- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, what up, boxing fans. This is the rope a
- 0:04Speaker 1: Dope Radio podcast. I'm your host, Chris Carlson. We are
- 0:09Speaker 1: live on a Wednesday afternoon. I hope everybody's doing okay.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Got a lot of feedback from the last two or
- 0:19Speaker 1: three episodes, but especially from this last one. I was
- 0:22Speaker 1: gonna do a show last week, but I decided, you know,
- 0:25Speaker 1: I keep getting feedback from it, and there just wasn't
- 0:31Speaker 1: a whole lot going on at the time. Anyway, It's
- 0:33Speaker 1: the end of the summer, you know, more Labor Day weekend,
- 0:38Speaker 1: not Memorial Day, Labor Day weekend, and I figure, why
- 0:43Speaker 1: not just you know, why not just go another little
- 0:48Speaker 1: bit without a show and let it kind of have
- 0:50Speaker 1: its own legs. So I will follow up minor le
- 0:53Speaker 1: on some of the stuff, but I'm not going to
- 0:55Speaker 1: spend much time in it. That'll be at the end
- 0:58Speaker 1: of the show. Definitely gonna preview and predict Iglesias and Shishkin.
- 1:07Speaker 1: There are other fights that'll kind of go over and
- 1:12Speaker 1: fight cards. There is some action this weekend. It's been
- 1:15Speaker 1: you know, July was really good. This summer has been
- 1:18Speaker 1: kind of funky, though, you know, it's been a very
- 1:21Speaker 1: slow summer. If you flash back fifteen years ago, summer
- 1:29Speaker 1: would have some big fights, no doubt, but they'd also
- 1:31Speaker 1: have stretches where HBO or showtime having like the Marquee,
- 1:37Speaker 1: you know, fights there would be few and far between.
- 1:41Speaker 1: At times, we've been spoiled by the schedule, you know.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Sometimes when there's multiple fights that you have interest, you
- 1:52Speaker 1: wish they could spread it out more. Sometimes the schedule
- 1:55Speaker 1: just they just can't. But it has been like it
- 2:00Speaker 1: has been like there's no doubt about it. We do
- 2:03Speaker 1: have some fights on the fall schedule, obviously coming out
- 2:09Speaker 1: not this weekend, but next weekend. We got a major fight,
- 2:13Speaker 1: right and since the last show, we now know Jervonte
- 2:18Speaker 1: Davis is back not fighting Lamont roached up, so that
- 2:25Speaker 1: that has been seen as an issue, and just the
- 2:30Speaker 1: Jake Paul cash out. You know, I think that Gervonte
- 2:38Speaker 1: kind of said he's in, you know, retirement mode, and
- 2:41Speaker 1: this would kind of line up with that. If we
- 2:44Speaker 1: knew he was going to fight Shakur after this or
- 2:48Speaker 1: something like that, it'd be different. But a lot of people,
- 2:52Speaker 1: you know, are kind of feeling a certain way. We'll
- 2:55Speaker 1: also talk about some fights being discussed in Toxic or finalized.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You know, we now know the Fandora Thurman is a
- 3:06Speaker 1: real thing. Kind of knew it was already, but now
- 3:09Speaker 1: it's official. So we'll talk about that. We'll talk about
- 3:13Speaker 1: an interesting fight that I really hope gets signed. And then,
- 3:19Speaker 1: like I said, a little bit of follow up from
- 3:22Speaker 1: last week when we were talking about and we've been
- 3:26Speaker 1: talking about, you know, I've been calling it to ALIAC
- 3:28Speaker 1: two point zero and a variety of stuff having to
- 3:32Speaker 1: deal with t k O, you know, the UFC, CBS
- 3:36Speaker 1: paramount deal and and just just a variety of stuff. Someone,
- 3:41Speaker 1: well more than one person actually was talking about that
- 3:45Speaker 1: I shouldn't get political. I remember a few years ago,
- 3:53Speaker 1: John and I discussed you know, climate change really quick
- 3:58Speaker 1: because I was swimming in Minnesota, like in early October
- 4:04Speaker 1: and have the last couple of years, which is like
- 4:08Speaker 1: never happened in my lifetime. So yeah, one time I did.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But when we talk about getting political when it comes
- 4:15Speaker 1: to this ali Act, that's a different story because you know,
- 4:21Speaker 1: it has to pass through the halls of Congress, so
- 4:24Speaker 1: of course you're gonna talk politics. So we'll get into that.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Like I said at the end of the show, I
- 4:32Speaker 1: am looking forward to Iglesias stepping up to Shishkin. I
- 4:37Speaker 1: think it is a real, really real, like true step
- 4:41Speaker 1: up fight. And you know, as far as the fights
- 4:46Speaker 1: that have been taking place lately, I'm not gonna, you know,
- 4:50Speaker 1: have a deep dive recap into that stuff. I've watched
- 4:54Speaker 1: some fights, I've seen some highlight clips and stuff like that,
- 5:00Speaker 1: but I will say this summer has been kind of
- 5:02Speaker 1: more instead of watching full cards, you just kind of
- 5:06Speaker 1: pick and choose which fight you want to watch. And
- 5:09Speaker 1: I guess you could say you do that anyway, but
- 5:11Speaker 1: I have noticed of late, whether it's watching an eight
- 5:16Speaker 1: minute highlight of a fight just to see how it went,
- 5:20Speaker 1: or watching the full fight, or just you know, scroll
- 5:24Speaker 1: on Twitter boom you see a highlight reel punch or
- 5:28Speaker 1: something like that. So I'm not going to go into
- 5:30Speaker 1: too much recap. It's midweek. The fight I'm talking about
- 5:34Speaker 1: is tomorrow night, so that that's kind of where I'm
- 5:38Speaker 1: at on this episode. I don't have a lot of time,
- 5:43Speaker 1: So yeah, Oscar Valdez and Michael Tonlin, a couple other
- 5:51Speaker 1: fights that we'll just discuss and talk about. But if
- 5:56Speaker 1: this is your first time listening to the Ropeodope Radio podcast. Welcome,
- 6:00Speaker 1: of course the rope Itope Radio. The real Ropeodope Radio
- 6:03Speaker 1: started with boxing and it has expanded to football. So
- 6:08Speaker 1: the College Ball Show, if you've been noticing, is popping
- 6:11Speaker 1: up on the screen. You know, we preview and predict.
- 6:15Speaker 1: We talk betting odds against the spread. If you have
- 6:18Speaker 1: any interest in that, check it out. If not, that's
- 6:20Speaker 1: cool too. But you can find this here. Boxing Ropeodope

- 6:36Speaker 1: While you're at it, head on Overtubic, Ruling, Truth dot Com,
- 6:39Speaker 1: philmboxing in east Side Boxing. One more thing from direct TV.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Streaming starts at forty nine ninety nine for the first month,
- 6:48Speaker 1: and you can try that five day free trial whether
- 6:52Speaker 1: you're streaming on the go with your smartphone or watching
- 6:56Speaker 1: with your smart TV. DirecTV gives you the access to
- 6:59Speaker 1: the entertainment you want, when you want it, wherever you
- 7:03Speaker 1: want it. Like I said, that Entertainment package ninety nine
- 7:08Speaker 1: for the first month. It includes ESPN FS one among
- 7:15Speaker 1: other over ninety channels. The choice package is fifty four
- 7:19Speaker 1: to ninety nine for the first month. That includes ESPN
- 7:23Speaker 1: Fan duel and the SEC network in the NFL network.
- 7:27Speaker 1: And then of course the ultimate package includes over one
- 7:31Speaker 1: hundred and sixty channels eighty four ninety nine per month. Okay,
- 7:37Speaker 1: so there are you know, some fights going on this weekend,
- 7:45Speaker 1: no doubt about it. And funny enough in this world
- 7:49Speaker 1: of you know, platforms having multiple well I think there
- 7:57Speaker 1: was four or five kind of you know, smaller cards
- 8:04Speaker 1: not long ago, like two weekends ago on his own
- 8:07Speaker 1: at least four, you know, from let's say Thursday to Saturday.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And this card, as far as in the US anyway,
- 8:16Speaker 1: has not found a home on any kind of streaming
- 8:20Speaker 1: service or you know, hopefully it doesn't end up on
- 8:23Speaker 1: a on like hey, paid thirty bucks or a pay
- 8:26Speaker 1: per view or something like that. So we'll see, you know,
- 8:34Speaker 1: you know, But Ostley's Iglecias versus Vladimir Shishkin. You know,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I obviously Shishkin only has that one loss to William Skull.
- 8:53Speaker 1: It was about eleven months ago, give or take, because
- 8:59Speaker 1: I remember it was in October last year, so he
- 9:02Speaker 1: hasn't fought since then. So that's that's obviously, you know,
- 9:08Speaker 1: not ideal, but he lost to Williams Skull, who you know,
- 9:13Speaker 1: stunk up the joint over there in Sadi and put
- 9:17Speaker 1: on a really bad display. And hey, Canelo didn't do
- 9:20Speaker 1: a whole lot either. I would definitely put it on
- 9:23Speaker 1: Skull more than Canelo. But it is kind of funny
- 9:26Speaker 1: that Shishkin landed more punches. I believe, I I believe
- 9:32Speaker 1: so he landed more punches than Canelo did. But you know,
- 9:37Speaker 1: clearly Skull was you know, in defensive mode even more,
- 9:43Speaker 1: you know what I mean really, and you know I
- 9:46Speaker 1: talked about the a bit of a layoff coming off
- 9:51Speaker 1: his loss. Iglesias hasn't fought since like last November. I
- 9:57Speaker 1: believe maybe it was December. I think it was November.
- 10:00Speaker 1: So that's not an ideal either, and it's you know,
- 10:09Speaker 1: I Iglesias is kind of like Unsigned Pipe, you know,
- 10:16Speaker 1: for those who know no that segment, that part of
- 10:20Speaker 1: the source magazine Unsigned Hype. You would think with so
- 10:26Speaker 1: many platform deals, while they are starting to shrink, as
- 10:30Speaker 1: we know, we don't really know where top rank is yet.
- 10:33Speaker 1: We've heard some stars rumors, We've heard a variety of
- 10:36Speaker 1: rumors when it comes to top rank, but Iglesias is
- 10:41Speaker 1: not signed by one of the major managers or promoters.
- 10:48Speaker 1: You know, he's he's fought on cards with Top Rank
- 10:52Speaker 1: and Loudabella and you know, names that you can recognize,
- 10:55Speaker 1: even the you know who he's fighting under in this card,
- 11:00Speaker 1: but he's not signed to one of the big you know,
- 11:05Speaker 1: platforms or you know whatever you want to call promoters.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So it is kind of a head scratcher hence him
- 11:14Speaker 1: not even though he's very still young in his career,
- 11:18Speaker 1: you know, like I the Tiger is I believe I
- 11:22Speaker 1: the Tigers the is the the one up in Quebec
- 11:25Speaker 1: here promoting this because this isn't Quetebec Montre what col
- 11:31Speaker 1: Colbeck am I saying that? And so that that kind
- 11:39Speaker 1: of just it's it's just kind of funky, you know
- 11:45Speaker 1: that it that he hasn't been signed or partially signed,
- 11:50Speaker 1: you know, uh some maybe with a small promoter and
- 11:54Speaker 1: then like a he's signed with two promoters kind of
- 11:56Speaker 1: like Zaneford does and other promoters do. But but it
- 12:01Speaker 1: is what it is lately, you know. Basically the thing
- 12:06Speaker 1: is it's like in twenty twenty three, there's like this
- 12:14Speaker 1: this I think he only fought once. There's this gap
- 12:18Speaker 1: and so he fought a bunch in twenty twenty two
- 12:22Speaker 1: fought you know, I believe it's three or four. I
- 12:25Speaker 1: think it's four times. Actually I should just double check here.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I think it's four times. Maybe last year so he
- 12:32Speaker 1: was active and it was now that I'm on a
- 12:35Speaker 1: box wreck it was, but now it's been, you know,
- 12:39Speaker 1: since last November. Chilimba Isaac Chilimba's definitely like the most
- 12:46Speaker 1: known fighter or most experienced fighter that he's fought, uh Spidenko.
- 12:51Speaker 1: He took care of really quick like and so recently,
- 12:56Speaker 1: like last year, he only fought like in the last
- 13:00Speaker 1: four fights, I think it was nine rounds or something
- 13:03Speaker 1: like that, and not even obviously full rounds if you
- 13:06Speaker 1: score a knockout. But I but I think this well,
- 13:11Speaker 1: now I think it does. You know, it does like
- 13:15Speaker 1: register Hichikin is it represents his best opponent on paper
- 13:21Speaker 1: and so it's a real test and so it's it's
- 13:24Speaker 1: it's definitely a step up, which you know, he's got
- 13:28Speaker 1: a lot of talent. He's a rising your prospect at
- 13:31Speaker 1: sixty eight sixty eight, maybe he isn't as deep as
- 13:37Speaker 1: it was in the last couple of years. It was
- 13:41Speaker 1: always kind of top heavy, but it was there's just
- 13:44Speaker 1: more people in it that kind of interests you. But
- 13:48Speaker 1: and I would say, you know, maybe more people move
- 13:50Speaker 1: up from one to sixty, but when sixty is kind
- 13:53Speaker 1: of a dead zone or not kind of it is anyway,
- 13:58Speaker 1: Bustle's a you know, I like his jab. I think
- 14:02Speaker 1: it's pretty solid fights out of that south past stance.
- 14:09Speaker 1: He's got good handspeed, I think, uh, I think he's
- 14:12Speaker 1: got pretty good timing. You can tell he's really like relaxed.
- 14:17Speaker 1: He's comfortable in there, I will say, sometimes a little
- 14:21Speaker 1: too comfortable. And recently you kind of seen some of
- 14:27Speaker 1: these fights where and you see this with with prospects,
- 14:30Speaker 1: especially when you're knocking people out because all all but
- 14:34Speaker 1: one of them have gone the distance. You know, sometimes
- 14:38Speaker 1: you see like his his guard that's usually a little higher,
- 14:42Speaker 1: start to fall and stuff like that. You know, he
- 14:47Speaker 1: throws these hooks, these kind of clubbing hooks that they
- 14:55Speaker 1: land in a you know, in a delicate spot, let's
- 14:58Speaker 1: say legal, but delicate. He has, you know, like his
- 15:06Speaker 1: upper body movement, like he's got a good guard if
- 15:09Speaker 1: he keeps it there. But his upper body movement and
- 15:14Speaker 1: head movement and just in general his footwork. He's got
- 15:17Speaker 1: a really wide stance. His footwork. It's just not that
- 15:21Speaker 1: it's pretty mediocre, you know what I mean, it's it's
- 15:24Speaker 1: not that great. And at times, and like I said,
- 15:30Speaker 1: this happens with prospects when they knock people out. He
- 15:35Speaker 1: can get a little careless in there, you know. But
- 15:41Speaker 1: so yeah, I think I think he's starting to rely
- 15:44Speaker 1: on his power a little too much because he's got
- 15:48Speaker 1: a good job. And another thing I have noticed along
- 15:52Speaker 1: with the clubbing, like hooks, he has them. The upper
- 15:56Speaker 1: cut more lately seems to be in some but he
- 16:04Speaker 1: just targets. He doesn't target the body enough, in my opinion,
- 16:09Speaker 1: and you might as well start here. Not to say
- 16:11Speaker 1: that he's never body punched, but he does, like I said,
- 16:15Speaker 1: kind of fall in love with his power, looking for
- 16:19Speaker 1: the big shot rather than setting up shots beyond the
- 16:23Speaker 1: jab and and you know, attack the body. I think
- 16:28Speaker 1: that because you can see sometimes especially against Shishkin, Shishkin
- 16:34Speaker 1: has an upright style. He likes to fight kind of
- 16:38Speaker 1: in that in between range where I think he can
- 16:46Speaker 1: do some of that. But I do think he's gonna
- 16:48Speaker 1: have to be aggressive. But he's he's a lot more tense,
- 16:51Speaker 1: you know, and he's a lot more like I don't know,
- 16:55Speaker 1: I'm not saying he's nervous, but he he needs Shishkin.
- 17:00Speaker 1: You could you know, you could say he needs to
- 17:02Speaker 1: get a little bit more comfortable in there and relaxed.
- 17:06Speaker 1: But I think that he's gonna have to come forward
- 17:13Speaker 1: in this fight Shishkin, because because when you get Iglesias
- 17:17Speaker 1: on his back foot, I think it's just going to
- 17:20Speaker 1: be a positive for you. You know, his footwork isn't that great.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Like I said, could he still time you with big shots? Sure,
- 17:27Speaker 1: but you know at times he'll have that you know,
- 17:32Speaker 1: stand straight up high guard Shishkin and that's where you
- 17:37Speaker 1: can attack the body. But just in general, Iglesias just
- 17:42Speaker 1: needs to become a better body puncher. And you know,
- 17:47Speaker 1: this is when you really find out about prospects. Maybe
- 17:50Speaker 1: he's a great body puncher and he just hasn't used it.
- 17:53Speaker 1: So I'm not saying he can't. He's not good to
- 17:56Speaker 1: the body, right, It just you know, he it hunts basically,
- 18:01Speaker 1: you know, he looks for his power. So it'll basically
- 18:07Speaker 1: be how much time does Shishkin spend at that in
- 18:12Speaker 1: between range that mid range. But at some point he's
- 18:16Speaker 1: gonna have to get inside and he's gonna have to
- 18:19Speaker 1: work the body. He's gonna have to kind of rough
- 18:21Speaker 1: him up a little bit so and push him back,
- 18:27Speaker 1: you know, push him back. And you know, if you
- 18:32Speaker 1: think that Iglesias, you know, is a little green in
- 18:37Speaker 1: this fight, and that you know, Shishkin does have a
- 18:42Speaker 1: pharao amount more experience, especially as the fights go on
- 18:46Speaker 1: later in the fight, if it in fact gets there,
- 18:49Speaker 1: I mean, let's be honest, it might not get there.
- 18:52Speaker 1: But if you think that, hey man, you know this
- 18:55Speaker 1: is this is kind of a too big of a
- 18:58Speaker 1: step up. You can get Shishkin for like plus five forty,
- 19:03Speaker 1: plus five fifty upwards of plus six hundred. And I
- 19:09Speaker 1: think that Iglesias is gonna win this fight, right, That's
- 19:14Speaker 1: not really He's a clean favorite. So I'm not stepping
- 19:17Speaker 1: way out on there. But I gotta admit, like, if
- 19:21Speaker 1: you look at just looking at one website, right, Iglesias
- 19:25Speaker 1: by Ko minus three p thirty, So you're not gonna
- 19:29Speaker 1: make a lot of money on that, right, then he's
- 19:31Speaker 1: even a bigger just picking him straight up. Now, if
- 19:35Speaker 1: you think this could maybe go the distance like it's
- 19:39Speaker 1: got a decent chance, which I think it does have
- 19:41Speaker 1: a good chance to go the distance. Iglesia's by decision
- 19:48Speaker 1: is is plus two ninety five. And like I said,
- 19:51Speaker 1: if I don't see Shishkin knocking Iglesias out, So if
- 19:55Speaker 1: you think this is too big of a step, you
- 19:58Speaker 1: can take that underdog money and maybe he we'll catch
- 20:00Speaker 1: them with something but something to look at as well
- 20:04Speaker 1: as Shishkin, and then you you could even put less
- 20:08Speaker 1: on it. If you're putting five seventy or plus five
- 20:10Speaker 1: fifty five seventy plus six hundred, you know you don't
- 20:13Speaker 1: have to put as much on it, right, but if
- 20:17Speaker 1: you if you think this could go the distance, you know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: plus ten fifty for Shishkin by decision, and like I said,
- 20:27Speaker 1: or you can you know there's a number. You know
- 20:29Speaker 1: how they say will this fight go the distance? You
- 20:32Speaker 1: know that type of thing, and it's a yes or
- 20:35Speaker 1: no question. You know obviously the the yes is going
- 20:41Speaker 1: to be you know, a big, a nice plus number.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I gotta admit, like I'm a little wishy washy on
- 20:50Speaker 1: on if I think the fight's going to go the distance,
- 20:55Speaker 1: and even if it doesn't, I just want the Glaciers
- 20:59Speaker 1: to get good rounds. So maybe it's eight or nine
- 21:04Speaker 1: tough rounds and he gets tested and he may show
- 21:08Speaker 1: a little bit of a weakness, but then he comes
- 21:10Speaker 1: out and ends up scoring the knockout. So I am
- 21:14Speaker 1: gonna I'm gonna say it at least goes mid rounds.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I think it'll go. If it's stoppage. I think it'll
- 21:19Speaker 1: be in the back part of the fight. And you know,
- 21:23Speaker 1: I may have to put something just in case on
- 21:29Speaker 1: the decision because it's such a nice plus number either way.
- 21:36Speaker 1: And I don't know. I mean, I haven't made a
- 21:40Speaker 1: bet yet. The fight is tomorrow, by the way, so
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know it won't get much attention. You know, NFL
- 21:51Speaker 1: is back in town tomorrow night and on Friday night
- 21:55Speaker 1: as well. They're taking over every week of the or
- 21:59Speaker 1: every day of the week. But I have a Glaciers winning.
- 22:01Speaker 1: No big crazy thing there. But I think it's gonna
- 22:06Speaker 1: be tougher fight than that I've heard some folks talk about,
- 22:12Speaker 1: so I believe it will be a little bit tougher.
- 22:16Speaker 1: It's got a good chance to go in the distance.
- 22:18Speaker 1: But I got a Glacier is either late stoppage or
- 22:22Speaker 1: distance fight. Like I said, I am hoping that it
- 22:27Speaker 1: you know, it gives them something to think about it,
- 22:32Speaker 1: and I hope something. I just hope there's a way
- 22:35Speaker 1: to watch it live. But like some other stuff, you
- 22:39Speaker 1: know that it's just not available or it's on pay
- 22:43Speaker 1: per view. I don't I'm not out here condoning, hey,
- 22:47Speaker 1: telling people to steal the fight. But after the fight's done,
- 22:53Speaker 1: you know, whether it's Turkey putting it on YouTube or
- 22:57Speaker 1: and not like he'd do it here. But I'm saying
- 22:59Speaker 1: in general, the fights end up on legal platforms, so
- 23:04Speaker 1: you can watch it legally after it's done, you know.
- 23:08Speaker 1: So in that I'm guessing that's probably what will happen.
- 23:13Speaker 1: But who knows. I mean, you never know.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Maybe there will will be something that comes in we
- 23:18Speaker 2: have seen that plenty of times, or someone just picks
- 23:21Speaker 2: it up at the last second, you know, So we'll see.
- 23:27Speaker 1: But yeah, I have a Glaciers win in that fight.
- 23:30Speaker 1: But I think we'll get something, We'll get something out
- 23:34Speaker 1: of it. As I mentioned, Michael Conlin is back against
- 23:40Speaker 1: Jack bateson Charlie Edwards is on that card, Charlie Lopez
- 23:48Speaker 1: and Glenn Bryan. I think it's Brian. That's a that's
- 23:51Speaker 1: like a pick him fight. Last time I checked here.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Let me go to Proboxingodds dot Com real quick, last
- 24:00Speaker 1: time I check. Yeah, Lopez only like a plus one thirty.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Not that I've seen both of those guys fight a
- 24:07Speaker 1: bunch or anything like that, but I have gotten a
- 24:10Speaker 1: messenger to saying, hey, that that might be a good fight,
- 24:13Speaker 1: and it kind of drew my attention checking the odds
- 24:16Speaker 1: and kind of checking out those fighters a little deeper
- 24:18Speaker 1: than I had. What else we got we got, Uh,
- 24:23Speaker 1: Cardoza and Venezuela. Oops, something's up bad. That's a that's
- 24:29Speaker 1: a close fight minus one ten minus one twenty two
- 24:34Speaker 1: h Sigo one a Costa. Uh, that's a close fight.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But Coasta's only plus one twenty two and that's September sixth,
- 24:47Speaker 1: So Sandy Ryan's back. She should win, you know, fairly easy. Uh,
- 24:54Speaker 1: A possible upset upset Troy Williamson and Mark Dickinson. Williamson
- 25:00Speaker 1: is anywhere from like a plus two fifty to like,
- 25:03Speaker 1: I haven't seen a plus three hundred, but I've seen
- 25:05Speaker 1: one close plus two ninety. You know, if I was
- 25:08Speaker 1: gonna pick an upset like a true upset where you know,
- 25:13Speaker 1: it's not like a like that Belswelle Cardoso where it's
- 25:19Speaker 1: it's a pick on. You know, both are minus numbers,
- 25:22Speaker 1: but actually a true upset. Troy Williamson could give him trouble,
- 25:26Speaker 1: could give him some trouble. And there's also a fight
- 25:35Speaker 1: with Eduardo Nunez and Christopher Diez. Now I think Nonaz
- 25:42Speaker 1: is gonna win that fight. I'm not up here trying
- 25:45Speaker 1: to say, you know, he's gonna lose, but Pedro Buvara
- 25:50Speaker 1: and Carell, I think it's Adrian Caroll. To me, that's
- 25:53Speaker 1: a fifty to fifty fight right there. You know that.
- 25:57Speaker 1: To me, that's definitely a fifty to fifty fight. And
- 26:02Speaker 1: you know, I hate to sound like a broken record,
- 26:05Speaker 1: but there's plenty times in these fights that we look
- 26:10Speaker 1: like there's really not much going on this weekend. You
- 26:13Speaker 1: get distracted college football and NFL back, and then all
- 26:16Speaker 1: of a sudden you're like, oh shit, that was a
- 26:18Speaker 1: good fight. And you know Colin's opponent Bates, and you
- 26:25Speaker 1: know he only has one loss that I think he
- 26:27Speaker 1: took a draw in his last fight if I remember correctly,
- 26:30Speaker 1: But it's like Mossad beat him knocked him out. I
- 26:33Speaker 1: think in the was it the let me just check.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I keep saying was it the I think it's eleven
- 26:39Speaker 1: or twelve, but it was the twelfth, So but he
- 26:44Speaker 1: you know, I'm not saying Colin has a ton of
- 26:47Speaker 1: power by any stretch, but you know, if you don't
- 26:51Speaker 1: think he has a ton of power, his opponent doesn't either,
- 26:53Speaker 1: you know. So that's why I think it could be.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I don't know if either of them are gonna hurt
- 26:58Speaker 1: each other enough, but I don't know. I I think
- 27:05Speaker 1: it's gonna be a good fight, competitive fight. But that
- 27:08Speaker 1: Eduardo Nunez card, that'll be on his own. That's match
- 27:14Speaker 1: Room and along with I can't remember the other promoter actually,
- 27:20Speaker 1: but that's gonna be on his own and that'll be
- 27:24Speaker 1: on Saturday. So that could be you know, I mean,
- 27:29Speaker 1: that could be a good card. You know, that could
- 27:32Speaker 1: definitely be a good card. And you know that That's
- 27:37Speaker 1: probably all I'm going to review as far as this
- 27:44Speaker 1: weekend goes. You know, as we know, we got a
- 27:48Speaker 1: huge fight coming up next weekend, at least one of
- 27:56Speaker 1: the fights. I do really like the co feature or
- 28:01Speaker 1: is it a hope it's a co feature? I guess
- 28:03Speaker 1: I haven't checked. I assume it's the co feature, but anyway,
- 28:08Speaker 1: you never know. Like I said, we we might get
- 28:10Speaker 1: some really really good fights, some some of them on paper.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Are you a pretty closely match? So we'll see, we
- 28:22Speaker 1: will see. Let's see here. Okay, So kind of getting
- 28:28Speaker 1: into some fight news since the last time that we
- 28:34Speaker 1: spoke Jervonte Davis. Dervonte Davis is clearly in retirement mode. Now.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I did get a messager two or two or three
- 28:50Speaker 1: about saying, well, you gotta you got a real fighter,
- 28:54Speaker 1: a boxer in his prime or a high level guy
- 28:57Speaker 1: to fight Jake Paul just like you wanted you Because
- 28:59Speaker 1: remember I talked about, hey, if if Canelo wants to
- 29:03Speaker 1: knock his ass out, if Bady Jack, I still think
- 29:07Speaker 1: could beat them. You know, there was talks with Anthony Joshua.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I guess Anthony Joshua and him were in talks, but
- 29:14Speaker 1: Eddie was making a some noise about you know that
- 29:19Speaker 1: Joshua can't fight off his own, which is what should
- 29:23Speaker 1: be wild if they That's what fell apart is he
- 29:26Speaker 1: just couldn't fight out his own because couldn't de zone.
- 29:33Speaker 1: And part of this is the parley into something and
- 29:36Speaker 1: that that's what we're talking about with Canelo. Having Canelo
- 29:40Speaker 1: knock the fuck out of Jake Paul instead of fighting
- 29:43Speaker 1: William's skull. It really wouldn't have been that bad. It
- 29:48Speaker 1: really wouldn't. I understand some of the purious no no,
- 29:51Speaker 1: no great. You know, I'm a purious in many ways
- 29:54Speaker 1: as far as liking all styles, and if a guy
- 29:57Speaker 1: doesn't have power, I can appreciate other things about the
- 30:00Speaker 1: fighter or her him or her. So like Jake Paul
- 30:06Speaker 1: is here, it's like, uh, people saying something about technology.
- 30:13Speaker 1: I hear you, but it's here, dude, you know, so
- 30:16Speaker 1: you might as well cash out and then parlay it
- 30:19Speaker 1: into something bigger. And that's why I think if in fact,
- 30:23Speaker 1: the Zone was stopping Anthony Joshua from fighting off of
- 30:27Speaker 1: the zone, because that's what his contract says. Now that's
- 30:30Speaker 1: what if I said, if, because that's what Eddie Hearn says.
- 30:33Speaker 1: You know, he's signed, you know, he can only fight
- 30:37Speaker 1: on his own, and that's what I guess they were negotiating.
- 30:40Speaker 1: But to not have him go on Netflix and knock
- 30:43Speaker 1: this because I do think, of course, you could say
- 30:46Speaker 1: whatever you want about Anthony Joshua but he knocks Jake
- 30:50Speaker 1: Paul the fuck out easy. It's not even a good fight,
- 30:54Speaker 1: But he could parlay that into a Tyson Very fight
- 30:58Speaker 1: or whatever. Not that I mean, it's superior fight, could
- 31:00Speaker 1: happen either way. But why wouldn't you, Why wouldn't you
- 31:05Speaker 1: wouldn't that help his own pay per view? That's where
- 31:10Speaker 1: I'm kind of scratching my head. And it's not like
- 31:14Speaker 1: Dravontae Davis is signed exclusively with Amazon, you know, obviously
- 31:22Speaker 1: because look at he's fighting on Netflix. But so I
- 31:27Speaker 1: talked about Canelo or Anthony Joshua or whatever usik, you know,
- 31:31Speaker 1: knocking just okay, he's in there, he's popular, then knock
- 31:34Speaker 1: him the fuck out and show him what real boxing is.
- 31:36Speaker 1: And that's no disrespect to Jake Paul. I've given him
- 31:39Speaker 1: a lot of credit as a promoter one and two
- 31:45Speaker 1: what he's done for women's boxing right. Three, he's you know,
- 31:49Speaker 1: put in the work, man, He's put in some work
- 31:52Speaker 1: and he's improved as a boxer. So but the Dravonte
- 31:56Speaker 1: Davis thing, I get it from Davis's side, because, like
- 32:01Speaker 1: I said, it does appear that what he said not
- 32:05Speaker 1: all that long ago, that he's not gonna be here
- 32:07Speaker 1: that much longer, and so he is in retirement mode.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I think if the if the fans knew he was
- 32:15Speaker 1: gonna fight a rematch with Lamont Roach or take on
- 32:17Speaker 1: Shrequurse Stevenson next, I think a lot of fans would
- 32:20Speaker 1: accept this more right, But we don't know. And if
- 32:24Speaker 1: you didn't even like honor your rematch with Lamont Roach,
- 32:29Speaker 1: which by the way, needed to be honored in my opinion,
- 32:33Speaker 1: I think you needed to fight that fight, you know.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And then the thing about Canelo Benavetez, that's a fight
- 32:43Speaker 1: that and I've always said Canelo doesn't have anything to
- 32:46Speaker 1: prove because he's fought so many guys. But at the
- 32:48Speaker 1: same time, if you're gonna sign long, you know, like
- 32:53Speaker 1: four and six, But if you're gonna if you're gonna
- 32:56Speaker 1: be around still fighting, then it's like, well, you might
- 32:58Speaker 1: as well fight Benavidez. And because it's a ton of
- 33:01Speaker 1: money and you keep fighting, it's fight. It's a lot
- 33:04Speaker 1: better than fighting Berlanga or Skull or you know. So
- 33:09Speaker 1: if you're gonna fight in a division or around a
- 33:13Speaker 1: division and keep fighting and fight lesser opponents, and I'm
- 33:16Speaker 1: not saying he's doing that with Crawford, but he's done
- 33:19Speaker 1: that in recent fights. Then then it's kind of like, well,
- 33:22Speaker 1: what the fuck, dude, there's a fight right here, fight Benavidez,
- 33:26Speaker 1: you know. So, But with Dravante, it's like the Dravante
- 33:30Speaker 1: Jake Paul, It's gonna do monster numbers. But the one
- 33:36Speaker 1: thing that holds me back is like, will Dravonte parlay
- 33:40Speaker 1: that into making the Lamont Roach rematch that much bigger?
- 33:46Speaker 1: Making mister cors Stevenson fight that much bigger? And also
- 33:52Speaker 1: say whatever you want, but the height in the size
- 33:56Speaker 1: difference does mean something, and you know, like we saw
- 34:04Speaker 1: a version of that a somewhat right. I mean, I
- 34:11Speaker 1: guess you could say, is Logan's bigger than his brother? Right?
- 34:15Speaker 1: I think a little bit anyway, but not I don't
- 34:20Speaker 1: even know weight wise because obviously Jake has you know,
- 34:26Speaker 1: gone up and wait and he fought you know, at
- 34:29Speaker 1: heavier weights now too, so I don't really know. But
- 34:32Speaker 1: the size like it's gonna be tough to close the gap.
- 34:36Speaker 1: And we've seen even though Jake Paul's not a top
- 34:39Speaker 1: fifteen rated fighter, I mean actually like real rankings top
- 34:44Speaker 1: ten or something at cruiserweight or whatever, heavyweight we've seen
- 34:52Speaker 1: like size be an issue for Jervonte and him being
- 34:56Speaker 1: a little hesitant, so maybe he will just try to
- 34:59Speaker 1: co owner punch, you know. But either way, like I
- 35:05Speaker 1: just think when you have schkor Stephenson, like the thing
- 35:08Speaker 1: about Canelo at least fought a lot of guys, whereas
- 35:13Speaker 1: Gravante hasn't. Now I think his resume is a tad underrated,
- 35:19Speaker 1: but we're at the point where it's like, dude, you
- 35:21Speaker 1: said you had a hit list, so start checking off
- 35:24Speaker 1: the fucking list, you know. So on one hand, it's
- 35:29Speaker 1: gonna be you know, it is going to be a
- 35:31Speaker 1: big night in boxing. We'll see how it compares to
- 35:36Speaker 1: Canelo Crawford, to have Canelo Crawford, to have Gervonte and Paul.
- 35:43Speaker 1: You know, we had the trilogy that unfortunately, you know,
- 35:47Speaker 1: didn't turn out all that good, but it was on Netflix.
- 35:50Speaker 1: It got a really good rating, so you know, I
- 35:54Speaker 1: guess we just like Gravante's. Clearly it's not on pay
- 35:58Speaker 1: per view. I'll give it that. I haven't flick, so
- 36:01Speaker 1: of course I'm gonna watch it. But I just think
- 36:03Speaker 1: Dravante has unfinished business that I would have liked him
- 36:06Speaker 1: to take care of and and like I said, I'd
- 36:10Speaker 1: be a lot more accepting of this fight if we
- 36:13Speaker 1: knew Shakhor was like next may or something like that.
- 36:18Speaker 1: And not to say that it couldn't be, but like,
- 36:21Speaker 1: it just doesn't seem like it is, So why would
- 36:24Speaker 1: we get our hopes up for it, you know what
- 36:26Speaker 1: I mean. So that's my take on the fight. I'm
- 36:31Speaker 1: not anti legit fighters fighting Jake Paul for the reasons
- 36:37Speaker 1: I laid out. You can call it the circus all
- 36:41Speaker 1: you want, Okay, cool, that's fair, But let's put a
- 36:46Speaker 1: stop to the circus then, and that's how you do
- 36:49Speaker 1: it with the real fighter. It seems like he was
- 36:51Speaker 1: ready to fight Canelo and Anthony Joshua. And I'm not
- 36:54Speaker 1: saying Canelo is dunking him. I'm just saying that. Before
- 36:59Speaker 1: it was more like, well, he's not gonna fight this
- 37:01Speaker 1: Guy's not gonna fight that Guy's not gonna fight that guy.
- 37:03Speaker 1: And I was saying that too. But it seems like
- 37:05Speaker 1: he's ready to cash out. He's ready to do it too,
- 37:12Speaker 1: So yeah, it is what it is. Jermonta Davis clearly
- 37:16Speaker 1: in retirement mode, and you know he came up, he
- 37:24Speaker 1: had a rough childhood, and he said it in passing
- 37:28Speaker 1: interviews that like, dude, I've already accomplished, like I've helped
- 37:31Speaker 1: my life out so much that you know, to me,
- 37:35Speaker 1: it's like I've already It's kind of like he's satisfied,
- 37:38Speaker 1: which I you know, I understand that. I'm not that
- 37:41Speaker 1: I understand that angle like I can relate to that angle,
- 37:44Speaker 1: per se. I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying
- 37:48Speaker 1: that if he's happy after this fighting just goes away,
- 37:54Speaker 1: I'm not gonna completely destroy him, but because hey man,
- 38:01Speaker 1: you got out, you made money, see you later. But
- 38:05Speaker 1: it's also like, hey, so I'm happy when guys get
- 38:07Speaker 1: out when they want to get out in gals by
- 38:10Speaker 1: the way, right, I'm happy about that. But you know,
- 38:16Speaker 1: if you leave without fighting shakor you know it, obviously
- 38:21Speaker 1: you're leaving money on the table. One two, It's like, dude,
- 38:26Speaker 1: just get just fight that one legacy fight, dude, Like
- 38:31Speaker 1: Ryan Garcia was a great fight. I wouldn't call it
- 38:33Speaker 1: a legacy fight. I think it would go down more
- 38:36Speaker 1: like that if Ryan would have a better career now,
- 38:41Speaker 1: which I'm not sure he will, or like a you know,
- 38:44Speaker 1: he goes out there and like the Hainy thing that
- 38:47Speaker 1: was big, but then now he turns right around and loses,
- 38:51Speaker 1: you know, So I think it's gonna be kind of
- 38:53Speaker 1: up and down. Heis and Lowe's with him, and a
- 38:57Speaker 1: lot of time off. So I don't know where that
- 39:01Speaker 1: Ryan Garcia. We know where the name is, but we
- 39:03Speaker 1: don't know as far as you know. I can rip
- 39:08Speaker 1: belts for some belts not meaning a thing, but in
- 39:13Speaker 1: the day of so many damn belts, for him not
- 39:17Speaker 1: to have won a belt would be kind of crazy. Anyway.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Speaking of ster Court Stephenson, him and Tayo Fema Lopez
- 39:28Speaker 1: are supposedly deep in talks for January. I shouldn't say supposedly,
- 39:33Speaker 1: it does sound like they are. Will it happen? Will
- 39:38Speaker 1: there be a wait thing? Will they just meet at one?
- 39:45Speaker 1: Does Tayo want to fight? Continue to fight at one?
- 39:49Speaker 1: Will he pull out at the last second? No pause?
- 39:52Speaker 1: No pause there? Because Tayo he's when he really wants
- 39:57Speaker 1: to fight someone and he feels good about it it,
- 40:01Speaker 1: he usually will fight him, right, I mean fighting fighting
- 40:04Speaker 1: two lineal champs at the time, that's a pretty big deal, right,
- 40:10Speaker 1: But I don't know, you know, I really don't know
- 40:17Speaker 1: if you'll actually take this fight. It's a weird style
- 40:20Speaker 1: for him. He doesn't look as good against guys that
- 40:23Speaker 1: can do what he does but better. I would love
- 40:30Speaker 1: to see it. I would love to see it. I
- 40:33Speaker 1: know there's a media member out there that said that
- 40:36Speaker 1: it's going to be a snoozer. Okay, but I want
- 40:40Speaker 1: to see it. I want to see. I hope it
- 40:42Speaker 1: gets done. You know, will that be yet another pay
- 40:49Speaker 1: per view? Will that be under the new twenty twenty
- 40:53Speaker 1: six to his own second subscriber price, or will it
- 41:00Speaker 1: be you know, under zoofa boxing Dana White, you know,
- 41:05Speaker 1: saying in an interview that he has a deal done
- 41:08Speaker 1: for the boxing side of it. Would it be on that?
- 41:12Speaker 1: You know? I have no clue that's what I would hope.
- 41:15Speaker 1: It's a lot better than being on his own pay
- 41:17Speaker 1: per view. But we'll see. But yeah, bring brings to court,
- 41:20Speaker 1: Stevenson to tail, Fema Lopez, bring it on. We now
- 41:24Speaker 1: have a date for Fundora and Thurman. It is October
- 41:36Speaker 1: twenty fifth at the MGM in Las Vegas. Of course,
- 41:43Speaker 1: you'd rather not be a pay per view, right obviously,
- 41:50Speaker 1: but it is right, and you know, I guess you
- 41:53Speaker 1: could say, at least we've been getting hit over the
- 41:56Speaker 1: head with so many fucking pay per views this year.
- 41:59Speaker 1: At least we get a little gap here without, you know,
- 42:03Speaker 1: a pay per view, so that kind of feels refreshing.
- 42:06Speaker 1: By the time October comes around, it it'll be like, hey, wow, yeah,
- 42:09Speaker 1: I'm ready to do a pay per view because you know,
- 42:12Speaker 1: there's been so many. But you know, I think it's
- 42:17Speaker 1: a good name for Fundora to put on his ledger.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I think it'll test Fundora as far as patients and
- 42:30Speaker 1: setting up his punches and keeping fighters like he did
- 42:34Speaker 1: in his last fight against Tim Zuo, and like he's
- 42:36Speaker 1: shown in other fights, just not enough keeping fighters at
- 42:40Speaker 1: the end of his punches and using some of that length.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Doesn't mean you're going to try to out box people
- 42:46Speaker 1: on the outside and move a bunch. It just you
- 42:49Speaker 1: can be going forward but keeping you know, but you
- 42:54Speaker 1: can go forward from a distance if that makes sense.
- 42:56Speaker 1: You know, with all that range and therma, I still
- 43:01Speaker 1: have to question whether he can keep it up for
- 43:04Speaker 1: a whole fight because of the legs. You know, the
- 43:06Speaker 1: legs tend to be the first thing to go. Punch
- 43:10Speaker 1: resistance can be a big issue. As well as we know,
- 43:17Speaker 1: it's not like he's been in war after war after war.
- 43:22Speaker 1: He's been in some you know, hard fights, though, I
- 43:24Speaker 1: will say that, and you is this the fight where
- 43:28Speaker 1: he finally gets hurt enough to where he's in trouble
- 43:32Speaker 1: to the body and then Fandora follows up. But as
- 43:36Speaker 1: far as like staying at range, moving, you know, at
- 43:43Speaker 1: a pretty high level, pot shotting, jabbing, being accurate, winning,
- 43:48Speaker 1: making sure you're winning the round with clean punches, and
- 43:53Speaker 1: but on the move stylistically, I mean prime for prime,
- 43:58Speaker 1: I'd have Thurman win clearly. I think he probably knock
- 44:02Speaker 1: him out. But you know, Fandora is a guy that
- 44:07Speaker 1: just he keeps plugging away and he and he keeps
- 44:10Speaker 1: getting better. He has improved, and a lot was said
- 44:15Speaker 1: about him right away then people were saying, oh he
- 44:18Speaker 1: got exposed. Then it's like, whoa, he is pretty good,
- 44:22Speaker 1: you know. So I like the fight. But the co
- 44:25Speaker 1: feature now we know is Foster Fulton, which I think
- 44:32Speaker 1: he's going to be a highly competitive, very very good fight.
- 44:36Speaker 1: I know that neither guy Fulton's going to be going
- 44:40Speaker 1: up and waiting. Neither guy have a ton a ton
- 44:42Speaker 1: of power. But or you know, are known to be
- 44:46Speaker 1: knockout punchers, but they are known to get it in,
- 44:51Speaker 1: you know. I mean sometimes they've both shown a style
- 44:55Speaker 1: I would say, I don't know. I mean sometimes you
- 44:58Speaker 1: want a little bit more out of the fighter. You
- 45:00Speaker 1: could say that for Foster in a recent performance Fulton,
- 45:09Speaker 1: like I said, if you look at the figure row,
- 45:11Speaker 1: if you look at some of these fights, he like
- 45:13Speaker 1: he did try to do stuff against anyway, just anyway
- 45:18Speaker 1: was on a different level. You know. I don't think
- 45:20Speaker 1: he just sat down in that fight. I mean he
- 45:22Speaker 1: got sat down, but I don't think he was just
- 45:26Speaker 1: like happy to be there and went to survival mode
- 45:29Speaker 1: the whole fight or anything like that. But I really,
- 45:34Speaker 1: I mean that that's a good, good co feature. So yeah,
- 45:39Speaker 1: it's on pay per view, and yeah, you know, we
- 45:42Speaker 1: wish we could at some point turn the tie on
- 45:46Speaker 1: that and get some of these fights, you know, on
- 45:51Speaker 1: a better like not always on pay per view. But
- 45:55Speaker 1: with that said, knowing where we're at right now, I
- 45:59Speaker 1: really like the these two fights. I really really do.
- 46:03Speaker 1: I think they're they're good, solid fights. I still haven't, like,
- 46:09Speaker 1: you know, I just haven't been able to I don't know,
- 46:14Speaker 1: I'm just I am wondering about, you know, Thurman, another one,
- 46:20Speaker 1: Isaac Lucero against Tony Harrison. I think Harrison stylistically, we know,
- 46:28Speaker 1: you know, we talk about punch resistance. We'll see where
- 46:31Speaker 1: he's at there. But you know, that's a good style
- 46:36Speaker 1: matchup for a guy who doesn't have twenty fights left. Now,
- 46:39Speaker 1: Ramos Junior, it's more like, yeah, Shane Moosley Junior has
- 46:43Speaker 1: actually put on some decent performances, but clearly he you know,
- 46:49Speaker 1: there's a level there that he's just not that high on.
- 46:54Speaker 1: In my opinion, excuse me, but I think for Ramos
- 46:58Speaker 1: to kind of it feels like more of a get
- 47:02Speaker 1: right fight. But you know, so entertainment wise, I could
- 47:08Speaker 1: see this being a pretty entertaining fight, as as I
- 47:13Speaker 1: could see the other fight I mentioned. So I do
- 47:17Speaker 1: like the undercard, but we'll see. How Like n I
- 47:23Speaker 1: guess the only pressure on Romost is, hey, dude, you
- 47:25Speaker 1: better look pretty good against his dude no offense you
- 47:29Speaker 1: know to Shane Mosey Junior. But you know we've already
- 47:34Speaker 1: seen his stealing, so so I guess there is a
- 47:38Speaker 1: little pressure on him saying, hey, dude, you better look
- 47:41Speaker 1: good here. You know you better look good if you
- 47:44Speaker 1: want to get into another fight where people think that
- 47:48Speaker 1: you have, like a higher level fight where people think
- 47:52Speaker 1: you actually have a chance to actually win the fight.
- 47:55Speaker 1: You know. I did see on brunch Boxing that Samsen
- 48:00Speaker 1: one a final eliminator. I think it was for the
- 48:04Speaker 1: IBF with Frank Sanchez and fa A Jaga. Samson bid
- 48:11Speaker 1: three hundred and two thousand compared to top rank two
- 48:14Speaker 1: hundred and ten. The person bid was split in favor
- 48:17Speaker 1: of Jagma sixty forty. But this is just one of those,
- 48:27Speaker 1: you know, one of those fights where you're like, like,
- 48:34Speaker 1: so it's the IBF, and everybody loves to praise the
- 48:36Speaker 1: IBF because they follow their rules a lot. And I always, yeah,
- 48:41Speaker 1: I always say, hey, remember they were you know, their
- 48:46Speaker 1: shit got they got their shit pushed in, you know
- 48:48Speaker 1: what I mean. They they got raided. So yeah, they're
- 48:51Speaker 1: a little bit better than that, but than other sanction belts.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I get it. But still you can break down IBF
- 48:59Speaker 1: ranking throughout the weight classes like that's shitty, what's that
- 49:03Speaker 1: person doing there? And as long as they don't you know,
- 49:07Speaker 1: rank a champion that I'm good, you know, as long
- 49:12Speaker 1: as as long as you're not doing that, and your
- 49:14Speaker 1: rankings can still be kind of silly. And do we
- 49:18Speaker 1: do we? Is this a fight that like, I don't know,
- 49:21Speaker 1: I'm just not too excited about that, right who else?
- 49:25Speaker 1: Maybe Fa will fight better this time around, who knows.
- 49:32Speaker 1: I also saw from Ring Magazine that Martaya and Floyd
- 49:36Speaker 1: Schofield or you know, basically in talks for a November fight.
- 49:47Speaker 1: We'll see, you know where we go from there. I
- 49:51Speaker 1: also saw something from I think it's from Australia Fox
- 49:56Speaker 1: Sports that Turkey wants to make oh Battalia Chesaura, but
- 50:02Speaker 1: I guess Chasaura is gonna have to uh take care
- 50:05Speaker 1: of his mandol. Maybe there'll be some step aside. Could
- 50:08Speaker 1: you imagine step aside money to fight Chesaura? Like okay,
- 50:21Speaker 1: what else we got here? Do so? Yeah? Oh Shocky
- 50:25Speaker 1: Foster and Stephen Foulton. I like that fight a lot. Man.
- 50:30Speaker 1: There was some talk I saw this from Split Spit
- 50:33Speaker 1: Bucket podcast that Gabriel Flora is telling them that LaMonte
- 50:38Speaker 1: Roach in Gabriel Flora's junior. That was senior talking, uh
- 50:43Speaker 1: that that's not gonna There was an agreement, but it's
- 50:47Speaker 1: it's basically, uh, it's not gonna happen because Roach is
- 50:52Speaker 1: going to pursue other options this fall and in you know,
- 50:59Speaker 1: some people are talking about that. You know, maybe it
- 51:02Speaker 1: would be you know, maybe it would be bull pitbull Cruise.
- 51:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I did get a message going through it,
- 51:12Speaker 1: did I see? What do I think of Tony Ferguson
- 51:15Speaker 1: knocking out a Salt Poppy? Yeah? I mean Tony Ferguson
- 51:20Speaker 1: knocked him out. That's what I think of it. Oh
- 51:22Speaker 1: and then I did screenshot this just to remind me
- 51:27Speaker 1: Darren Till Knockout of the Year. Screenshot it from a
- 51:30Speaker 1: brunch boxing tweet. Yeah, that that was damn good. It
- 51:35Speaker 1: looks like Bachrum and Josh Kelly. You know, there's been
- 51:43Speaker 1: an issue, like we thought that the fight was gonna happen,
- 51:46Speaker 1: and then it was like, well, I think it's happening.
- 51:50Speaker 1: I don't know. I know that he had some other
- 51:53Speaker 1: opportunities that maybe he should have taken. But at least
- 51:57Speaker 1: hopefully he fights, you know, but I saw him just
- 52:01Speaker 1: recently say you know, I wish people would just sign
- 52:04Speaker 1: the deal or whatever. So I don't know. I did
- 52:07Speaker 1: also see that Usick gotten a little little minor trouble
- 52:15Speaker 1: with the WBO. They ordered him to submitt an updated
- 52:18Speaker 1: medical prognosis because he was basically he requested a delay
- 52:26Speaker 1: for his Mando Joseph Parker, and it all due to
- 52:30Speaker 1: this this video where he was dancing, which I thought
- 52:35Speaker 1: was pretty funny speaking of injuries, but what you're back training?
- 52:42Speaker 1: I saw this. I saw that Bivill's back train. It
- 52:49Speaker 1: must be like light training, because didn't they say did
- 52:54Speaker 1: they say six to eight weeks? I could have sworn
- 52:56Speaker 1: him six to eight weeks. And I don't think it's
- 53:01Speaker 1: been about a month since his back surgery, because it
- 53:04Speaker 1: was like early August. It was like August eighth or
- 53:08Speaker 1: ninth or tenth or something like that. And here we
- 53:10Speaker 1: are in the first week of September and he he
- 53:14Speaker 1: must just be light training because someone sent me something
- 53:20Speaker 1: saying what's up with Bivili? You think he lied about
- 53:23Speaker 1: it and it was based off of like Usik the
- 53:26Speaker 1: combination of that. So yeah, that does kind of make
- 53:29Speaker 1: me scratch my head. But I didn't. I didn't see
- 53:32Speaker 1: the training video or something. Did he did he put
- 53:34Speaker 1: out a training video or something? I did hear though,
- 53:37Speaker 1: he's back in the gym. But you can just be
- 53:40Speaker 1: back in the gym and not, you know, just kind
- 53:42Speaker 1: of staying loose or whatever. Speaking of Parker though, with
- 53:46Speaker 1: the USIK thing, Fabio Wardley and Joshua or Joseph Parker Jesus,
- 53:52Speaker 1: it sounds like on October twenty fifth, what do you know,
- 53:56Speaker 1: Let's hope that's not a double day pay per view.
- 54:02Speaker 1: It sounds like O two Arena in London. I really
- 54:07Speaker 1: like that fight. I know Parker, you know, I understand Parker.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Some people think he should get his shot at Usik. Okay,
- 54:16Speaker 1: that's fair. He has some good wins lately, but and
- 54:22Speaker 1: some you know, sometimes you can't deny fights just because well,
- 54:27Speaker 1: Parker wouldn't win, because I don't think Parker would win
- 54:29Speaker 1: against Usik at all. But you know, if you fought
- 54:33Speaker 1: some guys and you've won the fights, then you know,
- 54:35Speaker 1: and in and it was he was scheduled to fight
- 54:39Speaker 1: the Bois, wasn't he? And then so I don't know,
- 54:43Speaker 1: but I did see Salvador Rodriguez Chava on ESPN talk
- 54:47Speaker 1: about he basically like, do you like Cruz Roach for December?
- 54:55Speaker 1: They tell me there's a lot of interesting pitbull Cruise
- 54:58Speaker 1: and Lamont in December. So it's a pretty good move
- 55:05Speaker 1: for lamont Okay. So someone screenshot me this and this
- 55:07Speaker 1: is exactly what I was talking about. A media member saying,
- 55:11Speaker 1: Tayo Shakor has all the makings for a snoozer counterpunchers
- 55:15Speaker 1: with output in the low forties. There's probably three or
- 55:19Speaker 1: four fights in the division i'd rather see them in,
- 55:22Speaker 1: but I'm still watching. I mean three or four, Like
- 55:26Speaker 1: like when the Spurs won championships, people call them born,
- 55:31Speaker 1: but they still won championships and they're still respected. So
- 55:34Speaker 1: to me, it's like, I can't say that there's for
- 55:40Speaker 1: sure three or four fights that I'd much rather see
- 55:44Speaker 1: than this fight, just because I think it's clearly it's
- 55:52Speaker 1: the best, you know, like it's the biggest challenge for
- 55:56Speaker 1: Skur in his career. It's not even close. So and
- 56:01Speaker 1: you know, many people would say that. On the other
- 56:03Speaker 1: other side, Taylor did some really nice things. He was
- 56:05Speaker 1: the lineal champ. Lomachenko did some nice things, he was
- 56:09Speaker 1: a literal champ. Both those guys are gonna be in
- 56:10Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame, by the way, Shakoor is yet
- 56:14Speaker 1: to show it all. So and then someone asked me
- 56:20Speaker 1: what do I give my give my thoughts on Kishan
- 56:23Speaker 1: Davis retirement is so peaceful. He's just it is what Hey,
- 56:26Speaker 1: if it's peaceful and he's not gonna fight, then he's
- 56:28Speaker 1: not gonna fight it. I think it's just, you know,
- 56:30Speaker 1: it is what it is, man, you know, it is
- 56:35Speaker 1: what it is. I don't I don't think he's retired,
- 56:39Speaker 1: let's put it that way. I really don't think he's
- 56:42Speaker 1: retired at all. So and then I saw it from
- 56:48Speaker 1: Chava as well in Yua and Picasso. Sounds like they
- 56:51Speaker 1: reached a deal for December twenty seventh, just get to Knockashani.
- 56:55Speaker 1: This was kind of cool. I saw this on brunch
- 56:58Speaker 1: boxing Dan Garcia against Daniel Gonzalez. That's basically, you know,
- 57:04Speaker 1: him saying goodbye to Barclay Centers, a farewell to Brooklyn
- 57:08Speaker 1: Swift Promotions the eighteenth of October. I think that's kind
- 57:14Speaker 1: of a cool way, you know. He he did bring
- 57:16Speaker 1: a lot of crowds into that arena and he found
- 57:20Speaker 1: a lot of fights there, and I think that's a
- 57:22Speaker 1: cool way to do it. So, you know, I like that.
- 57:28Speaker 1: I liked that they did. I also saw from Chava
- 57:31Speaker 1: that Raphael Espinoza will be back in November on Za
- 57:38Speaker 1: Zanfer boxing event in Mexico. So that's kind of cool.
- 57:43Speaker 1: I like watching him fight. Oh, Fresh Productions beats out
- 57:48Speaker 1: match Room for Sabril Mattias in Dalton Smith one point
- 57:55Speaker 1: nine to one point seven to one, So look like
- 58:00Speaker 1: that's going to be in Puerto Rico. I assume there's
- 58:03Speaker 1: also some talks from Frank Warren on box Nation TV
- 58:08Speaker 1: that Moses Atoma and Philip Hergovic in December thirteenth on
- 58:15Speaker 1: December thirteenth in Manchester. It all depends on the cut healing,
- 58:21Speaker 1: you know, with Hergovic. I like that fight. I think
- 58:25Speaker 1: there's challenges there for Moses. I think it's a very
- 58:30Speaker 1: good fight. I think that you can say that. Of course,
- 58:35Speaker 1: you know, Hergovic is very basic, but he's good at
- 58:39Speaker 1: what he does, so I think, you know, I think
- 58:43Speaker 1: there's some challenges there to overcome. I also saw Netflix
- 58:49Speaker 1: announcing that they have a documentary with Tyson Fury. There
- 58:55Speaker 1: hasn't been a release date, but that may be interesting.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Oh here's another one from Chava like, so hi may
- 59:05Speaker 1: mean Mungia. It sounds like you cad triple bf c uh.
- 59:13Speaker 1: You know that? Well they they as we know there's
- 59:16Speaker 1: no sanctions now as we know. You know, in his
- 59:19Speaker 1: in his rematch fight, he tested positive for a banned substance.
- 59:25Speaker 1: I guess he's been cleared on that, so he no
- 59:28Speaker 1: sanctions from the Triple bf C or you can. So
- 59:35Speaker 1: maybe they just maybe they challenge you, Cad with another
- 59:39Speaker 1: lawsuit and they're like, I'm good. I'm probably gonna be good. Thanks.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Adam from s N Boxing that top rank distribution partner
- 59:49Speaker 1: announcement is taken longer than what we were led to believe. Yeah, yeah,
- 59:53Speaker 1: it has. Like I said, the most recent one we've
- 59:55Speaker 1: heard is Stars the Stars Network. I don't know. I'm
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: not sure what's going on. Canelo Alvarez. I saw this. Emily,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: who works with David Benevetez, had a quote tweet Canelo
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Alvarez is from Ring Magazine, believes that this fight against
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Terrence Crawford feels different, is important for his legacy because
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: remember he said I won't get any before, he'd say
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: I'd never fight Crawford because I won't get credit for it,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: which I don't think he will get credit for it.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: But Emily is like, oh, we care about legacy now
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: because you know benevite Is. That's that's pretty good too.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Crawford's a more established fighter, no doubt about it, no
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: doubt about it. But that's why I say about Canelo.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: It's like, if you're gonna find if you're going to
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: keep fighting, and you're gonna keep fighting in these divisions,
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: but you fight a berlanga, you fight a skull. You've
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: seen some other guys he's fought, but then not to
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: fight Benavitez. That's where it scratches my head. Now, if
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: he if he wanted to just retire, then I wouldn't
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: be questioning him at all. But you know, it is
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: what it is. It is what it is. Oh, it
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: does sound like I saw to He heard and say
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: this more than once. Now that he's deep into talks
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: with Matchroom, you know, extending your deal with this film,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: so we'll see how that goes. Oh. Nause from Cigar
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Talk got a little back and forth on Twitter. Right
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Devin Haney talking about Nause to sell out, and Nause
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: quote tweeted him saying left Hook must still have must
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: still have you not seeing straight because he's the realist
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: interview in the game. Your feelings are misgut Young man,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: tighten up, make sure you focus on you know, be Norman.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: And you know, like I thought, Jay Row, you know,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: he quote tweeted nause after that, and I thought he
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: hit the you know, I thought he hit the nail
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: on the button. It's crazy how low motion goes to
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: people's heads. At one point, respectful, humble professional, I'm gonna
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: come up now publicly betting fighters on their fights. That
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: that that you cover making jokes about what happened in
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: a professional ring. And and that's the point, like he
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: fought a guy who cheated, and you're talking about all
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: the left hook as you has you not seen right,
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: you know, like it's like see you're gonna make I
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: don't know. To me, it's like it is funky. It's
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: really funky. And I didn't see the Ryan Garson and
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: then he says, you know, he says, you're right. I'm
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: not a professional fighter. I'm a contact creator. Ryan Garcia interview,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: and I didn't see the Ryan Garcia video, so I
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: don't know if he pressed them as much. It doesn't
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: sound like it. I asked there was a Twitter space
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: and I asked some people, and they made it sound
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: like he didn't press you know the way he pressed
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Tao Fema Lopez. Well, it doesn't sound like he pressed
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: I didn't see the interview, but it doesn't sound like
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: he pressed Ryan Garcia like that. And I'm not saying,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: you know, Ryan Garcia is racist. He said some racist shit.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: I don't care if he has certain friends from different backgrounds.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: He said some shit that until you until you all
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: the way say what you did was wrong, and you know,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: because he's never really said sorry for it at all,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: and it's been more of a backhanded thing when he has,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: so it's it's okay if you're going to interview him, sure,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: but you do have to press him even more. You
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: could say, you know, than tail, which it sounds like
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: he did. And then he had Marco some fight up coming,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: and you don't see me beefing with fighters. I try
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: to always keep a professional which in other words of professionalism.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: That's not true. But Nika said, you were the one
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: crying that small YouTube channels were getting interviews exactly is
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: what I quote tweet or what I responded with off
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: of that tweet. Because you know, that's why I don't
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: really like Marcos, because he's fake dude, and he'll he'll
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: he'll follow up questions, uh, you know, to certain fighters,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: he'll follow up, like real hard hitting follow up to Espinoza,
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: but then he won't with you know, other other times
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: he just won't. It just won't be there, and so
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: it is, you know it. It's just kind of bullshit,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: to be honest with you. All Right, I'm gonna get
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: out of here. Enjoy the fights this weekend. Hopefully we
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: get some bangers. I'm looking forward. Like I said to
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Iglacias Shishkin, I think that's the most step up legit
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: fight this weekend for a step up or one of
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: the most I'm really looking forward to the fight and
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: some other These fights are pretty closely matched on paper,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: so we will have a huge fight coming up next weekend.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Life gets in the way, but I don't see it
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: getting in the way next Tuesday, so it should be
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: good to go. If anything, I would do a show
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: on Monday night. I don't think I'm going to, but
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: but I may do it on on Monday instead of Tuesday.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: But like I said, I can't promise anything, but either way,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: enjoy the fights this weekend. Be back next week as
