- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to South Carolina's Morning News with Kelly Nash.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And good morning to you, Christopher Thompson. Glad to have
- 0:07Speaker 2: you along as well this morning.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Appreciate that.
- 0:10Speaker 2: And we're I'm looking at the front page of the
- 0:12Speaker 2: state newspaper and headline over a third of I think,
- 0:18Speaker 2: I don't know if they meant to say, well, I
- 0:20Speaker 2: guess it does say over a third of the South's
- 0:23Speaker 2: LGBTQ plus may be planning to move. Where does South
- 0:28Speaker 2: Carolina stand? And the story goes on to say thirty
- 0:32Speaker 2: two percent of LGBTQ individuals say they plan on leaving
- 0:36Speaker 2: the South to find more LGBTQ plus friendly state. South
- 0:43Speaker 2: Carolina has continued to outpace the country when it comes
- 0:48Speaker 2: to population growth, but we are apparently losing the LGBTQ
- 0:55Speaker 2: plus community. And they start quoting personally, who is this
- 0:58Speaker 2: person here? Some elected leaders, not all of whom are
- 1:02Speaker 2: very outspoken about creating a version of this state that
- 1:05Speaker 2: does not welcome people like me and my family and
- 1:07Speaker 2: my children. Somebody named Peel, oh Ashley Peel, executive director
- 1:13Speaker 2: of something called the APHA Action Group, which is an
- 1:18Speaker 2: LGBTQ policy advocacy organization, She goes on to say that
- 1:22Speaker 2: sort of hostility is hard to balance with how much
- 1:25Speaker 2: pride I have for being born and raised in North
- 1:27Speaker 2: Charleston and being from the state of South Carolina. I'm
- 1:33Speaker 2: genuinely shocked to hear that they feel as if there's
- 1:40Speaker 2: some sort of legislative move to make their lives more difficult.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I'm unaware of any laws that we've passed to make
- 1:49Speaker 2: life difficult for gay or lesbian or trans people.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Are you aware of any Well, I think they're pointing
- 1:56Speaker 4: to the bathroom bill, that they're pointing to conversion therapy
- 1:59Speaker 4: being can sold, and I think, I mean, I read
- 2:06Speaker 4: the article. I skimmed the article. I should say, I
- 2:09Speaker 4: was really all that interested, to tell you the truth.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Yeah, it's you know, I mean, there.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Are plenty of people who will full welcome here if
- 2:17Speaker 4: they don't, But I don't think we've made a huge
- 2:19Speaker 4: move as a state to make anyone feel unwelcome.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, when I think of South Carolina, it
- 2:24Speaker 2: is one of well, to me, it was the most
- 2:28Speaker 2: welcoming state. Like I said the other day, you know,
- 2:30Speaker 2: I was I was one of those people trying to
- 2:33Speaker 2: escape the North, where I did not feel welcome because
- 2:36Speaker 2: they wanted all of my money. But on top of it,
- 2:39Speaker 2: there was just a whole bunch of people who didn't
- 2:42Speaker 2: think like me at all and were very outspoken against
- 2:47Speaker 2: people who might even just be Centrists. In New York,
- 2:50Speaker 2: if you were a Centrist, you were an odd ball
- 2:53Speaker 2: and made to feel that way. Now. I mean, I
- 2:57Speaker 2: know gay lesbian people who go to my church. Our
- 3:00Speaker 2: pastor doesn't say that what they're doing is correct, but
- 3:04Speaker 2: he points out that we're all sinners and that we
- 3:06Speaker 2: all fall short, and that's why we all need Jesus.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I know we. I mean, you and I have had
- 3:12Speaker 2: multiple coworkers in this office that are gays. Sure, I
- 3:17Speaker 2: don't know of any culture that's being created to make
- 3:20Speaker 2: them feel like they shouldn't be in our state. It's
- 3:24Speaker 2: I mean, I guess we're now at a point where
- 3:28Speaker 2: America can divide itself on anything. I mean, I can't
- 3:33Speaker 2: imagine when they were drawing this up two hundred and
- 3:36Speaker 2: fifty years ago that there was going to be a
- 3:38Speaker 2: point where they were like, oh, and then there's going
- 3:41Speaker 2: to be states that are very pro homosexual, and they're
- 3:44Speaker 2: going to try to lure people into their states. So
- 3:49Speaker 2: this is the Great American Experiment has now hit another
- 3:52Speaker 2: level where we're now marketing ourselves as a state that's
- 3:55Speaker 2: very pro gay or a state that's very pro tax friendly.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I mean some of the more traditional things like pro
- 4:01Speaker 2: tax friendly or more you know, uh, welcoming for firearms
- 4:06Speaker 2: or those types of things that would have I think
- 4:08Speaker 2: always been part of the Great American Experiment. But this, this,
- 4:12Speaker 2: this is a new angle. This this idea that you know,
- 4:16Speaker 2: they're pointing out that they want to move to Portland, Oregon,
- 4:19Speaker 2: they want to move to Seattle, Washington. They want to
- 4:21Speaker 2: move they want to move to Chicago. My gosh, I can't.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Who feels safe there?
- 4:27Speaker 2: This is what I'm saying. I mean, there's nobody safe
- 4:29Speaker 2: in Chicago.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Well, I think there's a difference though.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I mean, you talk about the bathroom bill, for example,
- 4:35Speaker 4: that the trans community sees that as anti trans, when
- 4:39Speaker 4: I think most of us see that as pro protecting
- 4:41Speaker 4: our children.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yes, yes, and and yeah. And by the way, just
- 4:47Speaker 2: inside the LGBTQ plus community, there is a little civil
- 4:51Speaker 2: war happening in there about the trans and the trade.
- 4:55Speaker 2: What I would I guess reference as traditional gay people
- 4:58Speaker 2: who don't think that the Frans community is part of
- 5:01Speaker 2: the lgbt Q. Well, I guess by definition l lesbian, gay,
- 5:06Speaker 2: bisexual tran they they got the T. I still have
- 5:10Speaker 2: not figured out what queer means. I don't I don't
- 5:13Speaker 2: know what the differences between queer and gay, and and
- 5:16Speaker 2: the plus is that when is that? Like the the
- 5:20Speaker 2: lady from Canada who went viral a couple of months ago.
- 5:23Speaker 2: When she started, she threw in like the spirit people
- 5:26Speaker 2: or something like that. Lgbt Q s ssp Q two
- 5:29Speaker 2: our group, I mean, and to her it just rolled
- 5:33Speaker 2: off the tonguecause they've been using that in Canada for
- 5:35Speaker 2: like a decade now. So I guess we'll just keep
- 5:37Speaker 2: broadening the definition. But again, if you, if you, if
- 5:41Speaker 2: you're a gay lesbian person who happens to be waking
- 5:44Speaker 2: up and listening to our radio station, I like the
- 5:48Speaker 2: fact that you're in our state. I'm not anti you.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I'm not anti any of this stuff. I just know
- 5:55Speaker 2: it's not for me. And I don't think, as you
- 5:57Speaker 2: were saying, we don't want it preached to the chill
- 6:00Speaker 2: children in schools. You don't want when you start talking
- 6:03Speaker 2: about like the books that got banned quote unquote banned.
- 6:06Speaker 2: And that's a funny word to use because they're still
- 6:08Speaker 2: available at every bookstore. You're still available on Amazon. It's
- 6:11Speaker 2: not a book band, it's just not in a school library.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But those are very sexually oriented books that are trying
- 6:18Speaker 2: to promote what we'll call an alternative lifestyle. But even
- 6:22Speaker 2: the ones that are very sexual books geared towards just
- 6:25Speaker 2: children in general. We don't want that in the school libraries.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Absolutely not.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So are we anti heterosexual as well? I I, oh
- 6:36Speaker 2: my gosh, it's I don't know. I hate to see
- 6:38Speaker 2: Americans try to come up with new ways to divide themselves.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I would love to see us start trying to figure
- 6:43Speaker 2: out more ways to unite ourselves. And that's I have
- 6:45Speaker 2: loved the World Cup. Christopher. Did we have a game
- 6:48Speaker 2: last night?
- 6:49Speaker 3: We did?
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah. I guess we'll get that in the sports update.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear about that and more. In
- 6:54Speaker 2: any of your thoughts on what's going on today, whether
- 6:57Speaker 2: you want to talk about the division of South Carolina
- 6:59Speaker 2: by elder GBTQ plus IA people who don't feel welcome here,
- 7:03Speaker 2: or you want to talk about maybe what's going on
- 7:05Speaker 2: at the State House. I got some breaking news late
- 7:07Speaker 2: yesterday from Bill Shanahan, your old pal, and so some
- 7:10Speaker 2: maybe big news in Lexington County. Lots of stuff happening.
- 7:14Speaker 2: This is South Carolina's morning news.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Your news, traffic, weather and information stations. This is South
- 7:21Speaker 1: Carolina's morning News on one O three point five FM,
- 7:25Speaker 1: five sixty AM WVOC, and ninety four to three wsc
- 7:31Speaker 1: now Kelly Nash.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Good morning. Last night, I went to a birthday party.
- 7:36Speaker 2: If you check my social media pages, I was told
- 7:39Speaker 2: that the outfits were supposed to be garden chic. I've
- 7:43Speaker 2: never heard of that term.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Christopher garden chic would have no idea what to wear.
- 7:47Speaker 2: So if you look on my Facebook or Instagram account,
- 7:51Speaker 2: I or my ex account, I posted the photo. Did
- 7:54Speaker 2: I pull off garden sheek last night? I tried? I
- 7:57Speaker 2: don't know. I'm getting mixed reviews this morning, but I
- 8:00Speaker 2: don't know that you all know what garden sheek means either,
- 8:02Speaker 2: so perhaps your opinion is wrong. But anyway, but I
- 8:07Speaker 2: was not home last night to watch, as I'm sure
- 8:09Speaker 2: all of you do, the CNN Abby Hoffman Show with
- 8:13Speaker 2: Scott Jennings. Let's say I'm going to try to play
- 8:16Speaker 2: a little clip of it here. Let me see if
- 8:17Speaker 2: I can play this. Don't you all want to know? So?
- 8:22Speaker 2: And by the way, what they're arguing over is Scott
- 8:25Speaker 2: Jennings is talking about the fact that tomorrow night, Donald
- 8:28Speaker 2: Trump says he's going to present to the nation proof
- 8:32Speaker 2: that foreign governments are interfering with government elections, and he
- 8:38Speaker 2: again asks the question, almost incredulously, don't you all want
- 8:42Speaker 2: to know? You all want to know?
- 8:49Speaker 5: The answer to that question, honestly is no, don't perfect.
- 8:54Speaker 2: The journalist says, if the President of the United States
- 8:58Speaker 2: has information from the Sea and the FBI and other
- 9:01Speaker 2: intelligence agencies that we do have governments, foreign governments interfering
- 9:07Speaker 2: with our elections, we don't want to know about it.
- 9:11Speaker 2: That is the official CNN position, I guess today. So
- 9:15Speaker 2: when you talk about their reporting moving forward, understand that
- 9:19Speaker 2: they are coming from a bias of we don't want
- 9:22Speaker 2: to hear this, we don't want to know about it,
- 9:25Speaker 2: which is an unbelievable position I would think for a
- 9:29Speaker 2: journalist to take. Have you ever heard of a journalist saying, yeah,
- 9:34Speaker 2: don't want to see the facts.
- 9:36Speaker 4: It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, especially when
- 9:38Speaker 4: we're head and shoulders going towards the midterms.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't want to hear about it, though that's
- 9:44Speaker 2: a problem if you presented proof that there was government's temper.
- 9:48Speaker 2: And by the way, isn't it The Democrats position has
- 9:50Speaker 2: always been for at least five ten years now, the
- 9:54Speaker 2: number one issue to protect is democracy, right, and we
- 9:57Speaker 2: have talked about how when you allow foreign illegal aliens
- 10:01Speaker 2: to vote in your election, you're actually destroying democracy because
- 10:05Speaker 2: the democracy for the federal elections. I understand state elections
- 10:09Speaker 2: can be different, but at the federal level, the only
- 10:11Speaker 2: votes that are allowed to count are that of a
- 10:14Speaker 2: US citizen. And what you're doing in California and these
- 10:17Speaker 2: other states where you're allowing illegal aliens to vote in
- 10:21Speaker 2: local elections. We then also have to trust that they
- 10:24Speaker 2: understand that they're not supposed to vote for the senator.
- 10:27Speaker 2: They're not supposed to vote for or the president. They're
- 10:31Speaker 2: not supposed to vote for the House members. They're just
- 10:34Speaker 2: on the honor system. Everybody knows that's a lie. So
- 10:37Speaker 2: when they vote in that election, you've neutralized the vote
- 10:41Speaker 2: of somebody else who is an American citizen. So you've
- 10:43Speaker 2: already started an attack on democracy. And then You've add
- 10:47Speaker 2: in this idea that there's foreign governments tampering with the elections,
- 10:50Speaker 2: and we haven't even heard the proof yet. That's coming
- 10:54Speaker 2: tomorrow night, nine o'clock. Donald Trump's got a national press
- 10:57Speaker 2: conference before he even presents his proof. You, as a
- 11:02Speaker 2: news outlet, have said, we don't care, we don't want
- 11:06Speaker 2: to hear it. We like the way things are going swimmingly.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Of course they do.
- 11:11Speaker 4: They have a lot of wins to chalk up to
- 11:14Speaker 4: what has happened so far. They don't want to hear it.
- 11:17Speaker 2: It's amazing they're not even hiding the ball. I was
- 11:20Speaker 2: just thinking about that as Karen Bass yesterday was trying
- 11:23Speaker 2: to talk over the mob who is outraged over the
- 11:27Speaker 2: latest fire that they had I think like two weeks
- 11:29Speaker 2: ago in La and this was a massive meat processing
- 11:32Speaker 2: plant where they haven't even begun the cleanup really, and
- 11:36Speaker 2: according to the KABC, there's eighty five million pounds of
- 11:43Speaker 2: rotting meat now and you can only imagine how many
- 11:47Speaker 2: flies are out there. And they're reporting on that, and
- 11:50Speaker 2: Karen Bass is telling the people who live in that community,
- 11:54Speaker 2: this has been debunked. There's not these flies, this is
- 11:57Speaker 2: not happening. So what are you gonna do. You're gonna
- 12:01Speaker 2: replace Karen Bass with who na he a Sulman or
- 12:04Speaker 2: whatever her name is, the Democrat socialist? Do you want
- 12:06Speaker 2: to go further left? They've rigged that election. I have
- 12:09Speaker 2: no doubt about it that Spencer Pratt was going to
- 12:13Speaker 2: be the other alternative, but you've removed him from the opportunity. Look,
- 12:19Speaker 2: it's I've always said, if there's somebody joking about something repeatedly,
- 12:25Speaker 2: there's usually some sort of little bit of truth in it.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I was a boy in the seventies, and I remember
- 12:32Speaker 2: the jokes of Chicago says, vote early and often right
- 12:37Speaker 2: when I die, don't let me continue to vote Democrat
- 12:41Speaker 2: or whatever. Remember remember my dying words. If I die
- 12:44Speaker 2: in Chicago, I did not register as a Democrat. That
- 12:47Speaker 2: those jokes have been around for fifty plus years. There's
- 12:51Speaker 2: always a hint of truth in the fact that Democrats,
- 12:54Speaker 2: they don't claim Republicans rig elections. That's not been the
- 12:58Speaker 2: jokes for fifty years. It has been that about Democrats.
- 13:02Speaker 2: There's always been this suspicion, and there's usually a hint
- 13:05Speaker 2: of truth in the suspicion. The fact that Donald Trump,
- 13:08Speaker 2: the president, says we have intelligence now that shows that
- 13:11Speaker 2: foreign nationals are interfering in our elections, and you don't
- 13:15Speaker 2: even want to hear it. Is one of the most
- 13:17Speaker 2: stunning revelations I can ever imagine a journalist saying, imagine
- 13:21Speaker 2: sixty minutes back in the day, Mike Wallace or one
- 13:24Speaker 2: of those guys, and here comes the proof. I don't
- 13:26Speaker 2: want to hear. Shut that down. Let's talk about something else.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Why are Republicans continuing to beat their wives?
- 13:35Speaker 3: Talk about a threat to democracy?
- 13:36Speaker 4: I mean, that's and the question is now, is Trump
- 13:40Speaker 4: going to focus only on Georgia or is there going
- 13:43Speaker 4: to be some type of and is he going to
- 13:47Speaker 4: go back to twenty twenty and is he going to
- 13:49Speaker 4: rehash those old arguments, or you know, are we going
- 13:52Speaker 4: to focus on the future. I think most Americans are
- 13:55Speaker 4: no longer concerned with twenty twenty, but they would be
- 13:58Speaker 4: very concerned about what is happening in the current elections.
- 14:01Speaker 2: My hope would be he's going to move forward with it.
- 14:04Speaker 2: My belief is he's probably going to revert back to
- 14:08Speaker 2: twenty twenty. He'll even go back to twenty sixteen, probably
- 14:13Speaker 2: look strategically bad move. If that's what happens tomorrow night.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Because Georgia is in legitimate play right now. John ass
- 14:22Speaker 2: Off is starting to lose in polls. You can swing
- 14:26Speaker 2: that Senate seat. You're going to probably win big. At
- 14:29Speaker 2: the governor's level. You got a billionaire who's willing to
- 14:32Speaker 2: spend whatever it takes to make sure that he wins
- 14:34Speaker 2: the governorship. You're going to be right now, Kemp and
- 14:37Speaker 2: Trump are kind of in line. Don't ruin this. That
- 14:43Speaker 2: would be my strategic hope. But we'll see tomorrow. But
- 14:47Speaker 2: I do. I'm at least interested in hearing what the
- 14:49Speaker 2: president has to say. And I would say that about
- 14:50Speaker 2: any president. If they say they got proof of some
- 14:53Speaker 2: sort of election fraud, we should hear about it. Maybe
- 14:55Speaker 2: you feel differently, let us know at the talkback feature
- 14:58Speaker 2: on the iHeartRadio app. It is South care Rolina's Morning News.
- 15:01Speaker 1: This is South Carolina's Morning News on one O three
- 15:04Speaker 1: point five FM and five sixty AM WVOC, Columbia and
- 15:10Speaker 1: ninety four to three WSC Charleston.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Now, Kelly Nash.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yesterday, Darlene Graham, Nordon sworn in, and now the fight
- 15:20Speaker 2: for who's going to win the Lindsey Graham seat took
- 15:24Speaker 2: a weird turn yesterday as one of the South Carolina
- 15:27Speaker 2: House members posted something online that went viral. And we'll
- 15:31Speaker 2: talk about some of that incredible pushback that they're receiving
- 15:34Speaker 2: this morning, and what did they say. We got that
- 15:37Speaker 2: in more as we get into South Carolina's morning news.
- 15:40Speaker 5: From the Midlands to the low Country.
- 15:42Speaker 1: This is South Carolina's morning news on one O three
- 15:46Speaker 1: point five FM and five sixty AM WVOC and ninety
- 15:50Speaker 1: four three WSC. Now here's Kelly Nash.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I guess that was Chuck Grassley signing in Darlen Graham
- 15:58Speaker 2: nordone yesterday and it was unfortunately they had some sort
- 16:02Speaker 2: of like microphone challenges. You would think, come on, man,
- 16:05Speaker 2: do how much money to taxpayers pay? We can't get
- 16:07Speaker 2: a good mic up there for God's sakes. Anyway, that's
- 16:11Speaker 2: Christopher Thompson. I'm Kelly Nash. I hope you're having a
- 16:13Speaker 2: great start to your day. And now the move for
- 16:16Speaker 2: who will replace Darlene Graham nordone in January is on
- 16:22Speaker 2: yesterday a House member here in South Carolina, Congressman William Timmins,
- 16:28Speaker 2: who represents the Greenville Spartanburg area District four, he posted
- 16:33Speaker 2: quote there has been speculation about whether I will seek
- 16:37Speaker 2: to replace Senator Lindsey Graham on the ballot this November.
- 16:39Speaker 2: My focus today is not on politics. It's about mourning
- 16:42Speaker 2: the loss of my friend and celebrating the life of
- 16:44Speaker 2: one of South Carolina's greatest public servants. Unfortunately, the speculation
- 16:48Speaker 2: has reached a point where I owe the people of
- 16:50Speaker 2: South Carolina a straightforward explanation. Unless the South Carolina General
- 16:55Speaker 2: Assembly changes state law, any current member of Congress already
- 17:00Speaker 2: on the ballot for reelection who is elected to replace
- 17:03Speaker 2: Senator Graham would leave their House seat vacant on January third,
- 17:07Speaker 2: twenty twenty seven. I have told Speaker Johnson that I
- 17:10Speaker 2: will not do anything that increases the number of votes
- 17:14Speaker 2: he must secure to be re elected Speaker in January.
- 17:18Speaker 2: At a time when every seat matters, protecting our Republican
- 17:21Speaker 2: majority is more important than any individual's political future. It's
- 17:25Speaker 2: the only way we can continue delivering President Trump's agenda
- 17:29Speaker 2: for the American people. So far, I think everybody's like,
- 17:33Speaker 2: that's awesome. Yay, golf clap, golf clap. Then comes in
- 17:37Speaker 2: the final lines. I also would like to say this plainly,
- 17:41Speaker 2: I cannot support Ralph Norman or Nancy Mace as Senator
- 17:46Speaker 2: Lindsey Graham's successor. This is not personal, It's about what
- 17:49Speaker 2: South Carolina deserves. Senator Graham's seat should simply or should
- 17:54Speaker 2: not simply be filled. His legacy should be honored. Now
- 17:59Speaker 2: that has led to what in the world is he
- 18:01Speaker 2: talking about? Senator Graham's seat should not simply be filled?
- 18:05Speaker 2: A lot of people are interpreting that is, are you
- 18:09Speaker 2: suggesting that we just leave it open? I think what
- 18:12Speaker 2: he's saying is you need to not just get a
- 18:15Speaker 2: regular person to be the senator. You need to be
- 18:20Speaker 2: somebody who could be a leader, like Lindsey Graham. But
- 18:23Speaker 2: Lindsay Graham didn't go in as a leader.
- 18:25Speaker 3: It's someone in Lindsey Graham's mold.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah. But the pushback online from not as much the
- 18:34Speaker 2: Nancy may supporters, although there are many in here, but
- 18:38Speaker 2: the Ralph Norman crew is beyond irate. This post has
- 18:44Speaker 2: gone literally national viral. So this is like one of
- 18:49Speaker 2: the top fifteen posts of the last twenty four hours,
- 18:52Speaker 2: just because there's so much engagement with basically Ralph Norman
- 18:56Speaker 2: supporters who cannot believe that you've come on out and said,
- 18:59Speaker 2: you're not you would you're unable to support Ralph Norman.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Why why could you not support Ralph Norman's And he
- 19:06Speaker 2: does not clarify why he could not support Ralph Norman,
- 19:11Speaker 2: just left it there.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Pretty incredible from one of the lower profile members of
- 19:15Speaker 4: Congress to make that much news yesterday, but he did.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and I get I would love to have mister
- 19:22Speaker 2: Timmins explain his position. Look, I don't mean to diminish
- 19:27Speaker 2: Nancy Mason anyway, but I think most of us can
- 19:31Speaker 2: understand why you would think she might not be the
- 19:34Speaker 2: perfect fit for the well, the upper chamber, you know,
- 19:39Speaker 2: that's where the gravitas is, that's where you know, people
- 19:43Speaker 2: with very dignified speech rule the day. But Ralph Norman,
- 19:49Speaker 2: I think, And I'm not endorsing Ralph Norman. I just
- 19:52Speaker 2: don't see what the problem would be if he was elected.
- 19:56Speaker 2: And I'm wondering if mister Timmins, if you're not endorsing anybody,
- 20:01Speaker 2: do you have a list of a short list of
- 20:03Speaker 2: suggested people or did you actually mean Senator graham seat
- 20:08Speaker 2: should not be filled? If that's what you mean, that's crazy. Anyway,
- 20:15Speaker 2: We'll try to get into maybe We're reaching out to
- 20:17Speaker 2: the mister Timmins office to get an update on that.
- 20:19Speaker 2: You're getting your day started with South Carolina's Morning.
- 20:22Speaker 5: News live from the state Capitol.
- 20:25Speaker 1: This is South Carolina's Morning News with Kelly Nash.
- 20:29Speaker 2: You know, I remember, I think it was Arizona and
- 20:33Speaker 2: Texas during the Biden administration tried to secure their borders
- 20:40Speaker 2: because all of the illegal immigration that the federal government
- 20:44Speaker 2: was allowing to happen. And Christopher, you remember they got
- 20:47Speaker 2: sued over that.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Oh sure, they lost. In course, states can't do that.
- 20:52Speaker 4: It was the constitutional issue.
- 20:55Speaker 2: So insane. So today we see in Texas the Health
- 21:01Speaker 2: and Human Service Commission has begun cracking down on birth tourism.
- 21:06Speaker 2: So this is a direct a directive from Greg Abbott.
- 21:10Speaker 2: It'll be very interesting to see will anybody sue them,
- 21:14Speaker 2: because this is you know, again, the Supreme Court just
- 21:18Speaker 2: upheld this this idea that if you can get into
- 21:21Speaker 2: America and be born, then you get all the privileges
- 21:25Speaker 2: of being a US citizen. They're now in Texas trying
- 21:28Speaker 2: to make sure that it can't happen. They've got a
- 21:30Speaker 2: bunch of different things that they're doing to implement that
- 21:34Speaker 2: is this going to be challenged at the Supreme Court
- 21:36Speaker 2: level and found to be unconstitutional that we're blocking women
- 21:40Speaker 2: from coming into Texas to give birth.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Well, the good news for them is this time around,
- 21:44Speaker 4: they've got friends in the federal government who will work
- 21:46Speaker 4: with them on programs like this instead of working against them.
- 21:50Speaker 2: We need this all across the country, don't we. We
- 21:53Speaker 2: need the Texas Health and Human Services to start going
- 21:56Speaker 2: to Illinois and New York and Massachusetts and all these
- 21:59Speaker 2: other places. But this is a this could be a
- 22:02Speaker 2: crazy story. I'm happy to see that the Greg Abbott
- 22:05Speaker 2: and the crew in Texas have taken this action because
- 22:07Speaker 2: they're probably the ones most directly impacted by it. I'd
- 22:10Speaker 2: like to see South Carolina do it. I wonder how
- 22:12Speaker 2: many you know? Do we know of any birth tourism
- 22:14Speaker 2: happening here? We'll try to figure that out. Major policy
- 22:18Speaker 2: shift at ICE was announced yesterday. Will break that down
- 22:22Speaker 2: coming up on South Carolina's Morning News.
- 22:24Speaker 1: You're listening to South Carolina's Morning News with Kelly Nash.
- 22:29Speaker 2: You know the ICE shootings. The pushback has been so
- 22:37Speaker 2: monumental that US ICE and Customer for Immigration and Customer
- 22:42Speaker 2: Enforcement officials announced yesterday they're ending quote most vehicle stops
- 22:49Speaker 2: nationwide effective immediately. I hate to hear this, Christopher. I mean,
- 22:57Speaker 2: they have been doing so well, but you know, you've
- 23:00Speaker 2: had a couple of incidents here in the last couple
- 23:02Speaker 2: of weeks. You had one in Maine. Was that over
- 23:04Speaker 2: the weekend? I think, I think so, and then Texas
- 23:07Speaker 2: last week.
- 23:08Speaker 4: So we're blaming ICE because these illegals use their cars
- 23:12Speaker 4: as weapons against ICE agents.
- 23:16Speaker 2: It would appear, so I think that we didn't have
- 23:20Speaker 2: bodycam footage on one of them at least, and they're
- 23:23Speaker 2: very upset about that, and it's taking a little bit
- 23:25Speaker 2: longer than some had anticipated to roll out the body
- 23:28Speaker 2: cams for all agents. Monday, it was when an ICE
- 23:33Speaker 2: agent killed a man and I think it's pronounced Bedford
- 23:36Speaker 2: or Bidford Maine and Angus King, the Senator from Maine,
- 23:42Speaker 2: said that he was told by Mark Wayne Mullen that
- 23:45Speaker 2: the man killed was not the intended target of the
- 23:48Speaker 2: arrest warrant, but federal agents had been looking at an
- 23:52Speaker 2: illegal alien with a final order of removal and that's
- 23:56Speaker 2: where they were targeting. It seems as if this other
- 23:59Speaker 2: individual kind of put themselves in harm's way and then
- 24:04Speaker 2: ended up paying the ultimate cost with their lives. Anytime
- 24:08Speaker 2: I see things where like there's a police shooting, my
- 24:12Speaker 2: default position is it didn't just start with a police shooting.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Something escalated it. Right, It's not just the cops came
- 24:20Speaker 2: in and just shot somebody sitting on a corner. They
- 24:25Speaker 2: were doing something. And this idea that the Democrats keep
- 24:28Speaker 2: pushing of know your rights. You don't have to give
- 24:31Speaker 2: them your ID. You don't have to do this, you
- 24:33Speaker 2: don't have to do that. The best advice I ever
- 24:36Speaker 2: got and the best advice you'll ever receive when dealing
- 24:40Speaker 2: with law enforcement, be comply as much as possible. When
- 24:46Speaker 2: I get pulled over for a speeding which unfortunately happens
- 24:49Speaker 2: to me a little too regularly, I'm my hands are
- 24:53Speaker 2: at ten and two on the wheel. Sure, I want
- 24:55Speaker 2: them to know I'm not reaching for nothing until you
- 24:58Speaker 2: tell me to. I'm not digging through the glove box
- 25:01Speaker 2: early because I'm trying to put myself in their shoes.
- 25:04Speaker 2: If I'm walking up on a car, I don't know
- 25:05Speaker 2: who's in that vehicle, especially at night. Thankfully, most of
- 25:10Speaker 2: my stuff happens in the middle of the day. But yes,
- 25:13Speaker 2: the comply understand that you have rights, but those rights
- 25:19Speaker 2: will be enforced or however you going to take after
- 25:23Speaker 2: you've been taken into custody. If you're going into custody,
- 25:27Speaker 2: you're not going to litigate it on a sidewalk. The
- 25:30Speaker 2: cop has made up his mind. You need to be arrested.
- 25:33Speaker 2: You're going to be arrested, whether you're doing it willingly
- 25:36Speaker 2: or not. Stop resenting these these democrats who keep pushing
- 25:41Speaker 2: this idea on people that you don't have to comply
- 25:45Speaker 2: with law enforcement is one of the most dangerous positions
- 25:50Speaker 2: any anybody's ever taken.
- 25:53Speaker 4: And I'm for these agents wearing body cameras. I think
- 25:56Speaker 4: it's a great idea because I think it would only
- 25:58Speaker 4: prove the point of how how dangerous these people are
- 26:02Speaker 4: that ICE agents are dealing with all too often. They're desperate,
- 26:05Speaker 4: they know they're in this country illegally. They're willing to
- 26:08Speaker 4: do anything to escape at that point, and that includes
- 26:11Speaker 4: using their cars as weapons, that includes using their kids
- 26:14Speaker 4: as shields, etc.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Yeah, oh my gosh, when they start doing that, that
- 26:18Speaker 2: is yeah, crazy, but yeah, I guess it was. Last
- 26:21Speaker 2: week a Mexican citizen who was living in the country
- 26:24Speaker 2: illegally was shot and killed in Houston after he tried
- 26:28Speaker 2: to ram an ICE officer with his vehicle during a
- 26:30Speaker 2: traffic stop. So what had started as you and I
- 26:33Speaker 2: were just talking about a routine traffic stop quickly escalated
- 26:37Speaker 2: into an attempted murder, and the ICE agent shot the driver,
- 26:43Speaker 2: who then later died. And of course Democrats tell everybody
- 26:49Speaker 2: get out there and protest, that you should be protesting
- 26:53Speaker 2: the illegals. They're the ones making it dangerous.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Absolutely, and these ICE agents are there to keep the
- 26:59Speaker 4: public safe. I mean, it's an illustration of the whole
- 27:05Speaker 4: illegal immigrant argument is these people are here illegally and
- 27:11Speaker 4: they're so desperate to stay that they will do anything,
- 27:14Speaker 4: whether that's defraud the American government or that's whether that's
- 27:18Speaker 4: in danger the American the average American citizen, or whether
- 27:22Speaker 4: that's in danger an ICE agent who's sent there to
- 27:25Speaker 4: round them up and possibly deport them.
- 27:27Speaker 2: And also with the understanding that there are very high profile,
- 27:31Speaker 2: high ranking senators, presidential candidates and the such that will
- 27:36Speaker 2: back that move as well. Sure, you had to do
- 27:39Speaker 2: what you had to do to keep your family safe,
- 27:40Speaker 2: so you kill a n IE agent. Goodness, gracious, these
- 27:43Speaker 2: people are lunatics. But that's what we're dealing with in
- 27:46Speaker 2: America this morning. Look, I'm gonna I got to get
- 27:49Speaker 2: myself out of this mood. I got to get back
- 27:51Speaker 2: out of the happy side, get back on the good foot.
- 27:54Speaker 2: We'll be working on that and taking your talkbacks as well.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Please use the iHeartRadio Apple edis know what you're thinking
- 27:59Speaker 2: about this morning. If this is South Carolina's morning.
- 28:01Speaker 1: News, your news, traffic, weather and information stations. This is
- 28:07Speaker 1: South Carolina's morning news on one O three point five FM,
- 28:11Speaker 1: five sixty AM WVOC and ninety four to three WSC.
- 28:16Speaker 5: Now Kelly Nash.
- 28:18Speaker 2: I don't think I was surprised. I don't think Christopher,
- 28:20Speaker 2: you'd probably be surprised either that the South Carolina budget
- 28:24Speaker 2: did not did not really get very close to being
- 28:27Speaker 2: passed yesterday.
- 28:29Speaker 4: There is a huge rift between the House and Senate
- 28:32Speaker 4: conferees at this point.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Senator Tom Davis, Republican Vieufort outlined three paths forward yesterday,
- 28:38Speaker 2: continue without a budget, cut some House ear marks or
- 28:42Speaker 2: their amounts, and allow for the partial property tax cut,
- 28:47Speaker 2: or just nix all the lawmakers projects and the homestead exemption.
- 28:53Speaker 2: So in the House they're looking for three hundred and
- 28:56Speaker 2: fifteen million dollars in ear marks. The senators said one
- 29:00Speaker 2: hundred and thirty million. And I don't even think that
- 29:03Speaker 2: that one hundred and thirty million and a three hundred
- 29:05Speaker 2: and fifteen million. I don't even think they're like, you know,
- 29:08Speaker 2: like overlap. I think that they're like completely separate. So
- 29:11Speaker 2: it's different projects, different pet projects. Yeah, so it's almost
- 29:14Speaker 2: a half billion dollars in quote unquote pet projects. And
- 29:22Speaker 2: Bruce Banister, chair of the House Ways and Means Committee,
- 29:25Speaker 2: said that the budget negotiators should look through the earmarks
- 29:28Speaker 2: and pick which projects will actually benefit the constituents. I
- 29:31Speaker 2: think we need to look at these projects individually on
- 29:33Speaker 2: their merit, Banister said. If they're no good, we'll get
- 29:35Speaker 2: rid of them. The problem with that attitude, Bruce, is
- 29:39Speaker 2: that we can always find a good cause to spend
- 29:42Speaker 2: money on. We don't want the government to keep spending
- 29:45Speaker 2: money though. We want the people who live in the
- 29:49Speaker 2: town to fund whatever it is that the people in
- 29:51Speaker 2: the town want. We don't want them to just like,
- 29:55Speaker 2: why am I funding a firehouse in Baufort or whatever
- 29:59Speaker 2: that ear mark was for? That should not be coming
- 30:02Speaker 2: from the tax people of Charleston and Myrtle Beach and
- 30:05Speaker 2: what they shouldn't be paying for a firehouse in Beaufort.
- 30:08Speaker 2: If the people of Beaufort want another firehouse, they can
- 30:12Speaker 2: increase their own taxes and then build themselves a new firehouse.
- 30:16Speaker 2: If we want in Richland County something whatever, we can
- 30:20Speaker 2: increase our own taxes. But this idea that it's the
- 30:26Speaker 2: job of the state government to just provide for every
- 30:29Speaker 2: want and whim of every local lawmaker so that they
- 30:32Speaker 2: can put their name in front of a building is
- 30:35Speaker 2: ridiculous and it serves to deter people from moving here.
- 30:40Speaker 2: We are, what do they say, one of the fastest
- 30:42Speaker 2: growing states by popular but we could be doing so
- 30:45Speaker 2: much more. We almost do it in spite of the
- 30:48Speaker 2: way our government's being run here because we've got everything
- 30:51Speaker 2: going for us. The weather, people love, the ocean, people
- 30:54Speaker 2: love the mountains, people love You're right between Charlotte and Atlanta,
- 30:58Speaker 2: two of the fastest growing cities, and Erica. Myrtle Beach
- 31:01Speaker 2: is on fire with people retiring and moving there. Everything
- 31:05Speaker 2: is going in our direction, and yet we don't get
- 31:09Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think we have anywhere near enough
- 31:12Speaker 2: new businesses and new opportunities for South Carolinians based off
- 31:17Speaker 2: of just how business friendly are we and what is
- 31:20Speaker 2: our tax structure?
- 31:21Speaker 4: Like well, Bruce Banister, I would hope we would start
- 31:24Speaker 4: before these ear marks even make it into a bill
- 31:26Speaker 4: to examine it and say all right, does this benefit
- 31:29Speaker 4: the taxpayers of South Carolina or not? How do they
- 31:32Speaker 4: get into it? And then we say later, well, we
- 31:35Speaker 4: should examine all these and make sure they are true
- 31:37Speaker 4: benefits to South Carolina taxpayer. That should be your starting point,
- 31:40Speaker 4: not here at a budget impass to say, okay, yeah,
- 31:43Speaker 4: we do need to examine these ear marks and make
- 31:45Speaker 4: sure we strike the ones that aren't beneficial to taxpayers strong.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Point, and to further it where like you said, we're
- 31:53Speaker 2: two weeks past the budget being due. It was supposed
- 31:57Speaker 2: to start on July first, and now you want to
- 32:00Speaker 2: review it.
- 32:01Speaker 4: I'm starting to agree with Tom Davis. Maybe no budget's okay.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Maybe just freezing the numbers where they are, because you know,
- 32:08Speaker 4: otherwise we're spending more and our legislator legislature loves to
- 32:13Speaker 4: do that. If you're Alan Wilson right now and you
- 32:16Speaker 4: just had him on yesterday, If you're Alan Wilson, you've
- 32:19Speaker 4: got to be probably rubbing your hands and thinking, Okay,
- 32:21Speaker 4: this is great if they would just freeze everything where
- 32:24Speaker 4: it was. He's got a tax plan. He revealed it
- 32:27Speaker 4: during the debates, the gubernatorial debates. He's got a tax
- 32:30Speaker 4: plan in place. If we get to next session and
- 32:34Speaker 4: the House and Senate can't get together and just freeze
- 32:37Speaker 4: things where they are, then he can come out with
- 32:40Speaker 4: his own tax plan and say, look, guys, we want
- 32:42Speaker 4: to save taxpayers money.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Here's the way we do it.
- 32:45Speaker 2: The one negative to that, and I agree exactly what
- 32:49Speaker 2: you said. The one negative is in what was had
- 32:52Speaker 2: been promised to state employees was there was going to
- 32:55Speaker 2: be a pay raise, including teachers, and the teachers also
- 32:58Speaker 2: were supposed to get a pay raise. Yeah, there's andy
- 33:01Speaker 2: that does not happen if we just go with the
- 33:03Speaker 2: continuing resolution. So something to think about. Maybe you've got
- 33:06Speaker 2: thoughts on it. Let us know on the talkback feature
- 33:08Speaker 2: on the iHeartRadio app. You're getting your day started with
- 33:11Speaker 2: South Carolina's Morning News.
- 33:13Speaker 1: This is South Carolina's Morning News on one O three
- 33:16Speaker 1: point five FM and five sixty AM WVOC Colombia and
- 33:22Speaker 1: ninety four to three WSC Charleston.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Now Kelly Nash.
- 33:28Speaker 6: This is Jimmy. I am a local real estate agent
- 33:30Speaker 6: here in the Columbia area. Going off what you said
- 33:34Speaker 6: this morning about the LGBQT plus wanting to move away
- 33:40Speaker 6: from Southern States. Yes, this is true. Had a client
- 33:44Speaker 6: they will want to move away. Nice couple, good people
- 33:47Speaker 6: in the community, but they said that South Carolina was
- 33:51Speaker 6: not for them and they want to move up to
- 33:53Speaker 6: North Carolina.
- 33:53Speaker 3: I think to Ashville Asheville.
- 33:57Speaker 2: You know, Ashville's probably very gay friendly. I would assume
- 34:02Speaker 2: it is. I haven't been to Ashville in a couple
- 34:05Speaker 2: of years now. I stopped going. I actually like Dashville
- 34:08Speaker 2: when I first moved here. I don't like it as
- 34:10Speaker 2: much now. And it's not because of all the gay
- 34:13Speaker 2: people that are there. It's more of the drug use
- 34:16Speaker 2: that is so rampant there. But yeah, we're used commenting
- 34:19Speaker 2: on the one hundred and ninety thousand LGBTQ adults in
- 34:22Speaker 2: South Carolina. According to the state newspaper and in a
- 34:26Speaker 2: nationwide survey, thirty two percent of LGBTQ individuals living in
- 34:31Speaker 2: the South say they are planning to relocate in the
- 34:35Speaker 2: next year to more LGBTQ friendly places. According to them
- 34:39Speaker 2: and their survey, Louisiana, South Carolina, and Tennessee are the
- 34:45Speaker 2: most hostile states with LGBT anti LGBTQ plus policies. I'm
- 34:52Speaker 2: not And again, if you're saying that the policy is
- 34:54Speaker 2: the bathroom policy or the trans policy regarding sports, you
- 35:00Speaker 2: should park that that's not part of a first off,
- 35:03Speaker 2: that's only the T. Just that's just the T the
- 35:07Speaker 2: lg I don't think most I don't. I'm not aware
- 35:11Speaker 2: of any policies designed against gays and lesbians in the state.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Maybe I'm wrong because I'm not one, but I'm not
- 35:19Speaker 2: aware of any. I also don't again that this is
- 35:24Speaker 2: just me personally. I don't know of anybody who's really
- 35:26Speaker 2: hostile towards the gay and lesbian community. I know that
- 35:31Speaker 2: when they have the pride parades, if there's certain behavior
- 35:36Speaker 2: that is overtly sexual happening in the streets, you might
- 35:40Speaker 2: get some pushback on that, but you would also get
- 35:43Speaker 2: that if you had a bunch of strippers going down
- 35:45Speaker 2: the street. So again, we're maybe it's just that we're
- 35:49Speaker 2: more modest. We're a more modest people who like to
- 35:52Speaker 2: cover ourselves up for the most part.
- 35:55Speaker 4: No, I mean it's a more conservative state and Tennessee
- 35:58Speaker 4: and Louisiana with you know, Republican leadership there. It's I mean,
- 36:03Speaker 4: I understand it's it may not be pro LGBTQ, but
- 36:10Speaker 4: I don't think it's anti LGBTQ either.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think we're trying to find a
- 36:15Speaker 2: nice middle ground. And you know it.
- 36:19Speaker 4: We're a very welcoming state where yeah, I mean we
- 36:22Speaker 4: have manners, we're polite.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yes, And if they've had isolated incidents with certain individuals.
- 36:29Speaker 3: You know that could happen anywhere that Yes.
- 36:32Speaker 2: That's the bigger point. The South Carolinians in general are
- 36:36Speaker 2: very accommodating and welcoming to everybody. It's a great state.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I'm sad to hear people want to move out of it.
- 36:44Speaker 2: I think for the most part, you're probably going to
- 36:47Speaker 2: not be as happy moving forward. But maybe maybe you'll
- 36:50Speaker 2: prove me wrong. In the meantime, Christopher, when we come back,
- 36:53Speaker 2: one of the mayors of one of what had been
- 36:56Speaker 2: one of the most pro gay cities in America has
- 37:00Speaker 2: made a shocking political shift that it might be the
- 37:06Speaker 2: new roadmap for Democrats trying to save their jobs, save
- 37:10Speaker 2: their bacon. We'll talk about that and other things. As
- 37:12Speaker 2: we roll on with South Carolina's morning news.
- 37:15Speaker 5: From the Midlands to the low Country.
- 37:17Speaker 1: This is South Carolina's morning news on one O three
- 37:21Speaker 1: point five FM and five sixty AM WVOC and ninety
- 37:25Speaker 1: four to three WSC.
- 37:27Speaker 5: Now here's Kelly nash Oh.
- 37:30Speaker 2: I've been looking for this good news for a while.
- 37:33Speaker 2: We've been talking about how the Democrats Socialists of America
- 37:36Speaker 2: have been attacking Democrats and it has been a bloodbath
- 37:41Speaker 2: for the Democrat Party. And most recently, a pretty high
- 37:45Speaker 2: profile guy, and Dan Goldman was taken down in New
- 37:49Speaker 2: York City. He's one of the people who led the
- 37:51Speaker 2: impeachment of Donald Trump and that was not left enough
- 37:55Speaker 2: for the Democrat Socialists of New York and he was
- 37:58Speaker 2: overwhelmingly defeated along with the rest of the Mamdani ticket.
- 38:03Speaker 2: But here we go, Christopher. Look at San Francisco. You
- 38:09Speaker 2: have a mayor who came into office in twenty twenty five, white,
- 38:14Speaker 2: heterosexual pro Israel. Are you kidding me? A man who
- 38:19Speaker 2: again a Democrat, but he's cut taxes. He actually just
- 38:24Speaker 2: got a ballot measure defeated that would have raised taxes
- 38:30Speaker 2: on any companies that had a CEO making over five
- 38:34Speaker 2: million a year. He said, this is insane. There's no
- 38:37Speaker 2: way we should be doing that, and he got it defeated.
- 38:41Speaker 2: He also backed his own ticket and got two of
- 38:43Speaker 2: his centrists elected. San Francisco is moving to the center,
- 38:49Speaker 2: and he said, we're going to stop with all the
- 38:52Speaker 2: virtue signaling. Of course, gays and lesbians are more than
- 38:56Speaker 2: welcome and have made great contributions to our artistic commune
- 39:00Speaker 2: unity in our community in general, but we're not going
- 39:02Speaker 2: to force out heterosexual people. We're not going to make
- 39:06Speaker 2: them uncomfortable about anybody's sexuality. We're not going to raise
- 39:10Speaker 2: taxes even further on the wealthiest amongst us. We're going
- 39:14Speaker 2: to try to encourage businesses. And right now, not only
- 39:18Speaker 2: is he winning, but according to a survey that came
- 39:21Speaker 2: out this week, he's at a seventy five percent approval
- 39:24Speaker 2: rating in San Francisco.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Wow, that's incredible for that area. But I mean, it
- 39:29Speaker 4: just goes to show once a beautiful city, a city
- 39:34Speaker 4: that people loved to visit, once it goes into that
- 39:38Speaker 4: big of a decline where it's not safe to live there,
- 39:40Speaker 4: where you can't walk the streets without stepping in stuff,
- 39:45Speaker 4: where you can't walk around without seeing syringes and use
- 39:50Speaker 4: drug materials everywhere where. Conventions stop coming to your town
- 39:54Speaker 4: because people don't feel safe.
- 39:56Speaker 3: I mean, you've lost You've got to turn it around.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Otherwise everyone leaves.
- 40:00Speaker 2: But it seems as if you and I would say
- 40:02Speaker 2: that obviously Portland, Oregon continues to go down that path.
- 40:05Speaker 2: I mean, Seattle, Washington elected a woman who was living
- 40:09Speaker 2: with her parents. I mean, it's crazy what they're doing
- 40:13Speaker 2: in some of these places. But here is an oasis
- 40:17Speaker 2: of sanity, and the last place I would have expected,
- 40:20Speaker 2: San Francisco.
- 40:21Speaker 3: It got so bad they had to make a change.
- 40:23Speaker 2: And this guy is the cousin of Dan Goldman. I mean,
- 40:28Speaker 2: and so this is fantastic. He's like, of course, we're
- 40:30Speaker 2: going to stand for Israel. We love Israel. Israel is
- 40:33Speaker 2: a great ally of this country, and the Jewish community
- 40:35Speaker 2: has made great contributions to our country, as well as
- 40:38Speaker 2: the LGBTQ. We're not going to We're not going to
- 40:41Speaker 2: do like mom, Donnie. Did you see his map the
- 40:43Speaker 2: other day of historic communities and he removed little Italy. Wow.
- 40:49Speaker 2: The Italians in New York are like, are you telling
- 40:51Speaker 2: us the Italians did nothing? In New York.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I know your history.
- 40:56Speaker 4: What'd you say is San Francisco is mayor's approval rate
- 41:00Speaker 4: seventy five percent.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Seventy four point three percent in the poll that came out.
- 41:05Speaker 2: He is on fire right now, and he's got a
- 41:08Speaker 2: pack that he's building where he says, we're looking for
- 41:12Speaker 2: centrists across the country, people who want to be moderate Democrats.
- 41:17Speaker 2: We need to help you, and so good for this.
- 41:20Speaker 2: I'm I look, politics makes for strange bedfellows. Never in
- 41:23Speaker 2: ak trillion years what I thought I'd be saying, let's
- 41:27Speaker 2: try to help the mayor of San Francisco accomplish something.
- 41:29Speaker 2: But go, Daniel Lorie. I love what you're doing. I
- 41:33Speaker 2: love that. Look. We're not gonna see eye to eye
- 41:34Speaker 2: on a lot of politics. That's okay, But at least
- 41:37Speaker 2: you're putting America first. You're putting San Francisco first. You're
- 41:41Speaker 2: putting the idea that San Francisco was a great community
- 41:45Speaker 2: and should be a great city again in America. And
- 41:48Speaker 2: it's possible even with some leftist policies, just left of center,
- 41:53Speaker 2: a little bit left. I remember when Trump was describing
- 41:57Speaker 2: Lindsay Graham or somebody that he said a little bit
- 41:59Speaker 2: to the of where I might be. That's okay, anyway,
- 42:04Speaker 2: keep going, Daniel Lurie. I'm very happy to give you
- 42:06Speaker 2: that news. We've got more coming up. If you've got
- 42:08Speaker 2: thoughts on that or anything, you use the talk back feature.
- 42:10Speaker 2: This is South Carolina's Morning News.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Live from the State Capitol. This is South Carolina's Morning
- 42:17Speaker 1: News with Kelly Nash.
- 42:20Speaker 2: But lefter six am this morning, the US Central Command
- 42:24Speaker 2: Forces began launching a new wave of strikes against Iran.
- 42:29Speaker 2: As Pete Hexsas says, this is designed to further degrade
- 42:32Speaker 2: the military capabilities of the Iranian forces, which they've used
- 42:36Speaker 2: to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Horror moves.
- 42:38Speaker 2: When you think back, we've been quote unquote at war
- 42:41Speaker 2: with them since late February if I remember right, but
- 42:45Speaker 2: we've only had basically like thirty two days of actual fighting.
- 42:50Speaker 2: So I think that we're seeing the United States is
- 42:54Speaker 2: now going to be serious about taking the Iranian regime down,
- 42:58Speaker 2: and they are. They are going at it hard to
- 43:01Speaker 2: this morning. There's a lot.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Happening, and run responds by attacking its neighbors.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Yes, and they're gonna They're just again they continue to
- 43:10Speaker 2: alienate themselves from the other countries in the region, which
- 43:14Speaker 2: is an unbelievable development because they had been that whole
- 43:17Speaker 2: OPEC thing was designed specifically to hurt the United States
- 43:21Speaker 2: years ago. OPEK is now falling apart in a lot
- 43:24Speaker 2: of those countries, like the UAE are now siding with
- 43:27Speaker 2: the United States against the Iranians. Even Iraq is going
- 43:31Speaker 2: against Iran. It's everybody's turning on them.
- 43:34Speaker 3: And so.
- 43:36Speaker 2: I'm expecting this to increase, not decrease. And I see
- 43:41Speaker 2: the United Nations this morning is now condemning our actions
- 43:45Speaker 2: because the Strait of Hormuz is so important to food
- 43:50Speaker 2: and other things, and well, yes, but we need to
- 43:53Speaker 2: open it up. Un they're not just gonna let things
- 43:56Speaker 2: flow anyway. We're keeping an eye on that and other
- 44:00Speaker 2: stories as well. This is South Carolina's Morning News.
- 44:05Speaker 1: This is South Carolina's Morning News with Kelly Nash.
- 44:10Speaker 2: And it's a staff of two Christopher Thompson, myself, and
- 44:13Speaker 2: we're trying to get through everything. Christopher, you just told
- 44:16Speaker 2: me that Joe Biden has just posted a video of
- 44:19Speaker 2: himself promoting a new book.
- 44:20Speaker 4: It is a trailer for Promise Me America. It comes
- 44:24Speaker 4: out November seventeenth. The trailer came out just minutes ago.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Can we hear a little clip? That's the presidency. I've
- 44:33Speaker 2: had a lot of people ask me, Joe, what have
- 44:36Speaker 2: you been doing. Oh my gosh, I'm just spending a
- 44:42Speaker 2: lot of time with my family.
- 44:43Speaker 1: I'm dealing with a cancer diagnosis and I've been getting
- 44:46Speaker 1: treatment and it's been going really well.
- 44:49Speaker 2: You know, let's just stop it there. This is literally
- 44:52Speaker 2: probably take two hundred. I'm assuming this is the best
- 44:55Speaker 2: they can get. The audio needs to be transcripted below.
- 44:58Speaker 2: It's like when you watch the BB and you don't
- 45:00Speaker 2: know what they're saying, even though they're speaking English. We
- 45:03Speaker 2: don't know what he's saying. I'm just reminded of Trump
- 45:06Speaker 2: going I have no idea what he's saying. I don't
- 45:08Speaker 2: even think he knows what he's saying. This guy wrote
- 45:10Speaker 2: a book talking about how he made all the big decisions.
- 45:16Speaker 4: It touches on everything from the economy, he says, to
- 45:19Speaker 4: his decision to drop his bid for reelection.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, you made no decisions. This book should
- 45:27Speaker 2: have been written by Jill and I don't know Valerie Jarrett.
- 45:32Speaker 4: He is getting roasted online some people are calling it
- 45:34Speaker 4: an autopinography.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Perfect per as it should be. I mean, he why
- 45:43Speaker 2: does he continue to pretend that I guess he needs
- 45:46Speaker 2: the money. Jill probably did write the book, and Jill
- 45:49Speaker 2: probably wrote the script for this stupid trailer that he
- 45:52Speaker 2: has and said, go go out and sell this, Joe,
- 45:54Speaker 2: we need some money around here.
- 45:56Speaker 4: At least he's working on selling it now. But it's
- 45:58Speaker 4: a beautiful video. In between, it's Joe Biden trying to
- 46:03Speaker 4: make sense of it all, and I'm not sure anyone
- 46:06Speaker 4: can make sense of it all.
- 46:09Speaker 2: I like, somebody got another book cover for him, Joe Biden,
- 46:14Speaker 2: I was president question Mark and it's got that stupid
- 46:17Speaker 2: look out his face. Oh my gosh, this is comedy
- 46:23Speaker 2: comedy gold, you know what.
- 46:25Speaker 3: I can't wait to read it November seventeenth.
- 46:27Speaker 2: It comes out November seventeenth. We can finally see what
- 46:31Speaker 2: the mind process the sharpest mind we've ever had in
- 46:34Speaker 2: the Oval Office, according to some We'll get to see
- 46:37Speaker 2: how he constructed decisions and maybe apply some of those
- 46:40Speaker 2: decision making processes to our own lives. Thank you, Joe,
- 46:44Speaker 2: another gift from the Bidens. All right, this is South
- 46:47Speaker 2: Carolina's Morning News.
- 46:49Speaker 1: You're listening to South Carolina's Morning News with Kelly nash Well.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Chuck Grassley dropped a little bit of a bombshell yesterday.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Records that have been provided to the Senator show that
- 47:04Speaker 2: the Biden DOJ established what's called a filter team through
- 47:09Speaker 2: Jack Smith's investigations. And as you remember, Jack Smith was
- 47:13Speaker 2: the guy who I remember when Jack Smith went to
- 47:16Speaker 2: Subway and they said that proves that Donald Trump's guilty.
- 47:20Speaker 2: He went to Subway. He's so confident that he's got him. Well,
- 47:24Speaker 2: turns out not so much. And also turns out that
- 47:28Speaker 2: it appears that Jack Smith and his filter team were
- 47:31Speaker 2: illegally monitoring the phones of at least forty four Republicans,
- 47:35Speaker 2: including the President's daughter, Ivanka Trump, White House Chief of
- 47:40Speaker 2: Staff Mark Meadows, Vice President Mike Pence, Kelly an Conway,
- 47:44Speaker 2: Rudy Giuliani, Stephen Miller, Peter Navarro. The list goes on
- 47:48Speaker 2: and on in what was illegally tapped. According to Chuck Grassley,
- 47:54Speaker 2: I appreciate Rand Paul pointing out on his social media page.
- 47:58Speaker 2: In December of twenty twenty, Jack Smith swore under oath
- 48:03Speaker 2: that he didn't spy on any text messages belonging to
- 48:05Speaker 2: any members of Congress. Today we have new evidence confirming
- 48:09Speaker 2: that he's not only did that, but he had dozens
- 48:12Speaker 2: and dozens of members of Congress, including myself, illegally being
- 48:16Speaker 2: spied upon. This is a blatant abuse of power and
- 48:20Speaker 2: exactly what the Founders warned against. I'm wondering is the
- 48:25Speaker 2: next step. Are we going to see some sort of
- 48:29Speaker 2: you know, charges against Jack Smith.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Well, that's perjury right off the bat, isn't it.
- 48:34Speaker 2: I mean, I haven't seen it. I was waiting for
- 48:38Speaker 2: Rand Paul to put a little bow on that and
- 48:41Speaker 2: say we'll be bringing pergery charges, but he didn't. He
- 48:44Speaker 2: just ended the tweet with this as a blatant abuse
- 48:47Speaker 2: of power and exactly what the Founders had warned about.
- 48:51Speaker 2: But this, you know, as the and I hate to
- 48:53Speaker 2: Sully the release of Joe Biden's hot new book that
- 48:56Speaker 2: you brought to our attention, But this just again brings
- 49:00Speaker 2: back to memory how abusive the Biden administration was, the
- 49:06Speaker 2: Department of Justice under his watch, everything was designed to
- 49:11Speaker 2: abuse the American people, take advantage of government power, use
- 49:15Speaker 2: it against Americans, you know, looking back at the whole
- 49:20Speaker 2: twenty twenty twenty twenty one, the parent teacher meetings that
- 49:24Speaker 2: were suddenly the parents are being labeled as terrorists because
- 49:27Speaker 2: they don't like what the teachers are teaching. It was
- 49:31Speaker 2: a It's one of those times in history where if
- 49:34Speaker 2: I didn't live through it myself, I don't know that
- 49:36Speaker 2: I believe that it actually happened.
- 49:38Speaker 4: You know what, if you look at current events and
- 49:40Speaker 4: what's happening today, you know we have an acting age
- 49:44Speaker 4: who is going before hearing. It's expected to be contentious,
- 49:48Speaker 4: to say the least. If I'm a Republican on that
- 49:52Speaker 4: Judiciary Committee and talking to Todd Blanche today, I would
- 49:55Speaker 4: simply post questions that relate to the Jack Smith. I'd say,
- 50:01Speaker 4: how many times did you wiretap Joe Biden or his
- 50:03Speaker 4: chief of staff? How many times did you wiretap Well
- 50:07Speaker 4: Hunter Biden? Maybe the exception needed to be WAPs, but
- 50:12Speaker 4: how many times did you listen in on recordings of
- 50:15Speaker 4: Biden administration officials? How many times have you committed that
- 50:20Speaker 4: act against Democrats and frame it that way and just
- 50:25Speaker 4: constantly throw Jack Smith back in their faces.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Oh and somebody in the Ron Paul comments section has
- 50:32Speaker 2: got a screenshot this I wouldn't be buying tickets to
- 50:37Speaker 2: this to begin with. But there's a tour of I
- 50:40Speaker 2: don't even know what this is called the Colorado Series
- 50:43Speaker 2: dot com purchase season tickets. Evening two will feature doctor
- 50:48Speaker 2: Sanjay Gupta, Stacy Abrams, the rightful Governor of Georgia. She
- 50:54Speaker 2: hasn't lost yet, Captain Scott Kelly, We're not gonna and
- 51:00Speaker 2: then the headliner, Jack Smith. Jack Smith is going to
- 51:04Speaker 2: come on stage and brag about how he really did
- 51:07Speaker 2: have the goods on Donald Trump and Congress refused to act.
- 51:10Speaker 3: What's the date of that series.
- 51:11Speaker 2: I don't you know exactly.
- 51:13Speaker 3: He may be in jail by that.
- 51:14Speaker 2: They may have to find a new keynote speaker. Jack
- 51:18Speaker 2: Smith may be in cuffs at that point. Again, I
- 51:21Speaker 2: joke because I unfortunately we don't see cuffs put on
- 51:25Speaker 2: Democrats when they do violent or not violent, but in
- 51:28Speaker 2: this instance, blatant violations of the law. And I'm hoping
- 51:34Speaker 2: that Ryan Paul will start. I mean, he's one of
- 51:36Speaker 2: the victims here, but I'd like to hear from more
- 51:39Speaker 2: of these people. Where you know, Mike Pence has been
- 51:42Speaker 2: looking for somebody to listen to him for you know,
- 51:45Speaker 2: several years now. This would be an opportunity for Mike
- 51:48Speaker 2: Pence to actually get, you know, in front of some
- 51:50Speaker 2: cameras where people would actually listen to him. He should
- 51:53Speaker 2: be condemning this violently or vocally. We need to get
- 51:58Speaker 2: more people out in front of this because this is ridiculous.
- 52:00Speaker 2: What the Biden administration did should never have happened, and
- 52:05Speaker 2: it can't be allowed to be repeated. This is such
- 52:07Speaker 2: an abuse of power and completely anti constitutional behavior. But
- 52:13Speaker 2: I'm glad, you know, thankfully that it's starting to come
- 52:16Speaker 2: out into the open. We'll see if it's a disinfectant
- 52:18Speaker 2: or not.
- 52:19Speaker 4: I'm looking at the list of some of the lawmakers
- 52:21Speaker 4: who were listed as having their communications accessed by Jack Smith.
- 52:27Speaker 4: Corey Booker's on that list. There are several Democrats who
- 52:29Speaker 4: are on that list. Shouldn't they be just as outraged
- 52:32Speaker 4: as Republicans?
- 52:33Speaker 2: You know, I wonder that would be a head turner
- 52:37Speaker 2: if Corey Booker said, Jackson, who is Jack Smith? To
- 52:41Speaker 2: listen in on my private communication? I'd love that, but
- 52:44Speaker 2: he probably would say I granted him full I have
- 52:47Speaker 2: nothing to hide. I had broadcast my phone calls to
- 52:50Speaker 2: the world if it was possible. But anyway, you have
- 52:54Speaker 2: a good point we'll look for a Democrat to speak
- 52:57Speaker 2: out against it as well. All right, you're getting your
- 52:59Speaker 2: day started with South Carolina's morning news.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Your news, traffic, weather and information stations. This is South
- 53:07Speaker 1: Carolina's Morning News on one O three point five FM,
- 53:11Speaker 1: five sixty AM WVOC, and ninety four to three WUSC.
- 53:16Speaker 5: Now Kelly Nash.
- 53:18Speaker 2: So, it's some bad news for the state of South Carolina,
- 53:22Speaker 2: but because we're just broadcasting to our friends in the
- 53:26Speaker 2: low Country and the Midlands, it's not bad news for us.
- 53:29Speaker 2: It's unfortunately Greenville and Myrtle Beach have become two of
- 53:36Speaker 2: the worst towns in America for bedbugs.
- 53:39Speaker 3: Ooh, that's not a reputation you want.
- 53:42Speaker 2: No, And this is a numerous years in a row
- 53:45Speaker 2: for Greenville, and I don't know why that would happen,
- 53:49Speaker 2: but they Myrtle Beach, they suspect because it's a vacation
- 53:53Speaker 2: destination that people are actually inadvertently bringing them from their
- 53:59Speaker 2: state wherever they are. By the way, Ohio worst state
- 54:02Speaker 2: in America for bedbugs, and they bring them in to
- 54:06Speaker 2: Myrtle Beach and then they leave them behind for for
- 54:09Speaker 2: us to enjoy.
- 54:10Speaker 3: How many Ohio residents do we have that come here
- 54:12Speaker 3: every year.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Oh a ton. Yeah. I had a theory years ago
- 54:16Speaker 2: when I first moved here and I started meeting all
- 54:18Speaker 2: the people from Ohio that they had originally planned to
- 54:21Speaker 2: move to Florida. But they got here about after a
- 54:24Speaker 2: day and they spent the night and they said, ah,
- 54:25Speaker 2: Florida is too far away. I'll just stay here. It's
- 54:28Speaker 2: nice here, It's good enough here, It is good enough.
- 54:31Speaker 2: But you know, if this is I had not ever
- 54:35Speaker 2: battled a bedbug before. Apparently it's a brutal infestation once
- 54:39Speaker 2: you get one, but they do. Here's a big tip
- 54:43Speaker 2: when you go on vacation, they say, try to keep
- 54:47Speaker 2: your clothes off the floor, keep you know, those types
- 54:49Speaker 2: of things. But also when you get home, put your
- 54:53Speaker 2: dryer safe clothes. Just don't even unpack, just dump them
- 54:57Speaker 2: right into the dryer and let them sit there for
- 55:00Speaker 2: about forty five minutes on high. Of course, your shirts
- 55:03Speaker 2: will come out about the size of an infants. But
- 55:07Speaker 2: you will have killed all the bed bugs. And apparently
- 55:10Speaker 2: one of the things the fallacies is you can kill
- 55:12Speaker 2: them with a hair dryer. You can't kill They say
- 55:14Speaker 2: that the bed bugs are able to you'll get them
- 55:16Speaker 2: out of the bed or whatever. But you're not going
- 55:19Speaker 2: to kill them. They're just going to go hide under
- 55:21Speaker 2: the carpet or something and then come back and start
- 55:23Speaker 2: biting you at night.
- 55:24Speaker 4: That's how you usually know, And you know if you're
- 55:27Speaker 4: there longer than a day or two in places like
- 55:30Speaker 4: Greenville or Myrtle Beach. Hate to smirch them, but if
- 55:35Speaker 4: you're there longer than that, you probably wake up with
- 55:37Speaker 4: a few bites and you know you're in for something.
- 55:40Speaker 2: I don't think I've ever been bitten by bed bugs,
- 55:42Speaker 2: though I will admit when I used to travel a
- 55:45Speaker 2: lot for business, I was a little bit crazy the
- 55:48Speaker 2: way I would prepare for bed I would wear socks,
- 55:52Speaker 2: sweatpants that were tucked into my socks, a T shirt
- 55:56Speaker 2: tucked into my sweatpants, so the only thing that was
- 55:58Speaker 2: basically exposed were my hands, neck and head. That was it.
- 56:01Speaker 2: If they were gonna get me, that was the only
- 56:03Speaker 2: place they were gonna get me. But I don't remember
- 56:05Speaker 2: ever getting gotten, and I think I would have remembered
- 56:07Speaker 2: that I used to.
- 56:08Speaker 4: I mean, it was the first move I made when
- 56:10Speaker 4: I got into a hotel room, is I would, you know,
- 56:12Speaker 4: sling the luggage on the bed.
- 56:14Speaker 3: My wife will not let me do that.
- 56:15Speaker 4: One of her rules is you never put your luggage
- 56:18Speaker 4: on the hotel bed, really because you know that's that's
- 56:22Speaker 4: where it starts.
- 56:23Speaker 2: So but you're gonna get in that bed, Well that's true.
- 56:26Speaker 4: Yeah, they may wind up with you one way or another,
- 56:29Speaker 4: but she's convinced we're not taking them back with us
- 56:32Speaker 4: in our luggage.
- 56:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Well that's a look. If you have to suffer
- 56:35Speaker 2: at a hotel for a night or two, I guess
- 56:37Speaker 2: that's one thing. But like you say, once they get
- 56:38Speaker 2: into your house, yeah, that can be a massive problem apparently.
- 56:42Speaker 2: So anyway, be on the lookout, especially if you're in
- 56:44Speaker 2: the Myrtle Beach or Greenville for like a day trip
- 56:46Speaker 2: or whatever. Be careful. And let's just let's keep the
- 56:50Speaker 2: Midlands and the low Country clean of the bed bug,
- 56:52Speaker 2: shall we. All right, let's get our and if you've
- 56:55Speaker 2: had a bad bed bug infestation, let us know how
- 56:57Speaker 2: that turned out for you. On the talkback feature on
- 56:59Speaker 2: the iHeart radio app, This is South Carolina's Morning News.
- 57:02Speaker 1: This is South Carolina's Morning News on one O three
- 57:06Speaker 1: point five FM and five sixty AM WVOC Columbia and
- 57:11Speaker 1: ninety four to three WSC Charleston.
- 57:15Speaker 2: Now, Kelly Nash, all right, it appears that US Central
- 57:19Speaker 2: Command has just wrapped up about a ninety minute operation
- 57:24Speaker 2: of bombing the crap out of Iran, and now they're
- 57:30Speaker 2: starting to post videos and it is devastating the stuff
- 57:34Speaker 2: that you're seeing. I'm not sure ton tunb Island. I'm
- 57:39Speaker 2: not sure which one that one was, but that barelya
- 57:43Speaker 2: that that island. To quote what was that guy's name,
- 57:46Speaker 2: Hank Johnson from Georgia, it almost capsized. You remember the
- 57:52Speaker 2: Hank Johnson quote to the admiral? Are we concerned that
- 57:56Speaker 2: too much military weight that the island of guamme capt size?
- 58:01Speaker 2: Tomb Island looks like it's about ready to capsize it
- 58:04Speaker 2: it was destroyed. My concerns about this is that I
- 58:12Speaker 2: heard Donald Trump on the top of the hour news
- 58:13Speaker 2: break talking about these attacks will continue till I say
- 58:17Speaker 2: they stop. Perfect However, he followed that up by saying,
- 58:23Speaker 2: and until we can get the you know, some serious negotiations.
- 58:27Speaker 2: You're never going to get serious negotiations from the IRGC.
- 58:32Speaker 2: And it doesn't matter who's at the table, it's the IRGC.
- 58:37Speaker 2: They are the ones carrying out all of this, and
- 58:41Speaker 2: they're not. Their goal is not to be comfortable. Their
- 58:44Speaker 2: goal is not to make a lot of money. Their
- 58:46Speaker 2: goal is not to have peace. None of that is
- 58:49Speaker 2: their goal. Their only goal in life is to overthrow
- 58:52Speaker 2: the West and or just the entire world and get
- 58:56Speaker 2: the world prepared for the return of the twelfth so
- 59:00Speaker 2: that we can have you know, Shangri la or whatever
- 59:04Speaker 2: that it's being preached. They're gonna lie, cheat, do whatever
- 59:09Speaker 2: they can in order to keep power. So I don't
- 59:14Speaker 2: know how many times to say it the unique different ways,
- 59:17Speaker 2: but we've got to kill the IRGC.
- 59:19Speaker 4: I mean, Trump said yesterday the memorandum of understanding, that
- 59:23Speaker 4: negotiation that was going on jd Vance went all the
- 59:26Speaker 4: way over for that. He says, now it was just
- 59:28Speaker 4: a test, and that are on failed. Why does he
- 59:31Speaker 4: think it would be different the next time around?
- 59:34Speaker 2: Exactly, you're not. The value systems that we have on
- 59:39Speaker 2: life are different than the value systems that they have
- 59:41Speaker 2: on life, and you can't get them to overlap. The
- 59:45Speaker 2: way they look at everything is different than the way
- 59:48Speaker 2: we look at it. And it's with that old phrase,
- 59:51Speaker 2: when somebody tells you who they are, believe them. And
- 59:54Speaker 2: the Iranians are telling you over and over again, we
- 59:58Speaker 2: don't value peace, we don't care about prosperity. They could
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: have had peace and prosperity literally at any time over
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: the past forty seven years. They saw what was happening
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: in Katar, they saw what was happening in the UAE.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: They chose to not follow that path. They don't want it.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: They want just complete radical Islam rule around the world.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: So I'm happy to see these videos that are being
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: posted now. Like I said, they just started posting them
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: about five minutes ago on social media. So I'll retweet
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: some of them if you follow me on social media,
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: but I want to see a lot more of it.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: What I really want to see is IRGC no longer
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: achieving room temperature. When the IRGC or chief's room temperature,
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: that's when we can have peace.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: Well, Trump has been threatening the power plans over there again.
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: I guess his thought is that, yes, let's cripple the economy,
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: let's cripple this government to the point that they have
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: to respond whether they want.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: To or not. Yeah. Well, it's so frustrating because it
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: didn't have to be this way, but it is this
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: way right now, and so let's just now, you got
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: to finish the job. Once the job's been started, we
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: got to finish it. So let's go team USA. Let's
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: let's go team freedom and just normal normalcy. Let's get
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: this thing back to normal and open up the straight
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: and take over the IRGC. That's my prayer for to
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: say for today. Maybe you have a different one. Let
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: us know on the talkback feature. Thanks forgetting your day
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: started with South Carolina's morning news.
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: From the Midlands to the low Country.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: This is South Carolina's Morning US on one O three
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: point five FM and five sixty AM WVOC and ninety
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: four to three WUSC.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: Now here's Kelly Nash.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: I read this story and I'm I get maybe I'm
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: easily shocked.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: Is that what it is?
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: It could be that my threshold for shockedness is low.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: It should be higher. We have a Canadian who was
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: allowed into the US in twenty twenty five, and I
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: think she got married and she got down here into
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: some guy in New Jersey. She was celebrating the fourth
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: of July in Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk, New Jersey, July third,
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: when she saw according to police and their report, she
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: took exception with three miners. That's all they're listened as.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: We don't know their ages. We just know that they're miners.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: For wearing patriotic colored sweatpants. And one individual who was
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: wearing a Trump T shirt and another one was wearing
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: an Iced T shirt. She filmed herself, Caitlin E. Tracy
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: filmed herself walking up and smacking the underage girl in
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: the face.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: And I guess thought this was a heroic deed that
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: she had done as a Canadian who's now trying to
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: adopt America as her new home. And she was arrested
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: and obstruction. And now there are people around this country
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: who are fundraising for this woman for her legal costs, because.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: How about fundraised for the underage girl she.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: I'm trying to you know, it's I hate to do
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: the what aboutisms, But what about if somebody was wearing
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: a Kamala Harris T shirt and we walked up and
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: smacked them in the face. And I would never encourage
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: anybody to smack anybody in the face. That is a
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: you've already lost the argument if you're now smacking But
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: why would you go after a someone who is a
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna guess is probably about fourteen or fifteen. That
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: would be my guess if they're listed as a minor
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: and just started yelling at them and then smacked them
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: in the face and then filmed herself doing it and
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: apparently posted it somewhere.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: She was proud of it. Yes, are you shocked or
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: it is a little shocking? All right?
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: Good? My shock meter is not completely out of whack.
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: Oh no, I mean I think every day you see
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: people do things on social media and you're just you're
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: so surprised that they would a do it and then
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: be put it out there and take pride in it
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: and think, Okay, I'm going to get a lot of clicks,
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: but I'm proud of what I did.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: I want to show the world what I did.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: Her husband, the American, I'm gonna look, he's made a
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: TikTok video of himself. I guess in their home he's
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: got one of those John Gaycy paintings as a clown
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: behind them.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: Oh that's creepy right there.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: That right there tells me you have some sort of
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: mental disorder if you're collecting John Gacy paintings you're not
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: right in the head. But he's basically the one leading
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: the fundraiser saying, my wife is trying to be a
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: great American and defend all American values. Are you defending
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: them from fourteen year.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Olds assaulting fourteen year olds?
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: And by the way, the fourteen year old is wearing
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: a pro Trump shirt. Okay, that is who the president
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: of the United States is, and a pro Ice shirt,
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: which is an arm of enforcement in the United States.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: It's like wearing a US Marine shirt, a US Army shirt.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: We are proud of these people. This is anti American behavior.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: I don't care which side of the issue you come
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: down on it. We should all support our military and
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: our law enforcement officials, even though we have a bunch
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: of leftist Loans who continue to say they're a terrorist
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: mob or whatever. Apparently that the delusion continues, and there
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: are people who are giving money to her defense.
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: Wow, and she was here legally, I mean, I know
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: she's married. Now was she originally in the country legally?
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: I'm flip flopping between two different stories. Let me see. Okay,
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: this is from New Jersey dot Com. Tracy is a
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: Canadian citizen who entered the United States lawfully with a
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: passport in twenty twenty four.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: Okay, she was brought to the Ocean County jail.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: Okay. Then they just continue with her being arrested and
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: her husband very upset and blah blah blah. All she
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: did was fight for America. She's fight for America by
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: smacking a teenage girl in the mouth for wearing a
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: Trump shirt.
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: Hoof.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: We have a lot of division in this country, and
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: now the Canadians are adding to it.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: I don't know if you saw Bill Maher did a
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: brilliant piece the other night on you know everyone's bragged
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: about Canada for years, Oh the Great White North. It's
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: you know, it's beautiful, and they've got the healthcare system
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: that Trump's hours, et cetera. Bill mart did a great
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: piece on how the government up there has ruined Canada
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: and if you look at unemployment, if you look at
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: almost every statistic, you know we're killing them. Oh and
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: yet everyone continues to hold Canada up as Okay, this
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: is what we should aspire to be there.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: I forget which province it is, because I don't really
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: pay that much attention to Canada. But it's like whatever
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: one of the like the provinces is continually to having
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: these votes to try to secede from Canada. Can we
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: get out of because they're the only ones who actually
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: produce stuff. Apparently they're the production manufacturing hub. I'm gonna
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: guess it's somewhere near Detroit, that would be my guess.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: And they're like, we got to get away from these loons.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: They're taking all of our money and just giving it
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: to these crazy socialist activities. So anyway, please feel free
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: to feel free to wear your Kamala Harris t shirts,
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: feel free to wear your Trump T shirts. Nobody should
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: be smacked for wearing their political affiliation or even you know,
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of something that the leftists might
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: wear that the right would hate. But don't smack people
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: in the face over it. For God, especially not children.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: My goodness. All right, well that's my extreme opinion. Don't
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: smack kids. Maybe you have a more moderate opinion. Let
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: us know on the talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: In South Carolina's Morning News from.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: The State Capitol. This is South Carolina's Morning News with
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Kelly Nash.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: So, yesterday on congress or a congressional testimony, you had
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Amy Coney Ginsburg as some people are calling her after
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: her recent decisions, but also real name Amy Coney Barrett,
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: along with Elena Kagan, testifying that they need security and
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: to the tunes of hundreds of millions of dollars. And
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: this is just another sad update on the radicalization of
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: the left because the people on the right, I know
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: that they like to talk about right wing extremism and
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: all that sort of stuff, but the right wingers are
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: not the ones that are going and getting in front
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: of their houses even when it's something that the right
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: wing extremely disapprove approves of. It is the left that's
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: doing it. And you know, even Elena Kagan is being
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: threatened by the left when she votes with the majority.
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: So it's one thing to hold a protest on the
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: steps of the Supreme Court building, it's another to stalk
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: these justices as they go home at night.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: And why have we not launched a security business, because
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: that apparently is the gig to be in according the
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: justices are asking for two hundred and twenty five point
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: one million dollars for next year for security. Well, it
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: is security and other things to go through. But I
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: actually believe every word they're saying that their lives are
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: now in danger, or, as Jack Nicholson said, grave danger.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: Is there any other kind every time they leave the
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: building because we have radicalized so much of America and
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: this is horrible that we have to do this. But yes,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: I think we need to approve this. We need to
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: make sure that the justices are safe. What other options
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: do you have that they get a ruling quote unquote
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: wrong by mob standards and we lose them. That would
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: be the nuttiest of nutty things. I can't even imagine
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: what the country would be like then. Anyway, sad update there,
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: but I think we're going to get the funding approved.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: All right. This is South Carolina's More News.
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: This is South Carolina's Morning News with Kelly nash.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Well. I think I might actually try to watch a
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: little World Cup action today, Christopher. This is being promoted
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: as the most bitter rivalry in all of World Cup history.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: Argentina England. It's three o'clock today, right, that's the and
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: they're in Atlanta? Is that right?
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: Atlanta? Yeah? So I'm jending champ Argentina.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: As it was described here. It's bigger than Red Sox Yankees.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: I would maybe for our friends here in the Southeastern Conference,
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: maybe Alabama, Auburn or Ohio State, Michigan. This is they
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: these countries apparently hate each other.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: You're not gonna throw Carolina Clemson in there?
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: Are we at that level?
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: Nothing's that big.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean I remember watching the ESPN
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: documentary where they were showing people were getting killed over
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: the Alabama Auburn game. I don't think we've gone that
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: far here. Yeah, we should. We love each other. We're
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: South Carolina. We can unite unlike those Alabamians. Anyway. That's
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: that's gonna be a big game today three o'clock, so
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: I'm sure you'll have the fresh updates for us tomorrow.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: First thing, I hope you all enjoy your day, and
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: thanks for starting it with South Carolina's morning news.
