- 0:00Speaker 1: But I always liked calling you shoon because I feel
- 0:02Speaker 1: about nicknames when I love someone that, oh I'm on
- 0:07Speaker 1: the inside, I have the inside scoop. If you love
- 0:10Speaker 1: him and you and you're in, if you're in the
- 0:12Speaker 1: cool kids group, you get to call him shoon.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Right, But you created your own nickname, and all of
- 0:18Speaker 2: a sudden I became Chocolate Bear, Sea Bear, Sea Bear.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Does anyone else from Bear? Does anyone else from Scrubs
- 0:26Speaker 1: ever call you shoon? Did anyone else Bill?
- 0:29Speaker 2: Does?
- 0:30Speaker 1: Bill Lawrence calls you shoon?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 0:32Speaker 1: I can't picture Sarah ever saying shoon?
- 0:34Speaker 2: No, but Bill, Bill, to this day still does. Well.
- 0:38Speaker 2: You know, you and Bill probably have spent more time
- 0:40Speaker 2: in my family than anyone else in the cast, you
- 0:42Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 0:42Speaker 1: And I remember when you and your brother set up
- 0:45Speaker 1: a little sound studio in your house once and you
- 0:47Speaker 1: called it audio sh What did you call it? Audio shoes?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Audio shoon, audio shoon?
- 0:52Speaker 1: I bet you wish you had that audio booth right now.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I do wish I had that audience, I do. That
- 0:57Speaker 2: would be awesome, That would be awesome audio shoon. Anyway,
- 1:00Speaker 2: we should get into the did you.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Count us in Donald that you did, here's some stories that.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Show we made about a bunch of tops and nurses, said,
- 1:14Speaker 3: he's the stories, ness, so gada YadA. Here.
- 1:29Speaker 1: You know, we're getting a lot of love on our
- 1:30Speaker 1: theme song and it may oh before we forget. Would
- 1:33Speaker 1: you mind just laying down, um, because we never got
- 1:37Speaker 1: it and I think the song at the very end
- 1:40Speaker 1: should have you doing that.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So well, we got to get the key and all
- 1:43Speaker 2: of that stuff, and there's.
- 1:45Speaker 1: To a temporary one and Dan will lay it on
- 1:48Speaker 1: for us. M h. Yeah, all right, it's gonna be
- 1:52Speaker 1: out of key. It might be out of key, but Dan,
- 1:54Speaker 1: we like that better. No, So Dan, now I want
- 1:58Speaker 1: to but I want you to do in the editing
- 2:00Speaker 1: replay the theme song now with the addition of Donald's.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Here's some stories. I'm not sure we made about a
- 2:11Speaker 3: bunch of docs and nurses.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I said, here's the stories.
- 2:20Speaker 1: So YadA YadA, Donald. This is a very special episode
- 2:32Speaker 1: of Scrubs because it has so much in it, and
- 2:34Speaker 1: it has your favorite thing in the world, which is
- 2:37Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Star Wars. Holy shit, I got so excited about two
- 2:40Speaker 2: things go on when I realized it was the Aspen
- 2:43Speaker 2: episode so much I jumped for joy.
- 2:46Speaker 1: So much in this episode. The ass box, right.
- 2:49Speaker 2: The ass box, the things that people have actually stuck
- 2:52Speaker 2: up their butt. You know, you might think that those
- 2:55Speaker 2: were fake. Well, some of them were fake. But the
- 2:58Speaker 2: problem with the light bulb when you stick it up
- 3:00Speaker 2: butt is you'll never get it out without breaking the
- 3:02Speaker 2: light bulb.
- 3:03Speaker 1: No, that's a different episode, by the way, when when
- 3:05Speaker 1: the light bulb was up someone's ass and Johnny c says,
- 3:08Speaker 1: either this guy has a light bulb of his ass
- 3:11Speaker 1: or his colon has a great idea. I thought that
- 3:14Speaker 1: was this episode, but it's actually a different episode.
- 3:16Speaker 2: We went back to that room. That jump could be
- 3:18Speaker 2: used again.
- 3:19Speaker 1: But I want you the audience to know that this
- 3:22Speaker 1: is a real thing. We learned when we were making
- 3:25Speaker 1: this that hospitals have collections of things they've pulled out
- 3:29Speaker 1: of people who stick stuff in their assholes. Right, yeah,
- 3:35Speaker 1: ass box is a real thing.
- 3:36Speaker 2: An ass box is a real thing. Unfortunately, at Sacred
- 3:39Speaker 2: Heart there's no Lost and Found, but there's an ass box.
- 3:44Speaker 1: There's something funny about the word ass when you attach
- 3:47Speaker 1: it to anything, you laugh. I laughed every time someone
- 3:49Speaker 1: said ass box. I laughed when I think it was
- 3:51Speaker 1: Judy said ass pen right.
- 3:53Speaker 2: But not only that. I laughed when people call other
- 3:55Speaker 2: people ass face.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I think I laugh every time someone says asshead or
- 4:00Speaker 1: ass face, asshole.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Those are funny words.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah, ass next to anything. I'm wearing these big rain
- 4:07Speaker 1: boots today, Donald, I want to show you.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Let me see what are you doing? Are you gardening?
- 4:11Speaker 1: Well it's it's pissing rain in Los Angeles and.
- 4:14Speaker 2: You are British.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Now, well, yeah, and the British is wearing off on me.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I said, say, the British is contagious because I'm wearing
- 4:21Speaker 1: like my big gardening boots.
- 4:24Speaker 2: And we have a like in a Peter Rabbit movie.
- 4:27Speaker 1: We have a puppy. So I have to be out
- 4:29Speaker 1: in the rain trying to potty train a puppy and
- 4:32Speaker 1: these are my puppy training rain boots.
- 4:34Speaker 2: All right, let's get into this episode.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Now, wait before we do. When I was on the
- 4:39Speaker 1: phone with you and Casey, and I'm sorry to the audience.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I know I told you that I was going to
- 4:43Speaker 1: refrain from talking to Donald because I wanted to save
- 4:46Speaker 1: all our contact for the podcast. But Casey was chiming
- 4:51Speaker 1: in on the speakerphone on your cell phone, and she
- 4:53Speaker 1: said that you are not even letting the children walk
- 4:56Speaker 1: around the block. Donald, I think you got to air
- 4:58Speaker 1: those kids out.
- 5:00Speaker 2: You know, we go on walks every now and then, like.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, but like once a week, that's not enough, I think.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not a parent, and I understand why
- 5:08Speaker 1: you would be terrified. But I think I know, bro,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I think if you're nowhere near anyone, you can have
- 5:14Speaker 1: the kids go around the block. I think that's you're
- 5:16Speaker 1: allowed to do that. You got to air them out, right.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Unfortunately, it's been raining, so I haven't been able to
- 5:21Speaker 2: do that. I hear that message loud and clear.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Listen.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I am have Cavin fever for sure.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I am in no position to give parenting advice, but
- 5:29Speaker 1: I am. I am the godfather of these children, and
- 5:32Speaker 1: as godfather, I would like them to walk around the
- 5:34Speaker 1: block once a fucking week. Wow.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Okay, okay, yes, write that down there. Notes Listen, they're
- 5:42Speaker 2: my kids.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I love the case. He was in the background like
- 5:45Speaker 1: he wou'd even let him walk around the block, all right?
- 5:50Speaker 1: Should we get in the episode.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I've been trying to do that for life, you know.
- 5:53Speaker 1: But you know there is a we do have a
- 5:55Speaker 1: catch up phase. Donald. Section one is Zach and Donald
- 5:59Speaker 1: catch up and you're rushing just because you're so excited
- 6:02Speaker 1: about Star Wars.
- 6:03Speaker 2: I'm excited about Star Wars. I'm excited about the ass Pen.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I'm excited about the title of the show, My two Dads.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I love that Craig Zisc directed this episode.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Craig Zisk is a very fine, fine TV director and
- 6:16Speaker 1: this was his first episode for us, and also written
- 6:18Speaker 1: by a writing team Garrick dubers And and Neil Goldman, two
- 6:22Speaker 1: of our favorite writers. Some writers work in the writer's
- 6:26Speaker 1: room as an individual, and some writers are writing teams,
- 6:30Speaker 1: and this is the first. I think this is the
- 6:32Speaker 1: only am I correct Onald, this was the only writing
- 6:35Speaker 1: team for season one.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I believe so. But also not just that. They went
- 6:41Speaker 2: on to do other things. They came from Family Guy,
- 6:44Speaker 2: then they started, Then they did Scrubs, they went onto Community.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yes, they ran your Community.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And then went on to do other projects after that.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Like these guys started, these guys start, I would I
- 6:57Speaker 2: would love to say humble beginnings, but wow, they started
- 6:59Speaker 2: with Guy and then went right into Scrubs and then
- 7:03Speaker 2: after that Community. That's a string of hits to work on.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I would they were very funny, and they are very funny,
- 7:07Speaker 1: and they were very different. I always thought it was
- 7:09Speaker 1: interesting that they were partners because they were the two
- 7:11Speaker 1: of them were just such different people.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah, but wrote such funny scripts.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah, they were the perfect partnership. This episode is jam
- 7:20Speaker 1: packed and has more fantasies than a lot of episodes.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Speaking of Speaking of that, I used to get and
- 7:26Speaker 2: I don't think I ever told you this, but I
- 7:28Speaker 2: used to get jealous. And it all comes to a
- 7:30Speaker 2: head at the end of this episode. But you used
- 7:33Speaker 2: to do some of the coolest fantasies. Yeah, throughout the show,
- 7:37Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And this was the first
- 7:39Speaker 2: time where a fantasy came up. And I ran up
- 7:42Speaker 2: on Bill and I was like, Bill, you gotta put
- 7:43Speaker 2: me in this fucking fantasy. Man, you gotta put me
- 7:46Speaker 2: in this fantasy at Star Wars, dude, and I don't
- 7:49Speaker 2: know if you know this, but I love Star Wars.
- 7:51Speaker 2: He's like, well, who would you be? And I was like,
- 7:53Speaker 2: just make me Han solo, Just make me Han solo.
- 7:55Speaker 2: And I'm there and it happens, and he was like,
- 7:58Speaker 2: all right, yeah, fine, not only did it, No, it
- 8:02Speaker 2: was just you and uh, it was just J. D.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Cox and Kelso, okay, I'm sure that.
- 8:08Speaker 1: And then Bill was probably like, oh, we gotta add
- 8:11Speaker 1: the others if we're gonna add Yeah, we gotta.
- 8:12Speaker 2: If we add Donald, we got to add everybody else,
- 8:14Speaker 2: which created a great joke, you know what I mean,
- 8:16Speaker 2: for those chewy and then fucking the Janet Her.
- 8:20Speaker 1: For those of you who don't know this, and I'm
- 8:21Speaker 1: guessing you're getting a sense, Donald Faison is the biggest
- 8:25Speaker 1: Star Wars fan that I have ever met in my life.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And no, you're by far the most. And Donald, you
- 8:33Speaker 1: voice a character on What Tell Everyone.
- 8:35Speaker 2: On Star Wars Resistance Hype Phase on the character was
- 8:38Speaker 2: named after me.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Uh.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Dave Filoni named the character after me. That's a big
- 8:43Speaker 2: deal for Donald uh for you all.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But Donald Hobby uh is stop motion animation and with legos,
- 8:51Speaker 1: he has made several Star Wars animated lego films that
- 8:57Speaker 1: you can check out on YouTube and they're called Black Storm.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Right. So I realized how my stop motion, how I
- 9:06Speaker 2: got into stop motion, and it was because of Star Wars.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I always thought that it was the ad ads in
- 9:11Speaker 2: the Empire strikes back when they're attacking the rebel base
- 9:14Speaker 2: on the Planet Hawth. But it turns out there was
- 9:17Speaker 2: a video that came out around the same time Return
- 9:21Speaker 2: of the Jedi came out called Star Wars from Star
- 9:24Speaker 2: Wars to Jedi, and it was like the behind the
- 9:27Speaker 2: scenes and all the special effects that went into making
- 9:33Speaker 2: Star Wars, and like the documentary is about an hour
- 9:37Speaker 2: and a half, thirty minutes of the documentary is all
- 9:42Speaker 2: based on is all dedicated to stop motion animation. And
- 9:45Speaker 2: I watched this as a kid, and I had it
- 9:47Speaker 2: on video as a kid, and it wasn't until like
- 9:50Speaker 2: the behind the scenes specials that came out with it
- 9:54Speaker 2: and with that from Star Wars to Jedi was in
- 9:58Speaker 2: that package. And I realized then and there after watching
- 10:01Speaker 2: it and probably like this was the this was the
- 10:04Speaker 2: this was the plug.
- 10:05Speaker 1: And and you combined, uh, your love of Star Wars
- 10:09Speaker 1: with your love of stop motion animation. Now you're not
- 10:11Speaker 1: gonna say this because it would be too controversial, but
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm going to say that when J. J. Abrams made
- 10:17Speaker 1: the new movie and there was a Black Stormtrooper, I went,
- 10:21Speaker 1: come on, buddy, somebody saw Donald's lego movies. I'm not
- 10:27Speaker 1: getting you can lean back, lean back in your chair
- 10:29Speaker 1: and don't say a word. I'm saying as a fan
- 10:32Speaker 1: of your stop motion movies, the hero of which was
- 10:36Speaker 1: the first Black Stormtrooper, and then the zillion dollar movie
- 10:40Speaker 1: comes out. I said to myself, come on, buddy, don't speak.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Don't speak. I don't want to get you in trouble
- 10:47Speaker 1: with all your your star Wars of friends. What's his name?
- 10:51Speaker 1: The guy with the cowboy hat is the super superstar Warsloney,
- 10:54Speaker 1: Dave Feloney, that's the man right there.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I want to be on the you know, George Lucas.
- 10:58Speaker 2: George Lucas pretty much gave him the keys to the
- 11:02Speaker 2: corvette man.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Dave Filoni.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Yeah, man, he's the keeper.
- 11:05Speaker 1: He's the keeper of the lore right and when.
- 11:08Speaker 2: They go and do other things. He's involved in stuff
- 11:11Speaker 2: like that. But you know, his his stuff like the
- 11:13Speaker 2: Clone Wars Rebels.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Is he involved the Mandalorians.
- 11:17Speaker 2: He is the executive producer of the Mandalorian. I really
- 11:20Speaker 2: like man when he's involved, when they have him involved,
- 11:22Speaker 2: I'm telling you, man, it's really really good stuff. I
- 11:26Speaker 2: I you know, Dave Filoni should be if you ask me,
- 11:31Speaker 2: you know, he should be always asked, well, what do
- 11:34Speaker 2: you think of this? Dave and let him.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I think he is right. Isn't he the keeper of
- 11:38Speaker 1: the lore? If you will?
- 11:40Speaker 2: I don't know if that's always the way it goes.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I don't know how they I.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Gotta say, I'm not the biggest, as big as Star Wars,
- 11:44Speaker 1: giek as you, but I really am enjoying the Mandalorian
- 11:47Speaker 1: and it's great. I know. Baby Yoda is like the
- 11:49Speaker 1: biggest marketing uh cash grab merchandising cash grab has ever
- 11:55Speaker 1: been done. But I want one. I want a baby Yoda.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Who doesn't want a baby?
- 11:59Speaker 1: I want a baby Yoda. I want to real life Viviota.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Can we get to the episode Donald for God's sake? Okay,
- 12:04Speaker 1: let's go at twenty one seconds in there's a reference
- 12:07Speaker 1: to the Rock. Now this is two thousand and one.
- 12:10Speaker 1: The Rock is a very famous wrestler. I don't know
- 12:13Speaker 1: if he's made films yet. She does say he's a
- 12:15Speaker 1: film star.
- 12:16Speaker 2: He says, she says he's a movie star.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But he's not the rock that he is now, No.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Right, it wasn't like he was. That's a good question, Joel.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Can you look up what films had the Rock made
- 12:27Speaker 1: in two thousand and one? I don't know how many
- 12:29Speaker 1: it is, but obviously enough for Sara to say he's
- 12:31Speaker 1: a film star.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Well look I'll say this right now, yes, go ahead.
- 12:36Speaker 2: The Scorpion King, I think was the first bit is.
- 12:40Speaker 1: That Joel's cracking up. What do you crack? The first
- 12:43Speaker 1: big oneok At Joel's outfit today, she's all matching it.
- 12:46Speaker 2: No, she's all yellow. She got on and it was
- 12:48Speaker 2: all yellow.
- 12:50Speaker 1: You look good, Joel? All right? What's the Rocks credits
- 12:52Speaker 1: in two thousand and one? Thus far in his career,
- 12:54Speaker 1: just the highlights we don't need, like the little indie
- 12:56Speaker 1: he did in stad.
- 12:59Speaker 4: You always goes so the Mummy returns, then Scorpion King,
- 13:05Speaker 4: then run downs and walking tall and then he really
- 13:07Speaker 4: hits it off in two thousand and five.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Would be cool?
- 13:09Speaker 1: Okay, there you go, be cool?
- 13:11Speaker 2: What was be cool? Be cool? I imagine the rock
- 13:14Speaker 2: just running around. Be cool.
- 13:15Speaker 1: It's a comedy with who duo Kevin Hart.
- 13:18Speaker 4: No, it's got John Travolta and Uma Thurman and Vince
- 13:20Speaker 4: Vaughn Andric Oh right.
- 13:22Speaker 2: It's to get shorty uh sequel?
- 13:24Speaker 1: Okay? All right, all right, well he was a movie star,
- 13:27Speaker 1: then we're wrong, but he wasn't the level of like global.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I mean, he's like the biggest movie star in the
- 13:31Speaker 1: world and now.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Right him, well there's him, Kevin Hart, Will Smith still
- 13:37Speaker 2: Harrison Ford Smith.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Will Smith. I don't think is on the level of
- 13:41Speaker 1: the Rock these days because the Rock rarely, The Rock rare.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Last movie was Bad Boys from Life, and I think, really, well.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just saying, and I love Will Smith. Don't
- 13:51Speaker 1: think I'm taking anything away from I just think that
- 13:54Speaker 1: the Rock doesn't really have bombs. He's you know, there
- 13:56Speaker 1: used to be movies.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Does what the Rock does?
- 13:59Speaker 1: A rock has a yeah, oh, the beach One, the
- 14:02Speaker 1: bay Watch, the bay Watch. I sound like my dad
- 14:05Speaker 1: the bay Watch. My dad saw dream Girls and he goes,
- 14:08Speaker 1: and he had never heard of Beyonce, but he saw
- 14:10Speaker 1: dream Girls and he goes, I gotta tell you this Bayance,
- 14:14Speaker 1: she is something. And uh, we always called me off
- 14:19Speaker 1: for days because of that sound. My dad he was
- 14:22Speaker 1: just he was so taken by her, understandably like the
- 14:26Speaker 1: rest of earth, but he was like, this Bayonce, she
- 14:28Speaker 1: is something.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Can we get to the episode, Donald, We've been in
- 14:34Speaker 2: the episode all right?
- 14:35Speaker 1: All right? So the Rock and then the family Feud Fantasy.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I remember going to the Real Family Feud set and
- 14:41Speaker 1: that was exciting. I'd never been on a game show
- 14:43Speaker 1: set before, and I thought it was very funny that
- 14:46Speaker 1: the breakdown is Boobs ninety three seeing the Rock, four
- 14:52Speaker 1: beer sandwiches, two World Piece one. So when they did
- 14:57Speaker 1: when they when they pulled one hundred people, two different
- 14:59Speaker 1: people in this scenario said beer sandwiches.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Wow. But you know, it's crazy that it says the
- 15:07Speaker 2: Rock is one of them, also, because I feel like
- 15:10Speaker 2: the Rock is kind of the I mean, I'm sure
- 15:12Speaker 2: it's been said before, but he's like, male, Oprah, you
- 15:15Speaker 2: know what I mean, how.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Do you mean?
- 15:18Speaker 2: Like the Rock says, Yo, this is what we're doing,
- 15:20Speaker 2: and it seems like a whole community of people are like, yeah,
- 15:23Speaker 2: this is what we're doing.
- 15:23Speaker 1: The Rock said, So I know, but I don't think
- 15:25Speaker 1: The Rock was that level of megafandom twenty fact.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Then, but right now it's it speaks volumes of of
- 15:32Speaker 2: how steady his career has been and how he is amazing.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Dude, Okay, Donald loves the Rock.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Who doesn't love the Rock exactly? That's my point. That's
- 15:43Speaker 2: like somebody's saying something bad about Bruno Mars.
- 15:46Speaker 1: You're like, what I feel like, you know, I'm sure
- 15:51Speaker 1: there's people who don't like Bruno Mars. There's probably a few.
- 15:54Speaker 1: There's people who don't like anything. I once saw this
- 15:56Speaker 1: video on YouTube and it was sweet. It probably tears
- 15:58Speaker 1: to my eyes. It was literally add seeing a duet
- 16:02Speaker 1: with his little adorable daughter on a guitar, and it
- 16:05Speaker 1: like brought tears in my eyes. It was the sweetest
- 16:07Speaker 1: thing in the world. And then I looked on YouTube
- 16:09Speaker 1: and they were like thousands of thumbs downs, like people.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Were like, no, no to this, How dare you sing
- 16:16Speaker 2: with that little daughter that's.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Too fucking adorable? I hate it? Fuck you. You can
- 16:21Speaker 1: find people to hate anything, donalm Yeah, do you want
- 16:24Speaker 1: to sing Taylor Swift hater's gonna hate right now?
- 16:26Speaker 2: Well, I mean she's the one that taught me that.
- 16:28Speaker 1: She's the one that taught you that hater's gonna hate
- 16:30Speaker 1: hate hate. Yeah.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I mean once she said it, it was like, you're right.
- 16:35Speaker 1: One thirty two, I wrote down Matt Winston returns now
- 16:38Speaker 1: Matt Winston who plays doctor Stedman and who humps Kelso's
- 16:42Speaker 1: leg here. I just think I decided, I'm sorry. I
- 16:45Speaker 1: know we're early in this podcast, but he is my
- 16:47Speaker 1: vote so far for most underused funny supporting character.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Agreed.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I think Bill had a thing with him. I don't
- 16:54Speaker 1: know what happened, but every time I see him, I
- 16:56Speaker 1: crack up. And I don't know why this guy was
- 16:58Speaker 1: not like one of the go to regulars.
- 17:00Speaker 2: He could have been. He should have been around for
- 17:02Speaker 2: a really long time. He may I'm sure he may have.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Found a way to annoy Bill or something. Because it
- 17:07Speaker 1: doesn't make any sense, it doesn't commute. We're gonna have
- 17:09Speaker 1: to ask that, you know what, Joelle, remember when Bill
- 17:11Speaker 1: said we could ask him things. Ask and we'll insert
- 17:14Speaker 1: Bill here. Why did you stop using Matt Winston? Bill?
- 17:17Speaker 1: Come on, well, I'll tell you guys.
- 17:19Speaker 5: I should have used Matt Winston Moore. It was really funny.
- 17:22Speaker 5: But when we were that early on the show, we
- 17:25Speaker 5: were always shooting episodes that were five, six, seven, sometimes
- 17:29Speaker 5: even eleven or twelve minutes long, and I was still
- 17:32Speaker 5: trying to find room for my pals, Rob Mashio, you know,
- 17:36Speaker 5: as a buddy of mine, and I wanted to get
- 17:38Speaker 5: him in all the time. Neil Flynn wasn't even a regular,
- 17:41Speaker 5: and we wanted to get him in. We were essentially
- 17:43Speaker 5: doing an A story, a B story, a C story,
- 17:45Speaker 5: and a jan other runner, which, if you're wondering, is
- 17:48Speaker 5: too much. So we kept using Matt Winston over the years,
- 17:52Speaker 5: and he kept working. He was in About Schmidt, and
- 17:54Speaker 5: he was in year movie. Zach should have used him more.
- 17:56Speaker 5: He's super super funny, cool bit of trivia. Do you
- 18:00Speaker 5: guys know who Matt Winston's dad is? That's all I'm saying.
- 18:04Speaker 5: I miss you, guys. Why am I not back already
- 18:07Speaker 5: with you?
- 18:08Speaker 1: See?
- 18:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and I love that Kelso didn't know your name
- 18:11Speaker 2: for the first few this whole time. The reason why
- 18:13Speaker 2: he's been calling you sport and everything like that, because
- 18:15Speaker 2: he still doesn't know your name.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I literally laughed out loud when he said when I said,
- 18:21Speaker 1: that's the that's the manufacture of the clipboard, sir. That's
- 18:28Speaker 1: very funny, very very funny. I just thought he's a funny,
- 18:32Speaker 1: funny guy. And uh, but yeah, that scene was really funny.
- 18:35Speaker 1: And by the way, a little trivia I saw on
- 18:37Speaker 1: the interwebs because I did research today on the interwebs.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You know, there's all this talk that the janitor didn't
- 18:42Speaker 1: acknowledge anyone else in season one, but me. But there's
- 18:46Speaker 1: a little debate because he passes the janitor and says
- 18:48Speaker 1: smells like ammonious pungent today. He might just be saying
- 18:51Speaker 1: that out to the universe. Donald, he might not be
- 18:53Speaker 1: acknowledging the janitor.
- 18:54Speaker 2: But no, I think he's I honestly do believe he's
- 18:57Speaker 2: acknowledging the janitor, right.
- 18:58Speaker 1: That's not helping the scrubs low that he does.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know what, it doesn't track. Some things
- 19:03Speaker 2: just don't track.
- 19:03Speaker 1: He might have just come into the hallway Donald and gone, oh,
- 19:06Speaker 1: ammonia's punging today.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Listen, just because we're on the show and we're best
- 19:10Speaker 2: friends with the creator of the show, doesn't mean that
- 19:12Speaker 2: everything has to track. Dude, all right, this didn't track.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I want to track. It didn't though, Okay, somebody fucked up.
- 19:19Speaker 2: I love the fact that Carla and Turk's relationship is
- 19:22Speaker 2: moving to the next level. They are now bumping uglies
- 19:26Speaker 2: or they're about to bump uglies. And what does Zach,
- 19:29Speaker 2: what does JD do? He comes in and he ruins it.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Sea blocks, you've see.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Block for real? And I was always I always thought,
- 19:38Speaker 2: you know, Carla totally mind fucks turk Man like. She
- 19:42Speaker 2: even says to him, do you want me to take
- 19:44Speaker 2: you into the room right now and we can have sex?
- 19:47Speaker 2: And when you come out, you'll be walking sideways because
- 19:50Speaker 2: I'll use I will have used all your up and downs.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very aggressive.
- 19:54Speaker 2: What person in their right mind is gonna say no,
- 19:56Speaker 2: I don't want that. She might fox him so hard
- 20:01Speaker 2: that he's like, no, I don't want that.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I like that. She's such a strong woman. She's like, yeah,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you're going to bang you so hard you won't be
- 20:08Speaker 1: able to move. Do you want to? And you're like,
- 20:10Speaker 1: uh no, but this bullshit though that you would be like,
- 20:14Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but it's bullshit that you would be like that.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I panic. He panicked.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I know, Yeah, that was funny. That was funny. Wait,
- 20:21Speaker 1: I wanted to talk about my nipples real quick. The
- 20:23Speaker 1: band aid's on the nipples right now. Have you ever
- 20:26Speaker 1: been on sets where your nipples the air conditioning's on,
- 20:29Speaker 1: and and and your nipples are so hard it looks
- 20:32Speaker 1: like you're smuggling raisins and and you're you're saying, I
- 20:35Speaker 1: can't wear this shirt because I I've got rock hard nipples.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Absolutely so.
- 20:39Speaker 1: On my last show, I did that was it was
- 20:42Speaker 1: really bad. So I started, I mean, it's embarrassing, but
- 20:44Speaker 1: I wore pasties because the wardrobe truck has pasties for women,
- 20:51Speaker 1: and I said, yeah, but they're mostly for women, but
- 20:55Speaker 1: in men in this case, because I I was like,
- 20:58Speaker 1: I can't do this scene. It listened the shirt. It
- 21:00Speaker 1: looks ridiculous because it's freezing in here. My nips are
- 21:03Speaker 1: rock hard. Bring out the pasties. So they just became
- 21:06Speaker 1: a running joke with the word of department. They'd be like, Okay, Zach,
- 21:09Speaker 1: you're gonna be in this shirt today, and do you
- 21:11Speaker 1: think you'll need your pasties?
- 21:15Speaker 2: Do you remember what you used to call my nipples?
- 21:17Speaker 1: What you don't remember, Oh, melted her, she's kisses. Yes,
- 21:26Speaker 1: that's what they look like they do. Next time you
- 21:29Speaker 1: guys see Donald topless on the screen, zoom in and
- 21:32Speaker 1: they look like little cute and melted her she's kissing. Ah.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I can't relive I remember that.
- 21:42Speaker 2: All right. So this is a perfect example. How we
- 21:44Speaker 2: were talking with Bill on the episode a few days
- 21:47Speaker 2: ago when we were talking about how Kelso is all
- 21:50Speaker 2: about insurance and Cox is all about, you know, breaking
- 21:55Speaker 2: the rules so that he can get patients taken care
- 21:57Speaker 2: of because he's one of those doctors that actually cares.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Obviously, this couldn't be more relevant than anything today. This debate,
- 22:05Speaker 1: that was what we've been having in this country forever,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and we were having on this show. I mean, you
- 22:09Speaker 1: couldn't make this show and not start off early on
- 22:12Speaker 1: and discuss the problem of health insurance and how doctors
- 22:15Speaker 1: have to deal with this huge crisis when patients don't
- 22:18Speaker 1: have health insurance.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know me, personally, I would prefer a
- 22:23Speaker 2: doctor like Cox, but I can see how a hospital
- 22:26Speaker 2: can go broke if you have a bunch of doctors
- 22:28Speaker 2: like that. You know what I mean.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Well, this is the debate of our time, Donald, and
- 22:32Speaker 1: we won't begin we won't even begin to wade into
- 22:35Speaker 1: the debate because we're not nearly smart enough. But I
- 22:37Speaker 1: did think that this was very well articulated. This, I mean,
- 22:41Speaker 1: before I remembered this was the Star Wars episode, I
- 22:44Speaker 1: said to myself, Oh, it's a battle of good vers
- 22:47Speaker 1: evil and and they're fighting over the soul of JD
- 22:51Speaker 1: on the golf course.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Absolutely, And you think, you honestly believe because of how
- 22:56Speaker 2: emotional you get when your mentor kind of washes his hand.
- 23:01Speaker 2: When he washes his hands with you, you almost fall
- 23:04Speaker 2: to the dark side. And it's really easy to fall
- 23:06Speaker 2: to the dark side. This is this is why I
- 23:08Speaker 2: love this. This is why I love this. You can
- 23:10Speaker 2: talk about Star Wars now.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I have a feeling you're gonna find a way. Maybe
- 23:14Speaker 1: I have a feeling you're going to start a side project,
- 23:16Speaker 1: a side hustle about Star Wars. There's probably nine thousand
- 23:21Speaker 1: Star Wars podcasts. Oh, I'm sure there are bros sitting
- 23:25Speaker 1: around talking about the jedis. What's your favorite? Let's digress
- 23:30Speaker 1: for a moment. What's your favorite? You have to pick
- 23:32Speaker 1: one Star Wars film or there's a gun to your head.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Go the Empire strikes back. That's the easiest.
- 23:38Speaker 1: That's everyone says that, right if you're a mega fan. Yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 1: for me, it was it was the Christmas special, the
- 23:44Speaker 1: one with with with Chewy on the beach.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Rogue one is my favorite Star Wars movie. It's not
- 23:52Speaker 4: to go to the premiere, and partially because it's everything
- 23:55Speaker 4: I love about the animated Star Wars brought to the
- 23:57Speaker 4: live action screen.
- 23:58Speaker 2: It's the first time Darth Faders every really scary.
- 24:00Speaker 1: It was.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Well I'll tell you that. I'll tell you one thing
- 24:04Speaker 2: that part. If that didn't make the movie, that would
- 24:07Speaker 2: have been people would have been pissed off before release. Dude,
- 24:11Speaker 2: I'm sorry, that's well, I didn't.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Know you were a mega fan. Maybe you can be
- 24:14Speaker 1: Donald's co host and his Star Wars podcast.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Star Wars We should we should shoot it.
- 24:22Speaker 1: One thing I've always wanted to ask you, Donald, is
- 24:23Speaker 1: how come in the Ewok song at the end of
- 24:25Speaker 1: Return of the Jedi they say, yup nub it chikey
- 24:28Speaker 1: why why and then they go celebrate the Life? Does
- 24:31Speaker 1: that mean that there's no ewalk ease for celebrate the life.
- 24:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to say yes.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Okay, so it just doesn't translate yub nub chy why why.
- 24:39Speaker 6: Celebrate the live?
- 24:41Speaker 2: Right right? Yup nub jump nub you know, the whole
- 24:48Speaker 2: celebrate the live.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Oh my god, Dan is telling me that Joelle is
- 24:54Speaker 1: the most knowledgeable person on Star Wars, Marvel Watchman, literally
- 24:59Speaker 1: a million mega fan things.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Well, this is the Scrubs podcast, I know, Donald, Let's
- 25:04Speaker 2: get back to this knowledgeable in Scrubs.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Yeah she is, But apparently we're learning something about Joelle
- 25:09Speaker 1: that she is mega Mega Mega Star Wars geek like you,
- 25:12Speaker 1: We're gonna have to tribute her later. All right, Donald,
- 25:15Speaker 1: back to our show.
- 25:16Speaker 2: So we were talking about Cocks breaking the rules, and
- 25:18Speaker 2: but then one of the funniest things that we almost
- 25:21Speaker 2: saw an eagle, Yeah yeah, when he spinds you.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I laughed so hard at you losing your balance after
- 25:28Speaker 2: two revolutions.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I think, I really, I think that was genuine. There
- 25:31Speaker 1: were two episodes, two places in this episode where I
- 25:33Speaker 1: genuinely fell. One after Johnny c spit spun me in
- 25:37Speaker 1: that sort of Wonder Years and that was shot on
- 25:39Speaker 1: like Super eight film to look like the old school.
- 25:41Speaker 1: And then when I'm in the the water hazard. Is
- 25:44Speaker 1: that what you call it? A water hazard? When I'm
- 25:46Speaker 1: in the When I'm in the water hazard and I'm
- 25:48Speaker 1: and I'm golfing, I remember I legit fell in that
- 25:50Speaker 1: moment and wasn't supposed to. I slipped, Wow, And just
- 25:53Speaker 1: taking golf. That's how professional I am. Donald, like, kept
- 25:55Speaker 1: going as you should.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Speaking of golf, John C McGinley I think has been
- 25:59Speaker 2: trying to hustle me because I picked up golf well
- 26:02Speaker 2: after we finished scrubs, I picked up golf as a
- 26:04Speaker 2: matter of fact, my standing on Scrubs. Deontay Gordon, Yes,
- 26:10Speaker 2: when Scrubs was all said and done, he was the
- 26:12Speaker 2: one that took me out to the golf course and
- 26:13Speaker 2: was like, you know, because my wife had told me,
- 26:15Speaker 2: you need to stop playing basketball. You're getting hurt all
- 26:17Speaker 2: the time. I'm sick and tired of.
- 26:18Speaker 1: And you were playing tennis. You were getting really good
- 26:20Speaker 1: at tennis.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I was getting good at tennis, but I was hurting
- 26:23Speaker 2: myself a lot, right. She was like, you gotta get
- 26:26Speaker 2: you gotta start. And also, tennis is very expensive. Let's
- 26:29Speaker 2: just be honest.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Tennis expensive to play. What you're just paying the court feet?
- 26:33Speaker 2: What do you oh, you mean lessons, lessons, all of
- 26:35Speaker 2: that stuff. To get good, you have to get lessons.
- 26:37Speaker 2: And I was like, well, what do I want to
- 26:39Speaker 2: play that I can play for the rest of my life?
- 26:41Speaker 2: And I said, you know, I picked up golf, and
- 26:43Speaker 2: Deontay took me to the golf course and we practiced
- 26:46Speaker 2: playing golf quite a bit and then finally, you know,
- 26:49Speaker 2: we went out and we play and we play a lot.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Now we play golf together. John C. McGinley, I you know,
- 26:56Speaker 2: I expressed to him that I love golf, and he's like,
- 26:59Speaker 2: oh wow, dude, I picked up golf also. I just
- 27:02Speaker 2: got into it. I'm really excited recently as well. This
- 27:05Speaker 2: was the last time we saw him at Bill's birthday
- 27:08Speaker 2: party and I was like, oh wow. I was like,
- 27:11Speaker 2: we should go out now. You know, in my mind,
- 27:14Speaker 2: I'm thinking I'm about to bust John C. Mcginley's ass
- 27:17Speaker 2: in golf. And then we watched this episode. Yeah, and
- 27:21Speaker 2: he's got a really good golf swing.
- 27:22Speaker 1: And dude, he really hit that putt. I mean that
- 27:24Speaker 1: no one was and he did that walk away that
- 27:26Speaker 1: was all real. I think he you know, they thought, Okay,
- 27:29Speaker 1: you know, we don't have time to sit here all day.
- 27:31Speaker 1: He got a long putt, we'll cut it up if
- 27:32Speaker 1: we need to. He literally hit the ball and then
- 27:35Speaker 1: walked away and it went in and he was so
- 27:37Speaker 1: fucking happy. I've never seen that man so happy in
- 27:40Speaker 1: my whole life.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I'm gonna just put it out there. I think he
- 27:43Speaker 2: was trying to hustle me.
- 27:44Speaker 1: He's really good. He was good then, he was good
- 27:46Speaker 1: twenty years ago. He's saying he's not good now.
- 27:48Speaker 2: That's what no, but that's what I'm trying to say,
- 27:50Speaker 2: golf is one of those games. The longer you play it,
- 27:52Speaker 2: the better you are.
- 27:52Speaker 1: At Well, maybe he was just saying he was rusty
- 27:54Speaker 1: or something.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Rusting my ass. He belongs to a country club.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I think Ken really hit that ball of yeah, and.
- 28:01Speaker 2: kN Look Kn's freaking swing was amazing.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Mine was not good. And I remember really feeling nervous
- 28:08Speaker 1: and that the whole crew was watching me, and it
- 28:11Speaker 1: was clearly going to be a joke, like, oh, here
- 28:13Speaker 1: comes the guy. He's not good at sports, and we're
- 28:15Speaker 1: going to be here all day trying to make him
- 28:17Speaker 1: look good. And uh and yeah. It was very uncomfortable
- 28:21Speaker 1: and you're good. Yeah, well, i'll bill Bill cut it
- 28:24Speaker 1: together for me to make me look decent.
- 28:25Speaker 2: It's definitely clear that you don't play golf all the time.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Now, the character didn't donald right, sure, but I was.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I'm very I'm actually I should have told the audience
- 28:33Speaker 1: I'm actually excellent, but JD needed to be shitty.
- 28:37Speaker 2: So what you're really good at now, though, is tennis.
- 28:39Speaker 7: Man.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I'm very impressed with you.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Thank you. I don't know if I'm really good, but
- 28:42Speaker 1: I really love it. I'm having I never was into sports,
- 28:45Speaker 1: and I finally found something that I genuinely love doing
- 28:50Speaker 1: in tennis other than badminton. I can't play badminton, but
- 28:53Speaker 1: I frisbee. I do love to throw a frisbee, but
- 28:56Speaker 1: I but I love tennis. And we have the same
- 28:58Speaker 1: tennis doctor, Chris crab He's amazing. Give him Chris crab
- 29:03Speaker 1: a shout out, even though you can't even get an
- 29:04Speaker 1: appointment with the darn guy very he works a lot.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Also an actor.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Also an actor, he was on a show. Do you
- 29:12Speaker 1: know the name of his Canadian series when he was
- 29:14Speaker 1: a child.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Something Bae Danger Bay, Danger Bay. Yeah, Chris crab Our danger.
- 29:21Speaker 1: By our tennis coach is an actor, but was on
- 29:24Speaker 1: a Canadian series when he was a kid and it
- 29:27Speaker 1: was called Danger Bay. So you danger should all go
- 29:30Speaker 1: watch Danger Bay clips right now on YouTube, not right now,
- 29:33Speaker 1: after this podcast, after the podcast is over. Wait, I
- 29:36Speaker 1: wrote down something. Oh so I'm going backwards a bit,
- 29:39Speaker 1: but there's a reference to he calls me, are you there, God,
- 29:41Speaker 1: it's me Margaret, And that's a Judy Bloom book. Now. Coincidentally,
- 29:46Speaker 1: when I was a child, I was I we had
- 29:49Speaker 1: to do a book report and I just randomly chose
- 29:52Speaker 1: a Judy Bloom book because I liked Judy Bloom and
- 29:55Speaker 1: I chose to do my book report on Are you
- 29:58Speaker 1: there God, it's me Margaret, not realizing at the time
- 30:00Speaker 1: that it's a story about a young girl getting her
- 30:02Speaker 1: period for the first time. And I remember the teacher
- 30:06Speaker 1: saying to my parents, like, you know, he did a
- 30:08Speaker 1: really nice job with the book report, but it's it's
- 30:11Speaker 1: a bit curious that he chose a story about it
- 30:13Speaker 1: a young woman getting her period. But I don't know.
- 30:21Speaker 1: He was an odd ball kid. I was like, Okay,
- 30:23Speaker 1: that's the book report today, Bloom, Are you there, God,
- 30:26Speaker 1: it's to be Margaret. But you know what, it made
- 30:29Speaker 1: me very as a young child. I empathized with what
- 30:33Speaker 1: the girls were going through because I had learned about
- 30:35Speaker 1: it through You should direct.
- 30:36Speaker 2: You should direct and write a movie that's not about
- 30:39Speaker 2: dudes and write a movie about women.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I am Actually the thing I'm writing right now is
- 30:43Speaker 1: about a woman. She's the lead, and I'm not a child.
- 30:47Speaker 1: And it's not the story of a young girl getting
- 30:49Speaker 1: her period. No, but it could change. I don't know.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I didn't say child, I said woman.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I am the protagonist of my of the
- 30:55Speaker 1: thing I'm writing right now is a woman in her
- 30:59Speaker 1: mid twenties. And on that note, we're going to go
- 31:01Speaker 1: to commercial right now, someone's going to sell you something
- 31:04Speaker 1: to go someone.
- 31:13Speaker 2: We're back, Yes, and we are back.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I always wanted to say that. That's the fun thing
- 31:18Speaker 1: about having a podcast. You can say things like we're
- 31:19Speaker 1: back with Donald Faison from Scrums, I'm here with Zach Braff,
- 31:23Speaker 1: Yes Live, coming to you Live from Hollywood. At six
- 31:27Speaker 1: point thirty two, when when Sarah shows her breast to
- 31:30Speaker 1: the little boy, if you if you pause it, the
- 31:33Speaker 1: little boy spikes the lens. Now, for those of you
- 31:35Speaker 1: who don't know this bit of jargon, and this is
- 31:38Speaker 1: gonna sorry, it's gonna ruin film and TV for you now.
- 31:41Speaker 1: So if you don't want film and TV forever to
- 31:43Speaker 1: be ruined for you, mute the next minute. But spiking
- 31:46Speaker 1: the lenses when an actor accidentally looks into the lens
- 31:49Speaker 1: of the camera and not like on purpose. You know,
- 31:51Speaker 1: sometimes the person is looking right into the camera, like
- 31:53Speaker 1: Daris Bueller because he's talking to you. But spike lens
- 31:55Speaker 1: is by accident, and it kind of breaks down that
- 31:58Speaker 1: fourth wall of hey, we're doing this, imagine play for you.
- 32:01Speaker 1: You'll see it all the time with people actors in
- 32:03Speaker 1: the background because they're kind of looking when the camera's
- 32:06Speaker 1: coming near them, and they look directly into the lens.
- 32:08Speaker 1: And actors do it all the time by accident, but
- 32:10Speaker 1: it's usually edited out. But I noticed that this little
- 32:13Speaker 1: boy who should be looking at Sarah's breast looks at
- 32:16Speaker 1: the camera directly into the lens when it passes. So there.
- 32:19Speaker 2: I don't think Sarah really showed him his breast, And no,
- 32:21Speaker 2: of course not he lens.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Yeah, she had. I think she had a beige band
- 32:26Speaker 1: or something, and that was probably.
- 32:29Speaker 2: That was his moment of like I thought I would
- 32:30Speaker 2: go see some pities.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're saying in protests, he spiked the lens.
- 32:34Speaker 1: He ruined, He ruined the shot in protest, I was
- 32:38Speaker 1: told when I got this part, I'd be seeing Sarah
- 32:40Speaker 1: Chalk's breast. I just wanted to do a little I
- 32:43Speaker 1: think it's good to give people a little some some
- 32:45Speaker 1: filmmaking jargon as we go. So now you know the
- 32:48Speaker 1: term spiking the lens.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Or breaking the fourth wall. Yes, I love the fact
- 32:51Speaker 2: that in that scene, Turk is talking about what gift
- 32:55Speaker 2: am I going to get my new girlfriend, and he
- 32:58Speaker 2: thinks flowers and he thinks chalk, and those are very cliche,
- 33:02Speaker 2: especially for you know, beginning the beginning of a relationship
- 33:06Speaker 2: later on, flowers are like the little things. And if
- 33:08Speaker 2: you can bring flowers to the table at any point.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Does your wife like getting flowers from your loves flowers?
- 33:16Speaker 2: She thinks, but not necessarily for anniversaries and stuff like that.
- 33:19Speaker 2: They're great gifts. But if you can just brighten the
- 33:22Speaker 2: house with some flowers, right, I don't know about just
- 33:26Speaker 2: not just women, men, kids, anyone. It really does brighten
- 33:31Speaker 2: up a room when you walk into a room and
- 33:32Speaker 2: there's some form of flower growth.
- 33:36Speaker 1: In of course, flower growth. Now you're saying, but when
- 33:39Speaker 1: you do you ever come home before we were in
- 33:42Speaker 1: isolation and just surprise your wife with flowers.
- 33:45Speaker 2: I did that a couple of times, a couple of times,
- 33:47Speaker 2: a couple of times, and when done correctly, well, you
- 33:52Speaker 2: know you can't do it all the time. Well you
- 33:53Speaker 2: can't do it all the time, but.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Married a long time you might want to crank it
- 33:56Speaker 1: up more than a couple I do.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Listen, after isolation, I'm telling you right now, now you're
- 34:01Speaker 2: gonna do It's like it's like isolation has been like, uh,
- 34:06Speaker 2: you know, I'm gonna work out tomorrow. After tomorrow, I'm
- 34:09Speaker 2: gonna be working out every day once isolation's over, I'm
- 34:11Speaker 2: gonna do everything I possibly can to make my wife happy.
- 34:14Speaker 2: But right now, ship, do.
- 34:18Speaker 1: You guys go and have like time apart other than
- 34:21Speaker 1: doing the podcast in your closets? Do you guys find
- 34:23Speaker 1: a way to be separated? Because once Bill told me.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Bill told me that christ to set up a guest
- 34:28Speaker 1: bedroom in the house and said that's your office and
- 34:31Speaker 1: you're gonna be there nine to five.
- 34:33Speaker 2: That would be awesome. I would love one of those.
- 34:37Speaker 1: So you guys are just together.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we have two very young children. You have
- 34:42Speaker 2: to be together.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Casey posted the cutest picture I've ever seen in my
- 34:45Speaker 1: entire life, which was while they're doing yoga's she was
- 34:51Speaker 1: in her like meditative state doing doing zoom yoga. That
- 34:54Speaker 1: was the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life.
- 34:55Speaker 2: She's all about that yoga.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I need children because I'm I'm like, I look at
- 34:59Speaker 1: your kids and I go, I need a kid doing yoga.
- 35:02Speaker 1: That's the cutest thing I've ever seen.
- 35:04Speaker 2: In the breakroom, Turk's talking about what type of gift
- 35:06Speaker 2: he's gonna get her, and he finally decides he's gonna
- 35:09Speaker 2: get her a pin, and I remember right then and there,
- 35:12Speaker 2: I was like, oh my god, this is the ass
- 35:15Speaker 2: pin episode. Oh my god, this is I love the
- 35:21Speaker 2: ass pin concept.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Yeah, so much so.
- 35:25Speaker 2: I literally the smile on my face when I when
- 35:28Speaker 2: I realized this was the asspin episode was huge. It
- 35:32Speaker 2: was like guy Smiley big. But then it got even
- 35:34Speaker 2: bigger when after Turk realizes he's given Caller an ass pin,
- 35:42Speaker 2: Todd notices that he has an ass chain around his neck,
- 35:49Speaker 2: and not only does he smell it does smell yeah,
- 35:52Speaker 2: but he also is like, oh wow, this has been
- 35:55Speaker 2: in another person's ass makes me very happy.
- 35:59Speaker 1: The thing about Todd that is already getting filtered in
- 36:02Speaker 1: is that he's he's very you know, he's the Todd
- 36:07Speaker 1: of course, but I think we learned kind of early
- 36:09Speaker 1: on that he's down for anything.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Like anything.
- 36:12Speaker 1: He is open to obviously men and women. He's fluid
- 36:19Speaker 1: in that sense. But also we learned later he's very
- 36:22Speaker 1: attracted to seniors. I think it eventually we learned that,
- 36:24Speaker 1: and also and monkeys. He's not an agist and monkeys
- 36:29Speaker 1: what do you mean monkeys?
- 36:31Speaker 2: Where is said monkey?
- 36:34Speaker 1: By the way, we're jumping ahead. We're jumping ahead. But
- 36:37Speaker 1: I think one of the funniest times I ever laughed
- 36:39Speaker 1: in nine years was when we're in the break room
- 36:43Speaker 1: and Rob is, uh no, no, no, it's we're we're
- 36:48Speaker 1: in the room where we would sleep, where doctors would sleep,
- 36:52Speaker 1: and I think Satura and I were hooking up. I
- 36:54Speaker 1: forgot what the story was. We'll get to that episode.
- 36:56Speaker 1: But Rob comes down and he goes sometimes when I'm
- 37:00Speaker 1: in this mattress, I imagine I'm banging that one. So
- 37:06Speaker 1: dirty for a half hour TV comedy.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Anyway, were very dirty.
- 37:10Speaker 1: So Rob as I guess establishing that he someone gave
- 37:14Speaker 1: him the chain from the ass box, and he likes.
- 37:16Speaker 2: No, he took the chain from the ass box. The
- 37:19Speaker 2: ass box.
- 37:19Speaker 1: That's your analysis, because why is he surprised? Then?
- 37:22Speaker 2: No, So Todd and Turk thought they found the Lost
- 37:25Speaker 2: and Found. Oh god, and in the Lost and Found
- 37:28Speaker 2: were a bunch of items got it and they were
- 37:31Speaker 2: like holy shit, And Todd was like, yo, there's a
- 37:33Speaker 2: gold chain in here.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Gold chain I didn't turns out was somebody's in a
- 37:39Speaker 1: watch real quick because I happened to be there. I
- 37:40Speaker 1: want to see if he actually sniffs it.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Please, I hope he sniffs it. Please sniff it, Rob,
- 37:45Speaker 2: please sniff it.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Okay, he's looking, he sees the chain in the ass,
- 37:49Speaker 1: he takes it out. No, he just looks and smiles
- 37:52Speaker 1: a snack calls your fucking lie.
- 37:56Speaker 2: But it's still funny.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I bet you. He did a take where he sniffed
- 37:59Speaker 1: and Bill was like no.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Bill was like, no way, that's not making in the show,
- 38:02Speaker 2: but still very funny.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Now when when Steadman we're jumping around, but when stead
- 38:07Speaker 1: doctor Stedman says I'm woozy on the golf course, it
- 38:10Speaker 1: made me think of you because we once went to
- 38:13Speaker 1: Cabo from my birthday and you were day drinking. Donald
- 38:17Speaker 1: was a lot like a like a puppy in that
- 38:20Speaker 1: he'll go super hard, super hard, super hard, and then
- 38:22Speaker 1: he needs a nap. And we were in Cabo for
- 38:25Speaker 1: my birthday and he's like we're raging and day drinking
- 38:28Speaker 1: and just the pool and then he's like down for
- 38:30Speaker 1: the count up in our suite and I was like,
- 38:33Speaker 1: where's Donald. I go up there and I try and
- 38:35Speaker 1: try and wake you up, and you go I'm woozy.
- 38:39Speaker 2: You were with your brother too.
- 38:41Speaker 1: My brother thought it was the funniest fucking thing. He
- 38:43Speaker 1: talks about all the time. He's like, remember when Donald
- 38:45Speaker 1: said he was woozy? Like, who says they're woozy? You
- 38:48Speaker 1: could have easily said, Bro, I'm tired, I'll be out
- 38:50Speaker 1: in a little bit. You were like, I'm woozy.
- 38:52Speaker 2: I was drunk as can the dude.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's funny, though. I laughed. I heard I heard
- 38:58Speaker 1: Steedman Sam woozy And sorry remembering my brother and I
- 39:01Speaker 1: laughing for fucking months about you yelling that you were woozy.
- 39:05Speaker 2: One of my favorite, one of my favorite stories of
- 39:07Speaker 2: you and your brothers. Are you guys sneaking And we
- 39:10Speaker 2: still use this to this day. You guys sneaking into
- 39:12Speaker 2: the house late at night, right drunk out of your mind.
- 39:16Speaker 1: I think we might have had some of God's lettuce
- 39:18Speaker 1: as well.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Okay, so you might have had some of the green
- 39:20Speaker 2: lettuce that God grows.
- 39:22Speaker 1: On this earth, God's favorite lettuce.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and your brother taking his pointer finger and sticking
- 39:28Speaker 2: it up your butt and we're walking. Yeah, you guys
- 39:32Speaker 2: are walking up the stairs and he's behind you and
- 39:35Speaker 2: he sticks it up your butt and you turn around
- 39:37Speaker 2: and go, dude, too deep.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we were we were trying. We were trying to
- 39:42Speaker 1: be quiet, and we were like very silly and giggling,
- 39:45Speaker 1: and we're walking up the stairs. We didn't want to
- 39:47Speaker 1: wake up my parents. And he you know, he put
- 39:49Speaker 1: his finger like you know, I had clothes on. It
- 39:51Speaker 1: wasn't like he went in my butt, but he like
- 39:53Speaker 1: tried to jab my my pooh hole and uh and
- 39:57Speaker 1: and I turned around and went dude, too deep. And
- 40:01Speaker 1: we laughed about that. We laughed about that forever because
- 40:04Speaker 1: it wasn't like it wasn't like I was saying, bro
- 40:06Speaker 1: fucking stop. I was like, no, just that, not that far. Yeah,
- 40:13Speaker 1: too deep has been a very long running joke in
- 40:16Speaker 1: my whole family forever. Too Deep.
- 40:19Speaker 2: That's one of my favorites I wanted to talk about.
- 40:28Speaker 2: In this episode, they introduced the fact that Turk is
- 40:31Speaker 2: a man of faith. Yes, and it's just right and
- 40:35Speaker 2: the crosses out and everything like that. And I remember
- 40:37Speaker 2: Bill coming up to me and saying, you know what,
- 40:39Speaker 2: we want to establish that you are a man of
- 40:43Speaker 2: faith so that when the Christmas episode comes up, we
- 40:47Speaker 2: have this whole storyline for you when the Christmas episode
- 40:49Speaker 2: comes up, and while watching this this is also this
- 40:53Speaker 2: all goes away after the Christmas episode, So they lead
- 40:58Speaker 2: up to this. They did all of all of this
- 41:00Speaker 2: stuff where Turk is a man of faith for the
- 41:02Speaker 2: next couple of episodes until we get to the Christmas episode.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Just I didn't that's what? Yeah? Did you notice when
- 41:09Speaker 1: you when you when you do get to the scene
- 41:10Speaker 1: with Carla setting up candles in the house sixteen fifty four,
- 41:14Speaker 1: it's a lot of a lot of candles. I mean,
- 41:15Speaker 1: she's really it's kind of a fire hazard. The woman
- 41:18Speaker 1: has set up far too many candles.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Yeap. Have you ever been in a room with candles
- 41:22Speaker 2: like that in real life?
- 41:23Speaker 4: No?
- 41:23Speaker 1: I only know only like I mean, I've been in
- 41:27Speaker 1: rooms where you set up a few candles because you're
- 41:29Speaker 1: trying to be romantic, but never Judy. It looked like
- 41:31Speaker 1: a music video set for boys to men.
- 41:34Speaker 2: I'll make love to you like you ow me too,
- 41:39Speaker 2: and I'll hold you time. That's such a cripulus baby
- 41:44Speaker 2: all through the night, I oh make.
- 41:53Speaker 1: But you guys can't see it. But Joelle is swaying
- 41:55Speaker 1: like a fangirl in the front row, like she's just
- 41:57Speaker 1: shy of holding up a lighter.
- 42:00Speaker 2: They don't hold up lighters anymore. They hold up cell phones.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Oh, their phones. They hold up their phones.
- 42:03Speaker 2: They're now cell phones.
- 42:05Speaker 1: So I just thought that was funny. Like, first of all,
- 42:07Speaker 1: candles are very expensive, right, so carl.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Yeah, where does she get all the set Carlo carlon candles?
- 42:12Speaker 1: This is before Amazon, Carla went candle shopping.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so like Yankee Doodle whatever, that whatever, those who
- 42:19Speaker 2: is the candle shop name? I don't know if it's
- 42:20Speaker 2: still around Yankee Doodle is that it?
- 42:23Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 42:24Speaker 2: The scented candles, I don't know.
- 42:25Speaker 1: But she went nuts, and frankly, I just don't think
- 42:28Speaker 1: it's very safe. I mean, if you guys are gonna
- 42:29Speaker 1: go yes, Dan saying it's Yankee candle.
- 42:31Speaker 2: It's Yankee candle, Yankee candle.
- 42:34Speaker 1: So you guys are gonna get busy, and then I'm
- 42:35Speaker 1: just worried, just safety wise. You're gonna go in the
- 42:37Speaker 1: other room and bump buglies and then we're gonna be left.
- 42:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna be left in a fire hazard of an
- 42:42Speaker 1: apartment because there's nine hundred candles lit.
- 42:44Speaker 2: I imagine there's also candles in the other room.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Listen. If you're listening to this, I don't want your
- 42:48Speaker 1: house to burn down. Let's say you light candles in
- 42:50Speaker 1: the living room and you're romancing your partner. Before you
- 42:53Speaker 1: go do it in your in your bedroom, please blow
- 42:56Speaker 1: out all your candles in the main room. This has
- 42:58Speaker 1: been a public service announcement from Zach and Donald. Only
- 43:01Speaker 1: you at seventeen twenty nine. There's that super dark fantasy,
- 43:06Speaker 1: I mean, so appropriate for the healthcare debate that's going
- 43:10Speaker 1: on in our country now, But that's super dark fantasy
- 43:13Speaker 1: of Kelso manning the supermarket cash register and just checking
- 43:16Speaker 1: out and charging old people, and then I whip out
- 43:19Speaker 1: the body bag. I mean, I love that Bill did that.
- 43:22Speaker 1: It's just really amazing, just satire, but it was like
- 43:26Speaker 1: so dark, especially now, I was just like, this is
- 43:29Speaker 1: so smart and also so fucked up and true.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very true.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Did you notice that eighteen and oh six that Rowdy
- 43:36Speaker 1: has a food bowl. I never knew that Rowdy had
- 43:38Speaker 1: a ball. In the background of the scene with you
- 43:41Speaker 1: and Judy in the corner, a little easter egg for
- 43:44Speaker 1: you guys, there's Rowdy not only has a bull, but
- 43:46Speaker 1: he has food. We bought food for the dead dog.
- 43:48Speaker 2: That's crazy, that's wrong with us, That's what I'm telling you.
- 43:50Speaker 2: That's the oddest storyline throughout the whole series. The rowdy
- 43:55Speaker 2: storyline is just so freaking weird. Dude, Like, we bought
- 43:59Speaker 2: a dead dog food. Yeah, dead, and and we make
- 44:02Speaker 2: the dead dog hump.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Did you know that he had a ball?
- 44:06Speaker 2: I didn't know that. I forgot all about that. Also,
- 44:09Speaker 2: before we go that far, I wanted to talk about
- 44:11Speaker 2: the bar. Yeah, that bar is only there for the
- 44:14Speaker 2: first season, if I'm correct.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Yeah, now, I think you're right, and.
- 44:17Speaker 2: That is not in urgent care either. That's also that
- 44:21Speaker 2: was actual, an actual bar that we used to film in.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and it was a big pain in the ass
- 44:26Speaker 1: to go there because you know, when you leave, when
- 44:28Speaker 1: we left the hospital, we were a big footprint with
- 44:30Speaker 1: a very large crew, and it always going to locations
- 44:32Speaker 1: was a big deal. Like I think we spent the
- 44:34Speaker 1: full day on that golf course, but going to the bar.
- 44:37Speaker 1: They wanted to use the bar so much and going
- 44:39Speaker 1: there with such a pain in the ass that that's
- 44:40Speaker 1: why I believe it was second season. They built the
- 44:43Speaker 1: bar set.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Into the hospital, into the hospital, So this is.
- 44:47Speaker 1: One of the time. This is one of the one
- 44:48Speaker 1: of the bar scenes that was in an actual bar.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Also a little Scrubs trivia go on. I don't have
- 44:53Speaker 2: the answer for it. What country club was it that
- 44:56Speaker 2: you guys were playing golf at?
- 44:58Speaker 1: I have no idea exactly. I have no idea.
- 45:01Speaker 2: These are things that I would be very interested in
- 45:03Speaker 2: right now because I love playing golf.
- 45:05Speaker 1: So as a golfer, did you go who nice course?
- 45:08Speaker 1: I'd like to play it right away. As soon as
- 45:10Speaker 1: I saw it, I was like, what country club is that?
- 45:12Speaker 1: What golf course is that I want to play there? Okay, well,
- 45:14Speaker 1: i'll bet you we can find out. We'll do.
- 45:16Speaker 2: I've been very lucky to play on some really cool
- 45:20Speaker 2: golf courses. I got to play Sherwood once.
- 45:22Speaker 1: I think they're kind of obnoxious if I can. I
- 45:24Speaker 1: I guess this is controversial to say to a golfer,
- 45:27Speaker 1: but Los Angeles is filled with so many damn golf clubs.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm gonna tell you something right now. There
- 45:33Speaker 2: is beautiful, packed.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Beautiful land that you'd be shared with the people. I'm
- 45:38Speaker 1: just saying. Sometimes I'm driving around town and I go wow,
- 45:42Speaker 1: and then there's like a hole in the in the
- 45:43Speaker 1: in the chain link fence, and I go, oh my god,
- 45:45Speaker 1: look how beautiful it is in there, and we're not
- 45:48Speaker 1: allowed to use it. I'm just pissed.
- 45:50Speaker 2: I'm the complete opposite of you. I'll drive around town
- 45:53Speaker 2: and I'll see an open field and I'd be like,
- 45:55Speaker 2: is that a golf course?
- 45:56Speaker 1: Yeah, because you like to play, and you get invited
- 45:59Speaker 1: because you're you to play on fancy courses at'll bit.
- 46:01Speaker 2: I love playing golf.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Let's talk about the Star Wars fantasy, because I think
- 46:05Speaker 1: that it's a very special moment. This is a tricky
- 46:08Speaker 1: thing because when you're gonna you're allowed to parody something,
- 46:11Speaker 1: it's laws and copyrights. It's called fair use if you're
- 46:15Speaker 1: if you're truly doing a parody. That's how SNL is
- 46:18Speaker 1: allowed to do whatever they want and and other things
- 46:21Speaker 1: that that are doing parody. But I remember there were
- 46:23Speaker 1: lots of weird rules like to you know, like that
- 46:27Speaker 1: had to be medically inspired. That's why when you cut
- 46:31Speaker 1: twenty twenty six and you cut to the girls with
- 46:33Speaker 1: the buns in their hair, there had to be like
- 46:35Speaker 1: medical supplies in their hair. I didn't really think that
- 46:37Speaker 1: made sense, but but the lawyers had found a way
- 46:40Speaker 1: to tiptoe around it and be able to do it.
- 46:42Speaker 1: If we were we were doing a quote unquote medical
- 46:45Speaker 1: parody of Star Wars. You know what I mean.
- 46:48Speaker 2: I didn't understand that. I didn't understand why they had
- 46:50Speaker 2: all of those things in their hands. Yeah, but the
- 46:52Speaker 2: scrubs enough was us being in scrubs was enough for
- 46:56Speaker 2: it to be you know what I mean, Like I
- 46:58Speaker 2: had a vest and a shirt underneath, and you know,
- 47:03Speaker 2: I thought that was if you notice, all of our
- 47:05Speaker 2: outfits were scrubs based, so I thought that would be
- 47:07Speaker 2: enough for.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Well, the girls, the girls like they're in in real scrubs,
- 47:12Speaker 1: whereas your outfit and mine are altered, like I'm I've
- 47:16Speaker 1: got like the I've got like the cross in whatever
- 47:18Speaker 1: you call my scrubs have been altered. And uh, I
- 47:21Speaker 1: don't think that's my hair.
- 47:22Speaker 2: That must be a wig, right, that's not yeah, but
- 47:23Speaker 2: this was yeah, and that's definitely not My hair really.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Looks like it's yours. You wish you had that hair,
- 47:29Speaker 1: by the way, you look so good with that hair.
- 47:31Speaker 2: I mean I would look I'm telling you, Billy d Williams,
- 47:34Speaker 2: watch out, baby, if I had that hair or.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Wait, I know you had Solo. You're you supposed to
- 47:38Speaker 1: be Solo or Lando.
- 47:39Speaker 2: I'm supposed to be Han Solo. But Eric Ostrado eats
- 47:42Speaker 2: your heart out when I got hair like that.
- 47:44Speaker 1: You do look good with that hair. You know. We
- 47:46Speaker 1: did us chips photo shoot that you can see on
- 47:49Speaker 1: the interwebs if you're curious. It was for some magazine,
- 47:51Speaker 1: I think Entertainment Weekly or something, and they they had
- 47:55Speaker 1: a wig on you and you looked glorious.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I'd love that. I look like Bruno Mars and Eric Gestrata.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I like this, and I have it frozen on
- 48:02Speaker 1: your on your wig. You look great. I couldn't remember
- 48:05Speaker 1: if you were supposed to be Lando or supposed to
- 48:06Speaker 1: be Han Solo.
- 48:07Speaker 2: But now I was Han Solo. That's why the easy
- 48:09Speaker 2: chewy line. But also this was the year we went
- 48:10Speaker 2: to the Playboy Mansion for Halloween and I wore that
- 48:14Speaker 2: same wig because I tried to be Han Solo at
- 48:16Speaker 2: the Playboy Mansion. And I remember people walking up to
- 48:19Speaker 2: me like, yo, who are you supposed to be? And
- 48:21Speaker 2: I was like, I'm Han Solo.
- 48:22Speaker 1: I don't ever remember, I barely remember. I remember we
- 48:25Speaker 1: went to the Playboy mansion.
- 48:26Speaker 2: And you dressed up as as a bafire.
- 48:29Speaker 1: I was that's not very creative, and I was Han solo.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Did you remember liking mansion or do you remember thinking like, oh,
- 48:35Speaker 1: it's not exactly what I daydreamed it would be.
- 48:38Speaker 2: It was not what I imagined it was.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, I remember thinking it was it was
- 48:41Speaker 1: a little bit long in the tooth. It didn't. It didn't.
- 48:44Speaker 1: It's one of those things where it's like, it's better
- 48:47Speaker 1: to just imagine what it would be like in your
- 48:49Speaker 1: in your dreams.
- 48:49Speaker 2: The fantasy was definitely better than the reality.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Of Yeah, there were lots of benefits on the show,
- 48:55Speaker 1: and you could be like, hey, can I get a
- 48:57Speaker 1: go to a hair and makeup? Hey can I get
- 48:58Speaker 1: a haircut? You gotta carry? Hey can I in a
- 49:00Speaker 1: Halloween costume?
- 49:01Speaker 2: Or Hey, I'm going to be on a show this week?
- 49:03Speaker 2: Can you give me a outfit to wear when I
- 49:06Speaker 2: walk out?
- 49:06Speaker 1: But look at you, look at your background. You have
- 49:08Speaker 1: no shortage of outfits.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Back there, Donald, this is all my wife's clothes, Believe
- 49:12Speaker 2: it or not. Yeah, what you're seeing behind me is
- 49:14Speaker 2: actually my wife's stuff. The stuff over here is mine.
- 49:17Speaker 2: On the left side, that's mine And those are golf shirts.
- 49:20Speaker 2: A lot of p XG golf shirts.
- 49:22Speaker 6: Oh my god, I'm just saying, oh, hey, we have
- 49:33Speaker 6: a caller, Laurie Hi.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.
- 49:37Speaker 2: No, you're per you just in time. We almost ended
- 49:40Speaker 2: the show.
- 49:40Speaker 1: We almost ended the show, Laurie.
- 49:42Speaker 2: We almost ended the show without you, without.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Lori no, no, but without Hi, Laurie Hi.
- 49:48Speaker 2: It's so great.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Where are you from? Where are you calling from the Caribbean?
- 49:56Speaker 2: The show selector Come down Donald?
- 49:59Speaker 1: The show was officially international. Now it really is. It's big.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Are you wearing scrubs?
- 50:05Speaker 6: I sure am?
- 50:06Speaker 1: Oh are you what? Are you a doctor? Nursa?
- 50:08Speaker 2: What do you do?
- 50:09Speaker 1: I'm a photographer?
- 50:10Speaker 2: But oh you just love you just wore scrubsh do
- 50:12Speaker 2: you worm?
- 50:13Speaker 1: For the podcast?
- 50:14Speaker 2: I was thinking, nobody's going to see that, you know that,
- 50:15Speaker 2: right you we'll see it. Well, we saw it, and
- 50:18Speaker 2: I like that they're green too. I appreciate you.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you Louri for coming on the podcast and
- 50:25Speaker 1: tell us what your question is.
- 50:26Speaker 7: So in the series, I think, I mean, you'll always
- 50:29Speaker 7: balance between super heavy things as well as really light,
- 50:33Speaker 7: but there are two truly like super heavy episodes. It's
- 50:37Speaker 7: my Fallen Idol where Cox lost the three pass after
- 50:41Speaker 7: getting transforms from Jill Tracy and my screw up with
- 50:44Speaker 7: the big just ending spoilers with Ben dying at the end,
- 50:49Speaker 7: and I was just wondering which one was your favorite,
- 50:51Speaker 7: because it's pretty difficult to choose.
- 50:53Speaker 1: I think, Wow, I'm going to be really lame and
- 50:55Speaker 1: admit that I got goosebumps when you said that, because
- 50:59Speaker 1: I have to to have been dying, just because I
- 51:02Speaker 1: think one of the most talked about things in Scrubb's
- 51:05Speaker 1: history was that moment the funeral with where do you
- 51:07Speaker 1: think we are? And where do you think we are?
- 51:11Speaker 1: And then Josh Raden's song Winter Coming on. I just
- 51:15Speaker 1: think that that was just so moving and Cox, who's
- 51:18Speaker 1: always such a strong alpha on top of it all,
- 51:22Speaker 1: finally getting to see him grieve and feel pain. And
- 51:26Speaker 1: I think Johnny's performance in that was was incredibly moving.
- 51:30Speaker 1: What about you Donald?
- 51:32Speaker 2: You know, I do like the episode where Cox loses
- 51:35Speaker 2: three patients because at first he's trying to pitch a
- 51:38Speaker 2: no hitter, and that's what we all think is gonna happen,
- 51:41Speaker 2: is that he's gonna you know, you know, we even
- 51:45Speaker 2: use the reference in the show where you know, you
- 51:48Speaker 2: don't talk to him about what's going on because he's
- 51:50Speaker 2: in the zone. And then at the end of the
- 51:53Speaker 2: episode he loses If I'm am I correct, Laurie, I'm
- 51:58Speaker 2: correct about this, right, Laurie. All three die, but he
- 52:01Speaker 2: is in the zone, and he does feel like he's
- 52:03Speaker 2: gonna save all three of them, two right before it
- 52:06Speaker 2: all goes down, right right right.
- 52:08Speaker 7: Right before and like the two die and anyone who's
- 52:11Speaker 7: his actual friend, he gets like the page and that's
- 52:14Speaker 7: when he's like losing it and that I mean, I'm
- 52:17Speaker 7: a super frequent and comes to scribs, but that's right
- 52:19Speaker 7: after the episode.
- 52:20Speaker 2: She's a super freak when it comes to scrubs.
- 52:25Speaker 7: That's right after the episode where Joel Tracy dies on
- 52:28Speaker 7: himself out because he's like, I could have saved her,
- 52:30Speaker 7: and Coxton John says, if you let yourself feel like that,
- 52:34Speaker 7: that's the end. And Jade John talks.
- 52:36Speaker 2: That and he's like, yep, you know more about the show.
- 52:40Speaker 1: I love Superman. I love super fans like that. I
- 52:43Speaker 1: love it. I think it's so cool. Yeah, Donald and
- 52:45Speaker 1: I do not know nearly. That's it's a good thing.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Though, connection that's amazing.
- 52:50Speaker 1: It's amazing And I really love your accent. It's amazing.
- 52:52Speaker 7: I never realized I had one, But Colt, I you know, I.
- 52:56Speaker 2: I gotta be honest with you. Anytime John c McGinley
- 52:59Speaker 2: has the opportunity unity to do sad drama, it's always good.
- 53:03Speaker 2: And so you know, when Ben dies and when the
- 53:06Speaker 2: three patients die and you see him wig out and
- 53:09Speaker 2: lose it, it's always good. So if you're asking me,
- 53:14Speaker 2: if you're asking me which one I liked better, h
- 53:17Speaker 2: I do. I'm gonna be honest with you. I do
- 53:19Speaker 2: like the one with Brendan Fraser in it. One because
- 53:22Speaker 2: Brendan Fraser was in it, and two because this is
- 53:26Speaker 2: Cox so far off the rails, you know what I
- 53:28Speaker 2: mean That he's hallucinating and he's imagining things and he
- 53:32Speaker 2: loved this man so much. And this is the only
- 53:34Speaker 2: person you know, that we ever see him love that
- 53:37Speaker 2: much where it breaks his heart and breaks him down.
- 53:40Speaker 2: So that definitely is one of the episodes that I
- 53:43Speaker 2: feel is our most.
- 53:46Speaker 1: It hits hard, you know, it's so well done. It's
- 53:48Speaker 1: just done so perfectly.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that one. And when Glenn Turman was on the show.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Yes, I forgot his character name, but he's the one
- 53:56Speaker 1: that he's the older black man that Donald and I
- 53:58Speaker 1: are trying to keep alive, and we sit by his bedside. Yeah, George, God,
- 54:02Speaker 1: you're good. He's a wonderful actor and he that's one
- 54:06Speaker 1: of my favorite episodes. Actually, all right, do you have
- 54:09Speaker 1: another question? Laurie?
- 54:10Speaker 7: I have my friend who's the real reason that I
- 54:13Speaker 7: even got through to do this. It should be on
- 54:15Speaker 7: it because she won't ask the question.
- 54:18Speaker 2: I don't know where she is.
- 54:20Speaker 1: To call her a millionaireaire friend?
- 54:27Speaker 2: Do you want to use a lifeline?
- 54:29Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 54:30Speaker 7: Hold on, I'm telling her to click the link in
- 54:32Speaker 7: the email.
- 54:35Speaker 2: What is the question?
- 54:36Speaker 1: Another question?
- 54:37Speaker 2: If you don't have another legendary Donald?
- 54:40Speaker 1: You mean anything? Wow?
- 54:43Speaker 7: What I actually wanted to do really badly?
- 54:46Speaker 1: He was. I don't know.
- 54:47Speaker 7: If you're on Instagram. In people's stories, they have those
- 54:49Speaker 7: templates where it's like this or that.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I have a ton of them with scrubs.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 54:56Speaker 7: Yes, do you prefer my pilot or my finale? The
- 55:00Speaker 7: real finale? Se isn't it.
- 55:04Speaker 2: My pilot that was the jump off?
- 55:07Speaker 1: Yeah? My pilot is the moment that our lives changed.
- 55:09Speaker 1: So I think we'll always have a soft spot in
- 55:11Speaker 1: our heart for that.
- 55:12Speaker 7: Do you prefer Mammy Moore's characters, Jati's girlfriends? What spunks
- 55:16Speaker 7: character as Jade's girlfriend?
- 55:18Speaker 1: Oh? Wow, that's a tough one. I loved them both.
- 55:22Speaker 1: But since Mandy was my real life girlfriend at the time,
- 55:25Speaker 1: I'll say Mandy because that was really cool that it
- 55:28Speaker 1: was very well. It was also really a cool to
- 55:30Speaker 1: Avaron at the time because uh, you know, it's it
- 55:33Speaker 1: was fun to act with my girlfriend at the time
- 55:35Speaker 1: and she. I thought Mandy did a great job.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Also, I also loved Mandy on the show. But I
- 55:39Speaker 2: really liked Elizabeth Banks also on the show. I was
- 55:42Speaker 2: a huge fan of forty year Old Virgin and the
- 55:44Speaker 2: character she played in forty year Old Virgin, and I
- 55:46Speaker 2: thought that was you know, I thought it was cool that,
- 55:49Speaker 2: you know, she was on the show.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Sure, all right, go ahead, last one, Laurie, because we were.
- 55:54Speaker 2: No two more, you get two more?
- 55:57Speaker 6: Okay?
- 55:58Speaker 7: Oh, this is so difficult. Do you prefer trusty bottoms
- 56:02Speaker 7: or clickie tops fence?
- 56:04Speaker 1: Oh, I'm a clickie top guy. I love to nervously,
- 56:06Speaker 1: nervously clickie click clickie top.
- 56:09Speaker 7: And this one's really for Donald. But did you prefer
- 56:14Speaker 7: your Neil Diamond impression or your eraon navelimpression.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Neil Diamond, Because I love Neil Diamond.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Come on, give us a little.
- 56:20Speaker 2: When I was a kid, I used to listen to
- 56:23Speaker 2: in between watching Voltron and Transformers on w p i
- 56:28Speaker 2: X in New York City. They would always play the
- 56:31Speaker 2: best of Neil Diamond, and that's how I learned about
- 56:34Speaker 2: who Neil Diamond was. I don't know any of his
- 56:37Speaker 2: songs full all the way through. I only know snippets.
- 56:41Speaker 2: So it's like everywhere around New World. They come into
- 56:47Speaker 2: America and then love on the rocks and no surprise,
- 56:54Speaker 2: and then when was the other one turn on? Yeah,
- 57:00Speaker 2: hard light.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Did you ever see the movie he made? I think
- 57:03Speaker 1: it was The Jazz.
- 57:04Speaker 2: Yeah, he's in blackface in that movie, dude, at one
- 57:06Speaker 2: point he's in blackface in that movie. Neil Diamond is
- 57:09Speaker 2: in blackface in that movie.
- 57:11Speaker 1: I didn't know. Don't yell at me. I didn't make them.
- 57:12Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 57:13Speaker 2: I'm just putting it out there.
- 57:14Speaker 1: Not only I wrote it.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Here's a great here's something great that I loved about
- 57:18Speaker 2: doing Scrubs and my love for Neil Diamond, the Transformers
- 57:24Speaker 2: more than meets the eye, keep going transfer the Transformers
- 57:32Speaker 2: robots in disguise.
- 57:34Speaker 1: So if you've ever asked, if you ever anyone ever
- 57:36Speaker 1: asked you, have you ever heard an impression of Neil
- 57:39Speaker 1: Diamond singing the.
- 57:40Speaker 2: Bot's face their batter to destroy the evil forces of
- 57:47Speaker 2: the Decepticons, who more than meets all right?
- 57:51Speaker 1: All right, all right, all right, all right. Addition, Laurie,
- 57:55Speaker 1: thank you, you're the best, and thanks for being such
- 57:57Speaker 1: a big fan of ours.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Thank you for wearing scrubs, thank you, and thank you
- 58:01Speaker 2: for the scrubs being green.
- 58:04Speaker 1: Donald, I think that's the episode.
- 58:06Speaker 2: That is the episode.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Wait, I mean is there anything after Star Wars. Let's see,
- 58:09Speaker 1: I'm scrolling the janitor pushes me over.
- 58:11Speaker 2: No, well, actually, let's talk about the reveal you know,
- 58:15Speaker 2: you finally realize and doctor Cox this will go on
- 58:18Speaker 2: for the next few episodes where doctor Cox figures out
- 58:21Speaker 2: a way to come back to the hospital and uh
- 58:25Speaker 2: and uh work even though he's suspended, right, and he
- 58:28Speaker 2: uses if I'm correct, he uses JD as his liaison.
- 58:33Speaker 1: I don't remember, but nice pronunciation of liaison. I like
- 58:35Speaker 1: you put a little French on it, no doubt. Listen,
- 58:37Speaker 1: I miss you so much. I do.
- 58:40Speaker 2: I totally miss you. In the words of Tenacious D, Dude,
- 58:42Speaker 2: I totally miss you.
- 58:44Speaker 1: That's Tenacious D. Absolutely do you know how is it
- 58:47Speaker 1: a song?
- 58:48Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, I totally miss you. Dude, I totally miss you. Dude,
- 58:53Speaker 2: I totally miss you.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Do I do miss you. And and it's Friday night
- 58:58Speaker 1: here in Los Angeles, and man, I wish that we
- 59:00Speaker 1: were headed to a fun restaurant to have drinks with
- 59:03Speaker 1: our gals and have long hugs.
- 59:07Speaker 2: And chest and fun and laughter, fun and laughter.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Casey Cobb, Donald's wife coined that phrase.
- 59:12Speaker 2: She said, well, she didn't coin it. She don't get
- 59:14Speaker 2: paid when people say it.
- 59:15Speaker 1: No, that's copyrighted. But she was always like, y'all want
- 59:18Speaker 1: to get together for fun and laughter. That is that
- 59:21Speaker 1: is her saying, Donald, do you want to lead us
- 59:26Speaker 1: in gratitude and thanks this week?
- 59:29Speaker 2: I am so thankful for so many things right now. One,
- 59:33Speaker 2: the healthcare community out there, and the doctors and the
- 59:39Speaker 2: nurses and the orderlies and all the people that the EMTs,
- 59:43Speaker 2: the med mts, everyone that works in the hospital, but
- 59:46Speaker 2: not just them, also the people that work at the
- 59:48Speaker 2: grocery stores, bus driver people, the people that take our
- 59:51Speaker 2: trash out. COVID nineteen is hitting really hard in the
- 59:55Speaker 2: African American community right now, and that's because of African Americans,
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: we have the jobs that people are calling essential and
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: don't necessarily have the best healthcare out there. And I
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: just want to shine a light on that and shine
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: a light on our community and make sure that we
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: all have each other's backs right now, because that is very, very,
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: very important. And so I just, you know, I just
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: want to thank all of the healthcare workers. I want
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: to thank everybody out there, but I especially want to
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: reach out to all of my brothers and sisters out
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: there and say to you guys, you know, one, stay in.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: This is not a game.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Two. Check on your people for real, and hopefully, if
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: you're lucky, you'll have a doctor like doctor Cox or
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: something like that who's willing to you know, because insurance
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: is a big issue right now. It's such a huge
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: issue right now, and we need to figure that out.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: I'm just, you know, I don't want to, you know,
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: get controversial and say, you know, people aren't doing enough,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: but that's something that needs to be addressed. We need
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: to address.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: On the next episode, we are going to solve the
