- 0:00Speaker 1: But I want to talk about that play because you know,
- 0:03Speaker 1: we talk about things that may carry over, may not,
- 0:06Speaker 1: and Paul Maurice has been very big on the sheet
- 0:08Speaker 1: clean next game emotions might be something to carry over.
- 0:12Speaker 1: So this was interesting displayed between Brad Marshawan and Shane
- 0:15Speaker 1: Gaspare Marshan trying to hit him, trying to get into him.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You see it right here, got scared?
- 0:21Speaker 3: Does it like?
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's what do you make of that? Is this one
- 0:24Speaker 1: of those things that just isn't done. I think they
- 0:27Speaker 1: bought that eye right out of guy.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's retaliation for Marchie taking and run
- 0:31Speaker 4: at him. I think it's obviously a little bit more gutless.
- 0:33Speaker 4: You don't normally see that type of thing. I mean,
- 0:36Speaker 4: obviously there's risk involved with the fact that if that
- 0:38Speaker 4: gets up higher, it could catch them in the face,
- 0:40Speaker 4: maybe get them in the eye if it sneaks under
- 0:42Speaker 4: his advisor. But hey, the game polices itself, and for
- 0:46Speaker 4: the rest of the game, given the fact that they
- 0:48Speaker 4: ran up the score, Florida is getting their lickings in,
- 0:50Speaker 4: and I would imagine that it continues to continues to
- 0:54Speaker 4: go that way the rest of this series. Man and
- 0:56Speaker 4: they got guys who are able to deal with that.
- 0:58Speaker 5: I don't think it's going to forget that one. Marshen
- 1:01Speaker 5: is that going to run around looking for him. But
- 1:04Speaker 5: if there's an opportunity to lay him out, I think
- 1:06Speaker 5: he's going to try to do so.
- 1:08Speaker 6: And you know, Hank, at the beginning of any series,
- 1:10Speaker 6: you take some heads of the snakes, you try to
- 1:12Speaker 6: nibble away at them.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And I think for gossip.
- 1:14Speaker 6: Bear, he's a guy that he did try to get
- 1:17Speaker 6: a couple of extra hits later on, he didn't Edzoe
- 1:19Speaker 6: said that he didn't have a stick on the ice
- 1:21Speaker 6: going towards a play that potentially went to the front
- 1:24Speaker 6: of that It did go to the front of the net,
- 1:25Speaker 6: It did end up in the net, and he was
- 1:27Speaker 6: looking for a little bit of a hit.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Late in the game.
- 1:29Speaker 6: So I think if you're Florida, and I'm not sure
- 1:31Speaker 6: if Carolina can beat this systematic team anyway, now that
- 1:34Speaker 6: you see this now af they're game one, but I
- 1:36Speaker 6: think they're like, okay, well there's number four check. You know,
- 1:39Speaker 6: will Chatfield come back? That would certainly help them because
- 1:42Speaker 6: I think Scott Morale is a tough position to be
- 1:45Speaker 6: in and he fell as he just he had a
- 1:47Speaker 6: tough night against a great hockey team that knows exactly
- 1:50Speaker 6: what to do against an inexperienced defenseman.
- 1:52Speaker 1: If Chatfield can't come back in, do you go back
- 1:55Speaker 1: to Nikishin? Yes at that point, yes, because he just
- 1:59Speaker 1: played the one game, came over from Russia. Thought he
- 2:01Speaker 1: was okay Knicks results. But what we heard from Rod
- 2:04Speaker 1: Brindimore before this game was new system, new guy. It
- 2:07Speaker 1: almost just felt like against Florida in Game one, I
- 2:10Speaker 1: kind of want the tough one. Yeah, I kind of
- 2:12Speaker 1: Maybe I just trust with the system a little bit.
- 2:13Speaker 4: More, but I understand the reasoning. I would just personally
- 2:16Speaker 4: go back to Nikisha, and he just seems like a
- 2:19Speaker 4: bigger presence out there as well, could probably handle his
- 2:21Speaker 4: own against a big forward group like Florida. I know
- 2:25Speaker 4: it'll be a very difficult situation for him, but as
- 2:28Speaker 4: it was Moro tonight, I mean it was tough, right.
- 2:30Speaker 4: He screens his goalie on the one, maybe a late
- 2:34Speaker 4: late come over on that that quick three on two
- 2:37Speaker 4: and then a tough slide with the Miko la backhand,
- 2:39Speaker 4: and then he goes puck over the glass for another one.
- 2:41Speaker 4: So a very forgettable night. But hey, man, who am
- 2:45Speaker 4: I to talk? I was a plug, so I can't
- 2:47Speaker 4: be I can't be too critical of the guy. But
- 2:49Speaker 4: they really they really turned it up on him, and
- 2:52Speaker 4: I was actually shocked at the fact of how strong
- 2:54Speaker 4: they got through out the course of the game, given
- 2:56Speaker 4: the plaque, the fact they played Sunday and Carolina was
- 2:59Speaker 4: just their waiting at home home and should have had
- 3:01Speaker 4: tons of energies.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Get too much time off maybe.
- 3:04Speaker 5: But hard, I mean the key that and as your
- 3:07Speaker 5: practices needs to be so good when you start looking
- 3:10Speaker 5: at four or five sometimes six days off, the intensity
- 3:14Speaker 5: in practice needs to be so high, otherwise you're shocked
- 3:17Speaker 5: that first game back. And also if you're as a goalie,
- 3:20Speaker 5: you're into a rhythm stutter here. No, but it's just
- 3:26Speaker 5: you know how hard you have to work to get
- 3:27Speaker 5: game ready mentally, but when you're playing, you're in it.
- 3:31Speaker 5: And then you sit out for four or five days,
- 3:32Speaker 5: it can sometimes have a negative effect.
- 3:34Speaker 6: Actually, and then Hank, you start the game off great
- 3:37Speaker 6: for Carolina's point of view, You start the game off grade,
- 3:39Speaker 6: you're hitting, you're jamming, you're not getting that many.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Shots on Bobrovski.
- 3:43Speaker 6: First goal goes against you on home ice, second goal
- 3:45Speaker 6: goes against you, and then you get some great pressure
- 3:48Speaker 6: against a really good goaltender, and all of a sudden.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Now Bob's ready to play.
- 3:51Speaker 6: I mean that you're on home ice, you're the goaltender,
- 3:54Speaker 6: you're down. Now the visiting goaltender that's a legend already
- 3:57Speaker 6: is standing on his head.
- 3:59Speaker 5: It's a fee It was feeling it, and we talked
- 4:02Speaker 5: about this off camera, just how Florida's power play really
- 4:06Speaker 5: stepped up. They scored at the right time in this
- 4:08Speaker 5: game against the best PK in the league in the
- 4:12Speaker 5: playoffs so far. They just they had answers for almost
- 4:16Speaker 5: everything tonight. It was an impressive performance. I thought Carolina
- 4:20Speaker 5: I was in it, but Florida just somehow they managed
- 4:23Speaker 5: to score at the right time to kind of kill
- 4:25Speaker 5: the momentum.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Seen this movie before.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah, Florida two for three on the power play. We
- 4:30Speaker 1: talked a lot about in the pregame, can anyone's best
- 4:32Speaker 1: match or beat Florida's best And it doesn't look good
- 4:36Speaker 1: for that to happen. Right now. Florida looks very strong.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Cardiver Hagey part of that mission for this team, and
- 4:41Speaker 1: he spoke with Jackie.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Rebin, Carteriver Hagey, Congratulations on the Game one victory on
- 4:49Speaker 3: the road. Just forty eight hours ago, you guys were
- 4:51Speaker 3: wrapping up your second round series against the Maple Leafs.
- 4:53Speaker 3: You said this morning you kind of like only having
- 4:56Speaker 3: one day off because it doesn't give you any time
- 4:57Speaker 3: to think about anything, and that appeared to to be
- 5:00Speaker 3: the case. What can you say about the effort tonight?
- 5:02Speaker 7: Yeah, it was a great effort. I think the special
- 5:03Speaker 7: teams played a big part of it. We're really good
- 5:06Speaker 7: on the PK and got a called power play goals,
- 5:08Speaker 7: which are huge. But I like the way you came out.
- 5:11Speaker 7: I think there's still some areas that we want to
- 5:12Speaker 7: clean up a little bit, and it's a completely different
- 5:14Speaker 7: game against Carolina that it is Toronto. But we like
- 5:17Speaker 7: their effort and we'll take the win.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I got a hell of a stat for you. This
- 5:20Speaker 3: is your fourth straight postseason with five or more goals.
- 5:23Speaker 3: The only other player that can say that right now
- 5:24Speaker 3: was Leon dry Sidle. What is it about the playoffs
- 5:27Speaker 3: that brings out the best in Cardiver Hagy?
- 5:29Speaker 7: Wow, that's great, Statt, I didn't know that, but yeah,
- 5:33Speaker 7: the games are emotional, it's a rivalry usually rivalry game
- 5:37Speaker 7: and playing against the same team and you're going ahead
- 5:39Speaker 7: to head against guys and it's so intense. And you
- 5:41Speaker 7: got to love the playoffs growing up watching the game
- 5:44Speaker 7: and you're not watching the regular season games, you're watching
- 5:46Speaker 7: the playoffs and it's just a ton of fun out there.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Did you have a favorite like playoff performer as a
- 5:51Speaker 3: kid growing up?
- 5:53Speaker 7: I think Jonathan Days. I loved watching the Chicago the
- 5:56Speaker 7: Chicago runs, it was unbelievable, and many others.
- 6:01Speaker 3: One more question for you. The depth on your team
- 6:04Speaker 3: has been so clutch. I mean the bottom six, the
- 6:06Speaker 3: fourth line has really made an impact throughout these postseason.
- 6:09Speaker 3: What works? What is it that they do so well?
- 6:11Speaker 7: Yeah, we have such a great team and it's all
- 6:14Speaker 7: four lines, all sixty two goalies. I mean, we're such
- 6:18Speaker 7: a deep team and everyone has every kind of line,
- 6:21Speaker 7: has the identity and we try and play do it
- 6:23Speaker 7: every night. And yeah, you see every night it seems
- 6:26Speaker 7: like a different line stepping up and scoring big goals
- 6:29Speaker 7: and making plays, and that's kind of our mentality about it.
- 6:32Speaker 3: This is actually my last one. I lied before because
- 6:34Speaker 3: AJ Grier just told the boys something about a rooftop pool.
- 6:36Speaker 3: You don't have to get on a plane tomorrow. You
- 6:38Speaker 3: get to say in one spot, how will you rest
- 6:40Speaker 3: before game two? Is he going to their rooftop full
- 6:43Speaker 3: Apparently that's the word on the street.
- 6:44Speaker 7: Okay, maybe if I get the invite, I'll join them.
- 6:47Speaker 3: All right, thank you for this congress again on the win.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Thank you, Thanks Shackie, Thanks Carter Hey as Hank will
- 6:53Speaker 1: tell you Sunscreen guys, Yeah, sunscreen, get the big show up.
- 6:56Speaker 1: It's unburned for the next game.
- 6:57Speaker 7: All right.
- 6:58Speaker 1: It is big business presented by body Armor and it's
- 7:02Speaker 1: that power play.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Yeah, Hank a Luther Greg too. Before we went to
- 7:04Speaker 4: the Verhggy interview, I thought it was a masterclass. I mean,
- 7:07Speaker 4: the zone entries were very clean. They clearly had a
- 7:10Speaker 4: game plan coming in about how much Carolina does like
- 7:13Speaker 4: the pressure. They won their battles below the goal line,
- 7:16Speaker 4: and when they took away up top, they worked that
- 7:18Speaker 4: goal line play. Ka Chuck and bark Off, great chemistry.
- 7:21Speaker 4: We knew he was going to be a factor. And
- 7:23Speaker 4: on the second one, you know, they get sustained pressure
- 7:25Speaker 4: and at a certain point Carolina is so tired over
- 7:28Speaker 4: a minute in zone they can't go as fast and
- 7:30Speaker 4: closing you as quick. What happens, Bennett rolls up top,
- 7:33Speaker 4: they get NetFront presence and he just throws a sifter
- 7:36Speaker 4: in and beats Anderson. So very very impressive. Best penalty
- 7:40Speaker 4: kill all season long in Carolina, and they expose them.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Yeah, the key is really execution and quick passing early
- 7:46Speaker 5: on because Carolina put so much pressure and we saw
- 7:49Speaker 5: them do it against both teams in the first two rounds,
- 7:52Speaker 5: but tonight they faced a team that had that Chris
- 7:55Speaker 5: passing early on that led to opening for them. How
- 8:00Speaker 5: a pressure you need to put together two three really
- 8:03Speaker 5: good passes, stick the stick, keep this speed up otherwise
- 8:06Speaker 5: Carolina is coming after you, and they killed the momentum
- 8:09Speaker 5: right and they'll do a great job, Hank.
- 8:11Speaker 6: If you're swarming and a swarming team and put that pressure,
- 8:14Speaker 6: you're going to leave an open man for just a
- 8:16Speaker 6: split second. And the calmness I saw with the Florida
- 8:19Speaker 6: Panthers when they get the puck, they're calm, they settle
- 8:22Speaker 6: it down, they make a play, and I didn't see
- 8:23Speaker 6: that on the other side. I think there were some
- 8:25Speaker 6: moments where they were in a hurry to make a
- 8:27Speaker 6: play when maybe they had a little bit more time,
- 8:29Speaker 6: but I thought to meet your orlov of the defenseman,
- 8:32Speaker 6: they couldn't afford an effort from a veteran guy. I
- 8:35Speaker 6: didn't think he was at his sharpest on the PK.
- 8:37Speaker 6: I thought he left good ice for bad around the net.
- 8:39Speaker 6: He turned it over, came back in front screen the goaltender,
- 8:42Speaker 6: so they could do some better performances, especially without Chatfield
- 8:45Speaker 6: in the lineup.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I can understand that bump in gas. Yeah, the
- 8:49Speaker 4: bump play over to Jarvis. I can understand it, just
- 8:51Speaker 4: a little bit too much on it, and Jarvis can't
- 8:54Speaker 4: get there in time, and they're able to hold in.
- 8:56Speaker 4: But when he ends up getting over to the other side, it's,
- 8:58Speaker 4: you know, that split second I had citation any goals,
- 9:01Speaker 4: then the other guys like and then so everybody's hesitating
- 9:04Speaker 4: and that's just not their jam.
- 9:06Speaker 6: Breddie Anderson saying, can I see one of these? Yeah, yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 6: let me see one of these playing.
- 9:10Speaker 4: But credit to Florida, Like that's what makes them so lethal, right,
- 9:13Speaker 4: they have the play up top, and if they're not
- 9:15Speaker 4: being given that and it's not there, they can work
- 9:17Speaker 4: it down below. And we talked about Kachuck being that
- 9:20Speaker 4: non factor, like he was great when he had to be,
- 9:22Speaker 4: especially around that area, and that's where he killed them.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Last time these two teams played two years ago, so
- 9:28Speaker 4: Owen thirteen in the last thirteen in the Eastern Conference
- 9:31Speaker 4: Finals for the Yeah Hurricanes.
- 9:33Speaker 2: And we scored fifty two twenty two.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Rod Brenda Moore. Now Owen nine is a head coach
- 9:37Speaker 1: in conference finals. And this is not like two years ago.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Those were all one goal games. First one was a
- 9:42Speaker 1: four overtime game. Just bottom line here we look at
- 9:45Speaker 1: sometimes teams dropped the first game. It's not pretty and
- 9:47Speaker 1: you think, you know what, Okay, now the big deal,
- 9:50Speaker 1: a few adjustments and will be just fine. Is it
- 9:53Speaker 1: more serious than that? Do you think for Carolina?
- 9:56Speaker 5: Well, again, their big strength first two rounds kind of
- 10:01Speaker 5: a let down a little bit, gave up two on
- 10:03Speaker 5: three opportunities. Tonight they need to come back to what
- 10:08Speaker 5: they had the first two rounds because if Florida they're
- 10:10Speaker 5: really good five on five, but on top of that that,
- 10:13Speaker 5: if they're scoring on their power play, it's going to
- 10:16Speaker 5: be a tough series for Carolina.
- 10:18Speaker 6: They got away from their game a little bit too,
- 10:20Speaker 6: but they pushed back and they wanted to make a mark.
- 10:22Speaker 6: They're going to take a chunk, almost old school like,
- 10:24Speaker 6: we're going to try to take a chunk. But at
- 10:26Speaker 6: the same time to start the next game, I think
- 10:29Speaker 6: you've got to control all delete this one.
- 10:31Speaker 2: You got to play hockey. You've got the last change.
- 10:34Speaker 7: You know.
- 10:34Speaker 6: There's a lot of things that the Carolina Hurricanes will
- 10:37Speaker 6: improve on and have to improve on, especially in creating
- 10:40Speaker 6: more congestion against the goaltender.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Blebroski. Now they did bump them. They bumped him a
- 10:44Speaker 2: few times.
- 10:45Speaker 6: He didn't get radially a nice little conversation with her
- 10:47Speaker 6: referee Kelly Sutherland. I liked his composure, and I'm sure
- 10:50Speaker 6: that they'll be warned as well, so maybe it'll be
- 10:52Speaker 6: a little more delicate area right.
- 10:54Speaker 2: There around the crease.
- 10:55Speaker 6: But listen, they didn't leave without spirit in the night,
- 10:59Speaker 6: and so I give them a lot of credit for that.
- 11:01Speaker 6: But this is a well oiled machine in the Florida Panthers, and.
- 11:04Speaker 4: They got more game breakers and they did their job
- 11:06Speaker 4: tonight when they got their opportunities. It was in the
- 11:09Speaker 4: back of the net. I really like to start for Carolina.
- 11:12Speaker 4: I really really was impressed about how they matched. If
- 11:15Speaker 4: not in some cases in the first surpass the physicality
- 11:18Speaker 4: for Florida, I think that balanced out, if not went
- 11:20Speaker 4: Florida's favor towards the end. But they are going to
- 11:23Speaker 4: get their grade a's and I think that they're pretty
- 11:26Speaker 4: close as far as high danger tonight, But Florida closes
- 11:29Speaker 4: so quick in that slot area and when they get them,
- 11:31Speaker 4: so they're going to have to capitalize on those few
- 11:33Speaker 4: opportunities they are going to get, and they just didn't
- 11:36Speaker 4: do so tonight. I could look towards the stank COVID
- 11:38Speaker 4: one in the first period, there's a few other chances,
- 11:40Speaker 4: so making sure they try to get the lead and
- 11:42Speaker 4: capitalize off the few that they're going to get
