Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: Hello, everybody, Welcome to What do you want to talk about?
- 0:08Speaker 1: A Fanatics and WWE original production. We are approaching WrestleMania
- 0:14Speaker 1: and we have the guest of all guests, ladies and gentlemen,
- 0:18Speaker 1: the cerebral Assassin the Game, the King of Kings, Hall
- 0:22Speaker 1: of Famer, WW Champion, World Champion, European Champion, Intercontinental Champion
- 0:27Speaker 1: also nineteen eighty eight, mister teenage, New Hampshire at that
- 0:33Speaker 1: and the Chief Creative Content Officer.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Yeah, one of those.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Yeah, ballpark, ballpark. That's it. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome
- 0:43Speaker 3: to what do you want to talk about? Triple H Home.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I will start by stating that we have wanted you
- 0:55Speaker 1: on the show probably since the beginning of the show,
- 0:58Speaker 1: and you are incredible busy as you're running all of
- 1:02Speaker 1: this and doing all of this. So my producer off
- 1:06Speaker 1: camera will say to me, I think we got them,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and I will send a text that is an image
- 1:12Speaker 1: I found on a Google search of a pig with wings.
- 1:16Speaker 3: So I'm pretty excited. I'm just making you wait.
- 1:18Speaker 2: So it seems valuable when you do it with me. Well,
- 1:20Speaker 2: I mean supply and demand thing, you know.
- 1:23Speaker 3: That's that classic pro wrestler.
- 1:26Speaker 1: You make them wait exactly, But what better time than
- 1:31Speaker 1: as we approach WrestleMania.
- 1:33Speaker 2: It feels like the right time things happened for a reason, right.
- 1:35Speaker 3: WRESTLEMANI forty two Las Vegas? Did I get it?
- 1:39Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:39Speaker 3: In nineteen eighty eight? Mister teenage New Hampshire?
- 1:42Speaker 2: I think, I think so. I don't you know, I'm
- 1:45Speaker 2: like the worst person with dates. You will see this
- 1:47Speaker 2: over and over. Yes we do this, and you'll bring
- 1:49Speaker 2: up events and times. No clue when they happened or anything.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I remember them for the most part, but what year
- 1:57Speaker 2: they happened or the only thing I know about that time,
- 2:00Speaker 2: Like during that as I was nineteen, I just remember
- 2:03Speaker 2: it was my last year of being able to compete
- 2:06Speaker 2: in the teen division, Right, I got it and do something.
- 2:10Speaker 2: And you know, contrary to what a lot of people
- 2:12Speaker 2: believe at that point in time, you know a lot
- 2:15Speaker 2: of people will say, ah, he's a bodybuilder that I
- 2:17Speaker 2: got into wrestling. I wasn't. I was a kid that
- 2:20Speaker 2: was going to the gym with the sole goal of
- 2:22Speaker 2: becoming a pro wrestler. Somewhere in my mind I fell
- 2:25Speaker 2: in love with the training aspect of competitive the competitive
- 2:29Speaker 2: aspect of it. Bodybuilding was just something to do for motivation,
- 2:32Speaker 2: to keep you wanting to get to that next level
- 2:35Speaker 2: and always improve training wise. It was fun thing to
- 2:38Speaker 2: do at the time. I enjoyed doing it, but it
- 2:40Speaker 2: was never a It was never like a career thought
- 2:43Speaker 2: or anything else. For sure, I wouldn't have been very
- 2:45Speaker 2: good at it.
- 2:46Speaker 3: You because you were. Of course.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I opened this up by mentioning teenage New Hampshire and bodybuilding,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and this is something that's been brought up on the show.
- 2:55Speaker 1: This is not the first question I thought I would ask,
- 2:57Speaker 1: But I'm actually curious as your take. Wrestling has gone
- 3:01Speaker 1: through stages where seventies, eighties it's all shapes and sizes,
- 3:07Speaker 1: it's everything, and then it's you know, the golden eighties
- 3:11Speaker 1: and the nineties where the physique was very principal, very important.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Do you weigh in where do you feel in twenty
- 3:20Speaker 1: twenty six going into twenty twenty seven, is it as
- 3:23Speaker 1: is it as important as it was?
- 3:25Speaker 3: The physique, the presence, the body.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I feel like it's mixed depending on who you are
- 3:34Speaker 2: as a performer and what you're bringing to the table. Yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 2: so you know, I don't know, would Brock Lesnar be
- 3:41Speaker 2: as frightening if he wasn't if he didn't look like
- 3:44Speaker 2: brock Lesner. Sure, but I don't think you have to
- 3:48Speaker 2: have it. I don't think it has to be. I'm
- 3:51Speaker 2: a bigger believer in the variety of things. Somebody doesn't
- 3:56Speaker 2: have to be. There needs to be some semblance of
- 3:59Speaker 2: believable to what we do, right. But I don't think
- 4:03Speaker 2: that means you have to be a bodybuilder. I don't
- 4:06Speaker 2: think it means you have to be you know, lean
- 4:10Speaker 2: where you can see your abs or But I think
- 4:13Speaker 2: that works for some folks. I think that there's also
- 4:16Speaker 2: room for the Gunthers. I'd love to see the Kamala
- 4:22Speaker 2: shape and size. I'd love to see I don't know,
- 4:25Speaker 2: there's something for everybody across what we do, and I
- 4:30Speaker 2: don't know, you know, I talk about history a lot
- 4:34Speaker 2: because we're both history buffs and the business and stuff.
- 4:36Speaker 2: But a duel with the Butcher Kamala people like that
- 4:40Speaker 2: were just as frightening to me as anybody else, as
- 4:42Speaker 2: the road Warriors were or anybody else that was jacked
- 4:46Speaker 2: up and at a different level. Right. So I'm a
- 4:49Speaker 2: big believer in variety sort of makes everything better. So
- 4:56Speaker 2: when you get fed one thing for a while, After
- 4:58Speaker 2: a while you get tired of eating same thing, so
- 5:01Speaker 2: you want that variety.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I h this made me think of when I was
- 5:05Speaker 1: at OVW. Greg Valentine came and to speak to us, which.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Was slowly funny.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yes, because so often his advice was it almost became
- 5:16Speaker 1: a bit I remember being punk, sitting together laughing. His
- 5:19Speaker 1: advice almost always was slow slow down, Like every match
- 5:24Speaker 1: was I think he could, I think he could slow down, Like, okay,
- 5:27Speaker 1: he's gonna say slow down. There's not one person here
- 5:29Speaker 1: who's not gonna get that. But then out of nowhere,
- 5:32Speaker 1: he just went on this tangent and I never forgot it.
- 5:35Speaker 2: He asked.
- 5:35Speaker 1: He goes, you know why we work out guys, and
- 5:39Speaker 1: everyone has the wrong answer to look great to TV presentation.
- 5:43Speaker 1: He goes, no, we just need to We just need
- 5:46Speaker 1: to look like we can beat up the marks. That
- 5:48Speaker 1: was his whole take, And I thought, okay, yeah, that's fair,
- 5:53Speaker 1: like you just need the the fan to at least
- 5:56Speaker 1: be oh yeah, that that guy's intimidating. Yeah that's and
- 6:01Speaker 1: to some degree that's fairly accurate, right, Like you know,
- 6:08Speaker 1: it's it's funny.
- 6:09Speaker 2: There's a there's a moment in time when I remember
- 6:14Speaker 2: it's actually a funny story of Dan Severn, who could
- 6:18Speaker 2: kill everybody in the locker room probably right like for
- 6:20Speaker 2: the most part at that time, BA said, looked like it,
- 6:24Speaker 2: you know what I mean. He looked like a construction
- 6:27Speaker 2: guy or somebody that you might see down down the street,
- 6:30Speaker 2: and and uh, it just looked like a regular dude.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So it was tough for people to buy into the
- 6:36Speaker 2: fact that he could stretch half locker room and was
- 6:40Speaker 2: kind of letting everybody do all this stuff. But there's
- 6:43Speaker 2: a funny story once where he walked to the ring
- 6:45Speaker 2: and he had a white T shirt on. I was
- 6:47Speaker 2: that just happened to be a gorilla. I think I
- 6:49Speaker 2: made it what it was like. Next on Raw and uh,
- 6:52Speaker 2: he walks to the ring with his white T shirt
- 6:54Speaker 2: on it. It's like a sweat stains on it and stuff.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And he walks down there and the bell rings and
- 6:59Speaker 2: Vince's like, Jesus tell him to take the T shirt off.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Tells they tell a referee. Referee tells him. He goes,
- 7:05Speaker 2: takes a T shirt off. Vin sesus, he goes Jesus
- 7:10Speaker 2: tell him to go get the T shirt and put
- 7:11Speaker 2: it back on. Yeah, and you see the referee tell Dan.
- 7:15Speaker 2: He's like, well, what's happening, And he rolls out on
- 7:18Speaker 2: the floor, gets t shirt, puts it back on and
- 7:19Speaker 2: then they start the match. Yeah. I you know, there's
- 7:24Speaker 2: a lot of reasons why you train in this day
- 7:27Speaker 2: and age, Like we know a lot more about what
- 7:31Speaker 2: keeps you healthy and everything else too, right, So training
- 7:34Speaker 2: is just as much a part of your longevity in
- 7:37Speaker 2: this business as anything. So I think it's that I
- 7:41Speaker 2: think it's looking like you can beat up the marks.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I think it's just having some semblance of believability to
- 7:48Speaker 2: what you do and the role you're in. You know,
- 7:52Speaker 2: especially in my generation of stuff, you know, you needed
- 7:56Speaker 2: a cane, you needed a take or you needed in Austin,
- 8:00Speaker 2: needed a Shawn Michaels, you needed an xpot, you needed
- 8:04Speaker 2: a mc foley. You know, you wanted to have all
- 8:07Speaker 2: that variety of stuff and to make it all work
- 8:11Speaker 2: and have that variety.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I felt bad.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I apologized to you the other day because after we
- 8:17Speaker 1: had the blood bath on SmackDown, I didn't feel like
- 8:21Speaker 1: getting on a commercial plane, so I asked if I
- 8:24Speaker 1: could hop on with you, and you are always so nice,
- 8:27Speaker 1: and everyone on that plane is always nice because they
- 8:30Speaker 1: leave me the seat by you. And then I felt
- 8:32Speaker 1: bad because while everyone else slept and rested, I had
- 8:37Speaker 1: to ask you every question.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Man. I love that stuff. I love it. You know.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I don't get the opportunity very much to just sit
- 8:49Speaker 2: and bullshit wrestling, you know, not like I used to.
- 8:53Speaker 2: And usually when somebody's bullshitting wrestling, like you and I
- 8:56Speaker 2: were just bullshitting about wrestling a lot of times when
- 8:59Speaker 2: you if there's an agenda to the bullshit, if people
- 9:04Speaker 2: are talking and we're all sitting in a room talking,
- 9:06Speaker 2: there's an agenda to it or what they're trying to
- 9:08Speaker 2: get or what it is for me to sit on
- 9:10Speaker 2: a plane with you. You know, I'm still just the kid
- 9:15Speaker 2: sitting on my couch watching wrestling on a Saturday morning,
- 9:19Speaker 2: you know, Like I love this and I love every
- 9:23Speaker 2: aspect of it. So sometimes it's a job. There's a
- 9:27Speaker 2: lot of there's a lot of work to it. But
- 9:30Speaker 2: for the most part, when I have moments like that
- 9:32Speaker 2: where we can just sit and I don't know, tell
- 9:35Speaker 2: old stories and tell tell our wrestling lies and to
- 9:41Speaker 2: ourselves and all that stuffing It's just fun, man, It's fun,
- 9:44Speaker 2: and I love that stuff, and it's part of I
- 9:46Speaker 2: think what guys have. Maybe it's different now, I know
- 9:51Speaker 2: in our generation and you were there of the that
- 9:55Speaker 2: constant travel, being in the car every day, that was
- 9:57Speaker 2: daily life, and that was part of when you I
- 10:00Speaker 2: sort of got to the end or when things started
- 10:01Speaker 2: slowing down for you, that was the stuff you missed. Yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 2: you know that that camaraderie of just sitting on the
- 10:06Speaker 2: road talking wrestling and talking about the business, and you know, well, it's.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Almost more than camaraderie. I found in a sense that
- 10:14Speaker 1: every time I come up here. One of the reasons,
- 10:16Speaker 1: for example, we do the podcast here and same thing
- 10:20Speaker 1: when the bus pulls up to the arena, I turn on.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Now it's on YouTube, everything the vault. Yeah, and I
- 10:26Speaker 1: need wrestling to be on.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I need it.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I needed around me.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Yes, sometimes I'm watching and I'm having fun, but almost
- 10:34Speaker 1: always I'm watching and also picking something up. And a
- 10:38Speaker 1: prime example, we're having this conversation. I had no idea
- 10:41Speaker 1: the you know, I knew about Kowalski, and you mentioned
- 10:45Speaker 1: like Kowalski's robe that then you wore. I knew his
- 10:49Speaker 1: you know, actionable part of your career and who he was.
- 10:53Speaker 3: But I didn't know Jack Lanza. That was the thing
- 10:56Speaker 3: that I was.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I never heard other than anything other than Jack Lanza
- 11:00Speaker 1: wanted to in the show on time, and that was
- 11:03Speaker 1: a big Jack Lanza thing. Flip the tie, all right, guys,
- 11:06Speaker 1: you know, can you get it done in seven? And
- 11:08Speaker 1: you were telling me just really smart, really helpful.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I really was.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I don't know if you wanted to speak to that.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I was just really I was curious myself. I left
- 11:17Speaker 1: thinking about that.
- 11:18Speaker 2: So you know, certain people that you come in, that
- 11:22Speaker 2: are around in your period of time that sort of
- 11:26Speaker 2: you gravitate towards a gravitate towards you, or you find
- 11:31Speaker 2: their presence helpful or you know, their point of view
- 11:36Speaker 2: helpful to you. And I was, I say this all time.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I was so fortunate in that, you know, I got
- 11:45Speaker 2: to sit under the learning tree of so many people,
- 11:49Speaker 2: Vince Lanza, Pat, the smartest folks in the business, even
- 11:59Speaker 2: Chief Arenyl. Yeah, write little bits and pieces as you
- 12:02Speaker 2: took from everybody, your dad, you know, Flair, Sean and
- 12:14Speaker 2: so so many different points of view. And it was
- 12:16Speaker 2: so funny that as I came in, like when when
- 12:20Speaker 2: the click was all together, Kevin and Scott and Sean,
- 12:24Speaker 2: and you learned so many different things, but so many
- 12:27Speaker 2: of their pieces came they'd say, oh Pat taught me that.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Oh Lanza taught me that. Yeah, you know, Jack was
- 12:37Speaker 2: one of the boys, but was your boss, but was
- 12:43Speaker 2: so like, you know, one of the boys. And like
- 12:45Speaker 2: what you said, like you got you gotta go thirty
- 12:47Speaker 2: minutes tonight, you just go twenty five. You get us
- 12:50Speaker 2: out here five minutes earlier. I got something to do
- 12:52Speaker 2: in this town, right, Like you know, you just want
- 12:54Speaker 2: to get out of the building, and uh, but yet
- 12:59Speaker 2: when you came back, he was in as invested as
- 13:02Speaker 2: anybody else in the You know, that might be his
- 13:06Speaker 2: thought beforehand, but afterwards like okay, you want to get
- 13:09Speaker 2: out early, but now he'll sit with you for thirty
- 13:11Speaker 2: minutes and analyze all the stuff you did and break
- 13:13Speaker 2: it down and the whys and the house. And you
- 13:16Speaker 2: know when we were at TV, when I first got
- 13:19Speaker 2: asked to sit in on production meetings and was sort
- 13:26Speaker 2: of participating with everybody else after even if it wasn't
- 13:29Speaker 2: my stuff at all, you know, the meeting would get done.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Pat would come and find me immediately and be like, hey,
- 13:37Speaker 2: get something neat, I'll meet you up in the stands.
- 13:39Speaker 2: We'll start talking about the show. I'd get done with
- 13:42Speaker 2: Pat after a little while. Pat could talk about it
- 13:44Speaker 2: for so long, then he wanted to take a break.
- 13:46Speaker 2: You'd want to go out a smoke. Pat would leave,
- 13:48Speaker 2: I'd walk out of the stands. The lands would be waiting, Hey,
- 13:52Speaker 2: come here, let's go sit, and he'd want to talk
- 13:54Speaker 2: about that stuff. And like, man, I was just so
- 13:57Speaker 2: fortunate to sit in that, in that that learning tree. Yeah,
- 14:04Speaker 2: you know. And and again, Jack's one of those guys
- 14:07Speaker 2: that I don't think it's a lot of credit in
- 14:08Speaker 2: the business, but was a really smart, really nuanced psychology
- 14:17Speaker 2: guy work work wise that I don't think he got
- 14:21Speaker 2: credit for ever. And and even from an agent standpoint,
- 14:26Speaker 2: just if if if I was to say who was
- 14:28Speaker 2: the agent after Pat Lanza?
- 14:31Speaker 1: For sure, Lanzo, the undisputed WW Championship title is mine
- 14:38Speaker 1: and I don't plan on giving it up. Lucky for you,
- 14:40Speaker 1: you can climb the ranks and earn your very own
- 14:43Speaker 1: championship titles in WW Supercard. The New Road to Immortality
- 14:48Speaker 1: features w W I d Evolve NXT, SmackDown, and Raw.
- 14:53Speaker 1: As you challenge for titles each week, you'll gain and
- 14:56Speaker 1: lose fans depending on your performance, allowing you to advance
- 14:59Speaker 1: in WWE Superstar career. The titles up for grabs correspond
- 15:04Speaker 1: with the real ww schedule. Like the real show, you
- 15:08Speaker 1: need to prove that you are the best to stay
- 15:09Speaker 1: on top of the leader board. Download Supercard, flash the
- 15:13Speaker 1: QR code and claim my WrestleMania forty two card for free.
- 15:20Speaker 1: So I know the promo where the game becomes a thing,
- 15:25Speaker 1: the game and referring to you as the game, and
- 15:27Speaker 1: you referring to yourself because of what you're sharing with me,
- 15:31Speaker 1: now it seems very obvious. Oh well, that would make sense.
- 15:35Speaker 1: He is young, active, but he's next to this person.
- 15:41Speaker 1: He's on pat tip. He's talking to this person. He's
- 15:44Speaker 1: actually making a suggestion.
- 15:46Speaker 3: What would you do here?
- 15:47Speaker 1: He's a learned this This is the way our information
- 15:51Speaker 1: in wrestling. This is the way our lessons are are taught.
- 15:54Speaker 3: You don't always know you're in a learning lesson the
- 15:56Speaker 3: next year you've that was interesting.
- 15:59Speaker 2: I mean, just you mentioned Kowalski earlier, not an interrupt,
- 16:02Speaker 2: but most of the stuff Kwalski taught me. I didn't
- 16:05Speaker 2: realize for ten years. You know, ten years later I'd
- 16:10Speaker 2: be repeating something in a different way and be like, well,
- 16:14Speaker 2: that's what he meant, Like that's what when he would
- 16:17Speaker 2: say that, that's what he meant. He couldn't he couldn't
- 16:21Speaker 2: teach per se. He could tell you all the things
- 16:25Speaker 2: that he was doing. And you know, people forget that
- 16:28Speaker 2: Kowalski was in the forties, fifties, sixties, one of the
- 16:35Speaker 2: probably the first sort of global guys, you know, Japan, Australia,
- 16:40Speaker 2: over in the US, over in Canada, over in Australia,
- 16:43Speaker 2: over in Japan, like over in all these places where
- 16:47Speaker 2: he became a name globally. But I didn't realize all
- 16:53Speaker 2: those lessons until much later.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Sorry interrupted you, No, No, I feel like people if
- 16:59Speaker 1: they don't know because the time, you know, time moving
- 17:01Speaker 1: so quickly, if they don't know who Killer Kowalski is,
- 17:04Speaker 1: that's a that's a really good one to look up
- 17:07Speaker 1: because what's a unique look about that?
- 17:11Speaker 2: And at different phases in his career, completely different. So
- 17:15Speaker 2: and it's hard because if you look at his later career,
- 17:18Speaker 2: which is most of the film, you're like, wait, the
- 17:22Speaker 2: big lanky old yeah, with the bad tu and the
- 17:25Speaker 2: you know, I mean, like I'm not seeing it. By
- 17:29Speaker 2: the time film becomes a big thing, he's passed his prime.
- 17:34Speaker 2: He also became a vegetarian at some point in there,
- 17:37Speaker 2: and his body completely transformed. But if you see pictures
- 17:41Speaker 2: of him from like the forties, even before he was
- 17:44Speaker 2: Killer Kowalski, when he was Tarzan and Kowalski, like I
- 17:48Speaker 2: think Walder was like six seven, six eight something like that,
- 17:53Speaker 2: maybe sixth Night, which at the time is like a
- 17:55Speaker 2: giant and jacked like stories and he's told me them himself,
- 18:02Speaker 2: doing pullovers with like three point fifteen like this is
- 18:07Speaker 2: this is like just knowing him, Like he's not certainly
- 18:10Speaker 2: not a drug guys before that and certainly wouldn't be
- 18:14Speaker 2: anything like that. But look like if you see those
- 18:17Speaker 2: pictures of him from back then, he looked like he
- 18:20Speaker 2: could have been like a mister America or something like
- 18:22Speaker 2: that at that time frame when you look at those
- 18:23Speaker 2: physiques just ahead of the time and that, and then
- 18:28Speaker 2: he increased the speed of the business when a lot
- 18:32Speaker 2: of guys were just I don't want to say it
- 18:35Speaker 2: in a negative way, they were working holds yeah. Right.
- 18:38Speaker 2: So the business was built on in and out of holds,
- 18:42Speaker 2: and there was a lot of you know, working holds
- 18:46Speaker 2: in our parlance today. But you know a lot of
- 18:47Speaker 2: people would say they were just laying around, you know,
- 18:50Speaker 2: selling these holes. He didn't do that at all. He
- 18:54Speaker 2: would his pace was non stop. He might maybe grab
- 18:58Speaker 2: a hold for ten to fifteen teen seconds and then
- 19:00Speaker 2: he was right up to and the next thing, bumping, bumping, bumping.
- 19:04Speaker 2: When when Harley first was talking to me about Walter,
- 19:08Speaker 2: he one of the stories he told me is he
- 19:10Speaker 2: was like, dude, you know, he said, sometimes I hated
- 19:13Speaker 2: working with him because he just was non stop. If
- 19:17Speaker 2: we had to go an hour Broadway, he was like,
- 19:21Speaker 2: you didn't stop for an hour straight. And I used
- 19:24Speaker 2: to think, like, God, this guy's got the most incredible
- 19:27Speaker 2: gas tank ever. Yeah, just doesn't slow down. You know,
- 19:31Speaker 2: this is a different time in the business.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to even now it's it kind of
- 19:37Speaker 1: emboldens the question. And I was asking you about the
- 19:39Speaker 1: game and the name and and and you saying in
- 19:42Speaker 1: this uh, it's the interview with Jim Ross.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Right.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I wanted to ask because I I remember sometimes as
- 19:50Speaker 1: if I'm growing up, right, in the age where prime example,
- 19:54Speaker 1: you and Rock are doing the ladder match. I'm growing
- 19:56Speaker 1: up right in the age where I am following the
- 19:58Speaker 1: narrative exactly how it's supposed to be followed, but I
- 20:01Speaker 1: don't realize that. I don't realize I'm following the air.
- 20:05Speaker 1: So that's the moment I started to go, Oh, this guy, Yes,
- 20:11Speaker 1: this is my this is my guy in the ladder
- 20:14Speaker 1: match too, I remember. And I had Dad to help
- 20:16Speaker 1: because he'd be behind me on the couch, like, look
- 20:20Speaker 1: at these two. But then also people like Sean. He
- 20:22Speaker 1: did not understand why I like Sean. He didn't, but
- 20:25Speaker 1: he never he never ruined my fund. He always he
- 20:30Speaker 1: watched me watch that Iron Man match and he could
- 20:32Speaker 1: tell I was not happy. And then Gorilla comes out
- 20:36Speaker 1: They're going to do a sudden death, and I could
- 20:37Speaker 1: see he was like, thank god, this kid can't sit
- 20:41Speaker 1: through another WrestleMania, like I think. And he used me
- 20:45Speaker 1: as a litmus test. But also with other people when randomly,
- 20:48Speaker 1: you know, Melmascaris or Dick would show up in Royal Rumble,
- 20:53Speaker 1: he'd be like, hey, so this is such a such
- 20:54Speaker 1: so I'd have a leg up. Yeah, everyone else, but
- 20:56Speaker 1: you mentioned the game and this promo. I always wanted
- 20:58Speaker 1: to ask, did you know he got this promo? Did
- 21:02Speaker 1: you know that there was a change, because it feels
- 21:05Speaker 1: like that promo happens, at least from my viewing perspective,
- 21:08Speaker 1: that it was a different ballgame for you.
- 21:10Speaker 2: So I was already trying to find the change, right.
- 21:14Speaker 2: You know, you go through a sequence of events in
- 21:19Speaker 2: your career that open up opportunities for change. I knew
- 21:23Speaker 2: where I wanted to be, and I knew where I was,
- 21:27Speaker 2: and I knew there were certain changes that need to happen,
- 21:30Speaker 2: but you kind of can't force those without them, without
- 21:33Speaker 2: the right things taking place. I knew that promo with JR.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I knew it when we did it, and I felt it,
- 21:44Speaker 2: and there were changes happening in the business. The line
- 21:50Speaker 2: was pretty much off the cuff, pretty much. You know,
- 21:57Speaker 2: I've seen people take credit for I wrote that script,
- 21:59Speaker 2: and I wrote that whatever. There were no there was
- 22:02Speaker 2: nothing written at that time. It was here's what Jay's
- 22:05Speaker 2: gonna ask you, these couple of questions, how are you
- 22:07Speaker 2: going to answer them? And if bad, best you jotted
- 22:11Speaker 2: down a couple of like maybe like a bullet points
- 22:16Speaker 2: for yourself to have them in your head, and uh,
- 22:21Speaker 2: I remember we did a take where I said the
- 22:24Speaker 2: fucking game and then they were like, uh, you know
- 22:29Speaker 2: that's okay. We're actually gonna We're just gonna show it
- 22:31Speaker 2: from the other side. We don't see your mouth. I'll
- 22:33Speaker 2: be all right, we'll beep it. And I was like, oh,
- 22:35Speaker 2: it are okay. So if they think that's good enough,
- 22:38Speaker 2: Like there was something there. When I really realized it
- 22:41Speaker 2: was the following TV because if you're if you're in
- 22:48Speaker 2: tune to it and you do something, and this is
- 22:50Speaker 2: where like the live events too come into play for
- 22:53Speaker 2: everybody that we don't have anymore, and it's difficult. You
- 22:56Speaker 2: try things and then you gauge that reaction and you
- 23:00Speaker 2: move with the reaction, and if you're smart, you're you're
- 23:02Speaker 2: sort of following the tide of where things are going.
- 23:05Speaker 2: When when I came out that next TV and I
- 23:07Speaker 2: just remember stepping on the stage and looking out over
- 23:10Speaker 2: the crowd and seeing like I don't know, like five
- 23:12Speaker 2: or six signs ye with the game on it, and
- 23:15Speaker 2: thinking like, and we're onto something with that game thing.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I gotta jump on that like now, like I need
- 23:21Speaker 2: to say it all the time. And JR and I
- 23:25Speaker 2: had a conversation about it and he started to you know,
- 23:28Speaker 2: JR was I can't give him enough credit for being
- 23:32Speaker 2: the soundtrack of our generation.
- 23:34Speaker 1: But soundtrack of your generation. But also he's people think JR.
- 23:39Speaker 1: And they think Steve Austin all the time. Jim Ross
- 23:42Speaker 1: is hatred for you as the is legendary. Yeah, some
- 23:48Speaker 1: of the commentary is just it's a man shouting into
- 23:52Speaker 1: the microphone. You just how upset he is with you.
- 23:57Speaker 1: And then it takes this earned where when he's talking
- 24:01Speaker 1: about you in a positive way, he's talking about but
- 24:05Speaker 1: he's still from the place where he was He's I
- 24:07Speaker 1: know what he would do for that championship. His way
- 24:10Speaker 1: of connecting you with the w B Championship and the
- 24:13Speaker 1: World Championship is how important it is. And it again
- 24:16Speaker 1: tag team wrestling rules. If we don't you know, if
- 24:19Speaker 1: we care, they care, And just I wanted to ask
- 24:21Speaker 1: because now we're talking about the game. I think that's
- 24:26Speaker 1: very important and I looked for it for me when
- 24:29Speaker 1: I came back. I wanted to find Michael Cole right
- 24:32Speaker 1: away and basically say what can I do?
- 24:36Speaker 3: And I want you know, you have.
- 24:38Speaker 1: A Jim Ross okay, and Austin has a Gym Ross
- 24:42Speaker 1: and Dusty had a Gordon solely, you know, like how
- 24:45Speaker 1: can I do that with you?
- 24:47Speaker 3: Have I earned that? Even? And if I have, what
- 24:50Speaker 3: do I need?
- 24:50Speaker 1: And I remember thanking him after wrestling A forty and
- 24:55Speaker 1: just that was They're so important the soundtrack, yes, the
- 25:00Speaker 1: announcer to the story.
- 25:02Speaker 2: I think about Ali and Cosel Yes, back in that
- 25:05Speaker 2: day right, like part of his part of his, part
- 25:10Speaker 2: of Ali being able to show his charisma, part of
- 25:13Speaker 2: it was because Cosell was setting him up to be
- 25:16Speaker 2: able to show it and giving him that platform. So
- 25:20Speaker 2: they were so important to each other. Yeah, people mentioned,
- 25:24Speaker 2: you know, Jr's connection to Steve all the time because
- 25:27Speaker 2: Steve could put j R over JR put Steve over. Yeah,
- 25:30Speaker 2: there was like almost like this television friendship there. For me,
- 25:33Speaker 2: it was the exact opposite. He was almost like JR
- 25:36Speaker 2: was almost like my nemesis on commentary and it really
- 25:43Speaker 2: really really got me over as being a heel and
- 25:48Speaker 2: even just he was so amazing with cerebral assassin just
- 25:53Speaker 2: made me seem different than everybody else because I had
- 25:59Speaker 2: to approach things as smarter at first. I'm not going
- 26:04Speaker 2: to be taken as tough as Steve Right or as
- 26:09Speaker 2: savvy as Rock. So I have to have what is
- 26:12Speaker 2: my different thing. My different thing is I'm smarter about
- 26:16Speaker 2: I'm conniving, I'm all those things right, I'm getting in
- 26:19Speaker 2: there on the backside. The cerebral assassin thing was magic,
- 26:24Speaker 2: So all that stuff. Yeah, you know, along the way,
- 26:27Speaker 2: there's so many aspects to what we do that help
- 26:32Speaker 2: get you in a position and keep you in a
- 26:34Speaker 2: position that it's hard. You know, when you start talking
- 26:39Speaker 2: about the people that influence your career or part of it,
- 26:41Speaker 2: or things like that, it's hard to go like, well
- 26:45Speaker 2: this person helped make me or that person, because everybody
- 26:48Speaker 2: does every little moment along the way. Does this business
- 26:52Speaker 2: is you're so reliant on the other people, you really are.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And your wife, she's going in the Hall of Fame. Yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 1: you bring up you're sore lying on other people. I
- 27:02Speaker 1: learned a lesson from her just last night. I learned several,
- 27:06Speaker 1: but the one I learned that I thought teeth well, well, well,
- 27:13Speaker 1: she walked into her room with I thought we'd already
- 27:15Speaker 1: said hi to all these folks, right, and I'd say
- 27:18Speaker 1: hi to everybody. I'm still a wrestler, Hey and shake.
- 27:20Speaker 1: She said hi to everyone in the room and made
- 27:22Speaker 1: that moment to you're the only one here and I
- 27:26Speaker 1: that's real.
- 27:28Speaker 2: And I thought, that's a funny thing is I don't
- 27:30Speaker 2: even think she knows she does it, it's just who
- 27:32Speaker 2: she is.
- 27:33Speaker 1: But everyone in that room felt we're part of this now.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Everyone in there, we are part of this segment that
- 27:39Speaker 1: they're doing, even if we're just sitting here quiet and
- 27:41Speaker 1: listening to the process.
- 27:43Speaker 3: And all that.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I just I thought that was I thought that was
- 27:46Speaker 1: really unique. Again a lesson, do you know, because we're
- 27:50Speaker 1: talking about announcers. When I was kid, I'd go to
- 27:53Speaker 1: the w CW shows. You know how they sat at
- 27:55Speaker 1: the stand they were away from the ring. I used
- 27:59Speaker 1: to my first little job, one of the first jobs
- 28:02Speaker 1: I had in wrestling was I used to be a
- 28:04Speaker 1: runner and they had a whiteboard and they'd write what
- 28:08Speaker 1: they wanted. And this is the perfect time for me
- 28:10Speaker 1: to plug Wheatley American Vodka, which I have my American
- 28:12Speaker 1: mule as always. But Bobby Heenan only ever asked me
- 28:16Speaker 1: for one thing. It's just orange juice, and it was
- 28:19Speaker 1: always the funniest thing ever I'd go like to catering
- 28:22Speaker 1: and like get everyone out of my way. I'd get
- 28:24Speaker 1: the orange juice and bring it back and he'd whatever
- 28:26Speaker 1: have his moment, you know. But I always that was
- 28:28Speaker 1: my first little gig, as I'd sit up there and
- 28:31Speaker 1: and and help out.
- 28:32Speaker 3: I wanted to be part of it.
- 28:33Speaker 1: And I don't think my dad wanted to bring me
- 28:35Speaker 1: around backstage unless I was gonna be functionally active.
- 28:39Speaker 2: It was such also such a different business than like.
- 28:45Speaker 1: You know that he he introduced me to you at
- 28:48Speaker 1: Saturday night. He and I know that your crossovers real. Yeah,
- 28:53Speaker 1: so he introduced me to you, and it's it's we're
- 28:57Speaker 1: in the warehouse where it's serendipity everywhere, it's all meant
- 29:00Speaker 1: to be, where there's some sort of cosmic fate in
- 29:04Speaker 1: the wrestling space. And literally whether he was you were
- 29:07Speaker 1: brand new to him, or whether he's sincerely meant it.
- 29:10Speaker 1: I remember him saying, he introduced me to me, He's
- 29:15Speaker 1: going to be a really big deal, and I was
- 29:19Speaker 1: scared because he didn't smarten me up. So I'd shake
- 29:23Speaker 1: hands because he told me to shake hands, and then
- 29:25Speaker 1: just kind of okay, you know, like go away, because
- 29:28Speaker 1: I'd like to be twenty feet away watching everything at
- 29:31Speaker 1: a distance. I remember this whole moment happens, and it
- 29:34Speaker 1: just it's funny that that moment happens, and here we
- 29:38Speaker 1: are sitting here, you know, we're going into WrestleMania. Do
- 29:41Speaker 1: you consider WrestleMania forty your first full WrestleMania as the
- 29:46Speaker 1: chief content officer as the.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I think so, though you know there was and again
- 29:53Speaker 2: this is where I'm terrible at times. But it's not
- 29:56Speaker 2: like one day here it's yours and everything else went away. Right.
- 30:01Speaker 2: There was so many aspects to that of you know, hey, uh,
- 30:10Speaker 2: Vin's is stepping away, You're going to take this spot,
- 30:15Speaker 2: but he's chiming in and where he's still meeting with
- 30:18Speaker 2: me all the time, and he's still you know, directing
- 30:21Speaker 2: traffic from the side, and there's no real it's a weird,
- 30:31Speaker 2: no real clear moment for me, But I would consider
- 30:35Speaker 2: it that.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Yes, would you have preferred there been a real clear
- 30:38Speaker 1: moment or did you like the very I mean, I'm
- 30:40Speaker 1: a part of being there.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a transition.
- 30:45Speaker 2: No. The only thing that is difficult in that transition
- 30:55Speaker 2: you're you're trying to at the end of the day
- 31:01Speaker 2: when people are like, yeah, but it's your decision, right, yeah,
- 31:06Speaker 2: sort of, you know what I mean, Like you're you're yes,
- 31:10Speaker 2: and you have to defend your position and you have
- 31:12Speaker 2: to be able to sell that to people and explain
- 31:15Speaker 2: it to people if it's a little bit not your
- 31:18Speaker 2: position or a little bit well why did this happen?
- 31:21Speaker 2: And you don't want to say well, because you know
- 31:26Speaker 2: it wasn't totally my decision or and not because you
- 31:30Speaker 2: don't want to seem like you don't have that power,
- 31:32Speaker 2: but like you're you have to position it that way.
- 31:37Speaker 2: It's it's just such a complex. There's so many aspects
- 31:44Speaker 2: to what we do, even just on a regular general
- 31:47Speaker 2: daily basis, where you you know, you're putting something out
- 31:51Speaker 2: there and in some manner you're like, if in an
- 31:56Speaker 2: ideal world, I would do this. We live in an
- 32:00Speaker 2: ideal world, live in a realistic world where I can't
- 32:04Speaker 2: do that because of this, and I can't do that
- 32:06Speaker 2: because of this, and I can't move this here because
- 32:09Speaker 2: you know, it can be something as simple as these
- 32:12Speaker 2: two people don't get along or this, I know this
- 32:16Speaker 2: person has an injury that I can't man, I can't
- 32:21Speaker 2: put all that there or whatever whatever the moment, the sequence,
- 32:25Speaker 2: the scenario is the there's so many factors to all
- 32:29Speaker 2: of it that are just you know, I wish it
- 32:33Speaker 2: was as simple as what people think when they just
- 32:36Speaker 2: go like, why didn't they just do this? I wish
- 32:38Speaker 2: it was that simple, I really do you know.
- 32:41Speaker 1: I don't know if you know, and I've probably shared
- 32:43Speaker 1: it with you before, but one of the bigger, bigger
- 32:45Speaker 1: honors of my career. Sometimes you're something really special happens
- 32:49Speaker 1: to you at TV and it's simple. It's a thing
- 32:51Speaker 1: somebody said or something, and that was that meant so much.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Yesterday I'm in the garden and I've been in the
- 32:58Speaker 1: garden where they're patting you down at the door and
- 33:01Speaker 1: asking for your credential and it's okay, it's and then
- 33:05Speaker 1: yesterday I pull in the private entrance and the guys
- 33:08Speaker 1: holding the elevator says, elevators open for you, Champ. Yeah, yeah,
- 33:13Speaker 1: I could have done anything, Yeah I could have.
- 33:16Speaker 3: I felt like I floated into the elevator. I was.
- 33:19Speaker 3: It blew my mind.
- 33:21Speaker 1: But something that Nick con said to me that when
- 33:25Speaker 1: you you know, fully started out in terms of where
- 33:28Speaker 1: we're wrestling at forty was what we'll say here. He
- 33:32Speaker 1: said that you and myself and him all entered this
- 33:36Speaker 1: really at the same moment. Yep, and I felt I
- 33:41Speaker 1: really thought, damn, that's a big responsibility. And uh and
- 33:47Speaker 1: and you're lucky too, you know, I'm so lucky to
- 33:52Speaker 1: have been in it. But I thought, that's such a
- 33:53Speaker 1: big responsibility, and it made me I want to hold
- 33:56Speaker 1: on to it, you know. And and I want to
- 33:58Speaker 1: ask you this because you're now in the position of
- 34:02Speaker 1: the chief content officer, leadership the creative. You're directing this
- 34:07Speaker 1: this movie. As my dad would say, we're making movies here,
- 34:10Speaker 1: and you're directing all these movies.
- 34:12Speaker 3: It's multiple movies and.
- 34:13Speaker 1: TV series and TV series about TV series, all these things, and.
- 34:18Speaker 2: A TV series about making the TV series making.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I just told them so yesterday I was I told Stephanie.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I said, well, the challenge with Unreal is to show
- 34:27Speaker 1: them everything but not and she just went like, oh, oh,
- 34:32Speaker 1: what that's so hard. I'm like, yeah, it's it's it's well,
- 34:36Speaker 1: it's a challenge.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Show them everything but not and then show them what
- 34:41Speaker 2: you want to show them. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 34:44Speaker 2: It's no different than I feel like when talent do
- 34:48Speaker 2: interviews or they do podcasts, right, Yeah, Like I see
- 34:52Speaker 2: all the time, like five different versions of the same story,
- 34:56Speaker 2: all by whose point of view told them oh story,
- 34:59Speaker 2: and and what most people on the outside of our
- 35:02Speaker 2: business don't get in like especially the and I'll use
- 35:07Speaker 2: this term of the dirt cheek eyes whatever. It's like wrestlers,
- 35:11Speaker 2: most of not this generation, but once before that. Their
- 35:16Speaker 2: entire life life was built on just tell people what
- 35:19Speaker 2: you want to tell them, and eventually it becomes the
- 35:20Speaker 2: reality of sure at the situation. So yeah, like everybody's
- 35:24Speaker 2: telling you what they want to hear, and when the
- 35:26Speaker 2: time is right, they'll say anything. If it's going to
- 35:28Speaker 2: get them the extra moment, if it's going to get
- 35:30Speaker 2: them an extra nod, if it's going to make them
- 35:32Speaker 2: seem more important, it will say anything. So yeah, the
- 35:36Speaker 2: versions of the stories change over the years that you
- 35:40Speaker 2: get ten different versions because there were ten people there
- 35:43Speaker 2: and their point of view on it is all different.
- 35:46Speaker 2: It's so it's such a unique.
- 35:49Speaker 3: You mentioned this generation. I want to ask you because
- 35:53Speaker 3: I know.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Working with you is is different than working with any
- 35:59Speaker 1: other boss management booker that I've worked with, But do
- 36:03Speaker 1: you have a pet peeve about this the talent.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Is there a pet peeve?
- 36:09Speaker 2: You haven't, I don't.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Is there something that just that that gets onder? For example,
- 36:17Speaker 1: is there something I do?
- 36:18Speaker 2: No? You know, the outdress and everybody think, no, it's
- 36:30Speaker 2: it's not a pet peeve. It's the Sometimes there's frustration
- 36:36Speaker 2: of being able to have the perspective of looking back
- 36:41Speaker 2: over a long career and so many people's careers and
- 36:45Speaker 2: so many different talents and all different levels of success,
- 36:49Speaker 2: and then wanting to say to a talent like, dude,
- 36:51Speaker 2: this is meaningless. And you are arguing and wearing yourself
- 36:59Speaker 2: out men, and wearing yourself out emotionally over this point
- 37:04Speaker 2: that is meaningless. Like literally, by next Monday show, no
- 37:09Speaker 2: one is going to think about this again. Yeah, And
- 37:13Speaker 2: it's so many people. They get so caught up in
- 37:16Speaker 2: the minutia of the little tiny things that don't really
- 37:22Speaker 2: make the difference. And there are big things sometimes that
- 37:28Speaker 2: go by the wayside, but it's like these little tiny
- 37:32Speaker 2: moments and guys will like you know, they used to
- 37:37Speaker 2: be saying, here is like pick the hill you want
- 37:38Speaker 2: to die on? This isn't it. I Like, pick the hill.
- 37:43Speaker 2: If you're going to die in that hill, it's got
- 37:44Speaker 2: to be worth it. And there's so many things sometimes
- 37:47Speaker 2: where guys and it's not for me necessarily I see them.
- 37:52Speaker 2: There are moments in time when agents or other talent
- 37:55Speaker 2: come up to me and they're like, I swear to God,
- 37:57Speaker 2: if this person says this one more time today, I'm
- 37:59Speaker 2: a was my mind right because they're just so obsessed
- 38:05Speaker 2: with this one little nugget of something that everybody else
- 38:13Speaker 2: around them is like who cares? Right, Yeah, that's that's
- 38:20Speaker 2: the biggest thing for me. It's like I don't want
- 38:23Speaker 2: guys because I see it in so many people. They're
- 38:27Speaker 2: going to get to the end of what is a
- 38:29Speaker 2: magnificent career in so many levels creatively successfully your It's
- 38:37Speaker 2: it's like the guy that played in the end, he
- 38:40Speaker 2: makes it to the NBA, he plays in the NBA,
- 38:44Speaker 2: he's a top player in the NBA, but his name
- 38:48Speaker 2: doesn't get mentioned next to Michael Jordan's and it just
- 38:52Speaker 2: eats him alive. And it's like, do that success that
- 38:56Speaker 2: you have, like the misery that people create for themselves
- 39:00Speaker 2: based around certain places like where they don't get to
- 39:06Speaker 2: or or they're right there, but yet they have this
- 39:09Speaker 2: unbelievable run. I think you might have even been there
- 39:12Speaker 2: at the time. I heard Arn one time talking. You know,
- 39:15Speaker 2: these guys were putting them over, and there was this
- 39:17Speaker 2: conversation about mid card guys and he's never gonna be
- 39:22Speaker 2: champ and all this stuff, and Arn went off on
- 39:24Speaker 2: this huge promo about like I don't understand all of you.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Like he said, you guys all see me as a
- 39:31Speaker 2: big deal, right, and everybody's like, yeah, you're fucking Arn Anderson. Yeah,
- 39:35Speaker 2: one of the greats of all time. But he said,
- 39:36Speaker 2: I got a Hall of Fame worthy career. I've got
- 39:39Speaker 2: all this stuff, right, he said, mid carter nothing more. Ever,
- 39:45Speaker 2: I never made evented a thing unless I was in
- 39:48Speaker 2: the ring with Flair. I never main evented a thing.
- 39:50Speaker 2: If I was tagging with Flair, I was in the
- 39:53Speaker 2: main event. If I wasn't nothing, I was a mid carter.
- 39:56Speaker 2: I was a guy there to get guys over on
- 39:58Speaker 2: the way to getting up to the Dusty and the
- 40:00Speaker 2: flares and the people like that. I was a mid
- 40:02Speaker 2: card guy. You guys see me as this unbelievable legend
- 40:07Speaker 2: that you all listen to and all this stuff. But
- 40:09Speaker 2: when it comes to your own careers, and many of
- 40:10Speaker 2: you have already surpassed the position I was ever in.
- 40:13Speaker 2: You're miserable about it because you think that you haven't
- 40:16Speaker 2: reached the success of other things. But yet I see
- 40:20Speaker 2: myself as having this amazing career, fed my family, I
- 40:25Speaker 2: got to do things I would have never done, all
- 40:27Speaker 2: this stuff like incredibly successful. Like, man, what a journey
- 40:32Speaker 2: I've had. But if I used your metrics to measure it,
- 40:36Speaker 2: mid card a nothing. I never amounted anything. They wasted
- 40:41Speaker 2: my talents, they wasted my ability, They never gave me anything,
- 40:44Speaker 2: They never did anything with me. You create your own bitterness,
- 40:49Speaker 2: and that is the thing that is a pet peeve
- 40:52Speaker 2: to me, not because it bothers me, because it bothers me.
- 40:55Speaker 2: For them, there's so many talent that I go like, dude,
- 40:58Speaker 2: you have so much going on. You're so in a
- 41:05Speaker 2: position that there's a small handful of people on the
- 41:09Speaker 2: planet or in that spot and millions behind you that
- 41:13Speaker 2: would cut off a limb to have that. Yeah, and
- 41:17Speaker 2: you're miserable every day because you're not considered the next guy. Now,
- 41:23Speaker 2: that's not me saying you shouldn't be ambitious to want
- 41:27Speaker 2: to get to the next level. That's not me saying,
- 41:29Speaker 2: but I don't believe the misery of I didn't get
- 41:34Speaker 2: that makes you miserable for this, be thrilled and excited
- 41:39Speaker 2: about the stuff that you have, and the proud of
- 41:42Speaker 2: the accomplishments and proud of the things you've done and
- 41:45Speaker 2: all that stuff. Yeah, I always strive for more. I'll
- 41:48Speaker 2: never tell a talent you're never going to get past
- 41:50Speaker 2: the point you're at ever, because I don't know. And
- 41:55Speaker 2: things can flip on a diamond. You can be in
- 41:57Speaker 2: that spot because the right things happen at the right time,
- 42:00Speaker 2: you could be in that spot. But even then that
- 42:02Speaker 2: doesn't it doesn't change the other things. And I get
- 42:07Speaker 2: that feeling of wanting to walk in the door and
- 42:09Speaker 2: have held the elevator for your chance, or I get that,
- 42:16Speaker 2: but the but the just telling you at the end
- 42:19Speaker 2: of it, it's the journey along the way is more
- 42:22Speaker 2: meaningful than the moment that you sort of get there
- 42:25Speaker 2: and land on it. And that journey and the people
- 42:30Speaker 2: and the moments and the time, and you don't realize
- 42:33Speaker 2: it until it's done. No one tells you it's the
- 42:37Speaker 2: fucking good old days until later when you look back,
- 42:41Speaker 2: he and come, man, that it's the good old days.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Right If somebody would tell you that, then you wouldn't
- 42:45Speaker 2: think it. You know, we didn't know the attitude era.
- 42:48Speaker 2: I mean, we kind of felt like some special was
- 42:50Speaker 2: going on at the same point in time. You just
- 42:52Speaker 2: Thursday and I got to be in Toledo or whatever.
- 42:54Speaker 2: You know what I mean, Like it didn't it didn't
- 42:57Speaker 2: do things, and you're thrilled to get it working your asshole.
- 43:01Speaker 2: But I don't know. I just I wish. I wish
- 43:04Speaker 2: people could have that perspective, because I think it lands
- 43:08Speaker 2: you to bitterness and angry over yeah, things that don't
- 43:12Speaker 2: Many should just be thrilled at the what you accomplished
- 43:16Speaker 2: in the career that you had.
- 43:19Speaker 1: When I was preparing to come back to WB at
- 43:21Speaker 1: RUSSELMANA thirty eight, I had some doubts and some nerves,

- 44:35Speaker 1: out because I've noticed and watched you work very differently
- 44:39Speaker 1: with our producers than in the past, and how the
- 44:43Speaker 1: producers were and we got a great crew of producers.

- 44:55Speaker 2: But help help put the story in the match together.
- 44:58Speaker 2: But then when you're in the ring doing it, help
- 45:00Speaker 2: make sure that your vision is caught on camera and
- 45:03Speaker 2: relaid to the world. Right, because you're gonna have the
- 45:06Speaker 2: greatest vision in the world. But if we don't show
- 45:08Speaker 2: it and we don't capture it right, then it doesn't happen.
- 45:11Speaker 2: So they're sort of the link between it happening live
- 45:14Speaker 2: and what people.
- 45:15Speaker 1: See and the link to you in a sense of,
- 45:18Speaker 1: here's what the vision that Triple H has for this,
- 45:22Speaker 1: is the vision that creative has for this. We need
- 45:24Speaker 1: to accomplish this. Well, let's collab with yours. Let's see
- 45:27Speaker 1: where we get. How do we manifest it in a
- 45:29Speaker 1: way that all those words sounded great, but now people
- 45:32Speaker 1: see it and know what we're talking about. But Bobby
- 45:35Speaker 1: Rude works really closely. Yes, and I've really enjoyed working
- 45:39Speaker 1: with Bobby Rude. Is there something you see in Bobby
- 45:45Speaker 1: that there's more too? Or is it just a sponge?
- 45:48Speaker 1: Is he someone the game like in a sense of
- 45:51Speaker 1: learning and going.
- 45:53Speaker 2: He's a sponge? It's a funny one. I very first,
- 45:55Speaker 2: I didn't know Bobby at all, and he came into
- 45:58Speaker 2: n XT when we were there, and a couple of
- 46:03Speaker 2: things I realized very quickly about him was one, he
- 46:06Speaker 2: had an innate ability for this. Two, I don't think
- 46:09Speaker 2: he'd been taught a whole lot like from from not
- 46:13Speaker 2: from the wrestling standpoint. He knew that the television standpoint
- 46:18Speaker 2: and the psychology standpoint, right, I think because TNA was
- 46:22Speaker 2: sort of a hey, just go do it and then
- 46:24Speaker 2: that's what comes out. It was nobody did TV like here, right,
- 46:30Speaker 2: so guys would come in as aj Style said this
- 46:35Speaker 2: to me after he'd been with us for like six
- 46:36Speaker 2: months and he made a comment to me. He pulled
- 46:38Speaker 2: me aside. He was like, hey, mat, if I give
- 46:40Speaker 2: you something I noticed, he said, don't ever let anybody
- 46:43Speaker 2: come here that didn't go through NXT. First, I said,
- 46:46Speaker 2: why you say that? He said, because, man, if you'd
- 46:49Speaker 2: have told me that when I was coming here, I
- 46:51Speaker 2: would have been like, God, do you mind? I know
- 46:53Speaker 2: what I'm doing. And then I got here, and I
- 46:55Speaker 2: spent the first six months lying to myself and to
- 46:57Speaker 2: everybody else, well, I know what's going on. I was
- 47:00Speaker 2: just trying to hang onto the tiger by the tail.
- 47:02Speaker 2: I said. I didn't. I didn't get it. I couldn't
- 47:05Speaker 2: see it like you guys were saying and doing stuff
- 47:07Speaker 2: that I was like, what are they talking about? And
- 47:09Speaker 2: then later I realize, oh, man, that's great I didn't.
- 47:12Speaker 2: I never even heard that before. And you know, he said,
- 47:17Speaker 2: you guys shoot a movie, right, like everybody else is
- 47:21Speaker 2: just following wrestling, whatever's happened, they're falling on on camera.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Bobby was a guy that same thing. He had learned
- 47:33Speaker 2: it just he was just knew what he was doing
- 47:36Speaker 2: and they were following it doing all this stuff. But
- 47:38Speaker 2: when he came in, man, he was like a sponge
- 47:41Speaker 2: and I would see him picking everybody's brain and just
- 47:45Speaker 2: just for his own stuff. When his career started to
- 47:49Speaker 2: wind out at that time, I remember thinking to myself,
- 47:52Speaker 2: like when when he wants to be done taking bumps,
- 47:58Speaker 2: Like he's a good eye for this. I always start
- 48:01Speaker 2: out with it. He's a grown up.
- 48:02Speaker 3: That's the test part of it.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Yeah, grown I'd like, he's not lived, He's not a
- 48:07Speaker 2: kid just looking to get another paycheck, right. He understands
- 48:12Speaker 2: the difference between business and being one of the boys
- 48:16Speaker 2: and all that stuff. Grown up but gets it and
- 48:19Speaker 2: just has a great demeanor for it and is a
- 48:21Speaker 2: sponge for it. And then the more I got to
- 48:23Speaker 2: work with him once once he got you know, he
- 48:26Speaker 2: unfortunately had a neck injury that wasn't subsiding he and
- 48:29Speaker 2: I spoke about it. I said, wann't you come in
- 48:32Speaker 2: and start learning to be an agent and if the
- 48:34Speaker 2: medical stuff clears up, yeah great, it'll help your career.
- 48:37Speaker 2: If it doesn't, we'll start using it. But he jumped
- 48:42Speaker 2: on it, and just very quickly I started moving him
- 48:47Speaker 2: up the line and then having a conversation with Mike
- 48:49Speaker 2: about mentor him. You know, like Michael Days.
- 48:55Speaker 3: Had a birthday yesterday.
- 48:56Speaker 2: He had a birthday yes which had a birthday on Sunday.
- 49:02Speaker 2: He told me about many times because he was very
- 49:04Speaker 2: pissed off at the fact that he with all the
- 49:07Speaker 2: TSA issues that he was gonna he can't stand in
- 49:12Speaker 2: line that long and he's not sitting in a wheelchair.
- 49:14Speaker 2: I'm like, Mike, I can't change TSA, right. So he
- 49:17Speaker 2: goes to the airport three hours early and then sends
- 49:20Speaker 2: me a note pissed off that there was no line
- 49:23Speaker 2: and now he got through immediately, and now he's stuck
- 49:26Speaker 2: at the airport with three hours with nothing to do.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Happy fucking birthday. You know.
- 49:31Speaker 3: The plot thickens on his birthday.
- 49:33Speaker 1: I texted him while he was at the airport, Hey,
- 49:36Speaker 1: I got a jet, don't feel like doing TSA, and
- 49:40Speaker 1: he kinda this is when you tell me.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Like, hey, for that reason, if you'd have told him that,
- 49:47Speaker 2: it would have been phenomenal. Even if you didn't have
- 49:49Speaker 2: a jet and you just called him today I got
- 49:51Speaker 2: a jet at that point, it would have been the best.
- 49:54Speaker 3: So I gotta tell him.
- 49:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell him, I'm gonna give him a lot
- 49:56Speaker 1: more like advance yes on those things.
- 50:00Speaker 2: So to go back to Michael, because if Pat was
- 50:05Speaker 2: the be all end, all finished guy, you know, psychology wise,
- 50:10Speaker 2: in ring guy of that generation, Michael is this generation's Pat.
- 50:16Speaker 2: And as Pat was winding down, Michael was very quickly
- 50:19Speaker 2: becoming So even at the end of my career, Taker's career,
- 50:22Speaker 2: Shawn's career, like Michael was, Michael was the guy and
- 50:26Speaker 2: still is the guy. Put all his Michael asisms aside.
- 50:33Speaker 2: And I often think if he hadn't done all the
- 50:34Speaker 2: stuff he'd done to him throughout the seventies and eighties, man,
- 50:37Speaker 2: he'd be a certified genius because clearly he's killed a
- 50:40Speaker 2: lot of brain cells and he's still at that level.
- 50:44Speaker 2: But yeah, I can't say enough about how good Michael
- 50:49Speaker 2: is it that and now Bobby is sort of to
- 50:53Speaker 2: me picking up that he's sort of running side by
- 50:56Speaker 2: side with Michael right there and learning from him, Yeah,
- 51:01Speaker 2: at an incredible rate, much like Michael did from Pat right, Like, Yeah,
- 51:05Speaker 2: that's that's the the fun aspect of our business.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Michael's one of the guys that I tried really hard
- 51:11Speaker 1: to impress and I don't think I've got there yet,
- 51:15Speaker 1: and now at this juncture, because he's been part of
- 51:18Speaker 1: some major moments. At this point, I kind of have
- 51:23Speaker 1: to always say, Michael, what's wrong here? Yeah, like, what
- 51:26Speaker 1: what can I do? Because he is he is one
- 51:29Speaker 1: of the certified super geniuses that you have that's surround you.
- 51:33Speaker 1: You have mister Hayman, and you have Michael Hayes, and
- 51:35Speaker 1: you have Bruce, and you have these people who have
- 51:38Speaker 1: done it at the level and actually seen that play
- 51:41Speaker 1: before and how it works and can feel the crowd psychology.
- 51:44Speaker 3: And what if we did this?
- 51:45Speaker 1: Also great what if guys, which just like the road
- 51:48Speaker 1: of what if is sometimes very hmmm, what if we
- 51:52Speaker 1: did that? But Michael's one that I actually actually look
- 51:54Speaker 1: forward to his enthusiastic outlook on what I did because
- 52:00Speaker 1: he's I know, he's honest.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Yeah, Well that's the thing with him too, You're you're
- 52:04Speaker 2: going to get the that was awesome or you're going
- 52:07Speaker 2: to get the I would have done this different. Everybody
- 52:10Speaker 2: else can be coming back, and I think you have
- 52:12Speaker 2: to have that yes some degree.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Yeah, nobody wants to come back and just this or
- 52:16Speaker 1: they you know, like, get what's because we're in the
- 52:20Speaker 1: stage where I feel like when records started being broken
- 52:23Speaker 1: and again wrestle maning forty rest many forty one. These
- 52:25Speaker 1: are stadium record gates massive. The revenue report TKO just
- 52:31Speaker 1: put out this is these numbers are wild. I think
- 52:34Speaker 1: explaining that to my mother, it just it sounds like
- 52:36Speaker 1: I'm just lying. Yeah, it's so the numbers are so wonderful.
- 52:40Speaker 1: But with that in mind and with the thing, the
- 52:43Speaker 1: first thing I think is okay, okay, great, what do
- 52:46Speaker 1: we do?
- 52:47Speaker 3: So what do we do next?
- 52:48Speaker 2: Yeah, we come up against your own records? Yeah, and
- 52:50Speaker 2: then you know you're like, oh, man, like, how do
- 52:53Speaker 2: you how do you surpass that? How do you top that?
- 52:56Speaker 2: How do you get it to that next level? And
- 52:58Speaker 2: it's difficult. And the other aspect of that too, This
- 53:01Speaker 2: is what people don't care. So talent come back and
- 53:04Speaker 2: they're immediately like you know, looking for that thing, and
- 53:09Speaker 2: sometimes you don't want to kick him in that mug
- 53:14Speaker 2: talent come back like that was pretty good. It was
- 53:16Speaker 2: pretty good. Here's how we could have made it better.
- 53:20Speaker 2: You don't want to say that in the moment where
- 53:22Speaker 2: the guy like just hit the home run and you're like,
- 53:24Speaker 2: could hit it further? Yeah, you know what I mean,
- 53:27Speaker 2: where it just like take all the wind out of
- 53:29Speaker 2: somebody's sales. And I think about our business a lot
- 53:33Speaker 2: about like it's And you'll see this is your kids
- 53:37Speaker 2: get older, Like your kid can be playing basketball and
- 53:39Speaker 2: stinking the joint out right and no confidence, head downs
- 53:43Speaker 2: kind of like running through the motions playing basketball or whatever,
- 53:47Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden they throw a shot
- 53:49Speaker 2: up and it goes in. Everything about them changes, standing
- 53:54Speaker 2: taller all of a sudden, Michael Jordan and they're running
- 53:57Speaker 2: down the court like their confidence levels up. Now they
- 54:00Speaker 2: steal the ball, now they're like right, Like confidence is
- 54:04Speaker 2: such a a motivating factor for people mentally, confidence and
- 54:09Speaker 2: that that capitalizing on that success and knowing that you're good,
- 54:16Speaker 2: knowing all these things, and when you start to have
- 54:18Speaker 2: a decline, that's why in baseball it's hard to get
- 54:21Speaker 2: out of a hitting slump. It's also hard to derail
- 54:23Speaker 2: a guy that's on fire. Right, there's there's these mental moments,
- 54:31Speaker 2: so you don't want to take that out of talent.
- 54:34Speaker 2: You don't want to You want to put them over.
- 54:37Speaker 2: You want to make sure that they know when things
- 54:39Speaker 2: were good. You don't want to make them know when
- 54:41Speaker 2: things are bad. But maybe sometimes not in the exact
- 54:44Speaker 2: moment that you're like, you know, you call them over,
- 54:47Speaker 2: like he just went out there and did really well,
- 54:51Speaker 2: and they come over like goddamn, what fuck are you doing?
- 54:53Speaker 2: You know, like it's tough. It's a tough thing. So
- 54:57Speaker 2: having that having that sort of middle of the road
- 55:03Speaker 2: approach and going back to guys later or you know,
- 55:08Speaker 2: even for me sometimes like if I say it just
- 55:12Speaker 2: because of the spot, it's a different weight than if
- 55:15Speaker 2: So sometimes I'll be like, tell them, yeah, later when
- 55:19Speaker 2: everything is calm, talk to them about this, yeah, right,
- 55:23Speaker 2: so that they can go back to them maybe tell
- 55:24Speaker 2: it will come back to me a day later to
- 55:26Speaker 2: talk to me about or something. But like it's it's
- 55:29Speaker 2: it's an easier way to do it than like, yeah,
- 55:31Speaker 2: I forgot I thought that was good and he hated it.
- 55:33Speaker 2: It's I didn't hate it. I just wanted to change.
- 55:36Speaker 2: But it's taken differently. You know.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I have a joke with the writers, which is more
- 55:39Speaker 1: sports confusion for me because I say quarterback, but then
- 55:42Speaker 1: my joke is baseball related.
- 55:44Speaker 3: It's alway.
- 55:44Speaker 1: It's always they're always like, yeah, that was a home
- 55:47Speaker 1: run or we I always.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Tell him like, yeah it's a double. There's a triple,
- 55:51Speaker 3: that we're not going to hit the home run, okay.
- 55:54Speaker 1: I don't like the conversations that are so quick where
- 55:56Speaker 1: it's like it was great, it was done, and it's
- 55:57Speaker 1: over now, especially with the lack of a lot events
- 56:00Speaker 1: in a sense of this is my moment. I want
- 56:02Speaker 1: to teach me something and we can learn stuff in
- 56:04Speaker 1: the ring and learn something that I need that all
- 56:07Speaker 1: day long.
- 56:08Speaker 2: It's a funny thing. Sometime town are coming back looking
- 56:13Speaker 2: you said it yesterday, like do we really need somebody
- 56:15Speaker 2: tell me that was good? I did? Right? Like did
- 56:19Speaker 2: I need that? Or I fucking was out there. I
- 56:21Speaker 2: knew like I knew I was doing. I know what
- 56:24Speaker 2: it stinks.
- 56:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I know when it's pretty good.
- 56:26Speaker 2: I know when it's really good. I know when it
- 56:28Speaker 2: was phenomenal. I might be asking about things I couldn't see, right, like, hey,
- 56:33Speaker 2: how did that come across? Because I can't see the
- 56:36Speaker 2: camera cuts. I can't see sure the moments, right, but
- 56:42Speaker 2: sort of you know, you know what I mean?
- 56:46Speaker 1: For that moment, I wanted to make it because there
- 56:48Speaker 1: was a lot of are you sure?
- 56:50Speaker 3: Are you yeah?
- 56:52Speaker 1: Because it felt one hundred percent real and we heard
- 56:55Speaker 1: them and we're still we're and we're I didn't want
- 56:59Speaker 1: the my dancing partner too. There there's a lot of critics,
- 57:04Speaker 1: and again I love hypercritical great, but it was funny.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I was basically saying something you say to me, or
- 57:10Speaker 1: actually Sean said to me much differently when I came
- 57:13Speaker 1: back from something and asked was it great?
- 57:16Speaker 3: And he went into me a little bit.
- 57:18Speaker 1: He had a bullshitter. You know you were out there.
- 57:20Speaker 1: You already know, you know, because it went awesome. Thankfully
- 57:23Speaker 1: he was talking. I was like, oh, got it fair enough.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I won't ask in those settings.
- 57:26Speaker 3: And he was.
- 57:27Speaker 4: He was one hundred percent right. He just sometimes talent
- 57:34Speaker 4: they just they want you to, yeah, tell them that
- 57:37Speaker 4: was great? Yeah, right, Like I know, I know it
- 57:40Speaker 4: was great. Everybody else said it was great. I want
- 57:42Speaker 4: to hear it from you. Yeah, tell me that was important. Yeah,
- 57:44Speaker 4: it's important. So you know, when when when stuff's a
- 57:48Speaker 4: home run. And look, there's times when for me, sometimes
- 57:53Speaker 4: you guys do something, I'm like stuck in the next thing,
- 57:55Speaker 4: trying to make sure that doesn't fall apart, because anytime
- 57:58Speaker 4: I walk away something else going on. I'm trying to
- 58:02Speaker 4: do that. And then I realized, like, hey, where'd they go?
- 58:04Speaker 4: Oh they left, They're gone.
- 58:05Speaker 2: Fuck all right, Now if I go chasing, it's that's
- 58:09Speaker 2: that's I Now I'm out of pocket for longer. Or
- 58:13Speaker 2: if I ask them to come back now, they're like, yes,
- 58:15Speaker 2: let's come back. But it must have been bad, like
- 58:17Speaker 2: you know, so it right. It's sometimes a tough scenario.
- 58:21Speaker 2: But when stuff is really good, I try to get
- 58:23Speaker 2: up and come over there. Either really good or really bad.
- 58:26Speaker 2: If I come up and come over to you, I'm
- 58:27Speaker 2: like feel like that's my that's my tael. Otherwise I'm
- 58:31Speaker 2: like in a pretty good place with everything. You know.

- 1:00:12Speaker 1: We talked about Bobby and being close to you and
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: the sponge and learning looking at the field now, it's
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: a whole new ballgame for WW in terms of you
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: and the chief content role in leading and directing the ship.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Do you see anyone in our current you know, and
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: all across the board producers? I mean that HQ people
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: don't realize the amount of talent. Adam Panucci's just sitting
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: in a room genius talent. You know, there's such talented
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: people just on every floor around there. Do you see
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: anyone that you think will help kind of lead the company?
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Because I've heard Bruce say it before, when Bruce is
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: not there, when Hayman is no longer around, when Michael
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: goes and we talked about Bobby, do you see others
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: in our current space?
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: I do, Yeah, I do. There's a certain passion for
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: the business that begins to I think you begin to
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: see it shift and the and the way that people
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: look at it differently, where it's it's not just about
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: me and what I do next, It's about the product
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: and what the product does next, and the questions that
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: are asked and the things that are asked. You know.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: I saw that with Bobby right it was a different
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: level of that. I see that in the now and
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: it's an interesting things like AJ Styles just retired. So
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: towards at the end, AJ was like, matter, you know,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: I don't want to just be done with the business.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: I want to be done wrestling. And I don't think
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: I'm betraying a confidence here, but even in his last match,
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: he was telling me like, I so know I'm done
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: because like I was out there in that last match
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: thinking like let's just get over with on, get to
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: the end. But he wants to participate in the business,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: right But being an agent or a producer, it's a
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: different world being being in what we do. There's different
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: fits for different people. AJ came in, he sat in
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: on some creative meetings, he sat in on some you know,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: production meetings, and I think he realized, like the writing
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: things not for me. The producer thing, I don't think
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: is for me. What I really like is getting to
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: these young kids and spotting talent and then trying to help,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: you know, fan the flames of the little spark that's
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: there and try to make them into something more the
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: developmental side. So great, let's utilize him in that and
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: grab those talents there. There are some guys that just
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: sort of get done the business and just want to
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: be done with it. They don't want to be on
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: the road, they don't want to be the hassle, they
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: don't want to all the the stuff. But I do
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: see a lot of you know, and it's your show,
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: and I'm not trying to blow smoke up your ears,
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: but like, go ahead, blow away. Not like you're one
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: of those guys that I believe as you come to
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: the end of your career, it behooves you to start
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: to pay attention to the other things. I remember very
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: early when vincen' and again I've never asked him about
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: I don't know why. I guess he just just if
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: he creatively saw like he's got a little something there,
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: and like, let's cultivate that. Okay, come to the production
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: meetings and we'll start talking about other things. And then
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: I know, I know that he told Pat mentor him
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: help him teach him. Same with Lanza. Once that started
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: for me, I very quickly realized, like, holy shit, I
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: know nothing about this business. I know this tip of
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: the iceberg of what I do as a performer. But
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: it's like saying, I'm a very good actor, but how
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: many actors become great directors or do other things in Hollywood?
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: Or how many great players make great coaches in sports?
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Like Nick talks to me about that all the time.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: I'm not the biggest sports guy, but Nick talks to
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: me about it all the time. A great player struggled
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: to become great coaches because they can't understand why people
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: just can't give it the way they did it. They
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: just don't get it. Let's just do this, you know,
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Like it's just not that simple for everybody, right. You
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: have to be able to get that greatness out of
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: them in a different way. Once you realize that, and
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: then you begin to become fascinated with that. If guys
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: will cultivate that and want to know and the other stuff.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: And you've asked me about it numerous times, which is
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: why I say, like, I know you're going to be
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: good at because you've asked me that numerous times. How
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: can I do this? How can I do that? I
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: also know the difficulties of being in the position you're
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: in as a talent and then trying to do the
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: other things, which is really difficult to do and not
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: have it change everybody's perception of you. But there was
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: a moment even for tak Her with me where when
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: you know, now he's in Mexico working on Triple A
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: and doing extremely well with it, but there's a moment
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: where he was talking to me about it and saying, like, man,
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: I used to think seeing you do all that stuff,
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: and why man, he spends all that time and he
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: doesn't have to do it, and he's like in there
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: and it's hours and time and frustration and all this stuff,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: and it's really the end of the day mostly making
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: most everybody ate him or you know, have a different
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: opinion of him. It's really like a detriment to him
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: in some manner. But he's just still doing it. Now.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: I look at it and go, I wish I'd have
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: done that, Yeah, because you have this skill set now
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: to where you're still so ingrained. And I say it
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: a bunch like this end of my career is almost
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: more gratifying to me than the other end of my career.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: Learning that stuff, this stuff, this all seems like it
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: goes on forever. Yeah, and it doesn't. And that's the
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: good old days thing, right, and the no one tells
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: you the good old days until after they were over,
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: and then you're like, fuck, that shit was great. I
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: wish I had paid more attention to it then. But
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: it's almost like while you're doing it, you've got to
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: be preparing for the other side, because very quickly there's
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: this moment where you're like, man, the top of it
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: passed me by. Now I'm on the downswing and I'm
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: a legend or whatever that is. But I'm here, but
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: I'm you know, I'm not. I'm not minding to go
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: the next level. Yeah, and in the plane and then
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: what happens when the plane lands. You want to try
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: to explore some of that skill set. Doesn't mean you
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: have to activate, it just means you have to explore
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: that so you know what it is, so that when
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: the time comes and for those guys like I try
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: to put things in their head of like how they
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: could do other things on the other side as sure
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: as the business moves on, but there are a lot
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: of guys that are so passionate about this, and it's
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: in a different way. You punk seth right that I
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: see this. When that day comes when you're like, I
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: don't want to take another bump and I don't want
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: to I don't want to be in that spot anymore. Great,
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: you know how to help other folks get there and
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: do it. And not everybody's going to be amazing at it,
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: but there's a spot in this. It's a big, big
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: wheel that keeps on going, and you want to be
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: a part of that wheel because I think the worst
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: thing in the world can be, not for everybody, but
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: can be what would be for me if one day
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: you just said, right, you're done, and then you just
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: go home and you're like, yeah, but now what do
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: I do? Right? I don't know what other skill set
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: do you have? Yeah? Right? And so it's there. It's
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: just cultivating it in guys and having them. You can't
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: make somebody do it though, they have to have to
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: want to step up and take it to the next place.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: It's wild to think about, oh, you're done. Because my
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: my acting coach, I remember him saying he was describing,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: you know, the craft in terms of acting and whatnot.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: But a lot of people were there for the of course,
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: want to be famous, want to get a big movie.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: That's all makes sense. But what he was saying is,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: you'll do much better if this is your life's work.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: You'll do much better if this is the whole thing,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: the whole enchilada, the entire thing. That commercial is taken
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: just as seriously as the big get that you're trying
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: to get. This is your life's work. You've learned from
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: every every step along the way. And just I couldn't
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: imagine I go home for two days and it's you.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: You've received some of my texts, but you think.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: About it, well, you know what drove me nuts when
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: I first came up here, trying to find your way, right,
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Like you find the people that you want to hang
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: out with. How you know some people think like how
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: I landed with the click right like, because I'd rode
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: with all these other people, And what I found out
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: really quickly is most of them want to get in
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: the car after the show's over it and never talk
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: about wrestling again. Sure, don't mention wrestling, don't talk about
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: the show, don't talk about anything about it. They just
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: want to drive to the next town, train whatever, do
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: whatever they're going to do, and there's no conversation of it.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: And I hated it. So I wanted to talk about so.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: I wanted to think about So I wanted to. I'd
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: watch every single you know, when when their matches over,
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: they'd be like, hey, let's get out of here. I'm like,
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: the hold on, there's three more matches. I want to
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: watch whole show. I want to. I was going to
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: the shows that I wasn't booked on because I just
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: wanted to see what was going on and take all
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: of it in. It drove me nuts when people didn't
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: want to engage in it when I got when the
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: first trip I took with keV Scott Kid take the
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: hospital excursions out of the equation and all that stuff,
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: but all we did was talk about wrestling, and Scott
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: would be the first guy to talk about it, but
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: he would say, can we just not talk about wrestling tonight?
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: One night? Can we just not talk about it? Great?
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: But before that, did anybody notice? In the third match,
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: and that's all we talked about the whole way right,
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Like I immediately in the car with those guys. Take
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: like I said, take all that other side stuff and
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: put it aside. It was just this moment where I
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: was like, dude, that's what I want to do. I
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: want to sit in the car and just dissect this
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: stuff right, wrong and different, but like that's I want
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: to be immersed in it.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: I almost stole something from fellow your your fellow Click
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: member Kevin Nash the other day, just because I've always
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: heard every now and then he'd come back and say
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: follow that or just that was, you know, like on
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: a not greade saying yeah, so confident about it, so
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: that you came.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: Back like fall out.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, good luck with that one. Yeah that was
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: you know, talk about good old days and all that stuff.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Everybody had a perspective. Sean had the worker's perspective. Kid
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: had like this indie worker perspective. Yeah. keV was like
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: keV thought of everything in like movie scenes. Scott was
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: like the basics. Scott would hit you with this like
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: let me get this straight, and then he would say
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: something so profound, simple but like profound that you were
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: like wow, yeah that makes no sense, or like holy shit,
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Like the levels of people's in that car was just
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: it was again talk about learning tree, right, Vince pat Lanza,
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: all those guys in that car. Then you know my
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: friendship with Regal and just all these different things just
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: all makes it, yeah what it is.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: I love a Regal post segment just because he'll talk
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: to you for quite some time. But every I always
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: tell you a man. He said something though that I
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: can never do that, and now I know I won't
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: do that again because it was so simple.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: Yep, but needed it.

- 1:13:27Speaker 3: Are you sure? Okay? Awesome? What do you want to
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: talk about? Myself? Weekly American Vodka.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: We like to consider ourselves the American Dream Team, and
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: I ask everyone who comes on the show, who makes
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: up your dream team? And often I have to throw
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: a qualifier in there, because at the first it was
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: all over the place, animals, sports teams. You can really
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: do anything with this. But also if it becomes difficult
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: to lock down, then sometimes I just say, hey, your
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: War Games team, your survivorcy, what is your team? Who's
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: going into this battle with you?
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: I guess what is the battle? Just life?
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Well, i'd say, because you get you brought it up
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: multiple times in a way that I think everyone in
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: here really thought the good old days. In our case,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: we're going into WrestleMania forty two and these these are
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: good days. Yeah, this is a this is an unbelievable time.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: So in this moment, who's coming with who is who is.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: There with you?
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: Leading, leading, leading this event, leading our event?
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: Well, I mean forgot that's a long list. Yeah, people,
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: you know. And and it's funny because as you even
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: say it throughout this entire interview, like you, well, you
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: lead this, you lead that. It's such a big team. Yeah,
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: And I don't even like that term sometimes of the leader.
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: It's yeah, it's the responsibility that at the end of
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: the day you have to make the final call when
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: it's you're the tiebreaker, whatever that is. You have to
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: set that final guidance. But it's such a team, and
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: there's so much nuance to making the team, even to
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: the point of, you know, you want to encourage people
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: to throw ideas out all the time, so you don't
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: want to ever ever not take you know, like, if
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: they're throwing out ten ideas, you want to take at
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: least a couple of them, because otherwise you're going to
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: just stop throwing stuff out there. Right. That's an important
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: lesson that I learned along the way too. There's a
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: moment when I look back, there was this moment where
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: a bunch of us were in a room and Vince
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: was there, famous meeting Indianapolis, and Vince took out a
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: roster and was like who leaves, who stays, And there
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: is a point in time when I was kind of newish, right,
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: like I didn't feel qualified to even be making that thing.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: But I remember there were some people on there that
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: their names came up. I remember one in particular, in
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: its Bam Bam bigelow. Yeah right, and man mam hated
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: the click. I think I don't know that anybody had
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: an issue with him per se, but he's just for
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: whatever reason, hat and his name came up and we
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: had all written down our stuff on paper and given
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: him to Vince, and he's like, you guys all unanimously
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: won him here. We're like, he's fucking really good. Yeah,
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: but he hates you guys, So what Like he's he's good.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: I want him on my team?
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, yeah, yeah, I.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Want him on the team. Yeah. It's not about you
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: don't like us, or it's not about it's like, he's
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: fucking good, so he should be here. There's some other
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: guys on there that we like a lot. I like
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: him as a person. Yeah that's a hard one, but yeah,
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: I like him as a person. But come or go
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: doesn't matter. You know, those are tough decisions to make.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: So when you say, who do I want on my
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: tea out. That list is long. It's a long list
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: of people, first and foremost Nick, you know, like, uh,
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: smartest business guy I've ever been around. Just just yeah,
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: like I couldn't I couldn't imagine the last few years
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: of trying to do this without doing it with him. Yeah,
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: even when you when you're unsure, when you're not positive,
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: like that that reassuring guidance that hey, you want to
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: relook at that, like where you're like you re look
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: at it and you're like, oh, yeah, that's good.
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: There's just he's just so good and he's such a
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: great business man but also such a fan of what
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: we do, and he has the the ability to look
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: at it from an outsider's perspective. Right. So, but man,
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: there's so much talent in this, whether it's producers, agents,
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: people at the office, people that I just I wouldn't
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: even want to make a list because the list would
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: be so long. Yeah, of people that I would want here.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: And to be honest, it really comes down to desire
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: to do this. This is so busy, you know how
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: it is. Yeah, you have to want it. You can't
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: be here fill in space, you can't just be phoning
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: it in. You've got to be all in and those
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: are the people you want in the foxhole with you.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you want a blind rank? You good with a
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: blind ranking? Yeah, this is my first. We've never done
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: a blind right, all right, this is a hell of
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: a moment. All right, Sure to be controversial. I think
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: we try to keep everything not controversial on list. But
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: then the one thing, like I did say that, Okay,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: we're going to blind rank. You have some of the
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: most iconic WrestleMania entrances of all.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: We're going to blind rank these. We have ten.
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: This is a random wort to blind rank. And where
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: do you think WrestleMania thirty you versus Daniel Bryan on
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: the ranking? That's you the throne, Charlotte and Alexa part
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: of that there, it is right there.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: Yeah, where's that one at?
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: It was like one or two. Yeah, it's just because
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: the imagery of it was so cool, the timing of it,
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: like this authoritarian figure against the sort of the guy
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: bucking the system. Yeah, b plus player plus the Charlotte,
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: Sasha Alexa. Like when this idea came up to do
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: this entrance, I was like, oh, can they you know,
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: can I use them to do this entrance because yeah,
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: but I wanted them to stand on that stage. I
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: remember saying it to them right before we walked out there,
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: like when you walk out there, like this will probably
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: the last time you ever get to walk out there
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: without the responsibility. If you're about to go have to
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: do what we do. But no, this is coming your way,
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: and just man, take that all in and feel it.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: You know. I love that.
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: Okay, So that's one or two.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: I'll put that at two.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: That's at two WrestleMania twenty five.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: That's you versus Randy or And I remember you're throwing
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: the sledgehammer through the media there.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: It is. Put that down around eight or so because
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: I almost slipped and killed myself when I threw the hammer.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: It was all wet on the floor, and I was
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: sure that I looked like, you know, like one of
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: those cartoon scenes where I was like and caught myself
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: and didn't fall, Like thank God I didn't fall, but.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: Like, yeah, I bet you that looked ridiculous. Okay, So
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: we've got that at eight. Restumated at thirty three, you
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: versus Seth Rollins. That is the the bike ride with
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: the police escort.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: And then of course got up there at three.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: That's a three.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: Yeah, steph with me. The police escort was like, yeah,
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: it was just cool, cool, cool visual entrance.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and then you did the thing where you
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: basically just put it in neutral, like you're not actually
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: or were you driving it.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: On the way down. Yeah no, I was driving it
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: all the way down.
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: There's motor vehicles and.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's tricky. Those those boss host Yeah trikes
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: also don't have gears like a motorcycle. Okay, they have
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: like two speeds. It's an auto. Nice, so you you
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: sort of got to put it in gear, but you
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: got to be careful with it because it's like crazy.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: So that's that's our number three. Yeah, okay, uh oh.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: WrestleMania twelve The Ultimate Warrior and this is your first WrestleMania.
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: I'll put that like I'll put that like a seven seven. Yeah, okay,
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: it's not the coolest of entrance entrances of all time,
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: but it's my first WrestleMania. I'm about to walk out
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: there with the Ultimate Warrior, yeah, which, you know, I
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: had a lot of people talk about that match over
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: time and all that, but like Vin's coming to me
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: at that point, in my career to say, hey, the
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: Ultimate Warrior is going to come back, but he's not
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: going to come back until the day of Mania, and
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: I want you to be the guy in there with him. Yeah,
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: and you're going to get to do all the media
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: and all that stuff, so this will be huge for you.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: I was like, dude, I worked sixty four straight days
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: before WrestleMania, every single day on a media tour and
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: in between shows and all that, just because I was like,
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: I'll do everything. Yeah. So you know, walking out there
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: WrestleMania facing the Ultimate Warrior was cool experience.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Also, that thing you came out of that stage, that
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: that entrance that was used for That's one of those
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: things like the Winged Eagle that at a certain point
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna get all pre work out up and send
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: you a text if we just did it, just did.
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: It from one night.
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: I'm telling you, Okay.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: It's a funny thing. Like that's where our business is.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Like you know, you're like, I'm gonna get pre work
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: out up, like you know.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Like, well, that's what I I always try to say,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: like because you know, sometimes you get the endorphins are
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: flowing to get super going and then you send something
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: and then an hour later you look at it.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: What was I thinking?
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: Because it's it's the hill you want to die on,
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: But also sometimes it's I don't want him thinking this
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: was my of all the things he pitched, you know.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: You know usually when I if I get supped from Michael,
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: I'm late and I'm like, what is this? Like, it's
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: there's a different reason for it wasn't pre it wasn't
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: pre workout.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: Oh god, we love Michael, all right.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: Uh Wrestleming twenty two that is you versus John Cena
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: and the.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: Throne.
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'll put this up there. What I say,
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: the other one was three. I'll put this up at four.
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: That's four.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: This is one of those ones where they first when
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: we should of first get into the like, yeah, hey,
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: you guys want to do some kind of like elaborate entrance.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I think this is where John does
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: the uh the Tommy gun.
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: Yeah, the Tommy gun with the mobsters on the car
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: and all that stuff and coming up from underneath the
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: ramp and all that. And I think punk was a
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: part of the interest.
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: Riding in the car.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and uh, you know, I'm backstage and this is
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: like this is all like last second, I don't see
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: the gear until the moment before the quick story on it.
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: The throne gets caught as I'm coming up, like the
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: throne gets stuck in the lift and it's like and
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: it's like stuck, and I'm thinking, like, holy fuck, I'm
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: gonna have to climb out of this hole, just like
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like this is the most
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: embarrassing thing. And just when I'm like panicking, like I
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: have to, I have to get out of the seat,
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: like Ellis is panicking next to me Toronto, and he
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: like pushed it over and it fit in the hole
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: and it like started going up again. I was going
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: like thank God, like this could have been the most
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: disastrous thing ever we have.
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: We've never talked about it in the midst of these
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: mind rankings.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: I think it is.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: You never once when I came back, asked me about
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: clearly taking your throne, making it imagery in my entrance
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: away from here, starting my own thing, and taking your
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: hammer to it.
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: Yeah you never.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: I saw it as your hammer because it was smaller
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: than mine. Okay, yeah, I know, look at I did
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: that kind of ship to It's like I remember when
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: people brought it to me and like shone at me,
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: and I was like, fuck you, all right, good for him,
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Like, that's the kind of
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: shit you do. You're trying to make a name for yourself,
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: You're trying to get out there, you're trying to do
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: some cool shit, trying to do some different stuff. But
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: believe me, if I would have thought there was malice
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: in it, and and and maybe indirectly there was some
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: of the time, I don't know, but like if I
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: would have thought there was any serious mouse and I
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: would have called you and said, hey, dude, it's like
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: are we okay? Like because I was I always you know,
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: I was so close to your dad, but then I
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: always felt like a connection to you and when you
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: were here, and it was difficult for me when you
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: left because I couldn't say, like I couldn't over the top,
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: get the fuck out of here and go go go
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: out there and make a name for yourself and make
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: yourself what you said it desirable and we'll fucking come
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: chasing after you and bring it back. And fucking sometimes
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: you to get out of the rut you're in, you
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: just gotta take yeah, just bite it off and go
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: in a different direction, make the left, turn right, and
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: it was so difficult. But during that time, I remember
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: thinking like, all right, that's that. That's that's getting out there,
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: that's being bold and making a statement.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: You did tell me because you said, you know, go
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: rattle the cages, and you kind of made yourself the
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: target for me to rattle in terms of the optics
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: of wrestling. And there was no malice for sure, because
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: this is after I won the Ring of Honor title. YEA,
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: one of the first texts I got back to was
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: yours congrats as I was walking to the hospital and
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: Lowell because my lip was busted open holding my first
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: world title, and yeah, no, I just know.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: It was one of those things where you see somebody
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: going off doing their own thing and having success, and
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, Cody, come on, get yourself in that spot. Yeah,
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: where where we're like, hey, we should go like I
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: don't know what he did different, but let's go get him. Yeah,
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: I'm glad the feeling is good on it versus because
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: I'm thinking, man, if he's mad about it, it's a
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: long road to whatever whatever the payoff is.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: He's waiting on that.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, how it's happening.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: No, man, I never even I never thought about anything
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: other than yeah, good for him, you know, go go
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: go get it.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Oh wrestling A thirty four you Steph, Kurt angle Rhnda.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: This is the separate bikes all in an all woman
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: biker gang.
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I might put this up as one just for
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: that moment right there. You know, I'm sort of at
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: the end here and I'm just enjoying the moments and
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: having the opportunity Kurt Ronda, Steph's going to be in there.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: Steph is like out of her mind, nervous, Like I
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: remember her thinking like how the fuck do you do
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: the water spit and coming to me like I got
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: we got to practice? Is I don't want to buy?
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you know the whole stream, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: Exactly, the whole thing, and and it was just such
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: the whole thing was just so cool and to be
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: able to do it with her.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, it's it's it's your tag team partner man.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: Thanks to you.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: That sorry, Yeah that Brandy be part of Russemania forty
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: and the same reason.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's it's don't get me started.
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, I had to get my estrogen checked after
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: the Hall of Fame.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: I don't have to do it again.
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: WrestleMania thirty one see you vers is the stinger, the terminator.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: So what would which also seems like the most unsafe
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: yeah platform, yeah.
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: No.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: You couldn't have got a tenpenny nail up my ass
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: at this point where I'm out there like it's that
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: thing's rattling around, it's shaking, and there's like a little
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: piece of thing holding me up there so I don't
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: fall off. This would have been so much more epically
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: cool that night. There's a couple of funny things on
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: this is one super cool that terminated the movie. They
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: come to me and ask like, hey, we want to
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: sponsor the entrance to the whole thing. I think the
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: first one that really gets fully like full baked sponsored nice.
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: Arnold does the read right Like, they're like, Arnold won't
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: do it. I said, like really, I'll call him. That's soon.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: I called him. He was like, Fucky, I'll do it, yeah, right,
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: Like he gets into doing it. Funny story is we
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: call to get all these props from the movie and
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: They're like sure. Then like a week and a half
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: before they're like, hey, we don't have any of those things.
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: Oh God, like there was oh robots, there was no
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: there was all cgi right, So we had to like
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: go to like a prop house and order every Terminator
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: robot that they ever made that you could buy and
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: and bring them to the point where the Terminator movie.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: Then when they did the red carpet for the movie,
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: called like, hey, can we borrow those robots into put
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: them on the red carpet and stuff? Right. The other
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: funny piece is Sting goes out. First, I'm down. You
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: know what it's like when you're down in the elevator.
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: You're in that pit. They hadn't rehearsed sting smoke, so
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: we're in there, it's windy. Sting's black smoke starts to go.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: That entire underneath the stage fills with smoke. But none
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: of us know what the fuck is going on. I
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: don't know if the shit's on fire. Should I get
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: the fuck out of this hole? Like everybody's panicking, nobody
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: can see shit. I mean, it was crazy, And then
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: all of a sudden, the lifts started going up. I
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: was like, I guess we're going you know what I mean,
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: but nobody knew what was going crazy.
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: Okay, the next one, so that was four.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: I'll put that at four. Okay that oh I thought
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: I put No, that's not four.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: No, you put area at four. All right, I'll put
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: this at five five or that.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: Yeah. See this is hard.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, and I feel bad to it.
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: WrestleMania twenty nine versus Brock Lesnar Giant Skullhead. And this
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: is also where you were explaining to me because that
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: Cryo can take it pece of.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: From time to time.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I always seem to have like cool entrges that
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: somehow don't turn out epically in my favorite Yeah, we
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: had rehearsed this, all gone great. I get in the
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: thing and they blow the smoke on me, and uh,
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: you know, first of all, I'm about to go face Brock,
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: which is you know, I love working with Brock. Yeah,
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: and it's physical, very and uh, I'm about to go
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: do that. And you know, I'm getting older here, and uh,
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: I'm standing in that smoke and all of a sudden,
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: as the smoke's it's a blow, I realize, Hey, this
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: is really burning, like it didn't I don't recall it burning,
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: and the rehearsals like this, and now I'm like, it's
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: really burning. I got to get out of here. And
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: I step out of it and it like, you know,
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: you can hear shit internally in your body, like I
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: can hear myself sizzling over the music, like I can
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: hear a sizzling sound, And I Am like, what is
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: that like? And I start to walk in and I
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: realize like I'm still burning, and I don't I'm walking down,
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: but I'm in like the zone and I don't realize
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: what it is until Brock is like looking at me
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: from the ring like and He's like, is on you?
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh shit, like I have stuff all
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: stuck to me and it had burnt the ship out
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: of my skin, one of those things.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: Where's that one go?
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: What I got left? I'll go ten?
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you're I think you made the right call.
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: The next the next one You've got these are going
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: to be two back to back. You've got rest so
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: Mania thirty five, Batista, this is Mad Max. It's right
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: into the ring on the the post apocalyptic vehicle.
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: Yeah, this was a weird one, cool imagery, a little
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: weird when I got left six.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: I don't go nine nine, all right? And I think
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: that I think that probably was the right call because
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: this is you twenty one also versus Batista Motorhead is
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: I was playing you down in.
- 1:33:28Speaker 3: The ring pretty high, Yeah that one.
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And I totally not even thinking about this one. Yeah.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: Like this for me, you know, it was a huge
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: Motorhead fan, grown up. They do my music. It's epic.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: They get to play me there. It's classically Motorhead, like
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: they are so out of their minds. Yeah that I
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: don't think lim saying one actual lyric like that. The
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: rehearsals were so bad that and done came to me.
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: It was like, should we just kill this whole thing? Yeah?
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: And I'm like they hadn't They hadn't gotten right yet,
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: you know what I mean. They were just hung over
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: from the night before and stuff and and uh, Kevin
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: was like, it's this is horrible and should we just
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: kill it? I was like, I think, once they get
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: straight before the gig, it'll be okay. And it was.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: It was epically powerful. This is the lesson of it's
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: not what you say, it's how you say it. Like
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: it was just yea. And for me coming up with
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: those guys there and all, it was just really really cool.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: And Len was such a good friend that you know,
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: it meant even more incredible.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Thank you for indulging that, of course. But also this
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: went very long, as when talking about wrestling, it often
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: happens and goes.
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: Yeah and and and it's a funny thing because you
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: talked about at the very beginning like them wanting to
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: do and it taking so long because I never wanted
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: to go like, yeah, I have an hour here. It's
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: not going to go an hour. You and I are
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: going to start talking and bullshit and it's long and
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: it's going to be fun. And you know, thanks for
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: thanks for making it easy.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: No, thank you, thank you, And I'm very excited again
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: this is wrestling many forty two and up against our
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: own records as as as we are saying here, and
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: I'm very very just this is it's an honor to
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: be on this team and I'm excited to see where
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: we go. And this was just an absolute treat for me.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: So thank you very much.
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: For and you know, we touched on it briefly, but
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: the position that you're in was not easy, right, and
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: people will tell you shit your whole career, NEPO baby whatever,
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: fuck them. Yeah, you earned this and then some You
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: are one of the most diligent guys in that locker
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: room of wanting it to be right, with no stone unturned.
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: You think about it NonStop. You're so engaged in it,
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: and it's never really just about you. It's about the
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: company and the product as a whole, which makes you
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: a dream to work with. It really is. And I
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: don't want this to sound in some way like I'm
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: talking down to you because of the position that you're in,
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: but I'm proud of you and for all of it,
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: for gambling on yourself, for taking that step that ninety
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: nine point nine percent of the people in the world
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: wouldn't do to get to where you are, and doing
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: it in a way that every single step of the
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: way you did it the right way and in a
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: way that would make anybody, especially your dad, proud.
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: H Well, thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen. What
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: do you want to talk about treble? H oh hey guys, Thanky,
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: Thanks
