- 3:01Stewart and then get into Tonight's case. Out of Texas. All right,
- 3:08I mean we're back. We took a break, but I still hate stew
- 3:14So here we are. We're just gonna have to just power through. If
- 3:17the sound, if the tone is melancholy Tonight, it's not because of the
- 3:22murder. It's because of the hatred I have for Stewart right now, So
- 3:25yes, all right. So Linda Sue Donna Hugh Nay Thompson was born June
- 3:32fifteenth, nineteen forty five, in Dallas, Texas. She grew up with
- 3:37four siblings, Tommy, David, Bonnie, and Terry. And Linda was
- 3:40very pretty and vivacious. She lived her life to the fullest. She was
- 3:44an animal lover her entire life, from it ranged from dogs to horses.
- 3:47She no cats. Well, I don't know, maybe she like would you
- 3:53consider cats falling in between dogs and horses. Well, I don't know.
- 3:55I thought we were going from smallest animal the largest animal. I don't know.
- 4:00Maybe she liked a cockatoo or a cockatoo. Wow. Um, that's
- 4:06a modern family joke. Anyways, she had lots of friends. And if
- 4:11we're gonna quote any any TV shows that means to do both know it's modern
- 4:15family. If it's to show that, I just know it's friends. So
- 4:18she had lots of friends and I had an active social life. Linda ended
- 4:23up in Arlington in the early nineteen eighties. See this is where I lived
- 4:26in Arlington for a short period of times too. She would eventually move in
- 4:30with her sister Bonnie at twenty four or five Southcrest Drive. It located in
- 4:34southeast Arlington. I don't know why I had what I'm saying, Southcrest Anyways.
- 4:41Linda was an avid horse rider and was part of the Arrant County Sheriff's
- 4:44posse in Texas Ranger Bells, where she rode in rodeos and civic functions.
- 4:47I tried to look up the Texas Ranger Bells and I don't think they exist
- 4:53anymore. It's probably like non not kosher anymore. But um, I think
- 4:59they were just like the bells for the women of the Texas Rangers, like
- 5:03went and road and all these rodeos and stuff. I don't know, but
- 5:06yeah, she she did. She did extra activities with the horses like that.
- 5:11She liked to go to these these uh, civic functions and be part
- 5:15of where you'd see like horses riding around and things like that. Rodeos,
- 5:21yes, and civic functions and other civic functions. Yes, Stewart, Well,
- 5:27they have traw rides here in Nisana. But I know, but this
- 5:30is more of a I think this is more of a um, what do
- 5:33you call it? A organized eventized? Well, I think this is more
- 5:38of a public organized event. Okay, Stewart, shut up, Oh my
- 5:44god. On June one, nineteen eighty seven, at around eight thirty pm,
- 5:48Bonnie arrived at the home she shared with Linda. They had plans to
- 5:53go out at night to a country western dance hall, country and western Steward.
- 6:00They played both kinds of music. What's the books that's a Beverly hillbilly's
- 6:05reference, Branny, Okay. Now, it was one of their favorite activities.
- 6:11And as she walked through the home. She felt it was erially quiet.
- 6:15She did not see Linda anywhere. She walked around the home and entered
- 6:17a bedroom. She found Linda lying naked and covered in blood in the closet.
- 6:25It was apparent that Linda had was beyond help, so Bonnie began to
- 6:29fear for her own life. She grabbed the gun that they had kept in
- 6:31the home, and she ran out the door. So that's what I would
- 6:34think. If I was to walk in and find a dead body, my
- 6:39immediate concern would be myself, you know, not your friend. Well maybe
- 6:45my friend. But if it like say, I walked in and found your
- 6:47dead body, my immediate concern would be myself that you would get caught for
- 6:53doing it. Stewart, I am still very hostile towards you right now,
- 7:01so don't test me anyways. But I can see where she's at. She's
- 7:06a you know, a woman by herself, and she comes in and sees
- 7:09a scene. The next thing you're thinking is my sisters beyond help. I
- 7:15can't do anything. I need to get out of here because this person that
- 7:17did this could still be in here. Yes, And if you don't save
- 7:20yourself first, you can't help your friend, even if she has That's what
- 7:24they say, to put the oxygen on yourself before you put it on your
- 7:29child's too. Gotta take care of yourself first. You can't help nobody if
- 7:32you're dead. YEP, I'd take that very seriously. Now, a neighbor
- 7:35saw the commotion, came over to help, and that person called the police.
- 7:42Police arrived on scene, and they could tell immediately that Linda had been
- 7:46stabbed. One stab wound was apparent in the neck. Now, it was
- 7:50very bloody, and there was blood on the floor, the bed, the
- 7:55walls, it was pretty much everywhere. But I guess if you get stabbed
- 7:58in the neck and the juggler, it's gonna on a shootout. Yes,
- 8:01start that sounds bad. Yeah, well you hit a main artery. I'm
- 8:05okay. Even though we haven't said the autopsy or anything. If there's blood
- 8:11everywhere a person, well, the one, the one in the neck is
- 8:16just what was apparent. You know they're gonna it's it's it's far worse than
- 8:20that. That's just what it's. The parents do. What would you like
- 8:26me to describe a parent? Well, I'm a parent. No, you're
- 8:30apparently stupid, is wow? Continuing on with the hostile podcast. We're going
- 8:41to rename it too, Bless this mess, a Southern hostile podcast with one
- 8:50wife and one idiot husband, and we can didn't want you go throwing out
- 8:56blesses hard out there anywhere, bless his heart. No, you on that
- 9:00you're beyond hell. An autopsy would later determine at forty one year old Lunda
- 9:07died from manual strangulation and stab wounds to her neck. During this autopsy,
- 9:13they also found several hairs clenched in her hands, DNA artifacts in her mouth,
- 9:20and three four and pubic hairs in the gentle tale area as she had
- 9:24been raped. Yeah, DNA artifacts in her mouth. This is the actual
- 9:28language from the court documents. In the autopsy, it meant that she had
- 9:33there was a sperm in her mouth, sperm cells. So that's what the
- 9:39artifacts was. Because they were able to later test those that I would think
- 9:43that she No, it was No, I didn't know what it was either
- 9:48because it said DNA artifacts. I guess they didn't want to be like real
- 9:52explicit or whatever in the autopsy, but that's what it was. So when
- 9:56initially looking at the home, Burglary did not appear to be the motive.
- 9:58There was nothing taken. Now they believe the sole purpose was the rape and
- 10:03murder of Linda. Now, based on the crime scene, they believed that
- 10:05Linda knew her killer because there was no signs of force entry. There was
- 10:09no type of struggle in the home. It seemed like she just let this
- 10:13person come into the house. Now, crime scene investigators recovered an unidentified fingerprint
- 10:20from the storm door outside. They also determined that the killer had washed up
- 10:24after the attack, as there was watered down blood drops in the bathroom sink.
- 10:28Now, please begin interviewing family, friends and neighbors. Now. Bonnie
- 10:31said that she last spoke to Linda that morning, but she had called her
- 10:35a few times during that day but no one had answered. Now. A
- 10:37neighbor said that she recalled seeing a white, older modeled truck with the toolbox
- 10:43parked on the street in between her house and Linda's. She said she noticed
- 10:46that when she left her home around left from her home around five fifteen pm
- 10:52and it was still there when she returned around five thirty pm. Another neighbor
- 10:54saw that what are you what do you win? She goes along for fifteen
- 10:58minutes of their house for fifteen If you go up to run, if you're
- 11:01running up to yeah, you're running. I'm running up to get a coffee
- 11:05that one of you lovely listeners bought me. I'm running up to get my
- 11:09coffee a comeback. That's that's a fifteen minute round trip, okay. Anyway,
- 11:16so any's while you're judging the neighbor, another neighbor saw the same truck
- 11:20and a white male in his late twenties or early thirties with dark shoulder length
- 11:24hair exiting the truck. They were able to create a sketch of the man
- 11:28and showed it to the family. Based off of what these neighbors saw.
- 11:33Now, Bonnie believed that the man in the sketch looked like Linda's new boyfriend,
- 11:37a fellow by the name of Ronald Knicks. Ron and Linda had been
- 11:41dating for about three months, but they had recently broke it off. He
- 11:45should go by Ronnie, like Ronnie Nick sounds like a cool name. Really,
- 11:50yeah, like Stevie Nicks. Maybe that's why I think it's now police
- 11:56were headed attack down. I don't think anything. Say it's funny tonight,
- 12:01ron had Ronnie had been trying to get a hold of Linda for a few
- 12:05days. Would you can't start calling Ronnie just because I said that he went
- 12:09by Ron? Okay, oh fine, Ron. Finally, a friend of
- 12:13Linda's picked up the phone at her home and told Ron that Linda had been
- 12:18murdered. Ron came in for questioning and gave a different story as to the
- 12:22status of the relationship with Linda. Then what yeah, because there was some
- 12:26Definitely it seemed like not to throw some shade at Bonnie. But I think
- 12:33she did not like the new boyfriend. She's like he did it now.
- 12:39Ron did come in for like I said, he said that he was ready
- 12:43to marry Linda, but they had they had an argument recently, but it
- 12:46was not a major argument that would cause a breakup. Ron had no alibi
- 12:52they could confirm, and he was said he was just a home alone at
- 12:56the time of the murder. So you know what, I Phil, I
- 13:00feel bad for people that are caught up in these murder investigations. And how
- 13:03many times is everybody just home alone? You know, nobody's around you,
- 13:07who's doing stuff all the time. It was home alone. He's got no
- 13:11alibi much, Yeah, I mean being home alone a lot of us are
- 13:15home alone a lot watching Vanderpump Rules or whatever, you know, because our
- 13:20husbands won't watch it with us. You're not really out murdering. No,
- 13:24but I'm saying that, Yeah, you're not out murder I'm just saying that
- 13:26it is a common thing. Like how many times think about your life,
- 13:30how often you're just home alone? So you're just at home waiting to be
- 13:33murdered? Yes, I got Yeah. Now, with Ron being the number
- 13:37one suspect and the only thing police had to go on, they asked him
- 13:41to take a polygraph test. He agreed and handed over any DNA samples they
- 13:48requested. Now, Ron matched the DNA. He is in jail, and
- 13:52that's the end of the Stewart, that's why don't you always do this?
- 13:56And it's so annoying you do this. That's my thing. Yes, that's
- 13:58your that's your shity. You don't like it. No, I don't like
- 14:03it. I don't like you. I don't like a lot of things.
- 14:05Right now, Ron passed his polygraph with no issues. Now, with this
- 14:09information, they went back to the eyewitnesses. Ron was shorter and had shorter
- 14:16hair than the man they had seen. Ron didn't look anything like the sketch.
- 14:18That's what it came down to. Ron didn't look anything like the sketch.
- 14:22The sister just apparently I feel like she just didn't like him at all
- 14:26because he wasn't this hair and everything was different. Well, Ron I also
- 14:33did not have access to a white truck like they had seen. So with
- 14:37this they dismissed him as a suspect and they're back to square one. And
- 14:41they continued to interview Linda's social circle, and one of the men who worked
- 14:46at the horse stables recalled a man matching the sketch with Linda one day that
- 14:50had come along with her to do something. The man couldn't recall what his
- 14:54name was or really why he was there. He just remembers this man with
- 14:58this should because he had distinctive shoulder linked black hair or dark hair that the
- 15:03guy remember and he said, yeah, this is the guy. So they
- 15:07spoke to Bonnie about the man, and she was not familiar with him.
- 15:11She believes it might have been a man she was going to sell her truck
- 15:13and horse trailer. Two. Now, Linda's other sister, Terry, recalls
- 15:18Linda mentioning something about selling her truck and trailer, and the man made her
- 15:22a little nervous. So this was just conversation, casual conversations. Police are
- 15:26now putting together with what might have happened to Linda. And now remember this
- 15:31is happening in the eighties, So if you're going to sell a truck and
- 15:35things like that, people just I guess people just came up and bought things
- 15:39and stuff like that. I mean, nowadays we have these like safe we're
- 15:41so used to selling things online and everything. You know, you have like
- 15:46spaces where you meet in public spaces, and we have app sex disguise our
- 15:50phone numbers. So if you have to like text someone about something you're selling
- 15:54on Facebook marketplace, they can't have, you know, have contact with you
- 15:58with your real phone number. Back then you're just yeah. Then back then
- 16:03you just are like if I'm sure if she's talking to her sister and saying
- 16:07he makes her nervous or whatever, it probably didn't. If someone said that
- 16:11today, they say, well, don't you dare go meet them at a
- 16:15private place, don't let them get to come to your home, don't do
- 16:18any of this stuff. Make sure you meet him in front of the police
- 16:19station to sell your truck or whatever you're going to do. But back then
- 16:22it was kind of just you had to deal with it. There was no
- 16:25other way to go about. If you needed to sell your truck and your
- 16:27horse trailer, and you some guy came calling up and said, yeah,
- 16:30I want to buy it, and then he made you nervous. It was
- 16:33just like, what's you gonna do. You gotta sell the truck. Yeah,
- 16:37you gotta sell the truck and the horse trailer. So police are now
- 16:41putting together you know what might have happened to Linda. The man was in
- 16:45contact with her to buy the trailer and had gone to the stables to look
- 16:48at it. That's how he interacted with her friend at the horse stables.
- 16:53They must have agreed to meet at Linda's home and that is when he attacked
- 16:56her. They had no clue who this man was though. They were at
- 17:00a dead end now. The case went cold for years. When they did
- 17:03finally get a hit on the fingerprint on that storm door. I remember they
- 17:07had the one. That's all the evidence they really had besides the DNA,
- 17:11but they didn't really have anything. They couldn't do anything with the DNA back
- 17:14then, this was just they were collecting it because there was hopes that they
- 17:18could do something with it one day. But currently they could match blood types,
- 17:22they could match, they could do like the secret or non secret thing,
- 17:27because there's I think eighty percent of the population is a non secret which
- 17:32means you don't secrete your blood type in your like your bodily fluids and twenty
- 17:38percent R. So that could limit some people down but not not like DNA
- 17:44can. All right, so we're back, Stuce said, I'm doing a
- 17:48terrible job at this tonight. So whatever. Anyways, they're not even hearing
- 17:52this because they don't moved onto their next podcast. Stu said, everybody's neck.
- 17:57Stu said, everybody's neck? Right? Are they just nexting the whole
- 18:03podcast? Are they just are they just want to carry the one of us?
- 18:06They just moved on to the next pot. Okay, so this isn't
- 18:08our a plus work. So this is your first time listening to this podcast.
- 18:11Go listen to another episode because this isn't. Definitely, don't write a
- 18:15review based on this one. No. I thought I was doing okay,
- 18:18but whatever. Anyways, so they tracked this man down that they found that
- 18:22matched this storm door fingerprint. So he denies even knowing Linda, and as
- 18:27they investigated more, they did find out that he had lived in the area
- 18:30and him and his wife were actually going to look at Linda's house, who
- 18:36which had been up for sale for a period of time. Now, they
- 18:38never went in, but the man most likely placed his hand on the door,
- 18:42like how shitty is this your odds? He probably leaned against the door
- 18:47they like, looking in or whatever, ringing the doorbell, and that's how
- 18:51his finger got on. Their fingerprint got on there in the storm door.
- 18:53But they never actually went in the house. He didn't even remember the house
- 18:56because his wife had just was taken around. You know, if you're looking
- 19:00for a house back then, it's not you're not favoring it on the zillo.
- 19:03You know, you're you're actually going just driving through neighborhood or looking in
- 19:07the newspaper. I don't know how you sell a house back then, a
- 19:11real estate at So they're giving them all these addresses to go look at because
- 19:15at the time Linda was wanting to I think her family had lived in California
- 19:22for a period of time and she was wanting to go back that way.
- 19:26So that's why the house had been at for sale. That's why she was
- 19:29selling the truck and the horse trailer. There were things going on. So
- 19:32based on his story and everything like that, they did clear him as a
- 19:37suspect and now they're back to nobody. They got nobody the boyfriend. Yeah,
- 19:42square one, Stewart fucking square one. Okay. In August to two
- 19:48thousand and five, almost twenty years after the murder of Linda, cold case
- 19:52detectives were reopening cases that had semen and hair samples carrying DNA. They're re
- 19:59examined one of the swabs from Linda's rape kit. After a few weeks,
- 20:03they were able to complete a DNA profile from the sperm that was found.
- 20:10The data was input into the National Combined DNA Index System or CODUS as I
- 20:15will refer to it all you professional true crime listeners. Code is code is.
- 20:21Once input, this immediately matched to a man named Roger Eugene Faine.
- 20:26So they had a hit. Never trust a man with the middle name Eugenes
- 20:30do no, no, no, no. Sorry to all the Eugenes and
- 20:37our tensive listeners for that. But you know, I feel like Eugene.
- 20:41You know that all the all the there's a lot of older names coming back,
- 20:45like Ruby, but people naming their daughters like Ruby or even Esther or
- 20:53some of these older names. You know, I don't think Eugene's ever gonna
- 20:56make a comeback. I don't think it's happening for Eugene. Well, I
- 21:00don't think my grandpa's middle name is gonna come back either. So what was
- 21:03that? M Adolf? Isn't he wasn't he German too? Yes? He
- 21:15was. He wasn't that kind of German though, Okay, No, they
- 21:18came over before World War Two. He played was with the US Army invading
- 21:22into France after Oh, and that's right. And he had the middle name
- 21:26Adolf, and he had we have a we have a German, but he
- 21:30didn't want anybody in his unit to know he spoke German or then his name
- 21:33was Adolf. Yeah, but he wasn't a bad He wasn't a bad Adolf.
- 21:36He wasn't like with the Germans. He wasn't with the Nazis. He's
- 21:38with the US US Army scout. Yeah. I don't think Adolf of making
- 21:45it come back anytime soon. Yeah. Anyways, my grandmother's middle name is
- 21:52not making it come back either. But it's not as funny as it's not
- 21:56that Adolf Hitler's funny, but that's a little funny. Her name, her
- 22:00middle name was Almita, which I don't feel it's gonna make her come back.
- 22:03Well, do you think Minnie May is gonna make a comeback? Mini
- 22:07May Almita that was her full name. Yeah, Mini, I don't think
- 22:11that's going to make a comeback. Well, I mean you got mouse Mini
- 22:14MOUs. Yeah, she's going strong, she is. I wonder if she
- 22:19was named after Minnie. I don't know. She was kind of a bitch,
- 22:22so I didn't really interact with her that much. Wow May she rusty?
- 22:26Thanks Grandma wave at the floor. Wow. Okay, moving on.
- 22:34So they were able to obtain DNA sample from Fain, retest and confirm and
- 22:40it was a definite match. Now that they had their DNA match, they
- 22:44looked at other evidence in the case. At the time that Linda was murdered,
- 22:48Fain was driving in nineteen seventy six white board pickup truck, matching the
- 22:52description of the eyewitnesses. They also pulled photos a Fain from a decade before,
- 23:00and he looked just like the composite sketch that they had created back in
- 23:03nineteen eighty seven. They went back to witnesses from that time, and when
- 23:07shown his photo, he was immediately recognized as the unidentified man Linda had been
- 23:12with. I mean, seriously, these people are just gonna remember anybody with
- 23:17shoulder length there, Okay, if you're no, If your friend got murdered,
- 23:22every that person's image would be seared in my brain for the rest of
- 23:25my life. You know, whenever I saw him again, I would be
- 23:27like, that's that person, the friend that she showed up at the barns.
- 23:30Yeah, that was I'm talking about the neighbor that saw a guy with
- 23:33shoulder lenked long hair from well it was it was specifically the person at the
- 23:37stables. But yes, the person that saw him, well, I don't
- 23:41know. I probably might remember that too, be like, oh my god,
- 23:42I don't even remember this face because you don't know. You don't You've
- 23:47never been a witness to a crime like me, Stuart, So you don't
- 23:48don't know if I have been, or you haven't, or you would have
- 23:52told me already. Well, I don't know if I saw I've been to
- 23:55witness the crime of fashion every day looking at juston Wow, me I love
- 24:04a good cardigan, Stewart, don't you say anything about my cardigans. I'm
- 24:08already managed. You don't make it worse. Yeah. Yeah. When I
- 24:11met you, you were like an old lady. You're an old lady.
- 24:15You're like, I don't want to go out? Well, so eight o'clock,
- 24:18Yeah, go out? Why would I want to go out? I
- 24:22got Yeah, why would I want to go out? I got I got
- 24:25a cheap booze here, I got TV, you got date Line, I
- 24:30got a comfortable couch, I got my cart I got my sleep cardigan.
- 24:36What my sleep sweater? What? What? Why would I want to go
- 24:38out? You did have? I do have. I still have sleep sweaters,
- 24:42but I had a very I had very specific sleep sweaters. When me,
- 24:45it's it's sleep sweaters are and it's kind of a running joke with me
- 24:49and my friends. So I bought them their own sleep sweaters. I'm like,
- 24:52you don't sleep like it's a sleep sweater. It's a cardigan. That's
- 24:55like your sleep sweater. And then what it thinks you're insane? They did
- 25:00think I was insane. Whatever, you married it, you reproduced with it.
- 25:04I saw the red flags and I thought it was a carnival. You're
- 25:14an idiot. So anyway, they were able to place Linda and Thing together
- 25:21at both the horse stables and a local bar in Arlington. Now with all
- 25:26the evidence, they knew that they had Linda's killer, and it would not
- 25:29be hard to keep the track of him since he was already doing time in
- 25:33prison. Don't don't done what the old thing do? Now? Please learn
- 25:38that Faint is already serving a life sentence for the murder of thirty nine year
- 25:41old Sandra Dumont. We hunt ourselves, zero killers, do we do?
- 25:47Yes? Did he kill three? And to kill three? Just wait for
- 25:49us? Do? I thought you wrote these cases? Motherfucker? I thought
- 25:52you wrote these cases. I wrote the first party. Oh yeah, I'm
- 25:56just responsible from here on out. Yeah, okay, sure, I'm just
- 26:00the talent. What do you want it from me? I'd like you to
- 26:04show up and I'm here and be the talent. Then. Wow, I
- 26:10don't know what that means. I don't either, all right, So,
- 26:15so thirty nine year old Sandra Dumont. Sandra was a thirty nine year old
- 26:18resident of Round Rock, Texas, and worked as a card dealer in an
- 26:22Austin nightclub. Now She was last seen alive on July twenty fifth, nineteen
- 26:26ninety four, at her place of work and had been reported missing. Her
- 26:30body was found on August twelfth, nineteen ninety four, after a police officer
- 26:34found her abandoned car in a field. Now, they tried to contact her,
- 26:38but we're unable to reach her. So that's when they started looking further
- 26:41into it and discovered she had been missing for weeks. Sandra had a broken
- 26:47jaw and had been shot in the head. Her body was found on private
- 26:51property at the intersection of Louise Hannah Boulevard in County Road one sixty nine and
- 26:56Round Rock. If you're familiar with the area, I would think would be
- 27:00pronounced Louis Oh, Louis Louis. What did I say, Louis Louise,
- 27:07Yeah, Louise Louis Oh. It needed to be an e on the end
- 27:11Louis Hannah Boulevard and Stewart. You just I'm already mad at you. Do
- 27:17you have to just continue on? No, I'm still mad at you now.
- 27:22Back in nineteen ninety four, it was a cow pasture. Present day,
- 27:26it isn't a apartment complex now. Shockingly, along with Sandra's body being
- 27:30found that day. Just a few hundred feet away was another woman's body.
- 27:36It was identified as thirty eight year old Darlene Anderson. Now, Darlene had
- 27:41died from a blow to the head with a blunt object. Now, Darlene
- 27:45was last seen alive on June twenty seventh, nineteen ninety four, and it
- 27:48was unlike her to be late for work, as she was described as being
- 27:52very punctual by her co workers at the Austin Semiconductor plant plant and just added
- 27:59that Austin Semiconductor. Now a group of over seven hundred volunteers, some on
- 28:04horseback, went out looking for Darline in mid July with no luck. Now,
- 28:07one of the people who helped with the search for Darline was actually old
- 28:12Roger Faine himself, and this is ultimately what got him caught. Now,
- 28:17on the day of the search, the savvy detectives do because they knew better
- 28:22they've been growing up watching their date lines in there. They now that the
- 28:26murder is to be so involving himself. So they wrote down every single volunteer's
- 28:32name and proceeded to do criminal background checks on all of them, which is
- 28:36pretty impressive for seven hundred people. And like we said, it's not uncommon
- 28:40for a killer to place themselves in the investigation by either attending search parties,
- 28:44is attending funerals, actively trying to help the police being you know, calling
- 28:48them up on a women saying yeah, they want to be in they want
- 28:52to be in it, you know. They I don't know if they makes
- 28:55them think that they look less guilty, or they just want to be in
- 28:59the No to know if they're someone's getting close to catching them. So Fain
- 29:03lived about a half mile from Darling and was familiar with her. Now,
- 29:06when they searched his background, they had their prime suspect based on what was
- 29:11in that criminal record. Now old Fain had an extensive criminal history, starting
- 29:15back when he was sixteen years old in Florida, where he grew up.
- 29:21In nineteen seventy, he was accused of raping a thirty three year old woman.
- 29:25In the nineteen seventies and eighties in Florida, he had several felony convictions
- 29:30for burglary, robbery, and kidnapping. Just casual, just just run of
- 29:37the mill. Now, in May of nineteen ninety one, he was arrested
- 29:40near Brownsville Texas on charges of kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault. Fain was convicted
- 29:47on a lesser charge of fawsome prisonment, and he went into the Texas prison
- 29:52system in nineteen ninety one. He was out on parole in nineteen ninety two
- 29:56due to prison overcrowding. Fuckers. I tell you, I know thee Well
- 30:02wait, we need to like let out too many criminals. Criminals. Yeah,
- 30:07I mean, but how did they because he was only charged with false
- 30:10imprisonment is how he got out? If they had actually I mean, where
- 30:15are they like plead down the charges and stuff like that, and then they're
- 30:18just the court system doesn't really they can't base if they're gonna what did he
- 30:23played down from kidnap? No, we shouldn't let this motherfucker. No,
- 30:26But I think that they have to just look at what I think at that
- 30:29point, no one's looking into it, that he's just a statistic in there,
- 30:33And I was like, oh, well, false imprisonment, Oh yeah,
- 30:34he can get out, But they don't really understand the whole backstory of
- 30:37what he's done and the type of person he is and how dangerous he is.
- 30:42But either way, I mean, let all these people out on drug
- 30:48I'd rather have the people on drug drug charges and the rapist and freaking kidnappers.
- 30:52Yeah, because they'll play down their gun charges like felons in possession of
- 30:57gun. I'm like, oh, I guess they never had a gun during
- 31:00the commission because they plattered out. Yeah. I mean like, let the
- 31:03people out on the drug charge to keep the people in on the freaking violence.
- 31:07Yeah, violent crime. Yeah, let's get the rapies, the rape
- 31:11rapist, Let's leave them in prison. Anyways, that's yes, that's our
- 31:18soap box for tonight hashtag Kara twenty twenty four soap. Now, when looking
- 31:25into his activities around the time of the murders, they found that he was
- 31:29driving a car that was seen in connection with Sandra. He had also visited
- 31:33a doctor on July twenty sixth, the day after Sandra went missing, for
- 31:37a fractured hand. Now, this is Sandra. This is the first woman
- 31:42that was discovered with the broken jaw that we're talking about. Why he's actually
- 31:47in jail. Yeah, not our original Linda that was murdered in her home
- 31:51in eight nineteen eighty seven. Now, the doctor's officially called it a boxer's
- 31:56fracture. Now, this is the type of fracture you would see from punching
- 31:59someone. This aligne with the fact that Sandra had a broken jaw and he
- 32:02would have punched her and injured his own hand. Police arrest Fain in connection
- 32:07with the murder of Sandra in nineteen ninety four in August. He was living
- 32:13with his estranged wife at the time. Come on, ladies, I'm living
- 32:17with my estranged wife right now. Yeah, he is. Actually, you're
- 32:22my estranged husband's pretty estranged right now. You still think we're married. I'm
- 32:28not referencing you as I do this podcast with my estranged husband. Wow.
- 32:35Now. Fain was held on a five million dollars bond and he went on
- 32:39trial in nineteen ninety five for the murder of Sandra. Five million dollars that's
- 32:44pretty pretty pricey back, especially in nineteen ninety four. That's like you ain't
- 32:47getting out. I don't care who you know. It's basically like nope,
- 32:52it's like we gotta set a bill, but we're gonna set it so high
- 32:53it doesn't matter a little shit bag like you come up with that kind of
- 32:58money. Now, during well, there's ship bags that come up with the
- 33:00money. They just wow. I mean he was he was a broke chip
- 33:06bag. There's there's rich ship bags that might be able to come up with
- 33:09them money. But there's still ship bags and they are they might be bags,
- 33:15they're rich, does not ship bags. Now, during his trial,
- 33:24he had an entourage of women who had become infatuated with the killer and they
- 33:30followed him from the Austin area over to East Texas where the trial was.
- 33:35Hell Damnity's Texas. Come on, well, these are the Austin these are
- 33:39the group These are murder groupies. They did exist, you hear about it.
- 33:43Yes, they're happening right now. I mean everywhere. Look at Tom
- 33:46Sandoval. He's still got people going to his concerts. The fact that you
- 33:52know, who's Tom Sandoval is makes me happy. But how do I know?
- 33:54You put on no anyways? Yeah, he had like we said,
- 33:59he had that law almost like fabio type pair that he was. I don't
- 34:04want to give him credit or anything, but he wasn't. He wasn't a
- 34:07heinous looking man or anything. That's how he was able to get a lot
- 34:13of these women to be around him as because he was pretty slick and he
- 34:17was good looking and kind of like the whole Ted Bundy situation. He was
- 34:22able to manipulate these women into trusting him and then attacking them well anyway,
- 34:30so he had his groupies. Unfortunately, there was a little too much plublicity
- 34:35about this thing in the Round Rock area, so hid giving conflicting stories on
- 34:40how he broke his hand to his friends. He told one of them at
- 34:45one time that he had slammed it underneath the hood of his truck, and
- 34:47add another time to a different friend that his toolbox had fallen on it.
- 34:52Yeah, if you break your hand, it's a pretty clear story. Like
- 34:57you're not gonna be wishy washed on that break my hand unless I'm just like
- 35:01completely drunk or I mean like, yeah, I'm drunk. I was drunk
- 35:06and I something happened and I broke my hand. But I mean, well,
- 35:08we had that one drunk friend that actually kicked that thermis and split her
- 35:12foot wide open, and she was really drunk. She was like, yeah,
- 35:15I kicked this thermis and I split my foot wid Yeah, And the
- 35:19story didn't change even though she was drunk, because she someone told her like,
- 35:22hey, yeah, this is what happened. Kick this thing like you're
- 35:24kicking a field goal, and she did, and then she was in the
- 35:28hospital with like, how are many stitches in her foot? I know this
- 35:32friend? Yes, okay, we won't name her bike, we won't name
- 35:36her by name. I'll tell you after Okay. But if you break your
- 35:42hand, you know how you broke your hand. It's not something that happens
- 35:46like. It's not like a scratch on your leg like sometimes you'd be like,
- 35:49oh, I don't know how I got this scratch on my leg.
- 35:51I have no clue. But if I broke my hand, I know how
- 35:53I broke my hand. I'm saying that story the same to every person.
- 35:57If I go onto the doctor and my coxus is fractured, I know how
- 36:00I cracked my fractured my coxus. Studs have some coxus. I got some
- 36:06issues or is it cox eye? I can't remember. I don't know,
- 36:09But you're gonna have some cock issues. It's coxus. No, why are
- 36:15you gonna be You're gonna have some other type of issues anyone my anger.
- 36:21Neither of those explanations lined up with the type of fracture that old Fan had.
- 36:27He also had a picture of the field where the women were found.
- 36:31Now after twelve hours of deliberation. The jury found Fan guilty of murder,
- 36:38thankfully because it was back in nineteen ninety four, so I don't think they
- 36:42had a lot of DNA evidence. But like we said, that Boxer's fracture
- 36:45was very very specific injury and it just comes from punching someone. I mean,
- 36:50these doctors, they know, they didn't go to medical school for nothing.
- 36:53I don't know, sometimes it seems like they did. These days.
- 36:57Well yeah, you kind of wonder where they just wont access to the pers
- 37:02now. Fain was sent us to twenty five years to life. He was
- 37:07never charged with Darlene's murder, the other lady that was found in the same
- 37:10field, because they didn't have enough evidence, although it was clear that he
- 37:15had murderer too, murdered her too, murder her her. Also sorry,
- 37:22Our dog's just like he's on his last leg. He's on his last leg.
- 37:25He's fine though right now I have a stroke, could fall over.
- 37:29We're just on No, I'm not laughing about the dog passing away. But
- 37:31he has lived a very good life, a very long good life. So
- 37:36a parking lot dog he was. He was whin Dixie. We found him
- 37:39in the win Dixie parking lot and we picked him up because he was scared
- 37:44about a storm and we were just going to bring him home and try to
- 37:46find someplace for him to live. And next thing you know, we're freaking
- 37:51heartwarms. It's thirteen years later. Yeah, he had heartwarms. We found
- 37:53him and then he had he had like an issue with low white blood cell
- 37:58counsel. He couldn't get the treatments and we had to pay for him to
- 38:00take all the medication. Then there was a shortage of the heartworm medication,
- 38:05so the treatment so then he finally got it. But he's lived a very
- 38:08good life. He is ready to move on when he whenever he whenever he
- 38:14passes, it'll be sad, but he has I will know that he We
- 38:16gave him a really good life. So anyways, he's fine right now,
- 38:20though he's still he's just terrible. I don't know what he's got now.
- 38:24FA was, well, I know what's wrong with you? They said,
- 38:28the vet said, because he had the heartworms all those years ago. This
- 38:31is what happened to our other dog who Yeah, when we are our other
- 38:37dog Bear, we adopted him and he had had heartworms before we adopted him
- 38:43in the adoption agency or whatever, the pet what are they called the pet
- 38:47rescue place they had treated him, so that finally caught up to him.
- 38:52So once they have heartworms, they said, it usually catches up to him
- 38:54later in life. That damage that was done and they end up with congestive
- 38:59heartfel and there's really not much you can do about it. Anyways. Anyways,
- 39:04don't send me your emails about how we can treat it. Okay,
- 39:07we've already talked to Yeah, we don't. I don't want to hear about
- 39:10it. It's fun, he's everything's good. Bear has moved on. Bear.
- 39:15Yeah, Bear passed away. That was really tragic. That was I
- 39:19felt that was really terrible because he had a sudden heart failure. It was.
- 39:22It was really bad. I was pregnant. I was anyways, I
- 39:27was out of town. Start town. It was really bad. He started,
- 39:30Oh, this isn't the podcast for that, so we'll just move on.
- 39:35Yeah, I was trying to mow one. Okay, well whatever,
- 39:37move on some going to this whole thing. Maybe I need therapy, I
- 39:43don't know, Stuart. Now Fain was seen with both Sandra and Darlene.
- 39:47If you forgot because Kara went off on a tangent around town leading up to
- 39:52both of their gats. Stewart, you're on thin fucking ice. Okay,
- 39:55well I've been on fucking iye since I'm atting. It's true and suddenly and
- 40:00you just like to tap dance all over it pass in my life. Anyways,
- 40:09back in Arlington, this is back to Linda's murder. They continue to
- 40:15typhon to Linda's murder. He had met his wife, Sandra and Linda all
- 40:21through horses. So this is the estranged wife Sandra Linda, this is his
- 40:25emo is the horses. Now. It seemed to be a way he could
- 40:30gain the women's trust and charm them by pretending to have this love of horses,
- 40:34because I've never I'm not, uh, I like horses. I've never
- 40:39really ridden a horse. I've ridden one horse one time, just one time.
- 40:44But you know, people have a connection with their horse. They talk
- 40:46about how when they you know, they're riding their horse or whatever, it's
- 40:51like they're one being. You know, they have a real deep connection.
- 40:54So I'm sure that's the way he could ingratiate his way into these women's lives
- 41:00by talking about horses, because they felt so fondly about their horses. Now.
- 41:06In January of two thousand and six, Arlington Police charged Roger Fayne with
- 41:08the murder of Linda Donohue. In two thousand and seven, the case went
- 41:13to trial, and they felt very confident that they could get a conviction.
- 41:17They had lots of circumstantial evidence, eyewitnesses and the DNA evidence. Now,
- 41:22it only took the jury an hour to find Fayn guilty of Linda's murder.
- 41:25On December nineteenth, two thousand and seven, Fayne received another life sentence for
- 41:30Linda's murder. The judge rule that they would be served consecutively and prosecutors did
- 41:37not seek the death penalty in this, so that's why he got the life.
- 41:42That seems like Okay, Well, he's already in jail for life while
- 41:47he spending tax Tara Dollar put him my trial in. I think the bad
- 41:51penalty sat the motherfucker shoot him up with some sordium pentethal Okay, well,
- 41:57calm down, Stewart, I'm upset about this, okay. Anyways, police
- 42:01believe Fayne has killed more women than the three that they know of, which
- 42:06would be Linda, Sandra and Darlene. Now Roger Faine is currently serving out
- 42:10his prison sentences in the John B. Connolly unit near Kennedy, Texas,
- 42:15which is southeast of San Antonio. His next eligible pearl date is November twenty
- 42:21fourth, twenty twenty four. I highly doubt he's ever getting out. Well,
- 42:27if he does, now I can come find it. Because I didn't
- 42:29seek They didn't seek the death penalty. They really should have put a stop
- 42:31to this situation. Stewart. They they like appeal and appeal and a peal
- 42:37and it. Well, he can see why is he saking pearl? How
- 42:40is he eligible for pearl? I guess he's a because after so many years
- 42:45they are eligible. We've we've learned this after so many years. It doesn't
- 42:50matter. If it's a live sentences, there's sentence there without parole. You
- 42:53can get life without pearl. Like, okay, well he's eligible for pearl
- 42:57in November twenty I don't know name. Okay, I don't need any dresses.
- 43:00I need phone numbers for the people. I think that's illegal. I
- 43:05don't think that we can do that. Yeah, anyways, all right,
- 43:10so that's our case for this evening or this week. Student doesn't like when
- 43:15I name times and days. Oh so now all of a sudden, I
- 43:19can do it because I'm mad at you. You can do whatever you want.
- 43:22Oh, now I can do whatever I want, all right, Sue?
- 43:24So do you have your y'all need Jesus? Because you failed the last
- 43:28couple episodes? The last couple of episodes, well, well one of them,
- 43:31okay, you felled one episode. I didn't, yeah, because we
- 43:36said you didn't like George Jones. No, I'm talking about there was actually
- 43:40a not not a y'all need Jesus on one of our last episodes because I
- 43:45said, do you have a y'all need Jesus? And you said yes,
- 43:47but you didn't really, so I had to stop recording and then we never
- 43:52you never found a y'all need Jesus? So then I just had to splice
- 43:57in and take that part out because you didn't have one. So what do
- 44:01you have? Yeah, that really happened. Do you have I didn't tell
- 44:06you ano no, do you have no? Because I would have had to
- 44:09record something extra. So oh, I can talk about Vanderpup rules all day
- 44:15long if you'd like. Anyways, Um, do you have a y'all need
- 44:21Jesus? I would I do. Okay, well, would you like to
- 44:24say it? Now? What I like to tell you the story? Yes,
- 44:28of a jealous wife who stabbed her husband multiple times. Well, I'm
- 44:34not jealous, but I understand the stabbing part after finding pictures of him having
- 44:38sex with another woman on his telephone. Oh, this sounds like Vanderpup rules
- 44:45without I mean, Ariana did not stabb Tom, but I mean she did
- 44:50with her eyes. You know what I'm saying. There was definite daggers.
- 44:53This woman did not realize that the other woman was actually herself. God taken
- 45:02years earlier. Oh, she stabbed her husband to death over having sex with
- 45:07herself. I mean with him having sex with her and recording it. He
- 45:09didn't die, Oh thank god. I mean that's pretty bad. So,
- 45:14I mean, I'm happy for him because Florida not Florida is the next question.
- 45:17This feels Jersey to me, But I don't know. This feels like,
- 45:21I mean, it could be a Jersey thing. A jealous wife has
- 45:24been arrested in Mexico. Oh, Mexico. Okay, she was probably from
- 45:30originally from Jersey, but she's she's an ex pat in Mexico. You think.
- 45:36Yeah. She reportedly stabbed her husband in a blind rage when she found
- 45:40old photos on his cell phone of him having sex with another woman, failing
- 45:45to realize as the images were actually of her. The woman, identified police
- 45:52only as Leonora Are, was arrested last week after law enforcement worst summoned to
- 45:59my home in the municipality of Mexican Words, no tor reports of a domestic
- 46:08dispute. So we're just not even gonna try to mispronounce the words. We're
- 46:13just gonna say some it was let me see Jimmy, Let me see Jimmy
- 46:21Sonora Hime. Sure the jay is going to be like hazeus, like come,
- 46:29let's go come himme. Samora. If you speak Spanish, please write
- 46:34in and tell us how terrible we are. Well tell Carol now Win our
- 46:37officers, at least you just were gonna say whatever. They found that Leonora's
- 46:43husband, Juan Stus, had been stabbed multiple times. Let me see that
- 46:52once, let me see that or does it say one stu is? Does
- 47:07it say Stu now had been stabbed multiple times on his legs and arms,
- 47:15So it never said one stu is. No, that's a play on your
- 47:21name. Yes, okay. The violent attack was reportedly sparked after I mean,
- 47:25Leonora found explicit photos on one cell phone showing him having sex with whom
- 47:34she believed to be another woman, without giving him time to explain himself,
- 47:39leads him when he's you gotta, you gotta, you gotta do a sneak
- 47:45attack. You gotta stab while the iron's clean. Yeah, you can't let
- 47:50him know, let him have time to to to create the lie up in
- 47:53his head. You just gotta go for it. Yeah, So, without
- 47:58giving him time to explain himself. Might have been a stick on Lenora's part
- 48:01in this in this instance, but every other instance. Don't let the man
- 48:05have time to think about it. Leonora allegedly began stabbing One over and over
- 48:12again. Please tell me these two are still together, while hurling insults at
- 48:15him. I mean, it wouldn't really be a domestic situation unless she was
- 48:22insults insulting while she was stabbing him. Police said. One was eventually able
- 48:28to wrestle the knife out of his incense wife's hands and asked her what photos
- 48:34she was talking about. Oh, one, I shall feel so bad for
- 48:38you. He then explained to her that the photos were actually of him and
- 48:44Leonora, taken years earlier, when they were just dating. Leonora reportedly didn't
- 48:51immediately recognize herself because the woman in the Inja's images was younger, thinner,
- 48:58and wearing makeup. According I mean, we've all been this is the natural
- 49:02progression. We stopped. We get older, we might put on a few
- 49:08love pounds, we stopped wearing makeup. We're like, we don't need to.
- 49:12We got him locked in. It happens, ladies. I could just
- 49:15see her like stabbing him and then deep like she's still slowly stabbing him,
- 49:22and she's like, oh, I look good. The next thing I said,
- 49:30Oh my god, I look so good. One told police that he
- 49:35then explained to his wife that he had recently found the images in an old
- 49:38meet email and saved them to his phone. Well because he was like,
- 49:42heck, yeah, yeah. It was so old that they couldn't text him
- 49:45before my young hot wife. They had to email him back. When she
- 49:51soon realized that she was actually the woman depicted in the pictures, Reports say
- 49:57Leonora was immediately taken into custody and remind remains behind bars. Penny charges,
- 50:06did they stay together? And well, I don't know what'll happen that we'll
- 50:08happen. I feel like one's done some other things to elicit that type of
- 50:14reaction without explanation. I feel like one has some other discretions in his past
- 50:19and this was the tip of the iceberg. And then she I don't think
- 50:22this was a one off incident. Well, the story comes to us from
- 50:28January twenty twenty one. So so if Leonora and Wan, if you're out
- 50:32there and you're listening, please let us know are you still together? We'd
- 50:37like to know. We would like to know. Well, there was that
- 50:39couple that, oh there the couple that try to kill each other that we
- 50:44did. Yes, they stayed, they were together for fifty years. Still
- 50:49haven't watched that. Yeah, yeah, anyways, all right, well,
- 50:53I guess we can watch that now that our podcast shows are based on a
- 50:59true story. I swear to God, no one is paying us to tell
- 51:01you about this. I mean they really should, but because I could sell
- 51:05it, guys, I could sell it. But it's a great show.
- 51:07Anyways. Um, well, stud you came through on that. Y'all need
- 51:12Jesus I might forgive you for all your transigissi a qussions from earlier today.
