- 0:00Speaker 1: We go to the big easy Jeff Legwall brought to
- 0:02Speaker 1: you by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers ib e
- 0:06Speaker 1: W Local sixty eight. Start with a job and with
- 0:09Speaker 1: a career. Kate Jeff framed this one with Sean Payton
- 0:14Speaker 1: going back. What are the upsides? What are the downsides
- 0:17Speaker 1: for coach Peyton returned back to back to New Orleans.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Well, it's the upside is the Saints are going to
- 0:26Speaker 2: be missing about half their offense, so, uh, you know,
- 0:32Speaker 2: from the football perspective, the Broncos aren't that healthy, but
- 0:36Speaker 2: they're still a lot healthier than the Saints are right now,
- 0:39Speaker 2: especially after today. You know their top two receivers are
- 0:43Speaker 2: going to be out, Taysom Hill's going to be out,
- 0:45Speaker 2: and you know they're already playing the backup quarterback. So
- 0:49Speaker 2: I think that's the the football part is is the
- 0:52Speaker 2: good part for him. It's just managing all the family
- 0:56Speaker 2: stuff off the field. I mean, that's it's a big
- 1:00Speaker 2: for him, but I would guess it's probably a bigger
- 1:03Speaker 2: deal for a lot of his family and maybe his
- 1:06Speaker 2: kids and those types of things. So I think on
- 1:11Speaker 2: a short week it's actually better for him to avoid
- 1:15Speaker 2: some of the emotion in it all because he probably
- 1:19Speaker 2: doesn't have time to let it, I'll sink in anyway.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Jeff, it's hard to imagine that the New Orleans fan
- 1:26Speaker 3: base doesn't just love Sean Payton based off all the
- 1:29Speaker 3: success that he had. But there are some people out
- 1:31Speaker 3: there that say that he bailed on the team when
- 1:34Speaker 3: they got into cap Hell. How would you characterize Sean
- 1:38Speaker 3: Payton's exit from New Orleans? Did he leave in good
- 1:40Speaker 3: graces or not?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Well, you know, Tyler, I guess it's like a lot
- 1:44Speaker 2: of things that probably depends who you ask. But the
- 1:48Speaker 2: people who are sort of critical of it sort of noticed, Okay,
- 1:53Speaker 2: when Drew Brees was done and Tom Brady was in
- 1:56Speaker 2: the division and you had a enormous hand uh in
- 2:01Speaker 2: the cap difficulties and frankly they they he's he's done
- 2:06Speaker 2: it with the Broncos already a little bit. But I
- 2:09Speaker 2: think the people who are critical of them, you know,
- 2:11Speaker 2: see those three things and are like, Okay, you you
- 2:16Speaker 2: talk about grit, and you didn't you didn't sort of
- 2:19Speaker 2: hang in when things went bad and then you were
- 2:21Speaker 2: only out a year and and came right back, uh
- 2:26Speaker 2: real fast.
- 2:26Speaker 4: No troop to the room or I'm hearing that that
- 2:28Speaker 4: there's the Broncos defense and put a bounty on this game.
- 2:34Speaker 2: You are right for the bounding.
- 2:37Speaker 4: You know, you know old news Dbak told me we're
- 2:39Speaker 4: living in the past today. How much does pastor ten
- 2:45Speaker 4: being out mean to this defense?
- 2:48Speaker 2: It's Scotty, It's it's where everything starts. When they start planning,
- 2:53Speaker 2: you know, coverages and you know the rush coverage combination.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Your starting point is going to be, okay, where we
- 3:00Speaker 2: put sir Kaan on that play, and you know what
- 3:04Speaker 2: he gives you that they don't have now is predictability
- 3:08Speaker 2: because you know people are either not even going to
- 3:12Speaker 2: challenge him, and then if they do, you know he's
- 3:16Speaker 2: gonna handle his business. So it is the ultimate predictability.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And if and if you don't you want to see
- 3:24Speaker 2: his impact, Look what Garrett Wilson did Monday night. And
- 3:28Speaker 2: look what Garrett Wilson did, you know against the Broncos
- 3:30Speaker 2: a couple of weeks ago. You know, look what Mike
- 3:33Speaker 2: Evans did when Patrick Sirtan wasn't on him. You know,
- 3:37Speaker 2: it's look what dk Metcalf has done. So they're they're
- 3:41Speaker 2: going to be they will miss him and I will
- 3:45Speaker 2: be surprised. You know, again, every player is different with
- 3:49Speaker 2: these things, but I will be very surprised if he
- 3:51Speaker 2: doesn't miss multiple weeks.
- 3:54Speaker 3: You look at the yeah, well that's not great, is it.
- 3:59Speaker 3: You look at the next stretch of games here, and
- 4:02Speaker 3: you kind of look at a handful of games, Jeff,
- 4:04Speaker 3: I see maybe about four games on the schedule that
- 4:09Speaker 3: are great opportunities for the quarterback to shine. How important
- 4:14Speaker 3: is it for the quarterback to shine in these four games?
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you better get them, Tyler when you can.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I mean to me, the you know, the real crux
- 4:26Speaker 2: of the matter is waiting. You know, the Baltimore Kansas
- 4:29Speaker 2: City double road trip, you know, right is kind of
- 4:34Speaker 2: where I think they better have him in a confident
- 4:38Speaker 2: place when they arrived to those those two games. And
- 4:42Speaker 2: I think that would be if I you know, they
- 4:44Speaker 2: don't care what I think, but if I were involved
- 4:48Speaker 2: in the decision making, I'd really want him in a
- 4:51Speaker 2: confident place by the time you get to those games.
- 4:55Speaker 2: You know, this game, you know they the Saints just
- 4:59Speaker 2: almost gave up six hundred yards to the Buccaneers last week,
- 5:02Speaker 2: So this better be a confidence game for you, Carolina,
- 5:07Speaker 2: better be a confidence game if you're the quarterback. But
- 5:12Speaker 2: you know, to me, I think their issue really is
- 5:15Speaker 2: is I think they'd like to and need to, you know,
- 5:22Speaker 2: sort of work the mechanics part of it, but you
- 5:25Speaker 2: really don't have time. You're still trying to get him
- 5:28Speaker 2: some kind of comfort level in pieces of the playbook
- 5:32Speaker 2: because right now he is playing with a very small
- 5:35Speaker 2: piece of the playbook and they are keeping them in
- 5:37Speaker 2: the same personnel groupings so to keep things manageable for
- 5:42Speaker 2: bon Knicks, they are making things very predictable for defenses,
- 5:46Speaker 2: and that's their issue right now.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Well, that being said, is that the difference of bon
- 5:51Speaker 4: Knicks quarters one through three versus quarters four last week?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think anybody in the league would
- 5:58Speaker 2: tell you that working against the prevent defense and young quarterbacks,
- 6:05Speaker 2: especially guys who've been in you know, an Oregon type
- 6:08Speaker 2: offense or a more of a spread look type offense,
- 6:12Speaker 2: the menu for the for the two minute offense is
- 6:16Speaker 2: very short compared to the rest of the game plan.
- 6:19Speaker 2: So in those situations, bo Nicks is dealing with a
- 6:23Speaker 2: defense that has backed off and he has a much
- 6:27Speaker 2: more manageable set of plays to deal with, and that's
- 6:31Speaker 2: why he looks more comfortable. It's just a very nice
- 6:34Speaker 2: pitch and catch combination. And when you know, when it's
- 6:37Speaker 2: a three score game or a two score game. But
- 6:40Speaker 2: when they tried that Scotty when the game was in
- 6:44Speaker 2: the balance, you know, it was not nearly as successful.
- 6:47Speaker 2: We just don't sort of remember it because they'd sprinkle
- 6:49Speaker 2: it in for three or four plays instead of just
- 6:53Speaker 2: running a whole quarter like that.
- 6:55Speaker 1: How many beads are you going to try to get
- 6:57Speaker 1: for yourself out there on Bourbon Street tonight?
- 6:59Speaker 2: Jeff?
- 6:59Speaker 1: What's what's that look like for you in the French
- 7:01Speaker 1: quarter tonight?
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah? You know, this isn't my first New Orleans rodeo,
- 7:06Speaker 2: so I uh, I'll probably go. I'll probably go light
- 7:10Speaker 2: on the beach.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay, all right, good good dinner though, I
- 7:13Speaker 1: mean maybe you'll collect what.
- 7:15Speaker 4: More is your go to in New Orleans?
- 7:16Speaker 1: Great food there, it is unbelievable.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Well, you can't go wrong. Just walk in somewhere, yeah
- 7:22Speaker 2: and start ordering, you know.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Well, I mean there's a Crystals down on Bourbon Street too,
- 7:26Speaker 4: I mean.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that's always go fast food you
- 7:33Speaker 2: go to New Orleans.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Right, Hey, coming up Bourbon Street about one thirty two o'clock.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Crystal is pretty good.
- 7:41Speaker 1: You know, it's Bourbon Street is French Quarter is amazing, though, Jeff,
- 7:44Speaker 1: it's it. It can be you know, some bad things,
- 7:49Speaker 1: but you can also see some of the good things
- 7:52Speaker 1: too well. Yeah, and they're all right next to each other,
- 7:54Speaker 1: like Preservation Hall for jazz music is like unbeatable, some
- 7:57Speaker 1: of the greatest. And there's like, you know, I guess
- 8:00Speaker 1: if you don't want to be married anymore, you can
- 8:01Speaker 1: go to that place too. It is one of the
- 8:03Speaker 1: more unique place.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Each other.
- 8:07Speaker 2: And then there's like a voodoo store.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Right exactly, exactly, yeah.
- 8:13Speaker 2: And then there's always the guy with it, you know,
- 8:16Speaker 2: like the rolling it's almost like a podium, like the
- 8:20Speaker 2: rolling hurricane podium.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Right right right.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's a cool place, man, It's an awesome place.
- 8:26Speaker 4: And there, yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 2: The thing is too, you know, it's like it's you
- 8:32Speaker 2: know that the ultimate Tale of two cities. You know,
- 8:34Speaker 2: walk Bourbon Street at eight in the morning and it's
- 8:37Speaker 2: a whole different tale.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I would imagine.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's awesome.
- 8:41Speaker 3: It's one.
- 8:42Speaker 1: It's my favorite. It's I don't know where your Super
- 8:45Speaker 1: Bowl cities are, Jeff and the Superdome is right there.
- 8:47Speaker 1: It's I mean, it's really close to all of that.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Where where do you rank New Orleans in terms of
- 8:52Speaker 1: Super Bowl cities, Jeff.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I think they do. They do the festival thing pretty good,
- 8:58Speaker 2: so that's why it's always been a popular stop and
- 9:01Speaker 2: always will be. I mean, hell, they had one at
- 9:03Speaker 2: two Lane before they even had the Dome. That's how
- 9:05Speaker 2: much they wanted to be here as a league.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe it. All right, Jeff, good job. We'll
- 9:11Speaker 1: talk to you next week and we'll see what the
- 9:12Speaker 1: Broncos can bring back from the Big Easy.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Thanks Jeff, You got to take care both
