yeah. And yeah, it's just not an
- 41:09ideal. But they make it around and then
- 41:11they make it to the top. And they're they take pictures,
- 41:15they take some drone shots. Hunter takes a scary picture
- 41:21where she's hanging off with just one hand and no harness or
- 41:23anything. And then she makes Becky do the
- 41:25same thing. But she.
- 41:27Becky's not even holding on to the press.
- 41:28It's Becky's holding on to Hunter.
- 41:30Yeah, she's just holding her down there.
- 41:32That's worse. It's worse.
- 41:33Yeah, but I don't fucking understand why they do this and.
- 41:37He's the sad thing is like when I see those pictures too, I'm
- 41:39like, the picture doesn't even really get you the idea of how
- 41:43high up you are. No, it doesn't do justice.
- 41:45Yeah, it's. Not like the drone shot I'm sure
- 41:48would have been cool. Yeah, that was cool.
- 41:49Yeah. So then they they scatter the
- 41:53ashes and it's emotional. And again, as somebody has gone
- 41:59through this, I can tell you, you are never prepared for how
- 42:01it's gonna feel to do that. Never, ever.
- 42:05But I do think as much as I do not enjoy what we know of his
- 42:10character, I do think he would appreciate that send off.
- 42:13Yeah, it's fitting. Yeah, for sure.
- 42:15Becky's like, all right, we're done.
- 42:17Let's get the fuck down. Yes, I gotta pee.
- 42:19Yes, and again I I would have had to pee the second I got on
- 42:24there so. I would have peed myself.
- 42:25I'm not peeing over the edge of this thing.
- 42:27Fuck. That so she starts to climb down
- 42:29the ladder and it a piece of it falls and the rest of it just
- 42:35like buckles underneath her. She, like, is hanging away from
- 42:39the tower. Yes and so like they they don't
- 42:43fully realize what's happened. I don't think because she's just
- 42:46like swinging and Hunter like helps pull her up and she's
- 42:49like, OK, here's the ladder. I found the ladder and climbed
- 42:51up and they're like, OK, cool, we're calm, we're ready to go
- 42:54back down. And then they realize that the
- 42:55ladder has fallen aside from like it's just gone 5 or so
- 42:59rungs right at the top. So it's just gone and they're
- 43:05like, OK, well, surely the sounds were very, very loud.
- 43:11And some, there have been a million calls to 911, somebody
- 43:13will be here soon. I found that hard to believe
- 43:16that it would have been loud enough to convince people to
- 43:19call 911. Yeah, there's no fucking way.
- 43:21She was being, she was coping here big time.
- 43:24Yeah, and also, Becky caught her leg in the process of all this,
- 43:28so Hunter Hardin gets it with her like flannel that she's
- 43:30wearing. Yeah.
- 43:33So they're trying to, like, brainstorm ideas of what to do.
- 43:36Well, first, you know, we just get a little bit of time between
- 43:39them. Oh yeah cuz they were waiting
- 43:40for the potential 911 but there's been hours and nobody
- 43:44arrives. Becky's filming Hunter and she's
- 43:46trying to get like the real Hunter instead of Danger D And,
- 43:49you know, she's basically saying that she, you know, started
- 43:53doing all this because, you know, Dan's death made her
- 43:56realize that life was too short. Then they start talking about
- 44:02all of this and they're like, well, we add coverage layer to
- 44:05the ground. I'm not sure why we don't have
- 44:08coverage up here, but maybe we can take the rope fish for some.
- 44:10I have 60,000 followers on Instagram.
- 44:13So their plan is to post it on Instagram.
- 44:17Oh, we forgot to mention that they found a box at the top that
- 44:20has a flare gun and binoculars. Yes, and it says emergency on
- 44:24masking tape. And I don't in any way, shape or
- 44:28form believe that that Sharpie is still legible after just
- 44:32being beaten down by the sun. Yeah, definitely not.
- 44:35They they have the binoculars and they see an RV but it looks
- 44:38abandoned. Yeah, well, we haven't gotten
- 44:41there yet. Oh, I thought that happened
- 44:42there. Well, I mean, they they looked
- 44:44around, but they're still they're going to try and fish
- 44:46figurage first. OK, so they're trying to fish
- 44:48for coverage anywhere that they can reach with the rope and
- 44:52getting down as low on the ladder is there is like they
- 44:55still aren't able to get signal. So they're going to try the egg
- 44:58drop challenge, but with a phone.
- 45:00Yeah, and so Becky's shoes are too flimsy, so they're gonna use
- 45:05Hunter's, one of her Converse and her Bombshell bra, Yeah, for
- 45:10padding. And so the plan is that they'll,
- 45:13you know, pad it, make sure it's really secure, drop and hope the
- 45:16phone doesn't shatter. And theoretically I would
- 45:18imagine that would work, but it doesn't in this case.
- 45:21Yes. They do it and they drop it and
- 45:23they get no response. Yeah, so they and they don't
- 45:26know, but Becky sets an alarm for 24 hours from when they
- 45:30left. That way, you know, once it's
- 45:33been 24 hours, they know if they're if anybody's coming or
- 45:37not, basically. Yeah.
- 45:38She also peeps A143 tattoo on Becky on Hunter's foot.
- 45:42I love you. So this is where they're looking
- 45:47around with the binoculars. They see a man on the phone
- 45:51walking a dog and they try to catch his attention.
- 45:53He does not hear them. So if remember it's about a mile
- 45:57or two from the gate and they are close to a mile up in the
- 46:00air. Yeah.
- 46:00So that's a long way for someone to travel.
- 46:03Yeah, I don't think it would theoretically work.
- 46:06The dog seems to hear them. Yeah, I think I believe that
- 46:09because dogs have great hearing. Yeah.
- 46:10But honestly, like if it was us in that situation, Italian,
- 46:13she's like, here's some of the guys.
- 46:14We'd be like, you always hear something.
- 46:15Italian, Yeah, and that's true. Like you just, you hear a lot of
- 46:18that You're really good at hearing.
- 46:19We get it. Bravo, Italian.
- 46:21The dog's like look shooting like tell you always say look
- 46:23shoot like. I mean, come on, dude.
- 46:26Tell ya you were constantly confused by shoes, which is
- 46:29weird because we. Have so many so many shoes you
- 46:31should be used to these by now and yeah here we are and they
- 46:35also throw another shoes and. Yeah, they're this is they're
- 46:37throwing Becky's shoes. Yeah, and it makes a sound and
- 46:41he gets his attention and he goes over to investigate the
- 46:43shoe, basically, Huh? And then he just walks away.
- 46:46So they they see an RV and that's where the man is walking
- 46:51back to. There's another dude there.
- 46:52And they're like, OK, cool. So at night when it's dark,
- 46:56we're gonna shoot the flare while they're outside.
- 46:58So it looks like they're getting ready to go.
- 46:59So they gotta like time it just right where they're still
- 47:02outside. But it's dark and they're paying
- 47:03attention. And they get their moment.
- 47:06They shoot the flare and then they take Becky's phone and they
- 47:09turn on the flashlight. They're waving and it they think
- 47:11that they've gotten their attention.
- 47:13And the guys drive up to the gate and they see the car and
- 47:16they're like, great. They're going to see the car.
- 47:17They're going to know somebody's up here.
- 47:19They saw our flair. Why do they have a crowbar?
- 47:22Oh, clearly they're just going to bust through the gate.
- 47:25Yeah, instead they just bust into the car and drive off.
- 47:28They did see them up there. They just knew.
- 47:30Like these people are stuck. Let's just Jack the shit.
- 47:34Fuckers, those fuckers. Bunch of assholes.
- 47:38Yeah, so now they've wasted their flair and anybody that
- 47:41knows that they're there is gone.
- 47:42Yep. Sucks, sucks.
- 47:46So that Maggie's like, so how long?
- 47:50And you're like, what? She's like you and Dan, how long
- 47:52you got? You got this stupid fucking 143
- 47:54on your foot. Dan can't say I love you.
- 47:56Do you not see? Do you not hear these red flags
- 47:58that are coming out of your mouth, Rebecca?
- 48:01Yeah, yeah, it's bad. Yeah.
- 48:03She she was also watching on her phone a video of their wedding,
- 48:06and she could see in the background Hunter was.
- 48:08So sad, simmering like. Yeah, she's just like, yeah,
- 48:12yeah. So yeah, it sounds like a front.
- 48:15Also, what is up with her phone? It's got an amazing battery
- 48:20life. I know it like it lasts the
- 48:23entire like it days. Yeah, I don't understand.
- 48:26It lasts multiple days. It lasts long enough for the
- 48:28final egg drop that Becky's gonna do on like, what, Day
- 48:31three? Yeah, it's like day three.
- 48:32Yeah, yeah. Mine mine probably wouldn't have
- 48:34made it through the entire climb up and down and back to the car.
- 48:37No, no, same. Yeah.
- 48:40All right. So it's morning time.
- 48:43Oh, wait, hold on. We we need to talk more about
- 48:45their affair. I don't think about that.
- 48:47Yeah, no, they did. Because she confronts her and
- 48:49she. Said that the affair.
- 48:50Lasted about four months. So why are you already getting
- 48:52tattooed for this? Fuck boy, She goes.
- 48:54Then you asked me to be your maid of honor and I realized I
- 48:56loved you more than him. I didn't want to fall in love
- 48:58with him. And she was like well who
- 48:59initiated? And she goes heated.
- 49:01Yeah, we were drunk. How do we?
- 49:03How do we know? How can we believe you, Shiloh?
- 49:05It's true, yeah, could have been.
- 49:08The fact of the matter is they both betrayed her.
- 49:10Yeah, still. Yeah, she's Becky's not got a
- 49:14great support system. Yeah, she's got she's a terrible
- 49:16judge of character. And then, you know, after his
- 49:21death, she ran away cuz she was like, I, I was not handling it
- 49:24well and I didn't think I could be there for you in a good way
- 49:27for either of us. Yeah, no, that makes sense.
- 49:30Yeah. So it's morning time.
- 49:32The 24 hour alarm goes off and it's your morning alarm.
- 49:35And fortunately our pets did not react to it normally.
- 49:40Like if I'm watching Below Deck, they're the morning alarms.
- 49:43When they go off in the show, the pets are all like, oh,
- 49:45breakfast time. I I hate it.
- 49:48It fucks with me every single time.
- 49:51Honor wants to be forward to the satellite so she can grab the
- 49:54bag. Yeah, the because the bag fell.
- 49:58I can't remember how. Yeah, Oh, it was.
- 50:01It was whenever she was climbing down.
- 50:03Yeah, I think she was trying to get down low enough to to try
- 50:07and get a signal or. Something happened.
- 50:10Something. Happened.
- 50:12Oh, they were climbing. Yeah, they were climbing
- 50:14somewhere to try and get a signal in the bag fell.
- 50:16It's the bag fell. The bag fell.
- 50:17The bag is on one of those dishes.
- 50:19They can't climb down to it because most of the ladder is
- 50:21gone. That's really the main thing.
- 50:24They need water, which is in the bag and the drone is also in
- 50:28there and they're like, well, let's see if we can get the rope
- 50:30to reach the bag. It's just out of reach.
- 50:32So Hunter is like ties herself to the rope.
- 50:35You guys down there still can't quite reach it.
- 50:37She unhooks herself and lands on the dish.
- 50:40Dangerous game after so much of the structure has already fallen
- 50:43apart under you. Yeah, that's like your whole
- 50:45weight landing on that satellite right there.
- 50:47It's just that's a, that's a risk, but you got to take these
- 50:50risks in this type of situation. Yeah, it's like, well, I'm gonna
- 50:52die one way or the other. So.
- 50:54And she takes the backpack and she's got a selfie stick in it
- 50:58and she, like, hooks it to the rope, which the whole time she's
- 51:01like, I can't reach the rope. I can't reach the rope.
- 51:03Why? Why is Becky not?
- 51:07Do you need me to scooch the rope over or?
- 51:09Something or something? Yeah, do like manipulate.
- 51:11It it's not like trapped coming off of that one because the
- 51:14precipice is like a hexagon shape type of thing.
- 51:18Maybe an Octagon. I didn't count how many sides,
- 51:20but it's not a circle. No.
- 51:21But either way, she could easily just be like, let me scooch,
- 51:24scooch, scooch, scooch the rope over this way.
- 51:26Yeah, I didn't understand. That she asked her, she's like,
- 51:29do you want me to move it or something like that?
- 51:31And she's like, no, no, I got this.
- 51:32So she like hooks the backpack? She's just an asshole.
- 51:36She's a an adrenaline junkie for sure.
- 51:39This is not the moment. It's not, but she gets the
- 51:42backpack hook, then she climbs onto the backpack and then.
- 51:45Doesn't clip herself onto it. No, cuz she's a dummy and avoids
- 51:48all that shit. So Becky's trying to pull her up
- 51:51and it's going, but she's. Almost there.
- 51:54It doesn't go in a MO. They fall.
- 51:57She falls. She falls and Becky's just
- 52:00sitting there and she's just looking at the rope and her
- 52:04brain breaks. And we find out later, like her
- 52:06brain actually did break in this moment.
- 52:09But when she looks over, Hunter has grabbed the bag and she's
- 52:12hanging from it. She's like, my hands are really
- 52:14fucked up though, so you're going to have to pull me up.
- 52:17And so she does. And they're like, OK, what if we
- 52:21use eyeliner and receipt to write a note and attach it to
- 52:24the drone and fly the drone towards the hotel?
- 52:28So. Not not the worst idea, but I'm
- 52:30also sitting there thinking that like if I was outside of a motel
- 52:34in a small drone land kind of near me and there was trash
- 52:38attached to it. Would I pick it out?
- 52:40Probably not. Yeah, I would be like, why get
- 52:43that fucking thing away from me? Like, are you spying on me?
- 52:47They folded the note over. They should have put like SOS on
- 52:50it or something. Yeah, on one side.
- 52:52And on the other side that way it's yeah.
- 52:55Yeah, that's that's a different way.
- 52:56Well, and it also, it also depends on what kind of eyeliner
- 53:00it is that she's using because you have to be careful how you
- 53:03cuz like there's a big difference between a pencil and
- 53:05like a liquid pen eyeliner. That's fair.
- 53:08So how you fold it? You have to be careful if you
- 53:10want your note to not be super expired.
- 53:13Just wait for it to dry. Yeah, well, pencil doesn't dry.
- 53:16OK, that's true. That's true.
- 53:18Yeah. Yeah, you're right.
- 53:19OK. So but anyway, what I'm saying
- 53:22is the plan was mostly there and maybe if they weren't dehydrated
- 53:26and hungry they would have gotten the rest of the way
- 53:28there. Yeah.
- 53:30But what's also not all the way there is the battery on the
- 53:33drone, because they kind of get it towards the gate and then it
- 53:36says the battery is dying and will be dead in a minute.
- 53:39Do you want to retrieve the drone?
- 53:41So they do, and they make it just in time.
- 53:43She wakes up in the middle of the night and she can't find
- 53:45Hunter. And she is being attacked by a
- 53:47vulture and she's freaking out and then she looks over and
- 53:50another vulture is eating hunter.
- 53:51Her face is like destroyed, but she wakes up.
- 53:54It's just a dream. Becky's like, hey, what if we
- 53:58use your stupid hack and we charge the drone with the light
- 54:02bulb up there and Hunter says perfect idea.
- 54:06That's totally just a normal light bulb in this tower.
- 54:10Yeah, and that's exactly what it looks like they like.
- 54:13So Becky climbs up there and she removes the little red cap that
- 54:18gives it the red glow and it's just a normal light bulb.
- 54:20I mean, that's that's how it works like with cartel lights,
- 54:23like it's not like a red light bulb, like it's just a small
- 54:25light bulb that's under a red thing, but.
- 54:27Imagine this is probably a stronger light.
- 54:29Yeah, if I had to guess. Like, it's like one of our light
- 54:32bulbs that's in our ceiling and like, you can buy bigger labels
- 54:36and that at Home Depot. Yeah.
- 54:37And that's a tower. And it's got the flashing lights
- 54:39that we planes don't. Also if it's such an issue if
- 54:43planes not hitting it, have no planes flown by where she can be
- 54:46like hello. Yeah, got me a question more.
- 54:50Things. Maybe it's just because we live
- 54:51in a city with an airport. I'll be a small one, but we
- 54:55constantly hear planes. Planes going by quite a bit.
- 54:59Yeah, that's true. Well, she gets up there and she
- 55:03manages to get the charging life hack to go.
- 55:07She this is this is like the classic like post merge survivor
- 55:11challenge where they have to be like in an uncomfortable
- 55:14position. A long time.
- 55:16Hours. And then Jeff, the sadist that
- 55:19he is, is like, who wants a steak dinner?
- 55:21All you got to do is give up immunity.
- 55:25So I really hope Becky goes on Survivor.
- 55:27She would win, yeah. I think she would do really
- 55:29well. But yeah, she's got to hang up
- 55:31there for a long time while with charges, while she's also being
- 55:34attacked by a vulture. Yep, and she to add to this the
- 55:39the metaphor of everything that's happening of moving on
- 55:42and what not, she took off her wedding band and just put it on
- 55:45the chain where she had Dan's wedding band.
- 55:48To add to this, because the prongs couldn't quite reach the
- 55:52the the metal zippity Doo dah yeah.
- 55:56The zip. The zip is yeah in the Doo dah.
- 55:58Yeah, she has to use the wedding bands to like make that.
- 56:01Make the full circuit. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:04So she's just like up there doing that the whole time.
- 56:06She waits for the drone to charge all the way full.
- 56:09They said we need the best chance for this to to charge up
- 56:12all the way so that way we can make sure that it gets where it
- 56:15needs to go, which tells me Hunter bought a cheap drone.
- 56:19Oh, absolutely. Like if it has to be 100% charge
- 56:22for you to drive it for 20 minutes.
- 56:25Not only that, but the IT, it doesn't take it that long to
- 56:28charge fully. Yeah.
- 56:29And I would imagine something like that would take a while to.
- 56:31Charge. Yeah.
- 56:32I was like, this is This Is Us. Yeah.
- 56:34How many sponsors do you really have here?
- 56:38Like if we found out that her parents were rich, I would not
- 56:40be shocked. I mean, I that's probably the
- 56:42case really. So the plan?
- 56:46Fly the drone at the busiest time at the motel.
- 56:48More likelihood of people seeing it so they're gonna wait for
- 56:50check. Out 10. 30 AM and then she's
- 56:54like falling asleep and so Hunter's like, hey, we can't
- 56:57fall asleep right now. You gotta stay awake.
- 56:59Those vultures are coming for us.
- 57:00Talk about a happy memory. Talk about your dad.
- 57:03And she was like, oh, we used to watch wrestling together.
- 57:05Her faves? Stone Cold The Rock.
- 57:09She doesn't. It's unclear if Cactus Jack is
- 57:13in her list of favorites, but she said who is Cactus Jack when
- 57:16he's got the mask on? Mankind.
- 57:18Yes, mankind fucking rules. You know, you know, Hunter or
- 57:23not Hunter, Becky and her dad have watched Mankind versus
- 57:26Undertaker. Undertaker, Helena.
- 57:28Sell. Multiple times who?
- 57:30Hasn't. Exactly.
- 57:32Yeah, it's a classic. Like sometimes we watch it on
- 57:35break at work. Yeah, I need this right now.
- 57:39I need. This.
- 57:39Yeah. Mick Foley.
- 57:41It's a crazy motherfucker. Also Batista.
- 57:44Batista, yeah. So she manages to stay awake
- 57:47until check out. She flies the drone, they're
- 57:50almost at the motel. She flies it way too low going
- 57:53across the street. I know dum dum dummy cuz it gets
- 57:57hit by a tractor trailer. I feel like it's the same one
- 58:00that almost the opening too. So like, he's like, I didn't
- 58:03directly kill you, but I'm still gonna kill you.
- 58:06I'm apart. Yeah.
- 58:07And he gets out to check his track and she goes.
- 58:08He's not even gonna check the drone.
- 58:10No, as far as he knows, some asshole kids just trying to make
- 58:13him brag. He.
- 58:13Sees the drone, he's like fuck that, I would do the same, why
- 58:16would I go look at the drone again?
- 58:18I really wish that they had written like an SOS message.
- 58:22You know what if Hunter had eyeliner in her makeup bag, do
- 58:25we think she had lipstick? Could have done a brightly
- 58:26colored SOS on the outside of that note.
- 58:28Could have even put it on the drone itself.
- 58:30Yeah. Yeah.
- 58:32So Oh well, too late now that's over with.
- 58:35That's not going to be part of the plan anymore.
- 58:37So Becky's sitting there and she's thinking for a while and
- 58:40she goes. I want to try and send another
- 58:41message. Also, a storm is brewing and
- 58:44coming her way. It also looks like cuz there are
- 58:47so many shots but there are clouds below them which just
- 58:49gives me the. Hippie, I know, but it's really
- 58:51cool the imagery of seeing the storm up at that level like they
- 58:54do. Yeah, it was kind of cool.
- 58:57I'd also like, you're on a giant lightning rod.
- 59:00Like, that's kind of, yeah, terrifying to think about.
- 59:03That's true. But you like, what are you above
- 59:05where the storm actually is? You know, like you're above.
- 59:08It all metal she threw her shoes.
- 59:09She doesn't have any more like rubber to crown her.
- 59:13That's true. So she's like, give me an hunter
- 59:17says like, how are you gonna drop your phone?
- 59:19We don't have anything to put it in.
- 59:21She goes, yeah, give me your other shoes.
- 59:22She goes, I can't. She's like, yeah, you can.
- 59:25She goes, I don't have it. And she goes, yeah, you do.
- 59:27It's right there on your foot. She goes, yeah, but I'm not up
- 59:29here. I.
- 59:31Died. She's like I fell.
- 59:34I didn't catch the bag before and you couldn't handle it, so
- 59:38you've been imagining me cheering you out in this whole
- 59:41time. So we just snap and see Hunter
- 59:44is laying on the satellite down there.
- 59:46Yeah, and her face is actually fucked up the way Becky saw in
- 59:49the dream, and the vultures are in fact eating her.
- 59:53But the vultures kind of did her a solid.
- 59:56So what happens is Becky, she records a message for her dad
- 1:00:01saying she wants to be a fighter.
- 1:00:04And that's all I can say on that right now.
- 1:00:07That was a lot harder to watch yesterday than I thought it was
- 1:00:09gonna be. You know, she's like, hey, we're
- 1:00:10gonna go to a different place. It's a sad moment.
- 1:00:13Yeah. She's trying to give her final
- 1:00:14message, her final goodbye before she she thinks she's
- 1:00:17gone. But this is her last ditch
- 1:00:19effort. She's gonna do the the phone
- 1:00:22drop and hopefully the message sends this time.
- 1:00:24So she sits there and it looks like she's asleep, and a
- 1:00:26vulture's like, perfect. My name's Cordelia and I'm
- 1:00:29always hungry, except she has her eye open and she attacks the
- 1:00:35Vulture back and she eats something raw.
- 1:00:38And I know some animals can get you really sick if you eat them
- 1:00:40raw like that, but also if you're in a life or death
- 1:00:42situation. Take that risk here.
- 1:00:43Yeah, she's like, I need my energy one way or the other.
- 1:00:47So she has that energy and she uses it to climb down to the
- 1:00:52dish. And she says, I'm really sorry,
- 1:00:57Hunter, but I need to make sure this message gets through.
- 1:01:00She sends a text to her dad, puts it in the shoe, and then
- 1:01:04puts the shoe inside of Hunter's stomach that the vultures have
- 1:01:08chewed through. Smart.
- 1:01:10It's smart. I think Hunter would applaud.
- 1:01:13I think so too. Hunter would approve.
- 1:01:16Do you always think Hunter? Because Hunter said she bled
- 1:01:19out. How long do we think that took?
- 1:01:22Hunter, I suppose, said she bled out.
- 1:01:24I think she got knocked unconscious and maybe bled out.
- 1:01:27Because she was already like, they were already both pretty
- 1:01:29dehydrated by that point. That's true.
- 1:01:31Because that was kind of her whole point.
- 1:01:32She was like, we need to do this now before we get more
- 1:01:34dehydrated. I don't think it took long,
- 1:01:35yeah. Yeah, I.
- 1:01:36Think it was pretty so because thing was fast.
- 1:01:37Otherwise, like is she sitting there and dying listening to her
- 1:01:41best friend that? Having a conversation with her
- 1:01:43that's not. I didn't even think of that.
- 1:01:45Like what were Hunter's last minutes?
- 1:01:47On her like, no, I'm down here. Who are you talking to?
- 1:01:51And like, poor Becky, because, like, Hunter really was trying
- 1:01:55to apologize. And she was like, I love you.
- 1:01:56And Becky's like, OK, bye before all of that happens.
- 1:02:00I mean fair. And Becky thinks that they
- 1:02:02made-up. Yeah, that they didn't really.
- 1:02:05Yeah, she yeah, they didn't make Yeah.
- 1:02:07So she's like, I, I love you. And she just pushes her off.
- 1:02:11Next, we see Dad's panicking driving through the town.
- 1:02:15And here's the thing, too, and this is I don't need to see the
- 1:02:18rescue so much as I needed to see what happened because she,
- 1:02:22you know, she sent this text to her dad and presumably he sent
- 1:02:24the 911 and it got them to go to her.
- 1:02:28The dish was loose when she was down there.
- 1:02:31Like it was loose. It seemed like it was coming
- 1:02:33loose. Yeah.
- 1:02:34We don't know how long it took for Rescue to get her.
- 1:02:37Again, I wish I knew. I wish we had that.
- 1:02:39Yeah, and he is like driving in the dark.
- 1:02:41He finally gets there. Presumably he's driven the six
- 1:02:44hours straight to get there and he sees the body being carried
- 1:02:47out. I guess they're just now backing
- 1:02:49up that body like they took them long enough.
- 1:02:53Yeah, he thinks it's his daughter.
- 1:02:54He starts to freak out, but then Becky's like Dad.
- 1:02:57And I I do not for one second buy that she's just sitting in
- 1:03:00the back of an animal. I know that they needed to have
- 1:03:02this moment, something she'd be like I love you and I want to
- 1:03:05live and I'm really sorry she'd. Probably be at a hospital by
- 1:03:07now. She at the very least she's got
- 1:03:09an IV fluid bag attached to her. Yeah, she's like severely
- 1:03:13dehydrated. She needs.
- 1:03:14Her. She.
- 1:03:14Needs medical attention. Her skin is.
- 1:03:16Fucked also she had that cut it's been exposed for.
- 1:03:20So long, yeah, a vulture got its beacon to her.
- 1:03:23Also she ate like tainted vulture meat.
- 1:03:26She's probably dying. Like actually like this is it
- 1:03:29for her? This is the end of this movie.
- 1:03:32Is actually Jeffrey Dean Morgan imagining that.
- 1:03:35Yeah, she's survived. Like, oh Dad, no, I'm not alive.
- 1:03:39She's really on the on the dish with Hunter.
- 1:03:41Yeah, or just like I I ate a vulture like in the fallen
- 1:03:44Kilios. the Vulture. Bad meat.
- 1:03:49So that's that's that's how it ends.
- 1:03:52It's just whatever. Listen.
- 1:03:54I like this movie. It's really dumb in a lot of
- 1:03:57ways though. It is.
- 1:03:59I and it's one of those like I can watch it and I can enjoy it,
- 1:04:03but when I have to take notes on it and I have to sit here and
- 1:04:05talk about it for a podcast, I'm like, wow, this is a really
- 1:04:09stupid. Yeah, there's a lot you can
- 1:04:11nitpick for sure, but. And I would, I could live with
- 1:04:13that if it wasn't for the fact that they deepfaked these
- 1:04:16fucking actresses. Yeah, that kills me, man, Put.
- 1:04:18More money back into their own pockets.
- 1:04:20It's gross. But despite all of its faults,
- 1:04:23it's flaws, it succeeded in doing what it wanted to do.
- 1:04:26It's faults. That's right.
- 1:04:28The tension is so good. Yeah.
- 1:04:30It does such a good job of making you feel nervous the
- 1:04:33entire time, so it's exceeds of what it tries to do.
- 1:04:36And and they definitely picked the right actresses for what is
- 1:04:38essentially A2 person show. True.
- 1:04:40They had good chemistry together.
- 1:04:42They did a good job, good performances.
- 1:04:43I liked it. Yeah, I'm keeping a what did I
- 1:04:47get, a 6 1/2? Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:04:49I'll keep it at that. I keep mine as seven.
- 1:04:52OK, so 6.75. All right, that's fair.
- 1:04:56Talia, she was pretty sleepy during this.
- 1:04:59She didn't like the coyote part and she doesn't trust birds.
- 1:05:02I don't think she could handle seeing the Vulture.
- 1:05:04She'd be like, look, I can't climb that stuff anyway, so I
- 1:05:07would have to carry her up there.
- 1:05:09Yeah. And I'm not carrying her up
- 1:05:11there. Talia is also afraid of heights.
- 1:05:13She is. So, and it's like she we've
- 1:05:17gotten in the habit, just she's a bigger dog and she's got a
- 1:05:21little arthritis. So we're in the habit of like,
- 1:05:23putting her on the bed and taking her down in the.
- 1:05:25Morning, she's capable of doing. All this stuff, she is capable
- 1:05:27of doing it, but we do it just to kind of, you know, give her
- 1:05:30hips a break. And she had to get X-rays done
- 1:05:32at the vet and they carried her back into the room.
- 1:05:36And Travis was like, what's wrong with her?
- 1:05:37And they're like, I, she just jumped into our arms.
- 1:05:39She didn't want to. She didn't want to jump off the
- 1:05:42table by herself. That's how we get off the bed.
- 1:05:44Yeah, that's what. She's used to, so I think this
- 1:05:47is also scary for Talia. I think so too.
- 1:05:49She's like, Oh my God, whose arms am I going to jump into?
- 1:05:51From up here, yeah. You can't make that.
- 1:05:54So I think she would give it us that one.
- 1:05:56OK, who's Zoe's ultimate worry? The Vulture, obviously.
- 1:06:02I I mean live the same life basically just on to A4 paws
- 1:06:06instead of wings. I think this is a holler for
- 1:06:09Cordelia because she the she was rooting for the vultures and
- 1:06:13they did not win. True, and also if she were up
- 1:06:15that high she would go. She feel like.
- 1:06:19She's like that at all times. And at all times, yeah.
- 1:06:23OK. Oh boy, Who did you relate to?
- 1:06:28I related to Becky's being terrified the entire way
- 1:06:32through. Being through that whole
- 1:06:34climbing process, I I couldn't do that.
- 1:06:37I would have backed out so many times that that's the only
- 1:06:39difference. I relate to Becky for the fear
- 1:06:45and the sad. The fear and the sad.
- 1:06:47Yeah, and the watching of the old videos and whatnot.
- 1:06:51Yeah, I gotcha. Dream sequel.
- 1:06:57If she is dumb enough to get herself in a situation like
- 1:07:00this, we got to go low. She's going to be in the next 47
- 1:07:03meters down. I want her on Survivor.
- 1:07:07I want it to be. She's got to get high somewhere,
- 1:07:11you know, Like that's the whole point of fall.
- 1:07:14She's got to be somewhere up high then.
- 1:07:17I do. They do stuff like that in
- 1:07:18Survivor. OK, OK, OK, what if it's not
- 1:07:20like Survivor but it's like some other survivalist game show?
- 1:07:24OK, like a knock off thing? Yeah.
- 1:07:26And like we'll combine it with 47 meters down and like like.
- 1:07:30A daredevil. Yeah, yeah, like something
- 1:07:33between like Survivor and Fear Factor and whatnot.
- 1:07:36Like maybe it involves like shark diving or whatever.
- 1:07:40Yeah, yeah. OK.
- 1:07:41So. Like you said, it's the opposite
- 1:07:43of up or down. What if she is like in the
- 1:07:46middle of the ocean, like on like one of those oil rigs or
- 1:07:49whatever gets like the whole thing gets swept apart and she's
- 1:07:54like stuck at the top of that? I want I want my reality show
- 1:07:57movie not. That's like one of their.
- 1:07:59Challenges oil rigs movie they. Have to climb an oil rig?
- 1:08:02A decommissioned oil rig. And it's in teams, so her dad's
- 1:08:05with her. Yeah, there we go.
- 1:08:08OK. And made that work.
- 1:08:11OK, what would Dom do? What would Dom do?
- 1:08:15He would just, I mean, you can't drive up this thing.
- 1:08:19You can't drive up this thing but.
- 1:08:21You can have John Cena pick him up in his fucking CIA airplane
- 1:08:28thing that can do all kinds of shit, OK, he would.
- 1:08:32Yeah, they're they're friends again, Vin Diesel.
- 1:08:36In the Fast and Furious movies, has falling from a height that
- 1:08:39would make him reach terminal velocity and landed perfectly
- 1:08:42fine on the hood of a car. No, no.
- 1:08:44OK, So what happens is he's up there and because Mr. Nobody is
- 1:08:48a little creep and is like, you know, always keeping tabs on Dom
- 1:08:51and the crew, he's like, I need him for a mission.
- 1:08:54This motherfucker is stuck at the top of the tower.
- 1:08:57This is why I I know it's irresponsible, but he's that's
- 1:09:01the best. So he has little Nobi arranged
- 1:09:04to drive a plane by and the plane remember how they had like
- 1:09:07the the cars come out the bottom with the parachutes.
- 1:09:11They do that next to the tower and he jumps onto.
- 1:09:15The car, Oh my God, that's perfect.
- 1:09:18That is exactly how that would go down.
- 1:09:20And Roman's there because we need Roman's commentary on
- 1:09:23everything. I guess it's both because he's
- 1:09:25also afraid of heights. Yeah, no, he would be like, what
- 1:09:28the fuck is wrong with you? Yeah, it was like every time we
- 1:09:32get into something more stupid, like, what were you even up
- 1:09:34there for? Like that wasn't your husband.
- 1:09:37Why are you scattering his ashes?
- 1:09:38Also, Ludacris is in space just because, yeah.
- 1:09:42Ted is just back in space. He's just like.
- 1:09:44He never came down. Yeah, that was his thing.
- 1:09:48Rowan dreamed that they came back, had to Stew together.
- 1:09:52So I was just like, no man, I got stuck out in space.
- 1:09:57They're having this experience simultaneously, and this is when
- 1:09:59he reenters the fucking stratosphere and he's like
- 1:10:04coming down like a fucking comment.
- 1:10:07Yes, All right. All of that's perfect.
- 1:10:09Wow, we elaborate on that way more than I thought we would.
- 1:10:12Yeah, I, this is one of those. I was like, I don't know how
- 1:10:14we're gonna do this bit, but those are those are the magic
- 1:10:16moments. That was that was amazing.
- 1:10:18OK, all right, this is the time for Tagline.
- 1:10:21Yes. All right, let's see.
- 1:10:26Don't stop till you drop. Before you can say goodbye,
- 1:10:33first you must say hi. Except it's HIGH.
- 1:10:39OK, that's not bad. That's pretty good.
- 1:10:42It's not my best work, but. It's not your best.
- 1:10:44We can keep going if you want to.
- 1:10:46I'm OK with the pun if you are. Let's go with it.
- 1:10:48OK, let's roll with it. OK, add a review.
- 1:10:52All right, That's the last thing, right?
- 1:10:54That's before I got to do the listener.
- 1:10:57Reviews. No, I do this first.
- 1:10:59We do listener reviews second. It's always been that way, I
- 1:11:01feel. Weird.
- 1:11:05You are weird. OK, OK, this one's a long one,
- 1:11:08but it had a lot of good points. This is a negative.
- 1:11:12Yes, OK. Yeah, I like, I know we both
- 1:11:15generally liked this movie. OK.
- 1:11:17I actually give the makers of this movie 10 out of 10 for the
- 1:11:19CGI. It really did look like they
- 1:11:20were on the top of a very high tower of some sort.
- 1:11:23Not CGI they were. Yeah, this is the same thing
- 1:11:27that Adam Green went through with Frozen.
- 1:11:28Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 1:11:30The surrounding scenery was also breathtaking and well captured.
- 1:11:33I appreciate the message they tried to get across.
- 1:11:35We never know when our time is up.
- 1:11:36We should live life to the full. We should do things that scare
- 1:11:39us to a point as much as possible.
- 1:11:41We should confront our fears but in sensible ways.
- 1:11:44However, I unfortunately have to give the makers A1 out of 10 for
- 1:11:47the way they went about getting said message across is I don't
- 1:11:49think anyone in the history of humankind has ever done
- 1:11:51something so stupid, so uncalculated and so unbelievable
- 1:11:54For those reasons, yeah, you don't know a lot about people.
- 1:11:58It's true giving them way too much credit.
- 1:12:00These two girls did not look nearly as scared as they should
- 1:12:02have looked. The Red Bull guy that jumped out
- 1:12:04of a pod hanging from a helium balloon in the stratosphere 24
- 1:12:07miles above the surface of the Earth.
- 1:12:09Risky, but highly calculated and well organized.
- 1:12:11And I think he looked a whole lot more scared.
- 1:12:14And I. Watched that live by the way
- 1:12:15when that happened. That shit was insane.
- 1:12:18In the very beginning, the rock climbing in subsequent accident
- 1:12:21was entirely plausible and realistic.
- 1:12:23People do stuff like that all the time.
- 1:12:24Birds do live on rock faces like that.
- 1:12:26But the whole plot fell apart for me when they got to the base
- 1:12:28of the tower. Who was the tower broadcasting
- 1:12:30to? Where was the nearest city to
- 1:12:32make it feasible to build something like that in the 1st
- 1:12:34place? And even if they did build
- 1:12:35something that high, how much would it weigh?
- 1:12:37The first thing I noticed was a skinny, simple tripod
- 1:12:39configuration. A tower that high would have
- 1:12:41collapsed under its own way before it transmitted anything.
- 1:12:44I have a five ton water tank at home on 4 legs thicker than
- 1:12:47that, just 20 feet above the ground.
- 1:12:50The way they climbed was so unrealistic it wasn't even
- 1:12:52funny. Simply tethered to each other
- 1:12:54like that, chilling at the top, not clipped into anything,
- 1:12:57hanging off the grill like that for likes on social media.
- 1:13:00Like I said, I don't think anyone has ever done anything
- 1:13:03that dumb, not even for social. Media.
- 1:13:05No. I have seen people do that
- 1:13:07before. I've seen people hang off
- 1:13:08building tops like that. This person has a lot more faith
- 1:13:11in humanity than I do. Yeah.
- 1:13:13What was the tower still doing there?
- 1:13:14Considering it was in the middle of absolute nowhere, it would
- 1:13:16not have been too complicated nor expensive to demolish it and
- 1:13:19sell all that steel for scrap. The diner, the only settled
- 1:13:22human activity shown in the area, was much further away than
- 1:13:24the tower was. High.
- 1:13:26The light at the top, a basic 120 Volt incandescent light
- 1:13:29bulb. Seriously.
- 1:13:30The clicking and buzzing of the relay switch.
- 1:13:33Where was the relay switch? How was it powered?
- 1:13:35Why would anyone go up there to maintain it?
- 1:13:37It would have been cheaper to just drop the whole tower and be
- 1:13:40done with it. Flare gun.
- 1:13:42Nice idea, but the binoculars in the emergency box, how the hell
- 1:13:45would they save any unauthorized idiot that climbed up there?
- 1:13:48In the event an unauthorized climber was up there, I promise
- 1:13:51you someone else on the ground would 100% be aware of it.
- 1:13:54Was 0 need for benox or flare gun all the cabling for the
- 1:13:58transmitters? What happened to it?
- 1:14:00What happened to the actual transmitters?
- 1:14:01If they'd got to the trouble to remove those things, that would
- 1:14:04have been more worth their while to just knock the whole tower
- 1:14:06over instead of instead and salvage the cables on the
- 1:14:09ground. Two days on the tower and those
- 1:14:12smartphones are still fully charged.
- 1:14:14We all wish. Yes, I noticed the battery
- 1:14:16indicators. Remember this is after the diner
- 1:14:19denied them a charge. Come on, which restaurant in the
- 1:14:21world would deny a paying customer a phone charge and
- 1:14:23trying to charge the drone from that light socket that is
- 1:14:25switching on and off every two seconds by blindly dropping a
- 1:14:28metal ring and chain and they're all while hanging up there with
- 1:14:30one hand sewing. Zero muscle strain.
- 1:14:34They had cell service at the diner just a few miles away.
- 1:14:37They had cell service at the base of the tower.
- 1:14:39I have been on a Caribbean cruise out of sight of any
- 1:14:41island and still had enough land based on service on my iPhone to
- 1:14:44send messages and then some. So they would have 100% had some
- 1:14:48service on top of that tower a mere 2000 feet above the ground.
- 1:14:51I guarantee you that the alleged interference up there, no, there
- 1:14:54would not have been any or they would have not even had that TV
- 1:14:57at the back in the day. Like I said, I appreciate the
- 1:14:59message. I just wish they could have made
- 1:15:01it believable that someone would actually do something like that.
- 1:15:04Amazing points. Yeah, this person, like tears
- 1:15:07this thing apart. With.
- 1:15:09Accuracy. Again, and I don't know if all
- 1:15:12of their points are necessarily fully accurate, but I I get hung
- 1:15:15up on the same kind of leaps and logic that this movie requires.
- 1:15:19And I'm person, I'm fine with having goofy, implausible
- 1:15:23movies. I love it, yeah.
- 1:15:25But it does make it when you're dealing with something that's
- 1:15:28real emotionally grounded like this.
- 1:15:31And we're trying to, you know, podcast and we're like, we're a
- 1:15:35review podcast, but we're also like the humor podcast.
- 1:15:37Yeah, we don't do serious. Reviews.
- 1:15:38We have to. We have to poke at it some.
- 1:15:41Yeah, it's way too easy to poke at.
- 1:15:43Yeah, it, it really is. There's a lot of holes in this
- 1:15:45thing, but you know what? It's fun.
- 1:15:48Yeah, I still enjoy it. I get.
- 1:15:50My G VS are hubied. Exactly, Yeah.
- 1:15:54And that it does the job that it's supposed to do as a horror
- 1:15:56movie. Yeah.
- 1:15:57Same. I agree.
- 1:15:59Oh OK, let's see what other people have to say First off.
- 1:16:02Oh, we have JW Chrome. Yay.
- 1:16:05Who says the twist honestly got me?
- 1:16:07Yes, thank you JWJW, stick together.
- 1:16:12It it, I forgot about the sign it that it did catch me off
- 1:16:16guard. I still don't necessarily care
- 1:16:18for it, but you know what? If it did it for you, I'm happy.
- 1:16:21I'm happy for those that works. Listen cute you like?
- 1:16:29High tension, yes. Yeah.
- 1:16:31Which is I have the same issues of.
- 1:16:33So you know what? But The thing is, they do go
- 1:16:36back and explain all that shit. They're like, this is how she
- 1:16:38did that stuff. But we did the same thing with
- 1:16:41this. We just.
- 1:16:42Don't. I didn't get that you had to
- 1:16:43tell me that. I walked away from that movie 2
- 1:16:46times not knowing that until you told me that.
- 1:16:48OK? Just like these people, like
- 1:16:51this person, so you that you read before they had too much
- 1:16:53faith in humanity, you have too much faith in me.
- 1:16:55So basically what you needed was for Scott Mann to come over here
- 1:16:59and and do this move. I'm holding Travis Hand.
- 1:17:02Yeah, exactly. That's all I needed.
- 1:17:04That's what I needed. All right and one more we have
- 1:17:08Lord Zombie who says true story. I watched this on a plane for a
- 1:17:11work trip. Did not get to see all of it but
- 1:17:13it felt like the descent on opposite day with less ladies.
- 1:17:17One day I will check out the ending.
- 1:17:18You know what? That is actually a fantastic way
- 1:17:21to describe this movie. Opposite of dissent with fewer
- 1:17:24ladies. Yeah, I actually had.
- 1:17:25Like we even have the. Cheating husband storyline?
- 1:17:28Yeah. Oh my God, you're right.
- 1:17:30Yeah, I don't even know if he knows about that.
- 1:17:32And the and the bad. The bad.
- 1:17:35Like hiking practices, Climbing practices.
- 1:17:37Not being negligent, yeah, yeah, just not like paying attention
- 1:17:41to any of the queues that this is a bad idea.
- 1:17:44You're on to Something's on. The only thing is no monsters
- 1:17:48unless you count vultures. People are the real monster in
- 1:17:51this movie. Now we're getting deep.
- 1:17:54I get you. All right, that's it for the
- 1:17:56reviews. OK.
- 1:17:58Thanks everybody for chipping in there.
- 1:18:00We really appreciate that when you all do that, we want to give
- 1:18:03a shout out to our bubbies on the Patreon we have Joe.
