- 0:41SPEAKER_04: I don't know where you get your shirts, man, but they are some of the most awesome shirts.
- 0:46SPEAKER_10: Us veterans have a very dark sense of humor.
- 0:48SPEAKER_10: So it's not hard to find a shirt that fits your sense of humor.
- 0:52SPEAKER_04: But every time you come in here, you've got a just an amazing shirt.
- 0:57SPEAKER_04: And I want it.
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: Anyway.
- 0:59SPEAKER_04: Um, so yeah.
- 1:01SPEAKER_10: There's another there's another version of this shirt that says it's not water waterboring if you use diesel.
- 1:13SPEAKER_08: But I like this one better because it's funnier.
- 1:15SPEAKER_08: That's what I'm talking about.
- 1:16SPEAKER_08: Uh this is episode 202.
- 1:19SPEAKER_08: 202.
- 1:20SPEAKER_08: 202 episodes.
- 1:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:22SPEAKER_04: Man.
- 1:23SPEAKER_04: I'm proud of us.
- 1:24SPEAKER_04: I am too.
- 1:25SPEAKER_04: Hey, um, incidentally, we uh remember well, remember last week we couldn't find I don't remember anything.
- 1:33SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm gonna tell you.
- 1:34SPEAKER_10: What's your name again?
- 1:36SPEAKER_04: We couldn't find the pines.
- 1:38SPEAKER_10: Andre.
- 1:40SPEAKER_10: I want to say Phil.
- 1:45SPEAKER_04: That's it's Brian.
- 1:47SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 1:49SPEAKER_04: Uh we couldn't find the pines on Facebook.
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:52SPEAKER_04: Uh well they found us.
- 1:53SPEAKER_10: Oh, well, that's nice.
- 1:54SPEAKER_04: So that was that was pretty cool.
- 1:55SPEAKER_04: So because we had uh our friend Bouncing Bob Blanchard uh had sent us, you know, I now did Bob like refer us to them.
- 2:04SPEAKER_04: He must have.
- 2:05SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 2:05SPEAKER_04: Um because I can't imagine they would have known.
- 2:08SPEAKER_04: They just randomly like, hey, yeah, they must be talking about us.
- 2:11SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 2:12SPEAKER_04: Unless because I I don't know if I hashtagged the pines or not.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: I don't think I did.
- 2:16SPEAKER_04: I can't remember.
- 2:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:17SPEAKER_04: But it was our first kind of reaction.
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: Bob wanted us to to listen to uh uh their music.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: We actually watched the videos, yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: A couple of videos that they had put out, and uh and um they they followed us, and so in turn we followed them and got a lot of downloads, so they must have shared the episode.
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: I'm assuming they've shared the episode.
- 2:36SPEAKER_11: So they're probably like, wow, these guys are so bad.
- 2:41SPEAKER_10: Listen to these cuts.
- 2:43SPEAKER_10: And these guys are really stupid, but they're talking about us, so we'll allow it.
- 2:48SPEAKER_10: Um we like their music, actually.
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: I do, I think I'm a bit I'm a fan of the funny thing is is my my wife who works upstairs uh pressing t-shirts and stuff, um, she listens to the podcast, you know, the day after that that it comes out.
- 3:03SPEAKER_04: Um and she was listening to that and and she she had a couple of odd um well comparisons for the music.
- 3:13SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: Uh because we said Led Zeppelin, we said I said uh early Fleetwood Mac, you know, OL.
- 3:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:19SPEAKER_04: Um I can't remember what she said, but I was like, Really?
- 3:24SPEAKER_04: I don't hear that at all.
- 3:26SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's on the tip of my tongue now.
- 3:29SPEAKER_04: What did she say?
- 3:30SPEAKER_04: Oh she said, uh, the guy sounds like Big Head Todd.
- 3:34SPEAKER_04: No.
- 3:35SPEAKER_04: I and I was like, I don't hear that at all.
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: No.
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: Uh uh.
- 3:41SPEAKER_04: She liked his voice.
- 3:42SPEAKER_04: She liked the lead singer.
- 3:43SPEAKER_04: No, he's he's got a good voice.
- 3:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:45SPEAKER_04: So uh, but it was just, you know.
- 3:50SPEAKER_10: So Hey Trace, you see that?
- 3:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I know he's stupid.
- 3:56SPEAKER_08: I forgot that you guys had your own podcast.
- 3:58SPEAKER_08: We have our own podcast.
- 3:59SPEAKER_08: Invisible podcast.
- 4:00SPEAKER_10: The invisible podcast.
- 4:02SPEAKER_04: Um so speaking of my wife, our anniversary was last Friday.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: Yes, happy anniversary.
- 4:09SPEAKER_04: And but the syndicate was playing, it was very nice and quite a surprise, actually.
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: Um I don't usually get surprised, but you guys sang happy anniversary to us uh while Well, we co-opted happy birthday.
- 4:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, true.
- 4:23SPEAKER_10: So now we owe them like what, a hundred thousand dollars or something?
- 4:26SPEAKER_04: I think that's public domain.
- 4:27SPEAKER_04: I think you're good.
- 4:28SPEAKER_10: Oh, is it a public domain now?
- 4:29SPEAKER_04: Happy birthday, yes, yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_04: Okay, pretty sure.
- 4:32SPEAKER_04: Um but yeah, so but we so we couldn't celebrate.
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: Uh luckily a I don't know if I should say this or not.
- 4:39SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna uh rate an old radio friend of mine uh who still gets um free tickets to give away.
- 4:47SPEAKER_04: Oh, sure.
- 4:48SPEAKER_04: Uh knew that it was our anniversary and gave us some tickets to see James Taylor.
- 4:54SPEAKER_07: Oh yes.
- 4:55SPEAKER_04: Who we saw last year for our anniversary and we saw on our honeymoon.
- 5:01SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 5:01SPEAKER_04: So we've seen James Taylor three times now.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: Um the concert that we saw over the weekend was almost identical to the one we saw last year.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 5:12SPEAKER_04: It was it was I mean he he sounded better, obviously, because he last year he had a say he was sick last year.
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he had a cold.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: Um but essentially uh and and this year he did play, I'm gonna guess, three or four songs that he didn't play last year.
- 5:28SPEAKER_04: So the rest because you have to play the hits, you have to play the songs there.
- 5:31SPEAKER_04: Of course you don't.
- 5:32SPEAKER_04: Um he's 70 something years old.
- 5:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:35SPEAKER_04: And when he's playing, you know, James Taylor's guitar playing is legendary, right?
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: His finger picking style.
- 5:41SPEAKER_04: Um when I'm watching him on the big screen and he's and he's you know doing all the finger picking and everything, his hands are shaking like this as he's doing it.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: You know, because you know, I'm sure age catches up with you.
- 5:57SPEAKER_10: Oh, I'm sure.
- 5:58SPEAKER_04: And he sings in a way, and my wife and I were talking about this.
- 6:02SPEAKER_04: I don't know if it's just for effect, but when he sings now, it seems like he's in pain.
- 6:09SPEAKER_04: Because he makes he makes all these faces like this.
- 6:13SPEAKER_04: Oh tighten scrunches up his face when he when he sings.
- 6:17SPEAKER_04: And he did make a joke about uh keeping his dantures in.
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: So I don't know if they're uh that's actually true or not.
- 6:24SPEAKER_04: He did tell a good joke, I want to tell you.
- 6:26SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 6:26SPEAKER_04: Uh he because uh um Lou um Marino, who's in the Blues Brothers band, play play saxophone for James Taylor.
- 6:36SPEAKER_04: Um and I did take I did take some video of Steve Gadd, the the drum solo for Country Road and stuff.
- 6:42SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: I'll show you, show it to you later.
- 6:45SPEAKER_04: Um but apparently Lou, Blue Lou, likes dad jokes.
- 6:50SPEAKER_04: And he told James Taylor a couple of them.
- 6:52SPEAKER_04: And one of them I I thought was kind of funny.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: Um he said that the legendary Bill Withers was doing a concert.
- 7:02SPEAKER_09: Oh, I I have read this one.
- 7:04SPEAKER_09: Have you?
- 7:04SPEAKER_09: I think so.
- 7:06SPEAKER_04: And he got to the song Ain't No Sunshine.
- 7:09SPEAKER_04: And so he sang, you know, and after the concert, uh just really loyal fan came up to him and and he said, Bill, amazing show, uh, really great, but ain't no sunshine?
- 7:23SPEAKER_04: That's that's not proper grammar.
- 7:26SPEAKER_04: And Bill said, Oh, I know.
- 7:27SPEAKER_04: I know, I know, I know.
- 7:30SPEAKER_10: I knew I I I'd I'd heard reddit that somewhere.
- 7:33SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: I hadn't heard that one.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: I thought that was really funny.
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: Uh so I wanted to sh and I shared um uh a video uh with our one of our threads on Facebook with the syndicate because it's kind of what he does.
- 7:50SPEAKER_04: This is the end.
- 7:54SPEAKER_04: We do this song.
- 7:55SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah.
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: I don't know how legal this is.
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: How sweet it is to be loved by you.
- 9:59SPEAKER_02: And I stopped recording right here.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: So that's all I got.
- 10:12SPEAKER_19: Did it go on for like another 15 minutes?
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: No.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: No, but they they started doing this doom do do do do do do do do and they kept going with the end of the song.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was it was pretty pretty cool.
- 10:24SPEAKER_10: Um you know what's funny?
- 10:27SPEAKER_10: Looking at James Taylor, yeah, his forearms are huge.
- 10:32SPEAKER_04: Yes, they are, and it's like a huge vein and stuff, yeah.
- 10:35SPEAKER_10: And then like from his elbow up, it's like really skinny.
- 10:38SPEAKER_10: So you can tell he's a guitar player.
- 10:40SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: You know, just like one thing I wanted to point out, uh this guy right here, this is Mike Landau, who's a legendary guitar player, session player and and and blues guy, really.
- 10:53SPEAKER_04: Look at his amp.
- 10:54SPEAKER_04: He's got a Dr.
- 10:55SPEAKER_04: Z amp.
- 10:56SPEAKER_04: I'm not sure what the head is up there.
- 10:58SPEAKER_04: It might be a Dr.
- 10:58SPEAKER_04: Z, but it's facing him.
- 11:03SPEAKER_04: It's facing it's facing the band.
- 11:06SPEAKER_04: So I I don't know what kind of difference that would make.
- 11:11SPEAKER_04: Uh I know we get some complaints from the trumpet section if I did that.
- 11:15SPEAKER_11: Oh yeah.
- 11:16SPEAKER_04: Um, but obviously he can hear it better if it's facing him, and it's mic'd, so it's going out the front.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 11:23SPEAKER_04: So I I don't know.
- 11:24SPEAKER_04: I I'd like to try that on a in a future future show.
- 11:29SPEAKER_04: Um and the other thing, this guy, man, this guitar player, you'd you'd have to you it kind of had to be there, but when when James Taylor plays, especially his like 80s and 90s uh output, uh those albums, there's a lot of like there's a this guy can make a pedal steel sound with his guitar, his whammy bar.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: And it sounds like like he obviously has a volume pedal, you know, so like he'll he'll hit something and then turn the volume up, but he does it so perfectly that it sounds like a pedal steel guitar.
- 12:10SPEAKER_04: It's amazing, and it's hard to tell the difference.
- 12:13SPEAKER_04: It's it's fantastic.
- 12:15SPEAKER_10: But anyway.
- 12:16SPEAKER_10: Maybe there's a pedal now that makes the makes it sound like that.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: I don't think so.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: I cause you know, and well you don't know.
- 12:22SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 12:23SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 12:24SPEAKER_04: You don't know.
- 12:25SPEAKER_04: Um but and and the cool the neat thing about it is most of the time they're all sitting down.
- 12:30SPEAKER_04: They've all got stools.
- 12:31SPEAKER_04: So he's Mike Landau's sitting over there in the corner.
- 12:34SPEAKER_10: Just kind of you know well they are in their 70s, man.
- 12:37SPEAKER_10: I could I totally get it, man.
- 12:38SPEAKER_10: You know, I'd be sitting down too.
- 12:39SPEAKER_10: For sure.
- 12:40SPEAKER_10: Well, I remember when we saw BB King, he sat down.
- 12:42SPEAKER_10: Mm-hmm.
- 12:43SPEAKER_10: I mean, a matter of fact, they they wheelchaired him up to the stage.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, that's because yeah, you know, yeah.
- 12:49SPEAKER_10: He and then, you know, you know, up to the backstage, and then he walked on to say, and then he sat down immediately.
- 12:54SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 12:55SPEAKER_10: So I mean, you know, I get it, man.
- 12:56SPEAKER_10: And he was in his 80s at that point.
- 12:58SPEAKER_10: So I totally get it, man.
- 13:02SPEAKER_10: When I when in another few years, I'm gonna start doing that when we perform.
- 13:06SPEAKER_04: Just sit down.
- 13:08SPEAKER_04: That wouldn't be a syndicate performance if you sat down.
- 13:11SPEAKER_10: Well, I I I'm just gonna be like, you know, I'm old.
- 13:15SPEAKER_10: I can't I can't do it anymore.
- 13:16SPEAKER_10: I'm just I'm just gonna I'm gonna rock from the waist up, but the rest of me is gonna be sitting my butt down.
- 13:22SPEAKER_04: You know what?
- 13:23SPEAKER_04: People would come still, I'm sure.
- 13:24SPEAKER_10: I doubt it.
- 13:25SPEAKER_10: They'd be like, they lost it.
- 13:28SPEAKER_04: Done.
- 13:28SPEAKER_04: D-U-N.
- 13:29SPEAKER_04: I don't think so.
- 13:30SPEAKER_04: Done.
- 13:30SPEAKER_04: I I think you were the you're most of the reason people come to see us, to be honest.
- 13:34SPEAKER_10: I don't think that's true at all.
- 13:35SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 13:36SPEAKER_08: My big to differ.
- 13:37SPEAKER_08: I don't think that's true.
- 13:38SPEAKER_04: Uh so that was cool.
- 13:38SPEAKER_04: So you're full of poop.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: The James Taylor concert, and and it said it started at 7 30, he started at 7 45.
- 13:45SPEAKER_04: Liar said it went from 7 30 to 9.
- 13:48SPEAKER_04: We got out of there at after 10.
- 13:50SPEAKER_04: Well, well, like the curfew, I think, is at 10.
- 13:52SPEAKER_04: He played over the curfew.
- 13:54unknown: Uh oh.
- 13:55SPEAKER_10: You probably had to pay the city of Bangor like a million dollars for that.
- 13:58SPEAKER_04: And we didn't stay the night.
- 13:59SPEAKER_04: We actually my wife drove back with, you know.
- 14:03SPEAKER_04: We went down the it was a massive thunderstorm.
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: Uh there was a Sunday?
- 14:08SPEAKER_04: This was Sunday.
- 14:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_04: It rained like the whole way down almost.
- 14:12SPEAKER_10: Well, there were tornadoes down in uh below Holton.
- 14:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and it was torrential too.
- 14:16SPEAKER_04: I mean, there would be like clear spots where the there was blue sky, and then five minutes later it's just yeah.
- 14:23SPEAKER_04: Anyway, it was clear.
- 14:25SPEAKER_04: It was good.
- 14:26SPEAKER_04: We had a we had a good time.
- 14:27SPEAKER_04: It was nice to to get to have some alone time with the with the missus.
- 14:31SPEAKER_04: With the wife.
- 14:33SPEAKER_04: So we have another show, uh uh first for us coming up.
- 14:37SPEAKER_04: Let's see, this is gonna drop on Thursday.
- 14:39SPEAKER_04: We'll have already played it.
- 14:40SPEAKER_04: It's it's it's already gonna be done.
- 14:41SPEAKER_04: On Wednesday, we're playing Holton.
- 14:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:44SPEAKER_04: Which uh we've never played before.
- 14:45SPEAKER_04: So I'm excited about that.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: And I actually made the set list and uh I picked a bunch of songs that we're very comfortable with because they've never heard of it.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: We want to make a good impression.
- 15:00SPEAKER_10: We don't want to do the ones we do, and you know, just be like, wow, these guys really suck.
- 15:04SPEAKER_10: Why is everybody making such a big deal?
- 15:06SPEAKER_10: What's with that dude sitting down playing the game?
- 15:10SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 15:12SPEAKER_10: Um They're gonna.
- 15:14SPEAKER_10: But I'm not I'm not even gonna be there for the first hour.
- 15:16SPEAKER_10: I know, that's I had to.
- 15:19SPEAKER_10: I'm just gonna come in and just gonna When I get there, can I just like stand out like first and then and then just like randomly jump on stage?
- 15:27SPEAKER_11: Yes, please do.
- 15:27SPEAKER_10: Yeah, okay.
- 15:29SPEAKER_11: I'm gonna be singing with your brand, you bunch of dodo heads.
- 15:34SPEAKER_04: We're gonna we're gonna we'll have the congos there.
- 15:36SPEAKER_04: I'll be playing the congos while you're gone.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 15:39SPEAKER_04: And the guitar at the same time.
- 15:40SPEAKER_04: That's gonna be impressive.
- 15:42SPEAKER_04: Kong guitar.
- 15:43SPEAKER_04: Although, I don't know if you s I don't know if you saw on that video from the James Taylor concert.
- 15:47SPEAKER_04: They only had, as far as horns, they only had two horns.
- 15:50SPEAKER_04: They had Lou playing saxophone and and occasionally a flute.
- 15:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: But then they had a guy next to him, you saw him, you saw it, thought he was Richie Cunningham.
- 15:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: He's playing the keyboard and I'm still not convinced it wasn't.
- 16:02SPEAKER_04: And he had a flu flugelhorn.
- 16:04SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 16:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:04SPEAKER_04: That's interesting.
- 16:05SPEAKER_04: So he'd be sitting down playing the keyboard and playing the flugelhorn.
- 16:08SPEAKER_10: Can Kevin play keyboard and flugelhorn?
- 16:10SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 16:10SPEAKER_10: Well, maybe we should ask him tomorrow.
- 16:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:14SPEAKER_10: Hey Kev.
- 16:14SPEAKER_04: I'll tell him all about it.
- 16:15SPEAKER_04: I said, there's this guy that was playing piano and and flugelhorn.
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: Can you do that?
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: And he'd be like, nah, I can't.
- 16:21SPEAKER_04: Then we'd be like, you're out of the band.
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: But it was it was a good time.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: It was a good time.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: Good.
- 16:27SPEAKER_04: Um, so speaking of James Taylor.
- 16:30SPEAKER_04: Speaking of good times.
- 16:31SPEAKER_04: Speaking of James Taylor, one of the things that he uh talked about, because I took I posted a picture of my wife uh with with the uh with the stage in the background, and there's a picture of James Taylor, um the basically the inner sleeve, I think, of his debut album, which he was the very first artist signed to be uh Apple Apple Records.
- 16:57SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 16:57SPEAKER_04: The Beatles um record label that they started.
- 17:01SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 17:01SPEAKER_04: Uh and he started with uh something in the way she moves.
- 17:05SPEAKER_04: And he did make a joke.
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: He said he said, I played that song, uh kind of auditioned that song for uh and the way he tells stories is there's a lot of you know pausing and uh kind of like when John Hyatt told a story.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: So I you know I I played that in a little room with um uh very low lighting uh for a um a gentleman named um Paul McCartney.
- 17:32SPEAKER_04: Of course I probably and uh and and and and and George Harrison.
- 17:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and they re and they really liked it.
- 17:39SPEAKER_04: And they s they signed me to to to Apple Records, which was you know, the their record label that they that they started, and um uh uh George liked it so much that uh he claimed that he wrote he wrote it.
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: Because the famous story is uh the something in the way she moves looks my way, and then George Harrison writes something.
- 18:03SPEAKER_04: Something in the way she moves.
- 18:06SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 18:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_04: So he lifted that line, admittedly, and and James Taylor was like, you know, but I've stolen so many things from the Beatles.
- 18:14SPEAKER_10: Who hasn't?
- 18:14SPEAKER_04: Right, exactly.
- 18:15SPEAKER_07: I mean, come on.
- 18:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so uh but he he did tell us so I thought uh we would go back in history on this day in history.
- 18:22SPEAKER_04: I only I I picked a few things because there's a lot of things uh that we could talk about, but uh there's a lot of years in history.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 18:33SPEAKER_10: Shut up, video Doug! Like you could do any better.
- 18:37SPEAKER_04: Oh speak jerks.
- 18:39SPEAKER_04: Speaking of the videos, this is this is of kind of funny.
- 18:41SPEAKER_04: My daughter, who does uh edits podcasts and edits video, uh records and edits video for a living.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: That's what she does.
- 18:52SPEAKER_04: So uh last week, last last week's episode we went back to the video promos and I and I blasted the promo out on on Instagram and on Facebook and blah blah blah.
- 19:05SPEAKER_10: Yeah, she shared it on Instagram.
- 19:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, and and my stories and things like that.
- 19:10SPEAKER_04: And she goes, I gotta I gotta read it to you because it's the it's the way that she put it.
- 19:17SPEAKER_04: Um something in the way she put it?
- 19:19SPEAKER_04: Something something in the way she put it, yeah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_04: Uh where is it here?
- 19:23SPEAKER_04: Hold on.
- 19:24SPEAKER_04: And I wanted to tell you about my idea too.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: Actually, you probably saw me post it.
- 19:28SPEAKER_10: Is it the songwriter thing?
- 19:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I guess I'll get to that in a second.
- 19:32SPEAKER_04: Uh let's see.
- 19:33SPEAKER_10: I saw that.
- 19:34SPEAKER_04: I thought it.
- 19:36SPEAKER_04: There it is.
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 19:47SPEAKER_04: Oh wait.
- 19:50SPEAKER_04: No, this is why did she send it to me?
- 19:53SPEAKER_04: Why did she send it to me in the family thread?
- 19:56SPEAKER_04: The only reason is because she's she kind of um in a very diplomatic way.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: Told you you soccer.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: No, no, no.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: Well she said, Hey, do you um do you need any help uh with the videos?
- 20:13SPEAKER_10: I t I said that she should be doing it.
- 20:16SPEAKER_04: Well, here's here's uh hold hold on, I'm trying to f I'm trying to find it here.
- 20:21SPEAKER_04: Because I don't want to tell you things that she didn't uh she didn't say.
- 20:27SPEAKER_04: Uh and I'm not sure if it was in here.
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: Maybe it was on Instagram.
- 20:30SPEAKER_04: It wasn't on Instagram.
- 20:31SPEAKER_04: It was not?
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: No.
- 20:33SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 20:33SPEAKER_04: No, I'm not gonna be able to find it.
- 20:35SPEAKER_04: Um But she basically said, you know, I've got some time this summer if you need someone to run your social media, you know, because and I was like, and I said, I'm like you, uh Olivia.
- 20:48SPEAKER_04: I was like, I'm kind of I kind of know how I want it to look.
- 20:52SPEAKER_04: And you know, so I might as well just do it myself.
- 20:55SPEAKER_04: Because I would have to I would have to save the file somewhere and s and give her access to it and tell her what I want, right, and blah blah blah.
- 21:04SPEAKER_04: It could be done, it would just be a lot more of a hassle, sure, you know, on both of our parts.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 21:11SPEAKER_04: And I and then I I think I saw it on Instagram and which I didn't know that there's a certain way you have to format things.
- 21:22SPEAKER_04: So I watched it on Instagram and all of the wording is like cut off on either side.
- 21:31SPEAKER_04: So you can't read what it says, you know.
- 21:33SPEAKER_10: Not that that matters.
- 21:34SPEAKER_04: I mean I mean, the the con the video content is still there.
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: But you know, because I was promoting the episode and and where to where to find us and all that stuff, and you really couldn't read any of that.
- 21:46SPEAKER_04: So there's a there's a format that this has to be, and she so kindly said, you know, I can do that for you if you if you need me to.
- 21:53SPEAKER_04: And I said, Well, let's revisit it in a little while.
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: And maybe maybe I said, When I go back into school.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: When I get back to teaching, I'd like to keep the videos going, but I might not have time to edit them.
- 22:06SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 22:07SPEAKER_04: So maybe I could maybe we could do it then.
- 22:10SPEAKER_04: So but I thought that was funny.
- 22:12SPEAKER_04: Um so this day in history, um, in music history, we were talking about the Beatles.
- 22:21SPEAKER_04: So in 1969, working on tracks for the Abbey Road album, Paul McCartney recorded Her Majesty.
- 22:28SPEAKER_04: Then Paul George and Ringo recorded 15 takes of Golden Slumber's Carrie That Wait.
- 22:34SPEAKER_04: Did you know John was not there?
- 22:36SPEAKER_10: I think I read that.
- 22:36SPEAKER_04: I think he was uh he was in a hospital in Goldsby, Scotland, following a car accident the previous day.
- 22:45SPEAKER_04: Which I don't remember that.
- 22:47SPEAKER_04: I mean, I've read a lot of Beatles' history, not as much as you.
- 22:50SPEAKER_04: Something tells me that heroin was involved in that accident.
- 22:54SPEAKER_04: And that's why it wasn't uh widely publicized.
- 22:57SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 22:58SPEAKER_04: Uh going back to 1956, on this day, Elvis Presley recorded Hound Dog at RCA Studios New York.
- 23:06SPEAKER_04: Take 31 being the version they released.
- 23:10SPEAKER_10: 31 takes.
- 23:11SPEAKER_10: 31 takes.
- 23:12SPEAKER_04: This was the first time the Jordan Ayers worked with Presley.
- 23:15SPEAKER_04: The single sold over 10 million copies globally, became his best-selling song atop the pop chart for 11 weeks, a record that stood for 36 years.
- 23:25SPEAKER_04: Uh in 1962, Jimi Hendrix was honorably discharged from the 101st Airborne Paratroopers after breaking his ankle during his 26th and final parachute jump.
- 23:36SPEAKER_10: Yeah, a lot of people don't know that Jimi Hendrix was a screaming eagle.
- 23:39SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 23:39SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 23:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:40SPEAKER_04: Um and I forgot just how great, you know, everybody talks about Michael Jackson's Thriller.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:48SPEAKER_04: To this day.
- 23:48SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's still one of the best albums.
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: Um but you know that album Bad, which was the follow-up to Thriller?
- 23:55SPEAKER_10: I was about to say, yeah, wasn't that the one right after that?
- 23:57SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 23:59SPEAKER_04: It had a lot of good songs on it.
- 24:00SPEAKER_04: It did.
- 24:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:02SPEAKER_04: Um in 1988, Michael Jackson became the first artist to have five number one singles from one album.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: Is that true?
- 24:09SPEAKER_04: Because I thought the Beatles did that.
- 24:11SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: Uh when Dirty Diana went to the top of the US charts.
- 24:16SPEAKER_04: Do you remember that?
- 24:17SPEAKER_04: Dirty Diana.
- 24:21SPEAKER_04: Which is actually a pretty great song.
- 24:23SPEAKER_04: Do I I I bet I don't have that.
- 24:25SPEAKER_04: Hold on.
- 24:26SPEAKER_04: Uh let me go.
- 24:29SPEAKER_10: And had the really creepy dude in the video playing guitar.
- 24:33SPEAKER_10: Um Slash.
- 24:34SPEAKER_10: No.
- 24:35SPEAKER_10: Didn't Slash play guitar in that song?
- 24:37SPEAKER_10: He might have played it, but he wasn't in the video.
- 24:39SPEAKER_10: It was some dude with like really spiky hair.
- 24:43SPEAKER_04: Oh no, it wasn't.
- 24:44SPEAKER_04: It was it was it was Jennifer Batten.
- 24:46SPEAKER_04: It was a it was a woman.
- 24:47SPEAKER_10: That was not a woman.
- 24:48SPEAKER_04: Yes, it was.
- 24:49SPEAKER_04: I don't think so.
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, it is.
- 24:51SPEAKER_04: Jennifer Batten.
- 24:52SPEAKER_04: Are you sure?
- 24:52SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: Positive.
- 24:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I remember that.
- 24:55SPEAKER_10: Alright, here's our reaction video.
- 24:56SPEAKER_10: This guy's gonna blow up his tire.
- 24:59SPEAKER_10: It's gonna be awesome.
- 25:00SPEAKER_10: His arm is gonna go off when his tire blows.
- 25:03SPEAKER_10: Okay, right here.
- 25:05SPEAKER_13: Oh.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's Jennifer Batten.
- 25:09SPEAKER_04: That's not that's not Are you sure?
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: Yes, hold on.
- 25:11SPEAKER_04: That does not look like it.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: No, hold on.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: That's not her.
- 25:13SPEAKER_04: That's a bass player.
- 25:14SPEAKER_04: Just a second.
- 25:15SPEAKER_10: Well, I can't see.
- 25:17SPEAKER_10: I just see Diana getting out.
- 25:19SPEAKER_10: Okay, there's Michael.
- 25:20SPEAKER_10: There's Michael.
- 25:25SPEAKER_10: Even if he gets a shoulder strug, he made it cool.
- 25:28SPEAKER_10: You know what I mean?
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: Jennifer Batten was his touring guitarist.
- 25:52SPEAKER_10: Baby still, but I don't think she was in the video.
- 25:56SPEAKER_04: Did she have big spiky blonde?
- 25:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah, no, but I don't know if it was blonde.
- 26:00SPEAKER_10: Right there, that's a bass player.
- 26:01SPEAKER_10: That's a bass player.
- 26:02SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 26:13SPEAKER_07: Right there.
- 26:17SPEAKER_07: Right there, yeah.
- 26:18SPEAKER_07: Oh, that's Steve Stevens.
- 26:20SPEAKER_07: Okay, that's the guy digging up.
- 26:22SPEAKER_07: That's that's no Jennifer Brad.
- 26:24SPEAKER_07: Hold on, but she played guitar for him.
- 26:26SPEAKER_19: Yeah, but I don't think she was in this.
- 26:28SPEAKER_19: Do you know who Steve Steve Stevens is?
- 26:30SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 26:30SPEAKER_19: From Billy Idol.
- 26:32SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 26:32SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 26:33SPEAKER_19: Right there, yeah.
- 26:33SPEAKER_19: Yeah, that's Steve Stevens.
- 26:36unknown: I guess.
- 26:37SPEAKER_10: He had like this Edward Scissor hands thing going.
- 26:40SPEAKER_10: He did.
- 26:40SPEAKER_10: You know, he was all in leather.
- 26:41SPEAKER_10: It looks like a one-piece leather jumpsuit.
- 26:44SPEAKER_10: Kinda still does.
- 26:45SPEAKER_10: Does he?
- 26:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, have that same thing going.
- 26:48SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 26:48SPEAKER_10: Well, I mean, that's good.
- 26:50SPEAKER_10: That song reminds me a lot like uh Black Cat.
- 26:53SPEAKER_10: Black Cat from uh Janet Jack.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:55SPEAKER_10: You know, Sister Janet.
- 26:56SPEAKER_10: But I mean, like this album, I forgot how great.
- 27:02SPEAKER_10: It's a great album, yeah.
- 27:03SPEAKER_10: I I don't like this album as much as I like Thriller.
- 27:05SPEAKER_04: Well, of course not, but this is a pretty great album.
- 27:08SPEAKER_04: Uh this is the one with Cita Garrett uh singing with him.
- 27:11SPEAKER_04: This is I Just Can't Stop Loving You.
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: This is a great song.
- 27:13SPEAKER_04: This is a great song.
- 27:15SPEAKER_10: Um, you know.
- 27:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I know, right?
- 27:18SPEAKER_04: There's a lot.
- 27:18SPEAKER_04: That's a big big long intro.
- 27:20SPEAKER_04: Um, let's see.
- 27:21SPEAKER_04: Should be kicking in your right there.
- 27:23SPEAKER_04: There it is.
- 27:26SPEAKER_04: Uh Man in the Mirror was on this album.
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: Which I forget.
- 27:32SPEAKER_12: Each time the wind blows, I hear your voice so I call you.
- 27:37SPEAKER_10: I think because it's stuck around so long, everybody thinks this album's from the nineties, but it's on our love is dark.
- 27:45SPEAKER_12: I think you're right.
- 27:47SPEAKER_04: I think I think I thought it was from the nineties.
- 27:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was.
- 27:50SPEAKER_04: The one that was after this was uh Dangerous, which had black or white on it.
- 27:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:55SPEAKER_04: That's when he started getting weird.
- 27:57SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:59SPEAKER_12: Um's got me high.
- 28:02SPEAKER_12: I'm long to get by.
- 28:05SPEAKER_04: I don't know why we're listening to this, but I just forgot how great this album was.
- 28:09SPEAKER_04: Uh and then this one had a this this song had a great um a female lead in it, Michael Jackson, which is weird for Michael Jackson, but still.
- 28:20SPEAKER_10: Um sometimes it's hard to tell.
- 28:23SPEAKER_04: Remember this one?
- 28:24SPEAKER_04: Oh, this is a great song, man.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: And it's a great video, too.
- 28:27unknown: You can know what the others are.
- 28:29unknown: What is doing?
- 28:30unknown: I thought I'd do it in the gold.
- 28:32SPEAKER_14: What is he doing with the biggest thing?
- 28:34SPEAKER_04: This is uh the way you make me feel.
- 28:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:37SPEAKER_10: This video is great, man.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:39SPEAKER_04: He always made great videos.
- 28:41SPEAKER_10: And every girl was gorgeous.
- 28:42SPEAKER_19: Yes, yep.
- 28:43SPEAKER_10: Every single time.
- 28:44SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 28:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this I think this is probably my favorite.
- 28:54SPEAKER_10: I always wondered what was with the three-finger thing.
- 28:56SPEAKER_10: I was like, hey, hey, hey, hey, super cool.
- 28:59SPEAKER_10: I'm an alien.
- 29:02SPEAKER_10: I'm gonna start my finger.
- 29:04SPEAKER_10: Well, I like I like how he's wearing a string as a belt.
- 29:07SPEAKER_10: You know what I mean?
- 29:09SPEAKER_10: Or it's it's like part of a maybe like the hotel bathroom.
- 29:13SPEAKER_10: You know what I mean?
- 29:14SPEAKER_10: He's just like, I need a belt! Well, now he's just kind of walking around.
- 29:17SPEAKER_04: That's just kind of creepy.
- 29:17SPEAKER_10: It's a little bit in retrospect, right?
- 29:19SPEAKER_10: It's like well, I mean, now would be creepy.
- 29:21SPEAKER_10: Back then it was just it's Michael Jackson, he's super cool.
- 29:24SPEAKER_10: Do knock me off of my feet, knock me out! Now, see, very But I mean, look at that.
- 29:34SPEAKER_10: That dude could dance, man.
- 29:36SPEAKER_10: I'm sorry.
- 29:36SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah.
- 29:37SPEAKER_10: Nobody's ever gonna touch Michael Jackson when it comes to dancing.
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I agree.
- 29:44SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 29:45SPEAKER_10: I don't know if this was like uh you know, like the beat it video when they actually had LA gang members in the video.
- 29:52SPEAKER_10: Like, I don't know if these guys are actually like gang members and you're just like, hey, wanna be on my video?
- 29:57SPEAKER_10: And they'd be all like, heck yeah, man.
- 29:58SPEAKER_04: I don't think so because they all start dancing like really well.
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:03SPEAKER_04: And isn't there one section where they're dancing and they're like gyrating on the ground?
- 30:09SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah.
- 30:10SPEAKER_19: Am I right?
- 30:10SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 30:12SPEAKER_10: Oh I think he's like I think he's like humping the ground.
- 30:14SPEAKER_10: Well, it's this big it's this big scene right here.
- 30:16SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:17SPEAKER_10: This is it right here.
- 30:19SPEAKER_10: Very reminiscent of uh the thurler video.
- 30:22SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you know.
- 30:22SPEAKER_04: But it's shot so well.
- 30:24SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 30:25SPEAKER_04: Look at that.
- 30:25SPEAKER_19: I mean that's you know the what if we took the music out and just let that in.
- 30:39SPEAKER_19: Yeah, this is where it gets weird.
- 30:41SPEAKER_19: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:44SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:45SPEAKER_10: See, he's like humping the ground.
- 30:46SPEAKER_10: I'm like, dude, what that's that's that's gonna hurt.
- 30:49SPEAKER_10: I'm sorry.
- 30:50SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: Oh, then he takes the shirt off.
- 30:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:53SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 30:54SPEAKER_10: No, he doesn't take it off.
- 30:55SPEAKER_10: He just like so it can flow.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: Anyway, that uh I don't know why I I went to that, but uh that came out in 1988.
- 31:08SPEAKER_04: That's correct.
- 31:09SPEAKER_10: And had five number one singles from yeah, it just seems like it was from the 90s because like I said, it was around so long.
- 31:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know.
- 31:17SPEAKER_04: And happy birthday to Johnny Cola.
- 31:20SPEAKER_04: Do you know who Johnny Cola is?
- 31:22SPEAKER_04: Uh heir to the Coca-Cola fortune?
- 31:25SPEAKER_04: Uh I think it's Cola or Cola.
- 31:27SPEAKER_04: C-O-L-L-A.
- 31:28SPEAKER_04: Johnny Cola.
- 31:29SPEAKER_04: Johnny Cola.
- 31:30SPEAKER_10: No idea.
- 31:30SPEAKER_04: No?
- 31:31SPEAKER_10: Nope.
- 31:31SPEAKER_10: I do not know.
- 31:36SPEAKER_10: That's Huey Lewis.
- 31:37SPEAKER_10: You can't fool me.
- 31:38SPEAKER_15: Johnny!
- 31:39SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's Doc Flair! Saxon guitar.
- 31:42SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 31:42SPEAKER_04: I didn't know.
- 31:43SPEAKER_04: And actually actually arranged most ran arranged most of the music for Huey Lewis.
- 31:48SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 31:49SPEAKER_04: And wrote or co-wrote almost all the songs.
- 31:53SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 31:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:54SPEAKER_04: He was born in 52, so he's what, 74 today.
- 31:57SPEAKER_10: Sounds right?
- 31:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:10SPEAKER_04: I don't know, I could listen to Huey Lewis all day.
- 32:12SPEAKER_04: Heck yeah, dude.
- 32:14SPEAKER_04: Um there, uh Huey Lewis' uh Broadway play.
- 32:18SPEAKER_04: Do you remember that they were working on a Broadway play?
- 32:20SPEAKER_04: No.
- 32:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, there was a big run-up to it, and it's officially off Broadway now.
- 32:27SPEAKER_10: What was it about?
- 32:28SPEAKER_04: About the life of Huey Lewis.
- 32:31SPEAKER_04: It was um I think it was called the Hard Rock and Roll.
- 32:36SPEAKER_10: Well, that makes sense.
- 32:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah, uh and I can't believe they made it try to make Huey Lewis's life into a Broadway play.
- 32:41SPEAKER_04: Well, I don't know if it's his life or uh I d I don't know what it was about, but he was involved.
- 32:46SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 32:46SPEAKER_04: Uh and uh did a lot of press for it, and it was supposedly really, really good.
- 32:52SPEAKER_04: Um, but it didn't last long on Broadway.
- 32:54SPEAKER_04: So the the first the first run after the first run, it's it's gone.
- 32:58SPEAKER_10: Well, I mean I'm sure it's playing in a they're gonna travel with it.

- 33:07SPEAKER_04: Uh so all those people that worked so hard on it are gonna still have a job, so that's nice.
- 33:12SPEAKER_10: That's good.
- 33:12SPEAKER_04: So, yeah, happy birthday, Johnny Cola of Huey Lewis and the News.
- 33:17SPEAKER_04: Not of Coca-Cola Fame.

- 33:20SPEAKER_10: I was mistaken.
- 33:21SPEAKER_04: Um I don't want to start any rumors.
- 33:23SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 33:24SPEAKER_08: Should we play mixtape now?
- 33:26SPEAKER_08: Why not?
- 33:27SPEAKER_04: Why not?
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: Why not?
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: We can play mixtape whenever we want.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: We gotta find out who the winner was from the last question.
- 33:32SPEAKER_04: I don't even remember what the last question was.
- 33:35SPEAKER_10: I already told you.
- 33:37SPEAKER_04: No, no, no, the the last one.
- 33:38SPEAKER_10: The last one.
- 33:39SPEAKER_04: Who won who won?
- 33:42SPEAKER_04: The last one.
- 33:45SPEAKER_04: You have to tell me who which one she picked, which answer she picked.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I know.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: Okay, that's what I'm talking about.
- 33:50SPEAKER_10: Oh, okay.
- 33:50SPEAKER_10: What was the last question?
- 33:51SPEAKER_10: I don't remember.
- 33:52SPEAKER_10: It was the artist and the one song.
- 33:56SPEAKER_04: No, that's the one for this week, isn't it?
- 33:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that's the one we were answering.
- 34:01SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 34:01SPEAKER_04: So we answered one last week.
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: What was that one?
- 34:04SPEAKER_10: I don't remember.
- 34:07SPEAKER_10: I just remember.
- 34:08SPEAKER_10: She was supposed to pick the winner.
- 34:09SPEAKER_10: The winner of this week's question.
- 34:11SPEAKER_10: We asked it last week.
- 34:12SPEAKER_10: That's why you're getting confused.
- 34:17SPEAKER_10: You didn't just no no no just let me handle it.
- 34:19SPEAKER_10: No, no, no.
- 34:19SPEAKER_10: I got this under control.
- 34:20SPEAKER_10: For every podcast, we get a winner and then we ask next week's question.
- 34:24SPEAKER_10: Yeah, we haven't asked next week's question.
- 34:26SPEAKER_10: This week's question is the artist and the song you want to hear.
- 34:29SPEAKER_10: But we get a No, we've already done that.
- 34:32SPEAKER_10: That was in the past.
- 34:33SPEAKER_04: Hold on.
- 34:34SPEAKER_04: We and So I gave you a song and an artist that I want to hear play for me.
- 34:44SPEAKER_04: You might you haven't said you must have.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: That's this week's question.
- 34:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:49SPEAKER_04: So last week's question, I gave you an answer for four.
- 34:53SPEAKER_04: And she's supposed to judge whose answer was the best.
- 34:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 34:58SPEAKER_10: That's the the the squeak's question.
- 35:01SPEAKER_10: But I didn't give you an answer yet.
- 35:03SPEAKER_10: You must have.
- 35:06SPEAKER_10: Oh, it was our favorite concert one.
- 35:07SPEAKER_10: That's the one.
- 35:08SPEAKER_10: Thank you.
- 35:09SPEAKER_10: You gotta stop bringing up questions because you're very confused.
- 35:12SPEAKER_10: That's that's what I was trying to do.
- 35:14SPEAKER_10: We gotta come up with a better system.
- 35:15SPEAKER_10: Yeah, a little bit.
- 35:16SPEAKER_10: Let's stop referring to him to weak questions.
- 35:19SPEAKER_10: Let's just refer him to as the question.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: Well, I that's not a question.
- 35:23SPEAKER_04: Because you're confusing me, which is a good question.
- 35:24SPEAKER_04: I couldn't remember the question.
- 35:25SPEAKER_10: I couldn't remember the question.
- 35:26SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you're confusing me.
- 35:27SPEAKER_10: Stop it.
- 35:28SPEAKER_10: Sorry.
- 35:28SPEAKER_10: I'm easily confused.
- 35:29SPEAKER_04: Okay, so last week's question was uh Favorite concert.
- 35:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, what your your favorite concert that you've ever been to.
- 35:36SPEAKER_04: And I remember I said, I think I went with uh Big Head Todd Bare Naked Ladies because of Matt Maddie being with us.
- 35:44SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 35:45SPEAKER_10: Uh you went with And I went with uh Big Head Todd.
- 35:48SPEAKER_10: Big Head Todd Sugar Loaf.
- 35:50SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 35:50SPEAKER_10: And Larry Cousin Larry went with uh Paul McCartney at Phoenix.
- 35:54SPEAKER_10: That's right.
- 35:55SPEAKER_10: Okay, so this is what she said.
- 35:57SPEAKER_10: Uh similar to last week, it was difficult to pick because you all had awesome experiences at each, and for your own individual reasons that were special moments for all.
- 36:09SPEAKER_10: I decided to pick based on who I would love to see live.
- 36:12SPEAKER_10: I wish I could have experienced them all.
- 36:14SPEAKER_19: She's gonna say Paul McCartney.
- 36:18SPEAKER_10: Oh, music and bare naked ladies is a great band.
- 36:20SPEAKER_10: Ultimately, I love Paul McCartney's music.
- 36:22SPEAKER_10: I would love to go see him live.
- 36:23SPEAKER_10: Paul McCartney was the winner of this week.
- 36:25SPEAKER_10: I probably would have would have picked it up.
- 36:27SPEAKER_10: I would have picked that too.
- 36:27SPEAKER_04: I would have picked that too.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: Uh if I could see Paul McCartney, I'm you know, in a heartbeat.
- 36:32SPEAKER_04: Heck yeah, dude.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: Alright, so this week's question, I I didn't mean to confuse you.
- 36:37SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 36:38SPEAKER_04: You made it up, actually, right?
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:41SPEAKER_10: It was a free play or something on there.
- 36:44SPEAKER_04: So it was something to the effect of if there was one artist.
- 36:50SPEAKER_04: Um stop it, video Doug! Stop judging me! Yeah, but I don't think the question is written there.
- 36:58SPEAKER_04: I just think it's the preplay.
- 37:02SPEAKER_10: I got it, video Doug! You suck! You're no help at all.
- 37:07SPEAKER_10: Don't you just sit over there in your little screen and quit judging me?
- 37:12SPEAKER_10: I hate that guy.
- 37:17SPEAKER_10: This is very extraterrestrial.
- 37:19SPEAKER_10: Uh yeah, it was a choose your own adventure.
- 37:22SPEAKER_04: And you said if you you could have any artist sit and play you one song, who would be and what song was it?
- 37:28SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 37:29SPEAKER_04: Correct.
- 37:30SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 37:30SPEAKER_04: Um, who's going first?
- 37:31SPEAKER_04: You want to do Larry's first?
- 37:32SPEAKER_10: Yeah, we'll do cousin Larry's Larry's first.
- 37:34SPEAKER_10: Uh cousin Larry.
- 37:37SPEAKER_10: He is in Mexico right now.
- 37:38SPEAKER_10: Hola.
- 37:39SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 37:40SPEAKER_10: Mexico.
- 37:41SPEAKER_10: Yes, he's outside of Cancun.
- 37:43SPEAKER_04: Just kind of vacation.
- 37:44SPEAKER_10: I'm not sure.
- 37:44SPEAKER_10: Uh he's either on vacation or working for a drug cartel.
- 37:47SPEAKER_10: I'm not sure.
- 37:48SPEAKER_10: So or both.
- 37:49SPEAKER_10: Or both.
- 37:50SPEAKER_10: Maybe.
- 37:53SPEAKER_10: He did send me this picture of him in a uh sports bar at the resort.
- 37:57SPEAKER_10: I was like, everybody loves Tom Brady.
- 37:59SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 37:59SPEAKER_10: Still.
- 38:00SPEAKER_10: Even a magical.
- 38:01SPEAKER_10: Even a man go.
- 38:02SPEAKER_10: Uh yeah, so uh, let's see.
- 38:05SPEAKER_10: Let's see.
- 38:07SPEAKER_10: Okay, so he said Jimi Hendrix playing Purple Haze.
- 38:14SPEAKER_10: So he said, I made an assumption the artist could be dead or alive, and I said, Yeah, that's a good assumption.
- 38:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because I'm my artist is dead too.
- 38:21SPEAKER_10: Yeah, so there you go.
- 38:22SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 38:23SPEAKER_10: So, yes.
- 38:24SPEAKER_10: So Cousin Larry chose Jimi Hendrix.
- 38:27SPEAKER_10: Purple Haze.
- 38:28SPEAKER_04: That's a good one.
- 38:28SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 38:29SPEAKER_04: Do you want to go or do you want me to go?
- 38:31SPEAKER_10: Uh I can go.
- 38:32SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 38:32SPEAKER_10: You go last usually?
- 38:33SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 38:35SPEAKER_10: Anyway, my song is Rush to the Pass.
- 38:39SPEAKER_04: The Pass I don't think I've heard that.
- 38:40SPEAKER_10: Never heard the pass?
- 38:41SPEAKER_10: That's a great song.
- 38:42SPEAKER_04: Actually, we should uh we should probably um give Larry uh I mean I think everybody knows Purple Haze.
- 38:49SPEAKER_10: Well, if you've never heard Purple Haze, um then you're really young.
- 38:56SPEAKER_10: What?
- 38:56SPEAKER_04: What what what?
- 38:58SPEAKER_04: Uh that's not Jimi Hendrix.
- 39:00SPEAKER_04: I know, just hold this.
- 39:02SPEAKER_10: He's driving a truck and something's number one.
- 39:05SPEAKER_10: Oh here we go.
- 39:06SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 39:07SPEAKER_04: So yeah.
- 39:11SPEAKER_04: So now is it just Jimi Hendrix sitting next to Uncle or Cousin Larry and playing it on uh electric guitar?
- 39:19SPEAKER_10: Could be the experience with him, doesn't matter.
- 39:22SPEAKER_10: Doesn't matter, huh?
- 39:22SPEAKER_10: Doesn't matter.
- 39:23SPEAKER_04: Okay, so I think we got that.
- 39:43SPEAKER_04: I have never I don't think I I don't think I've ever heard the pass from Rush.
- 39:48SPEAKER_04: Okay, so this is on this is on Presto.
- 39:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:12SPEAKER_16: Waiting for the world's lost.
- 40:17SPEAKER_04: What is it about this song?
- 40:19SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 40:19SPEAKER_10: I j I just love the chorus.
- 40:21SPEAKER_10: That skinny Elvis gig we did back in March.
- 40:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:24SPEAKER_10: That Getty Lee t-shirt I was wearing, that's that that it's from that.
- 40:28SPEAKER_10: It's from the song.
- 40:29SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 40:29SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 41:05SPEAKER_10: I like it.
- 41:06SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it's a great song.
- 41:08SPEAKER_10: Again, it's an would you All of us get lost in the darkness.
- 41:11SPEAKER_10: Dreamers learn to steer by the stars.
- 41:15SPEAKER_04: That's cool.
- 41:16SPEAKER_10: How great.
- 41:17SPEAKER_10: I mean, that's a Neil Peart line if I ever heard one.
- 41:19SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 41:19SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 41:20SPEAKER_04: You'd call that an album cut, right?
- 41:22SPEAKER_10: That's not a that was never released, but I I just the first time I heard that song, I was just hooked on it.
- 41:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:28SPEAKER_04: So I get it.
- 41:29SPEAKER_04: Alright, so that's yours.
- 41:30SPEAKER_04: That's mine.
- 41:31SPEAKER_04: Mine is also passed on.
- 41:38SPEAKER_10: Baby King.
- 41:39SPEAKER_04: Baby King, the thrill is gone.
- 41:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:43SPEAKER_04: I don't care if he sits and plays it on an acoustic guitar.
- 41:46SPEAKER_04: I would prefer Lucille.
- 41:48SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 41:48SPEAKER_10: He docked play on a Lucille.
- 42:08SPEAKER_14: The thrill is gone.
- 42:11unknown: Come on.
- 42:12SPEAKER_14: The thrill is gone.
- 42:16SPEAKER_04: I mean now we saw him.
- 42:21SPEAKER_04: He did this song.
- 42:22SPEAKER_10: He did of course he did this, maybe.
- 42:24SPEAKER_10: We wouldn't have left him let him leave the stadium if he hadn't played the song.
- 42:29SPEAKER_15: You know you done me wrong, baby.
- 42:34SPEAKER_15: And you'll be sorry someday.
- 42:41SPEAKER_14: The thrill is gone.
- 42:43SPEAKER_04: So there we go.
- 42:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:45SPEAKER_04: There's our three.
- 42:46SPEAKER_04: There's our three.
- 42:47SPEAKER_04: So um Purple Haze from Jimi Hendrix, The Pass from Rush, and The Thrill is Gone from BB King.
- 42:53SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 42:54SPEAKER_04: All good choices.
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: All good choices.
- 42:57SPEAKER_11: Now we gotta pick it for next time.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 43:00SPEAKER_04: What is the question for I don't I don't want to call it next week because I don't want to confuse you?

- 43:05SPEAKER_04: Next question.
- 43:07SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 43:07SPEAKER_10: So here we go.
- 43:20SPEAKER_10: This is the craziest question.
- 43:23SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 43:24SPEAKER_10: End of the road.
- 43:26SPEAKER_10: The pack of kids behind you is getting closer.
- 43:29SPEAKER_10: You have two options.
- 43:31SPEAKER_10: Take a beating and give up your new BMX bicycle.
- 43:35SPEAKER_10: Or gamble with legendary status and your life riding down Dead Man's Gulch.
- 43:41SPEAKER_10: What song plays as your front tire rolls over the edge?
- 43:48SPEAKER_11: What?
- 43:49SPEAKER_11: This is a crazy question, man.
- 43:51SPEAKER_04: Okay, so you're being chased by a group of kids.
- 43:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:54SPEAKER_10: And you either give up give up your bike or or go down this big hill that
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: You can die.
- 44:00SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 44:01SPEAKER_10: What song plays is your front tire?
- 44:03SPEAKER_10: You've already you've obviously chosen to roll the and take you know, go down the hill.
- 44:07SPEAKER_10: So what song starts playing?
- 44:09SPEAKER_04: What song starts playing?
- 44:11SPEAKER_10: That's crazy.
- 44:12SPEAKER_10: That's gonna be a fun one.
- 44:15SPEAKER_04: I got it already.
- 44:17SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 44:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 44:19SPEAKER_04: I'll forget the question when you walk in this week.
- 44:21SPEAKER_10: I know you will.
- 44:21SPEAKER_10: You'd be like, what's last week's question?
- 44:22SPEAKER_10: I'm like, oh, we already did it, you know.
- 44:26SPEAKER_10: No, I mean the week those is the new question.
- 44:28SPEAKER_11: I'm like, oh no, no, we already did that.

- 44:37SPEAKER_08: It looks like you can't handle that box right now.
- 44:39SPEAKER_08: This box sucks, man.
- 44:43SPEAKER_10: I'm just like because you know you think you know, you you know, you put the bottom part into the cover, well, the it just sticks there, apparently.
- 44:53SPEAKER_10: I mean, they're they're like best friends.
- 44:54SPEAKER_10: I'm like, I'll never let you go, Jack.
- 44:59SPEAKER_10: It's it's Jack and Rose on the door.
- 45:03SPEAKER_10: Well, guess what, Rose?
- 45:04SPEAKER_10: You're gonna let go.
- 45:06SPEAKER_10: Because that's how the movie goes.
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: You really are struggling.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: I am struggling, man.
- 45:11SPEAKER_10: Well, because I don't want all the cards to fall out.
- 45:13SPEAKER_10: That's why that's part of the problem.
- 45:15SPEAKER_10: And so I'm gonna do it this way.
- 45:17SPEAKER_10: I'm gonna take all the cards out, and now I'll easily extract the box.
- 45:22SPEAKER_10: There you go.
- 45:22SPEAKER_10: And now I'm gonna put the cards back.
- 45:24SPEAKER_10: Doug got it! They went in sideways.
- 45:28SPEAKER_10: Stupid cards.
- 45:30SPEAKER_04: This is gonna be the entire promo, you know there.
- 45:35SPEAKER_11: Watch Doug get his butt kicked by a box of cards.
- 45:41SPEAKER_11: Shut up, video, Doug! You couldn't do any better.

- 49:26SPEAKER_08: Uh okay, so let's uh Is it is it time for the brrrr?
- 49:33SPEAKER_08: It's time for the brrrrrr the bonus beatles bit.
- 49:36SPEAKER_04: Actually, before we do that, let me start the music for uh the climbing in the wall of tunes, because I always forget that.
- 49:44SPEAKER_10: So has it started?
- 49:46SPEAKER_10: It's oh there it is.
- 49:47SPEAKER_10: It's a beautiful thing.
- 49:49SPEAKER_10: Lovely.
- 49:52SPEAKER_09: Um let's go, let's bubble to we puke.
- 49:55SPEAKER_04: So while you are uh reading the bonus beetle spit, I'm gonna take off the headphones and climb the wall.
- 50:00SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 50:01SPEAKER_04: And and get an album.
- 50:02SPEAKER_04: So go ahead.
- 50:03SPEAKER_10: There I go.
- 50:06SPEAKER_10: This is way easier than that box.
- 50:10SPEAKER_10: Two events uh oh, I'm sorry.
- 50:12SPEAKER_10: The it's from I'm a loser.
- 50:14SPEAKER_10: This is what we're talking about today.
- 50:15SPEAKER_10: So apropos.
- 50:17SPEAKER_10: Apropos.
- 50:18SPEAKER_10: Two events during 1964 were to have a profound effect on John's writing.
- 50:23SPEAKER_10: The first was hearing Bob Dylan's music in Paris during January, when Paul acquired the Freewillin' Bob Dylan from an interviewer at a local radio station.
- 50:32SPEAKER_10: Paul had heard Dylan's music before through his student friends in Liverpool, but it was the first time John had heard it.
- 50:42SPEAKER_10: Sorry.
- 50:43SPEAKER_10: Yeah, right there.
- 50:46SPEAKER_10: After hearing Freewillin', which was Dylan's second album, they went out and bought his debut album, Bob Dylan.
- 50:52SPEAKER_10: And according to John, for the rest of our three weeks, we didn't stop playing them.
- 50:56SPEAKER_10: We all went potty on Dylan.
- 50:59SPEAKER_10: I'm not sure exactly what that must be some British term.
- 51:02SPEAKER_10: Must be.
- 51:02SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 51:03SPEAKER_10: The second event to affect John in a big way was meeting journalist Kenneth Alsop, a writer for the Daily Mail and a regular interviewer on tonight on Tonight, BBC's television's news program.
- 51:16SPEAKER_10: John first met him on March 23rd when he was interviewed for four minutes on tonight about his book in his own right.
- 51:24SPEAKER_10: And then again at a foil's literary luncheon at the Dorchester Hotel in London's Park Lane.
- 51:30SPEAKER_10: Also, up a handsome craggy Yorkshire man I don't know what that has to do with anything, was 44 years old at the time and was about to become one of the best-known faces on British television.
- 51:42SPEAKER_10: He had been in journalism since 1938 with a brief interruption caused by the war during which he served in the Royal Air Force.
- 51:49SPEAKER_10: It was in the Green Room, the hospitality suite at BBC's Lime Grove Studios on March 23rd that Al Sop first spoke to John about his songwriting, encouraging him not to hide his true feelings behind the usual banalities of the pop song.
- 52:04SPEAKER_10: It was obvious to Alsop from reading his own right that John had much more to give if he was prepared to open up to his deeper feelings.
- 52:12SPEAKER_10: Years later, John told his confidant, Elliot Mintz, that this meeting marked a significant significant turning point in his songwriting.
- 52:20SPEAKER_10: He told me he was very nervous that day, and because of this, he became very talkative and engaged Al Sop in conversations as Mintz.
- 52:27SPEAKER_10: Also, in essence, said to him that he wasn't terribly enamored with Beatles' songs because they all tend to be she loves him, he loves her, they love her, I love her.
- 52:37SPEAKER_10: He suggested to John that he tried to write something more autobiography based on personal experience rather than these abstract images that struck a chord with him.
- 52:46SPEAKER_10: Although recorded five months later, I'm a loser was the first fruit of this meeting with Also.
- 52:52SPEAKER_10: It would be wrong to say it was a complete change of direction, because from the beginning John had written songs in which he exposed himself, that sounds really bad, as lonely, sad, and abandoned.
- 53:02SPEAKER_10: But I but in I'm a loser, he let a little more of his true self show.
- 53:06SPEAKER_10: On the surface, another song about having lost a girl, but the lines, which announce that beneath his mask he's wearing a frown, suggest that he considers himself a loser in more ways than one.
- 53:17SPEAKER_10: He's not just a loser in love, he feels like he's a loser in life.
- 53:20SPEAKER_10: All this all this would be idle speculation if it wasn't for the fact that I'm a loser can now be seen as an early stage in John's torturous journey towards candid self-revel relev revelation in his songwriting.
- 53:34SPEAKER_10: At the time, he was quick to credit the effect Bob Dylan had on I'm a loser.
- 53:39SPEAKER_10: Anyone who's one of the best in his field, as Dylan is, is bound to influence people, he said at the time.
- 53:44SPEAKER_10: I wouldn't be surprised if we influenced him in some way.
- 53:47SPEAKER_10: Kenneth Alsop went on to present the television news program twenty-four hours, and then in May 1973, he was found dead at his home.
- 53:56SPEAKER_10: Why do why do we keep talking about this dude?
- 54:00SPEAKER_10: Who cares?
- 54:02SPEAKER_10: Well, that's sad.
- 54:05SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 54:06SPEAKER_10: I mean, he's been dead since, you know, for over fifty years now, but whatever.
- 54:10SPEAKER_10: Uh the cause of his death was an overdose of painkillers, but the lack of a suicide note meant that the inquest was left to rec r record an open verdict.
- 54:21SPEAKER_10: Hard traveling, Aesop's Alsops account of the life of the American Hobo was first published in 1967 and has become a classic of its kind and is still in print.
- 54:31SPEAKER_10: Most of it was called this dude.
- 54:34SPEAKER_04: Well, obviously he had uh something to do with it.
- 54:38SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 54:39SPEAKER_07: I guess.
- 54:41SPEAKER_04: We should say this comes from a hard days right from Steve Turner.
- 54:43SPEAKER_04: Did we say that?
- 54:44SPEAKER_04: No, I did not, but Hard Days Right.
- 54:47SPEAKER_04: Book by Steve Turner.
- 54:48SPEAKER_03: That's what uh that is the bonus Beatles bit for today.
- 54:51SPEAKER_03: Thank you, Doug.
- 54:52SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 54:53SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 54:59SPEAKER_10: I thought it'd be more about the song, not about this.
- 55:01SPEAKER_10: Yeah, okay.
- 55:02SPEAKER_10: Also died of uh, you know, overdose of painkillers.
- 55:05SPEAKER_10: Well, did he write the song?
- 55:06SPEAKER_10: No.
- 55:08SPEAKER_10: We all know how John Lennon died, but it was more important.
- 55:12SPEAKER_10: This dude, I don't even know this dude.
- 55:16SPEAKER_10: He has nothing, he did write the song.
- 55:20SPEAKER_10: I mean, I suppose he had something to do with it.
- 55:22SPEAKER_10: I mean, he's like, uh, your songs suck.
- 55:25SPEAKER_10: You better write something better.
- 55:26SPEAKER_10: So John was like, well, screw you, I'm gonna write something better.
- 55:29SPEAKER_10: And he did, and the guy was like, Oh, he did! Ah, my heart! You know, you should have written that book.
- 55:36SPEAKER_10: It'd be a terrible book.
- 55:38SPEAKER_10: Nobody would ever have it.
- 55:40SPEAKER_10: It would be it would be about it'd be about like six pages.
- 55:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah, Paul wrote this song, it's really good.
- 55:49SPEAKER_10: John wrote this song, it's really good.
- 55:52SPEAKER_10: Ringo wrote this song, it's not very good.
- 55:58SPEAKER_04: Uh alright.
- 56:00SPEAKER_04: I have an album.
- 56:01SPEAKER_04: I have climbed the wall, I have an album.
- 56:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:03SPEAKER_10: Sometimes I forget.
- 56:04SPEAKER_10: I get going and I just forget what we're doing.
- 56:06SPEAKER_04: So um let the guessing begin.
- 56:08SPEAKER_04: Is it a band?
- 56:09SPEAKER_10: It is a band.
- 56:10SPEAKER_10: Alright.
- 56:11SPEAKER_10: Um Beastie Boys.
- 56:15SPEAKER_04: No.
- 56:40SPEAKER_10: Which one?
- 56:44SPEAKER_04: Just go from F backwards.
- 56:46SPEAKER_10: Okay, extreme.
- 56:51SPEAKER_10: What am I doing?
- 56:51SPEAKER_10: Taking a friggin' field sobriety test?
- 56:57SPEAKER_10: W seven D Oh D.
- 57:05SPEAKER_10: Does it be it must begin with D.
- 57:07SPEAKER_09: No.
- 57:08SPEAKER_10: C?
- 57:08SPEAKER_10: Oh, oh C okay, it's a C band.
- 57:11SPEAKER_10: C band.
- 57:14SPEAKER_10: Video dog.
- 57:15SPEAKER_10: I see you pointing at me.
- 57:16SPEAKER_10: Jerker.
- 57:21SPEAKER_10: Who's that guy?
- 57:23SPEAKER_10: Uh so height of popularity of the C band.
- 57:29SPEAKER_04: Uh I would say honestly, the height of popularity is probably the eighties.
- 57:42SPEAKER_10: Any virtual man?
- 57:44SPEAKER_04: Um I think there was a four Chicago.
- 58:39SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 58:39SPEAKER_04: Um the album that I've chosen is Chicago twenty-one.
- 58:46SPEAKER_04: Oh, so this this is kind of a controversial is not the word.
- 58:54SPEAKER_04: When David Foster came into the picture around Chicago 16, something like that.
- 59:01SPEAKER_04: They went a different direction.
- 59:03SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 59:04SPEAKER_04: Because they were they were a rock jazz fusion horn band in the 70s.
- 59:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:13SPEAKER_04: And even early 80s, actually.
- 59:15SPEAKER_04: And then David Foster came in, and uh, you know, m much to his credit, he he made them superstars.
- 59:22SPEAKER_11: Oh yeah.
- 59:23SPEAKER_04: Uh Chicago 16, Chicago 17, which is like their big their biggest album.
- 59:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:27SPEAKER_04: Chicago 18 after Peter Sotera left, Jason Chef came in.
- 59:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:31SPEAKER_04: Uh and then they had Chicago 19, uh, which was also another pop album.
- 59:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:37SPEAKER_04: And the reason I say it's uh like a controversial, uh, is because the band uh didn't really like those albums.
- 59:45SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 59:46SPEAKER_04: They didn't like that direction.
- 59:47SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 59:48SPEAKER_04: Because they were a horn band.
- 59:51SPEAKER_04: They were a they were a rock and roll band with horns that played a lot of jazz and and things like that.
- 59:58SPEAKER_04: And that was their origin.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_04: And they kind of had to it's career-wise, they kind of had to keep up that pop thing.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_04: Because they had momentum.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_04: So this was on the the latter end of that run.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_04: So you had Chicago 16, which had like which still had Sotera, it had Love Me Tomorrow, Love Me Tomorrow.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_04: Very pop.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_04: Hard to say I'm sorry, I think was on Chicago 16.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_04: Chicago 17 had the big hit Stay the Night.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_04: You're the Inspiration.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_04: Um Chicago 18 had If She Would have Been Faithful, Will You Still Love Me?
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_04: Um Terrible Remake of 25 or 64.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_04: Um, and then Chicago 19 had Look Away, uh, What Kind of Man Would I Be?
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_04: These were all big hits for Chicago.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_04: And then they released a greatest hits album, which they considered Chicago 20.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_04: Which I don't think it really was.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_04: Not really.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_04: I think there was a couple of new songs on it, but they consider that Chicago 20.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_04: Then they came out with Chicago 21.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_04: Now, they're still in that pop uh rock phase.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_04: And the two songs that were really kind of released from this album had nothing to do with the band.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_04: They were written by pop songstress Diane Warren, who was a huge hitmaker in the 80s and and 90s.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_04: Probably still is.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_04: But this is Jason Chef singing.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_00: I understand there's no future for us in the show.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_04: This is in 1991.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_04: And this is when Bill Champlin was still in the band.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_04: Which ever since he left.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_04: I mean he had such a soulful voice.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_04: Now we've gotta sing goodbye.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna play the two hits and then my favorite song.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_04: Here's Bill Champlin right here.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_04: So that was released, and this was the hit.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_04: This had uh Bill Champlin on leaf vocals.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_04: This is called Chasin't the Wind.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_04: I don't remember if you remember this song.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_10: I don't remember the song.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_10: Which is tight because I have this album.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_04: To make you This was also written by Diane Warren.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_18: If you ever felt anything.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_04: But again, it must be, as a as an artist, it must be just like kind of Demeaning is not the word, but like we can't do this on our own, so the record company wants us to.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_10: Well, maybe it's kind of emasculating.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's what I mean.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_10: You know, uh, you know, it's just like well, we've been writing songs for you know 30 years.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_10: Now all of a sudden you want us to do other people's songs?
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_10: What what the F, dude.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you know?
- 1:03:24unknown: Now all the dance just all things.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_02: But again, another ballad.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_02: Now Well, that was their bread and butter in the 80s, 90s.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_04: From 16, they had Hard to Say I'm sorry.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_04: Um Chicago 17, they had You're the Inspiration, Hard Habit to Break.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_04: Um ballads were their thing.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_11: Oh yeah.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_04: But okay, so those are the only two I wanted to play from that one.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_04: So the but this song, I just love this horn part.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_04: There, I I think there's one or two songs on the on each album in that in that time period that they just kind of screw it, we're gonna do a horn song.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_04: Although this this is a horn song, but it's still very pop, and uh, but I love it.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_04: God save the queen.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_02: It's still very late eighties, early nineties.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_04: Um you may be asking why I still have this album.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_04: Well, I love Chicago.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_04: Um, I really do.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_04: Uh the guitar player in this one was not given um a fair shake, Dwayne Bailey.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_04: I think he was on uh he was on two albums.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was well saying then they and then they just kind of said, Oh, we need somebody else.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_04: Bye bye.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_04: Uh and they have a habit of doing that actually.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_04: Um Unfortunately.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_10: Well, yeah.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_10: I mean, guitar players in Chicago are like the drummers in spinal tap.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_10: They just keep disappearing, you know.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I do.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_04: Um okay, so that's it.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_04: That is the album of the week, Chicago 21.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_04: Um, and I did want to mention something that uh I'm considering doing, and you I know you saw my post.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_04: Um and I'm only doing this because I'm not getting any younger, and I think it's a cool idea.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_04: Uh, and I've already had a few people reach out to me.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_04: Um, let me tell you the idea first.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_04: So you've heard of the Bluebird Cafe?
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_04: In Nashville.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_04: The way the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville works is well, a couple of different things.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_04: Um on a on they have a Sunday uh amateur writers' night, and you can audition uh at the beginning uh during the week.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_04: They have they hold auditions and songwriters from all over Nashville, young and old, want to want to play on a Sunday night.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_04: And so they'll audition.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_04: Uh I think if there's one or two nights a week that they hold auditions, and then they pick people to come and and play their songs on on a Sunday night.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_04: That's one aspect.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_04: The other aspect is the Bluebird always has these what they call guitar pulls or or song pulls, and you'll have these um hit songwriters, not always hit songwriters, sometimes they're amateur songwriters, but they don't have more than three or four of them at one time, and they kind of sit in a circle, and they'll play one of their songs on an acoustic guitar or a keyboard, and then the next songwriter will play one of their songs, and then the next songwriter will play one of their th songs, and they just go around and they play, you know, depending on how how long the the show is, right?
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_04: They play three or four songs of their own.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_04: Um, and maybe they'll do cover songs, you know, whatever.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_04: And they have an audience there, and you can get food and and all this stuff, and it's an evening of entertainment, and it's so my idea because the Rootsett County is not known for songwriters.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_04: Or i i i it I mean, if there are any out there, and I know there are, there's no place to showcase that.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_10: No.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_10: There's no place for original music.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_04: No, no.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_04: I mean, we we do one every once in a while when we play live.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_04: We'll throw in a couple of our own in uh because nobody listens to us anyway.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_04: Um I'm well aware.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_04: So uh my idea was to have something like that and to start it off slow, like start it off with just getting a few writers together in one room, no audience, yeah, just a few writers, and kind of do that.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_04: Kind of play three or four songs of our own.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_04: Uh maybe it lasts an hour, hour and a half, two hours, whatever.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_04: And do that a couple months.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_04: And depending on where we get together, like if we had a venue, if we had to rent a room, each songwriter would put in some money to rent the room.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_04: Uh just to defray the cost.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_04: Um and then we would find a venue and we could have a writer's night with three or four writers, advertise it, invite the public, um charge a small admission fee, uh, and w w after the haul after the venue is paid for, um, then the rest of the money would go to an agreed upon um charity for that m that month.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_04: And maybe we could do it once a month at a at whatever venue.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_04: And um I think it would be cool because I I think in my post it says it'll do a couple of things.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_04: It will encourage songwriters to keep writing so that they always have something new to play to showcase and honing their craft.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_04: I'm maybe I'm being selfish here, but I'm talking about myself too.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_04: Um it would give I mean, there's not a lot to do around here.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_04: What?
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_04: You're silly.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_04: So it would be an hour to two hours worth of entertainment um for people that like that kind of thing.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_04: Um date night, whatever.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_04: Um, and it would potentially help a local charity.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_04: So I think it's a win-win-win.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_04: Um and I've already had uh two venues reach out to me.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_04: They saw the post.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_04: So I have uh for the first two months, you know how I said it was just gonna be the couple writers or three or four writers.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_04: Um I've had a uh someone who has a room um say, I'll charge you five bucks, each writer five bucks.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_04: And uh you can use it, you know, until you get ramped up.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_04: Then I had a venue reach out to me.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_04: I love this idea, they said.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_04: Um uh we would love to have it here.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_04: And I said, Well, how much does it cost to rent?
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_04: And they said, We can we can work it out so that it falls in line with your post.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_04: Which I said in my post, I was like, each writer, if there's four writers, twenty-five bucks each.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_04: You know, so but she says we can be creative.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_04: So that's exciting.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_04: Um the next step is to get some writers because you know, obviously I'll be there.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_04: Um I would hope that you would kind of participate in some fashion.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_04: Whatever.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_04: I don't want I don't want any part of your stupid idea.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_04: Oh, speaking of uh you and writing, I did find I did find Story in my head.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_11: Oh, wow.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_04: On a cassette somewhere.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_10: Holy crap.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_04: Uh there's a song I haven't done long enough.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_04: Where was I listening?
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_04: Where was I listening to that?
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_04: Oh, uh we found a Walkman.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_04: Oh, jeez.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_04: A cassette Walkman.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_04: And I put I put a cassette in, I was like, this is Doug's song.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_04: Um but I need some writers to reach out to me.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_04: So to reach out to me and have three or four songs that they could play of their own.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_04: Um I don't care how long.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_04: I don't care what what you know what style.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_04: I mean, uh ideally it's gonna be something you could play on an acoustic guitar or on a piano.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_04: Um and if I can get this going, I'd like to I'd like to have it pretty regularly, at least through because it's summer is hard.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_04: Well, I was about to say don't start it in summer, don't you?
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_04: No, no, it's a good thing.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_04: And I've already even the lady from that reached out from the venue, um, she said we ramp up in the fall because yeah, everybody's gone during the summer.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_04: Which I get.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_04: And I wasn't planning on doing it right away anyway.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_04: I just think it's a cool idea.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_04: And I think we can we can um serve a lot of different purposes doing it.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_04: So I don't know what to call it.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_04: Um like county song show song showcase or that's that's too official.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_09: We need it, we need a cool you need a cool name.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it'll come to you.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_04: Speaking of cool names, have you thought about our name?
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_04: What we're gonna do at all?
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_04: Maybe we should put this out there.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_04: I don't want to change our name though, because and I told my wife about this, and my wife is a marketing genius.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_04: And she's like, because I said, if we if we came up with a new name, we'd just confuse people.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_04: She said, Yes, you would.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_10: No, she's right.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_04: So uh we either keep using Comic Crossing Duo when we say I don't like it.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_04: I don't either.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_04: A it's too long.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_04: And and we had established I mean, there's more words than people in the bank.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_04: We had established not officially, and hopefully Shane will not reach out to us and say, What the heck are you talking about?
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_04: Comet Crossing hasn't played in a number of years.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_04: Couple years anyway.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_04: I don't foresee us playing anytime in the the near future.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_10: Nobody's nobody's reaching out for us.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_10: Nope.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_10: So um nobody's asking for us.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_04: And Shane's busy.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_04: Shane's, you know.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm sure Shane will come up if we asked him to.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_04: He's already.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_04: But but we're not itching to get out get that three-piece out there uh anytime soon.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_10: If we do something original, if we do an album, well yeah, so I don't want to which we have plenty of material for.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_10: Yeah, we do.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_04: I don't want to I don't want to put the kibosh on Comic Crossing.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_10: But Well I want to go back to what it originally was, was just us doing our songs.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_10: You know.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_10: That's what I want to come across.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_10: Same.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_10: Same.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_10: Instead of being the bar band and going out and playing covers, yes, play original stuff.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_02: I agree.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_10: That's what I want it to be.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_04: But I think using Comic Crossing duo is confusing.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_04: Um, especially when the venues sometimes you know, they advertise for us, they say Comet Crossing is playing.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_03: No, no, we're not.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_04: It's just the two of us.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_04: Um there was an option to use the name of this podcast, O'Brien and Doug.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_04: Um, which has its benefits, I guess.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_04: Um so I don't know what the answer is.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_04: I don't want to come up with a new name.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_04: OBD.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_04: OBD.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_09: That's what OB.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_09: O'Brien and Doug.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_09: OBD.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_09: OBD.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_09: OBD.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_09: OBD, O B I think.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_04: Again, that's confusing though, because you know who who are they?
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_04: So I don't know.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_10: Well, it'll be a good it'd be a good fresh start.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_10: It's like we entered witness protection program.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_10: Oh, that's why we should call ourselves witness protection program.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_10: You never know who's gonna be playing.
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_19: You're done with WPP.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_10: WPP, you know me.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_11: Actually, you don't, you don't know me.
- 1:15:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, be witless protection.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_04: Witless protection witless protection.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, okay, so maybe we'll put that out there.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_04: We can do dare to be stupid.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_04: Put that out there.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_04: Maybe we get some suggestions.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_04: So Doug and I do an acoustic uh thing, the two of us.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_04: Uh there's harmonies.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_04: Um Doug plays plays a uh cajon.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_04: I play a box.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_04: Um I play guitar.
- 1:16:27SPEAKER_04: We do uh everything from 70s folk, 80s pop, uh we do 90s rock.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_04: We do hip hop.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_04: We do do hip hop.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_04: Ska.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_04: We do?
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_04: No, I don't think we I was like, what ska song do we do?
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_04: I wouldn't put it past us.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_04: That's the that's the thing.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_04: So, you know, I don't know.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_04: If if you have suggestions what what to name our little acoustic duo, uh lad.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_04: Little acoustic duo.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_04: There we go.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_04: Um Laddie.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_04: How you doing, Laddie?
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_04: We could do something Irish, though.
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:17:08SPEAKER_04: If you have any suggestions, um leave a comment on our Facebook page or send us a message.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_10: Our best stuff comes when we don't think about it.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_10: Exactly.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_10: So I'm gonna stop thinking about it right now.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_10: Gorilla tape.
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_10: Nah, I just saw gorilla tape.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_04: Probably trademark infringement infringement, but okay.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_09: Monkey tape.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_09: Monkey shine.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_03: Monkey junk?
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_09: No, that's already done.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_09: Uh Gorilla Tape.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_09: Gorilla.
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_09: Gorilla.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_09: Gorilla.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_09: Gorilla Tapioca.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_04: That reminds me of who whose line is it anyway.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_08: Tapio! Tapiooka.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_08: Oh, I miss that.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_08: Me too.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_04: Well, we're gonna end it there.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_04: We'll uh we'll put our heads together and probably our knees, and we'll uh we'll figure it all out.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_10: Well, we'll come up with something.
- 1:18:08SPEAKER_10: It'll just hit us.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_10: Out of the blue.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_09: Hey, that's a great name.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_04: We gotta do that for the name of this podcast, actually.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_04: What?
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_04: What to title this episode?
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's easy.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_04: What?
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_11: Done! Alright.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_11: I know the name.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_11: Video Doug is a jerk! I hate you!
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_08: You good-looking jerk.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_08: Alright.

- 1:18:40SPEAKER_08: What?
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_08: Video Doug is a jerk.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I go with that.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_04: Alright, that's episode 202.
