New Mexico Epstein Truth Commission Left With Vacant Seat (10/27/26) · The Vault: The Epstein Files

• 0:00
Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. Down in New Mexico, they established a so-called
• 0:08
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein Truth Committee, and the goal was to get
• 0:12
Speaker 1: to the bottom of what Epstein was up to in
• 0:14
Speaker 1: New Mexico. Well, like everything else that has to do
• 0:18
Speaker 1: with Jeffrey Epstein, the shit spiraled into a political standoff,
• 0:23
Speaker 1: where both sides just lobbed allegations at each other, while
• 0:26
Speaker 1: seemingly forgetting what the whole entire purpose of that commission was.
• 0:30
Speaker 1: was supposed to be for. And now, there is a
• 0:33
Speaker 1: vacant seat on that commission, and the New Mexico House Speaker, Mr. Martinez,
• 0:38
Speaker 1: won't be taking the seat after Andrea Reeb had to
• 0:43
Speaker 1: resign from that position, after losing her job as a
• 0:46
Speaker 1: state lawmaker, and from the commission, after a judge ruled
• 0:51
Speaker 1: that her role as a lawmaker conflicted with her work
• 0:55
Speaker 1: as a special prosecutor in the involuntary manslaughter case against
• 0:59
Speaker 1: actor Alec Baldwin. So you know how I always tell
• 1:02
Speaker 1: you that Massachusetts is a supremely fucked up place? Well,
• 1:07
Speaker 1: so is New Mexico. And these politicians that are in
• 1:10
Speaker 1: charge down in New Mexico, maybe they should all be investigated.
• 1:15
Speaker 1: Today we have an article from the source New Mexico
• 1:18
Speaker 1: and the headline, New Mexico House Speaker Martinez Won't Fill
• 1:22
Speaker 1: Vacancy on Epstein Truth Commission. This article was authored by
• 1:26
Speaker 1: Joshua Bolling. New Mexico Speaker of the House, Javier Martinez,
• 1:31
Speaker 1: will not fill a vacant seat on the investigatory subcommittee
• 1:35
Speaker 1: dedicated to investigating the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's time
• 1:39
Speaker 1: in New Mexico. So unfortunately, like I said from the jump,
• 1:44
Speaker 1: we got ourselves another situation here where they're just playing politics.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: It's all about the optics. It's not about getting anything done.
• 1:51
Speaker 1: The only real movement that's coming out of New Mexico, obviously,
• 1:54
Speaker 1: is a lawsuit that's been filed against Indycan Khan. And
• 1:58
Speaker 1: that is significant. But this shit right here? Just more theater.
• 2:04
Speaker 1: And you know what the truth is? We're being governed
• 2:07
Speaker 1: by a whole lot of theater kids. And how do
• 2:10
Speaker 1: I know that? Well, when I was in high school,
• 2:13
Speaker 1: I was in technical theater. And I spent a lot
• 2:16
Speaker 1: of time with theater kids. And that time that I
• 2:20
Speaker 1: spent inside of those theaters pales in comparison when it
• 2:24
Speaker 1: comes to the acting job you see with these kinds
• 2:27
Speaker 1: of politicians. Former Representative Andrea Reeb resigned from her job
• 2:33
Speaker 1: as a state lawmaker and from the bipartisan subcommittee known
• 2:37
Speaker 1: as the Truth Commission earlier in October after a judge
• 2:40
Speaker 1: ruled that her role as a lawmaker conflicted with her
• 2:43
Speaker 1: work as a special prosecutor in the involuntary manslaughter case
• 2:47
Speaker 1: against Alec Baldwin. And boy, was that a shitshow as well.
• 2:51
Speaker 1: We covered that a bit here. Not shocked that Alec
• 2:55
Speaker 1: Baldwin ended up skating, right? When you have that kind
• 2:58
Speaker 1: of money, those kinds of lawyers, that's usually the result.
• 3:02
Speaker 1: But that armorer, she got screwed. Now, don't get it twisted,
• 3:06
Speaker 1: she should have done some time. But I think that
• 3:08
Speaker 1: Alec Baldwin, as the guy that was in charge of
• 3:11
Speaker 1: the whole entire operation, should have been held accountable as well.
• 3:16
Speaker 1: The legislature established the committee in this year's lawmaking session
• 3:19
Speaker 1: and charged it with producing two investigative reports, one over
• 3:23
Speaker 1: the summer and one by the end of the year.
• 3:26
Speaker 1: So we took a look at the first one that
• 3:27
Speaker 1: they produced and they didn't really give us much that
• 3:30
Speaker 1: we didn't know. Kind of like a recap almost. But
• 3:34
Speaker 1: ever since they announced this, I always figured that it
• 3:37
Speaker 1: would end up devolving into some kind of nonsensical BS.
• 3:40
Speaker 1: And here we are. Because that's how it always ends up.
• 3:44
Speaker 1: Over the last seven years, this is how it always
• 3:46
Speaker 1: ends up. People start pointing fingers at each other. People
• 3:50
Speaker 1: start shooting all these allegations every which way but loose.
• 3:55
Speaker 1: And before you know it, Nobody's even investigating what Epstein
• 3:58
Speaker 1: was up to. And instead, they just use the situation
• 4:01
Speaker 1: to gain political ground. Try to use it as a
• 4:04
Speaker 1: cudgel against their opponents. And I think that most people
• 4:08
Speaker 1: are sick of that shit. Now, don't get me wrong.
• 4:11
Speaker 1: If you're somebody that was involved with Epstein, then you
• 4:13
Speaker 1: should be called out. But a lot of this banter
• 4:17
Speaker 1: that you hear, especially from this commission, is just straight
• 4:20
Speaker 1: up BS. In a statement Friday, Camille Ward, a spokesperson
• 4:27
Speaker 1: for Martinez, noted the end of the year deadline and
• 4:29
Speaker 1: said its remaining work does not require any changes to
• 4:32
Speaker 1: its existing membership. In other words, we don't give a
• 4:35
Speaker 1: shit about what's going on. And we just want it
• 4:38
Speaker 1: to run to its completion. That way we can say
• 4:41
Speaker 1: we did it. We can put that feather in our cap.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: But what did they accomplish? What did this commission actually do?
• 4:50
Speaker 1: I mean, they threw a fit. They stomped their feet.
• 4:54
Speaker 1: They yelled and screamed, but did anybody get held accountable?
• 4:59
Speaker 1: Has anybody dove into the books of the most powerful
• 5:02
Speaker 1: people in New Mexico? What about the King family? None
• 5:06
Speaker 1: of that happened, and none of it's going to happen.
• 5:10
Speaker 1: As the commission works with legal counsel to conclude the
• 5:12
Speaker 1: investigation and finalize the report, there are no remaining votes
• 5:16
Speaker 1: to be taken, and therefore there's no need for further
• 5:19
Speaker 1: changes to the commission's membership in these final weeks, she said.
• 5:24
Speaker 1: We fully expect the commission to fulfill their promise to
• 5:27
Speaker 1: the people of New Mexico and survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's
• 5:30
Speaker 1: horrific abuse by delivering a final report to the public
• 5:33
Speaker 1: in December that meaningfully addresses the unanswered questions about what
• 5:37
Speaker 1: happened at Zorro Ranch. Yeah? Well, my advice is, don't
• 5:41
Speaker 1: hold your breath. Because I'm guessing that we're going to
• 5:44
Speaker 1: get a sanitized copy of what Epstein was up to
• 5:47
Speaker 1: in New Mexico. Because that's how it works. And the
• 5:52
Speaker 1: only way we're ever going to get any truth... is
• 5:54
Speaker 1: if we, us, the citizens, the taxpayers, pry that shit free.
• 6:01
Speaker 1: As the deadline for the commission's final investigative report approaches,
• 6:05
Speaker 1: it's left with just three members. Representatives Andrea Romero, Santa Fe, Democrat,
• 6:11
Speaker 1: Mariana Anaya, Democrat Albuquerque, and William Bill Hall, Republican from Aztec.
• 6:18
Speaker 1: And remember right from the very beginning, there was all
• 6:21
Speaker 1: kinds of problems in New Mexico with this commission, You
• 6:24
Speaker 1: have the Republicans blaming the Democrats, the Democrats blaming the Republicans,
• 6:29
Speaker 1: and Jeffrey Epstein's best friends, by the way, laughing the
• 6:32
Speaker 1: whole entire time as they headed to the bank. But
• 6:37
Speaker 1: that's the best defense they have. The fact that we
• 6:39
Speaker 1: can't get out of our own way and stop fighting
• 6:41
Speaker 1: with each other. And they know that. And that's why
• 6:45
Speaker 1: you see this demoralization campaign underway when it comes to America.
• 6:51
Speaker 1: They understand that if we were all cooperating... and not
• 6:53
Speaker 1: focusing on the bullshit, these artificially generated issues that they
• 6:57
Speaker 1: put in front of us, that they'd be fucked. They
• 7:00
Speaker 1: would be absolutely fucked. And we'd be storming the castle together,
• 7:06
Speaker 1: pitchforks and torches. But instead, we just let these fucking
• 7:10
Speaker 1: people walk all over us. And for what? To protect
• 7:13
Speaker 1: some quote-unquote big shot in your political party? How fucking
• 7:17
Speaker 1: dumb is that? I can't even imagine caring so much
• 7:20
Speaker 1: about people that don't give a shit about you. The
• 7:23
Speaker 1: only time these people care about you is when they
• 7:25
Speaker 1: want your vote. That's it. So keep that shit in
• 7:28
Speaker 1: mind before you get mad at your friend next time
• 7:31
Speaker 1: over some bullshit politics. When commissioners unveiled their first report
• 7:37
Speaker 1: in August, they acknowledged that it did little to tread
• 7:39
Speaker 1: new ground regarding Epstein and his crimes, but said that
• 7:42
Speaker 1: it condensed what's known about his time in the state
• 7:45
Speaker 1: into a single document. Oh, well, isn't that great? I
• 7:48
Speaker 1: wonder how much grift is going on here. How much
• 7:51
Speaker 1: of this money has been spent on other shit Besides Epstein.
• 7:54
Speaker 1: Probably a whole bunch. Now, look, I'm not going to
• 7:57
Speaker 1: sit here and tell you that all these people are corrupt.
• 7:59
Speaker 1: I don't know them. But if you had to go
• 8:02
Speaker 1: into it blind and somebody told you, all right, we
• 8:05
Speaker 1: have politicians in insert state here. Do you think they're corrupt?
• 8:10
Speaker 1: I would say that at least 50% of the people
• 8:13
Speaker 1: would automatically believe that they're corrupt in one way or
• 8:15
Speaker 1: the other. Because the truth is they are. And now
• 8:19
Speaker 1: that doesn't mean that all of them are just, you know,
• 8:22
Speaker 1: absolutely corrupt. But to get to the point in power
• 8:25
Speaker 1: that they're at, they have to cut some corners. Very
• 8:28
Speaker 1: rarely is the pathway straight when it comes to getting power.
• 8:32
Speaker 1: Infighting quickly characterized the commission as its Republican members accused
• 8:36
Speaker 1: Romero and Anaya of omitting references to Deb Haaland, the
• 8:40
Speaker 1: former U.S. Interior Secretary and current Democratic nominee for New
• 8:45
Speaker 1: Mexico governor. Ahead of the June primary election, campaign ads
• 8:49
Speaker 1: accused Haaland of flying on an Epstein-owned jet in 2014
• 8:54
Speaker 1: when she was running on former State Attorney General Gary
• 8:57
Speaker 1: King's gubernatorial ticket as a candidate for Lieutenant Governor. However,
• 9:02
Speaker 1: publicly available documents show that the plane did not belong
• 9:05
Speaker 1: to Epstein and that King had requested Epstein's help in
• 9:09
Speaker 1: chartering a flight. Alright, listen, she should explain that, right?
• 9:13
Speaker 1: And according to her, she has. She had no idea
• 9:17
Speaker 1: that she was getting on that plane or who had
• 9:19
Speaker 1: rented it. And look, that's a legitimate... Excuse, right? I'm
• 9:23
Speaker 1: not going to sit here and tell you that this
• 9:25
Speaker 1: lady was somebody that was deeply involved with Epstein because
• 9:28
Speaker 1: she flew on a plane once. Instead, I'd flip the
• 9:30
Speaker 1: question and I'd ask what Governor King knew. That's what
• 9:34
Speaker 1: I'd be asking. He's the one who rented the plane.
• 9:36
Speaker 1: He's the one who, you know, the family sold the
• 9:38
Speaker 1: ranch to Epstein. Start asking questions there. Republican leaders subsequently
• 9:45
Speaker 1: called on Romero, the commission's chair, to resign. alleging that
• 9:49
Speaker 1: she inappropriately worked for the local district attorney's office while
• 9:52
Speaker 1: serving as a state lawmaker. Romero resigned from her job
• 9:56
Speaker 1: with the first judicial district attorney's office, but continues to
• 10:00
Speaker 1: serve as a commission chair. Reeb's resignation sparked a volley
• 10:04
Speaker 1: of criticism between Democratic and Republican statehouse leaders, with New
• 10:08
Speaker 1: Mexico House Democrats saying Reeb and House Republicans should apologize
• 10:12
Speaker 1: to Romero, noting Reeb did not acknowledge her own potential
• 10:16
Speaker 1: conflict of interest when Romero resigned. It's a big shitshow, unfortunately.
• 10:21
  Speaker 1: I wish I could tell you different. I wish I
• 10:23
Speaker 1: could say to you, yeah, this is a great job.
• 10:25
Speaker 1: They're really handling business down in New Mexico, but they're
• 10:28
Speaker 1: most certainly not. And frankly, this performative bullshit hurts more
• 10:32
Speaker 1: than it helps. In response, House Republican leader Gail Armstrong
• 10:39
Speaker 1: issued a lengthy statement in which she rejected Martinez's call
• 10:42
Speaker 1: for an apology and said she should issue an apology
• 10:44
Speaker 1: to every New Mexican and to the victims this commission
• 10:47
Speaker 1: was supposed to serve. That goes for all of you,
• 10:50
Speaker 1: Gail Armstrong. Hell is wrong with these people. Armstrong, in
• 10:55
Speaker 1: a Friday statement regarding Martinez's decision to not replace Reeb,
• 10:59
Speaker 1: said she is deeply disappointed in how this commission has
• 11:02
Speaker 1: been handled, and called on him to appoint a replacement.
• 11:05
Speaker 1: Chair Romero's conduct has compromised the process, and rather than
• 11:09
Speaker 1: correct it, Speaker Martinez is now declining to follow the
• 11:12
Speaker 1: very resolution the House passed unanimously, she said, adding that
• 11:16
Speaker 1: the resolution... That authorized the commission specifies that it's supposed
• 11:20
Speaker 1: to be a four-member body. With one seat left vacant,
• 11:24
Speaker 1: the commission is no longer balanced. How can New Mexicans
• 11:28
Speaker 1: trust the final report to reflect the truth rather than
• 11:31
Speaker 1: the interests of the people writing it? And that's the
• 11:33
Speaker 1: biggest problem. It's because all of you are bought and
• 11:36
Speaker 1: paid for. All of you are political operatives. And all
• 11:39
Speaker 1: of you are scumbags. Party before people, huh? Hell of
• 11:44
Speaker 1: a way to run a country. Sure, that's going to
• 11:46
Speaker 1: work out well for us in the end. Armstrong said
• 11:50
Speaker 1: balance among commission members is particularly important, as Epstein operated
• 11:54
Speaker 1: here for decades among the state's political elite. Well, that's
• 11:58
Speaker 1: a fact. But unfortunately, these yahoos can't get out of
• 12:01
Speaker 1: their own way. So, this is exactly what I thought
• 12:06
Speaker 1: it would devolve into, and here we are. So, we'll
• 12:10
Speaker 1: see what their final report says, but as of now,
• 12:12
Speaker 1: not exactly impressed. All the information that goes with this
• 12:17
Speaker 1: episode can be found in the description box.
