Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gatz and Hawkman.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I mean.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Taylor smiles every single time.
- 0:10Speaker 3: I mean, just some guys chopping it up about Frank Caliendo,
- 0:15Speaker 3: who was here in South Florida the past weekend in
- 0:19Speaker 3: a mall in Wellington. Yes.
- 0:22Speaker 4: First thing I thought of when I couldn't find the
- 0:25Speaker 4: comedy club because I had no idea it was inside
- 0:27Speaker 4: a mall. But once I realized it was inside a mall,
- 0:30Speaker 4: strange place for a comedy club. But it was a
- 0:32Speaker 4: nice place, nice venue. The first thing I thought of was, wow,
- 0:36Speaker 4: dream night for the Hawkmans. I mean, a little Caliendo
- 0:39Speaker 4: and walk.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Through the mall.
- 0:40Speaker 2: How about that?
- 0:41Speaker 3: I mean, literally, I couldn't script a better night.
- 0:45Speaker 2: So it was funny.
- 0:46Speaker 3: We, you know, he, he, he played this past weekend.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Stugatz went to see him on Saturday. We went to
- 0:50Speaker 3: see him, my wife and I, and, uh, the owner
- 0:53Speaker 3: of funky Buddha and his wife, we went on Friday
- 0:56Speaker 3: night and I knew it was at the mall at
- 0:59Speaker 3: Wellington green. I didn't realize it was in the mall
- 1:04Speaker 3: at Wellington green.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:05Speaker 3: So I expected to see some sort of, you know,
- 1:07Speaker 3: typical improv, you know, um, like.
- 1:11Speaker 2: A standalone building. Yes.
- 1:13Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Like a little Peter facing thing or whatever.
- 1:16Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:17Speaker 3: And, and then it was in the mall. It happened
- 1:21Speaker 3: to be a beautiful room. Like if you ever go
- 1:23Speaker 3: to comedy clubs, like this was, this is brand new.
- 1:25Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:26Speaker 3: And, uh, it's the same guy who owns, uh, the
- 1:29Speaker 3: improv in Dania beach, which is called the Fort Lauderdale improv.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah. But, um, it's literally inside the mall.
- 1:35Speaker 3: You walk in the mall doors and then you walk past,
- 1:39Speaker 3: you know, a couple of kiosks for, you know, rings
- 1:42Speaker 3: and phones.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And then.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I had sent, yeah, I had sent Kelly and no
- 1:51Speaker 3: Kelly endo. I'm looking at my, my text with him. So,
- 1:54Speaker 3: cause the show started at seven. I was leaving Boca,
- 1:57Speaker 3: you know, around six, like after my radio show.
- 1:59Speaker 6: Sure.
- 2:00Speaker 3: So at 649, he texted me, let me know when
- 2:03Speaker 3: you're here and then I'll definitely see you after the show.
- 2:06Speaker 3: So then I text to him just walking into the mall.
- 2:10Speaker 3: which is, I mean, I didn't know what else to say. Sure.
- 2:13Speaker 3: And he responded, grab me a pretzel and an iPhone case.
- 2:19Speaker 2: And you could have. I mean.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I was wondering, like, he's a big time comedian. We'll
- 2:25Speaker 3: play a couple Frank Caliendo clips on the pod today.
- 2:28Speaker 3: He's a big time comedian.
- 2:29Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:29Speaker 3: He's done network TV. Not only did he have mad TV,
- 2:33Speaker 3: he had his own show. Remember on TBS called Frank TV?
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yes, of course.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Yes. Yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 2: And he's obviously at a Fox NFL Sunday and ESPN,
- 2:42Speaker 2: all that stuff.
- 2:43Speaker 3: And I wonder if he gets bothered that he's playing
- 2:48Speaker 3: inside a mall.
- 2:50Speaker 4: It's a great question. I don't know the answer, but
- 2:54Speaker 4: it is a great question. I was thinking the same thing. First,
- 2:57Speaker 4: I started to think, hey, am I bothered that I
- 3:00Speaker 4: had to walk into a mall to go see Frank
- 3:02Speaker 4: Caliendo perform? It's the first time I've ever seen him perform. Really? Yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 4: that's the first time I've seen him live, Hawk.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah, that's crazy. He's so good live. It was
- 3:13Speaker 2: so good.
- 3:14Speaker 4: And I told him it was so great to watch
- 3:16Speaker 4: him be so great at his craft because I've known
- 3:18Speaker 4: him for so long. And I've never seen him do
- 3:21Speaker 4: it unless he's sitting in the studio with us and
- 3:24Speaker 4: doing things that we're asking him to do. But it
- 3:27Speaker 4: was it was a great show. I saw him before
- 3:28Speaker 4: the show. I brought him Monterano meatballs.
- 3:31Speaker 2: He was thrilled. My dad, his life. Oh, God.
- 3:34Speaker 4: My dad came. My wife came. We had a blast
- 3:37Speaker 4: to drink minimum. I blew through that in about 20 minutes.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I mean, like, you know, I imagine that, you know, hey,
- 3:44Speaker 3: he's playing a comedy room. He's not walking inside the
- 3:47Speaker 3: mall because there was a back door because they walked
- 3:49Speaker 3: us out because we had hung out with him a
- 3:50Speaker 3: lot after the show because there was only one show.
- 3:52Speaker 8: Yes.
- 3:53Speaker 2: On Friday.
- 3:54Speaker 3: So he had time and we hung out and then
- 3:56Speaker 3: they walked us through a door. So I'm guessing he
- 3:59Speaker 3: doesn't walk into the mall. The money is still the same,
- 4:02Speaker 3: so it probably doesn't bother him. He gets out on
- 4:04Speaker 3: the stage. It looks like a comedy. It's really one
- 4:06Speaker 3: of the nicer improv comedy clubs because it was just built.
- 4:09Speaker 3: So it was built specifically as a comedy club. You know,
- 4:13Speaker 3: it's not like a retrofitted room that was there.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I met someone. I met someone. This is very exciting.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Sorry to cut you off there, but I think this
- 4:21Speaker 4: would be very exciting for you. First off, there's such
- 4:23Speaker 4: a big difference between Caliendo and the first two guys
- 4:25Speaker 4: who come on before Caliendo.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Remarkable.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Not to insult those guys. They're fine. They're trying to
- 4:32Speaker 4: find their way.
- 4:32Speaker 8: Yes.
- 4:33Speaker 4: But it's just such a big difference, the stage presence
- 4:36Speaker 4: and the humor, because you're laughing out loud. But I
- 4:39Speaker 4: did meet the fake Jason Jackson.
- 4:42Speaker 3: How about that? I've got one for you. So now
- 4:48Speaker 3: I'm sitting there. It's after the show.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:50Speaker 3: And I had mentioned on the radio show a couple
- 4:53Speaker 3: of times, you know, that I was going to be there.
- 4:54Speaker 3: So some people are coming up to me and take
- 4:56Speaker 3: a picture.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Oh, I listened.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I heard Caliendo on your show. Getting ready to go
- 5:01Speaker 3: backstage to meet with Frank. Someone taps me on the
- 5:05Speaker 3: shoulder and he says, I'm here because I heard him
- 5:09Speaker 3: on your show. Had no idea he was going to
- 5:11Speaker 3: be here.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Wow.
- 5:12Speaker 3: And I turn around. And it's Jason Salatkin.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Wow. Former PD of 790 The Ticket.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I mean. He was the inaugural program director of 790
- 5:24Speaker 3: The Ticket. Yes, he was.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Did some heat pregame and postgame.
- 5:28Speaker 8: Yes.
- 5:28Speaker 3: He had a nice broadcasting career.
- 5:30Speaker 4: I think he stopped broadcasting and went into a family business, perhaps.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he's in the financial business.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Good move. For a while, I think he was the
- 5:40Speaker 3: president of my temple for a while.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Of course, Slotty. That counts as a nickname right there, Slotty.
- 5:46Speaker 2: It does.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I was thinking to myself, I'm like, Jason Slotkin, Slotty.
- 5:52Speaker 3: And then I'm like, there's one person who would know
- 5:55Speaker 3: him as that.
- 5:55Speaker 2: But he, for those who listen to... Didn't he.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Do a show on 790?
- 6:02Speaker 2: Wasn't it Slotkin in the middays?
- 6:04Speaker 4: Slotkin did a midday show for a little bit, a
- 6:06Speaker 4: couple of years. I'm not certain who he did the show.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Was it with Minervini?
- 6:11Speaker 2: Minnie in the midday? Was that with Slotkin? Maybe.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Maybe it was, yes.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I'm not certain. He didn't host his own show.
- 6:19Speaker 4: He was definitely co-hosting with somebody who needed someone like
- 6:22Speaker 4: Jason Slotkin to be doing the show with him because
- 6:25Speaker 4: he was very polished.
- 6:26Speaker 2: He was broadcast polished, you know?
- 6:28Speaker 3: Yeah, he was the he was the first program director.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I have a memory of he wanted to have, you know,
- 6:34Speaker 3: like a program meeting or whatever. And this was like,
- 6:39Speaker 3: I don't know, maybe four or five months into the
- 6:41Speaker 3: Levitard show. And Jason Slotkin says, hey, let's meet at
- 6:44Speaker 3: noon in the conference room, something like that. I'll go
- 6:49Speaker 3: over my thoughts on the show with you.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And I'm sitting in there. I'm waiting.
- 6:53Speaker 3: And then he saunters in like five minutes later, and
- 6:57Speaker 3: he's carrying like a Lean Cuisine bag. And he proceeds
- 7:03Speaker 3: to have this meeting with me while he eats his
- 7:06Speaker 3: lean cuisine.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And I thought it was like the douchiest move.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I remember sitting there thinking, this guy's going to fucking
- 7:13Speaker 3: eat his lunch after calling me in for a meal.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Like, get over yourself.
- 7:19Speaker 9: So I found an article, Hawk, that says Craig Minervini
- 7:22Speaker 9: and Salatkin hosted 10 to 1 on 790. And then
- 7:26Speaker 9: they were eventually replaced by Boog Shambi.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Right. That's exactly what happened. That's exactly what happened. That
- 7:34Speaker 3: was the inaugural 790 lineup. was Minnie and the Middays,
- 7:39Speaker 3: and it was Craig Minervini and Jason Salatka.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Yes, I was supposed to take the Midday slot, but
- 7:43Speaker 4: Dan had called me, and I've told this story before,
- 7:46Speaker 4: a week before the station started, and said, hey, I'm
- 7:48Speaker 4: not doing this thing alone. And I said, well, okay,
- 7:50Speaker 4: who do you want me to get? And he told
- 7:52Speaker 4: me Boog, and Boog was unavailable. So then he said, well,
- 7:55Speaker 4: Boog told me he couldn't do it, but you would
- 7:57Speaker 4: be a perfect co-host for me. And so that's how
- 7:59Speaker 4: Dan and I got connected, and then we had to
- 8:01Speaker 4: fill that Midday slot. So I filled it with Slotty
- 8:03Speaker 4: and Minnie.
- 8:04Speaker 9: Hawk, I also see here that Saladkin and Rob Conrad
- 8:07Speaker 9: did Dolphins game day, which began at 9 a.m. at
- 8:09Speaker 9: Sports Town outside Gate G at Dolphin Stadium.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I have zero recollection of that.
- 8:19Speaker 2: It was the Dolphin pregame show.
- 8:20Speaker 4: 9 a.m., armed with hindsight, was way too early for
- 8:24Speaker 4: a game that kicked off at 1 o'clock.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I mean... Do you remember that? Slotkin and Rob Conrad? Yes,
- 8:30Speaker 2: of course. Listen, for Slotkin, he filled a lot of roles.
- 8:33Speaker 4: And so for a radio station, a startup radio station,
- 8:36Speaker 4: to be able to have someone who could be the PD,
- 8:39Speaker 4: who can come in and eat a lean cuisine and
- 8:41Speaker 4: meet with his staff, and who could do a pregame
- 8:43Speaker 4: show and host a show and be a professional, Slotkin
- 8:46Speaker 4: was a guy who could fill a lot of roles.
- 8:48Speaker 4: And as you know, Hawk and Radio, that's a strength.
- 8:51Speaker 4: If you could fill a lot of roles... You have a.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Career in radio. I mean, that is the saddest lunch
- 8:55Speaker 2: I've ever heard of in my entire life. Crazy.
- 8:58Speaker 3: In the seven conference room, a lean cuisine.
- 9:01Speaker 2: In fairness, I wasn't paying him that much.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I will tell you, though. Well, it's funny. He mentioned
- 9:07Speaker 3: that to me. So as we were talking at the improv,
- 9:12Speaker 3: he said, yeah, I think I lasted like two years
- 9:15Speaker 3: as the program director. And he said, and then I
- 9:16Speaker 3: remember going in and meeting with Joel. My contract was up.
- 9:20Speaker 3: And he said, I said to Joel, OK, like, you know,
- 9:24Speaker 3: we did this heavy lifting at a discount. And now,
- 9:27Speaker 3: you know, and time to get paid.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 3: And he said, Joel kind of sat back in his
- 9:32Speaker 3: chair and and and said, well, we're going to give
- 9:35Speaker 3: you we would offer you this. And so I can
- 9:39Speaker 3: said he said to himself. yeah, I think this is
- 9:41Speaker 3: my time to exit.
- 9:45Speaker 2: He offered him less. So who took over as program
- 9:50Speaker 2: director then?
- 9:51Speaker 3: Wow.
- 9:52Speaker 4: After, uh, Alison, maybe it was Alison for a little bit.
- 9:56Speaker 4: And then eventually you obviously took over, right?
- 9:59Speaker 3: At some point well i took over but but lincoln
- 10:03Speaker 3: financial already owned it yes during the joel era the
- 10:06Speaker 3: primetime media era it was steve white It went Slotkin.
- 10:10Speaker 2: That's right.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Slotkin, Steve White, Allison, a cup of coffee as the PD,
- 10:15Speaker 4: and then Lincoln took over.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Dennis Collins made you the PD. I took over for
- 10:19Speaker 2: Steve White. I'm getting my timeline wrong.
- 10:21Speaker 3: I was the guy.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it may have been Allison. After Jason,
- 10:25Speaker 2: you're saying.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Allison was fantastic. She was, and
- 10:29Speaker 2: Jason was good too. He was terrific.
- 10:32Speaker 3: And I got to tell you, Jason Salatkin, I hadn't
- 10:34Speaker 3: seen him since 2006.
- 10:37Speaker 7: Right.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Looks terrific.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Really?
- 10:39Speaker 4: He has aged well. Well, that's what happens when you
- 10:41Speaker 4: get out of radio. I mean, and get into finance.
- 10:43Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Hawk, I meant to tell you this, and I'm not
- 10:48Speaker 4: certain if you're aware or not, but I did tell
- 10:51Speaker 4: the fake Jason Jackson.
- 10:52Speaker 2: We exchanged numbers.
- 10:54Speaker 4: I told him I was more excited to meet him
- 10:55Speaker 4: than he was meeting me because he was, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 4: he was a great little ancillary character on the show.
- 11:02Speaker 4: And then he asked me about you. I said, we're
- 11:05Speaker 4: doing a show together, a pod together with Stugatz and Hawk.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Go check it out.
- 11:08Speaker 2: And he did. And he sends me a text the
- 11:11Speaker 2: next day. Holy bleep.
- 11:13Speaker 4: You guys dedicated an entire episode to the fake Jim Mandich.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I'm flattered.
- 11:19Speaker 3: He was also the fake Jim Mandich. Wow. I know.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Talk about playing multiple roles at a radio station.
- 11:27Speaker 2: You got Slotkin.
- 11:28Speaker 3: You got the fake Jason Jackson, who's also the fake
- 11:30Speaker 3: Jim Mandis.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Yeah, so I told him, listen, perhaps I shouldn't have
- 11:34Speaker 4: done this, but I said, I think Hawk would be thrilled.
- 11:37Speaker 4: I know I would if you came on the show
- 11:39Speaker 4: with us one time.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I mean, thrilled is not even the word.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Time of your life, right?
- 11:46Speaker 3: Sexually aroused might be more appropriate. As long as you
- 11:52Speaker 3: talked with him, I'll read you a couple of DMS
- 11:54Speaker 3: that we've gotten from listeners of the program. You can
- 11:57Speaker 3: DM me on Instagram. It's radio Mark Hockman on Instagram.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Somebody says, can we please get a shirt with a
- 12:06Speaker 3: Sharpie in your mouth?
- 12:07Speaker 11: Oh yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Taylor looking board.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I just ordered my sports comic hoodie.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Thanks for all the laughs, you guys.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I am sitting here stuck in traffic right now laughing
- 12:17Speaker 3: my ass off.
- 12:18Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Taylor has not looked bored today. I will tell you that.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I don't know why, but he has not looked bored.
- 12:25Speaker 4: He's all perked up. He's smiling a little bit. I
- 12:28Speaker 4: don't know what, why. Are you not bored with us anymore?
- 12:30Speaker 11: I mean.
- 12:31Speaker 3: That's a good topic today. Really?
- 12:34Speaker 12: Jason Sulovkin and Jason Jackson.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Galeando at a mall.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Did you go to the show, Taylor?
- 12:43Speaker 9: No, I told Stu Gatz I have anything else to do.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Wow.
- 12:47Speaker 8: I know.
- 12:47Speaker 2: That's crazy. Insulting.
- 12:49Speaker 3: He's so good.
- 12:50Speaker 2: You talked about stage presence.
- 12:52Speaker 3: So one of my hot buttons that I love, it's
- 12:57Speaker 3: one of the reasons that I love working with Crowder.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I like people who can tell a story and control
- 13:04Speaker 3: a room from the moment they're there.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Yes.
- 13:08Speaker 2: From the jump.
- 13:09Speaker 3: And you mentioned the two comedians who performed before Caliendo.
- 13:12Speaker 3: And you can see the difference. Caliendo walks on stage.
- 13:16Speaker 8: Yes.
- 13:17Speaker 2: He owns the room from the jump. Yes.
- 13:21Speaker 3: You are enraptured in everything he's doing. And it's rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat.
- 13:28Speaker 3: It never slows down.
- 13:31Speaker 9: No.
- 13:31Speaker 3: And he's got complete control of the room. It's why
- 13:34Speaker 3: I say if you've never seen Caliendo live, You have to.
- 13:39Speaker 3: It is unlike most comic performances because there's no breather
- 13:45Speaker 3: in there.
- 13:45Speaker 2: No. And then you get to the end of it.
- 13:48Speaker 2: He does like an hour.
- 13:49Speaker 3: You get to the end of it.
- 13:49Speaker 2: You want more.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 13:51Speaker 2: You're not checking your watch.
- 13:53Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 13:53Speaker 7: Yes, yes.
- 13:54Speaker 3: So good at it.
- 13:56Speaker 4: So it's funny because the presence you're right there's just
- 13:59Speaker 4: a big difference between the main guy and and the
- 14:02Speaker 4: guys leading up uh my family loved it abby had
- 14:04Speaker 4: never she had listened to him on the radio show
- 14:07Speaker 4: she hadn't seen him in person i always tell her
- 14:09Speaker 4: you got to check out the faces and so when
- 14:12Speaker 4: he's doing de niro and the face looks exactly like
- 14:15Speaker 4: she was spooked out Amazing. Yeah, she loved it. And
- 14:19Speaker 4: Frank could have gone two hours. He didn't, but he
- 14:21Speaker 4: could have. It was just so good, Huck.
- 14:23Speaker 2: I love.
- 14:24Speaker 4: I don't know what he did on your show, but
- 14:27Speaker 4: I love how he started. Frank is such a great
- 14:29Speaker 4: storyteller and has a great... Obviously, a great sense of
- 14:32Speaker 4: humor when he's not doing the characters. The way that
- 14:35Speaker 4: he weaves his own voice... with the character's voice, with
- 14:39Speaker 4: his own storytelling.
- 14:40Speaker 2: It was marvelous. It was fantastic. I'm not saying I
- 14:43Speaker 2: had a low bar going in.
- 14:44Speaker 4: I just figured it was going to be like another
- 14:46Speaker 4: radio segment, and it wasn't, you know?
- 14:48Speaker 3: It is.
- 14:48Speaker 2: It's a remarkable performance. It really is. People have never
- 14:51Speaker 2: seen him.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Because I always take someone who hasn't seen him live,
- 14:54Speaker 3: and they're always like, I cannot believe he takes on
- 14:57Speaker 3: the persona facially of the characters he's do it uh
- 15:00Speaker 3: where do you and your wife fall on this because
- 15:02Speaker 3: frank was asking me where i wanted to sit and
- 15:04Speaker 3: i said listen if you put me in the front
- 15:06Speaker 3: row my wife is going to serve me up divorce
- 15:08Speaker 3: papers funny so he did say to me he said
- 15:12Speaker 3: where do you want to sit now we had gone
- 15:14Speaker 3: to see him a few months earlier in naples he
- 15:17Speaker 3: performed at a place called off the hook in naples
- 15:19Speaker 3: and so it was like a two-hour drive and i
- 15:21Speaker 3: met some friends of ours and uh same thing he
- 15:24Speaker 3: said where do you want to sit And I said,
- 15:26Speaker 3: where do you want me to sit? Do you want
- 15:29Speaker 3: to be in eyesight of me or do you want
- 15:32Speaker 3: me to kind of to just be somewhere? Yes. And
- 15:35Speaker 3: so he said, I'd rather have you in the middle
- 15:39Speaker 3: than up front. And so I said, yeah, that's perfect
- 15:43Speaker 3: with me. So for the show in Wellington last week,
- 15:46Speaker 3: we were against the wall.
- 15:48Speaker 8: Right.
- 15:48Speaker 2: That lifted it up. I'm guessing you were in the same.
- 15:51Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Same area.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:52Speaker 4: My wife just doesn't want Frank to like lock eyes.
- 15:54Speaker 4: And then all of a sudden he's riffing on Abby.
- 15:56Speaker 4: He's riffing on me. And Frank would do that. He goes,
- 16:00Speaker 4: should I give you a shout out? I said, don't
- 16:01Speaker 4: you dare.
- 16:02Speaker 3: After the show in the, in the backstage area, he
- 16:05Speaker 3: was working on his Hockman impressions for me.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Really?
- 16:09Speaker 10: Yes.
- 16:09Speaker 2: And it's just me over-pronunciating everything.
- 16:13Speaker 3: It's just like, and, and he's, and so I was
- 16:15Speaker 3: telling him like, cause sometimes I'll go back and listen
- 16:17Speaker 3: to this podcast. Yes.
- 16:18Speaker 2: And I hate the way that I talk.
- 16:20Speaker 8: Right.
- 16:20Speaker 2: I go, how, how the fuck can anyone listen to this?
- 16:23Speaker 3: Like, I'm like, just, I say to myself all the time, like,
- 16:26Speaker 3: just fucking say what you want to say. But I'm like, Oh,
- 16:30Speaker 3: and he's like, no stick with it. He's like, it's
- 16:33Speaker 3: what makes you, you, it's like, he's like, You have
- 16:37Speaker 3: something that works.
- 16:38Speaker 2: It cuts through all the rest.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Because I listen to it and I'm like, Jesus Christ,
- 16:43Speaker 3: like you don't have to make every word sound like
- 16:47Speaker 3: it's a island on its own.
- 16:52Speaker 9: Hawk, if Frank could work on a Stu Gatz impression,
- 16:55Speaker 9: Frank would probably be hosting the radio show soon.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Oh, yes.
- 16:59Speaker 4: We're getting to it.
- 17:02Speaker 3: He was debuting a little Stu Gatz for me. He
- 17:05Speaker 3: had a little bit of Stugatz for me. Really? And
- 17:06Speaker 3: then the more he did my impersonation, he kept saying,
- 17:10Speaker 3: it's starting to sound like Dan. He's like, I'm falling
- 17:13Speaker 3: into my Dan impersonation because Dan and I do have
- 17:15Speaker 3: some same vocal characteristics and tics. Yes.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Why do you care about that stuff so much, man?
- 17:22Speaker 4: I mean, just let it go, Hawk. We're getting older.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Who the fuck cares, man?
- 17:27Speaker 2: It's just annoying to listen to me.
- 17:29Speaker 6: Right.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I try to listen to the podcast. Well, then don't listen.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I don't know how anyone can sit through it. It's annoying.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I don't think most people like the sound of their
- 17:40Speaker 2: own voice.
- 17:41Speaker 4: They don't like how they look on TV.
- 17:43Speaker 2: They just don't like it.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I love the sound of my voice.
- 17:47Speaker 3: I hate the way that I over-pronunciate every word. Yes,
- 17:51Speaker 3: not a problem for me. I think it comes from
- 17:54Speaker 3: my name being Mark Hockman. And if you say it quickly,
- 17:58Speaker 3: it's Mark Cockman.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I didn't want to.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Be Mark Cockman growing up. So I would go, what's
- 18:03Speaker 3: your name? Oh, it's Mark Cockman. Yes. You know what
- 18:06Speaker 3: I mean? Like very old. And I think that's where
- 18:08Speaker 3: I got it from.
- 18:09Speaker 4: There's an expectation that comes with Mark Cockman, isn't there?
- 18:13Speaker 2: I mean.
- 18:13Speaker 3: And I can't meet that expectation. Well, I certainly didn't
- 18:16Speaker 3: with Wiener.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I mean.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Here's another DM speaking of listening to this podcast. And
- 18:26Speaker 2: he says, I mean, tears.
- 18:29Speaker 3: This is the only podcast I listened to at one
- 18:32Speaker 3: time speed. Everything else is three and a half times speed.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Now this guy should actually listen to us at three
- 18:37Speaker 3: and a half times speed. Cause then I would sound
- 18:39Speaker 3: like I was talking normally. I don't want to, I
- 18:43Speaker 3: don't want to miss anything. Thanks for responding. I will
- 18:45Speaker 3: be going to horse muffins shortly. Best of luck to
- 18:48Speaker 3: your son. Appreciate that and appreciate you listening to the
- 18:51Speaker 3: pod at actual speed. Horsemuffins.com is my son's website where
- 18:56Speaker 3: I sell merch for this show. In fact, I'm wearing
- 18:58Speaker 3: a Hockman, Crowder, Solana, and Jimmy hoodie right now. DJ
- 19:03Speaker 3: has added to the merch site, I think, maybe the
- 19:07Speaker 3: greatest item since the clock that we talked about in
- 19:12Speaker 3: a past episode.
- 19:13Speaker 7: Yes.
- 19:14Speaker 3: He has added, you can now buy Sam Snead, my God,
- 19:18Speaker 3: golf balls.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 19:22Speaker 3: What? So it's a pack of six golf balls. I
- 19:26Speaker 3: don't know how much golf balls cost. He can only
- 19:28Speaker 3: do it based on what the shop charges him. And
- 19:31Speaker 3: then he adds, like he's making, I think five or
- 19:34Speaker 3: $ 6 on every golf ball. So I think it's $ 29.
- 19:38Speaker 3: I don't know if $ 29 is too much for six
- 19:40Speaker 3: golf balls, but to be able to play golf, And
- 19:44Speaker 3: be look for your be looking for your ball and
- 19:46Speaker 3: it's a sam sneed my god and it says alambardo
- 19:50Speaker 3: like it's attributed to alambardo yes i think it may
- 19:53Speaker 3: be the greatest item that i've ever put on one
- 19:56Speaker 3: of these stores.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Did you say two sleeves of golf balls two so
- 19:59Speaker 4: six balls total six ball okay so uh and how
- 20:02Speaker 4: much $ 29.
- 20:04Speaker 3: I think, is the total. DJ makes $ 6 off that.
- 20:09Speaker 3: His cost is $ 23.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Right. Okay.
- 20:11Speaker 3: So, Taylor, what do you think? You're a golfer.
- 20:14Speaker 4: That feels like a lot for six golf balls, but
- 20:16Speaker 4: they are special, limited-edition golf balls. No one in your
- 20:20Speaker 4: foursome is going to have Sam Sneed, my God, golf ball.
- 20:25Speaker 3: It's worth the price, I think.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Rachel is still getting to our merch store. The apple
- 20:31Speaker 4: doesn't fall far from the tree. I just told her
- 20:34Speaker 4: to make sure when she does it, tell everyone that
- 20:37Speaker 4: every single item in the store is limited edition, even
- 20:40Speaker 4: though it's not.
- 20:42Speaker 2: We only got a hundred of these. Great sales tactic.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Well, if you want the golf balls or a Stugatz
- 20:48Speaker 3: and Hawk shirt or any of that stuff, my son
- 20:50Speaker 3: would genuinely appreciate it.
- 20:52Speaker 2: It's horse muffins.com.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Uh, another DM we got, I mean, the whole exposition
- 20:59Speaker 3: of the Leroy Jenkins episode with the punchline coming from
- 21:03Speaker 3: fake Tim Hardaway, uh, Was a master class of storytelling.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Perfectly played. You guys are great.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Appreciate that. Yes.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Also, I want to get to a couple of Caliendo
- 21:15Speaker 3: clips so we don't go too long here. But somebody
- 21:19Speaker 3: DM this to me this morning. Again, you can DM
- 21:21Speaker 3: me any questions for the pod. Radio Mark Hockman on Instagram.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Guy says, hey, Hock, I think this was after your time.
- 21:28Speaker 3: But I'd love to hear Stu talk about the lie
- 21:30Speaker 3: detector segments with the Miami detective. Yes.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Knowing now how thin-skinned.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Dan is, I want to hear about when they asked
- 21:38Speaker 3: Stu if he wanted to do his own show on
- 21:41Speaker 3: WFAN or with Golic. and he failed the lie detector test,
- 21:46Speaker 3: that must have driven Dan up a wall.
- 21:49Speaker 2: That's obviously after my time. So what happened? You had
- 21:52Speaker 2: to subject yourself to a lie detector?
- 21:55Speaker 4: Yeah, so we actually had a guy who does this
- 21:57Speaker 4: for a living, and he performed a lie detector test
- 22:00Speaker 4: on me.
- 22:01Speaker 2: They asked me, you know, a bunch of questions.
- 22:04Speaker 3: You know what?
- 22:04Speaker 4: I think we should do this as an episode because
- 22:06Speaker 4: we have done an episode before about some things we
- 22:09Speaker 4: did after you left the show. And I think me
- 22:12Speaker 4: taking you through the lie detector and things I'm thinking
- 22:15Speaker 4: and Dan getting angry at stuff that I was saying,
- 22:19Speaker 4: answers I was getting. would make for a very good
- 22:21Speaker 4: episode for both of us. I think that would be enjoyable.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm interested in that. Like, did you have to
- 22:25Speaker 3: get strong-armed into doing that? Did you want to do that?
- 22:28Speaker 3: Because you knew it was going to be a, like,
- 22:30Speaker 3: you know going in, that's going to be a bit
- 22:32Speaker 3: where everyone jumps on you for being a liar.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but they already were. So I didn't care. And
- 22:38Speaker 2: it actually came out.
- 22:39Speaker 4: It looked, you know, a lot of the things I
- 22:41Speaker 4: was saying, the guy's like, wow, he's telling the truth.
- 22:44Speaker 2: He's telling the truth.
- 22:45Speaker 4: He's telling the truth, which disappointed Dan because he wanted
- 22:47Speaker 4: everything to be a lie.
- 22:51Speaker 3: But Hawk, here's what I knew. And I think you
- 22:53Speaker 3: and I kind of share this. Right.
- 22:56Speaker 4: It was such a good idea. And I knew it
- 22:59Speaker 4: would be a great segment for the radio. And I
- 23:02Speaker 4: knew on ESPN radio, no one's doing this, right? And
- 23:06Speaker 4: this is like the height of our powers. And so
- 23:08Speaker 4: I'm not thinking about my wife, my family. I probably
- 23:10Speaker 4: should have been. I'm just thinking, wow, this is going
- 23:13Speaker 4: to be a great segment. This is going to be
- 23:15Speaker 4: something that our listeners tuned into. He was there for
- 23:18Speaker 4: an hour, and it turned out to be fantastic. So
- 23:20Speaker 4: when I was asked, they didn't have to strong arm
- 23:22Speaker 4: me into it. I was just thinking, wow, that's a
- 23:25Speaker 4: good idea. That's great content.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Content, you know? It's a great radio band.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 23:28Speaker 2: That's a great radio band.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Yes. All right, let's play a clip here from Caliendo.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Good time seeing him.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I know he was on your radio show. He was
- 23:37Speaker 3: on my radio show as well.
- 23:39Speaker 4: I just answered the guy's question. Dan was mad.
- 23:42Speaker 11: Was he mad that you were lying about wanting to
- 23:46Speaker 11: do a show on FAN?
- 23:47Speaker 8: Yes.
- 23:47Speaker 2: I mean, he knew I wanted to do a show
- 23:49Speaker 2: on WFAN. He also knew I wanted to do a
- 23:51Speaker 2: show with Golik. I mean, I don't know why I lied.
- 23:53Speaker 7: Right.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Let's see. Would I like to come in here four
- 23:58Speaker 3: hours every day and be punched in the face for
- 24:01Speaker 3: four straight hours? Or would I like to laugh and
- 24:03Speaker 3: giggle for four hours with a couple guys who treat
- 24:06Speaker 3: me as an equal?
- 24:07Speaker 2: Um....
- 24:10Speaker 4: Or just take calls from Joe in the Bronx on
- 24:13Speaker 4: a car phone talking about the Mets pitching change in
- 24:16Speaker 4: the fourth inning of game 72.
- 24:18Speaker 2: I mean, heaven. Time of your life.
- 24:23Speaker 6: Yes.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Here is, we used to do these web shows. So
- 24:27Speaker 3: when we would go to commercial break, this is in
- 24:30Speaker 3: the first few years of the Levitard show. People who
- 24:33Speaker 3: listen to us online would get a treat. You couldn't
- 24:36Speaker 3: play the commercials online. And this was before the days
- 24:40Speaker 3: where radio companies would insert their own commercials when you listened.
- 24:45Speaker 2: To a show online. So there was just silence most
- 24:48Speaker 2: of the time.
- 24:49Speaker 3: So instead of the silence, you and I and guys
- 24:52Speaker 3: in the studio would sometimes talk to the listeners who
- 24:55Speaker 3: were listening online. We would literally just hop on. We
- 24:57Speaker 3: would take our microphones off the air so it was
- 25:00Speaker 3: only the streamers who were listening.
- 25:02Speaker 12: Yes.
- 25:04Speaker 3: I also would produce some web show episodes that were, say,
- 25:10Speaker 3: a commercial break was five minutes long. I would produce
- 25:12Speaker 3: a web show episode that was five minutes. So then
- 25:15Speaker 3: we'd go to commercial break, and I would fire it off,
- 25:17Speaker 3: and it was just for the web listeners.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 25:18Speaker 3: So you'll hear the big voice introduced. This is how
- 25:21Speaker 3: the web listeners would hear it. But this is Caliendo and–
- 25:27Speaker 3: Do you remember us being fascinated.
- 25:29Speaker 2: With the movie Over the Top with Sylvester Stallone?
- 25:31Speaker 3: Oh, yes.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I mean, Lincoln Hawk.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Right, and there was a scene in there. Do you
- 25:36Speaker 3: remember the scene?
- 25:37Speaker 2: He says, damn you.
- 25:38Speaker 8: No.
- 25:41Speaker 3: The response is, no, damn you. And Dan was enamored
- 25:51Speaker 3: with that screenplay. Damn you, no, damn you. And so
- 25:57Speaker 3: we asked Caliendo in all different characters to do those lines.
- 26:01Speaker 3: This is what it sounded like.
- 26:03Speaker 13: You're listening to the Dan Levitard Show Online. Sports Talk
- 26:06Speaker 13: 790 is in.
- 26:07Speaker 11: A commercial break right now, so please enjoy this crappy
- 26:11Speaker 11: moment from a past show.
- 26:13Speaker 14: Frank Caliendo loves the pop culture. He's also got Frank TV.
- 26:18Speaker 14: He's got his own television show coming to TBS. But
- 26:20Speaker 14: here's what we got right now, Stugatz. We've got all
- 26:23Speaker 14: Frank Caliendo's and all his characters in a waiting room.
- 26:26Speaker 14: And they're going to audition, Stugatz, because Over the Top
- 26:29Speaker 14: 2 is in production now, an arm wrestling movie. And
- 26:32Speaker 14: they're looking for someone who can summon the thespian spirit
- 26:36Speaker 14: of Sylvester Stallone in this clip.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Let's listen to this real quick.
- 26:41Speaker 6: Damn you!
- 26:45Speaker 14: And it's unbelievable, the characters who are here for this, Stugatz,
- 26:48Speaker 14: to audition for the part, the damn you, the seismic
- 26:51Speaker 14: damn you part. Big time names, right? Big names are.
- 26:54Speaker 3: In the waiting room. They're going to audition for us now.
- 26:56Speaker 14: Let's give that to Frank one more time so he
- 26:58Speaker 14: sees how Sylvester Stallone really goes to a deep thespian
- 27:02Speaker 14: place to summon his retort.
- 27:08Speaker 3: So you see that.
- 27:09Speaker 14: And they're intimidated. But these are pros. Stop snorting, Caliendo.
- 27:13Speaker 14: Who is over there? Al Pacino's the first in the room, Stugatz.
- 27:17Speaker 3: This is it.
- 27:17Speaker 14: It's a real quick audition. Just come in and come out.
- 27:20Speaker 14: You got to summon it, the spirit of it. So
- 27:22Speaker 14: let's see what you got, Al Pacino.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Feed me the line, Danny.
- 27:26Speaker 8: Damn you!
- 27:27Speaker 7: Damn you.
- 27:29Speaker 3: That's all right. You're dismissed, Al Pacino.
- 27:33Speaker 7: I want to try it again.
- 27:34Speaker 8: All right.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Hold on a second. Ready?
- 27:35Speaker 14: You don't get do-overs, but because you're the legendary Al Pacino,
- 27:38Speaker 14: we'll give you a chance.
- 27:39Speaker 6: You're the one doing over.
- 27:40Speaker 7: I'm just following up.
- 27:41Speaker 13: Damn you.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Damn you! Damn you! I figured it'd be great for
- 27:51Speaker 3: you as a screamer.
- 27:52Speaker 7: Well, got a kid sleeping in the other room.
- 27:56Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 27:58Speaker 8: I do, I got twins.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Damn you!
- 28:03Speaker 3: Alright, that's a little better. How about Jim Rome?
- 28:07Speaker 8: Damn you!
- 28:09Speaker 2: Read me the line. I'm sorry I didn't get.
- 28:11Speaker 3: It the way I wanted to. Damn you.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Oh, damn you.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Ted Knight.
- 28:19Speaker 7: Beat it, Danny.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Damn you.
- 28:22Speaker 2: First, how can I do this?
- 28:23Speaker 7: I'm dead.
- 28:25Speaker 2: We know.
- 28:26Speaker 3: We know. We've established that.
- 28:29Speaker 7: A lot of laughing for a mediocre segment, guys.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Let's go. Damn you.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Damn you.
- 28:36Speaker 3: How about Bill Walton?
- 28:40Speaker 2: Damn you.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Damn you, Bill Walton. Unbelievable that you would try damnation
- 28:45Speaker 3: on me when it's always coming back to damn you.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Adam Sandler. Damn you, Adam Sandler.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Damn you.
- 28:57Speaker 8: You jackass.
- 28:58Speaker 3: How about Marv Albert? Damn you, Marv Albert. Damn you.
- 29:03Speaker 3: That was terrible.
- 29:04Speaker 7: I'm not officially trained.
- 29:09Speaker 3: That was really bad, though. Schwarzenegger. Damn you, Schwarzenegger.
- 29:13Speaker 8: Get down.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Incredibly limited Schwarzenegger.
- 29:17Speaker 7: Damn you.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Chris Rock, damn you, Chris Rock.
- 29:20Speaker 8: Damn you.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Jeff Goldblum, damn you.
- 29:24Speaker 8: Oh, hello, hello, hello, goodbye.
- 29:27Speaker 7: That's what I'd be thinking. Damn you.
- 29:35Speaker 3: Is John Madden there?
- 29:36Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I've been listening to this crap.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Damn you, Madden.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Damn you.
- 29:43Speaker 14: Why don't you say it madden saying son of a
- 29:46Speaker 14: bitch would be funny.
- 29:47Speaker 8: Oh that's okay yes son of a bitch.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Madden cursing is funny.
- 29:53Speaker 8: Oh yeah you should hear some of the things i
- 29:54Speaker 8: say when i'm off the phone here.
- 29:55Speaker 14: All right uh pacino want another shot at it yeah
- 29:59Speaker 14: feed it to me Damn you.
- 30:00Speaker 7: Damn you!
- 30:04Speaker 3: Really wasn't worth it coming back to him.
- 30:06Speaker 8: Why not?
- 30:07Speaker 3: Because I thought you were going to throw.
- 30:08Speaker 13: A hoo-ah in there.
- 30:09Speaker 3: Oh, no, that's hacky. League of Heroes guy there?
- 30:13Speaker 8: Meanwhile, somewhere in another conversation.
- 30:16Speaker 14: Clever as always. Frank Caliendo. Frank TV starts on TBS
- 30:20Speaker 14: in November. It's going to be great. Frankie, good talking
- 30:22Speaker 14: to you, buddy.
- 30:25Speaker 2: So good, right?
- 30:26Speaker 4: I forgot about the fake League of Your Own guy. Oh,
- 30:30Speaker 4: my God. Yeah, League of Justice guy.
- 30:32Speaker 2: The League of Justice guy, yes.
- 30:34Speaker 3: And that was a running joke, the Ted Knight thing.
- 30:37Speaker 3: It became a running joke on the show where every
- 30:39Speaker 3: time Dan would have.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Him do Ted Knight, he would go, I'm dead, Danny.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Dan was like, okay, we got it.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Just do the Ted Knight voice.
- 30:47Speaker 4: For me, the most underrated of all the characters with
- 30:49Speaker 4: Frank Caliendo was Jeff Goldblum.
- 30:51Speaker 2: It's so good. It's so great. So good. Just dead on.
- 30:58Speaker 3: What I looked for here was stuff that was just
- 31:01Speaker 3: out of the ordinary, because I think people have heard
- 31:02Speaker 3: a lot of the Caliendo clips that I would consider
- 31:05Speaker 3: classics on the show. This one I found. We never
- 31:09Speaker 3: played this stuff. The Heat had beaten....
- 31:13Speaker 2: Who'd they beat in 06 for their first championship?
- 31:15Speaker 3: Was that the Mavericks? It was the Mavericks, yes. So
- 31:18Speaker 3: the Heat had won their first championship in 06. So
- 31:21Speaker 3: I had this idea, let's have Caliendo congratulate the Miami
- 31:25Speaker 3: Heat as all his different characters, and I'll drop that
- 31:30Speaker 3: in throughout the program for the next couple of weeks.
- 31:33Speaker 3: And I had Andy King call Caliendo to do this.
- 31:36Speaker 3: So you get to hear Andy King say, So this
- 31:40Speaker 3: is before Mike Ryan.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Right. Yes. Yes.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Andy is my associate producer at this point, and he's
- 31:48Speaker 3: getting Caliendo to congratulate the Miami Heat as his characters.
- 31:53Speaker 7: Congratulations. Hey, Miami Heat. It's me, Al Pacino. And congratulations
- 32:01Speaker 7: on winning the biggest game of all, the Super Bowl.
- 32:06Speaker 7: Super Bowl champions. Miami Heat.
- 32:09Speaker 3: What?
- 32:11Speaker 7: NBA Finals champions. NBA. It's fantastic. They still say.
- 32:24Speaker 3: That?
- 32:24Speaker 2: That's good. All right.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Now you're going to break off a little 10-night?
- 32:31Speaker 7: Yeah. All right. Miami Heat, how are you? It's me,
- 32:37Speaker 7: Ted Knight from beyond the grave, calling in to say, oh, oh, oh, oh, congratulations, hmm, hmm, hmm.
- 32:45Speaker 7: Would you like a fresco? Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
- 32:54Speaker 2: You got anybody else you want to throw into the fire?
- 32:57Speaker 7: Anything you can think of, whatever you want.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Can I get a little Bobby D?
- 33:01Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 33:04Speaker 8: Miami Heat, very nice of you.
- 33:05Speaker 7: Very nice of you to send the Mavericks home, huh?
- 33:08Speaker 8: I guess they were home.
- 33:09Speaker 7: They didn't have much to go. They didn't have a
- 33:11Speaker 7: long way to go.
- 33:12Speaker 2: No, they did not.
- 33:13Speaker 7: You can edit that for me, Andy.
- 33:15Speaker 8: That will be edited.
- 33:16Speaker 6: If not, we'll be dead, huh?
- 33:18Speaker 8: You hear me?
- 33:19Speaker 7: I mixed up a couple words, a little misplacement here, huh?
- 33:23Speaker 8: You hear me? Dead.
- 33:24Speaker 5: All right, let me ask one last one for you, buddy.
- 33:30Speaker 5: Either as, I know Hawk loves your Adam Sandler. If
- 33:36Speaker 5: there's a way to make Adam Sandler do this, that'd
- 33:37Speaker 5: be great. See my new movie, Click.
- 33:40Speaker 6: Hey, how are you? How are you doing? This is
- 33:44Speaker 6: Adam Sandler, and I just wanted to say congratulations to
- 33:48Speaker 6: the Miami Heat there for pulling off what some might
- 33:52Speaker 6: call an upset, or what I would call.
- 33:54Speaker 7: A travesty to the game.
- 33:57Speaker 8: Miami Heat, you guys destroyed the Dallas Mavericks.
- 34:02Speaker 7: Mavericks, you're like an old TV show.
- 34:06Speaker 6: You're not on anymore.
- 34:09Speaker 9: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Frank.
- 34:16Speaker 8: All right, my man, we'll talk to you soon.
- 34:17Speaker 2: That was awesome. I appreciate you helping us out. All right, dude,
- 34:21Speaker 2: I love you.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Such a testament to Caliendo for doing that, because now...
- 34:26Speaker 3: I got the audience that he's normally, but douche or
- 34:30Speaker 3: no douche, Andy wanting him to do De Niro and saying,
- 34:35Speaker 3: how about rocking off a little Bobby D?
- 34:39Speaker 2: Total douche. But if you know Andy, par for the course.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Andy, you're obligated to laugh when you're doing that with Frank,
- 34:46Speaker 4: even if you don't find it funny.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Yes. Listen, I recognize fake laughter when I hear it.
- 34:54Speaker 4: I also marvel at how quickly Frank can go from
- 34:57Speaker 4: a character just back to being Frank.
- 34:58Speaker 2: All right, see you later.
- 34:59Speaker 8: Bye.
- 34:59Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 35:01Speaker 3: I love that. That has to be exhausting for him.
- 35:06Speaker 2: You want to talk about exhausting?
- 35:07Speaker 3: Well, let me play. I got two more clips, and
- 35:09Speaker 3: then we'll wrap up the podcast. This is a quickie,
- 35:11Speaker 3: and this is one of the legendary clips, I think.
- 35:14Speaker 3: I just happen to love it. It's one of my favorites.
- 35:16Speaker 3: You know, everybody loves the Donkey Kong one. with Pacino,
- 35:20Speaker 3: but how about George Bush and Al Pacino going through
- 35:23Speaker 3: the McDonald's drive-thru?
- 35:26Speaker 8: Yes, I'd like a.
- 35:28Speaker 11: Just get the eggs.
- 35:30Speaker 8: Get the deluxe breakfast.
- 35:32Speaker 7: Come on.
- 35:33Speaker 3: You're tying me up.
- 35:34Speaker 8: I want those McMuffin things with the egg. It's an
- 35:38Speaker 8: Egg McMuffin, Jackass.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Think about it.
- 35:42Speaker 8: Egg, what's it called? Egg McMuffin, I said. An Egg
- 35:46Speaker 8: McMuffin with sausage.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Good job.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Now on to me.
- 35:51Speaker 8: No, I'm not done yet. I would also like an OJ. Dude,
- 35:55Speaker 8: guess what?
- 35:56Speaker 2: I'm in the car, too.
- 35:57Speaker 7: Nice Ornithol reference.
- 35:58Speaker 8: Oh, God.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Legendary, man.
- 36:03Speaker 3: The reason I love that is we just were giving
- 36:07Speaker 3: him absurd scenarios. Yes. Hey, you're at a McDonald's drive-thru,
- 36:12Speaker 3: and it's George Bush and Al Pacino.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 36:14Speaker 3: They have no business being together at a McDonald's drive-thru.
- 36:17Speaker 7: Yes.
- 36:17Speaker 3: He's having the conversation just off the dome. That's not scripted.
- 36:21Speaker 8: Right.
- 36:21Speaker 3: And then he makes an OJ reference. He brings Jim
- 36:24Speaker 3: Roman to it. I mean, it's just brilliant.
- 36:26Speaker 4: I always thought it was one of the better ideas
- 36:27Speaker 4: we had for Caliendo because we had him on so
- 36:30Speaker 4: often and he couldn't keep doing the same exact thing
- 36:33Speaker 4: and expect us to have the same exact reaction. And
- 36:35Speaker 4: so we came up with those scenarios.
- 36:38Speaker 2: And I think we had callers who would call.
- 36:39Speaker 4: It and they would say, hey, give me so-and-so and
- 36:42Speaker 4: so-and-so doing this, you know.
- 36:44Speaker 3: Real quick, he's in the studio. You give him the
- 36:47Speaker 3: script for the sports flash and Dan just blurts out
- 36:51Speaker 3: which characters he wants him to do the sports flash as.
- 36:54Speaker 5: Yes.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Now, a 790, the ticket, Sports Flash.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Ted Knight, give it to me, Ted Knight.
- 37:02Speaker 15: The Florida Marlins approve their record to 11-6 this spring
- 37:05Speaker 15: with a 13-7 victory over the St.
- 37:07Speaker 13: Louis Cardinals.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Harry Carey.
- 37:09Speaker 16: Hey, from Dodger Dean's Roger Dean Stadium and Jupiter George
- 37:14Speaker 16: Cantu and Cameron Maben hit back-to-back home runs of the fourth.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Bill Walton. It was that.
- 37:21Speaker 1: was the first of two homers in the day for Maben.
- 37:25Speaker 1: He finished the day two for five with four ribbies.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Luis Gonzalez went deep in the sixth, and I still
- 37:32Speaker 1: have spit.
- 37:32Speaker 3: All over me from Harry Carey.
- 37:34Speaker 10: A three-run shot to give the Marlins the lead for good.
- 37:38Speaker 10: The Florida Panthers go for their fifth straight victory tonight
- 37:41Speaker 10: as the Cats host the New York Islanders. Face-off is
- 37:44Speaker 10: set for 7.30 from the Bank Atlantic Center.
- 37:46Speaker 2: That'll be incredible. Creamer!
- 37:48Speaker 17: Our coverage here at 7.90. The ticket begins at 7
- 37:50Speaker 17: with the Panthers preview. Both teams enter this matchup with
- 37:54Speaker 17: only 11 games remaining with the Panthers currently tied for
- 37:57Speaker 17: 10th in the Eastern Conference.
- 37:58Speaker 12: Oh! Two points.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Adam Sandler.
- 38:01Speaker 17: Seven points behind the Philadelphia Flyers for the eighth and
- 38:04Speaker 17: final playoff spot.
- 38:06Speaker 2: The Miami Heat look.

- 38:10Speaker 16: the New York Knicks.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Tip off is set for 7.30. From the AAA, the
- 38:18Speaker 3: high heat will be without the services of Power Forward, Udonis. Bark!
- 38:24Speaker 13: That's crazy. I can't even say Adonis Heisman. That's terrible.
- 38:28Speaker 13: He did a center Earl Barron. Is it Barron?
- 38:31Speaker 3: Barron.
- 38:32Speaker 13: Who gives a crap? I don't care about this guy.
- 38:34Speaker 13: As well as point guard Marcus Banks due to various injuries.
- 38:38Speaker 11: Head coach Pat Riley said earlier today at a shoot-around
- 38:41Speaker 11: that he will misfight his game with the Orlando Magic.
- 38:43Speaker 13: Oh, that's just too bad.
- 38:44Speaker 3: League of Justice, guys.
- 38:45Speaker 11: So he can continue to prepare for the upcoming NBA draft.
- 38:50Speaker 11: Over to college basketball, where the first round of the
- 38:52Speaker 11: Big East Tournament is underway from Madison Square Garden. Two
- 38:55Speaker 11: games have gone final. Villanova defeats Syracuse 82-63. West Virginia
