- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from kf I
- 0:04Speaker 1: am six forty, I know, and now Handle on the news.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, here's Bill Handle.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Good morning everybody, Tuesday now, August eighteenth. As we plug along,
- 0:25Speaker 2: let me say, Will, I can see the top of
- 0:28Speaker 2: your head, and boy, is it shiny? It is there?
- 0:33Speaker 2: You are? Yeah, you want to say, is that as
- 0:36Speaker 2: a reflective service surface? Just because just because I shave it, well,
- 0:41Speaker 2: even if you don't shave it, you don't have much there.
- 0:44Speaker 3: He's got who you and I cannot talk?
- 0:48Speaker 4: Will Hello, mister Pott calling the kettle black?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I honestly I listen. I don't deny it. The
- 0:54Speaker 2: only time I have ever done something about it is
- 1:00Speaker 2: I know. I started going bald when I was like
- 1:02Speaker 2: twenty three years old, so by the time about thirty. Yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 2: and so when I had the unwatchable television show that
- 1:11Speaker 2: once it was done contract signed the showrunner, the guy
- 1:16Speaker 2: who was running the show or had set it up.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It was a Disney show. They actually have a reality division.
- 1:26Speaker 2: It is horrible anyway, So he comes to me. He
- 1:29Speaker 2: said to me, Bill, the suits would you consider I
- 1:33Speaker 2: mean he was obviously he sort of knew what was happening.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Would you consider I mean, they liked you to try.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Would you consider wearing a wig? And then he backed
- 1:43Speaker 2: away immediately because knowing that I would probably punch him.
- 1:46Speaker 2: And to his surprise, I said, yeah, I'll do it.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I'll do it. But here is the only way I
- 1:52Speaker 2: will do it. Is it has to be a thirty
- 1:55Speaker 2: dollars wig. It can't actually match my hair color, so
- 1:59Speaker 2: you can clearly see that it's a wig. Oh and
- 2:03Speaker 2: by the way, it has to be when I put
- 2:05Speaker 2: it on in front of the camera, it has to
- 2:07Speaker 2: be off just enough so people don't know exactly what's happening,
- 2:11Speaker 2: but they know there's something wrong there. Well, and that
- 2:16Speaker 2: that conversation ended right there, I.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Mean we were we made out of squirrel.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Other than that, it has to look like a crab
- 2:24Speaker 2: that's going to just walk off the top of my head.
- 2:27Speaker 2: So no, it didn't work that way. Okay, Now, good morning,
- 2:33Speaker 2: Ann who just gave me the mute sign? Good morning,
- 2:36Speaker 2: Good morning? What are you wearing this thing with the
- 2:38Speaker 2: American flag on it? It's uh, what is that? I
- 2:43Speaker 2: can't see it? And now always charged with an American
- 2:47Speaker 2: flag on the sleeve, interesting. Okay, yeah, fair enough. I
- 2:53Speaker 2: don't know why, but.
- 2:54Speaker 5: That's a big hoodie that everybody was trying to get
- 2:57Speaker 5: or no, that.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Puffer vest was it? It could be a poofer best
- 3:07Speaker 2: but that's only four guys who are in live in
- 3:10Speaker 2: West Hollywood.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Huh okay, yeah, that doesn't sound right.
- 3:16Speaker 2: You know you can be a poof poofter. No, it's
- 3:21Speaker 2: it's a British term derogatory for gay people.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Uh.
- 3:25Speaker 2: It's like you're a poof means that you said, I
- 3:29Speaker 2: did say poofer? What poof? Poofer? It's just you're a
- 3:32Speaker 2: puff okay spelled p o o s. It's it's it's
- 3:37Speaker 2: basically sort of kind of uh pejorative, not completely pejorative,
- 3:43Speaker 2: but pretty pejorative. Okay. Anyway, Neil, good morning to you. Yeah,
- 3:50Speaker 2: and they're oh there is a kno in his poof
- 3:54Speaker 2: jacket Hello or poof.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Whatever? Hello?
- 3:59Speaker 2: Hello? Who Bill? Okay? Amy, good morning?
- 4:03Speaker 4: Hi Bill?
- 4:04Speaker 2: Okay. I think that's everybody as we move along and
- 4:08Speaker 2: start the show. Anything news of any import anybody.
- 4:11Speaker 3: It's Patrick Swayzey's birthday. Oh God, rest his soul.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Oh he's dead right yep?
- 4:18Speaker 4: Yeah for a long time.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Yeah, who Elsettery.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Uh, yeah, who else just died? What's the gal? You know?
- 4:27Speaker 2: The uh, the gal who just died thirty six years old?
- 4:30Speaker 2: I can didn't Yeah, I didn't even know when she
- 4:32Speaker 2: was alive what she was about. But uh, saved the.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Cheerleader, saved the world.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, And my question is has it come out officially
- 4:40Speaker 2: that it was suicide because there doesn't seem to be
- 4:43Speaker 2: any other any other answer there. Cardiac arst Yeah, as
- 4:48Speaker 2: a result of.
- 4:49Speaker 4: A potential overdose. Okay, not necessarily suicide.
- 4:53Speaker 2: No, it could not. And that's true. That's true, And
- 4:55Speaker 2: I'm just asking, uh, is it suicide? You're right, could
- 4:58Speaker 2: be just a you're.
- 4:59Speaker 4: Saying toxicology reports are not due back for what they're
- 5:03Speaker 4: saying months other than I got to talk back from
- 5:05Speaker 4: someone who said, well, I work in a hospital and
- 5:07Speaker 4: we get toxicology back in like an hour, So I'm
- 5:10Speaker 4: not sure what's going on with that.
- 5:12Speaker 2: And unless there is such a backlog, it doesn't matter.
- 5:15Speaker 2: You can sit and wait forever. All right, guys, I
- 5:18Speaker 2: think we're done with the show. I'm there, right, It's
- 5:22Speaker 2: been fun. Tomorrow go back to sleep. You guys take
- 5:24Speaker 2: it from here.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Uh, yeah, it's nothing new.
- 5:29Speaker 2: No, it's nothing new at all. You know, this year
- 5:32Speaker 2: I'm getting a lot of grief because this year I'm
- 5:34Speaker 2: not going to be Apostathon. It'll be the first year
- 5:38Speaker 2: since we started doing it that I'm not going to
- 5:40Speaker 2: be broadcasting Apothespostathon, and I feel bad about it. Actually, Neil, Neil,
- 5:49Speaker 2: you'll be broad You'll you'll be doing the broadcast. I think, Yes,
- 5:52Speaker 2: of course I will. Yeah, you will, Okay. I just
- 5:55Speaker 2: mentioning that because I'm getting from various people who are
- 5:59Speaker 2: not particularly happy that I'm not going to be there
- 6:01Speaker 2: because and here I am blowing my own horn, is
- 6:05Speaker 2: that we do better when I am there, But then
- 6:08Speaker 2: I beg a lot more, man, I am please, get please,
- 6:14Speaker 2: kids are starving. Nobody else will do that around here.
- 6:17Speaker 2: You won't lower yourselves.
- 6:19Speaker 5: And wait, how do you know if you do better
- 6:24Speaker 5: when you're here, if you've always been there.
- 6:26Speaker 2: That's a good point. So I'm making an assumption. Now
- 6:29Speaker 2: I'll tell you something. I'll tell you when we did
- 6:31Speaker 2: better when we didn't broadcast from Pastathon, we did better,
- 6:36Speaker 2: We raised more money.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Not during the pandemic.
- 6:40Speaker 3: That's true.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well, no, Also, I think the last couple of years,
- 6:44Speaker 2: no we did broadcasts the last couple of years.
- 6:45Speaker 4: We only didn't do it during the pandemic, right, and
- 6:47Speaker 4: that's why everybody was stuck at home and had no
- 6:49Speaker 4: way to spend any money that.
- 6:50Speaker 2: They Oh, that's a good point too, all right, you're
- 6:52Speaker 2: just analyzing the crap out of there and just you know,
- 6:57Speaker 2: basically destroying all my arguments. And I don't know that,
- 7:01Speaker 2: and I don't know the answer to that. I really don't.
- 7:03Speaker 2: So with that, let's begin the news. Boy, was that
- 7:06Speaker 2: really good? I analyzed the crap out of that one,
- 7:09Speaker 2: none of which made any sense. Okay, guys, ready to
- 7:11Speaker 2: do it? It is time for handle on the news,
- 7:14Speaker 2: Amy Neil and me Lea Storry.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Well, the sixty day piece that was going under that
- 7:23Speaker 2: memorandum understanding, Remember the sixty days it was gonna be
- 7:27Speaker 2: a cease fire. It was, it's the time is over now.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I don't know why anybody's paying attention to it because
- 7:33Speaker 2: it never happened. And the President, all through the peace agreement,
- 7:39Speaker 2: if you will, memorand of understanding, kept on saying I'm
- 7:42Speaker 2: gonna bomb Iran. I'm gonna bomb Iran if they don't
- 7:44Speaker 2: come to the table over and over again, and now
- 7:48Speaker 2: he is not going to bomb Iran. Now he can
- 7:51Speaker 2: just take his time. He has no rush, So we'll
- 7:54Speaker 2: see what happens on that one. And of course now
- 7:57Speaker 2: a'man is on the table. But anyway, the President still
- 8:01Speaker 2: maintains that there are negotiations going on, back channel negotiations
- 8:06Speaker 2: going on, and that the Iranians want to come to
- 8:09Speaker 2: the table, are desperate to have a some kind of
- 8:13Speaker 2: a deal, and the only people that are saying you're
- 8:15Speaker 2: crazy are the Iranians. And so we were talking.
- 8:19Speaker 4: To Geordannah Miller in Jerusalem and she said, the Iranians
- 8:22Speaker 4: are saying, oh, you still need to extend the memo
- 8:24Speaker 4: of understanding.
- 8:27Speaker 2: But see, the longer the Iranians are not stupid here,
- 8:30Speaker 2: the longer that this quote peace or truce goes on,
- 8:37Speaker 2: the more the president is in trouble because he promised
- 8:40Speaker 2: there would not be forever wars and this thing is
- 8:44Speaker 2: really stretching out big time.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Well.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Trump even has even said several times that Iran's negotiators
- 8:51Speaker 4: are really good. He's like, they know what they're doing.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's true, and they're not paying attention that Okay.
- 8:58Speaker 2: With that in mind, what is the negotiation. Standard tactic
- 9:02Speaker 2: on the US just make threats, make threats, and does
- 9:05Speaker 2: anybody take the president seriously at this point? Not until
- 9:10Speaker 2: there's an attack. And if there's an attack, look what
- 9:13Speaker 2: happens to the President of the Republicans politically. It's he's
- 9:17Speaker 2: put himself into a quagmire. There's no question about it.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I mean, he has no really good way to end
- 9:23Speaker 2: this other than the Iranians accepting what he calls an
- 9:28Speaker 2: immediate surrender, the wave the white flag of surrender, which
- 9:32Speaker 2: isn't going to happen anytime soon. Okay, I'll do more
- 9:35Speaker 2: of that seven o'clock.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Mayor Basque got punked and in turn kind of punked
- 9:41Speaker 4: us too. There was a poll released earlier this month
- 9:45Speaker 4: that showed La Mayor Bass had a twelve percent lead
- 9:50Speaker 4: over city council member Nthia Rahman in the race for mayor,
- 9:54Speaker 4: which will be decided in November. Median Strategies put out
- 9:58Speaker 4: the poll. Bass posted it on her social media and said,
- 10:04Speaker 4: doing the work, showing up and gaining momentum, let's do
- 10:07Speaker 4: this La. Well, the only problem is the poll was fake,
- 10:11Speaker 4: and Median Strategies came out and said, yeah, it was fake.
- 10:15Speaker 4: It was supposed to be a short term social experiment
- 10:18Speaker 4: to examine how polling information could enter and then be
- 10:23Speaker 4: spread through the political information ecosystem without being vetted.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Is a media strategy a pole company? Is it in
- 10:33Speaker 2: any way legitimate in the sense of recognized by politicos
- 10:36Speaker 2: and the news media.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Well that's the problem. It wasn't vetted and they weren't vetted.
- 10:43Speaker 4: So Median Strategies is apparently a real company. But don't
- 10:50Speaker 4: know if they've put up poles before.
- 10:52Speaker 2: That was right, So they sirm made it up. Okay,
- 10:54Speaker 2: fair enough.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Well, I see her at one billion percent above Anthea
- 11:01Speaker 5: Ramen from my poll right this second, that I just made.
- 11:05Speaker 2: All right, why don't we go ahead and take a break.
- 11:07Speaker 4: You made that up, Neil, Yeah, yeah, Okay.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Jeanie got thrown under the bus and she's coming out.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Oh, come on now.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Los Angeles Lakers Governor Jeanie Buss is opposing the potential
- 11:23Speaker 5: sale of her family's stake in the NBA team, contradictory
- 11:27Speaker 5: contradicting an earlier as ESPN report about the family's decision
- 11:31Speaker 5: to sell Bob Iker to Bob Biker and Joshua Kushner.
- 11:37Speaker 5: So this all comes down. I think they have seventeen
- 11:42Speaker 5: point eight percent, almost eighteen percent of ownership interest in
- 11:46Speaker 5: the LA Lakers. But she is, and I think that's
- 11:50Speaker 5: in perpetuity the governor, which means she has the say
- 11:54Speaker 5: over her other family members, which are fundly named Jim, John, Janey, Joey,
- 12:01Speaker 5: and Jesse. So she has the right to say.
- 12:05Speaker 2: No, and they're but they're filing a lawsuit and the
- 12:09Speaker 2: argument is going to be, is she saying no in
- 12:12Speaker 2: detriment to their interestsins? They are also beneficiary. So it's
- 12:16Speaker 2: a legal issue, and uh, we'll see which way it goes.
- 12:19Speaker 2: But believe me, the court is going to make that decision.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Okay, but why have a governor or someone in that
- 12:24Speaker 5: position if they don't have some power or authority.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Open because somebody someone has to be a trustee. It's
- 12:29Speaker 2: effect effectively it's a trust. I mean, that's the closest
- 12:32Speaker 2: analogy I can make. And if you are the trustee,
- 12:36Speaker 2: for example, and I am a beneficiary under the trust,
- 12:39Speaker 2: under the trust, and you are making decisions that are
- 12:41Speaker 2: to my detriment which you shouldn't be doing, I'm taking
- 12:44Speaker 2: you to court. That's it. If you put yourself above
- 12:50Speaker 2: my interests. We're going to court. That's the way. That's
- 12:54Speaker 2: the way I read it.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Got anything else to say about it? Nope, Okay, a
- 13:00Speaker 4: whole new kind of hazing. This is bad, oh, Pennsylvania.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Pennsylvania's Attorney Generals is more than a dozen current or
- 13:10Speaker 4: former penn State students are facing drug trafficking charges. The
- 13:15Speaker 4: students members of fraternities, mainly Delta Upsilon and Sigma Kai,
- 13:22Speaker 4: two of my favorites at Oregon State. Yeah that's Sigma High.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Okay, So the criminal complaint says that large amounts of
- 13:32Speaker 4: cocaine kilos we're brought from Philadelphia to New York to
- 13:38Speaker 4: State College where they were cut and packaged for sale,
- 13:41Speaker 4: primarily sold to penn State students and guests. Who was
- 13:45Speaker 4: doing the cutting and distributing fraternity brothers and many times
- 13:49Speaker 4: the pledges those are the ones who aren't members yet
- 13:52Speaker 4: they want to become members of the.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Fraternity and told to do this, I guess, But I mean,
- 13:58Speaker 2: this was a big deal of operation. When you're starting
- 14:01Speaker 2: to do kilos of this stuff, that ain't small potatoes anymore.
- 14:08Speaker 5: The Justice Department finalized a rule Monday that would pave
- 14:11Speaker 5: the way for people who've been barred from owning firearms
- 14:14Speaker 5: because of criminal convictions. I think it has to be
- 14:18Speaker 5: a major offense there, but not a violent one from owning.
- 14:25Speaker 5: They've been barred to own firearms because of criminal convictions there,
- 14:29Speaker 5: and they could have their gun rights reinstated. This has
- 14:35Speaker 5: been around before, right built. Wasn't there a time when
- 14:38Speaker 5: you could approach.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Or you can always approach, You always are able to
- 14:43Speaker 2: approach and ask for it?
- 14:44Speaker 3: And when's the armance here?
- 14:46Speaker 2: It depends on their state law and there's federal law.
- 14:50Speaker 2: States also have the right to say no. For example,
- 14:54Speaker 2: California has much stricter gun laws than does than do
- 14:58Speaker 2: the feds. Ample a cell type weapons are banned, a
- 15:01Speaker 2: certain amount of ammunition that a magazine can hold, that
- 15:06Speaker 2: sort of thing.
- 15:07Speaker 3: It's more difficult.
- 15:08Speaker 2: But what the Feds are saying, as far as they're concerned,
- 15:11Speaker 2: is that felons heretofore which were not allowed to own guns.
- 15:16Speaker 2: But that was not the law that was I could
- 15:19Speaker 2: have been federal law, but the Trump administration wants to
- 15:21Speaker 2: change it. I get this question all the time. One
- 15:26Speaker 2: can handle on the law constantly. I'm a felon and
- 15:28Speaker 2: I want to be able to get a gun, and
- 15:32Speaker 2: I said, come on, you know, at what point do
- 15:35Speaker 2: you not need a gun? Well, I need a gun
- 15:38Speaker 2: to commit another felony. Well that's not what they say,
- 15:43Speaker 2: but what.
- 15:44Speaker 3: They have to not be violent felonies.
- 15:47Speaker 2: That's correct, And yeah, up to this point, and this
- 15:50Speaker 2: is what that's going to happen. But now, up to
- 15:52Speaker 2: this point, it's been very, very difficult, and what the
- 15:55Speaker 2: Trump administration wants is to open it up. Yeah, if
- 15:58Speaker 2: it's a violent felony, there's still say.
- 16:00Speaker 4: I know, Jared and Bibi had a little sick down.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Jared Kushner met with Hamas and then the president's son
- 16:12Speaker 4: in law and Mideast negotiator sat down with Israeli Prime
- 16:16Speaker 4: Minister Benjamin nettan Yahoo in Jerusalem, trying to work out
- 16:21Speaker 4: how they're going to move forward with Gaza, because there's
- 16:23Speaker 4: a fifteen point piece plan put forward by the President
- 16:27Speaker 4: and I believe it was last week. Net and Yaho
- 16:29Speaker 4: came out and said, now we're not abiding by that.
- 16:31Speaker 4: And an issue is Israel pulling forces back and Hamas
- 16:36Speaker 4: giving up control and both neither shoving their weapons and
- 16:40Speaker 4: neither one wants to do that.
- 16:41Speaker 2: And we're hearing they made good progress. That's a bunch
- 16:44Speaker 2: of crap. Now my question is when Jared sat down
- 16:48Speaker 2: with Kamas leadership, did they eat homos with hamaslicious? Yeah,
- 16:56Speaker 2: there's a question.
- 16:58Speaker 3: So it is something that is not going away.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Unfortunately, record share of kindergarteners in the United States had
- 17:07Speaker 5: an exemption for a required vaccination last school year. As
- 17:11Speaker 5: the Trump Administration of courses continues to make moves to
- 17:15Speaker 5: reduce the number of vaccinations recommended for children. We know
- 17:19Speaker 5: this because this is an executive order that he signed
- 17:23Speaker 5: last week wanting to reshape the federal government's approach.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Which he can't do, by the way, he has the ability.
- 17:30Speaker 2: It's an executive order and you've got the CDC. Whatever
- 17:34Speaker 2: recommendations it makes is under the purview of the Secretary
- 17:40Speaker 2: of Health and Human Services, who is under the purview
- 17:43Speaker 2: of the president.
- 17:44Speaker 3: But the states can still make a decision on their.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Yeah, the states. Actually, anybody can make a decision. These
- 17:50Speaker 2: are simply recommendations. There's nothing mandated here. But the point
- 17:54Speaker 2: is when the government, when the government recommends, and in
- 17:58Speaker 2: this case, when the govern the president says and the
- 18:01Speaker 2: reason I'm doing this is because of the connection to autism,
- 18:05Speaker 2: which of course there is no connection at all, but
- 18:08Speaker 2: it doesn't matter. It's not going to bode well. You're
- 18:12Speaker 2: going to see you. For example, measles, you know, a
- 18:14Speaker 2: huge increase in the number of measles cases, the vast
- 18:18Speaker 2: majority which the kids were not vaccinated, like ninety something percent.
- 18:24Speaker 2: You can still theoretically get measles after having vaccinated, but
- 18:28Speaker 2: very little chance. If you're not vaccinated. There is an
- 18:32Speaker 2: excellent chance you're going to get measles if you're exposed
- 18:35Speaker 2: to it.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Ensuring ICE, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is pitching a
- 18:41Speaker 4: plan to help shield police officers who make immigration arrests.
- 18:45Speaker 4: So the idea is to subsidize liability insurance for state
- 18:49Speaker 4: and local officers who are trained and deputized to enforce
- 18:53Speaker 4: federal immigration law. Officers would get their insurance that would
- 18:58Speaker 4: cover them up to five hundred thousand dollars for personal liability,
- 19:01Speaker 4: which would fund legal fees, settlements, and judgments, and then
- 19:04Speaker 4: officers would get reimbursed up to two hundred and fifty
- 19:07Speaker 4: dollars a year, which is about what the insurance would
- 19:09Speaker 4: cost them. A prominent critic of ICE's immigration crackdown says
- 19:14Speaker 4: the program would be yet another way for officers to
- 19:16Speaker 4: avoid personal accountability for misconduct.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the question is is it going to
- 19:22Speaker 2: open up where officers think they have more leeway to
- 19:26Speaker 2: violate the law or be more aggressive in their policing.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Don't know the answer to that. We're not going to
- 19:33Speaker 2: know the answer until it happens. If it happens, when
- 19:37Speaker 2: it happens, the possibility of it happening maybe.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Kind of excellent insights, sir, sort of done now I'm done. Yeah, okay.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Sixteen year old lifeguard writer Williams. If you remember back
- 19:54Speaker 5: on July twenty fifth, very dramatic and viral now viral
- 20:00Speaker 5: video of him rescuing Nathaniel rah Raye that Nathaniel Raie
- 20:07Speaker 5: was ten years old, is ten years old and was
- 20:09Speaker 5: caught in the treacherous surf there and this young lifeguard
- 20:14Speaker 5: just bounced into action, got out there, held on to him,
- 20:19Speaker 5: very very brave. This took place in Santa Cruz, California. Well,
- 20:25Speaker 5: he has been recognized by the oval.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Of office, which is kind of neat.
- 20:28Speaker 5: It's kind of super cool because it's an incredibly heroic video.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's his job, but still it was pretty heroic.
- 20:36Speaker 2: I mean, they're supposed to jump income hell or high water.
- 20:38Speaker 2: That's why they call them lifeguards as opposed to desk
- 20:42Speaker 2: guards and watching people die talk show hosts that can't talk.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I mean that's correct, So that's correct. And yes, that's
- 20:48Speaker 2: absolutely correct. And I think he received an honor from
- 20:52Speaker 2: the president, some kind of a medal for heroism. That
- 20:56Speaker 2: was a lifeguard. The kid received the I almost metal
- 21:00Speaker 2: from the President, which is one of the most sought
- 21:04Speaker 2: after metals that you can get.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Well, I think it's a pretty magical moment. Very good,
- 21:11Speaker 3: juke ban you running.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Out of water. Lakes Powell and Mead, which are the
- 21:19Speaker 4: country's two largest reservoirs, are drying up, which could create
- 21:26Speaker 4: a huge crisis for water and electricity. Water levels in
- 21:30Speaker 4: Lake Powell, along the Utah Arizona border fell to a
- 21:33Speaker 4: record low Saturday. Lake Mead dropped to its lowest recorded
- 21:37Speaker 4: point a week earlier. This could threaten farms across Arizona, Nevada,
- 21:42Speaker 4: southern California, where they haven't seen so little water since
- 21:46Speaker 4: nineteen fifty seven, before Lake Powell was filled.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yeah, those reservoirs are getting close to becoming deadpools, which
- 21:55Speaker 2: is pretty scary. Stuff, and which the level of water
- 21:58Speaker 2: so low that the pump are not able to get
- 22:01Speaker 2: the water out of the lake and move down towards
- 22:03Speaker 2: the turbines. And that means electricity stops that moment as
- 22:07Speaker 2: soon as it hits deadpool, which is it's pretty scary
- 22:11Speaker 2: stuff because we get an enormous amount of electricity from
- 22:14Speaker 2: Hoover Dam, the damn at Lake Mead.
- 22:20Speaker 3: All right, WEIMO.
- 22:22Speaker 5: I mean, it's pretty easy to think you got another
- 22:25Speaker 5: system or a competitor out there. It's going to eat
- 22:27Speaker 5: into others. And they're saying that Weimo is eating into
- 22:32Speaker 5: the ride hailing market in some cities.
- 22:36Speaker 3: But there's not the fallout.
- 22:38Speaker 5: It's not like a immediate Okay, there's a bunch of
- 22:41Speaker 5: gig economy people out of work right now. One professor
- 22:45Speaker 5: that looks over this and studied says that because driver's
- 22:50Speaker 5: supply is kind of flexible, the beginning effects that we're
- 22:53Speaker 5: going to see are going to show up in different things.
- 22:56Speaker 5: They call them utilization, So longer waits between fewer trips
- 23:01Speaker 5: per hour, possibly more unpaid repositioning they call it. But
- 23:09Speaker 5: you're not going to see it just like right out,
- 23:11Speaker 5: whether it's going to start like a flood of people
- 23:13Speaker 5: being laid off. But this happens anytime you bring another
- 23:17Speaker 5: system into or another option into a system.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yesterday and we talked about I never have seen
- 23:24Speaker 2: a Weaimo until a few days ago when I saw
- 23:27Speaker 2: two of them driving around and you you said that
- 23:30Speaker 2: you have taken Waimo's before many times.
- 23:32Speaker 5: I've taken them in San Francisco a bunch of times.
- 23:34Speaker 5: I take them all the time, not.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Taking Waimo, and I'm really looking forward to because I
- 23:38Speaker 2: believe in it. I'm not frightened at all. I'm more
- 23:40Speaker 2: frightened about taxi drivers or you know what uber bill
- 23:43Speaker 2: or uber or lyft drivers. I'm more fear of, fear
- 23:46Speaker 2: full of those.
- 23:47Speaker 5: It's fascinating when you do take one. You can set
- 23:50Speaker 5: the screen. You can set the screen to show you
- 23:53Speaker 5: what the car sees. And at night, it sees people
- 23:57Speaker 5: that I can't see, and it shows up on the
- 24:00Speaker 5: screen as a little yellow They show up as yellow,
- 24:03Speaker 5: you know, human shapes.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Is it kind of like the Tesla screens where it
- 24:06Speaker 4: shows you what's going on all around the car?
- 24:08Speaker 5: Yes, exactly. And it's and it's bizarre because I'm driving
- 24:13Speaker 5: on a dark street with very few lights, and it
- 24:16Speaker 5: sees all the people that I can't see on the
- 24:18Speaker 5: sidewalk crossing the street and everything. So that blew me
- 24:22Speaker 5: away right there, and it automatically told me that it
- 24:24Speaker 5: was safer.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Fair enough.
- 24:26Speaker 4: She's not exactly in the inner circle anymore, but former
- 24:30Speaker 4: Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green says the Trump administration is
- 24:35Speaker 4: considering possible nuclear actions against Eran.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Where does she get this, I don't know. Yeah, she's
- 24:46Speaker 2: not even she's not in congress. Trump doesn't talk to her.
- 24:51Speaker 2: She's on the outs, and all of a sudden she
- 24:52Speaker 2: has this information. I find that a little strange.
- 24:54Speaker 4: She says she was discussing or that the Trump administration
- 24:57Speaker 4: was discussing using nuclear weapons on Iron during recent strategy meetings.
- 25:02Speaker 4: She said, yes, you read that correctly. It's real. I'm
- 25:05Speaker 4: not speculating, I know, And she said it's pure evil.
- 25:10Speaker 4: The White House responded, calling her Marjorie quitter Green and
- 25:15Speaker 4: said she was completely out of the loop on this one.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I would guess that she's out of the loop.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I would tend to say, even if it was true,
- 25:23Speaker 2: I mean, her making that claim, I don't give that
- 25:27Speaker 2: a lot of credence.
- 25:29Speaker 5: I think it was a missed opportunity to call her
- 25:31Speaker 5: Marjorie Trader Green.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Yes, which she uh yeah, which I think has happened.
- 25:36Speaker 5: To blows off the tongue, does Paramount. You're gonna have
- 25:39Speaker 5: to explain this a little bit.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Bill.
- 25:41Speaker 5: This gets tiny bit wonky. But Paramount wants the States
- 25:46Speaker 5: that are suing over the Warner Brothers Discovery deal to
- 25:49Speaker 5: post a one point nine billion bond, which apparently can
- 25:53Speaker 5: be common in these types of case.
- 25:57Speaker 3: So the States are claim to this and it reeks
- 26:02Speaker 3: of desperation.
- 26:04Speaker 2: And here's what that's about, is that the States are
- 26:07Speaker 2: asking that the deal be basically scoffed or just not scoffed.
- 26:14Speaker 2: That's what I'm looking for exactly. Basically, be the deal
- 26:20Speaker 2: be not allowed, right, deal'll be put on ice permanently.
- 26:25Speaker 2: So with that, there is also a ticking amount of
- 26:31Speaker 2: money that Paramount is going to is going to have
- 26:34Speaker 2: to pay Warner Brothers seven million dollars a day or
- 26:37Speaker 2: something starting September thirtieth. And what Paramount is saying is
- 26:43Speaker 2: we're going to be paying this amount of money and
- 26:45Speaker 2: when it goes through, we want that money from the
- 26:48Speaker 2: States because you're the ones that tried to stop us illegally,
- 26:52Speaker 2: assuming that they win in the courts, because it's now
- 26:54Speaker 2: in the courts and they're going to go for the
- 26:56Speaker 2: States saying, hey, you know you screwed us. We paid
- 26:59Speaker 2: all this money for no reason whatsoever because of what
- 27:02Speaker 2: you did. You guys pay and this is a bond
- 27:05Speaker 2: that guarantees that that that's going to be paid.
- 27:07Speaker 5: So the judge at this point will make the decision
- 27:11Speaker 5: whether that's legitimate, that's a legitimate request or not.
- 27:15Speaker 2: That is part that's another part of the case. Yeah,
- 27:18Speaker 2: and the judge, And yeah, the Warner Brothers Discovery is
- 27:24Speaker 2: just saying come out or the States are saying, give
- 27:26Speaker 2: me a break.
- 27:27Speaker 3: But it would have to show that they didn't have
- 27:29Speaker 3: reasonable cause.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it does, Yeah, it does. That's and that's
- 27:32Speaker 2: the argument. That's the argument.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Uh, is Jimmy going down?
- 27:39Speaker 2: Maybe?
- 27:39Speaker 4: The House Ethics Committee says it's investigating Democratic Representative Jimmy
- 27:45Speaker 4: Gomez from Los Angeles for ledged sexual misconduct. They say
- 27:50Speaker 4: he engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with a house staffer.
- 27:55Speaker 4: He was apparently spotted in twenty twenty three kissing a
- 27:59Speaker 4: much younger staffer from another officer. That's according to CNN.
- 28:03Speaker 4: The House Ethics Committee later discovered other allegations. He has
- 28:08Speaker 4: acknowledged that he made personal mistakes outside his marriage, but
- 28:13Speaker 4: said that everything was consensual in nature.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Now here's my question about this. Okay, he's been
- 28:20Speaker 2: accused of whatever, and he is saying, let's say that
- 28:24Speaker 2: that would just for the benefit of a given the
- 28:26Speaker 2: benefit of the doubt for a moment, that he has
- 28:28Speaker 2: made personal mistakes outside of his marriage. Let's start with
- 28:32Speaker 2: the fact that this was a staffer in another office,
- 28:35Speaker 2: so he had no ability. She was not a subordinate
- 28:39Speaker 2: to him, He had no ability to affect her being
- 28:41Speaker 2: fired or given promotion or whatever. And it was a
- 28:44Speaker 2: consensual adult Whose business is it of anybody? You've got
- 28:49Speaker 2: a married guy who is stooping someone who is not
- 28:52Speaker 2: in any case going to be harmed one way or
- 28:55Speaker 2: the other by having an affair with him. How about
- 28:58Speaker 2: it's done of your damn business. That's all, thank you.
- 29:01Speaker 2: And I think he was an idiot for saying personal
- 29:03Speaker 2: mistakes outside of my marriage. I would have said, it's
- 29:05Speaker 2: none of your business. It's none And how many, by
- 29:09Speaker 2: the way, how many of those congress people have had
- 29:11Speaker 2: an affair or two. What do you think? So there
- 29:14Speaker 2: you go.
- 29:15Speaker 3: I'm still doing the math.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah exactly. Yeah, and it's going to take you a while.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Let me tell you to do the counting. So anyway,
- 29:22Speaker 2: that's you know, I'm having a hard time with getting
- 29:26Speaker 2: into people's sexual lives. I really don't. I've never appreciated
- 29:30Speaker 2: if you've been listening to this show since I started broadcasting.
- 29:35Speaker 2: You know, if you want to have sex with a kangaroo,
- 29:37Speaker 2: as long as it's an adult, consenting kangaroo, it's nobody's business.
- 29:42Speaker 2: ConA yeah, kono adult and consenting. Yeah, it has to
- 29:46Speaker 2: be adult and consenting. Yeah, So you can't sexually molest kangaroos,
- 29:51Speaker 2: and you certainly can't do it underage. Okay, we're done, guys,
- 29:55Speaker 2: coming up the irandial right, that cease fire, that truce
- 30:00Speaker 2: which ended? What cease fire? What truth? Exactly? I'm going
- 30:04Speaker 2: to cover that when we come back. This is KFI
- 30:07Speaker 2: Am six point. You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Catch my show Monday through Friday, six am to nine am,
- 30:14Speaker 2: and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
