- 0:01Speaker 1: Now on the Voice of New York. He's the Mark
- 0:04Speaker 1: Simone Show on seven tenor Hey, it's spring. It's the
- 0:11Speaker 1: first day of spring. How do you like that? Winter
- 0:14Speaker 1: is gone? It's over. It's spring today. It's also Friday.
- 0:18Speaker 1: A lot to talk about. We'll give you all the
- 0:19Speaker 1: latest on Iran. We'll give you a complete update on
- 0:22Speaker 1: the war. We'll get to the bachelorete who should get
- 0:25Speaker 1: fired over that mess. We'll get to CBS, speaking of firing,
- 0:28Speaker 1: they're laying off a lot of people today. We'll get
- 0:32Speaker 1: to crazy Kathy Hochel. We'll get to a crazy mayor, mom,
- 0:36Speaker 1: Donny's looney wife. We'll get to Bob Barker, We'll get
- 0:40Speaker 1: to Chuck Schumer, and a whole lot more coming up.
- 0:45Speaker 1: So Iran, Well, hey, we killed last night in one
- 0:49Speaker 1: of our strikes. Well I think it is Israel actually,
- 0:52Speaker 1: but we killed the spokesperson, the spokesman for the Iran
- 0:57Speaker 1: Revolutionary Guard. It's not exactly the safest job to have
- 1:02Speaker 1: right now, the spokesman for the Revolutionary Guard. He was
- 1:05Speaker 1: killed last night, blown up. The war continues. The USS Tripoli,
- 1:11Speaker 1: a very serious warship, is heading to Iran right now,
- 1:15Speaker 1: along with some other assets, you know. I'm sure Iran
- 1:19Speaker 1: knows this, and then they know things are going to
- 1:21Speaker 1: escalate seriously when this stuff gets there, the stuff heading
- 1:25Speaker 1: their amphibious crafts that Tripoli can do very very close
- 1:30Speaker 1: up work with small planes, helicopters probably be used to
- 1:34Speaker 1: take out drones, all that sort of stuff. And it
- 1:38Speaker 1: will be a big help in opening the Straits of
- 1:40Speaker 1: horn Moose, which will open in a couple of weeks.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It'll be open. It's about thirty nine ships a day,
- 1:45Speaker 1: tankers thirty nine tankers a day that come out of
- 1:49Speaker 1: the Straits of horn Moose. It doesn't affect us much
- 1:51Speaker 1: because we don't use that oil, but it affects worldwide prices.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So you'll see a lot of action when the ship
- 2:01Speaker 1: gets there. So the next two weeks you'll probably see
- 2:04Speaker 1: just everything wiped out and pretty much the end of
- 2:07Speaker 1: all the offensive assets of Iran, and then things will
- 2:11Speaker 1: be different. Then you may see a boot on the
- 2:14Speaker 1: ground for a little for a few minutes here and there,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and then it should be the mop up and clean
- 2:19Speaker 1: up of all that. Now we are talking to Iran.
- 2:23Speaker 1: US officials and Iranian officials are in talks back channel
- 2:27Speaker 1: talks are taking place. But also we're talking with people
- 2:32Speaker 1: on the ground in Iran, possible opposition people they want
- 2:37Speaker 1: to revolt against this government, people that might take over.
- 2:40Speaker 1: We have people in the intelligence community talking to them.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So things are progressing. President wants two hundred billion dollars
- 2:49Speaker 1: in funding for the Iraq effort. Congress doesn't want to
- 2:53Speaker 1: give it to them. Of course, Democrats and some Republicans
- 2:56Speaker 1: yelling and screaming about that. We don't really need two
- 2:58Speaker 1: hundred billion. To cost about two billion a day, and
- 3:02Speaker 1: it's not expected to go another one hundred days. But
- 3:04Speaker 1: the reason they want a big amount is they want
- 3:08Speaker 1: all the money right now. They don't have to go
- 3:09Speaker 1: back and ask for more money during the summer or
- 3:12Speaker 1: the fall, because that's when the midterms take place. It
- 3:14Speaker 1: will look bad to be asking for more money then.
- 3:17Speaker 1: So that's why they're asking for a huge amount now.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Democrats know that, and that's why they're negotiating. They want
- 3:23Speaker 1: to give it, give you a little now, you have
- 3:26Speaker 1: to keep coming back for more because they want that
- 3:28Speaker 1: to happen during the midterm race Trump having to ask
- 3:32Speaker 1: for more money. So yesterday the Japanese Prime Minister is
- 3:37Speaker 1: visiting the White House. And you have to remember the
- 3:40Speaker 1: fake news. The Democrats, the media have one mission, and
- 3:45Speaker 1: that is to just wipe out Trump, make him look bad.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Whatever he does is horrendo us. Anything he does is awful.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Even when it comes to US at war. They'll take
- 3:56Speaker 1: the other side. They'll hope it goes badly. They'll hope
- 3:59Speaker 1: it's a disaster. They'll hope we screw up because it'll
- 4:01Speaker 1: make Trump look bad. Anything to make Trump look bad.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And then they create this fake narrative. They broadcast the
- 4:10Speaker 1: fake narrative. It usually starts with the New York Times
- 4:12Speaker 1: of the Washington Post, and then all the TV and
- 4:15Speaker 1: all the websites pick it up, and then all the
- 4:17Speaker 1: sheep out there start repeating it. You know, when the
- 4:20Speaker 1: Iran war started, a New York Times, a violation of
- 4:24Speaker 1: international law, and then that's all you heard. It's a
- 4:28Speaker 1: total violation of international law. And then all the sheep
- 4:32Speaker 1: are running around violated international law. Nobody ever bothered to
- 4:36Speaker 1: tell them. There's no such thing as international law. It
- 4:40Speaker 1: doesn't exist anywhere. I guess you could look at court
- 4:42Speaker 1: decisions around the world, but it doesn't affect us. It
- 4:46Speaker 1: has no standing. I mean, it doesn't. There is no
- 4:49Speaker 1: international law that we have to follow. We follow only
- 4:53Speaker 1: But don't tell them that. Then even if you did
- 4:55Speaker 1: to tell them, they won't believe you. So the current
- 5:00Speaker 1: what if you're going to hear for the next day
- 5:01Speaker 1: or two, you'll see it on the Sunday shows. Was
- 5:03Speaker 1: the Trump seriously offended the Japanese Prime minister. He said
- 5:09Speaker 1: something so outrageous to her. The Japanese prime minister, by
- 5:14Speaker 1: the way, loves him, loves him. And you'll notice you're
- 5:18Speaker 1: not supposed to do this. She kept calling them Donald
- 5:20Speaker 1: in the meeting, in front of the press, all the
- 5:22Speaker 1: press there. Even if you're his closest friend on earth,
- 5:25Speaker 1: you call him mister president in public. Maybe in private,
- 5:28Speaker 1: he'll tell you, in private, call me Donald, But in
- 5:31Speaker 1: public you say mister President. But she kept saying Donald.
- 5:33Speaker 1: And she was doing that deliberately because President Trump is
- 5:36Speaker 1: loved in Japan. She's the new president, and she wants
- 5:41Speaker 1: the population, the public of Japan to see that she
- 5:44Speaker 1: has a good relationship with him. That's very important for her.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So she kept calling him Donald. And even the interpreter's
- 5:50Speaker 1: giving her a look like you want me to say Donald,
- 5:52Speaker 1: But he said Donald, So this is the line. This
- 5:56Speaker 1: is the fake news went crazy with the sheep, will
- 6:00Speaker 1: all go crazy. Repeating this, the reporter asks about the
- 6:04Speaker 1: attack in Iran, it's kind of a dumb question. Why
- 6:08Speaker 1: did you make it a surprise. Why didn't you tell
- 6:10Speaker 1: your allies? Well, first of all, we can't trust these
- 6:12Speaker 1: allies right now, and you have to keep it a surprise.
- 6:15Speaker 1: The attack on Iran, the first wave, the whole the
- 6:19Speaker 1: secret of it was the surprise, because that's how we
- 6:22Speaker 1: took out the Ayatola and the top forty leaders all
- 6:25Speaker 1: at once. They had no idea attack was coming, so
- 6:29Speaker 1: they actually held a meeting out in the open. They
- 6:32Speaker 1: all got together in one building and met, and that's
- 6:35Speaker 1: where we blew them all up and got the Ayatola.
- 6:38Speaker 1: If you had told the allies, they would have leaked
- 6:40Speaker 1: it to somebody and there never would have been that meeting,
- 6:43Speaker 1: So we never would have gotten the Ayatola and forty
- 6:45Speaker 1: one leaders the first day. But the reporter asked him,
- 6:48Speaker 1: why did you keep it a secret?
- 6:49Speaker 2: One thing you don't want to signal too much, you know,
- 6:52Speaker 2: when we go in, we went in very hard, and
- 6:54Speaker 2: we didn't tell anybody about it because we wanted surprise.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Who knows better about surprise in Japan? Hey, why didn't
- 7:03Speaker 2: you tell me about Pearl Harbor? Okay, right, he's asking me,
- 7:10Speaker 2: do you believe in surprise? I think much more so
- 7:13Speaker 2: than us.
- 7:14Speaker 1: All right, now, you're gonna see this on the Sunday shows.
- 7:16Speaker 1: You see this all over the fig and it was
- 7:17Speaker 1: outrageously How dare he say something like, well, okay, you're
- 7:20Speaker 1: not supposed to if you're the president. I mean, you
- 7:23Speaker 1: can't picture Bush Obama, anybody making a Pearl Harbor joke
- 7:27Speaker 1: in front of the Japanese Prime minister. You're not supposed
- 7:31Speaker 1: to do it. But he's not. Trump's not a politician.
- 7:33Speaker 1: He's not a politician. He's a real regular guy and
- 7:38Speaker 1: he's got a good Don Rickles side to him. And
- 7:40Speaker 1: people love it. And actually, there's some people that are
- 7:44Speaker 1: never gonna like Trump. They want a traditional politician. They
- 7:47Speaker 1: like the formality of a professional politician. They don't want
- 7:52Speaker 1: a real guy from real life coming into government talking
- 7:55Speaker 1: like that. They don't want the Don Rickles stuff coming out.
- 7:58Speaker 1: But let's listen to that again. I think it was
- 7:59Speaker 1: a great moment. If you love Trump, this is one
- 8:01Speaker 1: of his finest moments.
- 8:02Speaker 2: One thing you don't want to signal too much. You know,
- 8:05Speaker 2: when we go in, we went in very hard and
- 8:08Speaker 2: we didn't tell anybody about it because we wanted surprise.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Okayy, why didn't
- 8:16Speaker 2: you tell me about Pearl Harbor? Okay, right, he's askab
- 8:23Speaker 2: do you believe in surprise? I think much more so
- 8:27Speaker 2: than us.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, I know you're not supposed to do
- 8:30Speaker 1: that if you're a present, but it's great. It's a
- 8:31Speaker 1: great moment, and it's absolutely true, and we have a
- 8:35Speaker 1: right to make Pearl Harbor jokes if we if we
- 8:37Speaker 1: want to. Hey, as I said, over there at CBS,
- 8:40Speaker 1: they're going to lay off a lot of people today
- 8:42Speaker 1: six percent of the news force work force, six percent
- 8:46Speaker 1: will be laid off today right over there in the
- 8:48Speaker 1: fifty seventh Street. They think the total will reach fifteen
- 8:51Speaker 1: percent in the coming weeks. It's they describe it as
- 8:55Speaker 1: an industry shift. Well, yeah, a lot of people work
- 8:59Speaker 1: in these places. I mean ton of people. You know,
- 9:00Speaker 1: in the good old days, if you were CBS Nightly
- 9:03Speaker 1: News you had eight nine million viewers. Primetime you had
- 9:07Speaker 1: twenty million viewers. Morning show you had five six million viewers.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It's a different world now. Nightly News three and a
- 9:15Speaker 1: half million viewers. Prime Time maybe six million viewers, Morning
- 9:19Speaker 1: show maybe one and a half, maybe one million. You
- 9:22Speaker 1: don't have the audience anymore. And when the audience drops
- 9:26Speaker 1: by like seventy five percent, so do the advertising rates
- 9:29Speaker 1: that the sponsor pays. And then your revenue is less.
- 9:33Speaker 1: And if your revenue is a lot less, you got
- 9:35Speaker 1: to cut your workforce. If you had eight thousand people
- 9:38Speaker 1: working there, you got to cut it to four thousand
- 9:40Speaker 1: or something like that. So that's what's going on, as
- 9:42Speaker 1: the new CBS News president says, it's industry wide, an
- 9:46Speaker 1: industry shift. It'll go on at all the different networks,
- 9:50Speaker 1: and it's got to happen. Gotta happen. So the Bachelourette
- 9:59Speaker 1: on AB, they know you had The Bachelor, the Bachelorette,
- 10:04Speaker 1: so they do a whole season at once before it
- 10:07Speaker 1: even starts airing, kind of like The Apprentice. They film
- 10:10Speaker 1: the whole season and then they air it. The only
- 10:13Speaker 1: thing they say for the end is the final where
- 10:16Speaker 1: they choose the person that's got to be live. But
- 10:20Speaker 1: when you film the whole season, it's about two million
- 10:22Speaker 1: dollars an episode, believe it or not. To do the
- 10:24Speaker 1: Bachelorette two million an episode. I think they had four
- 10:27Speaker 1: or five ready to go fully edited, and more in
- 10:31Speaker 1: the works. But the whole season can cost let's say
- 10:35Speaker 1: thirty thirty five million, some even say fifty but figure
- 10:38Speaker 1: thirty five million to produce the season. So they picked
- 10:42Speaker 1: the Bachelorette, They filmed the whole thing with her, spend
- 10:45Speaker 1: all these millions. Then the video comes out of her
- 10:48Speaker 1: a few years ago. It turns out she's guilty of
- 10:52Speaker 1: serious domestic abuse and pleaded guilty and felony convictions. She
- 10:59Speaker 1: got probation, but the video comes out where she's with
- 11:04Speaker 1: the husband and their little little daughter is right there
- 11:06Speaker 1: two feet away, and she's screaming and cursing and fighting
- 11:10Speaker 1: and kicking with the husband, and then she picks up
- 11:13Speaker 1: a chair to whack them with the chair. I mean,
- 11:15Speaker 1: this is like Richie a Prio and ABC didn't know
- 11:20Speaker 1: about it. So because of this, because of this, they've
- 11:24Speaker 1: canceled the whole season. They're going to just throw it
- 11:26Speaker 1: away and not use it. Now, what would you do
- 11:28Speaker 1: if you were ABC? I don't know. I'd still watch it.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I think, you know, it's terrible, but I'd watch it.
- 11:37Speaker 1: In fact, if they're smart, they'll put it out somewhere
- 11:40Speaker 1: on YouTube or something or just let people see it.
- 11:43Speaker 1: But now the real question, somebody's gonna get fired over this,
- 11:47Speaker 1: because when you hire people, he's supposed to do a
- 11:50Speaker 1: background check. You know, every major corporation when they hire people,
- 11:55Speaker 1: they got a whole company. That's what they do. Some
- 11:57Speaker 1: security company, detective atings some of you just give them
- 12:01Speaker 1: the names. They check everybody out for you see if
- 12:03Speaker 1: there's anything in their past. You know, they find out something,
- 12:06Speaker 1: oh you know to suspend the driver's license. Oh go
- 12:09Speaker 1: check what that was all about. Or they have a
- 12:10Speaker 1: drinking problem, you know, stuff like that. And if you
- 12:13Speaker 1: have a felony conviction, domestic abuse, in fact, you've got
- 12:17Speaker 1: a few felonies and been arrested a few times, that
- 12:20Speaker 1: shows up on a background check. So if you're going
- 12:22Speaker 1: to spend thirty five million shooting this whole season, before
- 12:26Speaker 1: you risk the money, you think you do a background
- 12:29Speaker 1: check on your bachelorette. Somebody didn't do it. It's a
- 12:32Speaker 1: shock to me that before they'd commit to spend all
- 12:36Speaker 1: that money on one person they would have a background
- 12:38Speaker 1: check done, and so they didn't do it. So I
- 12:40Speaker 1: would imagine somewhere at the top, somebody's getting fired.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Now.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Usually those shows, and I actually don't know about the Bachelotte,
- 12:47Speaker 1: usually produced by a company who pays all this and
- 12:50Speaker 1: then they sell it to ABC. But usually ABC has
- 12:53Speaker 1: to kick in part of the financing. So whoever didn't
- 12:57Speaker 1: do that background check, don't be surprised if they get
- 12:59Speaker 1: fired over this, because it is a stupid thing. Hey,
- 13:02Speaker 1: I loved Bob Barker the Price is Right. I didn't
- 13:06Speaker 1: know him that well, but he was a guest on
- 13:07Speaker 1: the show all the time, and I hung out with
- 13:09Speaker 1: him a future. This was the greatest guy, this wonderful, warm,
- 13:13Speaker 1: sweet guy. And now all this stuff is coming out.
- 13:17Speaker 1: One of you remember they had always had three beautiful
- 13:19Speaker 1: models on the prices, right, And you know, if you're
- 13:22Speaker 1: a little kid watching that, you like those. I like that,
- 13:24Speaker 1: Diane Parkinson, I like the other one. But turns out
- 13:28Speaker 1: Bob Barker on one of them, writes a book on
- 13:31Speaker 1: how awful he was and behind the scenes all the
- 13:33Speaker 1: terrible things going on. And then apparently there's a new
- 13:36Speaker 1: documentary coming out that shows him, and well it was.
- 13:39Speaker 1: It became pretty well known he and Diane Parkinson had
- 13:42Speaker 1: an affair. Okay, I think Barker's wife had died, but
- 13:49Speaker 1: now the other one is saying it wasn't It was
- 13:51Speaker 1: more than an a fair. It was really annoying because
- 13:54Speaker 1: she described it as dressing room sex in between tween shows.
- 14:00Speaker 1: You know, they tape like four or five shows in
- 14:02Speaker 1: a day, but listen, that goes on all the time,
- 14:05Speaker 1: all the time, trying not to see. I can't mention it,
- 14:11Speaker 1: should I mention any names. I don't know what it was.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I think Rodney, somebody named Rodney. I won't say which Rodney,
- 14:18Speaker 1: but a guy named Rodney was appearing at a big
- 14:20Speaker 1: venue and the agent was set the checkout sent to
- 14:23Speaker 1: check the venue over and Rodney said, hey, make sure
- 14:26Speaker 1: there's a bed in the dressing room. And he called Rodney.
- 14:30Speaker 1: He said, yeah, I got a bed in the dressing room.
- 14:32Speaker 1: The only problem is right next to the kitchen, a
- 14:35Speaker 1: lot of noise. And Rodney said, I don't care. I'm
- 14:38Speaker 1: not gonna be sleeping in that bed. So well, it
- 14:41Speaker 1: goes on all the time. It's pretty common, so but
- 14:43Speaker 1: I hate to see Bob Barker go through all of that. Hey, hey,
- 14:47Speaker 1: we did our big event last night, our big networking
- 14:50Speaker 1: CEO event, and I have we don't have all the
- 14:54Speaker 1: pictures yet to put up online. But it was at
- 14:57Speaker 1: a beautiful venue, two Park Avenue. It's this office building
- 15:01Speaker 1: thirty second in part absolutely magnificent. They got the most
- 15:04Speaker 1: beautiful venue on the top floor, big rooftop venue, spectacular
- 15:09Speaker 1: the way it looks. It's phenomenal for a networking event
- 15:14Speaker 1: or any kind of event you want to throw there.
- 15:16Speaker 1: But it also has this outdoor terrace that's spectacular. In fact,
- 15:19Speaker 1: check my Instagram you'll see a picture of me out
- 15:21Speaker 1: in the terrace there. Mark Simone NYC at Instagram. But
- 15:25Speaker 1: when we get all the pictures, we'll start posting. This
- 15:27Speaker 1: great event. Met a lot of great listeners there, and
- 15:29Speaker 1: a lot of our great advertisers and sponsors were there. Hey,
- 15:33Speaker 1: we'll take some calls. Next. Eight hundred three two one
- 15:36Speaker 1: zero seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two
- 15:40Speaker 1: one zero seven ten set up pre set on the
- 15:43Speaker 1: iHeartRadio app to doubor to hear Mark live.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Set another for Mark's podcast to hear him anytime.
- 15:51Speaker 5: Now back to Mark Simone on do woar.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Hey, we just found out Chuck Norris died. Chuck Norris dead.
- 15:59Speaker 1: It eighty six. Wow, he was eighty six. How the
- 16:03Speaker 1: hell did that happen? He was eighty six already. I
- 16:05Speaker 1: never heard anybody say a bad word about Chuck Norris. Anyway,
- 16:09Speaker 1: let's take some calls. Let's go to Dave in Chicago. Dave,
- 16:12Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 16:14Speaker 6: Good morning, Mark. I'm doing very well, Thank you, Mark.
- 16:17Speaker 6: This is shocking. Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders was kicked
- 16:22Speaker 6: out or asked to leave a restaurant for making it
- 16:25Speaker 6: staff uncomfortable with her security detail. They occupied two tables.
- 16:31Speaker 6: And what kills me is not only is she the
- 16:34Speaker 6: governor of the state, but I think this sort of
- 16:37Speaker 6: thing happened to her once before. Where's the respect?
- 16:41Speaker 1: Well, you're talking about Trump de arrangement syndrome. You're talking
- 16:44Speaker 1: about crazy, unhinged Democrats, left wing nuts, and I imagine
- 16:50Speaker 1: the restaurant a lot of younger workers was suffering severe
- 16:54Speaker 1: cases of Trump de arrangement syndrome. It happens. I mean, hey,
- 16:57Speaker 1: enjoy the fact that they're so angry and piled up
- 17:00Speaker 1: and so just fuming an unhinged You can get a
- 17:04Speaker 1: kick out of it. Now she is the governor. I
- 17:07Speaker 1: wouldn't be surprised if this restaurant gets visited by every
- 17:10Speaker 1: inspector in the world from that state. Let's go to
- 17:15Speaker 1: Michael on the east Side. Michael, how you doing, Mark?
- 17:19Speaker 3: Yeah, the event last night was spectacular.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Oh you were there?
- 17:24Speaker 3: Yeah, In fact, you and I took a picture under
- 17:28Speaker 3: the chandelier, I said, Michael east Side. And in any event,
- 17:36Speaker 3: I met people on your team. There quite a group of.
- 17:41Speaker 1: People, salespeople, management, a lot of SHELLEYE. Rome was there.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Curtis was there, Larry MENTI of course, yeah, heard Curtis.
- 17:51Speaker 3: But the way the way it is done was really
- 17:55Speaker 3: top notch. And that space that you have there, wow, well.
- 17:59Speaker 1: We don't have it. Building called to Park Avenue. It's
- 18:02Speaker 1: beautiful and they got the most beautiful.
- 18:04Speaker 3: That you used and everything was just gotten top notch.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Incredible people that I met there from your.
- 18:18Speaker 1: So thanks for coming, Thanks for being there last night.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Let's go to Mike and Florida. Mike, how you doing.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Good morning, Mark? Yes, Mike.
- 18:26Speaker 4: To amplify what Dave was saying earlier about Sarah, how
- 18:29Speaker 4: could be being booted out of another restaurant. You know
- 18:33Speaker 4: they have cont you know, well, mom Donnie's wife. Every
- 18:35Speaker 4: day there's another thing about her liking somebody getting their
- 18:38Speaker 4: head chopped off, and not a peep is said about it.
- 18:41Speaker 4: And he's no bargain himself with some of the stuff
- 18:44Speaker 4: he said in the past. But Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who
- 18:47Speaker 4: couldn't be, you know, the most pleasant person on the
- 18:49Speaker 4: face of the earth, and she can't go out to
- 18:51Speaker 4: eat with her family. And it's astonishing that it's allowed,
- 18:55Speaker 4: and that nobody on the right side of the aisle
- 18:58Speaker 4: ever speaks out about it.
- 18:59Speaker 1: The city Lee vociferously look at the words discuss us
- 19:03Speaker 1: and vaciferously, whoa, he's going the multi syllabic on us here. Well,
- 19:08Speaker 1: all right, let's check back in about a month and
- 19:10Speaker 1: see what the condition to that restaurant is. Let's see
- 19:13Speaker 1: if it's either closed, gone, everybody's fired, or they've got
- 19:17Speaker 1: ten thousand violations from inspectors. Let's check out. I'd love
- 19:21Speaker 1: to see it. All right, thanks for calling. Let's go
- 19:23Speaker 1: to Joe in Elmwood Park. Joe, how you doing, Good morning, Mark,
- 19:28Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 19:30Speaker 6: Isn't it a coincidence that New Jersey is one of the.
- 19:33Speaker 5: States that doesn't want to open up their voting your
- 19:35Speaker 5: registration books.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Yea. The fraud, well, hey, fraud is one of the
- 19:41Speaker 1: main industry of New Jersey. Listen, everybody there will admit
- 19:46Speaker 1: fraud every inch of government fraud, every inch of everything
- 19:49Speaker 1: in the public stuff in New Jersey.
- 19:52Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's how we got our clown.
- 19:54Speaker 6: Like New York got the hoceal, we got our clown
- 19:57Speaker 6: over here.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you got a pretty silly well. Although, oh, if
- 20:01Speaker 1: I had to copy off somebody's test paper, i'd pick
- 20:03Speaker 1: your governor. I think she's got a few IQ points
- 20:06Speaker 1: on Huckel. But we'll get to Hokele in the next hour.
- 20:09Speaker 1: She's in a lot of heat virally all over the
- 20:12Speaker 1: internet for she just totally contradicted herself. You know, these
- 20:17Speaker 1: Democrats sometimes they don't realize they're admitting how stupid they were.
- 20:20Speaker 1: We'll get to that in the next hour. Schumer, same thing.
- 20:22Speaker 1: But when we come back to one of the greatest
- 20:25Speaker 1: economists business writers, John Carney, Now he'll give us the
- 20:29Speaker 1: real story on oil prices. What's gonna happen with oil prices.
- 20:32Speaker 1: We'll get to that. We'll get to inflation we'll get
- 20:34Speaker 1: to the economy, the real state of the economy coming
- 20:37Speaker 1: up next on seven to ten. WR.
- 20:40Speaker 5: Let's get back to the Mark Simone Show on wor Well.
- 20:45Speaker 1: John Carney, the brilliant business editor Breitbart Business Digest. You know,
- 20:50Speaker 1: the top economists in the world, a lot of the
- 20:54Speaker 1: business comunity. They subscribe to the bright Bart Business Digest.
- 20:57Speaker 1: You should too. It's great stuff every day. Just go
- 20:59Speaker 1: to right part and then go to newsletters and subscribe.
- 21:03Speaker 1: It's free. Just subscribe to the bright Part Business Digest.
- 21:06Speaker 1: You can read John Carney there every day. John Carney,
- 21:09Speaker 1: how you doing? Bring me back on Hey, great to
- 21:15Speaker 1: have you. Hey. Now tell us about oil. Saud East
- 21:18Speaker 1: are saying, I go to one eighty of it. People
- 21:21Speaker 1: all upset. It's at one oh five, it's one ten.
- 21:23Speaker 1: This is all just temporary, isn't it.
- 21:26Speaker 5: It is temporary. But the problem is nobody knows how
- 21:31Speaker 5: long the temporary lasts.
- 21:36Speaker 6: Actually, in some.
- 21:36Speaker 5: Ways, if it was seen as longer, we would actually
- 21:40Speaker 5: get more US investment in oil that would then help
- 21:43Speaker 5: bring the oil price down. They always say the cure
- 21:48Speaker 5: for high prices is high prices because it brings on
- 21:51Speaker 5: more supply. Here that's unfortunately not going to happen because
- 21:57Speaker 5: the high prices are being caused by the bottleneck at
- 22:01Speaker 5: the straight of her moves, and so nobody's going to
- 22:05Speaker 5: invest in new production in the US because that they
- 22:10Speaker 5: expect that to be cleared up. The real problem, though,
- 22:13Speaker 5: is when if we have oil at one hundred and
- 22:17Speaker 5: ten dollars a barrel, gasoline at around four dollars a
- 22:21Speaker 5: gallon for a week or two, we're okay. If it
- 22:25Speaker 5: persists at that level or goes even higher, the saudis
- 22:29Speaker 5: talking about one hundred and eighty dollars a barrel. That
- 22:33Speaker 5: will be very bad for the economy, not because it
- 22:36Speaker 5: will cause inflation, but because it will actually cost the opposite,
- 22:40Speaker 5: an economic contraction. Every dollar extra a gallon that you
- 22:46Speaker 5: have to put into your car is a dollar less
- 22:49Speaker 5: that you have to spend on the other goods and
- 22:52Speaker 5: services that you buy.
- 22:53Speaker 1: For your house, your family.
- 22:56Speaker 5: So gas says a tax, slow down the economy, And
- 23:02Speaker 5: the real question is just duration. Persistence one hundred and
- 23:06Speaker 5: ten dollars for a couple of days, we're fined for
- 23:08Speaker 5: a couple months, it will slow the economy.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Yeah, now there's things the president can do release oil
- 23:14Speaker 1: from the strategic reserve. He can turn up some spigots somewhere.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Right there's things we can do if we have to.
- 23:20Speaker 5: There are some things we can do, but it's actually
- 23:24Speaker 5: much more limited than people think. We can use the
- 23:29Speaker 5: Strategic Controlling Reserve, but the problem is we actually have
- 23:32Speaker 5: a lot of supply in the US right now. We
- 23:36Speaker 5: can The President suspended the Jones Act, which controls what
- 23:39Speaker 5: kind of ships can move oil from the Gulf Coast
- 23:42Speaker 5: up the East Coast. That'll help a little bit, but
- 23:47Speaker 5: there's not a lot he can do because oil price
- 23:51Speaker 5: is not just on what's available right now, but what
- 23:54Speaker 5: people expect to be available in the future. Your reserves
- 23:58Speaker 5: have an endpoint to that. Again, if this ends quickly,
- 24:03Speaker 5: you probably can use the reserves to hold down prices
- 24:05Speaker 5: from going up. If it keeps going, you can.
- 24:09Speaker 1: So let's say two weeks and six days from now
- 24:11Speaker 1: they reopen the straits of horn Moose, thirty forty tankers
- 24:15Speaker 1: a day are coming through. Then how long before the
- 24:17Speaker 1: price comes down.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Well they always say that, particularly gasoline prices, that they
- 24:25Speaker 5: rise like a rocket and fall like a feather. There's
- 24:30Speaker 5: good reason for that, in that the gas station owners
- 24:33Speaker 5: are nervous about dropping the price down too far, too quickly,
- 24:39Speaker 5: because they're always thinking not of how much did I
- 24:43Speaker 5: pay for this gas, but how much will I have
- 24:45Speaker 5: to pay for my next tanker full of gas that
- 24:49Speaker 5: I have to fill up. You have to have make
- 24:50Speaker 5: enough money to be able to fill up the next tanker.
- 24:53Speaker 5: So it'll take some time for gasoline prices to come down.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Oil prices, though, will go down right away. I think
- 25:00Speaker 5: as long as people are confident that you know that
- 25:02Speaker 5: it's open, that it's going to stay open, we will
- 25:05Speaker 5: see a pretty dramatic decline in the price of oil,
- 25:09Speaker 5: and then gas will take a little longer to come down,
- 25:12Speaker 5: but not much. In pretty short order, we'll see the
- 25:16Speaker 5: prices start to decline, particularly if they get it done
- 25:19Speaker 5: quickly and get it done plausibly.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:22Speaker 5: It can't just be, you know, something that where people
- 25:24Speaker 5: think it is, you know, we got a couple of
- 25:27Speaker 5: tankers through. It has to be that this twenty percent
- 25:31Speaker 5: of the world's oil supply that comes through there that
- 25:34Speaker 5: we expected to remain open for the foreseeable future.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Yeah, now, John Carney, whenever the price drops dramatically, like
- 25:42Speaker 1: under the first year of President Trump, it doesn't seem
- 25:44Speaker 1: to drop in California or New York. Why is that?
- 25:48Speaker 5: Yeah, well, there's a there's a couple of reasons, and
- 25:51Speaker 5: they all rhyme with left wing politicists. The California has
- 25:58Speaker 5: a couple problems. One is that even though we produce
- 26:03Speaker 5: a lot of oil in the US, California doesn't really
- 26:05Speaker 5: have access to very much of it. It can get
- 26:07Speaker 5: California out of it, can get oil that's actually taken
- 26:11Speaker 5: out of the ground in California, but these giant Midwest
- 26:16Speaker 5: oil platforms we have, there's not a good pipeline to
- 26:20Speaker 5: get the oil across the whole country. That's a huge problem.
- 26:26Speaker 5: California and New York have enormous gasoline taxes. Right now,
- 26:31Speaker 5: the national average price for gasoline is something like three
- 26:36Speaker 5: dollars in eighty eight, that's called three dollars and ninety cents.
- 26:40Speaker 5: In California, it's well above five dollars that it's approaching
- 26:43Speaker 5: six dollars. So California is paying far more for gas.
- 26:47Speaker 5: But it's not because gas you know, gas stations are
- 26:51Speaker 5: greedier in California, or oil companies hate California. It's because
- 26:56Speaker 5: the climate change activists won't let us build a pipeline
- 26:59Speaker 5: to California, and California insists on taxing it. They like
- 27:03Speaker 5: expensive oil because they want to force people to give
- 27:06Speaker 5: up their internal combustion engines by making it too expensive.
- 27:10Speaker 5: So this is not an accident. It's not even an
- 27:12Speaker 5: unintended consequence of their policies. This is what they were
- 27:16Speaker 5: aiming for us to have, gastly more expensive Interesting.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Hey, we're talking John Carney, Breitbart Business Digest. Make sure
- 27:23Speaker 1: you subscribe to it. FED Chairman Jerome Powell, what the
- 27:28Speaker 1: hell is he talking about? Now when his term is up,
- 27:30Speaker 1: he may become the pro temp chairman. What is he
- 27:34Speaker 1: talking about? There's no such role, is there?
- 27:37Speaker 5: No, there's not. So what Palis said was that if
- 27:43Speaker 5: his successor, Kevin Warrish, who has been nominated by President Trump,
- 27:47Speaker 5: is not confirmed by May fifteenth, that he will stay
- 27:50Speaker 5: honest chairman. That's not allowed under the law. Now, there
- 27:54Speaker 5: have been times where the Senate didn't confirm the next chairman,
- 27:59Speaker 5: but it was the same chairman. So, in other words,
- 28:01Speaker 5: back when Powell got renominated during Biden's term for a
- 28:06Speaker 5: second term as chairman, there is a gap where the
- 28:09Speaker 5: Senate hadn't yet gotten around and confirming him to that role,
- 28:12Speaker 5: and he was allowed to stay in that role, but
- 28:15Speaker 5: that was because the President had already nominated him to
- 28:17Speaker 5: the position. That happened with Ellen Greenspan as well. There's
- 28:21Speaker 5: no president for a former chairman holding on to the
- 28:25Speaker 5: role because the next chairman hasn't been nominated. What the
- 28:29Speaker 5: best legal analysis we have of this, which goes back
- 28:32Speaker 5: to the Carter Whitehouse, says the President that will select
- 28:36Speaker 5: one of the sitting chairmen. Now he could be he
- 28:39Speaker 5: could select Powell, but I don't think Trump's going to
- 28:41Speaker 5: select Palce to be then temporary chairman. But he gets
- 28:46Speaker 5: to select one of the sitting governors to serve as chairman.
- 28:49Speaker 5: The Senate doesn't get to say, and that the FED
- 28:51Speaker 5: board doesn't get to say, and that certainly the FED.
- 28:54Speaker 5: The current FED chairman, whose term is expiring, doesn't get
- 28:57Speaker 5: to claim the power to do this unilaterally. He didn't
- 29:01Speaker 5: even have a vote, by the way, from the other
- 29:03Speaker 5: FED members to say I have this power. He is
- 29:06Speaker 5: unilaterally grabbing it. Frankly, if he continues to say this,
- 29:12Speaker 5: it could I don't think Trump will do this, but
- 29:14Speaker 5: it could become grounds to remove him, likely because he
- 29:17Speaker 5: is claiming a legal power he does not have. I
- 29:21Speaker 5: don't think Trump will do that, and it would be
- 29:22Speaker 5: a bigger hassle. What Trump should do is just announced.
- 29:26Speaker 5: If worsh isn't confirmed, is going to make Steven Myron,
- 29:30Speaker 5: Christopher Waller or Michelle Bowman the FED chairman until Warsh's
- 29:36Speaker 5: confirmation comes around.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I like that. Well, John Carney brilliant as always. Everybody

- 30:47Speaker 1: funny every night at nine. It's right here on seven
- 30:50Speaker 1: to ten. Woir so Mark Simone show on seven ten
- 30:55Speaker 1: wor Well, Hey, it's Friday, that's the good news. Today
- 31:01Speaker 1: is the first day of spring. Oh, actually just happened
- 31:05Speaker 1: to ten forty six, so we're twelve minutes into spring.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Right now. It's spring. We're not in winter anymore. It's
- 31:12Speaker 1: officially springtime. Now. Remember we had three or four years
- 31:16Speaker 1: of great winters with hardly any snow. Ah, maybe a
- 31:19Speaker 1: drop here and there. But remember we had a couple
- 31:21Speaker 1: of winters no snow, and we got used to that,
- 31:23Speaker 1: and then this past winter was brutal. Well, actually it
- 31:28Speaker 1: was probably kind of normal on the long range scale,
- 31:31Speaker 1: but we got spoiled, so it was brutal. And remember
- 31:36Speaker 1: these blizzards. It was always on a Sunday, always on
- 31:39Speaker 1: a Sunday. The blizzard would start Sunday afternoon go all
- 31:43Speaker 1: day long. Monday was a nightmare trying to get any place.
- 31:46Speaker 1: And it's great for the supermarket business. They love a
- 31:51Speaker 1: blizzard because everybody comes in and buys up everything in
- 31:54Speaker 1: the whole store. And you remember, it was always on
- 31:57Speaker 1: a Sunday, so there were a lot of Saturdays where
- 32:00Speaker 1: if you try to pull into the supermarket or into
- 32:02Speaker 1: the mall where it is, or the shopping center where
- 32:05Speaker 1: it is, you couldn't get near it. Cars backed up
- 32:07Speaker 1: for a half a mile out of the Well, it's over,
- 32:10Speaker 1: it's over. I just looked at the long range forecast.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Fifties through the weekend. Sixty on Sunday. Looks like pretty
- 32:17Speaker 1: close to the fifties all next week. And then that's it.
- 32:20Speaker 1: It's practically April. It's almost easter. You got through it.
- 32:24Speaker 1: The winter is over. It is now officially spring. Two
- 32:27Speaker 1: thousand and twenty six. Hey, coming up in the next hour.
- 32:30Speaker 1: We got a lot to get to. We'll get to
- 32:34Speaker 1: the Save Act and more. Don't go away back right
- 32:37Speaker 1: after the news. Mark Simone here on seven to ten
- 32:40Speaker 1: wor
