Former South Carolina QB Stephen Garcia, 38, is preparing for surgery after completing chemo and radiation for stage four colorectal cancer — a battle he’s openly shared since May, urging others to seek medical help when something feels off. Once a Gamecock legend who led an upset win over 1 Alabama in 2010 and later played professionally, Garcia now coaches quarterbacks in Tampa while launching “Quarterback Your Health,” a nonprofit to empower others through early detection and proactive care.
