- 0:08Speaker 1: Play Angel fans and welcome back to Halo Territory. We
- 0:11Speaker 1: are part of the Foul Territory Network. I'm Mike D. Giovanna,
- 0:15Speaker 1: former La Times baseball writer and host of the show,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and we're joined today by Breezy noan longtime Angels fan
- 0:23Speaker 1: and season ticket holder, making her second Halo Territory appearance
- 0:27Speaker 1: this season. Breezy, welcome back to the show. How are
- 0:29Speaker 1: you doing today?
- 0:31Speaker 2: I'm doing wonderful. Thank you so much for having me back.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Great to have you back. We'll get a lot to
- 0:36Speaker 1: discuss today, including Logan O'hoppies, Tuesday Night heroics, Joan Moncatta's
- 0:42Speaker 1: falling stock, and some new Angel Stadium food options ahead
- 0:47Speaker 1: of Friday night's home opener. First, you're going to explore
- 0:50Speaker 1: one of the more encouraging storylines of this young season,
- 0:53Speaker 1: pitcher Jose Soriana, who threw six shutout innings in the
- 0:58Speaker 1: season opening win over the Hoon win over Houston Astros,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and another six shutout innings in Tuesday nights. One of
- 1:05Speaker 1: the Chicago Cubs now for the last seven years. Andy McCullough,
- 1:09Speaker 1: the fine ball writer at the Athletic and a former
- 1:12Speaker 1: Ela Times colleague of mine has put together what he
- 1:15Speaker 1: calls the Aces Project, where he surveys a panel of
- 1:18Speaker 1: twenty scouting, player development, and analytics experts to determine who
- 1:24Speaker 1: Baseball's aces are. There were fifty pitchers on that list
- 1:30Speaker 1: heading into this season. Derek Schouble and Paul Skeens were
- 1:34Speaker 1: at the top of that list, but there are no
- 1:36Speaker 1: Angels on that list. I can't say any Angel deserved
- 1:40Speaker 1: to be on that list going into the season, But
- 1:42Speaker 1: Breezy is Soriano making a push to be included on
- 1:45Speaker 1: this list next season?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Okay, So I would say that it's a little too
- 1:52Speaker 2: soon to know because I don't know if you remember
- 1:57Speaker 2: last season, he was absolutely incredible on the road eight wins,
- 2:03Speaker 2: three losses, and then at home he would just blow
- 2:08Speaker 2: up for whatever reason. I think he was two wins,
- 2:11Speaker 2: eight losses. So I personally am really looking forward to
- 2:16Speaker 2: seeing how he does at Angel Stadium before you know,
- 2:22Speaker 2: we get to ahead of ourselves.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yeah, right now. The definition of an ace, I think
- 2:29Speaker 1: is subjective. It's sort of in the eyes of the beholder.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But for me, it starts with stuff. And you look
- 2:36Speaker 1: at Jose He's got five pitches, four that he uses
- 2:40Speaker 1: mainly he's got a sinker that's averaging about ninety seven
- 2:44Speaker 1: ninety eight miles an hour, mixes up with an occasional
- 2:48Speaker 1: four seamer and a pretty nasty knuckle curve that comes
- 2:51Speaker 1: in at about eighty six miles an hour. And of
- 2:54Speaker 1: course he's got that split finger. Now, that sinker I
- 2:58Speaker 1: think is as probably as best pitch and used that
- 3:02Speaker 1: to induce eighteen ground ball outs already in his first
- 3:06Speaker 1: two starts. And that nule, Yeah, that knuckle curve. For
- 3:11Speaker 1: fans watching the game Tuesday night, there was a great
- 3:14Speaker 1: sequence in the fourth inning where he ran a splitter
- 3:17Speaker 1: onto Nico Horner's hands for a strikeout. Then he got
- 3:21Speaker 1: Danzby Swanson to swing at a curveball that I think
- 3:23Speaker 1: wound up in the left handed hitters batter's box. Yeah,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and then he struck Yeah. Then he struck out Swanson
- 3:29Speaker 1: looking at a ninety nine mile an hour fastball on
- 3:32Speaker 1: the outside corner. Also, for me, an ace is a
- 3:36Speaker 1: perennial all star, a guy who delivers consistent quality starts
- 3:40Speaker 1: and pitches deep into games, who can match up with
- 3:42Speaker 1: opposing aces number ones, number two's thrives under pressure, who
- 3:48Speaker 1: is mentally tough. I think, sorry, showed some of that
- 3:52Speaker 1: toughness in Chicago two's and when he wasn't wearing any
- 3:55Speaker 1: sleeves in like forty forty degree weather. But he's kind
- 3:58Speaker 1: of I think he's got a little ways to go
- 4:00Speaker 1: in some of these areas, and he you know, of course,
- 4:03Speaker 1: has to do this in a complete season. You know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: we're looking at his stats here if you're watching us
- 4:08Speaker 1: on YouTube, a four point two six era last year.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Not great. Off to a great start this year, but
- 4:16Speaker 1: you know, when you know, all star appearances, maybe that
- 4:19Speaker 1: changes this year. What is the longevity, you know, consistency
- 4:25Speaker 1: aspect part of what's going to sort of get him
- 4:27Speaker 1: to the next level.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Oh absolutely, Like I said, like, I think.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Him being able to do that at home is really
- 4:38Speaker 2: what's going to make or break him, I think, And
- 4:40Speaker 2: it's the consistency piece. Of course, staying healthy has been
- 4:43Speaker 2: an issue. But I will say watching the game, especially
- 4:49Speaker 2: last night, he seems a lot more calm, which I
- 4:53Speaker 2: think maybe it seems like the whole team in general
- 4:57Speaker 2: has been focusing a little bit more on their mind set.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Minus Mancatta.
- 5:04Speaker 2: But but yeah, like it does seem like he just
- 5:08Speaker 2: seems much more composed and yeah at forty degree weather
- 5:14Speaker 2: and just like not having anything underneath, like just rock
- 5:18Speaker 2: in the jersey, like he had to be so locked
- 5:21Speaker 2: in mentally, which I think is a really good indicator
- 5:25Speaker 2: of what's to come, hopefully and to to get the
- 5:29Speaker 2: opening day start and have that confidence I think is
- 5:36Speaker 2: really really important, especially to somebody like him. That's you know,
- 5:39Speaker 2: I saw on Twitter. I think yesterday, you know, everyone's
- 5:43Speaker 2: like cy young maybe you know, so I think the
- 5:47Speaker 2: more people that are starting to notice him and you know,
- 5:51Speaker 2: hopefully the pressure doesn't get to him. That's you know,
- 5:53Speaker 2: first and foremost.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Yeah, probably a little too early to be talking so young.
- 5:58Speaker 1: But another thing, and this might come maturity to me.
- 6:01Speaker 1: And Ace is sort of the leader of that pitching staff,
- 6:04Speaker 1: you know, think of Max sure as are justin Verlander
- 6:06Speaker 1: in their primes. Jared Weaver, you know, back when he
- 6:10Speaker 1: was in Anaheim. I don't know with Sorry, I don't
- 6:14Speaker 1: know him that well. I talked to him quite a
- 6:16Speaker 1: bit last year. He seems very shy. Obviously he's from
- 6:19Speaker 1: the Dominicans, so there's a bit of a language barrier.
- 6:22Speaker 1: So it sort of remains to see be seen how
- 6:25Speaker 1: much of a leadership role he takes. But certainly you
- 6:28Speaker 1: can lead by example by going out there and giving
- 6:31Speaker 1: your a team a chance to win every time you start.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And I think when you know these caliber of pitchers
- 6:38Speaker 1: take them mound, the team feels better about their chances too.
- 6:42Speaker 1: So let's turn our attention to Logan o'happy. As we know,
- 6:45Speaker 1: it's been a rough start for the Angels catcher. He
- 6:48Speaker 1: made three throwing errors in the three losses of the
- 6:51Speaker 1: two in Houston. In the first game in Chicago and
- 6:55Speaker 1: he had that controversial failure to challenge potential third strike
- 7:00Speaker 1: call and Sunday's lost to Houston. That was very costly,
- 7:04Speaker 1: very costly. But he did come up huge Tuesday night
- 7:06Speaker 1: with a two out, two run single in the sixth
- 7:08Speaker 1: inning for the Angels only runs of the game. And
- 7:12Speaker 1: what I liked about that, I bet was not just
- 7:15Speaker 1: the result, was how he made an adjustment right in
- 7:18Speaker 1: the middle. He falls behind one and two to film.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Mayton is a pretty good reliever. Not sure why, but
- 7:24Speaker 1: Mayton has hung a curve and Logan just jumped all
- 7:27Speaker 1: over it, ripped that one hopper past Alex Bragman at
- 7:31Speaker 1: third base. You feel like with that start, Logan kind
- 7:35Speaker 1: of needed this for his confidence.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, I think his offense when he's doing well offensively,
- 7:44Speaker 2: he definitely seems to do better defensively more than him hitting, though.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I thought the fact that he did challenge the ball,
- 7:55Speaker 2: I think it was to Bregman. Yeah, and it was
- 7:59Speaker 2: a ball, but it was I mean, it was literally
- 8:04Speaker 2: right on the line.
- 8:05Speaker 3: It was so close.
- 8:07Speaker 2: So the fact that he was able to just you know,
- 8:10Speaker 2: like jump back in and not second guess himself even
- 8:14Speaker 2: though it happened to still be a ball, I think
- 8:16Speaker 2: that was really important.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Like, I think that was more exciting.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Obviously, the fact that he got the the hit that
- 8:24Speaker 2: ended up making us win the game is great for
- 8:26Speaker 2: his confidence. But I think mentally, to see that he
- 8:30Speaker 2: was able to make the adjustment and challenge the call
- 8:35Speaker 2: rather than getting stuck in his like oh maybe it wasn't,
- 8:37Speaker 2: maybe it is, you know and freeze, that's a good
- 8:41Speaker 2: sign that he really is working on his mentality.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And to Logan's credit, he kind of downplayed the whole
- 8:47Speaker 1: redemption angle after the game in a conversation with reporters,
- 8:51Speaker 1: including Jeff Fledger of the Orange County Register. And I
- 8:55Speaker 1: think this is a lot talking about what happened last
- 9:00Speaker 1: year with him, which was a brutal, brutal year at
- 9:03Speaker 1: the plate and behind the plate. Logan said, crap happens.
- 9:07Speaker 1: It just seems like a lot because it's stockpiled into
- 9:09Speaker 1: the first few games. But there's no reason to panic.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I already went through that last year. I already went
- 9:15Speaker 1: through the ups and downs of it last year, and
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm not putting myself through that mental torture again. You
- 9:21Speaker 1: just go attack day to day, attack the process, what
- 9:24Speaker 1: will do tomorrow, and view the result as a distraction. Now,
- 9:31Speaker 1: we said many times how tough a year it was
- 9:34Speaker 1: for Logan, But is this maybe a sign of some
- 9:36Speaker 1: maturity from him and a sign that moving forward he's
- 9:41Speaker 1: not going to let these these valleys affect them.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I think the results will speak for itself.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Right. I think it's one thing to be able, And
- 9:54Speaker 2: I think Sam Blum said it on Your Guys' podcast
- 9:57Speaker 2: last week, where it's like, yeah, sure you can. He's
- 10:00Speaker 2: really good at speaking to the media and kind of
- 10:04Speaker 2: knowing what to say and keeping his head up when
- 10:08Speaker 2: you know he's in front of the cameras and it's like, okay,
- 10:11Speaker 2: but what does that look like? After the game. What
- 10:14Speaker 2: is he doing after the fact. So I think the
- 10:17Speaker 2: results are going to speak for itself. The fact that,
- 10:20Speaker 2: like I said, he did jump right back in and
- 10:23Speaker 2: question the strike zone, that's great. I do one hundred
- 10:27Speaker 2: percent agree to that. He needs to take the pressure
- 10:32Speaker 2: off of himself.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I'm sure it was.
- 10:36Speaker 2: A little humbling that the Angel Stadium took his picture
- 10:40Speaker 2: off of the you know, the billboards when you go
- 10:43Speaker 2: into the stadium. I was personally really surprised by that. Yeah,
- 10:50Speaker 2: I think that that was uh for me. I know,
- 10:54Speaker 2: my ego would be like a little bruised. I'd be like, wow, okay,
- 10:58Speaker 2: you put me up there and I take you down.
- 11:00Speaker 3: You know.
- 11:01Speaker 2: It's not like I got traded like the other guys
- 11:04Speaker 2: that went off the wall.
- 11:05Speaker 3: So yeah, I don't know if.
- 11:09Speaker 2: If that all is part of it, if that they're
- 11:11Speaker 2: behind the scenes really working on his mental game and
- 11:15Speaker 2: just saying, hey, you know, that was a lot. We'll
- 11:17Speaker 2: we'll take it, you know, we'll take some pressure off
- 11:20Speaker 2: of you and.
- 11:23Speaker 3: We'll see how he does.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I think I'm really excited to see how he is
- 11:27Speaker 2: in person when the cameras are not on him while
- 11:31Speaker 2: he's warming up for you know, right before he goes
- 11:34Speaker 2: on the on deck circle, before he goes up to that.
- 11:36Speaker 2: You know, I feel like I have a really cool
- 11:39Speaker 2: vantage point of the players and how they're processing things.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Like Taylor Ward was always like so cool, calm and collected,
- 11:47Speaker 2: just so focused. So yeah, I think that'll be interesting
- 11:54Speaker 2: to see on Friday night to see if I can
- 11:57Speaker 2: notice any sort of difference.
- 12:00Speaker 1: We take a little break for a word from our sponsors,
- 12:02Speaker 1: and when we come back, we'll talk a little bit
- 12:03Speaker 1: about the Angels bullpen and their third baseman.
- 12:08Speaker 4: This episode is brought to you by Fox One. Go

- 12:53Speaker 1: Now and welcome back to Halo Territory. We're joined today
- 12:58Speaker 1: by Breezy Nolan, long time Angels fan and season ticket holder.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Angels did get some pretty nice relief work Tuesday night.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Chase Silseath through a scoreless seventh inning, Drew Pomerantz through
- 13:11Speaker 1: a scoreless eighth, and I liked how Kurt Suzuki used
- 13:15Speaker 1: his bullpen in the ninth. He kept Pomerants the left
- 13:19Speaker 1: hander and two face the left handed hitting Pete Crow
- 13:22Speaker 1: Armstrong and uh, not sure why p Pca was trying
- 13:27Speaker 1: to bump with two strikes, but he fouled it off
- 13:30Speaker 1: for a strikeout. Then Kurt goes to, uh, Jordan, you
- 13:35Speaker 1: call him Romano. I called him Romano. I guess we're
- 13:38Speaker 1: supposed to call him Romano. And he gets the last
- 13:41Speaker 1: two outs for the save. The fans know, you know,
- 13:45Speaker 1: given the choice, I'd rather have a dominant closer like
- 13:48Speaker 1: Edwin Diaz or Mason Miller to pitch the ninth. But
- 13:51Speaker 1: sometimes when you're when you don't have that clear cut
- 13:53Speaker 1: ninth inning guy. You have your force to go to
- 13:56Speaker 1: matchups and and managers do stuff like this said, the
- 14:00Speaker 1: fans know of that, notice that stuff breezy and and
- 14:04Speaker 1: you think that was sort of a learning learning experience
- 14:08Speaker 1: for Kurt in his first year's manager.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, I know that I noticed those things. I
- 14:16Speaker 2: don't know if that's like a Angels fan. You know,
- 14:22Speaker 2: we talked about it before that they do have a
- 14:25Speaker 2: lot of families and a lot of people that just
- 14:26Speaker 2: come for fun, So maybe the average fan wouldn't notice
- 14:31Speaker 2: something like that, but I definitely, you know, the people
- 14:34Speaker 2: around me and my section were always like lefty, lefty, matchup,
- 14:38Speaker 2: we love to see it, let's go.
- 14:40Speaker 3: But yeah, I completely agree.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I think it's we're definitely missing Kenley Jensen's Janssen's presence,
- 14:49Speaker 2: so and Ben Joyce obviously and Stevenson who were not
- 14:56Speaker 2: going to be seeing unfortunately. So yeah, it's definitely.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I feel like.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Kurt has a very good perspective of who to go
- 15:08Speaker 2: to because he is a catcher and to know, you
- 15:12Speaker 2: know what he would probably prefer in those moments. So
- 15:15Speaker 2: I think he's doing a good job at at least
- 15:19Speaker 2: from what I you know, obviously we've only had you know,
- 15:23Speaker 2: a week of baseball, not even but yeah, I think
- 15:27Speaker 2: so far he's doing a good job, and I think
- 15:29Speaker 2: that the fans who are paying attention can see that
- 15:33Speaker 2: as well.
- 15:34Speaker 1: One player who is not doing a very good job
- 15:37Speaker 1: is he on Mancatta, the third baseman. He's two for
- 15:41Speaker 1: seventeen in his first five games with two errors. Then
- 15:45Speaker 1: at the third ning of Monday Night six two loss
- 15:47Speaker 1: of the Cubs Chicago head Runners, on second and third
- 15:51Speaker 1: with one out, Carson Kelly lines out to parazit second.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Proza double clutches, but he gets to throw to a
- 15:57Speaker 1: third in time to double up the runner, but instead
- 16:00Speaker 1: of putting his foot on the bag like a first
- 16:03Speaker 1: basement would, Moncatta tries to tag the eye out the
- 16:06Speaker 1: runners safe. Moys's by Asteros hits the next pitch for
- 16:10Speaker 1: a two run single and a six to zero lead.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Pretty much game over at that point. Moncatta did hit
- 16:16Speaker 1: a two run homer in the seventh, but he showed
- 16:19Speaker 1: for me he showed a lack of awareness again in
- 16:22Speaker 1: the ninth, when there were two outs, two on, and
- 16:26Speaker 1: he failed to challenge a first pitch strike that was
- 16:28Speaker 1: clearly a ball. Daniel still had two challenges left in
- 16:33Speaker 1: that ninth, then why not spend one there? Maybe he
- 16:36Speaker 1: draws a walk, brings a tying run to the plate.
- 16:39Speaker 1: So it's been a rough start, Breezy. How are Halo
- 16:42Speaker 1: fans feeling about their third baseman right now?
- 16:46Speaker 2: I mean, I think Swilly said it best on Twitter
- 16:49Speaker 2: the other day. She was like, is our third baseman
- 16:52Speaker 2: always going to be cursed?
- 16:54Speaker 3: Like That's kind.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Of how it has felt for a very long time. People,
- 17:00Speaker 2: you know, they look really good on another team as
- 17:03Speaker 2: a third base and they come over and it just
- 17:06Speaker 2: we're like, where did where did that?
- 17:07Speaker 3: Where did that go where?
- 17:08Speaker 2: You know? But I think at the same time, it's
- 17:15Speaker 2: like pretty well known that Mancata is not super into it,
- 17:20Speaker 2: Like there's it's it's giving Anthony Rendon unfortunately, and it
- 17:25Speaker 2: looks like he just doesn't really want to be.
- 17:27Speaker 3: There, you know.
- 17:31Speaker 2: And and I've thought Candelario, he he looked great last
- 17:35Speaker 2: night at third. He had a throwing error, I believe
- 17:40Speaker 2: at one point. But you know, I would much rather
- 17:44Speaker 2: watch somebody who looks like they're really in the game
- 17:47Speaker 2: and when they're making that many mental errors, especially not
- 17:53Speaker 2: challenging a ball that was very clearly a ball that
- 17:57Speaker 2: shows that you're just you're not there mentally, and so
- 18:01Speaker 2: I really appreciated that. Yet again Kurt took him out
- 18:04Speaker 2: and replaced him, and it's like, hey, you know, if
- 18:06Speaker 2: you don't want to be here and be in this
- 18:08Speaker 2: with this team, like the fact that Mike Trout is
- 18:11Speaker 2: looking like Mike Trout again and we didn't go out
- 18:15Speaker 2: and like stack the team, and that there's somebody just
- 18:20Speaker 2: like whatever. You know, it's so frustrating as a fan
- 18:26Speaker 2: to just be like, we have been waiting for this
- 18:29Speaker 2: Mike Trout, you know, and the fact that like its
- 18:35Speaker 2: just that this is the depth that we have is
- 18:39Speaker 2: so infuriating. And I can't even imagine, you know, how
- 18:44Speaker 2: it feels to be on that team and and to
- 18:46Speaker 2: know that you know, there was no support and you know,
- 18:52Speaker 2: it's just it's it sucks.
- 18:55Speaker 3: It totally sucks.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I think Mark Trumbo, our co host on the show,
- 18:58Speaker 1: said the best the other day. He looks disinterested. Not
- 19:03Speaker 1: a good adjective you want attached to you as a ballplayer,
- 19:07Speaker 1: and that has to change pretty quick or we may
- 19:10Speaker 1: not be seeing much more of you on around Anaheim
- 19:15Speaker 1: We're going to change gears completely right now and get
- 19:18Speaker 1: a fans perspective on some of the new dining options
- 19:21Speaker 1: at the Big A, where the Angels will play host
- 19:25Speaker 1: to the Seattle Mariners and Friday Night's home opener. Breezy
- 19:29Speaker 1: sampled a bunch of food before the Dodgers Angels Freeway
- 19:33Speaker 1: Series game in Anaheim a few weekends ago, and let's
- 19:36Speaker 1: start to go with a video that she put together
- 19:41Speaker 1: of the experience.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Hi, guys, is Breezy with Halo Territory. I don't know
- 19:46Speaker 2: how I got the credentials for this. We are going
- 19:50Speaker 2: to go inside and try a bunch of new food.
- 19:54Speaker 2: I have really stupid dietary restrictions and a lot of
- 19:58Speaker 2: the stuff I can't eat.
- 20:00Speaker 3: So Emily is here is done? No, it's at least yeah.
- 20:07Speaker 2: You will know that I critique the Angel's food a lot,
- 20:11Speaker 2: and as I'm looking around at all of this food,
- 20:15Speaker 2: I still think that they missed the mark by like
- 20:18Speaker 2: a long shot.
- 20:20Speaker 3: It looks like a heart attack.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Like for those people who have dietary restrictions, for.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Those who like to eat a little bit.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Healthier, You're not really gonna find it on any of
- 20:30Speaker 2: the new menu items. Okay, I'm gonna go with the
- 20:33Speaker 2: pink cups. There is a lime included and taquens it's
- 20:38Speaker 2: pink pineapple.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Huh, that's pineapple. Okay, okay, we'll be getting that again.
- 20:45Speaker 2: The pork chili verde mac and cheese.
- 20:50Speaker 5: That's a heart attack and a cup for sure, like
- 20:52Speaker 5: big fans, a little picked to it. Chicken mac and
- 20:55Speaker 5: cheese situation giving cheese.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I think it's really good.
- 21:01Speaker 5: Actually, oh my god, like I'm pretty into this. I
- 21:03Speaker 5: got ten out of ten. Would order glazy.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Mm hmm. That is good.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Really it looks like a sushi roll hot duck.
- 21:14Speaker 3: If you're an everything bagel lover, this is where it's
- 21:16Speaker 3: AT's struggling off. Nothing special, got lobster. Let us run.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Oh oh that's good. Start really good.
- 21:29Speaker 2: You're sitting here drying foods while the Dodgers are taking
- 21:32Speaker 2: batting practice.
- 21:34Speaker 3: That looks good. I will be getting this. Okay. This
- 21:37Speaker 3: is the not chicken burger. I don't know what they.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Are, but it's good.
- 21:42Speaker 5: If you are a barbecue person in the chicken boige.
- 21:45Speaker 3: There you go, and I have whole a lot of flavor.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Like it's nothing special, shares. It's a buffalo. That's a
- 21:52Speaker 3: buffalo wing wang. Honestly, it tastes like Domino's buffalo. I
- 21:57Speaker 3: try this salad now them that smells good dressingorn yea
- 22:05Speaker 3: not a lot of flavor. Yeah, I hate when you're right.
- 22:08Speaker 3: It's really annoying. Do you buy chocolate strawberry waffle? That's
- 22:11Speaker 3: the one she will remember? Do you? Oh, that's a
- 22:16Speaker 3: currently definitely tree sledges.
- 22:19Speaker 2: This is a brickie overpowered by the brownie.
- 22:23Speaker 3: You can't really taste the cold keep trees. Letch just
- 22:25Speaker 3: take a huge fan of that take away.
- 22:28Speaker 2: You're definitely still gonna find better food at Daughter Stadium
- 22:31Speaker 2: and at Paco Park.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Who said that?
- 22:35Speaker 2: I would still really love healthier options. We'll see this
- 22:39Speaker 2: is breezy and Emily with Halo territory.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Thank you for that, My goodness. So they expect you
- 22:46Speaker 1: eat everything on that table.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I did not. That was all Emily, all right?
- 22:54Speaker 1: So so what was the star of the table there?
- 22:58Speaker 2: Okay, so I wouldn't eat a lot of it, but
- 23:01Speaker 2: I did still try the crispy chicken mac and cheese.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Just the chicken, and it had like this country gravy
- 23:11Speaker 2: in it.
- 23:12Speaker 3: It was so good.
- 23:15Speaker 2: That one is at concession stand to thirty seven that
- 23:22Speaker 2: fans can go and get it, because I know a
- 23:24Speaker 2: lot of people were asking me about it after I
- 23:27Speaker 2: posted the video. And then also the lobster raps just
- 23:31Speaker 2: because it is actually a healthier option and it was
- 23:36Speaker 2: really really good and really flavorful.
- 23:39Speaker 3: I cut it out of the video.
- 23:40Speaker 2: But Emily was like, oh, there's no way I'm trying
- 23:42Speaker 2: the lobster thing like that looks. She's like, I don't
- 23:45Speaker 2: like the lobster. And then she tried it and she
- 23:46Speaker 2: was like, I was really good. So you think you
- 23:49Speaker 2: don't like lobster? You know it was. It was a
- 23:53Speaker 2: twenty out of ten for me.
- 23:54Speaker 1: So wow, Why in general does the food at the
- 23:58Speaker 1: Big A not quite measure up to La and San Diego?
- 24:02Speaker 2: So for one, they both just have way more options
- 24:10Speaker 2: of like actual restaurants that people are familiar with. And
- 24:17Speaker 2: then two for those that are like trying to actually
- 24:23Speaker 2: spend a little bit more money at the baseball stadium,
- 24:28Speaker 2: the I forget like what they're called a Dodger Stadium.
- 24:32Speaker 2: It's not the Diamond Club. It's down like the third
- 24:35Speaker 2: and first baseline. Maybe it's a Lexa, No, the Lexus Club.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Is the Diamond Club. I don't know, but they get
- 24:42Speaker 2: their own restaurant. And that restaurant, I mean the meals
- 24:46Speaker 2: that they make. There's like fresh salmon, and I mean
- 24:51Speaker 2: just I've I've have so many pictures on my phone
- 24:54Speaker 2: of the different types of food that both stadiums provide people.
- 24:59Speaker 3: With that are looking to spend a little bit more money.
- 25:03Speaker 2: I know several people in the dugout suites that are
- 25:07Speaker 2: spending a lot of money and their menu was like,
- 25:12Speaker 2: you know, chicken tenders and pizza, and they're like, we
- 25:15Speaker 2: don't even want to order this, you know, like for
- 25:18Speaker 2: the caliber of people that they get in those suites
- 25:22Speaker 2: and that they're you know, hey guys, this is what
- 25:25Speaker 2: we're offering you. It just you know, they're I've heard,
- 25:28Speaker 2: you know, I've had a lot of conversations with them.
- 25:30Speaker 2: They're just like, it doesn't make sense why we're not treated,
- 25:34Speaker 2: you know, differently, that we should be getting different types
- 25:39Speaker 2: of menu options. So that's what I'm here to do.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I'm here to speak for them because they're not being heard.
- 25:46Speaker 1: What healthier options could Anaheim provide that maybe Petco Park
- 25:50Speaker 1: and Dodger Stadium were.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Offering, you know, to me, it's more so like the
- 25:57Speaker 2: way that they go about it, where they're providing like
- 26:04Speaker 2: a bunch of different side dishes and then people can
- 26:07Speaker 2: go up and just choose them. And I know it's
- 26:10Speaker 2: kind of similar in the Diamond Club, but any time
- 26:16Speaker 2: I've gone, they still don't have a lot of gluten
- 26:19Speaker 2: free options or dairy free options, you know, like I'd
- 26:22Speaker 2: have to go talk to somebody on the side and
- 26:25Speaker 2: then they will go and make me something like and
- 26:28Speaker 2: that just feels gross too, Like I don't want to
- 26:31Speaker 2: have to go and like feel like, oh a bother
- 26:34Speaker 2: and have somebody make me a special dish like that
- 26:37Speaker 2: just seems kind of ridiculous. Get with the times, a
- 26:40Speaker 2: lot of people have dietary issues.
- 26:42Speaker 3: And you know, and.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Just just have them available, you know.
- 26:48Speaker 1: So well, I have to say, as a fan growing
- 26:52Speaker 1: up in the sixties and seventies to see things at
- 26:56Speaker 1: the ballpark like beef strogging off and lobster reps. I mean,
- 26:59Speaker 1: when I was a kid, I want to Shaye Stadium
- 27:00Speaker 1: and Yankee Stadium. I think the fair pretty much consisted
- 27:04Speaker 1: of cold hot thugs, those huge pretzels, knishes which were
- 27:08Speaker 1: kind of cool, peanuts, and cracker Jack, chocolate malts. That's
- 27:13Speaker 1: about it. But you're in a different generation here, and
- 27:17Speaker 1: so are baseball fans. Like how important is food to
- 27:20Speaker 1: the fan experience right now?
- 27:23Speaker 3: I think it's huge.
- 27:24Speaker 2: You know, if at the end of the day games
- 27:27Speaker 2: are starting at six thirty eight, you kind of have
- 27:30Speaker 2: to get there around like five point thirty five forty five.
- 27:34Speaker 2: You know that you're going to be eating dinner there,
- 27:38Speaker 2: And if you're spending a significant amount of money on
- 27:43Speaker 2: a ticket, like you want to be able to have
- 27:45Speaker 2: a nice meal. And I know, especially as a season
- 27:48Speaker 2: ticket holder, I'm there all the time, and like the
- 27:52Speaker 2: last thing I want to do is eat a chicken
- 27:54Speaker 2: tender every night of the week, you know, like I
- 27:57Speaker 2: will literally feel so sick that week is over.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Nine year old might like that. A nine year old
- 28:04Speaker 1: might like that menu, but.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Totally yeah, but not me, you know, I will. I
- 28:10Speaker 2: will be very inflamed and very upset and uh yeah
- 28:15Speaker 2: and so and I think that they're kind of I
- 28:17Speaker 2: think that's why some season ticket holders are giving up
- 28:20Speaker 2: their seats. They feel like they're not being thought of
- 28:22Speaker 2: in that way. I've had a lot of discussions with
- 28:24Speaker 2: people about that too, Like you know, they feel like, sure,
- 28:29Speaker 2: there people are the menu is directed towards those one
- 28:34Speaker 2: off people that are showing up, and you know, oh cool,
- 28:37Speaker 2: I can have a Burger tonight, like it's my cheap nine.
- 28:39Speaker 3: It's like, okay, but.
- 28:41Speaker 2: What about the season ticket holders that do go to
- 28:44Speaker 2: forty games a year, you know, like we don't want
- 28:47Speaker 2: to have the same nasty cheeseburger, you know, three nights
- 28:51Speaker 2: a week, and you know the times are just that
- 28:55Speaker 2: people want healthier options. So yeah, I wish, I wish
- 29:00Speaker 2: already would would think of those things.
- 29:03Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna we're gonna close the show. We're
- 29:06Speaker 1: gonna have a little fun with this one with a
- 29:09Speaker 1: tweet that was referencing our co host Mark Trumbo. And
- 29:15Speaker 1: if you're watching on YouTube, you'll see if you're listening
- 29:17Speaker 1: on the audio pod. I'll try to describe it, but
- 29:21Speaker 1: it came from Angels Win last night. It says Mark
- 29:25Speaker 1: Trumbo's face, it never changes. There's a grid with the
- 29:28Speaker 1: I think eight or twelve Mark Trumbo's shots. One says surprised,
- 29:33Speaker 1: one says joyful, angry, sad, stoked, laughing, confused, discuss it.
- 29:38Speaker 1: They're all the same. I have to admit Mark definitely
- 29:41Speaker 1: puts the stow in stoic and is not quite the
- 29:46Speaker 1: man of a thousand faces. Breezie, what do you think
- 29:51Speaker 1: we could do to, you know, get a little more reaction,
- 29:54Speaker 1: get a little more facial expression, you know, get a
- 29:57Speaker 1: little bit more emotion out of our co host Mark Trumbull.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Any suggestions, any thoughts?
- 30:02Speaker 2: You know, when I I was on last time, one
- 30:06Speaker 2: of my friends texted me and he was like, man,
- 30:09Speaker 2: you even gotta got Marked to crack a smile. So
- 30:14Speaker 2: I would say, I think you just need to have
- 30:15Speaker 2: me on a little bit more. I say that landish stuff,
- 30:18Speaker 2: and he's I think it like he smiled, but I
- 30:21Speaker 2: think it was more of like a oh no, like
- 30:23Speaker 2: what it's gonna come out of this person's mouth. So
- 30:27Speaker 2: maybe just like keep him on his toes a little
- 30:30Speaker 2: bit more and then you get more reaction out of him.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Well, listeners, viewers, if you have any suggestions on how
- 30:35Speaker 1: to get Mark to change some facial expressions, write them
- 30:38Speaker 1: in the comments section, send him to the Hill of
- 30:40Speaker 1: Territory page or account on X and we're going to
- 30:45Speaker 1: close our show with that. Breezy. Once again, thank you
- 30:48Speaker 1: for joining us. We'll check in probably shortly after opening day.
- 30:53Speaker 1: We'll see out there this weekend, and for all fans,
- 30:56Speaker 1: please like and subscribe, and that's gonna be it for
- 30:59Speaker 1: Halo Territory.
