- 5:45Speaker 7: I do go about a little bay, you know, saying
- 5:47Speaker 7: the baby's name, give it to me by by, by
- 5:50Speaker 7: my family, by my mom. So you know there's something
- 5:52Speaker 7: that I embraced, you know what I'm saying. So, Yah,
- 5:55Speaker 7: you know I'm here with child today. I'm just here
- 5:58Speaker 7: to talk about a new by myself in about the book.
- 6:03Speaker 2: So who is before the actor Nathan who was.
- 6:10Speaker 7: Well they dany you wasn't as a young man now
- 6:16Speaker 7: knowing seeing the grown man now you know I was
- 6:19Speaker 7: going and raised in Houston.
- 6:20Speaker 8: You know what I'm saying.
- 6:22Speaker 7: Uh, I was going and raised by my mom, he
- 6:26Speaker 7: and my father. You know it was listened to having
- 6:28Speaker 7: my father in the household. One thing he did instilled
- 6:31Speaker 7: in me was education. You know then then was school.
- 6:36Speaker 8: Damn allowed me to shuck cut in academics.
- 6:38Speaker 7: So you know a lot of my elementary years, school years,
- 6:42Speaker 7: you know, I was an un the road student.
- 6:44Speaker 8: You know what I'm seeing. I was actidated. I ain't
- 6:46Speaker 8: going to sports.
- 6:48Speaker 7: Uh, you know, I just had a curiosity about life
- 6:52Speaker 7: about you know what I'm saying.
- 6:54Speaker 8: So it's really you know the foundation and how I
- 6:57Speaker 8: came up.
- 6:58Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying, It just and quick in
- 7:01Speaker 7: the mind and just continue to wanted to know more
- 7:04Speaker 7: about life.
- 7:06Speaker 2: So what got you interested in becoming an author?
- 7:12Speaker 8: All? What got me interested in who coming the author?
- 7:15Speaker 8: Was doing? Incarceration?
- 7:17Speaker 7: You know, I feel like I didn't how can.
- 7:21Speaker 8: I be productive?
- 7:21Speaker 7: How can I be producting in the situations? Well it's
- 7:24Speaker 7: not beneficial for me but my family, So you know,
- 7:29Speaker 7: I just continue to I felt like I had a
- 7:32Speaker 7: story to tell, like from my size or experience in
- 7:35Speaker 7: the streets in the neighborhood. It was everything that I
- 7:39Speaker 7: came up in the culture, how I came up.
- 7:42Speaker 8: You know, I saw a lot of different artists right
- 7:44Speaker 8: about this, So I was like, why not me? Why
- 7:47Speaker 8: not share this.
- 7:48Speaker 7: Story the more important, this different type of things that
- 7:51Speaker 7: I came to learn.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So, without sharing too much about the.
- 7:58Speaker 9: Book, could you give us an overview of what the
- 8:04Speaker 9: readers can expect when they grabbed this book.
- 8:07Speaker 8: Okay, So this book right here, standing on business, standing
- 8:12Speaker 8: on business.
- 8:13Speaker 7: The over rude and the concept about the book is about,
- 8:18Speaker 7: you know, the coach of people standing on their word.
- 8:20Speaker 7: The people it's on. It's on the crucible, people honor
- 8:25Speaker 7: what they seeing. You know that one trait that I
- 8:27Speaker 7: like that I say, it's strong in myself and that's
- 8:31Speaker 7: what I like in others.
- 8:32Speaker 8: You know what I'm saying.
- 8:32Speaker 7: I like people to be be direct, definitely say it's
- 8:38Speaker 7: consensily build upon it. In the book, it's about the
- 8:42Speaker 7: story about a young man. You know, he got the trade.
- 8:45Speaker 7: It's not even social. You know, he came up in
- 8:48Speaker 7: the streets and field board and music and uh, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 7: no matter what he did, he was he stood from
- 8:54Speaker 7: this world, you know what I'm saying. So the book
- 8:57Speaker 7: more precise more precisely is about film pursuing a music career.
- 9:02Speaker 8: He got a lot of talents and very gifted, you know,
- 9:05Speaker 8: I take it through the stories of it, on how
- 9:07Speaker 8: you all this music.
- 9:09Speaker 7: On how you get signed, and just struggles and obstacles
- 9:13Speaker 7: that he's based by going.
- 9:14Speaker 8: Up you know in music.
- 9:19Speaker 9: Wow, So I can gather that this book is based
- 9:25Speaker 9: on your life.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And some of the things that you experienced.
- 9:30Speaker 7: Well, this book is based out it's very fixed, you
- 9:35Speaker 7: know what I'm saying. So it's very in a novel mode. Yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 7: I want to say, like, it's more about what I experienced,
- 9:44Speaker 7: like even from others. I want to say, it's practice.
- 9:47Speaker 7: It's not personally about me, but maybe it might have
- 9:50Speaker 7: been somebody who came over before me in the streets,
- 9:53Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying, or in my neighborhood, and
- 9:56Speaker 7: it's traits that.
- 9:57Speaker 8: I admired in them or something that I have seen,
- 9:59Speaker 8: you know, you know what I'm saying.
- 10:01Speaker 7: So I choose to share share some concepts in this
- 10:05Speaker 7: book and the nature that such with. Now I try
- 10:10Speaker 7: to leave myself out like the input of the characters.
- 10:14Speaker 8: You don't I'm trying to. I intended to call a
- 10:18Speaker 8: real fishing without not too much based off my life.
- 10:21Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying, but experiences that people can
- 10:25Speaker 9: relate to, right, but giving them that even though they're
- 10:29Speaker 9: not real. Real characters are people that we may be
- 10:33Speaker 9: able that we actually know. But these experiences could be
- 10:37Speaker 9: experiences that we have seen or people that we know
- 10:41Speaker 9: have experienced them. I know, for me, when I write,
- 10:47Speaker 9: even though sometimes I don't, I do a lot of inspirationals.
- 10:51Speaker 9: But I do have some some urban litbooks. And with
- 10:55Speaker 9: those urban lit books, they were experiences. I share the
- 11:00Speaker 9: lot of things that I saw and observed when I
- 11:03Speaker 9: was in college that other people may not even be
- 11:08Speaker 9: able to experience because they didn't go to college. So
- 11:12Speaker 9: I took that experience and try to share it, but
- 11:16Speaker 9: try to give it life through the characters that people
- 11:20Speaker 9: can relate to. That that's that's what I did with
- 11:25Speaker 9: my not with my urban book. But I know everybody
- 11:28Speaker 9: have their own unique way. So what what are some
- 11:32Speaker 9: things that that drive you, that that push you, that
- 11:37Speaker 9: that that that makes you want to write? Like do
- 11:40Speaker 9: you do you just sit down and say, Okay, I'm
- 11:42Speaker 9: gonna write about this or is it just something come
- 11:45Speaker 9: up and you just have your notepad and you just
- 11:47Speaker 9: begin to write. How are you inspired to produce your work?
- 11:53Speaker 7: Uh? You know, sometimes like you said, just like sometimes
- 11:57Speaker 7: if I feel really strong about it and if I
- 12:02Speaker 7: find it very interesting, and I might be like, you
- 12:04Speaker 7: know what, I think I want to write about this,
- 12:07Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying. So it's something that I
- 12:09Speaker 7: find very interesting.
- 12:12Speaker 8: Then you know.
- 12:13Speaker 7: I jotted down in my notebook it's something to be like.
- 12:18Speaker 7: You know, it's started as an ideal, but you know
- 12:21Speaker 7: sometimes like outside of that, you know, I'm just inspired
- 12:25Speaker 7: just to write because you know, in my environment, my
- 12:29Speaker 7: coaches that I came in me it's you know, I
- 12:32Speaker 7: love it so much that I try to play a
- 12:35Speaker 7: part on make shop and make sure it's fold.
- 12:38Speaker 8: You know what I'm saying, Like it's just sposed us
- 12:40Speaker 8: done and to be like shruck from the rug and
- 12:44Speaker 8: the greatest scheme of like you know what I'm saying.
- 12:46Speaker 7: I read a preferre it through through books, through novels,
- 12:49Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying, So generation generation after us
- 12:53Speaker 7: can have an idea of how we live and hot.
- 12:56Speaker 9: Thames or you know what I'm saying, right right, Oh,
- 13:03Speaker 9: since you have wrote this first book, how has the
- 13:08Speaker 9: support then.
- 13:12Speaker 8: I have to support being Yes, been phenomenal.
- 13:17Speaker 7: You know, I got a lot of dreamings, I got
- 13:18Speaker 7: a lot of like people that I that I know
- 13:22Speaker 7: that I encounter in different walks of life, and they
- 13:24Speaker 7: all been too for me. You know, it's like a
- 13:28Speaker 7: sign of inspiration, you know what I'm saying. It's like
- 13:31Speaker 7: it's like a sign of giving on giving them hope,
- 13:34Speaker 7: you know.
- 13:34Speaker 8: What I'm saying. On like, hey man, things can be
- 13:37Speaker 8: done if we put our mind to it. If they
- 13:39Speaker 8: see me do it, you know what I'm saying that.
- 13:42Speaker 7: Whatever, if they hold people, then you know what I'm saying.
- 13:45Speaker 7: What it's a real choice, But it's is a choice.
- 13:48Speaker 6: You know.
- 13:48Speaker 8: I probably inspire them that they can do it.
- 13:50Speaker 7: But at the end of the day, support has been
- 13:54Speaker 7: been you know emactually.
- 13:56Speaker 8: It's been real received and I've been working for.
- 13:58Speaker 7: It, you know.
- 14:02Speaker 2: So I know, I know you have a daughter. How
- 14:06Speaker 2: have your Your daughter's proud of her daddy.
- 14:10Speaker 8: Yes, you proud of me?
- 14:13Speaker 7: I think I think for Hu. You know, it's big
- 14:19Speaker 7: of the deal for her than me that I done it.
- 14:21Speaker 8: You know what I'm saying.
- 14:22Speaker 7: I guess I guess it kind of sit like the
- 14:25Speaker 7: Browns that hate you can do certain thing on limits yourself,
- 14:29Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying, Believe me yourself, go Google,
- 14:32Speaker 7: you know.
- 14:32Speaker 8: And some.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Because I know a lot of people.
- 14:37Speaker 9: Sometime when we're in situations, we sometimes allow our situations
- 14:42Speaker 9: to keep us from you know, chasing after our dreams.
- 14:46Speaker 1: You know.
- 14:47Speaker 2: And and I'll be.
- 14:48Speaker 9: The first to talk about me because there was a
- 14:52Speaker 9: time when I was struggling, when I wanted to.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Give up on life, and it was because of books.
- 15:00Speaker 9: And some children that I was working with that gave
- 15:03Speaker 9: me that self, that that that second win. You know,
- 15:07Speaker 9: when I was working with those kids and I was
- 15:09Speaker 9: looking at those kids and they didn't want to read,
- 15:11Speaker 9: Like I was like, why God, baby's not reading? And
- 15:14Speaker 9: it brought me to social media and I was able
- 15:17Speaker 9: to explore and meet a lot of authors, and I
- 15:21Speaker 9: got an opportunity to write in my first anthologies.
- 15:24Speaker 2: This was in twenty sixteen.
- 15:26Speaker 9: I got a chance to write in my first anthology
- 15:29Speaker 9: and it was so relieving and it was so like
- 15:35Speaker 9: never thinking that I would be an author, because you know,
- 15:37Speaker 9: you don't hear about coming up from where I come from.
- 15:42Speaker 9: You don't hear a lot of black authors. We all
- 15:45Speaker 9: we saw was a lot of white authors coming up.
- 15:48Speaker 9: You know, then go into library and there was a
- 15:51Speaker 9: section of black authors. And now more we are seeing
- 15:54Speaker 9: more and more, but coming up, we didn't see that.
- 15:58Speaker 9: And the fact that you know, I was able to
- 16:02Speaker 9: walk into that, and now I can say I have
- 16:04Speaker 9: over one hundred and eighty literary works floating around these worlds,
- 16:12Speaker 9: around this world, like Amazon, Barnes, and Noble, you name it.
- 16:17Speaker 9: It's out there. And the fact that I can pour
- 16:19Speaker 9: into other people and let other people know that it's possible,
- 16:24Speaker 9: you know, and a lot of people want to know, Oh,
- 16:27Speaker 9: it's got to be perfect, it's got to be this,
- 16:29Speaker 9: it's got to be that.
- 16:30Speaker 2: So when you begin to write, what was this journey like?
- 16:34Speaker 9: Because I'm gonna tell you the first couple of books
- 16:36Speaker 9: I wrote, they wouldn't they wasn't the best. I mean,
- 16:40Speaker 9: they had some and when I look back over my books,
- 16:43Speaker 9: there was some errors. There was some some periods, I missed,
- 16:47Speaker 9: some some question marks. I missed some little things that
- 16:51Speaker 9: I could have done better. And you know, every time
- 16:53Speaker 9: I put out a piece, I try to improve. Every
- 16:58Speaker 9: every time I put out something, I try to improve
- 17:00Speaker 9: on it. And I can tell you now I'm starting
- 17:04Speaker 9: to think that I have I've got something and I've
- 17:07Speaker 9: mastered something, like I can put them out like this
- 17:10Speaker 9: now and it is just amazing.
- 17:13Speaker 2: So what has your journey been.
- 17:15Speaker 7: Like, Uh, my journey writing really, you know, has came
- 17:21Speaker 7: through I have read so many books I read. I
- 17:26Speaker 7: read a lot of novels. I read a lot of
- 17:27Speaker 7: knowledge based knowledge the based books. But one thing about
- 17:31Speaker 7: when I first started right reading early novels, I paid attention.
- 17:35Speaker 8: To the pattern. I paid attention to my story.
- 17:39Speaker 7: I'm old, and I paid attention on how the author
- 17:43Speaker 7: is spress this express itself, du cas, how you made
- 17:46Speaker 7: the personality of these characters and that, you know what
- 17:49Speaker 7: I'm saying. So and then you know, I took I
- 17:54Speaker 7: watched a few videos on our tables, you know, and
- 17:57Speaker 7: paid attention on what certain state have as authors, like oh,
- 18:02Speaker 7: what's this god name?
- 18:04Speaker 8: I can't belave me no author name right now, but
- 18:06Speaker 8: he got a bunch of books.
- 18:07Speaker 7: But he proke on like, listen, man, what you got
- 18:09Speaker 7: to do is have your your characters.
- 18:15Speaker 8: They got to be able to be related. People got
- 18:17Speaker 8: to be them, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:20Speaker 7: So it's basicalize basically personal lives, your personal lives or
- 18:25Speaker 7: the characters of the book, and least try to have
- 18:28Speaker 7: the story personally lives well you know what I'm saying
- 18:31Speaker 7: or something. So that's my method, the most important. You know,
- 18:37Speaker 7: I had trained my mind to pay attention to different
- 18:39Speaker 7: patterns on how books our books, and I kind of
- 18:43Speaker 7: self taught myself there.
- 18:44Speaker 8: You know, I ain't going to school or I just
- 18:47Speaker 8: taught myself. You know what I'm saying with so I
- 18:51Speaker 8: can see this listen? You know?
- 18:55Speaker 2: So will there be a book number two to this book?
- 18:59Speaker 9: Or are you you just working on this is gonna
- 19:02Speaker 9: be a standalone and you're working on something else.
- 19:05Speaker 8: Book number two is currently underworkers.
- 19:08Speaker 7: I'm like halfway dom, halfways do book number two? You
- 19:12Speaker 7: know I might have it. It's gonna be a series.
- 19:15Speaker 7: I know it's gonna go at least three. I'm going
- 19:18Speaker 7: at least three. Well, who knows, I might, I might
- 19:20Speaker 7: take it further.
- 19:22Speaker 8: It ends. I don't. I don't have a storyline.
- 19:26Speaker 7: Fast book three, But who knows?
- 19:30Speaker 8: If I keep writing?
- 19:31Speaker 2: You know, will we see some new characters? Shoot?
- 19:36Speaker 8: Should?
- 19:36Speaker 7: It's gonna be some characters in book two? You know
- 19:39Speaker 7: it's a fret. It's a free new characters. You know
- 19:42Speaker 7: what I'm saying. So I'm excited about that, you know
- 19:46Speaker 7: what I'm saying, quoting for new characters, getting and breaking
- 19:49Speaker 7: with the ones who already.
- 19:50Speaker 8: Been yeah in the old book. So that's pretty cool, right.
- 19:56Speaker 9: So one of the hosts that's on this network, she
- 20:01Speaker 9: she does a lot of interviews with authors, and one
- 20:04Speaker 9: of the things that she does is she asked the authors,
- 20:08Speaker 9: if your book could be a movie.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Who would play your main characters?
- 20:16Speaker 8: M hmm, In my book would be a movie, who
- 20:18Speaker 8: played the main characters? Uh?
- 20:23Speaker 7: I'd say, I won't mind if Nick Cannon can play the.
- 20:27Speaker 8: Main character in the book, you know. And I say
- 20:30Speaker 8: that because Nick Nick Cannon is familiar with entertainment. In
- 20:37Speaker 8: his book is dealing with music, you.
- 20:40Speaker 7: Know what I'm saying, So he'll know how to rock
- 20:43Speaker 7: with the sona of this person who is.
- 20:45Speaker 8: The main character, you know what I'm saying. So I
- 20:49Speaker 8: feel like Nick Kennon would be a good, good option,
- 20:51Speaker 8: you know.
- 20:52Speaker 1: What I'm saying.
- 20:54Speaker 9: And if you had to put a soundtrack to this,
- 21:00Speaker 9: to this book, who would be an artist that you
- 21:06Speaker 9: would use to write this soundtrack?
- 21:10Speaker 8: All right?
- 21:11Speaker 7: Now?
- 21:12Speaker 8: I'm probably you your follow the sound.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Track, all right? All right?
- 21:24Speaker 2: And if.
- 21:28Speaker 1: If you had to.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Off a character, who would it be?
- 21:36Speaker 8: If I would had to offer characters. Yeah, well, you
- 21:39Speaker 8: know what the thing about it, it's some characters get off.
- 21:45Speaker 9: Oh so now we gotta wait, we gotta wait, we
- 21:47Speaker 9: gotta wait. We can't tell, we gotta wait, we gotta wait.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Wait.
- 21:51Speaker 2: See now, y'all see, y'all gotta stay tuned.

- 22:37Speaker 9: and see what you're going to be working on, what
- 22:40Speaker 9: you're doing, even if they just want to talk about
- 22:43Speaker 9: some of the characters, Because I know a lot of
- 22:46Speaker 9: these readers, they get personal when it comes to these
- 22:50Speaker 9: books and the look. They be wanting to stay connected.
- 22:54Speaker 9: They be wanting to stay connected. So how can we
- 22:57Speaker 9: stay connected with you?
- 22:59Speaker 7: Well, one one one avenue that you know, reading, stay
- 23:05Speaker 7: connectives moving social media. So I got Facebook and I
- 23:08Speaker 7: got Instagram.
- 23:09Speaker 8: You know, my.
- 23:10Speaker 7: Facebook is spelled out feel like L I, L T
- 23:15Speaker 7: H ward W A R D.
- 23:20Speaker 8: My last last name like B A Y. You know
- 23:23Speaker 8: what I'm saying.
- 23:23Speaker 7: So that's one way people can't stay connected and talk
- 23:27Speaker 7: about you.
- 23:28Speaker 8: Know what I'm saying, although the book related that they
- 23:31Speaker 8: want any questions, you know what I'm saying.
- 23:34Speaker 7: Anybody acquired by anything you can be And I have
- 23:37Speaker 7: an Instagram, My Instagram it's it's the number two, the
- 23:42Speaker 7: alphabet C.
- 23:44Speaker 8: And alphget.
- 23:46Speaker 7: It's like same day underscore no like L I L
- 23:52Speaker 7: B A Y.
- 23:53Speaker 8: So you know that's the start, you know. And I
- 23:59Speaker 8: have a TV. Hell it's standing on business by you something.
- 24:02Speaker 7: But most important, social media will be sufficient, you know
- 24:06Speaker 7: the right.
- 24:07Speaker 8: So that'll be a pretty live avenue.
- 24:12Speaker 2: So for those that may have.
- 24:17Speaker 9: The desire to write or think they have a book,
- 24:21Speaker 9: what is something that you could lead with them that
- 24:24Speaker 9: can encourage them to go ahead and and write that
- 24:26Speaker 9: book and get it out there.
- 24:28Speaker 7: Something I would leave with someone who's thanking them boy
- 24:31Speaker 7: writing the book. You know, believe in yourself. Most employedt
- 24:35Speaker 7: know that you can achieve and do anything you want to.
- 24:37Speaker 7: That's that's that's one of the most key meedings that's
- 24:41Speaker 7: needed before the idea of a book that started, you know,
- 24:45Speaker 7: and then from them, you know, just sit back and
- 24:49Speaker 7: visual lives of story. Gitalize the story playing in your mind.
- 24:55Speaker 7: Visualize the story kind of front, the beginning to the ending.
- 25:00Speaker 7: And as you start writing, you know, you got to
- 25:03Speaker 7: feel a up the courts.
- 25:05Speaker 8: In between that you want to see.
- 25:06Speaker 7: You got to make an interest, you got to add
- 25:09Speaker 7: gave you the whole people. So you know, those a
- 25:12Speaker 7: few ingredients that I will getting somebody in right.

- 25:22Speaker 9: by and sharing with us, giving us a little insight
- 25:27Speaker 9: about yourself and about your book and what you got

- 25:33Speaker 9: you an opportunity to give out any shout outs that
- 25:37Speaker 9: you want to give out.
- 25:39Speaker 7: Time to do that, Okay, So first and foremost, I
- 25:45Speaker 7: started not getting shout out to you know, my grave.

- 27:30Speaker 9: You never know what the next person may be standing
- 27:32Speaker 9: in need of, and you never know what your story
- 27:35Speaker 9: can do for that person that may be in need.
- 27:38Speaker 9: Because I know that there are people in the same
- 27:41Speaker 9: situation as you that have a book idea, that that
