- 0:30on, brother? How you doing?
- 0:31>> Good. How are you?
- 0:33>> I'm good. You know, I got a lot of I got
- 0:35good ones here. I got We're going to do
- 0:36a top 10, but there's always some
- 0:37honorable mentions. I think you said you
- 0:39have about 12 or 13. I have a total of
- 0:4115 alto together.
- 0:44>> Okay. You want to you want to start off
- 0:46since you got more than me?
- 0:48>> Yeah, let's get into it. Right. You
- 0:49know, we we do a lot of top 10s, but
- 0:51before we get into it, I want to remind

- 1:03review. It does help get followings for
- 1:05us and pushes the content out there. So,
- 1:07we're going to start it off at my 15,
- 1:09which would be one of my first honorable
- 1:11mentions. I don't even know if you
- 1:12remember this show. It was called My Two
- 1:14Dads, and it was about two dads who were
- 1:18both dating this girl at some point. She
- 1:20died. They had a daughter and the woman
- 1:22actually ended up leaving uh the
- 1:24daughter to these two ex-boyfriends. And
- 1:26I gotta tell you, the reason why this is
- 1:28on my list at some point is because I
- 1:30was absolutely in love with this girl,
- 1:32the the daughter when I was a kid
- 1:33growing up. Stacy Keenan, I think her
- 1:35name is gorgeous. Back then, I had a
- 1:37huge crush on her. So, I could not put
- 1:39her on this list, but a fun show also.
- 1:42>> I do remember her. That was the one
- 1:44thing I remember. And that was um
- 1:47who was the guy that was Paul Riser?
- 1:50Yeah, it was Paul Riser.
- 1:51>> Yeah. Yeah. I I mean I remember that.
- 1:53Yeah, it was a good show.
- 1:55>> Yeah, definitely didn't make your top
- 1:57list. All right.
- 1:58>> No,
- 1:59>> I don't know if you remember watching
- 2:00this one either, but at my number 14
- 2:02spot is Moonlighting.
- 2:04>> You remember that show with Bruce
- 2:05Willis?
- 2:06>> Civil Shepherd. Oh my god. Two
- 2:08detectives uh to form their own agency
- 2:11and they were two opposites and you
- 2:13could tell they had such sexual tension
- 2:15between them. I love that show growing
- 2:17up as a kid though. That probably
- 2:19wouldn't make a lot of people's n 1980
- 2:21shows, but for me it was something I
- 2:23definitely had to put on the list at an
- 2:24honorable mention.
- 2:25>> That show catapulted Bruce Willis and he
- 2:28became huge after that show.
- 2:31>> He was he was of course he's a huge 80s
- 2:34star 1990s early 2000s. We all know what
- 2:36happened to him now, but to me he might
- 2:38be the star of the 1980s and that put
- 2:41him on the map.
- 2:42>> All right. So what do you have? That's
- 2:43that's two. I mean, uh, I didn't put it
- 2:46on the list, but since you have so many,
- 2:49this show started in the 70s as a
- 2:52spin-off of a an alltime epic show. Um,
- 2:56but it had its run in the 80s. I'm going
- 2:59with the Jeffersons.
- 3:01>> Mr. and Mrs. Willis has got a pension
- 3:02plan. You and Miss Jefferson have got a
- 3:04pension plan. What about me? What have I
- 3:06got?
- 3:08>> Crows feet.
- 3:12at scalp you, but nature beat me to it.
- 3:17>> Oh, wow. That That's a great show that I
- 3:19didn't even think to put on here.
- 3:21>> That was I was going to put it on there,
- 3:22but I I was I cut my list down a lot. Um
- 3:27but it did start in the 70s, a spin-off
- 3:28from All in the Family. Another epic
- 3:30show. Um but dude, George Jefferson, all
- 3:35time sitcom character. He was great. He
- 3:38was hysterical. Um, it just it showed
- 3:44at the time in the US that like there
- 3:46was a lot of like racial instability,
- 3:49you know, you had the blacks, the
- 3:50whites, and everyone else. And he was
- 3:52just like the like, you know, you had
- 3:54Archie Bunker who was the ultimate
- 3:55racist,
- 3:56>> but then you had George who was black
- 3:57and the ultimate racist like on the
- 3:59other side. And it was just a great
- 4:01show. Um, you know, you know, his wife
- 4:03was so easygoing yet he was a hotthead.
- 4:06You know, you had the maid who was like,
- 4:08you know, had a fast tongue and was like
- 4:09cracking jokes on them. And u
- 4:13>> you had the interracial neighbors, the
- 4:15Willises, you know, husband was white,
- 4:18wife was black, and they always had the,
- 4:19you know, like, and then you had the
- 4:21English neighbor upstairs, Mr. Bentley.
- 4:24Um, just a great show, funny show. Um,
- 4:28George Jefferson is like all time
- 4:31alltime TV character. He's just great.
- 4:33He
- 4:33>> He is. And to me that like that
- 4:36represented the time we were in back in
- 4:38the 1980s where
- 4:39>> yes
- 4:39>> yeah there there was racial tension
- 4:41>> to riches
- 4:42>> but but people also like they didn't
- 4:44take it as seriously as they do now. So
- 4:46like you can have a character like that.
- 4:47You could have a character like Argie
- 4:48Bunker and people thought it was funny
- 4:50as opposed to to being actually racist.
- 4:53So George Jefferson 100% top 10 alltime
- 4:56characters from from any era in my
- 4:59opinion. All right. So number 12 again,
- 5:01another show I don't know if you're
- 5:03going to have on your list because I was
- 5:04more into superheroes I think than you
- 5:06are my entire life. So
- 5:09>> and it was the greatest American hero to
- 5:11me
- 5:12>> the greatest superhero show of all time
- 5:16because he was also like not a great
- 5:18superhero. That's what made the show fun
- 5:20is he was like I don't want to say he
- 5:22was a buffoon. That's not the word I
- 5:23want to use. He was a good dude. He just
- 5:25didn't know how to be a superhero and I
- 5:27always got the biggest kick out of that
- 5:28show. He also had that curly blonde hair
- 5:31which made him look like ridiculous in
- 5:33my opinion. I also enjoyed that growing
- 5:34up as a kid. So, Greatest American Hero.
- 5:37Did that come on your list at all?
- 5:39>> It didn't, but I did love that show.
- 5:42Actually, I think I was I was him for
- 5:44Halloween once.
- 5:46>> I think everybody was back then.
- 5:47>> Yeah, I did love that show. It was a
- 5:49great show. It didn't have a long run.
- 5:51It was like four-year run, but it was
- 5:54just it was a it it great theme song.
- 5:58Every everything about that show was
- 5:59great. So yeah, I mean I'm I you know
- 6:02honestly I completely forgot about it. I
- 6:03would have I would have had it probably
- 6:05maybe low on the list maybe honorable
- 6:07mention.
- 6:08>> Yeah, definitely. That's what like why
- 6:10we do these lists because there are
- 6:11things that we forget about, right? We
- 6:12grow up, we love them as kids, but then
- 6:14you you don't forget about them about
- 6:16them as adults, but as you go through
- 6:17these TV shows or go through these
- 6:18sports events that we've done in the
- 6:20past, like they they want and it may pop
- 6:22in into one of our minds and that's why
- 6:24we talk about it. But another thing
- 6:25about that show which a lot of people
- 6:27don't ever talk about is like that was
- 6:28the really the first time anything
- 6:31superhero based was on TV outside of
- 6:33like a Marvel or a DC like show like a
- 6:36Wonder Woman show. Obviously we can talk
- 6:38about Wonder Woman but uh this being
- 6:40like a spoof on a superhero I thought
- 6:41was even better. So you go ahead give me
- 6:44your your next honorable mention.
- 6:46>> I mean I don't know if this made your
- 6:48list. It probably did knowing how much
- 6:50you like this show. Uh, it only had a
- 6:53four-year run, early 80s, 82 to 86. Um,
- 6:58but it was Nightrider.
- 7:11>> Of course, it made my list. You kidding
- 7:13me?
- 7:13>> Yeah. Uh, you got David Hasselhoff, his
- 7:16first big-time show. Um, he was an
- 7:19undercover cop. Uh, you know, like he
- 7:22had his face changed. He became Michael
- 7:24Knight, you know. Um, he was fighting
- 7:27crime for a special organization. He had
- 7:29the car. It was the, you know, the
- 7:31Pontiac Trans Am that had the light in
- 7:33the front was called Kit.
- 7:36>> Kit.
- 7:36>> Um, you know, everybody remembers that
- 7:39show. The song every I mean, like that's
- 7:41one thing about 80s shows. Every
- 7:45show had a great song to open up. Um,
- 7:48yeah, Night Writer was great. Not long
- 7:50enough. It just for me that's why I
- 7:52didn't make the top 10. Four year run is
- 7:54not long enough for me. Um but also I
- 7:57mean it was it was just a great show. I
- 7:58don't know where it was on your list but
- 8:00it was a good show.
- 8:01>> So believe it or not like we're on um
- 8:04number 13. So there's already like 13 on
- 8:07the list. So to me it was my next it was
- 8:10number 12. So I loved the show growing
- 8:13up as a kid and the fact that it was a
- 8:15black transm. The fact that he talked to
- 8:17his car through his watch when he wasn't
- 8:19near the car and he could just talk to
- 8:20the car when he's sitting inside it.
- 8:22That's every boy's dream growing up is
- 8:24to have a cool car, be able to talk to
- 8:26it, be able to do all the things. He
- 8:27could jump with the car and and don't
- 8:29forget like when he needed to like go to
- 8:31like home base, it was like a a rolling
- 8:33trailer. So like the trailer would load
- 8:35down, he would pull in the trailer and
- 8:37that was it. Like that show also being
- 8:39like almost like the detective show back
- 8:41then was fantastic. Like I'm shocked it
- 8:43didn't make my top 10, but it was right
- 8:45outside of it at number 12. Great show.
- 8:48>> Yeah.
- 8:48>> All right. So number 11 for me. I'm I
- 8:52guarantee you this is higher on your
- 8:53list. There's no question in my mind
- 8:55that that this made your top 10.
- 8:56>> You're going to kill me numbering here.
- 8:59>> It's family ties.
- 9:00>> Well, how do I look?
- 9:02>> Middle-aged.
- 9:05>> Dad, recent studies show you can predict
- 9:07success by the way a person dresses.
- 9:10Alex, you're a young man. You shouldn't
- 9:12be worried about success. You should be
- 9:15thinking about hopping on a [ __ ]
- 9:17steamer and going around the world or
- 9:19putting a pack on your back and heading
- 9:21down to Mexico or South America.
- 9:23Anywhere.
- 9:25The 60s are over, Dad.
- 9:27Michael J. Fox. Uh, was it Michael
- 9:31Gross, I think, was the father's name. I
- 9:32forgot. B, not Burgess. Meredith. I
- 9:34forgot what her name. Meredith Baxter.
- 9:36Bernie is the mother. But,
- 9:38>> you know, such a great show that
- 9:40propelled Michael J. Fox's career.
- 9:42>> A little bit too serious at times like
- 9:45in the 1980s, but that's what we grew up
- 9:46with. A lot of these shows had like
- 9:48really serious episodes at some point,
- 9:49but a lot of them were just great family
- 9:51comedies, but it propelled a career of
- 9:54to me like uh an iconic movie star who
- 9:57went on to do one of my favorite movies
- 9:59of all time, Back to the Future.
- 10:00Obviously, the trilogy, and he's done
- 10:02other things, but that show in itself
- 10:04was fantastic. It's my number 11.
- 10:06>> All right. That actually was number
- 10:08eight on my list and and it was a
- 10:09seven-year run. It was it was a
- 10:11longunning show, 82 to 89.
- 10:13>> Uh but you had the two liberal parents,
- 10:16super liberal parents that were hippies
- 10:19>> and they're raising this
- 10:21ultra-conservative right-wing son and
- 10:23you know there was a clash and like it
- 10:25just like the whole show captured this
- 10:27like
- 10:27>> cultural shift in the country cuz it was
- 10:29Reagan, you know, this was Ronald
- 10:31Reagan's United States, right? So you
- 10:34have, you know, the cultural shift. You
- 10:36know, you went from the 70s with all the
- 10:38hippies and the liberals and and you're
- 10:40going into the 80s and everything's like
- 10:43you're making that switch over to
- 10:45conservativism and, you know, you have,
- 10:47you know, everything's in, you know,
- 10:49people living in excess and money. And
- 10:51so it was a changing in time in the
- 10:54United States and and this show kind of
- 10:56captured that, you know. Um, and you
- 10:58know, like you had the liberals and the
- 11:00and the conservatives bumping heads and
- 11:02it was just it just made for good
- 11:03comedy. Yeah, definitely. It was a
- 11:05change in American values and that's
- 11:07what that show kind of showed. It showed
- 11:09that you know the values of America was
- 11:11changing in in the 80s and um, you know,
- 11:14it was set in in Ohio, Columbus, Ohio,
- 11:18heartland of the country, you know. So,
- 11:21great show. I had it as number eight.
- 11:22So, but I get it was honorable mention.
- 11:24It's pretty good show though. Do you
- 11:26have any more honorable mentions or is
- 11:27that it?
- 11:28>> I have one.
- 11:29>> Okay.
- 11:29>> And that was Magnum PI.
- 11:40>> Yes. Yes. That
- 11:42>> that almost made my list, but I decided
- 11:45not to put it on it only because I I
- 11:47love the show, but I don't know. Yeah. I
- 11:48don't know if anybody else loved that
- 11:49show. So,
- 11:50>> it was a it was a really good show. And
- 11:52actually, we were young when it came
- 11:54out. It it ran from 1980 to 1988. It was
- 11:56a longunning show, but it had you got if
- 11:59you go back now and watch that show, you
- 12:01probably love it more, you know, like um
- 12:04you know, Tom Celich was like this uh
- 12:06you know, former Navy Seal like u you
- 12:09know, private detective and he was
- 12:11living in someone's like guest house in
- 12:14Hawaii and he's just you know, he's
- 12:16solving cases. He's, you know, asking
- 12:18friends for help and solving cases and,
- 12:20you know, he's just like he had the red
- 12:22Ferrari.
- 12:23>> Yes. you know, and and it's just like it
- 12:25was like, you know, it was cool. Like he
- 12:27was a cool dude and like you know, he
- 12:28went on to make, you know, have a big
- 12:30career, but that was a that was a great
- 12:31show. I love Magnum PI.
- 12:33>> Did you know that Tom Celich was
- 12:35supposed to be Indiana Jones, but he
- 12:36couldn't get out of the Magnum PI
- 12:38contract, so he he had to do it. So
- 12:40regardless, Tom Cull best mustache
- 12:43>> in the history of television or movies.
- 12:46So that's that's what made him a legend.
- 12:47Not just the stash, but his stature, the
- 12:50show itself was fantastic. Again,
- 12:51another great detective type show from
- 12:54that time period.
- 12:55>> And just as a little side note, if
- 12:57you're talking good stashes from the
- 12:5980s, you got
- 13:01>> Tom Celic, Keith Hernandez, Ron Jeremy,
- 13:03all time best.
- 13:05>> The third one there, I don't know if a
- 13:07lot of people know. I'm sure the people
- 13:08who are listening maybe they know. But
- 13:10my number 10 to start the list off as a
- 13:12one I know I think is going to make your
- 13:14list uh cuz I know you made fun of me
- 13:16for this show uh relating to this show
- 13:19in college and that's the facts of life.
- 13:22Mrs. Garrett
- 13:24and the girls home. Great show. Love
- 13:27Mrs. Garrett. She's everybody's
- 13:29grandmother. That's why I love that show
- 13:31because she reminded me of my
- 13:32grandmother between the voice outside of
- 13:34the accent. But uh just a great show. A
- 13:37lot of different personalities in that
- 13:38show between Tutti being the youngest,
- 13:41Joe being the butchest, I'll put it
- 13:43that. And then of course we had Blair I
- 13:45think who was everybody's favorite
- 13:46primadonna. But just a great dynamic and
- 13:49of course Natalie just your everyday
- 13:51all-American girl back then. So again a
- 13:53fun show. I I have fond memories of
- 13:56watching that show during the afternoons
- 13:57when I would come home from school I
- 13:59think. So I had to put it at least on
- 14:01the top 10.
- 14:03That didn't make my list. But, uh, it
- 14:05was a good show. It was a good show. Um,
- 14:09you know, I mean, listen, there's so,
- 14:11you know, TV is not like it was back
- 14:13then.
- 14:14>> Like, you can, there were so many shows
- 14:15to go and watch. It was, you know, um,
- 14:19but yeah, I mean, that show, it was a
- 14:21good show, but it didn't make my list.
- 14:22Actually,
- 14:23>> now that I think about it, I I I had one
- 14:25that I was going to put on the list and
- 14:26I completely forgot to put it on there
- 14:28now that you mentioned Mrs. Garrett.
- 14:31Well, tell you what. Let's talk. Can I
- 14:32say another honorable mention?
- 14:33>> I I I know exactly what you're going to
- 14:35say, and it's going to be Different
- 14:36Strokes. Correct. As you said, Mr.
- 14:37>> Oh my god, I loved Different Strokes and
- 14:40actually that would have been on my list
- 14:42had I not had too many. But Different
- 14:44Strokes was a great show.
- 14:47>> What you talking about?
- 14:50>> Fantastic. See, we're veering from the
- 14:52list here, which is fine. That's why
- 14:53we're doing a conversation. So, I I
- 14:55agree. Uh, again, great premise of, you
- 14:59know, a a white rich person taking in
- 15:04two African-American boys. Such a great
- 15:07dynamic. But you're right, Mrs. Garrett
- 15:09was their housekeeper and spin-off for
- 15:11Facts of Life. But there were so many
- 15:12great episodes of that show. Of course,
- 15:15the one famous one is, you know, the
- 15:17touching one, but
- 15:18>> yeah, the bike
- 15:19>> the bike. Everyone, everyone's scared of
- 15:20that bike episode.
- 15:22>> Such a great show. And again, another
- 15:24great character in Gary Coleman,
- 15:28>> you know, uh, what was his name?
- 15:29>> What you talking about, Willis?
- 15:31>> Yeah, what was the name on the show,
- 15:32though?
- 15:33>> Um, Arnold.
- 15:35>> Arnold. That was it. Arnold. That's what
- 15:37I wanted to say. Arnold, but I was like,
- 15:38that can't be right. It is.
- 15:39>> What you talking about, Willis?
- 15:40>> Great, great show. Great. And he never
- 15:42did anything after that, unfortunately.
- 15:43Gary Coleman, then he passed on early.
- 15:45So,
- 15:46>> yeah. Um, yeah, great show. Uh, I mean
- 15:50just it it was known more for the the
- 15:53troubles off off the air than on the
- 15:56air, you know.
- 15:57>> Of course.
- 15:58>> But uh
- 15:59>> but also was a great time alltime show.
- 16:01But um let me give you my number.
- 16:02>> What's your number 10? Yep.
- 16:05>> I don't know if this is on your list. I
- 16:07have a feeling it's on your list and
- 16:08it's much higher than where I have it.
- 16:11>> And that's MacGyver.
- 16:13>> It's not on my list, but I should get
- 16:15another show. I I totally forgot about
- 16:19>> had a 7-year run from 85 to92.
- 16:23>> Um, and it's about a secret agent uh
- 16:26named Angus MacGyver,
- 16:28right? And he worked for the Phoenix
- 16:30Foundation. Um, and he was best known
- 16:35for not using weapons
- 16:38and he used his scientific skills to
- 16:40solve issues, you know, you know, like
- 16:42instead of um I don't know, like he
- 16:46would use paper clips and a scotch tape
- 16:48and something would explode, you know,
- 16:50like it was that was what he would do.
- 16:52>> He make a bomb out of like [ __ ] a
- 16:54rubber band and and whatever like a leaf
- 16:56>> chewing gum.
- 16:58>> Yeah. Crazy stuff. That's what made this
- 17:00so fun. So, it was it was a great show,
- 17:02but what made it even better is the
- 17:05spoof that they did on SNL, McGruber,
- 17:08and they even made that into a movie.
- 17:09That McGrubber movie was pretty funny.
- 17:11>> But, you know, it's funny that you
- 17:13mentioned that show. I totally forgot
- 17:14about it. It's not on my list.
- 17:16>> Good show. It was a good show.
- 17:17>> Both us being in like the science field,
- 17:19that show kind of made me want to do
- 17:21something along those lines. Like, as a
- 17:23kid, I always wanted to get into
- 17:24robotics. So, like that's what I wanted
- 17:27to do. And and part of that is MacGyver
- 17:28because you could always build anything
- 17:30out of like scrap. So damn, I totally
- 17:32forgot about that. That's a good pick,
- 17:34man. That that's a really good one at
- 17:35number 10.
- 17:38All right, number nine is uh definitely
- 17:41I I don't I I'm pretty sure this is
- 17:42going to make your list, but I could be
- 17:44wrong. And my number nine is Balky
- 17:46Barakamoose and Larry Perfect Strangers.
- 17:50>> Now we ARE SO HAPPY WE DO THE DANCE OF
- 17:52JOY.
- 18:00HEY,
- 18:02>> that didn't make your list, bro.
- 18:05>> Oh my god.
- 18:06>> Didn't make the list.
- 18:08>> But it's a great show. That's a great
- 18:09show.
- 18:10>> You could see where my humor was as a
- 18:12kid. Meepos. Yeah. Uh I'm surprised
- 18:14being Greek. I I I don't Were they Greek
- 18:16in the show?
- 18:17>> It was fictional. um his meipos. I mean
- 18:20I mean it it was
- 18:22>> they kind of made it him seem like he
- 18:24was Greek but he you know there's
- 18:26nothing there's nothing to it just like
- 18:27all fictional. So
- 18:29>> but that show about this foreigner
- 18:31coming to America for the first time and
- 18:32he was so wacky living with his cousin
- 18:34who was like straight and narrow and
- 18:36then you got these two
- 18:37>> Yeah. then you got these two hot blondes
- 18:40that there's no way in life that these
- 18:42[ __ ] dudes would pull these two. It
- 18:44just made the show fantastic. It was
- 18:46just it was like the odd couple for the
- 18:481980s where the odd couple was the 1970s
- 18:51but they had a you know a nice 1980s
- 18:53feel for that show. So I always enjoyed
- 18:55it. It made it number nine on my list.
- 18:57So what do you think about that show?
- 19:00>> Don't be ridiculous. That show was uh
- 19:04that show is that was a good show. I'm
- 19:05not going to lie. I did love Perfect
- 19:07Strangers. I do love me some Balky
- 19:09Bakumus.
- 19:10Uh Kosin Li. Yeah, there was it was a
- 19:13good show. I I you know what? Another
- 19:15one that I just forgot about. There's
- 19:18there's so many. I'm telling you right
- 19:19now, I'm hoping you have one of the ones
- 19:21I just forgot about on this list because
- 19:23if it doesn't make a list, it's it's a
- 19:24travesty. But
- 19:25>> well, like I said, at at at the end
- 19:27after we do number one, we can kind of
- 19:28share.
- 19:29>> See how we're going along and we're just
- 19:30remembering more and more shows. This is
- 19:32the
- 19:33>> that's the that's the premise, right?
- 19:34That's that's why we do it.
- 19:36>> So, what's your what's your number nine?
- 19:38H. Number nine is
- 19:42as a young kid, this was probably one of
- 19:44my favorite shows growing up. The
- 19:46favorite show. I remember staying up and
- 19:48watching it late at night. The Dukes of
- 19:51Hazard.
- 19:57>> Just a good old
- 20:00never meaning no harm.
- 20:05Beats all you never saw. been in trouble
- 20:07with the law since the day they was
- 20:09born.
- 20:12>> Oh yeah.
- 20:13>> And that was that was uh like a six-year
- 20:15run from 79 to 85.
- 20:17Um so like it took place in fictional
- 20:21Hazard County in Georgia.
- 20:23>> Yep.
- 20:24>> And you had cousins Bow and Luke Duke
- 20:27and um they were actually the whole
- 20:29premise of the show is they were on
- 20:30probation for running Moonshine.
- 20:34So, and you know they they had this
- 20:37awesome they had the most awesome car.
- 20:39It was a 69 Dodge Charger, orange Dodge
- 20:42Charger with 01 paint on the door and
- 20:44they had the Confederate flag on the on
- 20:46the roof and the doors never worked.
- 20:49they used to climb through the windows
- 20:50to get into the car and um you know
- 20:53they'd always try to you know they
- 20:54always get themselves into trouble
- 20:56trying to do good and they'd run into
- 20:58like the you know the corrupt officials
- 20:59of Hazard County and you'd have boss hog
- 21:01and the Rosco Pico train
- 21:03>> train yep
- 21:05>> well that was that was the thing about
- 21:06the 80s like you had to have a good
- 21:08villain and you had one in Boss hog
- 21:09again a rich rich guy from the south and
- 21:11you also had his lackey and Rosco Pigot
- 21:13train who was a cop
- 21:15>> so and then get these two yeah again
- 21:18absolutely absolutely one a big huge
- 21:20[ __ ] but that's what made the show and
- 21:22then you had these two young guys who
- 21:23were good-looking guys and of course
- 21:24their cousin Daisy Duke who made that
- 21:26show for any young
- 21:28>> Daisy Dukes Daisy Dukes oh my they Daisy
- 21:32Duke was the reason behind Daisy Dukes
- 21:34the the jeans oh my god
- 21:38>> she was hot
- 21:38>> can I can't believe that the the two
- 21:41that you just mentioned did not make my
- 21:43list because it didn't even
- 21:44>> I know that's what I'm saying I mean
- 21:45perfect stone you said perfect I'm like
- 21:47damn it man I missed Perfect strangers.
- 21:49>> A lot of these 80s shows and they'll
- 21:51probably repeat on some of the other
- 21:52ones, but like Night Rider, Magnapi,
- 21:56Dukes of Hazard, they're all like guys
- 21:59living their dream basically growing up
- 22:00to be like an action star or like you
- 22:02know, as we're talking about Dukes of
- 22:04Hazard, but just like rebels. That's
- 22:05really what they were. Like that's what
- 22:07we wanted growing up as a kid. It wasn't
- 22:09all this [ __ ] that goes on now that have
- 22:10kids like panicked about stuff. It was
- 22:12just fun.
- 22:14>> All right, I know this one has to be on
- 22:17your list at number eight. It has to be
- 22:18on your list. If it's not, I'm going to
- 22:19be shocked. And that's my boy Tony Danza
- 22:23and Who's the Boss? All right. So, it
- 22:25did make your list. Don't tell me.
- 22:27>> Number eight.
- 22:28>> Yeah.
- 22:29>> Okay.
- 22:29>> Don't tell me yet where it was, but I
- 22:31got to tell you,
- 22:33>> iconic iconic TV show. Tony Danza being
- 22:36a housemmaid for a woman who was an
- 22:39executive and they end up falling in
- 22:42love throughout the show. A lot of again
- 22:44a lot of great sexual attention in these
- 22:451980s shows. He ends up having a
- 22:47daughter who goes on to be obviously a
- 22:49huge crush of mine growing up. Now she's
- 22:51a little bit of a nut job.
- 22:52>> And then of course the best part of that
- 22:54show is the mother. Mona by far
- 22:58>> the funniest part of that show was in
- 23:00love with Tony as well. Like really just
- 23:01wanted to jump his bones. But it's such
- 23:03again great family TV show and the
- 23:05character development for these shows
- 23:06were were off the charts.
- 23:08>> She was the original gilfar
- 23:12of the 80s.
- 23:14>> Yes. Mona Robinson. H she was hot. She
- 23:18was hot. But um yeah, that was a great
- 23:21show. It's actually six on my list.
- 23:24>> All right. So,
- 23:24>> you got Tony Tony Dan who played Tony
- 23:26Melli, right? Former baseball player. Um
- 23:30it's just another one of those 80s
- 23:33changing in times type of shows. Uh
- 23:37where you had the role reversal, right?
- 23:39you have the the the woman, the
- 23:41beautiful woman that's the bread winner,
- 23:42and you got Tony who's like the
- 23:44stay-at-home guy that takes care of the
- 23:45kids and cooks and cleans.
- 23:47>> Um, just it's just like one of those
- 23:50it's, you know, the '8s was like a a a
- 23:53shift in in culture. Like that's why
- 23:57they what makes the 80s so great. It
- 23:58just was it was such a great time to be
- 24:00alive. I mean, I feel bad for people who
- 24:02don't who didn't live through the 80s,
- 24:04man. Like the '8s were so great. That's
- 24:07why I said 1985 1985 was the peak of
- 24:10civilization. After 1985, it slowly just
- 24:12started to come down.
- 24:13>> Dude, the go like this country was
- 24:15booming. Economy was great. People were
- 24:17living in excess. People were having
- 24:20fun. You know, you know, this is all
- 24:22pre- AIDS obviously. So, uh, but yeah,
- 24:25they, you know,
- 24:26>> thanks for bringing that up.
- 24:27>> Doing whatever the hell they wanted.
- 24:29>> Um, but yeah, I mean that's such a great
- 24:33show. Uh, you know, obviously Alyssa
- 24:35Milano, everyone's crush growing up.
- 24:38Obviously, like you said, she's a whack
- 24:40job now, but you know, she still
- 24:42actually looks pretty good if you look
- 24:43at her now. She's not bad.
- 24:44>> She's gorgeous. Always been gorgeous.
- 24:46>> Um, you know, everyone goes a little
- 24:48crazy. That's okay.
- 24:50>> Um, but yeah, that was number six on my
- 24:53list. So, you actually you grabbed six
- 24:54and eight off my list, believe it or
- 24:56not.
- 24:56>> Yeah, I always thought like when we get
- 24:58into the top 10, me and you would have a
- 25:00lot of the same. It would just be
- 25:01shuffled around.
- 25:02>> Especially the top three are going to be
- 25:04like uh
- 25:05>> I don't know. I don't know. Maybe two.
- 25:08All right. So, what's your number?
- 25:09What's your number? Uh
- 25:10>> well, my number eight was Family Ties,
- 25:12which was your lower one, right?
- 25:13>> So, you give me seven
- 25:16>> and I'm going prime time soap
- 25:20and I'm going Dallas.
- 25:22>> Well,
- 25:24it's amazing what a few thousand can do,
- 25:26isn't it?
- 25:27>> Oh, J. What a terrible thing to say.
- 25:29>> Really? Well, what's next? Are we on a
- 25:31capert?
- 25:32>> Oh, see that that didn't come on my
- 25:34list.
- 25:34>> All right. But Dallas is an alltime
- 25:36show. I mean, I don't know if you
- 25:37watched it.
- 25:39>> Never watch it.
- 25:39>> Um, it ran from 1979 until 1991. Had a
- 25:44long run. And it it's based out in
- 25:48Texas, obviously. It's called Dallas.
- 25:50Um, and it's based on t oil tycoons and
- 25:55the major family being the Euings. And
- 25:57you have good brother Bobby, bad Bobby,
- 26:00a bad brother Jr., everyone knows JR.
- 26:03Everyone loves JR actually. And um you
- 26:06know they you know they had that sibling
- 26:08rivalry and you also had the um
- 26:11competing family
- 26:13um what were their names? Damn it. Um
- 26:15the Barnes, Cliff Barnes. I don't even
- 26:17remember Cliff Barnes, but you know just
- 26:20a great show. Um ultimate villain in JR.
- 26:24Oh my god. I mean he slept with
- 26:26everybody on that show. who who doesn't
- 26:28make him a villain.
- 26:28>> That's a great He slept wives. He's Oh
- 26:31my god.
- 26:32>> That makes him a hero in my eyes. He's
- 26:33not a villain.
- 26:35>> Yeah, but he was I mean just like just
- 26:38the you know he had Goody Two Shoes
- 26:39Bobby. You had the evil brother Bob uh
- 26:42Jr. Cliff Barnes was another you know
- 26:44animal. Just a great show. Um it had
- 26:48such an an incredible run. Beautiful
- 26:49women on that show. Uh um you know just
- 26:54awesome. See that that Dallas did not
- 26:56make my list. I obviously I heard of the
- 26:58show. I I knew it growing up as a kid,
- 27:00but I could not put it on my list
- 27:01because I never really watched the show.
- 27:03But I did hear from everybody back then
- 27:05that it was a tremendous show. It was
- 27:06almost like, you know, like you said,
- 27:08like a soap for prime time, which which
- 27:10you you didn't really have back then
- 27:12outside of that show. So, I understand
- 27:14why uh people fell in love with it. I'm
- 27:16going to just I'll throw two other names
- 27:19out there that didn't make my list, but
- 27:20they were also big-time 80s like soaps,
- 27:23like prime time soaps, and you had
- 27:24Dynasty,
- 27:26which was phenomenal
- 27:29and Falcon Crest. Uh, neither one I
- 27:32watched. Both I've heard of, neither one
- 27:33I watched. So, all right, we're at
- 27:35number seven, believe it or not. And
- 27:37number seven is a classic. I don't know
- 27:38if it made your list if I don't know if
- 27:40you're into the show, but I was. But
- 27:42what was weird about the show is that it
- 27:45was I don't remember ever there being a
- 27:47plot in the show. It was just like
- 27:48people getting together and that's
- 27:49Cheers. So Sam Malone owning a bar,
- 27:54being a former, you know, Boston Red Sox
- 27:56player made him a huge deal. But then
- 27:58what made the show greater is all these
- 27:59cast of characters that continuously
- 28:01came through the bar. You had Cliff, you
- 28:03had Norm, you had the people who worked
- 28:05there and Woody Harlson, I forgot his
- 28:06name. You had uh I think it was Mac, the
- 28:08guy. Yeah, Woody, and then you had
- 28:10coach. Coach, that was it. who yeah he
- 28:12ended up dying and
- 28:13>> yeah during the show and then of course
- 28:15you had the women you had um Diane and
- 28:18then you had um Kirsty Alley's whoever
- 28:20she came in I forgot her name who she
- 28:22played Rebecca that she came in later on
- 28:24and played but
- 28:25>> you show the best one
- 28:27>> Rita what's her name
- 28:28>> Carla
- 28:29>> Carla that's it Rita she was married to
- 28:31Danny Devito in real life
- 28:33>> so to me like that show was just all
- 28:35about the characters that came into the
- 28:36bar and it was almost like a Seinfeld
- 28:38for for for the 1980s were like
- 28:40>> we'll see what happens when they come
- 28:42into the bar today. But it was such an
- 28:43iconic show and I think because of his
- 28:46backstory as a former Major League
- 28:48Baseball player.
- 28:50>> All right, I'm going to comment on that.
- 28:52You said I wouldn't have it on my list.
- 28:54It was number one on my list.
- 28:56>> Really?
- 28:56>> The only the only the only reason I say
- 28:59it and maybe it wasn't it wasn't like my
- 29:01favorite show,
- 29:03>> but I placed it number one because of
- 29:05its all-time stature amongst the other
- 29:08shows. you you know it ran from 82 to
- 29:1193.
- 29:13The the season the the series finale I
- 29:16think had like 80 million viewers. It
- 29:17was like something insane. Um so the
- 29:20show obviously yeah you said Sam Malone
- 29:23former Red Sox pitcher. Um you know owns
- 29:27this cozy little bar in Boston. Uh has
- 29:30you know basically the show is based on
- 29:32his relationships. He had the
- 29:33relationship with Diane when then when
- 29:35she left he had the relationship with
- 29:36Rebecca. So, like that was the center of
- 29:38everything. But like you said, what made
- 29:41the show was these cast of characters,
- 29:44Frasier and Cliff and Norm, Carla, all
- 29:48these like and Woody, I mean, all these
- 29:49animals that are in the bar and uh
- 29:52that's that's honestly what made the
- 29:54show and and you know, spawned the
- 29:55spin-off of uh Frasier, which was also I
- 29:59mean wasn't an 80s show,
- 30:01>> but it was an alltime show. So, I mean,
- 30:03anytime you have a show that can create
- 30:05a spin-off that's very successful, you
- 30:07know, it's a good show.
- 30:09>> Absolutely. For me, um, uh, I'm going to
- 30:12ask you this question. If you had to
- 30:13pick [ __ ] one, marry one, kill one,
- 30:16>> Carla, Diane, Rebecca, who are you going
- 30:18with?
- 30:18>> [ __ ] Mary, kill.
- 30:20>> Yes.
- 30:24>> Okay. You ready?
- 30:25>> Yeah.
- 30:26>> I'm [ __ ] Rebecca. I love the curvy.
- 30:29>> I love the Kirsty Alley.
- 30:32She was she was beautiful, too.
- 30:34>> Even even when she was a little bigger,
- 30:36she was still cute. I thought she was
- 30:37she was very sexy. And um I'm going to
- 30:41go marry Carla because I think she'd
- 30:43make a great wife. She's a spitfire. And
- 30:45then I killed Diane. Diane Diane was a
- 30:48[ __ ] pain in the ass.
- 30:50>> Forget her, man.
- 30:51>> She was a whack job. Forget her. Get rid
- 30:53of her. I go, that's that's in my order.
- 30:56And I'm sure that's pretty much your
- 30:57order, too.
- 30:58>> I I agree. Like Diane would the
- 31:00character herself was beyond annoying.
- 31:02Miss Chris, everything bothered her.
- 31:04Like forget that. Carla would probably
- 31:06drive me nuts though as my wife as well
- 31:08because she was like wild. Her husband.
- 31:10>> Yeah. But I I feel like she make a good
- 31:12wife, you know, like you know,
- 31:13entertaining wife, you know. You know,
- 31:15>> entertaining.
- 31:16>> Yes.
- 31:17>> 100%. I agree with that. All right. So,
- 31:19my number six I I know it's got to be on
- 31:21your list. It has to be. Here we go.
- 31:23It's one of the all I'm surprised it
- 31:25wasn't in the top three because that's
- 31:27how much I enjoyed this show. And that's
- 31:29the 18.
- 31:30>> We're not going to the airport. VA,
- 31:32>> isn't Murdoch kind of crazy?
- 31:33>> If he's flying, then we are dying.
- 31:36>> The 18 for me was honestly the best
- 31:40action show from the 1980s. Four
- 31:42tremendous characters that all came from
- 31:44four different backgrounds. All, you
- 31:46know, army vets, all wanted by the
- 31:48government. Yeah. All whatever.
- 31:50Hannibal, the leader, comes up with the
- 31:52plans, the smart guy. Ba Barackus, Mr.
- 31:55T, he's the the brute, the force. Uh,
- 31:58howling man, Murdoch, again, one of my
- 32:00favorites, absolutely out of his
- 32:01freaking mind, but they needed him to to
- 32:03fly the choppers. And of course, another
- 32:05favorite is Face. Could do anything.
- 32:07Everybody believe what he says. And of
- 32:09course, always fallen for all the
- 32:10chicks. And the chicks are falling for
- 32:12him. So, it was just a great set of
- 32:13characters. And every week was like
- 32:14something new. They always you go into a
- 32:17town, they need them, they'd win in the
- 32:18end, and then they disappear. That was
- 32:20that was the MMO for the entire show.
- 32:21But it worked, man. It was such an I was
- 32:23hooked on that show.
- 32:25>> It wasn't a longunning show. Uh I wanted
- 32:27it on my list, actually. I was going to
- 32:29put it on my list.
- 32:30>> It's not on your list. Jeez, it's
- 32:32>> not the time. No, it can't be top 10. I
- 32:34mean, I loved it, don't get me wrong. In
- 32:36fact,
- 32:38the show I don't know if it was the show
- 32:41that put So, all right. So, the best
- 32:44cameo on that show was Hulk Hogan by
- 32:47far.
- 32:48>> And because of the cameo, Mr. T made it
- 32:51to Wrestlemania 1. So, I mean, it has a
- 32:54lot of cultural significance. That show
- 32:55was great.
- 32:57>> Best opening, I think, for a show.
- 32:59>> The theme. We're going to we're probably
- 33:01going to do another episode of just
- 33:03another podcast just on themes.
- 33:05>> Oh my god.
- 33:06>> Yeah. But that I agree that that it's it
- 33:08it might be number one. That's how good
- 33:09it was.
- 33:10>> This may be on your list. I'm not 100%
- 33:13sure. I did love the show. It's I have
- 33:16them back to back because they're very
- 33:18similar shows in their dynamic.
- 33:21Growing pains.
- 33:24>> Okay.
- 33:24>> It's on my list.
- 33:25>> Ran from 85 to 92,
- 33:28>> right? Based in Long Island. You had
- 33:30Jason and Maggie Siver. And um you know,
- 33:34their three kids,
- 33:36uh Maggie, not Maggie, I'm sorry, Mike,
- 33:38Carol, and Ben, right? And it's
- 33:43basically another one of those role
- 33:44reversal shows. You have the wife going
- 33:46back to work. You have the husband
- 33:48working out of the home and taking care
- 33:49of the kids. It it's just a, you know,
- 33:52and it was a just a wholesome comedy.
- 33:55They they tackled like social issues and
- 33:57stuff like that. And um just a great
- 34:01show all around. Um, you know, you had
- 34:05uh
- 34:07the um I guess the last season even Leo
- 34:10DiCaprio got his start in in in in
- 34:14Hollywood from this show. But um I love
- 34:17the show. Had some great characters. I
- 34:20love the uh the friend Boner Stabone.
- 34:22Great great character on on any show. Um
- 34:26little known fact as a Mets fan, but do
- 34:28you remember who the neighbors were for
- 34:30the Severs?
- 34:32I don't.
- 34:33>> They're from Long Island, New York. It
- 34:35was the Kuzzman. So, you had Severs and
- 34:37Kman.
- 34:38>> The creator of the show was a huge Mets
- 34:40fan.
- 34:40>> So, little known fact.
- 34:42>> What's great about that show, again,
- 34:44another great dynamic with the children.
- 34:45You had Ben who was the youngest one who
- 34:47was almost like the more normal out of
- 34:48the three kids. And then you had Mike
- 34:50being the oldest who was like a
- 34:51complete,
- 34:52>> you know, he he was a cool kid.
- 34:55Everybody loved him, but at the same
- 34:56time, he wasn't into school. He was like
- 34:58almost like more of a
- 34:59>> until he became a Jesus freak.
- 35:01>> Yeah. in real life. But then of course
- 35:03you had um
- 35:04>> the the middle one and Carol who was
- 35:06like straight A's, straight whatever,
- 35:08your perfect daughter and they just
- 35:10meshed well together. The father was
- 35:12like a therapist from his home. So it
- 35:14was just such a great
- 35:15>> Yeah. such a great family dynamic which
- 35:18I think really resonated back in that
- 35:20time that 1980s where you can have
- 35:22different types of families like we saw
- 35:24like different strokes we saw the family
- 35:25ties we saw the growing pains who's the
- 35:28boss and all different type of family
- 35:30dynamics which you don't see a lot now
- 35:32>> so like I was saying it just showed the
- 35:35change of time
- 35:37>> the 80s like things were were changing
- 35:39in the 80s and it was just stuff that
- 35:42people weren't used to they weren't used
- 35:43to their mom going to work you They
- 35:46weren't used to their dad staying home
- 35:47and taking care of the kids, you know,
- 35:48and changing diapers.
- 35:50>> Um,
- 35:52you know, and it's just another example
- 35:53too of an 80s show
- 35:56where,
- 35:58you know, off the air stuff affects the
- 36:01show, right? So, you had the daughter
- 36:04Carol, she had bulimia or anorexia or
- 36:07something and she looked like she was
- 36:08dying almost on the show. And then you
- 36:09had Mike became a Jesus freak and
- 36:12completely changed his character on the
- 36:13show. They went from him being, you
- 36:16know, funny in an animal to like a goody
- 36:19two shoes, which just it didn't like
- 36:20that's why that show like towards the
- 36:22end just kind of like faded.
- 36:24>> So, you know what? That was my number
- 36:26two show. Number two show.
- 36:29>> Wow.
- 36:30>> I I had such a fondness for that show as
- 36:31well. Great characters.
- 36:32>> I really hope you have another show on
- 36:33here because I left it off and I
- 36:36remembered it at the end and I'm like,
- 36:37damn it, that was such a great show. And
- 36:39>> well, me just mention it now. Mention it
- 36:42now. The Wonder Years.
- 36:44>> Oh, it was a great show. Wasn't didn't
- 36:45make my list though.
- 36:46>> The Wonder Year Years was such a good
- 36:48show. Everyone's favorite. Winnie
- 36:50Cooper.
- 36:51>> I didn't like her growing up. That
- 36:52wasn't wasn't for me. Give me Stacy
- 36:54Keenan anytime, man.
- 36:58>> Was hot, man.
- 36:59>> She was in another show after that which
- 37:01didn't make my list, but it was um Step
- 37:03by Step, I think, was the name with with
- 37:05the parents. It was also Suzanne Summers
- 37:07was in that show.
- 37:08>> Yeah, that was 90s though. That was 90s.
- 37:10to the three all three daughters in that
- 37:12show were [ __ ] gorgeous. All three of
- 37:13them. So
- 37:14>> I I don't think this made your your
- 37:16list. I'm actually shocked. It's the
- 37:17Cosby show.
- 37:19>> Bill Cosby.
- 37:20>> I did like the Cosby's. I kind of left
- 37:22it off because I'm kind of tinned off by
- 37:23that guy now. So
- 37:24>> I get it. He's a sexual predator. We all
- 37:27get it. But back in the 1980s, Bill
- 37:29Cosby, I think, almost owned the 1980s,
- 37:31everything he had going on. That show
- 37:32was actually
- 37:33>> really good show.
- 37:35>> It was great. um him being a doctor um
- 37:38African-American doctor which there were
- 37:40a lot of talk unfortunately about them
- 37:43taking those type of roles so he brought
- 37:45that into the show. It was a funny ass
- 37:47show him uh them with their their four
- 37:49children. Theo obviously being the
- 37:51funniest out of all of them in my
- 37:53opinion. Claire to me was held that show
- 37:56together her being a lawyer
- 37:59>> really dominant. She owned him. Yeah, I
- 38:02used to love her as well. Yeah, I used
- 38:03to love her as well. their dynamic uh
- 38:06their relationship living in New York
- 38:07City. It was such a great dynamic that
- 38:10again very powerful couple,
- 38:12African-American couple to boot. Kids
- 38:14were all funny, all good kids, all like
- 38:16they got in trouble here and there, all
- 38:18smart kids as well. So there was a great
- 38:20family dynamic in that show. But I
- 38:21remember always sitting down at the time
- 38:23that show came on just to watch it.
- 38:25>> But it's again, it's just showing you
- 38:27cultural shift in the in the country at
- 38:28the time, right? So
- 38:30>> you know, very successful family, upper,
- 38:32you know, upper class. Um, you know, all
- 38:36the kids were good kids going to college
- 38:38and everything. Just, you know, just
- 38:41your 80s just like feel-good show, you
- 38:43know, like that's a lot of that stuff
- 38:45from the 80s and and it just it just
- 38:47showed you how well the country was
- 38:49doing at the time, you know?
- 38:51>> It's not even that. Like 1980s
- 38:54television taught kids how to be, you
- 38:56know what I mean? They taught you how to
- 38:57grow up. They taught you to dream, but
- 38:59they also taught you, you know what, I
- 39:01could do this with my life. I could make
- 39:02myself, you know, prosper. You don't get
- 39:04that [ __ ] from now on television. It
- 39:06really is is sad for where we've gone.
- 39:09But
- 39:09>> what's your what's your number four?
- 39:13>> This is I think this is on your list
- 39:16unless you put if you didn't consider an
- 39:1880s show. I consider an 80s show cuz
- 39:19that's when it started. And that's
- 39:21Married with Children.
- 39:24>> Let's rock.
- 39:27>> So dude, let me tell you something. To
- 39:28me, that that was always a '9s show. Oh,
- 39:30so if this is an 80 show,
- 39:32>> listen, it had a 10-ear run.
- 39:34>> It would be number two on my list.
- 39:37>> If it was if it was if I had considered
- 39:40this a 1980 show, this would be number
- 39:41two on my list. There's no question to
- 39:43me. This is like this change television,
- 39:45the show.
- 39:46>> Yes. See, this is this is me, right? I I
- 39:48I was torn. I'm like, is it an 80s or is
- 39:51it a N? But it started 1987 and it ran
- 39:54for 10 years. So, it was it was a
- 39:5610-year run. So it it it again another
- 39:59no plot, you know, it's it's Al Bundy.
- 40:02It's the Bundy family, right? And it's
- 40:03basically a dysfunctional family and
- 40:06it's actually it's a satire for what
- 40:09whatever the idealic '8s sitcom was.
- 40:11Like you go from Who's the Boss, Growing
- 40:13Pains, The Cosby's, and then you get the
- 40:16Bundies, right? The Bundies are
- 40:19completely the opposite. The neighbors
- 40:22are completely the opposite of every
- 40:23neighbor on the show. So, you have the
- 40:26Bundies. You got Al Bundy. He's a shoe
- 40:28salesman. Former football, high school
- 40:29football star who's a loser and his wife
- 40:32is like a, you know, this big, you know,
- 40:34waste of a space. She sits on the couch
- 40:36all day, bon bonss. You got Bud who's
- 40:39like this big hornball loser. And then
- 40:41you have Kelly who's like a [ __ ] and a
- 40:44[ __ ] you know, like. And then you get
- 40:45the neighbors. You have Marcy and Steven
- 40:48Rhodess, right? You got Marcy and Steven
- 40:50Rhodess and she's uptight and they're
- 40:53all about money and everything else. and
- 40:54the Bundy's are broke. Like, which I
- 40:57don't get how they live next to each
- 40:58other if the Bundies were broke.
- 40:59>> Exactly. Exactly.
- 41:00>> Um, you know, I mean, that show was
- 41:02great. Uh, and then later on you had
- 41:05Jefferson Darcy. Oh my god, that was her
- 41:07name changed to Marcy Darcy.
- 41:09>> If if this show, if I thought to put
- 41:12this on the list, it would have been
- 41:13number two. I always consider it more of
- 41:14a 90s show, but it did start in the 80s.
- 41:16>> Al Bundy to me is what every man has
- 41:20become in this world nowadays. Yeah.
- 41:23>> Yeah. It really is because most men hate
- 41:25their jobs. They hate what they do. They
- 41:27come home to their wife who may may or
- 41:29may not be working, but she's an
- 41:30[ __ ] She takes advantage of him.
- 41:32Maybe maybe deep down she loves him. But
- 41:35you could see how [ __ ] miserable he
- 41:37is. And his kids are just rotten to the
- 41:40core. But this was a funny ass show.
- 41:42Like Bud Bundy was tremendous. They they
- 41:45really, you know, weaponized women in
- 41:47this show, which I absolutely love
- 41:48growing up because I was a big horror
- 41:50master.
- 41:51>> Yeah.
- 41:52And then you had Kelly Bundy. Kelly
- 41:54Bundy was the ultimate sexual idol for
- 41:58all icon I should say for all.
- 41:59>> She was hot. She was hot
- 42:01>> for that time frame. There was nobody
- 42:03better than Kelly Bundy.
- 42:04>> She's still very beautiful by the way.
- 42:06Very beautiful.
- 42:06>> The Bunny Bounce. I mean, she was But
- 42:09you also take like all the what I just
- 42:11said and then you add the neighbors.
- 42:14Marcy was probably the typical most
- 42:16annoying neighbor you're going to find
- 42:17and her being a woman, her being a
- 42:19lesbian, her being like, you know, very
- 42:22liberal. And then of course she she's
- 42:23married to Steve who's kind of almost in
- 42:25between Al and her. And then all of a
- 42:27sudden towards the later before he left,
- 42:28he started shifting to more oral. And
- 42:31then of course we have the great
- 42:32Jefferson who really added something
- 42:33different to that show.
- 42:35>> Uh and then you had No Man where they
- 42:37start forming the group. It was just
- 42:39>> it's just liberating for men. That that
- 42:41show was really what that was. It was
- 42:42like liberating for man. I mean, great
- 42:44ideas. Like I remember one episode where
- 42:46Al goes on vacation and all he wanted
- 42:48was like four Daves sitting on the couch
- 42:49without being bothered and he puts up
- 42:51the baby gates and and you can't talk to
- 42:53him while he's on vacation. To me, there
- 42:55was just it was it was for that time
- 42:58frame, nothing had ever been done like
- 43:00that. And like I said, if I considered
- 43:01it, it would have been number two.
- 43:03>> Hooters. Hooters. Yum. Yum. Yum.
- 43:06>> Hooters. Hooters. And a girl that's
- 43:07dumb.
- 43:10>> Iconic show. the Dodge, the legendary
- 43:13Dodge.
- 43:14>> Oh boy.
- 43:16>> That show was more Americana. And that's
- 43:18where, you know, we talk about 80s to
- 43:1990s shift. That's where that show like
- 43:22>> that show that's why I mean I that's why
- 43:24I put it cuz it's like it's contrasting,
- 43:26right? So it it begins in the 80s at the
- 43:29late 80s
- 43:30>> and like you've had an 80s run where
- 43:33everything is wholesome, everything is
- 43:35great and then up, you know, here comes
- 43:37Al Bundy and he's like, you know what,
- 43:39no it's not. you know, it's a big it's
- 43:42like big FU, you know, like we're not
- 43:43nothing's great. Um, it was a
- 43:46groundbreaking show. It really was
- 43:48because I I mean
- 43:49>> I think around that same time, right,
- 43:51didn't you have um Roseanne, too,
- 43:54>> which is also that same type of mold
- 43:57where it was just like, yeah, nothing is
- 43:58great. Everything is [ __ ]
- 44:00>> All right. So my number four is a show
- 44:02that I think would be on your list, but
- 44:04again like Married to Children where it
- 44:06was ' 80s to '90s. This was 70s to 80s
- 44:09and I think it would be like number one
- 44:10on your list knowing you but maybe
- 44:12number two cuz you already told me what
- 44:14number one was or maybe it didn't make
- 44:15it cuz you thought it was 70s but that
- 44:17of course is Thre's Company.
- 44:19>> Good morning Mrs. Roer.
- 44:20>> Oh, good morning.
- 44:20>> Oh hi Jack. How have you been? I haven't
- 44:22seen you for a while.
- 44:25>> Here's your wallet. You left it in my
- 44:26bed.
- 44:29Oh my god.
- 44:31>> Did they This is This made my list at
- 44:33number three. I mean, this is my
- 44:35all-time favorite show.
- 44:36>> My favorite show, but I put it at three
- 44:39for a reason.
- 44:41>> Okay. So, I Yeah. Go ahead.
- 44:44>> You want to talk about characters? You
- 44:45want to talk about character
- 44:46development?
- 44:48A dude who's living with two female
- 44:50roommates in the late 1970s, early 80s,
- 44:53which was, you know, god forbid anybody
- 44:55do that. And not only that, how many
- 44:58great characters came into the show for
- 45:00like cameos like Mr. Furley who was
- 45:03their landlord who would never approve
- 45:04of such a living arrangement. Then later
- 45:06on there's Mr. Roer and his wife and
- 45:08again another another instance of a man
- 45:10hating his wife right there and Mr.
- 45:11Roer. Times have not changed regarding
- 45:13that. But then you had guys like Larry
- 45:15Dallas who added like color to the show
- 45:17as Jack's best friend who lived upstairs
- 45:19or wherever he lived and all the great
- 45:21sexual endos that that went along with
- 45:23that show. And then of course you had
- 45:24Jack's career. You had the Rico Beagle.
- 45:27Phenomenal show for the time frame. But
- 45:28I'm going to let you speak on this
- 45:29because I know it is your favorite show.
- 45:31>> Well, you know, I know everything about
- 45:34this show. So, this show was based on a
- 45:37British comedy called Man about the
- 45:39House, right? They bring it here. It's
- 45:42they base it in Santa Monica,
- 45:44California. And it's two girls, two
- 45:47girls that their roommate moved out cuz
- 45:49she had a baby. And so, they need to
- 45:52find a roommate. They had this party.
- 45:53And you know, um, this guy, they find
- 45:56him in the bathtub, sleeping in the in
- 45:58the in the bathtub. And it's John
- 46:00Ritter. He's, you know, Jack Tripper,
- 46:02the Jack Tripper. Um, and the rest is
- 46:06history. It's, you know, they wanted,
- 46:08you know, like he made them breakfast.
- 46:10She they wanted him to stay. So,
- 46:13you know, they had to pretend he was gay
- 46:15because there was no way they would let
- 46:18a man live with two women because it was
- 46:20a just a different time in this country,
- 46:22right? Um
- 46:24just you know the the whole show I mean
- 46:26it like talk about the original show
- 46:28about nothing. This was the show about
- 46:29nothing. It's just it the all it had a
- 46:32basis. It was two girls living with a
- 46:33guy pretending to be gay. That was it.
- 46:35Everything else was just there was just
- 46:37fl there was no story line. It was just
- 46:41misunderstanding double entandra
- 46:44you know slapstick comedy. It was just
- 46:47good feelgood comedy. you know, all the
- 46:50sexual stuff, you know, all the the gay,
- 46:54you know, hidden gay jokes and, you
- 46:56know, the um you know, like just the the
- 47:00the
- 47:02um homophobia of the of the landlord and
- 47:07everyone else too, as as a matter of
- 47:09fact. But, um just such a great show.
- 47:12Larry Dallas, the the pimp of the show.
- 47:14Like, it's just such a funny funny show.
- 47:17Again, as a young boy growing up to have
- 47:19all these very good-looking women there,
- 47:21not just obviously, you know, Joyce Dit
- 47:24and
- 47:24>> Suzanne Summers was hot.
- 47:25>> Yeah. Yeah. But that they were there
- 47:27every show. It's it's almost like later
- 47:28on when Suzan was left, you had Terry
- 47:30who was also very good-looking. And they
- 47:32all these Jack's girlfriends and Larry's
- 47:34girlfriends that they'd bring over all
- 47:35the time. That's what made the show
- 47:36great as well. But
- 47:37>> wearing bras.
- 47:39>> Yeah.
- 47:40to me like this is like one of the first
- 47:42shows that almost broke the fourth wall
- 47:44because everything every time something
- 47:45funny would happen either Mr. Roer would
- 47:48kind of look at the camera, Jack would
- 47:49look at the camera or Mr. Furley would
- 47:51look at the camera and but like almost
- 47:52like smirk a little bit like they're
- 47:54breaking that fourth wall. So like that
- 47:55also like it made something special
- 47:58about that show that we didn't have
- 47:59before in in 1980s television.
- 48:02>> Yeah. He had it was Mr. Roer and he
- 48:04would do the wife crack about his wife.
- 48:06>> Yeah. And uh you know you just you turn
- 48:09and look at the camera real quick and
- 48:10then here you did Tinkerbell. Um yeah.
- 48:13No, I love I mean I loved I mean I I to
- 48:16this day I still watch it. I mean it's
- 48:18like my favorite show,
- 48:19>> you know. So for the you don't have to
- 48:21think you just don't have to think. It
- 48:22has doesn't there's no you could you
- 48:25know like you can miss like five
- 48:26episodes and go in and it's a fresh
- 48:28episode. It's kind of like Seinfeld you
- 48:30know in that sense where you you don't
- 48:31need there's no story line. I mean,
- 48:34Stein Seinfeld had more of a storyline
- 48:36than Thre's Company to be honest with
- 48:37you because you do have like things that
- 48:39they remembered and and went off of. But
- 48:42>> so if you know this guy when we were in
- 48:44college together when he was just have
- 48:46some downtime, he would put on episodes
- 48:48of Thre's Company. That and The Karate
- 48:50Kid. Those are the three things that I
- 48:51and wrestling. Wrestling, Thre's
- 48:53Company, and The Karate Kid were the
- 48:54three things I saw you watch over and
- 48:56over in college. But uh so I knew was
- 48:58going to be on your list. There's no
- 48:59question. That's your number two.
- 48:59Honestly, I wanted it number one, but I
- 49:01I couldn't I could not put Cheers not at
- 49:04number one. That was my thing.
- 49:05>> So, my three is Full House to me. A
- 49:08great show.
- 49:09>> A lot of great characters. Another
- 49:11different family dynamic where you had,
- 49:13you know, uh Bob Saget who in real life
- 49:16is a [ __ ] animal. God rest his soul.
- 49:19One of the best comedians. If you ever
- 49:20haven't watched Bob Saget standup, it is
- 49:23so funny if you like dirty comedy. But
- 49:25to me, his wife dies. He invites his
- 49:28brother-in-law to live with him, invites
- 49:29his friend to live with him, Dave
- 49:30Kouier, and of course the great John
- 49:32Stables. And it's such a great family
- 49:34dynamic because now he has these three
- 49:35girls. He has the neighbor Kimmy Gibler.
- 49:39He's got uh Jesse's girlfriend, of
- 49:41course, I forget her name, but just a
- 49:43great family dynamic. Again, different.
- 49:45What was great about the 1980s, you got
- 49:47every different type of family dynamic
- 49:49there was in a television show almost.
- 49:51So, like such a great show. Um, you see
- 49:54these two manly men, especially Uncle
- 49:56Jesse, being, you know, soft, kind, and
- 49:58you see him go through all the things
- 49:59that he's gone through in his life, and
- 50:01then for him to change to become the man
- 50:02he was because of these three girls. It
- 50:04was just a great show. You know,
- 50:06something I watched continuously growing
- 50:08up as a kid.
- 50:10>> I didn't put it on the list.
- 50:13I believe it may have started in 1988,
- 50:16and I think that's why cuz I feel like
- 50:18it had more of a run in the 90s. It was
- 50:19more of like for me it was more of a '9s
- 50:21show.
- 50:22Um, and a lot of things like um, yeah, I
- 50:27think it was more of a for me it was
- 50:28more of a 90s show. I did like it. I did
- 50:30like it. Um, you know, and obviously the
- 50:33the savages that that were the three the
- 50:36three guys in real life, you know. Um,
- 50:39not so much John St. John St was a
- 50:41ladies man. He did have a lot of
- 50:42beautiful women, but uh, you had Bob
- 50:45Saget, who's a complete freaking animal.
- 50:48And then Dave Kouier, by the way,
- 50:51Atlantis Morsette was wrote that song
- 50:53about him. He was that dude that she was
- 50:55talking about in the elevator,
- 50:57you know.
- 50:58>> I didn't I did not know that.
- 51:00>> Yeah, Dave Koulier was was the angst
- 51:02behind Alis Alanis Moriceette, believe
- 51:04it or not.
- 51:05>> Who who knew that? That Dave Kouier has
- 51:07got it. I don't know.
- 51:08>> When you're when you're done, go look it
- 51:09up and and you'll see she freaking
- 51:11torched him, man. But like he he and he
- 51:14was at the time he was married and he
- 51:17had Alanis Moriceette and she was
- 51:20writing all this song all these songs
- 51:21about him. It's crazy.
- 51:23>> Crazy. All right. So Full House is my
- 51:26number three. Did we cover your number
- 51:27three already?
- 51:28>> Three is Company.
- 51:30>> All right. So what's your number two?
- 51:31>> You want me to go two?
- 51:33>> Go two because my two we already covered
- 51:34it.
- 51:34>> You want me to go two?
- 51:35>> So your your number two I guarantee you
- 51:38is my number one. But my number two for
- 51:40me was growing pains which you already
- 51:42covered. So, I think this is it. I think
- 51:43this is going to be it. So, what is your
- 51:45number two?
- 51:46>> My number two, and I can guarantee is
- 51:48your number one, ran from 1985 to 1992
- 51:53and is an alltime classic. It is The
- 51:57Golden Girls.
- 51:58>> Had the money, I could have been living
- 51:59in a swinging condo instead of with I
- 52:02better not say anything till I've had my
- 52:03coffee.
- 52:05A [ __ ] and a [ __ ]
- 52:08>> 100%. My number one show. I'm going to
- 52:11let you speak and then I'll go on it.
- 52:12But to me, and the best show ever,
- 52:14>> you know, obviously takes place in
- 52:15Miami. You have the four older women.
- 52:18So, you have Blanch who owned the I
- 52:20think it was a condo. Blanch owned the
- 52:22condo.
- 52:23>> I think I think it was a house. I don't
- 52:24think it was a condo.
- 52:25>> The house. Okay. So, Blanch owned the
- 52:27house. And basically, she was looking
- 52:30for roommates and um
- 52:33you had Rose
- 52:36from uh I'm going to hold on. I'm
- 52:39drawing a blank now. where she was from.
- 52:40I know she was from Minnesota.
- 52:42>> Minnesota.
- 52:43>> Yeah. But what was the town? St. Olaf.
- 52:45>> She was from St. Olaf. So, you know,
- 52:48back in St. Olaf. No. Um, so yeah, Rose
- 52:52was like the dimwit of the group. Uh,
- 52:55she she comes in to be a roommate from
- 52:57St. Olaf. Um, and you have Dorothy. I
- 53:00think they were they were I think what
- 53:02it was was they were she was trying to
- 53:03find one roommate, ended up getting two
- 53:06cuz she couldn't choose between her and
- 53:07Dorothy. Dorothy was with the fast
- 53:09tongue and she was from New York and she
- 53:10was you know she was very sarcastic and
- 53:13you had Blanch the owner was the you
- 53:16know the trolop and the flooy and so the
- 53:18you know they end up all living together
- 53:20and then they bring in
- 53:22the iconic the iconic Sophia Petrillo
- 53:27>> the home burned down
- 53:29>> her home burned down yes the home burned
- 53:31down and um Dorothy's mom comes to stay
- 53:36with
- 53:37And you know, the rest is history. It
- 53:40was just a great show. It was a good
- 53:42meshing of all the characters you had.
- 53:44You know, just like I explained now, Be
- 53:46Arthur to me made that show.
- 53:50>> Her her sarcasm was just on point.
- 53:52She's, you know, if if if there was a,
- 53:56you know, a picture in the dictionary
- 53:57for sarcasm, it'd be Be Arthur. Like her
- 53:59picture would be right there. She was
- 54:01just so funny. And I mean there was a
- 54:04lot of, you know, you know, you also had
- 54:05Stanley's Borneack, her ex-husband, who
- 54:07always used to make appearances. He was
- 54:08funny, too. And and who doesn't remember
- 54:10them always sitting in the kitchen
- 54:11eating cheesecake,
- 54:13>> of course.
- 54:13>> You know, funny little side note is I I
- 54:15used to watch that on a
- 54:18portable like radio TV as I fixed
- 54:21newspapers for Sunday. I think it was
- 54:23Saturday night. So, I used to make
- 54:25newspapers and deliver them.
- 54:26>> It was Saturday used to sit up and
- 54:28watching
- 54:28>> I used to watch it Saturday nights while
- 54:31I made the newspapers to deliver on my
- 54:32paper route. But it was literally
- 54:36>> I love that show. I mean I I mean I
- 54:38could you know like I I the show could
- 54:40come on now. I could tell you exactly
- 54:41what happens in it. Oh like oh they're
- 54:42in a jail cell. Oh they were caught for
- 54:44prostitution. Like I I know exactly
- 54:45what's going on and I can even quote I
- 54:48haven't seen it in years. I can still
- 54:49quote it. That's how good I am.
- 54:51>> That show to me was everything. Like I
- 54:54grew up watching that show. again,
- 54:55Saturday night. I think it was like
- 54:579:30, 10:00, 10:30, whenever it was on.
- 54:59I watched it with my grandmother. God
- 55:00rest her soul. I had honestly like the
- 55:03best relationship with growing up. So
- 55:05like that show, the four characters in
- 55:08that show and and you you touched on
- 55:09this before. It was Blanch looking for a
- 55:11roommate. She put it on a supermarket
- 55:13like like hanger board like looking for
- 55:15roommate and you know, Rose got it and
- 55:18then Dorothy got it and they both you
- 55:20know contacted her and that's how the
- 55:21show was formed. like the car all four
- 55:23characters had such a unique take on
- 55:27everything. Rose being from St. Olaf and
- 55:29all the stupid St. Olaf stories. Dorothy
- 55:31being from New York and being hard and
- 55:33being divorced. Her husband cheated on
- 55:34him and and just irked by Rose, you
- 55:37know, continuously throughout the show
- 55:39that made that show great. But, you
- 55:41know, you had Blanch who was who was the
- 55:42[ __ ] but she was hysterical because
- 55:44she would say all these stupid things
- 55:46and like do all these stupid things and
- 55:47they would just make fun of her. And but
- 55:49the the the real glue that kind of held
- 55:51that show together was Sophia with with
- 55:53sitting in the kitchen telling the
- 55:55stories, eating the cheesecake, gets her
- 55:57all the important moments had and and
- 55:59you know when you heard these words,
- 56:01picture it, Sicily, 19, whatever, like
- 56:04something great was about to happen and
- 56:06and it was just a great show about four
- 56:09older people. How many people out there
- 56:10would say that you grew up as a kid and
- 56:12you watch four woman women in their 60s
- 56:15talk about [ __ ] about life and that you
- 56:17were interested in it being like a eight
- 56:19or nineyear-old kid. It's just it's not
- 56:21going to happen anywhere else. That show
- 56:22was just unbelievable.
- 56:25>> That was a good show. I loved it. That's
- 56:26why it was my number two. And like I
- 56:28said, I put Cheers number one only
- 56:31because of its longevity and its its
- 56:33lasting. I mean, listen, thop three for
- 56:37me, those those shows are in syndication
- 56:40to this day, like non-stop, you know.
- 56:43Um,
- 56:45you don't find many shows like that.
- 56:48It's just it's,
- 56:51you know, Golden Girls has been on
- 56:53>> multiple. I still watch it. It's still
- 56:55on all the time,
- 56:57>> you know,
- 56:57>> and it's still funny.
- 56:59>> Yeah,
- 56:59>> it's still funny. Like, you could watch
- 57:01us, sit down right now, and it still
- 57:02applies. It's still funny. It's it's a
- 57:05th those four actresses and the way that
- 57:07show was it it still to this day holds
- 57:09up. Like there are certain TV shows you
- 57:11can go watch and be like, "Oh wow, like
- 57:12how the [ __ ] was I into this when I was
- 57:14younger?" That show still holds up
- 57:15perfectly. No, no qualms. All right, so
