Transcript
- 0:17Speaker 1: What's up everybody. Welcome to the season with Peter Schreger.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm Peter Schrager. I host Good Morning Football and NFL
- 0:23Speaker 1: Network five days a week. Every morning can find us
- 0:26Speaker 1: eight to ten am. Then we re air about a
- 0:29Speaker 1: million times an NFL network all day in the airport
- 0:32Speaker 1: wherever you are, you can see our mugs talking football.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I also am on the Fox NFL Kickoff pregame show
- 0:39Speaker 1: Sundays eleven to twelve Eastern and I live in New
- 0:43Speaker 1: York City, which means I come in with a certain
- 0:47Speaker 1: vantage point or disadvantage point when it comes to the
- 0:50Speaker 1: football squads. It's been a brutal year for New York
- 0:52Speaker 1: football Giants, entire offseason on Hard Knocks, every decision scene
- 0:58Speaker 1: as it's being made, and then watching the season play out.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Daniel Jones has been benched. Tommy DeVito is going to
- 1:05Speaker 1: start this weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Our guest
- 1:08Speaker 1: today is Tommy DeVito's agent, the very colorful, the very charismatic,
- 1:13Speaker 1: the very very good podcast guest Sean Stellato. We're gonna
- 1:18Speaker 1: get the Stillato in a second, because I want to
- 1:20Speaker 1: start with the other team in town, the New York Jets.
- 1:24Speaker 1: They fired Joe Douglas. Joe was on a rare six
- 1:27Speaker 1: year contract and this was the end of that deal
- 1:31Speaker 1: and he was going to get either let go or
- 1:34Speaker 1: he would have walked away at the end of the thing.
- 1:35Speaker 1: He wasn't getting reupped anyway at the end of the
- 1:37Speaker 1: season the way it was going. But they decided to
- 1:39Speaker 1: rip the band aid off in week eleven of the
- 1:42Speaker 1: NFL season, as opposed to riding it out. We don't
- 1:44Speaker 1: usually see gms lose their jobs before the end of
- 1:46Speaker 1: the season. In this case, it was done. And I
- 1:48Speaker 1: think it's fair to say that they're doing this to
- 1:52Speaker 1: get a head start on things. I head start on
- 1:55Speaker 1: who's going to be the next faces and leadership of
- 1:58Speaker 1: this organization. A lot of people killing Woody and Christopher
- 2:02Speaker 1: Johnson and the ownership. That's to me, that's low hanging fruit.
- 2:05Speaker 1: There's a lot of people saying, well, they've got a
- 2:06Speaker 1: fire or the owner. That's not how it works. Jed
- 2:08Speaker 1: York after they fired Chip Kelly, after Jim tom Sulla
- 2:12Speaker 1: and Jim Harbough on consecutive years, Jed York was like
- 2:14Speaker 1: thirty eight years old and stepped up to a microphone.
- 2:16Speaker 1: They're like, why do you think you should be doing
- 2:17Speaker 1: He's like, I don't know what world you live in.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm the owner. I will not unless the team is
- 2:22Speaker 1: forcibly taken away from me. I'm not selling. I'm not
- 2:25Speaker 1: going anywhere like I want to win to That's how
- 2:27Speaker 1: I feel with the Jets ownership. And to say just
- 2:30Speaker 1: what he needs to go is it almost eliminates your
- 2:34Speaker 1: your rational thinking as a as a person who's ever
- 2:37Speaker 1: dealt with real life, you know, economics or the way
- 2:41Speaker 1: that businesses work. He is a owner of the team
- 2:44Speaker 1: and short of anything off the field that would cause
- 2:46Speaker 1: him to lose the team that he's not gonna just
- 2:50Speaker 1: give away the squad or sell it. If this is
- 2:52Speaker 1: something he truly loves, and in Woody's case, he does
- 2:54Speaker 1: truly love it is brother Christopher does as well. Now
- 2:57Speaker 1: here's where it gets interesting. Although it hasn't been announced
- 3:00Speaker 1: yet and it hasn't been decided yet. The last time
- 3:03Speaker 1: Donald Trump took office, what he Johnson was the ambassador
- 3:07Speaker 1: of the United Kingdom. Now a lot of people thought
- 3:10Speaker 1: that job was going to go to Linda McMahon. She
- 3:12Speaker 1: has already been appointed to something else in the Education Office,
- 3:16Speaker 1: so that job is still open. And when wood he
- 3:19Speaker 1: last left, he left for four years and his younger brother,
- 3:23Speaker 1: Christopher took over, and seemingly things went far better for
- 3:27Speaker 1: a little bit of a time period where they did
- 3:29Speaker 1: bring in Joe Douglas, who was a hot GM higher,
- 3:32Speaker 1: they did bring in Robert Sala, who was a hot
- 3:34Speaker 1: coaching candidate. And then when wood He got back, obviously
- 3:37Speaker 1: he didn't hire either one of those guys, and I'm
- 3:41Speaker 1: not sure if he was ever on board with either
- 3:43Speaker 1: one of those guys. So it goes the way it
- 3:45Speaker 1: goes this season, and I wear it as much as
- 3:48Speaker 1: anybody I've talked about this time and time again. It's unfortunate,
- 3:51Speaker 1: but I came out and put my reputation on the
- 3:54Speaker 1: line and said they're going to be a number one
- 3:55Speaker 1: seed in the AFC and Aaron Rodgers gonna be the MVP.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It could not have been more wrong. So I wear it.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I wear it like a weatherman who comes out and
- 4:02Speaker 1: says the weather's going to be awesome tomorrow and there's,
- 4:05Speaker 1: you know, terrible weather, or I wear it like one
- 4:08Speaker 1: of these political pundits who said it's going to go
- 4:10Speaker 1: this way, but then it goes another way, I'll wear it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I was wrong. I thought it was going to go
- 4:13Speaker 1: one way. I forecasted my numbers and it was wrong.
- 4:17Speaker 1: That said, I don't know if I would advise them
- 4:20Speaker 1: to do it any differently. This year they went all in.
- 4:24Speaker 1: They went all in, and they went all in on
- 4:26Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, and they went all in on Mike Williams,
- 4:28Speaker 1: and they went all in on Tyron Smith, and they
- 4:30Speaker 1: went all in on DeVante Adams, and then they went
- 4:34Speaker 1: all in on all the different moves they made to
- 4:36Speaker 1: take big swings. But when the actual product was revealed,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and it was very evident Week one, this was not
- 4:43Speaker 1: a Super Bowl contender. And it was very evident after
- 4:46Speaker 1: the Broncos lost where they lost ten to nine in
- 4:47Speaker 1: the pouring rain at home, that this was not a
- 4:49Speaker 1: team that was going to compete in the AFC with
- 4:51Speaker 1: the Chiefs and the Bills and the Ravens. Now. I
- 4:54Speaker 1: could argue, if Greg's herline makes a couple chippy kicks
- 4:57Speaker 1: against the Bills, if greg'szerline makes a makeable kick against
- 5:01Speaker 1: the Broncos, if they don't have a slew of you know,
- 5:06Speaker 1: terrible interceptions against the Vikings out of the gate in London.
- 5:10Speaker 1: This might be a team that's in the playoffs, but
- 5:12Speaker 1: the last two weeks have been inexplicable. And if firing
- 5:15Speaker 1: Sola wasn't enough, they're going to fire Joe Douglas and
- 5:18Speaker 1: now they'll move on. So you could read all the
- 5:20Speaker 1: articles you want. Some of them have good stuff, some
- 5:23Speaker 1: of them don't. And you could look at all this stuff,
- 5:26Speaker 1: but the second someone says like get rid of the owner,
- 5:28Speaker 1: I just dismissed that person because it's not the reality
- 5:30Speaker 1: of the NFL. Owners don't come and go. Owners hold
- 5:34Speaker 1: on to these things. They're the most profitable businesses in
- 5:36Speaker 1: the world. The margin on their returns are insane. And
- 5:40Speaker 1: there's only thirty two owners in the NFL thirty one
- 5:43Speaker 1: if you include the Packers not having a true owner.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And there's real prestige and there's a real place at
- 5:48Speaker 1: the table for those owners. So Johnson family is not
- 5:52Speaker 1: giving this team away. They're not selling this team. What
- 5:54Speaker 1: they can do though, is try to hire the right
- 5:57Speaker 1: people to write the ship. So who's next. Well, we're
- 6:03Speaker 1: going to go through a process here. Now we haven't
- 6:05Speaker 1: even seen or gottenn information yet because it's been so
- 6:08Speaker 1: fresh but do they hire an outside firm to run
- 6:12Speaker 1: this search, which has been the case for other teams
- 6:14Speaker 1: in the past. I remember the Buccaneers after Lovey Smith
- 6:17Speaker 1: and Dirk Cutter were like, what do we do next?
- 6:20Speaker 1: They hired I want to say, Jed Hughes, who is
- 6:24Speaker 1: an outside firm, and they went out and they hired
- 6:27Speaker 1: Bruce Arians, who had recently left Arizona and taken the
- 6:30Speaker 1: year on TV and was in CBS, and it was like,
- 6:32Speaker 1: what are we going to do next? They went out
- 6:34Speaker 1: hired Bruce Arians, Bruce Arians right at the ship. They
- 6:36Speaker 1: eventually get Tom Brady and on we go. A team
- 6:38Speaker 1: that had been terrible for fifteen years goes on to
- 6:41Speaker 1: win a Super Bowl. These outside search firms, they have
- 6:44Speaker 1: contacts with everybody that could be the way you go.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Do they hire a I would almost say, a face
- 6:51Speaker 1: of the football operation? And what does that mean? Well,
- 6:55Speaker 1: Detroit went and hired Chris Spielman as a face of
- 7:00Speaker 1: the Detroit Lions franchise as a liaison between the front office,
- 7:04Speaker 1: which was eventually Brad Holmes and several other really talented
- 7:07Speaker 1: guys up there in Detroit and the owner, which is
- 7:11Speaker 1: the Ford family, and of course that has worked out perfectly.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Do you hire a president that overlooks both the business
- 7:21Speaker 1: and then the hind thing that The La Rams are
- 7:22Speaker 1: the model franchise to me, Stan Kronki is the owner.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Josh Kronki is the Sun. They are owners. We do
- 7:30Speaker 1: not touch football decisions. Now, they'll weigh in on, you know,
- 7:33Speaker 1: things that they might prefer and they'll obviously have a
- 7:35Speaker 1: say and whether a team, whether their team goes big
- 7:39Speaker 1: on a huge swing and a coaching higher and whatnot.
- 7:41Speaker 1: But Kevin Demoffo we've had on as the as a
- 7:45Speaker 1: guest on this show, is the team president. He actually
- 7:47Speaker 1: is now the team president of all the kranky sports
- 7:50Speaker 1: teams in the US, including the Avalanche, including the Rapids,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and including the Denver Nuggets. But Kevin is sort of
- 7:56Speaker 1: the point person up top from a business standpoint, but
- 7:59Speaker 1: less Snead, Tony past Stores and Sean McVay sort of
- 8:05Speaker 1: handle the football. So you've got a business operation where
- 8:08Speaker 1: it's the owners, yes, but they hire people who can
- 8:11Speaker 1: run the business side of it and then the football
- 8:13Speaker 1: side of it, and then the actual coaching is done differently.
- 8:16Speaker 1: The Jets right now, well, they've got a president Jimi
- 8:20Speaker 1: El high who is very capable of his job, but
- 8:23Speaker 1: isn't necessarily making football decisions. They have an owner, Woody Johnson,
- 8:28Speaker 1: they have Woody's brother, Christopher. Those guys both they want
- 8:31Speaker 1: the best for the team. And if you've read a
- 8:33Speaker 1: lot of the stuff, it's as if wood he's pulled
- 8:35Speaker 1: all the levers. I don't think that's true. I think
- 8:37Speaker 1: Joe Douglas did have a lot of autonomy here. I
- 8:39Speaker 1: think Joe Douglas did have the opportunity to make a
- 8:41Speaker 1: lot of decisions. How much medaling was done is going
- 8:43Speaker 1: to be for the articles that we write for you know,
- 8:46Speaker 1: you know, the forty eight hours afterwards. But Joe Douglas
- 8:49Speaker 1: was given five and a half years to field an
- 8:51Speaker 1: NFL team, and he also was in charge of a
- 8:54Speaker 1: lot of the business stuff. Do you put a more
- 8:58Speaker 1: football president in there? And is that Curtis Martin who
- 9:01Speaker 1: Gary Myers has suggested, is is that do you hire
- 9:06Speaker 1: someone who does the GM job and is more of
- 9:08Speaker 1: like a football president of operations, who who perhaps comes
- 9:12Speaker 1: from another franchise, Like do you higher? I don't even
- 9:16Speaker 1: you want to go down the list of different luminaries,
- 9:18Speaker 1: but like, was that a job that maybe you look
- 9:22Speaker 1: towards give me a name of a former player that
- 9:27Speaker 1: is still involved in football here, a Chris Bielman type
- 9:29Speaker 1: of course, but like a John Lynch, but like more
- 9:32Speaker 1: than GM. Like you give someone that role where you're like, yes,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you're going to be a part of it, but you're
- 9:36Speaker 1: also going to be our front and centering face. Now
- 9:39Speaker 1: the Jets in their history, Chad Pennington would be a
- 9:41Speaker 1: name I would suggest, just had success, smart business guy,
- 9:44Speaker 1: but hasn't really been in the NFL as much as
- 9:45Speaker 1: like the alumni stuff that he does. Curtis Martin's a
- 9:50Speaker 1: name obviously, but he's he's not in the day to
- 9:52Speaker 1: day football stuff. I would look towards that to just
- 9:56Speaker 1: have that voice maybe and someone that Woody Johnson trusts
- 9:59Speaker 1: that he can talk to and say, okay, I just
- 10:01Speaker 1: need your voice here to be the go between between
- 10:04Speaker 1: the GM and the coach and us. Maybe that's a position,
- 10:07Speaker 1: but at the end of the day, coach is what
- 10:08Speaker 1: matters to me. And this is not dismissing the GM position.
- 10:12Speaker 1: For me. If you find a great football coach, it
- 10:14Speaker 1: can heal all wounds. And in Denver they were sputtering
- 10:18Speaker 1: George Payton's a really talented GM. They were sputtering with
- 10:21Speaker 1: head coaches left and right. They went to Sean Payton
- 10:24Speaker 1: and said, here's twenty million dollars, fix this and go
- 10:27Speaker 1: make things right now. I'm not saying you need to
- 10:29Speaker 1: spend twenty million dollars or go find a former Super
- 10:31Speaker 1: Bowl champion, but I do think a powerful and promising
- 10:36Speaker 1: head coach is the way to go. And that could
- 10:39Speaker 1: be a quiet guy like Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator
- 10:42Speaker 1: of the Lions. You just pay through the nose and say,
- 10:44Speaker 1: give me the best offensive guy. It could be a
- 10:46Speaker 1: former head coach a Mike Vrabel. It could be a
- 10:48Speaker 1: former head coach a Cliff Kingsbury. It could come from
- 10:51Speaker 1: a lot of different directions. But I would like to
- 10:53Speaker 1: think coach is the most important hire here, and GM
- 10:56Speaker 1: as important as it is. The Jets had a really
- 10:58Speaker 1: good scouting staff, a really good personnel. They've got players
- 11:02Speaker 1: on that roster. What they need is the next coaching
- 11:05Speaker 1: staff to come in and revite that thing. You tick off.
- 11:08Speaker 1: The questions after that is Rogers coming back. I don't know.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I don't know. I honestly don't. They don't owe him anymore.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Guaranteed money after this year. So do you just say, hey, Aerin,
- 11:17Speaker 1: it's been real, thank you, it was worth the shot.
- 11:20Speaker 1: We appreciate your service, move on, or does Aaron himself
- 11:23Speaker 1: say I'm good, I'm not sticking around for this rebuild.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm out. That's a key decision. After that, you say, okay, well,
- 11:30Speaker 1: Salah was a defensive coach. Do we now go offensive
- 11:32Speaker 1: side of the ball. And if we do go offensive
- 11:34Speaker 1: side of the ball, do we draft a quarterback with
- 11:36Speaker 1: one of these top ten picks? If you were to
- 11:38Speaker 1: draft a quarterback, well, you had a top ten pick
- 11:41Speaker 1: last year, the eleventh pick. You took an offensive tackle
- 11:43Speaker 1: when there was a quarterback rich draft, and you didn't
- 11:46Speaker 1: do it last year. Do you kick yourself and say,
- 11:48Speaker 1: all right, now, we didn't get bon Nicks, we didn't
- 11:51Speaker 1: get Michael Pennix. We didn't get JJ McCarthy because we
- 11:53Speaker 1: had Aaron Rodgers at forty years old, and we don't
- 11:55Speaker 1: want to upset the apple cart. We wanted to give
- 11:57Speaker 1: him somebody else. Well sign he didn't draft Rock Bowers either,
- 12:00Speaker 1: who's on the board, And he didn't accept the trade
- 12:02Speaker 1: that was offered for other teams to move up to
- 12:05Speaker 1: get Brock Bauers, and you went and you drafted a
- 12:06Speaker 1: sixth offensive tackle who may or may not be the
- 12:09Speaker 1: next Walter Jones, but Olu Fashanu better be pretty good
- 12:13Speaker 1: if you took him over all those guys. I say
- 12:15Speaker 1: all this to say that the Jets they're back at
- 12:18Speaker 1: square one. They're back at the ground level. And I'm
- 12:23Speaker 1: not preaching to anybody because I have none of the answers.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I have suggestions of who I would talk to. I
- 12:28Speaker 1: think Mikey Greenberg in Tampa Bay, who's the number two there?
- 12:32Speaker 1: A guy who managed a salary cap and kind of
- 12:35Speaker 1: managed to bring back all those veterans even after Brady left.
- 12:39Speaker 1: With Jason Light the GM. As a name, I would circle.
- 12:41Speaker 1: He's a Merrick, New York native, grew up a Jets fan.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Might as well bring him in talk to him as
- 12:46Speaker 1: a GM. But coaches what matters most to me. So
- 12:49Speaker 1: we'll see what happens. They have a head start here
- 12:51Speaker 1: and we'll see who they use, who do they utilize.
- 12:55Speaker 1: But hit rock bottom for the Jets, and it's been
- 12:59Speaker 1: pretty bad for the Giants too. They got a new
- 13:01Speaker 1: quarterback and I got his agent on We're gonna talk
- 13:03Speaker 1: to Sean Stillado after this all Right. Our guest this
- 13:14Speaker 1: week is a personal favorite of mine, and it's a
- 13:16Speaker 1: guy that the rest of the country got a chance
- 13:18Speaker 1: to get to know a little bit last year during
- 13:20Speaker 1: the Tommy DeVito craze and the rise to stardom in
- 13:22Speaker 1: New York. He's been a power for a long time.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I really enjoy him and we love having him on
- 13:28Speaker 1: as a guest. Mister Sean Stillado, Welcome back to the
- 13:31Speaker 1: season with Peter Schreger.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I gotta chip my hat to that one. Peter, great
- 13:35Speaker 2: to see you, my man. Excited to be back.
- 13:38Speaker 1: You are back, and Tommy's back, and it's like it's
- 13:41Speaker 1: almost like we would like, all right, for the first
- 13:43Speaker 1: twelve weeks of the season, we haven't seen much or
- 13:46Speaker 1: heard much about Tommy DeVito, but he's been in the background.
- 13:48Speaker 1: We see him on the sidelines and he's announced as
- 13:51Speaker 1: the starter on Monday, and I immediately hit you up
- 13:54Speaker 1: and I'm like, I gotta have you on just because
- 13:56Speaker 1: it's like we're revisiting an old friend. You were a
- 13:58Speaker 1: big part of our lives last year and the whole
- 14:00Speaker 1: DeVito craze took over the Tri State area. But it's
- 14:03Speaker 1: been almost on ice and it's it's now back. So
- 14:07Speaker 1: take us through the last twelve months, since all the
- 14:10Speaker 1: marketing deals, since all the big Tommy DeVito commercials, to
- 14:13Speaker 1: now like, Hey, I'm just a quarterback playing football and
- 14:16Speaker 1: I'm trying to get a chance to stick around in
- 14:17Speaker 1: this league and maybe win some games to the New
- 14:19Speaker 1: York Giants.
- 14:20Speaker 3: You know, Tommy's middle names is resiliency.
- 14:24Speaker 2: That's something he learned from the game and whoever's played
- 14:26Speaker 2: it to be resilient. And he had a great offseason
- 14:30Speaker 2: and it's a testament to his work ethic, to who
- 14:32Speaker 2: he surrounds himself with is in a circle.
- 14:35Speaker 3: And I'm just excited.
- 14:36Speaker 2: He's you know, very obviously, got a lot of love
- 14:38Speaker 2: for Giants Nation, got a lot of love for the franchise,
- 14:41Speaker 2: his teammates, and let's face it, whether he's an underdog
- 14:46Speaker 2: or he's just you know, a talented football player, he
- 14:50Speaker 2: resonates with a lot of people, and he gives a
- 14:52Speaker 2: lot of people hope. And I think we're in a
- 14:54Speaker 2: very you know, a lot of people can form in society,
- 14:57Speaker 2: and I think Tommy shows that he's resilient, passionate, and
- 15:01Speaker 2: he's really locked into you know what he's trying to accomplish,
- 15:04Speaker 2: and he wants to win. Man, He's really focused on
- 15:07Speaker 2: this Sunday, and I'm happy for the young man, happy
- 15:09Speaker 2: for his family, and blessed to have a minuscule percentage
- 15:12Speaker 2: of all of it.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think people appreciate you as his agent
- 15:17Speaker 1: because you talk about conforming. There's a lot of agents
- 15:21Speaker 1: and not in a lot of them are as personable
- 15:24Speaker 1: or colorful as what you brought to the table with
- 15:26Speaker 1: this the veto run. But you're represent a lot of
- 15:27Speaker 1: clients and you've always had your own personal touch to it.
- 15:31Speaker 1: We haven't seen you on the screen for a while.
- 15:33Speaker 1: What have you been up to and what has the
- 15:35Speaker 1: last year been with a little bit more of a
- 15:38Speaker 1: national spotlight than he ever had before.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Yeah, very blessed, very humbled by everything that's happened, and
- 15:44Speaker 2: you know, obviously being able to use that you know,
- 15:48Speaker 2: small segment of stardom or exposure of viralness to segue
- 15:54Speaker 2: opportunities for other clients has been phenomenal. You know, after
- 15:59Speaker 2: that viral moment getting inducted into the National Italian American
- 16:02Speaker 2: Sports All Famous, which was insane because going in there
- 16:06Speaker 2: there was you know, two hundred people in a line.
- 16:08Speaker 2: You know, hey, can we get a picture signed something?
- 16:11Speaker 2: It was just like it was. It was weird, but
- 16:14Speaker 2: that was cool. But that was actually the day I
- 16:17Speaker 2: got to shrine was my grandfather's death date December fifteenth
- 16:21Speaker 2: for squally, so it was almost like a moment. But
- 16:25Speaker 2: I really got to kind of scale back there and
- 16:27Speaker 2: then made a run through the playoffs with a Fatu
- 16:30Speaker 2: Melifano who had a great a lions.
- 16:32Speaker 3: They almost caught to the chip and he really had
- 16:34Speaker 3: a hell of a year.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Then I got to play in that flag football game
- 16:38Speaker 2: NFL Honors.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Was fun.
- 16:40Speaker 2: You know, continue to work for my guys and obviously
- 16:43Speaker 2: the draft guys. Last year my Elias Neil signed that
- 16:47Speaker 2: made the fifty three undrafted with the Rams, which was
- 16:49Speaker 2: quite the surprise. I got flown out for the final
- 16:52Speaker 2: four weekend for Hoop. I got to come out of
- 16:55Speaker 2: retirement to play with some street ballers RG three t O,
- 16:59Speaker 2: and then I got my jersey retired at my prep school,
- 17:02Speaker 2: which was the Gunnery, which happens to be a twenty
- 17:05Speaker 2: seven years before John Tish and his brother both graduated
- 17:09Speaker 2: from there. First time I met John was minutes before
- 17:12Speaker 2: the viral moment, which I feel like he deserves credit
- 17:14Speaker 2: for that. Kentucky Derby the first time was pretty special.
- 17:19Speaker 2: And then obviously the Pope was just like.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Okay, let's go to the Pope, all right. So Sean Stillatto,
- 17:24Speaker 1: you're the agent for Tommy DeVito and then all these
- 17:27Speaker 1: things lead to you meeting the Pope. Can you just
- 17:31Speaker 1: tell the story?
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I obviously on the red carpet NFL Honors, a young
- 17:37Speaker 2: girl asked me in an interview if I could change
- 17:39Speaker 2: closets for the day, who would I want to change
- 17:42Speaker 2: it with?
- 17:42Speaker 3: And I said the Pope and she was blown away.
- 17:45Speaker 3: She says, that's a good one.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I said, well, you know, I love to be able
- 17:49Speaker 2: to bless people and bring people together and.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Just help people those in need. And it kind of transpired.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Then a friend over in Italy I was you know,
- 18:00Speaker 2: connected to, and I think it was a concoction of
- 18:05Speaker 2: those two.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Moments, uh, you know.
- 18:07Speaker 2: And then there I am in Saint Peter's Square, get
- 18:10Speaker 2: out of here, literally pinching myself. Tommy had the invite
- 18:14Speaker 2: to but he was, you know, Tommy was locked in,
- 18:17Speaker 2: he's working here, and he did and I was proud
- 18:20Speaker 2: of him for that. He said, Hey, we're gonna we're
- 18:21Speaker 2: gonna take a rain check, and we're going to do
- 18:23Speaker 2: it in twenty five. He said, well, let me go
- 18:24Speaker 2: over there and break bread with the Pope. I got
- 18:27Speaker 2: to give him a ragallo. So I gifted him a
- 18:30Speaker 2: custom football okay yep by Willson painted with the Vatican
- 18:36Speaker 2: coat of arms.
- 18:37Speaker 3: And it was just one of those moments.
- 18:38Speaker 2: And honestly, Peter, as an agent, you're always tired to
- 18:41Speaker 2: be in the moment because you're always working, always grinding,
- 18:44Speaker 2: you're texting, calling, and I really just got to sit
- 18:48Speaker 2: in his presence and have that moment and uh, you
- 18:51Speaker 2: know the photo we took that you know, Adam Schefter post.
- 18:54Speaker 2: It was just like it was incredible to be the
- 18:58Speaker 2: closest to the holiness to God. And uh, my grandmother
- 19:02Speaker 2: was just such an instrumental, instrumental part of my faith,
- 19:06Speaker 2: and then my wife, my two older daughters teach Sunday school.
- 19:09Speaker 2: It was just something I can't even put into words,
- 19:12Speaker 2: but I really felt like and he said in a
- 19:14Speaker 2: you know, Italian, thank you for bringing honor and glory
- 19:16Speaker 2: to God through your work as an agent, which I
- 19:18Speaker 2: thought was pretty special. So he had met he had
- 19:23Speaker 2: me at Hello.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah, he had you hat Hello at the Vatican. Uh.
- 19:28Speaker 1: And then this year, you know, you and I are
- 19:29Speaker 1: texting and you're like, hey, pretty cool. Thing was humbled
- 19:32Speaker 1: again this this year your college at home. Take us
- 19:37Speaker 1: through marriage, which I knew. I want to write it
- 19:40Speaker 1: Bison Rick Smith's The Duncan Dutchman Maris. Take me through
- 19:44Speaker 1: your connection to Maris and how they paid it forward
- 19:46Speaker 1: to you this year.
- 19:47Speaker 2: That was in just one of those moments. You know,
- 19:50Speaker 2: a lot of a lot of things happened at Maris.
- 19:52Speaker 2: They're my career career. I played Division one football and basketball.
- 19:56Speaker 2: You know, really I've met my wife, you know, who
- 19:59Speaker 2: was my girlfriend at the time. A lot of dreams
- 20:02Speaker 2: came true there. You know, got to be a Division
- 20:05Speaker 2: one athlete, which was a goal first time flying was,
- 20:09Speaker 2: you know, playing Pepperdine and college basketball.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Uh.
- 20:12Speaker 2: They end up reaching out and they were like, listen,
- 20:14Speaker 2: we'd love to honor you and do something really unique.
- 20:17Speaker 2: And boy did they ever. Uh.
- 20:19Speaker 3: If I could step on a screen for a second,
- 20:21Speaker 3: I can actually show you the Dora.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Let's see it. Let's see if all right for the
- 20:27Speaker 1: listeners at home. Sean is stepping out in his home
- 20:29Speaker 1: office to grab a custom for Dora that I believe
- 20:33Speaker 1: the first thousand fans at Maris's homecoming were gifted on
- 20:38Speaker 1: Sean Stillado Day this year, and it is a custom
- 20:42Speaker 1: fedra of Marist College that is red with a white ribbon. Sean,
- 20:47Speaker 1: take us through it. What was it like?
- 20:49Speaker 2: It was one of those things where you know, look,
- 20:52Speaker 2: a lot of things happened to me when I was there,
- 20:54Speaker 2: But then fast forward a you know, nine to eleven,
- 20:57Speaker 2: I was there playing college football, flying ten days after
- 21:00Speaker 2: the attack, I had just so much got married on campus?
- 21:03Speaker 1: Did just get married on campus?
- 21:05Speaker 3: I did?
- 21:05Speaker 2: I did it and and it was a private, beautiful
- 21:08Speaker 2: in a bust to Hutson they called Hobbin on the
- 21:09Speaker 2: Hudson President Wyman, you know, Tim Murray, the ad. Really
- 21:13Speaker 2: they've been doing remarkable jobs there. But walking through there, Peter,
- 21:17Speaker 2: it was it was a nostalgic moment because I really
- 21:20Speaker 2: feel like that chapter in my life is so imperative
- 21:24Speaker 2: to where I am right now. The level of faith
- 21:29Speaker 2: that I developed there, just some of my closest friends,
- 21:33Speaker 2: and then to pay it forward with a fedora, A
- 21:35Speaker 2: thousand folks you know, at fans, and I'm taking selfies
- 21:40Speaker 2: and signing for doors for kids, and then the coin toss,
- 21:43Speaker 2: which I was over one, and a coin toss Elver Milan.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Granny King told me straight out two times Super Bowl champion.
- 21:49Speaker 2: He said, Sean, that was the worst coin toss I've
- 21:51Speaker 2: ever seen in my life. I said, Damn, Brandon, I've
- 21:53Speaker 2: never even done a coin toss. Yeah, I got it
- 21:56Speaker 2: done this time, and Maris got the ball. And then
- 21:58Speaker 2: they did my jersey at halftime twenty number number twenty two.
- 22:03Speaker 2: And you know why I wore at War twenty two.
- 22:05Speaker 2: No Doug Flutie.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Yes the hell, Larry was eighty three. I'm gonna get
- 22:12Speaker 1: here eighty four. So I'm assuming you were a kid
- 22:15Speaker 1: up in Boston when that went down.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I was, I believe in first grade or kindergarten, and
- 22:21Speaker 2: I'll never forget.
- 22:21Speaker 3: I'm in Wayloo's Salem.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Way Loose was like the mecca of a I know.
- 22:26Speaker 2: It was an Italian restaurant and I'm sitting in the bar.
- 22:29Speaker 2: My dad had me by the hand and he says, wait,
- 22:31Speaker 2: let's watch this, and I look up. Sure enough, he
- 22:34Speaker 2: rolls right, throws unleash his sixty plus yard bomb, failing catch,
- 22:38Speaker 2: basket catch, and I looked at my dad, I said, Dad,
- 22:42Speaker 2: I want to be a quarterback. And sure enough, the
- 22:44Speaker 2: next day, what does he do? Buys me a football,
- 22:47Speaker 2: gives it to me, says Sean. This is going to
- 22:49Speaker 2: be a compass. Yes, it's going to bring you places
- 22:52Speaker 2: you only dreamly go on. But you got to work
- 22:53Speaker 2: hard and be honorable. And the crazy thing about that, Peter,
- 22:58Speaker 2: as I wore twenty two, Doug actually did a testimonial
- 23:01Speaker 2: video for my high school jersey retirement of prep school.
- 23:05Speaker 2: But fast forward forward it to twenty and fourteen's charity
- 23:09Speaker 2: celebrity flag football game. I get the naught to play.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Who's that quarterback? That Doug Flutie. Who's a receiver right here?
- 23:16Speaker 2: I'm catching that caught touchdowns that day.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Dougl he just Dane.
- 23:21Speaker 3: I love Doug Flutie, everything he stands for.
- 23:23Speaker 2: We are the same height. I have to disclose this.
- 23:26Speaker 2: So one thing about Doug he got about an inch
- 23:28Speaker 2: on each finger.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Yeah big all miss, let's go back to the Vito
- 23:40Speaker 1: because this is like last year. It was such a
- 23:42Speaker 1: sensation and then fans are like, all right, that was fun.
- 23:46Speaker 1: But now Daniel Jones is healthy and it hasn't worked out,
- 23:48Speaker 1: and the Vito was kind of hovering because they signed
- 23:51Speaker 1: Drew Locke for a big deal five million dollars to
- 23:54Speaker 1: be the backup, and yet they're going to Tommy. I'm
- 23:57Speaker 1: not asking you to break any Giants news or getting
- 23:59Speaker 1: to the decision making, but what was Tommy's psyche like
- 24:02Speaker 1: when it wasn't just hey, you're not going to have
- 24:04Speaker 1: a chance to compete here Daniel Jones guy, And then
- 24:06Speaker 1: we're also bringing in a guy who's a veteran backup
- 24:08Speaker 1: that's likely going to be the number two. And Tommy,
- 24:11Speaker 1: who had this spotlight and had this moment and had
- 24:13Speaker 1: the commercials and had three straight wins, including one over
- 24:16Speaker 1: the Packers last year, it's kind of being told you're
- 24:18Speaker 1: gonna be number three. How did he handle that?
- 24:21Speaker 2: You know, he handled it honestly great and testament to Tommy.
- 24:25Speaker 2: He's wired just you know, just a very unique individual.
- 24:30Speaker 2: And with his he knew he was going to have
- 24:32Speaker 2: to go back to the drawing board and he worked
- 24:35Speaker 2: very very hard Pete this offseason. And let's face it,
- 24:38Speaker 2: it's the most complex position on the football field, the quarterback.
- 24:41Speaker 2: But The one thing is Peter, what were the odds
- 24:43Speaker 2: of being a practice squad guy to getting elevated to
- 24:47Speaker 2: becoming the starter and then winning three games like that
- 24:50Speaker 2: as a rookie. So you know, he just that's the
- 24:53Speaker 2: beauty of this game as you just never know. I mean,
- 24:55Speaker 2: Drew Bledsoe gets injured, Tom Brady gets an opportunity. I
- 24:58Speaker 2: mean he might Tom Drew doesn't get injured, Tom might
- 25:01Speaker 2: not play for a while, right, So I think he
- 25:04Speaker 2: just he trusted process and you know, coaching Joe have
- 25:08Speaker 2: been very transparent ever since we you know, decided to
- 25:11Speaker 2: go there instead of taking a big guarantee.
- 25:13Speaker 3: And you know it's crazy, is you know one of.
- 25:16Speaker 2: The things I missed to say was the SP's the
- 25:18Speaker 2: SP's You know, we had brought us out there a
- 25:21Speaker 2: great time, but you know people are partying out there.
- 25:24Speaker 2: You know, Tommy DeVito at six a m. Was on
- 25:27Speaker 2: the football field and guess who was receivers were myself
- 25:33Speaker 2: and his brother Rax. And honestly, my hands are still sore.
- 25:36Speaker 2: This gets throwing two hundred balls a day. He's working out,
- 25:39Speaker 2: I mean he's in the gym. I mean that's you know,
- 25:42Speaker 2: you got a trip like that guy's on doing that.
- 25:44Speaker 2: But it's the little things. Look at he knows he's
- 25:47Speaker 2: not a rookie anymore, and he's uh, he's excited for
- 25:51Speaker 2: the opportunity to look at you. That's a very close
- 25:53Speaker 2: quarterback room, uh in New York. And it gets along
- 25:57Speaker 2: great with Daniel and Drew. And but it's look at
- 26:00Speaker 2: all you can control is, as we know it might
- 26:02Speaker 2: sound a little cliche, is the man in the mirror, right.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I mean, you can't personnel decisions. All you can do
- 26:09Speaker 2: is you got to make the most out of your opportunities.
- 26:11Speaker 2: And I think he's ready for that challenge. And he's
- 26:14Speaker 2: so walked in on Tampa Bay.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I have to think it was like the perfect storm
- 26:19Speaker 1: in that right player, Tommy with the right demeanor who
- 26:22Speaker 1: it's never been about him, It's never been about you
- 26:26Speaker 1: know what he could do. Right market North Jersey where
- 26:31Speaker 1: there is a huge Italian American fan base, but also
- 26:34Speaker 1: the Sopranos as a television show in the background, having
- 26:38Speaker 1: its roots in that market, and then the primetime games
- 26:42Speaker 1: and the opportunities to actually shine that this became a
- 26:46Speaker 1: not only football story, but a cultural zeitgeist moment. And
- 26:50Speaker 1: then there's the come down from that. How has Tommy
- 26:53Speaker 1: handled that in that you know, the spotlight was there,
- 26:56Speaker 1: but when you're not the number one quarterback, it's not
- 26:58Speaker 1: like it's kind of hard to say, hey, I still
- 27:00Speaker 1: want that table at that restaurant, or I still want
- 27:02Speaker 1: the court side seats of the Knicks. You'll get them,
- 27:05Speaker 1: but it's not as natural or smooth a transition when
- 27:08Speaker 1: you're not that guy. I would be so fascinated to
- 27:10Speaker 1: hear how he handled that as a young guy, because
- 27:12Speaker 1: that could be hard to.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, And what I think one of the
- 27:16Speaker 2: key components of that Peters Tommy has a high level
- 27:18Speaker 2: of faith, and he's got a really tight Knitch family.
- 27:22Speaker 2: And Tommy and I have always shared the vision ever
- 27:24Speaker 2: since we first met, of looking at the glass half full.
- 27:27Speaker 2: So many blessings and opportunities come as a rookie, and
- 27:31Speaker 2: he was able to develop and learn, and you know,
- 27:33Speaker 2: I really believe he's you know, he's a starting quarterback
- 27:36Speaker 2: in this league. I do, you know, And I know
- 27:39Speaker 2: he's got an opportunity Sunday, but he handled it with
- 27:43Speaker 2: class and grace, and he trusts the process. He believes
- 27:47Speaker 2: in that franchise. He believes in his coach, he believes
- 27:49Speaker 2: in his OC believes in the front office, and he
- 27:53Speaker 2: believes in the team around him. That you know, we're
- 27:55Speaker 2: all in it for one reason, to see him succeed,
- 27:59Speaker 2: impact lives and look at the jersey thing.
- 28:01Speaker 3: It's it is cool.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Uh, you know all that backstory, the Italian heritage is
- 28:06Speaker 2: the root of all our dreams.
- 28:08Speaker 3: And and just to that to happen in that market.
- 28:12Speaker 2: I don't know what the odds of the probability of
- 28:13Speaker 2: the statistics happening, but none believe that divine intervention and
- 28:18Speaker 2: how everything's worked over the last twelve months. We're right
- 28:22Speaker 2: right near where he needs, where he deserves to be,
- 28:24Speaker 2: where he wants to be, and where we are and
- 28:27Speaker 2: trying to embrace that because you know, through this you
- 28:30Speaker 2: watch so many great players. They hit speed bumps along
- 28:33Speaker 2: the way, they have adverse moments, and I think that
- 28:35Speaker 2: makes the script that much better.
- 28:37Speaker 1: What is what is Tommy's contract status? Is he a
- 28:40Speaker 1: free agent at the end of the season.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Yeah, he'd become a so pretty much he's an exclusive
- 28:45Speaker 2: rights after this his two years and RFA, so I
- 28:49Speaker 2: guess you got a tender so that they would technically.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Have inside his fate.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, yep, so he's.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Got a chance to do it. I would ask you,
- 28:58Speaker 1: as an agent, did you see your business uptick and
- 29:02Speaker 1: have you used the veto spotlight to maybe advance yourselves
- 29:07Speaker 1: with these college coaches to try to say, hey, I
- 29:09Speaker 1: can represent even more players from different positions. And you
- 29:12Speaker 1: already had a find career as an agent, but this
- 29:14Speaker 1: was a sensation last year, and did you feel like
- 29:17Speaker 1: you maximized that for the next coming crops of draft classes?
- 29:21Speaker 2: You know what, It's funny when the viral moment happened.
- 29:24Speaker 2: That happened kind of on the ladder end of recruiting
- 29:28Speaker 2: middle of December, so a lot of guys kind of
- 29:31Speaker 2: were situated, but from a visibility standpoint, and I think
- 29:35Speaker 2: this year's recruiting process has been night and day since
- 29:38Speaker 2: last year. You know, I look at it, I feel
- 29:41Speaker 2: like I do a good job. But at the end
- 29:43Speaker 2: of the day, I know talent and you know, look
- 29:46Speaker 2: at the first second round guys.
- 29:48Speaker 3: They're unique dudes. Guys have been doing a long time.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Extremely competitive industry, a lot of talented agents out there.
- 29:55Speaker 2: But I think in terms of my niche and what
- 29:58Speaker 2: I've been able to build up the relationships I have.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I'm proud of that, and I believe I know talent, Peter,
- 30:08Speaker 2: I know guys that have the traits to play in
- 30:10Speaker 2: this league and play for a long time. I've got
- 30:12Speaker 2: great undrafted guys in year ten and eleven that you
- 30:15Speaker 2: know that have walked the glass mounted barefooted, and then
- 30:18Speaker 2: having guys that second and third round picks that have
- 30:21Speaker 2: that have hit some speed bumps along the way, and uh,
- 30:24Speaker 2: gonna be fine, but it's the nature of the beast.
- 30:26Speaker 2: But uh, it has been interesting, you know, going out
- 30:30Speaker 2: in New York and going to some stadiums, a lot
- 30:33Speaker 2: of a lot of beautiful reception. You know, I'm very
- 30:36Speaker 2: just grateful for it. And when I see a little
- 30:39Speaker 2: kid come up to me and shows me a pitcher
- 30:42Speaker 2: of him wearing a fedora, or hey, I'm undersized, but
- 30:46Speaker 2: you know when I'm gonna play football, and you know,
- 30:49Speaker 2: just the notes in that of inspiration has been for
- 30:52Speaker 2: obviously for Tommy, he's the superstar, but then for my
- 30:56Speaker 2: you know, even myself on a on a lower level.
- 30:58Speaker 3: It's it's cool.
- 30:58Speaker 2: It's just because hey, a lot of people out there
- 31:01Speaker 2: got big goals, big dreams. Sometimes you know, you know,
- 31:05Speaker 2: high school sports very political. College sports can be very political.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Tom And that's the one thing I love about Tommy DeVito.
- 31:12Speaker 2: He never pointed the finger at Syracuse and said, hey,
- 31:17Speaker 2: he just you know, it was part of the journey,
- 31:19Speaker 2: part of the process. He's grown from it, he's better
- 31:22Speaker 2: from it. And you know he's grown a lot in
- 31:24Speaker 2: the twelve last year. And I'm yeah, I mean, I
- 31:28Speaker 2: think now it's using his experience from you know, what
- 31:31Speaker 2: he did last year to just continue to be better.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Right, I wrote down walked the Glass Mountain barefoot? That
- 31:39Speaker 1: is an incredible, incredible axiom. Is that a Shaun Stellato original?
- 31:45Speaker 1: Or have you heard that from someone else before?
- 31:47Speaker 2: I honestly've never heard that from anyone else before. I
- 31:50Speaker 2: probably I know, I know someone's gonna have a T shirt.
- 31:54Speaker 2: You know, they're gonna they're gonna have a T shirt. Hopefully,
- 31:57Speaker 2: if they're gonna do a T shirt, they at least
- 31:59Speaker 2: throw my, uh, Tommy or my face on it or something.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Walk to the Glass Mountain barefoot it says so much.
- 32:05Speaker 1: It's an impossible hill to get up, and now make
- 32:07Speaker 1: it out of glass, and now go barefoot and go
- 32:09Speaker 1: figure it out and guys.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Do it, they do, they do, and Tommy has done it.
- 32:14Speaker 2: I believe he will continue to do it be you know,
- 32:17Speaker 2: those are the that's kind of the you know, the landscape,
- 32:21Speaker 2: the course I believe I have walked, uh and so.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Many of my guys.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I wouldn't want it anything other way, Peter, to be
- 32:28Speaker 2: honest with you, I'm uh, I'm just grateful to be
- 32:31Speaker 2: in the moment, you know, obviously, but look at a
- 32:33Speaker 2: lot of a lot of work to be done still
- 32:36Speaker 2: on both sides of the fence.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Uh.
- 32:39Speaker 2: But I don't know, it's uh, maybe that's the Sicilian
- 32:41Speaker 2: and him of the Calibrazi and mea uh, you know,
- 32:44Speaker 2: just want to be better, you know, are you better
- 32:46Speaker 2: than when you were yesterday? And he's definitely Uh, he's
- 32:51Speaker 2: on a mission and he's locked in. And I'm proud
- 32:53Speaker 2: of him. Uh, you know, for how he's handed himself
- 32:56Speaker 2: the fame, uh, the the ups and downs of the
- 32:59Speaker 2: business of the sport.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Uh.
- 33:01Speaker 2: But he's also done a lot of great for a
- 33:03Speaker 2: lot of people. You know, a lot of is inspired,
- 33:06Speaker 2: a lot of charitable work. We did, you know, children
- 33:10Speaker 2: of the City. He was there raising a lot of
- 33:12Speaker 2: money for the unfortunate. He's going to do something next month.
- 33:15Speaker 2: So did the Turkey thing last ye. We're going to
- 33:18Speaker 2: do something during Christmas for kids. And that's the beauty
- 33:21Speaker 2: of a Peter to be honest with you. Having this platform,
- 33:26Speaker 2: well you can really, you can really change the trajectory
- 33:30Speaker 2: on a lot of people's lives, especially kids. And he
- 33:33Speaker 2: did his first annual camp, knocked it out of the park.
- 33:36Speaker 1: I mean, when was that summertime?
- 33:37Speaker 3: Yeah, that was so I I believe it was July
- 33:40Speaker 3: twelve in Jersey.
- 33:42Speaker 1: He did up in Massachusey.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Yeah, he did his Jersey and then mine was the
- 33:45Speaker 2: next day in mass Mine. I've been doing a long time.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Mine was year sixteen. But I got to see my
- 33:51Speaker 2: little my little first grade winter.
- 33:54Speaker 3: She was moving. But yeah, it was cool.
- 33:56Speaker 2: I mean, and he came back from the SP's literally
- 33:59Speaker 2: got in the I think the morning, late night him
- 34:01Speaker 2: next morning he was out there his Instagram. If you
- 34:04Speaker 2: look at it, the pin photo of him with like
- 34:06Speaker 2: his face naily to a little kid's face sums it out.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Love it. Hey, I hate to do stereotypical Italian American stuff,
- 34:13Speaker 1: but I live in New York City. I have a
- 34:15Speaker 1: lot of thoughts on Italian food. Your star player is
- 34:18Speaker 1: New Jersey, New York based. When you are in New
- 34:21Speaker 1: York City with Tommy or without, do you have a
- 34:24Speaker 1: go to Italian restaurant that you prefer?
- 34:27Speaker 2: I think Tommy has a few. We did a collaboration
- 34:30Speaker 2: with Yes Network. We're over at Patsy's where Frank Sinatra's
- 34:35Speaker 2: favorite spot, which was kind of cool, which I thought.
- 34:39Speaker 2: They did a really killer chicken cutlet with Walker sauce.
- 34:44Speaker 2: And you know, El Tolino's is another spot. I know
- 34:48Speaker 2: he likes car bones. I've kind of I'm embracing it all,
- 34:53Speaker 2: but he's definitely. Tommy is a big foodie.
- 34:56Speaker 3: He really is, and I am.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I'm honestly a big foody too. I love feed pill
- 35:01Speaker 2: I but I'm a little different. I six days a week,
- 35:03Speaker 2: I die it hard.
- 35:06Speaker 1: You got a rock solid body, my friend. I don't
- 35:08Speaker 1: think in the road, the rolls in the that I
- 35:12Speaker 1: am every night.
- 35:14Speaker 3: You know, Peter, I am six days regimented, but that
- 35:17Speaker 3: day seven I eat, like.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Where's your cheap thing? Is it Sunday Saturday? And you
- 35:21Speaker 1: do a book Sunday dinner?
- 35:23Speaker 2: You know, a big Sunday dinner. Usually my wife makes Uh.
- 35:26Speaker 2: My daughter has Sili Act disease. We wrote a actual
- 35:29Speaker 2: picture book which is underneath here, which is kind of cool. Uh,
- 35:34Speaker 2: and that's to raise awareness to kids with Silly Act
- 35:37Speaker 2: disease autoimmune diseases. Uh, why bring that up? Is uh
- 35:41Speaker 2: gluten free, you know, which is a little challenging. But
- 35:45Speaker 2: my wife's a phenomenal cook, very fortunately. Yeah, she's Italian
- 35:50Speaker 2: and Sicilian, so she's got it down. But I do
- 35:53Speaker 2: like my my thin pizza.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Do you do pizza? Have you had okay, have you
- 35:57Speaker 1: had Luke Colli in Brooklyn? Have you had all yet?
- 36:00Speaker 3: Have you heard about it? I haven't. I'm gonna write
- 36:02Speaker 3: this down right now.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Well, you might need help getting get in there. You
- 36:05Speaker 1: might need to show that commedy DeVito.
- 36:07Speaker 3: Yeah, bring one of these in.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Yes, I think that's right. Uh Lukali l u c
- 36:14Speaker 1: A l I l you would say, ye lu a
- 36:17Speaker 1: l i in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Uh.
- 36:21Speaker 1: The guy's name is Mark, who owns it, and it
- 36:23Speaker 1: is I think it's the best pizza in the world.
- 36:27Speaker 1: L u c A l I l I Okay, followed closely,
- 36:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna give another pop to another Brooklyn spot. Feenie pizza.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Have you had Feenie pizza? F I N I F
- 36:41Speaker 1: I N I have not finn Williamsburg. But if we're
- 36:46Speaker 1: going Jersey, I'm a Jersey guy. Freehold, New Jersey. Federici's
- 36:51Speaker 1: Pizza Ta, I think Federici two Ce's Federici's. I think
- 36:58Speaker 1: it's the best pizza in the world.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Pizza, New Jersey. Where you said, free.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Freehold Center, Central Jersey. Have him do an autograph signing
- 37:05Speaker 1: at the Freehold Mall, make about five to ten k
- 37:07Speaker 1: there and then spend it all on pizza.
- 37:10Speaker 3: That's that's good. That's a unique night.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I got, you know, and I can see this thing.
- 37:17Speaker 1: You can throw me a slice.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Hey, I love you gotta.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I mean, man, we're fans of yours and we appreciate
- 37:23Speaker 2: all the love last year. That would be pretty special.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I do have a Fedora that's gonna drop line uh
- 37:30Speaker 2: in the next probably week.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Okay, you might wanna. I want to get it out
- 37:34Speaker 1: before Sunday. Let's get the buzz going here.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Well, yeah, so I'm gonna I'm gonna have to. Uh,
- 37:39Speaker 3: you don't worry, You're gonna I'm gonna have.
- 37:41Speaker 1: To get you one because I'll be wearing it, you know,
- 37:43Speaker 1: I'll wear it on Good Morning Football, and I'll give
- 37:44Speaker 1: you love I always do. And I think if you
- 37:47Speaker 1: if you listen to this podcast and you see Sewan
- 37:49Speaker 1: on the Monday night football kissing Tommy's dad and the
- 37:51Speaker 1: whole thing, you think one thing. And then I talked
- 37:53Speaker 1: to you, and like, I think you have the biggest
- 37:55Speaker 1: heart in the world. I just love you, dude. I
- 37:56Speaker 1: appreciate you coming.
- 37:57Speaker 2: On TIPEA that family as mutual, and I appreciate all
- 38:00Speaker 2: the support for my guys, for Tommy and myself and uh,
- 38:04Speaker 2: best to your family.
- 38:05Speaker 3: I hope to see you, my man.
- 38:07Speaker 1: You're the best, dude. Good luck and enjoy this weekend.
- 38:09Speaker 1: You know, these quarterback starts, they don't come off. And
- 38:11Speaker 1: when you get the opportunity, make the most of it.
- 38:13Speaker 1: And Tommy's got another chance. I'm happy for him.
- 38:16Speaker 3: I got M and M seized a moment in my
- 38:17Speaker 3: head playing every day.
- 38:18Speaker 1: That's it, your opportunity to blow. Don't don't don't don't, uh,
- 38:23Speaker 1: don't throw it up like Mom's spaghetti.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Now, Okay, everybody's family's excited and Tommy's locked in, and yes,
- 38:29Speaker 2: should be fun.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Weather looks good and uh yeah, we'll be ready to go.
- 38:33Speaker 1: All right, dude, Thank you as always, pal My pleasure.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Aaron wan Coffin, my producer. I take special joy in
- 38:49Speaker 1: having Sean Stillado on. It's not a publicity stunt for him,
- 38:52Speaker 1: it's not a grab for clicks for me. I actually
- 38:55Speaker 1: enjoy talking to him. I think he's like a ray
- 38:57Speaker 1: of light in a.
- 38:59Speaker 4: Dark, dark world, and he's coming up with great catchphrases
- 39:03Speaker 4: or slogans or whatever you want to call us.
- 39:06Speaker 5: What did he say climbing barefoot up a mountain of glass?
- 39:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and that is Don't you feel like you're doing
- 39:13Speaker 1: that every day? Trying to make it in the world? Right, Yeah,
- 39:16Speaker 1: this is us. Look, I don't know if Tommy DeVito
- 39:21Speaker 1: lasts a half three quarters a week, two weeks, three weeks.
- 39:26Speaker 1: And it's very controversial that they're going to him over
- 39:28Speaker 1: Drew Locke, who they signed for a lot of money.
- 39:31Speaker 1: But I enjoy the Tommy DeVito experience. I enjoy Sean
- 39:34Speaker 1: Stillado and it's it's not just off the field and
- 39:38Speaker 1: the goofiness of like the memes and all that stuff.
- 39:42Speaker 1: I think Tommy could play. And I interviewed him last
- 39:44Speaker 1: year for Christmas Day's game on Fox between the Eagles
- 39:47Speaker 1: and the Giants, and like, I was in the building
- 39:49Speaker 1: just that day, and maybe I've learned my lesson after
- 39:51Speaker 1: my several days in the Jets building and thinking they're
- 39:53Speaker 1: going to be the seventy six Steelers. But I was
- 39:56Speaker 1: in the building that they the players like the veto
- 39:58Speaker 1: a lot, like they love the veto. And he's he's
- 40:01Speaker 1: a you heard the story. He goes to the SP's
- 40:03Speaker 1: at six am. He's probably at a high school field,
- 40:05Speaker 1: thrown to his agent, Like, I don't know, Tommy's cool,
- 40:07Speaker 1: see how it goes. It's hard for me to see
- 40:09Speaker 1: them beating Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers, but the Bucks
- 40:12Speaker 1: have lost four games in a row and we'll see
- 40:14Speaker 1: from there. Aaron I, we got a sponsor and it's
- 40:18Speaker 1: Uber Eats, and it's time for delivering results presented by
- 40:21Speaker 1: Uber Eats. I'm gonna discuss a team or a player
- 40:24Speaker 1: that delivered from the week's past games. I'm going bone Knicks.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Bone Knicks went twenty eight thirty three through four touchdowns,
- 40:32Speaker 1: had zero interceptions against the Falcons, team that's likely going
- 40:34Speaker 1: to the playoffs. Bon Nicks was the sixth quarterback taken
- 40:38Speaker 1: in the twenty twenty four NFL Draft, the sixth guy taken,
- 40:42Speaker 1: and yet the Broncos are right there in the thick
- 40:44Speaker 1: of the playoff chase. They would be a playoff team
- 40:47Speaker 1: at the playoffs for today and bo Nix is getting
- 40:49Speaker 1: better every single week. What I liked about bon Nicks
- 40:51Speaker 1: They lose in this crazy fashion to the Chiefs on
- 40:54Speaker 1: the blocked extra point and it's like, how do you
- 40:56Speaker 1: our blockfield goal? And they're like, how do you recover
- 40:58Speaker 1: from that? Goes and has a career day and lights
- 41:00Speaker 1: up Atlanta. Boon Knicks is our guy, and he delivered
- 41:05Speaker 1: last week. That was delivering Result presented by Uber Eats,
- 41:07Speaker 1: where you can get the best deals on game day
- 41:09Speaker 1: food all season long, the official on demand delivery partner
- 41:12Speaker 1: of the NFL. Order Now Real Quick, Aaron, did you
- 41:16Speaker 1: watch Jake Paul Mike Tyson?
- 41:19Speaker 4: No.
- 41:20Speaker 5: I had had dinner with some friends and we went
- 41:22Speaker 5: to the bar. We're gonna watch it, and we were like,
- 41:24Speaker 5: what time does it start? Eight o'clock.
- 41:25Speaker 4: We get there at eight o'clock and it was like, wait,
- 41:27Speaker 4: there are three or four fights before this. It doesn't
- 41:30Speaker 4: start until eleven, So I didn't watch it.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I read about it. The next day.
- 41:35Speaker 4: I watched a couple things. It seemed like I watched
- 41:38Speaker 4: more conspiracy theories. Then there was actual real discussion on
- 41:43Speaker 4: it the day after.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Okay, it was a horrible fight, that's what I heard.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Mike Tyson didn't even take a punt. I can't even
- 41:51Speaker 1: attempt to win this match. He was in there and whatever.
- 41:55Speaker 1: I think it's the first cultural zeitgeist sporting event that's
- 42:00Speaker 1: been non football that I can remember in some time.
- 42:03Speaker 1: And that's my takeaway on it. Now, the textuff it
- 42:06Speaker 1: didn't work for a lot of people. You saw the
- 42:08Speaker 1: immediate articles how the NFL is probably freaking out. I
- 42:10Speaker 1: don't know if that's true. I watched it from the
- 42:13Speaker 1: women's fight on to the end of the Jake Paul
- 42:17Speaker 1: Tyson fight, so I watched for about two and a
- 42:18Speaker 1: half hours on my phone.
- 42:21Speaker 5: And I heard the women's one before. It was incredible,
- 42:24Speaker 5: was I heard?
- 42:24Speaker 1: This was great? Awesome, And I look, if I'm going
- 42:29Speaker 1: to be sports media critic, I didn't need Rosie Perez
- 42:33Speaker 1: as the announcer. I didn't need Cedric the entertainer. But
- 42:35Speaker 1: I don't know what I wanted instead. Like I don't know,
- 42:39Speaker 1: you know, and it felt sort of it felt a
- 42:42Speaker 1: little bit like stunt type stuff. But all things considered,
- 42:48Speaker 1: when Mike Tyson's coming out of the tunnel and he's
- 42:50Speaker 1: got no one walking with him and it's just him
- 42:52Speaker 1: in his shorts and he's like, let's go, Like I
- 42:54Speaker 1: had a rush and some nostalgia, and I had about
- 42:58Speaker 1: thirty different group text chains talking about this fight, thirty
- 43:02Speaker 1: different Like we're talking NFL people talking friends from high school,
- 43:05Speaker 1: friends from friends from New York City, like, and it's
- 43:09Speaker 1: one in the morning on a Friday night. So I
- 43:12Speaker 1: guess my takeaway is that like platform matters. I don't
- 43:15Speaker 1: think that's the case if that's on Amazon or Hulu
- 43:19Speaker 1: or behind a paywall on ESPN Plus. Like the very
- 43:22Speaker 1: next night, you had the UFC, similar hours, similar appeal,
- 43:29Speaker 1: and there was a lot of buzz around that and
- 43:31Speaker 1: Trump being there with Elon and RFK and the whole
- 43:35Speaker 1: thing like became the cultural zeitgeist moment. But I didn't
- 43:38Speaker 1: feel like everyone was rushing their phones to watch or
- 43:42Speaker 1: talk about John Jones in that fight. It was more
- 43:45Speaker 1: about the stuff surrounding it, but the fight itself, Like
- 43:49Speaker 1: and it opens up doors. I was with Gronk on
- 43:50Speaker 1: Sunday and Shaq, I don't know what he was going for,
- 43:53Speaker 1: but he's like, I'm gonna fight Gronk. Basketball was football,
- 43:55Speaker 1: and like I had several people be like, is Gronk
- 43:57Speaker 1: fighting Shack? Because I would watch that. And I talked
- 43:58Speaker 1: to Gronk the next day because he flew into LA
- 44:02Speaker 1: on Saturday, and I'm like, are you fighting Shack? He's
- 44:04Speaker 1: like no, Like I had no idea where he was going.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Then we had fun with them, like would you fight Shack?
- 44:08Speaker 1: He's like maybe if the payday was like appropriate, But
- 44:10Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm in on that, Like I would watch
- 44:13Speaker 1: Shack versus grom could I don't know. I don't know.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I think Netflix as for as much crap they got
- 44:21Speaker 1: for like buffering issues, I thought it was a major
- 44:23Speaker 1: win like big, big viewers and kind of captured the
- 44:28Speaker 1: cultural zeitgeist in a world where everything is so fragmented
- 44:31Speaker 1: and I.
- 44:32Speaker 4: I mean, I said, I had a couple of friends
- 44:34Speaker 4: that we we went and had dinner beforehand. We went
- 44:36Speaker 4: to Speedy Romeo's and other great great pizza Brooklyn Pizza place,
- 44:41Speaker 4: and then we went and tried to watch it I
- 44:42Speaker 4: don't think in my six seven years of living in
- 44:46Speaker 4: New York, I've ever had someone reach out to me
- 44:48Speaker 4: like do you want to.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Watch and watch? Do you want to watch a game?
- 44:51Speaker 5: Like yeah, I mean like I'll go watch football games,
- 44:55Speaker 5: basketball game.
- 44:56Speaker 1: But that's like yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:58Speaker 5: So the fact that it was even a thing people
- 45:00Speaker 5: were interested in, that's a big deal.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:02Speaker 5: And I didn't even know there was a UFC fight
- 45:04Speaker 5: the next night, so clearly that.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Didn't the same, no doubt. Okay, so let's see Netflix
- 45:10Speaker 1: is the Christmas Day games? We had Annie Boson last
- 45:12Speaker 1: week talking about them to major games, Steelers versus Chiefs,
- 45:17Speaker 1: followed by Texans versus Ravens. I think all four of
- 45:19Speaker 1: those teams are going to the playoffs. A lot of
- 45:22Speaker 1: memes about buffering issues, but I bet bet you this,
- 45:25Speaker 1: bet you everyone's watching.
- 45:26Speaker 5: They'll have it figured out by then, for sure, Like
- 45:28Speaker 5: anything we'll.
- 45:29Speaker 1: See across our fingers. Yeah. And if they don't, they don't, Yeah,
- 45:34Speaker 1: Like all right, the game will still be played. Aaron
- 45:37Speaker 1: wan Kaufman, great stuff, Sean Stillado, thank you. Another monologue
- 45:43Speaker 1: about the Jets, a three and eight team. I didn't
- 45:45Speaker 1: even talk about my Eagles and Rams matchup that I'm
- 45:47Speaker 1: going to Sunday night. I cannot wait to be there.
- 45:49Speaker 1: I though that's a fun game. I'll be there in
- 45:52Speaker 1: Los Angeles. Thanks for listening, everybody. Let's keep it rolling
- 45:55Speaker 1: the season with Peter Schreger
