- 0:53Speaker 2: A little Tuesday morning brought to you by Community Steel.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Jake, Flynn, Alondra, Taytay all back in studio together.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Is your mic not plugged in? I didn't hear the
- 1:10Speaker 3: howl or the yo.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I just thought he was just. I'll tell you what
- 1:15Speaker 2: it was. It was, this was on push to talk,
- 1:17Speaker 2: not push to mute. People trying to sabotage me right.
- 1:24Speaker 5: Here.
- 1:24Speaker 2: So no one heard my howl?
- 1:25Speaker 6: No.
- 1:25Speaker 3: There you go.
- 1:27Speaker 2: That was a good one. That was decent. Pretty half-butted.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Should have heard my original one. Nobody did.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I mean, like, I faintly heard it, but I don't
- 1:38Speaker 3: know if the mic's picked up.
- 1:39Speaker 7: Sounded like a Tuesday at Tal last week.
- 1:41Speaker 2: That was really cute, though.
- 1:44Speaker 3: It was adorable.
- 1:46Speaker 2: You didn't want to say A-S-S? Yeah, not 702. Who's
- 1:50Speaker 2: in Carpool now? It's a little early, right? No, it's
- 1:53Speaker 2: about when my kids leave. All right. You can say Otis.
- 1:58Speaker 2: My face.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Arse.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yep. Okay, Otis. Stick your head between your legs and
- 2:06Speaker 2: kiss you to an artist. Yeah. Well, here we are. Okay. Yeah,
- 2:12Speaker 2: we're back. How was yesterday? We missed y'all. We definitely
- 2:16Speaker 2: remembered we had that, too.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Well, Andre, it doesn't matter how many times you remind us.
- 2:23Speaker 2: It does not. It really doesn't.
- 2:24Speaker 8: I know.
- 2:25Speaker 6: I just want to make it clear that it's something
- 2:27Speaker 6: that y'all agreed to, and it's not something I made
- 2:29Speaker 6: y'all do.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I believe that.
- 2:33Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I believe that.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Because I don't.
- 2:35Speaker 2: It feels like we got Gordy.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I don't want to get blamed.
- 2:37Speaker 8: No, no, no.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It feels like we got Gordy.
- 2:39Speaker 3: No, Gordy had nothing to do with it.
- 2:41Speaker 2: It feels like we did.
- 2:41Speaker 10: It was all Alondra.
- 2:42Speaker 6: Lauren texted me asking me, and then I asked y'all,
- 2:48Speaker 6: and y'all said, let's do it.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Is this how you sound like? I know. It's fine.
- 2:54Speaker 2: It was great. It was fantastic. I did hate not
- 2:58Speaker 2: being able to show video yesterday. Yeah. It's the only problem. Yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 2: for sure. That was a great event. It was awesome.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Saw a lot of awesome people we knew. Yeah, we did.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Just didn't know if it was like a Deshaun Watson
- 3:07Speaker 2: situation where like, whoa, we agreed to it, but like.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Did you make us agree?
- 3:16Speaker 5: I actually tried to go back to find the message.
- 3:21Speaker 5: I tried to go back to find the messages because
- 3:23Speaker 5: I'm like, I am not about to be like blamed
- 3:27Speaker 5: for this.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Y'all said yes.
- 3:31Speaker 2: It was great. Hey, look. Taylor was like, did they
- 3:35Speaker 2: cut the grass every time we got a show there?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Or do they do it every day? I'm like, pretty
- 3:39Speaker 2: sure they do it every day because it was fine
- 3:41Speaker 2: out there. It looked really good.
- 3:43Speaker 8: It did.
- 3:43Speaker 2: It got a little hot. It got a little sticky
- 3:46Speaker 2: there at the end. It got a little hot. It did.
- 3:50Speaker 2: It would have been better moving around, driving around in
- 3:53Speaker 2: a golf cart, but it is Baton Rouge. I kind
- 3:56Speaker 2: of wanted to be playing golf out there. You really
- 3:58Speaker 2: want a wireless mic so bad. So bad.
- 4:01Speaker 3: He's brought it up like three times.
- 4:02Speaker 2: In a week. It's just little hints.
- 4:05Speaker 4: We do need to get a longer cord because mine
- 4:07Speaker 4: kept getting caught in his cankle.
- 4:09Speaker 2: You just didn't.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Have the extenders out?
- 4:12Speaker 4: No, and I couldn't move my head. I had to
- 4:15Speaker 4: lean to the right a little bit.
- 4:18Speaker 2: They could have been extended. Who knows? The extenders are
- 4:23Speaker 2: pretty extended. We usually do the applause button and the
- 4:28Speaker 2: sound effects board wasn't on the table.
- 4:29Speaker 8: No.
- 4:32Speaker 2: He didn't trust us with it. Smart.
- 4:35Speaker 11: I just feel like as soon as the show starts,
- 4:39Speaker 11: whoever the lawnmower guy is over there is like, show started.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I got to crank this thing up. Last time it
- 4:44Speaker 2: was the guy with the leaf blower.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Yeah, the leaf blower.
- 4:47Speaker 2: He was like, we were feeling the wind. I forgot
- 4:51Speaker 2: about that. I had to go yell at him. Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I'm sure we had just lost the game or we
- 4:57Speaker 2: scored 10 points and threw. Seven. We were not. Seven screens.
- 5:04Speaker 2: He ran inside zone 26 times.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Yeah, that's exactly what happened. I took my anger probably
- 5:09Speaker 4: out on the leaf blower guy. Guess what? Those days
- 5:14Speaker 4: are gone, bud.
- 5:15Speaker 2: They are. They're gone. And it's Ole Miss week. It is.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Lane said the pressure's on them. He did. Sure did.
- 5:24Speaker 11: Because he highlighted their wins a year ago, LSU's wins
- 5:27Speaker 11: a year ago.
- 5:28Speaker 7: I'm like, Lane, I think the pressure's on you, man.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I think it's on both. I mean... It's absolutely on both.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think there's more pressure on Lane. More yet.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I think that's obvious, but there is both on.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Him as an individual, but Ole Miss has plenty of pressure. Oh,
- 5:45Speaker 2: for sure. And the points that Lane laid out... The
- 5:48Speaker 2: last thing that they want is for Lane to win
- 5:50Speaker 2: with LSU. Oh, for sure. Well, yeah. I mean, obviously,
- 5:55Speaker 2: that's what's going to make this game so great.
- 5:59Speaker 1: But.
- 6:00Speaker 2: If Lane loses, if LSU loses, Lane's going to take
- 6:03Speaker 2: way more heat than if Ole Miss loses. Oh, yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 2: he will. Oh, yeah, that's what I'm saying. Don't let
- 6:13Speaker 2: LSU win. Because Twitter would be an interesting place for
- 6:21Speaker 2: an Ole Miss fan. Yeah, but the Twitter world will
- 6:25Speaker 2: only burn for a little while if LSU wins. If
- 6:29Speaker 2: Ole Miss wins. Twitter world's going to burn for a while.
- 6:35Speaker 2: It'll be a long burn. I mean, the fallout's going
- 6:44Speaker 2: to be fantastic. The buildup's going to be great. The
- 6:47Speaker 2: fallout's going to be fantastic. Just from a drama situation.
- 6:55Speaker 2: You know what? It's funny.
- 6:56Speaker 4: I was talking to you all about Walking to the
- 7:00Speaker 4: broadcast booth, because you've got to go through the fans.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Walking down from the broadcast booth might actually be the
- 7:07Speaker 4: lead story. Depending on how it plays out.
- 7:12Speaker 3: I don't even think about that.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Depending on how it plays out.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Because if LSU loses, then they're going to be real
- 7:18Speaker 4: hyped up. I don't do well in that kind of confrontation.
- 7:25Speaker 4: But if LSU wins... You're going to fight.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Just because you and T-Bob are the two most passive
- 7:31Speaker 2: people I've ever met. When was the last time you
- 7:32Speaker 2: got in a fight? I don't know. College? September 05.
- 7:42Speaker 4: When was the last time you got in one?
- 7:47Speaker 2: Old fisticuffs. I actually got one at my bachelor party. Oh, wait. Wait.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Do tell. Where was your bachelor party? It was in Austin, Texas.
- 8:00Speaker 3: That's an easy place to get in a fight in.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It was in a Whataburger.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I'm dead. That is the most Texan thing.
- 8:06Speaker 2: That I've ever heard. We had one of our good
- 8:12Speaker 2: friends that we know and love. We're sitting there and
- 8:15Speaker 2: it was after bachelor party things. After some beverages and refreshments.
- 8:22Speaker 2: We're sitting there getting a Getting a post-dinner meal right
- 8:27Speaker 2: before going to bed. We're going to Whataburger. It's going
- 8:29Speaker 2: to be delicious. We're tasting it. And we're sitting in line.
- 8:32Speaker 2: We're standing in line there. We had a big party bus.
- 8:34Speaker 2: We couldn't go to the drive-thru, so we walk in.
- 8:36Speaker 2: There's this group of fellas behind us. Not nice fellas.
- 8:40Speaker 2: And they were being very loose with their language toward
- 8:46Speaker 2: the people that worked there. They were rude. They were
- 8:49Speaker 2: yelling at them and using curse words. And one of
- 8:53Speaker 2: the people... That might be from Canada. I was there
- 8:59Speaker 2: in my group. He said, please stop talking to them
- 9:02Speaker 2: that way. And he said he uses manners because he
- 9:05Speaker 2: always uses manners because he's from Canada. Well, there's another group,
- 9:09Speaker 2: a guy in the group that may or may not
- 9:11Speaker 2: be from Barb High School. Who was standing next to
- 9:17Speaker 2: us in my group. And all of a sudden, he
- 9:20Speaker 2: got punched from the side, and he wasn't even part
- 9:22Speaker 2: of it. He wasn't even looking.
- 9:23Speaker 3: He caught a stray.
- 9:24Speaker 2: He caught a stray, a hard stray.
- 9:26Speaker 3: That's messed up.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And all of a sudden, I see my buddy sitting
- 9:28Speaker 2: there on the ground. Not sitting there, you know. He
- 9:32Speaker 2: got knocked on the ground.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yep. And then at some point, you just.
- 9:37Speaker 3: You start throwing.
- 9:38Speaker 2: You just got to fight. You know, sometimes you just
- 9:40Speaker 2: got to fight. There's a few things to fight for,
- 9:43Speaker 2: and protecting your loved ones.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yeah, and Whataburger employees.
- 9:47Speaker 2: And you got to stand up for them. You got
- 9:49Speaker 2: to be chivalrous sometimes.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:51Speaker 2: They did not appreciate that.
- 9:52Speaker 11: Did any of the Whataburger employees join in?
- 9:55Speaker 2: It said in Waffle House.
- 9:56Speaker 7: That's what I was about to ask.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I wanted to compare. No, they didn't, but... they helped.
- 10:01Speaker 2: They got free food? No, well, no, because the cops
- 10:03Speaker 2: are coming. And they helped us. They helped everybody get out.
- 10:06Speaker 2: And they're like, thank y'all. Thank y'all very much. And
- 10:08Speaker 2: they like scooted us on out of there. And we
- 10:10Speaker 2: just went out the back. They said, yo, 5-0's coming.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Come out the back.
- 10:12Speaker 3: I would have thrown you a honey butter chicken biscuit
- 10:14Speaker 3: on the way.
- 10:15Speaker 7: Yeah, come out the back.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Well, they make them fresh to order, you know?
- 10:18Speaker 7: Yeah, true.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Didn't have it. I'm proud of you. What? For doing something.
- 10:24Speaker 2: You don't like confrontation. Bro. You don't. You're talking to
- 10:29Speaker 2: me like.
- 10:30Speaker 4: No, it's not like that. No, it's different than T-Bob's.
- 10:32Speaker 4: T-Bob's was very, very, very, very bad.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I certainly don't like to go look for it. No,
- 10:38Speaker 2: I know. I'm saying you don't typically like it. I
- 10:40Speaker 2: feel like there's a few times.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Even when I get mad at somebody here, you try
- 10:44Speaker 4: to de-escalate my madness.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Right. I'm very level-headed. I like to see all situations
- 10:51Speaker 2: at all times. I feel like that made me a
- 10:55Speaker 2: decent quarterback back in the day.
- 10:58Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Decent.
- 11:00Speaker 7: Hey, stay calm.
- 11:01Speaker 3: You're right.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Honorable mention. All district. Not a big deal. Not that
- 11:06Speaker 2: big of a deal.
- 11:07Speaker 3: We're teens in the district.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. You know?
- 11:11Speaker 7: Still the wildest part of that.
- 11:15Speaker 2: We're team district. Yeah.
- 11:20Speaker 3: It's a very Texan story.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Anyway, we got them. We got them.
- 11:24Speaker 7: Ladies and gentlemen.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I had a cowboy hat on too. Strong cowboy hat.
- 11:28Speaker 7: You should have led with that.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Wife beater. This is also, can I say this? This
- 11:34Speaker 2: is also after I just got traded to the Raiders.
- 11:37Speaker 7: So you were in a bad mood.
- 11:39Speaker 2: So that was perfect. You were in a bad mood.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I was in a bad mood. That's right. One of
- 11:44Speaker 2: my friends grabbed me. Ducked my head and started escorting
- 11:49Speaker 2: me out.
- 11:49Speaker 3: He's like, this isn't Oakland.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I was like, you got to get out of here.
- 11:51Speaker 2: This isn't Oakland.
- 11:52Speaker 7: They said, carefully, play us for the Raiders. And they
- 11:54Speaker 7: were like, who the hell's the Raiders?
- 11:57Speaker 2: I looked at my cowboy hat, and there was a
- 12:00Speaker 2: splatter on it.
- 12:02Speaker 9: Dang.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Proud of me. Spicy ketchup? Proud of me. Spicy ketchup.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I'm not a fan of spicy ketchup.
- 12:09Speaker 8: What?
- 12:09Speaker 3: The spicy ketchup hits so hard.
- 12:10Speaker 2: You know, I want it to. I want it to
- 12:12Speaker 2: because it's got a sexy little packet. But just the
- 12:16Speaker 2: regular ketchup, just the fancy ketchup, just.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I respect it. I don't like it, though. Like, I
- 12:23Speaker 3: respect how you feel.
- 12:24Speaker 8: I don't like it either.
- 12:24Speaker 3: But I don't like it.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I want to like it.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Because the spicy ketchup is... Bruh.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I love it. I know. I know. I want to.
- 12:33Speaker 2: And I try, but I just can't get away from
- 12:35Speaker 2: the fancy. I get both. I get both. Go back
- 12:40Speaker 2: and forth. And now, all four of us, and probably...
- 12:44Speaker 2: All the tens of people listening are going to want
- 12:47Speaker 2: Whataburger for the rest of the day. Unless they, you know,
- 12:53Speaker 2: just don't yell at the employees. That's all I ask.
- 12:55Speaker 2: All right. Not where I really had the show. Touch
- 13:00Speaker 2: these hands.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Are those the worst people, though?
- 13:02Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 6: Those are the worst people that mistreat workers and are
- 13:07Speaker 6: rude to them for no reason.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Top two worst people, and they ain't two.
- 13:13Speaker 2: They ain't two. I like that.
- 13:17Speaker 3: I know top five, my bad. And they ain't five.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I said it wrong.
- 13:21Speaker 3: I said it the right way, but.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I mean, I knew it was yours.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Not our way.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Big fantasy matchup yesterday.
- 13:31Speaker 7: You crushed it.
- 13:33Speaker 4: He said on the show yesterday, he goes, Kenneth Walker
- 13:37Speaker 4: is going to get you. And I'm like, he can
- 13:39Speaker 4: have a big game, but he's got to score like
- 13:40Speaker 4: 30-something points.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Well, he did. I think he had to score 34.
- 13:43Speaker 4: And then I was like, I think he might have
- 13:45Speaker 4: got me. And then when I went and looked, it
- 13:47Speaker 4: was like decimal points.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Let's see. Yep. 131.96 to 131.46. Gotcha. He did. You suck. Surprise, surprise,
- 14:02Speaker 2: Lance Harbor.
- 14:03Speaker 7: Your tech said, ah, crush Jake.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I didn't think there was a chance, but I was like, man,
- 14:10Speaker 2: watch out for Kenneth Walker. That dude could have the
- 14:13Speaker 2: best rushing performance of his life, and he did. He
- 14:17Speaker 2: certainly did. How many points did he get? I can't
- 14:20Speaker 2: find it. All of them. 34.1 points. Yeah. And by
- 14:29Speaker 2: the way, Kansas City might be back. They are back.
- 14:34Speaker 7: All they got to do is run the damn ball.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I told you at training camp.
- 14:38Speaker 4: It looked like a well-oiled machine.
- 14:41Speaker 2: It translated because they beat the hell out of Denver.
- 14:45Speaker 2: They made Denver look real bad. How many missed tackles
- 14:49Speaker 2: did Denver have? And Denver is good on defense and
- 14:53Speaker 2: does not have people that miss a lot of tackles.
- 14:55Speaker 2: They missed them yesterday.
- 14:57Speaker 11: That long touchdown run by Walker on fourth down, they
- 15:01Speaker 11: missed the tackle in the backfield. He should have got
- 15:03Speaker 11: tackled in the backfield.
- 15:03Speaker 2: That should have been Denver's fault. That's a strong old boy.
- 15:06Speaker 2: That is a strong dude, man. He was very impressive.
- 15:10Speaker 2: That was one of the more impressive performances I saw
- 15:14Speaker 2: all weekend was Kenneth Walker. And the big knock on
- 15:18Speaker 2: Kansas City for multiple years has been, look, Kansas City,
- 15:23Speaker 2: you're not taking advantage of Patrick Mahomes. You're not putting
- 15:26Speaker 2: the support around him. You're not doing this, not doing that. Well,
- 15:30Speaker 2: they did it this year. And yeah, you could say
- 15:33Speaker 2: maybe they don't have like the receiver, like the, that
- 15:35Speaker 2: number one star receiver core, their receivers played well yesterday.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And Kenneth Walker is a going to make Patrick Mahomes
- 15:43Speaker 2: so dangerous. He's already great in play action passing, but
- 15:47Speaker 2: now you got to worry about Kenneth Walker running downhill
- 15:49Speaker 2: at you with that play action on top of it.
- 15:52Speaker 2: And I don't know how he did it. He's got
- 15:53Speaker 2: a super human knee, super human doctor. I don't know
- 15:57Speaker 2: what it is, but his ability to come back, First
- 16:01Speaker 2: drive of the game, scrambled twice to score a touchdown.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Got called back the first time, but the very next play,
- 16:07Speaker 2: did it again. Last night's performance by the Chiefs was
- 16:13Speaker 2: beyond impressive for multiple different reasons. Because Kenneth Walker's performance,
- 16:17Speaker 2: how they made the Broncos, really good Broncos team look,
- 16:19Speaker 2: and how good Mahomes looked after an ACL surgery. So,
- 16:23Speaker 2: really impressive on a lot of different levels.
- 16:25Speaker 4: I saw him like six months after surgery, he had
- 16:28Speaker 4: no knee brace on after a Two ligament tear.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Like, what? And he was running around doing Patrick Mahomes things.
- 16:37Speaker 2: It's remarkable. I mean, we kind of said they're inevitable.
- 16:41Speaker 4: And last year, like, shocked a lot of us because
- 16:43Speaker 4: it just, it's never supposed to happen to Patrick Mahomes,
- 16:46Speaker 4: Andy Reid, and that whole bunch. But Spaggs had them
- 16:50Speaker 4: dialed back in.
- 16:51Speaker 2: The offense was incredible. So, yeah. Yeah. Wait, watch out.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Chiefs are back. Cool. No, like. I don't care what
- 17:01Speaker 2: kind of super team you got. Everybody should be on
- 17:04Speaker 2: notice right now. I'm with you. All right, we will
- 17:07Speaker 2: step away.
- 17:07Speaker 4: We will get into LSU and Ole Miss here coming
- 17:10Speaker 4: up in the next segment.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Stay locked in, OTB.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 17:15Speaker 4: All right, go to FABT.com, FABT.com, First American Bank and Trust.
- 17:20Speaker 4: They've been in the game for well over 100 years. And, look,
- 17:23Speaker 4: you don't stay in the game, in the banking game
- 17:25Speaker 4: for sure, over 100 years unless you're treating people the
- 17:27Speaker 4: right way and you're helping your local community. And that's
- 17:30Speaker 4: always what they do over at FABT.
- 17:33Speaker 2: You are a face. You are a name.
- 17:35Speaker 4: You are a relationship. You're not just another account number
- 17:37Speaker 4: that they don't know. And so that's kind of what
- 17:40Speaker 4: sets them apart because you're going to walk in. You're
- 17:42Speaker 4: going to have a conversation with somebody that is there
- 17:44Speaker 4: for you, looking out for you. And then if you're
- 17:46Speaker 4: worried about them not having all the bells and whistles
- 17:48Speaker 4: of the national banks, don't worry about that. If you're
- 17:50Speaker 4: watching this on YouTube, you see their online banking is
- 17:53Speaker 4: set up for success as well.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Go to FABT.com. That's right, do banking with a local bank,
- 17:59Speaker 2: a local bank that's been doing business here in Louisiana
- 18:01Speaker 2: for over a century. Over 100 years, they've been working
- 18:04Speaker 2: with Louisiana families, Louisiana individuals, Louisiana businesses to help you
- 18:08Speaker 2: with all your banking needs, your common banking needs, now
- 18:11Speaker 2: your online banking needs, but also your loans as well.
- 18:13Speaker 2: So go give them a call. Go check them out.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Go visit a branch today. First American Banking Trust, fabt.com.
- 18:18Speaker 2: First American Banking Trust, fabt.com.
- 18:31Speaker 9: In my foolish lover's game On this sailing ocean Finally
- 18:42Speaker 9: lovers know no shame Turning every time Into some secret place.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Inside Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn,
- 19:09Speaker 1: presented by Community Steel.
- 19:11Speaker 10: All right, welcome back in, OTB.
- 19:27Speaker 4: You're live from the Raising Cane Studio every single Tuesday.
- 19:31Speaker 4: A couple things you can count on. Actually, a few
- 19:34Speaker 4: things you can count on. Community Steel.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. CommunitySteelCo.com. That's one. Great 80s music. That's two. And,
- 19:44Speaker 2: of course, Nick Underhill, New Orleans Stop Football. That's three.
- 19:52Speaker 2: You also can count on a sketch of Flynn getting
- 19:56Speaker 2: in a fight at Whataburger.
- 19:58Speaker 11: The accuracy of that picture that was sent to us
- 20:00Speaker 11: is incredible.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Shout out always to the Rick. If you just sign
- 20:04Speaker 2: his cards the way he wants you to, my love.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Can you throw that picture up there, too?
- 20:07Speaker 7: Yeah, I'll pull it up.
- 20:09Speaker 3: It's the Raiders jersey for me.
- 20:11Speaker 7: And the Canadian flag in the background just hanging out.
- 20:14Speaker 10: Wait, I just noticed the Canadian flag.
- 20:16Speaker 7: Yeah, just hanging out in the back.
- 20:18Speaker 2: That's amazing. The frightened employees.
- 20:20Speaker 11: Your LSU championship ring that's about the size of your forearm.
- 20:24Speaker 2: He definitely wears that out. Definitely, all the time.
- 20:26Speaker 8: He does.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Bachelor party. Definitely seen that.
- 20:28Speaker 3: I bet you don't know where it is.
- 20:30Speaker 2: No chance you know where the LSU is. I do
- 20:33Speaker 2: know where it is. Super Bowl, yes.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Because I had to lift that heavy sum gun it's in.
- 20:38Speaker 4: It's safe.
- 20:42Speaker 2: All the rings are in the safe. Okay. Even though
- 20:46Speaker 2: the LSU ones, they're made of cubic circular. Yeah, they're
- 20:49Speaker 2: not real. They're worth about $ 400.
- 20:50Speaker 9: Lame.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Because back in the day, back when it was illegal
- 20:54Speaker 2: to pay players, there was only a certain amount of
- 20:57Speaker 2: money you could spend on championship rings or it was
- 21:00Speaker 2: always considered an incentive, an illegal incentive for a student athlete.
- 21:05Speaker 2: So if you won the national championship, I think they
- 21:07Speaker 2: can only spend like 400 bucks per player on the ring.
- 21:10Speaker 2: But the coaches got the real stuff.
- 21:11Speaker 10: An illegal incentive?
- 21:12Speaker 2: It was like paying players if you bought them a
- 21:16Speaker 2: real ring.
- 21:16Speaker 11: Excuse me for thinking winning the national championship should be
- 21:20Speaker 11: the incentive.
- 21:21Speaker 7: I mean, that's, and you get the ring because you won.
- 21:23Speaker 7: I mean, that seems like, it screams.
- 21:25Speaker 2: So the coaches and probably support staff got the real
- 21:28Speaker 2: rings and the players. We got the, it looks great.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Can't tell. Unless you get one of them Monocles. Yeah.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I've worn mine three times. Yeah. One of them was
- 21:42Speaker 2: to the 10-year reunion party. Yep. I'll probably wear it
- 21:47Speaker 2: to the 20-year pretty soon. Next year. Oh, look at there.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Look at there. That's actually a real picture. I do
- 21:57Speaker 2: love the Canadian flag. Yep. Supporting Peter. Whoopsies. Whoopsies. He
- 22:06Speaker 2: wasn't the instigator. I don't think that was hard to
- 22:08Speaker 2: figure out. That's exactly accurate. I did a jump, left jab,
- 22:12Speaker 2: right hook for sure.
- 22:14Speaker 7: Just Superman punching this guy.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that's what you did. It looked like
- 22:18Speaker 2: Brad Pitt in the opening scene of Troy. Some are saying.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Some are saying. I don't know how we're going to
- 22:27Speaker 2: be able to play this game.
- 22:28Speaker 4: I mean, you know, Mincy woke up and tweeted, go
- 22:35Speaker 4: to hell LSU with seven exclamation marks.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I'm scared.
- 22:39Speaker 2: And then said hotty toddy with four. That's a lot
- 22:43Speaker 2: of excitement.
- 22:43Speaker 7: I thought you were saying you know he means business.
- 22:46Speaker 2: That's 11 total. You're keeping score at home. Was it
- 22:50Speaker 2: the exclamation marks on the keyboard or the emoji? On
- 22:55Speaker 2: the keyboard.
- 22:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 2: He didn't have time to go to the emoji. He
- 23:00Speaker 2: was so excited. I'll also remind you, Mince is from Louisiana.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Okay, maybe I just don't know the lore.
- 23:09Speaker 6: Is Ole Miss, are they having an identity crisis like
- 23:13Speaker 6: their entire existence?
- 23:15Speaker 3: Okay, what is Hotty Toddy?
- 23:16Speaker 2: You got three mascots.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 23:18Speaker 3: What is Hotty Toddy? Why are you the Black Bears
- 23:20Speaker 3: and the Rebels and the Landsharks?
- 23:22Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 23:23Speaker 3: And why do you have SEC West Championship banner?
- 23:26Speaker 9: Mm-hmm.
- 23:27Speaker 2: When LSU went to Atlanta and won it. Right.
- 23:29Speaker 11: I wanted to throw this in for weekend losers. Guys,
- 23:32Speaker 11: we got another participation trophy at Vaught-Hemingway.
- 23:35Speaker 2: No way.
- 23:35Speaker 11: They unveiled it for their home opener on Saturday. They
- 23:38Speaker 11: got college football playoff 2026 on their stadium.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Like, on the stadium? Yeah, they didn't win it.
- 23:44Speaker 7: And I know what you're thinking. They won the playoff
- 23:46Speaker 7: in 2026?
- 23:46Speaker 1: No.
- 23:47Speaker 11: They actually didn't even play for the championship.
- 23:50Speaker 7: But it's on there.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Wait, it's on there.
- 23:52Speaker 3: So, yeah, anyway, they're having an identity crisis.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Yeah. So it's physically on the stadium? Yeah.
- 23:59Speaker 2: It's not just like a flag? Like a one-hour print
- 24:03Speaker 2: type situation? Like a whole banner. Flag? Yeah, like Vista
- 24:06Speaker 2: print banner, you know? Or is this attached with nuts
- 24:08Speaker 2: and bolts? No, it's like on it. Good for them.
- 24:14Speaker 2: They did. Congratulations on going to the 12-man playoff. I'm
- 24:25Speaker 2: going to look that up. I guess LSU fans, I
- 24:29Speaker 2: guess LSU is going to hell. They got to go
- 24:32Speaker 2: to Oxford.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Autumn. I am very, very, very, very curious what it
- 24:40Speaker 4: is going to be like there in Oxford. LSU, like
- 24:45Speaker 4: a lot of times, that's kind of like a mid-afternoon
- 24:48Speaker 4: game too. Like that 3, was it 3.30 Eastern time kick?
- 24:52Speaker 4: It's going to be at night, obviously. Game day is
- 24:54Speaker 4: going to be there. I am very curious to see
- 24:57Speaker 4: what it is like. I'm curious to see how many
- 24:59Speaker 4: LSU fans show up as well, like what that's going
- 25:02Speaker 4: to be like. Because every LSU fan that goes to
- 25:05Speaker 4: a lot of games that I've talked to over the
- 25:06Speaker 4: summer and here in the early fall, they're, hey, we're
- 25:10Speaker 4: going to that game.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Like, we will be there.
- 25:12Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, well, if all y'all that say you're
- 25:14Speaker 4: going are actually going to be in the stadium.
- 25:18Speaker 2: If y'all are for real. That's like 30,000 people.
- 25:19Speaker 3: That's not what I thought it was going to be.
- 25:23Speaker 2: That's me neither. That's tattooed.
- 25:25Speaker 7: Yeah, it's like on the stadium.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Yeah. It's engraved.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, somebody painted that up there.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 25:34Speaker 3: I guess.
- 25:37Speaker 2: So I guess like next time they make it, do
- 25:38Speaker 2: they put comma like 36 on there?
- 25:41Speaker 1: I guess.
- 25:43Speaker 11: And the best part is the page that tweeted it out.
- 25:45Speaker 11: It's like an old mess page and they were like
- 25:46Speaker 11: hyped up about it. They're like stadium got upgrades. Time
- 25:50Speaker 11: to add more to the wall.
- 25:52Speaker 6: Someone in the chat is saying that the SMU also
- 25:54Speaker 6: did it. So it might just be a thing.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Honestly, I don't hate them for this because not all
- 26:00Speaker 2: programs are built the same. They've got to celebrate their victories,
- 26:04Speaker 2: and that's a great victory for that program.
- 26:06Speaker 11: You can't have their championships up there because they don't
- 26:09Speaker 11: win those.
- 26:09Speaker 2: For Ole Miss, that is a hell of an accomplishment.
- 26:13Speaker 2: So congratulations, honestly. Congratulations. That's a big deal for Ole Miss.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I'm happy for them.
- 26:19Speaker 3: You're happy for them?
- 26:20Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Gross. With sarcastic laundry, I was laying it on pretty thick.
- 26:41Speaker 4: I do want to get into some actual matchup pieces
- 26:45Speaker 4: to this game, so we'll do that when we come back.
- 26:47Speaker 4: I forgot Montsour Delane, by the way, got an interception
- 26:49Speaker 4: like first drive last night.
- 26:51Speaker 2: He intercepted and hurt his shoulder all in the same play.
- 26:54Speaker 2: It happens. That was a great play by him, by
- 26:57Speaker 2: the way. Yeah. I don't think he came back in
- 27:01Speaker 2: because I saw him get up pretty gingerly there after
- 27:06Speaker 2: the interception. I was just watching when he got tackled.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I thought he hit his head when it happened live,
- 27:12Speaker 2: but I guess it was a shoulder. I guess he'd
- 27:13Speaker 2: been nursing a shoulder a little bit all training camp
- 27:15Speaker 2: is what they were saying on the broadcast. He was
- 27:17Speaker 2: in a yellow jersey the day that I saw it. Now,
- 27:20Speaker 2: he got up and toughed it out enough to go
- 27:22Speaker 2: do the celebration in the end zone with his team. Yeah. So,
- 27:27Speaker 2: you know, it was tough enough to do that, but
- 27:28Speaker 2: it was kind of, yeah, I mean, got a shoulder issue.
- 27:31Speaker 2: That was a hell of a play, though. It was.
- 27:34Speaker 4: All right, so when we come back, we're going to
- 27:36Speaker 4: break down some of the matchups, who has an advantage.
- 27:39Speaker 4: These coaching staffs know each other incredibly well. How do
- 27:43Speaker 4: they know each other? Well, a lot of the same
- 27:45Speaker 4: coaches are just in different colored polos than what it
- 27:49Speaker 4: was a year ago. So we'll kind of break that
- 27:51Speaker 4: down a little bit more. We started to talk about
- 27:53Speaker 4: that a little bit yesterday. But we'll hit that in
- 27:56Speaker 4: a deeper dive when we come back here on OTB.
- 27:59Speaker 7: Off the bench.

- 29:19Speaker 8: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented
- 29:23Speaker 8: by Community Steel.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 29:32Speaker 8: All.
- 29:40Speaker 10: Right, welcome back in.
- 29:41Speaker 4: OTB here live from the Raising Cane Studio. Started talking
- 29:48Speaker 4: about this a little bit yesterday, LSU Ole Miss. There's
- 29:50Speaker 4: a lot of coaches that are at Ole Miss that
- 29:53Speaker 4: were at LSU. There's a lot of coaches that were
- 29:54Speaker 4: at LSU that were at Ole Miss. Teams know each
- 29:58Speaker 4: other very well. These coaches know each other very well. Hell,
- 30:00Speaker 4: these players know each other. very well. Now, we started
- 30:05Speaker 4: to get into this a little bit yesterday, Matt, but
- 30:08Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin and Pete Golding and Charlie Weiss Jr. and
- 30:13Speaker 4: Pete Golding went against each other every single day, every day.
- 30:17Speaker 4: In training camp, in the regular season, in spring practice,
- 30:21Speaker 4: they've gone against each other. Does that give any side
- 30:25Speaker 4: an advantage knowing that, all right, on third downs, This
- 30:31Speaker 4: offense really doesn't like to see this. On third downs,
- 30:35Speaker 4: this defense really has trouble with this. How much of
- 30:38Speaker 4: that plays into this? And also, can you get into
- 30:43Speaker 4: trouble maybe chasing some ghosts as well in your prep
- 30:47Speaker 4: for this?
- 30:49Speaker 2: It's going to be a really good chess match between
- 30:53Speaker 2: the two sides because, of course, they know each other
- 30:56Speaker 2: really well. um you just you just looked at you
- 31:00Speaker 2: just if you go and looked at the list i
- 31:01Speaker 2: know there's some lists floating around online about that shows
- 31:04Speaker 2: you like a clear representation about which familiar faces were
- 31:09Speaker 2: at old miss that are at lsu this year and
- 31:11Speaker 2: vice versa who's at lsu that's at old miss this
- 31:14Speaker 2: year like there's so much similarities um and that's why
- 31:18Speaker 2: this that's why there's this build-up to this game it's
- 31:20Speaker 2: not just i mean it's you know 98 percent lane
- 31:24Speaker 2: and then The rest of it is everybody else, too,
- 31:27Speaker 2: because it's so much familiarity. The chess mess I'll be
- 31:33Speaker 2: watching is certainly both defenses versus... Because Lane is going
- 31:39Speaker 2: to know, nobody's going to know how to beat Lane's
- 31:41Speaker 2: offense more than better than he is, right? Blake Baker
- 31:45Speaker 2: has played against him for multiple years. Lane knows how
- 31:48Speaker 2: to defeat his own offense as well. And he knows
- 31:52Speaker 2: how to combat anything that people are going to throw
- 31:56Speaker 2: at him. I mean, that's, I think he said that
- 31:57Speaker 2: in his opening press conference here at LSU, he's like,
- 32:00Speaker 2: basically I've coached for a long time and I just
- 32:03Speaker 2: like figured out the things we hated to go against
- 32:05Speaker 2: on defense and just started doing those things just over
- 32:08Speaker 2: and over. And over time, it just became the offense
- 32:11Speaker 2: that it is now. Um, but Pete Golden got to
- 32:14Speaker 2: also go against lane for every single day for multiple years. Um,
- 32:19Speaker 2: so yeah, The offense that they run is similar to
- 32:22Speaker 2: what Lane does. So Lane's going to know how to
- 32:24Speaker 2: defeat it or defend it at least. I'm not sure
- 32:27Speaker 2: how much say he's going to have, but I'm sure
- 32:30Speaker 2: there is going to be a decent amount of input
- 32:32Speaker 2: that he'll have towards Blake Baker and his staff. How
- 32:37Speaker 2: I would defend it if I'm Pete Golding defending us
- 32:40Speaker 2: and how if I'm Blake Baker defending them. That kind
- 32:44Speaker 2: of remains to be seen for me. I'm still watching
- 32:46Speaker 2: a decent amount of film. There's a lot of things
- 32:47Speaker 2: you do. Obviously, Louisiana Tech did things to LSU that
- 32:51Speaker 2: gave them troubles. It wasn't just like physically getting beat.
- 32:56Speaker 2: It was alignment issues. It was assignment issues. It was
- 33:00Speaker 2: identification problems with the three down fronts and moving around
- 33:03Speaker 2: and things like that. So I would assume that we
- 33:08Speaker 2: are going to see at least some of that this week.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Some of some odd front stuff. Now, it's hard to
- 33:14Speaker 2: install a full defense that is all odd front. But
- 33:18Speaker 2: Louisiana Tech didn't do that either. I mean, they had
- 33:20Speaker 2: a decent amount of regular four down front looks. Their
- 33:24Speaker 2: base is 3-3-5. I would assume Blake Baker is going
- 33:28Speaker 2: to be very similar to what he's been doing. I mean,
- 33:29Speaker 2: this is a defense that he's been building and wanting
- 33:32Speaker 2: to implement. probably since he's been here, just really has
- 33:35Speaker 2: not had all the pieces in place like he does
- 33:37Speaker 2: right now.
- 33:38Speaker 4: How much practicing against that tempo every single day now
- 33:42Speaker 4: benefits a Blake Baker?
- 33:43Speaker 2: Because last year when that matchup was happening, that's what
- 33:46Speaker 2: we talked.
- 33:47Speaker 4: About because Blake was bringing exotic looks and he's bringing
- 33:50Speaker 4: multiple people from multiple places. And then he didn't in
- 33:54Speaker 4: the Ole Miss game because you got to play a
- 33:55Speaker 4: little bit more straight up because of the speed of it.
- 33:58Speaker 4: You can do some things, you can't do all of it,
- 33:59Speaker 4: but He has now seen that tempo every single day
- 34:03Speaker 4: in practice. I have to imagine that that has helped
- 34:06Speaker 4: him get ready for this game.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and I can tell you, like, this is coming
- 34:10Speaker 2: from a guy. I'm not just a guy. I'm a
- 34:12Speaker 2: guy that ran many years of scout team quarterback, okay?
- 34:15Speaker 2: So I'm not just some guy telling you this. Like,
- 34:18Speaker 2: when you run scout team, so if your offense isn't
- 34:21Speaker 2: running fast and up-tempo like that, the defense doesn't get
- 34:24Speaker 2: to see it, right? But during the game week leading
- 34:28Speaker 2: up to, let's just, so a year ago, Blake Baker
- 34:31Speaker 2: and his defensive staff getting ready to go and play
- 34:34Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin, trying to get ready and prepared for that
- 34:39Speaker 2: tempo that they're going to run. It's not going to
- 34:41Speaker 2: come from the LSU starting offense because that's not their offense.
- 34:44Speaker 2: It doesn't help them in practice. So it's going to
- 34:47Speaker 2: come in scout team. Now, two things probably happened in
- 34:51Speaker 2: that scout team. And just to kind of like paint
- 34:54Speaker 2: the picture of how– you know, normal scout team works,
- 34:57Speaker 2: you're going to wear a different colored jersey. So they'll
- 34:59Speaker 2: be wearing red or they'll be wearing blue this week
- 35:02Speaker 2: or whatever. Clemson week, they were all probably wearing orange.
- 35:06Speaker 2: And then you're going to go out there and the
- 35:09Speaker 2: offensive GAs, I mean, they got a billion coaches. So
- 35:11Speaker 2: all the coaches are going to go out there and
- 35:13Speaker 2: they're going to have cards and the offense is going
- 35:14Speaker 2: to come and huddle up and they're going to, you're
- 35:16Speaker 2: going to have one coach that's going to present this
- 35:18Speaker 2: card to you. It's going to tell everybody what formation
- 35:21Speaker 2: to line up It's going to tell everybody what play
- 35:23Speaker 2: to run. This is the protection we're doing. Maybe it's
- 35:25Speaker 2: a pass play. All right, just block it like you're
- 35:27Speaker 2: a two-jet. Or I want this five-man slide because this
- 35:30Speaker 2: is what they do. Before the week starts, they're going
- 35:33Speaker 2: to tell the quarterback, this is their snap count. I
- 35:35Speaker 2: want this snap count at practice. So you're calling a
- 35:38Speaker 2: snap count that is not normally yours. And so every play,
- 35:42Speaker 2: you're going to do it, and you're going to run
- 35:44Speaker 2: the play. And then you're going to run back to
- 35:45Speaker 2: the huddle, and you can do quickly. They've got to
- 35:48Speaker 2: show you another card. You go run a play, they
- 35:50Speaker 2: come back, they show you another card. So even in practice,
- 35:53Speaker 2: there's only so much speed you can get. Cause you
- 35:55Speaker 2: got to show them the cards. Now I have been
- 35:58Speaker 2: in situations as a scout team quarterback where they're like,
- 36:00Speaker 2: all right, just go two minutes. So we don't have
- 36:03Speaker 2: to come back and huddle. Let's just go two minutes.
- 36:05Speaker 2: You call the plays, get out there. But even in
- 36:08Speaker 2: that it's so vanilla and basic because sometimes you got
- 36:11Speaker 2: a third string defensive back as your third receiver. Yeah. Like,
- 36:15Speaker 2: so they don't really know the signal. So if, So
- 36:17Speaker 2: you're running really basic route concepts. So you're getting the speed,
- 36:21Speaker 2: but you're not getting the details in the pass and
- 36:24Speaker 2: the play concept. So there's no way to simulate it
- 36:27Speaker 2: even close to what now Blake Baker and his defense
- 36:32Speaker 2: have seen every single day, all spring, all summer, all
- 36:35Speaker 2: training camp. They see it probably only a couple periods
- 36:39Speaker 2: a week now. Yeah. now that the season's starting, because
- 36:42Speaker 2: I think good versus good is only going to happen
- 36:44Speaker 2: for probably maybe one period a day, like a special situation,
- 36:47Speaker 2: like a third-down blitz situation or a red zone period.
- 36:50Speaker 2: That's the only really time you'll go good versus good.
- 36:54Speaker 2: But they are so much more prepared this year than
- 36:56Speaker 2: they were last year, just because the– They played well
- 36:59Speaker 2: last year.
- 37:00Speaker 4: I mean, I think it was one of the lowest,
- 37:02Speaker 4: if not the lowest, point total Ole Miss had offensively.
- 37:06Speaker 2: It's impossible to duplicate, replicate. You can try.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:10Speaker 2: And you can get close-ish, but still you can't replicate
- 37:13Speaker 2: that speed. And so the communication that has to happen,
- 37:16Speaker 2: how fast it has to happen. But look, they're going
- 37:19Speaker 2: to be so much more prepared this year than they
- 37:21Speaker 2: were last year just because it's impossible to prepare for that.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm wondering what's going to be the main focus,
- 37:27Speaker 4: the point of emphasis for LSU's defense. And you can
- 37:31Speaker 4: be like, well, let's just stop Trinidad Chambliss. Okay, but yeah,
- 37:34Speaker 4: in what portion, like what phase of his– of his
- 37:37Speaker 4: game are you going to make sure? Is it going
- 37:39Speaker 4: to be his running ability and keep him inside the pocket,
- 37:41Speaker 4: not allow him to get outside the pocket? Because in
- 37:44Speaker 4: that Sugar Bowl, he was running all over the place,
- 37:47Speaker 4: and Georgia never contained him. Their edge rushers just lost contain,
- 37:51Speaker 4: and he ran around and made plays. Now Miami did
- 37:53Speaker 4: a better job of it, and their edge rushers and
- 37:57Speaker 4: their rush ins, they kind of got to that spot
- 38:00Speaker 4: that we're talking about, and they didn't just keep on running,
- 38:02Speaker 4: and they would track back and try to keep him
- 38:04Speaker 4: inside the pocket. So I wonder what the main focus
- 38:07Speaker 4: is going to be for this coaching staff this week
- 38:10Speaker 4: when it comes to Trent at Chambliss.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think Blake's probably going to change too
- 38:15Speaker 2: much about his style of play because it's working so well, obviously.
- 38:18Speaker 2: There's going to be a lot of simulated pressures. There's
- 38:20Speaker 2: going to be a lot of linebackers scraping around, a
- 38:22Speaker 2: lot of twists and turns. And so when you simulate
- 38:24Speaker 2: a pressure and you drop an end, you're kind of
- 38:27Speaker 2: taking away that side of the field for him to
- 38:29Speaker 2: scramble to. So it works on so many different levels.
- 38:33Speaker 2: And And Ty Benefield, Marcus Cooley, those guys are going
- 38:37Speaker 2: to have to have a day. They're going to have
- 38:39Speaker 2: to have a day if you want to have anywhere
- 38:41Speaker 2: close to the success that you've already had leading up
- 38:44Speaker 2: to this game on defense. And look, watching this game,
- 38:48Speaker 2: LSU fans, I mean, Ole Miss is going to get there. So,
- 38:50Speaker 2: I mean, they're going to punch. They're going to punch.
- 38:52Speaker 2: It's how do you counterpunch? Can you punch back? Can
- 38:54Speaker 2: you punch harder? I think LSU will. And I just–
- 38:59Speaker 2: the linebacker tandem, the safety tandem, I think it's all–
- 39:03Speaker 2: The defense is really good. I mean, we're going to
- 39:06Speaker 2: see just how good they are. But from what we've seen,
- 39:08Speaker 2: they're borderline great at this point during the season. Actually,
- 39:12Speaker 2: they are great to this point in the season. I'm
- 39:14Speaker 2: not saying they're going to be great. This is sustainable.
- 39:17Speaker 2: I got no idea, but this is going to be
- 39:18Speaker 2: a great test for them this weekend.
- 39:20Speaker 4: All right, so when we come back, I'm going to
- 39:22Speaker 4: ask Matt about something he was really, really good at.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Signals. How quick can you get them? How panicky?
- 39:30Speaker 4: Should LSU be about changing their offensive signals up? We'll
- 39:33Speaker 4: talk about that when we come back here on OTB.
- 39:36Speaker 8: Off the bench.

- 41:16Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented
- 41:19Speaker 1: by Community Steel.
- 41:24Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in OTB here on this Tuesday morning. Again,
- 41:29Speaker 4: our Tuesday show is brought to you by our friends
- 41:30Speaker 4: over at Community Steel, communitysteelco.com, right there in Gonzales, Louisiana, buildings, sheeting, components, communitysteelco.com.
- 41:43Speaker 2: All right.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Signal call, signal caller, the stealer of signals. Oh, I
- 41:51Speaker 4: like that.
- 41:51Speaker 2: The stealer of signals. That is your.
- 41:54Speaker 3: It's like a Game of Thrones.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that is your name.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Steal those signals.
- 41:57Speaker 4: You were really good at it. We talked about it
- 42:00Speaker 4: often on this show. This is an offense that goes fast.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Both these offenses go fast. If you're the coaching staff,
- 42:08Speaker 4: let's go here first. And there's coaches on that staff. Now,
- 42:13Speaker 4: you brought your whole offensive staff, but the guy that's
- 42:15Speaker 4: calling plays now, he was in this offense at Ole
- 42:19Speaker 4: Miss before he went to East Carolina.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Are you panicked?
- 42:25Speaker 4: Do you overcorrect? Do you go with the same signals?
- 42:29Speaker 4: How much of the signals do you think change maybe
- 42:32Speaker 4: in this offense? Because, again, it's so fast. There's going
- 42:36Speaker 4: to be some things that have to be probably the
- 42:38Speaker 4: same as where you were a year ago using those,
- 42:43Speaker 4: and you're probably thinking that they have all of them
- 42:46Speaker 4: because we all panic about them having our signals, right?
- 42:49Speaker 4: And we've talked about that throughout our football career. Every
- 42:52Speaker 4: level that we played on, You felt like somebody knew
- 42:54Speaker 4: your signals and you tried to change them up or
- 42:56Speaker 4: hide them.
- 42:57Speaker 2: How much of that plays into this? If there's anything
- 43:00Speaker 2: I know about coaches, football coaches, is they believe that
- 43:03Speaker 2: they're always in the middle of the Cold War. And
- 43:06Speaker 2: so they are always watching film. They're always watching game tape.
- 43:10Speaker 2: And they are always changing signals. Yeah, you do go back.
- 43:13Speaker 2: You can have some basic stuff. But I think coaches
- 43:19Speaker 2: are pretty paranoid.
- 43:19Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 43:20Speaker 2: That people are always going to have their signals. And certainly,
- 43:23Speaker 2: there's so much familiarity with these staffs. Yeah, they're going
- 43:26Speaker 2: to change their signals. They should. If they don't, they're dumb.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Because they're going to have people like me on the
- 43:31Speaker 2: other sideline ripping the signals. That's one of the advantages
- 43:36Speaker 2: of getting to the line of scrimmage so fast, and
- 43:38Speaker 2: we've talked about it, is because the offensive coordinator can
- 43:41Speaker 2: talk to you until 15 seconds left. So if you
- 43:43Speaker 2: get to the play clock with 15 seconds, you line
- 43:45Speaker 2: up and you shift. And sometimes the defense has to signal.
- 43:49Speaker 2: So if you wind up in a bunch formation with
- 43:52Speaker 2: a running back to the right and a shotgun formation,
- 43:54Speaker 2: then all of a sudden you shift and explode out
- 43:55Speaker 2: to a four, like a two by two spread situation.
- 43:59Speaker 2: You move the back, the running back to the left
- 44:01Speaker 2: side of the quarterback. It changes everything. They have to
- 44:04Speaker 2: communicate with each other.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:05Speaker 2: And sometimes you do that to try to get clues.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Maybe it's hand signals. Maybe it's body language. Maybe it's
- 44:12Speaker 2: the way they speak to each other. Maybe it's who's
- 44:14Speaker 2: speaking to each other. If it's the, Middle linebacker to
- 44:18Speaker 2: the nickel out, maybe it's a pressure. Maybe they're trying
- 44:21Speaker 2: to pressure. If it's the nickel to the cornerback, maybe
- 44:24Speaker 2: it's man-to-man. They're trying to figure out, are we going
- 44:25Speaker 2: to in and out this? How are we going to
- 44:26Speaker 2: sort this out? You watch body language. You watch the communication,
- 44:30Speaker 2: who's communicating, how they're communicating. And then, of course, the
- 44:33Speaker 2: tell-all would be the hand signals. So if they start
- 44:35Speaker 2: doing hand signals, both sides are going to have people
- 44:38Speaker 2: like me sitting there stealing those signals. And then if
- 44:42Speaker 2: you get the line of scrimmage fast enough and you
- 44:45Speaker 2: trust the signal stealer, That person communicates to the offensive coordinator,
- 44:51Speaker 2: and guess who the offensive coordinator can communicate with until
- 44:53Speaker 2: 15 seconds left on the clock? The quarterback. They can
- 44:55Speaker 2: communicate to the quarterback. So if you have the mechanics
- 45:00Speaker 2: of all that ironed out and you trust everybody within
- 45:03Speaker 2: that process, it's very, very advantageous. So, yeah, I think
- 45:08Speaker 2: these coaches are going to change signals. Yeah, and look.
- 45:11Speaker 2: And have multiple signals for the same thing.
- 45:13Speaker 4: And Pete Golding and Ole Miss, they're going to run
- 45:15Speaker 4: cover three, they're going to run quarters, and a little
- 45:17Speaker 4: bit of quarter-quarter hats. Like, that's who they are. But,
- 45:20Speaker 4: you know, there's different ways to disguise it. There's different
- 45:22Speaker 4: ways to get there. Just the same way for LSU
- 45:26Speaker 4: and offensively and what they want to do. They're going
- 45:28Speaker 4: to run the same plays, but it's how do you
- 45:29Speaker 4: signal it in, how do you line up in it,
- 45:31Speaker 4: how do you explode to it, like Matt was talking about.
- 45:33Speaker 2: I heard a great question in the chat here, too,
- 45:35Speaker 2: and we'll have to get to it on the other side.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Other side. The capital city. Radio Pro. OTB.
- 45:42Speaker 7: Off the bench.
- 45:43Speaker 4: Your mind's pretty sharp, buddy. You just teased the segment.
- 45:48Speaker 4: I wonder what you did different.
- 45:50Speaker 2: I know what I did different. Go to rejuvemedical.com. Bingo.
- 45:54Speaker 4: There was 13 locations across Louisiana, one in Mississippi. Which
- 45:57Speaker 4: one did you go to, Bo?
- 45:58Speaker 2: The one closest to my house. Don't give away your address.
- 46:04Speaker 2: I mean... I mean, there's so many locations.
- 46:06Speaker 4: There is.
- 46:06Speaker 2: And they're all awesome. So, like, I just go to
- 46:08Speaker 2: the most one convenient.
- 46:09Speaker 4: I go to the same one you do. I think
- 46:10Speaker 4: Alondra actually does, too. Funny enough, we all go to
- 46:12Speaker 4: the same one, but you don't have to. There's 12
- 46:14Speaker 4: other ones if you want to. Go to rejuvenemedical.com. Flynn
- 46:17Speaker 4: got on a path for success. A little brain fog? Well,
- 46:20Speaker 4: that's something they can help you with.
- 46:21Speaker 2: See you. See you later. Yeah, we got peptide therapy.
- 46:25Speaker 2: You got hormone replacement therapy. There's so many things that
- 46:27Speaker 2: you can do over there at Rejuvenated Medical. They're great locations.
- 46:31Speaker 2: They got a great staff. A medically... A medical staff
- 46:33Speaker 2: that's going to do everything the right way. They're going
- 46:35Speaker 2: to do everything with the blood work. They're going to
- 46:36Speaker 2: do everything safely and in the right levels. They're going
- 46:38Speaker 2: to take care of you. Get feeling better. Get feeling younger.
