- 0:00It says essentially a man, this Jewish hater, this anti semite,
- 0:03I wanted to kill us all. Him receiving the ring of power
- 0:07from the king did more to arouse the Jews than all of the
- 0:10prophets that we had speaking to us from God.

- 1:25in the middle of the night. Thank you, Steph, Thank, thank
- 1:28you to your whole family. My pleasure.
- 1:31And Elio, you know, I I didn't know how to pronounce your last
- 1:35name. I'll be honest.
- 1:35It was a Pereira. Pereira.
- 1:37If you're American, Pereira. Pereira like Ferreira chocolate,
- 1:42but like. Ferreira, but Pereira.
- 1:44But Pereira, OK, that's an easy way.
- 1:47I'm, I'm business partners with someone named Hellman and
- 1:50someone had to come for an interview and he said just ask
- 1:54for Mr. Hellman. Like the mayonnaise.
- 1:55This woman comes in and she's like, I'm looking for Mr.
- 1:57Mayonnaise. I'm like, you mean Mr. Hellman?
- 2:01Are they on the Chinese telephone?
- 2:03Exactly, exactly. Where's your family from?
- 2:05What's? Tell me what the name is first.
- 2:07So my dad is born in Brazil and our family is from the Spanish,
- 2:13Portuguese Jews. That's where chased out of
- 2:17Spain. So my family actually tried to
- 2:20play the game a little bit and stay in the stay in Spain and
- 2:26Portugal and to try to ride it out.
- 2:28And eventually they ended up in Brazil.
- 2:31And yeah, Roccozemi made it back, made it back to tour and
- 2:34meet with my dad, made a big leap and found out he was Jewish
- 2:37and. He found out he was Jewish.
- 2:40Yeah. How did that happen?
- 2:43He met someone and thought he spoke Spanish, but really it was
- 2:46Ladino. And that led to him finding out
- 2:49that we, we're from the, the Spanish and Portuguese Jews and
- 2:56essentially that we were conversos and, and my dad moved
- 3:00to Israel and learned tawa and, and made a big effort to, to
- 3:05raise a house that was connected to, to Torre Mitos percussion.
- 3:08So that's what my dad said. My mom's English, South African,
- 3:11and yeah, I was born in Miami. Oh, really?
- 3:15Lived in all of those countries and moved to Israel at 17.
- 3:18So one second. So your father found that he was
- 3:20Jewish when you were born already?
- 3:21No, no, no. How old is he when he was a
- 3:23teenager? He was a teenager, right?
- 3:24So when you were first born, you were where?
- 3:26I was born in Miami. You're born in Miami.
- 3:28Yeah. So take me through your journey
- 3:29real quick. Real quick from Miami to SWAT.
- 3:31Like how did that happen? I, like I said, I grew up living
- 3:35across the world as well and I ended up high school in Miami,
- 3:40middle school, high school in Miami.
- 3:42I don't understand what all the world means.
- 3:44Where's the all the world? I lived in South Africa, I lived
- 3:46in the Uki lived in Brazil and back in my, then came back to
- 3:51Miami. And when I was in high school,
- 3:54it wasn't going well and I realized I was in hanging around
- 3:58with the wrong crowd and didn't really have much going for me in
- 4:00the US. At what age?
- 4:03I knew that from 7th, 8th grade. They became abundantly clear in
- 4:08high school and at 17, after 11th grade, my assistant
- 4:14principal said that I pretty much wasn't welcome back the
- 4:17next year or if I did, I was going to be failing and there
- 4:21was no way I was going to do 2 more years of high school.
- 4:24So and I didn't want to be in the US.
- 4:25So I told my dad, please Get Me Out of here.
- 4:28Let me go back to Brazil or to to the UKI have family there.
- 4:32I can I'll get by, it's OK. And my dad had never sent me to
- 4:36Israel, never took me to Israel. So at 17 I got on a plane that
- 4:40spot you. Asked for Brazil and he took you
- 4:43to the spot. What am I missing?
- 4:44There you go. He didn't even take me.
- 4:45He sent me. So he told me to.
- 4:48Go. To the spot What happened from
- 4:50Brazil to the spot? So, no, the fact that my dad
- 4:53never actually took me to Israel.
- 4:55So it was an opportunity for me to go to Israel and there was
- 4:59so. He brought it up.
- 4:59He was like it. Was my dad's idea to go to
- 5:01Israel? I didn't think about Israel.
- 5:02No way. OK, for me it was not an idea.
- 5:05Right you were. Your heart was set.
- 5:06Brazil, UK. Let me get out of here.
- 5:08Let me go live with my family and children.
- 5:10And. That's amazing.
- 5:12How did Israel come up? My dad, my dad started doing
- 5:16Shiva when before my bar mitzvah and that changed everything in
- 5:20the house. And as it grew it, it made sense
- 5:23that like, you know, kids go to yeshiva at 1718.
- 5:26So I think obviously that had a part in it.
- 5:31But the fact that I, my dad was in Israel and was in the army
- 5:34and had lived in Israel, and the fact that I never went, I had
- 5:39already seen the world. It's not like, what am I going
- 5:41to go see in the same places that I already I've already been
- 5:44there. Israel, I had never I had never
- 5:46got. Yeah, you.
- 5:49Going to Israel? And everybody, I wanted to go
- 5:51out. So it's either I'm going to end
- 5:53up in the army or in the OR in yeshiva.
- 5:54I told my dad I want to patrol from the army because I happen
- 5:57to be Israeli. My dad's a citizen.
- 5:59So I was born with a passport and everything and, and
- 6:03essentially had to draft. But I told my dad, I don't want
- 6:06to go to the army and I'm not going to yeshiva.
- 6:09So I just, like, went to Israel. And there was a family, my dad
- 6:12had a connection with a family in Swat.
- 6:14And their daughter actually ended up in my house in Miami.
- 6:18And I went after a while, I was very out of place in Swat.
- 6:25And I liked Israel. It was nice.
- 6:29But I, I told my mom, yeah, I mean, I'm coming back after
- 6:33Hanukkah. And then I went to Yoshilaim and
- 6:37I went into a yeshiva there at 17, and after two days there, I
- 6:43was sold. I was yeah, Eric to sell
- 6:46forever, said Your shalam changed everything for me.
- 6:49Can you tell us which place it was where?
- 6:51I was in North America. It was in North America
- 6:53essentially. I mean, yeah.
- 6:55And it wasn't if you know that area of your Shalam, it's not
- 7:00exactly what the, you know, made me fall in love.
- 7:02But but the city, the fact that there was again, coming from
- 7:06Miami to Tvat, the old city of Tvat.
- 7:10So I'm like with a haredi family.
- 7:13So I was in the crazy culture shock.
- 7:15But then to come to your shalam and to see people my age, people
- 7:18chilling people, bars city. So I was like, oh, but with
- 7:24Torah, with kipot, with tsitsit, and I just fell in love.
- 7:30And then I met Aliyah. I went to the army.
- 7:33You end up going to the army. And I said the both the things
- 7:35that I told my dad I'm not going to do, I ended up doing, but on
- 7:37my own initiative, right? I don't know how was it even
- 7:40possible that you could not go to the army and not go to learn.
- 7:42That's not a pop. Then you're on the run
- 7:46officially, I'm saying. Right.
- 7:47No, you can make it happen because I didn't make it.
- 7:50Yeah, I had a patron from the army I did have, Oh, you did
- 7:52have it before I even got on the plane.
- 7:53How do how do people get petours?
- 7:55Meaning of Petours I. Lived in Miami.
- 7:56I grew up in Miami. I didn't live because I was
- 7:58Israeli, so they said I I got a tough Rashon to my house in
- 8:01Miami. By the way, if people don't.
- 8:02What's the tough Rashon? If the first order of like to
- 8:05show up to the Army for their first interview when you were
- 8:071617, so that was that letter was sent to my house in Miami
- 8:10so. What was that like for you?
- 8:12And who pays attention to that? I've never been to Israel in my
- 8:14life. I'm not going to hear military.
- 8:15I had no connection besides the fact that I'm a Jew and I pray
- 8:18three times a day and but Israel like it was, it meant nothing to
- 8:24me. My I knew my dad was in the
- 8:25military and he fought in Lebanon, but not I'm not going
- 8:29to the army. When I got there, I realized if
- 8:32I want to live in Israel, that's how I lies.
- 8:35What I'm about to say now is not my current belief and opinion
- 8:40for the masses, but for me it was at 17.
- 8:45If I want to live in Israel and make this my home, so I need to
- 8:49learn the language, I need friends and I need to understand
- 8:54how life goes here and in Israel.
- 8:57Everything revolves around the army, whether you're connected
- 9:00to it or not. The Israel of business, of
- 9:04everything like that. Especially when I was there in
- 9:06the beginning. Now it's becoming less and less
- 9:08with more modernization and corporate and the software
- 9:11companies and things like that. But even with that, it still is
- 9:13very connected. So the connections you make in
- 9:16the Army, where you served in the Army says a lot about you.
- 9:19Sometimes it's, it's that kind of society.
- 9:23So I figured if I go to the Army, there's a Ulpan program, a
- 9:28Hebrew learning program that you can draft into three months,
- 9:319:00 to 9:00 every single day. Hebrew speak your language, you
- 9:35came from the country you came from, you're getting in trouble
- 9:40and then go into the regular service as a combat soldier.
- 9:43I made a group of friends that we still have the same WhatsApp
- 9:46group from 2012 until now talking over a decade of being
- 9:51connected and trying our best to meet up and weddings and and I
- 10:00speak Hebrew very well. I accomplished everything I set
- 10:04out to get. And for me, it was a very
- 10:08important thing and a very important step of changing my
- 10:11life completely, of growing up compared to all of that in the
- 10:15lap of luxury, no matter what level of, you know, money we had
- 10:18in our family in different times.
- 10:20Going to the military breaks you as a person in a good way,
- 10:24hopefully. And it did.
- 10:27It changed a lot for me, but it also took me away from Torah and
- 10:32took me completely, like not in my mind.
- 10:35I always believed in a shem and I was always connected.
- 10:37But I stopped keeping Shabbat in the army and I started going out
- 10:41partying more and connecting with different friends and
- 10:45moving away from kedusha, even though I always had this kind
- 10:50interconnection. And I put on Philly and if you
- 10:53know, learn, I learned to out here and there.
- 10:55I went to show him, but I never had a problem with Toronto.
- 10:59I just, I couldn't keep up with it.
- 11:00And only after the army, when I had a desire to start my life
- 11:06and get married and settle down. So in my head, there was always
- 11:09this. I always knew it.
- 11:11Even when I was breaking Shabbat, I always knew like my
- 11:15house is going to be a kosher house, no questions about it.
- 11:20I know how to keep Shabbat. I know what Shabbat is.
- 11:22I know what Fila is. I know what the Jewish values
- 11:24are and I know all of that. There's no way I'm getting
- 11:27married to a non Jew. There's no way I'm getting
- 11:30married without me keeping toward me towards the best of my
- 11:34ability, whatever I knew that to be as a public school kid in,
- 11:38you know, in in South Florida. But I knew whatever it was, on
- 11:42whatever level it was in, it was a necessity in my life.
- 11:46And that essentially led me back when I I wanted to get married.
- 11:50I moved to Miami. Then I met Gadalia Fence there,
- 11:54Rabbnach one of wrestler Dalcemtov and flew back there to
- 11:59sell, went back to yeshiva, started life all over again, got
- 12:03married and Wilkesham. Now I live in Spud.
- 12:07It's a in in one, you know. I mean, there's so much I want
- 12:11to unravel there, to be honest with you.
- 12:12Go feel free. I'm, I'm just thinking, first of
- 12:16all, I I want to. Make a let's.
- 12:19Do it. Let's do it to the fact that you
- 12:21said publicly the following, which is if you're somebody that
- 12:30you're not right now Shamir Shabbat, you're not right now
- 12:32keeping kosher. And you know it's going to
- 12:34happen one day and it's in your heart and it's it's in your
- 12:37path. It's in your like you see it,
- 12:39it's your destination where you're heading towards, but it's
- 12:42difficult for you now. It's just challenging.
- 12:44It's Lukheim to that Lukheim to understanding that that
- 12:50challenge that many people have and it's just the way of life
- 12:53and to what I say to that is Lukheim to you.
- 12:58That's it. That's that's what I'm trying to
- 12:59say. So I'm going to pour you some
- 13:00wine here this. Is real.
- 13:02One that you're representing Shatte Svat, Shatte Svat, can
- 13:08you give us the 32nd history of this bottle of what we're doing
- 13:12here and. This is a 2020.
- 13:13What you're doing in America now?
- 13:15Aven A savion OK from twat. Essentially, we we a bunch of
- 13:20friends that together we've been all.
- 13:24Right, let's do this Ready And three Baruchatah Donai Eloheno
- 13:29Meleholam Bore PRI. Hagaffen, Amen.
- 13:39That was for you or she. By the way, people out there, if
- 13:44you ever hear Bracha recorded, it's not live.
- 13:47Even if it is live, if it's streaming, don't say I'm in.
- 13:52Really. Not allowed to.
- 13:54Whoa. Correct.
- 13:55Really. OK, if you're on the phone,
- 13:58that's one thing. What's up's already a question.
- 14:01OK, what do you what's up if voice not to you?
- 14:03What do you mean? Is what's up.
- 14:05Is essentially streaming and it's delayed.
- 14:07OK, so you're hearing a recording, you're not actually
- 14:10hearing the word? So when is it OK to say I'm in?
- 14:12When? If you're on a phone, yeah, a
- 14:14regular phone call. OK, that's actually the person's
- 14:17voice at real time. OK, so that's the only time
- 14:20you're like? When you when you're hearing it,
- 14:22you're talking this. If you're not what you're saying
- 14:24you're talking about, this is like a lot.
- 14:25More modern because the microphones and red but modern
- 14:28post scheme that I've ruled on this that a recording a tape
- 14:31even back in the times of tapes they had as well.
- 14:33What happens if you say a man is the lightning going to come
- 14:35strike? Nothing like what's no what I'm
- 14:37saying what what's the? Technically Novira.
- 14:40Really saying the the a. Man, a man is a holy word, like
- 14:43a bracha. Just like you're not allowed to
- 14:45make a bracha when you're not meant to or make the wrong
- 14:47bracha, so you're not allowed to say a man at the right improper
- 14:50time. Very crazy things are written in
- 14:52the kumara about saying a man in the wrong place.
- 14:54But this is not a Alaka thing. I was just a disclaimer.
- 14:56No, no, no, I don't care. I deal with it a lot with videos
- 14:58people, but I know I I just, I like to mention it here and
- 15:02there. Please.
- 15:03I like learning. There you go.
- 15:04This is something new to me. To you as well.
- 15:06Yeah, I know. I never knew this.
- 15:09It's listen. Meaning again, two people are
- 15:11talking and having you can, yeah, you say a man, but when it
- 15:14comes to brachas, so a man is essentially part of the bracha.
- 15:19And if it's it's what's called amania Tomah an an orphan.
- 15:24Amin has no reason to be said. And Amin is a holy thing.
- 15:28There's many deeper secrets behind the word Amin.
- 15:31And the whole idea, like we were talking about bracha is it's
- 15:36it's not, it's not a simple thing.
- 15:40There's I can show you afterwards.
- 15:41Remind me, I'll show you on my phone.
- 15:42But the Kabbalists have just one bracha.
- 15:46It's called Madaba Bracha, the the Liturgy of the Blessing,
- 15:51right? The how are you, how it's
- 15:53made-up, It's pages and pages of intentions and Shem's names and
- 15:58different spheres. With everything that's going on,
- 15:59every time you make a bracha, you're changing the whole entire
- 16:01world. So anytime those words, bohata
- 16:04shem come out of your mouth, you're evoking and bringing into
- 16:09the world a lot of energy that needs to come down in the right
- 16:11place. And the Amen is the seal on it.
- 16:15So to throw out in them in not for a good reason is not again,
- 16:19knowing you're not evil for doing it.
- 16:22It's not, you know, but. Right.
- 16:25You know, I, I learned that people who live in Spot are
- 16:28living in a different hemisphere and this is proof of that.
- 16:32And it's not, it's, it's a compliment to you.
- 16:35And I almost want to say that like, you know, I think that
- 16:39you're allowed to be jealous of someone when they're living in
- 16:42Israel. It's one of those things, right?
- 16:44It should be. I should be right, it's sticking
- 16:46to my face so I am jealous. Not suffering cannot suffering
- 16:49meaning like you're an aspiration looking jealousy of
- 16:52like you know it's a good thing not.
- 16:55Yeah, no, no, 100%. When I'm hanging out in spot and
- 16:57I'm with my good friend Rev Afshi Wangat.
- 17:00Yes, if a cockroach walks by, he tells me like what the purpose
- 17:04of it being here on the day and this time and the moon is.
- 17:07He's able to do that then and it's.
- 17:09Just unbelievable. It's just an unbelievable way of
- 17:12life. You're exercising your mind
- 17:13constantly and it's really, really cool actually to see, and
- 17:16I appreciate that. In our city, we don't have the
- 17:18ability to, to avoid noticing and paying attention to Ashika
- 17:24Pratit even here. Honestly, there are a lot of
- 17:27things even now just in your house.
- 17:29Ashika Pratit is divine Providence.
- 17:31The fact that Hashem shows up, God shows up in your life and
- 17:35you're able to connect the dots and to see the hand of God in
- 17:38the small details of your everyday life.
- 17:41That's the Baal Shemtov was a revolutionary in this idea.
- 17:46There's ways that you you see in the Rambam that only Sadiqim
- 17:50live with full, only if fully righteous people live with
- 17:52complete Ashka khaprati, it's complete divine Providence.
- 17:56And the Baal Shemtov once took his students and Baal Shemtov is
- 18:00the founder of the Hasidic movement and he took his
- 18:02students once into the forest and he made them look at a tree
- 18:08and then from a tree fell a leaf.
- 18:11The leaf is twirling down and down and down and down and the
- 18:15leaf lands and they're like, what do you want us to see here?
- 18:22What's the lesson there be you say go, go to the leaf.
- 18:26Go figure out what the lesson is and go.
- 18:29They look at leaf. They lift up the leaf and they
- 18:31see a bug underneath that was underneath the sun.
- 18:35No shade. And now it's showing me the
- 18:37barrack put some got to put shade on that, on that one
- 18:40little bug. Meaning that even a bug and a
- 18:43leaf is divine Providence. Even more so a human being in in
- 18:54spots. We can't avoid it though,
- 18:55because it happens so intensely. It does happen very, very, very
- 18:59intensely for good and bad. You know, No, it's right now.
- 19:01You can't run away. I I was laughing a second ago
- 19:03because on the way here we were talking about the fact that you
- 19:06had a podcast and what was the name of the podcast?
- 19:10Two hussids in a pod. Like 2 peas in a pod, but two
- 19:13hussids in a pod. Good, great days.
- 19:16How many episodes did you have? 40 + 4043 something. 40 plus,
- 19:20yeah. And that's by the
- 19:22congratulations to you. Most people don't make it past
- 19:2410. I'm saying like so.
- 19:25That's it's not easy, yeah. You know that it's not easy.
- 19:27It was. Corona time though we had
- 19:28nothing to do. And your podcast was mainly
- 19:32about what? It was about Tor and Hasidic
- 19:36principles, but given over in not even this format we had.
- 19:41We sat at a table, we had a Lochai and it was like a for
- 19:44bringing like a Hasidic get together, just speaking from the
- 19:47heart and we try to give over different principles and
- 19:51snippets and insights into how to baochuva Hasidically inspired
- 19:57Jews are young Jews are living and and how we see the world.
- 20:01So let let's tap into that for a minute, if you don't mind.
- 20:04You know, we have the candle, we have the wine.
- 20:06I don't have the round table to the station.
- 20:08This table is cooler. It's a guitar table.
- 20:10It's a very cool table. But I, I do want to get into
- 20:12that in a minute because what, what I was saying a minute ago
- 20:14is I have a lot of divorced friends and a lot of them have a
- 20:20challenging time with Shabbat. And we talk about it all the
- 20:23time. And it's difficult when you
- 20:27don't have responsibilities other than yourself and you're
- 20:30alone for so many reasons. Yeah, that's why I stopped
- 20:35keeping Shabbat as well. Yeah, In the army, that was
- 20:37pretty much what it was, 21 days on base.
- 20:40You get out for two days, all the Americans are out partying,
- 20:43and you're keeping Shabbat at home.
- 20:46It's not easy. Can you take us back to that for
- 20:49a minute? Like, I'm just curious if you
- 20:51don't mind. Like I'm, I'm fascinated by this
- 20:54topic in general because of the way you put it.
- 20:57And that's what I was saying before earlier to you.
- 20:59I am to you and I I really. If I could spend the entire time
- 21:02talking about this, I would. Take you back to it.
- 21:08Yeah, no, just the understanding.
- 21:09If you don't mind me, I'm. An 18 year old kid.
- 21:12OK, I'm I'm assuming that the Jews that are watching this most
- 21:17likely grew up keeping Shabbat for the most part, but I didn't
- 21:23fully and even when I did, it was half.
- 21:27And then I went back to a public school the day after, right.
- 21:30And, and if I could sneak my phone or my Xbox on Shabbat, I
- 21:36was, I was doing it. I.
- 21:38Just want to go back to the first time when it happened even
- 21:40like yeah. No, So.
- 21:42So I'm saying no, I'm saying in my own personal life, Shabbat
- 21:44never was exactly what it was for you growing up even Never.
- 21:48I never had. Like, I understood that there
- 21:50were things you're not allowed to do.
- 21:51But practically speaking, I wasn't there.
- 21:54My family wasn't there, so, but I didn't know.
- 21:57I knew outright. OK, whatever.
- 22:00A kid can know of Shabbat, right?
- 22:02You know, electricity is forbidden.
- 22:03You know that, you know, you can't get in a car.
- 22:05And there's things that you know, when I got into the army,
- 22:09now I'm 1819, 20, and I'm all day long on base with people
- 22:17that are don't think like me, don't even I barely speak the
- 22:20language. And I'm not exactly with like my
- 22:24boys, my friends, people that I get along with and have the
- 22:28similar interest in where it happened to be in fighting
- 22:30together. And we have to love each other.
- 22:33We have to get along. And when I get off base.
- 22:37So when I lived, when I lived in your Shalaim, and this is more
- 22:40relevant to everybody. When you live in a community
- 22:42that has Shabbat that you have the ability to go to meals.
- 22:45If you're single, divorced, single, same thing, right?
- 22:48You have the ability to go to to a meal.
- 22:50You have the ability to you have a show, you have a show that you
- 22:54have some sense of community, that you have who to keep
- 22:57Shabbat with. People forget this.
- 22:58We're a tribal people before we're a nation.
- 23:01We're we're a family, grandfather, son, grandson,
- 23:07tribes, then a nation. And the tribal aspect never
- 23:11really left us. Exile has clouded it up.
- 23:15And come to Swat Singh, the Khadodi, you feel you're back in
- 23:19the tribe again, a little bit different.
- 23:22So when you have that, so then yeah, you can struggle with
- 23:27Shabbat. But it's still, at least you
- 23:30have the structure, you have the infrastructure there for you to
- 23:32keep the Shabbat to, to tap in as much as you can.
- 23:36In the middle of my Army Service, quite early actually, I
- 23:40moved to Renana. And in Ranana I wasn't in even a
- 23:45religious part of Ranana. I was in like an older no life,
- 23:51no, nothing, no Shabbat, no. And there was a bus to Tel Aviv
- 23:59that there was. And to get off and to know that
- 24:02for the next 48 hours I have to sit in my apartment by myself
- 24:05and eat crackers and challa and tuna.
- 24:09I, I get disgusted about it on base to, to eat it now as my
- 24:12Shabbat meal. It's not Shabbat.
- 24:15So is that right? No, it's not right.
- 24:17But really, I remember those that thought process back then.
- 24:21This is very dangerous. But I'm being real again.
- 24:23And I'm talking about it that right now as a kid, I, I need, I
- 24:29need social life. I personally am a very strong
- 24:32person. I can understand completely how
- 24:35a person can fall into depression and not pick themself
- 24:38up from that. Like, I was a kid that didn't
- 24:41want to be in America because I saw how I was going.
- 24:43So there, I didn't want to go crazy, so I stopped keeping
- 24:47Shabbat. That's what it was back then.
- 24:49Really. If I do not hang out with
- 24:51friends, if I don't get life every 25 days, 21 days, 16 days,
- 24:57when I get off base, if I don't go out, I'm not going to be me.
- 25:01I'm it's not going to last. Forget Shabbat.
- 25:05As a human, I'm not going to have life.
- 25:09And now looking back, I could say the right thing to do was to
- 25:13move back to your Shalayam, to move to Akila, to move to a
- 25:15place where I had and I would have.
- 25:18Now if I had to go to the army, I would be more so nefesh on
- 25:20that. I wouldn't.
- 25:22I would give my life to not give up on Shabbat for what I know
- 25:24for Shabbat means to me now. Not a day in my life would not.
- 25:30No money in the world could make me break Shabbat.
- 25:33Nothing in the world besides a human life would make me break
- 25:37Shabbat and buying a house in Israel from a non Jew.
- 25:40That's a it's allowed on Shabbat.
- 25:42What are you talking about? Allah get out of here.
- 25:45If a non Jew owns property in Israel and you have the ability
- 25:48to buy it on Shabbat, you do everything needed including
- 25:51talking to banks, wire transfer, writing check, every single
- 25:55thing driving anything you need to do Wow.
- 25:59And you know that exists now in Israel from Arabs that own
- 26:03houses there. Too many of them.
- 26:07I'd love to get into that too in a minute, but you?
- 26:10Just you had a whole podcast though with the.
- 26:12Exactly with the Shabbat thing now, the reason why I was I
- 26:14wanted to talk about that also is because you mentioned that
- 26:16you had a podcast of two husses and a pod and it was deep.
- 26:20And that's what I was saying, like, you know, so if you want
- 26:22to connect the dots for a second, if you don't mind, and
- 26:25then we'll get back to the. Wine we forgot, I just.
- 26:27Want to connect? I'm good with jumping back and
- 26:29forth by the way. What does Trump call it?
- 26:31Weaving. Weaving.
- 26:33I have no idea. Just connecting the dots there.
- 26:38So if you were doing your own podcast and you're looking back
- 26:43at that journey of not keeping Shabbat and keeping Shabbat and
- 26:47knowing and and and I brought up this topic specifically because
- 26:54people who put on filling on people stop people on the
- 26:57street. Yeah, put on filling or come
- 26:59from me Shabbat or put on a keep on this and that.
- 27:02I'm always curious about the people that are not observant.
- 27:05Do they get annoyed by it? Is it annoying?
- 27:08Is it something that you want us to do?
- 27:10Do you want us to draw to to draw you back into Shabbat or do
- 27:14you want us to bring you back to kosher or to fill in or coming?
- 27:17Join a mignon or come learn a little bit.
- 27:21I was never had. I never had the opportunity to
- 27:23ask anyone this question. And I'm asking it to you, and I
- 27:26want you to put yourself in the mode of the podcast and talk
- 27:29about this topic for a minute if you can.
- 27:35If you ask me as a person that was not religious, do I want
- 27:39that that that Eliao that was in the army that wasn't keeping but
- 27:45knew what it was? Yes.
- 27:47Every Khabadnik, every person that invited me to a minion, any
- 27:49rap that showed up to my base was literally like the best
- 27:58fresh of breath air. It was like, like, imagine a
- 28:01fish lived out of water and that mitzvah was like being thrown
- 28:06into the ocean for a second for however long it lasted.
- 28:10I remember being on base and a rabbi showing up and I run out
- 28:13of bed. I didn't care how tired I was.
- 28:15And I'm going to hear Torah. I remember that.
- 28:17So on the side of the Rakasha, my brother, the Khabad Nikim
- 28:22that go around and, and I'm, I'm bringing people closer and doing
- 28:26mitzvah and pushing people to connect.
- 28:29If it's done with Derek Eretz and it's done it the right way,
- 28:32100% obviously everybody human beings can be annoying right
- 28:36then. But yes, as a there's definitely
- 28:41people. Again, there's a not, there's a
- 28:47person that could be Jewish that never had a connection.
- 28:50He doesn't know anything. There's a person that's never
- 28:57never been religious, but he has a bad taste for religion.
- 29:01There's a person like me that I was never religious growing up
- 29:04until 11/12, right? But I loved, I went to shul, I
- 29:09went to Rosh Hashanah, I went to Yom Kippur in a Orthodox shul
- 29:12and, and Shabbat that we did Kedush and I wasn't religious.
- 29:16So Pheline, you're going to ask me, Of course, I'll put on
- 29:18Pheline where I'm Israel, where is it right.
- 29:23So I can't answer for everybody, but me personally, yes, every
- 29:27single person like that was a was a a beautiful gift from
- 29:31Akash Baraku from Hashem. Now with what I know dealing
- 29:37with people and essentially trying to help people and Jews
- 29:42specifically come closer to Hashem every day.
- 29:45That's my that's what my what life surrounds.
- 29:51I think that Mish Patim, we just had not to time this podcast
- 29:56right. Don't worry, it's.
- 29:57Not going to sit since. By the way, I recorded in
- 30:03September, I said a Torah by he put it out.
- 30:08Wow, wow. OK.
- 30:11And and Parashat Mispatim Ramire Liao says.
- 30:14That but by the way, stuff in in one year, let's please.
- 30:20Don't and and it says that when Mispatim has shut the similith
- 30:24name, these are the laws that you should place in front of
- 30:25them. Ramire Liao says these are the
- 30:26laws you should place in front of them.
- 30:27Ramirez, you should place in front of them.
- 30:28Sometimes when you make and he's about you by himself as well.
- 30:31Ramirez Liao says that sometimes all you have to do is put
- 30:34something in front of a person. Sometimes you, all you have to
- 30:38do is just, you know, give them a book, send them a link.
- 30:43No, you don't have to force them.
- 30:45And, and I believe in that unless a person is asking, if a
- 30:51person's asking me personally with a gauge, but if they're
- 30:56already asking, go. But if they're not asking and
- 31:01you're trying to get them in, so then you have to be very wise
- 31:05about it. And I think that the best way is
- 31:07by living that example, making Torah cool.
- 31:11That's the thing for me too on Shabbat, Why didn't I keep
- 31:13Shabbat? And I think that's why a lot of
- 31:14people struggle with Shabbat. If your approach to Torah is
- 31:19always kind of honest reward and punishment.
- 31:21And you're going to go to, again, known if you do this
- 31:23wrong on Shabbat and you're going to go to Ghana.
- 31:25And if you do this right on Shabbat and it's all about what
- 31:28am I going to get out of Shabbat?
- 31:30So you don't really have Shabbat.
- 31:32You have a very shallow level of Shabbat.
- 31:35But it's not the relationship Shabbat that me personally that
- 31:38I have right now, I'm not saying this, God forbid from ego.
- 31:41It's a gift that Hashem opened my eyes to deeper Torahs and a
- 31:44deeper way of living. But that level of relationship,
- 31:49that's why I said I'm not willing to give up on it, not
- 31:51for any money in the world, not anything.
- 31:52Because it's not about do the wrong action, do the right
- 31:56action. My Shabbat is, it's a 25 hour
- 31:59meditation that I'm not willing to give up on and it's
- 32:03everything. Everything's in there.
- 32:06All of life comes, a life comes alive on Shabbat.
- 32:10So do I want everybody to keep Shabbat?
- 32:15Yeah. But I don't think that it's like
- 32:19to invite a person to Shabbat is very important to give them
- 32:23exposure, to make them feel welcome.
- 32:26And Ellie Deutsch has got a big influence on me.
- 32:31And everybody for many, many, many years helped me.
- 32:35There's an old city in Jerusalem.
- 32:37And at his table in Shabbat he always would have, from seminary
- 32:41girls, yeshiva boys, birth writers, the whole world at his
- 32:44table. It's the Old City in the Rover,
- 32:46right? So I went there a lot and
- 32:51usually was further along the line, religiosity and
- 32:54spirituality than the majority of the table and the Baltruva
- 32:59learning tour and everything. And he always used to tell me,
- 33:03don't speak Alaka at my table, don't bring up Alaka at my
- 33:05table. And it would drive me crazy as a
- 33:09Baltruva, you know, learning and like you're Alaka and you're
- 33:12changing everything and you know how important Alaka is.
- 33:15It would drive me crazy that he would tell me like my Rob is
- 33:18telling me on my table not to speak Alaka now on my table,
- 33:23same rule, pretty much. Not exactly, but the same ruach,
- 33:27the same energy, the same vibe. Why a fresh balchuva?
- 33:31The thing he needs right now is not a Laka.
- 33:34He does need to learn it. What he needs more than anything
- 33:38is the fact that a sham is everywhere.
- 33:40What is a sham? How to talk to a sham?
- 33:42How to bring a sham into your life?
- 33:44How to make everything have meaning, How to.
- 33:47That's the most important thing. And if you do it right, then
- 33:51they're going to realize they need a Laka, and they're going
- 33:53to realize they want to learn a Laka, right?
- 33:56But first, build a relationship before the law book.
- 34:00Yeah, yeah. You live now in Swat, of course.
- 34:03So you're Shabba Sam are very holy.
- 34:05It must be. You've been there.
- 34:06Very, very cool. I'm saying yeah, I've been there
- 34:08only for once, you know, I'm saying it's, it must be an
- 34:11ongoing thing. It's not just a one time thing.
- 34:14You have any cool traditions that you do for Shabbos?
- 34:16Just curious before I get back to the wine thing.
- 34:19So tradition and personally in my house, in my house, I
- 34:28personally wear a jalapia who I think you.
- 34:32Oh, the whole white. Robe thing, I think you even
- 34:34wore them, yeah. I put it on.
- 34:36I tried, it's been on one. Foot, Some of you wore them.
- 34:40I don't know if everybody did, but why do you?
- 34:42Wear that. What's that?
- 34:43What's? Beggedyvri classic.
- 34:48I don't know. It's the Moroccan.
- 34:51It's I, I just I've always been me personally, I have from from
- 34:54when I'm a child, very connected to Moroccans.
- 34:57I'm, I'm Sparty. I don't look it.
- 34:58But within this farty world, I'm Spanish, Portuguese, which the,
- 35:03the, the Nusak, the the ADA, the tradition is not so alive.
- 35:08And my personal closest attachment is to the Moroccan
- 35:13brothers that we have and their tradition.
- 35:14There's Sadiq Hum and their songs and and also the dress
- 35:18kind of stuck on social Shabbat. I have my, I have my Moroccan
- 35:21dress and, and whatever. What other traditions do we
- 35:25have? Michael, you remember that Yasi
- 35:30Green also from that couple that he met on the plane, they were
- 35:37Moroccan and he also, they also put on those.
- 35:41Yeah, listen, I don't know. For me, I, I have a Rebbe that's
- 35:46a, a big Sadiq and being by him is super special in Shabbat.
- 35:50And so that she sheets for me is a huge thing for me personally.
- 35:53So that she sheets the third meal of Shabbat is the highlight
- 35:56of my week. It's the most important time of
- 35:58my whole entire week. And I I very rarely am willing
- 36:04to give up on it. Really, I don't mean to make
- 36:07this about me in terms of this conversation and maybe it most
- 36:11of our listeners don't even care about Sudhachli sheet, but shala
- 36:15shuddh, right? I sleep through shala shuddh.
- 36:19So maybe you can tell me. I'm sure I'm willing to learn
- 36:21and I'm I'm open. For sure, and especially in
- 36:24Shabbat, when we come, we come into Shabbat from the six days
- 36:27of the week, 6 days of the week is this world.
- 36:30Shabbat is the world to come. So the night time, the
- 36:34kabbalists explain it is the energy of Bina.
- 36:36Bina essentially is all of our passion and our yearning and our
- 36:42our drive for, for holiness. That's a Friday night.
- 36:45We sing Kabala Shabbat and Kedush and the meal is filled
- 36:48with song and all that connection.
- 36:50Why? Because we're this is how I
- 36:52understand it. This is how I explain it after
- 36:54my learning in these types of teachings that we're essentially
- 36:58fighting to come out of the week into Shabbat.
- 37:00That's why that fire, Bina is connected to the fire as well.
- 37:03The passion that's aroused on on the night.
- 37:05The morning is more connected, they say, to Hokhmah, which is
- 37:09more relaxed. Beetle giving in to a sham,
- 37:11nullifying Shabbat morning wake up, this long davening, sitting,
- 37:17you know, you just, you're giving in.
- 37:18You have to be there, you're there.
- 37:20Obviously there's a more beautiful sight to it as well.
- 37:24When you get to Sudarshan sheet, it's everything together.
- 37:27It's the fire, the singing, the passion, and also it's the end
- 37:31of Shabbat. You're tired, you've already
- 37:33eaten, but here you are forcing yourself again to do it, be told
- 37:36to Hashem. You're giving it to Hashem.
- 37:38You're keeping a mitzvah, you're giving oneg to Shabbat and the
- 37:41song and the Torah that comes down at that moment.
- 37:44It's the it's Ketter. It's, it's the highest level
- 37:47that you can reach in the whole entire week.
- 37:49It's called the will of wills in the Czar.
- 37:53And I, I don't know how to explain and put it into words,
- 37:56but I've seen countless miracles and I've had countless deep
- 38:02experiences and a heart opening crying sessions and complete
- 38:09attachment to whatever level I can reach to a sham.
- 38:12And the most frequent time when it happens is Sada Shashid.
- 38:16So wow, yeah, it's Sada Shashid is a integral part of my life.
- 38:23I've OK, yeah, I get. I know it's maybe not so no.
- 38:28No, no. And I also know most people
- 38:29don't live in spots and have what we have there, so I can
- 38:32understand. But today I have to say brokers,
- 38:34I'm here in Pomona. I had a very beautiful Sulacius.
- 38:37It was nice. It was.
- 38:39All right, I'm I'm sure that my shul has a beautiful Sulacius
- 38:43and it's just too, too challenging for me.
- 38:45I am tired at the end of like you said, but you're but you're
- 38:48saying is and something that I learned recently about loving
- 38:52God is that there is a one side of it which is loving God and
- 38:56the other side to balance it is being in awe of God.
- 38:58The era of. God, it's both you right and
- 39:00that and that's true love, right?
- 39:02If you if you're with your wife, you only keep the the wedding
- 39:06contract. It's not really the best
- 39:10marriage. Right.
- 39:10So you got to, you mean you got to suffer, you're saying?
- 39:14No, no, that's that's the wedding contract is the the, you
- 39:18know, just the what I have to do what I commit to, but no, I get
- 39:21it. And beyond the.
- 39:22Reason why I'm, the reason why I'm saying it is because you
- 39:24specifically said that it's difficult for you and yet you're
- 39:27doing it anyways. So I'm, I'm trying to accept
- 39:30that and saying even if it might be difficult for me, it's part
- 39:33of growing in my connection to God is doing something that's
- 39:36not so easy for me. So yeah, you know, so because
- 39:38someone asked me over a year ago, his name is Doobie and he's
- 39:44an awesome dude. And we were schmoozing about
- 39:46loving God and serving God. And he said, why do you keep
- 39:48kosher? I said because I love kosher.
- 39:51Why do you keep Shabbat? Because I love Shabbat.
- 39:52And every single question he was asking, because I love it.
- 39:54I love it, I love it. And then we both realized that I
- 39:56don't do anything out of era. I don't do anything out of awe
- 39:59of God. I do everything out of love.
- 40:01So therefore I had a difficult, a difficult time with Fila, with
- 40:04praying and with. Another that everything comes
- 40:11down to Tefilla, but that's so my Sudarshishi this is
- 40:13essentially a a very powerful Tefilla tila for me is
- 40:17meditation and it's a connection to Hashem.
- 40:19You can talk and you can and that time is the sweetest time
- 40:25to go into it. But yeah, I also on Tefilla,
- 40:29there's the sign of showing up three times a day and and
- 40:32standing there for an hour and going through 100 pages and.
- 40:34And also we don't get taught as kids that it's a meditation time
- 40:37to connect to God. We're taught that if you don't
- 40:39say these words exactly, you know, we had someone more Robbie
- 40:41on the podcast the last I think last time.
- 40:45We're going to probably do this episode after and he was talking
- 40:49about changing the sitter and that got a lot of attention.
- 40:51There are people that are that have commented that they're
- 40:53working on and they have already see durian that can you can
- 40:57teach young boys and girls the true meaning and the value of
- 41:01the words while you're saying it's a kudos to MO for bringing
- 41:03that up. And so if I have to share this
- 41:05with you because it happened on my ECAP, right?
- 41:09Speaking of Morocco, so many people did not go to ECAP and
- 41:13they went to Morocco because laser trying to make a wedding.
- 41:15ECAP is a nursing home trade show that happens once a year.
- 41:18It's more like a conference. It's a high level conference
- 41:20with bankers and owners and service providers, vendors, they
- 41:23all get together and it's very, very high level.
- 41:26You know the cost of it is high, but the return of it is also
- 41:29high, like everything else in life.
- 41:31I hope. So I'm walking around ECAP and
- 41:35you know, I keep getting like Pats in the back and you know,
- 41:37every two feet like, oh, I heard the MO Robbie podcast, loved it.
- 41:41You know, I heard the Shimmy J podcast, love the Shimmy J, MO
- 41:43Rod because Shimmy J came on and he recommended MO Robbie and the
- 41:46MO Robbie came on and I'm talking to a group of like 10
- 41:48people and we're all talking about the podcast.
- 41:50But I'm like, guys, you know what's interesting?
- 41:52I had a spy that got arrested and served in prison his pretty
- 41:57much his whole life. I had a United Airlines pilot
- 41:59who dropped the first bomb pretty much on Afghanistan.
- 42:03I've had so many interesting people.
- 42:04All you guys care about is MO Robbie.
- 42:06I'm like, wow, you know, like Jimmy J like that's a big and
- 42:09I'm like, but but what really happened and transformed for
- 42:13this podcast specifically from that conversation, actually, to
- 42:15be honest with you, is that people liked the depth and the
- 42:18authenticity of a real raw conversation that goes in a that
- 42:23they would talk about if they were sitting right here, you
- 42:25know, and I almost wish I had more chairs and more cameras and
- 42:29lights and so on that to have people enjoy a conversation.
- 42:32And a lot, many times I'm in a conversation and people will be
- 42:34like, this is a podcast. This is what I'm like, I guess
- 42:38my whole life I've been living a podcast, but it was just
- 42:40interesting. But MO also brought something up
- 42:42that I want to ask you about. And he was talking about the
- 42:46whole movement of thank you, Hashem and those type of things.
- 42:49And you mentioned the Baal Shema?
- 42:52What's that, by the way, started in Spot?
- 42:53What started in Spot? Thank you Hashem.
- 42:55Really. Their inspiration was from Thank
- 42:57you Hashem of Swat there. Tell me about it.
- 43:00It's a two friends of mine that started a thank you Hashem with
- 43:02little, you know, the Livestrong bracelets and it was thank you
- 43:07with AU Hashem and. Who were these guys?
- 43:13Mushi, David Klein and and Gabriel Schmolyzile to.
- 43:18Why did they start it? They're in love with Hashem.
- 43:21They wanted to spread. OK, so they made bracelets.
- 43:23Yeah, OK. And it you can't call how long
- 43:26it was ownership and thank you, Hashem, if anybody gets it, it's
- 43:30Musharraf in or Davida Melek. It's that so so they they said
- 43:35go ahead, do your thing in New York and it became this
- 43:38beautiful thing. But go ahead.
- 43:39I'm just no. No, I want to hear that.
- 43:40What do you mean? Go ahead and do.
- 43:41Someone met them and said something.
- 43:43Yeah, those it spread and then they turned it into what it is
- 43:48now. Someone saw it in spot.
- 43:50You're saying You're saying a. Lot of things start in spot and
- 43:52spot doesn't get the credit. That's why I felt the need to,
- 43:55you know, just because. That's why I.
- 43:56I personally feel that if more people understood how many
- 43:59things came out of Spot that changed the whole entire Jewish
- 44:02face of the world, more people would come to Spot and try to
- 44:05find that that sparked themselves.
- 44:07Like I'm from some Spot wine. You know what, let's jump right
- 44:12into that first, then tell me about the spot wine.
- 44:14I'll go back to thank you in a second.
- 46:34But by the way, two of the most challenging words to spell.
- 46:37I mean, really. Well, it's going to be linked
- 46:39under the Billy door. I'll comment below everything
- 46:42you need. You know that spot on ways is
- 46:44spelled? Safed 1,000,000 different ways
- 46:46like safed, Zephad, zephad, zephad with AZ with.
- 46:50AI have to I have to help you with coming up with a new name
- 46:52of the website. Go ahead.
- 46:53But so to get into the details, there are over 20 mitzvot
- 46:59commandments in the Torah that are directly connected to
- 47:03agriculture and are only relevant to the agriculture of
- 47:07the Land of Israel. 20 around, you're saying that's a lot.
- 47:10I thought it was OK. Breaking down, it comes minimum.
- 47:13Examples. For example, when you plant a
- 47:15new tree, you're not allowed to eat from it for three years.
- 47:18A fruit tree. On the fourth year, you have a
- 47:21commandment to bring the first fruit to the temple in Jerusalem
- 47:24or to Nowadays we don't have the temple.
- 47:26We sanctify it and we don't use it.
- 47:29There is Shmita, the sabbatical year of resting the land, which
- 47:33is a ginormous mitzvah, which are essentially whole entire
- 47:36life surrounds. We don't, we're not so conscious
- 47:39of it because again, we're in exile.
- 47:40But it is real and there are people that still keep it.
- 47:44In Israel, it's pretty real. Correct.
- 47:45It's very real in Israel. It's real, right?
- 47:48I'm just for the broader Jewish people that we grew up here.
- 47:51Right. We don't feel it at all.
- 47:52It's interesting. But and when you get into
- 47:55agroosers in Israel, it's very felt the 6th, 7th, 8th year are
- 47:59it's life changing times for them and all of these mitzvot
- 48:06again, even as an as a person that lives in Israel, I don't do
- 48:09them. If I don't do them, I'm not
- 48:11involved in them. Some are OK to promote my soil
- 48:14to buy fruits from an Arab, I have to do that.
- 48:17But if I go to the supermarket or if I go to my local grocer,
- 48:21it's already done for me. So how much am I really doing
- 48:24it? I'm not.
- 48:25Most Israelis are not. If you're a farmer, you are.
- 48:29Or if you have a garden in your house, maybe you're involved in
- 48:31it, right? You have some trees in your
- 48:33backyard. Maybe you're getting to Truman
- 48:34and Masoud. So it's an amazing thing that
- 48:38the Torah has so much to say about.
- 48:41For example, in the Midrash of Somalaya, asked the question,
- 48:45why did Michelle Bennu want to go into the land of Israel so
- 48:48badly? He paid 515 prayer is just to go
- 48:53inside the land of Israel and he asked the question, does
- 48:59Musharra Banu need its fruit? So as Jews right, we answer
- 49:05every question with questions. So there's a few questions you
- 49:08can ask on this question. Why does the word sorry need and
- 49:14not want? And why would this Rav from the
- 49:20times of the Tanayim and have a question on Musharra Benu?
- 49:26What do you need to eat the fruit in the land of Israel?
- 49:28That's the thing that Musharra Benu needs to eat fruit.
- 49:30It's a question, right? Valid question.
- 49:34Good question. So the teaching is that Musharra
- 49:39Benu really the deficit that Musharra Benu had the highest
- 49:43level of the era of all possible.
- 49:46So does he need fruit of the land of Israel?
- 49:50Well, shame needs more awe. But what does that say about the
- 49:53fruit of the land of Israel? That it gives you awe of God, It
- 49:56gives you yhachamayim. So the question was, does
- 49:58Mushair Abedu need the fruit of Israel?
- 50:00That he needs to go inside of the land of Israel?
- 50:02He needs more yhachamayim that he has to go bad so bad.
- 50:04And he already spoke to God face to face.
- 50:06What more does he need? That means for all of us, the
- 50:10fruit of the land of Israel has the ability to give a person.
- 50:12Yhachamayim has the ability to open a person's eyes up.
- 50:16Like, yeah, God is present here. If it doesn't rain, we're in a
- 50:19big problem. And that the farmers now in
- 50:23Israel that are literally going a year without doing any
- 50:26business a year plus. It's not just Shmita one year
- 50:30you have to prepare for shmita. You have to revive from the
- 50:33shmita. These people are are going out
- 50:36on a limb purely forgotten. When is it happening again?
- 50:40The the next it is in three years.
- 50:41In three years. In the fourth year right now,
- 50:43right? OK, so there's many of these
- 50:46mitzvah that again, people can't do.
- 54:03How much is this bottle that we're having now?
- 54:05This this. I you don't know.
- 54:10Yeah. Is it a $40 bottle or $100?
- 54:11Bottle I think 90. 90 OK, it does taste like a $90.00 now
- 54:16that I know it's $90.20. 20 time.
- 54:21On one of the first episodes we had, I was taking wine and
- 54:23someone told me that if you swirl it in your mouth, you get
- 54:26the feel of it and you close your nose.
- 54:27It's like a whole thing, but. Yeah, you can just drink it too.
- 54:30You can just drink it. Don't say this wine is special.
- 54:32You have to have. To be enjoyed, It's not.
- 54:34If it's good, it's going to feel good 100%.
- 54:37I agree. I do want to get back to
- 54:38something you discussed earlier, but I want to finish the thank
- 54:40you Hashem discussion. I said, you know, it's Mosa
- 54:43Shabbos, it's a minhug. It's a tradition to talk about
- 54:46the Baal Shemtv actually correct in in my world.
- 54:50In my will too, every week we have a Baal, Shem, Tov, Shira.
- 54:53What's? So what's your feeling on the
- 54:57Thank You Hashem movement? Talking about the best baby,
- 55:01right? What's your what's your response
- 55:04on that topic? I think it's the most important
- 55:06thing that needs to happen in the Jewish world right now is
- 55:08for people to talk more about the Baal Shem Tov ere.
- 55:11It's a Sal Binyan Beta Mcdash, of course, but the Baal Shem Tov
- 55:14is that Baal Shem Tov's light in the teachings of him and and his
- 55:18students and their students is the path in Torah that is
- 55:25bringing us closer to Mashiach consciousness, to prophecy, to
- 55:30going back to activating everything that the Torah really
- 55:33is. The Bolsheptov, famously, his
- 55:36Rebbe was Akhiya Shailoni. Akhiya lives from the times of
- 55:41Masha'abenu all the way into times Eliao Navi's Rebbe as
- 55:46well. It's one of these long souls
- 55:50that we had in in in the Tanakh and we know most, most
- 55:57Kabbalists learn from Elianavi. The Baal Shem Tov learned from
- 56:01his Rebbe who received Torah from Oshera bin Baal Shem Tov's
- 56:07Torah I I just finished teaching over 100 classes in the Baal
- 56:12Shem Tov from a book called Sharia Baal Shem Tov.
- 56:14One of my Rebbi's put together. He compiled 18 chapters of
- 56:19different topics of everyday Jewish life and what the
- 56:23Baashamtov had to say on it with sources.
- 56:27Baashamtov's teaching, some of them are very Kabbalistic, who
- 56:30deem the unifications and meditations and some of them are
- 56:33are very simple, just reshaping how we look at things in order
- 56:37to re tap into them. And it's it's a toy that's very
- 56:41needed. The Baashamtov himself tells a
- 56:42story. He tells it to his, to his
- 56:44brother-in-law, that on one Rosh Hashanah he did an aliat
- 56:48neshama, sole ascension up into the higher realms on Rosh
- 56:54Hashanah, and he ended up in the echal of the Mashekh, the
- 56:58Mashekh's chambers. And he asked Mashekh, when are
- 57:01you coming, When are you coming? And the Mashef's answer was
- 57:08lichiafutu minor teka khuta dot dot dot.
- 57:12I'm saying it that way because for most of them you saw that
- 57:15knows the story. That's the story that they know.
- 57:18But if you actually read the the letter after the dot dot dot,
- 57:21there's no dot dot dot there. The consentence continues.
- 57:31Not only will your wellsprings and your Torah spread out across
- 57:34the world that people will do meditations and unifications and
- 57:38ascensions like you. The Baal Shem Tov was like what
- 57:43he gave him weakness of the of the mind.
- 57:46You're only going to come when the world is on my level with
- 57:51humility. A person's meant to recognize
- 57:52their own level. Baal Shem Tov was on a high
- 57:55level. It's not the he saw the light in
- 57:59every simple drew, but for them, for the farmer to be the Baal
- 58:01Shem Tov is not exactly the same thing.
- 58:03Even the Baal Shem Tov knows that.
- 58:06And now we're in a generation that you see it's, you can start
- 58:12to see the light at the end of the tunnel, tunnel of how it
- 58:14actually it's spreading. It's spreading more and more and
- 58:18more and people are getting more and more into it to to make a
- 58:21bracha properly, like we're talking about to eat the
- 58:23importance of joy, running away from depression, singing music,
- 58:28the life that we just had in the middle of America.
- 58:32That's the Vascento. And if every Kayla, if every
- 58:35house had a taste of that, that 2% of what you just had, the
- 58:39world would be a better place. I mean so would be true or not?
- 58:42I appreciate that compliment. Not only a compliment, just on
- 58:45the side of the fact, right if if a.
- 58:47Compliment, because that is life.
- 58:49Correct If if we all and it goes both ways.
- 58:52The amazing thing is the Baal Shem Tov.
- 58:55Again, there's Baal Shem Tov stories and ideas and and then
- 58:59there's the Baal Shem Tov inside.
- 59:04Highly recommend whoever wants to get inside the Baal Shem Tov,
- 59:06get inside the Torahs, learn it, learn what he actually had to
- 59:09say, not just the the myths and the stories and the, the actual
- 59:14Torah out of this world cannot be compared to anything else out
- 59:18of this world. Sometimes the most simple thing
- 59:20that the Baal Shem Tov just flips how you look at it and it,
- 59:26it has a huge, huge effect on the neshama.
- 59:29It's validating Torah, it's powerful Torah, it's living
- 59:32lively, lively towards connecting, it's to everything
- 59:37and the Baal Shem to one of his main rules was a dumpster.
- 59:39For that negative of our person needs to know the blemishes in
- 59:42their heart. Your downfalls, what you're not
- 59:45good at, what you suck at, what you struggle with.
- 59:47You have to know it. Because if you know that so then
- 59:51you're aware of it. You're conscious, you know who
- 59:52you are. Only that will allow you to
- 59:54truly be in Simcha. If a person thinks that
- 59:58everything's OK and they have to be so sensitive that Oh my God,
- 1:00:01God forbid my blemishes get out, the God forbid someone else
- 1:00:04knows I'm having a bad day. So you're walking on extras and
- 1:00:07you're lying to yourself and everybody around you.
- 1:00:09Anyway, when a person's able to, Yeah, my life can be bitter.
- 1:00:15I feel bad a lot of the time. I feel so far from a sham.
- 1:00:20I have tons of aspirations that I can't achieve.
- 1:00:23Yeah. But then a time of simple comes,
- 1:00:26a good time, a good vibe. I need it.
- 1:00:29I'm lacking, I need this. I just danced in your house.
- 1:00:32Why? Because I needed to dance.
- 1:00:34Not just because the vibe was good.
- 1:00:36I needed to dance. I'm not in there to sell.
- 1:00:39I'm away from my family. I need it.
- 1:00:42I need it. I'm not feeling good.
- 1:00:44I'm not in my natural zone. So in a situation like that,
- 1:00:47because of the Placento, because I'm not going to press, if I
- 1:00:50know that if right now I dance, right now how I feel I dance.
- 1:00:56That's it, Everything's perfect, everything's OK.
- 1:00:59Hashem is here. That that's Bashem to, that's
- 1:01:02from Nachman, that's Kabad has these stories as well.
- 1:01:05Everybody, all the students of Bashem Tov, it's the Gula.
- 1:01:08It's the Gula. You said before.
- 1:01:10I love everything you're saying. You said before, yeah, Torah
- 1:01:13being cool. And now we're talking about the
- 1:01:15Bolshamtov, the holy Bolshamtov. And I think this is the
- 1:01:17challenge. This is the I don't know if this
- 1:01:19is the proper time to use this word, but I always love when
- 1:01:22rabbanim use it, the juxtaposition to the Torah cool
- 1:01:27and you know, Holy Bolshamtov. How do we?
- 1:01:31How do we? Go hand in hand.
- 1:01:33What's that? They go hand in hand.
- 1:01:34The Bolshamtov fought all the rabbanim that used to go around.
- 1:01:37He didn't fight them, but he told them he warned any and he
- 1:01:39spoke out about against it other abenim that were scaring people
- 1:01:43into Judaism, scaring people in. If you don't do this, you're
- 1:01:46going to go to Hagenome. And 12 times it's written in the
- 1:01:49Torah, Motimat, if you break Shabbat, yeah, all of that is
- 1:01:54true. Maybe not that aggressive.
- 1:01:55Says there's Emmet and there's Emmet Lamito.
- 1:02:00True, It's true. In the Torah, it's written 12 *
- 1:02:02a person breaks Shabbat, they're going to die in this world, in
- 1:02:04the world to come. It's true.
- 1:02:05You can't go around it or you're going to lie.
- 1:02:07The same humans, the same Torah we've had for thousands of
- 1:02:10years. Is that how I need to bring a
- 1:02:12person in closer into Shabbat? That's the truth that I need to
- 1:02:15tell about the Torah that's going to make a person connect
- 1:02:17to Shabbat. Or is it that how to deal with
- 1:02:20all of your heart, The Bauschinto says 1 pairak of
- 1:02:23Taylee and 1 chapter of Psalms. With all of your heart you shake
- 1:02:27all of the world's in the heavens, everything you change,
- 1:02:30everything. I can't tell a Jew about that.
- 1:02:35I can't bring him into Torah that way to show him the light
- 1:02:38that he's going to get out of connecting.
- 1:02:40You think the power that he has? You think the Baal Shemtov would
- 1:02:43have been OK I guess with the way you're saying it.
- 1:02:46And I'm accepting what you're saying.
- 1:02:47And I agree actually. I just say his words.
- 1:02:49No, no, I'm talking. About I'm talking about coming
- 1:02:51the back of the bus baby, the best baby.
- 1:02:54That kind of talk is what I'm saying.
- 1:02:56That's what I'm saying. How would the Baal Shemtov
- 1:02:59you're talking about connecting Jews to to him through the those
- 1:03:05type of catchy phrases and kibitzi ways of talking That's.
- 1:03:09What so now we're going I don't know, I talked from my heart,
- 1:03:14but I get what I get what you're saying.
- 1:03:16And I think also the heavy from thank Yoshim also are coming
- 1:03:19from their heart and I think about something of 100% would
- 1:03:24not only accept it, embrace it to tell you that I'd more we
- 1:03:29will see you that way. I don't see that the Baal Shem
- 1:03:32Tov would see a lot of the admogram as being the Baal Shem
- 1:03:34Tov. Baal Shem tov didn't have
- 1:03:36uniforms. Baal Shem Tov didn't make cookie
- 1:03:39cutter juice. It's the complete opposite.
- 1:03:43What was the situation the Baal Shem Tov the the historical
- 1:03:46situation of a Jewish town Back then you had a a non Jewish Lord
- 1:03:50or a Duke or whoever it was that was in charge of the whole
- 1:03:54province and you had the Jews living in his province and you
- 1:03:58had a chief rabbi and 1 shell one shokat, one more hell.
- 1:04:02And if it wasn't all the same person, which most of the times
- 1:04:05it was. And where did he take his orders
- 1:04:07from? Because he's a Jew living inside
- 1:04:09a goy's land. He didn't have to pay
- 1:04:12protection. He didn't have to answer to the
- 1:04:14Duke, to the Baron, to the Lord. So what happened?
- 1:04:191 Shoal. That means you have how many
- 1:04:21minionium? Probably only one lucky if you
- 1:04:24have two. What does Shokhana will say?
- 1:04:27You can pray until Shakarit till midday.
- 1:04:34There's times for sure you want to make it, but you're allowed
- 1:04:37to pray Shakarit until midday. But what happens if you live in
- 1:04:42a town where there's only one show, one minion, and if you
- 1:04:45don't make it to 8:00 and if you don't make it, you're not, what
- 1:04:49happens then? So comes about sense of any
- 1:04:51students. We don't care about the non
- 1:04:54Jewish rule and ruler and his rules.
- 1:04:57We care about God. And now you have a stable minion
- 1:05:02factory. That's a hasidic thing.
- 1:05:07So what was it coming back to true authentic Judaism.
- 1:05:10I can I pray until Qatar right or wrong am I allowed to I woke
- 1:05:14up later I have whatever reason it was I need to pray now.
- 1:05:18Minion comes together of the ten other Jews that just like you
- 1:05:21can meet themselves at their low level and come together to
- 1:05:24connect to Hashem. So if the Baal Shem Tov was OK
- 1:05:26with Jews just being Tehelin, I don't know the Yiddish term or
- 1:05:33the tailing suckers or whatever it is, right?
- 1:05:35Just say to Helium all day long, Yeah, I think he would be OK
- 1:05:39with this. I personally am a person that I
- 1:05:42don't like mockery and and gimmicky things too much, but
- 1:05:49our generation does. Our generation does and it is a
- 1:05:53place for it. I think you know.
- 1:05:54You know what, our generation also is dealing a lot.
- 1:05:59If you don't mind me shifting a little bit, but going back to
- 1:06:02what you said a few minutes ago, anxieties, challenges, internal
- 1:06:08challenges, depressions, you said something interesting a
- 1:06:13minute ago. You said something about the
- 1:06:15fact that you have to accept what your life is and then you
- 1:06:18have to work on being the simcho or work on yourself and being a
- 1:06:22positive thing, even accepting it.
- 1:06:24I one of the things I learned from my therapist a long time
- 1:06:28ago, Rabbi Spivak, who I hardly see now.
- 1:06:31But, and I'm saying it on purpose because there are times
- 1:06:34where I see him a lot and there are times where I see him less
- 1:06:36and he's like, you know, like my doctor, I check in with him, you
- 1:06:38know, no different than anything else in, in life.
- 1:06:42So he's, he's taught me a couple of things about this process.
- 1:06:48And one of the things that he taught me is that if you have
- 1:06:51anxiety and you keep asking yourself like, what do I have
- 1:06:55this anxiety for? Why am I depressed?
- 1:06:58Why am I anxiety for? He says it's the same thing like
- 1:07:00looking at yourself if you had to get, God forbid, your leg
- 1:07:03amputated. And everyday you're saying my
- 1:07:04leg is amputated, why is my leg amputated?
- 1:07:09I can't get out, but my leg is amputated, right.
- 1:07:12He said just imagine it that way.
- 1:07:13Is that just accept what God gave you.
- 1:07:16And he he wasn't coming from a place of God.
- 1:07:18He was coming just from a mentality place.
- 1:07:20And I'm taking it for both. Just accept what God gave you
- 1:07:23and just deal with it. And and, you know, sort of like
- 1:07:26grow up and move on. Yeah.
- 1:07:29You said something earlier and it just it's sitting on my head
- 1:07:33and I had to listen to all that. I had to make believe I was
- 1:07:35listening to all that so I can ask my question.
- 1:07:37You know, people like have something to say.
- 1:07:39They don't listen to any. Stuck in the one place exactly
- 1:07:41that's. Why I felt a few minutes, to be
- 1:07:44honest with you, run away from depression when you said that I
- 1:07:50was like, I I wanted to jump out of my chair because.
- 1:07:52That's the thing. It's an active thing.
- 1:07:53It's not a. So so.
- 1:07:55You have to be active. So I want, I want to talk about
- 1:07:57that for a second. I want to get into that and just
- 1:08:00ask you when you say something like run away from depression,
- 1:08:03run away from depression, I'm depressed when you run, let
- 1:08:05depression run away from me. You know, I, I, there was a time
- 1:08:08once when I was going through a, a challenge and someone
- 1:08:12suggested to me, he said, come, you got to go to Florida, get
- 1:08:16away from Florida. I said, no, what I need is for
- 1:08:18the challenge to go away. I don't need to go to Florida
- 1:08:21right now. Do me a favour, come back to me
- 1:08:22in a week. You know, there are times that
- 1:08:24we all go through that in life. Just leave me alone.
- 1:08:26Let me do my thing, let me fix it together with a sham's help.
- 1:08:28And you know, but now I don't need to go away.
- 1:08:31Now I need to be right here, right?
- 1:08:32So, so when you say something like run away from depression,
- 1:08:35you got to get into that. Tell me what your thoughts are.
- 1:08:38What is depression to you? Where's it come from?
- 1:08:40How do we deal with this type of feeling anxieties and just take
- 1:08:44me through that world? Because one of the things that
- 1:08:46I've I've I've accomplished also in this process is doing some
- 1:08:50breath work. So when you started saying
- 1:08:52dancing, I'll never forget the breath work guy who came to me
- 1:08:54and said, let's dance. And I'm like, dance, get away
- 1:08:56from me, dance. So I want to encapsulate all
- 1:08:59that in this conversation and just talk about.
- 1:09:01So. We'll talk about depression.
- 1:09:03Of course, Besimkhara, Abnakman says Besimkhara is the letter is
- 1:09:06makshava thought, and you're mashiva, you need to be bisimka
- 1:09:12and your thoughts need to be. If Nachim says you can only have
- 1:09:15one thought at a time, we can't control what thoughts come into
- 1:09:19our head. We can influence it and we can
- 1:09:21create a better arena and a more conducive thing to hold a brain
- 1:09:24that holds pure thoughts and is trained and educated to think
- 1:09:28better. But we can't really control our
- 1:09:31thoughts. They're coming all the time.
- 1:09:34We can control what we think about though what's coming in
- 1:09:40there and what's happening is one thing.
- 1:09:42What we focus on, what we allow to stay there, that is in our
- 1:09:47control. And if you're having bad
- 1:09:50thoughts, we have an obligation to change it.
- 1:09:52Now that sounds simple. And there again, there is
- 1:09:55clinical depression and then there's what most of us in our
- 1:09:58generation are going through, which is we still also call it
- 1:10:00depression, right? But it's not a chemical
- 1:10:02imbalance necessarily. It's.
- 1:10:04It's financial imbalance. Yeah.
- 1:10:05It's the relationship imbalance. Exactly right.
- 1:10:07So, so everything that we think about and the story that we tell
- 1:10:12ourselves in our mind, whether it's the story or it's the facts
- 1:10:16on the ground, but even if it's facts we interpret in a certain
- 1:10:19way, that knowledge, that mindset gives birth to emotions
- 1:10:29and those emotions give birth to other emotions that cause us to
- 1:10:34make decisions and take actions. And if the story up here is not
- 1:10:40right, so then it trickles down that way and it creates a
- 1:10:45situation that in your heart and in your actions and in your
- 1:10:49speech is detrimental and not and not OK and not and not safe
- 1:10:54and not, not at all good, not connected to God.
- 1:10:59It's not a good thing. Why does it happen?
- 1:11:02For many reasons, but we have an obligation, according to the
- 1:11:06Hasidic masses to to fix it. We can't allow ourselves to be
- 1:11:10there. The outcome of depression, which
- 1:11:13is essentially a person that doesn't have a moon, that
- 1:11:17doesn't have a belief that right now everything's OK,
- 1:11:20everything's in Hashem's hands, everything is fine, I'm taken
- 1:11:25care of, God runs the world and everything is a OK.
- 1:11:29When we lose that mindset, we feel disconnected.
- 1:11:33And if I don't connect to God and to others around me, so I'm
- 1:11:37left by myself and when I left by myself, I still need to find
- 1:11:41pleasure. Human beings, all the Kabulist
- 1:11:43teach that our number one need is pleasure.
- 1:11:47The reason that we came down here, mainly our souls, but
- 1:11:50needs more than anything is pleasure.
- 1:11:53Tanook rooted very high lofty place in ketter kabbalistic
- 1:11:57terms, but pleasure is a is a is #1 need of the human soul has
- 1:12:05and we're always going to need that pleasure.
- 1:12:07But when we feel that we don't want to connect to anybody or to
- 1:12:10God and we just want to be alone and the world can continue on
- 1:12:16without me for right now, I need to go into my little hibernation
- 1:12:19and process or just be in my funk or whatever it is.
- 1:12:23Then that gives birth to laziness, and once you get lazy
- 1:12:28and you're not doing boredom, boredom's craziness.
- 1:12:31And then it leads to a whole list of sins and different
- 1:12:34things that are again a sin. You want to look at it in a more
- 1:12:38modern strip, the spirituality of it.
- 1:12:41Very bad things for you to do as a human being, as a healthy,
- 1:12:44normal human being. Things that are not conducive
- 1:12:47for your life and the success of your life.
- 1:12:49Most of them are that in a very simple way could.
- 1:12:51You give me an example. Cheating on your wife, Stealing
- 1:12:54from people, spilling seeds, all these things are known to not be
- 1:13:00conducive for success and for good moods and positive energy,
- 1:13:06right? I'm saying stripping the
- 1:13:07spiritual belief of emunah and Torah because I know there's
- 1:13:10multiple people listening here with different levels and
- 1:13:12different beliefs. But as human beings, there's
- 1:13:15certain things that are not good for us to do.
- 1:13:18The Torah calls a lot of those things sins, meaning God told
- 1:13:21you not to do them. When you go against God, it's a
- 1:13:22different level, right? But even if you want to take God
- 1:13:25out the picture, so to say, as a human being, there's things that
- 1:13:27we can't allow ourselves to get into.
- 1:13:29Laziness, depression, detachment, not wanting to
- 1:13:32connect to other people, not not being willing to talk to others
- 1:13:36or to even process what I'm going through myself.
- 1:13:39Just wanting to consume and to take and to be turned off and to
- 1:13:42not have any kind of connection is a horrible place to be.
- 1:13:47We have to run away from it. And I say run away because we
- 1:13:50have to be proactive about it. It's not your friend.
- 1:13:53I don't know what to tell you in the situation.
- 1:13:55I don't know the situation, but to go to Florida, maybe it
- 1:13:57wasn't the right thing to do, but it could have been that it
- 1:13:59wasn't the only thing that you should have done that was done
- 1:14:02100% the right thing that you needed to do.
- 1:14:04Because sometimes we just need to move physically in our mind.
- 1:14:09Again, I said it's our mind that tells a story and that trickles
- 1:14:11down to our emotions, which trickles, trickles down to our
- 1:14:13actions. But what happens if you can't
- 1:14:17change your mind? What happens if you can't think
- 1:14:20better, if you can't get out of the funk comes with Nachman and
- 1:14:25many other Suffocidian different, different books that
- 1:14:30we had throughout the times of the Kabbalists that tell us do
- 1:14:32something physical and after your actions, your heart will be
- 1:14:36pulled. You have to do something
- 1:14:40physical, sort of, Nachman says. Clap your hands, dance, really
- 1:14:45dispute something of you know, some kind of word, just a joke,
- 1:14:50something, do something because change you.
- 1:14:52A lot of times depression is a pattern.
- 1:14:54It's an outcome of a pattern. Break the pattern, break the
- 1:14:57pattern. And the more you get conscious
- 1:15:00of this, the more you are aware of it, the more you see it
- 1:15:03happening. And like in my house, my wife is
- 1:15:07probably going to see this in our house.
- 1:15:08It's known. We have also my wife did a
- 1:15:10beautiful painting in our kitchen that says this kitchen
- 1:15:12is for dancing, right? And in our house it's nearly a
- 1:15:16rule if I catch her or she catches me feeling down music
- 1:15:22and dancing in our generation that happens.
- 1:15:26We dance a lot in our house, but when do we dance?
- 1:15:30We dance also just simple times, Arab Shabbat, getting ready for
- 1:15:34Shabbat today. And a lot of times we dance
- 1:15:38because we need to out of the bitterness, out of the yeah.
- 1:15:47So it's we can't accept it. We can't accept it.
- 1:15:50And this is probably the hardest thing in our generation of the
- 1:15:54self destruction that comes out of not wanting to connect and
- 1:15:57not feeling life and not Hashem. I, I'm going to say this, I'm
- 1:16:02going to say this and I don't, I'm not poking fingers or
- 1:16:04jabbing, but I grew up in this country and a huge reason that I
- 1:16:11decided to stay in Israel and continually want to stay in
- 1:16:14Israel is because that's what Israel is.
- 1:16:17Israel. You guys all know, whoever lies
- 1:16:18to you and says Israel's safer than anywhere else.
- 1:16:20It's not, it's not. It is in the overall picture and
- 1:16:26it is biblically and it is, yes, 100% the only plateau, Zion is
- 1:16:31the place of refuge. 100% it's our home.
- 1:16:34Yes. The facts on the ground is that
- 1:16:37it's a pretty dangerous place and we have to go through a lot
- 1:16:41and we all go, not everybody, but a lot of people go to the
- 1:16:43military and a lot of people have know people that have died
- 1:16:45and have traumatic life, insane extreme ups and downs.
- 1:16:52But the UPS are UPS. The UPS are UPS.
- 1:16:56And when I lived in America and also when I come down here, a
- 1:16:58lot of times I feel that life here is pretty plateau, kind of,
- 1:17:05you know, pretty in the hospital.
- 1:17:09That's never a good sign. Might feel comfortable.
- 1:17:15I know as an American growing up here and I know this is American
- 1:17:18culture. Jewish and non Jewish Americans
- 1:17:21don't like too much change. You get your comfort, you get
- 1:17:24your level of comfort, your standard of living, how it is,
- 1:17:26the same routines, things like that.
- 1:17:29The Parliament meeting with the gentleman and the Hyman, all
- 1:17:32these things that we have set up and if something, so then all
- 1:17:37the sudden everything gets shaken out.
- 1:17:41Life is that this is God's world.
- 1:17:44It's not our world. We're all here to serve God.
- 1:17:49God is selfish enough to create his own little playground.
- 1:17:52We're all here. His toys we have No, sometimes
- 1:17:55you have to remember that if we forget, depression also comes a
- 1:17:58lot of times because we feel that it's all on our shoulders.
- 1:18:01We have to do it. So if the success is all mine,
- 1:18:07so the failure is all yours. But if it's all a sham, so then
- 1:18:12you can stay more balanced in your ego that on the UPS and the
- 1:18:15downs, you did really well in business.
- 1:18:17Thank you. A sham.
- 1:18:18You fell fine on your face at the Expo.
- 1:18:20Thank you a sham when it comes back to us.
- 1:18:24And yeah, this world sucks and it's really brutal.
- 1:18:27And there's many, many, many reasons for a person to be
- 1:18:30depressed of Joey Rosenfeld. You know you had him on the
- 1:18:34airport, yet you had him on the podcast.
- 1:18:35I did not. I learned.
- 1:18:37Him. Every Sunday I have a cover.
- 1:18:40So now his name is Alex Chertok. Every Sunday I learn with him.
- 1:18:44Rob, Joey. It's the most important thing in
- 1:18:46the world. Joey is.
- 1:18:48Amazing, but. He says it's.
- 1:18:50Articulate to us. He says that the fact that a
- 1:18:56baby was pulled out of its mother is enough of a reason to
- 1:19:00be an addict for the rest of your life.
- 1:19:04The most traumatic thing ever is going to happen to your life was
- 1:19:07birth. It's enough of every.
- 1:19:11This world is crazy enough. You don't have to judge anybody
- 1:19:14for being addicted or being depressed or anything.
- 1:19:16This world is that insane. Vascento says.
- 1:19:20Why do we call? Why is what's the name El
- 1:19:21Shaddai and why is that the name of this world, which by the way,
- 1:19:24Shaddai is π 3.14? I'm sorry, I grew up in an
- 1:19:28environment where you're not. Let us say the words what you
- 1:19:29just said. I'm saying it you're allowed.
- 1:19:31To say it without saying kill a shakai, I'm just like you're
- 1:19:35saying I hope. When you're saying it when the
- 1:19:37right reason, yeah. OK, no, I'm happy because I like
- 1:19:41because there's a song called El Shaddai and I love hearing it.
- 1:19:45In a song I it's probably here. We go do.
- 1:19:48You know what I'm talking about. Do you know the song?
- 1:19:52No, it's farting actually, and a lot of Hassidim hold that.
- 1:19:56If you're singing a song and it's the full pursuit, you say
- 1:19:58Sham's name. Not everybody holds this, but if
- 1:20:00you're saying it in Niratama, if you're saying it for Sham with
- 1:20:03honor, so he says, why is that the name of this world,
- 1:20:08Shammagla, Olamo die, he said to his world, die enough.
- 1:20:12What's olam in Hebrew? Concealment.
- 1:20:15The word, The word for world in Hebrew is olam, concealment,
- 1:20:19ALM, hidden. What's hidden?
- 1:20:23That everything's God and everything's godly.
- 1:20:26That's what's hidden in this world.
- 1:20:27And what are what level are we on?
- 1:20:29The level where Hashem had to say to his world, Die enough,
- 1:20:33stop here. That if it would have gone Baal
- 1:20:36Shemtov says 1 level below where we are right now, Malku de malku
- 1:20:39d'acia Dacia, I'm not going to translate it.
- 1:20:42And if we got lower than that, we wouldn't be able to come
- 1:20:45back. We wouldn't be able to recognize
- 1:20:47God, We wouldn't pass the test. We are in the lowest place
- 1:20:51possibly to be and we're still doing the toilet that we're
- 1:20:55still trying to. We have to fight for.
- 1:20:58Below us is death. Below us is clipboard.
- 1:21:00Below us is the worst places possible.
- 1:21:03So your standard of living, your basic joy that you need
- 1:21:06throughout your day, you can't give up on that.
- 1:21:08You have to fight for it. Wow, It's a little bit easier
- 1:21:12for you because you're a little bit higher and spot in the
- 1:21:14mountains. And I tell this to a lot of my
- 1:21:16friends when we talk about Israel, I say it's one thing if
- 1:21:20you hardly go to Israel, but if you never went that spot, you
- 1:21:22are missing out on life. And it's the most magical city
- 1:21:26and the most magical environment in the world.
- 1:21:28And at the times that I love to go, there is Hanukkah time, I
- 1:21:31love Shabbos Khanuka. I'm curious when is your some of
- 1:21:33your favorite times that's? Definitely one there leg bomer.
- 1:21:36Leg bomer? Sure.
- 1:21:37Yep. Essentially all year long.
- 1:21:40That's why I live there. I know we have the pockets.
- 1:21:43Definitely like. How do you afford to live there?
- 1:21:46I mean, financial afford, Yeah, Yeah, I mean cheaper.
- 1:21:51How do you work? How do you how do you do
- 1:21:52anything? I'm curious, what's your income?
- 1:21:53I did work. I mean, now the wine.
- 1:21:55I understand that. But no, it's not really even.
- 1:21:57I mean, it is, but not it will be exactly.
- 1:22:00That's the goal. The truth is, I managed their
- 1:22:03visiting Center for four years from.
- 1:22:06The the visiting center of the winery.
- 1:22:07Correct. There's a beautiful story I've
- 1:22:09seen. I've seen you there now I'm
- 1:22:10remembering years ago, OK. It's I managed that until
- 1:22:14October 7th. Since October 7th when the war
- 1:22:16started, so tourism in Israel was shot and everything shut
- 1:22:20down. I had been teaching Torah
- 1:22:22already on the side and my rabbi told me to go full time into
- 1:22:26teaching and we opened the Beijing draws of English people
- 1:22:30that want to learn inspired Torah of the nefesh, the kind of
- 1:22:33things that we're talking about now, how to approach the Torah
- 1:22:36in a deeper, more meditative way like it was intended to be
- 1:22:40taught. People don't know this, but
- 1:22:42first show, the first I like on the show, the Rama gives you a
- 1:22:46whole breakdown of how to meditate and to bring God into
- 1:22:48your life with a you hood from the Rizzo in the Mishnabura.
- 1:22:52Really Mishnabura Rama start the Shukhana na Rukh off with
- 1:22:57Shiviti Hashem Nidhi and a whole entire meditation of how to
- 1:23:00bring down God consciousness from the realm.
- 1:23:03That's the first Allah Khan Shukhana Rukh, the book of
- 1:23:05Jewish law. The first Allah Khan is to
- 1:23:08meditate on God. How many people taught you that
- 1:23:12way before whoever ever. I'm not saying I'm the only one
- 1:23:16that did this. I live in the city that this is
- 1:23:18the Shukhana Rukh was written in our city.
- 1:23:20It came out of its spots with all the Kabbalah, right?
- 1:23:23So, so I, I teach Torah essentially every day and I try
- 1:23:28to help men online in coaching people that like, like, we're
- 1:23:33having this conversation, you know, right?
- 1:23:34This is not something that you and a few of our listeners are
- 1:23:38struggling with. I struggled with this for many
- 1:23:39years. I still am working on myself,
- 1:23:41but at least I have the books. What part?
- 1:23:43What part of it? When you say you've struggled
- 1:23:45with it, what do you mean? Like, like I said, everything in
- 1:23:47the beginning of, of of living a spiritual life in the modern
- 1:23:49world. Yeah, or you're saying you're?
- 1:23:51Right. Yeah, and just like you also
- 1:23:54talked about some things we do because I love Hashem and it
- 1:23:56feels good for me to do it. And some things I'm a little bit
- 1:23:59not there because I don't fear Hashem that much.
- 1:24:03We are. We're all, we're all on the same
- 1:24:06right spectrum. So I just want to say first, I
- 1:24:08wish you a lot, a lot of the shmaya bracha, mazel parnasa,
- 1:24:14everything you need to succeed in everything you're doing.
- 1:24:17Hashem should give you the ability to continue to learn and
- 1:24:20teach and to influence. And you know, we should
- 1:24:23celebrate a glass of wine together soon with the coming of
- 1:24:27Mashiach in your Shalayam. Is that the same?
- 1:24:30I think comes through its font, or maybe it's very near it's
- 1:24:33font. But she went by Yohai says and
- 1:24:34parashed by hatred and Miram Meloise that when Mashiach
- 1:24:38comes, he's going to come to the city of Tsvat.
- 1:24:40Tskhatame team will happen. Everybody will come together in
- 1:24:42spot and walk together to your Shalayam.
- 1:24:45OK, check me. You should tell the real estate
- 1:24:47brokers and spot this. They know it.
- 1:24:52You know, but Speaking of wine, and we're going to, we're going
- 1:24:54to wrap up in a minute, But Speaking of wine, Purim is
- 1:24:57around the corner and it's Adar. It's Purim is coming baby.
- 1:25:01And I love Purim. It's one of my favorite
- 1:25:04holidays. It's, I would say it's it's.
- 1:25:06Purim in Spot? You asked me what's the time in
- 1:25:08Spot? Purim in Spot We do 2 days, we
- 1:25:11do 2 days. We read the Mickey Love four
- 1:25:13times, so yeah, that's also a special time.
- 1:25:16I would say Purim is of the at least top ten holidays of mine
- 1:25:21thinking which one? And I'm like, I love all
- 1:25:25holidays. I love being Jewish.
- 1:25:26I got to be honest with you. I love every part of it and you
- 1:25:29know it. It's it's hard to pick one, but
- 1:25:32Purim is coming and we drink wine.
- 1:25:35And Speaking of MO, Robbie, love you MO, by the way, it's
- 1:25:40amazing. He opened up a a world of
- 1:25:42discussions for our podcasting, which is this one-on-one, you
- 1:25:45know, depth session where we can get real and talk about things
- 1:25:48that are in people's minds with people behind put it on his
- 1:25:51status. Then he realized he's got to be
- 1:25:53careful because people drink and they drive and and it's
- 1:25:56dangerous and in spot. You don't have to drive.
- 1:25:58You could just walk everywhere so you don't have that issue.
- 1:26:01Give me a lesson of give me a lesson of Purim.
- 1:26:03Give me something, you know, the Megillah, the the story of
- 1:26:07Purim. Give me something that before we
- 1:26:10close up here today and we do the final things that we do
- 1:26:13before wrapping up, what's your thoughts on Purim and you know,
- 1:26:18in general and anything that we can learn from your journey or
- 1:26:22so Purim and Hanukkah are rabbinical holidays that were.
- 1:26:26Instituted after poems mentioned in the Tanakh already and one.
- 1:26:35We light candles and the other we.
- 1:26:37Get drunk 1 is very spiritual and all about the light and
- 1:26:43essence of God and the other one is about the body and about
- 1:26:47eating and getting drunk and the fact that there was a Holocaust
- 1:26:50then we survived the poem's an amazing Torah a more.
- 1:26:55Amazing time for Torah also because the Jewish.
- 1:26:57People, it says Kimuvi Kiblu that we took upon ourselves and
- 1:27:02established and kept all the Torah.
- 1:27:05So the Torah was given before Purim, long time before Purim.
- 1:27:12And it says there, 'cause I'll say the Rabbi say that Hashem
- 1:27:17forced us to get married, right? He put a mountain over us.
- 1:27:22It's either you take the Torah. Or I'm going to drop it.
- 1:27:25And here you're going to be buried.
- 1:27:28That's Iraq. That's all.
- 1:27:31And when it came to the Purim? People don't know this, but the
- 1:27:35story. Of the Miguela is 9 years long,
- 1:27:39it's current events over 9 years didn't.
- 1:27:42All just happen in. You know, not even one term of
- 1:27:46AUS president. It's over more than two was the
- 1:27:49unfolding of an event of a month, many events.
- 1:27:52But the the the culmination of all of that Megillah that the
- 1:27:56Jews were metia hadim, not just the Jews.
- 1:27:59It doesn't even specify that. It says obey, but I mean it's
- 1:28:03metia hadim. A lot of the people of the world
- 1:28:06of the nations became Jews. People were converting.
- 1:28:09The Jews were becoming more Jewish, people were converting
- 1:28:11to Judaism. It says in the Megillah, What
- 1:28:16does it mean that the Jews becoming Jewish?
- 1:28:19In Hanukkah, the Jews were. Medievanim were becoming Greek,
- 1:28:25and here in the Jews when. It came to the body play with
- 1:28:33our soul, this that Sometimes people don't know it's it's.
- 1:28:37Out there. But the Jewish story, the Jewish
- 1:28:39people as a people, if you get down to our bodies, that's what
- 1:28:43we already know is kadosh, we know it's holy.
- 1:28:45Even if you're not religious, if you're not, you know, as a Jew,
- 1:28:47you've been through a story, you know, people have been
- 1:28:49slaughtered. Just the fact that you're alive
- 1:28:50now means that the people went through it.
- 1:28:54So then too, they knew it happened before them as well.
- 1:28:58And when they got to such a point that they realized that
- 1:29:00they're going to get wiped out out of love, they received the
- 1:29:04Torah upon themselves again and embraced the Judaism again and
- 1:29:09wanted the connection again. And I had no idea that we were
- 1:29:13going to talk about poor and and bring.
- 1:29:15This up like this and. I'm kind of freestyling right
- 1:29:17now, but what's coming in my mind right now is you see an
- 1:29:18ertiso you have people walking after October 7th in ertiso in
- 1:29:25the land of Israel with nice long mehadrin sitiot with no
- 1:29:31keep on thousands. A lot of people like this if
- 1:29:37people trying to keep Shabbat putting their phone away.
- 1:29:40There's a arousal. There's a an awakening and when
- 1:29:43did it happen after a bunch of al-maliki Nazis came into our
- 1:29:50lands right and and and try to slaughter us.
- 1:29:54That aroused something inside of us on the body level that no,
- 1:29:57I'm not taking this. There was a Jew in in was killed
- 1:30:00by ISIS, a journalist, I can't remember his name.
- 1:30:03Him too. When they came, when they came
- 1:30:06after his body. They seldom converts before he
- 1:30:08kill. You, he said.
- 1:30:09No, I'm a. Jew, I'm going to die a Jew guy
- 1:30:11never kept his foot in his whole entire life.
- 1:30:14But that Pintelia that that, that Jew that's inside that
- 1:30:17neshama that's inside of you, even on the body of fights.
- 1:30:21So his name was. His name was Daniel Pearl.
- 1:30:24Daniel Pearl. There you go.
- 1:30:27There's a Jew. That most of his life didn't
- 1:30:30really live like a Jew, didn't live a Jewish life when they
- 1:30:35came to die convert. Terrorist guns to AK-40. 7 to
- 1:30:39his head. Convert to Islam, say one
- 1:30:41sentence, he said. I'm a Jew, I'm going to die a
- 1:30:45Jew. The Jews of the poem Time did
- 1:30:48the same thing, and us now. We also have to do this we.
- 1:30:51Don't need to get that far. We don't wish this on anybody.
- 1:30:55We don't need to get that far that we have to have some
- 1:30:57calamity in our lives to happen. If the outcome of them nearly
- 1:31:01dying, realizing, then Hashem is.
- 1:31:03Behind everything and the whole. Time, the whole 9 years of that
- 1:31:06genocide happening in Persia, was all directly being ordained
- 1:31:10to save everybody, and not only that, to make you guys the
- 1:31:13Mordecai, became like yourself, the leader of Hashem's in
- 1:31:19charge. Sometimes we don't see.
- 1:31:20It but. If we can embrace Hashem, we
- 1:31:24can. We can realize that, yeah.
- 1:31:25There is the awe. There is this.
- 1:31:27This world experience. But it's our father, Avinu
- 1:31:30Malcano. He's her father.
- 1:31:33He loves you infinitely. And no matter what you did
- 1:31:35wrong, he still loves you. He can do everything wrong.
- 1:31:38He still loves you. He's a father.
- 1:31:40Fathers are fathers and good fathers, At least Hashem.
- 1:31:43He's the best father, but he's also king.
- 1:31:45He's also Makeno, and like a king, he's in charge and
- 1:31:49watching over everything that's happening.
- 1:31:52Infinite mercy with high expectations.
- 1:31:55And poor him. We got pushed to the point it
- 1:31:57said that a man taking off his ring did more than all of the
- 1:32:02prophets that Amiso had. The Rabbi's have a saying like
- 1:32:05that from Khazzak. You know this?
- 1:32:06No. What does that even mean?
- 1:32:07In the gemara it says essentially a man.
- 1:32:11This Jewish. Hater it's anti semite I wanted
- 1:32:15to kill us all. Him receiving the the the ring
- 1:32:20of power from the king did more to arouse the Jews and all.
- 1:32:26Of the prophets that we had speaking.
- 1:32:27To us from God, the whole entire Tory couldn't do what one anti.
- 1:32:33Semite had the power to do and. In my life, people want to
- 1:32:37scream. I hear this all the time living
- 1:32:38in Israel. But here I see the American
- 1:32:40Jews. Anti-Semitism, anti-Semitism.
- 1:32:41I get it. It's a real problem, but the
- 1:32:44answer has been clear to us for 3000 years.
- 1:32:47Embrace Toran mitzvot. Live as a Jew.
- 1:32:51Do what you got to do. What else?
- 1:32:54What other option do you have? You're going to change how you
- 1:32:57live. You're going to hide it maximum.
- 1:33:00You're going to have to move. You have to run away.
- 1:33:02We've been. Through this, we've been through
- 1:33:03this, right? But to run away from it, to not
- 1:33:06to run away from your Judaism, to try to assimilate.
- 1:33:10They want it's your. It's your body too.
- 1:33:11They're not. It's not your existence.
- 1:33:13Is not. It's everything about you,
- 1:33:16everything about you. So you might as well embrace
- 1:33:18Torah. You might as well embrace a
- 1:33:19relationship with a shem. They need to be fanatic
- 1:33:21religious, grow out crazy hair, wear strings from your body.
- 1:33:24You don't need to do anything, just have to have a relationship
- 1:33:26with a shem. Start to know what it is, that
- 1:33:28soul that's inside of you. Start to feel it, start to
- 1:33:31embrace it, start to try to learn more about it.
- 1:33:33And the more you do it, I promise you, I promise you, I
- 1:33:36promise you you're going to find more tools to your life doesn't
- 1:33:40become daisies, right? Doing Chuvag Abu datashem.
- 1:33:43It's called Abu datashem. It's slave work.
- 1:33:45It's work. It's not easy, but you get
- 1:33:48meaning you get the tools to pick yourself up.
- 1:33:51You have the tools to find hope in the darkness and the
- 1:33:54bitterness you get. You get much more in your
- 1:33:58spiritual and. Mental and emotional.
- 1:34:00And physical toolkit to lift yourself up and to give you the
- 1:34:04fuel, the fuel and the energy you need to stay happy and to
- 1:34:08stay connected and to see the bigger picture and not get
- 1:34:10caught up sometimes in those stresses that we have in life
- 1:34:14that they choke all of us, they strangle all of us.
- 1:34:18There's a secular research that was done people.
- 1:34:21Within MUNA have less. Anxiety, people that believe in
- 1:34:24a power higher than them live a better mental health life and a
- 1:34:28better emotional life. It's not all up to me.
- 1:34:33Some there's a bigger picture that takes some weight off the
- 1:34:37shoulder and in Purim that was abundantly clear to the Jews.
- 1:34:41It could not have just been Esther and Mordecai and whatever
- 1:34:44protests were going down down there against anti-Semitism.
- 1:34:47You're saying it was a nine year process, right Of of chess of
- 1:34:51Hashem? Everything to the dock you
- 1:34:53couldn't tell in year. One or two or three or four,
- 1:34:56right? And not only that, that in.
- 1:34:58The megillah there's. Hints to future events is known
- 1:35:04that there's the Nuremberg trials.
- 1:35:07And Nazis were hung. Can you, Steph, can you help us
- 1:35:11out really quick? Look up Purim Fest 1946.
- 1:35:16What's the guy's name? The Nazis.
- 1:35:19There's 10 Nazis that were hung in the Purim.
- 1:35:23Megillah Haman and his ten sons are hung 1946 There's Nazis that
- 1:35:30were put on trial for their involvement in crimes.
- 1:35:32Julius Streicher in Maximo, his name be erased sounds.
- 1:35:37Like a Jewish name. Julius Streicher, German.
- 1:35:41OK, OK. He was a.
- 1:35:43He was a. Nazi.
- 1:35:45And all of his friends and. Ten of them were hung just like
- 1:35:48it's. Written in the Megila, right?
- 1:35:50Who's the one? Who's Amman?
- 1:35:51Yeah, we know. We don't need to say his name
- 1:35:53either, right? And ten of his sons, ten of his
- 1:35:57main generals. And as this guy is going to get
- 1:36:01hung. Same form of.
- 1:36:03Execution as the Megillah thousands of years ago he
- 1:36:08screams out Purim fest 1946 the non Jewish German Nazi screams
- 1:36:16out Purim fest. So in this in the Megillah.
- 1:36:21Esther gets asked by the king. What's your desire?
- 1:36:25And we have a rule when we read the megillah, sometimes it says
- 1:36:29the king and sometimes it sings the king Akashvarosh.
- 1:36:33And whenever it says just the king, it's talking about God.
- 1:36:36So God asks Esther, do you have any more requests?
- 1:36:41Anything she says, can this also happen tomorrow?
- 1:36:45Meaning can it happen again in our in the timeline?
- 1:36:48Of of the world. And it did. 1946 again it
- 1:36:50happened, it happened that 10 people of that nation, which by
- 1:36:56the way, Iran, it's Aryan, the country's called paras, what's
- 1:37:01Iran Aryan. It's also connection now.
- 1:37:05So now to poems coming up. We have an Aryan nation coming
- 1:37:10against us. I feel is up to Hashem.
- 1:37:15And Hashem will. Rabbit Revenu, Danny Dineeno and
- 1:37:21Go against go against all of the evil in the world to take.
- 1:37:23Out. Then we have to know.
- 1:37:24That anything that we see physically happening, it's
- 1:37:26already happened up in the root. So most likely, most likely, God
- 1:37:29willing, like like the parasha aligns with things that happen
- 1:37:32in the current events of the week.
- 1:37:35We're going into a time right now where the mazel of Israel is
- 1:37:37go there. The the power of Amisa is
- 1:37:41amplified in the world. And our enemies go down.
- 1:37:45And it's the time where specifically our Persian Iranian
- 1:37:48enemies historically should go down as well.
- 1:37:51Is that the same? I'm in this was amazing.
- 1:37:55I mean, I think I think I. Used the word amazing for this
- 1:37:57podcast when I started and I meant it and I knew it would be
- 1:38:00and I'm happy I said it and it really was.
- 1:38:03The most fascinating part about this whole conversation is I
- 1:38:05think it's over a little over an hour.
- 1:38:07I don't know. Regardless of how long it was,
- 1:38:10we started off because we were talking for two minutes before
- 1:38:13it started and you're like, I have a story.
- 1:38:15I don't think you even said the story.
- 1:38:16We're like, oh wait, you have to talk about it very quickly.
- 1:38:19Sorry. We were talking about brachas.
- 1:38:21We're talking about blessings. The.
- 1:38:22Stories like this, there's a guy in Israel that went to the east
- 1:38:26like many Israelis do, and he went backpacking through India
- 1:38:29and he went with a friend from an ashram that he was learning
- 1:38:32in. They went in on a hike and on a
- 1:38:34hike he picked the fruit and he made a blessing.
- 1:38:37Bless your God, king of the universe, creator of the fruit,
- 1:38:41of the fruit of the tree. And OK, he's a backpacking
- 1:38:47Israeli that's checking out some ashram there.
- 1:38:49But the guy he's with is a monk and he sees the whole aura of
- 1:38:53the fruit change. He says, what did you do?
- 1:38:56What did you do? Our people, you know, we, we
- 1:39:01make blessings before we eat and before we enjoy from this world.
- 1:39:05He's what does it mean? The whole energy of the fruit
- 1:39:08changed everything. And this non Jewish monk, Indian
- 1:39:11monk is making this whole big deal about the bracha and how
- 1:39:14the energy of the fruit changed and he could see it.
- 1:39:18First of all, going to show you this is not just our made-up
- 1:39:20stuff, spirituality. Is a real reality.
- 1:39:22And even if a person is living in a what we believe is tuma and
- 1:39:26against the ways of the Torah and idol worship and everything,
- 1:39:29it doesn't matter. They're still spiritual and
- 1:39:30they're still tapping into very high levels of spirituality,
- 1:39:33right. You know, was to exactly right.
- 1:39:37And he had the. Ability to see that the Jew with
- 1:39:39his mouth. Changed the fruit that sent that
- 1:39:43Jew off and he went he left India, he went to yeshiva and he
- 1:39:47and he became he's I think he's a mushbi.
- 1:39:49I can't remember his name, but that that was the story that it
- 1:39:52blessing with intention. It happens to be, by the way, so
- 1:39:55I'll just give you a little. You know taste of this.
- 1:39:59You the the power of Brahas. You know when when my son was
- 1:40:02sick, my son had a liver transplant, but he was a baby.
- 1:40:06And like a week before the surgery, somebody arranged for
- 1:40:12an entire school. Of boys bracha party, a bracha
- 1:40:16party. They all at one shot.
- 1:40:19At 1:00 at one one time. They all had a drink, they all
- 1:40:24managed to hack all together and they all set a man together.
- 1:40:28And like I said, the power of that.
- 1:40:30Can shake the world. Wow.
- 1:40:31Well, Steph, thanks for sharing. By the way, last Baal Shem Tov's
- 1:40:35three last. One you sure I don't want it to
- 1:40:38stop? Doesn't.
- 1:40:38Have the last one, last one on camera I guess.
- 1:40:41Yeah, there was a. Baal shem Tov.
- 1:40:43We're hanging. Out all night, by the way.
- 1:40:44You know that, right? We're going straight to the hot
- 1:40:46tub from here. We go to Nets in the.
- 1:40:48Morning too. OK, perfect.
- 1:40:49We'll pull an old nighter. Baal Shem Tov.
- 1:40:51Sent one of his students to a. Very far away town.
- 1:40:55And he got lost and off the path and he went without water for a
- 1:41:00long time and he finally found a stream of water.
- 1:41:05And put his. Hands down the cup and made a
- 1:41:08full hearty shackle and drank it and went back to the Baal Shem
- 1:41:13Tov because he didn't find what he was sent to find.
- 1:41:17And he gets back, back to the Baal Shem Tov and he said.
- 1:41:20What was that? You sent me to like, nowhere.
- 1:41:24There's nothing there. What?
- 1:41:26What did you need? What was?
- 1:41:27What was going on? He said, tell me about your
- 1:41:29journey. And he tells him how everything
- 1:41:31broke down and he couldn't. And he went on this Maya in this
- 1:41:34spring and he made a shot call. He says, you know what happened
- 1:41:36in the heavens, that wellspring from the creation of the world
- 1:41:41had no purpose, and it made a claim in the heavens and there
- 1:41:46was a. Decree that a whole entire
- 1:41:47village of Jews was. Going to get wiped out because
- 1:41:50of the key to the claim in the heavens that that that that
- 1:41:56wellspring gave out and you came and made one shackle and saved
- 1:42:00all of them. We have a lot of a lot of power
- 1:42:05in our mouth. Wow.
- 1:42:06And in our mind and we. And our heart, and if we can
- 1:42:09apply all three of them together, Kerov elekha adava
- 1:42:13mamaj befika ulivaja la Soto. The thing is very close to you
- 1:42:17in your mouth, in your heart. To do it, unify your actions
- 1:42:23with your heart in your mouth. The word of God is.
- 1:42:30Going to be very close to you. Wow.
- 1:42:33Is that this one? I love it.
- 1:42:34I mean. Last two things before I let you
- 1:42:37go is. First of all, do you have any?
- 1:42:38Questions for me and then I'm going to ask you if you have any
- 1:42:40guests that you would recommend. You know, normally I would say
- 1:42:43if you start a podcast, who would be your first guest?
- 1:42:44But you had a podcast, so that should be an easy one.
- 1:42:46But before we wrap up, any questions for me?
- 1:42:51Yes. As a Jew living here.
- 1:42:56And what I know of you in our short time that we had in this
- 1:42:59past 24 hours. How do you market what I've seen
- 1:43:03in your house in your the love and the, and the camaraderie
- 1:43:07that you guys have together. How do you market that more than
- 1:43:10more Jews should be inspired to have that as well in their
- 1:43:12house. Friends that come together to
- 1:43:13bring in Shabbat together, that sing together, that eat
- 1:43:16together, that take out Shabbat together, sing together, eat
- 1:43:19together. How do how do we market that?
- 1:43:22You're a marketer. How do we and don't say it's
- 1:43:25none of your business. That's for Shalom.
- 1:43:27I'm happy we didn't even use it. It's a great question.
- 1:43:30I think that the simplest answer I can give is to everyone has
- 1:43:37the ability to give to Dhaka charity, even if it's not money.
- 1:43:43And it's a concept I always talk about behind closed doors.
- 1:43:47Give your time. You know, we had someone on the
- 1:43:51podcast that said that, you know, they don't take a lot of
- 1:43:54guests on Shabbos. That's because that person is
- 1:43:56during the week, busy with the guests of the world.
- 1:43:59But a typical person can open their home, do it once a month.
- 1:44:04You know, think upon yourself to go to shabbat.com or go to your
- 1:44:08local rabbi and say, hey, I want to open my home to have a meal
- 1:44:11with somebody from the outside to come in.
- 1:44:13It'll change your Shabbos and it'll change your life.
- 1:44:16And the reason is because you're then forced to listen to someone
- 1:44:20else's stories and sing the songs and ask them.
- 1:44:23Just literally start the Shabbos table with your guests and say,
- 1:44:27what song did you grow up with listening to Shalm Aleichem
- 1:44:30Shabbos? You ask that question and it
- 1:44:32just invokes curiosity and then it creates conversation.
- 1:44:37Before you know it, you're singing Shalm Aleichem with a
- 1:44:39stranger that you'd never met before.
- 1:44:41So that's what I would say is open your home if we could
- 1:44:43market it to the world and say, guys, you know, I I instead of
- 1:44:46shabbat.com, or I think is it shabbat.com?
- 1:44:49Right. But see on classical shout out
- 1:44:51to you. We got to have we got to have
- 1:44:52him on Steph, add him to our list, please.
- 1:44:56He's a guy that we're going to go really deep with and talk
- 1:44:58about art and many other things. So, so the point is that just,
- 1:45:03you know, what Rabbi Waxman taught me a long time ago is,
- 1:45:07you know, you want to do something, just cut that in half
- 1:45:09and take that and cut that in half and do that.
- 1:45:11So don't start being nice to the world every day of your life.
- 1:45:14Like calm down, you know, don't even do it, you know, every
- 1:45:17other day. Do it once a month.
- 1:45:19Just, you know, Rashkhodesh let's, you know, the bracha, the
- 1:45:22blessing I'll give to everybody listening to this is it's gonna
- 1:45:25be the week of Rashkhodesh Adar. And it's gonna it's gonna lead
- 1:45:29us to Purim and take upon yourself something once a month
- 1:45:34and open your home to a guest, open your home to a single
- 1:45:38divorced father, divorced mother, open your home to a
- 1:45:41neighbor who doesn't have any children living alone.
- 1:45:44Open up your home and automatically the simple will
- 1:45:47start. And that's how I think it'll
- 1:45:49cap. And if you can't do that, I'll
- 1:45:51just add then call someone. And be there for them.
- 1:45:56Yeah, if you can't bring them to your house, right.
- 1:45:57Just adding the exact same lines that you're saying.
- 1:46:00I heard, I heard a great story and I'm going to share it real
- 1:46:02quick. And many people heard it
- 1:46:03already, but it doesn't. Matter.
- 1:46:04It's still a great story to tell you in case you haven't, is that
- 1:46:07someone basically came back to keeping Shabbat and so on.
- 1:46:10And he said, what made you do it?
- 1:46:11And he said, it's the rabbi that called me every Arab Shabbos.
- 1:46:15And, and one day someone met that rabbi and said, wow, you
- 1:46:17know, did you know this? And he was, that's interesting
- 1:46:19'cause he never picked up the phone.
- 1:46:22And that story just like, you know, really hit home with me.
- 1:46:25It's just, and especially with what you're saying now, just
- 1:46:27pick up the phone, call someone and again, do it once a month.
- 1:46:30You're right. If you can have a guest in your
- 1:46:32house and your spouse won't allow it or whatever, just call
- 1:46:35someone. Right connection, which is
- 1:46:37really great. Elio, who would be your, your
- 1:46:41suggestion for the none of your Business podcast as a guest
- 1:46:43here? I know you're living in spot.
- 1:46:45Joey Rosenfeld, 100%. Oh, Joey, I've she, I've she
- 1:46:48also. I can help with all of these.
- 1:46:52OK, so those are those are those are the top 2, right?
- 1:46:56Yakov Klein. If he ever comes, yeah, let's do
- 1:47:02it, Joey. I'm doing.
- 1:47:03I'm going with Joey right there. That's.
- 1:47:06I'm going to say something right now.
- 1:47:07If he'll do it, I don't know. I just met him this Shabbat, but
- 1:47:09I think it would be a. Conversation of Tversky of
- 1:47:14Torres I have here in Pomona the rough.
- 1:47:16I just met him this Shabbat. I think that would be, you know,
- 1:47:19it's a great. Idea by the.
- 1:47:20Way I think that would be very powerful.
- 1:47:22I met him once and his his Simcha.
- 1:47:23His happiness was just. Contagious.
- 1:47:25I'm blown away. How he acted in Shabbat and the
- 1:47:28way he has his. Community, What did he do?
- 1:47:31Tell me. Tell me one thing that that
- 1:47:32stood out. He walked and gave every child
- 1:47:37the candy. And he gives hugs.
- 1:47:39He hugged me in a way that I haven't been hugged in a long
- 1:47:41time from, especially not from Arabic.
- 1:47:44And he's, he's genuine, he's down to earth and authentic.
- 1:47:49And it's amazing to see a Jew that that believes in.
- 1:47:58The simple inherent holiness. Of every single Jew, that's what
- 1:48:01I saw and that's his behaviour. When he opened his mouth and
- 1:48:06turned, spoke to her, I was blown away.
- 1:48:09And that doesn't usually happen to be coming from SWAT and well,
- 1:48:13Hashem came out the heart. I don't know.
- 1:48:16And if it happens, I'm, I'm definitely going to watch that
- 1:48:18one. I'm definitely going to make
- 1:48:21sure every one of them at least get a call from us.
- 1:48:24I also say if you could. Have if you could have a person
- 1:48:26that's about. Shuva or a convert those stories
- 1:48:34they they help a person a lot on their.
- 1:48:36On their journey, learning from the greats is.
- 1:48:38Is also important, but also learning from the people that
- 1:48:40fought to to come into a connection with the show is I
- 1:48:44love it. That's a great idea if any one
- 1:48:46of our listeners know any suggestions from that world.
- 1:48:48Let us know. Thank you again to all our
- 1:48:50subscribers or our listeners, all the feedback.
- 1:48:52Thank you to the Prime Source production team doing amazing
- 1:48:55things, growing together. I love where this conversation
- 1:48:58is starting to go. I love this, you know, the
- 1:49:00selection of who you are having and I'm thinking already ahead
- 1:49:04of sitting in front of, of Avshi and of Joey and, and, and
- 1:49:07Ravtorsky and you know, don't worry, listeners, we're going to
- 1:49:12sprinkle in a lot of others as well in terms of covering all
- 1:49:16facets of life. But really getting deep and
- 1:49:18talking about the pain and how to get past it.
- 1:49:20And what you said today was overwhelming for me to listen to
- 1:49:25and to accept. I am going to listen to this
- 1:49:27podcast. And that's something to to say
- 1:49:29because Stefan does the listening like 10 times over and
- 1:49:34I'm excited for it. If a person is interested in
- 1:49:36these in these topics, so. I would say two things.
- 1:49:40Joey Rosenfeld, if you go to Rabbi Joey Rosenfeld, if you go
- 1:49:43to his YouTube, there's a playlist section on the channel
- 1:49:47and he has different playlists, Anxiety, hope, joy, addiction,
- 1:49:53recovery, those topics. You listen to him.
- 1:49:58Extremely powerful and humbly. Speaking on my channel.
- 1:50:02I also have a couple 100 shery on and of the same of the same
- 1:50:07energy. Approaching these topics from
- 1:50:10the from the Torah is not like any.
- 1:50:12Self help book. Or any speaker out there, it's
- 1:50:17when you, when you, when you see that the Hasidic masters, and
- 1:50:21not just the Hasidic masters, Torah teachers for the past
- 1:50:24thousands of years have had these tools and, and guidance.
- 1:50:26And sometimes it's just which book and how to read it.
- 1:50:31And to get over that, a lot of us come with a lot of trauma
- 1:50:34from how we were forced Torah or how we were taught Torah.
- 1:50:38Our tour is beautiful. Our tour is, is amazing and
- 1:50:41filled with every tool you need. It's just give it a give it the
- 1:50:44right fair chance with the open heart.
- 1:50:46You need some help, make a good look, aim and get into it
- 1:50:50because we all need it. We all need it.
- 1:50:52I love it. I appreciate it.
- 1:50:54Thank you for that. And.
- 1:50:56That's a wrap.
