- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Today we are accompanied by construction, rice field fires, barking dogs, and scooters.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Oh my.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: That was four, not three.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: So the beat didn't really work.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Lions and tigers and bears.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Oh my.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Rice field fires and dogs and scooters and construction.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Oh my.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I'm Blizzard Planet.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: This is Self-Friendship Podcast, where playfulness meets societal reflection.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Imagine this,
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: you hopped on the band rocket and now you're on Planet Butter,
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: a world made of delicious,
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: sparkly peanut butter.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And an adorable disco ball of self-reflection is whirling around in her transforming convertible.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Thanks for joining me in my 38th episode where I'll be sharing my answer to last
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: week's question,
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: a word replacement for compare,
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: how to eat a sandwich,
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: a perspective dance with confusion,
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: how to perpetually upgrade,
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: a party of one, what to say when someone cuts you off, and so much more.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And as always, a brand new question at the end for all of us to self-reflect and self-connect.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And email me if you desire, selffriendshippodcast at gmail.com.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: My answer to last week's question of the week,
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: which was,
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: what's your handwriting style and what do you think it says about your limiting beliefs?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: So I intentionally did not do any additional research on this because I believe in
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: sometimes giving ourselves the gift of wonder.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: We have the luxury of access to all sorts of information at our literal fingertips,
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: but we don't always need to know.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: We like to know things because we're humans and our greatest skill is learning.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: This is why wonder is a gift.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So sometimes I share things on self-friendship podcasts that are things I simply
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: wonder about,
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: but consciously choose not to research.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Maybe later on I will, but maybe the moment will pass and my inspiration will lead me to something else.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: That said,
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: well,
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: first,
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: second,
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: I feel inclined to share,
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: which you may or may now know,
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: every day I practice writing with my dominant and non-dominant hand.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: My attitude is I'm fortunate enough to have both.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Why not use them?
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: So my handwriting with each hand
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: is different.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: My left hand is my dominant hand and has about 15 years more practice writing than my right hand.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: So my handwriting with my left hand for the most part is pretty large and I use all
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: capital letters and I also like flow the letters together instead of picking my pen
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: up off the page.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like script in that way, but it's not script and it's not consistent at all.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: I never know when I'm going to do that.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: It just happens.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: And my right hand writing is also pretty big and I use all capital letters,
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: but I don't have a flow with it yet.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: It's still like really sloppy and slow.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: It's cute though.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: As for what I think this says about my limiting beliefs,
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: maybe the fact that I tend to write with large letters and take up a lot of space
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: while also flowing my letters together.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: I think that might mean.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: that my limiting beliefs,
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: though they're present,
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: they don't concern me and I'm willing to acknowledge and transcend them in a bold,
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: spacious way.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: That's the best I got.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Let me know what you come up with.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: SelfFriendshipPodcast at gmail.com.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Now a word replacement for compare.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Relate.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: That's what we're really doing.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: I landed on this one when I was doing my daily writing with both hands.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I wrote, it's fun to see what my left brain says related to my right.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Because when I write with my left hand, I'm stimulating my right hemisphere of my brain.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: And when I'm writing with my right hand, I'm stimulating the left part of my brain.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: So I figure I have to be producing different ideas and sentences because of the
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: difference in stimulation.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: And I think it's extra cool to relate the two.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: That's what strengthens my analytically creative ways.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: relating the two.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: If I were comparing the two,
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: I would be compartmentalizing them from one another as if they are separate entities,
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: but really it's my one whole brain.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Now how to eat a sandwich.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: I thought of this when I was eating a giant tuna melt on sourdough with avocado,
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: jalapenos and cheddar cheese.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: It was really good.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: And I was sitting next to the pool at my spa here in Bali just to set the scene.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: If you don't already know this,
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: the key to eating a big giant sandwich that's very messy is to never put it down
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: once you start.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: You can rest your hands while holding the sandwich.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Take some breaths.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: have a laugh, chat with a friend, but never let go of the sandwich.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Now, let's consider that our hands are our adult self, and the sandwich is our childhood self.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Our childhood self is big and messy, right?
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Years of development, years of conditioning,
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Lot of stuff going on there.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: But our adult self has the ability to hold our child self.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Gradually,
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: we take little bites out of our childhood self,
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: savoring each moment as we self-reflect and self-connect.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: And over time, as we digest those pieces of our childhood, there's less of the messy sandwich.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: And our hands, our adult selves are freer.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: That's a good one.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: A perspective dance with confusion.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: I said this in passing to someone the other day and it struck me as equal parts funny and valuable.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: So here we are.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Confusion is the most fun part of learning.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: I love to be confused.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: If I'm not confused, I'm probably not learning enough.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Are you confused?
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: I hope so.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: That means you're learning.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Yay.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Beautifully following the previous little note, how to perpetually upgrade.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Let's do it, guys.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: We are creatures of learning.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: It is our greatest skill set.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: So with the understanding that we are ever learning,
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: we can shift our focus to recognize that in moments of challenge or seemingly
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: negative experiences,
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: we can realize that the universe is asking us,
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: are you willing to upgrade?
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Because if you do the shit that you know you need and want to do,
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: The universe, which is infinite, which means abundance, we live in abundance.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: While we are here to perpetually learn, we can perpetually upgrade as well.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: Match the lessons with the abundance of the universe and realize that our evolution
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: is designed to perpetually upgrade.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: When you practice self-friendship, embracing, understanding, and enjoying ourselves.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Honor your boundaries, become more confident, and be more in alignment, and get those damn upgrades.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: You can do it.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Okay, now a self-friendship article snippet from August 14th, 2024, titled, Everything We Do Is Art.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Ickle.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: I can't not appreciate that article starts with art and I can't help be,
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: I can't help,
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: but be curious about the suffix.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: And as you may or may now know,
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: I love to focus on a fact and nurture it with my playfulness and optimism.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Therein lies my so-called perspective dancing.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Here on Planet Butter, we'll define art as human expression.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: ickle,
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: which I giggle at every time I say,
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: you,
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: I first want to appreciate that ickle on its own from an English alphabet standpoint,
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: without knowing its history,
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: which I will share in a moment,
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: would be pronounced as icel.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: However,
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: because the term article is commonly used in the English language,
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: we've all been conditioned to pronounce it as ickle.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Now that we've appreciated the silliness of ickle,
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: let's be our playfully intellectual selves and appreciate that ickle on its own
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: derives from the Latin diminutive words,
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: The Latin diminutive suffix,
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: iculus,
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: which is used to indicate something that is a small part of something larger.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Article.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: Human expression plus a small part of something larger.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: We can view every single action that we take as an article.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Every action being a small form of our human expression.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Art.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: and the individual action as a small part of our whole selves and the universe at large.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Ickle.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Planet Butters mission, united individualism, independently, together.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: Articles.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Our self-friendship practice is our human expression, our existence, our conscious creativity, our art.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: Hmm, a note on the English language.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: You know how sometimes parts of a word or letters in English are pronounced
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: differently based on the other letters in the word,
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: like how I just referenced with the term article?
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: It's the same with our self-friendship practice.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Who we surround ourselves with alters how we show up, how we are received, perceived, and expressed.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Think about that.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Now, a party of one.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: As a loving reminder,
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: party of one means having fun with oneself,
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: for oneself,
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: as oneself,
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: anywhere,
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: everywhere,
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: no matter who's there.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: We become our party of one by consistently practicing self-friendship.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Each episode,
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: I share little tidbits from my life that happened thanks to me showing up as my
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: party of one.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: So walking on the streets of Canggu in Bali is absurd because every single scooter
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: that doesn't have a passenger on it,
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: the driver that passes always asks,
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: miss,
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: miss,
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: ride,
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: miss,
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: where are you going?
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Some of them are hustling, some are flirting, and some think it's funny, which I heavily respect.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: However, if I wanted a ride, I would not be walking.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: I would already be on my ride.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: So it can be really fucking annoying to be constantly talked at when I'm trying to enjoy my walk.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: And it's especially annoying if I'm on the phone or voice noting and someone's
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: yelling in my face,
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: distracting me.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: My focus is very precious.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: A lot of the time,
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: I unfortunately have to ignore them because I don't want to invest my energy in
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: responding to every single scooter who abruptly enters my personal space.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: So in my party of one ways...
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: Sometimes when I feel like answering them, I started saying, where are you going?
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Because they go, where are you going?
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Where are you going?
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: And I go, where are you going?
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: It's just simple and silly.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: And when they beep at me to get my attention, I'll look at them and I say, beep, beep.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: I thought about buying a little horn to walk around with.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: but I don't really want to spend my time on that at all.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: But it would be fun.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Nonetheless, I think these answers are really funny.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: And usually they laugh too, which makes it extra funny.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: And I actually want to highlight once more how I don't answer many of them because
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: I do notice that a lot of people say,
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: no,
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: thank you.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Every time they're offered a ride.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: And I just want to remind everyone, you actually don't need to be polite all of the time.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we need to conserve our energy and they're invading your personal space.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: Your boundary can be ignoring them.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: It's perfectly okay.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: What to say when someone cuts you off, speaking of scooters and traffic and such.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Say to yourself, it must be really important.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: And say it in a funny voice to make yourself laugh.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: So like, it must be really important.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Something that you will laugh at.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: It'll diffuse any momentary frustration you initially experience.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: Don't take it
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: personally.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: You didn't get cut off.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Someone else has whatever their priorities are.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: You have yours and also chill out.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: You'll get where you want to be or need to be whenever you're meant to and the
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: timing will be how it's meant to.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: Now a note on self doubt.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: Self doubt can show up in a healthy dose.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Healthy doubt equals discomfort and preparation.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Oftentimes,
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: we're doubting ourselves in relation to something new,
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: exciting,
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: or intimidating,
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: or all three.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: This can be healthy.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: When we think or feel doubt in relation to any of these types of experiences,
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: we can remind ourselves that it's part of the process of receiving our upgrade.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: Our willingness to upgrade
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: is reflected to us throughout these moments of what is naturally oscillation,
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: wavering between who we've been and who we're becoming.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Who we've been subconsciously feels safer,
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: so we need to demonstrate our willingness to receive our upgrade to both ourselves
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: and the universe by consciously overriding our subconscious in these moments of doubt.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: We do this by consistently reminding ourselves that this discomfort is preparation for that upgrade.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: That we are upgrading.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Then the doubt perspective dances into optimism.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: When we are solution-oriented and have an undying optimism,
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: we create the foundation for the willingness to have fun while embracing,
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: understanding,
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: and enjoying ourselves.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Self-friendship.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: It's a daily practice.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Have fun with your life by becoming best friends with yourself and perpetually upgrade.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Again, are you willing to upgrade?
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Go get your upgrade.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: Now a perspective dance with low energy.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: We can be high vibes and low energy.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Think of low energy as relaxation rather than low mood.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: When we are relaxed, we are happy, just calm.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Too often, low energy is correlated to low mood and low vibes.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: Consider it.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Knowing better versus being better.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Our self-talk is a conversation between who we want to be and who we've been.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: It's the dance between knowing better and being better.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: It's responding to the mirrors around us and identifying which mirrors we want to
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: continue to look in and which we want to respond to differently.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: When we experience a triggering interaction,
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: we can optimize these moments by doubling down on our self-friendship practice.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: We can intensely self-connect and self-reflect during each and every confronting
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: interaction by asking ourselves,
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: is this a mirror of who I want to be or who I've been?
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: And, or, how would I respond to this if I were already the person that I want to be?
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: Marinate on it, write it down.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: Now, I love this one.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: One plus one equals eight.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: One whole who is embodying self-friendship and another one whole person who is
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: embodying self-friendship coming together equals eight,
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: which is abundance,
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: infinity.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Planet Butter's mission is united individualism, independent, together.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: One plus one equals eight.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: One whole plus one whole equals eight.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Expansion.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: Yay, partnership.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, a perspective dance.
- 18:58Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: A perspective dance with rejection.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: I don't believe in rejection.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: In all facets of life, I don't get rejected.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: I'm a voice actor in industry where people love to talk about how often they get rejected.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: But that's all a perspective game.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Hence why we're here, a perspective dance.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: There's either alignment or there's not.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: And whatever's meant for me is meant for me.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: Sure, in someone else's mind, they may have rejected me, but that's their perspective.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: As far as I'm concerned, which is all that matters, we weren't aligned.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: Now Blizzard's blictionary term
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: The phrase,
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: in my humble opinion,
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: makes me giggle because I don't think I've ever heard anybody use that phrase in a
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: humble way.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: The mere fact that someone is saying they or their opinion is humble is indeed not humble.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: It's mostly used as sarcasm or to reduce the pressure from the person speaking.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: In other words,
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: to limit responsibility or ownership of the opinion,
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: which in my humble arrogant,
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: that's the blizzard's dictionary word opinion is really fucking lame.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Nothing is cooler than being grounded in yourself and having an opinion.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Self-friendship.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Humbleridon, an adjective, the definition, someone who is equal parts modest, self-aware, and confident.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Ta-da!
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: Now a new affirmation.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: I'm who I want to be.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: I'm where I want to be.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: And I'm doing what I want to do.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: And I'm becoming more of all of it.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: I'm who I want to be.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: I'm where I want to be.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: And I'm doing what I want to do.
