- 0:09Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on? Everybody?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome into this edition of the Czech Odaily. It's Andrew
- 0:14Speaker 2: de Checko and doing this podcast early in the morning,
- 0:19Speaker 2: so I'm waking up a little bit. But it doesn't
- 0:21Speaker 2: necessarily have me feeling any differently than I did yesterday
- 0:25Speaker 2: when the Eagles lost to the New York Giants thirty
- 0:28Speaker 2: four to seventeen. There's a lot to take away and
- 0:33Speaker 2: probably the eagles worst loss since the Arizona Cardinals in
- 0:36Speaker 2: twenty twenty three, and they went into this game as
- 0:40Speaker 2: over seven point favorites. I don't know the exact number,
- 0:44Speaker 2: but the New York this seemed to be the get
- 0:49Speaker 2: right spot for this football team, coming off that loss
- 0:52Speaker 2: against the Denver Broncos four days ago, and you wanted
- 0:57Speaker 2: to see the offense come together. And when they were
- 1:00Speaker 2: talks this week about a conversation that took place with
- 1:03Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts, with Saquon Barkley being there and aj Brown
- 1:07Speaker 2: as well, that's where you start to get the sense, Okay,
- 1:11Speaker 2: is this going to be the turning point where this
- 1:13Speaker 2: is the get right spot and the offense takes shape
- 1:17Speaker 2: and becomes what we're all expecting it to see. This
- 1:21Speaker 2: was a great spot for the Eagles to open things
- 1:23Speaker 2: up in the passing game, as the New York Giants
- 1:26Speaker 2: don't really have a lot of defensive backs that are
- 1:31Speaker 2: able to stop what they're looking to do and to
- 1:34Speaker 2: be able to bottle up the kind of talent that
- 1:36Speaker 2: the Eagles have on the offensive side. But as it were,
- 1:41Speaker 2: the Giants went into this game. They were not afraid,
- 1:44Speaker 2: They didn't waiver, and it almost seemed like they had
- 1:47Speaker 2: the chip on their shoulder coming into it.
- 1:49Speaker 1: They played more physically than the Eagles.
- 1:51Speaker 2: They played with more toughness, and you don't often say
- 1:55Speaker 2: that about a Nick Sirianni coach team, but they also
- 1:58Speaker 2: play with more detail as well. When you come into
- 2:02Speaker 2: it and you're the Giants and you don't have a
- 2:05Speaker 2: lot of a lot of people out there that are
- 2:08Speaker 2: believing that you're gonna win this game, you're not really
- 2:11Speaker 2: giving much of a chance.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Jackson Dart rookie quarterback.
- 2:14Speaker 2: The wide receivers were Wandell Robinson, Jalen Hyatt, Bo Collins.
- 2:19Speaker 2: They had Theo Johnson the tight end from Penn State.
- 2:23Speaker 2: The offensive lion wasn't particularly good except for Andrew Thomas.
- 2:28Speaker 2: So on paper, the Eagles should have been able to
- 2:31Speaker 2: put up forty points, get the backups into the game
- 2:35Speaker 2: and move on. Now, if you ask any player, these guys,
- 2:39Speaker 2: every team gets paid.
- 2:40Speaker 1: To make plays too, So you can't.
- 2:42Speaker 2: No one's gonna roll over just because the Eagles are
- 2:45Speaker 2: coming into town, or just because the Eagles are on
- 2:48Speaker 2: the schedule.
- 2:48Speaker 1: You're gonna get every team's best.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And that's something that we talked about throughout the summer,
- 2:53Speaker 2: and I really do believe that every team has this game.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Circled and they wanted to go out there.
- 2:58Speaker 2: But offense, they start the game off with runs of
- 3:02Speaker 2: eighteen and thirteen yards for Saquon Barkley. Saquon looks good.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Then they have to do they have to on a
- 3:10Speaker 2: third and ten. I don't remember exactly where they were,
- 3:13Speaker 2: they were, maybe out at the twenty. They have to
- 3:17Speaker 2: settle for a field goal because they throw a five
- 3:20Speaker 2: yard pass short of the sticks to Dallas.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Goddard didn't like the aggressiveness there.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I thought they could have maybe built off of that
- 3:27Speaker 2: and kept going because they had that Giants defense reeling.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Then the Giants on the next drive, Jackson Dart his escapability,
- 3:35Speaker 2: the wizard like movements maneuvering the pocket. He eluded Disasojilari
- 3:40Speaker 2: on one occasion, who started this game, by the way
- 3:42Speaker 2: for the Eagles, and he was able to get the
- 3:46Speaker 2: ball to his wide receivers. Little Jordan Humphrey had a
- 3:50Speaker 2: thirty four yard or on a third and it was
- 3:53Speaker 2: a third down, third and twelve from the Giants forty
- 3:57Speaker 2: four and he gets he lost his Little Jordan Humphrey
- 4:01Speaker 2: Moss's Keeley ringo Wandell Robinson on his thirty five yard touchdown.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Drew mccouba had a lapse on the play and was
- 4:10Speaker 2: unable to get over and wrap him up. So there
- 4:13Speaker 2: were just a lot of shortcomings, a lot of things
- 4:17Speaker 2: that you didn't necessarily see for an extended period of
- 4:20Speaker 2: time throughout the season, but you saw it surface against
- 4:23Speaker 2: the Giants on Thursday Night Football. But Cam Scattibo ninety
- 4:27Speaker 2: eight rushing yards a career high, and he rushed for
- 4:33Speaker 2: three touchdowns. Physical, tough runner, him and Jackson Dart were
- 4:37Speaker 2: the engine that fueled that Giants offense. They took what
- 4:40Speaker 2: the Eagles defense was allowing with Little Jordan Humphrey, with
- 4:44Speaker 2: Wandell Robinson in the passing game and Cam Scattabu kept
- 4:49Speaker 2: the offense on schedule with some positive runs on early downs,
- 4:52Speaker 2: and the Giants, really the Eagles, I should say, played
- 4:55Speaker 2: into the Giant's hand because they were able to to
- 5:00Speaker 2: eat the clock and keep the Eagles offense off the
- 5:04Speaker 2: field as much as they could. Now, I want to
- 5:07Speaker 2: fast forward to later in the game, and again, my
- 5:09Speaker 2: thoughts are all over the place now because this game
- 5:12Speaker 2: just happened and there's a lot to unpack. But in
- 5:17Speaker 2: the fourth quarter, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense are
- 5:21Speaker 2: moving down the field and they're fifteen yards away. It's
- 5:25Speaker 2: a second down. It's an out route to the left sideline.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Johan Dotson is the intended target. Jalen Hurst loves to
- 5:33Speaker 2: throw that route through that the only place you can't
- 5:36Speaker 2: throw it is inside. He threw it inside and Giants
- 5:39Speaker 2: cornerback Cordell flat interception returns it sixty eight yards the
- 5:43Speaker 2: other way and they Saquon Barkley tackles them. The Eagles
- 5:49Speaker 2: were down ten at that time, but they could have
- 5:51Speaker 2: cut that deficit down to three instead. Four plays later,
- 5:55Speaker 2: the Giants score and it's Cam Scatibo who is punching
- 5:59Speaker 2: it in. I don't like to pick on the defense
- 6:03Speaker 2: necessarily because I believe it they've been putting some really
- 6:06Speaker 2: challenging spots this season with the offense not being able
- 6:10Speaker 2: to hold up their end. But the tackling was not good.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Drew mccouba struggled and tackling in this game. I would
- 6:17Speaker 2: also say that Keeley Ringo struggled and tackling. They weren't
- 6:21Speaker 2: good enough defending the run. Jordan Davis had a nice game,
- 6:25Speaker 2: but Ty Robinson was sort of washed out on plays.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Moro Jomo washed out on plays, And I go back
- 6:33Speaker 2: every time and watch the game over again. So nothing
- 6:36Speaker 2: I'm saying is definitive, but based off of the initial
- 6:39Speaker 2: watch from the press box, that's how it looked to me.
- 6:43Speaker 2: There was even a time where camp Scottybow got downhill
- 6:46Speaker 2: and put a nice lick on Zach Bonn and jolted
- 6:49Speaker 2: him a little bit backwards. So I just thought the
- 6:53Speaker 2: Giants did a nice job of taking it to the street,
- 6:55Speaker 2: so to speak, and playing that physical style that the
- 6:59Speaker 2: Eagles pride themselves on. But for Kiey Ringo, for example,
- 7:04Speaker 2: there are a couple moments in this game. He got
- 7:06Speaker 2: penalized twice and there were moments in this game where
- 7:09Speaker 2: he seemed to let some of those negative plays pile up,
- 7:12Speaker 2: and he wasn't playing like the confident player that I
- 7:15Speaker 2: saw at moments against the Buccaneers and the Broncos.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So you have to wonder.
- 7:22Speaker 2: If they look to make a change there for the
- 7:24Speaker 2: Vikings game, because I thought when a Dory Jackson came
- 7:26Speaker 2: in and Quinnon Mitchell, we should mention left the game
- 7:29Speaker 2: with the hamstring injury and did not return. But Dory
- 7:31Speaker 2: Jackson goes in and he's able to play, hold it
- 7:36Speaker 2: down and play relatively better than the production.
- 7:41Speaker 1: They were getting out of kille Ringo.
- 7:43Speaker 2: But there was even a moment later in the game
- 7:46Speaker 2: where Reid Blanket Ship and Cooper Dejen collided. Reid has
- 7:51Speaker 2: to leave the field, and it's not Sidney Brown, it's
- 7:53Speaker 2: Marcus Epsuh comes on the field at safety. So they
- 7:56Speaker 2: had a lot of they were patching things together, and
- 7:59Speaker 2: I think you you see that Quinnon Mitchell is you
- 8:03Speaker 2: can make a case one of maybe three or four
- 8:06Speaker 2: players that the Eagles can least afford to lose because
- 8:10Speaker 2: take him out of the mix and the Eagles are
- 8:12Speaker 2: awfully light at corner and you now have a lot
- 8:15Speaker 2: of depth players, a lot of role players who are
- 8:17Speaker 2: being thrust into prominent roles that they're not ideally suited.
- 8:22Speaker 1: The pass rush on defense has to be better.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Patrick Johnson picked up a sack of Jackson dart as
- 8:31Speaker 2: Izo Jalari started the games that Darius Smith played.
- 8:34Speaker 1: All of them played.
- 8:37Speaker 2: But they're just not able to get home and that
- 8:39Speaker 2: makes life when your secondary is ruining, that makes life
- 8:42Speaker 2: since so difficult, and they're not able.
- 8:45Speaker 1: To build off of that.
- 8:48Speaker 2: The Jonathan Gannet used to always talk about the rush
- 8:52Speaker 2: cover rush, it's a marriage, and right now the Eagles
- 8:56Speaker 2: don't have the pressure from the edge rushers to be
- 8:59Speaker 2: able to help a secondary that wasn't playing their best.
- 9:04Speaker 2: But I've just thought that the Giants won in the trenches.
- 9:08Speaker 2: They bullied the Eagles at the line of scrimmage on
- 9:10Speaker 2: both sides of the ball, which you don't see, and
- 9:12Speaker 2: that happens in the NFL. I'm not gonna make this
- 9:15Speaker 2: scene like that's a trend. It's not something you see
- 9:17Speaker 2: very often, but I saw it in this game.

- 12:46Speaker 3: Camedn Apothecary top quality cannabis, great prices, and an experience
- 12:51Speaker 3: made for Philly fans. Twenty one and.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Up offensively, there was poor execution and some point I
- 13:00Speaker 2: talked about the interception. There is also another play where
- 13:03Speaker 2: the Eagles were down three and Jayalen Hurts, I believe
- 13:06Speaker 2: they're at the Eagle zone eleven. He launches a pass
- 13:09Speaker 2: to Devonte Smith and it's out of Devonte Smith's reach. Now,
- 13:13Speaker 2: this is twice in two weeks that Jyalen Hurts has
- 13:16Speaker 2: been unable to connect with one of his wide receivers
- 13:19Speaker 2: JJ Brown against the Broncos, DeVante Smith against the Giants
- 13:23Speaker 2: in prime time.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And you connect on that.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Play, all of a sudden, you take the lead, and
- 13:29Speaker 2: you change the momentum in that game. So I thought
- 13:34Speaker 2: late in that game there were moments that Jalen Hurts
- 13:35Speaker 2: would probably like to have back. Also the moment before
- 13:37Speaker 2: halftime where there was poor clock management and he didn't
- 13:42Speaker 2: seem to be aware of how much time they actually
- 13:45Speaker 2: had left. And that's a collective, but it all starts
- 13:48Speaker 2: with the quarterback, with the leader. They were just disjointed.
- 13:51Speaker 2: And once the Giants struck first, and they proved that
- 13:55Speaker 2: the Eagles struck first the field goal, but then once
- 13:57Speaker 2: the Giants were able to punch it in and prove
- 14:00Speaker 2: that they weren't going to be intimidated or they weren't
- 14:02Speaker 2: going to kind of just bow down and let the Eagles.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Do whatever they wanted.
- 14:05Speaker 2: It seemed to me that the Eagles were not equipped
- 14:08Speaker 2: to match that kind of intensity for that particular game,
- 14:12Speaker 2: and the result is a thirty four to seventeen loss
- 14:16Speaker 2: and unprecedented loss. But any team can get beat on
- 14:20Speaker 2: any given day in the NFL. They are professionals. That's
- 14:24Speaker 2: what happens. But one of the things that I think
- 14:27Speaker 2: is worth really keying in on is the running game
- 14:30Speaker 2: still has yet to take shape. Sakwon Barkley talked about that.
- 14:35Speaker 2: He said he's tired of saying after the game, he
- 14:37Speaker 2: said this tired of saying how close they are and
- 14:39Speaker 2: that they have to start getting things done.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And they weren't effective again in the ground game.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Maybe this extended bye week helps get some players healthier.
- 14:50Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 14:51Speaker 2: But that is foundationally what the Eagles want to be,
- 14:53Speaker 2: and until they're able to do that, it's going to
- 14:55Speaker 2: be hard to see what this offense can can fully
- 14:59Speaker 2: be when you have one significant facet of their of
- 15:03Speaker 2: their of their core, of their unit, of what they
- 15:07Speaker 2: want to do, so not a lot of great to
- 15:10Speaker 2: take away from that. Dallas Goddard had over one hundred
- 15:13Speaker 2: yards in over one hundred yards and a touchdown. Good
- 15:16Speaker 2: stuff from him. He's been pretty consistent all season long.
- 15:20Speaker 2: But yeah, those are just my immediate thoughts. The penalties
- 15:25Speaker 2: are still surfacing, but those are my immediate thoughts from
- 15:29Speaker 2: the Eagles loss. They they drop to four and two
- 15:32Speaker 2: in the season and they will pick things back up
- 15:35Speaker 2: Monday when they approach the Minnesota Vikings week. This has
- 15:38Speaker 2: been to Czecho daily. I'm Andrew to Checho, and I'll
- 15:41Speaker 2: talk to everybody next week.
