- 0:19Speaker 1: Creative Mind by Ernest Schertliff Holmes, Part one introduction. The
- 0:26Speaker 1: hand of eternal progress is brushing the cobwebs from the
- 0:29Speaker 1: corridors of time and is again revealing to the human
- 0:33Speaker 1: race the mysteries of being. As there is nothing new
- 0:36Speaker 1: under the sun. The searchlight of truth is bringing to
- 0:40Speaker 1: light only what has been known to the few in
- 0:42Speaker 1: all generations. The time is now come when the few
- 0:46Speaker 1: must become the many. The whole world, from the least
- 0:50Speaker 1: to the greatest, must know the truth, so that man
- 0:52Speaker 1: may understand the great laws that govern his life. He
- 0:56Speaker 1: must learn to control his own destiny, to heal his
- 1:00Speaker 1: his own body, and bring happiness to his own soul.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Ignorance must vanish, and understanding must be ushered in. Man
- 1:07Speaker 1: is no longer to be governed by anything outside himself. Creeds, doctrines, churches, institutions, organizations,
- 1:17Speaker 1: governments are all being changed to give place to the
- 1:20Speaker 1: realization of the individual. There is a power in and
- 1:24Speaker 1: through all that is working this great transformation. All that
- 1:28Speaker 1: will not measure up to the standard must fall by
- 1:31Speaker 1: its own weight. All that is in line with the
- 1:34Speaker 1: truth must still prosper. The time is at hand. We
- 1:38Speaker 1: are in the greatest age of all history. We are
- 1:41Speaker 1: in the age of the unifying of all people and
- 1:44Speaker 1: all things into the ever present one. The temple not
- 1:48Speaker 1: made with hands is now being silently builded by the
- 1:52Speaker 1: emancipated souls of this planet. This little book is an
- 1:56Speaker 1: attempt to explain what each soul must discover for himself.
- 2:00Speaker 1: That he stands in the midst of an eternal creative
- 2:03Speaker 1: power which presses itself around his own thought and casts
- 2:07Speaker 1: back to him glorified all that he thinks, if it
- 2:10Speaker 1: awakens within the consciousness of one single individual, the realization
- 2:15Speaker 1: that the mind of the universe, which is the only
- 2:18Speaker 1: mind that there is, is his own mind, That the
- 2:21Speaker 1: creative power of this mind is his also, that the
- 2:25Speaker 1: manifestation of this mind is his own individuality, That the
- 2:30Speaker 1: love and power and peace of this mind is within himself.
- 2:33Speaker 1: It will not be written in vain. May it then,
- 2:37Speaker 1: do much in simplifying and bringing to light some of
- 2:40Speaker 1: the deeper mysteries and meanings of life. Ernest Shirtliff Holmes,
- 2:44Speaker 1: October first, nineteen eighteen. In the beginning, In the beginning,
- 2:51Speaker 1: God clear and expressive are these words. In the beginning
- 2:56Speaker 1: God only, no manifest universe, no system of planets, nothing
- 3:02Speaker 1: of form or life, of brute or man. God was
- 3:06Speaker 1: the spirit of all that was to be, But he
- 3:09Speaker 1: had not yet moved upon the waters. Then this all
- 3:13Speaker 1: being moved or began to create. Where did spirit move upon?
- 3:18Speaker 1: What did it move to create? Where did it get
- 3:21Speaker 1: a pattern? What means or power did it employ through
- 3:25Speaker 1: what agencies did it work? In short, what is the
- 3:29Speaker 1: world ourselves included made out of? And how did we
- 3:33Speaker 1: and all else come into being? These questions, correctly answered,
- 3:38Speaker 1: would solve the problem of being and set men free.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Let us consider the Spirit was all. There was nothing
- 3:46Speaker 1: else but itself, all inclusive, everywhere, infinite. This all Spirit
- 3:52Speaker 1: could not have had the impulse to move unless it
- 3:55Speaker 1: were self conscious. Therefore, the spirit is the power that
- 3:59Speaker 1: knows its It is accordingly all knowing, as well as
- 4:03Speaker 1: all present being one undivided. Whatever it knows, it knows
- 4:09Speaker 1: all over instantly. We find then that the spirit operates
- 4:14Speaker 1: through self, knowing it moves, and that inner movement must
- 4:18Speaker 1: be one of infinite power, moving upon itself. Since it
- 4:23Speaker 1: is all and with a definite purpose. The Spirit then
- 4:27Speaker 1: moves upon itself and makes out of itself all that
- 4:31Speaker 1: is made. In other words, what we see comes from
- 4:35Speaker 1: what we do not see, through some inner intelligence at work,
- 4:39Speaker 1: which knows there is no power but itself. The things
- 4:43Speaker 1: that are seen are not made of the things that
- 4:45Speaker 1: do appear. The only possible operation of intelligence is thought
- 4:50Speaker 1: or the word. So all things were made by the word,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and without the word was not anything made that hath
- 4:57Speaker 1: been made. How simple the pro of creation when we
- 5:01Speaker 1: understand it. The Spirit speaks, And since there is nothing
- 5:06Speaker 1: but the spirit, and it is all power, it has
- 5:09Speaker 1: only to speak, and it is done. The Word was
- 5:12Speaker 1: with God, and the Word was God. From the Word,
- 5:16Speaker 1: then comes forth all that appears, each life, human or divine,
- 5:21Speaker 1: Each manifestation is a different kind of word coming into expression.
- 5:26Speaker 1: The great fact to dwell upon is that spirit needs
- 5:29Speaker 1: nothing to help it. It is self conscious and has
- 5:33Speaker 1: all power and all ability to do whatever it wishes
- 5:36Speaker 1: to accomplish. It operates simply by speaking. It is hard
- 5:41Speaker 1: to get a clear concept of this great ceaseless cause,
- 5:45Speaker 1: this something from which all things come. At times we
- 5:48Speaker 1: get into a maze of confusion when we attempt to
- 5:51Speaker 1: realize what the Spirit means. It is then that we
- 5:54Speaker 1: should think of it as the great reason behind everything.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Being all knowledge, it must know itself and must know
- 6:01Speaker 1: everything it creates, so it knows us and it knows everyone.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Since it is all presents, we can contact anywhere and
- 6:10Speaker 1: will never have to go to some particular spot to
- 6:13Speaker 1: find it. As it is all knowing and operates through
- 6:17Speaker 1: the power of the word, it knows everything we think.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Just how it creates we cannot know and need not
- 6:24Speaker 1: attempt to understand. For whatever this process of creation is,
- 6:29Speaker 1: we find it is always an inner thought process. We
- 6:32Speaker 1: should keep this in mind. The Spirit makes all things
- 6:36Speaker 1: out of itself. Everything comes into being without effort, and
- 6:40Speaker 1: when we exert ourselves we are not in accord with
- 6:43Speaker 1: the creative spirit in the way in which it works.
- 6:47Speaker 1: The impulse of the spirit to move must be caused
- 6:49Speaker 1: by a desire to express what it feels itself to
- 6:52Speaker 1: be beauty, form, color, life, love and power, all things
- 6:59Speaker 1: else we find in the manifest universe are attributes of
- 7:02Speaker 1: the spirit and are cause to spring into being through
- 7:05Speaker 1: the word, because the spirit wants to enjoy itself. We
- 7:10Speaker 1: find then that the word, which is the inner activity
- 7:13Speaker 1: of thought, comes first in the creative series, and all
- 7:17Speaker 1: else comes from the effect of the word operating upon
- 7:20Speaker 1: a universal substance. If the word precedes all else, then
- 7:25Speaker 1: the word is what we are looking for, and when
- 7:28Speaker 1: we get it, we shall have what the world has
- 7:30Speaker 1: sought from time immemorial. We must, if we wish to
- 7:34Speaker 1: prove the power of the Spirit in our lives, look
- 7:37Speaker 1: not to outside things or effects, but to the word alone.
- 7:42Speaker 1: The human eye sees, and the human hand touches only
- 7:45Speaker 1: that which is an effect. Unseen. Law controls everything, But
- 7:50Speaker 1: this law is also an effect. Law did not make itself.
- 7:55Speaker 1: The law is not intelligence or causation. Before there can
- 7:59Speaker 1: be a lie law, there must be something that acts,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and the law is the way it acts. It is intelligence.
- 8:07Speaker 1: In the beginning was the word. This word, or the
- 8:10Speaker 1: activity of the spirit, is the cause of the law,
- 8:13Speaker 1: and the law, in its place, is the cause of
- 8:16Speaker 1: the thing. And the thing is always an effect. That is,
- 8:20Speaker 1: it did not make itself. It is a result. The
- 8:24Speaker 1: word always comes first in the creative series. The word
- 8:28Speaker 1: was with God, and the Word was God, and the
- 8:31Speaker 1: Word still is God. When we realize that man is
- 8:35Speaker 1: like God, and he could not be otherwise, being made
- 8:38Speaker 1: out of God, we realize that his word also has power.
- 8:42Speaker 1: If there is but one mind, then it follows that
- 8:45Speaker 1: our word, our thought, is the activity of that one
- 8:49Speaker 1: mind in our consciousness. The power that holds the planets
- 8:53Speaker 1: in their place is the same power that flows through man.
- 8:56Speaker 1: We must place the word where it belongs, whether it
- 9:00Speaker 1: is the word of God in the universe or the
- 9:02Speaker 1: word of Man in the individual, It is always first
- 9:06Speaker 1: before all else. In the beginning. The real sequence is
- 9:10Speaker 1: this cause, spirit, intelligence, God, the word, the activity of intelligence,
- 9:19Speaker 1: the effect or the visible thing, whether it is a
- 9:23Speaker 1: planet or a peanut, all are made out of the
- 9:26Speaker 1: same thing. What we need to do is learn how
- 9:29Speaker 1: to use the word so that all will come to
- 9:31Speaker 1: see that they are creative sinners within themselves, a principle
- 9:37Speaker 1: that can be proven. Knowing that mind is we have
- 9:41Speaker 1: a principle that is absolute, It is exact. It is
- 9:46Speaker 1: going to correspond with our thinking about it. The first
- 9:49Speaker 1: great necessity is to believe this. Without belief, we can
- 9:53Speaker 1: do nothing. This is the reason Jesus said, it is
- 9:57Speaker 1: done unto you, even as you have believed. Always it
- 10:01Speaker 1: is done unto people as they believe, and there is
- 10:04Speaker 1: something that does it which never fails. We must believe
- 10:09Speaker 1: that our word is formed upon and around this creative mind.
- 10:13Speaker 1: For instance, we wish to create activity in our business,
- 10:18Speaker 1: we believe that our word is law about that thing,
- 10:21Speaker 1: and there is something that takes our thought and executes
- 10:24Speaker 1: it for us. If we have accepted the fact that
- 10:28Speaker 1: all is mind, and that the thought is the thing,
- 10:31Speaker 1: we shall see at once that our word is the
- 10:34Speaker 1: power behind the thing, and that it depends upon the
- 10:37Speaker 1: word or thought that we are sending out. So plastic
- 10:41Speaker 1: is the mind, so receptive that the slightest thought makes
- 10:44Speaker 1: an impression upon it. People who think many kinds of
- 10:48Speaker 1: thought must expect to receive a confused manifestation in their lives.
- 10:53Speaker 1: If a gardener plants a thousand kinds of seeds, he
- 10:56Speaker 1: will get a thousand kinds of plants. It is the
- 10:59Speaker 1: same in mind the word going forth. Since this is true,
- 11:05Speaker 1: everything depends upon our mental concepts. As a man thinketh
- 11:10Speaker 1: in his heart, so is he. The Bible reiterates this statement,
- 11:14Speaker 1: telling us many times of the creative power of thought.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Jesus taught nothing else. He said, the words which I
- 11:21Speaker 1: speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
- 11:25Speaker 1: The Centaurian, coming to Jesus, recognized the power of the
- 11:28Speaker 1: word spoken by the latter. He said, I also am
- 11:32Speaker 1: one in authority, but his authority was on the physical plane.
- 11:37Speaker 1: And he saw that Jesus had authority on a spiritual plane,
- 11:41Speaker 1: for he said, speak the word only. The Bible also
- 11:45Speaker 1: tells us that the word is not afar off, but
- 11:48Speaker 1: in our own mouth. It is neither here nor there.
- 11:52Speaker 1: It is within every living soul. We must take responsibility
- 11:56Speaker 1: for our own lives. We must awake to the fact
- 11:59Speaker 1: that the they have absolute control over their lives, and
- 12:02Speaker 1: that nothing can happen by chance. Then they will have
- 12:06Speaker 1: a broader concept of God, a greater tolerance for their neighbor,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and a greater realization of their own divine nature. What
- 12:15Speaker 1: a relief from strenuous labor, no more struggle or strife.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Be still and know that I am God, and beside
- 12:22Speaker 1: me there is none other. The Spirit being all there is.
- 12:26Speaker 1: We cannot conceive of anything that can hinder its working.
- 12:30Speaker 1: When the Spirit has spoken, the word becomes law. For
- 12:34Speaker 1: before law is the word, it precedes all else. First
- 12:39Speaker 1: is absolute intelligence, all power, all presence, all causation. Then
- 12:44Speaker 1: the movement upon itself through the power of the word.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Then the word becoming law, the law producing the thing
- 12:52Speaker 1: and holding it in place. So long as the word exists,
- 12:56Speaker 1: the thing will exist. For since the Word is all power,
- 13:00Speaker 1: there is nothing beside it. I am that I am,
- 13:03Speaker 1: and beside me there is none other. This I am
- 13:07Speaker 1: is Spirit God all. There is no physical explanation for
- 13:12Speaker 1: anything in the universe. All causation is spirit, and effect spiritual.
- 13:18Speaker 1: We are not living in a physical world, but in
- 13:21Speaker 1: a spiritual world peopled with spiritual ideas. We are now
- 13:25Speaker 1: living in spirit. God or Spirit, governs the universe through
- 13:30Speaker 1: great mental laws that work out the divine will and purpose,
- 13:34Speaker 1: always operating from intelligence. This intelligence is so vast and
- 13:40Speaker 1: the power so great, that our human minds cannot even
- 13:43Speaker 1: grasp it. All that we can hope to do is
- 13:45Speaker 1: to learn something of the way in which it works,
- 13:48Speaker 1: and by harmonizing ourselves with it, to so align ourselves
- 13:52Speaker 1: with Spirit that our lives may be controlled by the
- 13:55Speaker 1: great harmony that obtains in all the higher laws of nature,
- 13:58Speaker 1: but has been very imp perfectly manifested in man. This
- 14:02Speaker 1: brings us to the second point of consideration, why and
- 14:07Speaker 1: what is man? We find in the physical universe that
- 14:11Speaker 1: automatic laws govern everything. For instance, the tree cannot say
- 14:16Speaker 1: I will not because of the law that holds it
- 14:19Speaker 1: in place. It grows without any volition of its own.
- 14:23Speaker 1: So it is with all nature. But when we come
- 14:26Speaker 1: to man we find a different manifestation of the spirit,
- 14:30Speaker 1: a being who can say, I choose. In all creation,
- 14:34Speaker 1: man alone is an individual. Man alone is free, and
- 14:38Speaker 1: yet man alone wants, is sick, suffers, and is unhappy.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Man marks the earth with ruin. Why because he has
- 14:47Speaker 1: not found his true nature. The very thing that should
- 14:51Speaker 1: free him and eventually will do so, now limits him.
- 14:55Speaker 1: God could not make an individual without making him able
- 14:59Speaker 1: to think, and he he cannot think without bringing upon
- 15:02Speaker 1: himself the results of his thought, good or bad. This
- 15:06Speaker 1: does not mean using two powers, but using the one.
- 15:09Speaker 1: From two standpoints, nothing in itself is either good or bad.
- 15:14Speaker 1: All things exist in the mind as a potentiality. Mind
- 15:18Speaker 1: is eternally acting upon thought, continually producing its own images
- 15:23Speaker 1: from mind and casting them out into manifestation. Man must
- 15:28Speaker 1: be the outcome of the desire of the spirit to
- 15:31Speaker 1: make something which expresses the same life that it feels.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Man is made to be a companion of the infinite.
- 15:38Speaker 1: But to arrive at this exalted plain of being, he
- 15:41Speaker 1: must have his freedom and be let alone to discover
- 15:45Speaker 1: his own nature, to return love to his creator. Only
- 15:49Speaker 1: when he chooses to do so. At the doorway, then
- 15:52Speaker 1: of man's mind, this wonderful God has to wait. Behold,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I stand at the door and knock. The opening must
- 15:59Speaker 1: be on the part of the individual. Man lives in
- 16:03Speaker 1: a mind that presses in upon him from all sides,
- 16:06Speaker 1: with infinite possibilities, with infinite creative power. The divine urge
- 16:11Speaker 1: of infinite love crowds itself upon him and awaits his recognition.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Being the image of this power, his thought also must
- 16:20Speaker 1: be the word or cause it life. At the center
- 16:23Speaker 1: of his being is all the power that he will
- 16:26Speaker 1: need on the path of his enfoldment. All the mind
- 16:29Speaker 1: that man has is as much of this infinite mind
- 16:32Speaker 1: as he allows to flow through him. We have often
- 16:35Speaker 1: thought of God as far off and of man as
- 16:39Speaker 1: been separate from all the good, And now we are
- 16:42Speaker 1: coming to see that God and man are one, and
- 16:46Speaker 1: that one is simply awaiting man's recognition, that he may
- 16:50Speaker 1: spring into being and become to man all that he
- 16:53Speaker 1: could wish or want. As the Father has inherent life
- 16:56Speaker 1: in himself, so hath he given to the son to
- 16:59Speaker 1: have life life within himself. It could not be otherwise.
- 17:03Speaker 1: We are all in mind, and mind is always creating
- 17:06Speaker 1: for us as we think, and as we are thinking
- 17:09Speaker 1: creatures always thinking. Our happiness depends upon our thought. Let
- 17:14Speaker 1: us consider the law of our life, the law of
- 17:18Speaker 1: our lives. Spirit creates through law. The law is always
- 17:23Speaker 1: mind in action. Mind cannot act unless intelligence sets it
- 17:28Speaker 1: in motion. In the great universal mind, man is a
- 17:31Speaker 1: center of intelligence, and every time he thinks, he sets
- 17:35Speaker 1: mind into action. What is the activity of this mind
- 17:38Speaker 1: in relation to man's thought? It has to be one
- 17:42Speaker 1: of mental correspondence. That is, mind has to reflect whatever
- 17:46Speaker 1: thought it casts into it. Wonderful, as universal mind is,
- 17:51Speaker 1: it has no choice but to create whatever thought is
- 17:54Speaker 1: given it. If it could contradict that thought, it would
- 17:58Speaker 1: not be a unit, since this would be recognizing something
- 18:01Speaker 1: outside itself. This is a point in truth which should
- 18:05Speaker 1: not be overlooked. The one mind knows only its own
- 18:09Speaker 1: ability to make whatever is given it. It sees no
- 18:13Speaker 1: other power and never analyzes or dissects. It simply knows.
- 18:18Speaker 1: And the reason why people do not understand this is
- 18:21Speaker 1: that they have not realized what mind is. The ordinary
- 18:25Speaker 1: individual thinks of mind only from the limitation of his
- 18:28Speaker 1: own environment. The concept he has of mind is the
- 18:32Speaker 1: concept of his own thinking, which is very limited. We
- 18:36Speaker 1: are surrounded by an all seen, all knowing mind, which
- 18:40Speaker 1: is one and runs through all. The belief in the
- 18:44Speaker 1: dual mind has destroyed practically all philosophies and religions of
- 18:48Speaker 1: the ages, and will continue to do so until the
- 18:52Speaker 1: world comes to see that there is but one. Whatever
- 18:56Speaker 1: name is given it, there is but one. It is
- 18:59Speaker 1: this one one that creates for us whatever we believe.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Our thought operative through this one produces all our affairs.
- 19:08Speaker 1: We are all centers in this mind, centers of creative
- 19:12Speaker 1: thought activity. There is nothing which appears in the manifest
- 19:16Speaker 1: universe other than an objectified thought. Whether it be a
- 19:19Speaker 1: bump on your head, a growth on your foot, or
- 19:22Speaker 1: a planet, It could not be there were it not
- 19:25Speaker 1: made out of mind, For mind is all there is
- 19:28Speaker 1: to make anything out of. Whatever is made is made
- 19:31Speaker 1: out of it. Nothing exists or can exist without a
- 19:35Speaker 1: source from which it springs. We are not dealing with
- 19:38Speaker 1: a negative as well as a positive power, not two powers,
- 19:42Speaker 1: but one, a power that sees neither good nor evil
- 19:46Speaker 1: as we see it. It knows only that it is all,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and since it is all, it creates whatever is given it.
- 19:54Speaker 1: From our limited standpoint, we often think of good and evil,
- 19:58Speaker 1: not realizing that as yet we do not know the
- 20:01Speaker 1: one from the other. What we call good today we
- 20:05Speaker 1: may call evil tomorrow, and what we think to be
- 20:08Speaker 1: evil today we may tomorrow proclaim as the greatest good
- 20:12Speaker 1: we have ever known. Not so with the universal power
- 20:16Speaker 1: of mind, it sees only itself and its infinite ability
- 20:20Speaker 1: to create. To the thinking person this will mean much.
- 20:25Speaker 1: He will see that he is no longer living in
- 20:27Speaker 1: a limited universe, a world of powers, but that he
- 20:31Speaker 1: has immersed in an infinite creative medium, which, because of
- 20:34Speaker 1: its nature, has to create for him whatever he believes.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Jesus understood this, and in a few simple words, laid
- 20:42Speaker 1: down the law of life. It is done unto all
- 20:45Speaker 1: people as they believe this is a great thing to
- 20:48Speaker 1: keep in mind. It is done unto us. We do
- 20:51Speaker 1: not have to do it, for it is done unto
- 20:54Speaker 1: us of a power that knows itself to be all
- 20:57Speaker 1: there is. Could we even believe that some material mountain
- 21:01Speaker 1: would be moved the power is there to do it.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Without this belief, there is no real impulse for the
- 21:07Speaker 1: creative mind, and we do not get an affirmative answer.
- 21:11Speaker 1: We must realize more clearly that this great power has
- 21:14Speaker 1: to operate through us man's part. Creative mind cannot force
- 21:21Speaker 1: itself upon us because we have the power of self choice.
- 21:25Speaker 1: It recognizes us when we recognize it. When we think
- 21:29Speaker 1: that we are limited or have not been heard. It
- 21:32Speaker 1: must take that thought and bring it into manifestation. For us,
- 21:36Speaker 1: when we look about us and see nature so beautiful, lavish,
- 21:40Speaker 1: and so limitless, when we realize that something, some power,
- 21:44Speaker 1: is behind all, and cease to it that plenty obtains everywhere,
- 21:48Speaker 1: so that in all things manifest there is more than
- 21:51Speaker 1: could be used. And when, on the other hand, we
- 21:54Speaker 1: see man so limited, sick and sad and needy, we
- 21:58Speaker 1: are disposed to ask this question, is God good? After all?
- 22:02Speaker 1: Does he really care for the people of his creation.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Why am I sick? Why am I poor? Little do
- 22:09Speaker 1: we realize that the answer is in our own mouths,
- 22:13Speaker 1: in the creative power of our own thought. The average person,
- 22:17Speaker 1: when told the truth, will still seek some other way.
- 22:20Speaker 1: God has already done for us in a mechanical way,
- 22:23Speaker 1: all that he can do, and having been given the ability,
- 22:27Speaker 1: we will have to do for ourselves the rest. Yet,
- 22:31Speaker 1: the great power is always near, ready at any time
- 22:34Speaker 1: to help, but we must use it according to its
- 22:37Speaker 1: own nature, in harmony with its laws. Man should learn
- 22:41Speaker 1: that he himself is the center of this divine activity.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Realizing this, he must seek more and more to utilize
- 22:48Speaker 1: his own divine nature, and by doing so he will
- 22:52Speaker 1: become more fully under the protection of the great laws
- 22:55Speaker 1: that govern all life, manifest and unmanifest. Whatever man is,
- 23:00Speaker 1: he must find that, because he is made out of God,
- 23:04Speaker 1: he must be of the same nature. This infinite one
- 23:08Speaker 1: cannot know anything outside of itself, anything that would be
- 23:11Speaker 1: a contradiction of its divine nature. Man's ignorance of his
- 23:15Speaker 1: real nature binds him with his own freedom until he
- 23:18Speaker 1: comes to see things as they really are and not
- 23:21Speaker 1: as they appear to be. In the infinity of mind,
- 23:25Speaker 1: which is the principle of all metaphysics and of all life.
- 23:28Speaker 1: There is nothing but mind, and that which mind does.
- 23:32Speaker 1: That is all there is in the universe. That is
- 23:35Speaker 1: all there ever was, or ever will be. This mind
- 23:38Speaker 1: is acted upon by our thought, and so our thought
- 23:42Speaker 1: becomes the law of our lives. It is just as
- 23:45Speaker 1: much as a law in our individual lives as God's
- 23:48Speaker 1: thought is in the larger life of the universe. For
- 23:52Speaker 1: the sake of clearness, think of yourself as in this mind.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Think of yourself as a center in it. That is
- 23:59Speaker 1: your principle. You think, and mind produces the thing. One
- 24:04Speaker 1: of the big points to remember is that we do
- 24:07Speaker 1: not have to create. All that we have to do
- 24:09Speaker 1: is think mind. The only mind that there is creates.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Few people seem to understand the nature of the law,
- 24:17Speaker 1: and so think that they have got to do something,
- 24:20Speaker 1: even if it is only holding a thought. Thinking or
- 24:23Speaker 1: knowing is what does the thing. It will make it
- 24:27Speaker 1: easier for us when we realize that we do not
- 24:30Speaker 1: have to make anything, just to know that there is
- 24:33Speaker 1: something back of the knowing which does the work for us.
- 24:37Speaker 1: That person gets the best result who realizes that he
- 24:40Speaker 1: can use this divine principle. He who can get the
- 24:43Speaker 1: clearest concept of his idea, and who can rely on
- 24:47Speaker 1: mind to do for him, keeping everything out of his
- 24:50Speaker 1: thought that would contradict the supremacy of spirit or mind.
- 24:54Speaker 1: By simply holding a thought, we could not make anything
- 24:58Speaker 1: but know one in mind. What can we know do
- 25:01Speaker 1: bondage and freedom. Never get away from the fact that
- 25:06Speaker 1: you are surrounded by such a power. It is the
- 25:09Speaker 1: principle of demonstration. It knows every thought. As we send
- 25:13Speaker 1: forth our thought into it, it does unto us. The
- 25:17Speaker 1: person who is ignorant of this law must, by that ignorance,
- 25:20Speaker 1: be bound by his thought, by his human beliefs. One
- 25:25Speaker 1: who understands will begin to break these ties that bind him.
- 25:28Speaker 1: One by one. He will destroy every negative thought, until
- 25:32Speaker 1: at last he is able to think what he wants
- 25:34Speaker 1: to think, and so he frees himself by the use
- 25:37Speaker 1: of the same power that at one time bound him.
- 25:41Speaker 1: We must destroy all thought that we would not see manifest,
- 25:45Speaker 1: and hold to that which we would see until we
- 25:48Speaker 1: receive the affirmative answer. Never struggle. Mind makes things out
- 25:53Speaker 1: of itself. There is no effort made. Don't think that
- 25:57Speaker 1: there is so much to be overcome, have only a
- 26:00Speaker 1: calm sense of perfect peace as you realize that God
- 26:03Speaker 1: is all, and that you are using the perfect law,
- 26:07Speaker 1: and that nothing can hinder it from working for you.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Many people are learning to do this, and no one
- 26:13Speaker 1: has yet failed to demonstrate who has been steadfast using
- 26:16Speaker 1: the law in a consistent and persistent trust. All that
- 26:20Speaker 1: we have to do is to provide the right mental
- 26:23Speaker 1: and spiritual attitude of mind, and then believe that we
- 26:26Speaker 1: already have and the reward will be with us. We
- 26:30Speaker 1: shall see it. The time will come when we will
- 26:33Speaker 1: not have to demonstrate at all, because we will always
- 26:37Speaker 1: be living so near to the Law that it will
- 26:39Speaker 1: do all for us without much conscious thought on our part.
- 26:43Speaker 1: So when you say I am poor, sick, or weak,
- 26:47Speaker 1: I am not one with the creative mind. You are
- 26:50Speaker 1: using that creative power to keep yourself away from the infinite.
- 26:54Speaker 1: And just as soon as you declare that you are
- 26:56Speaker 1: one with God, there is a rushing out to meet you,
- 27:00Speaker 1: as the Father rushed out to meet the prodigal son.
- 27:03Speaker 1: The spirit seeketh. But as long as your mind thinks
- 27:06Speaker 1: in the terms of conditions, you cannot overcome. The difficulty
- 27:10Speaker 1: comes from our inability to see our own divine nature
- 27:13Speaker 1: and its relation to the universe. Until we awake to
- 27:17Speaker 1: the fact that we are one in nature with God,
- 27:20Speaker 1: we will not find the way of life. Until we
- 27:23Speaker 1: realize that our own word has the power of life,
- 27:26Speaker 1: we will not see the way of life. And this
- 27:29Speaker 1: brings us to the consideration of the use of the
- 27:32Speaker 1: word in our lives. The word, the Word was with God,
- 27:38Speaker 1: and the word was God. The word is nigh thee
- 27:41Speaker 1: even in thy own mouth, that thou shouldst know it
- 27:44Speaker 1: and do it. What does this mean? It clearly states
- 27:48Speaker 1: that whatever power there is in the word, and it
- 27:51Speaker 1: says it is all power, is also in our own mouths.
- 27:55Speaker 1: There's no avoiding the fact that the Bible claims for
- 27:58Speaker 1: man the same power in his lia, his own life,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and his own world that it claims for God. In
- 28:04Speaker 1: the lives of the majority, men do not realize that
- 28:07Speaker 1: the word is in their own mouths. What word? Little
- 28:11Speaker 1: do we realize that this word which they are so
- 28:14Speaker 1: earnestly seeking is every word they hear, think, or speak.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Do we, who are endeavoring to realize the greater truths
- 28:22Speaker 1: of life always govern our words. If any word has power,
- 28:26Speaker 1: it follows that all words have power. It is not
- 28:31Speaker 1: in the few moments of spiritual meditation that we demonstrate,
- 28:35Speaker 1: but we bring out the possibilities of the hidden word
- 28:38Speaker 1: when we are allowing our thoughts to run in any direction,
- 28:41Speaker 1: not in the short time spend in silence, but in
- 28:44Speaker 1: the long hour, stretching themselves into days, months, and years.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Are we always using the word? An hour a day
- 28:52Speaker 1: spend in silent meditation will not save us from the
- 28:55Speaker 1: confusion of life. The fifty one percent of man's thinking
- 28:59Speaker 1: is what count. It is easy when we are alone
- 29:02Speaker 1: to brave the storms of life. Surrounded by our own
- 29:05Speaker 1: exalted atmosphere, we feel the strength of the infinite. We
- 29:09Speaker 1: rise in spirit. We think we are experiencing the ultimate
- 29:13Speaker 1: of truth, that all things are ours. These moments in
- 29:17Speaker 1: a busy life are well spent, but must be unavoidably brief.
- 29:22Speaker 1: But what of the rest of the day, What of
- 29:25Speaker 1: the busy street, of the market place, and of all
- 29:28Speaker 1: the daily contact with life? Do we then obtain? Do
- 29:32Speaker 1: we keep on in the same even way, or do
- 29:36Speaker 1: we fall before the outer confusion of our surroundings? Are
- 29:39Speaker 1: we still creating the word and setting it afloat in
- 29:42Speaker 1: the great ethers? Of life? Are these words creating for us? Yes?
- 29:48Speaker 1: How necessary then to keep the independence of the solitude,
- 29:52Speaker 1: How seldom we do this. God sent an angel to
- 29:56Speaker 1: speak to me a word. He was fain I hear,
- 30:00Speaker 1: and the angel brought the message and whispered it in
- 30:02Speaker 1: my ear. God knew I needed the word. He sinned,
- 30:06Speaker 1: I had lost the zest of fight, and the right
- 30:09Speaker 1: was all but beaten and wrong. It was all but right, simple,
- 30:14Speaker 1: the word that he sent me. But it soothed a
- 30:17Speaker 1: spirit raw with the pain of too much striving. Twas
- 30:21Speaker 1: love fulfills the law. Few people, indeed, in the day
- 30:25Speaker 1: in which we live, are well poised. Where do we
- 30:28Speaker 1: find the man who can live above his surroundings, who
- 30:32Speaker 1: in his own thought, can dominate all conditions, and in
- 30:35Speaker 1: the midst of the crowd, keep his own even way
- 30:38Speaker 1: and his own counsel. When we do meet such a person,
- 30:42Speaker 1: we will know him, for we will find on his
- 30:45Speaker 1: face the image of perfect peace. We shall detect in
- 30:48Speaker 1: his bearing the ease and independence that comes only to
- 30:52Speaker 1: the man who has found himself, and who is centered
- 30:55Speaker 1: not in the outer but in the inner world. Such
- 30:58Speaker 1: a character as this has the power to attract to
- 31:01Speaker 1: himself all of the best in the world. He is
- 31:04Speaker 1: a center to ward which all else must gravitate. The
- 31:08Speaker 1: atmosphere which he creates and with which he surrounds himself,
- 31:12Speaker 1: is one of absolute calm and peace. The world at
- 31:15Speaker 1: once sees in this man a master, and gladly sits
- 31:19Speaker 1: at his feet. And yet this man, who has risen
- 31:22Speaker 1: above the thought of the world, cares not that other
- 31:25Speaker 1: people should sit at his feet. He knows that what
- 31:28Speaker 1: he has done all may do. And he well knows
- 31:31Speaker 1: that all the teaching in the world will not produce
- 31:33Speaker 1: another such as he. He knows that it is not
- 31:37Speaker 1: from the teaching, but from the being that true greatness springs.
- 31:41Speaker 1: So this man does not go around teaching or preaching.
- 31:45Speaker 1: He simply is the man who has arrived. The man
- 31:51Speaker 1: who has arrived will realize he has done so in
- 31:54Speaker 1: the midst of an outer confusion. He will be the
- 31:57Speaker 1: one who has gone into the silence for strength, and
- 32:00Speaker 1: has come out into the world equipped with power from
- 32:02Speaker 1: on high. But that light which has received must be
- 32:06Speaker 1: kept burning, not alone in silence, but in the busy throng.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Must all of us find the way of life our
- 32:13Speaker 1: every thought creates for the majority of us. These thoughts
- 32:17Speaker 1: come in everyday affairs, some of which are very trivial,
- 32:21Speaker 1: but these two will be demonstrated. We have missed the
- 32:25Speaker 1: whole point unless we have learned so to control our
- 32:29Speaker 1: thought that time and place make no difference the power
- 32:34Speaker 1: we have within us. We have within us a power
- 32:37Speaker 1: that is greater than anything that we shall ever contact
- 32:41Speaker 1: in the outer a power that can overcome every obstacle
- 32:45Speaker 1: in our life and set us safe, satisfied and at peace,
- 32:49Speaker 1: healed and prosperous in a new light and in a
- 32:52Speaker 1: new life. Mind. All mind is right here. It is
- 32:57Speaker 1: God's mind, God's creative power, God's creative life. We have
- 33:02Speaker 1: as much of this power to use in our daily
- 33:05Speaker 1: life as we can believe in and embody. The storehouse
- 33:09Speaker 1: of nature is filled with infinite good, awaiting the touch
- 33:12Speaker 1: of our awakened thought to spring forth into manifestation in
- 33:16Speaker 1: our life. But the awakening must be on our part
- 33:20Speaker 1: and not on the side of life. We stand at
- 33:23Speaker 1: a gateway of limitless opportunity in the eternal and changeless.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Now now is the day in which to begin the
- 33:31Speaker 1: new life, that is to lift us up to the
- 33:33Speaker 1: greater expression of all that is wonderful. The word that
- 33:37Speaker 1: we speak is the law of our life, and nothing
- 33:40Speaker 1: hinders but ourselves. We have, through ignorance of our real nature,
- 33:44Speaker 1: misused the power of our word. And behold what it
- 33:48Speaker 1: has brought upon us, the very thing that we feared.
- 33:52Speaker 1: But now it shall produce a new thing, a new
- 33:54Speaker 1: heaven and a new earth. Individual ideas. We find that
- 34:01Speaker 1: in the universe, every separate idea has a word, a
- 34:04Speaker 1: mental concept behind it, and as long as that word remains,
- 34:08Speaker 1: the thing is held in place in the visible world.
- 34:12Speaker 1: When the concept is withdrawn, the idea in the visible
- 34:16Speaker 1: melts away, disappears. It ceases to vibrate to the word,
- 34:21Speaker 1: which is the law behind it. For when the word
- 34:24Speaker 1: is withdrawn, the condensation of the ether that forms the
- 34:27Speaker 1: word melts again into the formless. There was a time
- 34:31Speaker 1: when the world was without form, and from the word
- 34:34Speaker 1: alone all things were made that are made. When our
- 34:38Speaker 1: word says that there is no longer life in our bodies,
- 34:42Speaker 1: the life principle withdraws, and our bodies return to the
- 34:45Speaker 1: substance from which they came. Here is the great mystery
- 34:49Speaker 1: of life that we are able to use this creative
- 34:52Speaker 1: word for whatever purpose we may desire, and that word
- 34:56Speaker 1: becomes the law unto the thing for which it was spoken.
- 35:00Speaker 1: And so in our lives we might say that without
- 35:03Speaker 1: our word was not anything made that was made for.
- 35:07Speaker 1: We are given the power to sit in the middle
- 35:09Speaker 1: of our lives and direct all their activities. There is
- 35:13Speaker 1: no struggle, in no strife necessary. All we have to
- 35:16Speaker 1: do is to know. We must awake, and, with the
- 35:20Speaker 1: glorified consciousness of an emancipated soul, use our God given
- 35:24Speaker 1: power the reason for the universe. This universe is the
- 35:30Speaker 1: reason first of an infinite intelligence, which speaks or thinks,
- 35:35Speaker 1: and as this thought becomes active within itself, it creates
- 35:39Speaker 1: from itself at the power of its own word, the
- 35:42Speaker 1: visible universe. We are living in a universal activity of
- 35:46Speaker 1: mental law. We are surrounded by a mind which receives
- 35:50Speaker 1: every impression of our thought and returns to us just
- 35:54Speaker 1: what we think. Every man, then, is living in a
- 35:57Speaker 1: world made for him from the activity of his life thought.
- 36:01Speaker 1: It is a self evident proposition that mind must create
- 36:04Speaker 1: out of itself, and this self being limitless, it follows
- 36:09Speaker 1: that its creative power is without limit. Mind in action,
- 36:15Speaker 1: everything that we see is the result of mind in action.
- 36:19Speaker 1: We all have a body, and we have what is
- 36:22Speaker 1: called a physical environment. We could have neither if it
- 36:26Speaker 1: were not for mind. The law implanted within us is
- 36:30Speaker 1: that we need nothing except ourselves and this all wise
- 36:33Speaker 1: creative mind to make anything, and that just so far
- 36:37Speaker 1: as we depend upon any condition, past, present or future,
- 36:42Speaker 1: or upon any individual, we are creating chaos because we
- 36:47Speaker 1: are dealing with conditions and not with causes. Every living
- 36:51Speaker 1: soul is a law unto himself. But of this great
- 36:54Speaker 1: truth few people are conscious. It seems difficult for the race,
- 36:59Speaker 1: which feels itself to be so limited, to comprehend the
- 37:02Speaker 1: fact that there is a power that makes things directly
- 37:05Speaker 1: out of itself by simply becoming the thing that it makes,
- 37:09Speaker 1: and that it does this by self knowing. But we
- 37:13Speaker 1: will not demonstrate until we see at least some of
- 37:16Speaker 1: this the greatest truth about life. We should realize that
- 37:20Speaker 1: we are dealing with the principle that is scientifically correct.
- 37:24Speaker 1: It will never fail us at any time, but is
- 37:27Speaker 1: eternally present. We can approach the infinite mind with a
- 37:31Speaker 1: depth of thought and understanding, knowing that it will respond.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Knowing that we are dealing with reality, Jesus, who saw
- 37:39Speaker 1: this very clearly, laid down the whole law of life
- 37:43Speaker 1: in a few simple words. It is done unto you,
- 37:46Speaker 1: as you believe, we do not have to do it. It
- 37:49Speaker 1: is done unto us. It is done by a power
- 37:52Speaker 1: that is all. Could we believe that a material mountain
- 37:55Speaker 1: would be moved, it would be done unto us. But
- 37:59Speaker 1: unless we do be leave, there is no impulse for
- 38:02Speaker 1: the creative power, and we do not receive life externalizes.
- 38:06Speaker 1: At the level of our thought, action and reaction. There
- 38:12Speaker 1: is something that casts back at us every thought that
- 38:15Speaker 1: we think. Vengeance is mine, I will repay saith the Lord.
- 38:20Speaker 1: It is a statement of eternal truth and correspondences against
- 38:24Speaker 1: which nothing can stand. And whatever man sets in motion
- 38:28Speaker 1: in mind will be returned to him, even as he
- 38:31Speaker 1: has conceived within himself and brought forth into manifestation. If
- 38:36Speaker 1: we wish to transcend old thoughts, we must rise above
- 38:39Speaker 1: them and think higher things. We are dealing with the
- 38:42Speaker 1: law of cause and effect, and it is absolute. It
- 38:46Speaker 1: receives the slightest as well as the greatest thought, and
- 38:50Speaker 1: at once begins to act upon it. And sometimes even
- 38:54Speaker 1: when we know this, we are surprised at the rapidity
- 38:57Speaker 1: with which it works. If we have been misused this law,
- 39:00Speaker 1: we need not fail. All that we have to do
- 39:04Speaker 1: is to turn from the old way and begin in
- 39:06Speaker 1: the new. We will soon work up out of the
- 39:09Speaker 1: old law into the new which is being established for us.
- 39:13Speaker 1: When we desire only the good, the evil slips from
- 39:16Speaker 1: us and returns no more, arriving at a high consciousness.
- 39:22Speaker 1: The best way to arrive at the highest consciousness is
- 39:25Speaker 1: to have a great faith in the willingness and the
- 39:28Speaker 1: ability of life to do all for us by working
- 39:31Speaker 1: through us. We must believe in the inherent goodness and
- 39:35Speaker 1: all powerfulness of the spirit of truth. And so every
- 39:38Speaker 1: path leads us back to the one point, and we
- 39:41Speaker 1: must learn to realize the near presence the great reality.
- 39:45Speaker 1: There through the door of our own thought, we enter
- 39:48Speaker 1: into the universal consciousness, into a complete realization of life
- 39:53Speaker 1: and truth, of love and beauty. And as we sit
- 39:57Speaker 1: in the silence of our own souls and listen, it
- 40:00Speaker 1: will be the greatest thing that we will ever do.
- 40:03Speaker 1: In that completeness, we are not lost, and yet we
- 40:06Speaker 1: are found. This is what is meant that a man
- 40:09Speaker 1: must lose his life in order to find it. We
- 40:12Speaker 1: are lost to the human and found in the divine.
- 40:16Speaker 1: We realize that we are one with the cause other suggestions.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Nearly all people are controlled by outer suggestions and not
- 40:26Speaker 1: by inner realizations. Ordinarily, man thinks only what he sees
- 40:30Speaker 1: others do and hears others say. We must all learn
- 40:34Speaker 1: so to control the inner life that outside things do
- 40:37Speaker 1: not make an impression upon our mentalities. As we are
- 40:41Speaker 1: thinking beings and cannot help thinking, we cannot avoid making
- 40:45Speaker 1: things happen to us. And what we need to do
- 40:48Speaker 1: is so to control our thought process that our thinking
- 40:51Speaker 1: will not depart from the realization of that which is perfect.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Man is governed by a mind which casts back to
- 40:58Speaker 1: him every thought he thinks. He cannot escape from this,
- 41:02Speaker 1: and need not try. It would be useless. The laws
- 41:05Speaker 1: of the mind are simple and easy to understand. The
- 41:09Speaker 1: trouble with us has been that we have laid down
- 41:11Speaker 1: great obstructions and then have tried to overcome them. Stop trying,
- 41:17Speaker 1: stop struggling, Begin to be calm, to trust in the
- 41:21Speaker 1: higher laws of life. Even though you do not see them,
- 41:24Speaker 1: they are still there. Did you ever see the law
- 41:27Speaker 1: that causes a plant to grow? Of course you did not,
- 41:30Speaker 1: and yet you believe in this hidden law of growth.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Why do you believe simply because every year out of
- 41:38Speaker 1: the seed time comes a harvest. Shall we not have
- 41:42Speaker 1: as great faith in the highest laws of being to
- 41:45Speaker 1: those souls who have dared to believe has come as
- 41:48Speaker 1: definite an answer as came to those who believed in
- 41:51Speaker 1: receiving a harvest from the planted seed. This law is,
- 41:55Speaker 1: and if we would see results, we must use it.
- 41:59Speaker 1: That is, we must provide the mental receptivity that will
- 42:02Speaker 1: prepare us to accept the gift when the spirit makes it.
- 42:06Speaker 1: This receiving is a mental process, a process in which
- 42:10Speaker 1: we lose all sense of limitation. If you wish to
- 42:14Speaker 1: demonstrate prosperity, begin to think and talk about it, and
- 42:17Speaker 1: to see it everywhere. Do nothing that contradicts this thought,
- 42:21Speaker 1: either mentally or physically. The world is full of good.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Take it and forget all else. Rise above depression, and
- 42:29Speaker 1: be glad you are saved from adversity. The human mind
- 42:33Speaker 1: needs to be cleansed from the morbid thoughts that bind
- 42:36Speaker 1: through its false beliefs. No living soul can demonstrate two
- 42:40Speaker 1: things at the same time. If one contradicts the other,
- 42:43Speaker 1: there is no way except to let go of all
- 42:46Speaker 1: that you do not wish. Who come into your experience
- 42:49Speaker 1: and in mind, take all that you do wish. See here,
- 42:54Speaker 1: talk about and read only what you wish, and never
- 42:58Speaker 1: again let another negative thought come into your mind. God
- 43:02Speaker 1: knows good only, and when we are in line with good,
- 43:06Speaker 1: he knows us. When we are out of harmony with good,
- 43:09Speaker 1: we say God has forgotten us. On the one hand,
- 43:13Speaker 1: we have an infinite intelligence which has brought us up
- 43:16Speaker 1: to where we are today, and having done all that
- 43:19Speaker 1: it can for us, now lets us alone to discover
- 43:22Speaker 1: our own nature. On the other hand, we have the
- 43:26Speaker 1: infinite law, which is an activity of God, and we
- 43:30Speaker 1: can use it for what we will, only with this
- 43:33Speaker 1: provision that, in so far as we use it for
- 43:36Speaker 1: the good of all, are we protected. The law obtains
- 43:39Speaker 1: through all nature that as a man souls, so must
- 43:43Speaker 1: he reap. Now the Father has brought us to where
- 43:46Speaker 1: we can understand life, and we must go as we choose.
- 43:50Speaker 1: If we are in harmony with the great forward movement
- 43:53Speaker 1: of the Spirit, there is nothing that can hinder our advancement.
- 43:57Speaker 1: If we oppose it somewhere along our pathway, it will
- 44:00Speaker 1: crush us. As with individuals. So with nations. In so
- 44:05Speaker 1: far as they work with the right spirit, they prosper.
- 44:08Speaker 1: When they begin to fail in the use of this law,
- 44:11Speaker 1: they begin to fall. He who understands will take the
- 44:14Speaker 1: position of one who wishes to work in union with
- 44:17Speaker 1: the power of Good. And to such a one will
- 44:20Speaker 1: come all the power that he can conceive of and
- 44:23Speaker 1: believe in. His word becomes in expression as the very
- 44:26Speaker 1: word of God, and he must realize it to be
- 44:30Speaker 1: all powerful. So the one who is truly united with
- 44:33Speaker 1: good will wish to express only the truth for all.
- 44:37Speaker 1: And in doing so he is working along the lines
- 44:40Speaker 1: of the enfulment of the Spirit. And though he may
- 44:43Speaker 1: seem to fail from the ordinary standpoint, yet his success
- 44:47Speaker 1: is assured, for he is at one with the only
- 44:50Speaker 1: ultimate power, before which in time all else must fall.
- 44:56Speaker 1: End of Part one, Part two of Creative Mind by
- 45:11Speaker 1: Ernest Schertliff Holmes. This LibriVox recording is in the public domain.
- 45:17Speaker 1: The use of the Greater Consciousness in practice, the emancipated
- 45:22Speaker 1: soul must always realize that he is in union with
- 45:25Speaker 1: the Father. What the Father does, he can do in
- 45:28Speaker 1: his own life. What God is, he can become his
- 45:32Speaker 1: word must be spoken with absolute authority. He must know
- 45:37Speaker 1: there should be no uncertainty. The word is the only power.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Everything must come from it, and nothing can stand against it.
- 45:46Speaker 1: It is the great weapon which he is to use
- 45:48Speaker 1: against all evil and for all good. It is his
- 45:52Speaker 1: shield against all adversity, and his short offense against all
- 45:55Speaker 1: seeming limitation. The secret place of the Most High is
- 46:00Speaker 1: in his own soul, where God dwells in eternal peace,
- 46:03Speaker 1: an infinite calm. Here he walks the waters of life,
- 46:07Speaker 1: undisturbed by the waves and the storm. Divine companionship is
- 46:12Speaker 1: his for all eternity. Peace which transcends all human confusion,
- 46:17Speaker 1: comes and he realizes that indeed he is honored of
- 46:20Speaker 1: the Father. His word is flung out and will work,
- 46:24Speaker 1: and none can hinder it. The sense of sureness is complete.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Heaven and earth may pass away, but the Word goes
- 46:31Speaker 1: on and on, accomplishing that thing for which it was sent,
- 46:36Speaker 1: and all power is given to it on earth and
- 46:38Speaker 1: in heaven. If he speaks to the sick and they
- 46:41Speaker 1: receive it, will heal them. If he says the word
- 46:44Speaker 1: of prosperity, it will manifest, and nothing can hinder it.
- 46:49Speaker 1: The world will abound with good, and his cup runneth
- 46:52Speaker 1: over with life. What more can we ask, what greater
- 46:56Speaker 1: realization of life than to know that God is with us.
- 47:00Speaker 1: From this great realization comes peace, a peace which the
- 47:04Speaker 1: world little understands, and a calm which is as deep
- 47:08Speaker 1: as the infinite sea of love in which he realizes
- 47:11Speaker 1: himself to be immersed. Peace brings poise, and the union
- 47:15Speaker 1: of these two gives birth to power. No person can
- 47:18Speaker 1: hope to arrive while he believes in two powers. Only
- 47:22Speaker 1: as we rise to the realization of the one in
- 47:25Speaker 1: and through all can we attain. When we speak the word,
- 47:29Speaker 1: there must be no confusion, but only that calm reliance
- 47:33Speaker 1: which knows that beside me there is none other. Realize
- 47:37Speaker 1: that spirit is all causation, and that all things are
- 47:40Speaker 1: made out of it by the operation of the Word
- 47:43Speaker 1: through it, and that you can speak the word that
- 47:46Speaker 1: is one with the Spirit, and there will be no
- 47:48Speaker 1: more confusion. As the Father has inherent life in himself,
- 47:53Speaker 1: so has he given to the Son to have inherent
- 47:55Speaker 1: life within himself. Speak the word only, and it shall
- 47:59Speaker 1: be done. The word is in your own mouth, that
- 48:02Speaker 1: you should know it and do it. Stranger on earth,
- 48:06Speaker 1: thy home is in heaven, pilgrim, Thou art the guest
- 48:09Speaker 1: of God, the greater consciousness. Man is surrounded by a
- 48:15Speaker 1: great universal thought power, which returns to him always just
- 48:19Speaker 1: as he thinks. So plastic, so receptive is this mind
- 48:23Speaker 1: that it takes the slightest impression and molds it into conditions.
- 48:28Speaker 1: There are two things in man which his thought affects,
- 48:31Speaker 1: his body and his environment. At all times. He has
- 48:34Speaker 1: given absolute control over these two things, and from the
- 48:38Speaker 1: effect of his thought upon them he cannot hope to escape.
- 48:43Speaker 1: At first, being ignorant of this fact, he binds himself
- 48:47Speaker 1: by a misuse of the laws of his being. But
- 48:50Speaker 1: as he begins to see that he himself is responsible
- 48:53Speaker 1: for all that comes to him on the path of life,
- 48:56Speaker 1: he begins to control his thought, which, in its turn
- 49:00Speaker 1: on the universal substance to create for him a new world.
- 49:05Speaker 1: The great soul is learning more and more to dare
- 49:07Speaker 1: to fling out into mind a divine idea of himself,
- 49:11Speaker 1: and to see himself perfect and whole. If he has
- 49:15Speaker 1: a divine thought, he will get a divine thing. If
- 49:19Speaker 1: he has a human thought, he will get a human thing.
- 49:22Speaker 1: He will receive whatever his innermost thought in bodies, and
- 49:26Speaker 1: so we find in the Bible twice repeated these words
- 49:29Speaker 1: to the pure, thou wilt show thyself pure, and to
- 49:33Speaker 1: the foreward, thou wilt show thyself forward. It is done
- 49:37Speaker 1: unto all as they believe. We often wonder why it
- 49:41Speaker 1: is that we are not making better demonstrations. We look
- 49:45Speaker 1: about and observe that some are getting wonderful results. They
- 49:49Speaker 1: are speaking the word and people are being healed. We
- 49:52Speaker 1: see others struggling along with the word, and nothing seems
- 49:56Speaker 1: to happen. And when we inquire into the reason for
- 49:59Speaker 1: all this, we find it to be very plain. Indeed,
- 50:03Speaker 1: all is mind, and we are mental. We are in
- 50:06Speaker 1: mind and can only get from it what we first think.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Into it. We must not only think, but we must know.
- 50:13Speaker 1: We have to provide within ourselves a mental and spiritual
- 50:17Speaker 1: likeness for the thing desired. The reason why so few succeed,
- 50:21Speaker 1: then must be because they have not mentally really believed
- 50:25Speaker 1: to the exclusion of all that would deny the thing
- 50:28Speaker 1: which they believe in. And the reason why others do
- 50:31Speaker 1: succeed must also be because they have absolutely believed and
- 50:35Speaker 1: allowed real power to flow through and out into expression.
- 50:40Speaker 1: They must have a real concept of life. Hold an
- 50:43Speaker 1: object in front of a mirror, and it will image
- 50:46Speaker 1: in the mirror the exact size of the object. Hold
- 50:49Speaker 1: a thought in mind, and it will image in matter
- 50:52Speaker 1: the exact likeness of the thought. Let us take this
- 50:55Speaker 1: image which we hold before a mirror, and change it
- 50:58Speaker 1: ever so slightly, and there will be a corresponding change
- 51:01Speaker 1: in the reflection. It is just the same in the
- 51:04Speaker 1: mental world. Whatever is imagined is brought forth from mind
- 51:09Speaker 1: into manifestation. We must not deny that which we affirm.
- 51:14Speaker 1: We must reason only from that cause which is spiritual
- 51:17Speaker 1: and mental, And we doubt all thought that would deny
- 51:20Speaker 1: its power in our lives. There seems to be something
- 51:24Speaker 1: in the race thought that says man is poor, man
- 51:27Speaker 1: is limited, that there is a lack of opportunity, that
- 51:31Speaker 1: times are hard, that prices are high, that nobody wants
- 51:35Speaker 1: what I have to offer. No person succeeds who speaks
- 51:39Speaker 1: these ideas. When we express ourselves in this way, we
- 51:43Speaker 1: are using a destructive power. All such thoughts must go,
- 51:47Speaker 1: and we must all realize that we are an active
- 51:50Speaker 1: center in the only power there is. We must get
- 51:54Speaker 1: the perfect vision, the perfect conception. We must enlarge our
- 51:59Speaker 1: thought until it realizes all good, and then we must
- 52:02Speaker 1: swing right out and use this almighty power for definite purposes.
- 52:07Speaker 1: We should daily feel a deeper union with life, a
- 52:10Speaker 1: greater sense of that indwelling God, the God of the
- 52:13Speaker 1: everywhere within us. When we speak into this mind, we
- 52:18Speaker 1: have sown the seed of thought in the absolute, and
- 52:21Speaker 1: may rest in peace. We do not have to make haste,
- 52:24Speaker 1: because it is done unto all, as they believe in
- 52:28Speaker 1: that day that they shall call upon me, I will answer.
- 52:32Speaker 1: People will often ask what is the best method for demonstration.
- 52:36Speaker 1: There is but one answer to that question. The word
- 52:40Speaker 1: is the only possible method of demonstrating anything. The word
- 52:44Speaker 1: really felt and embodied in our thought. Then the word
- 52:48Speaker 1: becomes flesh and dwells among us, and we behold and
- 52:51Speaker 1: experience it. We will ask for no other way. When
- 52:54Speaker 1: we understand this. The person who does not understand these
- 52:58Speaker 1: laws will be likely to say that this is presumptuous,
- 53:02Speaker 1: that it is even sacrilegious. But this comes only from
- 53:06Speaker 1: a lack of understanding of the fact that all is
- 53:08Speaker 1: governed by law, and that all law is impersonal and universal.
- 53:14Speaker 1: We have just as much right to use spiritual law
- 53:17Speaker 1: as to use the soul called physical laws. Strictly speaking,
- 53:21Speaker 1: there's no such thing as a physical law, as all
- 53:25Speaker 1: things are spiritual and all law is a law of
- 53:28Speaker 1: the activity of the spirit. The greatest use of these
- 53:31Speaker 1: laws will always come to that soul who is the
- 53:34Speaker 1: most deeply spiritual, as such a soul comes the nearest
- 53:38Speaker 1: to using law as God uses it. So to the
- 53:41Speaker 1: really great soul there must come of a very close
- 53:44Speaker 1: relationship with the invisible God. This relationship cannot be expressed
- 53:49Speaker 1: in words, but only in inner feeling, which transcends the
- 53:53Speaker 1: power of words to express. God must become the great reality,
- 53:58Speaker 1: not simply as the Prince of life, but more as
- 54:02Speaker 1: the great mind which knows, and which at all times
- 54:05Speaker 1: understands and responds. To say that God does not understand
- 54:09Speaker 1: our desires would be to rob the divine mind of
- 54:12Speaker 1: all consciousness and place God lower in the scale of
- 54:16Speaker 1: being than we ourselves are. On the other hand, we
- 54:20Speaker 1: must be careful not to believe that God thinks evil
- 54:23Speaker 1: and understands that which is not perfect, as then we
- 54:27Speaker 1: would have an imperfect being. For the first cause, we
- 54:30Speaker 1: should more and more learn to think of things in
- 54:33Speaker 1: the absolute, that is to think of things as not
- 54:37Speaker 1: limited by conditions, realize at all times that the spirit
- 54:41Speaker 1: makes things out of itself and needs no beginning except
- 54:45Speaker 1: its own self recognition. Then we must cognize our relation
- 54:49Speaker 1: to this great power as one of absolute correspondence. What
- 54:54Speaker 1: we think into it. It takes up and does for
- 54:57Speaker 1: us as we think. It should not be an effort,
- 55:00Speaker 1: so to think we should do so with these without strain.
- 55:04Speaker 1: The law must return to us. We have no responsibility
- 55:09Speaker 1: except to provide the proper channel. It can return only
- 55:12Speaker 1: in the exact way that we think. If we think
- 55:16Speaker 1: struggle is the reality, we shall gain our demonstration, but
- 55:20Speaker 1: struggle will have to be the result. There is a
- 55:23Speaker 1: law of reflection between mind and the one who thinks,
- 55:26Speaker 1: and it is not only what a man thinks, but
- 55:29Speaker 1: also how he thinks that shall be done unto him.
- 55:34Speaker 1: If you believe absolutely that you can do a certain thing,
- 55:37Speaker 1: the way will always be open for you to do it.
- 55:40Speaker 1: If also you believe that time will have to elapse,
- 55:44Speaker 1: then you are making a law, and time will have
- 55:46Speaker 1: to elapse. If, on the other hand, you believe that
- 55:50Speaker 1: mine knows just how and never makes mistakes, but lets
- 55:53Speaker 1: it be done unto you, then it will be done.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Confusion brings more confusion begets more peace. We cannot imagine
- 56:03Speaker 1: the Great Spirit hurrying or worrying, fretting, or trying to
- 56:06Speaker 1: make anything happen. The only reason we worry and fret
- 56:10Speaker 1: is because we have thought there was some other power
- 56:13Speaker 1: which could bring confusion. Such is not the case. There
- 56:18Speaker 1: is but one, and we are always using that one,
- 56:21Speaker 1: but using it according to our belief. This is our
- 56:25Speaker 1: divine birthright. Nothing hinders it but ourselves. Remember that since
- 56:30Speaker 1: all is mind, you cannot demonstrate beyond your ability to
- 56:34Speaker 1: comprehend mentally, that is, beyond your ability to know about
- 56:38Speaker 1: a certain thing. For instance, suppose you wish to heal
- 56:42Speaker 1: someone who is sick. Your ability to do this will
- 56:46Speaker 1: depend entirely upon your ability to see perfection mentally, coupled
- 56:51Speaker 1: also with the realization that your word destroys everything unlike itself.
- 56:56Speaker 1: If you try to see perfection for a few minutes only,
- 56:59Speaker 1: it will never heal. Your thought goes on at all times,
- 57:04Speaker 1: and in the moments when you least realize it, conditions
- 57:07Speaker 1: are being molded for you. It is not enough to
- 57:10Speaker 1: declare consciously for the truth. The truth must be believed,
- 57:14Speaker 1: or no good results will be forthcoming the perfect universe.
- 57:20Speaker 1: The one who desires to heal must stop seeing, reading about, discussing,
- 57:26Speaker 1: or listening to conversation about sickness. There is no other
- 57:29Speaker 1: way under the sun, except as we let go of
- 57:32Speaker 1: that which we do not desire and take that which
- 57:36Speaker 1: we wish to have. There is too much of this
- 57:39Speaker 1: deceiving ourselves into thinking that we can do two ways
- 57:42Speaker 1: at once. We may deceive ourselves and possibly other people,
- 57:46Speaker 1: but the law remains the same, the law of mental
- 57:50Speaker 1: correspondence and nothing else. We cannot go beyond our ability
- 57:54Speaker 1: to realize the truth. Water rises only to its own level.
- 57:59Speaker 1: In our patients, as well as in ourselves and our environment.
- 58:04Speaker 1: We will reflect what we are not at our best
- 58:07Speaker 1: in the few moments of silence, but in the long
- 58:10Speaker 1: run of ordinary life and thought. To acquire the larger
- 58:14Speaker 1: consciousness is no easy task. All that we have believed
- 58:18Speaker 1: in which contradicts the perfect whole, must be dropped from
- 58:22Speaker 1: our thought, and we must come to realize that we
- 58:25Speaker 1: are now living in a perfect universe peopled with perfect
- 58:28Speaker 1: spiritual beings, each of which, coupled with the Great Divinity,
- 58:33Speaker 1: is complete within himself. We must see that we are
- 58:37Speaker 1: one in the great One, and then we will not
- 58:40Speaker 1: separate or divide, but unite and add to until in
- 58:44Speaker 1: time we will find that we are living in an
- 58:47Speaker 1: entirely different world from that in which we at once
- 58:50Speaker 1: thought we were living. Of course, this will meet with
- 58:53Speaker 1: much opposition from those unenlightened souls whom we must contact
- 58:58Speaker 1: in the world. But what of them? Remember, the great
- 59:02Speaker 1: Man is the one who can keep in the crowd,
- 59:04Speaker 1: the calm, even thought, the deep divine reliance on principle,
- 59:09Speaker 1: and more. This is the only way to help or
- 59:12Speaker 1: save the world. In time, all people will come to
- 59:16Speaker 1: the same understanding. You are lifting up the standard of life,
- 59:20Speaker 1: and those who are ready will follow. You have no
- 59:23Speaker 1: responsibility to save the world except by exemplifying the truth.
- 59:28Speaker 1: The world must save itself. All are alike. There is
- 59:33Speaker 1: no difference between one person and another. Come to see
- 59:36Speaker 1: all as a divine idea. Stop all negative thought. Think
- 59:41Speaker 1: only about what you want, and never about what you
- 59:44Speaker 1: do not want, as that would cause a false creation.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Too much cannot be said about the fact that all
- 59:51Speaker 1: are dealing with only one power, making and unmaking for
- 59:55Speaker 1: man through the creative power of his own thought. If
- 59:59Speaker 1: there is something in your life that you do not
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: want there, stop fighting it. Forget it about struggle karma.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: There is too much struggle coming into the metaphysical thought.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Often we hear some seeker after truth say, I have
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: a big fight a head, old, foolish, and untaught. How
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: can you hope to enter in the kingdom comes not
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: from without but from within. Always stop all struggle and
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: wait upon the shore principle that creates whatever it wills,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: because there is nothing to oppose it. As long as
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: we think that opposition exists, we are blocking the way
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: for the clearer vision. Those that take up the sword
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: must perish by it, not because God is a jealous God,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: but because that is the way the law must work.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Cause and effect must obtain everywhere. Do not even fuss
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: about your karma. Too often we hear people say this
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: is my karma. This may be true enough, but how
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: many people know what they mean when they use the
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: word karma. Do you realize that your karma is nothing
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: but your false thinking, and that the only way to
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: escape it is to think the truth, and that brings
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: in the higher law. When the greater comes in the
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: lesser leaves because there's no longer anything to give life
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: to it. The past is gone. When we learn to
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: forgive and to forget, this erases from mind all that
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: is held against us, and even our sins are remembered
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: no more against us. Forever fate is in our own hands.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: And when we will rise to that pure atmosphere where
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: we see things in their completeness and know that an
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: all wise power is behind it all, we will see
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: that the infinite mind could wish for us only that
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: which expresses itself in limitless terms. The whole trouble has
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: been that we reason as men and not as gods.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I say, ye are gods, and every one of you
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: sons of the Most High. The great law of life
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: is thinking and becoming. And when we think from the
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: lofty heights of the spirit, we will become great. And
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: not until then do not try to convince any one
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: of the truth that will bring confusion. Truth is just
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: as much as God is, and the whole world is
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: coming gradually into the realization of it. Keep the truth
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: within your own soul, lift your own self above the
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: confusion of life, and then people will believe. So all
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: our thought is to be created in the realization of
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: the one, becoming the many, without struggle, without fear, stripped
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: of all that denies the truth. How limited we are,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: how little our thought. How the human race rises in
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: the morning, plods off to the day's work, plods home
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: at night, sore and tired, eats and sleeps, works and dies.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: As has been said of man, man works hard to
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: get money, to buy food, to get strength, to work
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: hard to get money, to buy food, to get strength,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: to work hard to get money, et cetera. This was
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: never intended. It is the curse imposed on the man
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: who believed in two powers, one of good and one
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: of evil. To us there has come a greater vision,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: And to those who believe and act as though it
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: were true, it is proving itself. We must turn from
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: all human thought and experience. We are not downtrodden, depraved
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: and miserable, sinners born in sin and conceived in iniquity
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: and shame. Some to go to heaven and some to hell,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: and all to the eternal glory of God. This is
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: a lie. It always has been and always will be.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: But as long as we believe in a lie, it
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: seems to be present with us. Man is born of
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: the Spirit of God Almighty is pure, holy, perfect, complete,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: and undefiled is that one with his eternal principle of being.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: Many people are finding this out, and as a monument
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: to its truth, millions are daily proving it for themselves.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Somewhere down the path of human experience, we will all
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: awaken to the realization that we ourselves are heaven or Hell.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: We live in spirit, awaiting the touch of thought that
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: believes all people look a few see Part two Practice Introductory.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: The one who wishes to practice metaphysics must first, last,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: and all the time realize that he himself is a
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: center of the divine activity. He must know that whatever
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: God is in the universal, he is in the world
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: in which he lives. He must know that all things
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: are made out of spirit, which is first cause nothing
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: comes before Spirit, operating upon itself, out of itself, It
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: makes what it will out of its own perfect desire.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: He must think of the Spirit as the Father of
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: his own life, eternally bound to him, eternally binding him
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: to it. He must know that the Spirit not only
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: can manifest through him, but that it wishes to do so.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: The Father seeks such to worship him. The practitioner who
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: understands the truth knows that as long as God exists,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: he will exist, that he could no more become nonexistent
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: than God could, walking, talking, moving in God, he must
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: not only see the divine being as the great unknown Cause,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: but he must go a step further and see God
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: as the Great Self, knowing, understanding, power of infinite intelligence,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: thinking through his own thought, and willing into his own
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: life all power and all good. More than this, God
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: must become within his own soul, the greater Self, the
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: inner life, the inner light that is to light his
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: path with short step to the attainment of the greater ideals.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: God is to become the great friend of his life,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: understanding him and helping him at all times to understand
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: all things. No more books, no more teachers, no more preachers,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: creeds or candlesticks will he ever need. The old methods
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: must vanish into their native nothingness. As the great realization
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: that God is all in his life dawns upon his
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: awakened thought. Naught is the squire when the King's at hand,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: withdraw the stars, when dawns the sun's brave light. He
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: must know that not height, nor depth, nor any other
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: thing can come between the soul and its perfect creator.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Too long have we listened to people. Now our own
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: soul shall speak in a language that is unmistakable. Now
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: shall we ourselves become masters of all life and interpreters
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: of all mysteries. Now my father and I are one.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: As the Word of God goes forth and sets in
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: motion the all law soul. Must we realize, because we
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: are one with the word, that our own thought has
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: the power of expression. The one who wishes to heal
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: must come to see all evil as in person, fastening
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: it to no one, but realizing that it is simply
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: false thought. The healer knows that the word which is
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: to speak will destroy this false impression, and by erasing it,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: it will vanish. There should be absolutely no sense of
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: responsibility beyond speaking the word in positive faith, knowing all
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: struggle belongs to the old order. In the new peace
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: takes the place of confusion. Faith answers the cry of
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: doubt and fear, and the Word is supreme. We must
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: know that our word is law and cannot be set
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: aside by the false thought of the world. Every time
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: that we state a truth, we must know that that
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: truth destroys all that is unlike itself, and frees the
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: thought of the one whom we wish to help and
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: to heal. This word must become the new law which frees.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: People are sick because they think sickness, and will be
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: healed only when they turn from this kind of thought
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: and begin to think in terms of health. The same
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: power used in two ways. There is only one power,
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: but we use it in two ways, either to destroy
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: or to save. The blessing and the curse are one
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: and the same thing, the power of mind used either
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: affirmatively or negatively, the word used in fear and doubt
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: or in faith and assurance. You do not have to
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: understand material philosophy or be learned in the books of
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: the human race. All these things may be good in
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: their place, but to one who understands the greater laws
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: of life, they are as simple babblings. An infant crying
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: in the night, an infant crying for the light, and
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: with no language but a cry. We no longer cry.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: We know. We no longer ask if there be a God,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: or if we dare to speak to him lest we die.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: We do not analyze, dissect, affirm, or deny. We know.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: We trust our own word, because first we know in
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: whom we have believed. The sooner, the one who is
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: striving to attain will realize that truth must become revealed
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: through his own soul and not that of another. The
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: sooner he will attain. We must then become immune from
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: the race suggestion of an hypnotic power that sets itself
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: up as an authority. There is no other authority than
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: your own soul, as there is no law but that
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: your soul has set. Leave authorities to smaller minds and
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: to those who need a leader because of their own
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: self confessed weakness, and be free. Dare not to stand
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: amidst the eternal way and proclaim your own atonement with
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: all the power that there is, was, or ever will be. Practically,
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: the whole human race is hypnotized thinking whatever it is
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: told to think. We get our concepts from our physical environment.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: We say, see sin, sickness, death and misery, happiness in calamity,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: and this concept we are giving to the creative impersonal mind.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: And so we are making a law for ourselves that
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: will produce what we believe in. Do we really know
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: what law means? It means that which will exact the
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: utmost farthing from our own thought. Like produces like attracts,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: like creates like. If we could see our thought and
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: take a picture of it and of our conditions, we
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: would see no difference between the two, for they are
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: really but the inside and the outside of the same thing.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: We cannot make affirmations for fifteen minutes a day and
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: spend the rest of our time denying the thing which
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: we have affirmed, and affirming the thing which we have denied,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: and obtained the results which we seek. We send out
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: the word, and it sets the power in motion. Then
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: we think the opposite thing, which neutralizes the first word,
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: and zero is the result. We cannot demonstrate one iota
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: beyond our mental ability to conceive and steadfastly to embody
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: infinite as creative power is receptive and quick as it is,
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: it can only become to us what we first think
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: into it. God can do for us only what He
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: can do through us. Dare to say, behold, I am
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: he great men have come and gone, And behold the
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Greater now stands here where I stand, and I am
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: that one. The world will laugh and perhaps scorn. The
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Christian world will hold up its hands in holy horror.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Lest you blespheme. The Unchristian world will smile knowingly. Neither
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: the one nor the other will understand. But the understanding
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: of either counts for nothing. You are now free, and
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: your freedom will yet save the world from itself. The
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: great soul finds within himself the divine companionship which he needs.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: He finds within himself the peace which bath us all
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: understanding and the power to do all things. All power
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: he speaks. His word is law, and it is done
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: unto him. Of all the power there is. His word
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: knows itself to be the law of life, unto all
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: for whom it is spoken, and who receive it. Healing
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: the sick, we shall be called upon to heal all
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: manner of disease, to comfort the sorrowing, and to bring
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: peace to the distressed. First we must heal ourselves. When
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: we are healing others, we are all so healing ourselves.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: A healer's work takes place within himself. This idea of
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: sending out thought and holding thought is all a mistake.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Things come into being not only by taking thought, but
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: by knowing that the word is infinite. This word is
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: in your own mouth, and there alone can it be spoken. Here,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: your responsibility begins, and here it ends in your own mouth.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: You must feel no responsibility for the recovery of your patient,
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: for it brings confusion and urbans to be always wondering
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: if it is working. It must work. If you have
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: the sure faith and your patient is receptive, you are
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: dealing with the same power that is said, let there
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: be light, and there was light. If your patient is
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: suffering from a belief that he is dying of some
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: dread disease, you must know that when you speak the word,
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: it will destroy this false belief and set him free.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: There must be no doubt about the power in the
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: word which you speak. It should be said in perfect calm,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: in peace, and with absolute faith that it will work.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: This word then establishes the law of life unto the patient.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: It casts out all fear, It destroys all false sense
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: of material life, and realizes that all is an expression
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: of a perfect God and soul leaves nothing that can sin,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: be sick, suffer or die. When you are as sure
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: of this as that you breathe, when you truly know
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: within yourself, your patient will be healed, provided he also believes.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: If he does not believe, it is not your fault,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: and you will have done for him all that can
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: be done denials. Some people teach the use of denials.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: This must be settled by each individual for himself. Here
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: and at all times, we must settle every question from
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: within and not from without. No living soul can say
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: how another should or should not work. Be aware of
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: the danger of a self appointed authority. This danger is
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: as apt to come into new thought as it was
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: in the old. No one is your authority on anything.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Let us look into the philosophy of denials. We find
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: that many people teach and practice them, and we do
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: not wish in any way to criticize them. Their reasoning
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: is this all disease is an image of thought held
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: in mind until it appears in the body. It is
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: true that without the ability to think, man could not
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: be said. If he thinks a sick thought, it will
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: make him sick. When he changes his thought and thinks health,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: he is healed. It is taught that since sickness is
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: negative thought, it must be counteracted by a positive thought,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: and that the best way is to deny the sick
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: and affirm the positive thought. For instance, there is no matter,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: and nothing can be the matter. This man has no
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: material stomach. He is spiritual and not material. His lungs
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: are not made of matter. They are spiritual ideas. I
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: deny that man can be sick, or suffer or die.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: All this may be accurate. Man is a spiritual idea,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: and soul must be perfect in his real nature. But
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: there is a question if this is the better way.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: When we look into the creative way of the spirit,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: we find it impossible for denial to enter, as the
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: spirit recognizes no opposite to its own nature. It knows
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: that I am, and beside me there is no other.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: The spirit does not deny anything. It simply affirms itself
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: to be that which it desires to be seen, and
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: recognizing no opposite to itself, it finds no need of denial. Indeed,
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: this thought need not enter the mind. If we are
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: working with the spirit, we need not deny, but state
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: the affirmative attitude of mind, realizing that we are dealing
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: with the only power that exists. There is a subtle
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: danger in using denials. We may deny to such an
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: extent as to erect a barrier or build a mountain
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: to overcome. Once realize that God makes things out of himself,
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: simply by speaking, and you will never again use denials
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: in treating all that needs changing is the false thought.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: And by affirming that your word destroys everything but itself,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: you will embody all that a denial could. In those
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: systems that teach denials, we find that the more enlightened
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: ones are gradually using the affirmative method. And as this
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: is the growth of experience, there can be no doubt
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: that it is the better method of one thing. We
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: may be sure. The spirit never denies. It simply knows
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: that I am the use of affirmations. The affirmation is
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: the great weapon of the healer. It is in alignment
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: with the way of the original creative spirit, and is
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: the true use of the word of all power. We
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: need only to say that our word is the law
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: unto the case, and calmly state what we want to
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: be done, and then say and do nothing that contradicts it,
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: and wait for the fulfillment of that word. There is
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: a power that operates on what we say, and it
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: is done unto us, and we need have no fear
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: about the results. If I am treating Mary Jones, I
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: need only say I am helping her and go to
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: work within myself to realize that she is now a
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: perfect being made in the image of God. I must
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: know that I am destroying all imperfection. When I know
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: within myself that I am speaking the truth and realize
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: that she is perfect, the healing is done. As far
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: as I am concerned. If she receives she is healed,
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: I am not responsible for her receptivity. Know that there
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: is a power that corresponds to your own mental attitude,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: and you will see that the way you are believing
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: is what makes things happen the way they do. Always
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: believe in what you are doing. Never see the negative
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: side of life, never talk about it or listen to
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: talk of other people, and never think about or see imperfection,
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: and you will have no trouble in making demonstrations. The
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: highest attitude of mind, the highest attitude of mind from
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: which all else springs, is one of perfect calm and
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: absolute trust in the spirit. The one who can with
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: perfect confidence look into the future and with perfect ease
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: of mind rest in the present, and who never looks backward,
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: but who has learned to be still in his own
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: soul and wait upon the spirit, He is the one
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: who will the most completely demonstrate the supremacy of spiritual
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: thought over so called material resistance. Be still and know
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: that I am God, non resistance, Resist not evil, and
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: it will flee from you. Here is a statement of
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: one of the great laws of our being. When we resist,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: we make a mental image of the thing we are fighting,
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: and that tends to have it created for us. When
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: we learn to look only at what we want and
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: never at what we do not want, we will no
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: longer resist anything. Suffer it to be so. Now you
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: need not try to change the world. Let it alone.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: All people are doing the best they can. No one
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: needs to be saved but yourself. And the sooner you
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: realize this, the sooner you will attain. Get over that
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: holier than thou attitude. It is an illusion that many
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: people suffer from, especially in the religious world. The world
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: is all right, is not going to hell, It is
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: on the way to heaven. It is getting good so
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: fast that in the process many things are being overturned,
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: and confusion appears to be. On the surface, a great
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: change is taking place, and on the surface the results
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: are as yet a little mixed. But underneath the power
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: is at work destroying all unlike itself. In time, all
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: will come to see this. What a load of responsibility
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: we assume that we were never meant to carry. Remember
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: that in the divine plan no mistakes are made, and
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: that if God could have done it in a better way,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: he would have done it differently. No souls are lost,
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: for all live and move and have their being in Him.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: And God is not a god of the dead, but
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: of the living, for in Him, in his sight, all
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: are alive. Too long have we believed the negative, simply
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: because we have allowed ourselves to become hypnotized by a
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: few strong minded people and by those who have imposed
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: upon the race a mass of false philosophy. Be alive.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: There is no place in the new order for dead ones.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: The true metaphysician is alive to all that is useful,
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: filling his place in the events of the human race.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: He takes part in all its labor and in all
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: its fun. Pessimism must be relegated to the scrap heap.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: There is no place among the living for the dead.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: Let the dead bury their dead. Follow thou me. Do
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: not hesitate to enter into the game of life, but
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: do so with a zest and enthusiasm that overflows with life.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: Fill yourself with the radiance of a life running over
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: with power and usefulness. Then shall the world see your light.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: People in the new thought of of all others, should
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: enter into the business world, into educational vocations, into politics,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: into every walk of life, and there prove before a
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: waiting world tired of itself, that a man's a man
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: with this difference, not a son of man, but a
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: son of God. Be happy. How can we hope to
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: make a world see the right way unless we overflow
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: with joy. The world has now too many sad faces.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: We see them everywhere. That resigned look that seems to
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: say one rebuff more or less makes no difference. I
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: am already so sad that nothing matters. I can bear it.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: This was all right when we thought everything was all wrong,
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: But now we know that all's well with the world.
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: We must get over this depression which robs us of
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: the power of attraction of the good things of life,
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: and enter in. The man who is always glad will
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: surround himself with people who are happy, and life will
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: be a continual enjoyment. This robs no one. It does
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: not make a race of irresponsible people. It makes a
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: world of joy, a world that is good to live in.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: No one wants to associate with the dead. People are
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: looking for a more abundant expression of life, not for
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: depression and fault finding. Find fault with no one, and
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: more than this, find no fault with yourself. Get over
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: the thought of condemning people in things. People and things
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: are all right. Let them alone and enjoy life. Your
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: very atmosphere will cheer and uplift the people who contact you,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: and a new life will enter into them overflow. As
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: it is given to me to perceive, I most certainly
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: believe when a man's glad plumb through God's pleased with him. Sames,
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: you live in the present. Life is for us to day.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: There will be no change for tomorrow unless we do
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: the check. Changing to day to day, we are setting
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: in motion the power of tomorrow. Today is God's day,
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: and we must extract from it what of life we
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: are to live tomorrow in the divine course of events,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: will care for itself. The soul that learns to live
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: in the great gladness of to day will never weary
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: of life, but will find that he is living in
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: an eternal here and now. Now. All good is his now,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: all life, truth and love are his now he has
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: entered in, and the good things of life are his.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: To day, Lord, for tomorrow and its needs, I do
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: not pray, Make me do thy will, just for to day.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: Let your soul sing to day, and the song that
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: comes tomorrow will be all the sweeter. It will ring
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: out over the vistas of time with an unmistakable clearness.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: Here is a soul who knows himself and has found
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: life within himself, who has met God. To day, no
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: more waiting, no more longing, no more weary roads to travel.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: He has arrived. The goal is won, and peace has
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: come at last. To day, see good in all things,
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: Learn to see God in all manifestation, in all people,
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: through all events. The ordinary person sees only the lump
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: of matter. Not so with the awakened soul. He sees
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: in all things the divine mind at work, molding out
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: into expression what it feels itself to be, of life,
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: of color, of form and beauty. There are some disillusioned
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: ones who claim that what we see is all faults,
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: and that the so called material universe is an unreality.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: What a mistake. What we see is the body of God, full, free, complete,
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: whole of primrose by the river's brim, a yellow primrose
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: was to him, and it was nothing more. He never
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: saw the idea behind it, was seen only as matter matter.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: Yet what he could have seen was God's thought of
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: himself coming out into wonderful beauty and color and form,
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: the infinite when manifesting in an infinite variety of forms,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: What do you see when you look upon the human form,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: the crowning glory of God's perfect creation? Matter, matter, matter, flesh,
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: blood and bones. Indeed, these may be passing into expression.
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: But what of the idea? What of the reality of
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: the body. This body of ours is as real as
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: God is real. It would not be if it were
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: an illusion. The very touch of the flesh should send
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: a thrill through the whole body, bringing up its vibration
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: to a higher pitch, to a finer form. The body
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: is not one mass of pollution. It is the temple
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: of the living God and should be so thought of.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Too long have we condemned it, and now we must
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: free it by reversing the process us. Of all things
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: on earth, the human body is the most beautiful, the
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: most wonderful, and the most god like. If you do
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: not love your brother, whom you have seen, how can
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: you love God whom you have not seen. Human magnetism
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: is not hypnotism. It is the divinity of man in expression.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: And when we learn to convert human passion into divine love,
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: to transmute the lower into the higher, we shall have
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: with us a power of attraction against which nothing can stand.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: He who hath ears to hear, let him hear. When
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: we behold a beautiful sunset, we should see the wonderful
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: thought of God, the radiance of His presence. In the
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: strength of the hills, we should see the strength of
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: the spirit, and seen all things as spiritual ideas. We
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: should learn to love them because God has made them
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: and given them to us to use. The soul who
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: in ecstasy can rush up to a tree and embrace it,
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: realizes more of God then all the bigoted priests who
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: have ever lived. The one who can sniff the ocean
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: breeze with delight feels the presence of the divine being
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: more keenly than does the one who kneels in despair
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: before an awful God of justice. Learn then how to
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: appreciate nature and Nature's God. Spend much time in the
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: out of doors, look up at the stars. Let them
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: be your companions. Tread the pathless ways of the trees
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: and the giant forests, and see God in everything that
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: you look upon, the God of the everywhere. End of
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: Part two, Part three of the Creative Mind by Ernest
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: Shirtliff Holmes. This Librivots recording is in the public domain.
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: Be expectant, Expect the best to happen. Don't sit around
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: waiting for trouble. Have absolutely nothing to do with it.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: It is no part of the divine plan. It is
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: an illusion of the material sense. One who has learned
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: to trust will not be surprised even when he finds
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: things coming from the most unexpected sources. All things are
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: man's to use, and then let go of What more
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: can we ask? We want nothing that we have to keep.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: Things are to use, not to hold. Expect that everything
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: is to come your way. Be content and cheerful if
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: you wish to attract from out the store of the infinite.
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: Open up your whole consciousness to the greater possibilities of life.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Line up with the big things. When you speak the word,
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: expect it to happen. Know that it must be as
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: you say. This will not be fooling yourself it will
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: simply be using the law as it is meant to
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: be used, expanding our thought. All things come to us
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: through the use of our thought. If we have a
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: small concept of life, we will always be doing small things.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: First in the creative series is the word. But the
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: word carries us no further than our consciousness back of it.
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: Unless we are constantly expanding our thought, we are not growing.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: Growth is the law of life, and it is necessary.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: We cannot stand still. If you want to do a
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: new thing, get a new thought, and then you will
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: have the power of attraction, which has the possibility of
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: drawing to you the circumstances which will make for the
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: fulfillment of your desires. Get over the old idea of limitation,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: overcome all precedence, and set yourself in the new order
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: of things. If you want to build a railroad, you
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: will never do it unless you get over the idea
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: that the most you can hope for in life is
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: to sell peanuts. Let the people sell peanuts for a
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: living who think in the terms of peanuts. Get out
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: of the rut God has created you for a glorious future.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: Dare to fling out into mind the greater assurances about yourself.
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: The power of treatment. A treatment has as much power
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: as we put into the word which we speak when
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: we are giving it. This does not mean screen up
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: our mind, or using our will power, or using force.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: From the material standpoint, It means simply knowing that what
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: we say will be done unto us, of a power
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: which can do anything that is given it to do.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: We must know that our word breaks down every material
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: law and sets the patient free to express God. We
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: must know that the word would endure even though all
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: else should fail. Heaven and earth will pass away, but
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: my word will accomplish in calm, confidence and perfect faith.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Speak and weigh upon the perfect law. Get that mental
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: attitude that never wavers, be sure, and it will be done.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: Repeating the treatment one treatment would heal anything if it
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: were not for the fact that people are constantly receiving
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: false suggestions from the outer life. As it stands now,
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: we should until we get results, always expecting that it
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: will happen at once. Every treatment should be complete, and
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: at the close we should always realize that it is done.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: The word spoken once from the mind that knows is
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: immediately taken up by the mind in which we live,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: and this mind begins to create around the word, which
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: is the seed, the thing of thought. We must speak
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: that word with authority. There can be no wondering if
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: it's going to work. When we plant a seed in
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: the ground and water and care for it, we never doubt,
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: but a plant will spring into being. So it is
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: with the word. It is acted upon by some power
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: which we do not see. But that power is present.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: There is no doubt, since all who go about it
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: get results. As Thomas Edison says of electricity, it is
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: use it, so we say of mind, it is use it.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: Always remember that your every thought is the way you
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: are treating. Since it is the way that you are
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: thinking impersonal healing, the very presence of one that understands
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: the truth will have a great power of healing. The
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: reason for this is that we are all in mind,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: and we have with us at all times our thought.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: And since all manifestation is the result of mind in action,
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: and we are thinking beings and are always causing mind
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: to act, the very presence of our thought will have
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: some power to act upon whatever we are thinking about.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: We are dealing with the power, which in itself is limitless.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: We limit it, and so it cannot become to us
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: the bigger thing of itself. The power is the same
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: that made the worlds, and it cannot realize any sense
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: of limitation. They could not enter in because of their unbelief,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: and because they limited the Holy One of Israel. Stop
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: limiting things. Things are as big as we make them,
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: no more, no less. There is room at the top.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Get on top of everything, and dare to dominate the earth.
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: All things are given us to use, make use of them.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: Everything is limitless, and we must see the truth that
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: the fault is not in the law, but in ourselves.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: When we fail not with God but with man. Dare
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: dare dare? Think of the bigness of things in the universe,
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: Think of the number of grains of sand, the profusion
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: of all life, and never again limit anything. All is
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: yours to use. Jesus would never have become the Christ
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: unless he had had the courage to say, behold, I
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: am He. You will never attain until in some degree
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: you are able to say the same thing of yourself.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: We must learn to reach out and take what is
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: meant for us, the greater life, thee. All good people say, yes,
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: But how do you do it? Simply know that God
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: makes things out of himself by speaking the Word, and
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: that in your own life you can do the same.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: All people can think, and all all people can speak,
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: at least mentally. This is all that you need to
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: begin on. The Word is at the center of all
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: creation and is first cause, the starting point of all
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: that you see. The Word is in your own mouth,
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: and all that you have to do is to speak it.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: The trouble is that we are speaking the word, and
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: in the next breath we are denying its power by
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: seeing something that contradicts it. If the word is the
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: way that God creates, it is the right way. If
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: it works for God, shall it not work for us?
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: As yet, our word is more or less imperfect, But
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: more and more it will become perfect, and so the
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: outer condition will be brought up to the inner word.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: All words have as much power as we put into them.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: When we speak. The word is already in our own mouths.
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: That word is all that you will ever need to
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: bring happiness, health, and success to you. Do you wish
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: to live in a perfect world, peopled with friends who
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: love you, surrounded by all that is beautiful and pleasing.
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: Do you wish to have the good things of life.
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: There is but one way, and that way is as
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: sure as the sun shines. Forget all else, and think
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: only upon what you want. Control all thought that denies
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: the real. And as the mist disappears before the sun,
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: so shall all adversity melt before the shining radiance of
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: your own exalted thought. The prodigal Sun remained a prodigal
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: only so long as he chose to do so. When
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: the thought came to him to return, he was greeted
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: by the Father with outstretched hands. So shall we find
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: that when we turn to that world which is perfect,
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: there will be something that will turn with us, and
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: we shall behold the new Heaven and the new Earth.
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: Not in some far off place somewhere beyond the clouds,
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: but here and now shall we become free. We must
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: do away with all that hinders the true growth, all
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: little thoughts that hinder us from becoming human. Strife comes
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: from the thought that there is not enough to go around.
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: Forget it. We cannot use even what we see, and
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: what we do not see is infinite. You will rob
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: no one by becoming prosperous. And the laws that underlie
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: this state of being are simple and easy to understand
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: and not hard to attain. For the one who is
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: willing to let go of the negative state of being prosperity.
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: Here are a few simple rules for prosperity that are
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: as sure of working as that water is sure to
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: be wet. First, remember that nothing happens by chance. All
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: is law, and all is order. You create your own
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: laws every time you think there is something, call it
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: what you will. But there is a power around you
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: that knows and that understands all things. This power works
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: like the soil. It receives the seed of your thought
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: and at once begins to operate upon it. It will
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: receive whatever you give to it, and will create for
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: you and throw back at you whatever you think into it.
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: This means that the practitioner should be very careful how
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: he is thinking at all times. Not alone in the
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: moments of the deeper silence are we treating our patients.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: But perhaps more than this, we are treating them in
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: an impersonal way at all times. When we take a
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: patient into our thought for a treatment, there will be
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: a constant stream of consciousness flowing out to him during
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: all the time that he is in our care. We
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: should be very careful of our thoughts as we realize
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: the deep truths of mental action and reaction. What is
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: the spiritual mind? What is true spirituality? Many people have
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: asked this, and as many have answered it. I do
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: not pretend to know more about this all important topic
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: than others. But to the thinking person who has come
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: to realize that all is love, yet at the same
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: time all is governed by law, there must be a
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: different answer given than the one we ordinarily hear. The
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: average religious person thinks that spirituality must manifest in some
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: unnatural way way, such as giving up all personal pleasure
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: and becoming resigned to whatever happens. That we must give
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: up most of what life holds here that in some
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: far off future, perhaps we may attain. This is not
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: the case with the man Jesus. We have more accounts
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: of his being at feasts and weddings and similar gatherings
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: than at other places. His first miracle was performed at
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: a wedding feast, and we must remember that here he
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: even turned water into wine for the pleasure of the
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: guests of the house. Perhaps we have made a mistake
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: about what true spirituality means. Other people think we must
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: live some kind of an excluded life in order to
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: obtain Perhaps this may be true of the weak ones.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: But what of the world, what of the busy street?
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: Is it not to be saved? Also, Jesus spent much
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: time with the common people as well as with the rich,
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: and it is certain that he also spent much time
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: alone with the spirit. What is the spirit? Anyway? We
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: all answer why? Of course it is God. Where is
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: the Spirit? It is present at all times and in
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: all places. True spirituality must simply mean coming to realize
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: the presence of this spirit. It must be coming to
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: rely upon it more than anything else. The one, then,
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: who is the most spiritual, is simply the one who
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: realized the most. That's all. No matter where he is,
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: he must rely, he must trust, he must believe. We
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: do not have to give up anything but negative thought
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: and act. We do not want to do anything that
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: contradicts the forward march of the enfoldment of the Spirit.
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: So all that we think can do must be in
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: line with that which is right. But who shall say
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: what is and what is not right? Remember this forever,
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: only your own soul can say what is right and
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: what is wrong. To thine own self be true, and
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: it shall follow as the night the day. Thou canst
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: not then be false to any man. Look to no
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: one for guidance. This is the blind leading the blind.
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: The Almighty has put the truth into your own soul.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: Look there and there alone for it. Many people seem
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: to think that for a man to looks spiritual, he
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: must have no color in his face, have some kind
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: of far away truth. He must be peculiar, either in
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: looks or in the way he dresses. To one who
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: knows the truth, both praise and blame sound alike. But
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: from the human standpoint at least a person cannot help
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: being amused at the way in which the world judges
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: true spirituality. My idea of true spirituality is that a
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: man should live a perfectly normal life, entering into and
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: enjoying all in life that is clean and good. He
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: should place himself absolutely under divine guidance. Other than this,
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: he will seem just like other people, neither better nor worse.
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: Get over all kinds of unnatural thought, and remember that
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: all is good. Neither criticize nor condemn people or things.
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: You are spiritual in so far as you trust in
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: the Spirit at all times, in all places, under all conditions.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: In order to do this, you do not have to
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: seclude yourself from the world. To do so is an
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: open confession of your own weakness and lack. There are
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: moments when it is best to be alone with the power.
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: From these moments we gather strength. To keep that strength
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: to ourselves is pure selfishness. Walk, talk, live with the
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: human race, and in hand with all people, and unified
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: with all events. Live and love and learn, be natural
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: and normal. If you seek to enter some other way,
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: it must be done over again. For no one lives
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: or dies unto himself, but unto all people. The Church
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: of God, the Church of God is not built with hands.
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: It is eternal in the heavens. It is not lighted
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: with candles. Its dome is heaven, and it is lighted
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: by the stars of God's illumined thought. And each member,
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: in its separate star shall draw the thing as he
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: sees it for the God of things, as they are here,
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: all people recognize the God within their own souls, and
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: ask for and see no other God. When you can
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: look upon all creation as the perfect work of a
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: perfect God, you will become a member of this church.
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: I doubt very much if the Church universal admits members
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: from the Church individual. When you can see in the
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: saint and the sinner one and the same person. When
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: you can realize that the one who kneels before the
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: altar and the one who lies drunk in the street
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: is the same one. When you can love the one
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: as much as you do the other, no doubt you
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: will be able to qualify. As it is now, we
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: have too many preachers who do not understand, that have
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: no purpose, too many prayers, too many creeds, too many
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: teachers that have no message, too many churches, too many
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: learned people, and too few thinkers. The Kingdom of Heaven
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: cometh not by observation. It is the still small voice
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: within the soul. It speaks the expanded thought. Will never
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: wish to join or be joined to. Nothing human can
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: contain it. It feels the limitation of forem and ceremony,
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: and longs for the freedom of the spirit, the great
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: out of doors, the great God of everywhere. Alone in
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: the desert, the forest, or by the restless ocean, looking
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: up at the stars, man breathes forth these words with
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: only my maker and me. The path to prosperity, the
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: healing of conditions, is no different from other healing. All
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: healing is the constructive use of a mental law which
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: the world is gradually beginning to understand something of. Again,
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: we must reiterate the principle of all life. We are
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: surrounded by a thinking medium from which all things come.
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: We think into it. It does the rest. Since we
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: are thinking beings and cannot stop thinking, and since creative
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: mind receives our thought and cannot stop creating, it must
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: always be making something for us. What it will make
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: depends absolutely and only upon what we are thinking. And
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: what we will attract will depend entirely upon our holding
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: thought to the complete exclusion of all that would contradict it.
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: It is not enough that we should sit down and
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: say I am one with infinite life. This must mean
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: more than mere words. It must be felt. It must
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: become an embodiment of a positive mental attitude. It is
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: not claiming something to be true which is going to happen.
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: It is not sending out an aspiration or a desire,
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: or a supplication or a prayer. It must be the
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: embodiment of that which knows that now it is. This
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: is more than holding a thought. Our ability to attract
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: will depend upon the largeness of our thought, as we
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: feel that it flows out into a great universal creative power.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: We are dealing with the form in thought, and not
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: with the form in matter. We have learned that when
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: we get the true form in thought and permeate it
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: with the spirit of belief, we will see the thought
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: made flesh without any further effort on our part. Thought
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: can attract us only to that which we first mentally embody.
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: We cannot attract to ourselves that which we are not.
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: We can attract in the outer only that which we
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: have first completely mentally embodied, within, that which has become
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: a part of our mental make up, a part of
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: our inner understanding. A man going into business will attract
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: to himself that which he thinks about the most. If
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: he is a barber, he will attract people who want
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: to be shaved or have their hair cut. If he
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: sells shoes, he will attract people who want to buy shoes.
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: So it is with everything. We will not only do this,
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: but we will also attract as much of anything as
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: we mentally embody. This is apt to be overlooked in
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: the study of metaphysics. It is not enough to say
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: that we attract what we think. We become what we think,
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: and what we become we will attract. Do not become
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: a merely sentimental about this. Your life is governed by
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: more than a sentiment. It is governed by law, something
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: that cannot be broken, something that picks up every mental
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: attitude and does something with it. This fundamental proposition of
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: the law should then work out into our conditions. Always
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: remember that it does just as we think. It does
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: not argue. It simply does the thing as we think it. Now,
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: how are we thinking? Never ask a patient how he
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: is feeling? Ask how are you thinking today? This is
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: the only thing that matters. How are we thinking about
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: life and our conditions? Are we receiving the race suggestion?
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: Are we saying that there is not enough to go around?
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: If we are saying this, it is our belief, and
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: there is something that will see that it becomes a
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: part of our expression. Most people, through ignorance of the
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: higher laws of their being, are suffering from the thoughts
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: imposed upon them from a negative and doubtful world. We
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: who are claiming the use of the greater law, must
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: emancipate ourselves from all sense of limitation. We are not
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: to be governed by the outer confusion, but by the
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: inner realization. We are to judge life not from the
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: way that things in the past have been done, but
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: from the way that the Spirit does things. The way
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: of the Spirit. Again, let us say that the spirit
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: creates by becoming the thing that it thinks. There is
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: no other possible way in which it could work. Since
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: it is all and there is no other. The thought
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: of opposing forces never enters into its mental working. When
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: we are judging from the outer we are not working
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: in line with the power that we should be using.
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: We must come to see that there is only one power,
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: and that we are touching it at all points. For
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: there is not a power of poverty and a power
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: of prosperity. There is the one becoming the many. It makes,
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: and it unmakes that a higher form may appear to
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: express through it. All that is not in line with
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: its forward movement will soon pass away, for it recognizes
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: no opposite. As far as we are concerned, what we
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: are and what we are to become depends only upon
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: what we are thinking. For this is the way that
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: we are using creative power. The sooner we get away
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: from the thought that we have to create, the sooner
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: we will be able to work in line with the spirit.
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: Always man uses, he never creates anything. The united intelligence
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: of the human race could not make a single rosebud.
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: It is not know enough. But our slightest thought adrift
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: in mind, causes the same power that makes all things
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: to create for us. The great error of the race
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: is and always has been, that men have thought to
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: give a physical reason for things. When that reason has
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: not answered the problem of life, they have sought out
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: some other reason, just as physical. The fact that they
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: are all wrong is shown that in every generation has
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: found a different reason. When truth is found, it will
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: also be found that it never changes to suit the
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: whim of the human fancy. This is proven by the
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: fact that whatever of the real truth the race has
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: discovered has never been changed. The truth that was revealed
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: to the prophets of old has never changed. It is
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: the same today as it was thousands of years ago.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: Whoever touches truth, no matter in what generation, will always
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: get the same answer. The great truth that was revealed
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: from Moses to the time of Jesus is the same
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: truth that is still revealed to all who will accept it.
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: It is simply this we are now living in a
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: spiritual universe governed by mental laws of cause and effect.
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: Moses saw it mostly from the standpoint of the law
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: of cause and effect. An eye for an eye. What
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: does this mean? It means, as Jesus said, as a
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: man souls, so shall he reap. Moses saw the law.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: Jesus saw not only the law I am not come
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: to disc but to fulfill. But he saw behind the
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: law the reason for it, and revealed behind all law
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: the great lawgiver, a God of love, working out the
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: great inner concepts of his own being in harmony and
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: in beauty, filled with peace, causing the sun to shine
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: alike upon the just and the unjust. Jesus did not
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: try to overcome the use of law. He understood all law,
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: and he well knew that all law was at his command.
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: He did not break the law, he fulfilled it. So
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: we must find that all is at our command through
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: these same laws. The man who understands law and complies
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: with it will have no difficulty in demonstrating that it
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: is as true for him as it ever was for
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: anyone else. What then, are the law's underlying prosperity. The
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: first is this, and we must not try to escape it.
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: Thou shalt have no other gods before me. This me
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: is Spirit. We are then to trust only in the
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: activity of Spirit for what we need. But the world
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: will say human things come through human agencies. This may
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: be true, but we must realize that the power we
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: are dealing with also has within its own mind all
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: people and all things. We do not have to treat people.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: What we have to do is to embody principle. Principle
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: may use people, but that is no part of our responsibility. Ultimately,
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: all is spirit, and spirit, which is the beginning, is
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: also the end of all manifestation. I am the Alpha
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: and the Omega. Our life, then, is to be governed
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: by spirit. We need look no further. It will do
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: for us all that we will ever ask, provided we believe.
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: Why then has it not done so? The answer is
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: that it has already been done so, but we have
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: not received it. The Spirit may offer, but we must
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: accept the gift before it can be made. Behold, I
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: stand at the door knock. We must understand that this
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: receiving is a mental process. It is one of mentally taking.
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: The way then that we are using our mind through
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: our thought is the way that we are treating ourselves
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: for prosperity, so simple, and yet we have not understood it.
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: If a man says I have not, he will not receive.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: If he says I have, he will receive. To those
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: who have shall be given, and to those who have
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: not shall be taken away, even that which they have.
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: This is a veiled statement of the law of cause
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: and effect. When you send out into mind the thought
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: that you have not, it accepts the idea and takes
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: away from you that which you have. Reverse the process
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: and say I have, and it will at once set
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: to work to create for you even more than you
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: now possess. You will readily see then that you are
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: not dealing with two powers, but with one, and that
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: it operates through your own thought, doing unto all, even
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: as they believe. The level of consciousness, since all is
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: mind and it is done unto us as we mentally think,
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: all life is simply a law of thought activity of consciousness.
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: In our life, the power flows through us. If we
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: provide a big receptivity, it will do a big thing. If,
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: on the other hand, we only believe in a small way,
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: the activity must be a small one. The spirit can
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: do for us only what it can do through us.
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: Unless we are able to provide the consciousness, it cannot
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: make the gift. Few people have a great consciousness, and
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: this explains why so few excel. The power behind all
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: things of itself is without limit. It is all power
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: in us. It has to become what we make. It.
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: We carry within our own soul the key to all expression.
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: But few enter in. The door is not seen with
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: the physical eye, and as yet but few have gained
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: the ability to see. The majority merely look. Realizing then
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: that while the power is limitless, it must become operative
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: through our own thought, we shall see that what we
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: need is not some greater power, but that what we
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: really need is a greater consciousness, a deeper realization of life,
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: a grander concept of being. We must unify ourselves with
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: the great whole. The man who dares to fling his
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: thought out into universal intelligence, with the positive assurance of
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: one who knows and dares to claim all there is,
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: will find that it will be done. God will honor
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: his request. On the other hand, the one who fears
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: to speak lest God will smite will find himself smitten
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: of the law. Not because God is angry, but because
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: it is done as he believes. We have a right
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: to have and should expect to have in this world
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: all that will make for the comfort and for the
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: luxuries of life. What matter how much we have, if
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: we rob no other soul to get it, shall not
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: the power that soul lavishly spreads itself out into nature
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: give to us its highest expression all that we can ask.
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: We dishonor God when we claim less than all. Until
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: we can expand our thought so that we shall be
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: able to say, also, I am, we need not expect
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: to get great results. The soul knows that its own
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: divinity is the great soul before it. All else must
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: bend to it. All else must gravitate. Enlarge your thought
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: process away with the little personal thoughts of things, and
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: dare to think in universal terms about all things. The
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: universe is running over with good. It is for you,
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: But you must believe and then take it. Do you
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: dare to believe that your own word is invincible when
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: you speak it? How do you feel? Is it limitless?
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: Is it all power? Is all power given to you
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: in heaven and on earth? Are you the one with
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: the only power that there is? Until you can say
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: yes to all these questions, and not simp believe them,
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: but know them, you cannot hope to attain. It is
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: useless in making demonstrations to beg for things as well,
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: beg that water should be wet or that fire should
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: be hot. Things are, we must take them. Your word
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: has only the power that you put into it, no
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: more and no less. We are all held accountable for
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: every word that we speak, because all is the action
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: and the reaction of mind. Man is his own heaven
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: and his own hell. We start a new enterprise, and
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: wonder what the chances of success are. Have we realized
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: that the outer is simply the inner manifested. When we
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: go to a new place, we shall find there only
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: what we have taken with us. If we have taken success,
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: we will find success. If, on the other hand, we
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: have taken failure, we will find failure. This is the law.
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: None can avoid it, none need try. Every living soul
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: is a law unto his own life. There is no
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: law but my own soul shall set. Nothing can come
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: upon the path of the soul but that thing that
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: the soul attracts. Practice for prosperity. Prosperity is in our
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: own hands to do with as we will, but we
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: will never reach it until we learn to control our thought.
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: We must see only what we want and never allow
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: the other things to enter. If we wish activity, we
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: must be active in our thought. We must see activity
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: and speak it into everything that we do. The spoken
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: word shall bring it to pass. We speak the word,
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: it is brought to pass. Of the power that we
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: speak it into. We can only speak the word that
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: we understand. The activity will correspond to our inner concepts.
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: If they are large, the results will be large. The
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: thing to do is to unify ourselves with all the
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: biggest ideas that we can compass, and realizing that our
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: ideas govern our power of attraction. We should be constantly
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: enlarging within ourselves. We must realize our at onement with
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: all power, and know that our word will bring it
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: to pass. We speak the word, it is brought to pass.
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: As consciousness grows, it will manifest in enlarged opportunities and
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: in a greater field of action. Most people think in
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: the terms of universal powers. Feel that you are surrounded
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: by all the power that there is when you speak,
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: and never doubt but that what you will say will
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: spring into being. We should speak right out into mind
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: all that we desire, and believe that it will be
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: done unto us. Never take the time to listen to
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: those who doubt. We observe that their philosophy has done
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: but little to save the world or themselves. Here again,
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: let the dead bury the dead, and see to it
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: that you maintain in your own thought what you want,
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: letting go of all else, think only what you want
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: to happen, and never let yourself get mentally lazy and sluggish,
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: taking on the suggestions of poverty and limitation. See yourself
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: as being in the position that you desire mentally, dwell
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: upon it, and then speak with perfect assurance that it
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: is done, and then forget it and trust in the law.
- 2:00:11Speaker 1: This will answer all needs. If you want to do
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: this for some one else, all that you will need
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: to do is to think of them and go through
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: the same process of mind action. You will be sending
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: out the truth for them, and mind, being always active,
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: will not contradict what you have said. Remember that you
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: cannot hope to get results unless you keep the one
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: idea and do not make your thoughts in your mind.
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: It is all yours, but you must take it. The
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: taking is always a mental process. It is believing absolutely.
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: This is divine principle. Conclusion. Principle itself is simplicity, yet
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: it is infinite. It is infinite mind and manifestation of mind.
- 2:00:55Speaker 1: We live in a spiritual universe, governed through thought or
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: the word, which first becomes law. This law creates what
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: we call matter. Jesus Christ discerned the truth about spiritual
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: principles more than any other man who ever lived, and
- 2:01:09Speaker 1: he proclaimed the eternal reign of law and understanding, absolute,
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: complete perfect. He found that law to be operative through
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: his own thought and the power of his own word.
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: And when you and I shall cease looking outside ourselves
- 2:01:24Speaker 1: to any person, and shall realize that whatever truth and
- 2:01:27Speaker 1: whatever power we shall have must flow through us. When
- 2:01:31Speaker 1: we begin to interpret our own natures, we shall begin
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: to understand God and law and life. And not until
- 2:01:38Speaker 1: then we live and move and have our being in
- 2:01:41Speaker 1: what we call an infinite mind, an infinite creative mind,
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: also infinitely receptive, operative, omnipotent, and all knowing. And we
- 2:01:52Speaker 1: have learned that this mind presses against us on all sides,
- 2:01:55Speaker 1: flows through us, and becomes operative through our thinking. The
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: human race, ignorant of the laws of this mind, ignorant
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: of the power of its own thought, has through its ignorance,
- 2:02:07Speaker 1: misused and abused the creative power of its thought, and
- 2:02:10Speaker 1: brought upon itself the thing it feared. This is true
- 2:02:14Speaker 1: because all thought is law, and all law is mind
- 2:02:17Speaker 1: in action. And the word which you speak today is
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: the law which shall govern your life tomorrow, as the
- 2:02:23Speaker 1: word which you spoke ignorantly or innocently, consciously or unconsciously
- 2:02:28Speaker 1: yesterday is absolutely governing your life today. As metaphysicians, then
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: we are not dealing with a material nor de nine
- 2:02:37Speaker 1: a manifest universe. But we are claiming that the manifestation
- 2:02:41Speaker 1: is the result of the interactivity of the mind, and
- 2:02:44Speaker 1: if we wish for a definite manifestation, we must produce
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: a definite inneractivity. You and I then are not dealing
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: with conditions, but with mental and spiritual law. We are
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: dealing with the power of thought, the power of mind.
- 2:03:00Speaker 1: And the more spiritual the thought, the higher the manifestation,
- 2:03:04Speaker 1: the more our reliance on what we call God, the
- 2:03:07Speaker 1: greater the power. It is the new education because it
- 2:03:10Speaker 1: strips all the faults from the old belief and reveals
- 2:03:13Speaker 1: the individual. It is the new age because as sure
- 2:03:17Speaker 1: as God is, it will usher in and express the
- 2:03:20Speaker 1: perfect life, the revelation of this truth and our ability
- 2:03:25Speaker 1: to use it. And it is your own fault when
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: you know this and do not prove it. If knowing
- 2:03:30Speaker 1: the infinite power flowing through you, you still remain sick
- 2:03:33Speaker 1: and unhappy, miserable and poor, my friend, it is your
- 2:03:37Speaker 1: own fault. Do not blame God, do not blame man,
- 2:03:41Speaker 1: and do not say it's of the devil. It's your
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: own fault. Every time you say I am, you are
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: recognizing the eternal, infinite presence of omnipotent power within yourself,
- 2:03:54Speaker 1: which is God operating through your thought. And that is
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: why you bring upon yourself the thing you feel, and
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: why you bring to yourself the thing you want. The
- 2:04:04Speaker 1: day when fifty one percent of your thinking is health,
- 2:04:07Speaker 1: life and power, that fifty one percent will swallow up
- 2:04:11Speaker 1: a race, kill out the rest. The day you, as
- 2:04:14Speaker 1: an individual, through fifty one percent of your thought pass
- 2:04:18Speaker 1: beyond the perception of limitation is the day that you
- 2:04:21Speaker 1: will draw out of the universe everything you desire. Poverty
- 2:04:25Speaker 1: will desert you, and you will be emancipated forever. The
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: day that your thought is fifty one percent happiness is
- 2:04:32Speaker 1: the day that misery shall depart and never return. Is
- 2:04:36Speaker 1: it not then worth your time and your effort, And
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: should it not be the greatest purpose in the life
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: of any awakened soul. So to depict this principle as
- 2:04:45Speaker 1: to emancipate himself the way can be shown, but each
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: individual must himself walk the way. We are so bound
- 2:04:53Speaker 1: by suggestion and hypnotized by false belief, so entangled by
- 2:04:57Speaker 1: the chaotic thinking of the world, thinking which is base
- 2:05:00Speaker 1: upon the principle of a dual mind, that we become
- 2:05:03Speaker 1: confused and are not ourselves. Wake up. Your word is
- 2:05:07Speaker 1: all powerful, Your consciousness is one with omnipotence, Your thought
- 2:05:12Speaker 1: is infinite, your destiny is eternal, and your home is everlasting. Heaven.
- 2:05:18Speaker 1: Realize the truth. I am living in a perfect universe.
- 2:05:22Speaker 1: It always was perfect and always will be perfect. There
- 2:05:26Speaker 1: never was a mistake made, There are no mistakes being made,
- 2:05:29Speaker 1: and there never will be. I live in the great
- 2:05:32Speaker 1: and eternal universe of perfection, from cause to effect, from
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: beginning to end. And the world is all right, and
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: I know it. Majestic and calm, waiting with eternal and
- 2:05:44Speaker 1: divine patience, the Great principle of life is ready to
- 2:05:47Speaker 1: give to us all that it has, And while we
- 2:05:50Speaker 1: listen and wait, we will cast from us everything that
- 2:05:54Speaker 1: hinders its complete expression. Through us. We will let go
- 2:05:57Speaker 1: of all struggle and all strife, and be a par
- 2:06:00Speaker 1: with life, perfect peace to the soul as we rest
- 2:06:03Speaker 1: in the realization of our unity with all that there is, was,
- 2:06:07Speaker 1: or ever will be one with the infinite mind. All
- 2:06:11Speaker 1: the power of the Spirit is working through our thought.
- 2:06:14Speaker 1: As we believe and receive. Now we will ask for
- 2:06:18Speaker 1: and take that thing which we desire. It is done.
- 2:06:21Speaker 1: It is complete now and forever, Perfect life, perfect healing,
- 2:06:27Speaker 1: perfect harmony, divine guidance, infinite strength and joy forever and
- 2:06:34Speaker 1: of Part three, Part four of Creative Mind by Ernest
- 2:06:49Speaker 1: Schertliff Holmes. This LibriVox recording is in the public domain.
- 2:06:54Speaker 1: Questions and answers. What is the truth? The truth is
- 2:06:58Speaker 1: that which is. It is all that is, as there
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: cannot be something and nothing, so the truth being that
- 2:07:05Speaker 1: which is, must at the same time be all that
- 2:07:08Speaker 1: there is. Where is the truth? If the truth is all,
- 2:07:12Speaker 1: it must be everywhere. Being all, there is no other
- 2:07:15Speaker 1: substance to divide it. With being undivided. It is everywhere
- 2:07:19Speaker 1: present all truth, which means all power must be present
- 2:07:24Speaker 1: at all points or at any given point, at any
- 2:07:27Speaker 1: and all times. Has the truth changed. A substance cannot
- 2:07:32Speaker 1: change unless there is something for it to change into.
- 2:07:35Speaker 1: Since the truth is all, it cannot change, for there
- 2:07:39Speaker 1: is no other thing for it to change into. Whatever
- 2:07:42Speaker 1: is the truth, then has never changed. Is the truth
- 2:07:46Speaker 1: or that which is one or many? It must be one,
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: since it is all. Is the truth conscious? Yes, man
- 2:07:53Speaker 1: is conscious. He could not be so unless truth, or
- 2:07:56Speaker 1: life or conscious man's self consciousness proves the self consciousness
- 2:08:01Speaker 1: of life or truth or spirit like produces like what
- 2:08:06Speaker 1: comes out of life? Everything that is comes out of life.
- 2:08:10Speaker 1: If life is all, then it follows that all that
- 2:08:13Speaker 1: is is some form of life. How does life make things?
- 2:08:17Speaker 1: Being all? It must make things out of itself. It
- 2:08:21Speaker 1: must operate upon itself, through itself and out of itself,
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: must make all that is made being conscious. It must
- 2:08:28Speaker 1: know that it is doing this. What would we call
- 2:08:32Speaker 1: this inner movement of life? The inner movement of life?
- 2:08:35Speaker 1: Or consciousness? We would call thought or the self knowing
- 2:08:38Speaker 1: of life or spirit. Then the universe and all that
- 2:08:42Speaker 1: is a part of it comes from thought. Yes, everything
- 2:08:45Speaker 1: comes from thought. Do we not see a visible world
- 2:08:49Speaker 1: that seems to change? And if we do, how is
- 2:08:52Speaker 1: it that it could come from something that never changes? Yes,
- 2:08:56Speaker 1: we do see a changing world, but back of it
- 2:08:58Speaker 1: is a changeless substance. The thing that changes is the
- 2:09:02Speaker 1: thought or form. The substance from which this form comes
- 2:09:06Speaker 1: never changes. It is one and undivided, and takes form
- 2:09:10Speaker 1: through thought in all things. We prove this when we
- 2:09:14Speaker 1: resolve all things into one source. All material things so
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: called can be reduced into formless substance, the sole activity
- 2:09:22Speaker 1: of which must be thought, or the movement of intelligence
- 2:09:25Speaker 1: upon itself. What causes form to change the intelligence behind it?
- 2:09:31Speaker 1: Is there nothing in the universe then, but life, thought,
- 2:09:34Speaker 1: and form? These are all. If this is true, what
- 2:09:38Speaker 1: is physical law? Physical law is simply the result of
- 2:09:42Speaker 1: the inner movement of life. If things and laws are
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: the result of the inner movement of life, then does
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: it not follow that thoughts are things? Yes, all things
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: are simply thought forms. How long does thought last as form?
- 2:09:57Speaker 1: As long as the thought is held in life or mind?
- 2:10:01Speaker 1: Does the thought of life, mind, or good ever change?
- 2:10:05Speaker 1: From all that we can know, the thought of God
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: seems to change. That is, planets change, take form, and
- 2:10:12Speaker 1: again become formless. When we realize that all this can
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: take place without ever changing the substance behind it, we
- 2:10:19Speaker 1: see no reason why God's thought could not change and
- 2:10:22Speaker 1: ever build up a higher form. Indeed, this is one
- 2:10:26Speaker 1: of the teachings of ancient wisdom, that while reality never changes,
- 2:10:30Speaker 1: the form that it takes is ever changing. What is
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: man's place in the creative order? Man is a thinking
- 2:10:37Speaker 1: center in mind, reproducing in a smaller scale all that
- 2:10:40Speaker 1: there is in the universe. Does this not make man's
- 2:10:44Speaker 1: thought creative? In a certain sense? It does. What we
- 2:10:47Speaker 1: call creation is not making something out of nothing, but
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: it is thought taking form. And as man thinks, and
- 2:10:54Speaker 1: as thought must take form, then it must follow that
- 2:10:57Speaker 1: man's thought must take form in mind and so become creative.
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: What is man's thought? It is the activity of that
- 2:11:05Speaker 1: something within that can say I am. What is the
- 2:11:10Speaker 1: difference between God and man? The very fact that man
- 2:11:13Speaker 1: can say I am proves that he is. Since he is,
- 2:11:18Speaker 1: he must be made out of life and must be
- 2:11:20Speaker 1: some part of all that there is. This being, so
- 2:11:24Speaker 1: man must be a part of God's consciousness. The difference
- 2:11:27Speaker 1: would be in degree only. He must be as much
- 2:11:30Speaker 1: of life as he recognizes himself to be. Is all
- 2:11:34Speaker 1: of man's thought creative? Yes, all or none? If one
- 2:11:39Speaker 1: thought produces, then all must. If this is true, how
- 2:11:43Speaker 1: is it that man seems to be so limited because
- 2:11:47Speaker 1: he has thought? Limitation and thoughts are things that will
- 2:11:50Speaker 1: always make the thing thought of. In reality, the very
- 2:11:53Speaker 1: fact that man's thought can limit him also proves that
- 2:11:56Speaker 1: it could free him from all limitation by simply change
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: his thought. But why is man so made that he
- 2:12:03Speaker 1: can think two ways? This is a question that can
- 2:12:06Speaker 1: be answered only in one way. Unless a man can
- 2:12:09Speaker 1: think as he wants to think, he would not be
- 2:12:11Speaker 1: a man at all, but simply a piece of mechanism.
- 2:12:15Speaker 1: Man is an individual, and that means self choice back
- 2:12:18Speaker 1: by a power that will produce the thing chosen. In
- 2:12:21Speaker 1: discovering himself, man chooses many things, uses them, and passes
- 2:12:26Speaker 1: to a higher choice, ever sending in the scale of being.
- 2:12:30Speaker 1: As fast as he chooses, he experiences that thing which
- 2:12:33Speaker 1: he thinks about. What is evil? Evil is the result
- 2:12:38Speaker 1: of a lack of clear sein based upon a belief
- 2:12:41Speaker 1: in two powers and limitation of what we call sin.
- 2:12:44Speaker 1: Is the result of man struggle to find himself. If
- 2:12:48Speaker 1: this be true, why could we not at once begin
- 2:12:51Speaker 1: to change our whole life by first changing our thought?
- 2:12:54Speaker 1: We could. We would not be changing real substance, but
- 2:12:58Speaker 1: we would be changing the form that it takes through
- 2:13:00Speaker 1: our thought. All that we can change is the form
- 2:13:03Speaker 1: of thought through which experiences come to us. What is
- 2:13:07Speaker 1: the limit of man's creative use of mind? Man is
- 2:13:11Speaker 1: limited by nothing but his own thinking, by his mental
- 2:13:14Speaker 1: ability to conceive what is meant by mental conception? All
- 2:13:19Speaker 1: things are produced by thought. The thing produced from mind
- 2:13:23Speaker 1: is first formed in thought. Thought mold's mind into form.
- 2:13:27Speaker 1: But do we not have to act? We cannot think
- 2:13:30Speaker 1: without acting. An inactive body is the result of an
- 2:13:34Speaker 1: inactive mind. In using our creative powers, how far do
- 2:13:39Speaker 1: we have to consider the conditions under which we live?
- 2:13:42Speaker 1: We do not have to consider them at all. Conditions
- 2:13:45Speaker 1: are the result, the effect, and not the cause. We
- 2:13:48Speaker 1: create them as fast as we think. How would a
- 2:13:52Speaker 1: person start to change conditions by first changing thought and
- 2:13:56Speaker 1: realizing that we are not dealing with an illusion but
- 2:13:59Speaker 1: with the great reality, then by acting as though we
- 2:14:02Speaker 1: already have what we think. How long would it take
- 2:14:06Speaker 1: to do this as long as it would take to
- 2:14:09Speaker 1: let go of all negative thought and embody all positive thought.
- 2:14:13Speaker 1: This would depend entirely upon the individual and his mental
- 2:14:16Speaker 1: ability to control thought. What would hinder us the most ourselves.
- 2:14:22Speaker 1: No one gives to us but ourselves, and no one
- 2:14:24Speaker 1: takes from us but ourselves. Can No one else help
- 2:14:28Speaker 1: us only to a limited degree. While we may be
- 2:14:32Speaker 1: helped by those who understand the law for a time,
- 2:14:35Speaker 1: yet sooner or later we must ourselves take the creative
- 2:14:38Speaker 1: responsibility of our own lives. Others may think for us
- 2:14:41Speaker 1: for a few moments a day, but we think for
- 2:14:44Speaker 1: ourselves all the time. But does not God help us? Yes,
- 2:14:49Speaker 1: God helps all, but must do it through law, All's love,
- 2:14:53Speaker 1: Yet all's law. How should we pray by giving thanks
- 2:14:57Speaker 1: that we already have that thing that we pray for?
- 2:15:00Speaker 1: By completely believing and never doubting. When you pray, believe
- 2:15:04Speaker 1: that you have received and you shall receive. We must
- 2:15:08Speaker 1: be sure that in no way shall we think, act,
- 2:15:11Speaker 1: or talk or read about limitation. We must all be
- 2:15:14Speaker 1: a law unto ourselves. Definitions, God, infinite spirit, self, knowing, mind, life, truth, intelligence, love,
- 2:15:26Speaker 1: all cause, and all effect, that invisible power which makes
- 2:15:30Speaker 1: all things out of itself by an inner action of
- 2:15:33Speaker 1: its own thought upon itself. The visible universe, the ideas
- 2:15:38Speaker 1: of God in expression, the body of God, expression of
