- Mindy: Hey, it's Mindy. After all those years together doing the morning show on the radio station, we're gonna keep the fun going right here and wait until you hear what happened this week. Have you ever got caught hiding Halloween candy from your kids? In my case, my husband. The answer is a big fat yes. I do it every year because at the end of September, there's always like buy one, get one. Beginning October, you can use your coupons because Halloween candy is so expensive. And living on Merritt Island in my neighborhood, we get a ton of kids. Plus, I decorate like crazy. So I'm that house that everybody wants to go to, so I have to get good candy. So I try to stock up before Halloween to get all those good deals, and I always hide up for my husband. So whether Whether it's in the guest room, whether it's in the refrigerator, in the garage, whether it's in one of the guest closets, the bedroom closet. I try to hide candy everywhere. I just gotta remember where I put it. Case example: there's a bag hidden in here. He doesn't know it. So the other day, he says at the middle of the night, he's like, we're watching TV, and he says, Do we have any little chocolates? And I said, sorry, babe, no. And it got real quiet. And I'm like, well, what's wrong? He goes, what about the Snickers hidden in the other fridge in the garage? Really? Really? You went? He goes, Well, I saw it. I go, I hid it under the flour. Yeah, I put flour in the refrigerator so that it it sits down. He can't see it. Apparently he saw it. I got busted. Another story, apparently, this happens to a lot of people, at least in my household. So my sister-in-law was here with her kids, her three kids, for the summer, and they were hiding candy from the kids. And I didn't know this. And this is my husband and his sister. And they told me the next morning of what happened. So apparently, my husband got up in the middle of night and he went into the refrigerator in the garage. And he was sneaking candy because he hid it in there. So he was eating candy in the garage. All of a sudden, he hears the garage door open. He thought it was me. And around the corner comes his sister, who also hid candy in the refrigerator in a different place. And she was sneaking into the garage to eat her candy so that she didn't have to share it with the kids because the kids were gonna ate it in like five minutes. And they both looked at each other and he's like, What are you doing here? And she's like, Well, what are you doing here? And they both started busting out, laughing in the middle of the night. And yeah, they sat in the garage eating candy. Yeah. That's a story that we'll always remember. Now let's get to the top three things you need to know. If you're a Disney pass holder, they're raising the ticket prices. You're gonna have to pay more at Walt Disney World at ticket and annual price. Prices went up. A one-day one-park ticket is now $229 plus tax. But Florida residents only Pixie Dust Pass also went up $10. So now it's just under $500. And if I am correct. I think Brevard County has the most Disney pass holders, like across Florida, if I am correct about that. But just so you know, you're gonna pay a little bit more. And did you know Brevard County is the second most popular place in Florida for New Yorkers to have their second home? So Melbourne, Orlando International Airport is adding seasonal nonstop weekend flights to New York's LaGuardia Airport. And Delta flights are gonna be scheduled to begin on December 19th. When my husband, when my husband sister lived in Jersey, we would go up there every December because at Christmas time everything's decorated. Then we'd go in the city, we'd go see a Broadway show, we'd have dinner, we'd go to Rockefeller Center to see the tree. Now, December nineteenth, you can get a flight from Melbourne International Airport. Did you hear about this one? Tombstone. Tombstone has lots of new limited edition candy corn pizza kit for Halloween. It comes with pepperoni or five cheese frozen pizza, plus a packet of candy corn and instructions on how to build the dessert mashup. Candy corn on your pizza. That's the whole idea. The kits are only sold online, and you can check it out there. I saw the photos, which is right here, which I think is very cute. No, no, if I'm gonna eat it. Were the next day at school? Wanted to make people know that I was at that show. Def Leopard is announcing a North American tour for next spring. It kicks off in Pennsylvania on March 2nd. And they'll be in Tampa on June 13th. And Google Dolls will join them on the road. they were here, my gosh, with Joan Jett, Poison. Motley crew. They did a whole big tour a couple of summers ago and went to that too, and it was amazing. Loved it. Can't get enough the 80s. Guns and Roses are being added to the lineup for the Aerosmith Comeback Concerts. The California Dream On, Aerosmith and Friends shows are set for October 29th and November 1st, but at Hollywood Bowl. I couldn't find any Florida dates. a couple years ago, my brother and I went to Rockville in Daytona and the headliner was Gun and Ro Guns and Roses. And that was the reason why we wanted to go. I like, Guns and Roses! Finally get to see him. And it got rained out. Boo. I was like, our chance to see him like an hour away from my house. Yeah, I'm not gonna fly to California. American Idol is moving from Los Angeles to Atlanta after 25 years in Southern California. And yes, all the judges are gonna come back. Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, which I adore all three of them, and Ryan Secrets, of course, is gonna be returning as the host. The show will err on ABC next year. Everyone's been waiting for this. Big fans of this. Hallmark Channel is getting an early start on the holiday season to their countdown to Christmas lineup. Are you ready for this? Featuring 34 original movies and a hosted special and a new season of mistletoe murders. Guess when it kicks off? Tomorrow, October 16th. And we're gonna put on our jammies and we're gonna get hot chocolate. We're gonna put on our socks, but make sure you bring the air conditioning down because we do live in Florida. Just to get ready. The new movies arrive every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for 10 weeks. and they're gonna be airing at 8 o'clock, so it kicks off tomorrow. Get you in the holiday spirit. So let's talk about what's trending. But before we get to the list of the hottest Halloween costumes, do you remember back in the day when all the costumes were like one choice? There were the plastic jumpsuits, the plastic masks that You sweat through. They would cut you right here because it was so plastic, but you only got a chance to choose from like Batman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman. There was a princess with a weird blonde hair. remember the Dracula, Frankenstein, werewolf. There was only a certain handful, but everyone had the same outfit and it was a plastic jumpsuit. And it came in a plastic bag. and it smelled like a shower curtain when you put on the plastic mask. Yeah, I remember that. And you tied it from the back and you kept running by the time you got home it was split in two because you're running from house to house. those plastic unbreathable jumpsuits. You remember that back in the day? Now you go to one of the stores and they're so elaborate and they're really expensive. But this year's top Halloween costumes number one Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton, believe it or not, is number one. K-pop Demon Hunters, all the characters that came in. Taylor Swift on the list. Supergirls, Spider-Man, He-Man, the Adams Family. If you're gonna do a family dress-up, Super Mario Brothers, and Pennywise the Clown from it. So if you're looking for some ideas, that's what's trending right now. My sister and I love Halloween. We go all out. We both live on Merritt Island. Sometimes we battle it out. This year, I don't think we're gonna do that. Because our lives are a little bit upside down. But are you decorating? Also, on Saturday, the city of West Melbourne is having skate or treat bash from four to eight at the community park on Minton Road. It's free to attend. Also on Saturday, Gateway Community Church in Titusville is having their truck retreat, but there's gonna be a ton of them coming up, their fall trail from 4 to 6 p.m. They're gonna have candy, games, it's community fun. And of course, get your tickets early because it kicks off tonight. Brevard County Sheriff Charities Inc., Haunted Jail Trail. It's tonight, tomorrow night, and Saturday night, and then next week, October 23rd and 24th, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Camp Road in Cocoa. Cost you about 20 bucks. Our local feel-good story of the day, where one of our locals just turned 109 years old. So let's get to our local Feel-Good story of the day. A Brevard County woman may be one of Florida's oldest residents, Mildred Phaneuf turned 109 years old on October 3rd. She was born in 1917, is a former teacher and a mother of eight. She was born in Vermont and moved here to Florida about 30 years ago. Her family and friends had a big party for her at Hospice of Health First in Melbourne. I love her advice. They asked her, you know, what's you know, what's the secret to a long life? Her advice for a long life is making sure you don't eat all of the cake. Just eat a slice, I guess she's trying to say. God bless her. 109 years old, right here in Melbourne. So happy birthday, Mildred. And that's our local feel good story of the day. Our hack of the day. This is really cool. I think this is so easy to do. I love do it yourself projects because sometimes you just don't have time, and you're probably like me just running around. So, what you do for Halloween, you get a wreath, and you can find all this stuff like at the Dollar Tree or the Dollar Store or you know, places you want to go using your coupon. So you get a wreath, and this is the ping pong ball wreath. So you hot glue white ping pong balls onto the foam wreath all the way around, then add large and small googly eyes, which you can also find at the Dollar Tree, and glue them on there, and then it's simple, it's easy, and you can hang it on your door. And then the eyes keep moving because you know, if someone's opening the doors, the eyes move. Makes it creepy and really cool. Our song of the day. I'm gonna take you back to 1990. I was listening to it because I was going through some old CDs and I thought to myself, wow, I can't believe I have this. And I thought, Vision of Love. What a great song. Vision of Love by Mariah Carey. try singing the high notes in the car or at home, but at least by yourself. I love that song. And the lyrics are good.
