- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation. Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:14Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett on this Monday, October 26th. Hope
- 0:19Speaker 2: everybody had a great weekend, as I very much had
- 0:22Speaker 2: a great weekend. I can tell you that right now,
- 0:25Speaker 2: but it's been a little difficult in my house. It's
- 0:27Speaker 2: been great with me, but I've got a couple of
- 0:30Speaker 2: people in my house that aren't too terribly happy with me.
- 0:32Speaker 2: But just what I tell them is get in line.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So anyway, but Justin Kalen, good to have you. Good
- 0:39Speaker 2: to have you scare me this morning again. I think
- 0:42Speaker 2: this is two days in a row. That you've attempted to,
- 0:46Speaker 2: you know, make me a little uncomfortable in spooky season?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Wait, what? Well, I mean, remember I- I didn't try
- 0:51Speaker 1: to scare you this morning. Oh, you didn't? Okay, well,
- 0:53Speaker 1: you opened the door, which was very nice.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Wow, me being a nice guy is being confused for
- 0:59Speaker 3: me trying to scare you?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Well, didn't you try to scare me last week? I
- 1:02Speaker 1: think it was Friday. I did on Friday. Nerds don't
- 1:04Speaker 1: try about it. I did. Okay. You jumped. Yeah, you did.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I did jump. And then today you- Okay, you surprised
- 1:11Speaker 1: me today. How's that? There you go. I'll take that.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Maybe that scare is a little strong word. I was
- 1:15Speaker 1: just opening the door for you. Yeah. I wasn't trying
- 1:18Speaker 1: to scare you.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Well, it's funny because you look at the combination now
- 1:21Speaker 2: because we have to put a little combination when we
- 1:23Speaker 2: come in the front door of the studio. And it's
- 1:26Speaker 2: hard to really read the numbers anymore.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, it's so dark. Yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Not just that, but even in the daytime, everything's kind
- 1:34Speaker 2: of– people can see where fingers have been. It's like, well,
- 1:37Speaker 2: why are we doing this then if people can just
- 1:39Speaker 2: figure it out which numbers they need to pick?
- 1:42Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I think it's kind of like it's not just the
- 1:44Speaker 3: numbers now. It's meshed with the numbers that were before.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Really? So if you just look at those like eight
- 1:49Speaker 1: numbers or whatever, they're all.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't think anybody. Well, I don't.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Well, I don't get it, though. I mean, the last
- 1:55Speaker 2: station I worked at, you had to have a little.
- 1:58Speaker 2: passcode to get in the front door. Here you got
- 2:01Speaker 2: to get... Why do we have to have all these
- 2:03Speaker 2: passcodes just to get into a radio?
- 2:05Speaker 1: You just want people to be able to walk in
- 2:06Speaker 1: all willy-nilly? Absolutely. Why not? Welcome in and have them
- 2:10Speaker 1: come on the air with you when somebody comes over
- 2:12Speaker 1: and says hello. I mean, I would.
- 2:14Speaker 2: We've had Jamie here, Officer Jamie over here, and he
- 2:16Speaker 2: comes in here and he will come on the radio
- 2:18Speaker 2: with us, but he just makes himself at home.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I like that. Yeah, but I don't think... I like that.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I don't think he would come into the building with
- 2:24Speaker 3: the intention of wanting to take things.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Oh, you think there would be people that would want
- 2:28Speaker 1: to come in and take... Absolutely. What are they going
- 2:30Speaker 1: to take here? What is here to take? Everything. Really? Oh, yeah. Okay.
- 2:36Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:36Speaker 1: What am I hearing? I don't know. What are you hearing?
- 2:39Speaker 1: I hear nothing.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I think it's a car alarm, but it sounds like
- 2:43Speaker 3: the battery's dying. It's like a sad car alarm.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I don't hear it. Okay, my hearing's going bad. Okay, good.
- 2:51Speaker 1: All right, then. Well....
- 2:53Speaker 2: I'd like to know what happened Friday night. You know,
- 2:55Speaker 2: you gave me a little bit because you had to
- 2:58Speaker 2: do a game Friday night. Do you want to share
- 3:01Speaker 2: what happened? Because it sounds like a lot of excitement
- 3:04Speaker 2: at a football game.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I mean, I.
- 3:07Speaker 3: detailed it on my show oh you did okay i
- 3:09Speaker 3: don't really know what else to say other than is
- 3:11Speaker 3: just as a game that got really ugly i mean
- 3:14Speaker 3: yeah fans lost their patience players lost their patience the
- 3:18Speaker 3: officials what it comes down to for me is the
- 3:22Speaker 3: officials lost control of the game yes that that's what
- 3:25Speaker 3: it that's what had happened.
- 3:26Speaker 1: All right so because was it a bad play what
- 3:28Speaker 1: started it all.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Just i Things just got a little contentious on the field.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I mean, you had a late hit after a certain play.
- 3:36Speaker 3: And from that point forward, it just fell apart. They
- 3:39Speaker 3: never felt like they had control of the game.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Really?
- 3:42Speaker 3: I mean, you had a fan come onto the field.
- 3:44Speaker 3: You had a coach kicked out. You had several players
- 3:47Speaker 3: kicked out.
- 3:47Speaker 5: It was.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Really?
- 3:48Speaker 3: It was the ugly side of sports that you never
- 3:51Speaker 3: want to be involved with. So when I was leaving
- 3:54Speaker 3: there on Friday night, I kind of felt gross.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Really?
- 3:57Speaker 3: Even though I didn't have anything to do with it,
- 3:59Speaker 3: I felt gross that that was the way the game ended.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Because it was a very entertaining game up until about
- 4:05Speaker 3: midway through the third quarter.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Right, right. I had a little incident at Keeneland. Oh,
- 4:10Speaker 1: did you? I did. Let's hear it. And I'll tell
- 4:13Speaker 1: you right now.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So Saturday, so Friday we went to, we had some
- 4:16Speaker 2: great friends of ours that drove up from Nashville, Tennessee
- 4:19Speaker 2: to spend the weekend in Lexington with us. So we decided, okay,
- 4:22Speaker 2: we'll stay in Lexington as well. Take in everything. Went
- 4:25Speaker 2: out to, went to a great restaurant Friday and Saturday night.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Now I didn't get to, I got takeout. I didn't
- 4:32Speaker 2: get to eat at the restaurant Saturday night, but Friday night,
- 4:37Speaker 2: unbelievable restaurant. Saturday, casually get up. I get to sleep in.
- 4:43Speaker 2: And we went to Keeneland. Of course, you know, you
- 4:45Speaker 2: got to wear your little coat and tie because Keeneland
- 4:48Speaker 2: requires you to wear a coat and tie.
- 4:51Speaker 1: But I get there. I'm walking in. The security guy goes,
- 4:55Speaker 1: open your coat. And I'm not kidding. No, please. No, sir.
- 5:00Speaker 2: It's just open your coat. And I said, okay, there
- 5:03Speaker 2: you go. take that out of your pocket. And I
- 5:07Speaker 2: took the glasses out of my, take those out too.
- 5:10Speaker 2: And I'm like, there's nothing. Oh my gosh, man. I said,
- 5:13Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I said, can you say please? I did.
- 5:17Speaker 2: That's all I said. Can you say please? He didn't
- 5:21Speaker 2: like that. He said, take that out of your pocket.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I said, Oh, I forgot. I had these others, my
- 5:26Speaker 2: sunglasses in there. I took them out. And he says, sir,
- 5:29Speaker 2: you need to back up. And I'm like, I don't
- 5:33Speaker 2: know what you want me to do. I took the
- 5:35Speaker 2: other glasses out. He goes, you need to get out
- 5:38Speaker 2: of my face. And I'm like, you know what? I
- 5:40Speaker 2: need to know what your name is. And he says,
- 5:43Speaker 2: stop pushing me. Stop pushing me. And, I mean, he
- 5:46Speaker 2: starts backing up.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I'm like, I've lost control. I didn't touch him. I
- 5:52Speaker 1: didn't do anything.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I started laughing. And I'm in total shock. I mean,
- 5:57Speaker 2: he literally starts yelling, stop pushing me. The lady that
- 6:02Speaker 2: takes your tickets or watches you as you're putting the
- 6:06Speaker 2: phone app with your ticket on it comes over and says,
- 6:11Speaker 2: are you okay?
- 6:12Speaker 1: To you or him? To me.
- 6:15Speaker 2: And I said, honestly, I'm confused. And she looks at me.
- 6:20Speaker 2: She says, you did nothing wrong. And I said, well,
- 6:24Speaker 2: I tell you right now, I want that guy's name.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I said, I've never been treated like that before in
- 6:30Speaker 2: my life. And so finally she goes, well, she goes
- 6:33Speaker 2: and gets his boss. And he says, what happened? I said, well,
- 6:38Speaker 2: he's really aggressive. And the lady right there next to
- 6:41Speaker 2: me that worked for Keeneland, she goes, he was unusually aggressive.
- 6:46Speaker 2: And he's like, well, let me get somebody else.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Hold on.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Can you stay right here? And I said, I'll be
- 6:52Speaker 2: glad to. And at this point, I'm kind of shaken.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I'm a little shaken up as to what just transpired
- 6:58Speaker 2: in front of me. Because I was just trying to
- 7:00Speaker 2: joke with the guy. He didn't think it was funny.
- 7:03Speaker 2: And all of a sudden, he starts yelling, stop pushing me.
- 7:07Speaker 2: And I'm like, I'm trying to think, is the guy
- 7:09Speaker 2: on drugs?
- 7:10Speaker 1: What's the deal?
- 7:11Speaker 2: And so he goes to my buddy that's with us
- 7:14Speaker 2: and he's like, you got to take that out of
- 7:16Speaker 2: your pocket and starts being aggressive with him. And, of course,
- 7:21Speaker 2: Michael's like, okay, I'll take him out. There you go.
- 7:25Speaker 2: And just as calm as he can be. Well, finally,
- 7:27Speaker 2: the head of security for Keeneland comes over and says, sir,
- 7:31Speaker 2: can we walk over here? And I'm like, sure, I'll
- 7:33Speaker 2: be glad to. He goes, can you tell me what
- 7:35Speaker 2: all happened? And the lady from Keeneland walked over there, too,
- 7:38Speaker 2: and said he did nothing wrong. And I'm like, I
- 7:42Speaker 2: don't think I did anything wrong. Now my mind's going,
- 7:45Speaker 2: did I do something wrong? I mean, I was trying
- 7:47Speaker 2: to cut up with him. And I mean, so finally
- 7:50Speaker 2: the guy says, would you like him fired?
- 7:52Speaker 5: What?
- 7:53Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. You get that choice. Oh, exactly. That's what
- 7:56Speaker 1: I thought. That's a lot of power to put on
- 7:59Speaker 1: your head. Exactly. I said, oh, my gosh.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Well, he was pretty aggressive. I don't appreciate what he
- 8:06Speaker 2: just did to me because he made me extremely uncomfortable.
- 8:09Speaker 2: He goes, well, we got a long camera and we're
- 8:11Speaker 2: going to go back and watch it. May I have
- 8:12Speaker 2: your phone number in case I need to call you back?
- 8:15Speaker 1: I said, absolutely. You can have my phone number.
- 8:17Speaker 2: And the other security guy says, well, we know you
- 8:19Speaker 2: did nothing wrong because the lady came up and said
- 8:22Speaker 2: you did absolutely nothing wrong.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And he goes, Mr. Bennett, would you like him fired?
- 8:28Speaker 1: I said, first of all, don't call me Mr. Bennett.
- 8:30Speaker 1: You call me Michael. And he goes, Mr. Bennett. I said, stop.
- 8:35Speaker 1: He goes, sir, I was just brought up. I said,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I get it. So was I. But he looked at
- 8:39Speaker 1: me and says, would you like him fired? To which
- 8:41Speaker 1: you said? And I said, absolutely not. I don't want
- 8:44Speaker 1: anyone losing their job today.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Well, also, you shouldn't be put in a position where
- 8:50Speaker 3: you have to make that decision.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Fair enough.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Especially if he's already told you that they heard what
- 8:55Speaker 3: happened and they're going to go back and watch the footage.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yes. That's a them decision. That shouldn't be a you decision.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I didn't think about that, but that's a great point
- 9:04Speaker 2: right there because that dude could have come back. I mean,
- 9:06Speaker 2: you got me fired. It's like, no, I didn't. You
- 9:08Speaker 2: got yourself fired. But I said, no, I don't want
- 9:10Speaker 2: him fired, but here's what I want. He needs some
- 9:13Speaker 2: more training with people. I mean, that's, he's got to
- 9:16Speaker 2: learn how to be around people because he was pretty aggressive.
- 9:19Speaker 2: And then he starts yelling at me that I'm pushing him.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And I wasn't even close to it. It literally made
- 9:25Speaker 2: me laugh. I thought he was kind of cutting up
- 9:27Speaker 2: and it's like, no, he's not cutting up. And I thought, man,
- 9:30Speaker 2: the dude's on drugs. That's the first thought I had
- 9:32Speaker 2: right there. And it was, it was a situation I
- 9:35Speaker 2: have never been through before in my life. And honest
- 9:39Speaker 2: to goodness, I hope I never get in that situation again,
- 9:41Speaker 2: but man, Keeneland, I tell you what, uh, you're something
- 9:46Speaker 2: else with some people out there.
- 9:47Speaker 1: That's unfortunate.
- 9:48Speaker 2: First of all, you make me wear a tie and
- 9:50Speaker 2: a coat and all that stuff, and then you got
- 9:53Speaker 2: this going on. It's like, wow, man. So anyway, they
- 9:56Speaker 2: were very apologetic. They said, we hope you have a
- 9:59Speaker 2: nice day.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I don't want to really take this side of things,
- 10:02Speaker 3: but I feel like I have to hear.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Okay. We truly never know what somebody else is going through. Absolutely.
- 10:10Speaker 3: I mean, who knows what maybe transpired at his house
- 10:13Speaker 3: that morning.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yes. And he was taking it out on me. That's
- 10:17Speaker 1: for certain. And you shouldn't do that.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I mean, no matter what you got going on in
- 10:21Speaker 3: your life, you should still treat everybody with kindness.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And that's exactly why I said, I don't want him
- 10:26Speaker 1: to dismiss. And they, they did.
- 10:28Speaker 2: They asked me three times, would you like him fired?
- 10:31Speaker 2: And I'm like, no, that's not what I want. That
- 10:33Speaker 2: is not what I want to happen to that poor guy.
- 10:36Speaker 2: And I, I just, I just want him to be
- 10:37Speaker 2: a little nicer to people.
- 10:38Speaker 1: That's all I want.
- 10:40Speaker 2: And, uh, but they, uh, yeah, they, uh, that was
- 10:43Speaker 2: something else. I mean, I have literally never been through
- 10:46Speaker 2: a situation like that, but, uh, anyway.
- 10:48Speaker 1: They, they were very nice. They apologize. We hope you
- 10:50Speaker 1: have a nice day. And I said, I'm going to
- 10:51Speaker 1: try my best, but Man, that shook me up. I'll
- 10:53Speaker 1: tell you that, right? Because I'm not, you know, we
- 10:55Speaker 1: were just talking last week. You and I are not fighters.
- 10:58Speaker 6: No.
- 10:59Speaker 1: In the least bit.
- 11:01Speaker 2: And we're not antagonizers or anything like that. You and
- 11:05Speaker 2: I are lovers, not fighters. So, but here that happens.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I could see you being an antagonizer in a sarcastic way.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Yes, that would be very true.
- 11:14Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 3: But I mean, especially if the person across from me
- 11:18Speaker 3: doesn't know you, then maybe they would be offended by it.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 2: More times than not, I would say. Well, I mean, anyway,
- 11:26Speaker 2: everything turned out fine. We had a great day. I
- 11:29Speaker 2: get a phone call from our good friend, Nick Roush.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Michael, where are you?
- 11:32Speaker 2: Of course, you know, I've gotten them tickets into Keeneland.
- 11:35Speaker 2: And now he wants to go into the paddock. And
- 11:37Speaker 2: it's like, okay, whatever you need, Mr.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Roush. Because, you know, when you.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Go, it's just kind of like Corey Price, Mr. Corey
- 11:44Speaker 2: P on TV. They get on Paul Feinbaum now and you're,
- 11:50Speaker 2: you're big time in us. So I got, I got, uh,
- 11:53Speaker 2: he and Steven peek in there and we had a
- 11:55Speaker 2: good time and I introduced him to one of the
- 11:58Speaker 2: premier bloodstock agents in the country, if not the world,
- 12:01Speaker 2: David and Gordo. And, uh, Steven's like, who is he?
- 12:05Speaker 2: And then I said, that's Sheree DeVoe's husband right there.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Who's Sheree? And I'm like, oh, my gosh,
- 12:12Speaker 1: you're killing me. Rouse is probably eating it up. Oh, yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Peek's just so confused.
- 12:16Speaker 2: They're having a 20-minute conversation talking about things. And, of course,
- 12:20Speaker 2: David's enjoying it because, you know, he knows who Nick
- 12:24Speaker 2: Rouse is. And Steven's like, well, what am I doing
- 12:28Speaker 2: in here? Why are we in here? Is it time
- 12:31Speaker 2: for football?
- 12:31Speaker 1: Well, I know.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I love Steven. The more I'm around Steven, the more
- 12:35Speaker 2: I really like being around him. But it was funny
- 12:38Speaker 2: because he was so far over his head.
- 12:40Speaker 1: It's not even funny.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Had no idea what was going on. And I said, okay, guys,
- 12:45Speaker 2: just follow me. Here's what we're going to do. We're
- 12:46Speaker 2: going to go from the paddock. We're going to go
- 12:48Speaker 2: out to the track and watch the race from there. And, yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 2: Roush loved it. Steven, I don't know if he enjoyed
- 12:55Speaker 2: it or not, but I hope he did. So I
- 12:57Speaker 2: did the best I could. I'm sure he did. Then
- 12:59Speaker 2: I ran into the game, and, of course, we'll get
- 13:03Speaker 2: into the game in a minute, but Steven runs over
- 13:06Speaker 2: to me and says, it's happening just exactly how I
- 13:09Speaker 2: thought it would happen.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It's like, oh, man. Oh, he was mad. Oh, he
- 13:12Speaker 1: was mad. He was mad.
- 13:13Speaker 2: He was legitimately mad about that game the way the
- 13:17Speaker 2: first quarter was going. And I wasn't yet. I was pacing,
- 13:21Speaker 2: I will say. I had to go back, and then
- 13:25Speaker 2: what happens? I run into Alan Cutler.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Oh, boy. Oh, it was just the two of us
- 13:31Speaker 1: back there.
- 13:32Speaker 2: And I will say, had a very nice conversation with Alan.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Wow. And he could not have been, he said, Michael,
- 13:40Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.
- 13:40Speaker 2: It's the first time he's been to me to talk about,
- 13:43Speaker 2: you know, because we had that, what, 10-day show on
- 13:46Speaker 2: this station?
- 13:47Speaker 1: It wasn't 10. Okay, was it five days? I don't
- 13:49Speaker 1: think it was even five. Okay, well, he goes, I'm
- 13:52Speaker 1: sorry that happened. That was my fault. Wow. Exactly. That's huge.
- 13:57Speaker 2: That's exactly what I said. And I said, Alan, I
- 13:59Speaker 2: really appreciate that. I said, I really was enjoying it.
- 14:04Speaker 2: And he goes, it's not you. And he starts complimenting me,
- 14:08Speaker 2: just saying, you do a very good job. You're great
- 14:11Speaker 2: on the radio.
- 14:11Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, wow. So when's he coming on? Wow.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, okay? But no,
- 14:20Speaker 2: it was a very nice conversation with Al. So what
- 14:22Speaker 2: a crazy day. I was about to get arrested by
- 14:25Speaker 2: a security guy at Keeneland to Alan Cutler apologizing me.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I mean, what's going on in the world today, okay?
- 14:31Speaker 2: But it was a great weekend. And, of course, yesterday
- 14:34Speaker 2: we had Churchill Downs. We'll talk a little more about
- 14:36Speaker 2: that later in the show, but it was something else.
- 14:39Speaker 2: But if you want to join us, 502-384-1450. If you
- 14:43Speaker 2: want to call in, 502-414-1450. You want to text in
- 14:47Speaker 2: on the Whiskey Thief text line, or you can tweet
- 14:49Speaker 2: me at justacatrayo. So I do want to talk about
- 14:52Speaker 2: a better part of football this hour, okay? We'll talk
- 14:55Speaker 2: about some basketball, and I got a few other things
- 14:57Speaker 2: I want to talk about second hour, but we'll save
- 14:59Speaker 2: for that for then. But right now, We got to
- 15:03Speaker 2: talk about the number eight or ninth, whichever one you
- 15:06Speaker 2: want to look at, because Justin's already corrected me this morning.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I mean, nine.
- 15:10Speaker 2: But listen, either way, I don't care. Either way, I
- 15:15Speaker 2: never dreamed in my wildest dreams that any season, Kentucky
- 15:20Speaker 2: would be going into November ranked in the top 10
- 15:25Speaker 2: in my life. You laugh and you got every right
- 15:28Speaker 2: to laugh at me.
- 15:29Speaker 1: You're exactly right. I laugh because I can relate. Yeah, exactly.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And see, I know you can. And that makes all
- 15:36Speaker 2: the difference in the world. But this is so much fun.
- 15:39Speaker 2: I got to tell you, this is and it's not
- 15:41Speaker 2: that I'm more of a football because Oscar claims, Michael,
- 15:44Speaker 2: you're more of a football fan. You got to be careful.
- 15:46Speaker 2: It's It's like, no, I'm not. I love UK football
- 15:49Speaker 2: as much as I love UK basketball. And I root
- 15:52Speaker 2: for both teams equally. Now, I know there are those
- 15:55Speaker 2: fans out there that they're only football and they're only basketball.
- 15:59Speaker 2: And I wish we could come together and just celebrate
- 16:03Speaker 2: what a great and special season we're having so far.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I mean, I.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Of course, we should have won that game Friday, Saturday night. But,
- 16:10Speaker 2: you know, you never know what's going to happen. I mean,
- 16:12Speaker 2: look what happened to Tennessee. Look what happened to BYU.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Look what's happening around the country with all these. There's
- 16:18Speaker 2: so much parody in sports today. To me, it's making
- 16:22Speaker 2: a lot of fun, Justin.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 1: No, no, no doubt.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I mean, there's no other way to spin it. It
- 16:27Speaker 3: does make it a lot of fun. And I had
- 16:28Speaker 3: a text turned to my show that said, College football playoff,
- 16:32Speaker 3: thinking about that this year, just seems like a lot
- 16:35Speaker 3: of fun because there's not like one team that stands
- 16:39Speaker 3: above the rest. There's a pack of, I don't know, 10,
- 16:43Speaker 3: 15 teams that are right there with each other.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Well, see, I still look at Ohio State and Georgia
- 16:49Speaker 2: as probably the leaders in the country. I would, too,
- 16:53Speaker 2: if Georgia didn't lose to Auburn. I hear you. But
- 16:57Speaker 2: some nights, you just have one of those nights. And
- 17:00Speaker 2: I think they did.
- 17:01Speaker 1: So, I still look.
- 17:03Speaker 2: At Georgia as one of the toughest teams in the
- 17:06Speaker 2: country and Ohio State. I'm going to put Indiana up there,
- 17:10Speaker 2: but I think it's those three teams, and for the
- 17:15Speaker 2: life of me, somebody's got to explain to me Notre Dame.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I don't get the love and attention that they get
- 17:23Speaker 2: year in, year out. I'm not going to delve into
- 17:26Speaker 2: that today. It upsets me too much because I just
- 17:31Speaker 2: think strength of schedule means something, and clearly to a
- 17:34Speaker 2: lot of the national media, it means absolutely zero because
- 17:36Speaker 2: that's what you look at. When you see Notre Dame,
- 17:39Speaker 2: I just, I hope to goodness that I think they
- 17:42Speaker 2: play what SMU and Miami that's coming up. So hopefully
- 17:47Speaker 2: if they lose both, which I don't foresee them losing
- 17:50Speaker 2: to SMU, I do see Notre Dame losing to Miami.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Cause I believe that game's down in South Florida, isn't it?
- 17:55Speaker 1: I think so.
- 17:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:56Speaker 1: So hopefully that happens. But anyway, we got to take
- 17:59Speaker 1: our first break.
- 17:59Speaker 4: 502-414-1450.
- 18:00Speaker 2: You want to text in or 502-384-1450. You want to
- 18:06Speaker 2: call in either way. I want to hear from you
- 18:08Speaker 2: today about the number ninth, number eight team in the country,
- 18:13Speaker 2: your university, Kentucky football program. We'll be right back. This
- 18:17Speaker 2: is just a guess.
- 18:19Speaker 7: He went and dug for Harlan Cole And sent the
- 18:24Speaker 7: money back to Granny But he never left Harlan Love
- 18:32Speaker 7: Where the sun comes up.
- 18:35Speaker 8: Well, let's all go Down to Doomas Walker.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Let's all go down to Doomer's Walker.
- 18:57Speaker 8: We'll get a slaw burger prize and a bottle of ski.
- 19:00Speaker 8: Bring it on.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Is that the only song that they ever had right there?
- 19:07Speaker 1: I don't know. The Kentucky Headhunters? I don't know. I
- 19:11Speaker 1: like them. I love Thomas Walker. Yeah, I do too. And,
- 19:14Speaker 1: you know, I think our buddy J.D. Shelburne did a
- 19:17Speaker 1: song with them. Oh, did he? Yeah, either a song
- 19:20Speaker 1: or a concert. I don't remember what it was. He was.
- 19:24Speaker 2: On social media talking about them not too terribly long ago.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Let's get to the Whiskey Thief text line, 502-414-1450. Justin
- 19:33Speaker 2: as well said, for Michael Bennett, it's not so much
- 19:36Speaker 2: that Kentucky is eight. I'm okay with that if the
- 19:40Speaker 2: seven teams ahead of them are actually better. I don't
- 19:43Speaker 2: feel like BYU or Notre Dame are better. That's my
- 19:47Speaker 2: only argument. All right, let's talk about that. Number one's Miami.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Don't have an issue with that. Number two, Ohio State.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Don't have an issue with that. Georgia is number three.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I don't have an issue with that, nor do I
- 20:02Speaker 2: have an issue with Indiana. Here's where I have the issue.
- 20:06Speaker 2: And I'm with Justin as well. I Utah, UCLA, BYU.
- 20:14Speaker 2: You mean to tell me now, granted I get UCLA
- 20:18Speaker 2: and Utah undefeated, but if there's so much better than UK,
- 20:23Speaker 2: why aren't they ahead of Ohio state, Georgia and Indiana,
- 20:27Speaker 2: Notre Dame. So I just look, I think I truly
- 20:33Speaker 2: believe Kentucky is better than BYU, UCLA, Utah, Notre Dame too.
- 20:39Speaker 2: I think if they head-to-head, the U.K. would beat all
- 20:43Speaker 2: of those teams right there. I think Utah would be
- 20:45Speaker 2: a hell of a game. Utah's good.
- 20:50Speaker 1: They're Mountain West. Don't sleep on them. Really? No, they're
- 20:53Speaker 1: Big 12 now. Big 12. Okay. Yeah, Big 12 is
- 20:57Speaker 1: just kind of, eh, as far as their conference.
- 20:59Speaker 3: I mean, but they're a lot like, so they remind
- 21:02Speaker 3: me a lot of Indiana last year, whereas everybody's just
- 21:05Speaker 3: doubting them because they don't play a great schedule. But
- 21:08Speaker 3: then you look at their scores, and it's like they,
- 21:11Speaker 3: other than a game at Colorado in which they won
- 21:13Speaker 3: by three, they don't have any close games. I mean,
- 21:16Speaker 3: they are smoking people. Do you think Kentucky could beat BYU?
- 21:20Speaker 1: I do.
- 21:20Speaker 8: UCLA?
- 21:22Speaker 1: I do. Notre Dame.
- 21:23Speaker 5: Yep.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Exactly. I do, too.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Now, you said it'd be a great game, but who
- 21:27Speaker 2: do you think would win between Utah and Kentucky?
- 21:31Speaker 1: I think it's a coin flip. Do you really? I do. Okay.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Fair enough. I'm not going to dispute you there. Honestly,
- 21:38Speaker 1: let me just put this out there right now. Okay.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Outside of maybe Georgia, I don't think there's a game
- 21:45Speaker 3: that Kentucky can't win.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Oh, even Indiana?
- 21:49Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Really? You have totally flipped on Kentucky. Oh, yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Because when we were teasing about that earlier in the season,
- 21:56Speaker 2: you were laughing about UK playing Indiana.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I've got two eyes. I'm not an idiot.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I can watch the football every week and see what's
- 22:04Speaker 1: going on.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I understand, yeah, but you've done a total flip, so
- 22:07Speaker 2: I respect that. I don't know how Kentucky would play
- 22:12Speaker 2: against the top three or the top four. I'm going
- 22:15Speaker 2: to just throw that out there. I don't know. Well,
- 22:18Speaker 2: but I mean, Julian sayings out. So how tough would
- 22:21Speaker 2: that be really? Well, and the court, you keep telling
- 22:23Speaker 2: me the quarterback from UCLA, it's out for the entire season.
- 22:26Speaker 1: So that, and that, That should throw them off.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I mean, if you threw out Florida state from the
- 22:31Speaker 2: playoffs a few years back, why are you keeping UCLA
- 22:34Speaker 2: up there in the top 10? So I just, I just,
- 22:39Speaker 2: I truly don't understand the love for Notre Dame.
- 22:41Speaker 1: I really don't. And yeah, I, and I agree with that.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I don't think I will ever, understand any of that,
- 22:49Speaker 2: but UK is seven and one after this weekend, never
- 22:52Speaker 2: dreamed that was going to happen. The other part that
- 22:54Speaker 2: I never dreamed was going to happen. Their first place
- 22:56Speaker 2: in the sec by themselves. That's the other crazy thing.
- 23:00Speaker 2: And I just, I, I, I, I just can't believe that. But, uh, anyway,
- 23:05Speaker 2: this was a payback game for Vanderbilt, uh, since, uh,
- 23:09Speaker 2: Vanderbilt lost, or beat Kentucky last year, and that's the
- 23:13Speaker 2: best part. I can't explain any more of that, and
- 23:16Speaker 2: nor should I have to.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Hadn't you all not beat them since 2020? Is that
- 23:19Speaker 1: what I remember hearing? Well, it was one game out
- 23:23Speaker 1: of five. Okay. Since 2020. Must have been at home.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 1: So it's just crazy to see this right here. Let
- 23:31Speaker 1: me get to this one as well.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Uh, John said, uh, John, uh, Michael, by gosh, I
- 23:36Speaker 2: am so happy for football and basketball caps.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Wow.
- 23:40Speaker 2: A top 10 football team in college football. Someone pinch me.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I'm right there with you. Somebody's got pinched me and
- 23:46Speaker 2: it might take more than one pinch.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Uh, no way. Better yet. Don't.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I love this dream and do not want to wake up. However,
- 23:54Speaker 2: this is no longer just a dream. We are here
- 23:56Speaker 2: in reality to stay in the college football world. Let's
- 23:59Speaker 2: say it together.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Cats, cats, cats.
- 24:01Speaker 2: So C-A-T-S. I got it. I got it, John. I'm
- 24:04Speaker 2: right there with you. It is something I never just
- 24:07Speaker 2: expected in my lifetime. And I because, you know, even
- 24:11Speaker 2: even my our good friend Oscar Combs. Before the season started,
- 24:15Speaker 2: there's no way, Mike. Oscar was so pessimistic about this team,
- 24:18Speaker 2: and now he's so optimistic. He just wanted to see
- 24:20Speaker 2: this team succeed one year in his lifetime, and now
- 24:24Speaker 2: it's happening. I mean, this is the best start since 1977.
- 24:28Speaker 2: It's a long time. And they had the 1976 team
- 24:32Speaker 2: out there Saturday night with Fran Kersey, the former football coach.
- 24:36Speaker 1: That was pretty cool. Art still.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I mean, Art still... Looks fantastic for a guy that is, what,
- 24:44Speaker 2: in his 70s? It is amazing how he looks. So, anyway,
- 24:50Speaker 2: just thought I'd say that. Buzz texted out, said, Michael,
- 24:55Speaker 2: you are kind of intimidating in real life.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Does he really mean that?
- 25:04Speaker 2: You're laughing. I want to know the answer. Am I
- 25:08Speaker 2: in real life intimidating?
- 25:10Speaker 1: To me, no. Exactly.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Not even in the slightest. Do you think he's being
- 25:14Speaker 3: serious or is he being facetious? You never know with Buzz.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Oh, really? You never know. I don't find myself.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Now, I've had former people that worked for me said
- 25:23Speaker 2: I'm a bit intimidating. But I think my work back
- 25:28Speaker 2: in the day, listen, I didn't. I almost said a
- 25:33Speaker 2: bad word. I almost didn't get around, except when I
- 25:36Speaker 2: was a little more comfortable and the timing was appropriate.
- 25:40Speaker 2: But when it was time to get out down there
- 25:42Speaker 2: and do some business, listen, I got down to business.
- 25:45Speaker 2: But I don't know. I've never thought of myself as intimidating.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I don't want to be intimidating. I want to be
- 25:52Speaker 2: fun-loving Michael Bennett. One person texted in fighting is something
- 25:56Speaker 2: that I try to avoid, but just like Dalton said
- 26:00Speaker 2: in roadhouse, be nice until it's time to be, to
- 26:04Speaker 2: not be nice.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I don't know. A roadhouse. Did you, that was with
- 26:09Speaker 1: Patrick Swayze. Yeah.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I never saw that movie. So I would agree with that.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It's not be nice until it's time not to be nice.
- 26:18Speaker 1: So.
- 26:18Speaker 2: 48 Handley said, the rankings are just for conversation over
- 26:24Speaker 2: the kitchen table. I'm not an odds maker or expert,
- 26:27Speaker 2: but if I could get Notre Dame even against Kentucky
- 26:30Speaker 2: on a neutral field, I'm pushing all my chips in.
- 26:33Speaker 1: No doubt. Ooh. See, I am too.
- 26:38Speaker 2: This Kentucky team with the coaching staff it currently has
- 26:46Speaker 2: they have bought into this coaching staff. They believe not
- 26:50Speaker 2: only in the coaching staff, but that coaching staff has
- 26:52Speaker 2: turned it around to make this team believe in themselves.
- 26:55Speaker 2: And you know, you hear it every time you hear
- 26:59Speaker 2: Will Stein talk about University of Kentucky football program. He goes,
- 27:03Speaker 2: this is a good team. And not only does he
- 27:07Speaker 2: sincerely believe that he has caused and forced his team
- 27:11Speaker 2: to believe in it as well. And I think that's
- 27:14Speaker 2: a big difference maker from the last 10 years that
- 27:17Speaker 2: we've had to what we are today. They truly believe, well,
- 27:20Speaker 2: the last five years, I shouldn't say 10 years because
- 27:23Speaker 2: you know, that 2018 team was pretty good, but no, they, they,
- 27:27Speaker 2: they really and legitimately believe themselves.
- 27:30Speaker 1: And I think the football program, you know, let's talk
- 27:33Speaker 1: about the, the first, what was it?
- 27:37Speaker 2: Quarter of the game. And that was a little alarming.
- 27:45Speaker 2: At one point, Vanderbilt was leading 10 to nothing. And
- 27:50Speaker 2: here's the part that I loved. You heard it from
- 27:52Speaker 2: the players. You heard it from the coaches. Nobody panicked
- 27:55Speaker 2: on the sidelines.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Because they've been down in every game this year. It
- 27:59Speaker 1: seems like that's the case. You're exactly right. I mean,
- 28:01Speaker 1: they made that point on the TV broadcast multiple times. Oh,
- 28:04Speaker 1: did they really?
- 28:05Speaker 3: This is a spot that Kentucky's comfortable in because they've
- 28:07Speaker 3: done it so often.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Why, though?
- 28:10Speaker 2: Because here's the other part. Vanderbilt owned the first quarter.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Are you ready for the time of possession? Do you
- 28:15Speaker 2: know what it was?
- 28:16Speaker 1: Oh, it was a lot to a little. 17 minutes
- 28:20Speaker 1: and 34 seconds for Vanderbilt. Their first two drives were
- 28:24Speaker 1: so long. Yes, they were.
- 28:26Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, no, this is going to be
- 28:29Speaker 2: a long night. Six of Vanderbilt's first eight third downs
- 28:35Speaker 2: were converted. That scared me. And the yardage edge in
- 28:39Speaker 2: that first quarter was 142 yards to Kentucky's 14.
- 28:45Speaker 1: How scary is that? Jared Curtis looked really good in
- 28:48Speaker 1: that first quarter. He really did.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Because, you know, I'm not going to knock him at all.
- 28:54Speaker 2: but he he's a true freshman out there. He doesn't
- 28:58Speaker 2: look like a true freshman until a couple of times
- 29:00Speaker 2: he did, but he's going to be a great quarterback.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I mean a fantastic quarterback. So he'll be, it's just
- 29:08Speaker 2: a matter of whether or not, uh, how long he's
- 29:11Speaker 2: going to stay.
- 29:13Speaker 1: So, uh, okay. Let me get to him. Hold on.
- 29:16Speaker 2: You said I missed more texts. I evidently I'm really
- 29:20Speaker 2: sucking at this anymore.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Okay.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Uh, As I've said all season, one texter said, rankings
- 29:26Speaker 2: don't matter. If UK takes care of business, then they
- 29:29Speaker 2: will be right where they need to be. Just like
- 29:32Speaker 2: Gary Allen, Scoots might be the only one getting the
- 29:36Speaker 2: 90s country reference.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Lick some cinnamon butter. Battleship.
- 29:40Speaker 2: No, we're not doing that. Now, don't bring in the
- 29:45Speaker 2: cinnamon butter. Let this be a nice day and don't
- 29:47Speaker 2: bring the cinnamon butter into this. But I don't get
- 29:50Speaker 2: the 90s reference.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Do you? Gary Allen? Who's Gary Allen? Oh, you don't
- 29:56Speaker 1: even know. I feel better now. I got it.
- 29:59Speaker 6: Oh, you do?
- 30:00Speaker 1: Obviously.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Keeneland sounds like it is too pretentious. It's trying to
- 30:07Speaker 2: be extra because it's not Churchill Downs. I kind of
- 30:10Speaker 2: agree with that.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Yeah. So they're very nice, but they do irritate me
- 30:17Speaker 1: over there. I mean, it's just a nice place to go.
- 30:21Speaker 1: My favorites, Churchill Downs always will be, even though it's
- 30:24Speaker 1: in a horrible part of town. But I just... Yeah,
- 30:27Speaker 1: it's Keeneland.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Stop with the whole coat and tie thing. Okay, let
- 30:31Speaker 2: me just go there and enjoy horse racing. Don't make
- 30:33Speaker 2: me dress up. I just feel like a lot of
- 30:35Speaker 2: people go there just to be seen, not to watch
- 30:37Speaker 2: the horses.
- 30:39Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Yeah. And that frustrates me
- 30:42Speaker 1: because I want to go watch the horses. Is it
- 30:44Speaker 1: good racing at Keeneland? I assume. Oh, it's very good racing.
- 30:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very good racing. All right, let's go ahead
- 30:50Speaker 2: and take a break. When we come back, I want
- 30:51Speaker 2: to talk more about the game because there were some
- 30:53Speaker 2: things that really happened. And some valid points I want
- 30:56Speaker 2: to make and get into it. But man, some passing
- 31:00Speaker 2: interference calls that I just, I still can't get over.
- 31:03Speaker 2: One of the guys threw a flag from 40 yards away,
- 31:07Speaker 2: calling it pass interference. And then they didn't turn around
- 31:09Speaker 2: and call pass interference against Vanderbilt. It's amazing how many
- 31:13Speaker 2: missed calls there were. And then how many calls they
- 31:16Speaker 2: made that were clearly not even close to being pass interference.
- 31:19Speaker 1: All right.
- 31:20Speaker 5: 502-414-1450.
- 31:20Speaker 1: You want to text in. I want to hear from you.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Stay right there. We got a lot more of Just
- 31:24Speaker 1: the Cats coming right up. Let's all go down to
- 31:28Speaker 1: Doomer's Walker. Let's all go down to Doomer's Walker. We'll
- 31:49Speaker 1: get a.
- 31:49Speaker 8: Small burger, fries, and a bottle of.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Skeet Bring it all down to my baby and.
- 31:57Speaker 8: Me Driving through the road.
- 32:09Speaker 9: Work Oh, the work they took forever.
- 32:13Speaker 1: On We share between.
- 32:19Speaker 9: The place you learn to say your prayers. The place
- 32:23Speaker 9: I took to praying. Floating in and breaking down my road,
- 32:29Speaker 9: dark door, dill dreams. Long before we ever met, I
- 32:35Speaker 9: made up my direction. Long before I knew the half
- 32:41Speaker 9: of half I'm sure of now.
- 32:44Speaker 5: All right.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Don't turn it off yet. Let it play a little.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Are you a fan of this, by the way? It's okay.
- 32:55Speaker 3: I mean, be honest. I don't really like it as the...
- 33:00Speaker 3: theme song after Kentucky wins.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Yeah. That part doesn't really make sense to me.
- 33:04Speaker 2: No, because you know they're doing it now between the
- 33:07Speaker 2: third and fourth quarter and they're playing it. All the
- 33:09Speaker 2: lights go out. Listen, I will say this. Let me
- 33:12Speaker 2: make a gigantic compliment. Ever since the new regime came in,
- 33:18Speaker 2: everything has changed in a unbelievably positive way.
- 33:22Speaker 1: And I love it. I love that they're trying something
- 33:25Speaker 1: between third and fourth quarter. I just... This guy's kind
- 33:29Speaker 1: of weird. I'm just not a fan of his music.
- 33:33Speaker 2: And I don't know, maybe because I don't really know
- 33:35Speaker 2: his music and I don't really care for it that much.
- 33:38Speaker 2: But it is kind of cool when they turn that
- 33:42Speaker 2: guy singing down and then you hear everybody in the
- 33:46Speaker 2: crowd singing. I guess he's more popular than I know.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Oh, for sure. I didn't know this guy. What's his name?
- 33:52Speaker 1: Tyler Childers. Yeah, Tyler Childers. Childers or Childress? Childers. Childress.
- 33:58Speaker 1: You're thinking of Matt Childress. Oh, am I really? Oh,
- 34:01Speaker 1: I am thinking of Matt Childress. So, Tyler Childress. Childress. Oh,
- 34:04Speaker 1: it is? Okay. Well, whatever his name is. Good grief. Well,
- 34:06Speaker 1: I'm not a fan.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I mean, but it's cool what they're doing. Can they
- 34:10Speaker 2: pick something else out, though? I mean, this is kind of,
- 34:13Speaker 2: is that a pep me up song?
- 34:15Speaker 3: I would, me personally, I would much prefer, oh my gosh,
- 34:20Speaker 3: why am I blanking on the name of it?
- 34:22Speaker 2: Don't Stop Believing by Journey is what I would prefer.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Something other than that.
- 34:26Speaker 1: No, Grove Street. Oh, yeah. Grove Street is fun. I'm right.
- 34:29Speaker 1: But nobody can sing that, though. Sure they can. Can
- 34:32Speaker 1: they really? All you got to do is sing the
- 34:35Speaker 1: It's a Party part. Oh, well, that would be fun then.
- 34:39Speaker 1: And then just do the... Yes. For the rest of it.
- 34:42Speaker 8: Yes.
- 34:43Speaker 1: I like that idea a thousand times more.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Instead of singing this weird guy, let's sing that. Waka Flocka.
- 34:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 34:51Speaker 2: And we could say, it's a party, it's a party.
- 34:54Speaker 2: I like that a thousand times more. And that is
- 34:57Speaker 2: a pop song.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, very much so. And that will get... Because
- 35:00Speaker 1: it's nice to hear... If you want to play that song,
- 35:04Speaker 1: play it at the end of the game when the
- 35:06Speaker 1: game's over, okay? Don't play it when you got a
- 35:09Speaker 1: close game and it's, well, it wasn't Saturday night, but
- 35:11Speaker 1: if you got a close game like we might have
- 35:14Speaker 1: against Florida or UofL, play Waka Flocka, then turn the
- 35:18Speaker 1: music down and have everybody yelling, it's a party, it's
- 35:21Speaker 1: a party. I'm telling you, everybody would be going wild.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Not playing something like this. Okay, for all of you
- 35:28Speaker 1: that like that singer, I'm sorry. Okay, and I'm not
- 35:31Speaker 1: trying to cut on him or you or anything like that.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I'm just not a fan, and it's not a feel-good
- 35:37Speaker 1: song that makes me want to, oh, let's get going.
- 35:40Speaker 2: It's just like, well, this is kind of a subdued song.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I just didn't get that. So anyway, I get that
- 35:48Speaker 2: he's from Kentucky, right? I do have that right.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 35:52Speaker 2: There's so many other singers that are from Kentucky that
- 35:54Speaker 2: have upbeat music. Can't we play something like that? So
- 35:58Speaker 2: I don't know. Kentucky, pick something else out, please. But
- 36:05Speaker 2: I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just trying to
- 36:07Speaker 2: be honest here. But what they have done in that
- 36:11Speaker 2: football environment, is nothing.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Short of amazing. Oh, it's incredible.
- 36:18Speaker 2: The lights go out. It's blue and white lights flashing everywhere.
- 36:23Speaker 2: The band, the cheerleaders have blue or white lights on them.
- 36:27Speaker 2: And it is the coolest environment I've seen that I've
- 36:31Speaker 2: ever seen at UK. And it might be one of
- 36:33Speaker 2: the cooler environments at UK. I mean, in the country.
- 36:37Speaker 1: It is. Like, it comes across on TV really well.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Does it really?
- 36:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Okay, good. There was a funny moment, though, on Saturday.
- 36:45Speaker 1: And I don't want to call her out, but I
- 36:46Speaker 1: have to. Okay. So you know how the cheerleaders, they'll
- 36:49Speaker 1: do the whole blue-white thing? Yes.
- 36:51Speaker 3: And they'll put the pom-poms on the certain side that
- 36:54Speaker 3: needs to be shouting? Well, so there was one cheerleader
- 36:57Speaker 3: on Saturday.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Oh, no. I think it was the white side. Okay.
- 37:02Speaker 3: So, like, they would all put their white pom-poms on
- 37:04Speaker 3: the white side for people to say white.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Well, this poor girl, she was doing it back. So
- 37:09Speaker 3: she was putting her blue palm towards the white side
- 37:12Speaker 3: and her white palm towards the blue side. And every
- 37:15Speaker 3: other cheerleader was doing it correctly. So she was dyslexic,
- 37:18Speaker 3: in other words. It was pretty funny. Me and the
- 37:21Speaker 3: roommate had a good laugh about it.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Oh, that poor thing. I mean, that's okay. Listen, I'm dyslexic,
- 37:27Speaker 2: so I screw up stuff all the time. So don't
- 37:30Speaker 2: worry about it. I think that's great. But it was something, though.
- 37:34Speaker 2: At one point, Vanderbilt had 30 plays and UK had
- 37:36Speaker 2: six plays.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, how great.
- 37:40Speaker 2: But here's where the momentum changed. Last five minutes of
- 37:43Speaker 2: the first half.
- 37:44Speaker 1: For sure. UK scored 14 points. That was huge.
- 37:47Speaker 2: And you knew the momentum shift had completely gone the
- 37:50Speaker 2: opposite way for Vanderbilt.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I mean, I did think it was funny.
- 37:54Speaker 2: You know, they had that little goal line play where
- 37:59Speaker 2: they did against LSU and Lane Kiffin went nuts because
- 38:03Speaker 2: he said that UK went all sides or false start, whatever.
- 38:07Speaker 2: And they had the same play that they did. And
- 38:11Speaker 2: I call it the Lane Kiffin penalty now because they
- 38:14Speaker 2: called false start on Kentucky during that play.
- 38:18Speaker 1: You don't remember that? I don't. I thought that was funny. Yeah.
- 38:22Speaker 3: But I do know those points before half were huge.
- 38:25Speaker 5: Yeah, it was.
- 38:25Speaker 3: I mean, even if you didn't get both of those touchdowns,
- 38:28Speaker 3: You need to do at least just get one. And
- 38:30Speaker 3: then knowing you get the ball coming out of the half.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Yeah. I think momentum either way was going to be
- 38:35Speaker 1: in your face. Oh, yeah. But getting two before the
- 38:37Speaker 1: half and then getting the ball back. That was math.
- 38:40Speaker 2: You're exactly correct. Was this Kenny Menchie's best game? He
- 38:45Speaker 2: had a 203 passing yards, a TD through the air.
- 38:49Speaker 2: And another one on the ground, which was an unbelievable one.
- 38:54Speaker 2: And then he went 19 of 26 with zero, zero interceptions.
- 39:03Speaker 3: I don't know if you can say it was Kenny
- 39:06Speaker 3: Mitchell's best game. Because when you look at his stat
- 39:08Speaker 3: lines all season long, I feel like they've all looked
- 39:12Speaker 3: the exact same.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:14Speaker 3: I mean, he's throwing for about 200. 220 yards. He's
- 39:19Speaker 3: throwing a touchdown or two. He's not letting go of
- 39:22Speaker 3: the football and giving it over to the opponent. I mean,
- 39:24Speaker 3: I feel like, literally, I feel like it's Groundhog's Day
- 39:27Speaker 3: every time he's out.
- 39:28Speaker 1: On the field.
- 39:30Speaker 2: I got it. One texter said, Michael, leave it alone.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Everything is working right now. Cats are winning. Environment is amazing.
- 39:40Speaker 2: The song has begun.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Leave it alone, Michael. Yeah, but it's just, it's a
- 39:43Speaker 1: crap song. I mean, sorry, man. I just.
- 39:47Speaker 2: I guess I'm in the minority. I just, I, I
- 39:50Speaker 2: would rather have something else. I'll do my best to
- 39:53Speaker 2: leave it. I just, I brought it up today. It's
- 39:55Speaker 2: just like, and I won't bring it up again, but
- 39:57Speaker 2: it's just like, oh my God.
- 39:58Speaker 1: There's got a point though. I mean, if it's working
- 40:00Speaker 1: and you're, well, that's fair point. You're right. And one,
- 40:02Speaker 1: you can't be changing it now. Yeah. Okay. Well, we'll
- 40:07Speaker 1: deal with it, but you'll deal with it. Well, okay.
- 40:10Speaker 2: I'll deal with it, but it's just like, there are
- 40:12Speaker 2: so many better singers from Kentucky. Then he's kind of, he's,
- 40:16Speaker 2: He's just odd. He comes across as an odd person
- 40:18Speaker 2: to me. I'm just like, okay, whatever. And it's just
- 40:21Speaker 2: an odd song.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I like it. You do? Okay, whatever. We'll deal with this. Okay,
- 40:28Speaker 1: I'll hush. Michael and Scoots. Scott and St. Augustine here.
- 40:33Speaker 1: What's up, Scott? Good to hear you, Scott.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Cards fan. I hate UK like Scoots hates Purdue. Great
- 40:41Speaker 2: way to start. Thanks for the positivity on this Monday.
- 40:44Speaker 2: I texted recently that I am boycotting just the cats
- 40:47Speaker 2: if Will Stein becomes the next Kurt Zignetti.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Oh, no. Oh, my God. We're about to lose a list.
- 40:53Speaker 2: I don't want to do that. Please don't let me
- 40:55Speaker 2: lose you. Well, this is coming in fruition. Michael, I
- 41:01Speaker 2: renege on my words only because I love your show, sir.
- 41:04Speaker 2: This morning on Sunrise, Scoots mentioned a UofL fan probably
- 41:07Speaker 2: feels nauseated or something to the sentiment that a former
- 41:11Speaker 2: UofL quarterback is having such success at UK.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Actually, I'm loving this.
- 41:16Speaker 8: Really?
- 41:17Speaker 1: For three years now, we are watching history unfold in
- 41:21Speaker 1: college football. IU the prior to, IU and UK today.
- 41:25Speaker 1: This is awesome.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Stein is maybe more impressive as he is a first-year
- 41:31Speaker 2: coach in college.
- 41:32Speaker 1: The SEC. Wow.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Thank you, Scott. Sounds like you're an Indiana and Kentucky fan.
- 41:39Speaker 3: It sounds like it is turning.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 41:41Speaker 2: You know, as my buddies told me over there at UofL, Michael,
- 41:44Speaker 2: we're going to change this show into just the cards.
- 41:46Speaker 1: No, we're not.
- 41:47Speaker 2: We might change you into assistant coach back at UK.
- 41:50Speaker 2: So there you go. We'd be talking about a lot
- 41:52Speaker 2: of losing if it was just the cards.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, it is interesting he brings this up, though.
- 41:59Speaker 1: How do the UofL fans feel?
- 42:02Speaker 2: Because preseason... A lot of people, including myself, were predicting
- 42:08Speaker 2: that UofL was going to be in the college football playoffs. Clearly,
- 42:12Speaker 2: that's not going to happen now.
- 42:13Speaker 1: I predicted that as well. See, I didn't. I just
- 42:17Speaker 1: knew with the schedule that they had this year, there's
- 42:20Speaker 1: no way they could screw that up. I thought they
- 42:23Speaker 1: would lose one game and one game only. And here
- 42:26Speaker 1: we are today.
- 42:27Speaker 2: It's UK that has lost the one game and one
- 42:30Speaker 2: game only. I mean, I really cannot believe that. So
- 42:35Speaker 2: I'd like to hear from the UofL listeners right now.
- 42:39Speaker 2: How do you feel about watching UK have this success
- 42:42Speaker 2: and and UofL not having quite the success that they
- 42:46Speaker 2: were anticipating.
- 42:48Speaker 1: What do you think? Do you think they're losing their
- 42:50Speaker 1: mind watching Will Stein succeed?
- 42:53Speaker 3: Like Scott said, I said on my show this morning,
- 42:55Speaker 3: if I'm a Louisville fan watching this, it makes me
- 42:58Speaker 3: want to puke. At some point, some part of me
- 43:03Speaker 3: is happy for Will Stein. A small, small, small part
- 43:07Speaker 3: of it.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Oh, come on. It's more than that.
- 43:09Speaker 3: But then the other half is, or the other 95%
- 43:12Speaker 3: is just jealousy and hatred towards Kentucky.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Like, how are you all doing this?
- 43:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Well, we're not doing it. He's doing it. I mean,
- 43:22Speaker 2: it's something else. Now, do you think the day will
- 43:26Speaker 2: ever come when he doesn't L's down? He hasn't done
- 43:30Speaker 2: it yet.
- 43:30Speaker 1: I don't know. You don't think so? I don't think
- 43:32Speaker 1: so either.
- 43:33Speaker 3: By the way, Ole Miss players on Saturday, they were
- 43:35Speaker 3: all doing the horns down against Texas.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I love that. Nothing came of it. Isn't that a
- 43:40Speaker 1: rule in the SEC now?
- 43:41Speaker 2: No, that was within the Big 12. Oh, you're right. Yeah,
- 43:45Speaker 2: that was the Big 12. That would not allow them.
- 43:48Speaker 2: And if they ever instigate that into the SEC, I'm
- 43:51Speaker 2: going to lose my mind there too. They can't be
- 43:53Speaker 2: doing that.
- 43:54Speaker 1: So, oh, goody. Here it comes again. Well, maybe it
- 43:58Speaker 1: makes this show successful. So we'll play it. Maybe I
- 44:01Speaker 1: should make this my intro. How do you like that? No,
- 44:03Speaker 1: that ain't going to happen. No, thank you.
- 44:06Speaker 2: We've got to take a break. Hour two coming up
- 44:08Speaker 2: at Just the Cats. We're still talking UK football, the
- 44:10Speaker 2: number eight or ninth team in the country. Stay right there.
- 44:14Speaker 2: We'll see you in a minute.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 44:34Speaker 2: All right, we're on to our number two of Just
- 44:41Speaker 2: the Cats on this Monday, celebrating another, yet another win
- 44:45Speaker 2: over the weekend. It's just amazing how this team has
- 44:50Speaker 2: won five games in a row, and the number of
- 44:55Speaker 2: they've won more games on the road than they have
- 44:58Speaker 2: on their own field. I mean, that's just, that to
- 45:00Speaker 2: me is the craziest thing to think about right there.
- 45:03Speaker 2: And the week off comes at a perfect time, helps
- 45:06Speaker 2: get everybody healthy because the only thing that worried me
- 45:09Speaker 2: the most was watching CJ Baxter.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Run off the field. And I don't think he ever
- 45:13Speaker 1: came back, did he? He didn't. Yeah. Yeah. Which I
- 45:17Speaker 1: was worried at that point. Yes. Jason Patterson. Shout out
- 45:21Speaker 1: to Barnes and Patterson. Exactly. Barnes too. They both played
- 45:24Speaker 1: very well. Yes, they did.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Uh, but it didn't look like it was, did they
- 45:28Speaker 2: ever mentioned to what the injury was? Cause it looked
- 45:30Speaker 2: more like an arm than it was, uh, his, uh, leg.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Cause that, that was what was bothering him before. And
- 45:37Speaker 2: then last year too, when he was at Texas was
- 45:40Speaker 2: his leg.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:41Speaker 3: I don't recall them ever saying, I, all I know
- 45:43Speaker 3: is it was, it was kind of an awkward tackle
- 45:45Speaker 3: looking tackle that.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Took him a game, so that was just unfortunate. But yeah,
- 45:49Speaker 1: I don't think they alluded to it.
- 45:51Speaker 2: One person texted in, Michael, asking how Louisville fans feel
- 45:54Speaker 2: has me imagining him holding his gold chalice under their
- 45:57Speaker 2: faces to collect their tears to drink while laughing. They
- 46:01Speaker 2: sold their souls to jerk, and now the Reaper has
- 46:05Speaker 2: come to collect.
- 46:08Speaker 1: There's a lot of truth to that, by the way.
- 46:11Speaker 1: But I'm afraid they're going to make it up in basketball.
- 46:14Speaker 1: I have to correct you on something, by the way.
- 46:15Speaker 1: All right, what did I do wrong?
- 46:17Speaker 3: Kentucky has not won more games on the road than
- 46:19Speaker 3: they have at home. Four wins at home, three on
- 46:22Speaker 3: the road.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Well, okay, they've lost one at home. They haven't lost any.
- 46:26Speaker 2: All right, let me change how I said it.
- 46:28Speaker 1: You're right.
- 46:29Speaker 2: They're undefeated on the road.
- 46:32Speaker 1: At home, they've lost a game. Does that continue against Tennessee?
- 46:36Speaker 1: I sure hope so. Also, how about Tennessee?
- 46:40Speaker 3: You freaking bums couldn't win to make Kentucky-Tennessee a top
- 46:43Speaker 3: ten matchup.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Losers. Yeah. Well, did you see how the players
- 46:48Speaker 1: acted after the game? No. Down in South Carolina? Uh-uh.
- 46:51Speaker 1: There were a number of players that... push people to
- 46:56Speaker 1: the ground as they were coming off the field. Really? Yeah.
- 47:00Speaker 2: So the fans were, obviously South Carolina was going down
- 47:04Speaker 2: to celebrate on the field. And there were a number
- 47:06Speaker 2: of players that literally pushed people to the ground, slap
- 47:10Speaker 2: their phones out of their hands, all kinds of stuff.
- 47:13Speaker 1: And I'm like, you know what? That's, that's the loser.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Mentality that drives me bonkers just to let you know
- 47:19Speaker 2: that no, there's no excuse. I mean, to me, that's assault.
- 47:22Speaker 2: And I wonder if the University of Tennessee is going
- 47:25Speaker 2: to address it or the SEC is going to address it.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Just because you lost and people are coming on the
- 47:32Speaker 2: field doesn't give you the right to go hit those people.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Not at all.
- 47:38Speaker 2: I mean, you got to just bite your tongue, bite
- 47:41Speaker 2: your lip, get off the field as fast as you can,
- 47:45Speaker 2: and move on.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Go back to Knoxville. But, yeah, and Shane Beamer's driving
- 47:50Speaker 1: me up the wall. The way that game ended, though. Yeah,
- 47:53Speaker 1: that was crazy, wasn't it? That was crazy. Yeah. I mean, Tennessee,
- 47:57Speaker 1: they probably deserved to lose, to be honest with you. Really?
- 48:00Speaker 1: With fumbling in that spot where they did? Yeah. Fumbling
- 48:03Speaker 1: right there, and all they got to do is kick
- 48:04Speaker 1: a field goal. That was nuts. I mean, it's just like,
- 48:08Speaker 1: how do you do that? Because you're Tennessee. Yeah.
- 48:12Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know whether or not to feel
- 48:14Speaker 2: sorry for the Tennessee fans more. Or the South Carolina
- 48:18Speaker 2: fans more, because now they've got to endure probably another
- 48:20Speaker 2: year with Shane Beamer.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. No question. You beat Tennessee and Florida in
- 48:24Speaker 1: the same year? There is no way they're firing him. Yeah,
- 48:25Speaker 1: he's not going anywhere. Yeah. And you know so many
- 48:28Speaker 1: of those fans don't want him there anymore. I mean,
- 48:32Speaker 1: have they walked that back now? Probably. I don't think so.
- 48:36Speaker 1: I think they still want him gone. I bet a
- 48:38Speaker 1: number of them have walked that back. Really? Okay. Well,
- 48:41Speaker 1: we'll see.
- 48:42Speaker 2: But I still think there's a number of them that
- 48:45Speaker 2: just don't have any faith in him. But it's just crazy.
- 48:48Speaker 2: This season has been crazy. And I got to believe
- 48:53Speaker 2: that somebody like Josh Heupel and Lane Kiffin, for that fact, well,
- 48:58Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin said it verbally many times, can't play these
- 49:01Speaker 2: nine games in the SEC.
- 49:03Speaker 1: We're beating each other up. It's going to hurt the
- 49:06Speaker 1: league in the end. It's incredible to watch.
- 49:08Speaker 2: I think it's fantastic. Especially with the parody. Well, UK's
- 49:13Speaker 2: having a good season. Never dreamed that was going to happen.
- 49:15Speaker 2: But the fact that UK is doing this and everybody
- 49:19Speaker 2: else is getting beat up.
- 49:21Speaker 1: It's been fun. But yeah. Am I worried about Tennessee now? Yes. Yeah, absolutely.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I am. That's that to me.
- 49:27Speaker 2: I think if you look at the final games that
- 49:31Speaker 2: UK has, you got Tennessee, Missouri, Florida in Lexington and
- 49:37Speaker 2: UofL in Lexington. That's the last four games, correct?
- 49:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 49:41Speaker 2: I'm worried more. Let's put them in order. And here's
- 49:44Speaker 2: my order right here. Tennessee, number one, as the toughest game. Missouri,
- 49:49Speaker 2: number two. And here's where I have a little difficult
- 49:54Speaker 2: of a time. I almost want to put UofL next
- 49:59Speaker 2: purely because it's a rivalry game.
- 50:03Speaker 1: You put Florida last? I might. I'd put Florida second.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Would you? Because of John Summerall.
- 50:09Speaker 3: I mean, they've spent time in the top ten this year.
- 50:11Speaker 3: But they've been way up and down.
- 50:12Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:13Speaker 1: I mean, they definitely have been, but that shows that
- 50:16Speaker 1: they have the ability to beat anyone. All right, then. Well,
- 50:18Speaker 1: then I'll put Florida next, and then you about last.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Where are you with this? I would go Tennessee, Florida, Missouri, Louisville. Oh,
- 50:28Speaker 1: you would put Florida before Missouri, really? But Florida's in
- 50:32Speaker 1: Lexington and Missouri's away in Columbia. Yeah, no, I know that.
- 50:35Speaker 1: I'm not high on that Missouri team. You're not? Not
- 50:39Speaker 1: at all.
- 50:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I just don't know what you're going to get.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Here's the problem. The last four games, I don't know
- 50:45Speaker 2: what you're going to get out of any four of
- 50:47Speaker 2: those teams. They've been so up and down all over
- 50:50Speaker 2: the place, especially with Tennessee losing to South Carolina.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? If I was a betting man,
- 50:56Speaker 1: I would have put the farm on Tennessee on that game. Now,
- 51:00Speaker 1: you had a good weekend.
- 51:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Have you already talked about it on your show? I
- 51:05Speaker 1: talked about the UCF one. Okay.
- 51:08Speaker 2: You had a very good gambling weekend, by the way.
- 51:11Speaker 2: You know, I don't really like talking much about gambling,
- 51:14Speaker 2: but I'm impressed by what you did.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Go ahead. You picked.
- 51:19Speaker 2: You said it on your show then. You picked Central
- 51:21Speaker 2: Florida to beat BYU, which I can tell you I
- 51:25Speaker 2: would have never picked that one.
- 51:26Speaker 3: For what it's worth, I did take them with the points,
- 51:28Speaker 3: so I was getting 10 and a half there. But
- 51:31Speaker 3: I liked UCF there. I also was on Cincinnati getting points.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Against Texas Tech. That's another one. What were the points,
- 51:37Speaker 1: by the way, with Cincinnati? Ooh, that I don't remember.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Don't worry about it. Maybe eight and a half. Okay.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Seven and a half. But the fact that you picked
- 51:46Speaker 1: Central Florida and Cincinnati, there's no way.
- 51:49Speaker 3: I would have picked those two teams. Also picked the
- 51:51Speaker 3: Falcons to beat the 49ers yesterday, for what it's worth.
- 51:54Speaker 3: geez louise i was on my upset pics this weekend
- 51:57Speaker 3: were spot on.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Yeah did you see the nfl referee that got kicked
- 52:00Speaker 2: in the uh you know between the legs and he's
- 52:02Speaker 2: laying on the ground and throws a flag was that
- 52:06Speaker 2: awesome i was actually watching that game you were watching
- 52:09Speaker 2: that oh my gosh it was so funny that was
- 52:12Speaker 2: him throwing a flag i'm laying flat on his back
- 52:17Speaker 2: It looks exactly like you would imagine it to look
- 52:19Speaker 2: if you haven't seen it.
- 52:20Speaker 1: I loved it. I mean, it's like, well, I'm trying
- 52:22Speaker 1: to figure out, well, who's the personal foul on?
- 52:25Speaker 2: They didn't intentionally kick him between the legs. So do
- 52:28Speaker 2: you think that was a personal foul that was deserved?
- 52:33Speaker 2: Me and the roommate didn't think so in real time.
- 52:35Speaker 2: I mean, cause there was no intent behind it.
- 52:38Speaker 1: Not at all. But that poor ref. Yeah. He gets
- 52:40Speaker 1: kicked right in like the lower gut.
- 52:42Speaker 3: And then as he's going down to the ground, he
- 52:46Speaker 3: gets kicked in the head.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Like, Holy smokes. Oh, I'm laughing, but it's not funny. So, uh,
- 52:54Speaker 1: all right, let's go back to a couple of things
- 52:55Speaker 1: with UK. Uh, Can we talk about and give enough
- 52:59Speaker 1: accolades to the defense for UK?
- 53:01Speaker 6: No.
- 53:02Speaker 2: That's who closed out that game right there. So this
- 53:06Speaker 2: is the one big switch.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I think this is.
- 53:09Speaker 2: The biggest thing that has changed from the Mark Stoops
- 53:12Speaker 2: era to the Will Stein era. And that's the halftime adjustments.
- 53:18Speaker 2: because the defense stepped it up like crazy. Vanderbilt ran
- 53:21Speaker 2: for just 15 yards on 17 carries, averaging 0.9 yards
- 53:29Speaker 2: per rush. How do you like that? UK's defense had
- 53:33Speaker 2: three sacks, forced two turnovers. I mean, it's just third quarter,
- 53:38Speaker 2: McQueen's Humphrey Grace, Sacked the Vanderbilts quarterback and Tavian Gadsen
- 53:45Speaker 2: recovered the fumble on Vanderbilts 17 yard line.
- 53:48Speaker 1: That was a huge play. That was a massive play.
- 53:50Speaker 2: The dagger was UK up 27-17 and Ty Bryant intercepted
- 53:54Speaker 2: Jared Curtis of Vanderbilt that made Bryant's third straight game
- 53:59Speaker 2: with an interception. That's where he showed that he's a freshman.
- 54:03Speaker 1: He's awesome. I love Ty Bryant. But he is awesome. Yeah. Oh,
- 54:06Speaker 1: how can you not? And then Minchie ran in the
- 54:09Speaker 1: very next play for the touchdown. That was it.
- 54:11Speaker 2: But I did like the Rodriguez play where it was
- 54:15Speaker 2: supposed to be kind of a Tim Tebow pass over
- 54:19Speaker 2: the line. But he said it was so open that
- 54:21Speaker 2: he just ran it in for a touchdown.
- 54:23Speaker 1: I don't. Well, I mean, looking back at that in hindsight. Yes.
- 54:26Speaker 1: If you go back and you rewatch that play. Yeah.
- 54:30Speaker 3: He acts like he's going to jump and pass that ball. Well,
- 54:33Speaker 3: that was designed that way. No, but I think he
- 54:34Speaker 3: has enough wherewithal to see there was a defensive back
- 54:38Speaker 3: that was going to jump that route.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 54:41Speaker 3: If he would have ended up jumping and throwing that ball,
- 54:44Speaker 3: a thousand percent would have been picked off. So then
- 54:47Speaker 3: I think he just used his high football IQ and
- 54:49Speaker 3: looked around and said, Look at this right side.
- 54:52Speaker 1: It's wide open here. Yeah. How about that? You're exactly right.
- 54:55Speaker 1: But just the fact that he just, he could walk in.
- 54:58Speaker 1: He literally, again. He could have crawled in. Oh, absolutely.
- 55:01Speaker 1: I mean, well, he would have been down because his
- 55:03Speaker 1: knee would have been down. Good point. And you know,
- 55:07Speaker 1: we said it before.
- 55:09Speaker 2: You can tell Vanderbilt's quarterback, Jared Curtis, he's going to
- 55:12Speaker 2: be a star quarterback without a doubt.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. And it's just, it's a Matt.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Now I heard from a couple of Vanderbilt people that
- 55:21Speaker 2: they did make him sign. He's, he's making $ 4 million
- 55:24Speaker 2: from Vanderbilt and he signed a two year contract. So
- 55:29Speaker 2: he's there. Evidently we'll see for the better part of
- 55:33Speaker 2: two years, but after that, does he stay?
- 55:37Speaker 1: I guess it just depends on the team success. Yeah.
- 55:41Speaker 3: If the team's not, if you're, if you're in a
- 55:43Speaker 3: spot where you're not going to the college football playoff,
- 55:45Speaker 3: which that's not going to happen for Vanderbilt this year.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:48Speaker 3: But if that, if you run that back and it's
- 55:49Speaker 3: the same case next year, yeah, I, I would see
- 55:52Speaker 3: him leave. Yeah. I, I can't help but see him leaving.
- 55:56Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 55:56Speaker 2: I mean, I, I, I hate it for Clark Lee.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Cause I, in Vanderbilt, cause I kind of feel like
- 56:02Speaker 2: UK and Vanderbilt, they're always the bottom feeders when it
- 56:06Speaker 2: comes to football. And I, I kind of feel for them.
- 56:09Speaker 2: I mean, I, I really think that, I don't know.
- 56:12Speaker 2: Is Vanderbilt going to get– they had that taste of
- 56:14Speaker 2: success with your best friend Diego Pavia.
- 56:18Speaker 1: Are they going to feel it again?
- 56:19Speaker 3: This is the part of your heart that feels for Vanderbilt.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Absolutely it does.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Because as an Indiana fan, I have not once felt
- 56:28Speaker 3: sorry for Rutgers and Michigan State, Northwestern.
- 56:32Speaker 1: Never. That would never even come into my mind. Right.
- 56:35Speaker 1: So you just have a soft spot for Vanderbilt, so
- 56:37Speaker 1: I get it. I do. Well, because my son and
- 56:39Speaker 1: my wife went to school there.
- 56:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Yeah. We know why. She didn't like me teasing. I
- 56:44Speaker 1: was teasing her this weekend. Maybe I went a little
- 56:46Speaker 1: too far. Tell her to be a fan of a
- 56:49Speaker 1: better football team. Hey-oh.
- 56:50Speaker 4: Wow.
- 56:51Speaker 1: You can tell her I said that.
- 56:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:52Speaker 1: You're going to be mad at me. Yeah.
- 56:54Speaker 2: And you want some Christmas goodies? Yeah, I don't think
- 56:57Speaker 2: I would say that. I don't think I'd do that
- 57:00Speaker 2: one right there. So you want that, what was it called, Butterfinger?
- 57:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 57:04Speaker 1: That's good stuff. By the way, we are within two
- 57:07Speaker 1: months of Christmas. Isn't that crazy? It is crazy.
- 57:10Speaker 3: I was thinking this weekend. I was like, it's about
- 57:11Speaker 3: to be November. How the hell did that happen?
- 57:14Speaker 1: And they're playing Christmas movies right now. Are they really? Oh, yeah.
- 57:18Speaker 1: It seems like the last couple of weeks they've been
- 57:20Speaker 1: playing Christmas movies. I'm like, you've got to be kidding me.
- 57:22Speaker 1: I saw Netflix uploaded a bunch. Oh, my gosh. Come on, man.
- 57:27Speaker 2: What do you think was the bigger win? South Carolina
- 57:29Speaker 2: over Tennessee? Central Florida beating BYU? Or Cincinnati beating Texas Tech?
- 57:39Speaker 1: Um.
- 57:41Speaker 3: I mean, naturally, you'd want to go UCF here just
- 57:44Speaker 3: because they beat the number two team in the country.
- 57:46Speaker 3: But were they deserving of the number two team in
- 57:48Speaker 3: the country? You can have that debate.
- 57:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:50Speaker 1: I would say Cincinnati. Would you really? Because you know
- 57:53Speaker 1: who their head coach is. Oh, that's right. It's Scott Satterfield.
- 57:56Speaker 1: How the hell Scott Satterfield winning a game like that? Oh, yeah.
- 58:01Speaker 1: I forgot about that. Yeah. Scott's tots. Scott's tots. Oh,
- 58:06Speaker 1: my gosh, man. Yeah, that's the guy I wish was
- 58:10Speaker 1: still at UofL. I really do.
- 58:12Speaker 2: As much as I really like Jeff, and I do, personally,
- 58:16Speaker 2: I like Jeff Brom. Really like that guy.
- 58:18Speaker 1: If Satterfield was at Louisville, would Vince still be at Kentucky? Oh, 100%. Oh, wait, wait, wait. Yes,
- 58:28Speaker 1: I really think so, because Jeff Brom, he and Jeff
- 58:30Speaker 1: Brom were buddies before... Jeff Brom and Vince Merrill were
- 58:38Speaker 1: a thing in college. They played together.
- 58:40Speaker 2: So, yeah, I'm positive that I feel pretty confident if
- 58:45Speaker 2: Scott Totts was still at UofL, Vince would be at UK. Now,
- 58:50Speaker 2: whether or not Will Stein would have kept him or
- 58:52Speaker 2: not is a different story. Do you think if For
- 58:56Speaker 2: some reason, Vince did not quit and go to UofL.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Do you think Will Stein would have tried to keep
- 59:02Speaker 2: and retain Vince Merrill to stay at UK?
- 59:05Speaker 1: Hold tight, Mike. I'm on the phone. Oh, you are? Oh, okay.
- 59:08Speaker 1: All right, then. Never mind.
- 59:09Speaker 2: You can answer that a little later. Let me get
- 59:11Speaker 2: to a couple of texts here. 502-414-1450 is not the text.
- 59:15Speaker 2: That's how you text in, okay? How about those brewers
- 59:18Speaker 2: coming from Michelle? You know, come on, Michelle. Are you
- 59:22Speaker 2: trying to hurt me right now? the brewers are, as
- 59:25Speaker 2: you don't have much baseball, my Tampa Bay rays are
- 59:28Speaker 2: losing down two games to nothing to, uh, the, uh, brewers.
- 59:33Speaker 2: And I'm not happy about this. So yeah, it's, it's
- 59:36Speaker 2: kind of tough. And, uh, a lot of my friends
- 59:38Speaker 2: down there in St. Pete are, uh, up in arms.
- 59:41Speaker 2: And some of my friends up here are headed down
- 59:43Speaker 2: to St. Pete to go see the games. And, uh,
- 59:46Speaker 2: so good for them. But, uh, I just, I hope
- 59:48Speaker 2: the rays can have a little, a little something.
- 59:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 59:52Speaker 2: But, uh, Zach texted out. He said, I thought UK
- 59:59Speaker 2: UofL isn't a rivalry game.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Well, to me, it's not.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: On the basketball side. On the football side, it hasn't
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: been much of a rivalry on the UK side.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: It's been UofL that's dominated this.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: So my definition says the football game maybe is a
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: little more rivalry because it's been pretty close. But the
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: basketball size, no, it's not. So there you go. Is
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: that your answer, Zach? So sorry about that. My Walmart
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: already has Christmas stuff out.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: I bet if you go to Costco or any of
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: those Sam's Club and all those places, I bet they do, too.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Once they get the Christmas trees out, I was like, oh,
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: my gosh, man. And it still feels nice out.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: You know, the weather was perfect this weekend. Weather's been
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: perfect for, like, three straight weeks. How crazy is that?
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: It's been awesome. Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I mean, that has been a lot of fun. So,
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: all right, let's go to the phone line, 502-384-1450. You
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: said Ed's on the phone?
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Ed's on the phone. Ed, what's going on, my friend?
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: Have you been eating too many hard-boiled eggs on Monday morning?
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: Saying Kentucky, Louisville is not a rival?
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I say that all the time. When it comes
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: to basketball, it's not a rivalry. UK has dominated in
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: basketball so much, it can't be a rivalry unless it's
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: pretty evenly matched up.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: It hasn't been even.
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: I told you to cut back on those whole boiled
- 1:01:25Speaker 6: eggs on Monday morning. They're not good for you. They're
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: clouding your mind.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Can I tell you, I was at Churchill Downs yesterday.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: My lunch was deviled eggs. So, listen, I'm still going
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: to eat that.
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: Either way, hard-boiled eggs, deviled eggs, you should stay away
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: from eggs. No, the reason I called is I wanted
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: to just say I was at the LSU game, Kentucky,
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: and I was also at the Vandy game on Saturday.
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: I have never seen... So much un, what's the word
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: I'm looking for? Enthusiasm toward a team. Kenny Menchie was
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: still out in the hallway there in the Nutter Center
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: signing autographs an hour after the game. I mean, these
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: kids have bought in, and Will Stein has really bought
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: into the whole culture thing. It's fun to go to
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: a football, the Keith kids, we're having a great time
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: out there.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: And the adults were just alike. It's just a total,
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: I mean, before, okay, let's face it. Let's say Mark
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: Stoops was a defensive coach. Things were kind of bland
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: around there for a while. Are you agree with me?
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Absolutely. They were the last five years. They've been bland.
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: And now, I mean, it's who would, if you'd have
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: told me back on August the 25th or whatever, a
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: couple of weeks before the season, the Kentucky would be
- 1:02:51Speaker 6: ahead in the Southeastern conference standings. I looked at you
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: like you had four eyes and eight and hard boiled
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: eggs were coming out of your ears.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: You're all about the hard, bold eggs. Aren't you?
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: Yes. Yes, I am. But anyway, and don't take this
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: the wrong way. I don't think Kentucky is great, but
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: I think they're very, very good at what they do.
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: I was, I was watching the game and they're defensive guys.
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: The linebacker, all of them, really. If they go to
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: make a tackle, they make the tackle.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: Yes, they do.
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: These guys, when Vandy didn't.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Get away from them.
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: I mean, you can say what you want about Vandy.
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: Vandy wasn't terrible. They weren't awful. They led 10-0.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Ed, let me ask you this.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: If you think the Cats aren't great, is there anyone
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: in the country that you think is great? Because we've
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: been talking this morning about how it seems like everybody's
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: so close together.
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: Even Miami is not great-great. Now, they're very good. They're
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: probably the best team in the country. But anybody that
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: goes too over, and I know it's a rivalry.
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: C.L.
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: Brown and I debated this on Saturday when I had
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: lunch with him. Well, Florida State and Miami, they're a rivalry. Well, yeah,
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: but Florida State looks so bad. for three quarters against Louisville.
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: I mean, Louisville's good. Don't get me wrong. Don't let
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: Louisville fans, when I see you at the press conference today,
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: don't bring up a shotgun and say, this guy's turned
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: into a Kentucky fan.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: No, Ed is a Kentucky fan. You've been to two
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: games now.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: No, Ed, you've been to two games now. You are
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: a Kentucky fan. So no, just go ahead and readily
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: admit it, Ed. You are a Kentucky fan and you're
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: becoming a diehard Kentucky fan.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: And I love every second of it. And thank you
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: for those eggs.
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: Hey, I'm a college football fan.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: I'm just having fun with you, Ed. All right, Ed.
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: Hey, don't tell my family that I'm a Kentucky fan
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: because this is a lot.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Anything else you want to add to it, Ed? We're
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: going to let you go.
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: No, I just wanted to say if Kentucky can win
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: three out of the last four or it's split, I
- 1:04:58Speaker 6: don't know if they'll make the playoff or the SEC
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: championship game. Wouldn't that be something in the first season
- 1:05:04Speaker 6: that he makes the SEC championship?
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Absolutely. You're exactly right. Thanks for the phone call, Ed.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Good to hear from you.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: But, you know, he's absolutely correct. The first year of
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Will Stein, here we are looking at what we're looking at.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: Just like I said a little while ago in the
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: first hour, it hasn't been since 1977 that UK went
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: 7-1 to start the season. And that's just crazy numbers
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: that he's putting up here. And nobody would have ever
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: thought this would have happened. Now, there are a couple
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: of crazies out there that were buying into it at
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: an early time period.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: I sure did not. Not at all.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: But, I mean, this is– I still can't believe I'm
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: saying it. The eighth or ninth ranked team in the country,
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: and some people are calling it to be even higher
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: than that.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: I mean, you're at the spot now where– and this
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: is going to sound crazy, but– You could realistically drop
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: two more games, and as long as they're not blowouts,
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: and I don't even care which two it is, as
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: long as they're close games, I still think, And nine
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: and three Kentucky gets in just based on, I don't know,
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: based on the wins.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: Yeah. I see. I understand. You're exactly correct. Cause that's
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: the other part. It's funny.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: What, when, when Will Stein says that to you, it's
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: interesting when we beat a team, now they're bad.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: It's like, what?
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: They were good before. And he's absolutely correct. And, uh, but, uh,
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: it's just 502-414-1450. You want to text in on the
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: whiskey thief text line, or if you want to be
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: like Ed and call in, I'd love that too.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: 502-384-1450.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Stay right there. We'll be right back with more Jessica.
- 1:06:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: The work we done was hard. At night we'd sleep
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: cause we were tired. I never thought of ever leaving
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: with your holler.
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: But I've been losing and lonesome too. I've been Colorado
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: high and I wish I was tonight.
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: But I'm just fine.
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: Kentucky blue.
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: What?
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: We're not Kentucky blue? I was thinking more so the color,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: not being sad. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Maybe this is the song they should replace that Tyler
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Childress song with.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Play this Kentucky blue song. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Why are we overthinking this whole thing? Why just not
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: do my old Kentucky home?
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Now, see, that would be beautiful. But a lot of
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: people complained about that. Before you play a game, the
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: whole stadium's been brought down because my old Kentucky home
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: is kind of sad.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: It's kind of sad.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: If you listen to the lyrics while you're singing, pay attention,
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: and it's kind of a sad song.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: And so a lot of people complain, let's not play
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: my old Kentucky home.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Let's save that for after the game. And see, that
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: made sense to me. But I am.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: Worried that if we're in a close game that we
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: bring out that song and everybody's singing it, it's like, okay, well,
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: now we're kind of down and out because we just
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: sang this Childress song, whatever his name is, and everybody
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: loses the mood.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: I don't want that to happen. Get all sad. Start crying. Exactly.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: We can't have that. Let's not start crying.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: And then now we want to sing about some lady
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: that was in Colorado getting high and she was Texas down.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: I mean, what's the text? I don't get that song.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Who was that? Britt Taylor.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Oh boy. Never heard of her. Yeah. Okay, good. Well,
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: let's not hear from her again. Might have been a
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: swing and a miss. Oh, really? We are going to
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: hear it one more time. No, please don't. We are.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: It's just a fact of the matter. Oh, my God.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: By the way, if you want a song that'll pump
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: you up. Yes. I had one yesterday. Oh, you did?
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Did you watch football over in Paris? No, I didn't
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: watch any of that, but.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: Do yourself a favor today and go watch the national
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: anthem that they played before the game. It was incredible.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: My favorite rendition of the national anthem ever.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: Oh, there was like a, what's the, I guess jazz.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: Is that what they use down in like new Orleans?
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Yeah. So it was like jazzy. Oh, it was so good.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: That's kind of cool. Saxophone and everything. Interesting. It was awesome. Okay.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: I'll go back and watch that.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: So, Yeah, because I think the music professor from UK,
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: he'll start the national anthem and steps back from the mic,
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: and it's now acapella at Commonwealth Stadium.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: That's my favorite. I love when the national anthem's acapella. Yeah,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: so do I.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: And he does an amazing job every time. Because he's
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: got a beautiful voice. Don't get me wrong, and I'm
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: not trying to deny that whatsoever. His voice is amazing,
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: but when he steps back and you hear the whole crowd, oh,
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: my gosh, it gives me cold chills.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: All right, let's talk about the U.K. basketball game. We
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: haven't gotten that yet. U.K., of course, it feels like
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: an eternity ago, but U.K. beat Texas Tech 76-65. Now,
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: in the exhibition game at Reparine on Friday night. But,
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: you know, it was an ugly start to a strong finish.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: The Wildcats missed their first eight three-pointers and turned it
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: over seven times. How do you like that for a start?
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Woof.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: But cleaned it up and only had four more turnovers
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: the rest of the game. So that was good. They
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: turned a 15-0 run. Tech led most of the first
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: half before the Wildcats went on a 15-0 run and
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: took a 33-25 lead to the half. Tech made it
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: close late, but they erased a 12-point deficit and tied
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: it with about eight and a half minutes left. But
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Kentucky outscored the Red Raiders 24-13 the.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: Rest of the way. What did you think about that
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: basketball game compared to the Little Rock game?
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: So, I didn't get to watch any of it due
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: to being on the call for the high school game. Oh,
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: that's right. The high school football fight. And when I
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: looked at the final score... That seems more indicative, I think,
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: of what you're going to get out of Kentucky this season. Like,
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: that was a great result. And you don't have to
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: worry about if JT Toppin played or not. I mean,
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: I don't know if the result changes if he does play.
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: But still, you're taking care of a team that's expected
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: to do some things this year as opposed to playing
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: a little rock where, eh, probably not.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Going to do anything, right?
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: So, aesthetically, it was a much better look than the
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Little Rock. Well, the fun part.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Was, now you get a little taste of what it's
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: going to be like if the game is close and
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: who we're going to.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: Because Momchilovic's dagger was that three-point shot he made with, what,
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: just under two minutes left. And that pretty much sealed
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: the game 73-63 and essentially ended the game.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: But, I mean, it was.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: The other part I really liked, it was a balanced
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: scoring effort. I mean, UK had five players in double figures,
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: of course, led by Mom Chilbit's 15 points and Malachi Moreno.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: Free throws really decided it. UK outscored Texas Tech 19-5
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: at the line.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: You got to like that.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: And a bit of a backcourt story with Furman transfer
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Alex Wilkins and Mason Williams running the backcourt. The Wildcats stabilized.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Pope even left Williams in to close the game instead
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: of starting point Zoom Diallo. How do you like that?
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Because that's one of your players you picked right there.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: It's pretty telling on what he thinks out of Mo Williams.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I know. Is it Mo? Mo? Mo Williams. Mason Williams. Mason. Yeah, Mason.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Mo's the coach. Yeah.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: But the only concern, though, was the rebounding. The Red
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Raiders grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, 11 in the second half,
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: and one secondhand chess points by 15 to nine.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: That's a little bit of a concern there. So- But anyway,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: it's an exhibition game.
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: It is.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: I know too much into it. Yeah.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: But here's the other fact, which I found interesting. Kentucky's
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: all time exhibition record is now 157 to 13.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: Whoa. Do we really care about that?
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: Why?
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: I don't really care. Yeah.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Well, every Pope himself warned about that a year ago.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: If we make too much of this. And, of course,
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: you know, a year ago with Kentucky beat in Purdue.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: Well, you also, you're playing three exhibition games now where
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: that's never been the case.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: I mean, you play two at the most normally. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: you're right. So, now we got one more. Is that right? So,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: we played two. We got one more. I don't remember
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: what it is.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: Now, here's the only disappointing part. I'm going to tell
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: you right now. And it wasn't... It wasn't UK basketball.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: It wasn't UK football. It was UK volleyball.
- 1:14:36Speaker 6: Oh.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: What are we doing? Yeah. Loses at home to number
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: 19 Texas A & M. First team to sweep UK
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: this year at home, ending the nation's longest home court
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: win streak at 30 games. That was a bummer. That
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: was a bummer.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: And, you know, I parked my car, and I was
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: waiting on the little golf cart to come pick me up,
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: take me to the stadium. Somebody started yelling at me,
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: Michael Bennett.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: I turned around.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: I couldn't see who was in the car yelling at me.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: I got closer. It was Craig Skinner. Maybe he shouldn't
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: have been yelling at me. I was trying to take
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: credit for his contract, by the way. He wouldn't take it. So, anyway,
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: because I deserve a little commission for that. But, yeah,
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: I mean, it was UK lost back-to-back games for the
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: first time in SEC play since 2015.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Whoa.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: So it was a bad weekend all around for volleyball, unfortunately. And,
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: of course, Friday night, UK faces Missouri at 7 o'clock,
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: and it's being.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: Televised on SEC Plus. So you can watch that. So, yeah,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: it was just that. That was the only bad thing
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: this weekend. Well, maybe you should have went to it.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: Maybe I should have. You think that would have made
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: a difference? Everything else you went through won, other than
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: your horse on Sunday. Yeah, so I had that yesterday.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: And I wasn't kidding before. For my lunch, I had
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: deviled eggs and a fruit cup. The waitress looked at
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: me and said, that's an odd selection. I said, well,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: that's what I want. Is that kind of like what
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: you like? I do.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: I love, uh, Ed was talking about hard, bold eggs.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: I love hard, bold eggs. Do you like them? I
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: love them. I love poached egg, hard, bold egg. And
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: I love deviled eggs. Only kind of eggs. I really
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: don't care much for scramble. Oh, really?
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: I don't really like the scrambled. If they're lightly scrambled,
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: I like mine runny. And then I put Tabasco sauce
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: on them. That's the way I love my eggs. But no,
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: I love, I love hard, bold eggs.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: I do. I mean, if, if, I'm getting a salad
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: and there's hard-boiled eggs. Boom, I'm eating them. Yeah, same.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Yeah, without a doubt. They're the greatest things in salad. But, no,
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: I'm all about that. What do you think about, did
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: you watch the video? There's nothing short of only describing
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: this as an epic meltdown of the New Mexico head
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: football coach. His name is Jason Eck. You didn't watch
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: it yet?
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: No. All right. All right. Let's do this. Let's go
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: ahead and take a break. I want you to watch
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: that meltdown. And I want you to talk about it
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: as soon as we get back. How do you spell ek?
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: I think it's E-L-K or E-C-K. I was about to say,
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: E-L-K is elk. Yeah, that would be elk. So I
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: think it's E-C-K. I can't read my own handwriting, but
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: I believe it's ek. E-C-K, Jason Egg. Just look up
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: New Mexico football head coach. I got it. And it'll
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: just go nuts. Yeah, we're going to talk about it
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: as soon as we get back.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: And then we got some bad news for– as if
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: it wasn't bad news.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Enough for Otega. Oh, wait.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Now it's even worse. So we'll talk about that too.
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: So we got one more segment to go. Stay right there.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: Don't go anywhere. But you can text me some more.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: I'll get you your text as well as soon as
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: we get back on Just the Cats.
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: I've been since I lost you. And as far as
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: I can see, till you come back to me, I'll
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: be Kentucky blue.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: To answer your question, no.
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: Oh, the sun shines bright.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: Oh, I like this. Yes, this is John Prine. Correct.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: This is the best verse. I couldn't agree more. I
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: love John Prine. I hated this song. Really?
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: Until my first church or my first derby when everybody
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: was singing it together.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Right. Oh, it was magical.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. I got to meet John Prine a few times.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: He was good friends with one of my dad's closest friends.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: and he was the nicest guy and just he would
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: tell you because you know he tells stories by song
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: But then when he would talk to you, he'd tell
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: you stories, even more stories.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: He was one of the most interesting people I've ever
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: met in my life. Guaranteed.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: And I loved John Prine. He was just one of
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: the coolest guys. And I was so honored to get
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: to know him a little bit. I got to talk
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: about this because, you know, Ed was talking about how
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: the players are really receptive to a lot of the kids.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: So there was a kid. So there's this Twitter account
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: called Bluegrass Sports Nation.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: I'm not familiar with it. But I saw this video.
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: And it's the most heartwarming video. And I retweeted it out.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: The most heartwarming video I've ever seen. And it's a
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: young man by the name of Caleb Breitz. who says
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: Willie Rodriguez is his favorite player on the team, you know,
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: the tight end. And you can see the young man
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: getting his autograph, and he's just so excited. And Caleb Breits,
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: I'm talking about you on the radio, because I think
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: this is the most heartwarming video I've ever seen, to
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: see him jumping up and down because he just got–
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: Willie Rodriguez autograph. And then Willie comes back and gets
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: a picture with him too. I mean, it is so
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: cool to see. I just, I love it.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: And this is just one of these things, just another
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: example of how this team is hard not to like.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: It really is.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: So I'm going to say Caleb Breach, you get a
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: little attention today too, my friend.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: Congratulations. But I'll tell you what, you're my hero, buddy.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: You need a tissue over there?
- 1:20:36Speaker 8: I know.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: I'm getting emotional. It's just, I know. It's just, it's
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: the sweetest thing. Go watch the video. I'm watching it.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: I mean, it is the sweetest thing.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: Are you, I mean, how can you not get a
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: little bit emotional watching that young man get so excited
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: meeting his favorite player?
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: It is so cool. It is cool. I mean, yeah,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: I need a Kleenex. So there you go. Shut up.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Smart Alec. I can't help. I get emotional. I'm not changing.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: You jerk. I did. I'm sitting here crying over this.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: So stupid. Anyway, Michael Bennett's dumb sometimes. John here again.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: Wow, after you guys talked about the Tyler Childress songs,
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: I get it for Kentucky football and Kentucky athletics. It's
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: a love song from the fans to the players, all
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: the Kentucky athletics. And memories made at games for all
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: the waiting and still loving no matter what. Now we
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: are together in winning ways and it is beautiful. This
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: love will never change no matter the circumstances. Yes, we
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: do say some crazy things at times, good or bad,
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: but we do it with love. I was listening to
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: that as I was working out. It is time to
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: get the championship trophies because here we come.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: Oh boy. Yeah. Okay. Fine. I'm not going to say
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: anything else about that.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: Michael, leave it alone. Is he telling me this again?
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: Everything is working right now.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: Cats are winning. Environment is amazing.
- 1:22:00Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: All right. I'll leave it alone. I just want a
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: better song. That's all. Okay. I'll leave it alone. Give
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: me somebody else to play.
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: Um, 48 Hanley said in keeping with my horse background,
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gale are out of the same mail.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: Uh, WI Mott sharpened, uh, the, the big horse, uh,
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: claws with a nice half mile move. He won't be
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: in the horse of the year discussion because he's a sprinter,
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: but Englishman is probably the best horse in the country.
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: Well, we got big, uh, big weekend.
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Are you really? I'm so pumped. Yeah. I didn't really,
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: I didn't get into Breeders' Cup until like two, three
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: years ago.
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: But now knowing that every race is like a championship
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: race makes it so exciting.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: It does. Oh, exactly.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: That's the part. And, you know, I was out at
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: Churchill this morning at five o'clock. There were a couple
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: of Breeders' Horses that came out.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Really? On the track. Yeah. I thought that was pretty cool.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: Was my boy Sovereignty there? I don't know. He might. Well,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: I don't know if he'd be here or Keeneland. for that.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: Louis Armstrong has a great jazz version of my old
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: Kentucky home. That isn't sad or depressing at all.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: Huh? I didn't know that. I'd like to hear that one.
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: Remember when the exhibitions would be against athletes in action
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: or national teams like the USSR. I know comrade scoots
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: would be in the first row for that game. Uh,
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: Karashevo Dyna scoots, whatever that means. But, uh, uh, anyway,
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: the hell does that mean?
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: I don't know. Now I'm curious. I got to wipe
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: my eyes again.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: Uh, y'all need to watch this week's SEC shorts video,
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: Halloween theme, big blue edition.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: I'll go watch it, but I don't think those guys
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: are funny. Is it just me? I think they're kind
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: of goofy.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: I don't know who it is. Oh yeah. It's, it's
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: these guys that do these SEC, uh, short little videos,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: and they think they're funny. By the way, sovereignty isn't key. Oh,
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: it is? Okay. All right. Hey, Michael, how did your
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: horse do this weekend? Cosmic Creed ran yesterday. I'll put
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: it up on YouTube channel. So I have a YouTube
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: channel for Cinekill Stable, and you can go watch it.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: But she did really well. I mean, she improved from
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: last time. Now she finished fourth.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: But last time, her first time out, she finished seventh,
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: so she's getting better. But the one thing Dale Roman
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: said yesterday, there was a lot of speed in that race.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: I mean, there was a lot. That was a heavily
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: talented field yesterday. I mean, Cherie DeVoe had a horse
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: in that one. Dallas Stewart had a horse in that one.
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: Bob Baffert had a horse in that race. I'm trying
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: to think who, I think Bill Mott. It was a
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: heavily talented field and I was very proud. She broke
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: out perfectly, was in second on the backside coming around
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: the turn. She got the, got the lead coming down
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: the stretch.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: Same thing. She got tired. So, but it's okay. I'm
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: fourth place. I'm happy. So it, Long as she keeps
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: getting better, I'm.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: Good with that. So she's a sweet horse, by the way.
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: After the race, Max and I went to the backside. And,
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: of course, she's just kissing all over Max.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: She loves Max.
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: But anyway, my favorite rendition of my old Kentucky home
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: is by the late governor and baseball commissioner, Happy Chandler.
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: Stephen Foster also wrote Camp Town Races.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: I didn't know that. Love Camp Town Races. So do I.
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: I didn't realize Stephen Foster wrote that. One person said, yes,
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: it's just you, Michael.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Thank you. I appreciate that. When somebody corrects me like that,
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: it makes me laugh. So, all right, let's talk about
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: the epic meltdown. New Mexico football head coach Jason Elk
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: getting into the face of his own player. So he
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: was over there talking to the officials because there was
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: a play where they were playing North Dakota State. And
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: his player got into the face of the North Dakota
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: State player quarterback after he threw an interception. And then
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: the North Dakota State quarterback threw him to the ground.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: He's up in arms. Why didn't you throw a flag?
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: And so the referees are all meeting over there with
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: the head coach from New Mexico State. And he immediately
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: runs over to his player and starts chewing him out.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: I mean, it almost looked like Chris Farley running over
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: towards that guy. It was the funniest thing. And I
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: kind of got to a point where I felt sorry
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: for his own player. But what did you think of
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: this video? So this dude's a loser.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: Who is? Jason Eck.
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: Really?
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: I mean, there's no reason to act like that. And
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: I don't know if you saw this, but I guess
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: it was two weeks ago when they were playing Hawaii.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: Oh, no, I did not see this. His team was
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: trailing 10 to 7. Yes.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: With like 11 minutes left in the game. And they
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: have a championship belt that they use for turnovers. You know,
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: a lot of teams do that.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: Like the basketball goal that LSU has that they don't
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: have the basketball.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: So they're down 10-7 in the game. They force a
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: turnover to get the ball back. The defense is on
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: the sidelines going bananas. They're all celebrating with the championship belt.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: And he comes over and he snags it from them,
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: yells at them, takes the belt from them.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Oh, come on.
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: And then he goes and tries to give it to
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: the defensive coordinator. So he's just, I don't know what
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: his end game.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: Is, but he seems like a controlling loser. I don't
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: like that. Let them have their fun.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: That's a big spot in the game, too.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: You all got the ball back down three. They should
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: be celebrating. Yeah, that's demotivating is what that's doing. I
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: He thought his player was in the wrong. I thought
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: it was a little over the top. But, I mean,
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: I do kind of respect it that he went straight
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: from the refs to really chew it. It just went
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: a little too hard on him. I mean, it really
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: was a little too much. All right, let's talk about
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: the bad news. Oklahoma Thunder, Otega Owe, who, you know,
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: injured his Achilles heel, is out for the season and
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: won't get to play this year, was waived by the
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: Oklahoma Thunder.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: Really? Yeah. That's, that's. I mean, I guess it makes
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: sense if he can't play for a year, but. That's brutal.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: That is brutal. I mean, you look at this, he's like,
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: he didn't enjoy. hurt himself.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: I mean, my gosh, man. And because it was a
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: two-way contract, but yeah, they waived him. Now they could
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: pick him up.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: And sign them with their G League affiliate. But, man,
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: that's just what a tough way. I mean, here you are.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: You finally are getting ready to play in the NBA. Granted,
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: it's a two-way contract, but you have an injury, a
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: seizing ending injury, and then a week later you find
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: out you're no longer on the team.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: Is OKC like the Kentucky version of the NBA?
- 1:29:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: Because they had Jalen Williams, one of their best players.
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: He got a gruesome injury last night. Had to be
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: stretched off the court.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: I see what you're saying. Man, it seems that way,
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: doesn't it? I mean, it just, ah.
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: I really feel for Otega now. Because he didn't, poor guy. Just, ah,
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: that's some really bad luck right there. So, anyway, one
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: texter said, Call her Cherie DeVoe, the voodoo queen of
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: Churchill Downs.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: Oh, boy. It is spooky season. It definitely is.
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: They had the Headless Horsemen out there at Churchill Keeneland
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: on Saturday, and then they also had them yesterday at
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: Churchill Downs.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: Do they do any sort of Halloween race? Oh, yeah.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Where the jockeys can just wear a costume? Oh, they
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: don't do that there. No.
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: But they had all the kids out there in Halloween
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: costumes yesterday.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: It was fun. I mean, I love.
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: We're walking in, and I'm seeing this kid that has
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: hay coming out of his.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: His shirt and his sleeves and under his hat. And
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: I'm like, what's going on? Cause he was a scarecrow, obviously.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: I mean, I'm thinking, Oh, then the mom has to
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: be John Mellencamp. I mean, rain on the scarecrow.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: Come on, come on. They should have a Halloween race
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: where the jockeys dress up. That would be fun. Wouldn't it? Yeah.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I would enjoy that, but it's a serious race. You
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: can even dress the horses. If you wanted. No, that
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: would freak him out. You think so? Oh, I know.
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: So I did see a post.
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: Over the weekend real quick that a guy was he
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: was shaving a horse and like a painting, basically shaving
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: a picture onto it.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: That was. Oh, really?
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: That's pretty cool.
- 1:30:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: They do that sometimes not shave a picture, but they
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: do little designs on their butt, which I think.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: Is really cool. So. All right. We're going to take
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: off tomorrow. We'll get ready for it. It's a break
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: this week, so we'll talk a little bit maybe about
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: horse racing, but we're going to talk.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: About UK constantly, so can't stop doing that. And, of course,
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: we got Nick Mangione coming on this week, too, so
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: we got to talk about that as well.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: All right, everybody. Have a great day. Appreciate you listening.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: We'll see you tomorrow on Just a Cast.
- 1:31:15Speaker 8: Just a Cast.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: Where the young folks roll.
