- 0:04Speaker 1: A podcast called twenty five Wists Stuck and They whist So, yeah,
- 0:10Speaker 1: it's too bad, but what did you expect?
- 0:13Speaker 2: It's a podcast call twenty five Whistles.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Twenty Line.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Was a Draft Kings sports book and official sports betting
- 0:22Speaker 2: partner of the NFL. Download the Draft Kings app used
- 0:24Speaker 2: to code Bobby's sports and get in on the action.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I lost so much money. Oh god, now week one
- 0:33Speaker 3: was not good to me.
- 0:35Speaker 2: To be fair, I did what I shouldn't do. What's
- 0:39Speaker 2: that I doubled on week one?
- 0:41Speaker 3: I double?
- 0:42Speaker 2: No, I doubled up to catch up last night and
- 0:43Speaker 2: I won and I want and I want? I won
- 0:46Speaker 2: because I took Duke plus twelve and a half.
- 0:49Speaker 3: How did you think that was going to happen?
- 0:51Speaker 2: Because I didn't think it was going to happen. Oh
- 0:55Speaker 2: so it's stands to it. Yeah, you reverse, man, I should
- 0:59Speaker 2: start doing No, no, no, I don't like that because
- 1:01Speaker 2: you're just I was totally on till and I was like,
- 1:03Speaker 2: I don't know which way is up or down, you know,
- 1:05Speaker 2: so I just you know, a gymnast will flip around
- 1:08Speaker 2: and they lose where they are, like Gabby, Gabby ugly.
- 1:12Speaker 3: No, No, you're thinking Simone Biles.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Simone Biles, Yes, Gabby Barrett's a singer close, so she
- 1:22Speaker 2: like couldn't determine if she was upside down, and so
- 1:24Speaker 2: she had to like stop. I felt that way. Betting,
- 1:27Speaker 2: I was like, which side's north? Where do I bet?
- 1:28Speaker 2: What's the line? So I was like, there's no way
- 1:31Speaker 2: Duke covers. Okay, how good the quarterback is? And I said, okay,
- 1:34Speaker 2: I'm betting Duke plus twelve and a half. I was
- 1:37Speaker 2: with I played nine holes of golf with Jake Owen
- 1:39Speaker 2: yesterday evening and he was like, I own a bit
- 1:44Speaker 2: Duke money line, and I remember thinking, you idiot. And
- 1:47Speaker 2: then I was like, okay, I'm hopping on because I
- 1:49Speaker 2: just said you're an idiot, and I've missed every single thing, so.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I'm the idiot. Yeah, maybe he's right. So I didn't
- 1:54Speaker 3: bet the money line. No, he did. That's good money, dude.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Well I know, jeez.
- 1:58Speaker 4: I thought that twelve and a half wasn't enough too.
- 2:01Speaker 3: For Clemson.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I was like, that's what I thought it'd be
- 2:04Speaker 4: like seventeen.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I agree. Well, Dabo Sweeney, is this what's going on
- 2:07Speaker 3: over there? What a joke? Yeah?
- 2:10Speaker 2: That was bad I mean there's still jinks from not
- 2:11Speaker 2: coming on our show last year. I said, I'm convince stuff.
- 2:14Speaker 2: That's all I thought of.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Like when I was watching it all go down, I'm like,
- 2:17Speaker 1: oh man, I mean, this is it, Kirsty last year happened?
- 2:21Speaker 2: Coming up at a bit, we have Carolina Panthers quarterback
- 2:22Speaker 2: Bryce Young and head coach Frank Reig from when we
- 2:25Speaker 2: went over and hung out.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Just two great interviews.
- 2:27Speaker 2: If you saw like clips of them inside of too
- 2:29Speaker 2: much access, just wait. The whole interviews are so good.
- 2:31Speaker 2: We talked to Bryce about a few different things, including
- 2:33Speaker 2: the differences from that lead from high school college and
- 2:36Speaker 2: then the lad from college to the pros.
- 2:38Speaker 3: And then coach Raike was actually awesome.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I didn't know if he would I had he said,
- 2:43Speaker 2: NFL head coach, and those guys are always like.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I'm an NFL coach. He was fun and a good
- 2:47Speaker 3: sense of humor. Yeah, you never know what you're gonna get.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I agree, So that was cool. I'm gonna say big
- 2:53Speaker 2: shout out to my dude. It was not a photo
- 2:56Speaker 2: shop either. Deon Sanders, what a win. Yeah, I don't
- 2:59Speaker 2: think is as great as people probably thought they might
- 3:03Speaker 2: have been. But they're still a solid Division one Big
- 3:08Speaker 2: twelve team. Yeah, and Colorado went in and as a what.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Is twenty? That's crazy?
- 3:17Speaker 2: And I'm very biased. I love Dean Sanders. I spent
- 3:20Speaker 2: a lot of time with him. We spent like four
- 3:21Speaker 2: months together. I love that dude. I've said it even
- 3:24Speaker 2: before he was coaching Colorado. What do you mean to
- 3:28Speaker 2: do you mean to kill somebody for you? Hide a body,
- 3:30Speaker 2: run through a wall? I wrote about him in my
- 3:33Speaker 2: book Bear Bones. I posted a picture of him reading
- 3:35Speaker 2: my book. I was like, I guess he read this
- 3:37Speaker 2: before they went out and played the game, kidding And
- 3:38Speaker 2: people are like, you have to photoshop that. I didn't
- 3:40Speaker 2: photoshop it. We did a show. It was awesome.
- 3:43Speaker 3: I I was so happy for him, so happy for him.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Question for you, is it a little too much to
- 3:48Speaker 1: come out and say now do you believe no?
- 3:50Speaker 3: Because now do you believe no? Because it is one game.
- 3:52Speaker 2: It would be inconsistent if he didn't, because he's all
- 3:55Speaker 2: about living life right now regardless, like we're gonna win,
- 3:58Speaker 2: we win, We're gonna have fun. It ain't gonna be
- 4:00Speaker 2: that fun. They won, they'd be a number seventeen team
- 4:04Speaker 2: in the country. They were a twenty point underdog. He's
- 4:06Speaker 2: not saying we're gonna win every game this season. They're
- 4:09Speaker 2: gonna play Nebraska next. That'll be interesting. They could beat Nebraska.
- 4:12Speaker 2: But he has to be that way because that's what
- 4:16Speaker 2: he is. He's right now, He's right now, and so yeah,
- 4:19Speaker 2: do you believe that's what he needs to do. He
- 4:20Speaker 2: needs right now like prime time, and he needs he
- 4:22Speaker 2: doesn't need because he's so good at it. He's staying
- 4:25Speaker 2: in the news. He's let's go I told you, I
- 4:29Speaker 2: told you, I told you, And he gets a week
- 4:31Speaker 2: of NonStop I told you. If they lose the next game,
- 4:33Speaker 2: who cares that, it's not much of a story anyway.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It's like, oh, they thought they might win three games
- 4:39Speaker 2: this year. I was listening to people say, if they
- 4:40Speaker 2: win three or four games this whole year, that's like
- 4:42Speaker 2: one of the greatest coaching turnarounds in the history of coaching.
- 4:45Speaker 2: They won one game last year and they just dropped
- 4:47Speaker 2: that whole roster, brought in basically eighty new kids.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a great game too.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I was in a foreign country catching like snippets of it.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Do you know what I do now is I go
- 4:57Speaker 2: to TikTok and I just type in the game and
- 4:58Speaker 2: somebody's usually streaming it from their phone, like looking at
- 5:00Speaker 2: a screen.
- 5:01Speaker 3: That's what I do for UFC. I mean, no, I don't.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Illegal, I don't.
- 5:04Speaker 2: That's what I did in the games on in Paris,
- 5:08Speaker 2: so big Big Deon Sanders lover.
- 5:11Speaker 3: That guy's awesome.
- 5:12Speaker 1: One shocking thing that you told me about him, that
- 5:14Speaker 1: he doesn't like Neon Neon's He didn't.
- 5:16Speaker 3: That's not his think name he likes. He doesn't. He didn't.
- 5:18Speaker 3: He didn't come up with it and use it. Nope,
- 5:19Speaker 3: that's pretty crazy, but he does, like coach Fryme prime Time,
- 5:22Speaker 3: prime Time. Yeah, all right, let's go over and do
- 5:27Speaker 3: the tittle Tattle is.
- 5:30Speaker 5: His name? Ever?
- 5:32Speaker 2: The Tittle Tattle's.
- 5:36Speaker 6: Week one is officially done and in the books for
- 5:38Speaker 6: college football outside of that Colorado game.
- 5:40Speaker 4: We just talked about what was your biggest takeaway.
- 5:44Speaker 2: That I lost a lot, but mostly betting on LSU I.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I I thought I had it all figured out. It
- 5:52Speaker 3: was like L s U.
- 5:53Speaker 2: First of all, they were like a six and a
- 5:54Speaker 2: half point favorite. I'm guessing I think it was like
- 5:58Speaker 2: six and a half points when the I started.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Maybe it was three and a half something like that.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Regardless, Florida State scores early and I'm like, I'm about
- 6:06Speaker 2: to be smarter than the room times too, so that
- 6:08Speaker 2: just load up on Then LSU plus three points, I'm like,
- 6:12Speaker 2: I'm about to be so rich, and then they just
- 6:15Speaker 2: got dominated. Yeah, so my takeaway is that I suck
- 6:23Speaker 2: at betting, and I sucked this week. I think if
- 6:26Speaker 2: I this is what I'm gonna do starting right now,
- 6:28Speaker 2: and you have my word, and I'm gonna let this
- 6:30Speaker 2: be a If you ever want to audit my DraftKings account,
- 6:36Speaker 2: you can, but I'm just gonna let you guys know
- 6:37Speaker 2: how much money I've won and lost period on college football.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Only NFL. I suck balls.
- 6:42Speaker 5: I am not.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I never went an NFL or I went all at NFL,
- 6:45Speaker 2: and it doesn't matter because NFL is a crapshoot college football.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I will tell you I think I'm up nine dollars
- 6:51Speaker 2: from last week, but that's only because I bet every
- 6:53Speaker 2: I bet seven hundred and fifty dollars last night on Oh.
- 6:56Speaker 3: My gosh, thank you for being transparent. Yeah, I have to.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'll be honest with you guys.
- 7:03Speaker 2: I bet seven hundred and fifty dollars last night on
- 7:05Speaker 2: Duke plus twelve and a half, and I can show
- 7:08Speaker 2: you just so you don't does it.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Do you want to audit me?
- 7:10Speaker 2: No?
- 7:10Speaker 3: I believe you.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I believe you.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Okay, let me just for my own sake so people
- 7:15Speaker 2: don't think I'm full of crap. But what I want
- 7:17Speaker 2: to do is, I'm just gonna tell you guys how
- 7:19Speaker 2: much I've won and lost. So if you want to
- 7:21Speaker 2: ride with me or die with me, whatever you want
- 7:22Speaker 2: to do, I will be honest with you because I
- 7:25Speaker 2: don't want you my face log it's not working. I
- 7:30Speaker 2: don't want you guys being upset. We missed the parlay
- 7:32Speaker 2: again cause stupid l shu.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I'm two of the four. Yeah, yeah, that sucked. I
- 7:38Speaker 3: hated that after them. That was rough. That's rough.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I mean it spits round. I had no time to
- 7:41Speaker 2: throw the ball, Yeah, had no time. The offensive line struggled.
- 7:46Speaker 2: The thing about Colorado they didn't have all the best
- 7:48Speaker 2: players playing either, So Arkansas too, baby good.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Yeah man, you all look good.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I mean we can play anybody, play any one Bill
- 7:58Speaker 1: yeah yeah, and our boy Joiner scored the first touchdown.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Was really cool to see carry On Joiner.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and South Carolina.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Yeah, after doing all of these things the way, too
- 8:08Speaker 1: much Access. I look at the screen, I'm like that,
- 8:10Speaker 1: that's my boy.
- 8:11Speaker 5: I know. I called it.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Pass from that gut, John Rice Plumbley, let's go back,
- 8:14Speaker 1: Yeah dude, he did.
- 8:16Speaker 5: So.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we have a series called too Much Access. Go
- 8:18Speaker 2: look at on you go to my instagram, Eddie's instagram,
- 8:21Speaker 2: but it's the official ones too much Access Bobby Bones.
- 8:25Speaker 3: But the YouTube page is what read just what is it? Yeah?
- 8:31Speaker 3: Too much Accessobby Ones?
- 8:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Also too much Access Bobby Bones. We were just gonna
- 8:34Speaker 3: do too much access.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And we could have got that in like ninety percent
- 8:36Speaker 2: of the places, but we didn't want to have one
- 8:38Speaker 2: of them that was off and have to be like
- 8:40Speaker 2: all on these pages were too much access, right, So
- 8:42Speaker 2: then we just went too much Access Bobby Bones. As
- 8:45Speaker 2: of right now, we're looking pretty good to go do
- 8:47Speaker 2: arkansall this week.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 8:50Speaker 2: We have a really fine episode that's not Arkansas coming
- 8:53Speaker 2: out next week. Yesterday we put out the UCF episode,
- 8:58Speaker 2: so anyway, it's super cool.
- 8:59Speaker 3: All right, Next up, some.
- 9:00Speaker 6: More Colorado talk here. There's a lot of talk about
- 9:02Speaker 6: Sanders and Hunters being favorites for the Heisman going from
- 9:06Speaker 6: one hundred to one to twenty eight to one eighty
- 9:08Speaker 6: one to twenty two to one. Would you put any
- 9:10Speaker 6: money on them to win the Heisman?
- 9:13Speaker 2: The Hunters of the kids, that's the wide receiver on
- 9:16Speaker 2: the defensive back. Yeah, that is so novel. First of all,
- 9:22Speaker 2: to win the Heisman, you're gonna need to win eight games.
- 9:25Speaker 3: At least. You're gonna need to be super dominant, win
- 9:27Speaker 3: at least eight games. That's the worst you could do.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Mostly the Heisman's a quarterback from a team that is
- 9:32Speaker 2: playing in the playoff or the national championship. So I
- 9:38Speaker 2: think if you could get it at fifty to one, sure,
- 9:42Speaker 2: that's fun to put ten bucks on.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Do I think they're gonna win? Nah?
- 9:45Speaker 2: I don't think so, because I don't think they're gonna
- 9:47Speaker 2: be good enough to win.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Nine games. If they win six or seven games, it's
- 9:55Speaker 3: gonna be you go from one win. It's huge. I
- 9:58Speaker 3: could not be a bigger advocate of Deon Sanders.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I love them, and hopefully he calls me up and
- 10:05Speaker 2: he goes, you believe me now, and then we'll go on.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Defeed it, Do you believe me? Now I would love it.
- 10:09Speaker 2: I'd love it. But the I mean Shardoor Sanders through
- 10:15Speaker 2: for five hundred yards. He had four receivers at over
- 10:18Speaker 2: one hundred yards is crazy. TCU just did. They weren't
- 10:21Speaker 2: ready and they lost all but I think three starters.
- 10:25Speaker 2: But still, yeah, I know, I don't think they're going
- 10:28Speaker 2: to win the Heisman. I think it's Caleb Williams is
- 10:29Speaker 2: to lose. It's him and if I were taking him
- 10:33Speaker 2: versus the field, I'd probably still maybe take him right now. Yeah,
- 10:37Speaker 2: Pack twelve don't lose a single game, I know it.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And their last name, their last year existed. They finally
- 10:43Speaker 2: check us out. Now, yeah, I mean they got teams.
- 10:45Speaker 2: They got the Stanford going to play in the ACZ.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah crazy Stanford, uh, and SMU is going to but
- 10:52Speaker 2: that one's not as crazy because it's Texas. It's still
- 10:54Speaker 2: crazy to be in the ACCA because it's the Atlantic
- 10:57Speaker 2: Coastal Conference. But I mean these California team, that's hilarious.
- 11:01Speaker 6: Yeah, it's gonna be like just the Coastal Conference now
- 11:03Speaker 6: because you got all these teams all right, next time
- 11:05Speaker 6: that's the next leads to the next one. Actually, do
- 11:06Speaker 6: you think the conference will seize to exist in a
- 11:09Speaker 6: few years.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I think that, yes, it will not exist, and then
- 11:13Speaker 2: it will exist again in another form. Meaning remember when
- 11:16Speaker 2: the Cleveland Browns had a team and they moved to
- 11:18Speaker 2: Baltimore and then all of a sudden, another Cleveland Browns
- 11:21Speaker 2: popped up.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Was that a long time ago?
- 11:24Speaker 4: I don't remember that late nineties.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Oh wow, I don't remember that.
- 11:28Speaker 2: The Browns moved to Baltimore in the middle of the night,
- 11:31Speaker 2: packed up, moved to Baltimore, got the trucks and everything.
- 11:35Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I should watched the documentary thirty for thirty. I remember
- 11:37Speaker 2: it happening, but it's great. They like overnight, like had
- 11:39Speaker 2: to like get the heck out of Dige.
- 11:41Speaker 3: What on earth?
- 11:42Speaker 4: People were stealing chairs out of the stadium.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Wow, wild dude.
- 11:45Speaker 2: So the Cleveland Browns moved to be the Baltimore Ravens,
- 11:47Speaker 2: and then a new Cleveland Browns popped up, which is
- 11:51Speaker 2: now the Cleveland Browns. I think that'll happen with the
- 11:54Speaker 2: PAC twelve, or the PAC twelve will be a division
- 11:59Speaker 2: of like a big ten or one of these massive
- 12:02Speaker 2: conferences you'll have. The Pacific Conference may not be twelve teams,
- 12:06Speaker 2: but it's it's over. They couldn't get a TV contract. Wild,
- 12:09Speaker 2: they couldnt get a TV I mean that first USC
- 12:12Speaker 2: game you had to watch it on see it. I
- 12:14Speaker 2: didn't watch it like Nicks. You had to do your TikTok. Yeah, yeah, all.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Right, what else?
- 12:21Speaker 4: Last one here?
- 12:22Speaker 6: Marvin Harrison Junior, got a lot of hype coming into
- 12:24Speaker 6: the season, had a bad game in the first game
- 12:25Speaker 6: with it all right, who's the best college wide receiver
- 12:28Speaker 6: you've ever seen?
- 12:31Speaker 2: Great question? Probably Calvin Johnson. Calvin Johnson at Georgia Tech.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Yeah, and a running offense.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he's Georgie Tech. Right, Yeah, it's awesome. And then
- 12:43Speaker 2: I think I just I have a little bit of
- 12:46Speaker 2: after the fact bias too, because i'd watched I watched
- 12:49Speaker 2: on TikTok a watch of him playing wide receiver in
- 12:52Speaker 2: college and and how he just got so big and
- 12:54Speaker 2: so strong.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Probably Calvin Johnson.
- 12:57Speaker 6: You probably Larry Fitzgerald. He pops in my mind right away.
- 13:01Speaker 6: At Pittsburgh, I don't remember.
- 13:02Speaker 3: I don't remember him.
- 13:03Speaker 6: They weren't very good, but he I think pretty sure
- 13:06Speaker 6: he was a Heisman finalist too, and their team was awful.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't remember he was that good. If he's
- 13:10Speaker 2: that good. And they didn't win eight games because I
- 13:12Speaker 2: just made the whole declaration there. That's pretty awesome. Yeah,
- 13:15Speaker 2: I don't remember Eddie.
- 13:16Speaker 1: U Oh, I don't know, dude Waddle in college receivers
- 13:21Speaker 1: don't ever like stick out to me.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Go to two years the Heisman last year, two years ago,
- 13:28Speaker 2: Alabama Alabama?
- 13:30Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah yeah, the Slim Reaper.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Yeah, well there you go.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Nic Yeah, okay, so he, I mean he was awesome,
- 13:37Speaker 2: but again like dominant, I mean, Julio Jones was really Yeah.
- 13:42Speaker 3: In Alabama, that's right, that's right.
- 13:43Speaker 2: And they were really a running team too, and Julio
- 13:45Speaker 2: was They weren't wide open quarterback centric like they are
- 13:50Speaker 2: ish now.
- 13:51Speaker 3: But okay, is that it? Yep? All right, that's tip tittle,
- 13:54Speaker 3: thank you. Yeah, just a reminder.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Twenty five whistles presented by Draft Kings sports book and
- 14:06Speaker 2: official sports betting partner of the NFL. Download The DraftKings
- 14:09Speaker 2: app used the code Bobby Sports get in on the action.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Do I do the parlay now or just tease that
- 14:14Speaker 2: we have it coming up?
- 14:14Speaker 4: Just tease it.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I owe it to our listeners to get something right,
- 14:17Speaker 2: and me I owe you crap.
- 14:20Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 14:21Speaker 2: But I'm just looking at some of these games and
- 14:24Speaker 2: I'll figure it out that the game that I think
- 14:26Speaker 2: people are giving a little too much credit to is
- 14:28Speaker 2: this two lane versus ole Miss game. Ole Miss is
- 14:31Speaker 2: a touchdown favorite. Ole Miss is gonna stomp a hole
- 14:35Speaker 2: in two lane. Twolan's pretty good this year for a too.
- 14:37Speaker 2: You know, two lane used to be the SEC they left.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Oh wow, I don't know that they pieced out probably
- 14:43Speaker 2: smart back then, probably, but the money just wasn't the same.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 14:48Speaker 2: That's when Arkansas and Van Vander Arkansas and who came
- 14:53Speaker 2: in with Arkansas maybe Vander, I don't know. That's when
- 14:57Speaker 2: we came in, though they were they were there, Arkansas,
- 15:01Speaker 2: Mike we Sue came in the SEC with Arkansas all
- 15:03Speaker 2: that year.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Missis state. Yeah, I'm just naming yeah, And I don't
- 15:07Speaker 3: want to miss.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Nah Alabama's seven point favorite in Alabama versus Texas, which
- 15:15Speaker 2: is an interesting game to look at.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Do you see the Miami Miami game this past week, by.
- 15:19Speaker 1: The way, Yes I did, And that's what are you
- 15:20Speaker 1: gonna bring up A and M in Miami? You're gonna
- 15:22Speaker 1: pick it them?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Not yet, but I would just remember Miami of a
- 15:25Speaker 2: high other quarterback going, We're the real Miami.
- 15:28Speaker 3: They got rolled right, right right, But instead it was
- 15:32Speaker 3: South Carolina. That's what it was, South Carolina nineteen ninety.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Thank you in cocks.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yes, so yeah, take the twenty five Whustles parlay. We'll
- 15:39Speaker 2: give it to you coming up later this week. New
- 15:41Speaker 2: users use the code Bobby Sports when you download the
- 15:43Speaker 2: app twenty one and up in most eligible states, but
- 15:45Speaker 2: age varies by jurisdiction. Eligibility and deposit restrictions apply. Gambling
- 15:48Speaker 2: problem called one hundred gambler in New York called eight
- 15:50Speaker 2: seven seven eight hope and wire text ope and y
- 15:52Speaker 2: four six seven three six nine c show notes for
- 15:54Speaker 2: full to tills. This is pretty cool. Now we will
- 15:56Speaker 2: get to the guy number one draft pick, Bryce Young.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I was surprised they let us talk to him, I'll
- 16:02Speaker 3: be honest with so cool. Yeah, he was awesome too.
- 16:05Speaker 2: He went to the same Powerhouse High School in southern
- 16:07Speaker 2: California that Matt Lioner went to that Matt Barkley went to.
- 16:09Speaker 2: He originally committed USC before changing to Alabama. He became
- 16:13Speaker 2: the first Heisman winning quarterback from Alabama when he won
- 16:15Speaker 2: in twenty twenty one. Here he is starting quarterback Carolina Panthers. Yeah,
- 16:21Speaker 2: Bryce Young. Which speed is more of an adjustment high
- 16:24Speaker 2: school to Alabama or Alabama to here?
- 16:27Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 16:28Speaker 7: I think it's hard to compare. You know, it's different.
- 16:30Speaker 7: You know, it's just you know, I think it's different.
- 16:32Speaker 7: It's again, it's it's a jump, you know, all across
- 16:35Speaker 7: the board. There's a lot those are just different aspects
- 16:38Speaker 7: that you have to account for, different things, different operations.
- 16:43Speaker 5: So I it, you know, it's it's tough to bear.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Where do you get more free stuff pros here or Alabama?
- 16:49Speaker 2: Because that's all I would want to want. I just
- 16:50Speaker 2: want gear.
- 16:53Speaker 7: That's a good you know, that's a good question. It's
- 16:54Speaker 7: honestly pretty pretty split too. Like Alabama, Like Alabama was
- 16:58Speaker 7: great with the with the gear. You know, you get
- 17:01Speaker 7: your you know, all the Alabama stuff, you get all
- 17:03Speaker 7: the Nike shipments, and they'd always give it to us,
- 17:05Speaker 7: put on a locker.
- 17:06Speaker 5: We'd always have new stuff.
- 17:07Speaker 7: But same here, Like this is we showed up to train,
- 17:09Speaker 7: you know, showed up a couple of days of training camp.
- 17:11Speaker 7: Everyone's walking around these hard black hoodies. I'm like with
- 17:14Speaker 7: the panther, I know where'd you get that? Like it's
- 17:15Speaker 7: in your locker. I was like, look at that, like
- 17:18Speaker 7: is it unlimited?
- 17:19Speaker 5: Not not unlimited?
- 17:20Speaker 7: You know you gotta you know, you can't, can't just
- 17:23Speaker 7: you know, you gotta be they'll they'll work with you,
- 17:25Speaker 7: with you everybody.
- 17:26Speaker 2: I'll be hooking everybody up. They're like, what are you
- 17:27Speaker 2: the extra small an extra large?
- 17:29Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 17:29Speaker 7: No, if it's if it's like you know, if you abuse,
- 17:32Speaker 7: you can't abuse it. Like if it's like you know,
- 17:33Speaker 7: if it's people you know, hey, I got a large
- 17:35Speaker 7: shirt for workouts, Like, hey, I get an extra large.
- 17:38Speaker 7: I need to extra like I switch to a different
- 17:40Speaker 7: side shirt today. It's like, you know that's but when
- 17:43Speaker 7: you're just like every day I need a new shirt, it's.
- 17:45Speaker 5: Like, let me get a hoodie, let me get another hoodie.
- 17:47Speaker 5: You get it.
- 17:47Speaker 7: Like, honestly, I haven't asked to double up on any
- 17:50Speaker 7: of the casual stuff yet, so I don't know, to be.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Honest, we should initially we shouldn't ask you for gear that, yeah,
- 17:56Speaker 1: but we're gonna.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Ask for the whole size everything.
- 17:59Speaker 5: I probably get you from like one of these workout shirt.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I don't know that now it doesn't. It just it
- 18:05Speaker 2: doesn't even have I wanted all I want to. I
- 18:08Speaker 2: want to walk out there looking like you all geared
- 18:10Speaker 2: up completely.
- 18:11Speaker 5: I don't know if I can pull that.
- 18:12Speaker 8: Let's talk about Draft night.
- 18:13Speaker 2: What's that like, dude?
- 18:14Speaker 1: Like, like what from from even just waking up being like, dude,
- 18:18Speaker 1: today is gonna be a crazy day.
- 18:19Speaker 8: I'm about to be rich? Like that's crazy.
- 18:23Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know if the rich part necessarily went
- 18:25Speaker 7: through my head, but yeah, it's definitely a surreal day.
- 18:27Speaker 7: It's really experience something you dream about as a kid,
- 18:30Speaker 7: and it's crazy. You know, you always you know, it
- 18:33Speaker 7: seems so far for all your life. You know, you
- 18:36Speaker 7: go through youth, in high school and college and you
- 18:38Speaker 7: know maybe eventually you think maybe it'll be there, but
- 18:41Speaker 7: you'll never be focused on it, even when you declare
- 18:43Speaker 7: it seems so far away. And then on Draft night,
- 18:45Speaker 7: it's just a rush of all everything you've done all
- 18:48Speaker 7: your past.
- 18:48Speaker 5: It's like it.
- 18:49Speaker 7: Comes kind of comes in fruition from that moment, and
- 18:52Speaker 7: then you know after that you have to move on
- 18:53Speaker 7: and build from that, and it you know, it hits
- 18:55Speaker 7: a refreshing you know, you got to restart and start
- 18:57Speaker 7: from ground zero, but it's it's surreal, and you know,
- 19:00Speaker 7: luckily I was able to share that moment with my family,
- 19:02Speaker 7: and you know, my parents were there and were able
- 19:04Speaker 7: to share that because you know, it's definitely a journey,
- 19:06Speaker 7: it's definitely a process, you know, getting to that, but
- 19:09Speaker 7: it's it's hard to some of the emotions. They're just
- 19:12Speaker 7: just so overwhelming that night, just because of you know,
- 19:14Speaker 7: how much it means.
- 19:16Speaker 2: At what age did you start athletically being superior to
- 19:20Speaker 2: other people on the field that's like six, Do you
- 19:22Speaker 2: remember atholetically superior? I don't know if I would. It's
- 19:26Speaker 2: out running out yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know if
- 19:28Speaker 2: they've told you, but you're pretty good.
- 19:31Speaker 5: I wouldn't categorize myself as that at all.
- 19:33Speaker 7: But I don't think there was There was never a
- 19:36Speaker 7: time I really I've played like you know, I've I've
- 19:39Speaker 7: played in middle school, like I've played pe and been like, yeah,
- 19:44Speaker 7: I probably like but organize like real football.
- 19:48Speaker 5: I don't. I don't think i've ever really I felt confident.
- 19:50Speaker 7: I felt like, all right, I can execute, and but
- 19:53Speaker 7: I don't think I've ever really felt like this is
- 19:55Speaker 7: too easier, Like why that's never came through my head.
- 19:58Speaker 5: So yeah, hopes Yeah, it still hasn't hasn't happened.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I want to tell you why that's not true, because
- 20:04Speaker 2: I'm big Arkansas fan. I watched you tord Us like
- 20:06Speaker 2: five hundred yards awful game for me, like the worst, Like,
- 20:09Speaker 2: like I never sat through a more miserable experience of
- 20:11Speaker 2: watching you just carve us up. Probably the game you're
- 20:15Speaker 2: through more for than any other in college, if I
- 20:18Speaker 2: do remember that, Yeah, probably, Yeah, So I would imagine
- 20:21Speaker 2: a game like that, You're going, this is the easiest
- 20:24Speaker 2: thing I've ever done.
- 20:25Speaker 5: It's still it's not easy.
- 20:27Speaker 7: It's like you feel confident and you're like, all right,
- 20:29Speaker 7: but it's not like you know, you like, it's not
- 20:31Speaker 7: where you're like you get bored. You're you can feel
- 20:34Speaker 7: things and you you know, it's a fruition of the
- 20:36Speaker 7: people you know, comes to fruition people around you, what
- 20:38Speaker 7: you're seeing on film, you know, things like that. You
- 20:41Speaker 7: definitely get into a groove, but you know, it's never
- 20:43Speaker 7: to the point of like I can just you have.
- 20:46Speaker 7: There's no point where I've you know, I've ever been
- 20:48Speaker 7: like I can't go through all my pre snap stuff.
- 20:50Speaker 5: I don't want.
- 20:50Speaker 7: I don't have to go through all my chicks, I
- 20:52Speaker 7: don't have to go through my reads. I'm just gonna
- 20:54Speaker 7: like skip something. I'm gonna I've I've never been at
- 20:57Speaker 7: that point.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I thought I saw you yonder in the game. You
- 20:58Speaker 2: were so that's what it looked like like third quarter,
- 21:00Speaker 2: That's that's what I felt.
- 21:03Speaker 5: That was a bad one though.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I mean, you do look so calm out there, Like
- 21:06Speaker 1: I remember the Texas game that I mean, it was
- 21:09Speaker 1: just are they gonna come back and do this? But
- 21:12Speaker 1: you were so serious and calm. It didn't look like
- 21:15Speaker 1: you were in a high stress situation. What's what's really
- 21:18Speaker 1: happening inside?
- 21:19Speaker 2: Though?
- 21:19Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, honestly, I've just a lot of kind
- 21:22Speaker 7: of what I believe in in my philosophy is just
- 21:24Speaker 7: finding the best space for yourself performance wise and to
- 21:27Speaker 7: be successful. And you know, for me, I it's hard
- 21:30Speaker 7: for me to put in words, but I feel like
- 21:31Speaker 7: I have a mindset where I feel like, I, folks,
- 21:34Speaker 7: I function the best and I'm able to perform the best.
- 21:36Speaker 7: And you know, I try to make sure regardless of
- 21:38Speaker 7: what's going on around me, I control what I can control,
- 21:41Speaker 7: and that's you know, that's my mindset and how I'm
- 21:43Speaker 7: approaching things, and you know, first quarter, fourth quarter, wherever
- 21:46Speaker 7: that is. You know, I try my best, and you
- 21:48Speaker 7: sway and there's ups and downs and you kind of
- 21:49Speaker 7: have to reel things back back inner, amp things up
- 21:52Speaker 7: to try to find and stay in that headspace. But
- 21:55Speaker 7: you know, in those moments, it's you know, it's it's authentic,
- 21:58Speaker 7: it's you know, it's a mix of you know, letting
- 22:01Speaker 7: go of whatever happened in the past, letting go of
- 22:02Speaker 7: the circumstance around you. And I'm big on controlling what
- 22:05Speaker 7: I can control. So regardless of what's going on around me,
- 22:09Speaker 7: what's the play, what what's my read what do I
- 22:11Speaker 7: need to talk about? You know, what are we executing?
- 22:13Speaker 7: What's if you know, what happens going on? How much
- 22:17Speaker 7: time is left? What the crowd is into? Stuff out
- 22:19Speaker 7: of my control and it's going to take me away
- 22:20Speaker 7: from my job. So really, my my focus just goes there.
- 22:23Speaker 8: But deep inside, the heart's not flying.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Uh, not necessarily beyond due.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I'm telling you, just like this is it.
- 22:33Speaker 7: There's like six guys playing defense about like, yeah, it's
- 22:35Speaker 7: just again, it's just for me, and it's it's a
- 22:37Speaker 7: it's an everyday exercise. It's you know, it doesn't just
- 22:40Speaker 7: happen naturally. It's I've been working on this my whole life.
- 22:42Speaker 7: And again there's ups and downs. I don't just stay perfectly,
- 22:45Speaker 7: but I try to do everything I can to put myself.
- 22:47Speaker 7: You know, I'm not saying it never happens, but I
- 22:49Speaker 7: try to do everything I can regards situation, to to
- 22:52Speaker 7: to you know, keep my you know, keep my heart,
- 22:55Speaker 7: keep my my mind, my mindset, keep where my head's
- 22:57Speaker 7: at in a in the same spot and that I
- 23:00Speaker 7: deal spot for me regards what's going around. And again,
- 23:02Speaker 7: it's just like anything I'm trying to execute, just like
- 23:04Speaker 7: we're trying to, you know, play every playing, we're trying
- 23:06Speaker 7: to score every drive. You know, it's it's something that
- 23:08Speaker 7: you have to work towards. But you know, that's just
- 23:10Speaker 7: what I try to do.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Your sophomore year at Alabama, you threw for a ton
- 23:14Speaker 2: of touchdowns and not very many interceptions. I think it's
- 23:16Speaker 2: first sure you started. It was like some real unrealistic
- 23:18Speaker 2: stat big SEC guy, and I remember thinking, oh, this
- 23:23Speaker 2: suck is gonna be there a long time. But respectfully,
- 23:25Speaker 2: like this suck is gonna be there for a long time,
- 23:27Speaker 2: but you did I think maybe you had like seven
- 23:29Speaker 2: interceptions the whole year. Is there an interception in your
- 23:32Speaker 2: mind from your entire college career that goes down as
- 23:34Speaker 2: your worst interception or you're like, that's the one that
- 23:36Speaker 2: I just think back to it is like I knew
- 23:38Speaker 2: I shouldn't have let the ball go.
- 23:39Speaker 7: Then all interceptions hurt, for sure, you know. It's never
- 23:45Speaker 7: you know, there's.
- 23:45Speaker 2: So few though, there's gotta be one that you hate.
- 23:48Speaker 5: You know. There's there's turnovers.
- 23:50Speaker 7: You know, anytime you turn the ball over, it's it's
- 23:52Speaker 7: always bad.
- 23:56Speaker 5: You know.
- 23:56Speaker 7: Obviously obviously national championship hurts, you know, looking.
- 24:00Speaker 5: Back on it.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Which one was that one last two years ago?
- 24:02Speaker 7: Yeah, two years ago? You know obviously that that hurts.
- 24:05Speaker 7: You know that that's a big one. Actually, fun fact
- 24:08Speaker 7: we were just we were just it just happened to
- 24:11Speaker 7: come on and like for some reason as we were
- 24:14Speaker 7: walking and they're doing like sec replays and they did
- 24:16Speaker 7: the Iron Bowl from this year, and my last pass
- 24:19Speaker 7: at Brian Denny was a pick, which I was like
- 24:22Speaker 7: and right when I right when it happened, I threw it.
- 24:24Speaker 7: I knew I was like, I was like, ah, like
- 24:26Speaker 7: this might like I don't think I'm going back in.
- 24:29Speaker 5: This might be you know, I hadn't figured out what
- 24:30Speaker 5: I was going to do next, but like we'll see.
- 24:32Speaker 7: But like if it is, like the last pass just
- 24:35Speaker 7: happen to be an interception. Like but again, anytime you throw,
- 24:39Speaker 7: you know, just turn the ball over.
- 24:40Speaker 5: That's something you know.
- 24:42Speaker 7: You know, just as a quarterback, you know you never
- 24:43Speaker 7: want to do your probably yourself and not doing I mean,
- 24:44Speaker 7: it happens, but you know you want to minimize as
- 24:46Speaker 7: much as you can, so you know they all hurt though.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Final five questions to that. I found that in my career,
- 24:53Speaker 2: like I got fined a million dollars once for something
- 24:55Speaker 2: I did on the air. It wasn't terrible, but I
- 24:59Speaker 2: have lived through it. And also I have learned that
- 25:01Speaker 2: and even I've been on stage doing stand up and
- 25:03Speaker 2: it's I've bombed, and I've realized I've gotten out of
- 25:06Speaker 2: it and I've been actually okay because of it, and
- 25:08Speaker 2: I've seen it be real dark what I thought was,
- 25:11Speaker 2: but I've actually climbed out of it to a new
- 25:13Speaker 2: level of success. And I asked that question about a
- 25:15Speaker 2: setback because in those times has it shown you that? Okay,
- 25:19Speaker 2: I not only did I learn from it, but it
- 25:21Speaker 2: ain't over. Like Sun's coming up tomorrow and let's let's
- 25:23Speaker 2: just keep going.
- 25:24Speaker 7: I feel like, you know, I feel like it's inevitable
- 25:26Speaker 7: for basically anyone in any aspect or walk of life
- 25:29Speaker 7: to not have a setback.
- 25:30Speaker 5: You know, it's it's gonna happen, whatever it is.
- 25:32Speaker 7: You know, I feel like, you know, again, I'm a
- 25:34Speaker 7: big I'm big on controlling what I can control. So
- 25:36Speaker 7: once it happens, you know you're gonna feel emotions. You
- 25:38Speaker 7: know you're gonna But once that's over with, I feel
- 25:41Speaker 7: like you have a choice of are you gonna dwell
- 25:42Speaker 7: on it? Are you gonna let it you know, change
- 25:45Speaker 7: how you think. Are you gonna let it you know,
- 25:47Speaker 7: just turn to a negative or are you gonna try.
- 25:48Speaker 5: To find a positive from it?
- 25:49Speaker 7: And you know, I'm not saying that's as easy as that.
- 25:52Speaker 7: You know, it's a lot of things is not. Everything's
- 25:54Speaker 7: the same things that be harder than others. But I
- 25:56Speaker 7: try my best to once the emotion, you know, you
- 25:58Speaker 7: let the emotions run, and onceste, it's over to try
- 26:00Speaker 7: to condense that, you know, what can I learn from it?
- 26:03Speaker 5: What can I take from it?
- 26:04Speaker 7: Because again, if if you know, if things like that
- 26:07Speaker 7: can be a blessing in disguise, you can grow from
- 26:09Speaker 7: it at times. And this may not always be universal truth,
- 26:12Speaker 7: but most of the times that's what I try to
- 26:14Speaker 7: look for and to find and you get again it's
- 26:16Speaker 7: not easy. But again one hundred percent agree with with
- 26:19Speaker 7: what you're saying your sentiment. I've been there too of
- 26:21Speaker 7: trying to turn those those downs in those things that
- 26:24Speaker 7: you know you may you know, wish you didn't do,
- 26:26Speaker 7: or you know, wish you could get back. How can
- 26:27Speaker 7: you grow from How can you learn? How can it
- 26:29Speaker 7: make you stronger?
- 26:30Speaker 1: So you have hit a huge milestone. And it's talking
- 26:33Speaker 1: about money again, dude, you get you got money? Now,
- 26:35Speaker 1: what's the coolest.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Thing you bought? It's poor people talking to you like, yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 2: that's why.
- 26:40Speaker 8: What's the coolest thing you've bought so far?
- 26:42Speaker 2: Everyone asks, lambo, lambo.
- 26:44Speaker 7: No, everyone to ask you this, and everyone gets so
- 26:47Speaker 7: disappointed with the answer.
- 26:48Speaker 5: I'm sorry, so underwhelming.
- 26:50Speaker 7: I legit have not bought anything cool or like expensive,
- 26:54Speaker 7: like I bought some clothes like does that like? And
- 26:57Speaker 7: nothing crazy like nothing that I could like just name
- 26:59Speaker 7: like where you'd be like, oh my god, like stuff
- 27:02Speaker 7: that other people like on the team have to Like
- 27:05Speaker 7: I I haven't made like a major first I haven't
- 27:08Speaker 7: playing like I pay rent like I got that. Like
- 27:12Speaker 7: that's that's really the biggest thing. So if it changes,
- 27:15Speaker 7: I'll let you know.
- 27:16Speaker 2: But hit us up, Ye, hit us up.
- 27:18Speaker 8: Number one.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Do you have the credit card thing on your phone?
- 27:20Speaker 2: Because when I saw my credit card, it shows up
- 27:22Speaker 2: my phone. It's a pay like I bought something. Well yeah,
- 27:25Speaker 2: but if I use my credit card, it shows up.
- 27:27Speaker 5: So you're saying, yeah, does that do that with you?
- 27:28Speaker 2: Do you get that?
- 27:29Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 27:29Speaker 2: Make sure I don't know. Uh. So this is year one.
- 27:33Speaker 2: You're the first overall pick. We were talking to coach
- 27:35Speaker 2: about the unfair expectation of just first round picks, much
- 27:39Speaker 2: less than number one overall pick. So I don't know,
- 27:43Speaker 2: how what kind of expectation do you put on yourself?
- 27:45Speaker 2: You're one with this team.
- 27:47Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, I feel like again expectations or something
- 27:50Speaker 7: from there. And if you know, for me, throughout my
- 27:53Speaker 7: life has always been there and always come from different
- 27:55Speaker 7: angles and everyone has different ones, and you know I
- 27:57Speaker 7: respect that. And again I think that's the beauty of sports,
- 27:59Speaker 7: every one being able to chime in and talk and
- 28:01Speaker 7: have expectations and root for people and against Like I
- 28:05Speaker 7: love that.
- 28:05Speaker 5: You know. I'm a fan too, so I love that.
- 28:08Speaker 7: But for me, I only let the expectations that we
- 28:11Speaker 7: set in the room for you know, in the quarterback
- 28:13Speaker 7: room and the unit room, in the team room.
- 28:15Speaker 5: That's what I let, you know, That's what I use
- 28:18Speaker 5: my expectations.
- 28:18Speaker 7: That's what I used to guide myself when I hope
- 28:21Speaker 7: to accomplish. So you know, that's really where all my
- 28:23Speaker 7: focus is. And you know the external stuff, you know,
- 28:26Speaker 7: it's great, is what it is.
- 28:27Speaker 5: But I don't really put any thoughts to ways something
- 28:29Speaker 5: I can't control.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Don't ask any more money questions.
- 28:31Speaker 8: No, we're question don't.
- 28:33Speaker 1: But I will ask about fame, which is cool because
- 28:34Speaker 1: we're sitting here, people walking by and they're like, oh
- 28:37Speaker 1: my gosh, there is there is like people recognize you everywhere,
- 28:40Speaker 1: Like what's that?
- 28:41Speaker 8: Like you like that?
- 28:44Speaker 7: I mean it's definitely humbling, for sure. It's it's it's
- 28:47Speaker 7: very humbling. Um, it's yeah, it's different.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Use your name, good reservation, Young Bride QB Bryce Young QB.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Like dog yet I like, I really try not to do.
- 29:00Speaker 7: It has to be if I'm like, if it's like
- 29:02Speaker 7: something that's necessary, like if it's like an event or something.
- 29:06Speaker 5: But I try my best not too.
- 29:08Speaker 7: It's it's yeah, again, it's humbling, and you know, it's
- 29:11Speaker 7: really a it's a reflection of you know, it's just
- 29:14Speaker 7: again it's humbling. You know, it's something that's it's it's
- 29:16Speaker 7: an honor, it's it's a it's a blessing for sure.
- 29:18Speaker 7: But also I understand that stuff like that is circumstantial.
- 29:21Speaker 7: And you know, right now, I'm in a situation today
- 29:25Speaker 7: of you know, like you said, people being around and
- 29:27Speaker 7: recognize me, and that's because of you know what, you
- 29:29Speaker 7: know what what's around and what's happened in my past.
- 29:32Speaker 7: So I'm grateful for it, but that doesn't entitle me
- 29:34Speaker 7: to anything in the future. That's not something that's unconditional
- 29:37Speaker 7: neither you know, nor should it be. You know, no one,
- 29:39Speaker 7: you know, I don't expect everyone to just unconditionally you
- 29:42Speaker 7: know where you know, people are Panthers fans and want
- 29:44Speaker 7: what's best for the team.
- 29:45Speaker 5: And you know, again it's conditional. It's based on me.
- 29:48Speaker 7: All that is, you know what I can do on
- 29:49Speaker 7: a football field, So it doesn't entitle me to anything.
- 29:52Speaker 7: It's not something that's you know that that's just you know,
- 29:55Speaker 7: a given or guaranteed how it should be. It's something
- 29:57Speaker 7: that reflects my past and doesn't have anything to do
- 29:59Speaker 7: with my future. So you know, it's super humbling. I'm
- 30:01Speaker 7: grateful for everyone who is recognized me and came up
- 30:04Speaker 7: to me and asked me for a picture of hortographer
- 30:06Speaker 7: just said hello to me. That doesn't mean a lot
- 30:07Speaker 7: to me, and it's it's surreal to see that happen,
- 30:10Speaker 7: but at the end of the day, it's circumstantial. So again,
- 30:13Speaker 7: that happens because of what I do on a football field.
- 30:16Speaker 7: And you know, with that being said, I have to
- 30:18Speaker 7: make sure my my focus is on that is on
- 30:21Speaker 7: on football and team, on God, on my family and
- 30:23Speaker 7: the things that they got me here, and that's the
- 30:24Speaker 7: reason for everything. So I'm grateful for it, but it
- 30:27Speaker 7: doesn't you know, it doesn't doesn't change it.
- 30:28Speaker 2: It sucks though when they because sometimes I don't like
- 30:31Speaker 2: to do it either, but what'll called but like, hey,
- 30:33Speaker 2: maybe we can get Bobby Bones in and they're like,
- 30:34Speaker 2: I don't know who that is that hurts. That always
- 30:36Speaker 2: hurts a little bit.
- 30:36Speaker 5: So that happened.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Because I would take QB. I'll take QB at the
- 30:40Speaker 2: end just in case they want a sports fan. All right,
- 30:42Speaker 2: final question, Bryce, before you go and you're weighing over
- 30:47Speaker 2: two hundred pounds, did you just eat a bunch? But
- 30:48Speaker 2: you just eat a bunch?
- 30:51Speaker 5: I was, I was working out, we had it was months.
- 30:54Speaker 2: There's a pre draft process, but he didn't do you
- 30:56Speaker 2: still even with all that, you had to just eat
- 30:59Speaker 2: it because we're not like when I eat a bunch,
- 31:01Speaker 2: like right before I weigh like you can actually affect that.
- 31:03Speaker 5: Did you do that?
- 31:04Speaker 3: No?
- 31:04Speaker 5: I was like there was like it wasn't a surprise,
- 31:07Speaker 5: It wasn't a pop quiz.
- 31:08Speaker 2: You weighed over two hundred pounds, right, yeah, yeah, but
- 31:10Speaker 2: you had to, like you ate a bunch?
- 31:12Speaker 5: Yeah like that.
- 31:13Speaker 7: I ate steadily, like I increased, like my die and
- 31:16Speaker 7: my work, Like I like thirty.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Minutes before you you weighed in, you didn't like eat
- 31:20Speaker 2: a bunch.
- 31:21Speaker 5: I had like a normal breakfast.
- 31:23Speaker 2: It was like like taco I mean because you I
- 31:26Speaker 2: would have went you can go really hard and effect
- 31:28Speaker 2: you're telling me you did not go really hard. Thirty
- 31:29Speaker 2: minutes before.
- 31:30Speaker 7: I had like what was the pre draft process was
- 31:32Speaker 7: like months? I want to say, like, I don't.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Know, but thirty minutes before, what did you eat anything?
- 31:37Speaker 5: I had a breakfast? Yeah, like I had a breakfast.
- 31:39Speaker 2: It was like, what do you want him to say about? Well,
- 31:41Speaker 2: I want the truth. He had eleven pancakes, seven waffles. Hey,
- 31:46Speaker 2: we're big fans and big fans just watching how you
- 31:49Speaker 2: perhaps not just how you perform, but how just you
- 31:51Speaker 2: operate as a person, as an athlete, as a student athlete.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Like I think you are a great example to a
- 31:57Speaker 2: lot of kids. I think you're a great hero to
- 31:59Speaker 2: a lot of who look at pro players as heroes
- 32:02Speaker 2: and we're root for you this year. Thank you, I
- 32:04Speaker 2: really appreciate You'll hold the ball that by the way
- 32:06Speaker 2: I've been holding you have anything about it? It look
- 32:07Speaker 2: match coach Chard made me fumble, hit me in the
- 32:09Speaker 2: face with it. I didn't fumble it.
- 32:10Speaker 5: Oo, you're talking about you can earn some some Panthers year.
- 32:13Speaker 7: I think with that never that you can ask me for.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Anymore fumble the whole interview. Look at this right here,
- 32:18Speaker 2: and I'm gonna super Panthers gear because coaching me in
- 32:20Speaker 2: the face with the ball. All right, Bryce, good to
- 32:22Speaker 2: see you, thank you, all right, that's awesome thanks to
- 32:24Speaker 2: Bryce Young. Hey, I want to mention this real quick.
- 32:27Speaker 2: We had our fantasy draft last night. I only played
- 32:29Speaker 2: two leagues. I really liked playing one, and I tried
- 32:33Speaker 2: to get the same draft pick in both leagues, which
- 32:35Speaker 2: I picked the number nine spot.
- 32:36Speaker 3: In both leagues.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Oh okay, So what happened was in my first league,
- 32:41Speaker 2: I was drawn and given nine of twelve. So on
- 32:43Speaker 2: our close friendly we played Forever, I got to pick
- 32:47Speaker 2: my spot like third or four, so I just picked nine.
- 32:50Speaker 2: So worked out I'm not gonna have the same team obviously,
- 32:51Speaker 2: but don't have a similar ISHVI similar team, and so
- 32:55Speaker 2: ninth pick I took Saquon Barkley contract year whatever, and
- 33:00Speaker 2: I went to play.
- 33:00Speaker 3: We would and play nine holes, Jake going.
- 33:02Speaker 2: And I did, and my wife and his fiance rode
- 33:05Speaker 2: in the cart beside us, and I was like, I
- 33:09Speaker 2: gotta do this fantasy draft to dinner. So there's a dinner.
- 33:11Speaker 3: But it's cool. Jake was watching the game.
- 33:13Speaker 2: I'd bet a bunch of money trying to cover up
- 33:15Speaker 2: that I should never don't do that.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Don't do that.
- 33:17Speaker 2: I did Chasing, don't Chase Chase and so, and then
- 33:21Speaker 2: I'm doing my fantasy draft. It's at dinner. It's this
- 33:24Speaker 2: mes Con restaurant last night. So then we get in
- 33:25Speaker 2: the car, we're driving home and I'm laughing out loud.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't know whose team this is, but
- 33:30Speaker 2: this is hilarious. And then I go, it's gotta be Eddie.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Eddie's team has always been the San Francisco sixty nine ers, right,
- 33:36Speaker 2: and I was hilarious to me, But I didn't see
- 33:39Speaker 2: the sixty nine ers on the board. I saw the
- 33:41Speaker 2: Tampa Bay tampons, and so I tell Caitlin, I said,
- 33:44Speaker 2: somebody's the Tampa Bay tampons.
- 33:45Speaker 3: I said, it's gotta be Eddie.
- 33:47Speaker 2: So we're in the car and I get on the
- 33:48Speaker 2: the zoom while everybody's doing the draft, and.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I'm like, who's the Tampa Bay tampons? And Eddie goes
- 33:53Speaker 3: me and I'm like, I knew.
- 33:55Speaker 2: I'm laughing so hard, and she's like, why is that funny?
- 33:59Speaker 3: She's like, we have your children.
- 34:00Speaker 2: We have to wear half tampons because we're right, And
- 34:03Speaker 2: I'm laughing so hard. She's like, what why it's so
- 34:05Speaker 2: funny that he's named his team after a tampon.
- 34:08Speaker 3: I'm like, uh, alliteration. I'm trying to get get out
- 34:10Speaker 3: of it.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 34:11Speaker 3: I appreciate that. Hilarious.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I just every year, and I've been in six to
- 34:15Speaker 1: nine ers for like three years now, I think. But
- 34:17Speaker 1: before then, I would always try to be creative with
- 34:19Speaker 1: like take a real team, take the real city, but
- 34:23Speaker 1: then make a joke out of the mascot name whatever.
- 34:25Speaker 1: And dude, this one came to me like so funny
- 34:28Speaker 1: fifteen minutes before the draft.
- 34:29Speaker 3: We're eleven, but Tampa tampon. It's great.
- 34:32Speaker 4: I think the best part is his icon.
- 34:34Speaker 2: He actually actually with a little smiley faced logo and
- 34:38Speaker 2: crazy how far Cooper Cup's falling in all the drafts?
- 34:41Speaker 3: Yeah, and not crazy because of.
- 34:43Speaker 2: The injury and he missed last year, but you know,
- 34:44Speaker 2: he just you know, fourth or fifth going. If you
- 34:48Speaker 2: drafted two a week and a half ago and you
- 34:51Speaker 2: have fourth or fifty got Cooper Cup, you're just screwed.
- 34:53Speaker 4: Problem Mile League got drafted I think in the first
- 34:55Speaker 4: round last week.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Really yeah, okay, seven months without an NFL game.
- 35:00Speaker 3: That is crazy. Well, good thing it's over. NFL is here.

- 35:49Speaker 2: Let's do it or sit down with Panthers head coach
- 35:52Speaker 2: Frank Wright in his first season as a head coach
- 35:54Speaker 2: in Carolina. He played at Carolina as a backup quarterback
- 35:57Speaker 2: in nineteen ninety five. We talk about it. He's most
- 35:59Speaker 2: known for his thirty two point comeback when Bill's and oilers.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I remember I was watching it.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Turn it off? Oh wow, you remember that.
- 36:07Speaker 2: I turned it back on and I talked it to
- 36:10Speaker 2: him about the interview, I was like, yeah, cheated.
- 36:14Speaker 3: He also won the Super Bowls a head coach.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Wait what he No? He was offensive coordinator? I think, yes, yeah,
- 36:24Speaker 2: he was the offensive coordinator. Why Peterson was? I believe
- 36:29Speaker 2: her head coaches at Jacksonville now, but he.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Was the O C. Which is why I asked him
- 36:32Speaker 3: about the Philly special. Yeah, hey, so Kevin, are you?
- 36:35Speaker 3: Is this your screw up? Yep? Good thing. I'm in genius,
- 36:40Speaker 3: No sports. I won't call myself a sports genius. I
- 36:44Speaker 3: retain an occasional fact.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Okay, he was I think their first franchise quarterback though Carolina.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, he was the first, the first one.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Yeah here he is right right, So honest question, coach,
- 36:56Speaker 2: You're an honest guy. When I hold the ball, do
- 36:58Speaker 2: I look more like I'm delivering good sports talk? I
- 37:02Speaker 2: thought for this I hold the ball to make it
- 37:04Speaker 2: really look like I was doing much.
- 37:05Speaker 9: There was a flash, you know, it was like I
- 37:07Speaker 9: saw the flash play, but not the consistency that we're
- 37:09Speaker 9: looking for.
- 37:10Speaker 2: How's the hold of the tip over it tip?
- 37:12Speaker 9: Yeah, that's an eagle claw. You got to get the
- 37:14Speaker 9: tip of it right. But then you know, then to
- 37:16Speaker 9: the peck and then underneath.
- 37:18Speaker 2: If I fumble the whole interview, then well I guess
- 37:21Speaker 2: I can't be held on to it. Yeah, right, there
- 37:29Speaker 2: we go. Which, okay, so if somebody fumbled, obviously, not
- 37:34Speaker 2: fumbling the ball is a big deal. What if a
- 37:36Speaker 2: player fumbles the ball but recovers it, do you hold
- 37:38Speaker 2: that against them?
- 37:39Speaker 9: Absolutely?
- 37:39Speaker 2: You do, even if they recover their own ball.
- 37:41Speaker 9: Absolutely. I mean we gave them props for recovering it.
- 37:44Speaker 9: But listen the ball. Uh, you listen to Thomas Brown talk,
- 37:49Speaker 9: you listen to Douce Staley talk, you listen to any
- 37:51Speaker 9: of our offensive staff. The ball is the issue, right,
- 37:54Speaker 9: possession of the ball. So sure, recovering it is a
- 37:57Speaker 9: good thing, but if it comes loose, it's just an
- 37:59Speaker 9: indie cation that the fundamentals and the technique aren't right
- 38:02Speaker 9: and that there has to be a consistency to that.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I have a theory. And again, please be honest with me,
- 38:06Speaker 2: because I know you will that if you gave, I
- 38:09Speaker 2: could rush for one hundred yards the entire season combined.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Now I'm six foote seventy still pretty ish, athletic, ish,
- 38:16Speaker 2: you look pretty athletic. But one hundred yards for the
- 38:19Speaker 2: entire season.
- 38:19Speaker 9: Yes, you could do that behind our offensive Hold on.
- 38:22Speaker 8: Hold on, I got another another scenario.
- 38:24Speaker 2: That's the whole thing. It's not about this.
- 38:25Speaker 1: For two years, we've also talked about five snaps from
- 38:28Speaker 1: the one yard line?
- 38:29Speaker 8: Could he take it.
- 38:30Speaker 9: In behind our offensive line? Yeah?
- 38:34Speaker 2: Five? The question would be what I get hit so hard?
- 38:37Speaker 2: I want to do it again?
- 38:38Speaker 9: You definitely wouldn't want to do it again, really no.
- 38:42Speaker 2: But I would one hundred yards the entire you heard it.
- 38:44Speaker 2: We've been finding about this for two years. It is
- 38:46Speaker 2: the greatest thing I've ever heard of my whole life.
- 38:48Speaker 2: I mean, we can cut it now. We're good. We
- 38:50Speaker 2: got we got what we came came for. What are
- 38:52Speaker 2: you looking for? We went and watched practice day one
- 38:55Speaker 2: camp like, what are you looking for? Day one? That's
- 38:57Speaker 2: different than any other day?
- 38:59Speaker 9: Actually, Futon, No, we're looking for the same thing every day,
- 39:02Speaker 9: consistency and play making. Consistency and play making, you need both.
- 39:08Speaker 9: So you know, we're in day one install, so everything's
- 39:11Speaker 9: pretty elementary. What I was happy about today was guys
- 39:14Speaker 9: showed great retention from what we did during OTA's very
- 39:18Speaker 9: few mental mistakes out there today, and it was good
- 39:21Speaker 9: give and take between the offense and defense.
- 39:23Speaker 8: Coach, I have four boys. I love them all a lot.
- 39:27Speaker 2: What if you want to see love three?
- 39:28Speaker 1: Oh, well, that's my point. I do have a favorite though.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I mean, we're gonna be honest, we have favorites out
- 39:33Speaker 1: of the whole football team. Do you have your favorites?
- 39:37Speaker 9: No, I have three daughters, and I've had this argument
- 39:39Speaker 9: with my whole life, right, you know, because we occasionally
- 39:44Speaker 9: talk about this, right and right we'd like to say
- 39:47Speaker 9: there is a unique love for each one of them, right,
- 39:50Speaker 9: and everybody has a role to play and a way
- 39:53Speaker 9: to play it, and so we celebrate.
- 39:55Speaker 8: That, right.
- 39:55Speaker 1: But when one messes up, though, you kind of ignore
- 39:57Speaker 1: them for the rest of the day. And I'm talking
- 39:59Speaker 1: about your kids. Do you do that with the players too?
- 40:01Speaker 2: Well?
- 40:02Speaker 9: Right, I mean you treat you treat everybody fairly, but
- 40:05Speaker 9: not everybody the same, So you know some people you
- 40:09Speaker 9: need to jump on them. Are the people you just
- 40:11Speaker 9: kind of can let it slide and then say it's
- 40:12Speaker 9: a little something later because you know they're going to
- 40:14Speaker 9: be more hard on themselves than anybody. Where one of
- 40:17Speaker 9: them might be like, oh, you know, and they don't
- 40:18Speaker 9: even think twice about it. That's the guy you got
- 40:20Speaker 9: to Hey, we can't do that, but hey, on this team.
- 40:24Speaker 9: What you find most of the guys, most of the
- 40:26Speaker 9: pro players I've been around, are harder on themselves than
- 40:30Speaker 9: any coach is going to be on them. So that's
- 40:32Speaker 9: why the art of coaching is not the yelling and screaming.
- 40:35Speaker 9: That's just not where the money is. Where the money
- 40:38Speaker 9: is is squeezing out the extra percent or two that
- 40:41Speaker 9: they have in their body finding ways to get that out.
- 40:45Speaker 2: When you move for a head coaching job, as you
- 40:48Speaker 2: just came to Carolina. When I moved, they put me
- 40:50Speaker 2: in an apartment for a couple of months until I
- 40:52Speaker 2: found a house. What do they do when you're rich
- 40:54Speaker 2: in familis like you put you in an apartment until
- 40:57Speaker 2: you stay in an apartment or like an airbnb.
- 41:00Speaker 9: Or yeah, so stay in the hotel.
- 41:03Speaker 2: We stay in a hotel Riz Carlton four seasons.
- 41:06Speaker 3: I think, No, that's awesome.
- 41:08Speaker 9: It's a good setup.
- 41:09Speaker 5: You know.
- 41:09Speaker 9: That puts you in a hotel right right by the
- 41:11Speaker 9: office building. Because when you first get there, what do
- 41:13Speaker 9: you think my days look like? It's five am even pm, right,
- 41:18Speaker 9: So you don't want any drive time. You want to
- 41:20Speaker 9: be at a hotel that's walking distance from the stadium
- 41:23Speaker 9: where you're working. And so that that's pretty much the transition.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Unlimited room service though, do they check that? Do they
- 41:29Speaker 2: give you like a stipend.
- 41:29Speaker 9: You're you're never there. You get in the room and
- 41:32Speaker 9: it's sleep for six hours and wake up, and I'd still.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Order food and go back to the room. Was free, Yeah,
- 41:38Speaker 2: I go back. I order a sandwich and go back,
- 41:40Speaker 2: go back to the room.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Coach, when you look at the schedule and you have
- 41:44Speaker 1: a West Coast team and you're going to the West coast,
- 41:47Speaker 1: traveling across the whole country, how do you prepare for that?
- 41:50Speaker 8: Like, do you got everybody's got to go to bed.
- 41:52Speaker 5: Four hours earlier a week?
- 41:54Speaker 8: Is there any difference? How do we do this?
- 41:57Speaker 9: Yeah, that's a great question, and there is a science
- 41:59Speaker 9: behind it. You know there is a formula behind it,
- 42:02Speaker 9: and you can't make up for it all in one week.
- 42:05Speaker 9: But what you do you stagger it as you approach
- 42:08Speaker 9: the week, whether you're going east to west or if
- 42:10Speaker 9: you're West Coast team coming east. You know, there's a
- 42:13Speaker 9: formula that you stick to, and it's you know, start
- 42:16Speaker 9: your day an hour later one day and then an
- 42:18Speaker 9: hour later the next day. That kind of thing.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Coach, you go to Maryland and you're behind boomeris iasin
- 42:24Speaker 2: for a few years. If you went to Maryland now
- 42:27Speaker 2: and you were behind someone and they said, hey, there's
- 42:29Speaker 2: this guy's going to be it for two or three
- 42:30Speaker 2: years today, do you think you're.
- 42:32Speaker 9: A portaled That's a great question.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Have you ever been asked that before.
- 42:36Speaker 9: I've not been asked that. I've not been asked that before.
- 42:40Speaker 9: It because my I think, there's my playing days are
- 42:42Speaker 9: so far behind me. But you know, there's a side
- 42:47Speaker 9: of me like, hey, the competitor, I know I'm good
- 42:49Speaker 9: enough to play, let me you know. But then the
- 42:51Speaker 9: other side is, you know, the way I was raised,
- 42:54Speaker 9: I'm a little bit old school, like, hey, just grind
- 42:56Speaker 9: it out, you know, just grind out. This is where
- 42:58Speaker 9: you want to go, so tough question to answer at
- 43:02Speaker 9: this point.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Do you feel though, because I feel this way about
- 43:05Speaker 2: you and I watched you. I mean, I think everybody
- 43:07Speaker 2: now claims that were either at the game where you
- 43:09Speaker 2: led Buffalo back or they watched it. And I do
- 43:11Speaker 2: remember watching a lot of it. But I turned it
- 43:12Speaker 2: off when you guys went way down. They turned it
- 43:14Speaker 2: back up, turn it back on when you guys were
- 43:15Speaker 2: catching up. I don't I quit on you and be
- 43:17Speaker 2: honest with you, but then I came back. But do
- 43:19Speaker 2: you feel like you were Like I feel like you
- 43:21Speaker 2: were robbed. Like you go and you're behind Boomer, then
- 43:24Speaker 2: you get Jim Kelly is there? Even when you come
- 43:27Speaker 2: to Carolina, it was like they had another young It
- 43:30Speaker 2: was it de Carrie.
- 43:31Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Like I feel like in a different timeline somewhere you're
- 43:35Speaker 2: like the greatest quarterback ever.
- 43:37Speaker 9: Like, well, I appreciate that. No, the reality has had
- 43:41Speaker 9: for I had fourteen years to prove that, and what
- 43:44Speaker 9: I proved was that I was a really good backup.
- 43:48Speaker 9: I was a really good backup. I was you know,
- 43:51Speaker 9: we talk about to the players, find out what your
- 43:53Speaker 9: role is and be a star in your role. And
- 43:56Speaker 9: so you know I was. I think I was a
- 44:00Speaker 9: really good backup quarterback, one of the top thirty two qbs, right,
- 44:06Speaker 9: But going from that level to being the franchise guy
- 44:12Speaker 9: for ten years, that's a different level and a different
- 44:15Speaker 9: level of talent. So I'm very comfortable with what I
- 44:18Speaker 9: did in my career, what I accomplished, and very happy
- 44:20Speaker 9: with it.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Coach the Philly Special.
- 44:23Speaker 8: Will it ever come out again?
- 44:25Speaker 1: I mean, is it just always in your back pocket?
- 44:27Speaker 9: It's always in the back pocket. Secretly, Yeah, it's always
- 44:30Speaker 9: in the back pocket. We're always looking, always looking for ideas,
- 44:35Speaker 9: and you're always recycling ideas, and there's different versions. There's
- 44:38Speaker 9: different versions of it.
- 44:39Speaker 2: So for sure, do you ever have a Eureka moment
- 44:41Speaker 2: where you go, how did I never think of running
- 44:45Speaker 2: the offense this way? And no one's ever run the
- 44:47Speaker 2: offense this way? And this is like a picture like
- 44:49Speaker 2: these math professors on a board like a beautiful mind.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Do you ever have one of those old an offense
- 44:53Speaker 2: and you're like, how do not see this?
- 44:55Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 44:56Speaker 9: I mean, you know, I I think it's just a
- 45:00Speaker 9: matter of emphasis. I think over the years thirty some
- 45:03Speaker 9: years of being in this game, you never have all
- 45:06Speaker 9: the answers. Right, So you're always looking, and so you've
- 45:09Speaker 9: been exposed. I think I've been exposed to most different
- 45:12Speaker 9: kinds of offenses, but I haven't been in every offense.
- 45:16Speaker 9: So what you find is that's why I like getting
- 45:20Speaker 9: around different players and different coaches, diversity of thought. Like
- 45:23Speaker 9: when we bring Thomas Brown in here. I never was
- 45:25Speaker 9: in the Sean McVay quote unquote system, and I always thought, well,
- 45:30Speaker 9: it's great, they do a great job. But then I
- 45:31Speaker 9: was always critical about certain things. And now I get
- 45:34Speaker 9: Thomas here and I get a chance to talk to
- 45:35Speaker 9: him and hear what's the thinking behind certain things? Wow,
- 45:38Speaker 9: I never I didn't know that's what you were thinking.
- 45:40Speaker 9: I thought I knew what you were thinking, but I
- 45:42Speaker 9: didn't understand that part. Some parts I understood full well,
- 45:46Speaker 9: but not all the parts.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Coach, Do you ever think of the camera being on you? Like,
- 45:51Speaker 1: you know there are scenarios when the director's always going
- 45:54Speaker 1: to say, show coach, show coach, he's real stress right now?
- 45:57Speaker 1: Do you even think about that during the game, Like,
- 45:59Speaker 1: I got to be cool right now because the camera's
- 46:01Speaker 1: probably on me close up.
- 46:02Speaker 9: I can't. No, you never think about that, never, never, No,
- 46:06Speaker 9: But What does happen is you got guys in the
- 46:09Speaker 9: booth saying, hey, the camera's on you because you know
- 46:13Speaker 9: you're talking and the other team could have somebody up
- 46:15Speaker 9: in there reading lips or you know, something like that.
- 46:18Speaker 9: So hey, cover your mouth if I'm calling a playout,
- 46:21Speaker 9: which most of the time I'm covering it anyway, but
- 46:25Speaker 9: there are that does happen You're.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Covering your mouth so they don't lip read. I thought
- 46:28Speaker 1: I always thought it was like, oh, bad breath. You know,
- 46:30Speaker 1: I haven't had water in a while. Both, that's interesting.
- 46:32Speaker 2: You didn't know that.
- 46:33Speaker 8: I have no clue. Even like baseball, I was like,
- 46:35Speaker 8: why do they keep covering their mouth? That's what it is?
- 46:37Speaker 9: That's what it is?
- 46:38Speaker 2: Well, we really that dumbs on? Wow? Okay, coach, you
- 46:42Speaker 2: were the wide receiver coach a couple of different organizations.
- 46:45Speaker 2: How hard is that when you haven't played wide receiver?
- 46:48Speaker 2: Or is it? So? Is it a different perspective to
- 46:51Speaker 2: coach them since you've worked with them?
- 46:54Speaker 9: I love coaching, I love coaching receivers. It was a
- 46:57Speaker 9: great experience to really, I think it helped me be
- 46:59Speaker 9: a better offsive coordinator and and and better head coach
- 47:02Speaker 9: because and I always felt like as a quarterback playing
- 47:06Speaker 9: for so many years, you're working with the receivers, you know,
- 47:09Speaker 9: I especially the backup quarterback. I always felt like I
- 47:12Speaker 9: was an assistant wide receiver coach because you got to
- 47:15Speaker 9: get how the quarterback likes it so love it. Love
- 47:18Speaker 9: those guys, you know, how hard they work, how much
- 47:20Speaker 9: they run. I've learned a lot from a lot of
- 47:22Speaker 9: you know, Coach Larry Fitzgerald unbelieved you know, uh senior,
- 47:27Speaker 9: you know, uh now junior. You know Reggie Wayne had
- 47:31Speaker 9: shot at Marvin Harrison. You know, like those guys, like
- 47:34Speaker 9: you feel like you're the student and you're listening and
- 47:37Speaker 9: learning from them.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Coach, how do you watch the whole game? Like, how
- 47:42Speaker 1: do you how could you see everything? You know, not
- 47:45Speaker 1: just your quarterback, not just your receivers, not just where
- 47:47Speaker 1: you're where your ball's going, but how are your eyes
- 47:49Speaker 1: on everything during the game? Because I coached my son's
- 47:52Speaker 1: basketball team, and it's tough. My eyes are always on
- 47:54Speaker 1: my point guard because that's my son, and the hardest
- 47:56Speaker 1: on him.
- 47:56Speaker 9: Yeah, they're there. You're very selective, right certain places, you
- 48:00Speaker 9: selective certain plays. I'm watching the whole thing, and then
- 48:02Speaker 9: certain plays like, I know, hey, we've called this play
- 48:06Speaker 9: and we break the huddle, they're in the coverage that
- 48:09Speaker 9: we want, and it's like, Okay, let's just dial in
- 48:13Speaker 9: on that guy right there, because if we beat that guy,
- 48:15Speaker 9: this is going to be a touchdown. And then you're
- 48:17Speaker 9: zoned in on one guy and there's other times you're
- 48:19Speaker 9: kind of looking full field.
- 48:21Speaker 2: This is the final question, and really it's a question
- 48:23Speaker 2: I'm sure a lot of you guys are asking, but
- 48:24Speaker 2: the development of Bryce, Like, what is the realistic expectation
- 48:28Speaker 2: of the development of a rookie quarterback Versus what's the
- 48:32Speaker 2: unrealistic expectation of a first round pick, number one overall
- 48:34Speaker 2: pick a guy like Bryce youngc This's a different kind
- 48:36Speaker 2: of pressure there with Bryce than anyone else. How are
- 48:39Speaker 2: you guys going into that this season?
- 48:41Speaker 9: Just trying to keep the expectations focused on the day
- 48:44Speaker 9: to day process, that's just so important. Like I'm never
- 48:47Speaker 9: going to get tired of saying that, because you know,
- 48:50Speaker 9: it's just natural. We all coaches, people, media, fans, everybody
- 48:55Speaker 9: wants to put the expectations on some result. And it's
- 48:59Speaker 9: not that we don't all have high hopes and expectations
- 49:02Speaker 9: for results. But the quarterback position is so multi factorial.
- 49:06Speaker 9: There's so many things that go into it that you know,
- 49:09Speaker 9: that's things that are in your control and out of
- 49:11Speaker 9: your control. So we just try to focus on the
- 49:14Speaker 9: day to day development. And we're very comfortable with who
- 49:18Speaker 9: Bryce is, with where he is, and with the players
- 49:21Speaker 9: around them. So let's just get on the right trajectory
- 49:24Speaker 9: and let's just see how it plays out.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Coach, really appreciate the time. And one final time, I
- 49:28Speaker 2: would rush for one hundred yards through a whole season.
- 49:30Speaker 2: We heard it here one of the greatest minds in
- 49:32Speaker 2: the NFL, and they will just leave it to that,
- 49:35Speaker 2: and thanks, coach, really appreciate it.
- 49:37Speaker 9: Thanks guys.
- 49:42Speaker 2: All right, there you go, thanks to coach Rag. All right,
- 49:44Speaker 2: let's do quickly your favorite team? How they do you
- 49:49Speaker 2: get thirty seconds to talk about whatever? You go first, Kevin,
- 49:55Speaker 2: you can even talk about if you all about the
- 49:56Speaker 2: Patriots coming up the next week. Yeah, this is your
- 49:58Speaker 2: selfish time.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Go.
- 50:01Speaker 6: I don't know how to feel, honestly coming into the season.
- 50:03Speaker 6: A boy, the Patriots, I know they got Bill O'Brien
- 50:05Speaker 6: now and they got I don't know who Juju Ezekiel, right,
- 50:09Speaker 6: Elliott Eddie. But their offensive line, I don't know what
- 50:12Speaker 6: to make of them, and they need an offensive line
- 50:14Speaker 6: for mac Jones. So I'm kind of scared. Not gonna
- 50:15Speaker 6: lie Riley Reef. They're starting right tackles now out for
- 50:18Speaker 6: the first four weeks. Their defense should be good, but
- 50:20Speaker 6: outside of that, I don't know what.
- 50:22Speaker 2: To expect about Mack Corroll. Now, they got mat Carrel.
- 50:24Speaker 2: He's their backup, I know, which is crazy, and we
- 50:26Speaker 2: played the Eagles week one.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I'm like, oh no, wait, so who filled in the
- 50:28Speaker 1: spot at the Panthers.
- 50:31Speaker 3: Andy Dalton? Oh so he's just the backup though, Yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 2: They have a I mean because Macrel's gonna be a third
- 50:36Speaker 2: straight quarterback, right, Yeah, so Dalton's the backup.
- 50:41Speaker 3: They knew that, he knew his role. So you don't
- 50:43Speaker 3: think Zeke's going to be used there? No, he will.
- 50:46Speaker 6: Like their running game should be decent, but they also
- 50:48Speaker 6: need a good offensive line and they don't have that.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what scares me. The ze can play center.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Remember that's true.
- 50:53Speaker 1: There you go, last play as a Cowboy that was
- 50:57Speaker 1: it is awful, Eddie. You know the Cowboys. What am
- 51:03Speaker 1: I gonna say? Like, let's just see what happens. I
- 51:04Speaker 1: really I'm excited. I mean, I think, like every year,
- 51:08Speaker 1: it's just good. I think Dack's on a mission. He
- 51:10Speaker 1: says he's not gonna throw one single interception this year.
- 51:12Speaker 1: That's not what he said. I believe him. That's not
- 51:14Speaker 1: what he said. And so let's go on forward with
- 51:16Speaker 1: that mentality. Let's not throw a pick. Let's go to
- 51:19Speaker 1: the super Bowl. But I will say to college this year,
- 51:22Speaker 1: this week, I did lose a lot of money in college.
- 51:24Speaker 1: But man, the fact that Oregon beat Portland State eighty
- 51:26Speaker 1: one to seven, that's savage.
- 51:28Speaker 2: What about Oklahoma be in Arkansas State like seventy He
- 51:30Speaker 2: was crying five to zero or whatever. And that's another
- 51:32Speaker 2: thing to the coach, their head coach for Arkansas State.
- 51:35Speaker 3: I didn't see that. I was I was in freaking Paris, and.
- 51:39Speaker 2: AM was annoyed, and I was like, why can I
- 51:41Speaker 2: not watch a college football game?
- 51:42Speaker 3: He was crying, And then it's like, dude, don't cry
- 51:44Speaker 3: you I didn't see it.
- 51:45Speaker 2: You had showned oh and bus John's like former North
- 51:48Speaker 2: Carolina from a Miami coach.
- 51:50Speaker 4: She was crying because it was on the sideline.
- 51:54Speaker 2: My family are Oklahoma fans and I try not to
- 51:57Speaker 2: hate Oklahoma, although they did reject us and doing it
- 51:59Speaker 2: too much access there, so they can also suck my
- 52:01Speaker 2: balls right now, damn for now, just that just the
- 52:05Speaker 2: foot for now, because that Patty Gasso head softball coach there, goat,
- 52:09Speaker 2: yeah you didn't mean that. No relative family, But and
- 52:15Speaker 2: now you know what, Joe Cie, I love you, athletic director.
- 52:17Speaker 3: So then let's just let's just retract that statement. Then
- 52:20Speaker 3: balls my suck. Okay, took it back. I did it backwards.
- 52:24Speaker 2: But it's like they've They're like, oh no, so for now,
- 52:29Speaker 2: suck my balls for now.
- 52:31Speaker 3: Oh boy, he's back to it.
- 52:33Speaker 2: But but my family loves them, and I'm good with
- 52:36Speaker 2: him too. I just wish that they would be nicer
- 52:38Speaker 2: to us. And so yeah, I said, well, why do
- 52:41Speaker 2: you guys run the score up in Arkansas State? And
- 52:43Speaker 2: he was like, we try. We didn't on purpose. We
- 52:45Speaker 2: just started running the ball at the end of the
- 52:46Speaker 2: game and they couldn't stop it.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Oh yeah, if you're running the ball and you're just
- 52:50Speaker 3: plowing through them, that sucks. I gotta go watch. But
- 52:53Speaker 3: Davis cry though.
- 52:55Speaker 2: He won a national championship with Miami, right or did
- 52:58Speaker 2: he was he in right after the national champion of Miami.
- 53:01Speaker 4: I don't know if he won it with it?
- 53:03Speaker 3: It's a google away, keV.
- 53:04Speaker 4: That's what I'm on it.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Because I know he was there for a while. I
- 53:08Speaker 2: know he's at North Carolina for a while as their
- 53:14Speaker 2: head coach. No Miami, Yeah, ever sing Florida. I'm not
- 53:19Speaker 2: saying anything. I'm just making going for my home. Butch
- 53:21Speaker 2: Davis type in Butch Davis, Miami. Let's see what comes up.
- 53:25Speaker 3: Nothing, Nope? Was he never head coaching?
- 53:27Speaker 4: Nope?
- 53:28Speaker 3: All right, well, I guess I'm wrong. It happens.
- 53:30Speaker 6: He's at Tennessee, Cincinnati, Central, Michigan, West Virginia.
- 53:32Speaker 3: Is you ever an offensive coordinator.
- 53:34Speaker 4: There at Miami?
- 53:35Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 53:35Speaker 1: Nope, He's not gonna quit with Miami. Did he ever
- 53:37Speaker 1: stay in a hotel in Miami?
- 53:38Speaker 3: I'm seeing he was a head coach there for six seasons?
- 53:40Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 53:41Speaker 3: Now wow two thousand? Thank you Kevin?
- 53:45Speaker 2: Well Wikipedia, Butch Davis, and he was the head coach
- 53:51Speaker 2: the University of Miami Hurricane Football ta FM ninety five
- 53:53Speaker 2: to two thousand.
- 53:57Speaker 3: Kevin, Are you okay, buddy? There's nothing on wicked.
- 54:00Speaker 2: I'm literally looking at why only go to Wikipedia, though
- 54:05Speaker 2: you're like, well, not on a Wikipedia.
- 54:06Speaker 3: I give up it.
- 54:07Speaker 4: It was not on the internet. It's not true.
- 54:10Speaker 2: He probably didn't want a national championship then, but yeah
- 54:12Speaker 2: he did. He did coach at Miami. Anyway, I'll go
- 54:18Speaker 2: about Arkansas. We played Western Carolina, obviously, do you watch it?
- 54:23Speaker 2: I did on TikTok, both ESPN some but I kept
- 54:28Speaker 2: having to pay ten dollars for over and over again
- 54:29Speaker 2: for high speed access because I was using my phone,
- 54:32Speaker 2: because I use a we call a thing where you
- 54:36Speaker 2: hide where you're.
- 54:36Speaker 3: From, Mike VPN.
- 54:38Speaker 2: I use a VPN called I don't who cares, and
- 54:41Speaker 2: it won't block on Internet, it'll block through cell phones.
- 54:44Speaker 2: So I've said I was from Chicago, got it, and
- 54:46Speaker 2: then I was watching, but I kept having to pay
- 54:48Speaker 2: ten dollars every twenty minutes for high speed access internationally.
- 54:51Speaker 2: So I'll pay like seventy bucks to watch that game.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Oh man, Speaking of dude, how are you going to
