- 0:42Welcome to Sunday, Sunday.
- 1:02What is going on, everybody?
- 1:04Welcome to Sunday, Sunday,
- 1:07Sunday Night CrossFit Talk.
- 1:10We are here and we are live on
- 1:12a Sunday night.
- 1:13So good to be with you.
- 1:16Don't forget to like and subscribe.
- 1:18It means a lot to us.
- 1:22YouTube's going through a scrub again.
- 1:26Just my fragile little heart.
- 1:27I just need a couple little subscribers
- 1:31added to our tally.
- 1:34Just saying.
- 1:36That's it.
- 1:37Mark Phillips says there's a gun show
- 1:39again.
- 1:42It's summer, Mark.
- 1:43Thank you.
- 1:44I've been working hard in the lab.
- 1:47I really appreciate the comments.
- 1:55Oh, oh, they must mean Jamie.
- 2:01Uh, whoop, hit that one.
- 2:02Sorry.
- 2:03Um, so, oh man,
- 2:06I've been working my tail off this
- 2:08weekend.
- 2:10I think I think I can get a
- 2:13car in my garage now.
- 2:14Ooh, that's exciting.
- 2:17It's really exciting.
- 2:19It's been years.
- 2:20It's been years since we could get a
- 2:22car in the garage.
- 2:26I was out there today and,
- 2:27and Julie was out there with me.
- 2:29And when it's just me,
- 2:31like I just pitch,
- 2:33like if we haven't used it,
- 2:35it's going in the garbage.
- 2:37And today Julie's like stacking things on
- 2:39the shelf.
- 2:40And I'm like,
- 2:41when was the last time we have used
- 2:42that?
- 2:45And she's like,
- 2:47all you do is yell at me.
- 2:48Every time I come over to this shelf,
- 2:49I'm just going to stop helping.
- 2:51And I'm like, well, maybe.
- 2:57You're not helping.
- 3:00Well, and I keep telling it,
- 3:01and I said this last week on the
- 3:02show, like,
- 3:03we're planning to move back to
- 3:04Pennsylvania to retire.
- 3:06Now, that is not tomorrow.
- 3:07That is like seven, eight years from now.
- 3:11And I'm just to the point where I
- 3:13don't want to pack all this up.
- 3:17Yeah.
- 3:17So if it's not something we're going to
- 3:19use, let's get rid of it.
- 3:24So I'm over,
- 3:27I'm past where the car would be.
- 3:30And now I'm working on the section where
- 3:33the gym will be.
- 3:37So as soon as I get that done,
- 3:39I'll have half as a gym,
- 3:41half for a car.
- 3:42Do you have stuff in the garage already
- 3:45for a gym?
- 3:45Yep.
- 3:46Or do you have nothing?
- 3:46You have some stuff.
- 3:48I have rings.
- 3:49I have bars.
- 3:50I have plates.
- 3:52I have wall ball, wall ball target.
- 3:54I have ab mat, kettlebells, dumbbells.
- 4:02Yeah, I've got a pretty good gym.
- 4:03So you have some stall mats in there
- 4:05already?
- 4:06I do.
- 4:09Nice.
- 4:09But I think we're going to get rid
- 4:11of them and get new ones.
- 4:18I just...
- 4:20Yeah.
- 4:22I just think it's like they're going to
- 4:24be too hard to clean.
- 4:26I see.
- 4:29I mean, I could get down and scrub.
- 4:32But is it worth it?
- 4:35I don't know.
- 4:35I mean,
- 4:35those stall mats are a pain to move.
- 4:38And they're not cheap.
- 4:42I know.
- 4:43If I keep them,
- 4:44maybe I'll move those to the back.
- 4:47And like...
- 4:51And I'll put the new ones up front.
- 4:53Right.
- 4:56So.
- 4:59I don't know if you know this,
- 5:00but Carolyn is texting us on the group
- 5:03chat as we're live on the air.
- 5:05Like, hey, Carolyn, we have a show.
- 5:09And she already told us she wouldn't be
- 5:11here tonight.
- 5:15She's giving us show content.
- 5:17It's fine.
- 5:20It's distracting.
- 5:22typing right now uh steam mop yeah yeah
- 5:30i mean i mean i can clean them
- 5:33it's fine i got yeah it's fine i'll
- 5:37just move them to the back so
- 5:46so we did working on that got all
- 5:48the all the dirt i need moved to
- 5:50the back moved now we're starting to build
- 5:52the patio with the bricks so i got
- 5:55all that started this weekend so super
- 6:01super super stoked for that uh because i
- 6:05feel like all the hard work is finally
- 6:07starting to pay off
- 6:11So I know you did something this weekend.
- 6:12We're not going to talk about it because
- 6:14we just need some time to digest.
- 6:20I need help finding a new TV show.
- 6:24Hmm.
- 6:26Because everything I'm watching right now
- 6:29is super, super intense.
- 6:30Yeah.
- 6:35Well, it's almost over.
- 6:35What?
- 6:36There's...
- 6:37I'm watching Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.
- 6:41Super intense.
- 6:42I'm watching Dutton Ranch.
- 6:46The Bear has not started off calm.
- 6:51Shoot, what is it?
- 6:54Oh, ponies.
- 6:57And they are all like super intense.
- 7:00I need something that's fun and comedic to
- 7:03laugh a little bit.
- 7:05Because right now, like,
- 7:07I'm only two episodes into The Bear.
- 7:09Man, I just catch a break.
- 7:12Just catch a break.
- 7:15Anything like that.
- 7:22Stop ignoring Tessa's comment.
- 7:24Can we see Jamie flex?
- 7:26That is,
- 7:27don't yell at me for ignoring the text.
- 7:30Jamie can flex anytime she wants.
- 7:33Well, there you have it.
- 7:34It's a quick one.
- 7:35That's all you get.
- 7:38That's all you get.
- 7:41So I saw Widow's Bay.
- 7:45That looks intense.
- 7:51I just finished off campus.
- 7:55That was a nice reprieve.
- 7:59I caught, I'm trying to think, there's
- 8:03like a like a teaching show that seemed
- 8:06pretty funny that i caught on a plane
- 8:08that i was gonna start watching but i
- 8:10never got into i see uh patrick says
- 8:17tires i haven't started that maybe that's
- 8:19a good one to start i've seen one
- 8:21episode of that um you guys are so
- 8:28uncouth say please
- 8:30Yeah, they're just demanding, Jamie.
- 8:32Like, dance, monkey, dance.
- 8:38Shay's like, unreal, Jamie.
- 8:41Pure Michigan steel.
- 8:45I did a ton of push-ups yesterday,
- 8:47so they're like extra swole.
- 8:51Eric Mackey started with Person of
- 8:53Interest.
- 8:54I watched that when it was out every
- 8:57episode.
- 8:57Loved that show.
- 9:00It was actually sad when it left the
- 9:02air.
- 9:05I think you would enjoy Shrinking.
- 9:06I did every episode of it.
- 9:08That's the problem.
- 9:09I've watched a lot of these shows.
- 9:11Yes,
- 9:12Abbott Elementary is the show I was
- 9:14talking about.
- 9:15I've tried Abbott Elementary a couple
- 9:16times.
- 9:18It seemed like it was really good.
- 9:20Couldn't get into it.
- 9:21Really?
- 9:23Julie's watched every episode.
- 9:25She loves it.
- 9:26Yeah.
- 9:31Okay.
- 9:32I don't know.
- 9:33Widows Bay has lots of comedy.
- 9:35CrossFetter, you're pulling my leg.
- 9:37I have not even heard of that show.
- 9:40I think it's on Apple TV.
- 9:42And I've been stuck on Apple TV.
- 9:46That's what Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is
- 9:48on.
- 9:53Okay, that makes sense,
- 9:55but I've never heard of that.
- 9:56Jamie,
- 9:56that show will knock your socks off.
- 9:58It sounds like something else.
- 10:01Well,
- 10:01that's because that's kind of the content.
- 10:03Oh, okay.
- 10:05So it's about a divorced woman who's
- 10:07looking to have someone to talk to and
- 10:10maybe a little bit more on the internet.
- 10:14And she witnesses him getting attacked.
- 10:19And she's trying to videotape her screen
- 10:21as the guy is attacking, being attacked.
- 10:24Okay.
- 10:26And then everything kind of goes on from
- 10:28there.
- 10:34I watched the first season of Terminal
- 10:36List for a couple episodes.
- 10:38Here's my problem with that, Jeremy.
- 10:41The lighting is so, so dark.
- 10:45I couldn't see what was happening.
- 10:48And I have a lot of windows in
- 10:49my living room.
- 10:50So if there's any sun out at all
- 10:53and it's all glare on my TV when
- 10:55the screen is black and I couldn't see
- 10:59what was going on.
- 11:03For Apple TV,
- 11:04Jim was telling me about a show.
- 11:07It's like an alien that comes in and
- 11:10takes over somebody's body,
- 11:13but he doesn't know how to be a
- 11:14human, so it's kind of funny.
- 11:16Does that ring any bells?
- 11:19No.
- 11:19I think it's only on Apple TV as
- 11:21well, because he had said it,
- 11:22and I was like, oh, well,
- 11:23I can't watch that.
- 11:25Maybe CrossFit will know what I'm talking
- 11:27about.
- 11:27It might be like Resident Alien or
- 11:29something like that.
- 11:32Lone Wolf is better, Scott.
- 11:33It's a prequel series.
- 11:34Okay, I'll check it out.
- 11:39And Jeremy calls me a boomer.
- 11:41But at least I'm not a Packers fan.
- 11:44I may be a boomer.
- 11:46Resident Alien it is.
- 11:49So check that one out.
- 11:51Okay.
- 11:53Yeah, Apple TV's just been...
- 11:55So I have that for Formula One.
- 11:59Because that's where Formula One airs.
- 12:02And then I've been watching.
- 12:05I started with Pluribus shrinking.
- 12:08Of course,
- 12:09Ted Lasso is coming out later this year.
- 12:12Stuff like that.
- 12:13Okay.
- 12:20I want to put this out to everybody.
- 12:21Over this week...
- 12:24This full week from tonight till July
- 12:28fifth show,
- 12:31any super chats will go to Jamie and
- 12:35Carolyn to get to the games.
- 12:40So I need to get a pen and
- 12:41paper.
- 12:45And just so you know,
- 12:46I will cover what YouTube takes away.
- 12:48Very kind of you.
- 12:51So whatever comes in on Super Chats will
- 12:54go into a pot for Jamie and Carolyn.
- 12:57I will send them a Venmo for half
- 13:01each to use to get to the games.
- 13:04But I wanted to give you guys all
- 13:05the opportunity to support them.
- 13:09And we'll do it tonight,
- 13:12all week on the lunch shows,
- 13:14and next Sunday night.
- 13:17Very kind of you, Scott.
- 13:20I wanted to put that out to everybody
- 13:23because we want to support them.
- 13:24They both qualified for the CrossFit
- 13:26Games.
- 13:27San Jose is not cheap.
- 13:28California is not cheap.
- 13:32And so we wanted to help support them.
- 13:36That's a funny comment, Avira.
- 13:38She thought you were independently
- 13:39wealthy.
- 13:40Not even a little bit.
- 13:44Not at all.
- 13:49Mark Phillips, I did just start that.
- 13:53The Sheep Detectives on Prime and got
- 13:57interrupted by my daughter.
- 13:58So I'll go back and finish that for
- 14:00sure.
- 14:03Look at that.
- 14:10Thank you, Vicki.
- 14:14Thank you, Vicki.
- 14:15There we go.
- 14:15Thank you.
- 14:18Just think about that.
- 14:19You already have lunch.
- 14:22Not even dependently wealthy, no.
- 14:29I'm going as a spectator.
- 14:31I would also appreciate your super chats.
- 14:33That's fair, Jeremy.
- 14:37Question of the week for Jamie.
- 14:39Would you rather redo all Legends
- 14:41semifinal workouts in a day or walk across
- 14:44a floor full of Legos barefoot?
- 14:54I mean,
- 14:56the floor of Legos is going to be
- 14:58like a minute, so probably that.
- 15:06Mark Phillips,
- 15:07throwing twenty dollars into the pot.
- 15:09Thank you, Mark.
- 15:12And I don't know what what can this
- 15:14twenty five months of membership do for
- 15:16you,
- 15:17but that's probably the money that's going
- 15:19to offset the YouTube fee.
- 15:24So thank you anyway, Kenneth,
- 15:25for your twenty five months of committed
- 15:29support of the show.
- 15:32I still think for what they charge for
- 15:34registration,
- 15:34the spectator ticket should be included
- 15:36for each Masters athlete.
- 15:38Amen.
- 15:39Absolutely.
- 15:42What if it's a huge floor?
- 15:43That's very fair.
- 15:47I didn't like hate the workouts.
- 15:52And like, other than that first one,
- 15:54they weren't really long.
- 15:55The last one was tough workout though,
- 15:58but it was, they were, I don't know.
- 16:02I don't really ever want to do the
- 16:03sandbag one.
- 16:03I hate sandbag workouts.
- 16:08Uh, there is a,
- 16:09he never thought in a million years I
- 16:10would declare my pronoun.
- 16:12Um, sorry about that.
- 16:15It's so tough with the screen names.
- 16:19So tough.
- 16:23um you gotta have like a picture in
- 16:26there so that we somewhat know uh jamie
- 16:30messed up doing that flex for free yeah
- 16:32should charge for the flex anything else
- 16:39going on this weekend before we dive into
- 16:41the uh i didn't get to do much
- 16:46of anything um i was at the gym
- 16:49all day yesterday literally
- 16:52Trying to get, like, a few workouts in.
- 16:55And then programming.
- 16:59Did some stuff today.
- 17:01Spent a while at the gym today.
- 17:02Went and saw my mother-in-law for dinner.
- 17:06So that was nice.
- 17:07Yeah, it's been a fairly low-key week.
- 17:12We're going to the lake.
- 17:14We'll be going to my sister.
- 17:15No.
- 17:16Well, so here's the thing.
- 17:18My sister is pretty wealthy.
- 17:21But that does not flow to me.
- 17:23They have a boat.
- 17:24We're going to their boat this weekend.
- 17:28So when you hear me say that,
- 17:29I'm going to the boat.
- 17:30I just have to go mooch off of
- 17:32my sister.
- 17:34So, yeah.
- 17:36We're going there Thursday through Sunday
- 17:37to Grand Haven.
- 17:39So we'll be on Lake Michigan.
- 17:50Jamie is not doing fresh coast.
- 17:53I am not, it is like,
- 17:55I literally like fly out the next day.
- 17:56I, I mean, I'm signed up.
- 17:58I'm on a team.
- 17:59Like I, so it's supposed to be Ronica,
- 18:01myself and Selena.
- 18:03Um,
- 18:03Selena actually announced earlier this
- 18:05week that she is pregnant.
- 18:07So I guess I can say that publicly.
- 18:09Um,
- 18:10so she already had like messaged me a
- 18:11couple of weeks ago and told me like
- 18:13she needed to back out.
- 18:13And I was like, Oh, thank God.
- 18:15Cause I was like freaking out on what
- 18:17to do.
- 18:17I didn't feel like I should compete.
- 18:19And then like fly out the next day.
- 18:22Um,
- 18:23but I probably would have done it.
- 18:25But so that,
- 18:26so Ronica is going to have Terry from
- 18:29the gym and Elise,
- 18:31one of our other friends that has done
- 18:32it.
- 18:33It's usually been Elise, Terry and Ronica.
- 18:35So they're just going to take over the
- 18:36team and do that.
- 18:38So no, I will not be competing.
- 18:40Are you going?
- 18:41I don't think I'm even going to go.
- 18:43I think I'm just going to,
- 18:46I think I'm just going to be packing
- 18:47and stuff.
- 18:47I don't,
- 18:49I've done a lot of driving less.
- 18:52I just, I don't know.
- 18:53It's like, like a lot of traveling.
- 18:56So probably not.
- 18:59It's nice to have a sister like that.
- 19:02Uh, Carolyn is bowling,
- 19:04so she can't really hear the conversation
- 19:06while too busy getting strikes.
- 19:09I want to know what your,
- 19:11what your games end up being Carolyn.
- 19:15Um,
- 19:18Okay.
- 19:19So it's funny because on the lunch show,
- 19:22someone said,
- 19:23if you're going to Fresh Coast,
- 19:24you have to go to that restaurant right
- 19:27there.
- 19:28The name is The Deck.
- 19:29Yep.
- 19:31And I can't believe that someone actually
- 19:33brought that up and I've actually eaten
- 19:34there.
- 19:35Yeah.
- 19:37It is.
- 19:37It is a great restaurant.
- 19:40Great view.
- 19:41Great view.
- 19:42They always have like live music going
- 19:44when you're there.
- 19:49Lana will miss watching you.
- 19:54And I think Jamie froze.
- 19:56So this is fun.
- 20:01Do we anticipate Masters workouts being
- 20:03released tomorrow?
- 20:04I don't anticipate anything, Avera.
- 20:09I don't know.
- 20:16Um, Carolyn service here sucks.
- 20:19So try to hop on when I'm home.
- 20:21Have a good show.
- 20:22Yeah.
- 20:23To have fun bowling.
- 20:26We know your service is bad because your
- 20:28comment came in and loaded like three
- 20:30times.
- 20:36In a Sean Woodland voice.
- 20:38Is there anything Carolyn can't do?
- 20:43And we lost Jamie.
- 20:45So either her laptop was unplugged or she
- 20:48has lost power at the house.
- 20:55Yeah, Kenneth, Jamie's gone.
- 20:59So while she is trying to log back
- 21:02in,
- 21:04I'm going to pull up the leaderboard of
- 21:08semifinals.
- 21:10And we'll talk about that briefly.
- 21:25So let me pull that up.
- 21:33So there's been little to no movement.
- 21:37more on the no side than anything for
- 21:40semifinals and a lot of the a lot
- 21:47of the um athletes have been announcing
- 21:51that they have made the games so these
- 21:53are supposed to close tomorrow
- 21:56And so it looks as though it is
- 22:00going to be Alexis Raptus, Eric Cofolo,
- 22:05Alex Kazan already qualified, Ariel Lowen,
- 22:08Mathilde Garnes, Janie Chevery,
- 22:12Bear Gross, Bjorn's daughter,
- 22:15and Holly Tynan will be going to the
- 22:17CrossFit Games.
- 22:19They should all become official tomorrow
- 22:22at some point.
- 22:26So I think what I'm going to do
- 22:28is I'm going to text Jamie the link
- 22:34so that she can join on her phone
- 22:36if she chooses to.
- 22:40Should just take me a second.
- 22:49And then I was also told to send
- 22:52the link to Megan Apostolaris,
- 22:54who did the Xenom,
- 22:55and we can talk to her about what
- 22:57that was like.
- 23:20So let me just text Megan while I'm
- 23:25at it.
- 23:48Okay.
- 23:52um john young one xenon pairs i think
- 23:58your um your information is incorrect um
- 24:18forty-niners chica
- 24:20Xenom was fun for this mediocre
- 24:22CrossFitter.
- 24:24Everything I've seen.
- 24:26So let's bring down the leaderboard.
- 24:28We'll talk about that when Jamie comes
- 24:30back.
- 24:31She's rebooting now.
- 24:35And I think Megan's going to hop on
- 24:40now too.
- 24:42And we can talk to her about Xenom.
- 24:44We'll do that.
- 24:50So let me have the leaderboard ready for
- 24:52that.
- 24:59We'll get to the leaderboard.
- 25:00Now I'm all confused.
- 25:01The power outage has killed me.
- 25:04Xenon went ahead and launched their
- 25:06initial weekend this weekend in Dallas.
- 25:11From all accounts I've seen,
- 25:12everybody had a good time.
- 25:15I saw some interviews where people said
- 25:18that they were going to
- 25:24that they were going to try to come
- 25:26back and beat their score.
- 25:29So I think that is a good sign
- 25:32for CrossFit, for Xenon.
- 25:35So I'm going to add Jamie to the
- 25:38stage.
- 25:39I'm going to add Megan to the stage.
- 25:42Hey, Megan.
- 25:44Hello.
- 25:44Can you guys hear me okay?
- 25:45Yep.
- 25:45I hear you great.
- 25:48Is that window annoying behind me?
- 25:49Hold on, let me go this way.
- 25:51I'm going to pull Jamie out.
- 25:53Her stuff is not working.
- 25:54Jamie just lost power.
- 25:55Oh, no.
- 25:56So she just had to reboot and come
- 25:59back on.
- 26:00Cool.
- 26:02But when she's ready, she'll pop back in.
- 26:03Sweet.
- 26:04So congratulations on your first ever
- 26:06Xenon.
- 26:07Thank you.
- 26:08It was everybody's first ever Xenon.
- 26:10I know.
- 26:11How was it?
- 26:12It was super fun.
- 26:14It was hard, but, like, super fun.
- 26:16Yeah.
- 26:18Would you compare,
- 26:20what is the best thing you can compare
- 26:22to?
- 26:23There's really nothing like it right now.
- 26:27So I know people are going to try
- 26:29to compare it to a high rocks and
- 26:31I understand why.
- 26:32Um,
- 26:33I think they're going for like a mass
- 26:35participation event,
- 26:38which CrossFit doesn't really have any of
- 26:40those well until now.
- 26:42Um, and they want, they're,
- 26:43they're going for like really good
- 26:45production value and, uh,
- 26:49and stuff like that.
- 26:50So like, in terms of like,
- 26:52the vibe has a similar vibe to a
- 26:55high rocks, but like,
- 26:57there's nothing else about it.
- 27:00That's like a high rocks because it's all
- 27:01CrossFit events.
- 27:06CrossFit wants to know,
- 27:07will you be better?
- 27:07Well, will you be buying an air rhino?
- 27:11No, but that was a really cool event.
- 27:14Like, it was super hard.
- 27:16And I mean,
- 27:18That's probably why that event was in
- 27:20there,
- 27:21because it's a new piece of equipment from
- 27:23Rogue, and Rogue's one of the partners.
- 27:26I would have rathered a deadlift on a
- 27:28barbell,
- 27:28but there was a ton of barbell in
- 27:30it already,
- 27:30and it was a really cool event.
- 27:33It was cool trying to figure out how
- 27:35to use it.
- 27:36Katie from Rogue was there,
- 27:38and she kind of was showing people how
- 27:40to do it, which was kind of cool.
- 27:43So I don't know.
- 27:44It added a little something different,
- 27:45and I quite enjoyed it.
- 27:47So I noticed on the scoreboard that seemed
- 27:50to be the lowest scored event for
- 27:52everybody.
- 27:53I don't know.
- 27:54I somehow did really good on that event.
- 27:56Like I took second in the elite heat
- 27:58on that event,
- 27:59but I think that was just by luck.
- 28:02And that event was also interesting
- 28:04because so.
- 28:06They did an amazing job all weekend of
- 28:08updating the leaderboard, like,
- 28:10extremely quickly and all of the events
- 28:13are scored against this system called the
- 28:15elite performance index.
- 28:16So, like,
- 28:17based on the points or the reps or
- 28:19the time you get in any workout that
- 28:22determines where you meet against the
- 28:25standard and every event has its own,
- 28:27like, top standard.
- 28:28But, um.
- 28:30The reason why I'm blabbing on about that
- 28:31is because they didn't know what the elite
- 28:34performance index was going to be on the
- 28:36Rhino.
- 28:37Cause like no one knew what people were
- 28:39going to pull.
- 28:40And like,
- 28:40so that event took a long time to
- 28:42update in the leaderboard and everyone was
- 28:44asking why.
- 28:46And they actually said the reason why is
- 28:47because they're,
- 28:48they were legit creating the standard for
- 28:51that event, like in real time.
- 28:53So that was kind of cool to know.
- 28:55That was the reason.
- 28:55And yeah.
- 28:58So I'm going to share the leaderboard
- 29:02because they did do a great job for
- 29:04not being able.
- 29:07And what's cool is I can go to
- 29:09your name and click on it.
- 29:10Yeah.
- 29:11And it has all ten of your scores.
- 29:13Yeah.
- 29:15And like the coolest thing and I'm I
- 29:18hope I'm not like dumbing this down at
- 29:21all because I don't mean to,
- 29:21but I do feel like there's a lot
- 29:22of people out there that don't fully
- 29:24understand like how xenon works.
- 29:27But the coolest thing about xenon,
- 29:29and this is also similar to high rocks,
- 29:32is that every xenon event.
- 29:35will be identical.
- 29:36So when there's London,
- 29:39London Xenon is next.
- 29:41Technically,
- 29:42I could go to that and just try
- 29:43to beat my EPI score so I can
- 29:47look at my events,
- 29:48see what my score was against the standard
- 29:51and then be like, okay,
- 29:52I want to get
- 29:53this many more pet points on the echo
- 29:54bike event or this minute you know and
- 29:56you can the whole goal is to compete
- 29:58against yourself and your score versus
- 30:00trying to beat other people i mean
- 30:02obviously you kind of want to beat other
- 30:03people too but um the events are exactly
- 30:07the same no matter where you go so
- 30:09your goal can always be to just improve
- 30:11your own score
- 30:13Would you,
- 30:15you've been doing CrossFit for a long
- 30:16time,
- 30:17so you may not be the perfect person
- 30:18to ask this,
- 30:19but when you look at these scores,
- 30:22is there a way to tell where your
- 30:25weaknesses are and where you need to work?
- 30:29I would say so.
- 30:30But it's also you'd have to do a
- 30:32little bit of digging down because
- 30:34depending on the workout,
- 30:37like one rep is worth like way more
- 30:39points, depending on how far you go down,
- 30:43like it's kind of hard to explain,
- 30:44but
- 30:44Yeah, I mean,
- 30:45you could definitely look at that and be
- 30:47like, oh, yeah,
- 30:48I didn't do that good in the, like,
- 30:52one rep max snatch event.
- 30:55That was my lowest score.
- 30:56And so you can definitely sort and filter
- 30:58and do all that stuff.
- 30:59So, yeah, for sure.
- 31:03I guess the big question is you've done
- 31:05one now.
- 31:06Yep.
- 31:07Do you want to do another one to
- 31:09beat your score?
- 31:10Yes.
- 31:11I want to do another one for a
- 31:12million reasons, but yeah,
- 31:13obviously to beat my score for sure.
- 31:16I think it could become...
- 31:18um something where like like they're gonna
- 31:21be in cool places like you could use
- 31:23it as an excuse to travel you could
- 31:25use it as like people do that with
- 31:26high rocks all the time like they want
- 31:28to go to do high rocks italy and
- 31:29it's like an excuse to go to italy
- 31:31um i don't think there's going to be
- 31:33as many xenon events as there are high
- 31:35rocks events because high rocks is like an
- 31:37hour but like
- 31:39I definitely want to do another one,
- 31:41and I think it's awesome training for the
- 31:44games.
- 31:46I think it's really cool.
- 31:48It appeals to CrossFit athletes.
- 31:51You couldn't just randomly do a Xenom.
- 31:53There's definitely levels.
- 31:55There's a Compete, which is scaled,
- 31:56then there's RX, and then there's Elite.
- 32:00And so you can definitely be like a
- 32:02newer CrossFitter for sure,
- 32:03but like you have to know what all
- 32:05the movements are and be able to do
- 32:06all the movements to sort of be able
- 32:08to do one,
- 32:10which I think is super cool.
- 32:11Like I think it's got a lot of
- 32:13potential to grow big.
- 32:20As someone who has competed at the Games,
- 32:22competed at so many different levels in
- 32:25CrossFit,
- 32:26did you feel like you could race?
- 32:31Did I feel like I could push hard
- 32:33for the whole day?
- 32:34But know who was beside you.
- 32:37Could you race...
- 32:39yeah yeah like there was definitely so in
- 32:42the elite women's there was two like there
- 32:45was abigail domit and um emily rolf who
- 32:49were like at the top and then there
- 32:51was like a bunch of us who were
- 32:53like sort of like all in the mix
- 32:55um for the whole sort of weekend and
- 32:58so you kind of got to see who
- 33:00was there and who you wanted to beat
- 33:03on certain events to try to like gain
- 33:05points on them um
- 33:08I think the goal for Xenom is obviously
- 33:11to grow the event so it's quite large.
- 33:14This was the first one,
- 33:16so the elite women's heat only had ten
- 33:18people in it.
- 33:20The elite men's heat had quite a bit
- 33:21more.
- 33:24the rx men's also had a lot but
- 33:26the elite women's only had ten in it
- 33:28for whatever reason but yeah you
- 33:29definitely wanted to race and you
- 33:31definitely wanted to beat people and there
- 33:32was for sure certain people who like i
- 33:34wanted to be on certain events because it
- 33:36knew i knew it would put me above
- 33:37them in points so there is an element
- 33:40of you're competing against yourself at
- 33:43multiple different xenons ideally and then
- 33:45you're still wanting to beat other people
- 33:47for sure
- 33:49So the owner before it launched said they
- 33:51wanted to give athletes a special
- 33:54experience.
- 33:55Did you feel special?
- 33:57Yeah, for sure.
- 33:58You got a really cool,
- 33:59at the end when you finished all the
- 34:02events, you got this really nice bracelet.
- 34:04I don't have it with me,
- 34:04but it's like a nice piece of jewelry.
- 34:07All weekend and leading up,
- 34:09like the communication in terms of them
- 34:12sending out emails with all the
- 34:14information,
- 34:14like directly tailored to you,
- 34:17like it was all like, Megan,
- 34:18here's your heat times,
- 34:19like here's your scores,
- 34:21like everything was very tailored to you.
- 34:24um the check-in was good it was a
- 34:26newer event so there was like a couple
- 34:27little wrinkles that have to be ironed out
- 34:29like in terms of check-in just a bit
- 34:31of a long line and whatever but after
- 34:33having gone through the whole weekend you
- 34:35kind of like you're very accepting of
- 34:38those things just because like it was a
- 34:40brand new event and like to me like
- 34:42they crushed it we have a couple comments
- 34:45in the question in the chat uh does
- 34:49it cater more to a spectator experience or
- 34:51a participant experience
- 34:53I think it could be both.
- 34:55I think CrossFit tends to... Like,
- 34:59the people who want to watch CrossFit,
- 35:01I think, are, like,
- 35:02usually other CrossFitters.
- 35:04So, I mean,
- 35:05I would say it's the same vibe where,
- 35:08like,
- 35:08people who would probably come to watch a
- 35:10Xenom are going to be people who do
- 35:12CrossFit.
- 35:14But it is cool.
- 35:15There's, like, multiple arenas,
- 35:16they call them.
- 35:17Multiple competition floors, really,
- 35:19going at the same time.
- 35:20And...
- 35:21they all are like kind of separate but
- 35:25spectators can go anywhere in and around
- 35:27them so it's very accessible to people to
- 35:30watch and like up close and personal like
- 35:32right down on the floor one of the
- 35:34events had a three k run in it
- 35:36and it was all done inside like lapsed
- 35:38and so people could be like right there
- 35:41yelling and so like it's good it was
- 35:44good it's like watching the games but
- 35:46multiple things happening all around you
- 35:48at the same time and like way more
- 35:50events per day
- 35:53Uh,
- 35:53could you go a hundred percent on all
- 35:54events or did you have to save yourself
- 35:57for day two?
- 35:58Um, I don't think that anyone who's,
- 36:03I can only speak for myself,
- 36:05but what I would say is like,
- 36:06I don't think anyone who is a competitive
- 36:08person, like consciously says, Oh,
- 36:11I'm going to hold back here and try
- 36:12to save myself for day two.
- 36:14I think everyone, once you're out there,
- 36:16you're kind of going a hundred percent.
- 36:18Uh, that said,
- 36:19like some of the events were quite short,
- 36:21like, uh,
- 36:22you know one of them was a one
- 36:23minute max echo bite calorie not that that
- 36:27was an easy event at all but it's
- 36:29one minute and then one of them was
- 36:31like a max snatch event so like although
- 36:34like they're all really good tests some of
- 36:35them are like less strenuous than others
- 36:38so i think they did a really good
- 36:40job of like planning them so that you're
- 36:43never doing two really long events back to
- 36:45back um by the end of day two
- 36:47like
- 36:48you know, you're a little tired,
- 36:49but my last event was a twelve minute
- 36:52workout of like rounds of movements and I
- 36:55felt like I was still able to push
- 36:57pretty hard.
- 36:58It's definitely different than
- 37:01Like I've been to the Games Masters a
- 37:03few times and there's like, you know,
- 37:04two or three events a day.
- 37:07And I find in that case,
- 37:09you're like warming up and cooling down a
- 37:13few times in the day where I found,
- 37:15especially day two for Xenom,
- 37:16you kind of are staying warmed up like
- 37:19the whole day.
- 37:20There's not a lot of time to really
- 37:22like leave the venue, go get food,
- 37:24come back.
- 37:24You're sort of kind of there,
- 37:27which is good.
- 37:28I like that a little better.
- 37:30It's like almost less stressful because
- 37:32you're just like in it.
- 37:34So in that sense,
- 37:35it's a little bit different.
- 37:38But yeah,
- 37:38like it's a lot of volume over two
- 37:40days for sure.
- 37:43I know that there have been complaints
- 37:44about, especially with Masters athletes,
- 37:48only getting seven events at the CrossFit
- 37:50Games.
- 37:51You got ten events in two days.
- 37:54Did you prefer that to what's been
- 37:56happening at the Masters Games?
- 38:01I mean, I don't really think...
- 38:06No,
- 38:07I wouldn't say I wouldn't say yes or
- 38:09no.
- 38:09Like I like both.
- 38:10The Masters games is I think I think
- 38:13seven events is not horrible.
- 38:16I mean, I might like more,
- 38:18but I like a lot of volume,
- 38:20so I don't know.
- 38:20I don't have a huge problem with the
- 38:23number of events at the Masters games.
- 38:25That wouldn't be where my complaints would
- 38:28lie on that topic.
- 38:31The but I also really liked.
- 38:34having like the amount of work at Xenon,
- 38:38which is like compressed into two days,
- 38:40like ten events for sure,
- 38:42but some of them are very short and
- 38:44it didn't really feel like a full event.
- 38:46So it's like almost similar amount of
- 38:47work,
- 38:48but in Xenon was like two days where
- 38:51Masters games is like three or sometimes
- 38:53four.
- 38:57Bootycat asks,
- 38:58is it too much volume for normies?
- 39:01no i don't think i think anyone who
- 39:03does crossfit could come to a xenon and
- 39:06have a wicked time and i saw like
- 39:09like i said there's like three categories
- 39:11compete is like a scaled then there's rx
- 39:14and then there's elite and in the compete
- 39:18and in the rx there was many ranges
- 39:21of ages skill levels like it was super
- 39:25cool uh any swag other than the bracelet
- 39:30Um, there was a swag bag.
- 39:32You had a shirt, um,
- 39:34some other things in there.
- 39:36You get like a cool name plate.
- 39:39Um,
- 39:39there's also photo packages that you can
- 39:40add on.
- 39:41Um, there wasn't like a lot of like,
- 39:43you know, expensive swag,
- 39:45but the things that you got were very
- 39:47personalized.
- 39:48Um, I thought it was good.
- 39:52I got a couple more questions.
- 39:53I'm going to try to pull Jamie on
- 39:54to see if she has any questions for
- 39:56you.
- 39:57Sure.
- 40:02I was listening.
- 40:04No,
- 40:04you seemed like you asked all the things
- 40:08that I was curious about,
- 40:10like was the volume too much,
- 40:12all that kind of stuff.
- 40:12So, I mean,
- 40:13I think you kind of nailed it on
- 40:14the head, Scott.
- 40:16The only thing I would say that I
- 40:17haven't said already is like,
- 40:20they don't divide any,
- 40:21you can filter and see like where you
- 40:23would fit in,
- 40:24in terms of your age group.
- 40:25Like if you were a masters athlete,
- 40:27but you know,
- 40:28if you want to go in the elite
- 40:30heat, which is what I wanted to do,
- 40:33they don't elite doesn't care about your
- 40:35age.
- 40:35And like, I'm cool with that.
- 40:36Like elite is elite.
- 40:38And so your score is just like measured
- 40:40against the standard.
- 40:43So,
- 40:43but you can like kind of filter and
- 40:45see what other people are there who all
- 40:47were like was in your age group there.
- 40:50But in terms of like a master's,
- 40:52they don't have like categories
- 40:54specifically for master's.
- 40:56So I was seeing more of the master's
- 40:58athletes in the RX category.
- 41:00um category versus the elite category
- 41:02there was definitely like in the women's
- 41:04in my heat i think there was two
- 41:06women at least one but i think two
- 41:08that were thirty five to thirty nine but
- 41:10there was no one older
- 41:12Well,
- 41:12Jamie loves competing against elites.
- 41:15She's been wanting to do that forever.
- 41:17Yeah, you would love it, Jamie.
- 41:19I like it, too.
- 41:19Like,
- 41:20I still feel like I can roll with
- 41:22the young ones.
- 41:23And, like, for me, that's, like,
- 41:25a motivator.
- 41:27And you kind of just, like,
- 41:29quietly just do your thing throughout the
- 41:31competition.
- 41:31And then, all of a sudden, you're,
- 41:33you know,
- 41:33middle of the pack in a heat full
- 41:35of really young girls.
- 41:37And it kind of is motivating, so...
- 41:38yeah i would if you ever get the
- 41:40chance to do one like definitely do it
- 41:42and definitely go elite for sure um did
- 41:45you see many athlete withdrawals i don't
- 41:49know like like no one in my heat
- 41:52withdrew i don't know like in terms of
- 41:54number of people who registered or who
- 41:56didn't come i don't know i couldn't answer
- 41:58that
- 42:00I think they're asking more for the volume
- 42:02of the weekend.
- 42:02Oh, I didn't hear of any medical issues.
- 42:07There was tons of medical staff there.
- 42:10The judging was all really good.
- 42:12I didn't see any injuries or withdrawals
- 42:16personally, but I've got no idea.
- 42:18I think I saw Josh Hicks post a
- 42:20thing that said it was like days without
- 42:23incident with the medical team and they,
- 42:26and they made it like through the whole
- 42:27weekend without an incident.
- 42:28Yeah.
- 42:29So I think that's, that's pretty cool.
- 42:32Yeah.
- 42:32It was cool.
- 42:33Like, like I said, like,
- 42:35This is the first event that they're
- 42:38running, and it was big.
- 42:41I think they had over five hundred
- 42:43athletes competing,
- 42:44which is a lot of athletes,
- 42:46and it seemed like it was really,
- 42:49really good.
- 42:50The organizer is Wilson.
- 42:52One of them is Wilson Pack,
- 42:53and I chatted with him a few times
- 42:55throughout,
- 42:56and he said there was things behind the
- 42:58scenes that like,
- 42:59Small things that were happening,
- 43:01but from an athletes perspective,
- 43:02it was just going along.
- 43:03I think one time like one of the
- 43:05screens went out and they just quickly
- 43:07fixed it.
- 43:07But like everything ran super smooth on
- 43:10time,
- 43:11like the leaderboard was like so quick to
- 43:13be updated.
- 43:14The judging was great.
- 43:17Yeah,
- 43:17like I I don't have any like they're
- 43:19gonna send out a survey and there's like
- 43:20little things that I'll put but like
- 43:22nothing, you know, major and you know,
- 43:25I'm sometimes hard to please.
- 43:28And so it Yeah,
- 43:30like it was really good.
- 43:31It was a blast.
- 43:33So I'm going to two more questions and
- 43:34we'll let you go, Megan.
- 43:36So we have,
- 43:38was there any adequate areas to rest and
- 43:40recover or did you have to leave and
- 43:41come back for each event?
- 43:43I think she already answered that she
- 43:44didn't leave.
- 43:45No, there was actually a huge,
- 43:47a huge athlete area.
- 43:51where it was at this particular venue
- 43:53which was the the Ford which is like
- 43:55the Dallas Cowboys practice stadium and um
- 43:58it was beautiful facility but in this
- 44:00particular facility when you would come in
- 44:02through the door athletes were allowed to
- 44:04like have all their bags and stuff um
- 44:06and then they could leave all their stuff
- 44:08on one whole side of the stadium so
- 44:09like all the bleachers on one whole side
- 44:11of the stadium was like athlete area to
- 44:13just chill they had microwaves over there
- 44:15so you could heat your own food up
- 44:16and whatever
- 44:17And then the warmup area was all like
- 44:19down on the, like the, the, you know,
- 44:21whatever the turf, like the field level.
- 44:24Um,
- 44:25the one thing that I would say that
- 44:28I didn't love, um,
- 44:30and I'm curious to see if other athletes
- 44:32had the same comments was like,
- 44:34they didn't allow coaches in there, uh,
- 44:37at all.
- 44:38So like,
- 44:38if you wanted to interact with your coach,
- 44:40it had to be like, there,
- 44:41they were basically just like a spectator.
- 44:42There was no coach like pass.
- 44:45Um,
- 44:46So that took, for me,
- 44:48that took a little bit of getting used
- 44:49to because I have someone who comes and,
- 44:51like, helps me warm up, usually.
- 44:54So you're kind of on your own in
- 44:55there unless, like,
- 44:56your coach happened to also be competing.
- 44:59So I didn't, like, super love that.
- 45:02So that would be a piece of feedback
- 45:03I will provide when I do my survey.
- 45:06But, yeah,
- 45:06you definitely didn't have to leave and
- 45:07come back.
- 45:08There was tons of athlete recovery area,
- 45:11and I think that was something they really
- 45:12wanted to do.
- 45:13Yeah.
- 45:14Okay, last question from the chat.
- 45:17Was there a decent number of vendors for
- 45:19spectators?
- 45:21vendor area was a little thin um hopefully
- 45:25the more the events run i think more
- 45:27will come but there wasn't a lot of
- 45:29vendors around they had a xenon like
- 45:31selling xenon merch and then there was
- 45:33like maybe three or four other ones um
- 45:36that were selling stuff but yeah the
- 45:37vendor area was not as it could be
- 45:41for sure yeah that's not really important
- 45:44for me so something i didn't really think
- 45:46of but yeah there weren't a lot of
- 45:47vendors there and i did hear uh
- 45:51Peter from coffee pods and Watts.
- 45:53He talked to the owner and he said
- 45:55it was a really hard sell without getting
- 45:57to show them anything.
- 45:58Yeah.
- 45:59Now that they have something to show.
- 46:00Yeah.
- 46:01Uh,
- 46:01they can push a little bit more towards
- 46:03some vendors.
- 46:04Yeah.
- 46:05Um, the floor looked amazing.
- 46:07It was cool.
- 46:09and they did a drone shot around the
- 46:12stadium.
- 46:12They looked amazing.
- 46:14In person, it looked just as good.
- 46:16Yeah, it was.
- 46:17In person, it looked just as cool,
- 46:19and they were kind of mysterious about it.
- 46:21So on athlete check-in,
- 46:23which was the Friday,
- 46:24we started competing on Saturday,
- 46:26you would go into the front doors of
- 46:27the stadium,
- 46:29like, the lobby kind of area.
- 46:31But they had, like,
- 46:31the windows into the competition floor,
- 46:34like, so you couldn't see.
- 46:35So, like, I still couldn't see it, which,
- 46:38like, I was, like,
- 46:39trying to sneak in and, like, get, like,
- 46:40a view of it.
- 46:42I think some people did.
- 46:43But anyway,
- 46:43and then the next day when we, like,
- 46:45came ready for competition,
- 46:47you got to see it for the first
- 46:48time.
- 46:49And it was, like,
- 46:49definitely very impressive.
- 46:51Like, in terms of the visual aspect,
- 46:56it is more impressive than the games like
- 47:00they they had led screens for every arena
- 47:03with huge clocks on them like it looked
- 47:06awesome everything was blue um there was
- 47:09like cool carpeting around that was blue
- 47:11it was really neat and the way that
- 47:12they ran the events was on this like
- 47:15giant clock so it was cool like say
- 47:16you're doing event one and the event was
- 47:18like you know a five minute
- 47:21event and then between heats there's like
- 47:23a two minute window let's just say it'd
- 47:26be like big green numbers for the for
- 47:28the like when you're going and then as
- 47:30soon as the event was over it was
- 47:31like the numbers turned red it was two
- 47:34minutes then the next heat would come in
- 47:36like it was all like very flowy and
- 47:38and good um so it kept everything like
- 47:40just like perfectly on the clock but yeah
- 47:42visually it looked pretty spectacular the
- 47:45rig was huge yeah it was cool
- 47:47some of the footage i saw the big
- 47:50um tv screens with the clocks on them
- 47:53yeah were they need to go to those
- 47:55at every event yeah like they it's so
- 47:58hard to find the clock at the crossfit
- 47:59games yeah it was cool and they were
- 48:01all leds like they were nice probably
- 48:03really expensive like i think there's a
- 48:05lot of money behind the event um and
- 48:09yeah it was it showed for sure
- 48:13So here's my last question.
- 48:14In three weeks,
- 48:15the two of you are going to become
- 48:16competitors.
- 48:18Is there any trash talking that you two
- 48:19want to do before you go on the
- 48:23floor?
- 48:25No.
- 48:27I don't know.
- 48:28I get so stressed out at the games.
- 48:30When I go to the games,
- 48:32I feel just like...
- 48:34I don't know.
- 48:34No, there's definitely no trash talking.
- 48:36I get nervous.
- 48:37Jamie's a beast.
- 48:38She'll beat me on everything.
- 48:40And yeah.
- 48:41Are you getting coached by Taylor at the
- 48:42event?
- 48:44I need to message him and see what
- 48:46the plan is.
- 48:47Yeah.
- 48:47Because I don't know if their focus is
- 48:50media or what.
- 48:52I think they're planning to go.
- 48:53I think they have a few athletes.
- 48:54I'm hoping they are because I want them
- 48:56there.
- 48:56Well, they're going to be there.
- 48:57I mean,
- 48:57I've heard them say they're going to be
- 48:59there on like Sunday, I think.
- 49:01But like...
- 49:04I mean, he's, you know, I don't know.
- 49:05When he's on with Sivan,
- 49:06it seems like they're, like,
- 49:08talking about trying to, like,
- 49:09set up a workout that they'll do out
- 49:11of the hopper.
- 49:12And, like, so, like, well,
- 49:13if you're trying to do media stuff and
- 49:14you're trying to, like,
- 49:15it won't be at the Masters games, maybe.
- 49:19I mean, I don't know.
- 49:20There is, like, six of us, so.
- 49:22Yeah.
- 49:23I hope they come.
- 49:24I'm, like, banking on it.
- 49:26I know.
- 49:28I'll need them there.
- 49:30Yeah, for sure.
- 49:30They're great.
- 49:31But, yeah, no,
- 49:32I don't want to trash talk anybody.
- 49:34I can't.
- 49:35I'm too insecure.
- 49:37Tessa asks if Taylor coaches Jamie.
- 49:39He actually coaches both.
- 49:40They're both Sentinel athletes.
- 49:44Yeah.
- 49:44So not only are they in the same
- 49:45age group, at the same CrossFit Games,
- 49:48with the same Sentinel training.
- 49:50Yeah, it was fun last year.
- 49:52I loved that.
- 49:53Yeah,
- 49:54there was like me and Jamie and Julia
- 49:57and who else was there?
- 49:59Jessica.
- 50:00Yeah,
- 50:00and like we were all in the same,
- 50:01I don't know,
- 50:02it just felt like we were competing
- 50:04against each other,
- 50:05but like we were also just like hanging
- 50:07out.
- 50:07It was cool.
- 50:10Well, Megan,
- 50:10thank you so much for taking some time
- 50:12out of your Sunday night.
- 50:13My pleasure.
- 50:14It was awesome.
- 50:14Really enjoyed getting a firsthand look at
- 50:18or an account of what happened at Xenon.
- 50:21We're all excited to see how it's going
- 50:22to be and if it's going to survive.
- 50:25But by all accounts,
- 50:26it sounds like it went off pretty well
- 50:29without a hitch.
- 50:31Yeah, I think so.
- 50:32From my perspective, it totally did.
- 50:34Hopefully everyone else had the same feels
- 50:35and like it can be a really huge
- 50:38event and just like keep the ball rolling.
- 50:41Yeah.
- 50:42Well, thank you.
- 50:43No problem.
- 50:43Have a great rest of your night and
- 50:44safe travels home.
- 50:45Thank you.
- 50:46Bye, guys.
- 50:46Bye.
- 50:47See you soon.
- 50:52Megan Apostolaris, CrossFit Games athlete,
- 50:55Xenon participant.
- 50:59Thank you so much for your time.
- 51:00That was awesome.
- 51:01Yeah,
- 51:01I didn't really know she was doing that.
- 51:02That's awesome.
- 51:03I'm glad she got that experience.
- 51:06I like the fact that she went up
- 51:08against the other elite athletes.
- 51:11That's what I had registered as when I
- 51:14was trying to get the free invite or
- 51:17whatever that Caroline got.
- 51:18That's what I had signed up as.
- 51:20Yeah.
- 51:22Because I know you do have that desire
- 51:25to see how you would, in some events,
- 51:28see how you would...
- 51:30I hate the snatch event, though.
- 51:32Like,
- 51:32it wouldn't even matter if I was
- 51:33competing.
- 51:34I honestly probably would do just as bad
- 51:36in the regular, like, the RX category.
- 51:39Because sometimes there's just stronger
- 51:41people in those categories.
- 51:43They don't have the skills.
- 51:45Yeah, but I look at, like,
- 51:46Emily Rolfe's score,
- 51:47and she didn't do well on the snatch,
- 51:49and she almost won.
- 51:53And Abby won the snatch,
- 51:55and with a very high score.
- 51:59So...
- 52:02I'll pull up the leaderboard so we can
- 52:04just wrap this up a little bit.
- 52:05Did she say how many people were in
- 52:07a heat?
- 52:08Well, there was only ten elite women.
- 52:11Oh, really?
- 52:12Yeah.
- 52:13So let me go back here.
- 52:17Okay.
- 52:17So here's the final leaderboard.
- 52:21And you can see there's Abby Doman at
- 52:23one, Emily Rolfe two, Samantha Pugh three,
- 52:27Megan took fifth.
- 52:28Nice.
- 52:30And then there's only ten athletes.
- 52:34That's crazy.
- 52:34How many elite men did it?
- 52:38Sixteen or seventeen.
- 52:39Okay.
- 52:41We'll go to that next.
- 52:48Farlow won.
- 52:48William Leahy second.
- 52:50Raleigh Martin third.
- 52:53Got people like Mike Needleman.
- 52:54Wow.
- 53:00Wow.
- 53:00Oh, wow, there's way more of that.
- 53:02Yeah.
- 53:04But E.J.
- 53:04Hine may have been... Well,
- 53:06here's a couple that didn't finish.
- 53:08Dan Bailey.
- 53:08Oh, wait.
- 53:09Oh, Dan Bailey pulled out.
- 53:11Three people did not finish.
- 53:12Hmm.
- 53:15So there's the answer to Jeremy's
- 53:18question.
- 53:19Yeah.
- 53:22And someone didn't start but finished.
- 53:24What happened there?
- 53:25A couple of them just didn't do the
- 53:26snatch at all.
- 53:27Oh, that would be me.
- 53:30but they were given a final score maybe
- 53:34they just went out there and missed both
- 53:35lifts you'd think it would say zero though
- 53:37but that's that's weird yeah could be or
- 53:42they got stuck in traffic yeah i'm curious
- 53:45how big the floor is like how many
- 53:46people like if if there's twenty lanes or
- 53:50what it is exactly and how it gets
- 53:52seated and since
- 53:55I mean, it's only two days,
- 53:55so do they reseed it after the first
- 53:58day?
- 53:58And then that's it?
- 54:01Yeah,
- 54:01it looked like the areas looked big enough
- 54:04to hold more than ten.
- 54:06Yeah.
- 54:07Like twenty at a time, probably?
- 54:08Yeah, that's what I would guess, twenty.
- 54:13And then when we look at the pairs,
- 54:15what I found interesting is the women's
- 54:18and men's pairs are both on the same
- 54:20leaderboard.
- 54:21Oh, wow.
- 54:21Unless you break it down from there.
- 54:25That's interesting.
- 54:27But because the...
- 54:29How do you do that with a snatch?
- 54:31Well,
- 54:33it's whatever level you get as a woman
- 54:35is still based on the thousand points.
- 54:39thing so it's gonna it may be a
- 54:42three hundred and thirty pound snatch for
- 54:44a man but it may be a two
- 54:47thirty snatch for a woman and it's still
- 54:50be seven right because at the end of
- 54:53the day Kyra and Olivia beat Colton and
- 54:55Chris oh boy yeah well that's kind of
- 55:00neat yeah Jacob Marlowe and Travis
- 55:03Williams that are in third Jake Douglas
- 55:06Adam Clink and fourth
- 55:09Georgia Pryor and Maisie Wilde in fifth.
- 55:14So some pretty decent teams.
- 55:15Yep.
- 55:17But you can see there's the – now
- 55:20these two teams almost hit ten thousand
- 55:22points.
- 55:23They were in the nine thousands.
- 55:24Wow.
- 55:28And that's what – the one thing I
- 55:30would say about this,
- 55:31I think Abby won with eight thousand-ish,
- 55:35is that –
- 55:39Abby's a great athlete and she's a
- 55:41multiple time games participant.
- 55:44She hasn't yet to finish top ten.
- 55:49Right?
- 55:49Emma Rolfe has finished top ten.
- 55:51Yep.
- 55:53But other than that,
- 55:55you're looking at women who have never
- 55:56been to the games.
- 55:57Right.
- 55:59So I'd be anxious to see what the
- 56:04tip of the spear would do on this.
- 56:07Yeah,
- 56:07you want to see what James Sprague can
- 56:08finish and you want to see what, like,
- 56:11well, shoot,
- 56:11is Tia the only one who could get
- 56:13the thousand points or whatever it is?
- 56:16I think,
- 56:16I don't think a thousand is necessarily
- 56:20the goal on every event.
- 56:23I think they want to leave room for
- 56:25improvement because they don't want to
- 56:26change this for twenty years.
- 56:28Right.
- 56:31And they said initially,
- 56:33this wasn't really for the tip of the
- 56:35spear.
- 56:36This is like a fantasy camp for those
- 56:39that might have been just under the line.
- 56:41Now,
- 56:42I heard Colton say they were using this
- 56:44as games prep.
- 56:47It was a way to get intensity into
- 56:48their workouts three weeks before the
- 56:51games.
- 56:52They worked out and did full day of
- 56:56programming on Friday.
- 56:58at a gym in Houston,
- 57:01then went Saturday and Sunday.
- 57:03Yeah.
- 57:04That's smart.
- 57:05That makes sense.
- 57:07So when I heard that, I was like,
- 57:09that makes a ton of sense for a
- 57:11games athlete.
- 57:13Yeah.
- 57:13Especially pairs.
- 57:15Yes.
- 57:18Yeah.
- 57:19It can be really hard to simulate that,
- 57:22that little bit of intensity on the floor
- 57:24and,
- 57:25And yeah,
- 57:26they'll simulate like you just can't quite
- 57:28do that.
- 57:28Maybe in the camps they can a little
- 57:30better.
- 57:32But I think I do think this is
- 57:33kind of great,
- 57:35a great training atmosphere.
- 57:38Yeah.
- 57:39Yeah.
- 57:40And I think the most encouraging thing I
- 57:44heard from all the stuff I watched was
- 57:48people say,
- 57:49I really want to come back and beat
- 57:50my score.
- 57:53And if people are saying that,
- 57:55you got something.
- 58:04Yeah.
- 58:04Now, and Megan said glowing things,
- 58:06but are there people leaving going, well,
- 58:09damn, that was, that sucked.
- 58:11And they just didn't put them on camera?
- 58:14True.
- 58:15And I'm sure we're going to,
- 58:16if there are those people,
- 58:18we'll hear about that in the coming week.
- 58:20But what, like, I'd be curious,
- 58:22what would they say sucked?
- 58:25The workout?
- 58:26Like, they just weren't, like, I mean,
- 58:28really, what could,
- 58:31if it's a well-run comp,
- 58:33and you know what you signed, like,
- 58:34you know the workouts you signed up for,
- 58:36I don't know what you could really bash.
- 58:40If assuming things like it runs on time,
- 58:43there's a proper warmup area,
- 58:45there's enough equipment.
- 58:46Like if all four hundred people hang out
- 58:48in the warmup area,
- 58:49randomly warming up all day.
- 58:52Sure, that could be a mess,
- 58:53but it doesn't sound like that was an
- 58:54issue.
- 58:55It doesn't sound like this one was full.
- 58:57So.
- 58:59I mean,
- 58:59if you do get what are they're trying
- 59:01to have a thousand athletes participate in
- 59:03these things.
- 59:04So eventually, two thousand.
- 59:08So and they what they told Peter is
- 59:12they're starting with five hundred London.
- 59:14They want a thousand.
- 59:17The next one, they want fifteen hundred,
- 59:20which I think is Miami.
- 59:21OK.
- 59:23And then the next one, two thousand.
- 59:27But we want to build it up slow.
- 59:30And supposedly they're in it for the long
- 59:32haul.
- 59:34Um,
- 59:34they have a ton of money and the
- 59:38floor looked expensive.
- 59:40One can only assume they have a ton
- 59:42of money,
- 59:42but in my conversation with Wilson,
- 59:44like they own all that.
- 59:46That's awesome.
- 59:48And so they pack that up.
- 59:49He,
- 59:50he's storing it just North of me here,
- 59:53uh, in a warehouse.
- 59:54He already told me that they got one
- 59:56there and, uh, they own it all.
- 1:00:00So once you make that initial purpose
- 1:00:02purchase, uh,
- 1:00:04Maybe you'll have to replace a LED screen
- 1:00:07every once in a while.
- 1:00:08That is going to be incredibly expensive
- 1:00:13to ship to London.
- 1:00:15So he has two warehouses.
- 1:00:17Okay.
- 1:00:18All right.
- 1:00:18They're going to buy a set of equipment
- 1:00:19in the States.
- 1:00:20Okay.
- 1:00:21And they're going to buy a set of
- 1:00:22equipment overseas.
- 1:00:23That makes sense because logistically that
- 1:00:26does not see how that works.
- 1:00:29When is London supposed to be?
- 1:00:33Why'd you have to ask me that?
- 1:00:34Like, are they every three months?
- 1:00:34Are they trying to do four a year
- 1:00:35on the quarter or what?
- 1:00:36Like what's the plan?
- 1:00:36Um, London is August, August, August,
- 1:00:37August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:38August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:38August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:39August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:40August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:41August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:41August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:42August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:43August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:46August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:48August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:50August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:52August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:53August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:54August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:55August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:56August, August, August, August, August,
- 1:00:57August, August, August,
- 1:00:57August
- 1:00:59Couple months.
- 1:01:00Two months.
- 1:01:00So two months.
- 1:01:01So you're going to try to do six
- 1:01:02a year?
- 1:01:05I don't think they're going to try to
- 1:01:06do a ton this year.
- 1:01:09I think it's going to be three or
- 1:01:10four.
- 1:01:11Well,
- 1:01:11four is a lot when you're halfway through
- 1:01:13the year.
- 1:01:16Yeah.
- 1:01:17How many high rocks has happened in a
- 1:01:19year?
- 1:01:21I don't know.
- 1:01:21Ten, twelve?
- 1:01:24Seems like thirty to me, but okay.
- 1:01:28Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:01:30I mean,
- 1:01:30I feel like there's like four or five
- 1:01:32overseas and five or six here.
- 1:01:34I don't know.
- 1:01:35It seems like there's only like twelve,
- 1:01:37maybe every month.
- 1:01:38I feel like they're like every month.
- 1:01:40There's a high rocks.
- 1:01:43So if you did every other month and
- 1:01:44you did six here.
- 1:01:48Yeah.
- 1:01:53Is that a similar date to WFP two?
- 1:01:55I know WFP two is at the end
- 1:01:56of August.
- 1:02:00I don't know.
- 1:02:02But again,
- 1:02:02I don't think Xenom is trying to get
- 1:02:04the elite athlete.
- 1:02:05True.
- 1:02:05That's not their main goal.
- 1:02:07And from what I hear,
- 1:02:09elite athletes can only get in by invite
- 1:02:11only.
- 1:02:12Oh, really?
- 1:02:13Yeah,
- 1:02:14that's another thing Peter said from
- 1:02:17talking to them.
- 1:02:19The elite division will be small.
- 1:02:20Okay.
- 1:02:23The RX Compete are like securing your
- 1:02:25ticket, getting those.
- 1:02:26I see.
- 1:02:30so so anyway there it is fun i'm
- 1:02:37excited for them i'm excited to see it
- 1:02:39i mean i'm excited for them to get
- 1:02:41us a live stream of it because it
- 1:02:44would be fun to follow along yeah he
- 1:02:49also said with that is they wanted to
- 1:02:53get everything ironed out before they put
- 1:02:54up a broadcast and they want the broadcast
- 1:02:56to make sense for people who watch
- 1:02:59And until you understand it,
- 1:03:01until you know the flow,
- 1:03:04and until they can get rep counters on
- 1:03:06the screen and all of that stuff,
- 1:03:08they don't want to put out a subpar
- 1:03:10broadcast.
- 1:03:11Makes perfect sense.
- 1:03:13So, and when I heard that,
- 1:03:14I was like, apparently,
- 1:03:16at least they're thinking through these
- 1:03:18things.
- 1:03:20So...
- 1:03:28was one other thing i wanted to mention
- 1:03:30and now i can't even oh i wanted
- 1:03:35to thank um at mishi meech for in
- 1:03:42good luck ladies um that is another again
- 1:03:46if you missed the top of the show
- 1:03:48any super chats
- 1:03:50donated this week from today through next
- 1:03:53Sunday night show,
- 1:03:55that money will go to Jamie and Carolyn
- 1:03:57to help them make their way to the
- 1:03:59CrossFit Games.
- 1:04:02Thank you.
- 1:04:04Michi Mich.
- 1:04:06Gotta be a Michelle, right?
- 1:04:10The picture would say so.
- 1:04:12I'm wondering if it's Michelle from
- 1:04:14Michigan.
- 1:04:14Yeah, that would be cool.
- 1:04:18So, anyway.
- 1:04:23They apparently let people broadcast from
- 1:04:24their phones, which is cool.
- 1:04:25At least we could see bits and pieces.
- 1:04:27Yeah,
- 1:04:27but just like any big sporting event where
- 1:04:30there's a lot of people with a lot
- 1:04:31of cell phones,
- 1:04:33everything starts to depixelize.
- 1:04:39Everybody's just talking about all your
- 1:04:40muscle groups.
- 1:04:43Oh, well, yeah, this is different.
- 1:04:44Triceps, delts.
- 1:04:46Jamie's delts are too big for her skin.
- 1:04:47They're not.
- 1:04:51My delts aren't even that big.
- 1:04:54Like I said,
- 1:04:54I did like a hundred and eighty push-ups
- 1:04:57yesterday or something stupid.
- 1:05:02Yeah, this is a different angle.
- 1:05:03Why?
- 1:05:04I don't know.
- 1:05:04It was a push-up workout.
- 1:05:06Dang.
- 1:05:08Okay.
- 1:05:11So there's that.
- 1:05:12When you lost power,
- 1:05:13we were talking about the games,
- 1:05:14leaderboard.
- 1:05:16Oh, yeah.
- 1:05:17Pretty much final.
- 1:05:19Yeah.
- 1:05:19And people are announcing it.
- 1:05:21Right.
- 1:05:22And, um, but,
- 1:05:24and there's been no movement.
- 1:05:25So again,
- 1:05:26the women are wrapped as follow Gazan
- 1:05:29already qualified Lohan, Garnas,
- 1:05:32Chevrie and Bjorn's daughter and Tynan.
- 1:05:37Dang, Carolyn Stanley.
- 1:05:40I know.
- 1:05:40And it ended up only being five points.
- 1:05:42Yeah.
- 1:05:44Is Pat still one point out or one
- 1:05:47point like in?
- 1:05:48In, last I checked.
- 1:05:49By one point.
- 1:05:50So he'd be like the only one that
- 1:05:53probably wouldn't post that he's in until
- 1:05:57he... He said on Girls Unfiltered,
- 1:05:59with it being one point,
- 1:06:00he's not posting anything until he gets
- 1:06:01the letter.
- 1:06:02Yeah.
- 1:06:04On the men's side, we have Guy,
- 1:06:06Quinn Robinson, Nick Matthew,
- 1:06:08Justin Medeiros, Spencer Pancheck.
- 1:06:10How about four Panchecks going to the
- 1:06:12CrossFit Games?
- 1:06:13Crazy.
- 1:06:15That's insane.
- 1:06:16Colton Mertens and Patrick Vellner.
- 1:06:18Again,
- 1:06:19you see Patrick Vellner with sixty-two.
- 1:06:21Ari Lightfoot with sixty-three.
- 1:06:25Closes tomorrow.
- 1:06:29With that one point,
- 1:06:31any toggle of a point
- 1:06:34Just messes it all up.
- 1:06:36But I think Pat said on Girls Unfiltered,
- 1:06:39he even holds the tiebreakers on Harry at
- 1:06:41this point.
- 1:06:41That's true.
- 1:06:43So it would be two points.
- 1:06:45Yeah.
- 1:06:48Yeah, don't count your chickens.
- 1:06:52I wonder if Pat will do athlete interview
- 1:06:54with Dave if he makes it.
- 1:06:56Be good theater.
- 1:07:00Dave has been very forgiving on his end.
- 1:07:04I just don't know if they're going to
- 1:07:05be reciprocated or not.
- 1:07:07Agreed.
- 1:07:14Last week,
- 1:07:16I was binge-watching Dave athlete
- 1:07:18interviews.
- 1:07:20I have not really caught very many of
- 1:07:21them.
- 1:07:21I need to go watch them.
- 1:07:24I think they're pretty good.
- 1:07:25I think he's gotten better.
- 1:07:27I noticed he's pumped out a ton this
- 1:07:29weekend.
- 1:07:30Okay.
- 1:07:31So I'm way behind again.
- 1:07:35Dylan was this weekend, Dylan Hamming.
- 1:07:37Oh, nice.
- 1:07:37I'll have to catch up.
- 1:07:39It was like Enola Kai, Callum Clemens.
- 1:07:46So a lot of that group that just
- 1:07:49qualified recently.
- 1:07:50Tudor?
- 1:07:52Or was that one already done?
- 1:07:53Tudor was earlier.
- 1:07:54Okay.
- 1:07:56Tudor was a good one.
- 1:07:59It's funny because the people that were on
- 1:08:01his demo team,
- 1:08:03There's this bond.
- 1:08:07And Tudor was on the demo team with
- 1:08:10him.
- 1:08:11And so Tudor's so shy.
- 1:08:13Yeah.
- 1:08:16And he's gotten a lot better since you
- 1:08:19and I have interviewed him.
- 1:08:22But with Dave, he was very relaxed.
- 1:08:28I think he's definitely gaining some
- 1:08:29confidence.
- 1:08:30I mean,
- 1:08:34I mean,
- 1:08:35CrossFit will do that for you in the
- 1:08:38gym and out of the gym.
- 1:08:41Actually,
- 1:08:41I just had chaired one of Greg's gym
- 1:08:45creatives that Sousa had put out some of
- 1:08:48his quotes.
- 1:08:49And, you know,
- 1:08:50like CrossFit just makes you a better
- 1:08:52person in general.
- 1:08:55I think gaining that confidence in the gym
- 1:08:59is, you know,
- 1:09:00it's only helping him in every aspect of
- 1:09:02his life.
- 1:09:04is tutor shy or just a child tutor
- 1:09:07shy i just think he's an introvert very
- 1:09:11much yeah like if i look like tudor
- 1:09:15i would be the biggest extrovert in the
- 1:09:17world i'd be walking to the grocery store
- 1:09:20shirtless i would be like put me on
- 1:09:23gq that man is hot i am a
- 1:09:28straight man but that dude is hot i'm
- 1:09:32surprised he doesn't have more of the
- 1:09:33ladies
- 1:09:35Knocking down his door.
- 1:09:39I thought Kyra's was the best.
- 1:09:42I thought Lydia Fish's was the best.
- 1:09:45I liked Lydia's questions to Dave.
- 1:09:48We got to know how long Dave has
- 1:09:50been married.
- 1:09:51We got to know about his family life.
- 1:09:54No other athlete has dove into that
- 1:09:56before.
- 1:09:57Well,
- 1:09:57he doesn't always share that kind of
- 1:09:59stuff.
- 1:09:59That's awesome that she asked that.
- 1:10:01I love that.
- 1:10:02Yeah, it was great.
- 1:10:05uh uh tutor was great on the glintons
- 1:10:10yeah they really loosened him up and it
- 1:10:12was good it was a good interview um
- 1:10:26uh the greatest adaptation to crossfit
- 1:10:28takes place between the ears some greg guy
- 1:10:30say that said this and very true
- 1:10:34Very true.
- 1:10:35And I think that is something Tudor did
- 1:10:36have to work on.
- 1:10:37Yes.
- 1:10:40And last year he took tenth.
- 1:10:43I cannot wait to see what the follow-up
- 1:10:45is.
- 1:10:51So.
- 1:10:55What else do we have?
- 1:10:59We had a couple announcements this week.
- 1:11:01Pig, snail, bike.
- 1:11:03Oh, yeah.
- 1:11:05It's all exciting.
- 1:11:08I think that's super exciting.
- 1:11:10Those are implements I think people have
- 1:11:12been wanting to see again.
- 1:11:16And I think it just brings you more
- 1:11:19to the outdoor event type atmosphere when
- 1:11:24you get implements like that,
- 1:11:25which people have been asking for.
- 1:11:30I love it.
- 1:11:32I've been asking for them.
- 1:11:34I'm excited.
- 1:11:34So now we have hopper, pig, snail, bike,
- 1:11:39pool.
- 1:11:43And there's one other thing I know I'm
- 1:11:46missing, but we have a lot of implements.
- 1:11:50That means I think a more well-rounded,
- 1:11:55better for the spectator.
- 1:12:01Is Tudor disappointed if he finishes tenth
- 1:12:03again?
- 1:12:06I think he would be,
- 1:12:09but as an analyst,
- 1:12:11I would say it's such a hard field.
- 1:12:17It is a very difficult field.
- 1:12:19I think anyone in the top ten is
- 1:12:23literally world class.
- 1:12:26The top ten is going to be crazy.
- 1:12:29Whoever finishes in the top ten should
- 1:12:31have no disappointments.
- 1:12:35I think it is not unreasonable to think
- 1:12:38that the gap between first and tenth is
- 1:12:42the smallest we've ever seen.
- 1:12:44Yeah.
- 1:12:50I just think.
- 1:12:54I mean,
- 1:12:54podiums are going to be crazy on both
- 1:12:55sides, honestly.
- 1:12:57I think it's exciting on both sides.
- 1:13:03um well no specialized bikes i don't i
- 1:13:10don't know i if if i were to
- 1:13:15pick the bike workout i want bike repeater
- 1:13:18to come back and that was that's the
- 1:13:22rope climb one yep yep oh that's cool
- 1:13:27it was the most simplistic bike ride
- 1:13:31but the most fun with the rope climbing
- 1:13:34it.
- 1:13:34Yeah.
- 1:13:44So... Earlier this week,
- 1:13:49I did mention an idea to fix the
- 1:13:51games.
- 1:13:53Oh, what was that?
- 1:13:56So I think...
- 1:13:57We're at a place where spectators are
- 1:14:00dwindling.
- 1:14:01I agree.
- 1:14:02People are not watching like they used to.
- 1:14:06And when I say people,
- 1:14:07I'm not talking about you, me,
- 1:14:08or the people in the chat.
- 1:14:10We are there every week for everything,
- 1:14:13no matter if it's on an iPhone or
- 1:14:16whatever.
- 1:14:17Agreed.
- 1:14:20I think we need to strip everything back
- 1:14:23and only ten men and ten women make
- 1:14:26the CrossFit Games.
- 1:14:31Because that is your spectacle, right?
- 1:14:34And if you think of the spectacle in
- 1:14:35every other sport,
- 1:14:37it's a championship game.
- 1:14:39Even the Olympics are one heat for the
- 1:14:43gold medal.
- 1:14:50That's because there's so much going on at
- 1:14:52the Olympics.
- 1:14:54But the Super Bowl is down to two
- 1:14:56teams.
- 1:14:57The
- 1:15:00It just is.
- 1:15:02Now think about it as a spectator and
- 1:15:04not you as a geek to the sport.
- 1:15:10An event would be done in twenty to
- 1:15:13thirty minutes.
- 1:15:18So it's not an all day sit in
- 1:15:21front of your computer watch.
- 1:15:25Well, what are you having them do?
- 1:15:28Four events a day over three days?
- 1:15:30It's still every two hours.
- 1:15:35You can catch up at the end of
- 1:15:36the day.
- 1:15:37It's a couple quick events.
- 1:15:39It's one heat per.
- 1:15:44I don't know that I would prefer that.
- 1:15:47I'm not asking if you would prefer it.
- 1:15:50I know that people already scroll ahead.
- 1:15:52Like if you were,
- 1:15:53if you're going to go watch it,
- 1:15:54if you're at home for the weekend,
- 1:15:56you fast forward to the last heat.
- 1:15:57Correct.
- 1:15:58Correct.
- 1:15:59Which is like exact.
- 1:16:02It wouldn't matter.
- 1:16:03It'd be the exact same, but that,
- 1:16:05but a person coming off the street isn't
- 1:16:08going to know to fast forward past all
- 1:16:10this stuff to get to the last heat.
- 1:16:14So how is the,
- 1:16:16the broadcast litter is just like,
- 1:16:19Event one, and then it turns off.
- 1:16:20And then a new show pops up,
- 1:16:22event two.
- 1:16:23It's a different YouTube feed every time.
- 1:16:27So it's event one, event two,
- 1:16:29and you go...
- 1:16:31Or I think it's a better sell to
- 1:16:33networks.
- 1:16:35It would fit in a half-hour show.
- 1:16:40It would fit in a streaming.
- 1:16:41Why can't you post-produce that anyway and
- 1:16:44be like...
- 1:16:45here was our four events from the day
- 1:16:47and here of these four top heats.
- 1:16:50Here we go.
- 1:16:50Post-produced sports suck.
- 1:16:53Most what?
- 1:16:54Post-produced sports suck.
- 1:16:57Well, it would be, you can't, that's,
- 1:16:59but that's exactly,
- 1:17:01you would post-produce that.
- 1:17:02Like you're not selling that to the
- 1:17:03network.
- 1:17:04Hey, we're going to have these three,
- 1:17:08we're going to have these four events.
- 1:17:10They're going to be every two hours for
- 1:17:12twenty minutes.
- 1:17:12Like, how are you getting that on
- 1:17:15Network TV.
- 1:17:18Now hear me out.
- 1:17:18Did we, when we were on ESPN,
- 1:17:21the last couple of times we were on
- 1:17:23ESPN,
- 1:17:24didn't we run live events on like Friday
- 1:17:28night, Saturday, Sunday afternoon?
- 1:17:34Yes.
- 1:17:35I think they,
- 1:17:36I think they did their mile run in
- 1:17:38the, in the bag sprint.
- 1:17:40Yeah.
- 1:17:42Right, but if you only had one heat,
- 1:17:45you don't have to dictate your programming
- 1:17:48to the network.
- 1:17:50Whatever it's going to be,
- 1:17:51unless you do MRF or some kind of
- 1:17:55long run or whatever,
- 1:17:57you can fit it into a half an
- 1:17:58hour show.
- 1:18:00How are you fitting it into a half
- 1:18:01hour show is what I'm asking.
- 1:18:03By post-producing it, right?
- 1:18:04No, run it live.
- 1:18:07How are you doing four events?
- 1:18:09You can't do that.
- 1:18:11I didn't say four events.
- 1:18:13When we were on ESPN before live...
- 1:18:14You're just taking one of their events.
- 1:18:15You're just going to say event four is
- 1:18:17going to be on TV?
- 1:18:18Right.
- 1:18:18And on ESPN on a Sunday,
- 1:18:20they're trying to fill time.
- 1:18:22You could run one or two of them.
- 1:18:23You could do that.
- 1:18:25You could do that with...
- 1:18:27Again, you would just be like,
- 1:18:28here's our final heat, put this live,
- 1:18:31which I kind of think they did anyway.
- 1:18:34You didn't even get in on the first
- 1:18:36heat when they put it on that.
- 1:18:38Okay,
- 1:18:39but there's nobody showing up either
- 1:18:42because who wants to sit through the same
- 1:18:45workout eight times?
- 1:18:48If I'm going to go there and I'm
- 1:18:50going to be there at eight a.m.
- 1:18:52for event one and then back in there
- 1:18:55at eleven a.m.
- 1:18:56for event two and then back in there
- 1:18:57at one thirty at one thirty p.m.
- 1:18:59for event three and back in there at
- 1:19:01four for if I went and spent the
- 1:19:04money to go watch,
- 1:19:05I'd rather if I wanted to be able
- 1:19:07to sit there and watch for eight straight
- 1:19:09hours.
- 1:19:09What the heck?
- 1:19:10Then I'm not going to go.
- 1:19:13But you're looking at this as you.
- 1:19:17I mean,
- 1:19:17I don't know about the general fan who
- 1:19:20I mean, there's a lot of problems.
- 1:19:22And I think, though,
- 1:19:23to do it down to ten at the
- 1:19:24games,
- 1:19:25you have to have a much better season
- 1:19:27to get there.
- 1:19:29A much more straightforward,
- 1:19:31linear season that makes sense,
- 1:19:34that creates drama getting there.
- 1:19:37And then the championships are the ten
- 1:19:41elite athletes going head to head.
- 1:19:45I don't like the point system for a
- 1:19:47ten-person event.
- 1:19:48When they did the ten people...
- 1:19:51You have to strip this down to nothing
- 1:19:54and start over.
- 1:19:57I don't know.
- 1:19:58The only thing I think could be good
- 1:19:59about it is if they somehow involved the
- 1:20:02community at these events because there's
- 1:20:06all this dead time in between events.
- 1:20:08That's the only way it could work.
- 1:20:10Yes.
- 1:20:11Yes.
- 1:20:12But
- 1:20:12But I feel like that's what was great
- 1:20:13about everyone all together.
- 1:20:15And there was something for everybody.
- 1:20:16And it was,
- 1:20:18you had the spectator workout or area,
- 1:20:21like they already had it nailed down and
- 1:20:23it was doing great.
- 1:20:25Like you don't need to cut it back
- 1:20:28to make it do great.
- 1:20:29You needed to keep it all inclusive.
- 1:20:33Okay.
- 1:20:33We have, we have multiple problems.
- 1:20:36We have a season that doesn't make sense.
- 1:20:38We have dwindling attendance at events.
- 1:20:42We have dwindling numbers on streaming.
- 1:20:49And no vendors are showing up anymore
- 1:20:52because nobody goes to the vendors.
- 1:20:57So if you have downtime,
- 1:21:00more people would go to the vendor village
- 1:21:03to go to the vendors to spend money.
- 1:21:08Let's think about like Wadapalooza.
- 1:21:10There's these big gaps during the elite
- 1:21:13individual events.
- 1:21:16And people go into the vendor village
- 1:21:18during those times.
- 1:21:19And that's why Wadapalooza's vendor
- 1:21:20village is three times the size of the
- 1:21:23games.
- 1:21:23Yeah,
- 1:21:24but there's also like two thousand people
- 1:21:26there.
- 1:21:27Again,
- 1:21:27it's because it's more inclusive and
- 1:21:31everyone's there competing.
- 1:21:34And they bring their friends and family.
- 1:21:37If you cut the fields down,
- 1:21:39you could add a couple of the age
- 1:21:41groups in to fill some of that gap.
- 1:21:45But only ten of them get to come
- 1:21:47to the games, too.
- 1:21:52One, the ticket prices are way too much.
- 1:21:54Agreed.
- 1:21:55I think that's your biggest issue.
- 1:21:58But it's more than a one-issue fix, right?
- 1:22:04And whether you like my idea or not,
- 1:22:07someone has to sit down and just strip
- 1:22:08it down to bare bones and start and
- 1:22:12not do things because we've always done
- 1:22:14them or because we did them ten years
- 1:22:17ago and it worked ten years ago.
- 1:22:19The younger generation will not sit down
- 1:22:22for lengthy periods of time to watch
- 1:22:24something.
- 1:22:28You have to make it easy for them
- 1:22:29to see it on their phone.
- 1:22:30You have to make it quick and easy
- 1:22:32to see.
- 1:22:35And the numbers show that we are not
- 1:22:39getting people to the games.
- 1:22:42And whether that's ticket prices or too
- 1:22:45long of an event, I mean, my God,
- 1:22:48I love, love the Masters games.
- 1:22:52I get sick of the same event for
- 1:22:55twenty seven heats.
- 1:23:00I agree.
- 1:23:00I mean, I feel like.
- 1:23:05I feel like the teens need to be
- 1:23:09with the younger masters and then like the
- 1:23:16older master.
- 1:23:16I mean, I don't know,
- 1:23:17maybe even split the fourteen fifteen off
- 1:23:20with the older because I feel like the
- 1:23:23programming is needs to be different.
- 1:23:27Weights need to be different.
- 1:23:29I think you can make the sixteen to
- 1:23:30seventeen up to like fifty.
- 1:23:35A little bit more difficult programming.
- 1:23:40And it wouldn't be.
- 1:23:42Seventeen heats.
- 1:23:45I agree.
- 1:23:46It'd be four heats.
- 1:23:47I'm the one that said Masters should cut.
- 1:23:50After forty nine.
- 1:23:51Yeah.
- 1:23:53Until we figure this stuff out.
- 1:23:55Like.
- 1:23:56Trying to fit this.
- 1:23:57The Titanic.
- 1:24:00Into a new.
- 1:24:01A new port is nearly impossible.
- 1:24:06It sucks because I feel... Truly,
- 1:24:08I feel like the Masters are the sport
- 1:24:11of CrossFit.
- 1:24:12I know everyone says the Elites are
- 1:24:18bringing the money, but do they?
- 1:24:23If the Masters don't sign up for the
- 1:24:25Open, there's not even really a season.
- 1:24:28Look at the numbers.
- 1:24:29It's the Masters.
- 1:24:33I do...
- 1:24:35I understand what you're saying.
- 1:24:37And this is probably the biggest problem
- 1:24:40with CrossFit as the sport.
- 1:24:43To separate it from the methodology is
- 1:24:45very hard.
- 1:24:48The methodology is being put into practice
- 1:24:52by the Masters athletes, right?
- 1:24:55But nobody watches the Champions Tour on
- 1:24:59the PGA as much as they watch the
- 1:25:02regular PGA Tour.
- 1:25:04It's just a fact.
- 1:25:06People want to see the best of the
- 1:25:07best.
- 1:25:10I just say, whittle it down.
- 1:25:13But again,
- 1:25:14you better get the right ten there.
- 1:25:15Because now you're down to ten.
- 1:25:17So the season has to make more sense.
- 1:25:21Right.
- 1:25:22And I feel like the year of the
- 1:25:23ten was not well done.
- 1:25:31In my mind, I have...
- 1:25:34some way to go smaller venue or affiliate
- 1:25:39or whatever way you want to go to
- 1:25:42get, to get down to like,
- 1:25:44you qualify out of this just like,
- 1:25:47and I know we're not the NFL,
- 1:25:49but the NFL has divisions.
- 1:25:52You have to win your division to make
- 1:25:53the playoffs.
- 1:25:54And then there's a couple wild cards,
- 1:25:57right?
- 1:25:58You have divisions around the world.
- 1:26:00You have to win your division to get
- 1:26:02to the games.
- 1:26:06If you don't win your division,
- 1:26:07you have to be a wild card.
- 1:26:09And it has to be very specific how
- 1:26:11you qualify as a wild card.
- 1:26:15But as the funnel gets smaller,
- 1:26:18the drama gets greater.
- 1:26:20And if you make that funnel,
- 1:26:24it's really hard to take two thousand
- 1:26:26people qualifying for semifinals and put
- 1:26:28drama around that.
- 1:26:30Mm hmm.
- 1:26:31right right if only the top two hundred
- 1:26:34make it out of quarters there's a lot
- 1:26:37of drama around quarters yeah and so it's
- 1:26:45all about what is more consumable for a
- 1:26:50viewer a spectator what brings the drama
- 1:26:54back to this that it makes sense
- 1:26:58But we have like, oh, my gosh,
- 1:27:01I want to call this season last chance
- 1:27:03you because everybody has multiple
- 1:27:07chances.
- 1:27:07It doesn't.
- 1:27:09It's as it is so aggravating.
- 1:27:14Yeah.
- 1:27:16there are years that teams get upset and
- 1:27:18don't make it through the playoffs.
- 1:27:20And like everybody thought the Celtics
- 1:27:23would go far in the playoffs this year,
- 1:27:25they get beat early by a bad seventy
- 1:27:27sixers team and the NBA went on and
- 1:27:30had a great successful season.
- 1:27:34Right.
- 1:27:34There were still storylines.
- 1:27:36There were still great things to watch.
- 1:27:40Didn't hurt.
- 1:27:40They got New York into the finals and
- 1:27:42that's a big population.
- 1:27:43Yeah.
- 1:27:44But
- 1:27:47That's what makes sports great.
- 1:27:51You have to play the game.
- 1:27:54If you don't show up on that day
- 1:27:56to play the game, you're out.
- 1:27:59I think that's why regionals was so
- 1:28:00exciting.
- 1:28:01It was your shot.
- 1:28:02You couldn't, if you were sick, it sucked.
- 1:28:05Yeah.
- 1:28:05You were going to miss out that year.
- 1:28:08Yeah.
- 1:28:13So
- 1:28:16As the quote actually goes,
- 1:28:17you play to win the game.
- 1:28:23And the more times you have to play
- 1:28:26to win the games, to win the game,
- 1:28:29to move on, the more drama it becomes.
- 1:28:34I mean,
- 1:28:34look at the college football playoff.
- 1:28:36That thing was so unpredictable the last
- 1:28:38couple of years.
- 1:28:42You seed the people because of their
- 1:28:43season.
- 1:28:44And who would have picked Indiana to win
- 1:28:47the national championship?
- 1:28:51It didn't mean that people didn't enjoy
- 1:28:53the championship game.
- 1:28:56Just because Ohio State was at home this
- 1:28:58year.
- 1:29:00I love that Ohio State was home this
- 1:29:02year.
- 1:29:03Gave Indiana a shot.
- 1:29:11So.
- 1:29:14There would need to be more consistency
- 1:29:16with the semifinals.
- 1:29:18Amen.
- 1:29:18Yes.
- 1:29:19Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:29:22I also believe that the semifinals,
- 1:29:26the one thing we've gotten away from is
- 1:29:28the surprise of what happens at the games.
- 1:29:31When you have eleven semifinals doing
- 1:29:33eleven groups of workouts,
- 1:29:37there's nothing left to be new with when
- 1:29:39you get to the games.
- 1:29:44When you had all the regionals doing the
- 1:29:46same six workouts,
- 1:29:48there was a lot of stuff you didn't
- 1:29:50get to see those people do until they
- 1:29:53got to the games.
- 1:29:56I agree.
- 1:29:57I think that's where we've just become
- 1:30:00oversaturated.
- 1:30:01The space is oversaturated.
- 1:30:04I understand CrossFit wanting to offload
- 1:30:07things,
- 1:30:08but those comps need to just be those
- 1:30:11comps for...
- 1:30:13their own thing and they shouldn't be a
- 1:30:15part of the season if it you know
- 1:30:18like people who aren't in the season go
- 1:30:22do those comps and they should be big
- 1:30:25community events like I think CrossFit
- 1:30:27needs to be in charge of the entire
- 1:30:28season with standard programming across
- 1:30:32everything so that yeah so yeah you don't
- 1:30:35like you are in charge of the programming
- 1:30:37so the whole season makes sense here's the
- 1:30:41hot take
- 1:30:45In CrossFit, the methodology,
- 1:30:46we want to help everybody become
- 1:30:48successful and do well.
- 1:30:51In sport,
- 1:30:52you have to hurt people's feelings.
- 1:30:55And CrossFit's afraid to do it.
- 1:30:58CrossFit doesn't want to hurt anybody's
- 1:31:00feelings.
- 1:31:01They don't want the boo-hooing and
- 1:31:02bitching about what happened during the
- 1:31:04season.
- 1:31:05So they let everybody have ten chances.
- 1:31:08And they put in a last chance qualifier.
- 1:31:10And they do all this...
- 1:31:12All because they don't want people to have
- 1:31:15hurt feelings.
- 1:31:17Back in the regional days,
- 1:31:19people got their feelings hurt.
- 1:31:23And that's when CrossFit was the most
- 1:31:25successful.
- 1:31:28Because if people are getting their
- 1:31:30feelings hurt, it matters.
- 1:31:34Yeah.
- 1:31:37So enough of the boohooing and crying
- 1:31:39around.
- 1:31:41We want that back.
- 1:31:44We want the boohoo and the crying around
- 1:31:46because that's what brings emotion to the
- 1:31:50sport.
- 1:31:54With that, that's all I got for tonight.
- 1:31:59Don't forget all Super Chats,
- 1:32:03all donations go to Jamie and Carolyn for
- 1:32:06the next week.
- 1:32:08Got to get these girls to the games.
- 1:32:10With that, hope you have a great week.
- 1:32:12We'll be back tomorrow with lunch with the
- 1:32:14Clydesdale and the Cowboy.
- 1:32:16Until then,
- 1:32:17hope everybody has a great night and we'll
- 1:32:20see you tomorrow.
- 1:32:21Bye guys.
- 1:32:53Sunday
