- 0:01Speaker 1: Taking a Walk Nashville.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Hi, this is Sarah Harrelson, your host of Taking a
- 0:05Speaker 2: Walk Nashville, and tonight we are at the iconic music
- 0:09Speaker 2: venue Third in Lindsley, right near downtown Nashville, and I'm
- 0:13Speaker 2: you're in the green room today with our guest Wendy Morton.
- 0:17Speaker 2: She was on the Women Behind the Lyrics episode with
- 0:20Speaker 2: us on Taking a Walk Nashville, and she is about
- 0:23Speaker 2: to go on stage with the Time Jumpers here in
- 0:25Speaker 2: a bit.
- 0:25Speaker 3: They perform here at Third and Lindsley.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Every Monday night in Nashville, and there's just such a
- 0:32Speaker 4: stellar lineup of award winning musicians in the Time Jumpers.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Wendy, thanks for being back on Taking a Walk Nashville.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Thank you for inviting me.
- 0:40Speaker 4: This is exciting, it is How long have you been
- 0:43Speaker 4: with the Time Jumpers?
- 0:45Speaker 3: I will say this is six years. I've been in
- 0:48Speaker 3: math for six years, which is I never thought this
- 0:51Speaker 3: could happen. Yeah, that's amazing.
- 0:54Speaker 5: And so in that six years, do you perform every
- 0:59Speaker 5: Monday night? And do you guys rehearse every week and
- 1:03Speaker 5: change up the set list?
- 1:05Speaker 3: We don't rehearse, which is really ironic. But when somebody
- 1:09Speaker 3: wants to add a new song. They just bring it in,
- 1:12Speaker 3: they put it, bring your body a chart, and then
- 1:14Speaker 3: we just try to do it that night. Wow, just
- 1:17Speaker 3: like tonight, I probably try for a couple of songs
- 1:20Speaker 3: that hadn't done before. But these guys they make their
- 1:23Speaker 3: living as session musicians, and so there is easy for
- 1:27Speaker 3: them just to pick up a heart, read it and play. Yeah.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Very fun.
- 1:30Speaker 4: And Vin Skill used to be a part of the
- 1:31Speaker 4: Time Jumpers and he was the one you introduced you
- 1:34Speaker 4: to this group.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Correct, Yes, it's because of him that he's turned me
- 1:38Speaker 3: onto this path. And I think we've never talked about it,
- 1:41Speaker 3: but I think that he probably felt, you know, when
- 1:44Speaker 3: he was going to the Eagles, if he didn't want
- 1:46Speaker 3: to leave them, you know, not that they needed anybody.
- 1:48Speaker 3: They were here before he became a member, and then
- 1:52Speaker 3: when he was a member for like thirteen fourteen years,
- 1:55Speaker 3: and he just starts saying, you know, when I started
- 1:59Speaker 3: touring with him, it was like, come sit in with us.
- 2:01Speaker 3: So I'm like, sit in with her, come sit in
- 2:03Speaker 3: with the Time Jumpers. And then I love the music,
- 2:06Speaker 3: love the musicianship, and love of those guys, so I
- 2:10Speaker 3: would just sit in every once in a while, and
- 2:11Speaker 3: I thing I know, they were just like, Hey, we're
- 2:14Speaker 3: going to add you to our team, even though that's
- 2:17Speaker 3: something they didn't have to do, and I'm so glad
- 2:19Speaker 3: they did. Yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I recommend anyone who was visiting Nashville, especially on
- 2:24Speaker 4: a Monday, to check out the time Jumpers at Third
- 2:27Speaker 4: in Lensley. And I kind of want to circle back
- 2:30Speaker 4: to the beginning of your career.
- 2:32Speaker 3: So you grew up in Memphis and you always say
- 2:36Speaker 3: that you watched Soul Train and he all growing up
- 2:39Speaker 3: and we're drawn to all sorts of genres.
- 2:42Speaker 4: And then you had to deal with EMI in the
- 2:44Speaker 4: nineties releasing Coming Out of the Rain, which was a
- 2:47Speaker 4: top five hit on Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart. What was
- 2:52Speaker 4: it like to you when you relocated to Nashville thirty
- 2:55Speaker 4: years ago and got your first label deal.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Well, it happened like I got my record deal first.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I was still in Memphis when I got the record deal,
- 3:03Speaker 3: and it was during the Whitney Houston era, so it
- 3:06Speaker 3: was Whitney Selenium, Mari Carry and I will consider myself
- 3:10Speaker 3: number four, but every label was looking for Whitney Houston.
- 3:13Speaker 3: So the only way I got to Nashville was because
- 3:17Speaker 3: my guy David Santo's Fixed Bared to the Stars, was like, Hey,
- 3:21Speaker 3: I'm gonna move to Nashville. I'm like, Memphis. People don't
- 3:25Speaker 3: live in Nashville. What are you talking about? So it
- 3:28Speaker 3: was not a bad move because I was a recording artist,
- 3:33Speaker 3: so it didn't matter where I lived. But we're in
- 3:35Speaker 3: the same state, so it wasn't It wasn't too strange
- 3:39Speaker 3: to be in Nashville other than I only knew it
- 3:42Speaker 3: for country music. But moving here thirty years ago was
- 3:47Speaker 3: still a little traumatizing. Yeah, but I moved here for
- 3:52Speaker 3: love and we're still here. Yeah, it's two together. There
- 3:56Speaker 3: was a lot different in Nashville thirty years ago. Now
- 4:00Speaker 3: it's all new and new restaurants, and people are from
- 4:03Speaker 3: everywhere and you know, this other place, but there's still
- 4:07Speaker 3: a small town element here. Yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I'm definitely embracing other genres besides country music now too.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yes, that was not in existence thirty years ago, right. Yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 4: And from there in your career, you became one of
- 4:22Speaker 4: the most in demand background vocalists. You toured with Julio Iglesias,
- 4:27Speaker 4: Martina McBride, and now Vince Gale. Was it kind of
- 4:31Speaker 4: a strange transition, going from an artist with a label
- 4:34Speaker 4: deal to a background vocalist.
- 4:37Speaker 3: No, because I didn't know what I wanted to do.
- 4:40Speaker 3: So when those opportunities presented themselves, it gave me a
- 4:44Speaker 3: chance to make a living when I was still trying
- 4:47Speaker 3: to figure it out, you know, and you're gonna have
- 4:51Speaker 3: to work one way or the other. You're gonna either
- 4:53Speaker 3: work at a department store or you can sing background
- 4:57Speaker 3: for somebody else. So I said, let me just try that.
- 5:00Speaker 3: And I used their experience to learn something from these icons.
- 5:05Speaker 3: And so that's what it was really about, was every
- 5:08Speaker 3: time I said yes, I the goal was to learn
- 5:11Speaker 3: something new that could take with me and add to
- 5:14Speaker 3: my artsal of things. And you know, it gave me,
- 5:17Speaker 3: brought me some time because I didn't know if I
- 5:20Speaker 3: wanted to be a solo artist anymore. I didn't know
- 5:23Speaker 3: if I wanted I love music enough to stay in it,
- 5:26Speaker 3: So those gigs gave me opportunity to stick around till
- 5:30Speaker 3: I can figure that out.
- 5:31Speaker 4: And I think it's so important that you bring that
- 5:33Speaker 4: up because it's not always easy for artists just to
- 5:37Speaker 4: get a label deal and go forward from there. A
- 5:41Speaker 4: lot of artists and creatives have to do other gigs
- 5:44Speaker 4: or side gigs while they're trying to make it as
- 5:48Speaker 4: a solo artist.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And like you said, it can bring you so much experience. Yes,
- 5:54Speaker 3: and that's what it did. And it gave me realistic
- 5:59Speaker 3: idea of what I really want out of my journey.
- 6:05Speaker 3: You know, I could check some things off. Do I
- 6:08Speaker 3: need a three million dollar maintenance G five six every year?
- 6:14Speaker 3: Do I need that? No? I don't need my private jet. Okay, good,
- 6:17Speaker 3: that's less pressure, you know. So it gave me a
- 6:20Speaker 3: chance to check some things off to help me, you know,
- 6:26Speaker 3: really figure out where I want to be and what
- 6:28Speaker 3: I don't want. Absolutely, yeah. Yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 4: And Vince Gale, he's been such a huge mentor in
- 6:34Speaker 4: your career as well and person in your life. He
- 6:38Speaker 4: produced your twenty twenty solo country album I've Got You Covered,
- 6:42Speaker 4: and it was this project that gave you the courage
- 6:44Speaker 4: to enter the show the voice in your fifties.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Correct. Yes, I just don't think that had I not
- 6:51Speaker 3: done that record with Vance, because Vice he chose the
- 6:55Speaker 3: songs at the end of the session. I mean, I
- 6:57Speaker 3: gonna do I know, so that was already story. So
- 7:00Speaker 3: he's like, oh, let's do each season, and I'm wondering,
- 7:03Speaker 3: like what is each season? Like, I've never heard it before,
- 7:06Speaker 3: So Dolly Parton do it? And so he would play
- 7:10Speaker 3: the song he had chosen. All the musicians. We did
- 7:15Speaker 3: it at his house, and he would choose a song
- 7:18Speaker 3: and then they would play it like two times. Somebody
- 7:20Speaker 3: would write a chart and then they're ready to cut. Now,
- 7:23Speaker 3: I've never been in that kind of situation before, because
- 7:28Speaker 3: you know, I'm not used to I'm used to jumping
- 7:31Speaker 3: in on live gigs, but on recording sessions you usually
- 7:34Speaker 3: have a little bit more planning. And so he called
- 7:38Speaker 3: the song and I never heard it before, but I
- 7:40Speaker 3: was like, can I make my own? Can I get
- 7:42Speaker 3: a lyric sheet and like make my notes? And I
- 7:47Speaker 3: told himself that I was not going to be afraid today,
- 7:50Speaker 3: like I don't care what happens, I'm going to jump
- 7:53Speaker 3: in today. I will not be the weakest link with
- 7:55Speaker 3: all these iconic musicians in the realm. So if I
- 7:59Speaker 3: don't know going to jump in, and Vin said, because
- 8:04Speaker 3: you don't know these songs, you're truly gonna make them
- 8:07Speaker 3: your own. That was the psychology behind that, which was brilliant.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I wouldn't have been able to come up with that.
- 8:15Speaker 3: I was terrified, but I was like, I'm just gonna
- 8:17Speaker 3: jump in even if I don't know the melody well enough.
- 8:20Speaker 3: I don't know the song at all. And he said, well,
- 8:22Speaker 3: that's what the magic is, and then you'll make it
- 8:25Speaker 3: your own. That's an interesting perspective, isn't it. And I
- 8:28Speaker 3: was like, okay, there was a method to his madness
- 8:31Speaker 3: instead of obsessing over it exactly and over analyzing and
- 8:37Speaker 3: you know, not even finding yourself in it. So that
- 8:41Speaker 3: process really helped me think more like an artist again
- 8:46Speaker 3: for the first time, and I decided I would trust
- 8:51Speaker 3: my instincts for myself. I do it for all the
- 8:55Speaker 3: other people that I work with. That's why they get
- 8:57Speaker 3: the call, because they know I can deliver. But as
- 8:59Speaker 3: a song little artists, I hadn't had to use that
- 9:02Speaker 3: in a while, and so that gave me an opportunity
- 9:05Speaker 3: to to say, yes, I'm ready to do that again,
- 9:09Speaker 3: A ready to trust my artistry, just trust my instincts.
- 9:14Speaker 3: And that was the first step. Trust your voice, trust
- 9:18Speaker 3: my voice. Yeah, well, I don't get you know. I
- 9:20Speaker 3: always made a living with my voice, so I never
- 9:22Speaker 3: worried about that. But as you know, being out front,
- 9:25Speaker 3: it takes a whole other mental challenge.
- 9:29Speaker 4: It's speaking of mental challenges, you know, it's it's hard
- 9:34Speaker 4: enough being on live TV with the Voice. And I'm
- 9:37Speaker 4: sure a lot of people know the time in the
- 9:41Speaker 4: show when you fell on stage and you.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Broke your elbow right yeah, yeah.
- 9:45Speaker 4: What was it like having to go right on TV
- 9:49Speaker 4: right after that after falling on stage? How did you
- 9:52Speaker 4: overcome that or how did you deal with that?
- 9:54Speaker 3: At least well, going on the Voice after everything that
- 9:58Speaker 3: I've done was a big decision. And this was post COVID,
- 10:02Speaker 3: so we weren't sure we would ever get a chance
- 10:04Speaker 3: to be in a place where you got other people
- 10:08Speaker 3: sitting there with our mask on. So I said, when
- 10:11Speaker 3: the world opens back up, you know what am I
- 10:14Speaker 3: going to do? And so I decided that I needed television? Okay,
- 10:18Speaker 3: what can I stomach? Because everything is real? How I
- 10:21Speaker 3: need TV? And I'm from the era that you don't
- 10:24Speaker 3: talk about yourself at all. If you don't boast, you
- 10:28Speaker 3: don't brag. And so I was like, Okay, I need TV.
- 10:32Speaker 3: It's obvious because I don't have a team, I don't
- 10:35Speaker 3: have a label, agent, management, I don't have a machine,
- 10:39Speaker 3: and so I decided I was going to send a
- 10:42Speaker 3: video in to the voice. I didn't tell anyone, and
- 10:46Speaker 3: I said, if they accept me, then I know that's
- 10:50Speaker 3: the path I need to take. If they don't because
- 10:53Speaker 3: I got way too much experience, then I will have
- 10:57Speaker 3: to find another way to make a living. And sure
- 11:01Speaker 3: enough it took a few months. So I didn't even
- 11:04Speaker 3: tell David Well, my significant other for third one, Geers.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I didn't even tell him that I set the video
- 11:11Speaker 3: in because I knew what he was gonna say. He
- 11:14Speaker 3: was gonna say, why are you doing that? That can't
- 11:16Speaker 3: teach you anything? But I knew I had nothing else nothing,
- 11:20Speaker 3: So I sent the video in and I said, I'll
- 11:23Speaker 3: just keep it to myself because then if they reject
- 11:27Speaker 3: me for whatever reason, too much experience, whatever, then I
- 11:32Speaker 3: can live with that. Nobody will be like I thought
- 11:35Speaker 3: you were gonna be on the ball, and I was like,
- 11:38Speaker 3: I don't want to live with that. So I set
- 11:43Speaker 3: that video in I and once they said yes, then
- 11:46Speaker 3: I had to figure out my purpose, like what to
- 11:50Speaker 3: expect out of this. And I needed to number one,
- 11:53Speaker 3: know if I was still competitive, if it still mattered.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Number Two, I needed to know if there were people
- 11:58Speaker 3: that still liked the type of song I loved singing.
- 12:01Speaker 3: And then number three was I had to I wanted
- 12:06Speaker 3: to be an advocate for people over fifty to say
- 12:08Speaker 3: that we still have dreams and have things that we
- 12:11Speaker 3: want to do and say so I needed to get
- 12:13Speaker 3: those things answered me on a reasonable doubt because I
- 12:17Speaker 3: knew wats the show was over. I'm gonna be on
- 12:19Speaker 3: my own again, but I'll have what I need. So
- 12:24Speaker 3: when I got on the show, I just left my
- 12:27Speaker 3: ego at the house. I said, I'm just gonna pay
- 12:29Speaker 3: attention to the challenge of the week, and I should
- 12:32Speaker 3: go far, because if I think about all my experience,
- 12:36Speaker 3: it's just gonna make everybody miserable, and I'm gonna be
- 12:39Speaker 3: miserable too, because like, come here, we're doing it this
- 12:41Speaker 3: way and not that way. So I got rid of
- 12:43Speaker 3: all of that comes treatum the challenge of the week.
- 12:47Speaker 3: So when I did fall, I got this three weeks
- 12:51Speaker 3: before the finale. I had just turned fifty seven on
- 12:56Speaker 3: the show, So that was November my birthday, twenty second,
- 13:02Speaker 3: twenty twenty one. I turned fifty seven on the show.
- 13:06Speaker 3: The next day, I fed, oh, why TV five sixty
- 13:11Speaker 3: eight million people. So when I fell, there was only
- 13:17Speaker 3: two other people on team Blake left because we're three
- 13:20Speaker 3: weeks from the Fanala and the Gentleman Paris. He was
- 13:24Speaker 3: also on Blake's team, but he had been in the army.
- 13:27Speaker 3: And nobody was picking me up off the ground. Oh,
- 13:31Speaker 3: none of the crew, nobody. They were all in shock.
- 13:35Speaker 3: And then I heard him say, Wendy, I'm going to
- 13:38Speaker 3: pick you up because I couldn't get up. They were
- 13:40Speaker 3: all waiting on me to get up and I didn't
- 13:42Speaker 3: get up. I said okay, So he reached under my
- 13:44Speaker 3: arms and then he got me up. But he was
- 13:46Speaker 3: the only one. Nobody else touched me. Everybody was like,
- 13:49Speaker 3: LetGo we ate the ground and so you got me up,
- 13:52Speaker 3: and I was like okay. I looked over and I
- 13:54Speaker 3: realized I'm injured, Like, oh my god, that's what a
- 13:56Speaker 3: break looks like. Because I've never been injured before. I
- 14:00Speaker 3: didn't cry. Got me up. They cut to commercial, took
- 14:04Speaker 3: me off to the stage and had me sit down,
- 14:05Speaker 3: and still wasn't crying yet or anything. I never cried,
- 14:08Speaker 3: and they said can you come back out there? And
- 14:11Speaker 3: I knew why because they having a Live TV. I'm
- 14:16Speaker 3: sure the network was going crazy. I'm sure the producers
- 14:19Speaker 3: of the show were going crazy. They're like what and
- 14:22Speaker 3: I'm a true professional. Yeah, they were like even cursing day.
- 14:26Speaker 3: It's like everybody was like, are our lives gonna changed before?
- 14:30Speaker 3: You know? So I was just like, so I went
- 14:33Speaker 3: off to the side. I still hadn't cried, and can
- 14:35Speaker 3: you come back on? So I said yes, And mainly
- 14:38Speaker 3: because my family, I want people to know that I
- 14:41Speaker 3: was injured but not life threatening. Yeah, so I said yeah,
- 14:45Speaker 3: and I'm sure to help that work and all that
- 14:47Speaker 3: stuff too. And so I ended up going to the
- 14:50Speaker 3: hospital and you know, the show was still going on.
- 14:55Speaker 3: And then it took me about three hours before I
- 14:58Speaker 3: saw a doctor. Me in a room, and I had
- 15:02Speaker 3: three phone calls while I was waiting to see a doctor.
- 15:05Speaker 3: One was vest Gill. He said, I just saw the fall.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Where are you. I said, I'm at the hospital. He
- 15:11Speaker 3: was like, okay, well you have to stay on the show.
- 15:14Speaker 3: I said, I don't know. I'm broken. I don't know
- 15:17Speaker 3: how broken. And he was like, well, he still wasn't registering.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Everybody thought because they saw me after the fall, they
- 15:24Speaker 3: thought I was okay. He's like, well, you have to
- 15:26Speaker 3: stay on the show. I said, okay. The second call
- 15:30Speaker 3: was Leslie Fram see him to us the fram She called,
- 15:34Speaker 3: I saw the fault. Where are you at the hospital?
- 15:36Speaker 3: And she said, you have to stay on the show.
- 15:38Speaker 3: So I got two successful people telling me that I
- 15:43Speaker 3: have to stay on the show. Dam and I'm like, okay,
- 15:46Speaker 3: well if the show lets me stay, because I'm thinking
- 15:48Speaker 3: that I'm on my way home, I'm thinking that it's over.
- 15:51Speaker 3: And then the third call was a friend, christ Klaus,
- 15:54Speaker 3: who used to be the CEO of Northwest Carolinas. So
- 15:58Speaker 3: he used the CEO and king too, and he called,
- 16:01Speaker 3: you have to stay on the show. Like okay, three
- 16:03Speaker 3: successful people say I have just said it's okay. So
- 16:06Speaker 3: finally I get to a room and of course they
- 16:09Speaker 3: have somebody with me. The voice people have somebody with me.
- 16:12Speaker 3: And then I asked the doctors finally like what's wrong? Okay?
- 16:16Speaker 3: You got two broken arms? This is completely broken my
- 16:19Speaker 3: elbow and this is broken mayfractured and broken pieces in here.
- 16:24Speaker 3: So I said, how long do I have before I
- 16:27Speaker 3: can't get this repair? And they were like, you got
- 16:30Speaker 3: three weeks. So a person I was like, when is
- 16:31Speaker 3: the finhale three weeks? I said, okay, I guess I'll
- 16:34Speaker 3: stay and then she was like really, and so she
- 16:36Speaker 3: was so, let me make some phone calls. They called
- 16:39Speaker 3: some people and they were like, hey, she wants you
- 16:41Speaker 3: to stay on the show. So we were like, okay,
- 16:46Speaker 3: I said, if they'll have me, because I didn't know
- 16:47Speaker 3: I was gonna have splints and I would be you know,
- 16:49Speaker 3: it's obvious that my arms are like this. I didn't
- 16:52Speaker 3: have that idea. I didn't I've never been injured. So
- 16:56Speaker 3: that night, by now we're like six o'clock in the morning,
- 16:59Speaker 3: around three pm, I checked out of the hotel, went
- 17:03Speaker 3: back on the set with you broken arms. And then
- 17:08Speaker 3: when I walked on the set, they had Blake on
- 17:11Speaker 3: a screen and he was talking to me and he
- 17:13Speaker 3: was like, man, break a leg, not your arms, and
- 17:18Speaker 3: I'm like, dude, I know, I know. So if I
- 17:22Speaker 3: hadn't had those phone calls, I don't think I wouldn't
- 17:24Speaker 3: I wouldn't have known them to keep going. I just
- 17:29Speaker 3: wouldn't have thought about it. I was I was thinking that, okay,
- 17:31Speaker 3: well this is it. And when I said, you know, well,
- 17:35Speaker 3: they let me stay on the show, they were like, yeah,
- 17:37Speaker 3: you can stand on the show, just don't fall again.
- 17:40Speaker 3: And I was like, you gotta worry about that. I'm
- 17:41Speaker 3: gonna be taking my time. But it was amazing that
- 17:47Speaker 3: fall was for me because it was like if I
- 17:49Speaker 3: can do that in front of all millions of people,
- 17:52Speaker 3: and it not phased me at all. Like I was
- 17:54Speaker 3: still singing, still being active, never complaining, never cried. I
- 17:57Speaker 3: still didn't cry. Even Blake talk about it a lot.
- 18:00Speaker 3: She don't even talk about it. But I'm like, if
- 18:02Speaker 3: I talk about it, you might as well just go home.
- 18:06Speaker 3: You know, nobody wants to hear it.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Yeah, you just want to keep going and focus on
- 18:10Speaker 4: your singings.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Focus on why I'm there. I was too close to
- 18:15Speaker 3: the finish line to just stop, and thank goodness, I
- 18:19Speaker 3: had those people in my life who said you have
- 18:22Speaker 3: to stay on the show, because I thought they would
- 18:24Speaker 3: even want me on the show. So when I talked
- 18:26Speaker 3: to the producers the next day, and you know, I'm
- 18:29Speaker 3: sure they told everybody, you know, don't talk or do
- 18:32Speaker 3: you know, do do too much because they don't know
- 18:34Speaker 3: I to beget sued or what. And I didn't go
- 18:36Speaker 3: down that process. I just didn't feel like going even
- 18:39Speaker 3: though my arm is crooked for life in my spirit,
- 18:43Speaker 3: It's just it wouldn't have passed. I just felt like
- 18:46Speaker 3: it would have been a waste of time. And I
- 18:49Speaker 3: don't know if I would have really reaped the benefits
- 18:52Speaker 3: that people would us assumed that I would. I just
- 18:55Speaker 3: I just didn't see. I saw that being like a
- 18:57Speaker 3: short lived type of thing where I lose instead of
- 19:00Speaker 3: on all of my life. Yeah.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's great that you embraced it, kept
- 19:04Speaker 4: going and you made it to runner up of the
- 19:07Speaker 4: season because you stayed on.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Yes, I loved it. I love the opportunity. And it
- 19:13Speaker 3: was for me that whole process of the three things
- 19:17Speaker 3: I needed to know to stay on the journey because
- 19:19Speaker 3: age is a factor, being a gender as a factor
- 19:22Speaker 3: in the music industry. Yeah, it's just this, And I said,
- 19:26Speaker 3: I need a way to get rid of all of
- 19:28Speaker 3: that noise in order to continue. And that's what happened
- 19:31Speaker 3: in the fall was the ice And it was like
- 19:34Speaker 3: you like have two broken arms on TV for three weeks.
- 19:38Speaker 3: You have everything going against you, but you're still gonna
- 19:41Speaker 3: do it that and just not you know, that not
- 19:46Speaker 3: being enough to stop anything. M h.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Yeah, And also, yeah, be persistent. Yes, yeah, yeah, thank
- 19:53Speaker 4: you for sharing them. I have a couple of questions left
- 19:56Speaker 4: for you, and I just feel fortunate to have gone
- 19:59Speaker 4: to know you through the past year through I'm behind
- 20:02Speaker 4: the lyrics and performing with you.
- 20:04Speaker 3: You know, I've gotten just.
- 20:06Speaker 4: You through so many different events like time Jumpers, Muscle
- 20:11Speaker 4: showals at the CMA Theater, Todd Rendering last April.
- 20:15Speaker 3: That and I know you performed.
- 20:17Speaker 4: Around the world, and I think I already know the
- 20:20Speaker 4: answer to this question, but do you have a favorite
- 20:23Speaker 4: moment or a place that you performed at.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Yes. My number one ultimate performance was in front of
- 20:30Speaker 3: the pyramids in Egypt when I was touring with Leioid
- 20:33Speaker 3: Glaciers because I was his duet partner. So I'm singing
- 20:37Speaker 3: duets with one of the most amazing singers in music history.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I am in front of the pyramids. Are right here,
- 20:44Speaker 3: This Finx is right here. We're singing love songs and
- 20:48Speaker 3: people have a tuxio and stars. It's like the Starry Night.
- 20:54Speaker 3: And so after we did our duet and he was like, Darling,
- 20:57Speaker 3: are you happy? And I was like, yes, I mean,
- 20:59Speaker 3: I'm dear en, I'm thinking about it. He said, yes,
- 21:02Speaker 3: and he's like, why are you happy?
- 21:04Speaker 2: You know?
- 21:05Speaker 3: All I could do was sparty. People started to clap,
- 21:07Speaker 3: but that was so like, I don't know, other worldly. Yeah, yeah,
- 21:12Speaker 3: that's amazing.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I always say you never know where music can take you,
- 21:15Speaker 4: and now music's definitely taken you a lot of places.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Do you have an idea where it's taking you next? No,
- 21:21Speaker 3: I just know to stay open and keep working at
- 21:24Speaker 3: it and keep believing in myself and me and kind
- 21:27Speaker 3: and nice and learning and being and having gratitude.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Well, last time you're on taking a walk in Nashville,
- 21:34Speaker 4: I asked you if you had a favorite place to walk.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I think you said downtown.
- 21:38Speaker 5: So this time I'm going to ask you, do you
- 21:40Speaker 5: have a favorite place in Nashville, like a favorite restaurant
- 21:44Speaker 5: or a place to eat?
- 21:45Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, yes I do. I love Princess Chicken,
- 21:50Speaker 3: the one off of Old Eir Grey Boulevard and Noah's
- 21:53Speaker 3: Phil because I love that chicken hot chicken, Medium, and
- 21:57Speaker 3: I love mac and cheese and green.
- 21:59Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, I was going to ask the spice a
- 22:01Speaker 4: little again, Medium, but I want the reviews and I
- 22:05Speaker 4: want the mac and cheese. Yeah, even medium can be
- 22:08Speaker 4: pretty hot there you he can handle it though.
- 22:11Speaker 3: That job all the way from spring Hill, get it? Wow? Yeah? Nice,
- 22:15Speaker 3: that's all you know. It's good.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Yes, well, Wendy, thank you so much for being on
